- 0:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Hi everyone, it's Justin Voices for Voices.
- 0:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Thank you for joining us.
- 0:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You can do us big favors, give us a thumbs up, like, follow, subscribe, share, reshare, repost, word of mouth.
- 0:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you don't have your phone out, and if you do have your phone out, please share the Voices for Voices podcast with maybe 25, 50, or 100 of your contacts.
- 0:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That'd greatly appreciate us.
- 0:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, we'd be greatly appreciated of you if you could do any one of those things, and they're all free to do.
- 0:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So thank you very much for joining us.
- 0:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, we are uh rocking and rolling, and speaking of rocking and rolling, um, Ella Langley choosing Texas song just hit 23 weeks uh on the US Billboard 100, uh, overtaking Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas at twenty two non-consecutive weeks.
- 1:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And you may be wondering what that has to do with mental health, and I got that answer for you.
- 1:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So Ella actually has uh imposter syndrome, and so she was she's been talking about that, she's a Christian, also talking about that, which are are things that uh a lot of people don't want to talk about.
- 1:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh Ella's, you know, Christian, and she has been uh outspoken about those um those mental health struggles.
- 2:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So she has depression and imposter syndrome, which if you look back a couple episodes uh before this, you'll see just that episode on imposter syndrome.
- 2:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh she does now uh reside in Tennessee, where she grew up in Alabama.
- 2:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and the reason why we're talking about this isn't for the fame at all.
- 2:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What what what we're talking about is the part where she comes out where a lot of people don't and won't uh you know talk about personal struggles and things that are very personal in nature.
- 3:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it's okay if we don't we don't have to.
- 3:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Nobody's making us talk about that.
- 3:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Now we do, we talk about that, I talk about it a lot.
- 3:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh for me, uh, the organization, voices for voices, and to see an individual, an artist, a musician, a songwriter, uh plays the guitar, sings, and to be at that spot at twenty three weeks at number one on the uh Bill Ward top one hundred songs, and here she is talking just like a regular person, and I think that's probably maybe a big draw to uh you know having her just down to earth talking about normal things that whether whether we speak them, whether we uh sign them in sign language, uh however we share that it's hard.
- 4:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And she's not using, and Elle is not using fame to do anything except be herself, where she is almost kind of in awe of you know these records and not just the records, the music records, but that the records, you know, being at number one, um, to be able to talk about that is huge.
- 5:19Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It it's it's big, and so that's why it garnered our attention that we should amplify that, we should continue to share that for people that didn't know, and whether you like her music or not, to have somebody openly talking about that.
- 5:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um I have depression as you well know, unless this is your first episode, so I do have depression, so that kind of linked with me uh, you know, having depression, talking about it.
- 6:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I have depression, I talk about it.
- 6:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, she talks about imposter syndrome.
- 6:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We talk about that in a previous episode, and I think to a degree I have imposter syndrome that by no means that I am trying to take anybody's fame or record away.
- 6:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're talking at a human level, a human level.
- 6:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like be you know, being a musician and spending that many weeks at number one and still going, uh that doesn't really matter to us.
- 6:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What matters is that we're getting the word out, and Ella Langley is helping get the word out herself, and so that's one of the huge reasons why we're doing this episode.
- 7:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Secondly, a lot of people question us about will you talk about you want to reach and help three billion people over your lifetime and beyond, and that's just a silly goal to have.
- 7:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And what Ella's proving is it's possible.
- 7:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, how many how many years ago was All I Want for Christmas by Mariah Carey?
- 8:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: When when was that when was that record?
- 8:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I I don't know.
- 8:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It doesn't really matter, but it wasn't like yesterday.
- 8:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Who looks like you know came from just a regular household, regular normal household, as normal as normal can be, and now she's on top, and yet still talks about her having depression, imposter syndrome, and that she's a Christian.
- 9:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I think it's important for us to find parallels in life.
- 9:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so Ella Langley for us is a parallel.
- 9:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, does not have some royal upbringing.
- 9:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: She just sings, plays the guitar, writes songs.
- 9:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: She mentions that she wrote chews in Texas at a like a songwriter's retreat.
- 9:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think of uh you know the going to a location that's you know kind of away from the big city and and that that's how choosing Texas came came to be.
- 10:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So whether you like choosing Texas, whether you you don't, I mean this is just the show that when Ella's growing up, I think it says uh you know the research, I think it's twenty-seven years old.
- 10:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, we all have we all have hopes and dreams.
- 10:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I I'm guessing, I don't know.
- 10:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm guessing that of course she wanted to be one of the best people and best musicians in the world.
- 11:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That would be a very uh it'd be a goal that that one could get behind.
- 11:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then we talk, we talk about how we want to do this huge goal, and we're on our way.
- 11:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're gonna do it of reaching and helping at least three billion people over the course of my lifetime and beyond.
- 11:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Starts with a goal, and then you gotta have that passion behind it.
- 11:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Choose in Texas wasn't Ella's first song that she ever wrote and performed, and we can't, and we couldn't reach three billion people on our first episode.
- 12:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We didn't have you know some royal background or some hugely popular celebrity upbringing that gives us a boost.
- 12:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We we didn't have that, and we don't have that.
- 12:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so we're just regular folks, regular people, and we want to help people.
- 12:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So if Ella Langley could take her story and take it to the top for twenty-three weeks in a shorter time than what it took Mariah Carey.
