- 0:26Speaker 1: you had some time to.
- 0:27Speaker 3: The name the raft union, ever be like, hey, we'd

- 0:31Speaker 4: I don't know if you guys have ever seen it,
- 0:33Speaker 4: but there's a scoreboard and there's a button that says
- 0:36Speaker 4: on a clot on and off.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Vintage Holy Cross baseball jersey, you know, and I won
- 0:43Speaker 3: the raffle?
- 0:44Speaker 1: Should I win? My be baseball UN's So when it
- 0:48Speaker 1: came to close, including uniforms, where the seventies the worst
- 0:52Speaker 1: decade ever? My worst? Do you mean the best? No?
- 0:54Speaker 1: I mean the world.
- 0:56Speaker 5: Awesome, Pittsburgh Pirates awesome, awesome, awesome in all the different combinations.
- 1:01Speaker 5: I don't really like mathematical formulas that determine these things
- 1:06Speaker 5: because you're wrong.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Let me tell you what you guys could take a
- 1:09Speaker 1: look at my calculator.
- 1:10Speaker 6: It's pretty I think revolutionary for the conversations that people
- 1:13Speaker 6: are having around who the best is that actually does
- 1:16Speaker 6: the calculations.
- 1:17Speaker 1: For you will absolutely despise it because he didn't come
- 1:19Speaker 1: up with it. But that's cool. This is Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Presented by Toyota dot Com.
- 1:27Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:31Speaker 1: at Julette Stadium. And it's me, it's Alex, it's Deuce,
- 1:35Speaker 1: it's Matt in the booth. Where's Paul education though? Were now?
- 1:42Speaker 7: Shoot, I don't know.
- 1:42Speaker 8: It's a staycation. He sent me a photo of him
- 1:44Speaker 8: and Beth last night and like coordinated outfits. He was
- 1:47Speaker 8: wearing a pink shirt watching the watching the tall Ship.
- 1:50Speaker 1: You know you're old when you're coordinating outfits with your wife.
- 1:53Speaker 8: I don't know if they coordinated like the demon colored
- 1:56Speaker 8: was right out of.
- 1:59Speaker 1: We know where Evan is.
- 2:00Speaker 7: Oh, he's definitely on the vineyard.
- 2:02Speaker 8: He was on the vineyard. Who's doing one week on
- 2:03Speaker 8: the vineyard in one week's staycation in the city with
- 2:06Speaker 8: Jess So I don't know what the order of that was.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I hope you didn't pick this week to staycase because it's
- 2:11Speaker 3: all right, spicy.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Well, well we'll get through this without him. Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 7: Sure, we're gonna have to fill some time, but I'm
- 2:17Speaker 7: ready to talk.
- 2:18Speaker 1: So FIFA is done for Gillette Stadium. Yeah, and they're
- 2:23Speaker 1: clearing out. We're getting back to normal here. Yeah, getting
- 2:26Speaker 1: ready for training camp.
- 2:27Speaker 8: Pulling in, I was like, the war is over. I
- 2:29Speaker 8: can park right in front of the building.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So next weekend, not this one, next weekend, here we go.
- 2:37Speaker 1: It's training camp time, folks. Gear it up.
- 2:39Speaker 3: I mean, Friday twenty fifth, Friday, Rabel talk and off
- 2:43Speaker 3: you go. And I love the the clip teasing Fortest
- 2:46Speaker 3: in Foxboro coming Friday.
- 2:48Speaker 7: Yeah, episode two this season. But he's like, we're gonna
- 2:51Speaker 7: you're gonna go, You're gonna.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Go someplace and then you're gonna come back and it's
- 2:54Speaker 3: gonna get fast and competitive, and it's it's awesome. I mean,
- 2:57Speaker 3: I just the three joint practices summer are really exciting
- 3:02Speaker 3: to me.
- 3:02Speaker 7: Just those are such great takes.
- 3:03Speaker 3: And to not have to worry about traveling to one,
- 3:06Speaker 3: to welcome two different teams here, to good teams that
- 3:08Speaker 3: have a lot.
- 3:08Speaker 7: Of good players to watch, that's it's gonna be fun summer.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I think. Yeah, it's gonna be a good a good
- 3:13Speaker 1: training camp. Lots to talk about, lots to keep track
- 3:17Speaker 1: of and analyze, and I'm sure we'll overdo it a
- 3:21Speaker 1: little bit with our knee jerk reactions after you know,
- 3:24Speaker 1: guys in shorts in the first day and things like that,
- 3:28Speaker 1: but it'll be fun and just a reminder. On that
- 3:32Speaker 1: first day, Saturday, July twenty fifth, we'll be live from
- 3:36Speaker 1: practice as we always do, so we'll cover that practice live.
- 3:40Speaker 1: We'll also cover the first day in pads live, and
- 3:43Speaker 1: we'll cover those joint practices live, so that'll be exciting. Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 3: We'll have wrap ups every day after each practice, and
- 3:50Speaker 3: our positional previews started running yesterday, so we've got the
- 3:53Speaker 3: defensive line on the offensive line going.
- 3:55Speaker 7: So it's starting to ramp up, Fred, Here we go,
- 3:59Speaker 7: six Patriots.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yeah, lot's going on. What's going on with you? Alex?
- 4:05Speaker 8: Forsing myself back here, back into the swing of things.
- 4:09Speaker 8: It's been kind of nice with FIFA gone. I feel
- 4:11Speaker 8: like it's just been so low key here and then
- 4:13Speaker 8: this is our last week.
- 4:14Speaker 3: And yeah, I was to tell announced Fred, I think
- 4:17Speaker 3: I hit the cycle this weekend for a CAPE weekend,
- 4:20Speaker 3: like I think I pretty much hit every single thing
- 4:22Speaker 3: I need to accomplish. I was like, I ate a
- 4:24Speaker 3: lobster roll, I swam in the ocean, I flew a kite,
- 4:27Speaker 3: I caught a fish.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I ate a.
- 4:29Speaker 7: Flying a kite was on your list, It's not usually
- 4:31Speaker 7: on my list. But I was being the funkle.
- 4:33Speaker 3: I had my young nephews and nieces around and we
- 4:36Speaker 3: were going through our beach bag and like, oh, there's
- 4:38Speaker 3: a there's a there's you know, there's a.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Kite in here.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I you know, usually disaster, right, Like, do you ever
- 4:43Speaker 3: remember successfully flying a kite?
- 4:44Speaker 1: I don't.
- 4:45Speaker 3: I I've always just you sit there and it goes
- 4:47Speaker 3: right into the ground, right in the ground.
- 4:48Speaker 8: It's tangled.
- 4:48Speaker 3: I guess in my old age, I figured out how
- 4:50Speaker 3: to fly kite and I got that sucker way up
- 4:52Speaker 3: and the kids were all like, this is awesome.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So my dad and I flew a kite from Dennisport
- 4:58Speaker 1: and it got so far out that the string broke,
- 5:01Speaker 1: like there was so much weight on the string from
- 5:03Speaker 1: and I don't know where the kite and.
- 5:05Speaker 7: Kind of fun right it is, you know, it's way
- 5:07Speaker 7: out there.
- 5:08Speaker 3: So that's for me, is what I need to like
- 5:11Speaker 3: get ready for the season, and I need to.
- 5:12Speaker 1: You know.
- 5:13Speaker 3: It was only three days we were down there, but
- 5:14Speaker 3: I went out on the Albatross, the famous boat, so
- 5:17Speaker 3: did some fishing, did some swimming. I feel like I'm
- 5:18Speaker 3: checking my boxes and the batteries are getting charged up
- 5:21Speaker 3: for go time.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Yeah not yet for you. No, I still have things
- 5:26Speaker 1: to do. I still have things to do, some of
- 5:28Speaker 1: which I won't get to. But yeah, I.
- 5:32Speaker 8: Do like the lifestyle of training camp though, Like I
- 5:36Speaker 8: don't know, I feel like I spend a lot of
- 5:37Speaker 8: time in Rhode Island during camp. So it's just coming here.
- 5:39Speaker 8: You're outside all day and I just go home to
- 5:42Speaker 8: the beach. It's like I spend maybe the only time
- 5:44Speaker 8: I'm inside is sleeping during camp.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, you should have been around the days when
- 5:49Speaker 1: we had training camp at Bryant Collins, Oh my lord,
- 5:51Speaker 1: where some people literally live there. Yeah, obviously the team did,
- 5:56Speaker 1: but I mean.
- 5:57Speaker 8: Like they would open the dorms to you guys too.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Oh yeah wow.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you think about all the all the
- 6:02Speaker 3: stuff that our department like that for each training camp practice,
- 6:06Speaker 3: and imagine now you have two of those every day
- 6:08Speaker 3: and you have to like practices in the morning practice,
- 6:10Speaker 3: they got shoot the afternoon practice.
- 6:12Speaker 7: You got all this footage and all this miked up stuff.
- 6:14Speaker 1: So maybe it's a little bit. The upside then is
- 6:16Speaker 1: you know, you got all your meals too, breakfast, lunch,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and dinner. But yeah, you were there all day.
- 6:23Speaker 8: You're out in the sun, Like do you even want
- 6:25Speaker 8: to eat when it's that hot?
- 6:26Speaker 1: I don't even know you work up an appetite. We
- 6:29Speaker 1: actually had a tent on the sideline, okay, you know
- 6:32Speaker 1: it was just one field too, that's the other thing.
- 6:35Speaker 1: One field and we had a tent that we would
- 6:39Speaker 1: sit under along with the other media, and it was
- 6:44Speaker 1: it was wild. It was much different, you know, two
- 6:47Speaker 1: a days, that whole thing. Yeah, but the food was good.
- 6:52Speaker 3: I mean what about I mean the players too, Like
- 6:53Speaker 3: we're talking about like, well we have to do watch players.
- 6:56Speaker 7: It seems a lot harder back then.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Probably a conversation will always have about did that better
- 7:01Speaker 3: prepare them for the season where they're less injuries early
- 7:03Speaker 3: on because of that? Or there are more injuries in
- 7:07Speaker 3: camp because of that? Right you know I I I
- 7:10Speaker 3: tend to miss some of that, you know, the first
- 7:12Speaker 3: especially the first like what four days that we're probably
- 7:14Speaker 3: just gonna be out there and extension of mini camp
- 7:17Speaker 3: essentially just putting myself.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I just remember, you know they do the goal line,
- 7:20Speaker 1: red zone stuff and Ted Johnson in the middle, Sam
- 7:24Speaker 1: gash should full back and they would you know, smash
- 7:28Speaker 1: each other like you know those mountain goats. Seriously, that's
- 7:32Speaker 1: what it looked and sounded like. It was violent impacts
- 7:36Speaker 1: and it's it's amazed, amazing that they didn't get hurt. More.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, maybe you'll get some Robert Splaine, Reggie Gilliam,
- 7:44Speaker 3: like the modern version of Mike versus full back.
- 7:48Speaker 1: All Right, So you were grumbling about lists, rankings, and
- 7:54Speaker 1: there's one in particular that's got your well, there's a
- 7:57Speaker 1: couple that we can back up ti lists. I know.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Well when we're in the dog days here leading up
- 8:03Speaker 3: to camp and you kind of don't have any new
- 8:05Speaker 3: news to talk about, any new signings and stuff. But
- 8:08Speaker 3: the Chris Sims thing came out, which as soon as
- 8:10Speaker 3: you see it's Chris Sims, you're like, oh, he's gonna.
- 8:12Speaker 7: Dog Brady on this one, like you know Brady.
- 8:14Speaker 3: So it's QBS in their prime, which, like, how else
- 8:18Speaker 3: you know, would you rank them, Like, do you ever think, like,
- 8:21Speaker 3: let's rank quarterbacks on the back end on the back
- 8:24Speaker 3: nine of their career.
- 8:24Speaker 7: You know, I'm so sure in their prime.
- 8:26Speaker 3: But you know he had Peyton, Mahomes, Rogers, Lway, Brett Favre,
- 8:32Speaker 3: Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Marino Brady getting in there at nine,
- 8:36Speaker 3: right behind Robert Rogers, Staback.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Brady comes in at nine. And so like this is
- 8:41Speaker 1: just like total like who's the best quarterback in their prime?
- 8:44Speaker 1: There weren't any like caveats now, not just sit in
- 8:47Speaker 1: their prime, which I guess it's insane. He's not that
- 8:52Speaker 1: any credibility. But if he was looking for any credibility,
- 8:55Speaker 1: he surely didn't get it from this.
- 8:57Speaker 3: And some people are talking about you know, and I
- 8:59Speaker 3: know this sometimes goes with Brady of you know, not
- 9:02Speaker 3: the most physically gifted perhaps, and certainly know Lamar Jackson
- 9:05Speaker 3: is more physically gifted than but that's not like you.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Know, who had the best arm? Okay you're left to figure, right, right,
- 9:13Speaker 1: But if it's just who was the best, who commanded
- 9:16Speaker 1: the position best, who exemplified what being a great quarterback
- 9:20Speaker 1: did best, how could you pick anyone else but Tom Brady,
- 9:24Speaker 1: especially in his mind, like that was where I was
- 9:25Speaker 1: headed with it.
- 9:26Speaker 3: And someone you on Twitter like put clips together a
- 9:30Speaker 3: Brady walking to the line, looking around like oh, backing up,
- 9:34Speaker 3: directing guys, and then all of a sudden it's.
- 9:36Speaker 1: A huge play, you know, So I like, is that
- 9:38Speaker 1: a factor?
- 9:39Speaker 3: Because I think no one's better Tom Brady and Chris
- 9:42Speaker 3: Sims passed cross here.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Chris, I don't know what he did.
- 9:45Speaker 6: He like.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Brady must have said or done something or something that
- 9:52Speaker 1: he's forever hates him.
- 9:54Speaker 8: What is considering Brady's prime.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Basically to twenty nineteen, his sixteen year prime was, you know,
- 10:04Speaker 3: it was about ninth compared to what like the seven
- 10:06Speaker 3: years Rogerster, I don't know your rogist, but you know
- 10:09Speaker 3: what I mean, Like, that's some of these guys like longevity,
- 10:11Speaker 3: and you know, I found myself thinking trying it to
- 10:14Speaker 3: Drake may Of, you know, and we get into Josh
- 10:17Speaker 3: McDaniels and just the freedom Brady had as a quarterback
- 10:20Speaker 3: to do things and adjust things, and certainly you can
- 10:22Speaker 3: look at some of those quarterbacks ahead of him and say, no,
- 10:25Speaker 3: you know, with some of these guys had really special,
- 10:26Speaker 3: weird talents that are really fun to watch Lamar Jackson.
- 10:29Speaker 7: Patrick Mahomes.
- 10:30Speaker 3: But you know, when the game's on the line and
- 10:31Speaker 3: you need a guy who's going to orchestrate a drive, like,
- 10:35Speaker 3: isn't that what.
- 10:36Speaker 1: A quarterback is all about? Isn't that the essence of
- 10:40Speaker 1: the leader of the offense on a football team that
- 10:43Speaker 1: in those moments you can count on that person and
- 10:46Speaker 1: he comes through time and time again. Isn't that Tom Brady? Yeah?
- 10:50Speaker 3: And that's what to me is you know, any there
- 10:52Speaker 3: can be people with physical gifts, but somebody who can mental,
- 10:56Speaker 3: like in the most physical sport that there is, can
- 10:59Speaker 3: win with his mind and you know, have that unique
- 11:01Speaker 3: skill amongst.
- 11:02Speaker 1: A batch of.
- 11:04Speaker 7: Him.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I can make the argument if you want to just
- 11:07Speaker 1: turn you know, in just terms of pure athleticism and
- 11:11Speaker 1: you know physical to me, Elway would be probably number one, sure, right,
- 11:16Speaker 1: But he wasn't the quarterback that Tom Brady was, you know, right, the.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Quarterback you know what he could say, like the athlete
- 11:23Speaker 3: and all that. So right, I don't let these things
- 11:25Speaker 3: bother me too much. It's great to like, all right,
- 11:27Speaker 3: what we're talking about today.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Let's jump into some rankings.
- 11:30Speaker 3: But Chris Sims has kind of made a career out
- 11:32Speaker 3: of just putting Brady low in his rankings, and then
- 11:35Speaker 3: everybody reacts to it, and you know, meanwhile, I don't
- 11:37Speaker 3: know how much traction he gets with other fan bases
- 11:39Speaker 3: who are like, yep.
- 11:40Speaker 1: We're number one again.
- 11:42Speaker 3: You knew exactly what was coming the second you opened
- 11:44Speaker 3: it up, engagement.
- 11:45Speaker 7: And the other one was just you know.
- 11:46Speaker 3: ESPN coming out with with their current rankings, which had
- 11:50Speaker 3: our friend Brake may number eight, So his current rankings, So.
- 11:54Speaker 1: What's the Josh Allen number one? But what's the title
- 11:57Speaker 1: of that list?
- 11:58Speaker 3: So this is they talked to, you know, various executives
- 12:02Speaker 3: around the league asking them who.
- 12:04Speaker 7: Are the best players at his positioned?
- 12:07Speaker 3: It's with research and film study helped from Matt Bowen
- 12:09Speaker 3: at ESPN Research. So more than seventy voters submitted a
- 12:12Speaker 3: ballot on at least one position, so a bunch of
- 12:14Speaker 3: people in the NFL. So that's fine, these guys. It's
- 12:17Speaker 3: not just one guy saying here are my power rankings.
- 12:20Speaker 3: But they had Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes up at
- 12:23Speaker 3: the top, Matthew Stafford still hanging in there, Joe Burrow,
- 12:26Speaker 3: Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert and Drake May as
- 12:32Speaker 3: number eight. But I mean, for me, if you're starting
- 12:34Speaker 3: a team and you're talking about who do you want
- 12:36Speaker 3: from here going forward, like I'd be hard pressed to take.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Somebody over Drake May.
- 12:42Speaker 3: I mean, and I might say Joe Burrow, but you know,
- 12:44Speaker 3: he's had injury issues, right, He's had what's even gonna
- 12:46Speaker 3: look like after.
- 12:47Speaker 1: You know, I mean, yeah, to me that that one's
- 12:49Speaker 1: a little bit more debatable because Drake May's had the
- 12:52Speaker 1: one great year yeah, you know, yeah, And there's like
- 12:56Speaker 1: a lot of factors pro and con.
- 12:59Speaker 3: I feel like, like one is, it's his first year
- 13:01Speaker 3: with Josh McDaniels, it's his second year in the league. Uh,
- 13:04Speaker 3: you know, he obviously is the law, you know, the
- 13:06Speaker 3: youngest kid on all of these rankings. But you know
- 13:10Speaker 3: then you talk about, well, the schedule and he wasn't
- 13:12Speaker 3: great in the playoffs, and it's you know, all those
- 13:14Speaker 3: things are all true.
