- 0:31Speaker 1: It is time to leave your worries outside and laugh
- 0:35Speaker 1: with us inside the Treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley, along with
- 0:40Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma on a Tuesday, December tenth,
- 0:49Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. Before we get into our regularly it's
- 0:58Speaker 1: a hard word to say, by the way, before we
- 1:00Speaker 1: get into our regularly scheduled stupid content DFW area has
- 1:09Speaker 1: been hit with more sad news and it affects us
- 1:14Speaker 1: and you here inside the Treehouse. On Sunday night, around
- 1:21Speaker 1: eleven pm, a Tarrell police officer was killed during a
- 1:27Speaker 1: traffic stop. According to police, the incident occurred when the officer,
- 1:34Speaker 1: identified by Taryll police as Jacob Candonosa, stopped a driver
- 1:39Speaker 1: in the parking lot of a Super eight motel along
- 1:42Speaker 1: the sixteen hundred block of South State Highway thirty four.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Police said Candonosa requested a cover unit during the traffic stop,
- 1:50Speaker 1: and additional officers were sent to the location within moments
- 1:56Speaker 1: of dispatching the other officers. The Tarot Police Department Communications
- 1:59Speaker 1: Division received two nine one one calls regarding an officer
- 2:03Speaker 1: being shot. The department also received a radio transmission from
- 2:08Speaker 1: a citizen who used the officer's radio to give the
- 2:11Speaker 1: same information. Tarot Police officers, as well as the Tarot
- 2:16Speaker 1: Fire Department and Care Flight responded to the scene. According
- 2:20Speaker 1: to police, that responding officers confirmed an officer had been
- 2:23Speaker 1: shot and immediately began to administer medical attention. Officer Candonosa
- 2:28Speaker 1: was transported to Baylor, Scott and White Family Medical Center
- 2:31Speaker 1: in Forney, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Officer
- 2:37Speaker 1: Candanosa was a police officer with the Tarot Police Department
- 2:40Speaker 1: since July of this year. The department said he leaves
- 2:44Speaker 1: behind a wife and a young child. According to Lieutenant
- 2:51Speaker 1: Mary Hager of the Tarot Police Department, we want to
- 2:54Speaker 1: extend our deepest condolences to the family during this hard time. Also,
- 2:58Speaker 1: according to Hager, Candanosa gave the responding officers the suspects
- 3:02Speaker 1: license plate information. Following the traffic stop. Off duty officers
- 3:06Speaker 1: and Texas State troopers later spotted the suspects vehicle in
- 3:10Speaker 1: the Canton, Texas area in Van Zank County, about thirty
- 3:13Speaker 1: miles east of Terrell. Officer searched the area by foot
- 3:18Speaker 1: with canines and drones. Yes, East Texas has drones, and
- 3:24Speaker 1: reported that the suspect had been taken into custody around
- 3:27Speaker 1: the Mill Creek Resort off I twenty around five thirty
- 3:30Speaker 1: in the morning Monday, was being held at the Kaufman
- 3:33Speaker 1: County Detention Center. Tarot Police Chief Arley Santsom said before
- 3:38Speaker 1: dawn on Monday that this has been a very difficult
- 3:40Speaker 1: time for his department they and that they would release
- 3:43Speaker 1: more information later. Tarot Police. At the time of this
- 3:47Speaker 1: recording and the time of this particular story from NBCDFW,
- 3:53Speaker 1: Tarot Police have not shared any additional information or really
- 3:56Speaker 1: any information about the suspect that was apprehended. Yes, the
- 4:04Speaker 1: RMS Treehouse Listeners Foundation will be issuing a check to
- 4:08Speaker 1: the family of Officer Jacob Candanoso in an extremely similar
- 4:15Speaker 1: incident to the situation that just happened in Greenville, Texas,
- 4:23Speaker 1: another young officer who had left behind a young family.
- 4:31Speaker 1: And in this instance, this location of this incident, it
- 4:36Speaker 1: falls within the boundary of the foundation, so we will
- 4:40Speaker 1: be able to issue a check to his surviving members
- 4:43Speaker 1: of his family, unlike the situation of the Greenville officer
- 4:47Speaker 1: where that fell outside the territory. I say all that
- 4:50Speaker 1: because we always want to remain transparent with the Foundation
- 4:54Speaker 1: as we always have because it's not our money in there.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I mean, there's some of our money in there, but
- 5:00Speaker 1: the vast majority of the money that's in the foundation
- 5:03Speaker 1: is your money. The Listener's Foundation, that's what it is.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And as stewards are the foundation, it is our job
- 5:09Speaker 1: to then disperse the funds according to the bylaws that
- 5:14Speaker 1: were enacted by Russ, Martin and Trey years and years ago,
- 5:18Speaker 1: so that will be happening. And we also would received
- 5:22Speaker 1: word that officer came to knows so while he was
- 5:25Speaker 1: only with Terrell since July of this year, he was
- 5:29Speaker 1: prior to that a Dallas County Sheriff's deputy. So once again,
- 5:35Speaker 1: I mean, it's one of those situations that it's on
- 5:39Speaker 1: an outer area of what's considered DFW or the Metroplex,
- 5:44Speaker 1: but this does fall within the geographical boundary of the
- 5:48Speaker 1: Foundation and will be issuing funds for his family. And
- 5:56Speaker 1: this will be the fourth check that the Foundation will
- 6:03Speaker 1: have written since August, just since August, and it's the
- 6:08Speaker 1: fifth officer since August to fall in the line of duty.
- 6:14Speaker 1: So in that time, just since August, the Foundation has
- 6:17Speaker 1: issued four checks and in order to keep issuing those funds,
- 6:24Speaker 1: especially at the dollar amount at which we issue them,
- 6:28Speaker 1: which is forty thousand dollars. We need more money and
- 6:32Speaker 1: if you know, we'd like to continue to do that.
