- 1:31Just waiting for some people to sign in and join up on all the
- 1:35things we appreciate. You got some everyday errors and
- 1:39my real ones and everybody else. I try to put the word out, put
- 1:43out the bad signal that these shows take place every Thursday
- 1:46evening. And yeah, we try to make it a
- 1:50fun thing for. All today has been an.
- 1:52Extremely. Difficult and heavy day here at
- 1:57the Ghost Cult Remote HQ. We have a lot to talk about and
- 2:02a lot to cover in the show as we're here for the almost
- 2:05weekend. Again, I am thankful for
- 2:08anybody. You could, I'll probably say it
- 2:10again later. You could watch anybody's
- 2:14program, but you're if you're here, I appreciate you.
- 2:17Thank you so much for hanging out.
- 2:21So without further delay, let's just get right into the damn
- 2:24thing. And I have made a little deck
- 2:28for the show today. We'll try to make it a fun
- 2:32experience for everybody. Unfortunately for y'all on
- 2:35TikTok, the best experience for this show is always YouTube,
- 2:40Twitch, Facebook and Instagram. But I like hanging out on the
- 2:45tik of the talk with y'all and. Thank you.
- 2:48Megan is here. Thanks, Megan.
- 2:52Appreciate y'all, so thanks so much.
- 2:55Let's do the thing. As.
- 3:00Usual we start with the announcements and this is this
- 3:04is going to be a heavy, heavy one, unless you didn't know and
- 3:09I am breaking this news to you now.
- 3:10I'm deeply sorry We found out that Brent Hines of Mastodon
- 3:14died last night, you know. Formerly of Mastodon.
- 3:19He he and the band parted ways back in the spring and he was
- 3:25riding his motorcycle as he is want to do around Atlanta and a
- 3:29car did not yield for him and hit him.
- 3:33I saw the police. The preliminary police report
- 3:36did not fault the driver and he was pronounced dead at the
- 3:40scene, which is fucking terrible.
- 3:43I know that there was a lot of acrimony between Mastodon and
- 3:47Brent, specifically Brent, you know, but reality is he's gone.
- 3:52So there's no chance of a reunion now, which is really
- 3:56sad. And we all lose, you know what
- 3:58I'm saying? We all lose.
- 4:00Brent was a legend. And I know Mastodon had moved on
- 4:04without Brent, but still deeply sad.
- 4:08Hey, John is here. What's up?
- 4:09John, good to see you. I'll bust you into the comments
- 4:12here. John, thanks for all the support
- 4:14this week. John I just talked about the
- 4:17Mastodon story and and Brent Hines dying.
- 4:20Just what a heartbreaker. I love this band so much.
- 4:22I have just about every Mastodon record on final.
- 4:25I have seen the band countless times.
- 4:27This photo is a photo that I took.
- 4:29You can see my old photo mark in the corner there.
- 4:33This is a photo I shot during the Hunter tour right before I
- 4:36joined Ghost Cult, which I eventually ended up taking over
- 4:39and I am now the co-owner. Thanks for all of y'all.
- 4:44What's up taken and what's up my shit your pants.
- 4:47What a strange name you have. I appreciate y'all for watching.
- 4:50We're doing some rock and metal news and we started off by
- 4:52talking about Brent Heinz of Mastodon and just what a
- 4:57heartbreaker. What a heartbreaking thing
- 4:59Cletus is here. What up?
- 5:01Just super sad. Super sad that he's gone.
- 5:04We'll talk a little bit more about.
- 5:05That later in the show, also this week in Celebrity Passings,
- 5:11Terence Stamp. I know most people know him from
- 5:14the original Christopher Reeve Superman where he played Zod.
- 5:20He was an acclaimed actor and just a a great person.
- 5:25Obviously he was in Star Wars as Chancellor Valorem.
- 5:31Yeah, there, John says. They're set at Aftershock.
- 5:33Playing Leviathan top to bottom was fucking amazeballs.
- 5:36Dude, I love Leviathan and we'll talk more.
- 5:40About them. You're named after Christopher
- 5:42Reeves. That's killer.
- 5:43I love me some Christopher Reeves.
- 5:45What a what a what a guy. I saw him on.
- 5:47Broadway as well as a lot of his movies, not just not just in the
- 5:5280s. I have a fan going here.
- 5:55I'm I met my girlfriends and it's blazing hot, but I'm
- 5:59bringing you the show best I can without my studio and
- 6:02everything, so I'm doing the best I can.
- 6:04She's awesome too. She's very patient and great
- 6:09with me by. The way this Terran stamp image
- 6:11here is from the cover of a single by The Smiths.
- 6:14I don't know if you can. Zoom in on this other place.
- 6:16So what difference does it make? Which is, you know, one of their
- 6:18better songs? And yeah, he was the.
- 6:20Cover model for them. Single, which is crazy.
- 6:25I got to take a sip of this liquid death here because I'm
- 6:27parched. If you've never seen, if you
- 6:32like plays and you've never seen the play, death trap.
- 6:34That's actually what Christopher Reeve was known for.
- 6:39Besides, Superman was death trap and obviously beside the injury
- 6:43that, you know, paralyzed him. Yep, death trap the play.
- 6:49It's super interesting. Also this week here at Ghost
- 6:53Cult, unfortunately we have to remember the passings of some of
- 6:58our past staff, including my dear friend Melina Dellavaggio
- 7:02who passed away nine years ago. Hard to believe that it is 9
- 7:06years since she passed. We usually do some kind of
- 7:09celebration for her every year on this time and again.
- 7:13I'm always a person that says I really want to, you know,
- 7:17Christine is also here and Riff Informativo is here.
- 7:21I want to really remember people, how they lived and not
- 7:24just that they died. And I think that's really
- 7:26important. Yeah.
- 7:27Hottest day of the year I'm. I'm up in Santa Rosa, John.
- 7:30So, yeah, hottest day of the year.
- 7:32I'm up here. It's blazing up here.
- 7:35So Molina died nine years ago. It'll be 10 years next year.
- 7:39And thank you, Taken. I appreciate that.
- 7:42And also our former senior editor, Matt Davies, Rafa
- 7:46Davies, who's a good friend of mine, not just a staffer, but we
- 7:49he used to come over to America for work and we had a lot of
- 7:52good times together. So ghost together in an arena.
- 7:56And he's just an absolutely lovely fellow.
- 7:58And he also died young four years ago.
- 8:02So you know, you know, we carry their memories on with us.
- 8:07There's a Valhalla section of our website for our staff that
- 8:09has passed away. It's also the five year.
- 8:11Anniversary of the passing of Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot.
- 8:15I try to tell people that, you know, like there's very few
- 8:19bands with original members or even no original members.
- 8:22There's a lot of bands out there that don't have original
- 8:24members. So I know that Frankie's wish
- 8:26was that Quiet Riot would continue without him no matter
- 8:28what, and they have tried to, which I respect.
- 8:32Johnny Kelly was his hand picked successor, you know, Johnny from
- 8:35Type O Negative and Silver Tomb and Some Don't Shine and a bunch
- 8:39of other Danzig, a bunch of other bands.
- 8:41And so yeah, Frankie passed away.
- 8:43The band Pat, you know, shared something.
- 8:45About that and also sort of heavenly birthdays or birthdays
- 8:52in Valhalla. Dimebag Darrell would have been
- 8:5759 yesterday from Pantera. Damage plan and rebel meets
- 9:01rebel. I was a huge Pantera fan.
- 9:03We did just a few months ago a worst deaths in rock and metal
- 9:07history. This is before Ozzie died and
- 9:09now Brent Hines. Yeah, of course, dude, I've.
- 9:12Seen. Sentence I saw sentence I have a
- 9:14wild story about that band finished death metal band really
- 9:19incredible, right and they came to America to play a.
- 9:22Festival that I was attending in New Jersey.
- 9:25And a year later, my band, my thrash metal band played that
- 9:28festival. But the year before we showed up
- 9:31to see them on. They were the headliner for
- 9:32Friday night. We went down there to see them.
- 9:34It was actually Jack Kaushik who used to run the Milwaukee Metal
- 9:38Fest, and he did a New Jersey version of that.
- 9:42And Sentence literally flew to Newark, NJ from.
- 9:46Finland on a. Red eye flew all day and all.
- 9:49Night to get to the. You know, America with the time
- 9:51change got off the plane. Grabbed their stuff, came to the
- 9:56venue, showed up with drumsticks and guitars and basses.
- 9:59No amps. You know they were using the
- 10:00festival gear and they were renting gear for the rest of the
- 10:03US tour. They played 20 minutes before
- 10:05the curfew hit and the venue cut the power to them.
- 10:09And they were. So.
- 10:10Fucking mad I I appreciated that they handled it as
- 10:13professionally as I could because I would be fucking mad
- 10:16too. But the power was cut on them.
- 10:17I've had it happen to my band a couple.
- 10:19Of times where we played too long in it.
- 10:21You linked us. But like, yeah, man, great band.
- 10:24Super, super good to dig, dig deep and find a bunch of, you
- 10:28know, new bands to you, even if they're not new.
- 10:31Yeah, super unfortunate. Frankie's death came up in my
- 10:34Facebook. Memories today, John says mental
- 10:36health was 8 year old Johnny's intro to our kind of music.
- 10:39Bro, I'm telling you, bang your head it is.
- 10:42Dubro was a beast, he really was.
- 10:44He rocked hard and he lived hard.
- 10:47Did several interviews with Trunk in the last couple years
- 10:49about battling. Yeah, pancreatic.
- 10:50Yeah, get screened early, man. Stomach cancer and pancreatic
- 10:54cancer are absolute killers. So yeah, also celebrating would
- 11:00have celebrated a birthday, Phil.
- 11:01Linnet from Thin Lizzy would have been 76 yesterday.
- 11:05I'm a humongous Thin Lizzy fan. They're much more interesting
- 11:09than just the hit songs. Everybody knows boys are back in
- 11:11town and all of that. Emerald and stuff, but they are
- 11:14an incredible band, probably the most underrated major band of
- 11:19rock history in my personal opinion.
- 11:22But that's just me, I could be wrong.
- 11:26Raise is here, JD. Is here.
- 11:29Thanks for being here. Appreciate you all.
- 11:31Just like to check in and see who's watching where.
- 11:34Steve O is here. Thin Lizzy taking Thin Lizzy.
- 11:39So there's a statue of him. Here's a fun picture of him with
- 11:43Mayor Mccheese. For some reason, they only
- 11:46played America a couple of times before Phil died.
- 11:49And there's a bronze, a solid bronze statue of Phil in Dublin
- 11:54where he's from. And I would love to go there
- 11:56someday because. It's kind of a shrine.
- 11:58For Phil, celebrating. Birthday this week, onto a
- 12:00happier note. Ian Gillan of Deep Purple is 80.
- 12:05Years old, I don't know how much.
- 12:06More they're those guys are going to keep going.
- 12:08They just had a new album out with their written by their new
- 12:12lead guitarist Simon McBride, but 80.
