- 0:00Speaker 1: If chaos was a radio show, you're listening to it.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 0:06Speaker 4: What?
- 0:07Speaker 3: No, no, no, no.
- 0:09Speaker 1: No, no, no, no.
- 0:11Speaker 5: Don't do that. We were having a nice day.
- 0:17Speaker 1: It's John Jay and Rich.
- 0:18Speaker 5: Oh, a lot of comments on War of the Roses.
- 0:20Speaker 5: Good morning, Candace.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 0:23Speaker 5: Your thoughts on War of the Roses.
- 0:26Speaker 6: Yeah, so I was listening, and that gentleman that took
- 0:30Speaker 6: their joint money to go to the strip club, here's
- 0:33Speaker 6: what I know. Me and my wife have an understanding.
- 0:36Speaker 4: I do not look at other naked girls, and we
- 0:37Speaker 4: stay married.
- 0:39Speaker 2: And then everybody was just laughing, but you could tell
- 0:41Speaker 2: that girl, her feelings were hurt.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah, she wasn't the weak in it, though. She was
- 0:47Speaker 1: jumping his case, so.
- 0:51Speaker 1: She was not the weak one.
- 0:52Speaker 4: In that situation.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I don't think he was supposed to be taking their
- 0:56Speaker 2: money and giving it to naked women by any means.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, he knew that.
- 0:59Speaker 7: That's why I said that's obviously that's why you were
- 1:02Speaker 7: lying about it and not telling her because you knew
- 1:04Speaker 7: you weren't supposed to be doing that.
- 1:05Speaker 1: He even said that.
- 1:06Speaker 3: That's why I didn't bring it up because I knew
- 1:07Speaker 3: you would act like this.
- 1:08Speaker 5: Also, we don't know if he gave the money to
- 1:11Speaker 5: the strippers personally.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Saying you know that he could have been absolutely we don't.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Know that he did that he might have bought extra
- 1:17Speaker 2: wings that's probably that's probably good if you're married you
- 1:21Speaker 2: shouldn't go looking at other naked people period like you
- 1:24Speaker 2: know and then paying unless.
- 1:25Speaker 7: You're into it i think you have to know the
- 1:27Speaker 7: nature of your own relationship like peyton for instance.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yeah and he knew better or he wouldn't have been
- 1:32Speaker 2: hiding right exactly like i know for a fact if
- 1:36Speaker 2: i go and pull money and go to a strip
- 1:37Speaker 2: club i'm going home to an empty house Right.
- 1:40Speaker 5: Because there's someone else.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Well, he knew that too.
- 1:42Speaker 5: That's why he lied about it. All right, Candace.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:45Speaker 6: Appreciate you.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Thank you. You said Peyton's your.
- 1:48Speaker 7: Well, during the segment, Peyton was even like, it could
- 1:51Speaker 7: be kind of fun.
- 1:51Speaker 5: You should go with him.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Like that sort of thing.
- 1:53Speaker 7: But like in our relationship, I would maybe lean more
- 1:57Speaker 7: towards Julia and be like, you're in big trouble, mister.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Especially if you're lying about it. Rich, thanks for holding.
- 2:02Speaker 5: What's up? You're on the air.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Yeah, John Jay, you used to have a PI license.
- 2:07Speaker 4: You guys failed to get the name of this bar.
- 2:10Speaker 4: I mean, Carl Beers and Cheeseburgers has 15 TV sets,
- 2:16Speaker 4: but they don't have ladies taking their clothes off. And
- 2:19Speaker 4: this guy's going off on the wings. I mean, some
- 2:22Speaker 4: strip clubs have surf and turf, but I can't imagine
- 2:25Speaker 4: it's prepared by a culinary expert. I mean, he was shady.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Taking a shower.
- 2:32Speaker 5: I know.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Come on.
- 2:33Speaker 5: There's lots of red flags there. Judas, good morning. You're
- 2:36Speaker 5: on the air. War of the Roses.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Hi.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Hi.
- 2:38Speaker 8: I was listening to War of the Roses, and I
- 2:40Speaker 8: immediately knew it was a stripper.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I immediately knew.
- 2:44Speaker 4: So I texted in and said, it's a stripper.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yep, it's a stripper.
- 2:49Speaker 5: You were right. Way to go, Judas.
- 2:52Speaker 6: I know.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I know.
- 2:53Speaker 6: I know.
- 2:53Speaker 8: I've been through it all.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Believe me.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Oh.
