- 0:00SPEAKER_01: This zeitgeist is extremely dangerous.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: And it's it's tempting women to apostasy.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: They're walking out of the Christian church, right and left, and this apostasy has picked up in the last 10 to 15 years.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: And that's why a pastor worth his salt has got to stand up and warn the women.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: Somebody's got to say something.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: And we've got to say it today.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: You're listening to Passing on the Faith, a podcast from generations.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Every week, we bring you a powerful moment from one of our sermons, audiobooks, webinars, or conference talks.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Handpicks to help you build a strong biblical foundation for your family.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: This week's episode is a sermon from an equipping series at Reformation Church of Elizabeth, entitled Daughters as Pillars and the Palace of the King by Kevin Swanson.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: Please stand with me.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: We'll read from 1 Peter chapter 2, verse 21.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: 1 Peter 2.21, I'd like to read down through chapter 3 and verse 6.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Let's start now with 1 Peter 2.21.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: For to this you were called because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example that you should follow his steps.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: Who committed no sin nor was deceit found in his mouth, who when he was reviled did not revile in return.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: When he suffered, he did not threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously, who himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness by whose stripes you were healed.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they without a word may be won by the conduct of their wives.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: When they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Do not let your adornment be merely outward, arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: This is the very word of God.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Our Father God, this morning, we pray your Spirit, we pray an enlightenment to your will and your word for our lives.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: We pray for faith, we pray for humility.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: We pray, Father, that this would transform our lives, that your word would be a light to our path, and that we would be a shining light in the world around us because of your word that is taught here.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: In Jesus' name.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Please be seated.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: We continue our equipping series this morning on what we consider to be critical issues of the day.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: This I believe is the fourth in the series.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: And today I want to direct a message to women and to young women and to little girls.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Next week we'll move on to boys and to men.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: But I'd like to first contextualize and preview a few things before I get on with the message this morning.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: First is that the church needs to bring a clear message to the day, a prophetic statement.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Now that only constitutes, I don't know, anywhere between 10 and 20% of the church ministry.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: We're not going to pound this, but we do need to refer to this from time to time.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: The church needs to speak out on the salient sins of the day.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: And if the church doesn't do that, the church is not worth its salt, literally.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Number two, the second thing I want to say initially is this is that we cannot rely on a single message to understand what God's Word has to say to any of us here.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: We want to be equal opportunity in addressing the sins of the day.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Nobody's exempt from the grace of God.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Sometimes, you know, homosexuals want to consider themselves exempt from the grace of God and exempt from any message that might direct itself to that particular sin.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: So we want to bring out whatever the Word of God has to say to any and all of us.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: And we don't want to focus on one ditch, one enemy, or one false teaching.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: Now be fair.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: Whenever you hear a teaching ministry in the church, be fair.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: Take into account a thousand sermons, not just one, where we have presented the thesis, the gospel, God's word, God's truth against a thousand heresies, a thousand different problems, and we brought out the gospel.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: A thousand different aspects.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: Hopefully, everything we present is encapsulated in the true gospel message.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: But if you're in Crete in A.D.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: 55, if we were teaching on this island called Crete in A.D.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: 55, Paul says the Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: This testimony is true.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: Therefore, rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: So that's important for us.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: We don't live in Crete, we live in Elizabeth, Colorado, in A.D.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: 2026.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: So we're going to have to be certain that we're hitting the salient, applicable, relevant cultural issues of the day, and that's important for us.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Another point I want to bring out initially as well is that we as the church are extremely limited.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: I want you to think about this for a moment.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: We get 50 sermons a year approximately, for most of you.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: That's 50 hours a year of teaching, of which we sure would like to cover a book in the Bible occasionally and get to these books over the next 200 years of preaching.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: But it's extremely difficult to do it in a single service.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Extremely difficult.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: In fact, it's impossible.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: That's what makes the current church situation so impossible in the current scenario, especially when we're up against an average of 5,000 hours of popular media, social media, secular workplaces, universities, and such.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: So if it's a 1 to 100, in some cases we don't get an hour.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: In some cases, we only get a half an hour in some churches.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: So that means that we are so disadvantaged as pastors, it's almost to the point where we just need to walk out of here.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: A one to two hundred ratio, I mean, think about it for a moment.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: A one to two hundred ratio, that's just impossible.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: It's an impossible task.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: Unless there's five to six days of discipleship going on in a church, and thank God that's happening in my life.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: I'm discipling anywhere between five and seven days a week.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: Hours upon hours every day in which we are reaching some of you on a daily basis.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: And family worship as well.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: So there is this very difficult challenge that faces us.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: I want you to at least understand this.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: That we just we just are pretty much overwhelmed in terms of pastors of this congregation to be able to get to the things that we feel we need to get to.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: It's extremely difficult.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: Now we appreciate those who give us counsel, but I think you at least need to understand the challenge that we face as a church.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: Today we're going to get up against one of the biggest institutional enemies that has brought more devastation to the family in America than anything else.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: It's extremely damaging, extremely destructive.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: And in some respects, the church is a bit of a haven in which maybe there's some protection against the utter devastation that's come upon this country in the last 60 years, roughly three generations.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: It's overwhelming.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: It is overwhelming to think about how much this has affected all of us over the last two to three generations.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: I'm not talking about just you.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: I'm talking about your parents, your grandparents, and your great-grandparents.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: This is a multi-generational disaster that we're facing.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: And I see a number of you nodding your heads right now.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: You know exactly what I'm talking about.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: Now, if you go against this particular sacred cow that we're going to go up against today, you will be persecuted for it.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Because I believe of all of them that are out there, homosexuality, evolution, etc., etc., this one is the most sacred of all the sacred cows.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: This is it.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: We've finally arrived at it.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: And I want to be sure that everybody's paying attention as much as possible.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: Now I understand that if you agree with this kind of stuff, you're going to be persecuted for it.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: So that's what makes this message really tough for anybody that's here.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: I commend your faith for showing up this morning.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: But it will take faith to hear the message.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: The world just absolutely hates what we're going to say today.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: The devil will hate it when it comes out up front here this morning.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: But we've got to speak the truth.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: Now, here's one more thing.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: This message, and really the message of God's Word, doesn't just apply to all those people out there.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: It applies to all of us.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: Now, if I was to bring a message on how bad it is to rob banks, you know, I'm just really against bank robbing.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: And uh that might apply to about 1% of you.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: I uh how many of you have robbed banks lately?