- 12:14Years old, I saw Ian Gillan right before the pandemic at the
- 12:19Beacon Theatre in New York City, and they were fierce.
- 12:23He had pretty much most of his range.
- 12:24Robert Plant turned. 77 yesterday.
- 12:28I think KRS-one also celebrated a birthday yesterday.
- 12:30I forgot to get the picture. And big my favorite rapper of
- 12:33all time also celebrating a birthday was Milo Silvestro of
- 12:38Fear Factory. We'll talk a little bit more
- 12:40about Fear Factory later. I'm super pumped.
- 12:43That's a great story for that guy.
- 12:45He's incredible. Yep, best mates with Huey Lewis,
- 12:49who played guest harmonica and backing vocals on several Thin
- 12:54Lizzy records before he was famous.
- 12:56Isn't that killer? Good stuff.
- 12:59Kenny Ray is here. Appreciate y'all.
- 13:03Oh. It's a hot 1.
- 13:05I'm also celebrating a birthday this week is the girl from the
- 13:08front cover of Deftones Around the fur who I believe her name
- 13:12is Jordan Hughes. And I think she is 40 this week,
- 13:19which means she was a youngster back in 97.
- 13:23But yeah, killer stuff. She was a teen model.
- 13:27Also in rock history, we like to talk about rock and metal
- 13:30history here on the show and usually more positive things.
- 13:34August 16th, just the other day, was the 1970. 4 was the debut of
- 13:40the Ramones. As a live band at.
- 13:44CBG. BS, one of the first bands to
- 13:46play CBG. BS even before the major punk
- 13:50era. Mike Chandler is also here.
- 13:52What's up, Mike? Thanks for being here.
- 13:54Appreciate those of you watching on the Tube of You.
- 13:56If you're new here, please subscribe.
- 13:59You know, having a music website without corporate sponsorship is
- 14:02just like being in a band. Do I know any bands like
- 14:05Sentenced or that I think you would like?
- 14:06Well early Soil Work and In Flames are very much like
- 14:11Sentenced. If you need heavier without any
- 14:14melodic vocals at all then I might suggest Dissection or
- 14:20Intubed but a big fan here of Soil Work and In Flames pre new
- 14:27metal even though I kind of like the new metal In flames also.
- 14:31Also, album anniversaries in the last week include.
- 14:35Alice in Chain's facelift. 34 years ago today, Death and her
- 14:41embrace. Oh sorry, Dusk and her embrace
- 14:43by Crayola filth. My bad.
- 14:46Seems like Death and Her Embrace would be a good name though.
- 14:49Type O Negative. October Rust it is officially
- 14:51spooky season. Check out October rust by Type O
- 14:55Negative. Also also corn follow the
- 14:57leader. That's their third record kind
- 15:01of blew them up on. TRL with the got the Life video.
- 15:04And freak on a leash and all of. That hammer fall has an album
- 15:09anniversary this week. Except had two records.
- 15:12Out on the on This Week in History.
- 15:15Both of those in the Mark Tornillo I'm pretty much pretty
- 15:18hype on except Donald Trump claiming this was not one of my
- 15:23favorite ones a couple of years ago.
- 15:26Not not super stellar. I love a lot of deathcore and
- 15:30metal core and slam my man. So yeah, Sabaton, this is a
- 15:36pretty. Solid record by then the last
- 15:38stand. For you people.
- 15:40Who love history and the military and.
- 15:44Sabaton's power metal was very surprised to see Sabaton sign to
- 15:50better noise music that has like 5 finger death punch and bad.
- 15:53Wolves And In this moment, Slipknot's fourth album, All
- 15:57Hope is gone. I remember this coming out at
- 15:59the time that it was like very controversial among their fan
- 16:03base. Looking back, it's actually one
- 16:06of their more, you know, like standard Slipknot records.
- 16:09I know they started to do sort of Stone Sour type ballads on
- 16:13this record and people were fucking mad.
- 16:15About it but. Honestly honestly Slipknot all
- 16:20hope is gone is killer. I do not know villain of the
- 16:24story, but that's a cool name. And I will check them out.
- 16:26Aluna is also here. Hello.
- 16:28Hello. All right.
- 16:30Moving forward. Moving forward, Anthrax.
- 16:31Persistence of time high school me.
- 16:33Was all about this record. And junior college me and I,
- 16:37honestly, when this record came out, I was like, man, these guys
- 16:40can't get any heavier or better hold my beer.
- 16:42Anthrax because they were going to.
- 16:44But like this record's awesome. Joey's last album with Anthrax
- 16:48until the late. Two Thousands 2011.
- 16:53In fact, here's the other except album that came out this week in
- 16:56history. Minnesota band.
- 16:57You're from Minnesota. Nice, I I.
- 16:59Have been through. Minneapolis and had a great time
- 17:01there and I'm highly looking forward to getting back there.
- 17:05John loves this album. I assume you mean Persistence of
- 17:08Time, Flesh Got Apocalypse, Labyrinth.
- 17:12This is from a while back. Great killer sort of operatic
- 17:16symphonic death metal band. Incredible mix of things.
- 17:20Merciful fate Into the unknown. Not a great album, but what are
- 17:25you going to do? Wasps debut came out 40 years
- 17:27ago. 41 years ago this week. Oh, I love Hollywood.
- 17:32Undead when you were. 12, dude, that's awesome when you're 12
- 17:34years old. Hollywood Undead feels like one
- 17:36of the fucking biggest middle fingers to everything.
- 17:39I love them so much unapologetically.
- 17:42And I've interviewed Johnny and Johnny three tears, and I'm
- 17:47looking forward to again talking to them again.
- 17:50Someday. Big fan.
- 17:53Big fan. Bon Jovi, Slippery When?
- 17:56Wet John. Do you remember this being the
- 17:57original cover of the album and then the record label?
- 18:00Had to fucking. Take this down and put up a
- 18:03different photo as the cover because titties. 1986.
- 18:09Boy it was tough to have breasts on an album cover without
- 18:12getting people upset at you. I don't understand but Bon Jovi,
- 18:17love him or hate him, killer album, big fan.
- 18:23Bo show also also Dragon. Force has an album anniversary
- 18:27for this week. Of course I have it by.
- 18:31Exodus. It was kind of like the early
- 18:3390s and everybody was trying to kind of like be.
- 18:36You know, Black Album, Metallica, you know.
- 18:39Everybody kind of softened up a little bit and did a little more
- 18:42Hard Rock. Instead of metal.
- 18:44So not a great record, but not the worst record.
- 18:47Just a reminder. You know, as I said, we.
- 18:52Work hard at this stuff. We don't.
- 18:54We have some advertising that we sell and.
- 18:57And AD network. We're part of We'll talk.
- 18:58About in a minute, but if you want to drop us a tip,
- 19:01especially if you're on YouTube, feel free to drop us a super
- 19:06thanks or a super chat in the YouTube.
- 19:10But also you can tip us on other places too.
- 19:14And yeah, I'm greatly appreciative because we work.
- 19:17Man, hard at this and pretty much all the time.
- 19:20Me and my partner Omar Leifer sounds cool.
- 19:23I like that band too. Oboe Wizard?
- 19:24What up? What up Rob?
- 19:25Rage is here. Got some regulars coming in.
- 19:29Bon Jovi helped that. Yeah, man, I bet.
- 19:31Man, it helped all of us. And then just a reminder if you
- 19:36want to. Pay us.
- 19:37The places to pay us include Cash App, coffee, PayPal, Venmo,
- 19:41whatever you got. It's usually all at Ghost Cult
- 19:43Mag. And it's at Ghost Cult Mag for
- 19:46all the socials if you're there following.
- 19:49And here's our big Cash App QR code if you want to pause it.
- 19:53That's good to go back to me. Hey, But anywho, you know, I
- 19:59don't need to plug it too much. I appreciate everybody.
- 20:02Time for some features. Thanks for humoring the intro of
- 20:05the show. That's what we do, our metal
- 20:07history and our announcements and AR respects.
- 20:10And now it's time for some features we had this week.
- 20:11And we debuted some pretty killer songs this week.
- 20:16So first First off, we dropped a brand new single.
- 20:20By Robin Taylor Xander Do You Know who?
- 20:23That is, that is the son of Robin Xander and Cheap Trick.
- 20:26Robin Taylor Xander is a full member of Cheap Trick.
- 20:30He sings back up and plays guitar and and other
- 20:33instruments. He also plays every instrument
- 20:35actually. And he dropped a brand new
- 20:37single from his upcoming solo album called.
- 20:39All, she wrote. And it sounds exactly like The
- 20:43Beatles. Like it's beautiful.
- 20:45It sounds like a mid level Beatles pop.
- 20:47Song. It's absolutely beautiful.
- 20:49The. PR hit us up and asked us if we
- 20:51would help share the news and we did and they shared it.
- 20:54Backing Robin up on the track is his sister Robin Sailor Xander.
- 20:58So you get a Xander, you get a Xander, you get a Xander,
- 21:01everybody gets a Xander. And it's a fun track.
- 21:04Maybe it's not the most. Metal song you'll.
- 21:05Ever hear it's not but like it's not the hardest?
- 21:08Song, but it's fun and it's really cool and I'm very excited
- 21:11about Robin Taylor Xander's upcoming out.
- 21:15And then I might even try to interview him.
- 21:17Also this week we premiered The Progressive.
- 21:20Metal band Night's Edge. New single.
- 21:22Their new album is out tomorrow and we premiered their new
- 21:25single in video. Super cool fun band, power trio
- 21:29and into progressive metal. If you like Dream Theater and
- 21:32you like Leprous and you like, you know, Pineapple.
- 21:35Thief bands like that spot beard.
- 21:40Also this is. Super cool there's a.
- 21:43One person black metal inspired project called Nun and we
- 21:47premiered their new music video and single.
- 21:50And this is super intriguing to me because it reminded me a
- 21:53little bit of the new Black Braid, but also the band Zaster.
- 21:57So if you know Zaster from the Appalachians and Panopticons,
- 22:01more chill stuff, it's very much like Opeth.
- 22:05Unplugged it's like. Black metal inspired, but also
- 22:08very. Chill None refers.
- 22:11To their music. As dark gospel, which is super
- 22:15interesting. Slammily, guy, nice work.
- 22:20You know, sometimes you got to be silly.
- 22:22And yeah, I'm in. I'm into the brutal slam myself,
- 22:25too. But you know, you got to have
- 22:27wide taste, especially when you're a music journalist.
- 22:29You kind of get to sample everything, which is fun.
- 22:33And again, last week we premiered the brand new video
- 22:35from Sumo Psycho. If you don't know that band.
- 22:37Check them out, they're from Vancouver, BC and they're very
- 22:41DIY. And they have like very
- 22:45ambitious as a band. They live in the same house,
- 22:47they make music videos in their own studio, they record their
- 22:50albums by themselves and they are super fun.
- 22:53And Sky Suite them is their lead singer and she kicks ass.
- 22:57Just to remember a reminder, we do live streams all the time.
