- 0:01Oh, and welcome to another episode of Christian Ruth
- 0:04podcast. Today's guest hell is all the
- 0:06way from Canada, so I think I believe he's my first Canadian
- 0:09guest ever. That's right.
- 0:12Yes, so yeah, we really trying out all of the world as we go of
- 0:17all of these podcasts and I'm happy to say that Christopher
- 0:21James guest today is also a fellow podcaster and he saw
- 0:25recently got into this in. So in the last couple of months
- 0:28or so you've actually amassed quite a Few episodes in that
- 0:30time. Yeah so I feel that I can very
- 0:33much kind of relate to you on this because when closing in on
- 0:3840 episodes with the podcast so far for myself.
- 0:41But you know it's it's not so much about quantity, it's always
- 0:46about quality and you know, finding people finding the right
- 0:49topics so on and so forth. But what I really want to know
- 0:53before we sort of get into anything else is hello and
- 0:57welcome to the show. How are you doing?
- 1:01I'm doing what I'm doing. Well, I mean I just came back
- 1:03from shopping, so kind of It kind of sweaty because that's
- 1:06kind of warm today, for almost winter in Canada, is that even
- 1:11possible by simply? Yes, it's on.
- 1:13If I check the degrees on my phone real quick, it is, oh God.
- 1:17That's not great. That's Instagram.
- 1:19It is currently 18 degrees Celsius.
- 1:23Only another to Celsius, to all, you know, more or I'm happy with
- 1:28Celsius in what they are. We're normally precise measuring
- 1:34temperature. We have Fahrenheit, but whether
- 1:37it's like Celsius is that yeah. All right.
- 1:39Yeah, right. Right.
- 1:40That, that would that. That makes actually way more
- 1:42sense than what? Yeah, hang on.
- 1:45That's what we do as well. What we're talking about?
- 1:46Yeah, that makes sense. That, that is the way everyone
- 1:49else should do it. This whole, oh, it's nice.
- 1:53It's like, it's like, 72 degrees Fahrenheit today.
- 1:56It's like 72 degrees with Martin, that Celsius some 72
- 2:00degrees Celsius. Holy crap, that's death.
- 2:03I thought he'd like to bike or kid.
- 2:07I hated by can go up to about 50 or 60 apparently degrees Celsius
- 2:15Jesus. Yeah, it's the sort of weather
- 2:17from what I've heard from people.
- 2:19I know that have lived there is that when it gets that hot, you
- 2:23can't go outside. You physically.
- 2:25Can't you have to like stay inside and kind of wait until
- 2:27the temperature drops to a kind of of safe amount which is nuts
- 2:32to me. And I feel like if it ever gets
- 2:36like 50 degrees Celsius in Canada and we nobody would be
- 2:39going out decider. You're inside with air
- 2:41conditioning on and just staying cool or basic.
- 2:44That's it because I feel like if you have a pool the water will
- 2:46start to get hot and that's not good in the summer but it's not
- 2:50the summer now it's like fall almost winter at this point and
- 2:5418 degrees because you it is surprising to me because I think
- 2:58Canada is always Generally known for like the amount of snow that
- 3:02you have, and that kind of weather.
- 3:04So it's interesting to hear obviously the reverse and it
- 3:07does make sense because obviously, you know, with
- 3:09America is such a massive continent, but Canada is a
- 3:11pretty large and America. Central America is a country,
- 3:16the confidence, North America, that's what I mean.
- 3:19Yeah, basically, it's a country and a continent.
- 3:21Yeah. Well, it depends.
- 3:24I mean if like, when I'm in my head, I'm thinking of North
- 3:27America when I said North America be the whole it.
- 3:30All of America was here takes into account nothing so yeah,
- 3:33yeah. But it's interesting to me to
- 3:37hear that kind of contrast in the summer versus the winter and
- 3:41so on because I was in the UK we do have quite a hot summer but
- 3:45it's Typically, it's always kind of been like certain periods and
- 3:50the rest of the time. It's either a really rainy or
- 3:52its kind of muggy. I'll be the best way I can put
- 3:56it. Yeah.
- 3:58Anyway, our summers I think I can do some of the things are
- 4:03slowly starting to get harder and harder each year.
- 4:06And I think the most we've ever hit like either, like dirty, I
- 4:10think we've had 30 plus well, she has a point.
- 4:13I don't remember much because summers are nice.
- 4:16Like, To the point that you're sweating.
- 4:19But it's nice because it's mostly cold.
- 4:22It's the same. It's the same in the UK.
- 4:25The weather is, I'd say in the last 15 years has changed
- 4:27dramatically and it's kind of nice on one hand, but also very
- 4:32worrying. So it's like, okay, this is
- 4:35great. But what about in 30 years, you
- 4:38know? I mean it's it's gonna get
- 4:39really bad, it's already bad. But yeah, anyway, I just want to
- 4:46keep this This one candidate for the time.
- 4:49Being given the news that we've just literally just got now,
- 4:53obviously in America, they've just decided decided on their
- 4:56presidential elects its Joe Biden.
- 4:59Finally got Trump out of four days, but I know it's something.
