- 0:00There's a double agent working against you right now.
- 0:04There's a story behind that. This is your daily message from
- 0:08Chad #1186 to upgrade your mental game today by telling
- 0:12yourself a better story. Because the most important story
- 0:14you hear is the story you tell yourself.
- 0:17This message is dedicated to Owen Fitzpatrick, whose new book
- 0:20planted the seed for today's story.
- 0:22Here's the upgrade. You tell yourself that you have
- 0:26your best interests in mind, but upgraded thinking understands
- 0:28you are a double crosser. Here's the story.
- 0:33The most famous double agent of the 20th century never set foot
- 0:37on a single battlefield. His name was Juan Pujol Garcia.
- 0:41The British called him Garbo. The Germans called him Alaric.
- 0:45Pujol wanted to fight the Nazis. British intelligence turned him
- 0:50down, so he walked into the German embassy in Madrid and
- 0:53talked his way into becoming one of their spies in Britain.
- 0:57Except he'd never been to Britain.
- 0:59He ran the whole operation from a desk in Lisbon, using tourist
- 1:03maps and newspaper clippings to invent a network of British
- 1:06agents who didn't exist. 2727 of them, eventually complete with
- 1:13names, families, arguments, expense reports.
- 1:16He even reported one of them dying and the Germans mourned
- 1:19him. When British intelligence
- 1:22finally caught on, they didn't arrest him, they hired him.
- 1:26And on the eve of D-Day, Garbo went to work on the German high
- 1:30command. Night after night he fed Berlin
- 1:32a story. Normandy is the decoy.
- 1:35The real invasion is still coming at Calais.
- 1:38Hold your divisions there, They believed him in German tank
- 1:42divisions sat parked at Calais for weeks after the Normandy
- 1:46landing had already begun, waiting for an invasion that was
- 1:49never coming, because the story in their heads was more
- 1:52convincing than the war in front of them.
- 1:54Germany gave Pejol the Iron Cross.
- 1:57Britain gave him the MBE, Member of the Order of the British
- 2:01Empire, an honor awarded by the King for outstanding
- 2:03achievement. He fooled both sides so
- 2:06completely that when he died in 1988, most people had never
- 2:10heard of him. This message was prompted by a
- 2:14new book I'm going through by Owen Fitzpatrick titled Inner
- 2:17Propaganda. The brain is not a neutral
- 2:21observer of reality, but a double agent that manufacturers
- 2:25reality for good or I'll. Your brain prioritizes safety
- 2:30and stability even over your success.
- 2:33It generates stories and predictions that shape what you
- 2:36notice, feel, and accept as quote truth.
- 2:39This is your inner propagandist who wants to double cross you.
- 2:45The same tactics that spies, regimes, and media use for
- 2:49external propaganda is at work inside your mind.
- 2:52Do you recognize your own internal propaganda?
- 2:56This is the premise of these daily messages.
- 2:59The most powerful story in the world is the one you tell
- 3:01yourself. This is the thesis of
- 3:04Fitzpatrick's book Inner Propaganda.
- 3:07You've got a Garbo running inside your own head, and he's
- 3:10not trying to deceive an enemy. He's managing you.
- 3:14He'll invent a whole network of reasons you can't, reasons you
- 3:17shouldn't, reasons it's not the right time, all fabricated, all
- 3:22convincing, all built for one purpose, to keep his side safe
- 3:26and make the other side lose the war.
- 3:29The better story to tell yourself is my mind is running a
- 3:33campaign on me and I don't have to believe every report it
- 3:37files. Here's your next step.
- 3:40Download the free PDF of my book, The Most Powerful Story in
- 3:43the World, and start training your brain with the Mindset
- 3:46acrostic today. You can get it at from

- 3:54caught your own mind lying to you.
- 3:56Send it to from chadsmith at gmailcom.
- 3:59Send someone a text right now and ask them what's the story
- 4:02you've been telling yourself that might not be true.