- 6:39Speaker 1: In order for us to do it, they're just you know,
- 6:41Speaker 1: you've got to have more money in it. That's the unfortunate,
- 6:43Speaker 1: clear and cut reality. So if you would like to
- 6:47Speaker 1: donate to the RMS tree House Listeners Foundation, you may
- 6:51Speaker 1: do so. Go to Treehouse on air dot com, click
- 6:53Speaker 1: on Listeners Donation or the tab at the top. There
- 6:55Speaker 1: are all the ways to donate right there.
- 6:58Speaker 2: And I'd like to say something about this, and we
- 7:01Speaker 2: can we can edit this out, Dan, if you so choose,
- 7:06Speaker 2: But so everyone understands, like even with the situation with
- 7:11Speaker 2: the Greenwelle officer, when someone passed away, had they stuck
- 7:16Speaker 2: their original will and not given their entire estate to
- 7:18Speaker 2: the owner of an adult theater, we probably could have
- 7:22Speaker 2: extended the parameters of the foundation.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I thought about that occasionally. I have, so just a
- 7:37Speaker 1: whole lot of head nodding going on here. So yeah,
- 7:47Speaker 1: if you would like to donate, where you know, the
- 7:50Speaker 1: money goes to the families of fallen police officers and firefighters,
- 7:54Speaker 1: in DFW. You can do so go to Treehouse on
- 7:58Speaker 1: Air dot com and click on Listener's Foundation or the
- 8:01Speaker 1: little tab at the very top that says RMS Treehouse
- 8:04Speaker 1: Listeners Foundation Donate tab. You can do that right there.
- 8:07Speaker 1: In the meantime, we still have a show to do
- 8:11Speaker 1: and we are going to do it and while remembering,
- 8:15Speaker 1: you know, the fallen officer and those that have fallen
- 8:18Speaker 1: before him, We'll continue to do what we do and
- 8:23Speaker 1: hopes that we can continue to do those other things
- 8:26Speaker 1: that we also do. Which sounds very vague if taken
- 8:30Speaker 1: out of context, but trust me, it's it's not all
- 8:32Speaker 1: just you know, boogers and farts. There's also some actual
- 8:37Speaker 1: philanthropy going on around here.
- 8:42Speaker 3: You're in tree House, visit us online at treehouseonair dot com.

- 11:41Speaker 1: wrong answers only?
- 11:43Speaker 4: Oh yeah, let's do it all right.
- 11:46Speaker 1: It is time or wrong answers only inside the one
- 11:49Speaker 1: and only tree House. That is where I will In
- 11:51Speaker 1: today's edition, a holiday edition, pose a headline to Trey
- 11:56Speaker 1: and Raj and ask them to fill in the blank
- 11:59Speaker 1: with a wrong an So, gentlemen, let's get started. A
- 12:04Speaker 1: Florida man honors a classic holiday movie with a giant
- 12:10Speaker 1: replica blank in his yard. A Florida man, hang, I've
- 12:20Speaker 1: already forgot what it was. A Florida man honors a
- 12:24Speaker 1: classic holiday movie with a giant replica blank in his yard.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I need your wrong answers only, Raj? What do you have?
- 12:37Speaker 4: Can can we say? Dild?
- 12:40Speaker 1: I don't know?
- 12:40Speaker 8: Can you I just that's what my guess would be,
- 12:44Speaker 8: is that all right? Giant replica dildo in his yard A.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Nice big holiday dong. No, that is not the correct answer,
- 12:50Speaker 1: but that makes it a wrong answer, So good job, Trey.
- 12:55Speaker 1: A Florida man honors a classic holiday movie with a
- 12:58Speaker 1: giant replica blank in his yard. I need your wrong answer.
- 13:02Speaker 9: Only knock a Tony tower.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Ooh, that is a wrong answer, which makes it a
- 13:08Speaker 1: correct answer on wrong answers only. And my god, this
- 13:11Speaker 1: game show is confusing. I'm glad I'm not drunk. The
- 13:16Speaker 1: correct answer is. A Florida man honors a classic holiday
- 13:20Speaker 1: movie with a giant replica leg lamp in his yard.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Ah. Yes, from the movie you guys love so much?
- 13:31Speaker 1: You still have never seen a Christmas story?
- 13:33Speaker 4: Have you? I did? I watched it all.
- 13:35Speaker 1: That's right, I forgot. Yeah, you did watch it, but
- 13:37Speaker 1: you hated it, Yes, trampling all over all over my
- 13:41Speaker 1: loving nostalgia.
- 13:42Speaker 8: Yes, and I drunkenly told Peter Billingsley that I didn't
- 13:46Speaker 8: like the movie.
- 13:48Speaker 1: That's right. This sort of this is this is not
- 13:50Speaker 1: just the time of year to celebrate the birth of Christ, allegedly,
- 13:53Speaker 1: but also to celebrate the time that Raj once told
- 13:58Speaker 1: the actor who portrayed Ralphie that movie doctor.
- 14:01Speaker 8: Yes, and he was mad for a second, but he
- 14:03Speaker 8: said the same thing. He goes when did you watch it?
- 14:06Speaker 8: And I said a couple of weeks ago. He goes,
- 14:08Speaker 8: that's why you didn't like it?
- 14:09Speaker 1: Yeah, because you were how old when you watched it?
- 14:12Speaker 4: Forty five for four? Yeah?
- 14:16Speaker 1: Had you seen it when you were four or five,
- 14:18Speaker 1: you might have loved it?
- 14:20Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, really really from Chile? How dumb your dad?
- 14:28Speaker 1: I'm with Raj.
- 14:28Speaker 9: I think it's a horrible movie.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Thank you so much?
- 14:33Speaker 1: How dare you?