- 5:03It's kind of crazy how long it took, but I suppose it's one of
- 5:06those situations where you do want to be sure when you've got
- 5:09a guy like Donald Trump in office, it's you want to make
- 5:12sure you know there's no sort of going back and it does seem like
- 5:15there's an overwhelming kind of Jarrah tea but bringing focusing
- 5:21it on yourself and guess what? Canadian perspective I wanted to
- 5:24ask sort of what your thoughts on it were because obviously,
- 5:28you've got a very different government in place and it seems
- 5:32a lot more. I would say, maybe liberal maybe
- 5:36is the right word to use, it's there's there's various things
- 5:40that been passed over the years in Canada that suggests a very
- 5:43different way of living and almost the kind of ideally
- 5:46idyllic way of living soul. Example, some of the things I
- 5:49know have been passed in Canada in the last say, five, ten years
- 5:53include marijuana usage, I believe.
- 5:56And also I believe you have a law now for for gender.
- 6:01So if someone identifies with in sort of like a third gender, I
- 6:07don't know how you put category, should we say, then people have
- 6:11to kind of respect that and if they don't there's issues with
- 6:14that. So it's kind of a thing that
- 6:16kind of protects And backs them up from the law.
- 6:19And I believe, Canada is the first nation to actually do
- 6:23that. I haven't heard of anywhere else
- 6:24in the world. That's actually done.
- 6:25That could be wrong on that, but that's what I've heard.
- 6:29I mean, I don't know if you're wrong.
- 6:30I don't know if you're hurt. I don't really follow up with
- 6:33that stuff. It sounds right though.
- 6:36Sounds right. I don't know if I think so.
- 6:40Okay. Well then bring it back to the
- 6:45presidential kind of area. How does it compare living in
- 6:49Canada and your perspective on everything that's going on in
- 6:52America versus sort of living and being in Canada?
- 6:57I mean, let's be honest, I love my family.
- 6:59We follow along more American news than Canadian news because
- 7:03nothing really happens here that's like interesting.
- 7:06I love kind of trust, but the American Music.
- 7:09American News is much more interesting than Canadian news
- 7:13because, but this is entire like me going on, I'm knocking, come
- 7:17It does affect us in some way because then, if anything
- 7:22happens that we have to do something about it, because
- 7:24we're taking the allies with America.
- 7:26If you don't like World War stuff, then Canada and us for, I
- 7:30don't know, I don't know my history that well, but still it.
- 7:34I don't really have many opinions on like politics stuff.
- 7:37In America is I don't really like getting into politics how
- 7:39much because yeah if what you can have more of like a really
- 7:43controversial and almost endless conversation about it with
- 7:46somebody who does Because let's say I knew a lot about politics.
- 7:49I don't know that much and if I'm having a discussion with
- 7:52somebody who has a lot of knowledge about politics, holy
- 7:56crap, is that going to be like most controversial and just
- 8:00heated discussion ever, I know what you have.
- 8:03Do you have those topics? I like are interesting to
- 8:07discuss but can like get heated fast in?
- 8:10Like, everybody's opinions, get scared.
- 8:13And well, I mean, I think this is the kind of thing behind In
- 8:17general, because I know where you're coming from.
- 8:19Like, obviously, I have issues that I'm passionate about, but
- 8:23over the years, as I've gotten older, the thing that I like to
- 8:25do more and more is understand other people's perspectives and
- 8:30particularly people whose thoughts, and, and ideas kind of
- 8:35contrast with my own because you never know what you might learn.
- 8:38And also, I find a lot of the time.
- 8:41You can be proven wrong with things, typically, facts figures
- 8:46or even just general Oops and stuff.
- 8:47So if you keep like an open mind to things, you can kind of
- 8:50continuously learn and stuff even from people that you
- 8:54disagree with, but I think a lot of the time, as you say, when
- 8:57you get into, like, discussions with people particularly
- 8:59politically Focus people, they get really impassioned and stuck
- 9:04to their particular political leaning.
- 9:06Yeah. And they won't budge.
- 9:08They just see it as like, I have to win this.
- 9:10I have to win this and I think that's the problem because then
- 9:13you can't have a discussion with that person because they're
- 9:17They're just not open-minded there to feel like focused on
- 9:21this one thing that they want. And so yeah, no, this is what
- 9:25I'm doing. I'm focused on this.
- 9:26I'm not talking about anything else and that's just what's
- 9:30wrong. I'm happy violent won't even
- 9:32though it's like I'm like if I was American in that sense, I
- 9:35think I would have voted for him.
- 9:37I don't know. I don't like thinking about if I
- 9:40was American. I like being Canadian.
- 9:43I like kind of a lot better than America.
- 9:45Let's be honest. But I gotta say, like, I have a
- 9:48very love-hate relationship with America's.
- 9:50I got a lot of American friends. I've also got people.
- 9:53I know who are American. I don't like some very general
- 9:56to me, and I think I put it down to just people again with this
- 10:00entire election. That because I expected to wake
- 10:03up Wednesday morning, I think it was like, the net the following
- 10:05day, like, on my way to get ready to go, to work and go on
- 10:09like Google and check see who won.