- 23:00We did one last night that I'll talk about in a minute.
- 23:03I did a live stream review of the brand new 9 Inch Nails tour,
- 23:07then I went to a couple of weeks back.
- 23:09You definitely. Want to check that?
- 23:11Out I I believe that I will do yeah well, so DIY can mean a lot
- 23:18of things historically DIY obviously do it yourself in the
- 23:21music sense is like I am not corporate backed I might have
- 23:24managed a manager. I might do my I might have
- 23:27professional PR and marketing I'm a music marketer.
- 23:30Hi, you know me. And.
- 23:33But also like they are not affiliated with a label.
- 23:37You still might have a very professional band.
- 23:39So they do, you know, that's kind of what's up in terms of
- 23:43another live stream this week. I might jump on tomorrow once I
- 23:46have a chance to work a little bit more on my Deftones review.
- 23:51I haven't got we ran our. Review Early in the week we
- 23:53talked about Deftones in the new album in a minute.
- 23:56But I might do a live. Stream review of that new album,
- 23:59but you can read that that review.
- 24:01On our website right now, also some interviews we do, we
- 24:05interview bands on our YouTube and you'll see little clips of
- 24:08it on TikTok and you and YouTube reels and shorts and Instagram
- 24:13reels. So I interviewed Steven Blush.
- 24:16This is one of my bucket. List.
- 24:19Interviews. I've interviewed thousands of
- 24:21artists, everybody from Ozzy to Devin Townsend to Alice In
- 24:24Chains. But Steve Blush wrote the book
- 24:27and helped make the movie American Hardcore if you're a
- 24:30big hardcore punk person. So Steve was a Zen guy and a
- 24:34journalist way back when underground, and then he got
- 24:38started writing for big websites and magazines like Spin and
- 24:42Village Voice and other places. And so he made the American
- 24:46hardcore. Book.
- 24:47It's in its fourth printing. I believe it's printed in eight
- 24:50or 10 languages. And I got to talk to Steve all
- 24:53about punk rock and his relationship to the punk rock
- 24:56music. He also has other books out
- 24:57about other kinds of music. He got a lot of shit when he
- 25:01wrote a book about glam metal. He was really like kicked around
- 25:05for that because he was a punk guy.
- 25:07How are you writing about glam metal?
- 25:08But he also liked glam metal, and he was like, you know, I
- 25:11love hardcore punk for. Beating up people in the pit.
- 25:14And I liked glam metal. For teaching me about chicks and
- 25:17and sex and things sex. Drug and rock'n'roll.
- 25:20So pretty fun. Great interview, highly
- 25:22recommend you check it out. You can watch the movie on
- 25:25demand, I think it's on Amazon Prime.
- 25:28It might be on YouTube somewhere still.
- 25:31We put links in the description of the interview.
- 25:33Where you could buy? Or.
- 25:34Buy the book. From Steve and he's got a new
- 25:37book coming out later in the year about rap and metal and new
- 25:41metal. I also interviewed the death
- 25:43metal band Beast from Denmark. They have a brand new album out
- 25:47called Colossal on Century Media Records.
- 25:49Killer. Absolute brutal death metal
- 25:52band. Kind of reminds me of like old
- 25:53school death metal away in a way, like Immolation or
- 25:56Suffocation or Cannibal Corpse. Very killer stuff.
- 26:02Hydrate as much as possible, OK? Also we interviewed my partner
- 26:09Omar interviewed Angelo Moore of Fishbone.
- 26:13Fishbone is a legendary band, if you don't know, from across punk
- 26:17and sky metal and and everything else in between.
- 26:20And they have a brand new album out called Stockholm Syndrome.
- 26:24And they had some drama the last couple of years where the band
- 26:26kind of revolted against Angelo and some of them founding
- 26:30members left. They have a new band.
- 26:31I'll talk about them next week. But Angelo?
- 26:35Just. Held nothing back in this
- 26:37interview. It is so fun and refreshing to
- 26:39hear somebody. Just kind of not give a fuck and
- 26:43just lay it all on the line. Much respect.
- 26:46Just a. Reminder, if you are, if you are
- 26:50anywhere in the LA area, we were giving away tickets to Acid
- 26:54Bath. They're playing tomorrow night,
- 26:56but we're giving away tickets to the show next Friday with the
- 27:01Obsessed and Pig Destroyer. Acid Bath's comeback has been
- 27:06like one of the biggest things ever.
- 27:08And you know, I'm really proud to be part of this Sammy duet.
- 27:13From Goat Whore is in that band also and I'm a I'm a big Sammy
- 27:17person. We've hung out and interviewed
- 27:19him a few times. I would love to talk to Dats
- 27:21rings. He does not like the music
- 27:23industry at all, or interviewers or journalists or press.
- 27:27But acid bath. I'm looking forward to seeing
- 27:29them at Aftershock John. Do I know bands from Minnesota
- 27:33well? Quite a quite a bit.
- 27:34I don't know too many underground bands.
- 27:36There's a there's a big, I know there's a big Stoner doom.
- 27:39Contingent in Minnesota, there's a lot of technical death metals
- 27:43bands from there, like After the Burial is from there obviously.
- 27:46Classically Husker Do is from there.
- 27:49There was a big punk scene in Minnesota, obviously.
- 27:51Prince, the greatest ever to do it in in across different
- 27:56genres, R&B and pop and funk and and rock.
- 28:01So yeah. If you want to check out and
- 28:02enter to win this acid bath pair of.
- 28:05Tickets we're giving away, feel free to.
- 28:09Hey, Full Metal Jackie's passing by.
- 28:11Full Metal Jackie knows what a huge.

- 28:16you're on every place that's not TikTok and you know, enter to
- 28:21win this giveaway. We're also doing a giveaway with
- 28:23my other podcast, the Glacier League Musical Podcast We.
- 28:27Talk about vinyl, craft beer, taking care of your vinyl
- 28:30collection, etcetera. So we're giving away curated
- 28:34bundles from my Co hosts collection of C, DS and vinyl.
- 28:39So that's going to go on a few more weeks into September and
- 28:42we're going to launch another giveaway for tickets to a
- 28:45concert tour next week. You will see.
- 28:48You might shit yourself when you find out who it is.
- 28:51So now it's time for the rest of the news rundown.
- 28:53And as usual, we do metal festivals first, followed by
- 28:57concert tours and then all the news, rumors, drama, stories,
- 29:00etcetera. So let's, let's talk about
- 29:03briefly about some metal festivals happening soon.
- 29:07You know, we're just kind of ending the European metal
- 29:10festival season. US metal festival season still
- 29:12goes on a little bit. Longer.
- 29:15Check it out. Good things Festival.
- 29:18We were talking about this last. Week.
- 29:19The tickets are on sale now. In Australia at the end of the
- 29:23year. Tool.
- 29:24Weezer garbage all time low machine head all American
- 29:27rejects not loose refused. Make them suffer.
- 29:33I mean, stay Seeker, Gore, Hi Viz, you know, Dead Poets
- 29:40Society, Inertia, Pillai Royale, yours truly, Windwalker.
- 29:45Lot of killer bands, lot of metal core on there.
- 29:48Lot of metal core on there. Very cool.
- 29:50Stuff on the Good Things festival.
- 29:52Also announced this week the 12th anniversary of the FYA
- 29:56Fest. Believe this is down in Florida
- 29:59Headline by Hatebreed Imagine seeing Hatebreed in a small.
- 30:04Club with no barricade, just chaos.
- 30:06Hatebreed train my personal. Favorite hardcore band of all
- 30:10time, Gorilla Biscuits. Flesh Water ended.
- 30:12It was a new song out Haywire Marauder, The classic, you know,
- 30:19Age of Apocalypse, C4, Combust, Everybody takes 1, Exit Life,
- 30:23Hold my own. I promised the world magnitude
- 30:26Missing Link Mongrel, no idols, nasty scarabs, sin against sin
- 30:32start today. Aim for a gorilla.
- 30:34Biscuit song and so many more. Also.
- 30:37Also punk in the park has been getting a lot of press this
- 30:39summer. Punk in the Parks Next event is
- 30:43Punk in the Park, LA in San Pedro, Bad Religion,
- 30:47Descendants, Pennywise and Interrupters.
- 30:50Are your headliners along with. A bunch of other punk bands Face
- 30:53to Face, The Addicts, Stiff Little Fingers, St.
- 30:56Dogs Come Back, Kid, The Bronx, Casualties, A Bomb Squad, Agent
- 31:01Orange, Adolescence, Two Sons of Liberty, Dead to Me, Teenage
- 31:06Bottle Rocket, Gutter Mouth. 1234 slam, big fan there.
- 31:10Ignite. I love Ignite, it's got my homie
- 31:12in that band. Lot of killer.
- 31:14Bands and also they just announced a punk rock Christmas.
- 31:17Basically, Punk in the Park presents punk rock Christmas in
- 31:20Arizona. Hey, something stupid is here.
- 31:22What up? What up, what up, what up?
- 31:24Andre's here. Thanks for being here.
- 31:26Thanks for being back. MXPXI.
- 31:31Haven't heard from them in a long time.
- 31:33I think they did a live stream thing a year ago and that's the
- 31:36last time I heard about them. Void hunters passed by.
- 31:39Also good to see you face to face.
- 31:42Vandals, perhaps featuring Josh. Freeze back in Nine Inch Nails
- 31:46Authority 0. Voodoo.
- 31:48GLOW, skulls, urethane, genpop, and more.
- 31:52A lot of punk rock. We might go cover that.
- 31:54We have a whole team in Arizona, so we may be doing that.
- 31:57This just looked really. Cool mass extinction event you
- 31:59think about. Where are festivals?
- 32:00Happening that I don't know about.
- 32:02Like where in the world is metal happening?
- 32:04And one of those places is Singapore.
- 32:07Singapore, that's right. And they're having a huge
- 32:10festival with Marduk and 200 Stab Wounds and all these other
- 32:16killer bands with illegible, unreadable logos.
- 32:19But I think it's hella cool. All right, Rain City Doom Fest.
- 32:29We talked about this recently too.
- 32:31Acid King Regana Regana's incredible Electric Citizen,
- 32:34which mountain boy I kind of would like to go to.
- 32:37This I don't know. At the El.
- 32:39Corazon and the Funhouse. This looks amazing.
- 32:44I have never been to Seattle. Just a reminder, public sales
- 32:48are on for the 70 Tons of Metal festival and unlike recent years
- 32:53they have announced most of the lineup already.
- 32:55Usually they are announcing bands.
- 32:58Right up until. The Sailing You saw 200 in a
- 33:02small venue last month. Such a killer band.
- 33:04Live I am. Will we be?
- 33:08Covering headbangers boat. The answer is maybe.
- 33:10I have some personal stuff going on right now, so I don't know we
- 33:16the it's, it's out there. I think it's more likely.
- 33:19That I might. Go on 70 tons of metal next
- 33:21winter. I've never we've covered the
- 33:22cruise. I've never been on it myself.