- 13:15Speaker 7: I just you know, everything being equal.
- 13:18Speaker 3: If you're starting a team tomorrow and you want long
- 13:21Speaker 3: term competitiveness and you know, to be in the mix,
- 13:24Speaker 3: I think Drake maybeould be in there.
- 13:26Speaker 1: A good investment, safe investment, you know, But I remember
- 13:29Speaker 1: after a one and after Brady won the Super Bowl
- 13:32Speaker 1: that first year as a starter, you know, people will say, well,
- 13:36Speaker 1: you know, he did it that year, but you know,
- 13:38Speaker 1: we'll see, we don't know if he's great yet. And
- 13:41Speaker 1: it's fair. I think you have to. Yeah, you have
- 13:44Speaker 1: to follow it up. You have to. You know, the
- 13:46Speaker 1: definition of greatness is doing it time after time. And
- 13:49Speaker 1: that's who you become, is that great player. It's not oh,
- 13:53Speaker 1: he did it once or once in a while.
- 13:56Speaker 3: It's the consistency that makes you great. And I kind
- 13:58Speaker 3: of like this stuff, like I don't want everybody being
- 14:01Speaker 3: like the Patriots are back, like, let's prove it again.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Let's you know, knock them down. Yet the schedule was easy,
- 14:08Speaker 3: they you know, really good injury luck. They made the
- 14:11Speaker 3: most of their opportunities. But I think I just keep
- 14:14Speaker 3: going back to anytime we talk.
- 14:15Speaker 1: About this stuff's like, they were a good football team
- 14:16Speaker 1: last year.
- 14:17Speaker 3: I don't know where they ranked or how you want
- 14:19Speaker 3: to like step, but they were a good football team.
- 14:20Speaker 1: I've seen bad football teams the last year exactly.
- 14:22Speaker 7: They were a good football They were a.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Sound football team. They didn't most of the time, they
- 14:26Speaker 1: didn't beat themselves. Yeah, and that's why they want a
- 14:30Speaker 1: lot of those games.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Somebody's got to beat all the bad teams. Like other
- 14:33Speaker 3: teams had bad schedules too, Like.
- 14:34Speaker 8: So many good teams lost to bad teams this year too.
- 14:37Speaker 8: It was such a funky year.
- 14:39Speaker 3: They were the ones that I was looking on, you know,
- 14:41Speaker 3: Josh Allen, I thought, because people were talking about Drake's
- 14:45Speaker 3: playoff performance, and that's why you say, well, Josh Allen
- 14:48Speaker 3: had some terrible turnovers against Denver.
- 14:50Speaker 8: I mean, also ahead of Drake on this list.
- 14:53Speaker 1: But both those guys married to and I guess Dan
- 14:56Speaker 1: Rolovsky on that list that you were just talking about
- 14:59Speaker 1: with Drake. Uh Anthony says uh Orlowsky had a comment
- 15:03Speaker 1: on X He said, you basically can switch QBS eight
- 15:07Speaker 1: through twelve and see the same results.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Okay, eight through tweighty through twelve. Jared Goff is ninth,
- 15:13Speaker 3: Caleb Williams is tenth. We have some honorable mentions here
- 15:17Speaker 3: from Sam Darnold, Jayden Daniels, who might be you know,
- 15:20Speaker 3: poised to get back.
- 15:21Speaker 7: Into that list. Jordan Love. You know there are some
- 15:23Speaker 7: guys that he's above of that.
- 15:24Speaker 8: I remind me where you put Dak.
- 15:26Speaker 7: Dak was like sixth. I believe so, yes, sixth. I
- 15:30Speaker 7: don't know.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I know Evan's a big Dak fan. I'd love to
- 15:32Speaker 3: hear him kind of talk about Dak a little bit.
- 15:34Speaker 3: But you know, at a certain point, when does it
- 15:36Speaker 3: start to say and look, I'm not I know, like
- 15:39Speaker 3: Drake went to the Super Bowl last year and he
- 15:40Speaker 3: got some breaks, but like Josh Allen has a mino
- 15:43Speaker 3: super Bowl yet Lemar Jackson has Superber from the Charger Carbard,
- 15:46Speaker 3: has him been a super Bowl?
- 15:47Speaker 1: Yeah, And I don't, you know, not like, oh that's
- 15:49Speaker 1: the the thing.
- 15:51Speaker 3: But if I'm a fan watching my team and my
- 15:53Speaker 3: quarterback found a way to kind of sneak through, like
- 15:56Speaker 3: sometimes those things are kind of fluky one off years,
- 15:58Speaker 3: and I found myself kind of looking at Dan Marino
- 16:01Speaker 3: like why did the Marino go to the Super Bowl?
- 16:02Speaker 7: And then he kind of you know, what was the.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Reason he never went back? How come he never went back?
- 16:06Speaker 3: Great player, you know, had pretty good weapons, I would
- 16:08Speaker 3: say with you know, with Duper and Clayton over the years.
- 16:10Speaker 7: But but Drake got there and you know, he made
- 16:13Speaker 7: the plays that he had to make.
- 16:14Speaker 3: We'll it repeat this year. I don't know, But from
- 16:17Speaker 3: the sample size we've had, he's been able to, you know,
- 16:20Speaker 3: win some games that you know, and that was a
- 16:21Speaker 3: big question for me.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I'll still think he needs.
- 16:24Speaker 3: To go through a few more of those situations where
- 16:26Speaker 3: you're like, they they're going to lose today, they ain't
- 16:28Speaker 3: got it, and then all of a sudden he just
- 16:29Speaker 3: pulls it out somehow, And I think those are the
- 16:32Speaker 3: games that I'll be excited to watch for This year is.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Gonna be more competitive. I think, you know, yeah, these
- 16:36Speaker 1: good teams. Yep, love it all right. Eight five five
- 16:41Speaker 1: past five hundred is the Hotline podcast at Patriots dot Com.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Is the way to email the show any early thoughts
- 16:50Speaker 1: in the newsletter. This this is while we have the year.
- 16:52Speaker 1: It's very detailed. One last week I thought I love
- 16:54Speaker 1: Last week I thought was really last week.
- 16:57Speaker 8: I was just kind of like throwing it together because
- 17:00Speaker 8: I don't know if it's because we've a lot of
- 17:01Speaker 8: people upstairs have been out of the office, but not
- 17:04Speaker 8: as many PU clips have been going on, like the YouTube.
- 17:06Speaker 8: I was like, what am I even going to do
- 17:08Speaker 8: this week? And sometimes that's the case and like Thursday night,
- 17:11Speaker 8: I'm like, what the hell am I going to write?
- 17:13Speaker 9: And you could tell freend liked it. There was a
- 17:14Speaker 9: good job, Alex.
- 17:16Speaker 8: I love what I get a good job like nice
- 17:18Speaker 8: on this, you know, and beyond the approved or good
- 17:21Speaker 8: with me?
- 17:22Speaker 1: Fine, No, it struck me as a really good newsletter.
- 17:26Speaker 8: I think there's going to be a call to I
- 17:29Speaker 8: feel like next week feels like a good week for
- 17:31Speaker 8: guests that listener part two, we'll have the guys back,
- 17:35Speaker 8: and there was some leftovers from the first time. I
- 17:37Speaker 8: thought it was kind of fun.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Well, I was really hoping Paul would be here.
- 17:42Speaker 8: Because well, if we do it next week, he will be.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yeah. He got educated by a few of our emails
- 17:47Speaker 1: for something he said about soccer, soccer in Europe or
- 17:52Speaker 1: in England specifically always having to be different and changing
- 17:56Speaker 1: the names and people you know, factually makes they were first.
- 18:02Speaker 1: They were first, their words and their lexicon came before ours.
- 18:08Speaker 1: So if anything, we're the ones that decided to change everything,
- 18:12Speaker 1: you know. So it was a good point made by
- 18:16Speaker 1: more than one of our listeners.
- 18:18Speaker 3: So a guy on the boat yesterday had it did
- 18:20Speaker 3: you wear a Baron Munich shirt?
- 18:22Speaker 1: Was that what the Bayron Munich? I read? I wore
- 18:24Speaker 1: that in Frankfurt.
- 18:25Speaker 7: Yeah, I ran that guy on the boat was fishing. Yes,
- 18:27Speaker 7: I had that on.
- 18:27Speaker 3: So you know, so I didn't watch much of the games,
- 18:30Speaker 3: but i'll talk tune in today. I mean, these you're
- 18:31Speaker 3: getting rallied down to the great teams, the great players.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it should be too good. I mean, France looks
- 18:37Speaker 1: like it's the team to beat. They're playing Spain and
- 18:41Speaker 1: then tomorrow's big one Argentina in England. It's going to
- 18:45Speaker 1: be They're.
- 18:46Speaker 8: Both awesome games. I didn't really watch anything over the weekend.
- 18:49Speaker 8: I was just I was to it's just too nice
- 18:51Speaker 8: out to care. You know, my teams are out, so yeah,
- 18:55Speaker 8: but this week is going to be fun.
- 18:57Speaker 3: What about did you find the home run Derby last
- 19:01Speaker 3: night on Netflix?
- 19:03Speaker 1: Listen? I didn't stick it out, and I guess, you know,
- 19:07Speaker 1: it got really competitive at the end, but I was born.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I tapped out three quarters of the way through the
- 19:14Speaker 1: first round, you know, after ben Rice. I think I
- 19:18Speaker 1: tapped out. It's just the same thing over and over again,
- 19:20Speaker 1: guys swinging the bat and yes the balls are majestic,
- 19:25Speaker 1: but it's the same thing over and over. And it's
- 19:27Speaker 1: a long night. I mean it was shorter than other ones.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Because they took away the clock, I guess made it shorter,
- 19:33Speaker 1: but it was still close to three hours. Didn't get
- 19:37Speaker 1: over till like a quarter to eleven. Started at eight.
- 19:40Speaker 1: That's too long for just watching guys swing the bat.
- 19:44Speaker 1: So I don't know what they need to do, but
- 19:48Speaker 1: maybe targets that you hit out there, like you know,
- 19:52Speaker 1: the brises or at the bull or something like that.
- 19:55Speaker 8: Like topic golf but baseball home run.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Something like that, just to live in it up because
- 20:00Speaker 1: it's the same thing over and over all night.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Well, you've just been flying high on the Red Sox
- 20:05Speaker 3: win streaks. You're like, I don't you know, I don't
- 20:07Speaker 3: need this right now.
- 20:08Speaker 1: No, let's get back to what counts. Red Sox nine
- 20:11Speaker 1: game winning streak, two games under five hundred, they were
- 20:14Speaker 1: fourteen or fifteen, it's so half a game out of
- 20:17Speaker 1: the wild Card, let's go. I just I always watch it,
- 20:20Speaker 1: like I just hear like that was a long time.
- 20:24Speaker 1: That seemed like forever ago. I don't I don't watch
- 20:26Speaker 1: a lot of them going on, but coming out of
- 20:29Speaker 1: the All Star it's going to be a big test
- 20:30Speaker 1: for that. But anyway, it's always it.
- 20:31Speaker 3: But it's just always I always have this experience with
- 20:34Speaker 3: the Red Sox where you know, they've started pretty bad
- 20:36Speaker 3: the last couple of years and then they make a run.
- 20:37Speaker 1: But like when I flip on you know, Paul's.
- 20:40Speaker 7: Shows, and I just hear about how horrible they are.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Right and it's just and then all of a sudden,
- 20:45Speaker 3: like and I don't really get them, like, oh, okay,
- 20:46Speaker 3: they're horrible. I don't you know, I'm not really watching.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I don't really have an opinion about how good or
- 20:50Speaker 3: bad they are. And also they go on a win
- 20:52Speaker 3: streak and they're kind of back in it, you know,
- 20:53Speaker 3: last year they're back in it, and I'm like, well
- 20:55Speaker 3: I think that bad or like what, like, well, that's
- 20:57Speaker 3: the thing if you listen, like you said, if you
- 20:59Speaker 3: listen into some of the people on Paul's shows, like.
- 21:04Speaker 1: You would think this was the worst team to ever
- 21:09Speaker 1: and they were playing really bad. The thing about it,
- 21:12Speaker 1: and I don't blame anymore for being frustrated with how
- 21:16Speaker 1: they played, is they were tops in the league in
- 21:19Speaker 1: defense and close to tops in the league and pitching,
- 21:24Speaker 1: And so you want, like, is that sustainable? Is playing
- 21:29Speaker 1: that bad that sustainable? And it isn't. When you have
- 21:33Speaker 1: a team like that. You know, eventually it's gonna even out,
- 21:37Speaker 1: it's gonna you're gonna come back to the middle somehow.
- 21:39Speaker 1: So like, yeah, do I think that they're as good
- 21:42Speaker 1: as the Dodgers? Of course not. But they're not as
- 21:45Speaker 1: bad as they were. They never were, you know, And
- 21:49Speaker 1: so now we're seeing, you know, the pitching has held
- 21:53Speaker 1: up and the hitting is getting a little better, and
- 21:57Speaker 1: so now they're starting to win games. They're not gonna
- 22:01Speaker 1: not lose games again, of course they will. They'll probably
- 22:04Speaker 1: end up around five hundred.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Is this a function of just baseball as a sport
- 22:08Speaker 3: or is it also and or the length of the
- 22:12Speaker 3: season where there's a lot more ups and downs and
- 22:15Speaker 3: lulls to the journey.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Like I think for some teams they're just bad, they're
- 22:18Speaker 1: just you know, whether it's small market, low payroll, they're
- 22:22Speaker 1: just not as good as the other teams. But that's
- 22:24Speaker 1: not the case with the Red Sox. Their payrolls pretty high.
- 22:27Speaker 1: And I know people are calling them cheap these days
- 22:29Speaker 1: and everything, but they are paying guys. They're paying guys.
- 22:32Speaker 1: But you look at the Red Sox situation and they
- 22:36Speaker 1: lost a lot of guys, you know, not that Trevor
- 22:39Speaker 1: story is high in the list, but you lost your race.
- 22:42Speaker 1: You didn't even start the season with Hawk, who used
- 22:45Speaker 1: to be one of your better pitchers. Now Early's hurt, Holliday,
- 22:49Speaker 1: I always call them Roman Holiday, Roman, Tony's hurt. You know,
- 22:54Speaker 1: Marcelo Meyer. I don't know what's going on with him.
- 22:57Speaker 1: They send him down to Fort Myers just to get
- 22:59Speaker 1: him the hell out of there. I'm convinced because he
- 23:02Speaker 1: was just a bad apple. I guess you know they've
- 23:06Speaker 1: they've lost a lot of guys that you know they're waiting,
- 23:10Speaker 1: hoping to get back at some point. So I think
- 23:13Speaker 1: there's situation. You have to look at it in context,
- 23:16Speaker 1: and you really can't say, well, this is like an
- 23:18Speaker 1: overall trend.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Now it's like you just keep in the in the
- 23:22Speaker 3: hunt after the All Star back and now it's like,
- 23:24Speaker 3: all right, put up or shut up. If you're a
- 23:26Speaker 3: good team, then play be a good team into August
- 23:28Speaker 3: and you know, September to make that push.
- 23:30Speaker 7: But so I guess they've set the table.
- 23:32Speaker 1: You must be happy. I think it's worth watching. I mean,
- 23:34Speaker 1: they fire their manager, let's not forget that. But more
- 23:37Speaker 1: importantly to me, they fired that drive Line company that
- 23:40Speaker 1: was supposedly telling them how to hit. And ever since
- 23:44Speaker 1: they did that, you've seen market improvement and a lot
- 23:47Speaker 1: of the guys like Caleb durban who couldn't hit the
- 23:50Speaker 1: broadside of a barn while they were there, and now
- 23:54Speaker 1: he's hitting and he's hitting for power. You know, guys
- 23:57Speaker 1: like that are much improved since they got rid of
- 24:00Speaker 1: Drive Line.
- 24:01Speaker 8: Was that who was on the first who's the first coach?
- 24:06Speaker 8: Pete Fatcy seems that for a long time. I wonder
- 24:10Speaker 8: if it was like an issue just developing the young
- 24:12Speaker 8: guys hitting or I don't know.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I don't know, but Caleb Durbin is not necessarily that young.
- 24:17Speaker 1: He's been around a little bit and like he fell apart,
- 24:20Speaker 1: but now he's doing really well. You know, like uh,
- 24:25Speaker 1: Tony Siegler, I know he's called Anthony, but uh like
- 24:29Speaker 1: he's come up and you know, people say, well, you
- 24:31Speaker 1: can't sustain that. Well, hopefully, you know, he can be
- 24:35Speaker 1: somewhere near that. But then Anthony comes back, Roman, Anthony
- 24:39Speaker 1: comes back. You know, we'll see. So I think there's hope.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And then the big question is once they get to
- 24:45Speaker 1: the trade deadline, are they buyers or sellers? I think
- 24:48Speaker 1: three four weeks ago, people say they have to sell,
- 24:51Speaker 1: but I think now, I think there's some guys they
- 24:54Speaker 1: should sell and and not get rentals, but get someone
- 24:59Speaker 1: who will be on the team for three or four years.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, it'll be a fun summer. Otherwise you're
- 25:04Speaker 3: watching like the NBA Summer League. Like I'm looking for
- 25:06Speaker 3: anything to watch on TV yesterday.
- 25:08Speaker 1: And like NBA Summer League.
- 25:10Speaker 7: Oh this is I mean, I was like, no sports
- 25:13Speaker 7: going on right now.
- 25:15Speaker 1: But yeah, it's uh, you know, limping through football, come
- 25:17Speaker 1: back and stay.
- 25:18Speaker 8: Yeah. No, I found myself wondering when I was listening
- 25:20Speaker 8: to you guys on Thursday, is that is the lore
- 25:23Speaker 8: you dropped about you and the Red Sox and like
- 25:26Speaker 8: the key chains and your petition to get them. That
- 25:30Speaker 8: is that kind of like where your loyalty came from
- 25:33Speaker 8: because you're watching them no matter what.
- 25:35Speaker 1: No, I mean, like I said, when I was like
- 25:37Speaker 1: in first grade kindergarten, lived living in Rhode Island, you
- 25:42Speaker 1: know Channel six, it was Yaz Bread and Rico Petrocelli,
- 25:46Speaker 1: and you know you kind of grew up with the
- 25:47Speaker 1: Red Sox in your blood. So even though I moved
- 25:50Speaker 1: to New Jersey, and became a Mets fan. During that time,
- 25:53Speaker 1: I was always still a Red Sox fan. So Red
- 25:55Speaker 1: Sox have always been, you know, part of part of
- 25:59Speaker 1: who I am.
- 25:59Speaker 8: Like the timeline of your life and like the ages
- 26:02Speaker 8: that you're a fan of this team.