- 10:12Yeah, and I expected it so much like, okay, Polly like one's
- 10:15going to win. We know that much. and we all
- 10:18close going to be drunk, because Back infant to us 2016.
- 10:24The first time him versus on Hillary Clinton, We All Fall.
- 10:27Click like Hillary's gonna win, and then from just soak it all
- 10:30up somehow. And we all expected, like he's
- 10:32gonna win, he's gonna win this licorice.
- 10:34Crap. Try not to 64 so much, and we
- 10:37also are doing and then waking up next day.
- 10:40No one has been lost because nobody was to 2-under 70 votes
- 10:42yet and then, to the point that he declared himself a winner on
- 10:47Election night and told him stop counting the vote.
- 10:49But here's the thing, if they were to stop counting, The votes
- 10:53at that time, he would have still lost because he was still
- 10:55been behind by didn't because I just had more votes in and
- 10:59buying was that 253, for three days.
- 11:03I think three, four days at this point and then today, like, I'm
- 11:07on my way going home, and my mom says, it's like she gets a call
- 11:11from my brother and said, like all Biden picked up a state and
- 11:16he either needed Arizona or Nevada to win.
- 11:19Or just Pennsylvania and he was somehow leading in Pennsylvania.
- 11:23Overtaking, Trump. Thank God.
- 11:25Somehow that happened and said, like, I got two hundred seventy
- 11:28three votes. He wants like so he picked up,
- 11:30Pennsylvania, didn't even expect that had first, because if
- 11:34you're only keeping track with that electoral map and stuff,
- 11:38Trump is leading in Pennsylvania by a lot of one points.
- 11:42And then slowly over time, it went down.
- 11:44Because they're counted in the mail in votes, and the mail, in
- 11:47votes, Biden favors more with. And I think It's 60% of them to
- 11:51get Pennsylvania. I'm guessing he did because he
- 11:56just got declared President and let's be honest.
- 12:00I'm glad to see the Oompa Loompa go because just I'm not kidding
- 12:06because we all cook Trump like this where they can I call him
- 12:09an Oompa Loompa because his face is so orange.
- 12:12Just why this is but down up now, America is going to go
- 12:17crazy and hectic because There are people saying that if Biden
- 12:21wins that, like, Americans just going to start killing other
- 12:24people because of it and it's going to go to like stars Civil
- 12:27War did. Yeah, this is the crazy thing
- 12:30about it. My like, I'm kind of Blown Away
- 12:32by because a lot. Okay, I'm not saying all Trump
- 12:35supporters are like this, but a lot of them are kind of racist
- 12:41or very close-minded people, right?
- 12:43Yeah. It really blows my mind that a
- 12:45country that's founded on immigration.
- 12:51Is so inherently racist, and don't get me wrong, you've got
- 12:53groups, like the KKK and shit like that, then, you know, and
- 12:56it's historically been, you know, those kind of groups have
- 13:00always been in existence. It just blows my mind to the
- 13:05extent Janome like Trump had a massive following and still
- 13:11does. And that to me, is the biggest
- 13:15concern June. And, I mean, the fact that he
- 13:18was able to Rally these Poor so many of them and they were
- 13:22blindly follow like that. And they would not kind of
- 13:26listen to any logic at all. And like I said you before
- 13:30they're not the sort of people that you can have a decent
- 13:33discussion with, you know, the like you said those sort of
- 13:35people that will set that say things like well, if Biden winds
- 13:39were going to shoot these people.
- 13:40What like I know that a lot of people in America are very
- 13:44trigger-happy and obviously it's been very well documented, how
- 13:48the problem with guns. And in that Nation.
- 13:50But it's crazy to think like how easily people will mobilize when
- 13:56they just and react in that way, when they're presented with
- 14:00something that they don't like, you know, it's like, I can
- 14:04understand, you know, not being happy with a different, you
- 14:10know, Nate party, being control your country.
- 14:13I, for example, I'm not a massive politics guy, but I'm
- 14:16not a big fan of the conservative party in the UK,
- 14:19which is the current party running the u.k. right now.
- 14:22But with that being said, like the way I see politics.
- 14:24It's every party has good and bad.
- 14:27It just tends to favor certain people in society.
- 14:30That's always how it's how it's been, right?
- 14:34Yeah and I think the from where Trump is that, you know, it's
- 14:38kind of like there's a lot of extremist ideals in in that
- 14:41particular Administration that he was pushing and the delusions
- 14:47the way he's reacting right now. Is kind of an and like, for out
- 14:52his presidency has to me, is, you know, just signified just
- 14:57how delusional on how scary it is to have a delusional leader,
- 15:01running your country. Like what that means for your
- 15:04people for your nation. I mean, the very fact of in that
- 15:07first debate when you know he sort of didn't come out and say
- 15:11it, but he pretty much sort of said like hey guys stand by, you
- 15:14know, wait for my orders sort of thing you know.
- 15:16It's like fucked to hear that. Yeah.
- 15:20So real, I booted liked his staff and stuff are trying to
- 15:24coax him to try and move on because he doesn't want it.