- 2:55Speaker 5: All right.
- 2:57Speaker 3: For Judas.
- 2:58Speaker 6: All right.
- 2:59Speaker 5: Have a great day. Thanks for listening.
- 3:01Speaker 2: You too.
- 3:02Speaker 5: So we got Halloween coming up, but a week from
- 3:07Speaker 5: this Saturday, right? Is that right?
- 3:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 3:10Speaker 5: Saturday's Love Pup Family Fest. Gavin McGraw. I don't want to.
- 3:15Speaker 7: Be anything other than what I've been trying.
- 3:20Speaker 9: It's November 7th, 4 p.m. Vertuccio Farms. It's a free
- 3:24Speaker 9: show with Gavin DeGraw live in concert. Gino Plegger, the
- 3:27Speaker 9: runner-up for America's Got Talent, he's a magician. He's going
- 3:30Speaker 9: to be doing magic up on the stage, which is
- 3:31Speaker 9: going to be great.
- 3:32Speaker 5: We've got the Rich Barra band that's going to be there.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Also doing magic up on that stage.
- 3:36Speaker 9: Dog rescues. If you're looking to adopt a puppy, we're
- 3:39Speaker 9: going to have puppies and dogs. It's a beautiful event.
- 3:41Speaker 9: The weather's going to be fantastic.
- 3:43Speaker 5: It's free.
- 3:44Speaker 9: We ask that you bring a dog rescue donation, like leashes,
- 3:46Speaker 9: puppy pads, dog food. There's food trucks, vendors, KidZone, so
- 3:50Speaker 9: much more going on. And it is free at Vertuccio Farms,
- 3:53Speaker 9: 4 p.m. next Saturday, November 7th. I got some Halloween
- 3:59Speaker 9: stuff I want to get into. I think this is
- 4:02Speaker 9: really interesting. This came out in the news today. A
- 4:05Speaker 9: poll says that 70% of Americans believe Halloween is just
- 4:09Speaker 9: as much for adults as it is for kids.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Of course, right? Agreed.
- 4:13Speaker 9: People are taking that a step further. I think Halloween
- 4:15Speaker 9: should be a national holiday, like Memorial Day, Independence Day,
- 4:18Speaker 9: and Christmas Day.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 5: What do you guys think?
- 4:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Like Thanksgiving, they should just make it the last Saturday
- 4:24Speaker 1: of the month.
- 4:25Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what I've always just thought. Just make it
- 4:27Speaker 7: the last Saturday, and then that's the day.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Instead of the 31st.
- 4:30Speaker 7: And then people don't have to take a day off
- 4:32Speaker 7: work or whatever.
- 4:33Speaker 9: But like for Halloween, so instead of it being the
- 4:36Speaker 9: 31st for a thousand years, we're going to move it
- 4:38Speaker 9: to just that Saturday.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I think they do that in New England.
- 4:41Speaker 5: I think it'd be hard to pull off.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Why?
- 4:43Speaker 1: I mean, we do it with Thanksgiving.
- 4:44Speaker 9: Because then what happens is then you got people also
- 4:46Speaker 9: trick-or-treating on the 31st because they've been doing it for
- 4:48Speaker 9: so long and they didn't see the press release.
- 4:52Speaker 7: I feel like it would be welcome to pretty much
- 4:54Speaker 7: anyone with kids.
- 4:54Speaker 1: It's the age of the internet now.
- 4:56Speaker 9: But then you have people knocking on your door for
- 4:57Speaker 9: candy on the 31st and you got to open it
- 4:59Speaker 9: and go, no, no, it's on Saturday.
- 5:02Speaker 5: And they'd be like, oh, okay. You know what I mean?
- 5:04Speaker 1: You just turn your lights out.
- 5:05Speaker 10: It's embarrassing.
- 5:05Speaker 9: I'm telling you guys. Well, you turn your lights out.
- 5:07Speaker 9: But if you don't know, if you're the person at
- 5:09Speaker 9: home and you don't know they changed the date.
- 5:12Speaker 5: And then people knock on your door. And you normally
- 5:13Speaker 5: have your lights on. And you open the door. You're like, hey,
- 5:14Speaker 5: what's up?
- 5:14Speaker 1: Trick or treat.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 5:16Speaker 5: I don't have anything. What are you doing?
- 5:17Speaker 1: I think the word gets out pretty fast.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Come on.
- 5:19Speaker 1: But isn't there is?
- 5:20Speaker 6: I do.