- 26:04Speaker 7: That's a good graphic.
- 26:05Speaker 8: Maybe that's a good newsletter, idea, your idea, just fandom timeline.
- 26:10Speaker 7: Paul would enjoy that one.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I think he would also like to have like the
- 26:14Speaker 3: various championships won by each organization.
- 26:16Speaker 8: So we'll have read do it and then we'll have
- 26:18Speaker 8: Paul's sidebar commentary. Okay, that has legs.
- 26:22Speaker 7: Yeah, that's funny.
- 26:23Speaker 3: And don't eat lettuce. That's also what we're learning these days, folks.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Oh boy, don't let us.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I am growing it though, if you need any you're
- 26:30Speaker 1: growing your own lettuce. What kind.
- 26:33Speaker 8: Romaine?
- 26:34Speaker 1: Great lettuce?
- 26:35Speaker 8: Iceberg? I have like a tricolored one. I no spinach,
- 26:40Speaker 8: no arugula. I have a hydro tower right now, so
- 26:43Speaker 8: I'm growing it.
- 26:44Speaker 7: Out of a which are cool.
- 26:45Speaker 8: Really, yeah, it's awesome.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I would have ten of them if I So, how
- 26:50Speaker 1: big is your plot?
- 26:52Speaker 8: It's a container garden, so all my plants are in
- 26:54Speaker 8: containers because it's in the side of my house. It
- 26:57Speaker 8: was like paved for a driveway, like imagine like you
- 26:59Speaker 8: would play a boat on the side there. It's about
- 27:04Speaker 8: ten feet wide by probably thirty feet deep, and it's
- 27:10Speaker 8: just tomato, plants, cucumbers. I got a lot of stuff.
- 27:14Speaker 8: I'll bring you guys in some produce. I went to
- 27:16Speaker 8: the farmers market this weekend. I was like, these guys
- 27:18Speaker 8: don't have jack on my my fredgues right now, My
- 27:21Speaker 8: stuff looks.
- 27:22Speaker 1: So much better. Do you use miracle grower?
- 27:24Speaker 8: Oh no, all organic, all natural?
- 27:27Speaker 7: You're sat Now you can start a podcast gardening podcast.
- 27:29Speaker 3: You know.
- 27:31Speaker 8: San Francisco and by Martha Stewart era guys.
- 27:35Speaker 1: All right, okay, I know on the cape it's still
- 27:38Speaker 1: the pictures of the bro stuff. Yeah, the soil so sandy.
- 27:42Speaker 8: But you could do containers or like a raised bed.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Raised bed.
- 27:45Speaker 8: Yeah, there's some It's a lot of work. It's a
- 27:48Speaker 8: lot of work. It's funny because I'm like, wow, it's
- 27:51Speaker 8: I only had to spend thousands of dollars to build
- 27:54Speaker 8: this garden up to save a little bit of money.
- 27:56Speaker 8: My grocery billion, you know what I mean.
- 27:57Speaker 1: So we we're like in twenty forty you'll start to
- 28:00Speaker 1: your return on that. I think so well.
- 28:01Speaker 8: I got the return on cucumbers already, eleven cucumbers harvested already,
- 28:06Speaker 8: tomatoes good, all.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Right, okay, uh eight five five past five hundred. Let's
- 28:12Speaker 1: let's start checking out what people have to say and
- 28:15Speaker 1: what they're writing about. Again. I wish Paul was here
- 28:18Speaker 1: because people were really schooling him. And uh, it's always
- 28:22Speaker 1: good to call out his stubbornness.
- 28:24Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, sure.
- 28:26Speaker 1: His parochialism. Anthony's in Seattle. What's up? Anthony?
- 28:31Speaker 3: Hey?
- 28:31Speaker 10: What's up? Bred? Who got deuced? And Alex today?
- 28:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you got it.
- 28:35Speaker 10: I don't Alex making time for us, of course, just
- 28:39Speaker 10: for you, especially when it's being right now. Hey, you
- 28:44Speaker 10: didn't get a chance, Deuce. You did not get a
- 28:46Speaker 10: chance to ask me before I got off the phone
- 28:49Speaker 10: when I called it on Thursday. But yes, I am
- 28:51Speaker 10: going to be going to the opener.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Nice.
- 28:54Speaker 10: I have not bought tickets yet. I'm just gonna i'
- 28:55Speaker 10: wait until it gets closer to game time and the
- 28:57Speaker 10: pranks will come down. But I don't want to wait
- 29:00Speaker 10: too late, because obviously I don't want to get sold out.
- 29:02Speaker 10: But a funny quick story my I went with to
- 29:05Speaker 10: the twenty twelve game. Me and my cousin went together.
- 29:08Speaker 10: He's a diehard Seahawks fan, and yeah, and then so
- 29:13Speaker 10: and then obviously you know the four year rotation in
- 29:15Speaker 10: AfD NFC and then the eight year rotation because they
- 29:18Speaker 10: alternate home and away. So here we are, you know,
- 29:21Speaker 10: on on the on the clocks for twenty twenty and
- 29:24Speaker 10: of course COVID hits so we weren't able to go
- 29:26Speaker 10: to the game so because they weren't allowing fans at
- 29:29Speaker 10: the time. So it was really nice for obviously we
- 29:32Speaker 10: were back on the clock for twenty twenty eight. But
- 29:34Speaker 10: then I saw at the end of last year, at
- 29:37Speaker 10: the end of the season where they're going in the
- 29:38Speaker 10: week eighteen and they had announced the twenty twenty six
- 29:42Speaker 10: point opponents. But the two that were outstanding was I
- 29:45Speaker 10: think it was like Baltimore Pittsburgh because they had to
- 29:49Speaker 10: play for their division, and then we would be traveling
- 29:53Speaker 10: to the winner of Seattle and San Francisco because we're
- 29:56Speaker 10: we're on that rotation of that when they added the
- 29:59Speaker 10: seventeenth game that conference things, So yeah, I was telling
- 30:02Speaker 10: people all all all week at work, I said, hey,
- 30:04Speaker 10: and they obviously they shifted the game to Saturday. So
- 30:06Speaker 10: I told everybody at work, I said, hey, I'll be
- 30:08Speaker 10: a Hawks fan on Saturday. I'll be back to being
- 30:11Speaker 10: a Patriots fan on Sunday. But I need you guys
- 30:13Speaker 10: to win this game to to bring my Patriots to town.
- 30:15Speaker 10: So hey, quick thing, and I hope I don't want
- 30:19Speaker 10: to take too long, but I'm I'm going to the
- 30:25Speaker 10: day one of the Egos joint practices on Wednesday of
- 30:30Speaker 10: the nineteenth, and so two quick questions about that and
- 30:33Speaker 10: I'll get off the air. One, we're going to be
- 30:35Speaker 10: in town like a couple hours early, and we're just
- 30:37Speaker 10: going to go straight.
- 30:37Speaker 11: To the game.
- 30:38Speaker 10: And wait, do you line up?
- 30:39Speaker 12: Like?
- 30:39Speaker 10: Do they do you go like straight to the main gate,
- 30:41Speaker 10: Like like if you were going to the game and
- 30:43Speaker 10: they fund you, funnel you to the practice field, where's
- 30:45Speaker 10: a good place to line up? And then the other
- 30:47Speaker 10: question is, will you guys be doing a live show.
- 30:49Speaker 10: I'd love to be able to give you guys a
- 30:50Speaker 10: wave or maybe shoot an email or call in while
- 30:52Speaker 10: I'm there and you say hi to you guys, Okay, thank.
- 30:55Speaker 1: You, Yeah, Anthony. So the answer to the question is
- 30:58Speaker 1: you they line up on the west side of the stadium,
- 31:01Speaker 1: behind the stadium.
- 31:03Speaker 8: I think it's like the CVS gate, Yeah, the CBS gate.
- 31:07Speaker 1: So it's not like if it was a game. So
- 31:10Speaker 1: you want to go to the west side of the
- 31:12Speaker 1: stadium where the hotel is, and just go to the
- 31:16Speaker 1: rear of the stadium the CVS gate. That's where they
- 31:18Speaker 1: line up. And I think practice is like a ten
- 31:22Speaker 1: ten thirty or something like that, so probably you know,
- 31:25Speaker 1: people line up hours an hour.
- 31:28Speaker 8: Oh not hours. There's a group of kids from the
- 31:31Speaker 8: Providence area and Rhode Island. They camp out in the
- 31:33Speaker 8: parking lot all night.
- 31:34Speaker 1: They do it every year, So you don't have to
- 31:36Speaker 1: do that.
- 31:36Speaker 8: You don't.
- 31:37Speaker 1: It's not like you know, it's there's no assigned seating.
- 31:40Speaker 1: It's all free. Parking is free. But that's where you go.
- 31:44Speaker 1: You go on the west side of the stadium, behind
- 31:47Speaker 1: on the back of the stadium, and that's where they
- 31:49Speaker 1: lead you right into the stands for the practice field.
- 31:53Speaker 7: Yeah, those will be ten to fifteen as.
- 31:55Speaker 1: And then yes, we will be live for that joint
- 31:58Speaker 1: practice on the nineteenth. We'll be up in the ramp
- 32:01Speaker 1: so you can wave to us up there.
- 32:05Speaker 7: Uh, we'll come down afterwards or anything specialists.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Yeah, who knows, you might be there before. Yeah, which
- 32:11Speaker 1: changing the crowd. You might be hyping the crowd this year.
- 32:13Speaker 8: They haven't asked me yet, but Anthony email me.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:17Speaker 3: But yeah, well, I mean we'll do like a show
- 32:19Speaker 3: during stretching in the early parts and then we'll probably
- 32:22Speaker 3: come down so you know, hang around afterwards because a
- 32:24Speaker 3: lot of the players will do autograph sessions, especially even
- 32:27Speaker 3: the Eagles and Colts would will.
- 32:28Speaker 7: Probably do it as well.
- 32:29Speaker 1: But we're always around there. It's always awesome to hear. Uh,
- 32:33Speaker 1: you know, our pitch.
- 32:33Speaker 7: It's unfiltered listeners when we go out there, you know,
- 32:37Speaker 7: you know, it's great. I love hearing.
- 32:38Speaker 8: Isn't that the first time you always met the kid
- 32:40Speaker 8: from the draft? Wasn't he trained?
- 32:43Speaker 13: Uh?
- 32:44Speaker 1: No, maybe I'm wrong. No, I think there's a lot
- 32:46Speaker 1: of kids.
- 32:47Speaker 3: But we met one kid at the draft party and
- 32:49Speaker 3: he called back in from Rhode Island and I'm blanking
- 32:52Speaker 3: on his name. I'm sure it'll come to me a second.
- 32:54Speaker 1: But no, it's great.
- 32:55Speaker 7: I love you know, try to bring some T shirts
- 32:56Speaker 7: down if I can.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah, And it's been our We've noticed that
- 33:01Speaker 1: when we have these joint practices. The visiting team is
- 33:04Speaker 1: very gracious in terms of giving autographs.
- 33:06Speaker 8: Especially the Eagles.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it's almost like they show off and they want
- 33:10Speaker 1: to show up the home team.
- 33:11Speaker 8: Even their security guard was signing autographs. He was the
- 33:13Speaker 8: last person on the signing autograph. Yeah, big Don.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Famous right, Yeah, yeah yeah yeah A J. Brown last year,
- 33:20Speaker 3: just or was two years ago.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Yeah. So if you're looking for.
- 33:23Speaker 8: Like Jalen Hurts total foreshadowing.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Some of the Eagles players, you'll have a good chance
- 33:28Speaker 1: of getting in Saquon Barkley.
- 33:29Speaker 3: I've just been telling all the kids that I run
- 33:31Speaker 3: into around here that I feel like the Patriots have
- 33:34Speaker 3: a little resurgence this year.
- 33:35Speaker 1: I've been like talking to a lot of kids who are.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Like when the Patriots, well, yeah, you know, they're into
- 33:39Speaker 3: the Patriots again.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Yeah that's cool. We got like, you know, we've have
- 33:42Speaker 1: a young quarterback, whereas in the last few years of
- 33:45Speaker 1: the Patriots with Emor Brady was an old guy. Yeah,
- 33:48Speaker 1: you know, so like the kids are relating to Drake May,
- 33:50Speaker 1: they really are.
- 33:51Speaker 8: I try to always like I was on the Cape
- 33:53Speaker 8: for the fourth with my younger cousins, like seventeen eighteen
- 33:56Speaker 8: I would like to like ask them about like what
- 33:58Speaker 8: they're watching, what they're in to where they're like watching
- 34:01Speaker 8: sports and stuff. The kids are loving YouTube, They're loving
- 34:04Speaker 8: Drake May. They're like, it's the Patriots are the hottest
- 34:06Speaker 8: thing in town again.
- 34:08Speaker 1: We really are Drake Drake May May.
- 34:10Speaker 8: Yeah, and you can't worry about Anne Michael.
- 34:13Speaker 7: Well, I ran into somebody from North Carolina.
- 34:16Speaker 3: It's actually like my babysitter, like we all go to
- 34:18Speaker 3: the same beach and I haven't seen this woman. She
- 34:19Speaker 3: babysap me when I was like five. But they're they're
- 34:22Speaker 3: from North Carolina, and they're like.
- 34:23Speaker 1: How's Drake doing? We love Drake. I mean that's our
- 34:25Speaker 1: second team now. You know.
- 34:26Speaker 8: Anne Michael's case for a lot of people down in Charlotte.
- 34:29Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 34:30Speaker 8: Yeah. One of my best friends moved to Huntersville in
- 34:33Speaker 8: the last couple years. I think that's where Drake's from.
- 34:35Speaker 8: And whenever she tells people she's from Massachusetts, they literally
- 34:38Speaker 8: bring up Drake May and she's like, I don't know football,
- 34:41Speaker 8: but that's so great that you like the Patriots.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Just random with like Bill Belichick coaching North Carolina, there's
- 34:48Speaker 3: a lot of you know, there's just a weird connection
- 34:50Speaker 3: going on. We even get a ton of calls from
- 34:51Speaker 3: North Carolina too. There's group of North Carolina.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Steve up North wants to know with Paul Gone, how
- 34:57Speaker 1: does it feel to talk and not be interrupted? It's
- 35:01Speaker 1: very freeing. I I don't know.
- 35:04Speaker 3: I I love Sometimes it's like I start to talk
- 35:07Speaker 3: about things and I know how Paul feels about it.
- 35:09Speaker 3: I'm like, well, I want him to chime in or
- 35:11Speaker 3: I don't want him to chime in on it. You know,
- 35:12Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, I can actually get a point out.
- 35:15Speaker 7: But now I miss I miss Paulie we uh.
- 35:17Speaker 3: I mean a lot of the best conversation happens off
- 35:19Speaker 3: the air when you know he comes in and we talked.
- 35:22Speaker 8: But uh pow wows.
- 35:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I miss Paul.
- 35:27Speaker 7: I like having them.
- 35:29Speaker 14: I just.
- 35:32Speaker 3: It's also just too like Paul, like how much he cares,
- 35:35Speaker 3: like you know, like it just come out and be
- 35:37Speaker 3: like somebody tweeted it me, somebody tweeted something I didn't like.
- 35:43Speaker 8: I know, I was sending him like soccer breakdowns from
- 35:47Speaker 8: the week where we were talking about why it just
- 35:49Speaker 8: hasn't caught on in the US whatever, whatever. I guess
- 35:51Speaker 8: A bunch of fans were sending him the same exact
- 35:54Speaker 8: oh right tweets. He was like, I know, I read it.
- 35:56Speaker 8: Everyone sent this to me ten times.
- 35:59Speaker 3: Yeah, well, Paul, you know, he gets a lot like
- 36:02Speaker 3: you should be able to have your opinion. Everyone can
- 36:04Speaker 3: have their opinion right, Like Paul's very much like everyone.
- 36:06Speaker 1: What's wrong with having an opinion right? You know?
- 36:08Speaker 3: But if you're on the other end of the spectrum
- 36:10Speaker 3: and you have opinion doesn't agree with that doesn't mean
- 36:12Speaker 3: that he's not going to come at you and yell
- 36:13Speaker 3: at you for it.
- 36:14Speaker 7: He'll love your your right to have that opinion.
- 36:16Speaker 1: But he'll still want to yell at you about it.
- 36:18Speaker 1: But he uses that as deflection because if you disagree
- 36:23Speaker 1: with him, Oh, I can't have my opinion.
- 36:25Speaker 8: Right when people tell me what to think.
- 36:27Speaker 1: That's what he says.
- 36:29Speaker 3: That's a big hot button with Paul that I've noticed
- 36:31Speaker 3: over the years, like anybody telling him what to think
- 36:33Speaker 3: or you know, not saying an opinion is okay.
- 36:37Speaker 7: Italian, just just tell him to be better.
- 36:40Speaker 1: That really gets that. He hates that. Well, I'm not
- 36:44Speaker 1: your dude, Tyler says, got to say great job to everyone.
- 36:48Speaker 1: During the off season, You've been great. Also, Pu is
- 36:51Speaker 1: so much better and amazing with Alex coming in more
- 36:55Speaker 1: than just Thursdays. You got to say her boyfriend is lucky.
- 36:59Speaker 1: I hope I get to meet you guys soon. You
- 37:01Speaker 1: get the other call on Thursday. Sobody, that was really nice.
- 37:05Speaker 1: That was really nice.
- 37:06Speaker 3: You got to make like a mix of those calls,
- 37:07Speaker 3: so you know, whenever you're feeling a little blue, he's
- 37:09Speaker 3: just you know, the Alex company.
- 37:11Speaker 8: Is that too narci to say?
- 37:12Speaker 6: So?
- 37:15Speaker 8: I don't get that sad ever, but if it comes
- 37:17Speaker 8: to that, I will definitely have Mattie come to three.
- 37:21Speaker 12: You know.
- 37:22Speaker 7: Yeah, validation No.
- 37:23Speaker 8: I like that.
- 37:24Speaker 1: That was really nice, John and Louisiana. I recently caught
- 37:27Speaker 1: up on last week's episodes today and when you guys
- 37:30Speaker 1: were talking about Steven and Chisholm's comments about the Celtics,
- 37:34Speaker 1: I swear to god, I thought you were talking about
- 37:36Speaker 1: Remandre and fon Chisholm to me about twenty minutes afterwards,
- 37:39Speaker 1: when Alex brought uh.
- 37:41Speaker 8: I'm like, Chisholm's not worth whatever.
- 37:44Speaker 1: When Alex brought up Jalen Brown and Brad Stevens relationship,
- 37:47Speaker 1: I was like, Wow, they're talking about the Celtics upper management. Also,
- 37:51Speaker 1: I think less of a man who has never cut
- 37:53Speaker 1: a lawn more than a man who wears a professional
- 37:56Speaker 1: athletes jersey. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
- 38:00Speaker 8: Buy you that's totally fair. I would agree with that.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I would agree with that too. I also like,
- 38:04Speaker 1: it's one of those you don't have a lawn. I
- 38:06Speaker 1: get it, not to be.
