- 0:00Speaker 1: I gotta tell y'all, we're excited to have her in
- 0:02Speaker 1: here because the show last night, she apparently shaved her
- 0:06Speaker 1: mustache already. That thing came out quick and.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yeah, what what?
- 0:12Speaker 1: So you're you're doing the tour with Riley right now?
- 0:15Speaker 1: It looks like from people's social videos, you all are
- 0:18Speaker 1: having the time of your lives.
- 0:20Speaker 2: We're not boring people.
- 0:21Speaker 1: What made you pull do the mustache deal last night?
- 0:24Speaker 1: Or have you been doing that? Well?
- 0:25Speaker 2: I don't know if you've noticed, but Riley has a mustache.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I prefer when he took it off.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Yeah, well this has been a thing for a minute.
- 0:34Speaker 2: So I bought two hundred and fifty mustaches at the
- 0:38Speaker 2: beginning of tour.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Amazon.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Of course, it's up Amazon, plug me up. You know
- 0:44Speaker 2: what I mean, right hall the fake mustache plugs. But
- 0:48Speaker 2: I bought two hundred and fifty of them, and I
- 0:50Speaker 2: told him. I was like, I have a trick I'm
- 0:53Speaker 2: gonna do later we shook hands on prank Wars. Because
- 0:56Speaker 2: this is our second tour together. I'm like, we gotta
- 0:58Speaker 2: gotta amp it up boring around here, let's spice it
- 1:01Speaker 2: up a little. So anyways, last night, I don't know
- 1:04Speaker 2: why I had the inkling that that was the night
- 1:05Speaker 2: I was gonna do the mustache bit, And so then
- 1:07Speaker 2: I threw all the mustaches out, like I was literally
- 1:10Speaker 2: just like.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It's rain and man hallelujah.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Or like that. You know, yeah, like that too, and
- 1:17Speaker 2: anyway you want it, really, anyway.
- 1:19Speaker 1: You want it, let's just think through the interview.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yeah that's all I do for a living. But anyway,
- 1:27Speaker 2: so yeah, I threw all the mustaches out. And then
- 1:29Speaker 2: what was so funny is so I had to go
- 1:34Speaker 2: up there for the game to a show because I
- 1:35Speaker 2: want to see how many people put the mustaches on.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Like I was really encouraging the crowd throw out my
- 1:39Speaker 2: show to like put them on, but like save it
- 1:40Speaker 2: because they get sweaty and they're gonna fall down, Like
- 1:43Speaker 2: save it for the when he walks out there, and
- 1:46Speaker 2: so before the show started, his intro tracks going, and
- 1:49Speaker 2: I'll like lean out where just the fan the pit
- 1:52Speaker 2: can see me, and I'm like put him on. Like
- 1:55Speaker 2: I'm like put him on, and all these girls start
- 1:59Speaker 2: like putting their mustache. Shazon man are putting mustaches over
- 2:01Speaker 2: their mustaches. So Ralegh gets some of it. This his
- 2:07Speaker 2: first song. He's kind of looking out in the crowd,
- 2:10Speaker 2: like I don't know if he notices yet, literally, like
- 2:15Speaker 2: the whole pit is mustaches. And he starts pointing, laughing,
- 2:18Speaker 2: and he looks back at me and he looks me
- 2:20Speaker 2: and he just catches me in the eye and I'm
- 2:22Speaker 2: look him dead, asking the eye with no.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I'll tell you this tour. Maybe the end prank is
- 2:33Speaker 1: you have a mustache tattoo. You get a mustache tattoo.
- 2:35Speaker 1: That's too far, too far, my bad. I'm a back up.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I'm a backup a minute. What's this tour bit?
- 2:41Speaker 2: What's this bit? Like?
- 2:42Speaker 1: Hang on? I was offensive? Were but you're not afraid
- 2:48Speaker 1: of tattoos? You have a few.
- 2:49Speaker 2: No, I'm definitely afraid of him. I hate them all
- 2:51Speaker 2: the much. That's why I have this giant asked tequila tattoo.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Me does that sick? It is? It's awesome?