- 14:34Speaker 2: Yes, Vindicator, have never understood people's love and obsession with
- 14:40Speaker 2: that movie.
- 14:41Speaker 1: A Christmas Story is not a horrible movie. Zombieavers is
- 14:44Speaker 1: a horrible movie. A Christmas Story is a childhood classic.
- 14:49Speaker 4: I would rather watch Zombieavers.
- 14:52Speaker 8: Twenty four hours on Christmas Day or whatever it is.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Then that crap movie. But the kid who plays the
- 15:04Speaker 4: and it.
- 15:05Speaker 8: He follows me on Instagram, so he kind of likes
- 15:07Speaker 8: my post from here every now and again. So Zach something,
- 15:10Speaker 8: I can't remember his name, I know you're talking about.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you know what, I'll let the local news
- 15:16Speaker 1: experts take it from here, telling us about the gentleman
- 15:20Speaker 1: in Florida who has the twenty foot leg lamp shrine
- 15:26Speaker 1: to a Christmas story in his yard. Fore Man and
- 15:28Speaker 1: Neptune Beach took his love of the nineteen eightiest Christmas movie.
- 15:32Speaker 1: By the way, if you ever wonder what happens to
- 15:33Speaker 1: old strip club DJs, occasionally they end up as TV.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Anchors, and so does the old strippers apparently.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I bet they were great at the Platinum Club together nineteen.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I could just hear him calling for the shot specials
- 15:51Speaker 1: now fore Man and Neptune Beach took his love en
- 15:54Speaker 1: eighties Christmas movie to the next level.
- 15:56Speaker 9: Yeah you know it.
- 15:57Speaker 5: He recreated the leg lamp from A Christmas Story, but
- 16:01Speaker 5: made it larger than life.
- 16:03Speaker 1: This is Gary and Cinnamon from Yes from the news
- 16:12Speaker 1: for Jacksonville News Station.
- 16:15Speaker 10: You're looking at an exact repica of the leg lamp
- 16:18Speaker 10: from a Christmas Story. It is four percent bigger than
- 16:23Speaker 10: the one that appears in the movie.
- 16:25Speaker 11: So it's twenty feet tall.
- 16:27Speaker 1: How convenient twenty feet tall happens to be four hundred
- 16:30Speaker 1: and twenty percent larger than the original from the film
- 16:36Speaker 1: Florida's going to Florida each and every time.
- 16:39Speaker 8: Yeah, that's just that's when you have too much money.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I don't think that's a whole lot of money. Because
- 16:45Speaker 1: this guy, he did it himself. This was a holiday
- 16:48Speaker 1: DIY project. Here let him. Let him tell you all
- 16:50Speaker 1: the the parts that went into making his homemade twenty
- 16:55Speaker 1: foot leg lamp, which if you notice around the lower
- 17:00Speaker 1: leg of the leg lamp, there's a replica Ralphie in
- 17:03Speaker 1: the bunny suit hugging the lower part of the leg.
- 17:08Speaker 10: This is golf netting that I bought off Amazon's. It
- 17:12Speaker 10: was like ten dollars.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Yep, the fringe or you catch that. So golf netting
- 17:17Speaker 1: is what makes up the fish net, and then you
- 17:21Speaker 1: got fringe for the edge of the lamp.
- 17:24Speaker 10: Teenage fringe is the half mile of that. Everyone's decorating
- 17:28Speaker 10: their houses, and I thought it'd be fun to have
- 17:30Speaker 10: like like a neighborhood like competition who could have like
- 17:32Speaker 10: the best Christmas decorations. And I was tossing attorney one
- 17:36Speaker 10: night and then I had like this epiphany. As a
- 17:39Speaker 10: kid in like the eighties, like going to see two
- 17:41Speaker 10: and three movies in a weekend, and now like the
- 17:44Speaker 10: movies just don't.
- 17:46Speaker 11: Really do it.
- 17:49Speaker 10: People come by and like they're sometimes their kids haven't
- 17:51Speaker 10: seen the movie, and they're like, oh no, we got
- 17:54Speaker 10: to go home. We're going to force you to watch
- 17:55Speaker 10: this movie, a forty year old movie with no CGI
- 17:59Speaker 10: and people are still courting it forty years later.
- 18:02Speaker 1: It's interesting. So he's got golf netting for the fish net.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Then he's got a fringe half mile of fringe around
- 18:10Speaker 1: the bottom edge of the lamp. And I'm guessing the
- 18:13Speaker 1: lamp shade is made from uh SpaceX robot parachutes or
- 18:19Speaker 1: maybe just left over from the Columbia disaster.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Oh Jesus.
- 18:28Speaker 8: Uh yeah, it's that's when you have too much time
- 18:33Speaker 8: and money. That's what it was. And he's tossing and
- 18:36Speaker 8: turning and had an epiphany and that's what he came
- 18:38Speaker 8: up with.
- 18:40Speaker 9: Thank he's sm smoke a second bowl and then.
- 18:43Speaker 8: Yeah, that's what I was about to say, like, that's
- 18:45Speaker 8: that's a that's a that's a weird thought.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Yeah, is what makes that happen. The troubling thing for
- 18:51Speaker 1: me is the the news crew lets him go on
- 18:53Speaker 1: and describing what he used to make the leg lamp.
- 18:57Speaker 1: But I don't see the portion in the piece where
- 19:00Speaker 1: they asked him about what do you use to make that?
- 19:02Speaker 4: Kid?
- 19:03Speaker 1: Like did someone go up to that that Ralphie in
- 19:06Speaker 1: the bunny costume and poke him just to make sure,
- 19:09Speaker 1: it's not somebody's kid, it is Florida.