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, it probably wouldn't have a lot of application, so you'd probably go, well, this is really good for somebody here, but it's not really that helpful to me.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: So it's this one's not about robbing banks.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: This one's gonna affect 50% of this congregation, big time.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: In fact, it's gonna affect 100% of us.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: This one's gonna go deep.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: This sword's gonna plunge uh pretty deep.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: So I want you to get ready for it because it's not just for everybody out there, it's for every daughter of Eve and every son of Adam that has showed up this morning into this uh room.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: And then here's one more thing.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: This this message is so extremely relevant today.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: Its relevance is way beyond what it was 15 years ago.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: Way beyond.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: This relevance has increased, I'd say, at least tenfold since the 1980s, 1990s, and even more so in the last 15 years.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: It is amazing what kind of a spiritual demonic force has descended upon the nation, especially in this area.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: Let me give you some stats.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Americans who believe abortion should be legal in most or all cases has increased radically from 54% to 63% since 2019, since the reversal of Roe v.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Wade.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: Americans have become far more pro-abortion.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: That's an unprecedented 9% increase, and I'm talking about since the 1980s.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: We haven't seen more enthusiasm for abortion in America than what we've seen in the last nine years.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: The heart of this nation is in real trouble.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: But here's the clincher to all of this.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Women were pro-abortion at 45% about 10, 15 years ago.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: That's now 63%.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: Women who uh agree that's important to kill babies and to kill their babies, that's increased from 45% to 63% in the last 10 to 15 years.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: At the same time, men have remained 45% pro-abortion, so nothing's happened to men.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: It's happening to women.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: It's one of the most dangerous things that's happened in this country, and it's happening to women.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: 40% of young men are going back to church, only 28% of young women.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: This is killing our women.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: This uh this zeitgeist is extremely dangerous, and it's it's tempting women to apostasy.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: They're walking out of the Christian church, right and left, and this apostasy has picked up in the last 10 to 15 years.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: And that's why a pastor worth his salt has got to stand up and warn the women.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: Somebody's got to say something, and we've got to say it today.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: The feminist pro-abortion spirit is the apostasy of the day.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: This is what is taking women away from the church, away from the faith, and down the pathway to hell in our day-to-day.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: This is where the enemy, the devil, is attacking most viciously and most successfully right now in this country.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: The apostasy among American women is in full gear.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: It's very much the Jezebel spirit of Revelation 2.20.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: Now, what is that?
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: You can look it up if you want.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: I'll summarize it just ever so briefly.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: The Jezebel spirit is that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: She does two things.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: She usurps the authority to teach in the church.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: That is, she has a huge controlling influence in the church, and she seduces people to commit sexual immorality to illegitimate divorce, to lesbianism, and to kill their babies that are conceived in their sexual immorality.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: And this spirit has crept into churches, schools, colleges, the workplace, the media, and the political situation.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: And if you haven't noticed that, you've been asleep for a while.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: So the true church absolutely needs to speak out loud and clear right now.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: Now, there are what 55% of men that still oppose abortion and the feminist apostate spirit.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: But now it's time for, I believe, true Christian women of God to stand up.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: And I'm calling on the women who are sitting here in front of us today to be the women of God who have the faith and the courage to say the truth.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: And I know you're here.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: I I've seen you, you some of you almost make me want to cry when I hear you speak out.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: Uh because I know there's faith here.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: I've heard it, I've seen it.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: But remember, you're a minority right now in this country.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: You're right there with 37% of American women who are still pro-life.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: 37%.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: You are a minority.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: But it's time for you to stand up and be the Debras and the Yaels.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: Every Jesus-loving, God-fearing woman in America right now needs to stand up and stand against this Jezebel spirit and pound the big nails into the head of this ideological enemy of God.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: And if you're a woman, you can say amen right now if you want to.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: And then here's the second thing.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: The second thing, and this is the focus of the message today.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: We need to raise our daughters to oppose this wicked pro-abortion feminist and Jezebel spirit.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: Now, why is this so extremely relevant to us?
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: Number one, Colorado is ground zero when it comes to the feminist spirit and the abortion spirit.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: You know, is the first state in America to legalize abortion in 1967, signed by Governor Love, Republican governor.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: So Colorado, first one, right there at the forefront.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: Wyoming is the first ground zero feminist state in America.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: Cheyenne, as you've been into the Capitol in Cheyenne, I've been there.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: It's got a monument to feminism because it's the first state that adopted feminism in 1869, before England, before France, before Germany.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Feminism had captured the hearts of people that live out here in Colorado and Wyoming in 1869.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: I want you to understand, we are up against a demonic force that has a grip on this state.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: It has a grip on this Western independent lifestyle, the cowboy, cowgirl spirit.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: And we need to be awake to this, my friends.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: Independent spirits killing the covenant family.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: Wyoming, Idaho, and Nevada, most wicked states in America, in terms of the highest divorce rate in the country.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: Colorado's right behind them.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: But by far, the worst divorce rates in the world, that's America, the worst divorce rates in America, Wyoming, Idaho, and Nevada.
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: And Colorado comes in about fourth or fifth.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: So if you live in this state and you are Christian, you must oppose the doctrine of feminism with all that is in you.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: This is where the battle is raging most ferociously, where Christians have got to stand up.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: And they will be counted and they will be hated for this particular thing.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: Now, I'm going to answer the question: what is feminism?
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: I want to make it as clear as I can.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: I found the quotes, I boiled down to nine propositions, and it's in your notes.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: Okay, it's right there in front of you.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: If you want to understand what it what this dangerous enemy is all about, it's right there in black and white.
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: The thing that you're to stand against, with all that is in you, sisters in Christ, as well as brothers, this is it.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: We stand against this.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: Gloria Steinem, here's a quote: The liberated woman has sex before marriage and a job after.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: Betty Ferdan, who's the Jezebel of all Jezebels, the absolute philosophical roots of this movement, writing in 1963, the mother of modern feminism, the mother of modern divorce, the sex before marriage movement, the abortion movement in America.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: She was there.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: She is the one who leads all of this.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: And one of the questions I want to ask you as you read these quotes is do you agree with that?
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: Whose side are you on?
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: Whose side are you on?
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: I want to ask that question.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: And so it's there in black and white.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: I want to be sure I present this right there in front of all of us.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: A woman has got to be able to say and not feel guilty, who am I and what do I want out of life?
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: She mustn't feel selfish and neurotic if she wants goals of her own outside of husband and children.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: It's better for a woman to compete impersonally in society as men do than to compete for dominance in her own home with her own husband.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: Is that your philosophy?
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: That's her philosophy.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: Is that yours?