- 2:58Speaker 1: Let me ask uh? And And I wasn't an asse this,
- 3:01Speaker 1: but you said your mom's here, and we don't get
- 3:03Speaker 1: it doesn't turn into family affair every now and again
- 3:06Speaker 1: in here. So we're glad your mother said, I want
- 3:08Speaker 1: to ask what's Mom's least favorite tattoo? And you can't
- 3:09Speaker 1: say all of them.
- 3:10Speaker 2: No, she does not hate my tattoos. My mom has tattoos.
- 3:13Speaker 2: My mom's a cool mom. Oh okay, she was like hippie,
- 3:17Speaker 2: had half her head shaved the other blue. When she
- 3:20Speaker 2: was younger, she's kind of rebellious. Mom's from Michigan, so
- 3:23Speaker 2: she's like spunky and you know, cool. I don't know.
- 3:28Speaker 2: So she was like every time I got a tattoo,
- 3:29Speaker 2: she's like, I love it. My dad's like, what's wrong
- 3:32Speaker 2: with you? Why? What if you wanted to teach Sunday school?
- 3:37Speaker 2: And I was like, well, yes, God would let me.
- 3:39Speaker 2: If I have tattoos, I would burn it down. I
- 3:42Speaker 2: was kind of making a joke one time. He did
- 3:43Speaker 2: say something it's kind of offensive. Not really, it's just
- 3:47Speaker 2: kind of crass. My dad when he's angry, like I'm
- 3:51Speaker 2: pretty sure he uses like the most extreme version of
- 3:54Speaker 2: hyperbole that he can to make me giggle, which then
- 3:58Speaker 2: pisses him off more. And he's been doing it since
- 4:00Speaker 2: I was a kid. I got a couple of spankings
- 4:02Speaker 2: because of that, no doubt, because you get you laugh
- 4:04Speaker 2: when your dad's getting mad at you and he's like
- 4:06Speaker 2: you over ring your damn it. Anyways, that's why i'm
- 4:10Speaker 2: you know, tough these days and got a good sense
- 4:12Speaker 2: of humor. Any whosel So my dad when he's like,
- 4:17Speaker 2: gave me a rule. He's like, Ella, when you leave
- 4:19Speaker 2: the house, do not get tattoos. And I did immediately,
- 4:23Speaker 2: And then I think when I got this bumblebee, which
- 4:25Speaker 2: I got for.
- 4:26Speaker 1: My mom, Actually, is that the first one ever?
- 4:28Speaker 2: Right there? No, the first one was this trouble clef.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I got it, I'm pretty sure two months after I
- 4:33Speaker 2: left the house. And then I got this one like
- 4:38Speaker 2: a year later. And then I got into my band,
- 4:41Speaker 2: started to have a bunch of guys with tattoos, and
- 4:43Speaker 2: then you know, co.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Wetzel, he's not the best influence for something.
- 4:48Speaker 2: No, no flash tats everywhere. That's the tequila shot. That's
- 4:51Speaker 2: his full. My dad was like, Ella, yeah, yeah, you
- 4:55Speaker 2: know what, why don't you just you know what, let's
- 4:58Speaker 2: just tattoo ball sack right on your flour? How about
- 5:00Speaker 2: how about that? How about that? Whyn't you just do
- 5:04Speaker 2: it all the way? Go all the way?
- 5:05Speaker 1: Your reply was.
- 5:07Speaker 2: And I said, Dan, I'm pretty sure a bumblebee in
- 5:09Speaker 2: a ballsack is much different. But if that's how you're
- 5:13Speaker 2: trying to explain to me that you don't like what
- 5:14Speaker 2: I did. I can understand, but I can assure you
- 5:18Speaker 2: I will not get a ballsack on one for it.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I tell you something I'm very proud of in this moment.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I've been on the radio for twenty two years. All right,
- 5:27Speaker 1: I've done I'm not bleeping it out. But here's the deal.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I've done a lot of interviews guys and girls. No
- 5:35Speaker 1: one's ever said ball sack like this is something I'm
- 5:39Speaker 1: gonna we're gonna have. We're gonna get a plaque put on.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Damn, I'm kind of tired.