- 33:24So maybe I'd love to go on headbangers boat that I think
- 33:30it's going to continue to go. They seem to be selling.
- 33:32Them out every year, so as long as it's selling out, they'll
- 33:35keep. Doing them right.
- 33:38Levitation Festival we've been talking about.
- 33:40This is late September. Mastodon, acid bath, the sword,
- 33:44blood incantation and the armed pavement.
- 33:46TV on the radio. Brian Jonestown Massacre.
- 33:50I thought they were broken up but.
- 33:51OK, they keep having fights on stage.
- 33:53I don't know how that's working out, boy.
- 33:54Harsher. Jeff Rosenstock, Andy Warhols,
- 33:59Martin, Rev Pretty Neil Francis. Pretty incredible.
- 34:04Pretty great lineup. Just a reminder, Loudon in Life
- 34:07has announced their set times the return of Slayer, who got
- 34:11hurricaned out last year because of Hurricane Helene, Slayer,
- 34:15Avenged Sevenfold, Deftones, Rob Zombie, Sleep Token, Bad Omens,
- 34:21Suicide Boys, Marilyn Manson, Trivium, All Time Low, Dillinger
- 34:28Escape Plan. So many bands let.
- 34:31Live the. Return of Let live, Slayer, bro.
- 34:35Slayer. Oh yeah, you were there.
- 34:36Oh, no, Hurricane Slayer. Well, we'll be.
- 34:40We should be covering it this year.
- 34:41My buddy Jim is going to go out there and cover.
- 34:43It we covered it last year too. If you're in a.
- 34:46Band, here's a good idea. Here's some good advice.
- 34:48Do like my dude Mark Lopes. Mark Lopes is the vocalist for
- 34:51Ross the Boss. He's also the vocalist for
- 34:55Mental Church. And Ross, the Boss has been on
- 34:59tour all summer. At major metal festivals in
- 35:02Europe. But Mark continues to like, even
- 35:04though it's tough, you're on tour, you're going from country
- 35:07to country in some cases, but he's out there promoting his
- 35:11band. He's in while they're on tour.
- 35:14If you're on tour, it doesn't stop promoting.
- 35:18You don't stop promoting it because you're on the road.
- 35:21You have to keep working, unfortunately, in this day and
- 35:24age. So I just like that Lopes, who's
- 35:25a buddy of mine, straight up. Big lip troll.
- 35:29Yep. RIP RIP Brent Hines, dude.
- 35:31We talk. We're going to talk about it
- 35:32again in a minute, but we open the show talking.
- 35:34About it. Thanks for being here, big lip
- 35:35troll. But yeah, he was promoting.
- 35:37Their last show was today. I just like this so much.
- 35:41I wanted to share this killer shot of him.
- 35:42I don't. Know who the photographer is,
- 35:43but we've got, we know Mark, we'll be interviewing him again
- 35:46whenever, whenever Metal Church gets back around to putting that
- 35:51record out. They worked on and didn't put
- 35:52out something stupid with, Dom says I got free.
- 35:55Tickets and all the bands. Well, one we're.
- 35:58There on the main 1 and 2. That's the best.
- 36:00I mean, you know, some of these festivals, I'll be honest as I
- 36:03get older. And I'm pretty.
- 36:04Chubby and sweaty and I have to take really much better care of
- 36:08myself when I start doing festivals again because I'm on
- 36:11medications and all kinds of things.
- 36:13I just can't go like eat garbage and and not sleep and this and
- 36:16that but. Some of these festivals are a
- 36:19little. Crazy with too many stages, but
- 36:21respect to the Danny Wimmer. Festivals.
- 36:23They're mostly pretty. Navigatable.
- 36:27That's not a word. You're just going for the Slayer
- 36:29day. Killer, bro, killer.
- 36:31But yeah, good job Lopes again. Blades of Steel Metal Fest
- 36:34taking place in Wisconsin coming up soon.
- 36:36With. Warbringer, Satan and
- 36:38Incantation. I just love any excuse to say
- 36:41Satan. Sadness and failure Festival led
- 36:45by Acacia Strain. You know, they have a new album
- 36:47coming out. This is a.
- 36:48Lot of fun at their home base. Of the new the.
- 36:52Worcester, Palladium and where I used to go to a lot of shows
- 36:55when I lived in Boston. Look at this lineup.
- 36:58This is insane. Acacia strain haywire Missing
- 37:02link. Age of Apocalypse, mongrel
- 37:07Acacia strain on broken wings, body snatcher ingrown, no cure
- 37:12and tribal gaze. God damn.
- 37:15Last Whimmer you saw was Sonic Temple.
- 37:16Was that this year or last year? Dom?
- 37:18Just curious. Sonic Temple again always gets
- 37:21we've covered it. Good reviews.
- 37:24Aftershock. Looks like I'll be here with my
- 37:26buddy John who was in the chat earlier.
- 37:28I'm hoping to go to this. Not too crazy about Friday
- 37:32except for acid bath and hate breed but Thursday, Deftones,
- 37:36Friday Corn, and you know Mudvane who I have yet to see
- 37:41since they came back. On Sunday.
- 37:44So I'm. I'm good on that.
- 37:47Might even leave after Mudvayne. I don't know, 2025.
- 37:52Yeah. The Metallica day, of course.
- 37:53Of course. Me talking to my friend about.
- 37:56The first six Black Sabbath albums.
- 38:00I love it so much. You know, I'm going to just.
- 38:04Jump in here and say again like life is mad short.
- 38:08I tell everybody to take care of themselves.
- 38:12But you got to absolutely find your happiness and joy.
- 38:16I know a lot of people are walking around out there
- 38:18stressed, sad, upset, depressed. It's not.
- 38:23Uncool to say I'm. Having a hard time and I don't,
- 38:27I'm not happy, but like please take good care of yourselves.
- 38:29Please. There's only one you and there's
- 38:32no you once you're gone, you know?
- 38:36There we go. Good shit.
- 38:40Just a reminder. Tours kicking off soon,
- 38:43including one off events where Juno's headline tour is just
- 38:46weeks away with direct support from Chelsea Wolf.
- 38:50We will be covering one of these shows.
- 38:52I'm not 100% sure which one yet. They are playing Oakland Arena
- 38:55in early September. Oh the Paramount theater, not
- 38:58the Oakland. I was just at the Oakland arena
- 39:00for 9 inch nails so I believe is next.
- 39:02Bang. 9 inch Nails pale back tour continues.
- 39:06Friends of mine were hitting me up and asking me about the
- 39:08setlist. Seems like they are changing up
- 39:11the setlist a little bit every night, which is fun.
- 39:15And again by the next time 9 Inch nails towards the US, which
- 39:18hopefully will be next year, they will have a new album out
- 39:21on top of the Tron era soundtrack something.
- 39:24Stupid with Dawn says I was moving.
- 39:25Some stuff out of my grandma's house, her vinyls.
- 39:27First ever Kiss. That's awesome.
- 39:29Not a great album, but like, I love that.
- 39:31She had the kiss out, my first album ever.
- 39:34That I bought with my own money was Kiss Rock'n'roll over?
- 39:38I was was around my 5th birthday.
- 39:40The album came out over the summer when I was still 4 and I
- 39:43had $8 and I went down to the record store on Pelham Parkway
- 39:47and White Plains Rd. in the Bronx, NY.
- 39:49My mom walked me all the way there.
- 39:51It seemed like the longest walk of my life.
- 39:53It was so far from my house that seemingly at the time.
- 39:57I was only a couple of miles honestly, but you know, I was a
- 39:59little ass kid. I probably needed the walk for
- 40:01the, you know, the beat back, the chubbiness.
- 40:03And yeah, man, I got that KISS record and it meant everything
- 40:06to me. And I had to kiss some of the
- 40:07KISS dolls and the KISS lunch box and everything.
- 40:10Super cool. If you were from the New York
- 40:12City area, you know fast. Lane Studios Fast Lane Studios
- 40:15is a place. Where a lot of Roadrunner.
- 40:19Bands in the 90s Type O Negative life of agony.
- 40:25You know, step too far. Like a a lot of the sick of it
- 40:31all, a lot of the New York hardcore bands, a lot of the New
- 40:33York metal bands recorded at this place in Brooklyn called
- 40:37Fast Lane Studios. And after tireless work, they
- 40:41are going to name a lane in Brooklyn a street Mike
- 40:44Ferraro's. Lane.
- 40:45On the block where the studio was thanks to local politicians.
- 40:51Sometimes politicians are bullshit and sometimes they
- 40:53actually do stuff. Justin Brannan.
- 40:55You may have. Seen news stories about him.
- 40:58He used to be in Indecision, the hardcore band and Most Precious
- 41:01Blood, which was like the precursor to a lot of slam.
- 41:04Death bands, they were like hardcore kids that played death
- 41:07metal. So my man Allen.
- 41:11Robert of Life of Agony posted this up and that this is
- 41:15happening on September 13th. Perhaps we'll get down there.
- 41:18And be part of the. Ceremony and the bass that Mike
- 41:21sold to Allen Robert that he recorded all his original.
- 41:24Life of Agony bass lines on is hanging at the Hard Rock Cafe in
- 41:30Cologne, Germany, and it's autographed by.
- 41:32Allen and stuff as as you know, so Allen's a good friend to
- 41:35ghost cult of Dom says love that album and she lived in Queens in
- 41:39the time. Well, that's where it kisses
- 41:40from where the kiss army and everything.
- 41:42That's right, yeah. Yeah.
- 41:44So, Mike Ferrara. Super cool, super cool and and
- 41:50nice day. He's getting something done in
- 41:52his honor. He passed away last year.
- 41:54If you're in San Francisco, where I usually reside, tonight
- 41:58at the bottom of the hill, my homies and Oxide are playing.
- 42:01If you need like a sludgy dirgy doom band like Neurosis was.
- 42:07Oxide is my abandoned with my homies in it so I would have
- 42:10made it. Not the label, but like all the
- 42:15albums that were on the label. Mark Badger is here.
- 42:17What's up? No worries, Tom, no worries.
- 42:19Like I said, if you're from New York, you know, you know, If you
- 42:21don't know, you don't. No worries, bro.
- 42:23We're like AAI will take everybody in all conditions and
- 42:27we never gate keep here. I welcome everybody.
- 42:32You know, this is pretty cool. Also, a lot of stuff going on in
- 42:35my hometown. The The Bronx Council on the
- 42:39Arts is doing a panel discussion of women that rock.
- 42:43Which is super cool. I'm proud of them with a live.
- 42:46Performance by the Black Lotus. Band One of the coolest bands in
- 42:49New York City. I talk often about things going
- 42:52on in my hometown. Dark Angel.
- 42:54It's. Pre-orders are on.
- 42:55Right now for their comeback album Extinction Level.
- 42:58Event is that album. They are kicking off AUS tour
- 43:02soon. I know we interviewed Gene
- 43:04Hoagland earlier in the year and I believe I'm going to interview
- 43:08him this weekend. To help promote the tour and the
- 43:13new album So. Be on the lookout for that.
