Transcript
- 0:13You, you know that feeling when you spend three hours dialing in a CSS sticky
- 0:17header, and then you log in, and the, the native admin bar just completely nukes
- 0:21your layout?
- 0:22Oh, it pushes everything down thirty two pixels.
- 0:24Or, or worse, it sits right on top of your fixed navigation.
- 0:28It drives me crazy.
- 0:29Right, right, for over fifteen years, developers have been writing custom CSS hacks,
- 0:35or, or installing extra plugins just to hide the admin bar on the front end.
- 0:39It inflates DOM node counts, it breaks specificity, it is just front end
- 0:44contamination.
- 0:45Wait, wait, so is there finally an official fix for this, or are we still just
- 0:50sticking Band-Aids on it?
- 0:51There is actually a fundamental shift happening on GitHub right now.
- 0:55To prevent the Admin Bar from affecting front end viewing, the official WordPress
- 0:59Browser Extension project is being built for Chrome and Safari.
- 1:03Wait, an actual browser extension?
- 1:05Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:06The extension automatically detects when you are visiting a WordPress site you own,
- 1:11and it moves all those controls into your browser toolbar.
- 1:14You get quick access to edit posts, jump to wp admin, log out with one click,
- 1:20or manage users, all completely outside the page rendering context.
- 1:24That is, okay, that is clever.
- 1:26So from a clean code standpoint, you get absolute zero DOM pollution on the actual
- 1:30website?
- 1:30Zero.
- 1:31No injected CSS styles, no extra script tags loaded for logged in users,
- 1:36no layout shifts.
- 1:38It offloads site management entirely to the client browser.
- 1:42So do you think agencies are going to make this mandatory workflow?
- 1:46Like, disable the front end admin bar completely across all client builds once this
- 1:51extension lands in stable release?
- 1:53I think any developer who cares about performance and clean rendering will turn off
- 1:57the native admin bar on day one.
- 2:00Why inject admin UI code into a public web page when your browser can just handle it
- 2:05natively?
- 2:06It makes so much sense.
- 2:07It feels like we are finally stop, stopping the practice of mixing administration
- 2:11logic into user facing markup.
- 2:13And speaking of stripping away admin bloat, things are getting even wilder on the
- 2:17backend side with local development tools.
- 2:20Oh, you are talking about the whole terminal agent movement,
- 2:22right?
- 2:23Yeah, yeah, Novamira CLI just launched.
- 2:26It lets you connect terminal coding agents like Claude Code,
- 2:29Codex CLI, or Gemini CLI straight to a site running Novamira.
- 2:34You can run PHP code, execute database queries, and do file operations straight from
- 2:39your local command line shell.
- 2:41That is insane.
- 2:42And Benjamin Intal showed off that Ahentic AI workspace experiment too,
- 2:46where the AI understands the entire site, installs plugins,
- 2:50builds layouts, all using core WordPress APIs with zero external servers or MCP
- 2:55middleware.
- 2:56Now, okay, hold on a second though.
- 2:59As a builder, granting a terminal agent automated shell execution and direct
- 3:03database write access on a live environment?
- 3:06That, that gives me serious security anxiety.
- 3:09I mean, sure, on production you want gates.
- 3:11But think about rapid staging!
- 3:12You tell your terminal, hey, spin up a site, install these four plugins,
- 3:16configure these field groups, and fix this PHP error in functions dot php.
- 3:22It happens in three seconds!
- 3:23I, I see the utility for local builds, definitely.
- 3:27But the boundary between helpful automation and rogue database modifications is
- 3:31paper thin when an agent has full PHP execution rights.
- 3:35Fair, but look at where both these trends are pointing.
- 3:39Browser extensions pulling management out of the front end,
- 3:42terminal agents handling configuration on the back end.
- 3:45The traditional wp admin dashboard is shrinking.
- 3:48It really is.
- 3:49The dashboard is transforming from a place where humans click around endlessly into
- 3:54a background API that external tools and agents talk to directly.
- 3:58It is a whole new paradigm for site building, and honestly,
- 4:00I am completely here for it.