- 5:20Speaker 9: You don't think.
- 5:22Speaker 5: People would love that. Because it sucks when Halloween's.
- 5:25Speaker 1: On a Wednesday.
- 5:26Speaker 5: I think you're missing what I'm saying. I agree with
- 5:28Speaker 5: you guys. I just think it's impossible.
- 5:30Speaker 1: For it to happen.
- 5:30Speaker 3: It would still happen. People would still go trick-or-treating on
- 5:32Speaker 3: October 31st because that's just what they do. But isn't
- 5:35Speaker 3: October 31st like an actual.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Like, it means something? Like, it's like an actual day.
- 5:42Speaker 1: It's All Saints Day is the following day.
- 5:44Speaker 6: Right.
- 5:44Speaker 1: So you can't just change it to.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Whatever last day of the Saturday is because it's not
- 5:48Speaker 3: that day.
- 5:49Speaker 7: Then why is Thanksgiving okay to move around?
- 5:52Speaker 9: Yeah, see?
- 5:53Speaker 1: I don't get it.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Because this happened 4,000 years ago when they invented Thanksgiving.
- 5:56Speaker 7: The Thanksgiving people were smart.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Once you go, hey. Every Thursday. Once somebody rings your doorbell.
- 6:02Speaker 6: The last one.
- 6:03Speaker 1: We do it on the last Saturday of the month now.
- 6:05Speaker 1: They go, okay. Do you think it's just going to
- 6:06Speaker 1: keep on happening for years because nobody's going to get
- 6:08Speaker 1: the information?
- 6:08Speaker 9: How many times have you had, you have a meeting
- 6:10Speaker 9: and then the people misunderstand the meeting.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Well.
- 6:12Speaker 5: It's something simple.
- 6:13Speaker 1: People are getting stupid. We're going to be here at five.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I'm convinced of that.
- 6:15Speaker 5: People get in there.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Hey, Mickey.
- 6:17Speaker 5: Good morning. You're on the air.
- 6:24Speaker 6: So I have a stupid Halloween story. A stupid Halloween story.
- 6:30Speaker 5: Okay.
- 6:30Speaker 6: Yes.
- 6:31Speaker 5: So I was 18.
- 6:32Speaker 6: I'm 50 now. I was 18 and I had been
- 6:37Speaker 6: a stripper and only been doing it for a couple
- 6:40Speaker 6: of months and they wanted us to dress up for Halloween.
- 6:44Speaker 6: And I've always been really outgoing. I did theater and
- 6:47Speaker 6: all that stuff when I was young and, And I
- 6:49Speaker 6: used to like to play to the crowds. Well, I
- 6:51Speaker 6: really wasn't thinking like, oh, I'm going to be a
- 6:54Speaker 6: sexy mouse or a sexy pumpkin or anything like that.
- 6:57Speaker 3: No, no.
- 6:58Speaker 6: I had my man do full prosthetic zombie makeup on me.
- 7:03Speaker 6: And I showed up for work in a man's suit
- 7:06Speaker 6: and I'm 5'11 flat footed. So those heels make me
- 7:09Speaker 6: like 6'4. So I walk into work with a man's
- 7:12Speaker 6: suit on and full prosthetic zombie makeup and hear all
- 7:16Speaker 6: these little bitty girls running around and in their little
- 7:20Speaker 6: sexy whatever we're going to be in my management.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 7:23Speaker 6: They looked at me when I walked in the door,
- 7:25Speaker 6: and they about died. And, yeah, people didn't know what
- 7:30Speaker 6: to do with a six-foot-four zombie in a strip club.
- 7:32Speaker 5: I bet you were very.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Popular that night.
- 7:36Speaker 6: Actually, I made it about halfway through the night, and
- 7:38Speaker 6: management was like, hey, Mick, yeah, we need you to
- 7:42Speaker 6: go home, and you're going to have to get out
- 7:44Speaker 6: all that and– You know, if you want to redo
- 7:47Speaker 6: whatever and come back to work, that's fine. But this
- 7:50Speaker 6: is not what we had in mind when we wanted
- 7:52Speaker 6: you to dress up for Halloween.
- 7:53Speaker 9: But if you're dressed as a male zombie at a
- 7:56Speaker 9: strip joint, doesn't that clothes come off anyway when you're
- 7:58Speaker 9: on stage?
- 8:00Speaker 6: The clothes do come off. But when I neck up,
- 8:03Speaker 6: I'm like full-blown zombie. And then everything comes off. And
- 8:08Speaker 6: it just didn't go over really well.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I bet you think of that today.