- 43:16Big. Gene fan, I just wanted to share
- 43:18this man Anne Wilson. The tour is the heart is off.
- 43:20Tour Lita Ford's got a new album coming early next year.
- 43:24Yeah, Mark, I'm. I'm.
- 43:25Super down man. I I'll tell you this, I've never
- 43:27interviewed Lita. I was supposed to interview her.
- 43:28I told this story to my girlfriend the other day.
- 43:31I was. Supposed to interview Lita at a
- 43:32festival. She was backstage doing
- 43:35interviews and then somebody. Dropped off the show and they
- 43:37moved up her time to earlier. So the time that she had to
- 43:41start playing was the time that I was supposed to interview her.
- 43:44So I came to do the interview and she was kind of packing up
- 43:48to go on stage. Literally had her guitar out.
- 43:51And tuning her guitar and she was like.
- 43:53Oh, I'm so sorry. I knew who.
- 43:55You were. I wanted to do this interview
- 43:57with you, but I'm doing, I'm moving.
- 43:59They moved my performance up earlier and then I'm leaving.
- 44:02But I just wanted to tell you. Thank.
- 44:04You for making the time Scott is here.
- 44:06What up brother? I miss chatting with you also.
- 44:09I suspect you are at work, but thanks bro.
- 44:13I'm hanging in there. My mental health is not good
- 44:16with Brent from Mastodon dying and a bunch of personal shit.
- 44:18But like, I'm trying my best. But yeah, Lita is all class,
- 44:22man. I'm going to say I know she had
- 44:23some sketchy and some problems. She's problematic.
- 44:26But like, I love Lita and I'm going to give her a chance and I
- 44:30would love to interview her when that new record comes.
- 44:32But I wanted to shout out Ann Wilson.
- 44:35Reunited with Nancy in heart and she went on tour she's got
- 44:39cancer she's 74 and they were like listen you can do the tour
- 44:43but you can't like move around you know she's in a wheelchair
- 44:46from recovering from major surgery they.
- 44:48Wheel her on, they wheel her off.
- 44:50What a what a badass and what a trooper like to me like
- 44:53obviously she didn't want to not perform as hard as canceled a
- 44:57few tours. But you know, with much respect
- 45:00to her for just just. Grinding it out man, and I hope
- 45:04she, you know, makes a full recovery.
- 45:07Yob has announced that Hell is now going to play their December
- 45:1118th hometown show at New MO's. Hopeful for new?
- 45:14Yob recording next year. I know they just started to work
- 45:18on material. Big yob fan.
- 45:22Yeah, man, Brent and Ozzy just just.
- 45:25Mind blowing. Sorry, mind blowing How hard
- 45:28that is Mind blowing. Also coming up soon.
- 45:36Narcotic Wasteland featuring Dallas Tyler Wade, formerly of
- 45:40Niall. He is doing a whole tour with
- 45:43Annihilation of the Wicked. For the first time, and maybe
- 45:46only time ever, he's going to sing and play those songs that
- 45:49he did when he was in Niall as the lead vocalist.
- 45:51And I'm I'm here for it. Dallas is great.
- 45:53I've interviewed him twice. Wonderful guy, met him in
- 45:56person. Killer.
- 45:57Super tall too. If you play guitar and you want
- 46:01to. Death metal shred like Dallas.
- 46:03Definitely look him up for Zoom. Zoom lessons, the addresses of
- 46:10love, Seeing the last members of Runaway do a tour with Joan and
- 46:13Lita. Barry the Hatchet.
- 46:14I think Cherie doesn't want to do it, and I think there's a lot
- 46:18of shit that the documentary and Jackie Fox's book kind of
- 46:24brought up that's bad. Shanker and Phoenix killer bro
- 46:27I'm. I'm hoping, we're hoping we're
- 46:29going to get Shankar. We did the very first.
- 46:32Bruce solo tour review. Very first show of America.
- 46:37My partner went out to LA for the weekend and did the show
- 46:40with the whiskey. We were put on the list.
- 46:41We photographed them. It was killer.
- 46:46And I'm he's already got like a whole record demo for the
- 46:48Mandrake project. Part 2.
- 46:50So that's cool. I do feel like as Bruce does
- 46:53more solo stuff, Maiden is probably going to slow down and
- 46:56stop, but that's again to kind of be expected.
- 47:00We'll be talking. We have something coming up real
- 47:01soon. And there it is, right on time.
- 47:04Nice talking to you, Badger. Nicole Mcbrain is teasing a big
- 47:09show on December 666. The number of the.
- 47:13Beast at his Rock'n'roll ribs in Florida and I know he's going to
- 47:17do like one of his Titanium Tarte shows where he plays All
- 47:20the All the Maiden. Classics I.
- 47:26Don't need to go to Florida. I mean, I want to go to Florida
- 47:29to go to his. Ribs place and maybe see his
- 47:31band play, but not that bad. You know I'm on the West.
- 47:33Coast now so. A little hard, but maybe he'll
- 47:36tour, I don't know, he says. He really can't tour.
- 47:39He. Also leaked his termination
- 47:41letter from Iron Maiden or his dismissal letter.
- 47:44Not that he was terminated. But he could retirement.
- 47:46Letter. Fucking wild.
- 47:50Should be wild. This one's cool.
- 47:52Cots Barn. With Dillinger 4 Homefront and
- 47:55Generation Suicida Suicida coming up in N1 Show sold out.
- 48:01Second show added by demand. Nice work.
- 48:05This is pretty cool. This is taking place in New York
- 48:07City soon as a benefit in mid-october.
- 48:09The All Star Jam 2A tribute show ranging from rock to death metal
- 48:14and everything in between. And I happen to know some of
- 48:16the. People involved in this.
- 48:19And it is. All sort of like All Star
- 48:22members from all the. Metal bands of New York City,
- 48:26and they're going to do. Meshuga, Opeth.
- 48:28Death Pool. Muse At the Gates, Incubus, SOD.
- 48:33Metallica, Ozzy Gojira, Alice In Chains.
- 48:37Sepultura, Corn King. Crimson Death Clock, Mastodon,
- 48:41Children Of Bodom, and more. Speaking of at the gates, we
- 48:47just kind of got news about Thomas Lindberg's cancer and and
- 48:52I'll talk about that next week or in another.
- 48:54Show but like that's some heavy. Shit.
- 48:56And again, go see your boys. I'm really hoping Deanna would
- 49:01have done some songs with Maiden in Europe.
- 49:03Yeah, they at least they met, did.
- 49:04You see that? Diano and Bruce met last summer
- 49:06and it was like, cool. And they were both cool.
- 49:09It was very nice. Last weekend the shows for
- 49:13Pantera and a Monomarth and King parent.
- 49:16We covered that tour reviews on our site Black Flag.
- 49:20Oh. Boy, I don't know, man.
- 49:21I don't know if I can support the Black Flag.
- 49:24Like, I love Mike vilely. He sounds just like Rollins and
- 49:28it's like Greg and some kids, and I appreciate that.
- 49:31If you've never seen Black Flag and you've never heard those
- 49:33songs live and you really love Greg, I could see it being
- 49:37worthwhile. To go but.
- 49:39I'll be honest. It doesn't feel, I'm not trying
- 49:43to harsh the girl singer or anything because she's good, but
- 49:46it's like it feels like he just hired a band of kids so they
- 49:50would listen to him and he didn't hire real established
- 49:54musicians on purpose. And if that's the case, that's
- 49:57fucking stupid. And I saw the video of them in
- 50:00Europe and it was bad, really bad.
- 50:03And I just saw them a year ago in LA.
- 50:06And they were fucking great. Anyway, sorry for my soapbox.
- 50:10Also. This looks cool. 3 Bad Jacks on
- 50:14another LA area show with the Adolescence and Resurrects and
- 50:18Battle Flask and a few other bands.
- 50:20That's pretty. Cool.
- 50:22Machine Head just wrapped up their European Tour.
- 50:24They're going to be doing festivals in the USI believe
- 50:27they're going to announce some more tour dates soon for next
- 50:29year. But they put out a statement
- 50:32kind of, hey, thanks for everybody on the tour.
- 50:35You know their lead. Guitarist how to go home because
- 50:36his. Dad is very sick.
- 50:37And Vogue. From Decapitated came out.
- 50:40Sometimes playing two shows in a day or flying back and forth and
- 50:44busing it to cut festivals. To catch up with machine.
- 50:47Head on their. Dates, so shout out to Vog and
- 50:50shout out to Machine Head for being very resilient and I think
- 50:54they're producer Zach Oren who's also in Darkness Everywhere, the
- 50:58melodic death metal band also. Came out and did a couple of
- 51:01shows. When Zogg?
- 51:02When Vogg could not make it Snoop.
- 51:04Voggy Vog, as we call them. The.
- 51:07Record Clients is getting a 20 20th anniversary vinyl release.
- 51:13I'm a huge red cord fan. I saw them a bunch of times when
- 51:17I lived in the Boston area. They are doing. 2.
- 51:20Shows one in their hometown of Boston and another in New York
- 51:24at the Brooklyn Monarch. The number. 12 looks like you.
- 51:28And vomit forth are going to open Kind of cool, kind of cool.
- 51:33This looks really cool. Youth Code King, Yosef who has a
- 51:36new album out, St. Sex who have two new albums out
- 51:39and I just interviewed them, and Insula Iscariot have the
- 51:43industrial worship tour for some industrial metal already kicked
- 51:47off in Seattle. Probably coming to your town in
- 51:49the next few weeks. Go check it out.
- 51:53Coven, as you may know. A lot of people came here
- 51:55because of our interview with Jinx Dawson of Coven.
- 51:57She invented the devil horns. Sorry, Geo.
- 52:00Sorry Gene Simmons. She they pioneered psychedelic
- 52:04rock and Stoner. Doom.
- 52:05Before anybody else, including Black Sabbath.
- 52:08Their first album is called Black Sabbath.
- 52:10They have a bass player called Ozzy Osbourne.
- 52:12All before Black Sabbath came out.
- 52:14But I love. Coven go check.
- 52:15Out our interview with Jinx. She's ageless and incredible.
- 52:19And they have announced that their upcoming South.
- 52:20American tour will all be recorded every show for an
- 52:24upcoming live album. I also know.
- 52:25For a fact that Coven has been working on a new EP or album.
- 52:30A lot of songs are in the can. I met somebody that got to
- 52:33contribute to the album and they gave me the scoop and I'm
- 52:36really. Excited about it.
- 52:37I also know that Jinx has long been working on her memoir,
- 52:41which will spill all the tea on Hollywood the day she does it.
- 52:45The day it drops, it's going to spill all the tea.
- 52:49I'm really proud of that interview with her.
- 52:50Also, just a reminder, Ghost Skeletor continues to be out.
- 52:54We ran our review this week from the Phoenix show.
- 52:57If you've seen the Ghost tour, let us know.
- 52:59I know you didn't have your phone.
- 53:01Because they shut off every, you know, they locked up everyone's
- 53:03phones. Joey's here.