- 38:07Speaker 8: Paul, but like, hey, everyone's entitled to an opinion. I
- 38:10Speaker 8: didn't realize people would be so passionate about the jersey thing, like,
- 38:13Speaker 8: totally wear a jersey. That is your prerogative.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Sure, I look at it so different. When you were
- 38:18Speaker 3: a kid and your parents make you mow the lawn,
- 38:20Speaker 3: it sucked.
- 38:21Speaker 1: But now I like, I take great satisfaction in the podcast.
- 38:24Speaker 3: On you Know, I mean it took a you know,
- 38:25Speaker 3: I didn't buy a home and have a lawn to
- 38:27Speaker 3: mo till late in my life. So now I mow
- 38:29Speaker 3: that sucker and then I'll, you know, I'll just sit.
- 38:31Speaker 8: On the deck and look out at it, right like
- 38:34Speaker 8: this is the lines the garden has taught me. We
- 38:37Speaker 8: live in such a world where it's just instant gratification.
- 38:40Speaker 8: Instant gratification with the little things like tending to a
- 38:42Speaker 8: garden and mowing your lawn and just like feeling so
- 38:45Speaker 8: accomplished right after, So good for the soul.
- 38:47Speaker 3: My wife said the other She's like, you know, for
- 38:49Speaker 3: not really putting any moth to it. We really put
- 38:51Speaker 3: the lawn together pretty nice today, and I like, ill
- 38:53Speaker 3: thank you because I literally just like, it's not a
- 38:58Speaker 3: great lawn. I'm not gonna lie like it's not like
- 39:00Speaker 3: it needs work. Just and if you just mow it
- 39:03Speaker 3: and you just go and there's some weeds, you know,
- 39:05Speaker 3: and it's all.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Unifuse, it's all great. It looks fine lines for a
- 39:08Speaker 1: little bit like I you know, it looks good enough.
- 39:10Speaker 3: From when we moved in, it was we got our
- 39:12Speaker 3: septic put in, so it was just mud.
- 39:14Speaker 1: You know, it's just mud.
- 39:15Speaker 3: And I essentially the amount I've just mowed it just told.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I had this. I have this one brown patch.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I just can't get it to grow. So this on
- 39:26Speaker 1: Saturday is where the dog goes to the bathroom.
- 39:28Speaker 8: No.
- 39:28Speaker 1: I dug it up, you know, down, and then I
- 39:31Speaker 1: bought this, you know, special soil just for growing grass,
- 39:35Speaker 1: and I put that soil down, put the seed in,
- 39:38Speaker 1: you know, mixed it in really nicely, and I've been
- 39:40Speaker 1: making sure it's it's stays staying moist in this weather.
- 39:44Speaker 1: It's not easy. Hopeful, hopefully I can fill in that path.
- 39:47Speaker 1: It's otherwise everything looks great.
- 39:53Speaker 8: Time we'll see it out for you to be doing that.
- 39:55Speaker 8: I feel like every every town on the coast is
- 39:58Speaker 8: like save water.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Yeah, said, it's been good. They have a water band.
- 40:03Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, we had an issue. And then down in
- 40:06Speaker 8: Rhode Island water band.
- 40:07Speaker 1: To the other thing I got done this weekend. I
- 40:10Speaker 1: have these cobblestones at the end of the driveway like
- 40:12Speaker 1: on the Apron and they've been there forever and the
- 40:15Speaker 1: cement has just like so, we had that torrential rain
- 40:22Speaker 1: like two three weeks ago, and I think all this
- 40:25Speaker 1: gray dust just went right down into the drive is like,
- 40:27Speaker 1: oh crap, I got to take care of this. So
- 40:30Speaker 1: I cleaned out some of the channels and bought this
- 40:32Speaker 1: ready to go cement. Not the right stuff. The gaps
- 40:36Speaker 1: are too wide and too deep, so it never really drives.
- 40:41Speaker 1: So I got a guy off a thumbtack.
- 40:42Speaker 8: You ever used some too, Is it like it's a
- 40:45Speaker 8: task rabbit type?
- 40:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's it's an app you go on, you
- 40:49Speaker 1: tell it what you're looking for, and it puts you
- 40:51Speaker 1: in touch with professionals in your area, and then they
- 40:53Speaker 1: come back with estimates. This guy came back with a
- 40:56Speaker 1: really lee stone and brick by I'll give him a
- 41:01Speaker 1: shadow leave brick and stone. But he came back with
- 41:04Speaker 1: a really reasonable thing, and he did a fantastic job.
- 41:07Speaker 1: It's all done.
- 41:08Speaker 7: Yeah, there you go, amazing, it's all done.
- 41:10Speaker 8: You're still having that issue with your neighbor, Like, wasn't
- 41:12Speaker 8: he putting a gravel driveway and it would just wash
- 41:14Speaker 8: away into the yard or something?
- 41:15Speaker 1: It was like pine chips and stuff or tree you know,
- 41:19Speaker 1: tree chips and woodchips. But he's he's figured it out.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Oh god, yeah he figured it out.
- 41:26Speaker 8: Did you have to help him?
- 41:26Speaker 1: Or it only took two times of totally washing out
- 41:30Speaker 1: into my yard? You know? But no, it's he's looking good. Yeah.
- 41:35Speaker 8: I can just picture you watching from the window, be like,
- 41:37Speaker 8: he's at it again. When's he gonna learn?
- 41:39Speaker 1: Ye neighbors man? I found out he's uh, he's a
- 41:43Speaker 1: nurse on those med life flights.
- 41:45Speaker 8: Oh wow, that's.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Intense respect for him.
- 41:48Speaker 8: They wanted my mom to do that and she was like,
- 41:50Speaker 8: you could not pay me. Wanted to get into a helicopter.
- 41:53Speaker 8: It's so dangerous to fly in those.
- 41:55Speaker 3: Well, my sister had to ride in one because she
- 41:57Speaker 3: was playing unto soccer and she was like, fell off
- 42:00Speaker 3: bench and she broke her neck. She had to be
- 42:02Speaker 3: med flight and she it wasn't like anything hit you know,
- 42:06Speaker 3: any of the nerves in there, but.
- 42:07Speaker 1: She but she had to helicopter. Something that just occurred
- 42:12Speaker 1: to me. I meant to bring it up when we
- 42:14Speaker 1: were talking about Chris Simms list about Brady. Are we
- 42:17Speaker 1: mad at him? Christ?
- 42:18Speaker 8: Now Brady?
- 42:19Speaker 1: If the story is true.
- 42:23Speaker 8: I did see a report that said it was not Brady.
- 42:26Speaker 8: Oh yeah, and whose I forget who, I'll find.
- 42:31Speaker 9: That coach came?
- 42:33Speaker 1: Who was Who's uh?
- 42:35Speaker 9: I forget his name now.
- 42:36Speaker 2: But the person that was being interviewed that said, you know, oh,
- 42:39Speaker 2: somebody told me this. I was getting help from somebody
- 42:41Speaker 2: said that it was not Brady in a secondary interview.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Oh really wondering So it could be covering it up,
- 42:48Speaker 1: that's you know, like, yeah, you can never because the
- 42:51Speaker 1: way he described it is someone who has a conflict
- 42:54Speaker 1: of interest with the Patriots.
- 42:56Speaker 8: Zach Gilb.
- 42:57Speaker 1: So you know, everybody immediately naturally thought it was Brady Strange.
- 43:04Speaker 1: I hope it wasn't. I hope it wasn't.
- 43:06Speaker 3: I start with, what could anyone possibly tell Mike McDonald
- 43:10Speaker 3: that they don't know unless you're on the inside and
- 43:14Speaker 3: you know what their game plan is going to be. Who, like,
- 43:16Speaker 3: I don't think anyone can look at Oh the Josh
- 43:18Speaker 3: McDaniels offense, this is what you should do, and that Well,
- 43:20Speaker 3: the question.
- 43:21Speaker 8: Is Mike the brand new coaching staff who with.
- 43:25Speaker 1: The Patriots connection? Does Mike McDonald feel comfortable calling about that?
- 43:30Speaker 1: Does he have a connection to Cam Newton at all?
- 43:34Speaker 1: I know of? No, I don't, Okay, So, I mean
- 43:36Speaker 1: he was at the Ravens. I mean he was with
- 43:38Speaker 1: Mike Smith.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Who's the Patriot. I mean, like that would be what
- 43:41Speaker 3: it would take for me. And obviously Mike's not going
- 43:43Speaker 3: to give him information in this is.
- 43:45Speaker 8: A Massachusetts guy.
- 43:46Speaker 7: Yeah, he's from Situa.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Bill O'Brien, maybe he has connections.
- 43:51Speaker 3: I'm going to tell him, like, you know, like, unless
- 43:53Speaker 3: it was somebody like I get it, if there was
- 43:55Speaker 3: an actual person in the building wh knew the game.
- 43:58Speaker 8: Billy Bryan are kind of ty what.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Could they possibly say about Josh McDaniels, what player they
- 44:05Speaker 1: can't like? If this person really does know McDaniels, he
- 44:08Speaker 1: knows tendencies, and that's what you're looking for. You're not
- 44:11Speaker 1: looking for the playbook. You know, they don't have that.
- 44:14Speaker 1: But you know, like he likes to do this when
- 44:17Speaker 1: this is going on, yeah, or he likes to.
- 44:19Speaker 3: But see, I don't think that's going to give away
- 44:20Speaker 3: the secret sauce of the oh no no or flip
- 44:23Speaker 3: the you know. I just I think Seattle was the
- 44:25Speaker 3: better team that day. They played like the better team.
- 44:27Speaker 3: They had the better plan, they adjusted better, you know,
- 44:30Speaker 3: they did everything better that day. I don't really no
- 44:32Speaker 3: matter what information they had pregame, I don't really put
- 44:35Speaker 3: a lot of weight on it.
- 44:36Speaker 7: But the more interesting thing to me has just been.
- 44:38Speaker 3: The evolution of Tom Brady as into TV twelve and
- 44:42Speaker 3: his relationship with Patriots Nation, and you know how it
- 44:45Speaker 3: always seems to get drummed up if he's not giving
- 44:48Speaker 3: us our due or you know. My view is that
- 44:51Speaker 3: that TV twelve June twelfth night that we did when
- 44:54Speaker 3: he went into the Hall of Fame, that was like
- 44:56Speaker 3: the pinnacle and I said goodbye to that version of
- 44:59Speaker 3: Tom Brady, and now every we share him with the Raiders,
- 45:01Speaker 3: we share him with the rest of the NFL, and
- 45:03Speaker 3: anything he does isn't gonna really know that opinion.
- 45:06Speaker 1: But it's funny. It's constantly happening.
- 45:08Speaker 8: Ever since that No Dog in the Fight, Come, No
- 45:10Speaker 8: Dog in the Fight broke my heart. That broke my heart.
- 45:13Speaker 7: Say that it hurts.
- 45:14Speaker 1: It hurts a little bit. It hurts a little bit.
- 45:17Speaker 1: It's just Matt Morrell. Somebody sent us a pp in
- 45:20Speaker 1: the Duce song. I don't know if you want to
- 45:23Speaker 1: listen to it first. I don't want to play it.
- 45:26Speaker 9: I already previewed it.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Is it is it go, Okay, it's the I'm not.
- 45:29Speaker 9: Gonna lie, but it's very AI.
- 45:31Speaker 1: You know, all right, let's hear it. Let's here. It's
- 45:36Speaker 1: from Mike ap and the Deuce.
- 45:38Speaker 12: The show is on, the Gang is down top and
- 45:43Speaker 12: the Duce. The boss Man's gone up. Fred I'll talk
- 45:56Speaker 12: about dogs and the Daste were cloth and sun.
- 46:04Speaker 8: Filtered, Okay, little pop punk up its green day.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I parody music is when you use AI, it
- 46:19Speaker 2: makes a good song. It's not funny anymore. Yeah, it's
- 46:22Speaker 2: just like a good song that bop into.
- 46:24Speaker 8: You know, yeah, it depends who wrote the lyrics. You know. Yeah,
- 46:28Speaker 8: you can still make the lyrics like.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Toilet references, because that's the whole point of people in
- 46:32Speaker 3: the dudes some toilet flushes about poop.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Right, No, waste your time on me, you know, you
- 46:39Speaker 1: get blink one thing going. Okay.
- 46:41Speaker 8: I was enjoying, but then I was like, we're gonna
- 46:47Speaker 8: like when we were we were harmonizing earlier dream On.
- 46:51Speaker 1: Yeah, right, George has Co is commenting on con everything
- 46:55Speaker 1: we've talked about so far. When du started off with
- 46:58Speaker 1: talking about flying a for fun, I thought to myself, geez,
- 47:01Speaker 1: it's going to be this type of show. But then
- 47:04Speaker 1: my mind went back to me flying kites at the
- 47:06Speaker 1: annual Kite Festival years ago at Franklin Park Zoo in Boston.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Not sure if it still happens. I've been in Maryland
- 47:13Speaker 1: since ninety four. I'm fifty two now, and I haven't
- 47:15Speaker 1: flown a kite since I was ten. There you go, Deuce,
- 47:17Speaker 1: I owe you an apology and Fred Bryan College was
- 47:20Speaker 1: great for me. The interaction with the players was much
- 47:23Speaker 1: more intimate. Intimate. Bruce Armstrong gave me and my mother
- 47:27Speaker 1: a ride to our car that was about ten spots
- 47:30Speaker 1: down just because he saw how excited I was. Thank
- 47:33Speaker 1: you for taking me down memory lane. Also, how can
- 47:37Speaker 1: I get a T shirt or some swag? So he
- 47:39Speaker 1: want stuff? Yeah, sent a picture you fly in a car. Yeah,
- 47:44Speaker 1: so good and best far of the Red Sox. Don't
- 47:47Speaker 1: set yourself up, Fred, I'm not drinking the Red Sox
- 47:50Speaker 1: kool aid. I don't want my heart broken. It won't
- 47:54Speaker 1: be My heart won't be broken. I just want summer entertainment,
- 47:58Speaker 1: that's all.
- 47:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that's kind of like somewhat how I felt, or
- 48:02Speaker 3: I told myself I felt during like twenty twenty two
- 48:05Speaker 3: and twenty twenty three, where it's.
- 48:06Speaker 7: Like, can you just be competitive and good?
- 48:08Speaker 3: And you know they weren't, And that was kind of
- 48:11Speaker 3: the bar last year for me of like just be
- 48:13Speaker 3: the best of the bad, and they were the best
- 48:14Speaker 3: of the bad. But I hear what you're saying, Fred,
- 48:17Speaker 3: You just and a lot of people said that, like,
- 48:18Speaker 3: you know, you just want to watch a good team,
- 48:20Speaker 3: You want to have a little bit of hope. You
- 48:21Speaker 3: don't want to feel like every game is just another
- 48:24Speaker 3: tick closer to the end.
- 48:25Speaker 7: Of the season.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Yep, Travis in West Virginia about tennis. Yeah, Wimbledon just
- 48:31Speaker 1: ended center, Yes, back to back and losing Makova one
- 48:34Speaker 1: for the women.
- 48:36Speaker 7: My mom was watching it, I ask us somebody Ova.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Yeah, but Travis is like you, Fred. I love all
- 48:42Speaker 1: the ceremony and tradition associated with the sport of tennis. However,
- 48:45Speaker 1: the one tradition I find incredibly dumb is when the
- 48:48Speaker 1: players climb into the audience to embrace their team. I agree,
- 48:52Speaker 1: I agree. Oh, I think that's so stupid. Just you
- 48:55Speaker 1: can wait. You don't have to do that. I forget
- 48:58Speaker 1: who did it first. It was one of the women.
- 49:00Speaker 1: It might have been Sharapova, But ever since then, everybody's
- 49:03Speaker 1: got to do it, you know, and they're climbing over
- 49:05Speaker 1: people and it's really sweaty. Yeah. I agree with that.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Uh.
- 49:10Speaker 1: And then he says, are there athletes or celebrities that
- 49:13Speaker 1: the media fawn all over, But you guys don't see
- 49:15Speaker 1: what all the fuss is about. For me, the person
- 49:17Speaker 1: is Cocoa Goff. Oh yeah, you like her.
- 49:22Speaker 7: Sorry, I was about to say, Noah Kahan, that's fine.
- 49:25Speaker 8: Wait, celebrities, what is it for you?
- 49:30Speaker 6: For me?
- 49:30Speaker 8: I like him? I love folkiness. There's something about his
- 49:34Speaker 8: songwriting that's half there for me and the other half
- 49:38Speaker 8: there's some lyrics.
- 49:39Speaker 9: I'm like, he sounds like every other recent country artist
- 49:43Speaker 9: out there to.
- 49:43Speaker 8: He's not even country though.
- 49:44Speaker 2: It's that's what they're just trying to name. It's something different,
- 49:47Speaker 2: but that's what it all sounds.
- 49:48Speaker 3: I caught a clip of Megan Aadolini on WI and
- 49:50Speaker 3: I thought she like, she nailed it, and she's like,
- 49:52Speaker 3: I mean, it's nice, but like there's he feels like
- 49:55Speaker 3: a diamond dozen guy.
- 49:56Speaker 1: And I don't quite get why.
- 49:57Speaker 8: It's because he sings about New England.
- 50:00Speaker 7: Things about the things about.
- 50:01Speaker 3: And that kind of goes back to I think that
- 50:03Speaker 3: people grew up around here, Like the second you say
- 50:05Speaker 3: Boston and a song or something like, everyone's, oh, you know, you.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Take possession of it a little bit. Yeah, But I
- 50:11Speaker 1: don't know. He reminds you.
- 50:12Speaker 3: My sister had this friend in high school growing up.
- 50:14Speaker 3: She's a lot of time, and he was always trying
- 50:16Speaker 3: to be that guy like had an acoustic guitar and
- 50:18Speaker 3: long hair and he's got emotional, kind of touchy feeling
- 50:20Speaker 3: songs and I'm like, he could be Noa Kahan.
- 50:23Speaker 7: He could be Noaconda me.
- 50:24Speaker 1: But the guy what four solo?
- 50:27Speaker 9: I just that's what's more impressive. Is he hit a
- 50:30Speaker 9: hole in one yesterday?
- 50:31Speaker 7: Yeah he did. Oh yeah, it's all coming up in Oakahana.
- 50:33Speaker 9: And one of the Boston courses.
- 50:35Speaker 7: Okay, that's a big golf guy.
- 50:37Speaker 8: Now I've been to I went to the show last
- 50:39Speaker 8: year at Fenway. It was awesome. It was so much fun.