- 8:12Speaker 5: People would be into it.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 8:14Speaker 6: I think it would work today.
- 8:15Speaker 3: It reminds me of the Mean Girls. It reminds me
- 8:18Speaker 3: of the Mean Girls movie when Katie comes in as
- 8:20Speaker 3: the dead bride and she is so scary looking compared
- 8:23Speaker 3: to everyone else in the little scary Halloween costumes.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yes, I can see it. Misunderstood the assignment.
- 8:28Speaker 5: Mickey, what was your stripper name?
- 8:31Speaker 6: Actually, since my name, Mickey, is just so unusual anyway,
- 8:35Speaker 6: I never did change it.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Man, if you go to Disneyland, you wouldn't believe how
- 8:38Speaker 5: many Mickeys there are there.
- 8:41Speaker 6: I did not have to change it. I think my
- 8:43Speaker 6: mom was high when she was pregnant or when I
- 8:45Speaker 6: was born.
- 8:46Speaker 1: That's funny.
- 8:47Speaker 6: But anyway, yeah, that's my funny Halloween story. It is. Yeah,
- 8:51Speaker 6: I listened to you guys and I was just like,
- 8:53Speaker 6: it brought it back to mind. Yeah, stripper zombie.
- 8:57Speaker 2: All right.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Well, thank you for calling in, Mickey. Thanks for listening.
- 9:00Speaker 1: All right, love.
- 9:01Speaker 6: Y'all have a great day.
- 9:01Speaker 5: You too. We are going to play Minute to Win It.
- 9:03Speaker 5: We need a contestant at 877-937-1047. Pilar. Pilar, good morning.
- 9:06Speaker 5: You're on the air. Hi, good morning. Hi, what's up?
- 9:11Speaker 8: I had a great idea for Rich for a costume.
- 9:14Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, bring it on.
- 9:15Speaker 7: It needs to be a chip.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Fun.
- 9:19Speaker 3: And only one chip.
- 9:20Speaker 8: And somebody else can be Gladys Knight.
- 9:23Speaker 9: Are you saying that because of the clip that we
- 9:25Speaker 9: play over and over again from three years ago?
- 9:28Speaker 5: Yes.
- 9:28Speaker 8: Yes, his nightmare.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Just one chip.
- 9:32Speaker 5: Thanks, Pilar. Thanks for calling in.
- 9:33Speaker 9: Yeah, if you don't know what we're talking about, Rich
- 9:35Speaker 9: said this one time, and I don't know why it's
- 9:37Speaker 9: stuck with us, but it's because the story really goes nowhere.
- 9:39Speaker 9: But here's what she's talking about, if you've never heard
- 9:41Speaker 9: this before. You know, I met Gladys Knight when I
- 9:43Speaker 9: worked in Dallas. I worked for a station that did
- 9:46Speaker 9: these concerts, and she was doing like a little show
- 9:50Speaker 9: for the radio station. They were all hanging out in rehearsals,
- 9:53Speaker 9: and she walks up to me. She's like, I'm supposed
- 9:56Speaker 9: to go up and rehearse, but I ain't had one chip.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Get me a chip.
- 9:59Speaker 10: Get me a bag of chips. So I'm like, all right,
- 10:01Speaker 10: I'll go get you a bag of chips. So I
- 10:03Speaker 10: go get her a bag of chips. Nothing said. She
- 10:05Speaker 10: does the concert. She thanks me during the show for
- 10:07Speaker 10: a bag of chips. She's like, because of this man,
- 10:09Speaker 10: I got a bag of chips. That's why I'm singing tonight.
- 10:11Speaker 10: So she was very cool.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I like her a lot.
- 10:13Speaker 5: She's a cool lady.
- 10:13Speaker 9: And if that's the first time you've heard it, what's
- 10:15Speaker 9: gone viral about it is so many people... It's been animated.
- 10:20Speaker 9: And the way they imitate it is to every little, like, snort, breath, everything.
- 10:25Speaker 1: It's really, really impressive. And that's the last time I
- 10:28Speaker 1: came to work taking Dayquil. Oh, for sure. You know
- 10:33Speaker 1: how affected I am by things.