- 12:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It took her two, I think it I think it took her two seasons.
- 13:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I guess two two Christmas seasons.
- 13:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Whereas Choosing Texas came out, I think November of 2025, and we're we're not even a we're we're in September right now when we're filming this, September of 2026, so that's less than a year that Ella is able to do this.
- 13:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But just because Ella was able to accomplish and still accomplish and reach feats and be nominated and voted different awards.
- 13:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We have to find what works for us, what we want to do.
- 14:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Of what what what's going on with the with the billboard list, top one hundred.
- 14:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But yeah, she just wants to play music and sing, play music and sing.
- 14:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So she was doing it before she was on and broke the Mariah Carrey's record, and she's gonna do it after, after her number one run ends.
- 14:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that that that again parallels voices for voices that taking a heck of a lot of work, time, energy, finances to get to be where we're we're at over five hundred and eighty episodes.
- 15:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, it's you know, if you like I said, if you had asked me two years ago, three years ago, I would have had a goal that yeah, we're gonna be crushing it.
- 15:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Meaning that we're doing great, we're doing great work, we're sharing it, people are watching, people are listening.
- 15:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They're letting people know.
- 15:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so I'm a little bit in awe of that.
- 16:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so at some point it it may go back to, I guess, being normal where we're not growing at the rate that we're growing.
- 16:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that's okay.
- 16:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know what's a lot to me for downloads and subscribers and listeners and viewers may not be a lot to some people or a lot of people.
- 16:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They may say, that's nothing.
- 16:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's all you've had download and view.
- 16:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I and and that that's okay.
- 16:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: First amendment strong here, United States, U.S.
- 16:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: citizen, which I am.
- 17:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So appreciate opinions, but we have a lot of work to do as an organization, personally, etc.
- 17:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: A lot of work to do.
- 17:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So again, what's a lot to you isn't what's a lot to me.
- 17:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It can be, it can be similar with somebody saying, Oh, we don't have a million downloads or a million subscribers or five million, and you're talking about three billion, reaching three billion and helping three billion people.
- 18:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's okay.
- 18:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's okay where where we're at and what trajectory we're on.
- 18:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You gotta be in it because you want it, because you're passionate, and that's where we're at.
- 18:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I would take that, I am taking that any day of the week over not having a passion, just doing another thing, checking another box, and having these huge gargantua numbers as we sit here today.
- 19:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Any day of the week I would take passion.
- 19:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Cause I wouldn't know that the next day woke up, we'd have that passion still.
- 19:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And not like some of us do with our gym memberships, we're start them in January and then by February we're we don't have time and whatever whatever the excuses we stop going.
- 19:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Go less frequently.
- 19:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Or have the person starts going to the gym and just doing a little bit and then the next time doing a little bit.
- 20:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's what I would prefer.
- 20:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's what I try to do.
- 20:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's not what I try, I am doing.
- 20:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So passion over.
- 20:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I guess I I don't know, a new word needs to be invented.
- 20:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um so we want to say congratulations to Ella Langley hitting another record, the record twenty-three weeks on the top one hundred at number one.
- 21:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And just think about that.
- 21:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: All the music, all the artists that are out there, takes a lot.
- 21:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's like going through the woods or going through cob, you know, spider webs, or you know, watching out so we don't trip over something.
- 21:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Driving in a car, make sure we're backing up and making sure that the coast is clear.
- 21:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I also want to thank Ella Langley for opening up and talking about being a Christian and that you also have mental health struggles like I do.
- 22:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We both have depression.
- 22:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You have imposter syndrome.
- 22:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I'm pretty sure I do too.
- 22:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's not.
- 22:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Hasn't been formally diagnosed for me.
- 22:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But when we were doing our episode the other day on imposter syndrome, a lot of those, a lot of those areas, I kind of checked the box, the boxes on, like, oh, okay.
- 22:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But it's okay.
- 22:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're all individuals.
- 22:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're all doing the best we can.
- 22:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And we're only on Earth for a very small amount of time in the grand scheme of things.
- 22:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We look at 2,000 years.
- 23:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Average life expected.
- 23:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think it's in the 70s.
- 23:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it's just a f percent.
- 23:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's a low percentage of the time that we're here on earth versus the years that have passed.
- 23:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So thank you again for joining us on this episode of the show.
- 23:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We are extremely grateful for you, for everyone joining us.
- 23:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You can give us thumbs up, like, follow, subscribe, share, reshare, repost, word of mouth, get that phone out if it's not already out.
- 23:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Share the Voices for Voices podcast with maybe 25, 50, 100, 200 contacts.
- 24:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And with your help, we will reach 3 billion people.
- 24:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And we will help 3 billion people over the course of my lifetime and beyond.
- 24:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And last but not least, congratulations, Ella Langley, on your huge accomplishment.
- 24:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And wish you many, many, many, many more days of passion fulfilled, fulfillment of your music and all the things that you want to accomplish as a human being.
- 24:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And thank you for talking about mental health, your mental health, and depression and imposter syndrome, and being a Christian.
- 25:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Till next time, let's celebrate the voices of everyone in the world.
- 25:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And let's be a voice for not just ourselves, but there might be somebody that could use a little help sharing their voice.
- 25:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that person may be in heaven.
- 25:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it's up to us to share that voice, those voices.
- 25:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Have a great day.
- 25:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We'll see you on the next episode.
- 25:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Bye bye for now.