- 50:42Speaker 8: It's honestly singing aside from the ariostour, it's one of
- 50:45Speaker 8: the only shows I've ever been to where everyone around
- 50:47Speaker 8: me knew every single word to every song. That's testament
- 50:50Speaker 8: to him, but just like there's something about him that
- 50:52Speaker 8: it's like seventy percent of the way there for me.
- 50:54Speaker 8: And it's just comes down to like some of his
- 50:56Speaker 8: lyrics I think are kind of dumb. And it'll have
- 50:59Speaker 8: a great theme for song and it'll be like this
- 51:01Speaker 8: great New England imagery, but then there'll be one line
- 51:04Speaker 8: where it's like Doc told me to travel, but there's
- 51:08Speaker 8: COVID on a plane and I'm like, I hate that lyric.
- 51:11Speaker 8: It makes the song not timeless because it's COVID. I
- 51:14Speaker 8: don't know. There's something about the.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Way you looked at me when I said that, I
- 51:16Speaker 3: was like, Alex is gonna le like she's in I thought.
- 51:19Speaker 8: I was in the minority here. I really loves him,
- 51:21Speaker 8: I know, I just like it.
- 51:24Speaker 7: But it's just not like he's not Taylor Swift but
- 51:27Speaker 7: you know, and that was around here. He's kind of
- 51:28Speaker 7: trated like that, but.
- 51:29Speaker 1: He's he's a recent phenomena.
- 51:31Speaker 8: It is, yeah, And like it's a great story because
- 51:34Speaker 8: he went out and tried to make it as an
- 51:37Speaker 8: artist and whether it was Nashville or la I kind
- 51:39Speaker 8: of forget it didn't work out and he like came
- 51:41Speaker 8: home with his taiale between his legs. But it was
- 51:44Speaker 8: in Vermont at home that he became famous off of TikTok,
- 51:48Speaker 8: you know, so I can appreciate that, like you don't
- 51:50Speaker 8: always need to move away from home to make it.
- 51:52Speaker 8: And but it's just I don't know, I don't have
- 51:55Speaker 8: the writing. It all comes down to writing for me always,
- 51:58Speaker 8: movies songs is important.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Writing and lighting.
- 52:04Speaker 3: But we are like don't you think though, like dirty
- 52:06Speaker 3: Water and you know, shipping up to Boston and like
- 52:10Speaker 3: it's pretty much any song with Boston or Boston into
- 52:14Speaker 3: Boston people and we are we are, Yeah.
- 52:19Speaker 8: We know we're the best, but no one else knows it.
- 52:21Speaker 8: We'll show you.
- 52:23Speaker 2: Orial not insecure territorial insecurity too though, I think, like
- 52:28Speaker 2: like when people say bad things about British, we can't
- 52:33Speaker 2: let it go, you know, right, And that's what insecurity is.
- 52:37Speaker 1: If you're secure on yourself, you don't care.
- 52:39Speaker 8: Yeah, even when it's the stuff we complain about too.
- 52:43Speaker 1: But you know, and I argue with Paul about this
- 52:46Speaker 1: and Andy back in the day. I get it when
- 52:49Speaker 1: it comes to the Patriots because we did suck for
- 52:53Speaker 1: so long and when we were good, we get knocked
- 52:56Speaker 1: down and you know, really quickly, so we never really
- 52:59Speaker 1: had that time. And you know, finally when we were good,
- 53:04Speaker 1: people were trying to knock us down. And I get it.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Defending the Wall, I get that. You know, Paul hates
- 53:09Speaker 1: that because he hates fans and he doesn't like to
- 53:13Speaker 1: put himself out there for anything where he becomes vulnerable.
- 53:16Speaker 1: And part of being a true fan a fanatic is
- 53:21Speaker 1: you have to be vult You have to be willing
- 53:23Speaker 1: to be vulnerable because you're gonna get your hot broken
- 53:25Speaker 1: sometimes and it's not always gonna go your way, and
- 53:30Speaker 1: when you do lose you're gonna get made fun of,
- 53:32Speaker 1: but you gotta be okay with that, you know. I
- 53:35Speaker 1: mean there's a pretty stuff.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Ultimately, it's like, as a fan, I got to watch
- 53:38Speaker 3: this guy lead my team to six super Bowl championship.
- 53:42Speaker 7: It was like the best possible fan experience you can
- 53:45Speaker 7: ever have.
- 53:46Speaker 1: And it wasn't gonna like.
- 53:47Speaker 3: Last forever because it's a sports but you know, that's
- 53:49Speaker 3: always what I felt like a Brady's ninth Yeah, great,
- 53:52Speaker 3: you know, I watched six super Bowls and got to
- 53:55Speaker 3: like feel like to watch your team overcome incredible stuff.
- 53:58Speaker 1: You know. Part of the reason I think the lead
- 54:00Speaker 1: he turns a blind eye to Brady owning a team
- 54:02Speaker 1: and being a broadcaster and doing all this stuff that
- 54:05Speaker 1: conflicts with everything else is payback for the flake Gate.
- 54:10Speaker 1: They're they wronged him. The league called him a cheat
- 54:15Speaker 1: and a liar, and he didn't do what they said
- 54:19Speaker 1: he did, let's put it that way, and like he'll
- 54:23Speaker 1: never forgive them for that fully, And I think the
- 54:27Speaker 1: league realizes that they kind of made a big thing
- 54:30Speaker 1: out of that that they shouldn't have, and now they're
- 54:33Speaker 1: letting him do whatever the hell he wants. That's that's
- 54:36Speaker 1: just my theory.
- 54:37Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, well I understand why.
- 54:39Speaker 3: I mean that was remember in the West Coast because
- 54:42Speaker 3: the game ended, and then all you know, like that's great,
- 54:44Speaker 3: back to it on the Super Bowl and all of
- 54:45Speaker 3: a sudden was like and and.
- 54:47Speaker 1: When I when I heard it, you know, this is
- 54:49Speaker 1: after the Colts game. I heard it the next day.
- 54:52Speaker 1: I laughed at it. I'm like, that's stupid. And then
- 54:55Speaker 1: it just got bigger and bigger. And you know, I
- 54:58Speaker 1: think the timing because now you're in the two week
- 55:00Speaker 1: span before the Super Bowl, and so like it was
- 55:05Speaker 1: like if it was true, that's a big deal.
- 55:09Speaker 7: You know, did you notice like a change in seven?
- 55:12Speaker 3: I always felt that that was when you and I mean,
- 55:14Speaker 3: this is the first thing I ever wrote. It was
- 55:16Speaker 3: like you kind of went from being Luke Skywalker in
- 55:18Speaker 3: Super Bowl thirty six of like the underdog and everyone
- 55:20Speaker 3: you know in your Patriots to and now you're Darth
- 55:23Speaker 3: Vader in O seven. And like I did from your
- 55:25Speaker 3: experience doing these shows daily were the like the fans
- 55:28Speaker 3: and the calls like did that reflect that kind of
- 55:31Speaker 3: transition from going well to the underdogs to now you're
- 55:33Speaker 3: the bad guy?
- 55:34Speaker 1: It went from what are they doing? Why are they
- 55:37Speaker 1: saying this about us? To screw them? It's New England
- 55:41Speaker 1: versus everybody. Embrace the hate and like, you know, defend
- 55:46Speaker 1: the wall, that whole thing. That's where that all came from.
- 55:48Speaker 1: It's like the realization that they're never going to love us,
- 55:52Speaker 1: they're never going to give us our respect, even though,
- 55:55Speaker 1: as Paul would say, well your favorite in every game,
- 55:58Speaker 1: that's not the respect that people were looking for, not
- 56:00Speaker 1: from Vegas. They're looking for the respect from other fan bases.
- 56:04Speaker 1: What you're never gonna get, you're never gonna get. Why
- 56:06Speaker 1: should they? You know, part of the fun is hating
- 56:09Speaker 1: the Chiefs when they got good, you know, and trying
- 56:12Speaker 1: to figure out and say things about them that you
- 56:15Speaker 1: know will knock them off their pedestals. So that's again
- 56:19Speaker 1: part of being fans. I think it's I think that's cool.
- 56:22Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, it's even beyond fandom. I think it's
- 56:25Speaker 8: human nature too. Like the universe loves a five. You know,
- 56:28Speaker 8: you can build up a one up to a five,
- 56:31Speaker 8: and you can tear down a ten to a five,
- 56:33Speaker 8: and that's just the way the world works.
- 56:34Speaker 1: I think about parents in sports, and I want to
- 56:36Speaker 1: read this email in a second But when you're a
- 56:40Speaker 1: parent of your kid who plays you sports and your
- 56:44Speaker 1: kids not he doesn't stink or her like they're competitive,
- 56:49Speaker 1: you're constantly comparing your kid against the other kids, whether
- 56:52Speaker 1: you like it or not. That's what you're doing. And
- 56:55Speaker 1: not that you're wishing ill on the other kids, but
- 56:57Speaker 1: you're hoping your kid rises up. And you know, when
- 57:01Speaker 1: another kid might take your kid's position on the team,
- 57:04Speaker 1: you're like, you're hoping that something will happen that your
- 57:07Speaker 1: kid gets that position. Bad. Yeah, Yeah, it's just natural.
- 57:10Speaker 3: Yeah, that's I guess that's what I'm trying to divide out.
- 57:12Speaker 3: I think it's naturally human nature to somebody's been good
- 57:15Speaker 3: long enough. Okay, we're sick of you, right, versus we don't.
- 57:19Speaker 3: You're bad guys.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Now, you know, like there's this there was there was
- 57:21Speaker 1: a little bit of help have in Belichick. Oh yeah,
- 57:24Speaker 1: because he embodied you know.
- 57:27Speaker 3: He starts Vader right, And but that was the vibe
- 57:30Speaker 3: then from seven that carried them through the end of
- 57:32Speaker 3: the tenure. That was just how they kind of looked
- 57:34Speaker 3: at everything. And I think that was part of what
- 57:37Speaker 3: was fun last year about that run, was like there
- 57:39Speaker 3: wasn't anything attached to that. It was just this new
- 57:42Speaker 3: group coming together and you know, winning games and capturing
- 57:45Speaker 3: lightning in a bottle, which was was really cool.
- 57:48Speaker 1: You know.
- 57:48Speaker 3: It's I just thought that was always the hardest thing
- 57:50Speaker 3: to do and it was remarkable how those teams were
- 57:53Speaker 3: able to continually catch lightning in a bottle and be
- 57:55Speaker 3: really good. You know, can now It's that's what's so
- 57:58Speaker 3: interesting to me now is can his team capture lightning
- 58:01Speaker 3: in a bottle again? You know, it's Verbel going to
- 58:03Speaker 3: push the right buttons again to you know, bring all
- 58:05Speaker 3: these guys together. And I just I think every time
- 58:08Speaker 3: I watch him on the field, I'm like, this, this
- 58:10Speaker 3: is a guy I would want to play for. I
- 58:11Speaker 3: think modern athletes want to play for this kind of guy.
- 58:14Speaker 3: He's not gonna get all nerdy ONYA and x's and
- 58:16Speaker 3: all that stuff.
- 58:17Speaker 7: I mean, he knows that stuff.
- 58:18Speaker 3: But he's going to be about we're going to be
- 58:20Speaker 3: the toughest sobs out here, and I'm going to make
- 58:23Speaker 3: sure that you guys.
- 58:24Speaker 1: He's figured out how to keep things loose while keeping
- 58:28Speaker 1: while keeping people on their toes. Yeah, you know, like
- 58:31Speaker 1: if you play for him, you know, if you if
- 58:33Speaker 1: you say something stupid or do you're gonna get called out.
- 58:37Speaker 1: You're gonna get called out. But at the same time,
- 58:40Speaker 1: he keeps it like we're all in this together.
- 58:42Speaker 7: He's just really I mean, he's always been a likable guy.
- 58:44Speaker 3: And I know, you know, Paul's got some great stories
- 58:46Speaker 3: about Rabel, you know, knowing what kind of guy he
- 58:49Speaker 3: is and embracing that. But it just, you know, I
- 58:51Speaker 3: find him really likable, and I think that he can
- 58:55Speaker 3: do it again. You know, I think he's he's a
- 58:57Speaker 3: really good coach, and that's what I love. I love coaching.
- 59:00Speaker 3: I love everybody who does it differently, and you know,
- 59:03Speaker 3: having one of my favorite players now be the coach
- 59:05Speaker 3: and you know, getting similar kind of performances like the
- 59:08Speaker 3: ones that he used to turn in weekend and week out,
- 59:10Speaker 3: and you know, making big plays and big moments like
- 59:13Speaker 3: you know, we saw mil Williams last year, you know,
- 59:14Speaker 3: sealing the Miami game, or you know, big sacks on
- 59:17Speaker 3: Justin Herbert closing that one out.
- 59:18Speaker 7: You know, those were the plays that Mike Fable made
- 59:20Speaker 7: as a.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Player, and you see now his players kind of taking
- 59:23Speaker 3: on that personality.
- 59:24Speaker 1: I think it's it's been really fun. I'm excited for
- 59:27Speaker 1: year two.
- 59:27Speaker 8: That's why like us doing Forge, not that I have
- 59:30Speaker 8: anything to do with it, but just seeing him coach
- 59:34Speaker 8: in his first year and all that behind the scenes stuff,
- 59:37Speaker 8: like you can kind of tell that's the way he
- 59:39Speaker 8: is from the product on the field, but when you
- 59:40Speaker 8: actually get to see him like hyping the guys up,
- 59:43Speaker 8: it's just so awesome.
- 59:44Speaker 1: It's good stuff. And by the way, this Friday next
- 59:48Speaker 1: episode of Forge and Foxborough so be by your computers
- 59:53Speaker 1: clip got me fired up, yeap. Going back to youth
- 59:57Speaker 1: sports a little bit, Brendan and Edmonton writes, and seeing
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: as the panel represents the sports of soccer, lacrosse, tennis,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: and hockey, which sports have the worst behavior parents on
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: the sideline or just to deal with? And easy for
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: you to say, hockey, dads, hockey?
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I just I'm one of the dads,
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: and I see this kind of dad's pop up more
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: and more. And it's often like dads who played you know,
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: competitive sports beyond high school, of they kind of stand
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: by themselves and watch the kids game.
- 1:00:26Speaker 7: And they don't say anything.
- 1:00:27Speaker 8: And that's god.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: I've also learned that I don't really try to talk
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: to my son about games afterwards, I kind of let
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: it simmer and if you and then later you know, hey,
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: you know this is what I noticed. But hockey's bad.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: I mean all sports are bad. I am lacrosse. My sister.
- 1:00:42Speaker 7: My sister's a lacrosse parents who probably I mean, she
- 1:00:45Speaker 7: is screened. I'm like, what are you doing right now?
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Like I don't talk at all.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: I go to see my nephew's lacrosse games and she's
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: screaming at the reps.
- 1:00:52Speaker 8: And it's also not even necessarily sport by sport. I
- 1:00:55Speaker 8: found this working for mass Live earlier in my career.
- 1:00:58Speaker 8: Like working the high school sports desk, coaches are coming
- 1:01:01Speaker 8: in to report their scores. Sometimes it's a parent, but
- 1:01:04Speaker 8: it's usually the parents with the least amount of athletic
- 1:01:08Speaker 8: experience are the loudest and most annoying. And then also
- 1:01:13Speaker 8: like the towns that are really socio economically well off
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: also have the most annoying parents.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, because the world revolves around yeah, and.
- 1:01:26Speaker 8: Oh my god, yeah, I'm not going to call it
- 1:01:28Speaker 8: any specific towns, but there's a couple that I'm just like, no,
- 1:01:31Speaker 8: I never have to deal with those people again. I'll
- 1:01:33Speaker 8: be so happy.
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: I mean, I had a couple of conversations with the
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: people I know this weekend and we've talked about it
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: a ton here, just the state of youth sports and
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: you know how hard it is and towns, you know,
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: combining to make teams and it's just disappointing.
- 1:01:46Speaker 7: It was it was simple and was really fun growing up.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: And she's really complicated and there's a lot of money involved,
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: and it's just the demands on the time. I mean,
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: going back to my sister, she's like driving off Cape
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: Saturday morning for a Rhode Island lacrosse team. Kind back
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: drive off Cape Sunday morning to go to a lacrosse
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: game and run.
- 1:02:03Speaker 7: You know that that kind of intensity.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: It's just and the kids, like on the Sea team,
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: you know, like he's not he's not going anywhere, Like
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: he's just playing for fun, and your whole weekend is
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: consumed that.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: As Once you get to the higher levels, like if
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: you're playing on those club teams that we talked about,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: players start to I mean players parents start to behave
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: a little bit more because there's more at stake and
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: they don't want to be that woman or man to
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: screw it up for their kid. You know, because there's
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: recruiters there and everything, and so you shut your mouth.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: You don't even like approach the colleges that are there,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: like oh, look at my kid like some might imagine,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: some might, but you don't do that. You don't do
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: that because that's now you're you're hurting your own kid
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: if you do that.
- 1:02:53Speaker 8: My kid's an orphan. I don't exist anything to better
- 1:02:56Speaker 8: their chances.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: What I would always tell my kid is where's like,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: where's something identifiable like orange shirt underneath or something like that.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: So when you do something, oh that's the kid with
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: the r those things on peacock a little bit peacock.
- 1:03:10Speaker 8: When you're playing in like a tryout or tournament like that,
- 1:03:12Speaker 8: and the coaches like, hey kid, what's your name, you're like, oh, yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:16Speaker 8: that's how you know your name.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: I had one at a hockey camp where they were
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: like the head counselor was kid at BC Hockey and
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: he's like, you come out here, you you you.
- 1:03:24Speaker 7: Demonstrate the jewel me.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: Come on one on one with you, and I'm all right,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: Like then you know they see that you can you
- 1:03:29Speaker 7: can play a little.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: But now that was always fun when you were validated
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: as a player growing up, or you started to get
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: recruiting letters, or you know, remember one game I talked
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: about plenty with you know, going against Tabor, you know,
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: my coach camp.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: So that's the best game you've ever played in your life.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: You know, like those moments when you start to get
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: that validation of like, no, actually I might be I
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: might be okay, you know, making teams and all.
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: That was that was so fun.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I was asked not to play as a wrestler,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: or I have walked on as a wrestler. It was
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: a club team. It wasn't even like, you know, I
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: could have like I could have been a good wrestler.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: I just dedicated.
- 1:04:07Speaker 8: Don't you wish ever that you could to have the
- 1:04:10Speaker 8: sports brain you have now? To go back to your
- 1:04:13Speaker 8: high school?
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: He said. The tragedy of sports is just when you're
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: becoming mentally the smartest about your sport, your physical starts
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: to break down. You know.