- 10:34Speaker 9: All right, so Pat Hickey's the owner, the general manager
- 10:37Speaker 9: of Peoria 4. He gave us $ 1, 000 to do a
- 10:39Speaker 9: fun little trivia game. And if you win... You get
- 10:43Speaker 9: to keep $ 1, 000. You got to answer 10 questions in
- 10:45Speaker 9: a row in under a minute. It's been done once,
- 10:48Speaker 9: and you win the $ 1, 000. Our contestant this morning is Kelsey.
- 10:51Speaker 5: Hello, Kelsey.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Hi.
- 10:55Speaker 5: What are you doing right now? Where are you?
- 10:57Speaker 8: Driving to work. I am on 7th Street.
- 11:00Speaker 5: 7th Street what?
- 11:03Speaker 8: It looks like that's Cave Creek.
- 11:04Speaker 5: Oh, wow. You're way up there.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Oh, Dunlap.
- 11:06Speaker 8: 7th Street and Dunlap. Yeah, but it's a long journey
- 11:08Speaker 8: for me.
- 11:09Speaker 5: You got a little fun fact about yourself you can
- 11:11Speaker 5: tell us?
- 11:15Speaker 8: I mean, I'm an eye doctor, so that's kind of fun.
- 11:19Speaker 5: Oh. Is that an optometrist or ophthalmologist?
- 11:25Speaker 8: Optometrist.
- 11:26Speaker 1: What's the difference?
- 11:28Speaker 8: So ophthalmologists do the surgery. They go through med school.
- 11:31Speaker 8: Optometrists go through optometry school, and we just do primary
- 11:35Speaker 8: eye care, and then we manage more mild diseases.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Okay.
- 11:39Speaker 1: That's kind of fun.
- 11:39Speaker 5: She's a doctor, so she's smart. She's going to be
- 11:41Speaker 5: a smart one, yeah. All right. I hope you have
- 11:43Speaker 5: a bunch of eye questions.
- 11:45Speaker 8: Hopefully we get nine questions.
- 11:46Speaker 5: Give her the radio version of that eye chart. Focus.
- 11:49Speaker 1: We need you to focus. Read the top line.
- 11:51Speaker 5: Here we go.
- 11:52Speaker 7: John Jay and Rich have $ 1, 000 cash for you from
- 11:55Speaker 7: Peoria Ford right now.
- 11:56Speaker 10: Minute to win it.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Okay, Kelsey, I can see you winning this thing. 60
- 12:00Speaker 1: seconds on the clock. Get all 10 right. No misses,
- 12:04Speaker 1: and you win $ 1, 000. What 1999 found footage horror movie
- 12:08Speaker 1: follows three filmmakers lost in the Maryland woods?
- 12:12Speaker 8: The Blair Witch Project.
- 12:13Speaker 1: What car company makes the Camry in Prius?
- 12:17Speaker 8: Toyota.
- 12:19Speaker 1: What spooky TV family lived at 1313 Mockingbird Lane?
- 12:24Speaker 8: The Addams Family?
- 12:25Speaker 4: Monsters!
- 12:28Speaker 5: No!
- 12:29Speaker 3: Who was it?
- 12:30Speaker 4: The Monsters.
- 12:31Speaker 7: Oh.
- 12:32Speaker 8: No, I would never have gotten that.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Me neither.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Well, if you got the Addams Family, Monsters, it's basically
- 12:37Speaker 1: the same show. I don't know which one came out first. Oh,
- 12:40Speaker 1: it's a bummer, Kelsey.
- 12:41Speaker 10: I'm sorry.
- 12:42Speaker 6: That's okay.
- 12:43Speaker 5: It's all right, Kelsey. Hey, you get a gift certificate
- 12:45Speaker 5: to Del Taco.
- 12:47Speaker 10: Woo-hoo.
- 12:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Thanks, Kelsey. Thanks for listening.
- 12:51Speaker 8: Thanks so much, guys.
- 12:52Speaker 5: Bye. She was a fun contestant. Hi, Stephanie. Stephanie got
- 12:57Speaker 5: a comment on War of the Roses.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Hi.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 6: I was just sent in a text message about hearing
- 13:05Speaker 6: that he said the strip club has the best wings.
- 13:07Speaker 6: And if he was talking about Jags, they really do
- 13:10Speaker 6: have the best wings.
- 13:12Speaker 1: How do you know?
- 13:15Speaker 6: I used to go there for amateur nights back in
- 13:18Speaker 6: the day.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Amateur night? Like anybody can get on stage and just
- 13:22Speaker 1: shake their thing?
- 13:23Speaker 4: Anybody.