- 5:44Speaker 1: At four oh three pm on June twentieth, Ella Langley said,
- 5:48Speaker 1: pointing at right, I'm looking at a clock. We're gonna
- 5:51Speaker 1: put a plaque on the wall.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Oh okay, I'm scared. People don't forget about that.
- 5:56Speaker 1: No, we're never gonna forget when Ella Langley said.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Balls all right, I say that real life. I actually
- 6:01Speaker 2: think I have a video of it on TikTok so
- 6:04Speaker 2: I explained that story.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Well, okay, well, I'm sure we'll clip this and tell you.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I can't wait. I'm sure it wasn't seen enough, you know,
- 6:10Speaker 2: why not bring it on back?
- 6:12Speaker 1: Uh? What is the toughest part about about having a
- 6:16Speaker 1: life when it comes to social media? Because now that
- 6:19Speaker 1: the mustache deal with the show last night, I saw
- 6:23Speaker 1: on social media, right, if a fan runs into you
- 6:26Speaker 1: at Kroger, they're recording or taking a picture, right, So,
- 6:30Speaker 1: what's the toughest part about trying to be like Ella
- 6:33Speaker 1: Langley and then like every day Ella?
- 6:36Speaker 2: M what's the toughest part about that?
- 6:41Speaker 1: Because everybody wants You're to the point now where your
- 6:44Speaker 1: your career took off so fast, everybody wants something from
- 6:46Speaker 1: you all the time.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah. I think it's I've the team that I have
- 6:52Speaker 2: around me and my family and my friends that I
- 6:54Speaker 2: have kind of a close circle in that way, and
- 6:58Speaker 2: not a one of them are yes and at all.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I mean, couldn't be any less of them. And I
- 7:02Speaker 2: like get aggravated when people are too like you sounded awesome.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I'm like, no, I didn't, I sound like shit. Tell
- 7:09Speaker 2: me that, damn. And I think that keeps me grounded.
- 7:14Speaker 2: But it is weird when you're, you know, going around
- 7:16Speaker 2: and someone's like, I'm gonna throw up on your shoos
- 7:18Speaker 2: because you're you know what. I'm like, Bro, It's okay,
- 7:22Speaker 2: you know, like I'm so new to that that I'm
- 7:24Speaker 2: like learning how to like, you know, Randon' is like, oh,
- 7:27Speaker 2: you've never clean throw up off your shoes?
- 7:29Speaker 1: What?
- 7:30Speaker 2: Welcome to the club?
- 7:31Speaker 1: You know?
- 7:31Speaker 2: Like I think that's just like I'm trying to the
- 7:35Speaker 2: women I think about it, or like maybe I get
- 7:37Speaker 2: like weirded out or cause it is weird when you're
- 7:39Speaker 2: walking through and you're like somebody's talking to you and
- 7:42Speaker 2: you're like, do they know? Maybe they don't know, and
- 7:45Speaker 2: then they do something You're like, yeah, they know. Like
- 7:47Speaker 2: I was at the airport and we were flying around
- 7:50Speaker 2: in Canada and I had just taken them a fun
- 7:52Speaker 2: fruit snack, a good sized one, you know, and I
- 7:56Speaker 2: was just telling them about food by the foot for sure. Yeah,
- 8:00Speaker 2: And I just was telling my security. I was like,
- 8:02Speaker 2: do that thing just we were going through. So we
- 8:04Speaker 2: were going through security when it kicked in, which is
- 8:06Speaker 2: fine whatever, And then as I told him that this,
- 8:08Speaker 2: I was like, ma'am, can I pull you out? Can
- 8:11Speaker 2: I pull you out of the line for a second?