- 1:04:25Speaker 7: You know, I I went back.
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: I had all my like old hockey games, and at
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: one point I watched all of them, like kind of
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: watch my career in order, not every game, but you know,
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: just kind of went through it and it goes to
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: back to that like the inner game of tennis, where
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: a big part of that is like watching yourself uncritically
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: and just being like what do I need to do better?
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: And you know, as you watch it as an adult,
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: and it was like Mike, what the hell are you
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: doing on there?
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: Like dude, you can.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: Skate to you know, like you can go attack that
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: guy like you know, and having that mindset now or
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: it's like, shoot, if you know, my dad's telling me
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: x y Z and if I had heard Z, you know, ABC,
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: like I might have gotten it.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: That was the thing about football for me, like a
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: youth foot no one coached me. I had no idea
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: what I was doing. And I just think now if
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: I can now with.
- 1:05:08Speaker 8: The YouTube and resources and the athlete camps they do,
- 1:05:11Speaker 8: if I knew then what.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: I know now about how to play football, oh, I
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: could have been so much better.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: Great point, Like I cause I played linebacker as a
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: freshman middle linebacker, and like I didn't understand the concept
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: of like reading the like I'm just like where's the ball.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: Going to go?
- 1:05:27Speaker 7: And that you know, like reading what they're doing trying.
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: To get up you know, beat the tackles, like all
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: these things that I know now from watching so much football.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: It's like and I like, just no coaching.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: You know, Like and I remember like one of the
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: seniors coming up to me during one of the freshman
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: games and like essentially like telling me, you know, when
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: the guard comes out and he tries to block it
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: this way, ball's going that way.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: You know, those kind of things which seem so fundamental.
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: But I remember being like, oh, right, you know, Ralph,
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: I'll never forget.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: This is I don't know what grade I was in.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: It's grade school. I mean, this is youth football. It's
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: even before Pop Warner, but it's tackle. And I was
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: on this team. They didn't really know what I could
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: play a lot of positions. They were moving me around
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: and in the middle of the game he said, oh,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: put him at middle linebacker. And the other team had
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: this kid named Jamie Kirk, and Jamie Kirk was a
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: freaking fire hydrant. So they hand the ball off to
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: him and I'm standing at little middle linebacker and no
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: one taught me go downhill meet I'm just standing there
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: and he runs me over, like literally runs me over
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: penalty holding, so you know, so it wasn't a touchdown
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: like he ran me over and scored. So line up again,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: exact same play, exact same result. He runs me over again,
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: second play in a row. And it's just like I
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: think back then, if if somebody had just told me, no,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: you have to go get him right to play and
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: go downhill and at least you've got a fighting chance
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: because it's your force against his. I still probably wouldn't
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: have been because like, this kid was a load. I'll
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: never forget Jamie Kirk was his name. Two plays in
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: a row, I just got frock. It's the same thing
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: for I look at like the footage.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: I'm gonna stand up for stuff like this is like
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: me playing little linebacker's like to snap and I'm like,
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: what do I do?
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Right? What do I do? No one told me right?
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: No one don't tell me right.
- 1:07:17Speaker 7: And they're like, yo, you're supposed to chase the ball
- 1:07:18Speaker 7: and go get it. I'm like, I know, but like,
- 1:07:20Speaker 7: you know, how.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: Do you like read plays?
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: And you know say yeah, and even you know watching
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: stuff now where you know you look at formations and
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: you know you start to break down, all right, well,
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: what is this probably telling you?
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: What's probably coming?
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: Like all the things that a Robert Spelane is like
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: cycling through his head so that when they snapped the ball,
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: he's probably got a pretty good idea what's about to happen.
- 1:07:36Speaker 7: Whereas I was just like, you know, real time, like what's.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Gonna happen, what's gonna happen?
- 1:07:40Speaker 7: And I'm blocked them out of the play.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Oh. I remember taking my son when he started playing,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: and you know, I didn't know what kind of coaching
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: was going to get. And I told him, I said,
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: when you go for tackle, don't just go to wrap
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: up if he's here, You want to go aim for here.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: You want to go through, right, And like that really
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: resonated with him, like he got that. And I don't
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: know if kids are getting that instruction, and I know
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: I didn't because Jamie Kirk proved it.
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: You know, do you tell him when he gets in
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: a fight to punch through the head, like punch you punching?
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Oh? Absolutely, same concept. Don't punch the punch right through it? Yeah,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: so all right, good stuff. Yeah, it's one eight. And
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: does your game style need some coaching like some of

- 1:11:11Speaker 19: varies by jurisdiction. Different position groups, different position battles, guys.
- 1:11:16Speaker 19: And we're going to start with the defensive line, a
- 1:11:18Speaker 19: very good place to start. And ev let's start with
- 1:11:21Speaker 19: Christian Barmore and Milton Williams, who really two of the
- 1:11:24Speaker 19: key features of that Patriots defense last year.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: They're back. Hopefully we can keep Milon Williams healthy. That
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: was the only maybe issue for that group. But when
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: those two guys are out there, they're amongst the most
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: disruptive defensive tackles in the league.
- 1:11:36Speaker 20: Yeah, I mean both guys ranking top twenty and pressure
- 1:11:38Speaker 20: eight last year among defensive tackles. Just a really good tandem,
- 1:11:42Speaker 20: and they need them to be a really good tandem.
- 1:11:44Speaker 20: And I think we're going to have conversations in the
- 1:11:47Speaker 20: edge preview about how much juice they're really going to
- 1:11:49Speaker 20: have in the pass rush off the edge. So getting
- 1:11:52Speaker 20: that interior pressure from those two diys is going to
- 1:11:55Speaker 20: be a big, big part of this team's success and
- 1:11:58Speaker 20: hopefully winning a lot of games. So I thought last
- 1:12:01Speaker 20: year Milton Williams was everything you could have dreamt of
- 1:12:05Speaker 20: in more as a free agent signing. I still feel
- 1:12:08Speaker 20: like the Christian Barmore, the pre blood clots Christian Barmore
- 1:12:12Speaker 20: is maybe in there. Get a little bit more juice
- 1:12:14Speaker 20: out of him too, So it's a really exciting tamin.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: Yeah, Paul, it isn't totally the same group though.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: Kiris Tonga not back, and I mean no, he was
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: early I thought, really good early season, especially against Buffalo,
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: big run stopper. When you saw him go out for
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: a little bit, you saw the effect on the team.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: They chose not to bring him back. They do have
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: some depth, but that seems like one piece they're going
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: to have to figure out how to replace.
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: Absolutely, And I do think that's the one question because
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: there's no reason to expect anything different from Williams and Barmore.
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: As EV said, a very dynamic tandem in the inside,
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: both in the run and pass game. And I was
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: a little surprised with how well they played against the
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: run too, especially Milton Williams. But there is some question
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: is there a sort of run specialist, you know, a
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: tong type guy to fill in Corey Durden is one
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: does not lack for confidence very you know, he was
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: a very colorful interview earlier in the OTAs you know,
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: back in the spring.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: So it's going to be interesting to see you know.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: Lenny t right, Lennard Hyler, you know, the guy that's
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: in the in the mix in there, big blockfield goal
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: in the AFC Championship game. There's an opportunity for playing time,
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: and that's what training campus for. Who ends up earning
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: those those kinds of minutes inside next two in you know,
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: instead of you know, the the two big guns.
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's you mentioned Jrdan and Taylor, Eric
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: Gregory another guy they helped Vrabels mentioned and Josh Farmer,
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: who you know was around last year seemed to come
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: on a little bit at the end and then he
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: got hurt and we didn't see him at the end.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: But have you know A couple of things I want
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: to throw at you is just you know you lost
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: the buffalo in December. He gave one hundred and sixty
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: eight rushing yards. You know the loss in the Super Bowl.
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: We know who the MVP was, It was their running back.
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: They gave up one hundred and forty one rushing yards.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: How important is this because I at the top, we
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: feel pretty good about their pass rush, their ability to
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: get off the ball. But is this an area that
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: could be an achilles heel for this team like it
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: was kind of in the Super Bowl?
- 1:14:11Speaker 20: Well, I think a lot of those runs in the
- 1:14:12Speaker 20: Super Bowl were off the edges. So I don't know
- 1:14:14Speaker 20: how much I put on those interior guys for losing
- 1:14:18Speaker 20: the edge and letting Kenneth Walker bounce runs outside. But
- 1:14:21Speaker 20: I think that it's a fair question to ask about
- 1:14:24Speaker 20: that wide bodied gap eating space, eating block, eating whatever
- 1:14:29Speaker 20: you want to call him run stuff, or that Tonga was.
- 1:14:33Speaker 20: I'm not sure that Dirden is exactly the same kind
- 1:14:35Speaker 20: of player. I think that he's a solid player and
- 1:14:38Speaker 20: a good rotational guy to have, But is he somebody
- 1:14:41Speaker 20: that's going to play straight up over the nose or
- 1:14:44Speaker 20: in the a gap and just eat blocks like a
- 1:14:47Speaker 20: chiris Tongo was capable of doing. You know, Joshua Farmer
- 1:14:50Speaker 20: to me is another guy that probably a little bit
- 1:14:53Speaker 20: further away from the ball than a traditional nose tackle.
- 1:14:57Speaker 20: Maybe in Eric Gregory, who is a little bit of
- 1:14:59Speaker 20: a wider body. You know, David Blaye, who are getting
- 1:15:02Speaker 20: really deep here in the undrafted rookies, is somebody that
- 1:15:05Speaker 20: did that in college. So we'll see if they have
- 1:15:08Speaker 20: that kind of sturdiness in the middle that Tongo was
- 1:15:11Speaker 20: able to give them. But you know, when you go
- 1:15:14Speaker 20: into those four down fronts, it's gonna be a lot
- 1:15:16Speaker 20: of bar More and Williams obviously, but those base fronts
- 1:15:18Speaker 20: when they do put five guys up on the line
- 1:15:20Speaker 20: of scrimmage in the spring, it was it was a
- 1:15:23Speaker 20: lot of dirt and you know, those were their three
- 1:15:25Speaker 20: man fronts were you know, dirt in and inside, and
- 1:15:28Speaker 20: Williams and Barmore as kind of those typical defensive ends
- 1:15:31Speaker 20: in a three four defense. Is that going to be
- 1:15:34Speaker 20: enough beef? Are they going to have enough of that
- 1:15:36Speaker 20: in the middle? I think is a fair question. And
- 1:15:39Speaker 20: then you know, obviously the layer behind them too, with
- 1:15:41Speaker 20: Robert Splaine being the one guy that's really you can
- 1:15:44Speaker 20: really count on. So I think that everywhere on this roster,
- 1:15:47Speaker 20: when we go down the defense and these position previews,
- 1:15:50Speaker 20: we're going to be talking about depth, like do they
- 1:15:52Speaker 20: have enough depth? Do they have enough of a certain
- 1:15:55Speaker 20: skill set. It's not necessarily do they have enough top
- 1:15:57Speaker 20: end talent, but it's do they have enough to fill.
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: And real quick I would just throw into that, you know,
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: the depth part of it. I mean, I have to
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: go back and look at every individual game that we're
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: talking about. But for the most part, I thought those
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: run struggles were when Milton Williams was out a little bit,
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: Robert Splaine got nicked up. Certainly Splain wasn't himself in
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: the Super Bowl. Even so, I do think that fully healthy,
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: I don't have a huge amount of concern about that
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: being a fatal flawed to answer your real question, but
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: I do think that the depth is a concern.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: But for training camp. Maybe the bottom line for this
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: position group. I'd look at those those four guys. Maybe
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: Jeremiah Farms to some extent played less last year than
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: he had in the previous year under a different regime.
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: But you know, again, Dirton Taylor, Gregory Farmer, they seem
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: to have high hopes for those guys. Can they get
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: enough of a rotation? I mean, are you having my
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: eye on Farmer? Yeah, I mean Farmer's I know with
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: that group too. I mean there's some promising performance I
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: would say. I mean Leonard Taylor blocked, you know, a
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: field goal there in the in the AFC Championship. You
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: saw moments, but overall, if you look at the production itself,
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: doesn't really give you a ton of confidence behind the
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: top two that they those guys are ready to jump
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: right in. But maybe they are. We'll see in training
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: camp though, it should be a great position for battle.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: There down the depth chart a little bit, so that's
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: the defensive line.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: The training camp, preview and now great moments in history.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: I know he's a friend of the show, but the
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: pre and post game shows have become largely about soothing
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: or feeding Hardy's ego, and he offers little actual information
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: about the team or the game. It's so frustrating. Wow,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: we should bring this that's entirely inaccurate. Yeah, hardy. I
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: don't know if hards. I think if anything in this room,
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: I think, if anything, he's got inferior complex. Yes, I
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: would agree. Yeah.
- 1:17:45Speaker 17: Uh.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: You know, he's a very busy guy. He's got ninety
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: eight point five and he does serious He's got the
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: music show, you know. So he's got golf, the golf
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: show that he does. But he gets free stuff for that.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: So I'm a little jealous he gets those clubs he took, Yes,
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: I did custom PhD clubs. He gave you clubs? No,
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: he got those he got free and I got his leftover,
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: So did you? He said, he gave me a set
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: of irons nice? What kind? I don't know. I didn't
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: look at it. You don't even look at him. No,
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: you were just the other night when we were leaving.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: He put him in my trunk. Oh, so you're not
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: even curious to what they are. No, I'll look at
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: him when I get a chance. I would want to
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: know what kind of clubs I got? Some new clubs
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: I got? Did you excited?
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: I've been working on new set of irons, just rolling
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: around in the back of his car a bag.
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: I'd want to know, like the Calloways, and they expect
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: that from him, not you, I expect you know, like
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: i'd be excited to get a new set of irons.
- 1:18:47Speaker 20: Mike, how's your putting?
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: That's another great moment from I don't understand you got
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: a new set iron even interested got them when I
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: get a chance. When I get a.
- 1:18:58Speaker 8: Chance, I gave them. Like do you want what kind
- 1:19:01Speaker 8: are they? That's the first question.
- 1:19:03Speaker 7: Right, do they need new grips?
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: Well, I don't even act like if something is I'll
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: take them. But then I you know, at least you
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: look at the top of the club and well they're callaways. Cool,
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: you know does that comment to hit the.
- 1:19:19Speaker 7: Well, we all know, like what a bunch of loose golf.
- 1:19:23Speaker 8: Even if they're not loose in the bag, they it's irons, Okay,
- 1:19:28Speaker 8: it's a good noise. That means it's probably summer driving
- 1:19:31Speaker 8: around with the clubs.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: Next time you're giving away clubs, give them to somebody
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: who will appreciate who cares, you know.
- 1:19:37Speaker 7: I wonder how Paul's put those to work though, Like
- 1:19:39Speaker 7: this game he.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Says the first time he used them, it was a
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: marked difference.
- 1:19:43Speaker 8: Really, I think I'm due for an upgrade on my
- 1:19:47Speaker 8: beginner set that I've had for like twelve years now.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: I think I got to hit up Will Plastic.
- 1:19:51Speaker 8: No, they're callaways, actually some nice I got them. Never
- 1:19:55Speaker 8: used callaway ladies clubs on Facebook marketplace years ago. And yeah,
- 1:20:01Speaker 8: I'm going to hit up Paul Son Will because I
- 1:20:03Speaker 8: think he has a discount to the PGA, to a superstore.
- 1:20:06Speaker 7: He'll hook you up.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: So I'm getting Okay, do women's need women's clubs?
- 1:20:12Speaker 6: Like?
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: Is there that much of a difference.
- 1:20:14Speaker 8: So I've swung. I swung Brian Hoyer's clubs at the
- 1:20:18Speaker 8: country Club when the US opens here.
- 1:20:20Speaker 7: Okay, well he probably has custom clubs lot long.
- 1:20:25Speaker 8: It felt heavier, it was so.
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: Well, of course, I'm just talking about off the rack.
- 1:20:30Speaker 8: I wouldn't know, because I've never really played with anything else.
- 1:20:33Speaker 8: When I learned to play, I would use the rentals
- 1:20:35Speaker 8: at the country Club. I worked at the women's rentals,
- 1:20:37Speaker 8: So it's all I know.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: I guess maybe they're lighter, lighter.
- 1:20:42Speaker 8: Blank mine are pretty. They're white, black and white.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: The bat's pretty nicer design I.
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: Actually bought a fifty six loft and it was a
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Lady's Flex by accident.
- 1:20:51Speaker 9: So I've been using the Ladies Flex and I.
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: Have noticed the difference, not really, but it is it
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: bends a lot more when you.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Can okay, but yeah, for giving more pop off. Yeah,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:21:00Speaker 8: It's a good question.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: I don't know, but Boston Cream has a really important
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: question when attending a sports event, regardless of sport. What's
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: the ideal beers per sixty minutes? He says? Three? All right,
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's pretty good.
- 1:21:15Speaker 7: I mean my always philosophy the beers.
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: My philosophy was get after it in pregame and then
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: into the first quarter, the first part, and then and
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: then I taper off and then I kind of go
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: to water, you know, like I because I don't want
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: to I want to remember the end of the game.
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: So that was always kind of minro. But I think,
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: you know, three fours probably in the parking lot.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: I think for me three four for the game.
- 1:21:36Speaker 7: Oh yeah in the game, yeah yeah.
- 1:21:37Speaker 8: Yeah, what are you in taking pregame?
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: Though?
- 1:21:41Speaker 8: I like so my interpreting in the parking lot.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: If you're at a football game, it's three hours. Yeah,
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: so if it's per sixty then and he's doing three,
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: that's nine. I don't but maybe he's right. Maybe maybe
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: it's the whole game.
- 1:21:57Speaker 7: I would say.
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: I mean, I'm like three or four game, you know,
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: I get there pregame, and then I get in the stadium,
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: maybe buy one like you know that that's.
- 1:22:05Speaker 8: Usually that's my goal was possible in the game.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: But I've talked about that twenty fourteen Patriots Chargers game
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: that I went to, which was famous for like the
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: crazy Patriot fans there, And I've talked about the guys.
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: There are two guys sitting next to me, like they
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: were there.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: It was like it was a bar. It wasn't a
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: football game. Go yeah, they were just there like it's
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: still like, you know, fourth quarter, they're got more, you know,
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: coming back. I'm like, you guys watching this.
- 1:22:24Speaker 8: Like, I never been to a game that you don't remember.
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: No, I've never been to a game where I even
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: got drunk. Really, no, I'm there for the game. Yeah,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:22:33Speaker 8: My only exception is I don't even think I was
- 1:22:35Speaker 8: twenty one yet. But my best friend ever that's a
- 1:22:37Speaker 8: Jets season ticket holder.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: It was just a soft game. And it was that's
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: called self medication.