- 15:28Please like the cool fish, he's scared to lose, he doesn't want
- 15:32to lose but different areas he tried getting states to recount
- 15:35the votes and the Supreme Court I think the night it is as much
- 15:40as you're going to recount the vote.
- 15:41If it goes out to the same conclusion, he's just going to
- 15:44try to put, he tried to prolong prolong this function and that's
- 15:48why it took so long. Because he sued States for
- 15:52countywide saying, it's a fraud and whatever and he's not going
- 15:55sleep. And I think they're now counting
- 15:57overseas votes right now, which I still think it's gonna
- 16:00probably favor and buy it and somehow I'm not that sure.
- 16:04Let's be honest. Yeah.
- 16:07Like they're trying to work out like kind to help him move on
- 16:11and just like go about your day but he doesn't want with us
- 16:15today. He's so focused on like I want
- 16:18to stay here, I To win his second term even though he
- 16:21hasn't the facts are out there to take counted the votes.
- 16:25They, he tried pulling yet, he failed with that, but he doesn't
- 16:29want to accept it. Yeah, that kind of blows my mind
- 16:32as well. Like, I mean, they got the guy,
- 16:35you know, many people in their life can say that they were
- 16:36president of a country. Do you know what I mean?
- 16:39Yeah, even if there's a couple of things here, like one being
- 16:43gracious in defeat, you know, it's never a bad thing to lose.
- 16:46If anything, it teaches you a lot in life and, you know, It's
- 16:49still a major success. You ran a country for four
- 16:52years. You're close to five years, you
- 16:54know, me and it's okay. Yeah, sure.
- 16:57You're going to be judged on that, but, you know, Against
- 16:59Time and a lot of people will say you were good for the
- 17:02country. A lot of people we say you're
- 17:03bad but it doesn't matter how well you do know, there are
- 17:06people that love and hate a bomber still to this day Jan and
- 17:09I mean, it doesn't matter what you do, but I think we've Trump,
- 17:13the kind of memory from this point onwards is always going to
- 17:17be like the guy was delusional. The guy was crazed acted like a
- 17:22child, and, you know, many of us around the world, like, yeah, in
- 17:25Canada and the UK, and other European countries will just
- 17:28kind of looking with, like, Fascination America right now.
- 17:31Like, I feel a lot of PE for people there because of what
- 17:34they have to deal with especially under this
- 17:36illustration. But I'm more kind of just
- 17:39entranced by this this character of Donald Trump.
- 17:42Like I've said, since the very beginning of his presidency that
- 17:44I feel that he it's like, it's like he thinks that he's still
- 17:49on. Reality TV show.
- 17:52And like that's that's it was kind of funny at first but then
- 17:55it kind of got scary after a while.
- 17:57It's like no this is worrying. This is like a very kind of
- 18:01clearly sick man. Yeah.
- 18:03And just like obviously that the worst part about that is is the
- 18:08implications of what that means for the people of the u.s. like
- 18:11you said, you know, you've got kind of two different groups.
- 18:15You know, you've got this kind of Civil War situation going on.
- 18:18Like there's a lot of people I've heard that say that, you
- 18:20know, the The thing is not really about race that obviously
- 18:24is but like the real thing that the government has trying to be
- 18:29trying to push is a class kind of issue.
- 18:32Jen. And I mean like yeah and like
- 18:36even if it's just been interesting like the president's
- 18:38response to the BLM protests and this is a very beginning trying
- 18:43to say that it's you know, really violent and it's all went
- 18:46and tifa's doing it and it's like everyone I've spoken to
- 18:49that's actually done protests And been there in person, you
- 18:53know, always says that it's the violence.
- 18:57If you like, is either coming from police to have too much
- 19:00power or in some extreme cases. You're just crazy Trump
- 19:06supporters, but even the Trump supporters were apparently,
- 19:09like, not that bad during those, you know, June.
- 19:13During those marches, it was more like when they're at their
- 19:15rallies. That it's an issue.
- 19:18Yeah, I think about like Trump's, Didn't see when they
- 19:24said he got the virus and then somehow he recovered like, my,
- 19:34my parents were saying, I'm pretty sure my friends.
- 19:36I think said it's a hoax. It's not it's not really just
- 19:38trying to get attention. Mmm.
- 19:40What part of me, kind of believes that, but it also could
- 19:43actually have happened. He is an old man and he's kind
- 19:45of program his state of mind. He doesn't like this, we'll just
- 19:49think, and whatever masking stuff he Doesn't do that
- 19:53necessarily. So it could have happened.
- 19:56It could not happen. I don't think it happened
- 19:58because of how fast he was able to recover because like all the
- 20:02gave me this experimental drugs and whatnot.
- 20:04Okay. If it worked for you then try
- 20:08some other people and if it works for them and go ahead.
- 20:12Yeah that's that's the tricky thing man.
- 20:14I still haven't really made my mind up about covid-19 because
- 20:16I've had family members that have had it, you know, my nana
- 20:19and Granddad called it at one point.
- 20:21So I was The scared at that point they're in their 60s but
- 20:25they kicked it fairly quickly I'd say within a week or so, you
- 20:31know. And then I've known other people
- 20:32younger. They've had it for much longer.