- 19:14Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean yeah, you know, part time, part time job,
- 19:19Speaker 8: acting gig.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Or the fact that that shoe is big enough to
- 19:23Speaker 1: sleep in, which is maybe the reason why this dude
- 19:25Speaker 1: was tossing and turning all night. He was trying to
- 19:28Speaker 1: figure out what am I going to do with this
- 19:30Speaker 1: big old shoe?
- 19:30Speaker 2: Ah, I do, I do think you were unfair though
- 19:33Speaker 2: when you said disparaging the Jacksonville News team saying they
- 19:38Speaker 2: were former you know, strip club DJ and dancer. I
- 19:41Speaker 2: think they might be current and you know they just
- 19:43Speaker 2: got off shift and then went directly in the morning show.
- 19:46Speaker 1: You know what, You're right, I have assumed too much.
- 20:00Speaker 6: You're listening to the Treehouse.
- 20:03Speaker 7: Visit us online that Treehouse on air dot com.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Let's get Jaqueline from Brooks Plumbing into the Treehouse now.
- 20:14Speaker 1: For any and all of your plumbing wants and needs,
- 20:16Speaker 1: give her and all of them. They're a call two
- 20:18Speaker 1: one fourth, three six eight thirty eight thirty eight the
- 20:20Speaker 1: website Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com. When I had my
- 20:24Speaker 1: house in Dallas, Jacqueline, you came out a few times
- 20:27Speaker 1: to help us with some issues and your response time
- 20:30Speaker 1: was phenomenal. And it wasn't just because it was me.
- 20:33Speaker 1: It was because that's the kind of company you run.
- 20:35Speaker 1: You go out of your way trying to help every
- 20:38Speaker 1: client and try to get there as soon as you can.
- 20:40Speaker 12: Well, I mean, the reality of it is is that
- 20:43Speaker 12: plumbing is unfortunately a need and not so much a want. Yes,
- 20:46Speaker 12: you can want to remodel the bathroom and that's not pressing,
- 20:50Speaker 12: but typically when it comes to service or leak investigations,
- 20:53Speaker 12: et cetera, et cetera, if you've got to stoppage on
- 20:56Speaker 12: the mainline and you don't know and you keep putting
- 21:00Speaker 12: liquid or you know, waste into the drains, if it
- 21:05Speaker 12: has nowhere to go, we'll come back in the house.
- 21:08Speaker 12: And at that point in time, it's no longer a want,
- 21:11Speaker 12: it's a need, and that sort of thing can't wait.

- 22:19Speaker 1: The uh? The grave is about to get crunk y'all
- 22:23Speaker 1: because in England, a unique cemetery says grieving relatives must
- 22:30Speaker 1: pay for VIP passes to visit graves. I don't know
- 22:37Speaker 1: if I've ever had to get on the list to
- 22:39Speaker 1: see Grandma before, but if she starts fist bumping out
- 22:44Speaker 1: of that grave, I'm out.
- 22:46Speaker 4: I hate to be the bouncer.
- 22:50Speaker 1: If you have a VIP section, you gotta have a bouncer.
- 22:53Speaker 1: There's gotta be a guy with a headset and the
- 22:55Speaker 1: clipboard and maybe even a velvet road.
- 22:59Speaker 4: Yeah, bottle service, you gotta have. You gotta pop those bottles.
- 23:04Speaker 1: It's gonna look weird to people in the regular uh
- 23:07Speaker 1: section of the cemetery to see you popping bottles next
- 23:10Speaker 1: to grandma. But until until you've experienced it, I guess
- 23:14Speaker 1: you just don't know.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Yeah, that's you know, that's when you're like, this is
- 23:17Speaker 4: how she would have wanted.
- 23:20Speaker 2: I mean, I think it's got to have, you know,
- 23:22Speaker 2: graves or like that one we saw where the guys
- 23:27Speaker 2: in the casket, you know, like it's a taxi and
- 23:28Speaker 2: it's spinning around. I mean, there's gotta be some uh
- 23:31Speaker 2: you know, some motions, some theatrics going on here, you know,
- 23:35Speaker 2: to give it that true VIP experience.
- 23:37Speaker 1: That makes sense. Like fog machines, Yeah, light bark barklers.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I don't know if I go with the black lights
- 23:45Speaker 1: as much.
- 23:48Speaker 4: I would hate for shell people.
- 23:51Speaker 8: Yeah, to tell people, what do you do in the graveyard?
- 23:55Speaker 4: DJ, That's what I That's what I do for a living.
- 24:03Speaker 1: They always they always to stand Yeah, to stand out,
- 24:06Speaker 1: You've got to carve out your own your own niche there.
- 24:11Speaker 4: What's the playlist I got we need to figure that out.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Hey, maybe that news guy in Florida is also the
- 24:23Speaker 1: graveside DJ. Ladies and gentlemen, got breaking out, My broke off.
- 24:34Speaker 4: It's time.
- 24:35Speaker 1: It's time to say good bye to Grandma.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Got shot specials mm hmmm.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Five dollars fireball, not just for you, but just in
- 24:46Speaker 1: case she comes back to life.
- 24:51Speaker 4: Five dollars fireball, because that's where she's going.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Yeah, Granny was kind of a bitch, but it really is.
- 25:06Speaker 1: No one said this is this is? This is From England,
- 25:10Speaker 1: a cemetery has started charging five pounds per visit to
- 25:14Speaker 1: their loved ones graves. Grieving relatives can still access the
- 25:18Speaker 1: Garden of Remembrance for free between nine am and three
- 25:23Speaker 1: pm Monday to Friday, but after nineteen years in operation,
- 25:26Speaker 1: the graveyard will soon require the purchase of a one
- 25:29Speaker 1: off VIP pass for visits outside normal operating hours. This
- 25:37Speaker 1: costs five pounds to visit a grave or cremation plot,
- 25:41Speaker 1: and ten pounds per person to visit the rose garden.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Oh all right, Electric gates will prevent anyone without a
- 25:50Speaker 1: VIP pass from accessing the grounds. Isn't that as wasn't
- 25:53Speaker 1: that a section of Thriller with Michael Jackson.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I mean, so if you get them cremated and keep
- 26:03Speaker 2: them at home, you're just having a house.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Party, whereas Kidd and Play would call it up the
- 26:12Speaker 1: Jama Jammie jam.