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: Let me boil this down as best as I can.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: Again, labels are not enough.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: And for somebody to sit around and say, I'm just against feminism, femazis, all that, it's not good.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: We have to be honest.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: We have to be intelligent, thoughtful, as we lay out exactly what feminists believe.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: And these are, as I as I can tell, the fairly universal propositions of modern feminism, which virtually rules our world today.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: So here it is.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: I'm just going to read them quickly.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: Proposition number one, she is the master of her own life.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: She will determine her own purpose and role in life.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: She will determine her value and her own meaning by choice and action.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: Not God's choice.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: Not God's actions.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: Not God's roles for her.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: But her role, her idea, her definition of herself.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: Effectively, feminism is John Paul Sartre's existentialism for women, effectively.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Number two, her value is determined by self-determination by making a mark on the world and by the money she earns and the power she obtains over others in politics in the marketplace.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Number three, she rejects any God-given roles.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: A wife's role is self-defined rather than prescribed.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: She may choose domestic focus, career focus, or a mixture.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: The important thing is that she chooses her roles in life.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: Her role is self-defined, not prescribed by Scripture or by her husband.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: Number four, she has absolute authority over her own body, especially when it comes to sexuality.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: First Corinthians 7, 4, extremely heretical to the feminist.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: That's extreme heresy to feminism.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: Number five, she must have the right to kill her offspring and prevent her offspring to retain sexual autonomy and maximum financial independence from a husband and the family in general.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: Number six, she must never submit to her husband when she disagrees with him.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: Never.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: First Peter 3.1 is extreme heresy for the feminist.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: Here's what Peter said.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: Wives, be submissive to your own husbands.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Number seven, the household economy where the axe head and the axe handle are joined together to produce a team that's completely obliterated by feminism.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: Number eight, there's a complete rejection of any biblical roles laid out for women as too restrictive.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: And number nine, children are a curse, and divorce is a blessing.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: Now, what I want to do today is I want to set out a vision for raising our little girls, our daughters.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: There are so many little girls in this congregation.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: How are we going to raise these little ones in the nurture and the admonition of the Lord Jesus Christ?
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: How are we going to do this?
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: Well, as I said, number one, do not raise your daughters to be feminists.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: And number two, you've got to establish a biblical vision for our daughters.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: That is, when I say a biblical vision, I mean we need a prayer, we need a burden, we need a vision, we need A blessing, a biblical standard.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: What do we want for them?
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: What do we desire for them?
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: What is the value that we would have for them, for their character, for their roles, for the future of their life?
- 23:37SPEAKER_01: What is it?
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: What is the thing that matters most?
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: I remember I was sitting next to a Mormon attorney out of Salt Lake City a number of years ago, and I was talking about how important it is to raise our children with strong faith and character and such.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: He said, I agree with that.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: That's why I'm raising my daughters to be independent.
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: And so I said, Well, what's the Bible say about that?
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: Go into the Bible?
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: You know, what does the Bible say?
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: Is that a value?
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: Does the Bible lay that out as a value?
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: As some important thing?
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: Is that the thing that matters?
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: It matters to the world, to Mormons, and to the world out there, obviously.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: But I just, what does the Bible say?
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: Well, you turn directly to 1 Corinthians chapter 11, what do you find?
- 24:14SPEAKER_01: But the man is not independent of the woman, and the woman shall not be independent of the man.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: So there it is.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: What's what the Bible says?
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: The Bible doesn't present that.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: The Bible does not present that as the value.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: The Bible doesn't present that as the vision.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: So again, the world is creeping in here.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: What we really want to know is what does God say about these things?
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: What does God consider to be the most important thing?
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: The thing that happens or that needs to happen in our children's lives.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: Now, again, let me say this.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: You cannot make this happen.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: That's why I call it a vision, a burden, a prayer, a blessing, the biblical objective and the goals, etc.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: That's why I call it that.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Because you can't make it happen.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: You can't force it to happen.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: You can't sovereignly ordain it to happen.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: You cannot regenerate your child's life and sanctify your child's heart and life, but you can pray, you can teach it, you can correct to it, you can evangelize to it.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: Now, maybe you didn't have the best instruction and examples over the last, say, 40, 50 years of your life.
- 25:11SPEAKER_01: You walked into this church and you asked yourself or asked us, what does the Bible say about these sorts of things?
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: What does God say about this?
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: Well, one thing we know for sure is that we absolutely must abandon whatever the world is saying.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: The world has not proven itself.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: Yes, they're dominated by feminism.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Yes, they're dominated by all this existentialist John Paul Sarturian thought and all the rest.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: But uh but their ideas have yielded absolutely despicable and horrendous consequences.
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: The destruction of the human family, more so than anything we've seen in at least 500 years, probably a thousand years, perhaps even two thousand years.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: We're looking at utter destruction to the American family and to marriage.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: So the world doesn't know anything about any of this.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: We're not listening to the world on this.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: The question for us to ask is what does God say about all of this?
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Now, there are long lists of what the world wants for you.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: There are long lists of how other people, men and women, uh, want you to look a certain way as women.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: They want you to do this or that as women, etc.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: But they've got long lists.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: Everybody's got a vision, everybody's got a thing they're imposing upon you.
- 26:17SPEAKER_01: You get it through social media, you get it through the pictures and pop culture, you get it through the movies, etc.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: You're always getting these uh these role models of how you're supposed to be and what you're supposed to look like, etc.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: etc.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: The world will put a burden upon you.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: But I'm saying, just abandon all of that and just say, God, what do you have for me?
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: What does God have?
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: It turns out not very much.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: There's actually not very much here.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: There's only two points.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: I only have two points this morning.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: So it should be pretty simple.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: So let's just go over that very briefly.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: What is it that God would have?
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: What is the biblical vision?
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: Well, as we read in Psalm 144, that our daughters be beautiful, solid, stately, well-grounded pillars in the palace of a king.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: That's the vision.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: And the vision, of course, is that light over yonder hill.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: And we don't really have the ability to just achieve that overnight.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: We take baby steps.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: People come from different directions, different backgrounds, et cetera.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: Same standard.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: And so we're not opposing our same process upon all these other families.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: Nevertheless, we have a standard.
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: God's laid out the standard for us.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: And so some of us are going to take shorter steps, baby steps, et cetera.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: And so you know you may see in your own family, you're not really making a whole lot of progress over a year or two, or five or ten years, or a generation or two.
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: I'm hoping in the second or third generation in my life, we'll see some progress, etc.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: Yes, absolutely.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: It's a slow process.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: But we still have to have the vision of the Word of God in front of us in order to see the light over yonder hill and make the baby steps from here to there.
- 29:57SPEAKER_01: So here's number one.
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: Raise your daughters with the right role in mind.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: And then number two, raise your daughter with the right character in mind.
- 30:07SPEAKER_01: Roles and character.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: Okay?
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: The roles.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: God has laid out roles for your daughter.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: God-inspired, divinely established roles for womanhood.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: And you'll find it in Genesis 2, Titus 2, 1 Timothy 5.
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: And I'm not going to spend any time on it.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: God wants for our women to be a helper appropriate for their husbands should they get married.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: There's a gift of singleness, there's an exception for singleness.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: It's not very many people actually have that.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: It's one or two percent.
- 30:43SPEAKER_01: But for most, that young woman, that little girl, will turn into a helper appropriate for her husband.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: And secondly, a home manager.
- 30:52SPEAKER_01: We're to raise our daughters to be helpers appropriate for their husbands, axe heads on axe handles for the household economy.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: And she is to be the oikas despotel, the home manager in the home.