- 8:13Speaker 2: I guess. So I watched over there and she is
- 8:19Speaker 2: like going through my bag had this vapor in there.
- 8:21Speaker 2: She's like this sounds great. And then like throws it
- 8:23Speaker 2: down and I was like, that's terrible. I'm so scared
- 8:25Speaker 2: right now. I'm like, this is it. I was looking
- 8:26Speaker 2: at it secured, girl was sweating and I was like,
- 8:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna in the morning. I was like, this is it.
- 8:30Speaker 2: This is so I go down. This is it for me.
- 8:32Speaker 2: I knew it was gonna be an airport. I knew.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I said the whole time he was gonna be an airport.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And then she's like, and actually, my daughter was at
- 8:38Speaker 2: the show tonight and I was like, well, she did
- 8:40Speaker 2: not talk like that because we were in Canada, but
- 8:41Speaker 2: that's just my voice for people. I guess yeah, And
- 8:44Speaker 2: I was like immediately, I was like, oh god, you
- 8:48Speaker 2: want me sign something for you? You know you want
- 8:50Speaker 2: to do that? She was like, yeah, that would be awesome.
- 8:53Speaker 2: So I did. I made a video for her daughter
- 8:55Speaker 2: and signed something. And then I was like, thanks for
- 8:56Speaker 2: coming to the show.
- 8:57Speaker 1: You're like, just don't post this please. Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 2: And then I was like and now I still have
- 9:00Speaker 2: to go through security, Like are you kidding me? Can
- 9:02Speaker 2: you just frisk me up at this point and let
- 9:04Speaker 2: me get to the lounge?
- 9:06Speaker 1: Did you you asked to be okay?
- 9:09Speaker 2: No, that was just a joke.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Oh god, that's it all right.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Anyway, the tour.
- 9:15Speaker 1: We caught up with Riley literally just a couple of
- 9:18Speaker 1: days ago. He sat in here and he was talking
- 9:20Speaker 1: about the tour has been more successful than even he
- 9:23Speaker 1: hoped it would be. So from your eyes on this tour,
- 9:28Speaker 1: do you can you say the same thing.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I try not to set massive expectations for things. Yeah,
- 9:36Speaker 2: because I get my heart broken and then I get sad.
- 9:39Speaker 2: So I knew that. I think with the song, I mean,
- 9:43Speaker 2: come on, the song did insane things last year, and
- 9:45Speaker 2: then for us to go on tour again, you know
- 9:47Speaker 2: that's kind of doesn't happen all the time with a
- 9:48Speaker 2: song that we had, that doesn't happen all the time.
- 9:50Speaker 2: So I've been I mean, it was so intrigued to
- 9:52Speaker 2: see what the crowds would be like. And they're insane,
- 9:54Speaker 2: like it is so much fun. It's a great it's
- 9:56Speaker 2: a great crowd. I mean, it's definitely a different vibe
- 9:58Speaker 2: a little bit from last year. It's the the energy
- 10:00Speaker 2: and there's a little like kind of and he's the
- 10:03Speaker 2: openers that go before me, all of them have been awesome.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Jake Worthington was out with us in the beginning. Love
- 10:08Speaker 2: that guy.
- 10:09Speaker 1: He's great, every crazy underrated. His guitar skills are awesome too.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Yeah, just like listening to him talk makes me feel
- 10:15Speaker 2: like I'm at home and I'm like, I can do that.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Forevery he always goes a woman, and so it talks
- 10:19Speaker 2: to me and goes, oh a woman, Oh a woman.
- 10:22Speaker 2: You sang amazing. I love how you sang. I love you.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Jake best Buds is obviously the biggest plus is a
- 10:30Speaker 1: country music fan is to go to this tour one
- 10:33Speaker 1: of the biggest songs that came out in the past
- 10:36Speaker 1: couple of years. Uh, you guys and will end up
- 10:38Speaker 1: doing together. Does it make it harder for you as
- 10:42Speaker 1: an artist to move past that song?