- 53:04Rock and Stroll is here. Palekto has been here.
- 53:10Comic Jimmy is here, Scooter. Thanks buddy, I saw you there.
- 53:13On Graham also, very nice bro. Other tours going on.
- 53:20Acid Bath again, got a show this week.
- 53:22We're giving away ticks to show next week.
- 53:24They've got some more festivals and then they're going to do
- 53:26this arena show in New Orleans in mid.
- 53:30November Acid Bath, Mastodon, Power Trip, Amigo, the Devil,
- 53:33Soylent Green and Suplex. Oh my God, I wouldn't mind.
- 53:38A reminder about the pallbearer benefits show for Nathan
- 53:41Garrett's wife coming up soon next weekend as well.
- 53:44As their early September show in Seattle with Paul Bearer and
- 53:50Witch Ripper. Oh it's Paul Bearer and witch
- 53:53Ripper. Fear Factory continues to tour.
- 53:57They are kicking off their U.S. tour in about four weeks so get
- 54:02hype also also. John Bonham's Led Zeppelin
- 54:07Experience has added even more dates due to popular demand.
- 54:11Would love to go see that. This is just some fun.
- 54:14Megadeth will not be bringing all 748 members formally in the
- 54:19band on tour for their farewell here.
- 54:21I had a lot of people asked me this last week about Megadeth
- 54:24and I'll talk a little bit more about them again.
- 54:26I do not believe that junior Dave David Ellefson will be
- 54:29allowed back in the band. He's going to stick with
- 54:31Lumenzo. You might get Marty.
- 54:33At some shows, and I think that's about it.
- 54:37I don't think any other members are going to pop up and join
- 54:39Megadeth for anything but you know.
- 54:43Jeff Young is out there. Just a reminder again with the
- 54:46more than halfway point of the show.
- 54:48Thank you for supporting us. Feel free to.
- 54:50Drop us a tip. If you have not already or give
- 54:53us a super thanks or a super like and I will say that I am
- 54:56going to. I'm planning to again, we have
- 55:00memberships on YouTube now and I think what I'm going to do is
- 55:03I'm going to combine the YouTube memberships and our sub stack
- 55:06and if I can get some people to pay for.
- 55:10A. Subscription, even for a dollar.
- 55:13You know, a short amount of money per month.
- 55:15Let's say up from a. $0.99 to 666 per SE.
- 55:19I will do an extra live stream a week that is free and just for
- 55:25sub stack and YouTube subscribers so.
- 55:28I'm going to. Really drill down on this in the
- 55:31next week and launch it, but I just want you to know that
- 55:33that's coming and if you enjoy this content with me, you can
- 55:37get that experience. Just a reminder, and this is
- 55:41going to be hella cool. Fable Beard is one of our new
- 55:44affiliate partners. And I'm super stoked.
- 55:46You've heard me talk about them before.
- 55:47They just became affiliate partners with us in the last
- 55:50month. And I use the products we don't
- 55:53ever support. Anything we don't like or use?
- 55:56So I am currently sweating balls.
- 55:59But I don't smell because I have my Fable Beard deodorant on.
- 56:02It's all natural, it's not that expensive, and it comes in
- 56:06awesome packaging. And all their scents are modeled
- 56:10after like Dungeons and Dragons characters.
- 56:12There's a lure to every scent and story.
- 56:15So I happen to have here the deodorant, the little spray
- 56:18Cologne. And the beard wash this you want
- 56:20to have an awesome beard that like really beard is what their
- 56:23stuff. Is in their name.
- 56:24Fable beer code? Fable beer code.
- 56:27And that's what they're like main stuff.
- 56:29Is. These products so.
- 56:32Definitely help you help yourself and help out your own
- 56:36personal. Care they also have a fable
- 56:37beauty. Bit.
- 56:38Brand for all you lady head banners and so definitely check
- 56:43out Fable Beard Company. They're very aggressive on the
- 56:45marketing, which I like. They will text and e-mail you an
- 56:49awful lot, but they give a lot of sales and deals and they give
- 56:52away a box of stuff every month, $500 worth of stuff if you make
- 56:58a small purchase. So that's pretty cool.
- 57:01Gamble Beard company also also, you know, we're part of the Lamb
- 57:04Goat media network. Lamb.
- 57:05GOAT, the much meaner version of ghost cult and when you see ads
- 57:09on our website at ghostcultbad.com, that's through
- 57:11lamb goat. So just check them out.
- 57:13We are fans also also stream yard.
- 57:16Unfortunately for you at TikTok, everybody else is watching this
- 57:19on stream. Yard.
- 57:20If you want to stream like we do, use the link in our
- 57:23description. You get $10 off your
- 57:25subscription, we get $10 off our next bill in this door.
- 57:29Dutch door action supplication is passed by.
- 57:31Go fuck yourself. Punk is here.
- 57:34Brandon is here. Stormland is passed by.
- 57:37Hope you're doing good. You know Stormland, I'm OK.
- 57:40It's been a very tough week in the in the life of TV and the
- 57:46Mastodon news did not make me feel any better.
- 57:48It's been hard, I'm not going to lie.
- 57:53But I'm hanging in there. Thank you.
- 57:56We're almost we're getting through the show.
- 58:00Just a reminder, besides stream Yard, you're watching this on
- 58:02Twitch, we're on Threads, we're on Blue Sky, we're on Twitter
- 58:07still somehow on Instagram, YouTube, obviously.
- 58:11So like, you know, if you're on social media and you don't hate
- 58:14it yet, feel free to check it out.
- 58:17Let's see what else is going on in the world.
- 58:19It's time for the rest of the news.
- 58:20Let's blast through this shit also happening in the world.
- 58:24Obviously we're talking a lot about the Brent from Mastodon.
- 58:26So sad. Everybody is sharing their
- 58:29photos and I shared a photo of mine that I took of Brent
- 58:32earlier when I was doing concert.
- 58:33Photography about 15 years ago. I have seen Mastodon countless
- 58:37times. I saw Mastodon.
- 58:38Before they were really famous on the very first band tour,
- 58:43they were opening for Dan Lilker's band Total Fucking
- 58:46Destruction. At.
- 58:47Castle Heights in Queens, where I'm from in New York.
- 58:50City. And they got up there and like
- 58:53no one knew their songs. They were just an opening band
- 58:55and they were on tour in their van and they were fucking rad.
- 58:58They were heavy and they were interesting and they had great
- 59:01griffs and insane drumming. And I remember Brent just.
- 59:05Looked fucking wild I hadn't even seen.
- 59:07Anybody that wasn't a punk? So tatted up like he was with
- 59:10his. Wild fucking hair and his
- 59:12maniacal grin and he was an incredible guitar player, man.
- 59:16Like I, you know, I know that he had a lot of acrimony with the
- 59:19guys, but like, you know, we're never going to get to get that
- 59:23reunion now, but it was nice to see the world and again,
- 59:26whenever we lose somebody beloved.
- 59:28It's nice to see. Everybody come together and try
- 59:31to, you know, show some love. So I'm very heartbroken about
- 59:35this death. And Mastodon put out a
- 59:39statement. And you know.
- 59:41It sucks. It sucks kind of Dr. Safer
- 59:45people because he was not doing anything.
- 59:47Wrong. Was he they?
- 59:48Didn't yield for him. He had the.
- 59:49Right of way. Fucking terrible Ozzy.
- 59:54This is interesting news. There was supposed to be a
- 59:56documentary Monday night on the BBC about Ozzy's life,
- 1:00:01especially the last few years, and then it was pulled at the
- 1:00:04last minute and they didn't show it.
- 1:00:06We don't know why. It's a lot of people speculating
- 1:00:09that they wanted to add more material about the end of his
- 1:00:12life, but like, very strange. Timing to just pull it at the
- 1:00:16end, right? Before it was supposed to go.
- 1:00:18So there you have it. But we'll keep you posted on
- 1:00:22more. Goings from Ozzy, maybe some
- 1:00:25more Ozzy stuff later in the show.
- 1:00:27Just a reminder, last week Megadeth announced that they
- 1:00:29are. Calling it a day next year,
- 1:00:31final album final. Tour And like I said, I gigged
- 1:00:34on them a little bit with that meme.
- 1:00:36But you know, I think Dave gave a little extra context to why
- 1:00:42they're hanging it up. And like a lot of bands don't
- 1:00:45get to go out on their own terms.
- 1:00:46We just saw Brent had a lot of tours book with his other bands,
- 1:00:50Fiend Without a Face in West End Motel and you know, yet they he
- 1:00:56was like a lot of bands don't get to go.
- 1:00:57Out on their own terms, their way, and he wants to go out his
- 1:01:01way instead of being forced to retire.
- 1:01:04So I respect them much. Respect.
- 1:01:09Also the big story of the week is Deftones new album Private
- 1:01:12Music comes out this week. They held listening sessions.
- 1:01:15All over the country, all over the world where they and fans
- 1:01:21come in and they gave swag away. You couldn't record it, your
- 1:01:25phone was locked up. But they had little eye patches
- 1:01:28like night masks and blankies for everybody.
- 1:01:31And they turned all the lights out and they wanted you to just
- 1:01:33listen to the whole album. Anson Banger from what I've been
- 1:01:37told are review is up on the site and it's the most read
- 1:01:41album review we've shared all year out of like 350 reviews.
- 1:01:44So obviously the demand and the interest in Deftones was high.
- 1:01:48Very grateful for anybody that discovered our website as a
- 1:01:51result of this. Our writer Majin Brutomeso did
- 1:01:54an incredible. Job.
- 1:01:56And yeah, like again, I hope to bring a live stream review of
- 1:01:59the Deftones. Album to you all tomorrow
- 1:02:02similar to the one I did last. Week for the new Insight album.
- 1:02:06There's a staff with the album. They gave away little pins with
- 1:02:09that private music logo and so very interested to see how
- 1:02:13Deftones will do as they play more of this music live.
- 1:02:17Wake basis pass by Eric 68 is here.
- 1:02:21Not a whole lot going on in Metallica.
- 1:02:23They are playing their intimate New York City show a week from
- 1:02:27tonight as they launch. Maximum Metallica Radio on
- 1:02:32SiriusXM so. Stay tuned for that.
- 1:02:35I know they're giving away some tickets with their fan diem and
- 1:02:38they're all within my hands foundation.
- 1:02:41You could win. Tickets to theoretically go to
- 1:02:43New York and watch. Them with 100 people, I know at
- 1:02:46least one person that is going to the show.
- 1:02:49So yeah, man, enjoy that. Enjoy that if I look a.
- 1:02:54Little too dark here. Screen.
- 1:02:58Testament today drop the brand new single infanticide AI.
- 1:03:03Along with their upcoming new album announcement for their
- 1:03:07album Parabellum on Nuclear Blast Records, I'm a.
- 1:03:11Huge huge Testament fan, as I'm sure you are too if you're
- 1:03:15watching this and. I'm very excited to hear that.
- 1:03:18You know, the new track was scorching.
- 1:03:20That's the first of new. Track.