- 31:08SPEAKER_01: Alright, so enough of that.
- 31:09SPEAKER_01: Let's move on.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: Number two, raise your daughters with biblical character emphases, as God has laid these down in his holy word.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: Here is the context.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: Here is the context.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: The context first from 1 Peter chapter 3 is marriage.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: And in this context, the number one character trait that God has laid down for women in the Word is submission.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: To be meek, submissive, and obedient.
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: Let's take a look at 1 Peter 3 1.
- 31:49SPEAKER_01: Wives likewise be submissive to your own husbands.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: Then verse 4, the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit is very precious in the sight of God.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: And verse 5, for in this manner in former times the holy women were trusting in God also, adorning themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord, whose daughters you are if you do good, and are not afraid with any terror.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: So here are three words.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: Three words show up here, as they do in 1 Timothy chapter 2.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: The first of which is submission.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: The second is gentleness.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: The third is the quietude.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: To be submissive, gentle, and quiet.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: These are the character traits or the words describing character traits that God wants for our little daughters.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: To be submissive is to yield to an acknowledged authority, to be under authority, submitted to the authority, and to obey that authority.
- 33:01SPEAKER_01: To be gentle, the word prowess is used for gentleness, same word is used for Jesus, who is gentle.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: But gentle is a strength calibrated by submission.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: Gentleness is a strength that is calibrated by submission.
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: That is like the war horse.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: A very powerful horse.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: A horse that can do all sorts of things in battle, and yet still under the authority of the rider.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: Submitting to the authority of the rider.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: That's prowess.
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: That's the idea of meekness, or sometimes translated humility.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: Or in this case, translated as to be gentle.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: And then there's this quietness, and the quietness is an inner peace and calmness in her heart.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: Her heart does not churn in discontent, frustration, that she cannot control things or a grappling for control.
- 33:57SPEAKER_01: So that's very simply what this is.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: God wants of our daughters to be submissive, gentle, and quiet in the context of the family or in marriage and in the context of the church.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: Here's 1 Timothy 2.11.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: This contrasts the men's involvement in the church to the women's involvement in the church.
- 34:17SPEAKER_01: In 1 Timothy 2.11, we read, Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: So what is it to raise our daughters to be meek, submissive, and obedient?
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: Well, first we raise our daughters to yield to her father and mother, so that one day she will yield to her husband and to the authority in the church when she has grown up.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: And we do this because, well, she's to be meek and submissive and obedient and respect to her husband.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: And she is to learn in silence with all submission in the context of the church.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: She's not married, she should not have a controlling spirit or a Jezebel spirit as she interacts in the church.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: Now, children, ultimately, as you submit to your mother and father, and this applies to little boys and girls both, ultimately, when you set yourself against what your father or mother is telling you, you're not just rebelling against your parents, you're rebelling against God.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: All rebellion is against God.
- 35:29SPEAKER_01: And ultimately, all submission is submission to God.
- 35:32SPEAKER_01: When we submit to our mother and father, and we obey our mother and father, we are submitting to God.
- 35:38SPEAKER_01: We are obeying God.
- 35:41SPEAKER_01: Now, this meekness, submission, and obedience is seen in one major way, and that is by obeying father and mother.
- 35:51SPEAKER_01: And not complaining or developing some kind of inner resistance or angst, which happens with many of our little daughters.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: They have this inner turmoil and this pushing back, this inner resistance, resisting the voice of dad, resisting the authority of the church or whatever it is.
- 36:09SPEAKER_01: That's just inside, just fighting, fighting and fighting and resisting.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's not the way it should be.
- 36:15SPEAKER_01: It's a willing submission to the will of God and to the will of your authority that God has placed in your life.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: So the meek and the submissive woman is not recalcitrant.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: She's not unsubmissive.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: She's not uncooperative.
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: She doesn't drag her heels when she's told to do something.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: That would be, of course, within the business world.
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: That's no fun.
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: Managers whose employees are always dragging their heels, well, usually you fire them because they're just resistant and they don't really want to follow through on orders.
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: So you don't want that.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: We don't want resistant, uncooperative little girls in their response to mothers and fathers in the home.
- 36:59SPEAKER_01: Number two, she is not bossy with her father or her husband.
- 37:05SPEAKER_01: Number three, she is not argumentative and contentious.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: And as we find in Proverbs 21, 19 or verse 9.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: Prepare to or better to dwell in a corner of a housetop than in a house shared with a contentious woman.
- 37:19SPEAKER_01: In Proverbs 27, 15, a continual dripping on a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: Whoever restrains her restrains the wind and grasps oil with his right hand.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: This is the woman who's obnoxious, obstinate, contentious, and resistant, and does not cooperate.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: It's a terrible curse upon a family.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: Number four, the submissive young woman does not correct her husband or her father.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: And certainly, she will not do it in front of others.
- 37:54SPEAKER_01: Number five, she does not nag in a spirit of discontentment and whining.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: She's not e-dripping faucet.
- 38:01SPEAKER_01: Number six, she is not manipulative and controlling.
- 38:04SPEAKER_01: And then number seven, this is very key.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: This is the core of it.
- 38:08SPEAKER_01: She submits when she disagrees with the decision, or she finds the decision difficult or disagreeable, as long as it does not clearly violate God's law to follow through on the decision.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: In fact, God commends Sarah in this passage for obeying her husband and calling him master or lord, despite Abraham's hare-brained ideas.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: Now, it's also interesting that God blessed Abraham through all of it, and part of that could have been that Sarah was being so submissive throughout that entire process.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: Now, a number of years ago, we had an elderly woman come into this congregation.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: And this is one of the most remarkable experiences I think I've ever had in all of my ministry.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: She walked in here, you know who she is if you've attended here for a number of years.
- 38:58SPEAKER_01: She walked in here, she got saved.
- 39:02SPEAKER_01: And there was, now she had a PhD, she had several PhDs.
- 39:08SPEAKER_01: She was feminist, she was liberal, she was opinionated.
- 39:16SPEAKER_01: She would grab my head sometimes and hold me down for like 10 or 15 minutes and talk to me like this like this.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: My head and neck would get a kink in it.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: It was a very different kind of a situation, but God was doing a work in her life.
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: Now, here's the thing that stands out in my mind more than any other story.
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: I don't think any of you know about this.
- 39:37SPEAKER_01: But she had come to the decision that she wanted to do something that related to the church, and she met with the elders, and the elders here can remember the scene.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: We're sitting in here in the office over there, and she said, I want to do this thing.
- 39:55SPEAKER_01: And all three of us, or four or how many were there at the time, said, We don't think that's a good idea.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: There was a long pause.
- 40:10SPEAKER_01: She looked at us.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: And she said, brothers, God has put me in this congregation, and you are my pastors.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: And I will submit to you in this.