- 13:24Speaker 6: Oh, wow.
- 13:26Speaker 1: That sounds like that might be.
- 13:27Speaker 7: Did you then eventually become a professional?
- 13:31Speaker 6: No, I would never go up there.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I feel like it would be such a fun girls' night. Like,
- 13:35Speaker 1: just go up there.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:37Speaker 8: It was like girls' night.
- 13:38Speaker 6: They could win money and bottle service.
- 13:41Speaker 5: And how naked do you get on amateur night?
- 13:44Speaker 6: I think they just, like, go topless, max.
- 13:47Speaker 9: Oh, we should go do that, you guys, the four
- 13:48Speaker 9: of us.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of like naked karaoke, kind of, you know?
- 13:52Speaker 1: It's like, just show what you got.
- 13:54Speaker 5: That'd be so much fun.
- 13:55Speaker 8: It's so funny because there's a variety of people up there.
- 13:59Speaker 5: That's wild. I wouldn't do that.
- 14:01Speaker 6: They actually want the best things, I swear, Jack.
- 14:04Speaker 5: That was probably where she was calling from. Thanks, Stephanie.
- 14:08Speaker 1: We got to voucher.
- 14:08Speaker 8: Love you guys, bye.
- 14:09Speaker 10: Bye.
- 14:11Speaker 9: So there's a new article which argues that parents should
- 14:15Speaker 9: eat their kids' Halloween candy with them.
- 14:17Speaker 5: With them. I don't know. What do you do, Kyle?
- 14:19Speaker 5: Would you eat the candy with the kids?
- 14:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 9: There's a psychiatrist from Psychology Today. Erin Parks says that
- 14:27Speaker 9: she has a couple things. She says these are five
- 14:29Speaker 9: rules when it comes to Halloween candy with kids. Don't
- 14:31Speaker 9: moralize food, even candy. The goodness and badness of any
- 14:35Speaker 9: food is subjective, she says. So it's not.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Junk food or sugar. Call it what it is. Halloween candy.
- 14:39Speaker 5: So that way you don't think, oh, this is bad.
- 14:41Speaker 5: This is good. Oh, you eat a Snickers, you know?
- 14:43Speaker 9: Don't punish yourself or others for eating candy. She says,
- 14:47Speaker 9: nothing is bad. Nothing bad will happen. Your kids will
- 14:49Speaker 9: not magically wake up with diabetes. You'll not wake up
- 14:51Speaker 9: weighing a whole bunch of weight. Just eat the candy
- 14:54Speaker 9: and have fun. Embrace food as cultural and fun, she says.
- 14:58Speaker 9: Talk about which candy you enjoyed as a child and
- 15:00Speaker 9: watch them sort out their candy and have fun with them.
- 15:04Speaker 9: Remove the sense of scarcity. Forget limits like, having one
- 15:08Speaker 9: piece per day or throwing out all the candy after
- 15:10Speaker 9: a week. She says that's bad and it messes with
- 15:13Speaker 9: their kids' brains as they get older for some reason.
- 15:15Speaker 9: Then she says, my kids can have as much Halloween
- 15:17Speaker 9: candy as they want whenever they want.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Eat candy. Yes, you, the parent, she says. You may
- 15:23Speaker 5: not have a good.
- 15:24Speaker 9: Relationship with food or with your body, but you can
- 15:26Speaker 9: fake it till you make it. I cannot overemphasize the
- 15:29Speaker 9: power of kids seeing their parents happily eat candy and
- 15:32Speaker 9: have a good time.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 15:34Speaker 7: I agree with some of that.
- 15:37Speaker 2: You do?
- 15:38Speaker 7: Yeah, but, like, as much candy as they want any time,
- 15:41Speaker 7: they want, like, it's like you also have to sort
- 15:43Speaker 7: of teach moderation.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Too, right?
- 15:45Speaker 5: What are you doing at 7 o'clock on a Thursday?
- 15:47Speaker 5: 7 p.m. on a Thursday, you don't eat candy.
- 15:49Speaker 1: We don't eat dinner.
- 15:49Speaker 9: Because then what happens in a situation like my son, Dutch,
- 15:52Speaker 9: he wakes up and has Sour Patch Kids for breakfast.
- 15:55Speaker 5: I'm like, no.
- 15:56Speaker 1: He, Dutch, he lives his best life all the time,
- 15:59Speaker 1: all the time.
- 16:00Speaker 5: That's true.
- 16:01Speaker 10: Yeah.