- 27:04Speaker 1: in the Treehouse at Treehouse on air dot com. You
- 27:08Speaker 1: are in the Treehouse. I'm Dan along with Trey and Raj.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Are you in the mood for some ode to filthy
- 27:15Speaker 1: clogged toilette? I know it sounds like an odd question,
- 27:18Speaker 1: but uh, you have Miller High Life to think, because
- 27:25Speaker 1: Miller Highlife is set to release barfume that smells exactly
- 27:29Speaker 1: like a dive bar. You're excited. Yeah. The scent of
- 27:35Speaker 1: the so called dive barfume blends cedarwood and pechuli to
- 27:40Speaker 1: recreate the smell of a bar counter, tobacco and leather
- 27:44Speaker 1: to evoke those worn in leather barstools, sea salt for
- 27:47Speaker 1: the basket of fries, and popcorn, and champac blossom to
- 27:51Speaker 1: replicate the smell of Miller High Life.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Yes, that's shit, bes you want to replica at the
- 28:00Speaker 2: smell of a dive bar, stale beer, fabuloso and vomit.
- 28:06Speaker 9: And some cigarette yeah, cigarette smoke.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Yeah, some stale cigarettes. Yeah, yep, that's it. That that's
- 28:11Speaker 1: the concoction right there. It just doesn't sound as good
- 28:14Speaker 1: as cedar wood and you know and other things. But yeah,
- 28:21Speaker 1: this is this is one of those things where it's
- 28:23Speaker 1: it's free marketing for Miller High Life, and if we're
- 28:27Speaker 1: being honest, if they have an actual product of it available,
- 28:30Speaker 1: it makes for a great holiday gag gift. The only
- 28:33Speaker 1: down say is, I don't think they're going to be
- 28:35Speaker 1: available for your white elephant parties. I don't think they're
- 28:39Speaker 1: going to be actually available till next year.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Okay.
- 28:45Speaker 2: They say gen Z is really big into their their
- 28:48Speaker 2: colognes and perfumes, so maybe that's it's their way of
- 28:52Speaker 2: bringing the.
- 28:53Speaker 9: High Life back.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Especially gen Z doesn't know what the high life is
- 28:58Speaker 1: exactly they think they know.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Maybe they're trying to get high Life. Is, you know,
- 29:05Speaker 2: to be with to gen z what you PBR became
- 29:09Speaker 2: to hipsters?
- 29:09Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's very possible.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Is the champagne of beers?
- 29:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Miller Highlight the champagne of beers, whereas like PBR
- 29:19Speaker 1: was sort of like the go to hipster beer or
- 29:23Speaker 1: the millennial's choice to be sort of like the down
- 29:27Speaker 1: home beer choice. But at the end of the day,
- 29:30Speaker 1: it's like at a dive bar, the standard dream quarter
- 29:33Speaker 1: is beer in a shot. So I mean it's whatever
- 29:38Speaker 1: cheap beer and well whiskey you got, but it's apparently
- 29:44Speaker 1: just sixty dollars a bottle, and I take it back.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Apparently it is going to be in time for the holidays.
- 29:52Speaker 1: They say. This bar fume cologne from Miller High Life
- 29:56Speaker 1: is currently sold out, but it's also I just I
- 30:03Speaker 1: just trying to find it. Give me a second. High
- 30:07Speaker 1: Life is bringing that dive bar scent, you know, and
- 30:09Speaker 1: love to your home with High Life Dive bar fume
- 30:12Speaker 1: just in time for the holidays. Happy high Life. That's
- 30:14Speaker 1: according to the Fragrances. Fragrances listing. The Champagne of Beers
- 30:17Speaker 1: has other beer themed holiday offerings in it shop, including
- 30:21Speaker 1: Miller High Life stockings and Christmas tree ornaments. Instagram users
- 30:26Speaker 1: had a field day in the comments of the post
- 30:27Speaker 1: announcing the cologne, with one commenter saying, this was my
- 30:31Speaker 1: scent for seven years. Trey's got you beat.
- 30:33Speaker 2: That was his for like twenty I did not drink
- 30:36Speaker 2: High Life.
- 30:41Speaker 1: That's drug he really was.
- 30:44Speaker 9: I had standards.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not like it's not because your your haunt
- 30:51Speaker 1: was not technically a dive bar. It was the Loon
- 30:54Speaker 1: Mayshi Rest in Peace and Uptown Dallas for for many
- 30:57Speaker 1: many years, and to me, the Loan was not a
- 31:01Speaker 1: dive bar. It was a sort of under the radar
- 31:07Speaker 1: establishment because I mean the Loon didn't even have a sign.
- 31:12Speaker 1: You just had to know where it was, and you
- 31:13Speaker 1: had to know what it was. If you walked into
- 31:16Speaker 1: that place accidentally, everyone can smell it on you, ironically.
- 31:21Speaker 1: But I actually looked up because I was curious, and
- 31:23Speaker 1: it's like, okay, well, what actually constitutes a dive bar?
- 31:26Speaker 1: So I asked Google, and according to the AI overview,
- 31:31Speaker 1: a dive bar is a casual, inexpensive drinking establishment that's
- 31:35Speaker 1: often old fashioned, dimly lit, and has a local clientele.