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: That was a miracle of God for one thing, right?
- 40:52SPEAKER_01: But that this woman would say that.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: Let me say this.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: That woman may be highly intelligent.
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: She may have an amazing strength of character.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: She may be stubborn in all the right ways.
- 41:06SPEAKER_01: She may be a tough, resilient pioneer woman.
- 41:08SPEAKER_01: She may be a biblical Abigail with a fortitude to stop a powerful man, a military man, from committing murder.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: But she submits.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: That's powerful.
- 41:21SPEAKER_01: That's strength of some of the highest order I have ever witnessed in my life.
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: She's a war horse.
- 41:29SPEAKER_01: But she submits to her father.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: She submits to her husband when she gets married.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: And now remember, the greatest act of submission in all of history, the greatest act of humility and meekness in all of history occurred in that Garden of Gethsemane, where the Son of God, the creator of the universe, the ruler of the world, submitted to his father in the most difficult circumstances anybody has ever faced.
- 41:57SPEAKER_01: He bowed the knee to the father in that moment, said, Sweating drops of blood on the ground.
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: You say you've been under pressure.
- 42:07SPEAKER_01: Have you been under pressure?
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: He's under this pressure.
- 42:11SPEAKER_01: And he says, Not my will, but thine be done.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: She called her husband master.
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: That kind of language is cursed by the high church of feminism, of course.
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: But Sarah obeyed her husband, calling him Lord.
- 42:45SPEAKER_01: Of such are you if you trust God without any terror.
- 42:53SPEAKER_01: We'll get to that in just a moment.
- 42:55SPEAKER_01: But let me hit some common scenarios very quickly that may or may not have relevance to your families as you raise these future ornamental, powerful, strong pillars in the household and the kingdom of God.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: Okay, just a couple of applications.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: I'm running through these briefly.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: Let's say you have a three-year-old daughter who refuses to obey mama and papa.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: You get the meltdown, the screaming and the no, no, no gig pretty much every day.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: I don't want anybody to say amen in here right now.
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: Now, we we get the immediate vision of what feminists look like in a three-year-old.
- 43:37SPEAKER_01: The last thing you want is that three-year-old getting raised up that way, and then they go and get married to somebody.
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: Like don't want that to ever happen.
- 43:47SPEAKER_01: But the key here, brothers and sisters, you've got to discipline it consistently.
- 43:53SPEAKER_01: Your little daughter is born with this sinful nature.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: She is a daughter of Eve, and that's how she's responding.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: And she is stubborn for her sin, her disobedience, and her rebellion.
- 44:05SPEAKER_01: But you've got to be more stubborn in your love for God.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: As a mom and dad, now again, this isn't a battle of control.
- 44:13SPEAKER_01: Maybe you should write that down.
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: Any of you moms want to write that down?
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: Any of you dads want to write that down?
- 44:21SPEAKER_01: Any of you ever feel like you're competing for control here?
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: It's not a battle for control.
- 44:28SPEAKER_01: It's that you fear God.
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: It's that you love God.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: It's that you need to speak the truth.
- 44:34SPEAKER_01: It's that you need to be stubbornly loving God, fearing God, standing up for truth, be stubbornly calm, stubbornly persistent, stubbornly speaking truth, stubbornly disciplining, always in love.
- 44:48SPEAKER_01: But you've got to be more stubborn than she is.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: I encourage dads to get involved.
- 44:56SPEAKER_01: Pray with her three, four, five, six times a day.
- 44:59SPEAKER_01: Don't just engage the problem when the problem reaches a head.
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: But be be proactive.
- 45:04SPEAKER_01: Start in the morning.
- 45:06SPEAKER_01: Pray with the little one in the morning before you leave.
- 45:09SPEAKER_01: Call from the office and pray with her three, four times throughout the day.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: Teach to the problem in 700 teaching moments over a period of two, three, four years.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: And bring the child to the elders.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: Have the elders pray over the child.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: We've had instances in which there was a pretty significant eruption in a home with a, I don't know, two, three, four-year-old.
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: And I got a call.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: This Dan was the one.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: Can you pray?
- 45:35SPEAKER_01: It's on speakerphone right now.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: Can you pray the powerful work of the Holy Spirit right now?
- 45:39SPEAKER_01: We need it in my little child.
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: And can you do this?
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: We need a miracle right now.
- 45:43SPEAKER_01: And Kevin, can you pray a miracle in my family right now for this little girl?
- 45:48SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 45:50SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: Let's give you another scenario.
- 45:54SPEAKER_01: 14-year-old daughter does not want to meet the standards of the home.
- 46:00SPEAKER_01: Whether it be dress standards or movie standards or whatever it is.
- 46:04SPEAKER_01: Now, ultimately, dad is responsible before God to set the standards in the home.
- 46:08SPEAKER_01: We know that.
- 46:10SPEAKER_01: Dad should apply the wisdom, the love, the courage, the faith, the understanding of the Word of God, etc., to lead in the home and make these decisions.
- 46:16SPEAKER_01: It's not for the church to step in and make your decisions for you.
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: This is for dad and mom, of course, in conversation, to work these things out, and then dad sets the standards.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: And let's say your 14 or 16-year-old daughter just says, hey, I disagree with this.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: I want to read books on the benefits of vampirism, witchcraft, women becoming gladiators.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: Because that's what the kind of stuff the girls in the homeschool co-op are doing, so I want to do the same thing.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: And Dad explains how these sorts of cultural practices, I mean be very careful that you don't just slam it and say, just because they're doing it, we don't do it, or something like that.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: But explain, be the teacher, be the prophet, to be the one who opens the word of God in the home and say, you know, there's a reason for this.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: The 1 Samuel 12, 17, 22, 17, 1 Samuel 14, 44, Exodus 1.15, Revelation 18, Acts 15, etc., etc.
- 47:13SPEAKER_01: This gladiator thing doesn't work.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: It doesn't really mix with 1 Samuel 22 17 or 1 Samuel 14 44.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: It this whole eating blood, consuming blood things, it runs right into Acts chapter 15.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: We can't do this.
- 47:25SPEAKER_01: Our family loves God.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: We don't celebrate the violation of his laws like the pagan tribes around us tend to do and have done for the last 6,000 years.
- 47:32SPEAKER_01: We just don't do this kind of stuff.
- 47:35SPEAKER_01: God's against it.
- 47:35SPEAKER_01: We fear God in this home.
- 47:37SPEAKER_01: We love God.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: We apply God's word in our home.
- 47:40SPEAKER_01: Now, suppose the daughter steadfastly rebels and refuses to submit.
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: Well, there's a number of things you can do.
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: Let me just throw out some of these things.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: The parents should seek counsel from spiritually mature, biblically grounded parents in the church.
- 47:57SPEAKER_01: Or they might bring their daughter to the elders.
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: We do that often, as I said.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: We sit down together, we pray over these things.