- 1:03:22I think they did. A cover but it's the first all
- 1:03:24new track with their new drummer Chris Dovas who's awesome.
- 1:03:30Stormland that says that Testament single was pretty
- 1:03:32dope. That's one they've done since
- 1:03:34Native. Blood, you know, Testament's
- 1:03:35very consistent man. They don't really have a bad
- 1:03:37album. I talked about like albums
- 1:03:41celebrating an anniversary this week.
- 1:03:42No shade on Exodus. So we had a lot of problems
- 1:03:45along the way. It's why they're not a bigger
- 1:03:46band but like. All the bands.
- 1:03:49Tried to be like. Grunge and get softer in the and
- 1:03:52black album friendly in the 90s and slay.
- 1:03:56Sorry, Testament went death metal with with demonic right
- 1:04:00and then the gathering, which was like more like thrashy,
- 1:04:04aggressive death metal. So like, you know, respect the
- 1:04:07testament for just doing it so well for so long.
- 1:04:10I'm I will probably get an interview with Eric Skolnick or
- 1:04:14Chuck once again, and I'm very honored to have talked to all of
- 1:04:17them. Ellis Skolnick was actually my
- 1:04:19very first interview for the Ghost Cult podcast, which also
- 1:04:23included Trevor Sternod of the Black doggy murder arrests in
- 1:04:26power. Not as bad or as over long.
- 1:04:29There's something to be said for keeping your songs up for
- 1:04:32minutes. I hear you, I hear you and I
- 1:04:34feel that. Also this week, Speaking of
- 1:04:38Pantera and and Diamond Daryl, whose birthday would have been
- 1:04:41yesterday. Super.
- 1:04:43Seven has announced a diabetic Daryl figure.
- 1:04:46I will say one thing, it looks pretty cool.
- 1:04:48I'm I saw Daryl in person many times, I saw Pantera many times.
- 1:04:52I saw a damage plan the week before Daryl was murdered.
- 1:04:55I would have liked it to be smiling.
- 1:04:57I just feel like Daryl was he is rocking the rocking the culprit
- 1:05:01guitar, which is a choice right? Not the dime bolt or any of the
- 1:05:04newer ones. But I was going to say like he
- 1:05:07really, they should have put him with a smile on his face.
- 1:05:10That's just my thought. You know Cliff Burton is raging.
- 1:05:14Lemmy is just fucking stoic. Like always stoic Lemmy, but
- 1:05:19like Dimebang was always smiling.
- 1:05:21He didn't look as mean as as, you know, he.
- 1:05:23Could all the time just say it, Just say it, just say it.
- 1:05:27Captain Kevlar is here. Big bass.
- 1:05:30What up? What up?
- 1:05:32So yeah, that's the packaging. Looks pretty fucking.
- 1:05:34Cool. Artist rendition, pretty nice.
- 1:05:40Bio hasn't dropped the new song Eyes on 6, their new albums
- 1:05:43coming up in October. I'm super stoked.
- 1:05:45Stay tuned, we are going to have an interview.
- 1:05:47Soon with Billy and or Evan, you know, those are homies of ours
- 1:05:51from back in New York and I'm looking forward to hearing this
- 1:05:54entire record and then hanging out with the guys to chop it up.
- 1:05:58Gore is doing a live stream this weekend on Veeps celebrating 40
- 1:06:02years live from the Hellmouth. Gore has a new multimedia
- 1:06:06release out. The return of Gore Gore.
- 1:06:08Which is a comic book, a graphic novel, A.
- 1:06:10Vinyl all the things. Merch, go check it out.
- 1:06:16I'm very excited to see Gore pay tribute to their entire history,
- 1:06:19not just the new album and the hits.
- 1:06:23Motherless is a new band. I think I talked a little bit
- 1:06:26about this a couple of weeks ago.
- 1:06:27I knew this was coming. Motherless is a super group of
- 1:06:30underground sludge and doom metal artists from Chicago led
- 1:06:35by Stavros from the Atlas Moth. Everyone knows what a huge fan.
- 1:06:39Of the Atlas moth I am. This fucking clown is upsetting
- 1:06:42me. I'm sure this is like mini golf
- 1:06:44in Chicago or thereabouts. I don't know why.
- 1:06:47Clowns just don't do it for me. They fucking stress me out.
- 1:06:50But Motherless brand new album coming.
- 1:06:52First singles killer. Go check out this band.
- 1:06:55If you like. Similar bands again, I mentioned
- 1:06:58Neurosis earlier. It's always kind of Melvin's
- 1:07:01Neurosis related. You might dig them.
- 1:07:04Are you a fan of the Toxic? Avenger movies?
- 1:07:07Do you know Trauma Studios? I'm a huge fan of this stuff.
- 1:07:11There is a new Toxic Avenger movie and I and generally knew
- 1:07:14it was coming out and I wasn't sure when.
- 1:07:18So Toxic Avenger new album, new movie comes out at the end of
- 1:07:21the month starring Peter Dinklage as the Toxic Avenger as
- 1:07:24well as Kevin Bacon and Elijah Wood and Toxic Avenger the movie
- 1:07:30and Liquid Death teamed up for a new ad.
- 1:07:34Talking about how Toxic Soda is super smart and brilliant.
- 1:07:38Hilariously funny. You can watch the red band
- 1:07:40trailer at our post on the website about this and I'm just
- 1:07:45absolutely tickled. I'm going to say I was very
- 1:07:47skeptical about a new Toxic Avenger movie it is in.
- 1:07:50Tribute to the. Original.
- 1:07:52It is done with the permission of trauma.
- 1:07:55Hey Tyler, what's up? We're doing our rock and metal
- 1:07:57news show talking about the Toxic Avenger movie and the
- 1:08:01heavy metal collab between Toxic Avenger and Liquid Deck.
- 1:08:05There's some hard rocking metal in there in the advertisement
- 1:08:09and now I wasn't going to be too into it, but now I'm like.
- 1:08:13After I saw the red band trailer for this toxic.
- 1:08:15Avenger movie, I'm all in. I love Peter Dinklage.
- 1:08:18I love Game of Thrones. Did you know that?
- 1:08:20Peter Dinklage. Used to have.
- 1:08:21A punk rock band in the 80s and 90s, he was the lead singer of a
- 1:08:24punk rock. Band in New York.
- 1:08:26So very cool. Good to see you, Tyler.
- 1:08:29Let's see if anybody else has jumped on the gram 2 Halloween
- 1:08:35masks also passed by. Very good, very good, very good.
- 1:08:39This is Cosmic Reaper. I interviewed these guys.
- 1:08:43They are streaming their brand new album out this week on Heavy
- 1:08:46Psych Sounds A. Label that I love a.
- 1:08:48Great deal if you love Stoner rock and psychedelic rock and
- 1:08:51doom and such a cool, fun band from Charlotte, NC You know, not
- 1:08:56every plate, not every band is from New York, LA and Chicago.
- 1:08:59A lot of bands come from other places.
- 1:09:01This is Tombs from Brooklyn. They have a new album announced
- 1:09:06on Season of Mist. I'm super stoked.
- 1:09:08Homeboy at the front looks like Neil Fallon's long lost son.
- 1:09:11Yeah. For sure.
- 1:09:13And then, yeah, here's tombs with their new.
- 1:09:15Album. Let's see if I have the.
- 1:09:19Details Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo.
- 1:09:22Doo Doo Doo. Tombs, the second single out of
- 1:09:27their new full length album Feral Darkness, is the album.
- 1:09:31Oh, it's coming out and redefining darkness.
- 1:09:32Excuse me, they left season emits and this new track is
- 1:09:35called The Sunsets. October 17th is going to be a
- 1:09:38major. Day for releases in the fall.
- 1:09:40Get ready. Also, here's Fallujah.
- 1:09:45They put out a Meshuga theme song.
- 1:09:48I'm wondering where Fallujah took this photo because they're
- 1:09:51from the Bay Area. And as we were talking about at
- 1:09:53the top of the show, it's. Boiling.
- 1:09:54Hot here, did they? Shoot this in like Lake Tahoe.
- 1:09:57In the winter when there's snow and they took their jackets off
- 1:09:59to look hard. I love Fallujah, they're a
- 1:10:01killer man. But it's pretty funny that this
- 1:10:04photo. Exists also the Devil Wears
- 1:10:07Prada announced their new album Flowers.
- 1:10:10They put a new single out today so pre-orders are live on that
- 1:10:13record. If you're into the metal core,
- 1:10:16Lipris. Led by the basically.
- 1:10:19Backing band of Eson from Emperor has put out a cover and
- 1:10:22unironic cover of Take On Me by Aha.
- 1:10:25I'm not going to attempt to try to sing it, but they can.
- 1:10:29I couldn't. Here is Mastiff, one of my
- 1:10:34favorite bands. We interviewed them a year ago
- 1:10:36about their last record and they have announced their new album
- 1:10:39is coming out on. Church Road, a new EP.
- 1:10:42Coming out from them, a story behind every light is the new
- 1:10:46single and the EP is called for All dead.
- 1:10:48Dreams via our friends at Church Road Records who I am overdue
- 1:10:52for another interview and Pines. Joe Clayton produced the album
- 1:10:57which is dope or the EP. So very very cool news from
- 1:11:02Mastiff. Lots of UK filters out there,
- 1:11:05Great bands, just some chart action.
- 1:11:08I don't do a lot of this but like it was of note notable.
- 1:11:12If you love black metal, that black braid is all the
- 1:11:16Billboard. Charts in several places.
- 1:11:19The emerging artist charts 18. Top current album sales 44.
- 1:11:23Ken Pierce is here. What's up, Ken?
- 1:11:25One of my best friends in the world.
- 1:11:26How are you doing, buddy? Sorry we didn't get to connect
- 1:11:28again this week and it's been a time, my friend.
- 1:11:31It's been a time. But black.
- 1:11:33Braid. Shout out to their entire, you
- 1:11:35know, black braid Tenzin. Lee unaffiliated with labels DIY
- 1:11:40till they die. They have major PR, they have
- 1:11:42major marketing, but they do not have a label and they never will
- 1:11:46possibly. And you know, it's a big deal to
- 1:11:49get on the charts in the US and the UK and iTunes without a real
- 1:11:53label behind you. So incredible, incredible stuff.
- 1:11:58And then on the other end of the spectrum, Babymetal also is like
- 1:12:02a top ten album in a lot of countries.
- 1:12:04So just shout out to them. Obviously Japan 9 in the USA
- 1:12:10across the board. Metalforth is their new album
- 1:12:12out now I've. Listened to it, it's pretty
- 1:12:13harsh. They've got a lot of great guest
- 1:12:15appearances by Spirit Box and a bunch of other bands.
- 1:12:18They have a feel good story and a whole.
- 1:12:20Week of fitness and hard things going on.
- 1:12:24This is an absolute feel good story.
- 1:12:26So Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless was on tour.
- 1:12:30Opening. For ACDC in Europe.
- 1:12:32And what she does is for her, when she tours, she brings this
- 1:12:35stuffed cat with her that she has had since childhood.