- 31:41Speaker 1: They also say here for the ambiance, I'm sorry for
- 31:44Speaker 1: the atmosphere. Dive bars are typically small, eclectic, and have
- 31:47Speaker 1: shabby or data decor. They may also have me on
- 31:49Speaker 1: beer sides. Drinks. Dive bars typically serve a cheap, simple
- 31:52Speaker 1: selection of drinks such as well drinks and beer. The
- 31:55Speaker 1: client tell dive bars are off in neighborhood institutions where
- 31:58Speaker 1: local residents gathered to drink and socialized payment. Dive bars
- 32:02Speaker 1: are often cash only. Other features. Dive bars may also
- 32:06Speaker 1: sell packaged beer and have an ATM in the back,
- 32:08Speaker 1: something that Texans you don't really understand. What Having a
- 32:14Speaker 1: liquor store attached to a bar is not a thing
- 32:16Speaker 1: in Texas. I've seen it in other places Florida, but yeah,
- 32:22Speaker 1: that's not a standard thing in Texas. But I love
- 32:24Speaker 1: a good dive bar, but I don't want to smell
- 32:27Speaker 1: like one because to me, another great indicator of a
- 32:31Speaker 1: dive bar is no bathroom doors on the stalls. Of course,
- 32:35Speaker 1: that could also be a gay bar. So it's just
- 32:37Speaker 1: kind of you to each his own.
- 32:43Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, and you have.
- 32:46Speaker 8: To have the old bartenders, you know, past their prime
- 32:50Speaker 8: in the dive bar.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Yeah, at a dive bar, the bartenders are not there
- 32:54Speaker 1: for their looks.
- 32:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:57Speaker 1: In fact, their looks are typically more scowl.
- 33:03Speaker 4: They don't want to eire either.
- 33:07Speaker 1: No, most of the time they don't.
- 33:09Speaker 4: What's next though?
- 33:10Speaker 2: Man is a glitter company gonna you know owe the
- 33:13Speaker 2: strip club?
- 33:16Speaker 1: Oh no, yeah, day ship, but they still use glitter.
- 33:27Speaker 1: You've got You've got Lebrona James on the main stage
- 33:31Speaker 1: glitter as she comes out that way. When you go
- 33:35Speaker 1: back to the office, everybody knows where you were.
- 33:40Speaker 4: Who are you wearing? Day shift for men?

- 34:30Speaker 1: danil Malley along with Trade Trenholm and Raj Sharma. In
- 34:36Speaker 1: my Google searching about dive bars, there was another interesting
- 34:40Speaker 1: result I wanted to share with you guys. And that
- 34:43Speaker 1: was an article titled dirty, Dank and occasionally Dangerous that's
- 34:49Speaker 1: supposedly describing dive bars. It also sounds a little bit
- 34:53Speaker 1: like a diddy party.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I'd just like to back up for one second.
- 35:02Speaker 1: That too happens that you're you're.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Googling of dive bars, right, did you do any actual research?
- 35:13Speaker 4: Why?
- 35:14Speaker 1: Why are you doing so many bunnier fingers? And you
- 35:17Speaker 1: quotes research? That's how research gets done. What do you
- 35:21Speaker 1: want me to do?
- 35:22Speaker 2: Go to a library, No, go to a dive bar,
- 35:27Speaker 2: because that's enough time in one.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Really, really, I live at dive bars.
- 35:34Speaker 11: I know.
- 35:34Speaker 9: That's what I'm saying is you're having to google dive bar.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I feel like I do that. No, no, no, see I
- 35:41Speaker 1: I google it because I'm curious to see what the
- 35:43Speaker 1: internet is going to say versus my own experiences. Because
- 35:46Speaker 1: I know dive bars, I need to give you. I
- 35:48Speaker 1: could give you a good list of them. Some of
- 35:50Speaker 1: my favorite bars are dive bars. By the way, do
- 35:53Speaker 1: you know how dive bar got its original name? Because
- 35:56Speaker 1: typically they were the basement bars off the side of
- 35:58Speaker 1: the streets. Therefore, people would dive in to them.
- 36:02Speaker 4: I got it.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Yeah, you that's also why the doors need to be padded.
- 36:10Speaker 1: So if you ever go into a bar and wonder
- 36:12Speaker 1: why it's got padding on the outside, it's because there's
- 36:14Speaker 1: a dive bar. That's so stupid. I just made that up.
- 36:20Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, I.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Know it makes a lot of sense when you think
- 36:26Speaker 1: about it, but no, I just I'm just I'm just
- 36:28Speaker 1: bulling all over the place here.
- 36:30Speaker 8: Yeah, but you sold it. There was so much conviction
- 36:33Speaker 8: behind when you said it.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Look, it goes to show you can convince people of
- 36:36Speaker 1: damn near anything if you just say it properly.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, that's why they're called that.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Good to know now, the diving part, that part's real.
- 36:46Speaker 1: The padded part is.
- 36:47Speaker 4: What I made up. Oh gotcha, Okay, sorry.
- 36:50Speaker 1: But at the same time, uh, it was also like
- 36:53Speaker 1: a term I think that came around around prohibition era
- 36:56Speaker 1: as well, so kind of diving at the same time.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Not everyone there, there's nothing conclusive about it in my
- 37:02Speaker 1: online research. If I mean to use the bunny finger
- 37:05Speaker 1: air quote tray air.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Quotes, I'm just pointing out you spent plenty of time
- 37:11Speaker 2: in a dive bar. You really didn't need to google
- 37:12Speaker 2: a damn thing.
- 37:13Speaker 1: You're right, I'm just s curious to the Internet says,
- 37:15Speaker 1: that's all.
- 37:17Speaker 4: I just want to make sure it agreed with you.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty much. I needed to make sure there wasn't
- 37:21Speaker 1: a comment section that needed to be set straight. All right.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Today is Tuesday, December tenth, twenty twenty four. Let's celebrate
- 37:34Speaker 1: with some birthdays. Raven Simone is thirty nine today. Got
- 37:39Speaker 1: her start on The Cosby Show. Remember her. It's interesting.