- 10:44Speaker 2: No, No, because that song is its own thing, you know.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I think like each record is its own thing. And
- 10:49Speaker 2: then like there's that thing. I'm I'm all right, you know,
- 10:52Speaker 2: I've eaten enough mac and cheese for a long time,
- 10:55Speaker 2: Like it's time for like different stuff, and each record
- 10:59Speaker 2: will be a different little thing. And so that song,
- 11:01Speaker 2: like I mean, out of the gate, I think the
- 11:03Speaker 2: only thing was like you know a little bit with radio,
- 11:05Speaker 2: It's like all right, like I've had an unfair example
- 11:07Speaker 2: of what a song does it dge radio? Like, I
- 11:10Speaker 2: don't know, Like so you know, trying to, I guess,
- 11:15Speaker 2: navigate that feeling of what it would be like to
- 11:18Speaker 2: send the next one and then setting weren't for the
- 11:20Speaker 2: win and then be like, Okay, people are grabbing onto
- 11:24Speaker 2: this one too. That's sick and it's just I don't know.
- 11:28Speaker 2: It's a test to think, like how much effort goes
- 11:32Speaker 2: into a record, you know, like not just here's twelve songs.
- 11:36Speaker 2: That's best, twelve songs I wrote in three months and
- 11:38Speaker 2: here it is.
- 11:38Speaker 1: You know, Uh, this format is tough to get into,
- 11:45Speaker 1: and especially unfairly for female artists. You have not only
- 11:49Speaker 1: set fire with your first single, but the second single
- 11:52Speaker 1: kicked in the door just as hard as the first
- 11:54Speaker 1: one did. Does that make you proud as a country
- 12:00Speaker 1: artists to be doing that or does it make you
- 12:02Speaker 1: proud to be like like I'm in here kicking ass
- 12:04Speaker 1: with the boys representing for the ladies.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Both?
- 12:08Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 12:08Speaker 2: Both?
- 12:09Speaker 1: You know.
- 12:10Speaker 2: When I started out, I started out in cover gig
- 12:12Speaker 2: world and not on Broadway, like I lived in Alabama.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I was going to Auburn. That's where I went run
- 12:19Speaker 2: out of high school, was going to college, went there
- 12:20Speaker 2: for two years, and I was playing cover gigs like
- 12:24Speaker 2: four hours I was running it, and there wasn't very
- 12:27Speaker 2: many women in that scene at all. And I don't know,
- 12:32Speaker 2: I just kind of didn't give a shit about like
- 12:34Speaker 2: if people are like, oh, you're a girls, I mean,
- 12:35Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like, yeah, I guess, but
- 12:37Speaker 2: and I might have to work a little bit harder.
- 12:38Speaker 2: But it's like, once I get in there, it's all
- 12:40Speaker 2: on their the effort and the talent and the what
- 12:44Speaker 2: has gone into this artistry, you know, to sell the tickets.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I mean, proof is in the pudding. And that's kind
- 12:49Speaker 2: of always what I've left it up to. You know.
- 12:51Speaker 2: It's like I don't have to go around talking about
- 12:53Speaker 2: proving myself all the time if I just prove myself,
- 12:56Speaker 2: you know, if I just put out a song and
- 12:58Speaker 2: it's like, Okay, well I or my ass off on
- 13:01Speaker 2: that record and that song and my team did and
- 13:03Speaker 2: there wasn't It's not like we accidentally put those eighteen
- 13:06Speaker 2: songs together. You know, like we've been building this and
- 13:09Speaker 2: it's been building for a long time, so you know,
- 13:11Speaker 2: to get to a moment like we had with you
- 13:13Speaker 2: look like you love Me, and then now with Weren't
- 13:15Speaker 2: for the Wind and seeing what the tour is doing,
- 13:17Speaker 2: what my tour did. I mean, I've yet to play
- 13:20Speaker 2: a headline show that wasn't sold out, Like that's absolutely insane,
- 13:24Speaker 2: that's nuts to say, but it's badass. And I'm to
- 13:29Speaker 2: feel a room full of people for the first time
- 13:32Speaker 2: as a headliner where it is like a roar when
- 13:35Speaker 2: you walk out on stage, and you've been like imagining
- 13:37Speaker 2: this moment every time you've done the dishes your whole life.