- 1:12:38It's kind of like. Her comfort animal, like it's
- 1:12:42her emotional support doll and it was falling apart, just
- 1:12:47falling apart. And when she was performing?
- 1:12:50ACDC had their like tour seamstress or clothing, you know
- 1:12:54costumer sew up her doll professionally with a note that
- 1:12:58they left for her in her dressing room and said hey.
- 1:13:00Taylor we saw your stuffed cat is seen better days.
- 1:13:04We patched it up for you. Hope that's OK.
- 1:13:06And so she posted this photo of like that.
- 1:13:08She could not believe that they did this.
- 1:13:10So, you know, it's cool to hear, you know, a lot of times you're
- 1:13:14about. This band is a Dick to me.
- 1:13:15And that band is a Dick. But it's nice to hear when
- 1:13:18people are nice, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:13:21Gary Oldman gave an interview this week that he said the
- 1:13:24entire world has gone to shit since Bowie died.
- 1:13:27I can't say that I deny that or doubt it.
- 1:13:29I will say that I had been quoted that the world had gone
- 1:13:33to shit since Slayer retired in 2019.
- 1:13:36And then when they came back, they used that quote of mine.
- 1:13:38I thought that was pretty funny. Also, if you like pop stars,
- 1:13:43Billy Eilish apparently likes the Mars Volta.
- 1:13:45Stranger things have happened. Here's an Instagram post she
- 1:13:48made of her with the Mars Volta song.
- 1:13:51She loves the band apparently. Very cool.
- 1:13:55Guiltless is going on tour. Looks like they're already
- 1:13:57working on their next EP, which we interviewed them about last
- 1:14:01week. From The Current has a new show
- 1:14:02coming up with close Enemies of the Band with Tom Hamilton of
- 1:14:08Aerosmith. Tom Morello's Fuck Ice playlist
- 1:14:11is on Spotify and a lot of people were in the comments
- 1:14:14about Raging for the Machine if you're supporting Spotify.
- 1:14:18And Speaking of Tom Morello, what in the Kentucky Fried fuck
- 1:14:21is this photo? This is a recent photo of Tom
- 1:14:26Morello and he is in this photo with Ke$ha Alice Cooper.
- 1:14:30Paul. Stanley.
- 1:14:31TH Marin and Rob Zombie. I don't know what the.
- 1:14:34Fuck is going on here? But Oh my God, what?
- 1:14:37Band would this be? Maybe that's a question for all
- 1:14:41of you. Kitty has dropped the new single
- 1:14:44in video. For a reimagining, a heavy,
- 1:14:48brutal reimagining of their song Spit, they're putting out an EP
- 1:14:51celebrating their. Spit 25th anniversary of their
- 1:14:54album went back in the studio with Garth Richardson who
- 1:14:57produced the original Spit when they were kids.
- 1:15:00Very cool to see Kitty honoring their history.
- 1:15:02Kitty album fire out last year on Sumerian Records and I
- 1:15:06believe Sumerian has also got the rights to put out Spit.
- 1:15:10In case you didn't know, No Life to Leather is a new tribute
- 1:15:13album to Metallica's debut album Kill Them All.
- 1:15:16Don't know why it's called No Life to Leather when that was
- 1:15:18before Kill Them All, but pretty cool.
- 1:15:21The Almighty, featuring Ricky Warwick of Thin Lizzy, was on
- 1:15:25the lead single. You get songs from Raven Saxon,
- 1:15:29sewing, David Ellefson doing anesthesia, pulling teeth, and
- 1:15:34many more. So that looks kind of cool.
- 1:15:38Few more things in the news section.
- 1:15:40Long show tonight. Wolfpark has got a new single
- 1:15:43out there, dropping a new EP soon.
- 1:15:45Killer band from Finland. One of the best bands to do it.
- 1:15:48Personal friend of mine and high school buddy of mine, a.
- 1:15:51Yoshira Yoda, who is a world renowned artist.
- 1:15:54Is putting out a new album with his heavy metal band Maltese.
- 1:15:57Falcon which is coming soon. He just celebrated a birthday
- 1:16:00this week. Also shout out to my boy.
- 1:16:03Just a thing. Madonna is not a person I often
- 1:16:06find myself talking about. I love Madonna's music.
- 1:16:08Madonna got a lifetime award, a lifetime achievement award from
- 1:16:12Billboard, and she just set the. Fucking music industry on fire.
- 1:16:17I'm not going to go read it now, but if you're interested and
- 1:16:20you're going to have a band and you're trying to make it and
- 1:16:23you've ever thought about your place in the world where your
- 1:16:26music is a commodity. Check out Madonna's speech
- 1:16:29because it is fucking fire. And a lot of other things like.
- 1:16:36Political activism. You know what New York was like
- 1:16:40when she arrived in New York City as a teenager in 1979?
- 1:16:43Amazing shit. I'm very proud of her.
- 1:16:46Very good. Shit.
- 1:16:47All right, that's all the news and everything I wanted to talk
- 1:16:50about. Now it's time to discuss New
- 1:16:53Music Friday, new albums out this week, and there are a
- 1:16:56fucking butt ton, so I'm going to read these off to you.

- 1:21:35Me too. So what's in the mailbag this
- 1:21:41week, man? I got a few.
- 1:21:42Cool, fun things. I'm here at the.
- 1:21:44Girlfriends and she bought me a gift a few weeks back.
- 1:21:49After, back to the. Beginning I know Ozzy was
- 1:21:52selling these bats. Look at this guy.
- 1:21:55Look at these. Bats that they have Ozzy
- 1:21:56Osbourne on the belly. Obviously I got this and had
- 1:21:59this before I knew Ozzy was going to pass on it.
- 1:22:02And you know, hey. Pads is here.
- 1:22:04What's up brother? Good to see you.
- 1:22:05We were talking earlier, this is a Aussie bat that was bought for
- 1:22:10me. I'm going to light him up a
- 1:22:11little bit so you can see him a little better.
- 1:22:14Look at this Aussie bat and this light is so dim.
- 1:22:18There we go. That's a little better, hey?
- 1:22:20I'm not in witness. Protection.
- 1:22:21So look at this guy, right? Check this out.
- 1:22:23This is so awesome. Yeah, I hear you Storm land my I
- 1:22:27hope you also have a great weekend.
- 1:22:29Thank you so much for your wishes.
- 1:22:30So check this bat out. She bought me this bat.
- 1:22:32And it's like a fun thing to have.
- 1:22:34You can bite the head off this bat.
- 1:22:36As you know. Ozzy bit the head off a bat that
- 1:22:37was thrown on stage. He had to get rabies shots.
- 1:22:40Check this out. It comes off with Velcro.
- 1:22:46How awesome is this? I love Ozzy.
- 1:22:48This is hilarious. I think it's great.
- 1:22:51And then you can stick them back on just like that, blah blah
- 1:22:53blah. I wouldn't know if.
- 1:22:56This is sturdy enough to be a pet toy, but I'm sure some dogs
- 1:22:59or cats would fuck this shit up royally.
- 1:23:04So there's that. And then the second.
- 1:23:05Thing I have this week. To show, you know, a lot of
- 1:23:09people, last week I showed off some of my Super 7 collection,
- 1:23:12and this week I wanted to talk about Funko.
- 1:23:14And again, these toy companies mean a lot to me.
- 1:23:17We've covered some conventions like New York.
- 1:23:19Comic Con in the past and San Diego Comic Con and things and
- 1:23:24spooky empire and stuff. So I love toys and I have quite
- 1:23:27a collection of toys and things and.
- 1:23:30We were up at the mall here. Where I'm at visiting my.
- 1:23:33Girlfriend. And we came into this store that
- 1:23:36has a lot of toys and collectibles and I got to.
- 1:23:39Add some things to my Funko collection.
- 1:23:41So I'm going to show off and unbox these two.
- 1:23:44Special Funkos, they were on sale.
- 1:23:46Because I think they were having kind of a liquidation sale at
- 1:23:48the. Store make room for more stock.
- 1:23:51Because that's the deal when you have Funkos, they take up space.
- 1:23:55So the first. 1. Is Jean Luc Picard, and he is
- 1:23:59being. If you can see carefully on the
- 1:24:01screen, he's being. Beamed up in the transporter
- 1:24:04room. Maybe not such a good view on
- 1:24:06the stream yard stream, but I'll take him out and unbox him and
- 1:24:10he's doing the like what the fuck Jean Luc Picard hand.
- 1:24:14Like I can't believe this bullshit I love it so much.
- 1:24:18So I'm going to unbox this guy and he's on a little transporter
- 1:24:28thing. Which looks pretty realistic,
- 1:24:30I'll be honest. Like energized?
- 1:24:36You know the sound that it makes.
- 1:24:37I'm not good as I'm not as good as sound effects as I am voices.
- 1:24:40So here's Jean Luc Pecan again. He looks pretty, you know, for a
- 1:24:44Funko, pretty realistic. And then this other one just
- 1:24:48tickled all my funny bones they had.
- 1:24:49Bounty Hunter's Collection from. Star Wars.
- 1:24:51So here's Bosk and Bosk. Is one of my.
- 1:24:53Favorite toys from Empire Strikes Back?
- 1:24:56Still my favorite Star Wars movie.
- 1:24:58Of all time and I got to figure out how to.
- 1:25:01Open this. I think he opens from the side.
- 1:25:04Not sure like adult proof sealed against your protection.
- 1:25:09Oh there, it's from the top. So bask all these bounty hunters
- 1:25:15come in like a little cool extra collectible case.
- 1:25:19This big ass case. I.
- 1:25:26See, kind of like he's on like a little.
- 1:25:32Mounted thing here. And he came with a gun.
- 1:25:35That's cool. Oh yes, he also kind of looks
- 1:25:38like Gorn. From Star Star Trek, right?
- 1:25:44So he's on this little thing I think is supposed to imitate.
- 1:25:47The look of the the bounty hunters on Darth Vader.
- 1:25:54Ship right? This is Empire Strikes Back, and
- 1:25:58he's got his little blaster and his crazy teeth.
- 1:26:03Pretty fucking cool. So I am both Star Trek and Star.
- 1:26:06Wars whenever I can. Be and probably a little bit
- 1:26:10more Star Wars than Star Trek in my life, but I love both.
- 1:26:14Honestly, full stop. But anyway, that's a little bit
- 1:26:18more. Added to my collection and that
- 1:26:20is our show. What a week it has been.
- 1:26:24Again. I have to be honest, it has been
- 1:26:25a brutal time and you know I'm not doing too great, but I hope
- 1:26:31you all are. Go have a good weekend.
- 1:26:34Go see your favorite bands when they come.
- 1:26:36Around don't say next time if you can afford it, go support
- 1:26:40bands if you can. And you know, as I say every
- 1:26:43week at this juncture to the show, it's a tough.
- 1:26:45Time in the. World so please take care of
- 1:26:46each other, take care of yourselves and stay as metal as
- 1:26:50humanly possible. Don't drink and drive.