- 48:03SPEAKER_01: And in counseling, oftentimes we find there are wider issues, bigger issues, deeper issues going on.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: It's not, this isn't the only issue.
- 48:10SPEAKER_01: There's usually a few other things that we have to put into the mix, etc.
- 48:13SPEAKER_01: It's usually sins on everybody's part that we have to go walk through and talk through, etc., etc.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: Is there a lack of love in the house?
- 48:19SPEAKER_01: How are relationships going?
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: Is there sufficient communication between parents and teens?
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: What does that communication look like?
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: But at the end of the day, if the dad says, hey, we don't want books on vampirism, witchcraft, and women becoming gladiators in our house, he has a right to say that.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: And his daughter must submit to him.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: She must obey her father.
- 48:40SPEAKER_01: Now, suppose she refuses to obey her father, steadfastly opposes him in pride, in recalcitrance.
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: She refuses to repent.
- 48:49SPEAKER_01: She refuses to turn to Christ, to deal with her wild and unsubmissive heart.
- 48:53SPEAKER_01: What do we do with this?
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: Well, sadly, this has become the rule and not the exception in our world today.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: So many young women are leaving their families, leaving the church, etc., apostatizing from the faith.
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: It's just the reality of the world.
- 49:08SPEAKER_01: And so you oftentimes have the issue of emancipation, disfellowshipping.
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: That's sometimes just reality.
- 49:15SPEAKER_01: Sometimes there has to be a period of emancipation and just fellowship where she just has to leave the home.
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: Yes, that kind of thing has to happen.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: And in all of this, it's a test of the faith of our parents.
- 49:26SPEAKER_01: It's a test of faith for any of us to pray, to keep praying, to keep laying hold on God for the salvation of our children.
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: See, God's testing our faith.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: He's testing our love for Him.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: Do we love Him more than we love our daughters?
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: Do we believe that God is big enough for this?
- 49:43SPEAKER_01: Can He?
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: Will He do the mountain-moving project of changing the hearts of your daughters and your sons?
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: But, dads, be careful.
- 49:51SPEAKER_01: Don't just give in.
- 49:52SPEAKER_01: Don't give in to keep peace in the home.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: That's not loving God.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: That's not faith.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: That's not following through on your responsibilities.
- 49:59SPEAKER_01: You can't just let this go.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: God has not called you to raise feminists to submit to their husbands, or won't submit to their husbands as they get married, 10, 15 years from now.
- 50:12SPEAKER_01: Train your daughters in the gospel.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: Train your daughters in faith.
- 50:16SPEAKER_01: And I want to draw in this as we wrap up this morning.
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: That is verse 5 and 6 of our passage, 1 Peter 3, 5 and 6.
- 50:25SPEAKER_01: For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.
- 50:41SPEAKER_01: So here's what we teach our daughters.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: We teach them to trust God.
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: We teach them that to do the sorts of things that God has called us to do, to submit to the will of God in the very most difficult situations of our lives, we're going to have to trust in God.
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: We have to trust in his power.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: We have to trust in him working all things out for good in his own particular way that right now doesn't look very good.
- 51:06SPEAKER_01: We have to trust that Jesus Christ can give us the power to overcome this sinful inclination that's within our own hearts.
- 51:32SPEAKER_01: Teach your daughters to trust God, to fear God, and not to be afraid with any terror.
- 51:38SPEAKER_01: They submit to God because they trust God.
- 51:41SPEAKER_01: They submit to their husbands because they trust God, not because they trust their husbands or their fathers.
- 51:47SPEAKER_01: And not because they're going to be fearful.
- 52:08SPEAKER_01: So these holy women of God submit to God.
- 52:11SPEAKER_01: They submit to their husbands because they love God, because they trust in God.
- 52:16SPEAKER_01: Again, not because they trust their husbands.
- 52:18SPEAKER_01: Their husbands are going to make mistakes, their dads are going to make mistakes.
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: It may not work out very well the cause and effect relationship between what he's doing and what you think the effect is going to be.
- 52:31SPEAKER_01: You may perceive this to be a very dangerous kind of thing.
- 52:34SPEAKER_01: You may perceive it to be going the wrong direction.
- 52:37SPEAKER_01: You may, again, these are the gray areas.
- 52:39SPEAKER_01: We don't always know the pragmatic effect of any isolated cause.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: And so, but God does.
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: And God is able to make it all work out for good as you submit to him in this situation.
- 52:51SPEAKER_01: And my encouragement, again, is to submit in the gray area when it's obvious that he's telling you to rob a bank.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: If dad or a husband tells you to rob a bank, you say, no, we don't do that.
- 53:01SPEAKER_01: I can't do that.
- 53:02SPEAKER_01: I love God.
- 53:02SPEAKER_01: I trust God.
- 53:03SPEAKER_01: I fear God.
- 53:05SPEAKER_01: And I can't submit to this order to disobey God's law.
- 53:08SPEAKER_01: But if your father is saying we're going to have pizza every Friday night, and you went onto the internet and found out that pizza is bad for you, especially if you do it once a week.
- 53:18SPEAKER_01: If you do it once a year, it would be fine.
- 53:20SPEAKER_01: But if you do it once a week, you'll die by the time you're 27 years of old old.
- 53:24SPEAKER_01: You found this article and you're so convinced that it's unhealthy to eat pizza.
- 53:28SPEAKER_01: Yet your dad is saying, We're having pizza every Friday night in the gray area.
- 53:33SPEAKER_01: You've got to submit to your dad.
- 53:36SPEAKER_01: You've got to submit to your husband in these areas.
- 53:40SPEAKER_01: But they submit not because they trust their husbands, but because they trust God.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: They fear God, they reverence God.
- 53:47SPEAKER_01: They're not rebels.
- 53:48SPEAKER_01: These are holy women of God, submitting to God, and thereby submitting to the authorities that God has placed in their life.
- 53:56SPEAKER_01: Proverbs 31 again presents the vision.
- 53:58SPEAKER_01: Strength and honor are her clothing.
- 54:00SPEAKER_01: She shall rejoice in time to come.
- 54:02SPEAKER_01: She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.
- 54:07SPEAKER_01: She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.
- 54:11SPEAKER_01: Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.
- 54:20SPEAKER_01: Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain.
- 54:23SPEAKER_01: But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
- 54:26SPEAKER_01: Give her the fruit of her hands, let her own works praise her in the gates.
- 54:30SPEAKER_01: I've heard people say before, that's just a pie in the sky impossibility.
- 54:35SPEAKER_01: Whatever is presented in Proverbs 31 is so beyond me, I don't even bother reading it.
- 54:41SPEAKER_01: I've heard this said, not recently, but years ago.
- 54:44SPEAKER_01: Remember, people say we just pass over Proverbs 31.
- 54:47SPEAKER_01: Because it's so unrealistic.
- 54:49SPEAKER_01: It just doesn't, it's just something that's totally unachievable.