- 1:22:43Speaker 8: It was early December and I was just getting harassed
- 1:22:46Speaker 8: the whole game in my Brady Jersey or Brady Jersey guys.
- 1:22:50Speaker 8: You know that was before I formed my opinion. Rady,
- 1:22:52Speaker 8: that's a terrible like they're the only way to sit
- 1:22:55Speaker 8: through that game with how cold it was was so
- 1:22:57Speaker 8: just strength.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm surprised they don't just shoot up morphine during
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: the game, because I mean, how do you beat it?
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: How are your Jets company? That's the stadium? All right,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: let's go to the phones. They're stacked up. Kevin's in
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: North Carolina. What's up? Kevin? North Carolina? Kevin? All right,
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: Kevin going once? Twice? You're gone? How about Chad and Dallas?
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: What's up? Chad? Chad and Dallas? Is that really low?
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: He's not there? Okay? There? All right? He was only
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: on for forty minutes? All right? Uh? Oh, Christian in LA.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: What's up? Christian?
- 1:23:40Speaker 11: Hey you guys, Hey you guys, Hey, you guys. Hey,
- 1:23:43Speaker 11: So happy summer to you guys. I know it's double
- 1:23:46Speaker 11: drums and football gets sort of difficult to talk about
- 1:23:48Speaker 11: because it's not going on. But to me, this notion
- 1:23:52Speaker 11: of Aaron Donald joining the rand and taking pictures with
- 1:23:56Speaker 11: them seems to be like they're doing one of these setups.
- 1:23:58Speaker 11: But the quote unquote super team or dream teams, which
- 1:24:02Speaker 11: again feels like inevitably they probably won't even make the playoffs,
- 1:24:07Speaker 11: like the last super tream team or dream team that
- 1:24:10Speaker 11: came together and did make the playoffs, you know, the
- 1:24:12Speaker 11: Eagles one with Vince Young. I believe you do you
- 1:24:17Speaker 11: guys believe this whole notion of like, you know, the
- 1:24:18Speaker 11: dream team of super team thing, and why can't they
- 1:24:21Speaker 11: seem to make a playoff game when you gather that
- 1:24:23Speaker 11: much talent.
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: Right, because it's not about the best fifty five fifty three,
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: it's the right fifty three as we know. No, it's
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: a good question. I remember the Eagles, like you said,
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: had that Vince Young. Yep, Vince Young. They had that
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: dream team and they didn't get there were the other
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: dreamers on that team. Think. I think what it tells you,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: or what it tells me, is that in the NFL,
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: it's tough to win football games. It's you need a
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: lot of things to fall your way to go all
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: the way. Yeah, and you can have the best players,
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: but it doesn't always work out. Injuries happen, stupid plays, penalties, fumbles, turnovers,
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: and it can derail you know, a game, let alone
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: your season. So there's no guarantee once you spend all
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: that money and get all those players that you're gonna
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: you're gonna go all the.
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: Way, especially with Matthew Stafford and you know his age
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: and what could be injuries.
- 1:25:20Speaker 7: But I'm you know, fascinated to see it.
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: We talked so much about talent, and you know how
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: much talent takes you to that next level, how much coaching,
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: how much you know, the power of friendship, the kind
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: of you know, the balance of those those things. But
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: I think to me that the Achilles Hill is Stafford,
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: you know, I mean, that's but otherwise they are i
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: mean crazy talented. I mean I'd say I don't really
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: qualify that to that. What was the twenty eleventh Eagles team,
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: like they said it, but I think the Patriots LL
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: seventeen was the closest, But they weren't. They didn't have
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: this like even with as good as you know, I mean,
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: their defense was a little older. They didn't have an
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: elite player like Miles Garrett Is or you know, Trent
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: McDuffie or everything that they've done in the offseason, and.
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: How far removed his Aaron Donald from playing.
- 1:26:02Speaker 7: He's like two three years. I mean did he go
- 1:26:04Speaker 7: after they won the Super Bowl? Twenty won?
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: So yeah, like so five years.
- 1:26:09Speaker 7: I mean, I'll be all for it. I'd love to
- 1:26:10Speaker 7: see him come back.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Why not.
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: I mean he's putting videos up at him working out
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: all the time, Like, if you're gonna go for it,
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: then just go for it. Like good story in sports,
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: you know, how some old guy come back. But I
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: don't think he's gonna be as good.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:26:21Speaker 8: How do you after that time away?
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: Yeah, third down pass rusher kind of thing. Yeah, but
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: he looks like he's still in great shape. I mean
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: he's a really he was dominant. Yeah, he was amazing
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: super Bowl.
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: But talk about like just the prototypical rushing lineman.
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I mean not big too, because I I
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: go back even remember like him coming out in the
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: draft and I mean just didn't have the height, but
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: he had the strength and he had to speed.
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: Like, yeah, Eldred's in North Carolina? What's up? Eldred?
- 1:26:54Speaker 14: Hey, Alex, Hey, hey, Mike, how y'all doing thanks for asking,
- 1:26:58Speaker 14: are you I'm.
- 1:27:00Speaker 13: Doing pretty good, But I was gonna get off a
- 1:27:03Speaker 13: little football with the Celter talks.
- 1:27:05Speaker 14: I couldn't get in last.
- 1:27:06Speaker 13: Week with y'all when y'all was on there by Brown.
- 1:27:09Speaker 13: I think it was a dumb move, and he did
- 1:27:11Speaker 13: have a market.
- 1:27:12Speaker 14: They Charlotte was gonna make the trade for him. They go,
- 1:27:15Speaker 14: but he wanted They wanted Bridges, ball and three three
- 1:27:19Speaker 14: first round picks and they decided not to go otherwise.
- 1:27:22Speaker 14: And there was another team too. But I think this
- 1:27:24Speaker 14: messed up. When you got a thirty six year old
- 1:27:26Speaker 14: and a thirty nine year old and your team is getting.
- 1:27:29Speaker 13: A little older.
- 1:27:29Speaker 14: I think that was the dumbest move.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: So what would the Celtic. What would the Celtics have
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: gotten from Charlotte.
- 1:27:35Speaker 14: They would have got Bridges, U, Kamarlo, that ball and
- 1:27:39Speaker 14: they wanted uh and they wanted Charlotte three first.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: Round I see that's what they be and they.
- 1:27:45Speaker 14: Didn't want it. There's a note that's too much bus
- 1:27:47Speaker 14: for him there sixty sixty million or whatever. That was
- 1:27:50Speaker 14: too much. What my buddies told me that, I'm like, man,
- 1:27:53Speaker 14: he ain't going to no confound Charlotte. But they did
- 1:27:55Speaker 14: make a move for him, because they came up in
- 1:27:58Speaker 14: the Charlotte Observer, that's how I read about it. But
- 1:28:00Speaker 14: they turned it down and this year got rid of
- 1:28:02Speaker 14: the two guys though, but not for what they would
- 1:28:04Speaker 14: have got for Brown. But I think we're gonna think
- 1:28:07Speaker 14: this year. That's what I think. But I might be wrong.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: When you say we, you mean the Celtics.
- 1:28:13Speaker 14: Celtics. Yes, I'm a Celtic fan too.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: So you don't have faith Tatum.
- 1:28:18Speaker 13: Tatum, I'm like this, you gotta have a Robin. You
- 1:28:21Speaker 13: had a Robbin, you had Batman. I don't see another
- 1:28:24Speaker 13: Robbin on on the.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: Okay, but the Celtics were good last year and they
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: didn't have Tatum.
- 1:28:30Speaker 14: Yeah, but they had Robin right right.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: Now they have the Batman, So shouldn't they be at
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: least as good as they were last year?
- 1:28:40Speaker 14: I don't know. I'm still gonna say no, Okay, no,
- 1:28:43Speaker 14: I didn't want to do James to split up.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: Yeah you know, no, I hear that. But now you're
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: you're replacing Brown with Tatum from last year's team.
- 1:28:53Speaker 13: Uh, who who will take Brown spots? I don't think Tatum,
- 1:28:58Speaker 13: the guy we got will take Brown spot Like I said,
- 1:29:02Speaker 13: who will take Batman spot? If tams Batman?
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: But my point is, couldn't you say the last same
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: thing last year? Tatum's out, so who's going to take
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: his spot? Jalen Brown did? Who's going to take Jalen
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: Brown spot? Well, nobody necessarily, but other guys stepped up.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: I think the team is similar to what it was
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: last year, except it's Jason Tatum instead of Jalen Brown.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: Now is that good enough to go all the way?
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: Probably not, But record wise in the in the regular season,
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: they should be as good as they were last year,
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: I think, And I don't.
- 1:29:36Speaker 8: Know if they're trying to win next year at this point,
- 1:29:38Speaker 8: I think they're kind of looking to the future of
- 1:29:40Speaker 8: who are the next Tha. That's what they said last
- 1:29:42Speaker 8: draft and put next to Tatum.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: That's what they said last year. Oh, they're not going
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: to try to win this year. There's a bridge here,
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: and then they ended up being pretty good.
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: Would they have resources to go find another star player
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: on the market.
- 1:29:54Speaker 8: Depends if they want to go over the well, listen,
- 1:29:57Speaker 8: I know the luxury thanks Eldred, Listen.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: I I disagreed with a lot of people. You know,
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: when the Chisholm in Brad Stevens had that Prescott.
- 1:30:10Speaker 8: Private.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: I actually, if as a Patriots fan, I was kind
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: of encouraged by what I heard Chisholm say. Like he
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: he laid it on the line unequivocally and said, I'm
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: going to spend the money when the opportunity in. There's
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: no way for me to prove that unless I do it.
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: So watch what I do, not what I say in
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: other words, and so like So, like I said, it
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: was unequivocal in how he said it. So as a fan,
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, you know you said it. Now put
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: your money where your mouth is. And so I'm encouraged
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: that he was willing to go out there and say that. Now,
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: whether he does it or not, I don't know, but
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: I think he does. Listen, that's the other thing. Not
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: to get off on a Celtics tangent or basketball tangent,
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: but this kind of goes for everything, especially Paul Shows.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: Everybody is quick to say, oh, these new owners, these
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: you know, private equity people, all they do is tear
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: it down and maximize the profit. Okay, show me the
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: example other than a really small market team in any
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: sport where a private equity person comes in tears it
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: down just to make profit. These guys they know business now,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: they know also how to make a profit, but they
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: also know, just because they're smart people, that there's no
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: better thing for business than being competitive and winning championships
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: or at least competing for championships every year. So if
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: you want to maximize the asset that you just bought,
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: get good, get good, don't tear it down and maximize
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: the profit. That's what you know the what's his name,
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: the Red Sox owner John Henry did when he first
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: bought the Red Sox, he immediately built them up in
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: won for World Series the first time in eighty six years.
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: You don't think that helped this bottom line by spending
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: that money. They know so like this. I think it's
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: kind of a myth that all these private equity people
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: tear it down and just go for the profit. I
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: think in small markets that's somewhat the case because they
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: know they really can't compete.
- 1:32:18Speaker 8: Sports are different than other industries. Yeah, and they bought
- 1:32:21Speaker 8: this like you're buying up a dental office.
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: Yeah, in the small market, you buy it to try
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: to keep the profits going and maybe you hit lightning
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: every once in a while, But when you're amd to
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: large market, there's no better thing for your bottom line
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: than to get good and these guys know that. So
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: I think it's kind of a myth that private equity
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: equals tear down your team. I don't agree with that. Well,
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: the hard part is how do you get the wins?
- 1:32:45Speaker 8: You know?
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: And there's so many different ways, And that's what we
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: spend most of our time trying to talk about, especially
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: in recent years, is how do you get how do
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: you get the wins? How do you find the right
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: people to pick the right players then to develop the players,
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: and you know, is there an element of patients too?
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: Like that's you know question for.
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: Me of when it's not going well, do they have
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: the ability to hold the line and say we believe
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: in the system and it's going to go. I mean,
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: I think that's a little bit what the Red Sox
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: are doing right, Like there went through some turbulent times,
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: but they are saying they believe in what they're trying
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: to do, the style of baseball, they're trying to play
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: the players that they're trying to get. But at some point,
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: if it doesn't translate, what happens now, you know, how.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: Do you get there?
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: And I mean that's just that's no matter who owns
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: the team or not, that's a challenge. I mean with
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: the Jacobs family and the Bruins even, I mean I
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: remember this in the eighties talking about how they wouldn't
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: spend on players, you know that. I mean, this has
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: always been a thing with ownerships.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: But that they weren't like private equity people, right, you
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: know what I mean. I'm talking about this new you
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: know belief that all these new owners that's all they're doing.
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I mean it's the bottom line of it though,
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: that you're saying, these guys don't want to play pay players.
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: They would rather try to maximize and then get out
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: at high points and reset, you know what I mean.
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: It's it's I think that's what the concern is, at
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: least when going back to the Bruins.
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: It's like they're not going to pay the stars. And
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: that's what I think. But that's a little that's a
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: kind of a philosophy thing. But still the objective is
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: to win and compete for championships. It's just a different style,
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: you know. But there's just like like I said, there's
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: this belief that they just tear it down and they
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: don't care about winning. It's just making money. If you
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: care about making money, win, that's my point.
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: And then but the fans are going to say, you
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: could win with Mookie Betts, you know, like you could win,
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: like you had the answer in house if you just
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: were willing to pay that person at this point, you know,
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: And that's where it gets hard.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: I think the problem with John Henry is that he
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: won four times, Yeah, kind of sat back and started
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: investing in other things like Liverpool and the Penguins and
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: you know, racing and all this stuff and kind of
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: got spread out a little bit.
- 1:34:47Speaker 8: And so he also benefits from having such a historic
- 1:34:50Speaker 8: venue that there are always going to be butts in
- 1:34:52Speaker 8: the seats at Fenway Park just because it's Fenway Park,
- 1:34:55Speaker 8: you know.
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: I think two, there's just a basis of for fans
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: that they get attached to players and they want to
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: root for those players, and they want to stick with
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: those players.
- 1:35:02Speaker 7: Through their career.
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: And when you look at it through the cold eye
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: of you know, financials and how are we going to
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: set up our system and stuff, sometimes that doesn't matter
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: at all, and you know, there are so many times
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: when you know Bruins players or you know recent times
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: in you know, the Red Sox with Mooki and that
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: kind of thing, and now Jalen Brown. I think that's
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: an easy way to point as a fan where you say,
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: they just traded one of my favorite guys.
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: I love watching Jalen Brown play.
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: It was really the Jays like the J's are no more,
- 1:35:29Speaker 3: you know, that feeling, even though I'm sure there's a
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: side on the equity of it all being like, well,
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: you know this, we felt like his performance maxed out
- 1:35:36Speaker 3: at this point.
- 1:35:37Speaker 7: You know, there's all these like thing.
- 1:35:38Speaker 8: It's like, do they feel like they got the absolute
- 1:35:40Speaker 8: best out of Jalen Brown? And honestly, they really might have.
- 1:35:43Speaker 8: You know, I think it comes.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: Down to get out at the high point. Well that
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: that comes.
- 1:35:47Speaker 8: Down to the player, like he's due for an extension
- 1:35:49Speaker 8: soon too. It's like, do they want to be the
- 1:35:51Speaker 8: one right playing it if they think they already got
- 1:35:53Speaker 8: the best out of him? And how many years were
- 1:35:55Speaker 8: the Jays together or they couldn't quite figure it out
- 1:35:58Speaker 8: all that time? They only won one five finals? You know,
- 1:36:00Speaker 8: it's like, can I have one question.
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: That's just like, are the two first round picks?
- 1:36:04Speaker 7: Is that like throwaway?
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: Like I just because in the NFL that's worth a lot,
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: and I don't feel like anyone.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: It depends if they're like top three.
- 1:36:12Speaker 7: Like a protect.
- 1:36:14Speaker 8: Yeah, Like this year was a really good NBA draft
- 1:36:17Speaker 8: that it was really deep. There's a lot of talent,
- 1:36:19Speaker 8: like the first five six players that went.
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: As as far as it goes. But but I will
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: say this, the other the other selections after that must
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: mean something because every team doesn't have a whole bench
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: full of top five drafting, right, you know what what
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: was Peyton Pritchard drafted him that maybe second round? Second round?
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: I mean, your your depth comes from beyond the top five.
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: So having extra picks there is I would think important.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: But twenty six, that's it's still you know, you don't
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: expect to get stars, right, So so the answer to
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: the question, you know, do those first round picks mean
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: anything if you pick the right guy? They do? You know?
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: And that's the thing is talent identification.
- 1:37:08Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what I mean.
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: The difference between basketball, where you might be two good
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: draft picks away from being really good, whereas football, you know,
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: you have more optimism.
- 1:37:17Speaker 7: I mean, Paul has correctly broken me of anything.
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: On day three.
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: You're not really having any expectations from those guys.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: But still sometimes you know.
- 1:37:25Speaker 8: What that's when you find like the European guys that
- 1:37:28Speaker 8: no one really knows or heard of, and then they
- 1:37:30Speaker 8: end up being like Nikola Jokic.
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: Right, And see, that's to me is what is sexy
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: about sports is when you find those guys and you know,
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: when you're able to you know, even just like tie
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: it to the Patriots.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: Like a guy like Craig Woodson.
- 1:37:43Speaker 7: You know, you can take a fourth round pick and
- 1:37:46Speaker 7: you know, or a third round whatever.
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: He was not really see it initially, like, yeah, he's
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: out there a lot, he looks fast, he looks you know,
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: he looks the parties, and I mean he was kind
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: of quiet in the early part of the season. But
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: they stuck with it. And now, you know, going back,
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: I realized didn't really watch much of this, been watching
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: just pits and pieces of it. But guys everywhere, I mean,
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: you see him really and that's like, wow, that's really
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: cool to be And the more teams that can do that,
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: the better you're going to be. You don't have to
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: be tied to all these like, oh man, we really
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: need to hit in this first round pick because we
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: are screwed. Like, you know, the more contributions you get
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: from those Day two and three guys, the better your
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: organization's going to be.
- 1:38:19Speaker 8: And I really trust Brad Stevens to identify those guys
- 1:38:22Speaker 8: and work them into his system. I mean, and people
- 1:38:26Speaker 8: are really pooping poo pooing this trade, but I think,
- 1:38:29Speaker 8: like you really got to see how it plays out
- 1:38:30Speaker 8: because Brad Stevens has done everything to earn ard trust.
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: It wasn't a good trade value wise, Like there's no
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: way to argue that, oh they got good, they did
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: a good trade, but I think they felt they had
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: to do it. And I look at it the same
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: way as when the Red Sox got rid of Devers.
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: You know, Devers was the face of the franchise, being
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: paid over three hundred million dollars and he was a malcontent.
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: He was the guy the year before.
- 1:38:57Speaker 8: That still whining. Yeah, I know, not even here anymore.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: That's the guy the year before when he was on
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: the Red six complaining they aren't doing enough to help
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: the team. So the next year they bring in Bragmant.