- 20:34You know, I've had like hanging symptoms and maybe they kicked
- 20:39the initial stages, but then, they just feel like fatigue for
- 20:41like a month or something. So I think it's, it's like they
- 20:47are a lot of scientists say, it's mutating and that's the
- 20:50issue. That's why it's Difficult to
- 20:52treat it because yeah, mutate so quickly.
- 20:55And obviously, every person's immune system is so different.
- 20:58So everyone will react to the virus in a different way.
- 21:02Yeah, but I know what you mean, like, yeah.
- 21:05He's a very old man. Donald Trump was like in his
- 21:0770s. It was the same for Boris
- 21:09Johnson. The leader of the UK, he got as
- 21:12well. Yeah.
- 21:13And he kicked it fairly quickly to and I'm not going to lie, the
- 21:19thought did cross my mind when both of them caught.
- 21:22Like this is Camille what? Yeah, this could boost be an
- 21:26attempt, you know, Curry favor and stuff.
- 21:29Yeah. Curry favor.
- 21:30Curry sympathy. Yeah.
- 21:32Which you know you don't want to be cynical but let's be honest
- 21:37like politicians lie all the time so it's wouldn't be a
- 21:40surprise but I think with with with Boris Johnson it was a bit
- 21:45more obvious that he did get it because he was so dismissive.
- 21:51Missive of covid-19 in the beginning.
- 21:53It was like shaking everyone's hands.
- 21:55Being my God, this is a fast, this is you ignore this, it's
- 21:58silly. And then fast forward a month
- 22:00later and he's like, okay, we're in lockdown.
- 22:03It's serious problem. Yeah.
- 22:05Yeah, speaking of covid-19, actually, I wanted to ask how
- 22:10has covid-19 affected Canada. How is it changed living in
- 22:15Canada? Or what's your personal
- 22:17experience with covid-19 in Canada?
- 22:19I don't have that one for like a stalker.
- 22:22Like nobody that I've known husband.
- 22:25I mean, I know people who have gotten in nobody in my family.
- 22:27I think I could be wrong. I don't remember much like the
- 22:31early as like early years early months, when this all started
- 22:34back in March, when he started going to lock down because I
- 22:38remember Mark 12 like Thursday, March 12 2020.
- 22:43I remember the exact date because that was the last time I
- 22:45was ever in my high school. Oh a lot of time I was ever in
- 22:48school and the day after I said no that's That same night
- 22:52because I had to go in for the competing for my senior trip,
- 22:56those gonna happen in April, and the following night around like
- 23:0010:00 here, they said that the schools are turning down and
- 23:05then the next day on Friday, the 13th, spooky and Mark, yeah,
- 23:09whatever they said, schools are closing for two weeks.
- 23:13Hmm. Sometime during that descends
- 23:15closing until May Run tables that are closing for the rest of
- 23:19the year. So at that point, we are senior
- 23:22trip and little game console. And I mean to, like, refund,
- 23:26every Thing took a long time. I don't know.
- 23:30Still going on. Probably is.
- 23:32But so I missed out on going to Central Europe?
- 23:35Was going to not only my first time on a plane my first time.
- 23:38So outside of Canada because I've never been outside of
- 23:40Canada. Wow.
- 23:42Because I've only called the Mosaic how it was going to
- 23:44Ontario, right? Okay, and that's it.
- 23:48We were supposed to go to Nova Scotia this year by train.
- 23:50Where are you based again? Sorry.
- 23:52Quebec Quebec, right? That makes sense.
- 23:54Yeah. So we're supposed to know what's
- 23:57going to go by train. And the canceling it because
- 24:00this entire pandemic. So and us the class of 2020 we
- 24:06never got our prom because that will end up getting canceled.
- 24:09Isn't that originally postponed to the 23rd of October.
- 24:15Hmm, but before that, I think got cancelled because it makes
- 24:19sense and I'm actually kind of happy.
- 24:21It was canceled. I think them sucks.
- 24:23Everything that I have a prom but also make sense.
- 24:26I'm happy. It's canceled because how the
- 24:28hell you Going to do a high school prom during a pandemic.
- 24:31Yeah, if every trying to like social distance of wear masks,
- 24:34you can like rent, like a decent-sized room for the entire
- 24:39class or the Tiger grade, but you can only go to like a few
- 24:43spots in that second because if you're trying to still remain
- 24:46socially distance and whatever and wasn't actually going to
- 24:49work and I'm glad they canceled it.
- 24:52But one thing we have our graduation, I think sometime in
- 24:56January, It's also been postponed from the 25th October
- 25:00now and that I'm trying to still wonder how they're going to do.
- 25:05Because usually it's like you have the entire class in their
- 25:09cap and gown sitting together. Yeah, next weekend.
- 25:13And I'm trying to wonder how we going to do.
- 25:15That will try to remain socially distancing and where mass is
- 25:18keeping safe, which is going to be the hard part, and I hope
- 25:23they don't end up answering it. Because if they do, then we
- 25:26wouldn't have gotten gotten a real graduation.
- 25:28We like us, we missed out on a lot of stuff like, senior trips.