- 37:45Speaker 1: It's weird because I identified with her so much watching
- 37:48Speaker 1: The Cosby Show, not because I was a little black girl,
- 37:53Speaker 1: but because she and I are basically at the time,
- 37:56Speaker 1: we were like close in age. Although now that I'm
- 37:59Speaker 1: seeing this, this says it she's only thirty nine and
- 38:01Speaker 1: so that makes me a few years older than her.
- 38:04Speaker 1: But still, I just I was like, hell, someone kind
- 38:07Speaker 1: of my age on that show. That's also one of
- 38:10Speaker 1: the things that they used to gauge now if a
- 38:12Speaker 1: show is on its last leg is when they start
- 38:14Speaker 1: introducing new child characters. Trey, why are you looking at
- 38:19Speaker 1: me like that? You're looking at like all skeptical, I mean,
- 38:23Speaker 1: like you can't wait to cross examine me in front
- 38:25Speaker 1: of a House Judiciary committee.
- 38:27Speaker 9: It's just interesting you identified with Raven. Was she adopted?
- 38:34Speaker 1: Maybe?
- 38:39Speaker 9: I mean why not? Why not Kisha Knight poems? She
- 38:41Speaker 9: would have been closer to your age.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Oh you know what I got it confused. Keisha was
- 38:46Speaker 1: the one that I identified with, Yeah, Raven Simone. Yeah,
- 38:50Speaker 1: I didn't like her because she was the kind of
- 38:52Speaker 1: the towerp. You're right, Keisha and I pulled him. She
- 38:55Speaker 1: and I are like, yeah, she's the one.
- 38:59Speaker 8: I think Raven's someone's doing stand up now if I'm correct,
- 39:02Speaker 8: If she's doing some stand up comedy out there.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Well, it's better than the guy who played her dad
- 39:07Speaker 1: on The Cosby Show. I think he's still a Trader Joe's.
- 39:11Speaker 4: No, he got a gig. Tyler Perry signed him.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Good for him, And let me just say not that
- 39:16Speaker 1: there's anything wrong with that. Trader Joe's is great.
- 39:19Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, where else can you have a face
- 39:21Speaker 8: tattoo and be the general manager?
- 39:24Speaker 1: Uh? Maybe as Bill Cosby selly. So everyone that came
- 39:31Speaker 1: out of the woodwork is like, oh my god, that
- 39:33Speaker 1: guy's working at Trader Joe's. Well would you wouldn't you
- 39:35Speaker 1: prefer that versus how Bill Cosby ended up?
- 39:39Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 39:40Speaker 8: But I wouldn't want to be Cosby's cell man. If
- 39:42Speaker 8: you just walk in the first day and he's left, well,
- 39:43Speaker 8: we'll see you put in pop.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I'd actually be kind of excited because that means I
- 39:52Speaker 1: get to be the guy that chokes Cosby Damn Predator.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Other birthdays today. Thank you Raven smoone for turning thirty
- 40:04Speaker 1: nine and reminded me that I'm more closely aligned with
- 40:06Speaker 1: Keisha Knight Beliea. Other birthdays today. Emmanuel Sheriki is forty nine.
- 40:15Speaker 1: She played Sloan on Entourage. She was also on The
- 40:18Speaker 1: Mentalist and Lana Lange on Superman, and lois big fan
- 40:23Speaker 1: of the Emanual Sheriki. Meg White from The White Stripes
- 40:29Speaker 1: is fifty. Bobby Flay, the Iron Chef is sixty one.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Kenneth Brannach Shakespearean actor and of course director and all
- 40:38Speaker 1: that good stuff. He is sixty four today. Pretty solid resume,
- 40:42Speaker 1: everything from Shakespeare to directing the first thor movie.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Oh I did not know that.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Yeah, And if I remember correctly, unless I missed a
- 40:52Speaker 1: news story, I believe he and Emma Thompson are married.
- 40:55Speaker 1: I don't think they've ever I think they're still together,
- 40:57Speaker 1: So good on them making a Hollywood work. Susan Day,
- 41:02Speaker 1: who played Lori Partridge on the Partridge Family and Grace
- 41:05Speaker 1: van Owen on La Law is seventy two today, and
- 41:09Speaker 1: Johnny Rodriguez country singer he turns seventy three. He was
- 41:13Speaker 1: actually acquitted of murder for the nineteen ninety eight shooting
- 41:16Speaker 1: death of his friend, who he thought was a burglar. Whoops.
- 41:23Speaker 4: This is why I don't own guns. You'll never have
- 41:26Speaker 4: to worry about that happening.
- 41:28Speaker 1: I agree. I think it's good that you don't own guns, Raj.
- 41:32Speaker 1: But me and me and Trey, though, could walk into
- 41:34Speaker 1: the same room armed and we're not going to shoot
- 41:36Speaker 1: each other.
- 41:39Speaker 8: Yeah, But if he thinks you're an intruder and you're
- 41:42Speaker 8: just stumbling in from a dive bar, and then Trey's like, oh,
- 41:48Speaker 8: I'm getting broken into and you're like a lost my key.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Trey knows it's me. He knows how he knows how
- 41:53Speaker 1: I look and smell and act when I'm drunk. Although
- 41:58Speaker 1: if it's either if if he gives me an option
- 42:01Speaker 1: at him shooting me or taking me to an AA meeting,
- 42:03Speaker 1: I'll probably ask for the bullet.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Let's Dan'll be wearing his dive bar scent, so I'll
- 42:11Speaker 2: smell him from a mile away.
- 42:14Speaker 1: I'm sick.
- 42:23Speaker 13: Air dot com.
- 42:36Speaker 6: You're listening to the Treehouse.