- 54:54SPEAKER_01: But brothers and sisters, this is possible.
- 54:57SPEAKER_01: This has happened.
- 54:58SPEAKER_01: These women exist.
- 55:00SPEAKER_01: My mother, 90 years old, she's an exemplar of the Proverbs 31 woman.
- 55:05SPEAKER_01: She is.
- 55:07SPEAKER_01: My own mother.
- 55:08SPEAKER_01: And I can tell you that with all the sincerity and I think the truthfulness of my heart that my mother is an exemplar of this passage.
- 55:19SPEAKER_01: It is possible.
- 55:21SPEAKER_01: This is possible by the grace of God.
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: I know it's a miracle.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: It's like walking on water.
- 55:25SPEAKER_01: It's like raising the dead, but that's the kind of thing that God does.
- 55:29SPEAKER_01: We can become these sorts of things by the grace of God.
- 55:33SPEAKER_01: God raises the dead.
- 55:34SPEAKER_01: God gives you a new heart.
- 55:35SPEAKER_01: God gives you the faith, the trust in God and the storms of the trial and the crucible of the fire.
- 55:41SPEAKER_01: God gives you these things.
- 55:43SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 55:44SPEAKER_01: Close an application.
- 55:46SPEAKER_01: Here we go.
- 55:46SPEAKER_01: Just a couple of quick applications for various persons, especially as we deal with this dragon that has got its claws upon our culture today.
- 55:55SPEAKER_01: Number one, pastors.
- 55:57SPEAKER_01: To pastors, I say this.
- 55:59SPEAKER_01: The sin of feminism is one that needs to be shepherded, disciplined, held accountable to.
- 56:06SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 56:07SPEAKER_01: There needs to be high levels of accountability on this terrible, destructive sin for the family.
- 56:14SPEAKER_01: If people throw off the accountability on one of the most destructive sins in our world today, there's not much you can do about it.
- 56:23SPEAKER_01: Not much you can do about it.
- 56:25SPEAKER_01: The world is more than happy to take them in to whatever organization they want to join out there.
- 56:31SPEAKER_01: But if they come to a Christian church, we need to be asking questions.
- 56:37SPEAKER_01: How's it going with the submission to your husband?
- 56:40SPEAKER_01: How's it going with the submission to your father?
- 56:44SPEAKER_01: Number two, dads.
- 56:47SPEAKER_01: Dads, don't countenance an argumentative and resistant spirit without calling it out.
- 56:52SPEAKER_01: Now you don't get angry, but you can call it out.
- 56:56SPEAKER_01: You can just simply say, honey, I'm sensing an argumentative and resistant spirit right now.
- 57:01SPEAKER_01: Which is not healthy.
- 57:02SPEAKER_01: It's not healthy for good communication.
- 57:05SPEAKER_01: It doesn't communicate love, respect, hoping all things, bearing all things, believing all things.
- 57:10SPEAKER_01: It's just almost this constant pushback.
- 57:13SPEAKER_01: I'm feeling it right now.
- 57:15SPEAKER_01: And then maybe ask her, is you got something like that happening right now in your heart?
- 57:18SPEAKER_01: Is it something going on there?
- 57:21SPEAKER_01: Help your daughters to communicate in the right way, asking questions, being respectful, affirming truth when it's spoken, piggybacking with scripture, speaking God's word in Bible time.
- 57:31SPEAKER_01: That's all good.
- 57:32SPEAKER_01: Teach them how to do that kind of thing, how to communicate well.
- 57:35SPEAKER_01: Not with this uncooperative, resistant kind of spirit.
- 57:39SPEAKER_01: All disobedience should be corrected when it's obvious.
- 57:43SPEAKER_01: And if there's chafing against the rules, point it out.
- 57:47SPEAKER_01: Say, honey, I think you're chafing against the rules.
- 57:50SPEAKER_01: Get the sense you don't like it.
- 57:53SPEAKER_01: No, just be honest.
- 57:54SPEAKER_01: Let's get it on the table.
- 57:55SPEAKER_01: Let's talk about it here.
- 57:57SPEAKER_01: Don't countenance the manipulating spirit.
- 58:00SPEAKER_01: Manipulation is something that's happens in relationships so much today.
- 58:05SPEAKER_01: It really is a lying spirit.
- 58:08SPEAKER_01: Manipulative spirit is a lying spirit.
- 58:11SPEAKER_01: There's stuff going on under the table, and we're going to bring it out onto the table.
- 58:14SPEAKER_01: We're going to speak the truth.
- 58:16SPEAKER_01: Don't respond to anger and control with, as I said, more anger and control.
- 58:21SPEAKER_01: Don't do that.
- 58:22SPEAKER_01: It doesn't do any good.
- 58:24SPEAKER_01: It just gives a bad example.
- 58:25SPEAKER_01: And then she plays off with that and says, Oh, is that the way we're supposed to do it?
- 58:28SPEAKER_01: Well, I can do it better than you, and you know, and on and on it goes.
- 58:32SPEAKER_01: So don't play that game at all.
- 58:34SPEAKER_01: When daughters treat their fathers with bossiness and control, dads should point it out and say, that's disrespectful.
- 58:42SPEAKER_01: That's a sin against God.
- 58:43SPEAKER_01: I cannot respond to your wishes in this when you're acting that way.
- 58:48SPEAKER_01: Manipulation is lying, it's dissimulation.
- 58:51SPEAKER_01: We should love without hypocrisy, the Bible says.
- 58:54SPEAKER_01: A father should point it out and say, hey, I'm not approving this manipulation here.
- 58:58SPEAKER_01: I'm not complying with this because it's a sin against God.
- 59:02SPEAKER_01: I'm just not going to approve the manipulation and game playing going on right now.
- 59:08SPEAKER_01: Sometimes there are major offenses going on in the home that's breaking up our relationship.
- 59:13SPEAKER_01: We need to be aware of these sorts of things.
- 59:15SPEAKER_01: And now that may be happening with the parents as well.
- 59:18SPEAKER_01: And remember, relationships break down, sometimes not some major offense, but a thousand little nitpickies, sarcastic comments, angry words, arguments, disrespectful attitudes that just chip, chip, chip away in the relationship until finally you're just going to have to blow up the whole house and everybody goes their separate ways, and that's the end of relationship.
- 59:41SPEAKER_01: Now, again, by God's grace, Jesus came to reconcile relationships by first reconciling us with Him and then reconciling us with each other.
- 59:51SPEAKER_01: But address the sins early on.
- 59:54SPEAKER_01: If parents are not addressing the sins when their daughters are three, four, five, six, seven years of age, it's likely you're going to have to emancipate your daughter at 16, 17, or 18 years of age.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_01: And God have mercy on her future marriage and the man who wants to marry her.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_01: To what extent should a father go to maintain a relationship with a daughter who's holding the relationship hostage to her desires in control?