- 25:32We missed out on a paint fight. I know that They were going to
- 25:36paint fight through the end of the year because like that's
- 25:38like sacrifice stuff like and listen like a bad kind of
- 25:43whatever if we don't feel like great 11th, grade 12, whatever
- 25:46because we say secondary because the secondary school you're like
- 25:51us you know? So we go everyone the secondary
- 25:555 which is great 7. Yeah.
- 25:56The grade 11 and that kids we don't really have Middle School
- 26:00here because I mean we do have one but I think that's the only
- 26:06one I know of because it's kindergarten through grade 6,
- 26:09then SEC, 1 2, SEC 5 and then you in say app which is college
- 26:14and university whatever. And I know in America they have
- 26:17great 12 which is their last year of high school knocking
- 26:21another year in that high school that I went to, don't get me
- 26:23wrong. I love my high school but it's
- 26:25also kind of like a prison. Yeah, it's funny, but whatever,
- 26:32and with his entire covid situation, We had to like do
- 26:38online classes, it's like quickly adopted at mmm and at
- 26:41this point most of us how I know, there's some people that
- 26:45still aren't used to it, but I think I have gotten used to,
- 26:48because I'm doing it for college as well.
- 26:51So, I don't mind it. I actually like kind of like it
- 26:55because it's smart as well but I know that some classes have to
- 27:00be done in person. Yeah.
- 27:03And if that comes to the case that next semester for me, die
- 27:06after you have to go in person to do some classes, I'm I'm
- 27:10still going like to be safe. I wear a mask that when I go
- 27:13outside, like, when I'm walking to work, for example, there
- 27:17could be nobody on the sidewalk, I'm still wearing my mask, Like,
- 27:21I could like take it off in like, Brie whatever.
- 27:23I usually do it on my way home, because I'm more exhausted.
- 27:25But I still wear my mask. I don't care.
- 27:27I'm not gonna take it off, even if I am alone, his that's just
- 27:31my sense of mind. Yeah.
- 27:34And in Canada, with this entire covid thing, we think we've
- 27:38handled it. Well, then again, we found a
- 27:41bunch of new stuff in March, and April, and that stuff.
- 27:45And I was like following along with it at the time, but then,
- 27:49again, we weren't in school. We're doing basically nothing,
- 27:53there is nothing to do. Not much because all we can do
- 27:57is go off shopping because stores are open and because
- 28:02that's what we need like groceries and stuff.
- 28:05That's like one of the few things we could have able to do
- 28:07it because most things were closed, my dad was out of a job
- 28:11for a few months because he works at a restaurant and
- 28:16restaurants closed down and then the reopened and they closed
- 28:19down again. So like, right now, Let's
- 28:25compare UK to Canada for once in on this basis.
- 28:28So, like right now we've just re-entered a lockdown but for we
- 28:34had our initial Lockdown from, let's say March till sometime in
- 28:39early summer, I think. And then since then, it's kind
- 28:41of been Regional. There's been differences between
- 28:45areas and staff in terms of lockdown rules.
- 28:47But for the most part, it's been this thing of you have what we
- 28:52call, Finn a social bubbles. Then my dad like groups that
- 28:57always hang around with each other but never mix with other
- 29:00groups stuff like that. It's been very hazy.
- 29:02They've not really been very concrete with with the
- 29:07instructions. And so, for example, right now
- 29:10we're in lockdown. But, you know, you've got like
- 29:12schools open University. Doesn't make any sense, right?
- 29:16And lock down. Try to keep everybody safe but
- 29:17the same time you want to do like the children till it be
- 29:20educated. Just I understand you want.
- 29:23Sometimes you At schools open because it's not like the same
- 29:26like fruit screen. And I understand that much like
- 29:29I would prefer like I prefer always prefer going in school.
- 29:33They are doing online because it's not the same.
- 29:36You're not getting the same interactions.
- 29:38Yeah. But I agree.
- 29:40I agree to keep safe. Like if you like want to like
- 29:44have fewer cases and you want to keep everybody safe.
- 29:47I don't think you should open schools again and if you do just
- 29:51keep it safe. It's like either, huh?
- 29:54Them slowly, adapt to online learning because I know what
- 29:59we're doing at my high school. My old high school, I think they
- 30:02have certain like groups going in on certain days, like,
- 30:06students. With last names from a to L, for
- 30:08example. And then am to this go on these
- 30:11days. That's a sensible idea.
- 30:14That's a very sensible. Yeah.
- 30:15Like, certain grades going on, like turn days as well.
- 30:18Yeah, you not. The entire school is there at
- 30:21once. Like usually it is.
- 30:22Yeah. You minimize the risk by always
- 30:24keep. The same group of people
- 30:26together and they've gone, I think over 20 days before the
- 30:30positive case there, because I won't Point like late September.
- 30:33And we got the news that somebody a, my school tested
- 30:36positive. Yeah.
- 30:37Got everything down. She's what?