- 13:40Speaker 2: You know, like every time you're in the shower, every
- 13:43Speaker 2: time you're in a long car ride, you're imagining what
- 13:45Speaker 2: it would be like to sing a song and have
- 13:47Speaker 2: these people be like, I love this song. And then
- 13:50Speaker 2: that shit just starts happening and you're like, yeah, this
- 13:54Speaker 2: is awesome. I'm really sleepy, but this is awesome. And
- 13:58Speaker 2: it just keeps growing and I'm just enjoying the journey.
- 14:01Speaker 2: I'm not in a rush to get anywhere or do anything,
- 14:03Speaker 2: and you know, just kind of doing it feels right
- 14:05Speaker 2: and putting out songs that I love and just learning
- 14:08Speaker 2: more about who I am as a person and an artist.
- 14:12Speaker 1: We Tay and I got to introduce you at Riverfront
- 14:15Speaker 1: and it's funny because, uh we are we are both
- 14:18Speaker 1: fans of what you do. But she's like, like this
- 14:21Speaker 1: far away from buying to e merch a T shirt type.
- 14:25Speaker 2: I have some merch down Street.
- 14:28Speaker 1: She got you, she got you, got you.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I know where they get it, you know.
- 14:33Speaker 1: But it was so exciting too. We have we had
- 14:36Speaker 1: talked to you before early and uh, you look like
- 14:40Speaker 1: you love me. Uh the release, we got to talk
- 14:42Speaker 1: to you, catch up there and then to see you
- 14:45Speaker 1: play Riverfront, which was that capacity before you hit the stage,
- 14:49Speaker 1: which is wild. I don't think I think that happened
- 14:51Speaker 1: maybe one other time the entire weekend, which is nuts.
- 14:56Speaker 1: And hopefully that's something you got to like soak in.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I do want to ask if you deleted
- 15:02Speaker 1: Dylan Marlow's contact after that attempt.
- 15:04Speaker 2: No, no, no, And I need to put set the story
- 15:06Speaker 2: straight because let me give this man some credit. I
- 15:10Speaker 2: woke up Sunday morning, the day I was playing that,
- 15:13Speaker 2: and I said, and Riley was at the beach or something,
- 15:18Speaker 2: you know, like I knew he wasn't in town. We
- 15:19Speaker 2: had just played the show the night before and I
- 15:21Speaker 2: got in that morning and I was like, who the
- 15:25Speaker 2: hell's going to do? You look like you loved me
- 15:26Speaker 2: with me? And I was like, I guess I could
- 15:28Speaker 2: do it by myself. And then I was like who
- 15:30Speaker 2: can I get? And so I called a couple of
- 15:32Speaker 2: people and they're like, can't, can't, and I was like
- 15:33Speaker 2: all right, and then I was like, well, who's already
- 15:36Speaker 2: going to be there so I don't have to bother anyone.
- 15:38Speaker 2: And then I was like, oh, Dylan, Like that's my boy,
- 15:40Speaker 2: Like we we I mean one of my first artist
- 15:43Speaker 2: friends I made in town, and so I was like, yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 2: that'd be fun. I haven't sang on stage with him
- 15:48Speaker 2: so long, and so I called him like four hours
- 15:52Speaker 2: before we went on stage, and I was like, hey, Doug,
- 15:55Speaker 2: do you want to do you look like you love
- 15:57Speaker 2: me with me? He's like, I don't know it for real.
- 16:00Speaker 2: And I was like, that's fine. It's kind of a
- 16:02Speaker 2: funny song. If you go out and mess it up,
- 16:04Speaker 2: just make it up, just make up your own words.