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_01: Well, let me say this.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_01: That dad has got to speak the truth and correct his daughter as long as she is in the home.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_01: The rod is essential in the process, but again, age will limit that.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_01: But that dad is called to continue to be faithful in speaking the truth no matter what happens.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_01: And again, once you approach a point of broken relationship, and this thing is off the rails, you need to take it to the elders, get some counsel, and uh and you may have to make some tough decisions.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_01: Speak to moms for a moment.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_01: Moms, you're the best example of submission your daughters will ever see.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_01: You're also probably the best at detecting manipulation control on the part of your daughters.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_01: If you're a daughter of Eve yourself, you'd recognize it sooner than your husband would.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: Now you should also obey your husband.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_01: Wives, obey your husbands and repent before your children when you have given way to all of these things we've talked about here: the nagging, the bossiness, the argumentative approach, the contention, the manipulation, the controlling, the correction of your husband in front of others, etc.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_01: You need to be repenting of those sorts of things.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_01: And repent before the people with whom you committed the sin.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_01: So, you know, bring it out in front of your children.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_01: Say that, you know what?
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_01: I I'm growing in this myself.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_01: I'm struggling through this myself.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_01: And then, of course, you should correct your daughter when you see disobedience, manipulation, and clear signs of that rebel heart.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_01: Now, let me speak to the older sisters in the church today.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_01: This is really going to be critical because I think this is what needs to happen in our churches.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_01: Older sisters, we absolutely need you to teach the younger sisters to obey their husbands.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_01: We so need you to do this.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_01: It's your job to do it.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_01: You're to teach them to love their husbands, to love their children.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_01: And yes, Titus 2 adds one more thing: obey their husbands.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_01: We need the older sister to do this.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_01: And if you need to engage Matthew 18 with younger women, you absolutely need to do this.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_01: Testify to your own struggles.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_01: Call the younger women to repentance in a calm and loving way.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_01: And you may have to take two or three with you.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_01: But don't gossip about it.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_01: Don't tell people about the controlling woman in the church.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_01: If you're sure of a sin with a sister, go to your sister.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_01: You have a responsibility before the Lord Jesus Christ to confront the sister with that sin.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_01: I know it's hard.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_01: I know you may lose a friend if she's proud, rebellious, and will not humbly receive your counsel.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_01: But Jesus tells you, go and tell her the fault between you and her alone.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_01: If she hears you, you have gained your sister.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_01: But if she will not hear you, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_01: And if she refuses to hear them, tell it to the church.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_01: And if she refuses even to hear the church, let her be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_01: This is Jesus' way of doing these things.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_01: It's not to sit around and talk about how bad people are behind their backs.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_01: We go directly to them.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: We confess our own struggles to our brothers and our sisters, and then we bring it to them and see that they will do the same thing.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_01: Now let me end with this, young men.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_01: I have way more to say to you next week.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_01: But for now, let me say this to young men.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_01: Do not marry a Jezebel.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_01: Whatever you do, do not marry a feminist.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_01: A controlling, manipulative woman.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_01: If you do, more than likely, you'll pay for it for the rest of your life.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_01: But what should you do?
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_01: Fear God yourself.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_01: And marry a woman who fears God.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_01: Charm is deceitful.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_01: Beauty is vain.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_01: But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_01: Your number one criteria you are looking for, young men and a woman and a wife is a woman who fears the Lord.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_01: And of course, has learned that submission to the Lord by the concrete application of how she submits to her father in the home.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_01: Ask her dad.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_01: How does she submit to you?
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_01: Ask her that qu ask him that question.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_01: It's a huge question.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_01: Your future depends on it.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_01: The problem in all of this is pride.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_01: You know, if you're to boil it all down, what is it?
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_01: What's the big problem with all of us?
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_01: That's why this is 100%, guys.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_01: This applies to little boys and girls, obeying their mom and dad.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_01: But the pride issue certainly applies to all of us.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_01: Every one of us.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_01: And so as I bring this message to you, brothers and sisters, I'm not pointing at anybody.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_01: I'm pointing all five fingers back at myself.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_01: That's the way we need to deal with these sorts of things.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_01: Even when we're helping our brother or our sister, it's to try to get the little speck out of their eye.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_01: We're trying to help them along a little bit.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_01: It's not about judging them, it's about helping them along the way.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_01: That's the thing we want to do.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_01: And we do it by humility.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_01: We do it by admitting our own struggles, our own sins.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_01: This should be an environment in which we're not really doing all that much Matthew 18 because we're doing a ton of James 5.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, if we're a congregation where 98% of the women in this congregation are saying, man, I'm struggling with this.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_01: I want to confess it.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_01: I've had this spirit rising up in me against my dad or against my husband.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_01: And I'm just 98% of the women in the congregation doing that.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_01: We're not going to be doing hardly any Matthew 18 anytime soon.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_01: We're just doing a whole bunch of humble confession before one another on the things that we are struggling with more than anything else.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_01: And certainly the pride of life affects the feminist woman and the man to everybody in this congregation, everybody by nature, everybody by the temptation of the world.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_01: It's 100% of all of us.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_01: We're either affected by pride by 70%, 80%, 90%, 99%, 99.9999%, whatever.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_01: We are affected by this thing called pride.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_01: And so let me end with this.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_01: What do you have to be proud about?
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_01: I asked a brother this just, I think it was yesterday or it's the day before.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_01: And I asked myself the same question, right?
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_01: What do you have to be proud about?
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_01: Sister, what do you have to be proud about?
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_01: What do I have to be proud about?
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_01: I'm a hell-deserving sinner by nature.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_01: That's who I am by nature.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_01: So let's all humble ourselves before the cross of Jesus Christ under the mighty hand of God.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_01: Let's receive the grace of Jesus.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_01: Every day realizing the chief of sinners, undeserving of the blood of Jesus Christ, that now covers me, and I'm saved by his grace, and I did nothing, nothing to earn it, but I've got eternity in heaven forever.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_01: No hell for me.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_01: By the grace of God, I have every reason in the world to be humbled by that very fact.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_01: And so now we can approach one another and we can grow together in mortifying these sins and getting on with the Christian life.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_01: Amen and amen.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_01: Our Father God, we thank you for your word.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_01: Thank you for directing us by the light of your word.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_01: Thank you for the gospel.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_01: The hope of the gospel that, yes, we sin, but God, there's a covering.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_01: We sin, but there's forgiveness.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_01: We sin, but there's a power that works in us to change our heart, our life, and enable us to walk in newness of life every day.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_01: We have the hope of the gospel here today.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_01: We're not gonna be somehow depressed over the fact that we've got sin, but no, we are gonna be exalting in the fact that we are filled, we are blessed, we are enabled, we are empowered by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_01: And we're sin abounding today.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_01: Grace is gonna much more abound.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_01: In Jesus' name, amen.