- 30:41I mean. And now they like back up and
- 30:45get have a board. We have like our message board
- 30:47like they go on 21, I lost my cell 21 days without a positive
- 30:51case is it You know what happy? But like if anything happens
- 30:59they know what to do. Yeah, we've already adopted to
- 31:01online learning before so I respect I respect that kind of
- 31:05responsive nature. The anyways, have going on that
- 31:07sensible to me. I mean I think the problem in
- 31:09the UK has been and this is the main sort of grievance that we
- 31:13have. Well, we have two main
- 31:15grievances with the government. As far as their handling of the
- 31:18covid-19, pandemic here in the UK and it's mostly been You
- 31:24know, sort of unclear instructions that contradict all
- 31:28other rules. And, you know, silly things like
- 31:31okay, pubs can be open, but they can only be open till 10:00.
- 31:35And then it changed to pubs, can be open, but only pubs that
- 31:39serve food, because somehow, there's less of a risk.
- 31:42If you're getting a meal like this idiotic stuff like that
- 31:44doesn't make any sense, right? Right, like that, Justin I mean,
- 31:47okay, if you're out like a bar, that we would call them bars and
- 31:51pubs. Yeah.
- 31:53I mean, it's a nice way to it's the same thing, but we call them
- 31:55bars. So, you go into a bar and only
- 31:57one that serves food, that Foods being handled as it's being made
- 32:04by somebody. So I'm like, I know they're
- 32:07trying to get sick. Like they might be wearing
- 32:08gloves, and whatever, but it's still being in a way handled by
- 32:13somebody else. So if you can still contract it
- 32:15from, I don't know if that's the impulse, but you and I but it's
- 32:19this is my perspective on this, as well as make sense.
- 32:22Yeah, I think Keith like black bars open, not only serve food,
- 32:27that makes less sense and keep him bars opened and like there's
- 32:31only serving drinks. That's like I think only serving
- 32:33drinks to be in a way safer because you only have one person
- 32:37handling it. No houses multiple people like
- 32:41Sarah. Think I actually considered that
- 32:44before? I think the thing for the for
- 32:46the most part you know, you're always going to be a risk.
- 32:49Yeah. During this situation, it's just
- 32:51like you said, there's always going to be So for example, if
- 32:53you have, you know, restaurants open just for takeaways, you're
- 32:58always going to have people who are handling the food this and
- 33:00that the other. So you're never going to fully
- 33:02eliminate the risk, you're just minimizing it.
- 33:05Yeah, I think that, I mean, obviously, I am not a world
- 33:09leader or something, but I think if I was approaching this my
- 33:12view would be. Let's try to run things as much
- 33:16as we can. But, you know, in that kind of
- 33:19logical way, we're we're avoiding certain Things as much
- 33:23as we can. So for instance, I think you
- 33:24could even do, you could do. Yeah, High School graduations.
- 33:28You could do sporting events. You could do wrestling events
- 33:32but you have to do it at limited capacity.
- 33:36Like for instance, you know, the American wrestling company all
- 33:40elite wrestling as an example, it's a new company.
- 33:44There is any way they've sort of reintroduced fans into the fold
- 33:50at this particular site. They're operating from, but 10%
- 33:53capacity. So I think if the venue is let's
- 33:56say, 4,000 you probably got like 500, some yeah, very, very small
- 34:02handful and there's like a big gap between the all the people
- 34:05and stuff but you've still got a presence there.
- 34:07You've got people enjoying it, putting money into it, right?
- 34:11But it's not the same spectacle do it was but it's still running
- 34:15on some level. I like what you said about
- 34:17schools, you know, operating in a way where it's like, okay
- 34:21we've only got these people for these Pacific days.
- 34:23So we're still running the school.
- 34:25We're just running it in this limited capacity.
- 34:27Like I think that that's the approach, we need to have moving
- 34:31forward. Like that's why I personally
- 34:33disagree with the lockdown, we currently have in the UK because
- 34:35it's like you're just part of my language fucking the businesses.
- 34:39You know. Not not the big ones but the
- 34:41independent ones like for instance, like you know your
- 34:43father's place like with a restaurant or something, that's
- 34:45the people they get affected. I come.
- 34:49I do volunteering in the city center where I live in
- 34:52Manhattan. Chester in UK.
- 34:54So I'm basically like driving around this city, you know,
- 34:57donating stuff to people taking donations, blah, blah, blah.
- 35:00And the one thing that really struck me, when I was looking
- 35:03just as this new lockdown, was introduced was just the rows
- 35:07upon rows upon rows of just shut down shops that you just know.
- 35:13I'm not going to be there in a couple of months time because,
- 35:17you know, you know, the money always goes to the large company
- 35:22here. You know, it's always the same.
- 35:24It's like when we had the 2008 recession and the big Banks were
- 35:27bailed out by the government. The government in East ends
- 35:30tends to care for certain Industries and companies and so
- 35:35on, like the middleman, the little man, it doesn't matter.
- 35:39It's like, you know, fend for yourself first with restaurants
- 35:44because I know where my dad works like the place, like his
- 35:48restaurant. There's only like a certain
- 35:50amount of people indicating the same time.
- 35:52So there's not many people. We still have enough people to,
- 35:55like, do everything in like, to take out, whatever.