- 42:39Speaker 7: Visit us online at Treehouse on air dot com.
- 42:44Speaker 1: I don't want there to be any misinformation out there
- 42:48Speaker 1: and then you attribute it later to those idiots in
- 42:50Speaker 1: the treehouse. I want to make sure you can properly
- 42:53Speaker 1: define dive bar. So I re googled it, or as
- 42:58Speaker 1: some people would say, I researched it, and according to
- 43:01Speaker 1: the AI overview from Google, a dive bar okay. The
- 43:07Speaker 1: term dive was first used in the United States in
- 43:10Speaker 1: the eighteen eighties to describe disreputable places that were often
- 43:15Speaker 1: in basements. The precise definition of a dive bar is
- 43:18Speaker 1: rarely agreed upon and is the subject of spirited debates.
- 43:23Speaker 1: I see what he did there. Some say that a
- 43:25Speaker 1: dive bar is mostly about feel, while others say it's
- 43:29Speaker 1: a place where you see the same folks day after day.
- 43:36Speaker 1: I would like to point out that if you're going
- 43:38Speaker 1: around feeling a dive bar, you don't belong there. Yeah,
- 43:44Speaker 1: because most of the dive bars I've been to you
- 43:45Speaker 1: don't want to touch those walls.
- 43:51Speaker 4: Doesn't say anything about sticky floors, or.
- 43:55Speaker 1: It doesn't say anything in there about sticky floors. But
- 43:57Speaker 1: I can give you like a quick I guess. I
- 44:00Speaker 1: guess we can all because we've all spent way too
- 44:03Speaker 1: much time in bars, and we spent a lot of
- 44:05Speaker 1: time in dive bars as well. When we've run the Gambu,
- 44:07Speaker 1: we've gone high end, low end, we've even hung out
- 44:10Speaker 1: in the middle some but a good dive bar. I
- 44:13Speaker 1: think we all know that there are certain tenets, one
- 44:15Speaker 1: of which is a strong, poor, full of locals, neighborhood establishment.
- 44:21Speaker 1: To me, those are some easy dive bar type things.
- 44:24Speaker 1: And one of the things we read earlier was maybe
- 44:27Speaker 1: sort of an eclectic or old decor.
- 44:32Speaker 9: That's to me two things that you have to have.
- 44:37Speaker 9: Dark and a little bit dated and a little dated.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Yes, dark and dated, which is also Raja's hinge profile.
- 44:50Speaker 4: You beat me to it. I was gonna say that
- 44:55Speaker 4: was my nickname in college.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Also true. All all those things work. It's almost like
- 45:03Speaker 1: it's almost like an ad libs for punchline. Just insert
- 45:06Speaker 1: your own right there. Uh yeah, there's the The sticky
- 45:10Speaker 1: floor thing is part of it because a lot of
- 45:11Speaker 1: times dive bars aren't necessarily the cleanest of bars, because
- 45:15Speaker 1: they're they're big fans of if they if they if
- 45:20Speaker 1: they wipe it down with a bar rag, then it's clean.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Even if that bar rag, even if that bar rag
- 45:26Speaker 1: could itself order a drink legally.
- 45:32Speaker 4: Uh, there's a popcorn machine.
- 45:33Speaker 8: I can always tell if you walk in and there's
- 45:35Speaker 8: a popcorn machine in there, I'm like, they're they're not,
- 45:38Speaker 8: They're not really worried about you eating mm hmm.
- 45:40Speaker 1: I also like and and this is one of those
- 45:43Speaker 1: things that's not common in Texas, but I've seen it
- 45:45Speaker 1: in my travels around the world. And by the world,
- 45:48Speaker 1: I mean Michigan, uh, which is uh and and actually
- 45:53Speaker 1: a portion of Washington State I've seen this as well,
- 45:57Speaker 1: where they have uh the grill for the food is
- 46:02Speaker 1: basically next to the bar.
- 46:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Oh, you may actually have the bartender frying some fries
- 46:09Speaker 1: next to making your drink.
- 46:12Speaker 4: Yeah, solid totinos.
- 46:15Speaker 8: If there's a if there's a if there's a pizza
- 46:17Speaker 8: little toaster oven there.
- 46:20Speaker 1: I think I think I think that's going more uh
- 46:22Speaker 1: more upscale, because I mean, if if you if you
- 46:25Speaker 1: have a bar that's got a pizza oven, I mean,
- 46:27Speaker 1: come on, I.
- 46:29Speaker 4: Said, dollars.
- 46:34Speaker 1: That did that place sounds awesome. That might that might
- 46:41Speaker 1: be considered a dive bar. But I mean, I'll tell
- 46:44Speaker 1: you right now some of my favorite dive bars. If
- 46:45Speaker 1: they had a Totino's coming out of a toaster oven,
- 46:49Speaker 1: oh yeah, I'd probably live there. Although it does make
- 46:55Speaker 1: you wonder, how is it that the Lakewood Landing in Dallas,
- 46:59Speaker 1: how do they not have a Totino's coming out of
- 47:02Speaker 1: a toaster revenant? That's really about the only thing they're missing.
- 47:10Speaker 9: They're busy with those little corn dogs.
- 47:12Speaker 1: I guess damn those are.
- 47:14Speaker 4: Good corn dog bites. Mmmmmmm solid.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Also some damn good wings.
- 47:23Speaker 4: Oh okay, so that's not diving.
- 47:25Speaker 9: Then the food is obvious.
- 47:28Speaker 4: You get.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Like, not only are there photos up of the regulars,
- 47:34Speaker 1: but the regulars and the photos of them are now
- 47:36Speaker 1: turning into a memorial wall. That's another big indicator of
- 47:46Speaker 1: a dive bar, like when the barstools say, here, Sat Jeff,
- 47:57Speaker 1: We're damn this corner of the bar. Dedicated to raj