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: Now they maybe didn't communicate well enough with I'll give
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: him that, but they did something to improve the team.
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: He's a better third baseman than Devers is, so Devers,
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: they just helped the team. All you have to do
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: is play DH or first base, and he just wouldn't
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: do it, and he was complaining, complaining. They had the
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: meeting in Colorado with John Henry. Coming out of that meeting,
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: Henry said, you know, we're on a better track. But
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: I think whatever Devers said in that meeting he didn't
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: live up to. And John Henry, in my opinion, rightfully
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: so said, screwl He's out of here. I'm not unwilling
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: to pay somebody that much money, but I'm not paying him.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: I'm not paying the face of my franchise that much money.
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: And he's going to be a malcontent and sit on
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: the gatorade bucket the whole game and not interact with
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: his teammates, and it's just not worth it. So I'll
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: take the hit and just get rid of him. Yeah,
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: you know, I get it. I I I would have
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: done the same thing as an owner. I'm not I'm
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: not giving a guy like that all that money. Yeah,
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: that's that's a hard choice to make.
- 1:40:10Speaker 7: I mean, that's what I mean. Owners are all really.
- 1:40:12Speaker 3: Rich, but that's why you know, they have to make
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: those hard decisions. And I mean especially when you think
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: about some of the people that you know aren't even
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: really around the sport all that much. Like how much
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: knowledge does Chisholm have about basketball? You know, what's his background? Like,
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: you know, all these guys come from it from a
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: different place. So it'll be interesting to see how it
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: all plays out. But I just root for the fans.
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: You want to keep like good players around and have
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: your stars in town.
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: And unlike Paul, you root for the fans.
- 1:40:35Speaker 5: Well.
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: I think Paul and I have two very different like
- 1:40:37Speaker 3: like I have a prototypical fan in my head that
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: I always like when I do this job, and I
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: think about somebody who loves this team, somebody who you know,
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: when you go through hard times in life, it's a
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: source of joy or something, you know, Like that's and
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: and they want to know about the team, and that's
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: you know when I and then you know, and I
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: think Paul thinks more about like the people who are
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: like they think they're awesome, they don't they you know,
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: I get pissed about everything, you know, like.
- 1:40:59Speaker 8: All people that harass him on Twitter.
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: He wants the world to be forever in neutral. He
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: doesn't want any highs, he doesn't want any lows. He
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: just wants everything to be neutral. The flat line, bluff pose.
- 1:41:13Speaker 7: He's a picture.
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: That's how picture should be, right.
- 1:41:15Speaker 7: You know downs Gary and rock Hill, South Carolina.
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: I can relate to the conversation on Thursday's podcast about
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: being a fan of a second team. Yeah, who's your
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: second team in basketball?
- 1:41:28Speaker 8: Do you have one in basketball? Probably San Antonio right now?
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: Okay, why.
- 1:41:33Speaker 8: I've always liked san Antonio. I've always respected them as
- 1:41:36Speaker 8: an organization, going back to you know their days.
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: Ah.
- 1:41:41Speaker 8: No, you know who I like even more than Wimby
- 1:41:43Speaker 8: is the what's that kid's name?
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: What's his name?
- 1:41:48Speaker 7: Don't ask me, Dylan.
- 1:41:52Speaker 8: Whatever, the son of Yeah, the kid from Yukon, Dylan
- 1:41:57Speaker 8: Harper Junior.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: Oh, I know who you're talking about. I know, I
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: know who you're talking to me. Yeah.
- 1:42:04Speaker 8: Literally, anyway, you're just.
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: Like I just while you looking up that, Gary says,
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: I moved to Charlotte in nine as a diehard Patriots
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: fan since seventy three and try to adopt the Panthers
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: as my NFC team. I even bought PSLs in twenty
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: thirteen for a few years to try to enjoy the
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: local team here, and living only twenty minutes from the stadium,
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: it was a no brainer. I'm originally from Maine and
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: used to drive two plus hours to each Patriots game
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: when I lived in New England, so the new situation
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: seemed great, right wrong. As a lifelong Patriots fan, I
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: would sit in my first row club seats and watch
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: the Patriots on my phone instead of watching the live
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: game in front of me. The only enjoyment I ever
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: got at Panthers games where if the Panthers were in town,
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: where if the Patriots were in town, and I'd be
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: representing my real team. So no, you can't be a
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: fan of two teams in my opinion. I also wanted
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: to pointut out that in the World Cup game between
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: Colombia and Switzerland ending in regulation at nil nil, the
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: British announcer don't know his name, mentioned that this game
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: was like watching the nineteen eighty five Bears play the
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: two thousand Ravens. I was blown away by the NFL knowledge.
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: Good reference. Yeah, you had a lot of that throughout
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: the world. Yeah, especially English.
- 1:43:20Speaker 8: Those English broadcasters are pros. They are geez, they are
- 1:43:24Speaker 8: doing their homework. You know Dylan Harper junior.
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: Ron Harper's son, Yeah, okay, okay, and he.
- 1:43:29Speaker 8: Plays like Ron harper son like nineties.
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: I have to say I had a basketball I had
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: a friend in high school and that right around the
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: time the forty nine Ers were winning all the championships,
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: and he always loved the forty nine ers, of course,
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: and the Patriots were terrible in the early nineties. But
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: I have to say I respect him because he still
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: loves the forty nine ers. Like I ran into him
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: a couple of years ago and I was like, wow,
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: you really took your like little bandwagon and you wrote it,
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: you kept riding it.
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: So I respect that. And I kind of generally agree
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: with somebody who tried to root for other teams. And
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: I like Seattle when I was a kid. I don't
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: know why.
- 1:43:59Speaker 7: I think. I don't even know why, Like I had
- 1:44:01Speaker 7: Steve Largish in Jersey, I don't.
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: I'm trying to ask my dad.
- 1:44:04Speaker 7: E didn't remember if we had come and seen Seattle
- 1:44:06Speaker 7: play here.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: Maybe that was why.
- 1:44:07Speaker 7: I have no idea, But I love the Seahawks.
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: Anyone like Darius Rucker? Yeah, hoody, well, Alan in South Carolina.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: I will be at Leeder Park Leader Bank Pavilion in
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: Boston on Saturday with Darius Rucker. If anyone on the
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: crew would like free tickets in a meet and greet,
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: please let me know.
- 1:44:27Speaker 7: Oh that's pretty cool, that's pretty cool.
- 1:44:29Speaker 8: He mailed me about that too.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: Oh did he?
- 1:44:31Speaker 8: Yeah? I sadly, I sadly, I'm busy. Well, he was
- 1:44:34Speaker 8: trying the same email. I was trying to hook me
- 1:44:36Speaker 8: up with Lona Delray last year. It got like, I
- 1:44:38Speaker 8: think rained out up Benway and me and my sister.
- 1:44:40Speaker 7: Couldn't make it.
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: But this looks like that's a good plug. Yeah, but
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: you can actually meet him. Yeah, he sounds like you rad.
- 1:44:47Speaker 7: Yeah, what's your favorite hooty in the Bluefish song? I
- 1:44:50Speaker 7: have no idea, will you?
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: They were hot like ninety five. Yeah.
- 1:44:57Speaker 8: Well, now he's doing the country thing and he's really
- 1:44:59Speaker 8: good at that.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: He's a great singer. Yep.
- 1:45:02Speaker 8: I've seen him in Charleston, South Carolina, like on the
- 1:45:04Speaker 8: street before.
- 1:45:06Speaker 7: I remember him from being interesting.
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: But also the same time I've talked about before ice
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: mugs like frozen mugs, you know, when you can like
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: they're frozen on the inside.
- 1:45:13Speaker 7: You freeze them and they remember like those.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: Pieces of ice and when the.
- 1:45:19Speaker 8: Liquid between them, Like.
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: I got to get one of those. Vancouver Sean writes in,
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: I want to comment on Christian's hypothesis with the Rams
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: dream team, It's not like the twenty eleven Eagles. This
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: is more about a good team adding key players and
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: getting better. That's different than just bringing in a bunch
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: of free agents with no kind of chemistry. They already
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: had a great team. This is just adding someone else.
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: I think this actually helps the Rams and they will
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: probably win the NFC West. It's kind of a good point.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: I end up bringing in a bunch of free agents,
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: you know, all at once.
- 1:45:51Speaker 7: Yeah, a little bit on defense though, I mean, you know,
- 1:45:54Speaker 7: a little bit on a little.
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: Bit on defense.
- 1:45:55Speaker 7: I get the point though.
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: I just I got to look at this twenty eleven
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: Eagles roster because I remember them talking about it. But
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: my god, they were I mean, it's just the Vince
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: Young said it like it's.
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: Uh. I'm Jod just writes in to say, I'm a
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: big fan of the show and Bayern Munich my world
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: Cup prediction is that England will take the Cup home.
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, these guys aren't even like in the same atmosphere.
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: I mean, so it was Michael Vick was the league quarterback,
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: Leshawn McCoy, then the dangerous receiving trio of Jason Avant
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: DeShawn Jackson. He's okay, Jeremy Macklin, Brent Selik at tight end,
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: I mean, Jason Peters at left tackle, sure, Jason Kelsey
- 1:46:36Speaker 3: at center. Just a rookie, not not quite a Hall
- 1:46:38Speaker 3: of Famer yet, but I mean on defense it's like
- 1:46:42Speaker 3: Asante and nam Dias wat Otherwise, I mean, Jason Babin,
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: Colin Jenkins like fine, But I know this rams teams
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: in its own class. I would say this year as
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: far as talent, and I just think the one thing
- 1:46:55Speaker 3: is Stafford. That's the biggest piece of it. And it's
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: not that hard for me to imagine the rookie from
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: Alabama what's his name, you know, having a sub in
- 1:47:04Speaker 3: there and be their quarterback like that.
- 1:47:05Speaker 7: That's I mean, that would be interesting too.
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: But they got weapons, they got running backs, they got
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: a bunch of tight ends. They can I mean, they
- 1:47:11Speaker 3: have a brilliant coordinator right, and their talent on the
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: defensive side of the ball is through the roof on
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: all levels, So I'd be.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: Exciting to watch.
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: I gotta try to That's kind of one of my
- 1:47:21Speaker 3: goals here watch more of some of the other teams
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: in the league, just to you know, get a better sense.
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: I mean, I watched the highlights, but I like to
- 1:47:27Speaker 3: be a little bit more dedicated to just seeing what's
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: going on around the league and knowing those teams a
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: little bit better, so you get still locked in on
- 1:47:33Speaker 3: the Patriots.
- 1:47:34Speaker 7: It's it's hard sometimes He's just easy.
- 1:47:36Speaker 8: Lot of you guys doing the show every Sunday.
- 1:47:38Speaker 7: Yeah, it's just I'm like, you know, Mondays are not
- 1:47:40Speaker 7: crazy for us when we do the show.
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: I was like, maybe Monday, I could, you know, try
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: to blast through a little bit and just try to,
- 1:47:45Speaker 3: you know, look at some of the stuff that that's
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: going on in the league.
- 1:47:47Speaker 7: It's it's one of the things I try to do.
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: This off Kevin. He'll tell you now, I want to
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: shout out a two days later the.
- 1:47:55Speaker 3: You know this, I've been looking a lot. I subscribe
- 1:47:57Speaker 3: to the site match Quarters. They do a great job.
- 1:48:00Speaker 3: This guy Cody, he does daily posts about hardcore defensive
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: ex's and o's, and I've really been enjoyed at this
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: offseason just trying to expand my knowledge base a little
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: bit about, you know, trends in the NFL and you
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: know what teams are doing, because it's always to me
- 1:48:14Speaker 3: like and that's what I always appreciated about Evan, even
- 1:48:17Speaker 3: before he came and worked here, was just there's a
- 1:48:19Speaker 3: chess game going on on the field that most fans.
- 1:48:22Speaker 7: Have absolutely no idea what the hell is going on.
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: And I just find those intricacies of the chess match
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: to be, you know, really fascinating.
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: So trying to continue to learn to get a little
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: This is an email that Alex highlighted in the last newsletter,
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: but I'll read it because it's a good segue. I'm
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: fortunate enough to say, this is Jake that I purchased
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: my first ever home down in Connecticut. It's the nineteen
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: forty eight KPE large back in front yard with an
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: above ground pool, central air oil heating. Fred. I'm looking
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: for any helpful tips and tricks for owning a home. Well,
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: you have four that's your remail, soh I have something
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: for you. Jay. I'm going to be launching my own podcast.
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: We're filming our first episode on Sunday. I don't know
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: exactly when it's going to come out. After that, I'll
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: let people know. It's called Live from the Toby House
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: and it's all about my house, which is yours is
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: new construction compared to mine. Mine was built in sixteen ninety.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: But owning an old home do you do it yourself? Stuff?
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: You know, it's kind of an extension of this show. Appliances,
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: tools like you know, for example, you know the five
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: tools you need as a new homeowner, Like, oh, things
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: like that. That's good. I could have used this podcast
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: things like that. And you know, we'll talk about the
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: history of the cape a little bit. And I got
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: to go to Dennis and check out some stuff in Dennis.
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: My mom's house is a historic house too, and they
- 1:49:51Speaker 3: have like the kingswood markings on it something if they.
- 1:49:53Speaker 7: Like picked it up and moved it. So is your
- 1:49:55Speaker 7: host I always been in that location.
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: That's one of the things about My house is one
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: of the rare ones that is in its original plot.
- 1:50:03Speaker 8: Mostly it's move inland, right or a lot.
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: Of them, well a lot of them are just because
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: of I think construction going on and they just move
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: the house. Yeah.
- 1:50:11Speaker 8: In Sandwich, are you seeing people buying up these like
- 1:50:13Speaker 8: little cape houses and just building like little MC mansions
- 1:50:18Speaker 8: on them in some places?
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, if they're not historically protected. There's you know,
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: I live close to Sandwich Village and it's all these
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: old homes and there are some of the older ones
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: that they took them down and on the plot they
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: just filled it with just a house. Just no more,
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: you are, there's just one big house.
- 1:50:38Speaker 7: California.
- 1:50:38Speaker 8: Maximize your rental property. Get all those bedrooms in there
- 1:50:42Speaker 8: so you can charge.
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: Yeah. This book.
- 1:50:46Speaker 3: I was at my mom's house this weekend and I
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: stumbled upon The Evolution of the Cape Cod House and
- 1:50:50Speaker 3: Architectural History by Arthur P.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: Richmond.
- 1:50:53Speaker 7: It's a delightful book. All kinds of blueprints.
- 1:50:55Speaker 8: Now this is like houses on the cape, or like
- 1:50:57Speaker 8: the style of a cape.
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: Like the the same, the same, I know what you're
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: trying to ask, totally because the cape.
- 1:51:04Speaker 7: I mean, our house is a cape. I mean it's
- 1:51:05Speaker 7: very customizable.
- 1:51:08Speaker 3: But this is you know, and shoot, I wish I
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: had remembered it was the Toby House because they have
- 1:51:12Speaker 3: all these different historical houses mentioned in it, but you know,
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: the blueprints talk about what they were like.
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: You know in the sixteen hundreds, I mean cheap is creepers,
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: that's I mean, there's well, there's a map store in Chatham.
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: It's antique maps and stuff, and they have antique postcards
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: and everything. And I found a postcard of my house. Really,
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: but they called it the old house and they had
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: it wrong because it's definitely my house.
- 1:51:39Speaker 7: Was it never an inn or a restaurant until resident They.
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: Say maybe in the seventeen hundreds it might have been
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: operated as a tavern because it's got that central chimney
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: that powers five different fireplaces, but you can see they
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: added one, two, four extra fireplace chimneys cooking place, so
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: they think that it might have been operated as a
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: tavern at one point. That's cool.
- 1:52:06Speaker 7: Ghosts any ghosts.
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: I haven't seen any.
- 1:52:09Speaker 8: You know, my cousin runs a ghost tour in Provincetown.
- 1:52:13Speaker 8: Oh yah, yeah, she's done it for probably like fifteen
- 1:52:16Speaker 8: years or so now. But there's a lot of history
- 1:52:19Speaker 8: out there, a lot of haunted history.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: It's really serial killer that was out there. Back to
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: Chop Chop Tony Chop Chop, the Lady of the Dunes.
- 1:52:26Speaker 8: Yeah, and I think they recently solved the mystery of
- 1:52:29Speaker 8: the Lady of the Dunes. But that was the big
- 1:52:31Speaker 8: province town.
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: Yeah, no, way born a dune.
- 1:52:37Speaker 8: No, it's a woman that had all her limbs cut
- 1:52:39Speaker 8: off and was her head almost completely severed off by
- 1:52:43Speaker 8: this notorious serial killer who was nicknamed Tony Chop Chop
- 1:52:47Speaker 8: in Provincetown or Truro somewhere on the outer Cape. But
- 1:52:51Speaker 8: they just found her body in the dunes, and I
- 1:52:53Speaker 8: think they traced it back to like she was like
- 1:52:54Speaker 8: a woman in the Midwest that was working on the
- 1:52:56Speaker 8: cape for the summer.
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: Yeah, he Op Chop. He did the same to a
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: guy cut his legs and arms off to him in
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: the ocean. They called him Bob.
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: Funny enough, Fred, I was on the Albatross and I
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: heard it, like a ten year old kid make that
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: exact same joke.
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: Across that joke.
- 1:53:13Speaker 8: What do you call it?
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: Kad with no arms legs, Bob lying in front of
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: the door, Matt the full guy with no arms legs jokes.
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: All right, Okay, be good, Fred, I'm excited. Yeah I
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: am too, But it's gonna be a lot of work.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: I did graphics and stuff. We're gonna get.
- 1:53:33Speaker 8: Him, okay, shooping like Karina.
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: So what we did in the first episode show people
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: what my house looked back in the day. We went
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: down the street and we did a tour of the
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: Hoxey House, which is a museum now and it's exactly
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: the way it was back then. So we filmed that
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: to show what my house looked like back then. And
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: then we'll do a tour of my house and then
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: we'll branch.
- 1:53:56Speaker 8: Out into like you people, to show people like the
- 1:54:00Speaker 8: your home.
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: Yeah, kind of a little bit like you're done, have
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: to my dedications.
- 1:54:05Speaker 7: Yeah, that's the dungeon. We don't go down there.
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: Yeah, what's that noise?
- 1:54:09Speaker 7: Don't worry now, it's nothing, nothing, just in the basement.
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: All right. That's gonna be it for this show. We're
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: back to our regular schedule for now anyway, So we'll
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: be back on Thursday at noon. Is it going to
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: be just the three of us again? Just the three?
- 1:54:28Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: I guess so, huh maybe. Okay, there is catch twenty two. Oh,