- 16:06Speaker 2: It's like whatever you want to do, you know. He's
- 16:09Speaker 2: like sick and that man, he really did it, gave
- 16:11Speaker 2: it his all and like he could tell it like Natalie,
- 16:14Speaker 2: his wife, was like, I hate that song. Now. I've
- 16:16Speaker 2: listened to it so many times in the car over
- 16:18Speaker 2: the past four hours. I'm like, I can't understand that.
- 16:22Speaker 2: And then he came out there and it was just
- 16:24Speaker 2: like he got so close and I was trying to
- 16:26Speaker 2: act it out for him, and that was part of
- 16:29Speaker 2: the bit though, you know. And then you know the
- 16:31Speaker 2: long sleeve shirt can't sing and that was good and.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I like that.
- 16:34Speaker 2: So I don't know, I think that shit's funny, like
- 16:37Speaker 2: it can't ever be. I'm not a robot. He's not
- 16:40Speaker 2: a robot. Like sometimes, like getting to see live music
- 16:43Speaker 2: and live show, I think people get so used to
- 16:45Speaker 2: perfection because of social media that they forget that in
- 16:50Speaker 2: real life, things are not perfect. Humans are not perfect.
- 16:54Speaker 2: And it's kind of about like the experience, you know,
- 16:56Speaker 2: it's about like that's a version of that song that
- 16:59Speaker 2: only those people saw. You know, you saw it sure
- 17:02Speaker 2: on social media, but you saw there is different he was,
- 17:05Speaker 2: and I love dealing for that. So Dylan, thank you
- 17:08Speaker 2: for coming out and doing that song.
- 17:09Speaker 1: He came out with so much confidence he did, and
- 17:12Speaker 1: I saw you kind of looking at him like okay,
- 17:14Speaker 1: all right. But then I'll saw you go. I saw
- 17:16Speaker 1: you look at him like, oh ship, no looking at We're.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Trying to help. I was. I was like a country
- 17:26Speaker 2: girls come in the eye, you know, like bangs saying
- 17:30Speaker 2: bangs and boots, bangs and boots.
- 17:34Speaker 1: It was a cool experience. And obviously that has to
- 17:36Speaker 1: be a moment if you look over the last year
- 17:38Speaker 1: of your life, how things went at Riverfront has to
- 17:42Speaker 1: be a top moment for you. Outside of that, what
- 17:44Speaker 1: are moments that you're still kind of like, Wow, this
- 17:46Speaker 1: is this whole thing is working out, isn't it.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, come on stadium. Me and my band
- 17:54Speaker 2: were out there, like is it this is? This is
- 17:58Speaker 2: like he felt comfortable up there, you know, and to
- 18:00Speaker 2: feel comfortable and stadium full of people like that, to
- 18:03Speaker 2: have that many people singing songs that you wrote, can't
- 18:06Speaker 2: beat that. I think the whole headline tour, you know,
- 18:12Speaker 2: I had just started. I did last fall, and then
- 18:15Speaker 2: I did eighteen shows in the spring before we started
- 18:18Speaker 2: with Riley. Yeah, they liked me on the road. I
- 18:22Speaker 2: live there pretty much when I'm an addict. So when
- 18:25Speaker 2: what I mean to playing shows like I literally it's
- 18:27Speaker 2: it's it's becomes an addiction. It really does, like the
- 18:30Speaker 2: life of it, and once you like do it for
- 18:32Speaker 2: so long, you just like that's how you live your life.
- 18:35Speaker 2: And then you're like you have a week Saturday off
- 18:36Speaker 2: and you're.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Like, what do I do you?
- 18:42Speaker 2: But yeah, so to get to do that and then
- 18:46Speaker 2: you know, with just like random things, people will tell me,
- 18:51Speaker 2: like come up to me and tell me how a
- 18:53Speaker 2: song affected them and like how they like they felt
- 18:57Speaker 2: like for the first time, like somebody understood a feeling
- 18:59Speaker 2: that they had, you know, And I've listened to songs
- 19:01Speaker 2: and felt that way. So that's an I made a
- 19:04Speaker 2: moment I think I cms that was getting up there
- 19:08Speaker 2: with Miranda Lambert on Kerosene. I was like, oh, this
- 19:12Speaker 2: is cool.
- 19:14Speaker 1: So wild, and I got to tell you, like we
- 19:17Speaker 1: Tay and I both are very lucky this seat that
- 19:19Speaker 1: we sit in because we get to talk to and
- 19:20Speaker 1: interact with some of the best people doing country music.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Obviously you're very well placed in that in that sentence there,
- 19:29Speaker 1: and it's cool to watch these moments happen for people
- 19:32Speaker 1: that have worked so hard. Yeah, regardless of listen, sure
- 19:37Speaker 1: things have taken off quick over the last year on
- 19:40Speaker 1: the radio and evert. But it don't mean you haven't
- 19:41Speaker 1: been grinding long before we ever knew your name.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I think there's so many. I mean, I mean,
- 19:47Speaker 2: God bless look out on where we are on Broadway
- 19:49Speaker 2: right now. That's what every one of these people are doing.
- 19:51Speaker 2: How many people pursue this job and I mean get
- 19:57Speaker 2: Some people pursued their whole life and get and reap
- 19:59Speaker 2: zero benefits and still do it. And I've met those people.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I played with those people. And for me, if I
- 20:06Speaker 2: never if this never blew up, if I was never
- 20:08Speaker 2: I would still be playing shows every weekend. I was
- 20:10Speaker 2: doing it before I was making money. I was doing
- 20:11Speaker 2: it when I was paying money to do this job.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I was there was a point of my career I
- 20:15Speaker 2: was actually paying money to do this job. And I
- 20:19Speaker 2: would do it again.
- 20:21Speaker 1: You know the stories those people have. Now, let me
- 20:23Speaker 1: tell you the last thing I want to ask, and
- 20:26Speaker 1: I usually don't go this way, but since mom is here,
- 20:28Speaker 1: you told us moments that stand out for you. What
- 20:31Speaker 1: do you think is the moment that is your mother
- 20:33Speaker 1: is single most proud of over the last couple of years.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Probably my speech, I would say, maybe may be one
- 20:45Speaker 2: of my speeches up there or I don't know. It's
- 20:48Speaker 2: kind of a crazy viewpoint. I haven't thought about it
- 20:50Speaker 2: like that because of trickery.
- 20:52Speaker 1: It's funny because, as I kind of emotional, my daughter's fourteen,
- 20:55Speaker 1: and she has done she's been trying to do the
- 20:58Speaker 1: choir thing and she went for couldn't land a solo
- 21:00Speaker 1: to save her life till she ended the school year
- 21:03Speaker 1: with two of them. So like from a parent, to
- 21:06Speaker 1: watch your child chase something that they're succeeding at.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I think that I take it back my answer. I
- 21:14Speaker 2: think it couldn't be any further actually from the speeches.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I think it's I think, like the way that I'm
- 21:20Speaker 2: taking care of myself now and like, you know, becoming
- 21:25Speaker 2: a better woman every day and every time I get
- 21:28Speaker 2: knocked down, the way that I get back up, and
- 21:30Speaker 2: the way that I hold myself as a human and
- 21:33Speaker 2: a woman, and you know, standing up for myself. I
- 21:37Speaker 2: think that's something that she's always taught me, and she's
- 21:39Speaker 2: not afraid to send up for herself. And that's I
- 21:42Speaker 2: don't know if you could guess that, but it's a
- 21:45Speaker 2: strong suit of mind, you.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Know, and we're proud of it. We can see, we
- 21:48Speaker 1: can see it as country music fans that Ella's got
- 21:52Speaker 1: it together and it's taking care of herself.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Well, I don't know. Got it together is a little
- 21:56Speaker 2: stretched fair.
- 21:58Speaker 1: I was trying to be nice with that first part.
- 22:01Speaker 1: The last part I meant more than the.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I'm working on getting it together, Hella.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Thank you for the time, the day there, having me