- 35:57But you still try and keep this in seems like, maybe 34 people
- 36:01Max. Yeah, I doing Go, which is
- 36:04enough. So you're still like able to
- 36:08produce what you can do. I'll still try and keep it safe
- 36:12and like those small businesses, there's a small business that
- 36:15like our quaint and everybody knows like everybody loves.
- 36:19It's just not going to be there because shut down and the
- 36:23money's like as you say going to the big companies whatever and
- 36:26they're just not going to be they're going to lose out on
- 36:28stuff. That's is almost like I want to
- 36:33A iconic in some way. Yeah, I mean so smooth.
- 36:37Small businesses is always the backbone of any country because
- 36:40in that a day, like as much as people going on and on and on
- 36:44about big Brands and stuff, you know, you know, it's ready ever
- 36:47feel like, you know, a connection to like your local
- 36:51McDonald's or Starbucks or something to me.
- 36:53It's like, you feel like, I feel like some people do but like,
- 36:56no, yeah, they don't get me wrong.
- 36:57That's why I didn't say all people.
- 36:59Because I know there are, you know, big And I accept about
- 37:04Brands like apple and stuff and fine whatever.
- 37:06But, you know, generally speaking, it's the small
- 37:09businesses that in your area that you kind of feel some
- 37:13affection for you support you like you know, because it's
- 37:16different it's something different from the norm, you
- 37:19know, a lot of the time the contrast is when you're dealing
- 37:22with, you know those those kind of franchise like businesses.
- 37:25You're going there because you know what to expect and you know
- 37:29that you can get that in any location because it's the same
- 37:34Cell right? Yeah, but when it's a small-time
- 37:36place, you know, maybe you go out of your way to go to that
- 37:40place, or maybe you've been going there.
- 37:41Like, you know, for instance, I'd there was a fish and chip
- 37:44shop that myself and my granddad used to go to When We Were
- 37:46Young, since I was a kid, and I think it's still there, and it's
- 37:50like a family kind of experience, you know what I
- 37:53mean? Yeah, stuff like that.
- 37:55You can't recreate it. You can try.
- 37:57You know, I've seen I remember Starbucks, many, Do they
- 38:03acquired some particular brand and they started to try to
- 38:08create that kind of hipster style coffee shops, right.
- 38:14But you got to see that it was, there was no heart or soul in
- 38:18it. It was just that kind of that
- 38:20BS, that they were trying to get a handle like small, like family
- 38:25as Diner type places. Yeah, that actually has things
- 38:29like heart and soul put into it like it's an enjoyable.
- 38:33Royal Purple environment at a point.
- 38:34Yeah. And then once those are gone,
- 38:37you're going to lose out on something that you've probably
- 38:39like been too many years or something, or just go every once
- 38:43in a while, but it's still enjoyable and you just go back,
- 38:47this goes away and then hmm, it's like so atmosphere thing
- 38:53isn't it? Like, I think it's difficult to
- 38:56be able to buy an atmosphere often, you know, you build up
- 39:00over time or maybe it's a particular cloak.
- 39:03Sharon or something like that. But like, you know, I don't tend
- 39:07to feel that kind of feeling if I walk into like a Starbucks or
- 39:11a cost of coffee, sit down. Have a coffee doesn't doesn't
- 39:14feel know that kind of friendly environment that I would get in.
- 39:17Like, you can go to most places and find a Starbucks.
- 39:20Something like a few minutes. Yeah.
- 39:23And in some areas in London, it's like, they'll be like five
- 39:26cost of coffees in like, within a five-mile radius.
- 39:30It's ridiculous. Right?
- 39:31And for us in Canada, have something called Tim Hortons.
- 39:34Yes. Yeah.
- 39:36I love Tim Hortons first a bit slick Canadian staple.
- 39:39There's a chip importance here in Manchester if you can believe
- 39:41that think. Oh my God, it's in UK.
- 39:44Yeah. Honestly, think about see, it's
- 39:47weird. Manchester in the UK, is a
- 39:48strange place because we have a lot of American brands that I
- 39:52have to this day. Never seen any, because I grew
- 39:55up in London, and I never, I never saw a Tim Horton's or Taco
- 39:59Bell or something like that. But they actually have that here
- 40:01in Manchester I mean, there's like, like, I think I'm, there's
- 40:05like, a lot of American stuff that in Quebec.
- 40:08We don't have many of like, for example, Popeyes, like the fried
- 40:11chicken place you couldn't find those Across America.
- 40:14We have one, I think in Quebec, be like, in Ontario, but you'll
- 40:20see blame or these like American about.
- 40:21Take our beasts and Popeyes and whatever.
- 40:24But in Quebec here we don't have a lot of them.
- 40:27I think we have, like one Popeyes.
- 40:29I've never even seen it before this happens.
- 40:32When is my next Question. Actually, like, like II know a
- 40:37fair bit about America and I know it's like a reasonable
- 40:41amount about Canada, but, you know, given that you're Canadian
- 40:44and you give a better perspective on this, what would
- 40:46you say? I like the main differences
- 40:49between Canada and America. Let's just pretend that, like,
- 40:55we know nothing and you're trying to explain this to like
- 40:57an 8 or something. Like, well, how would you
- 40:59explain it? I mean, there's a lot of
- 41:03differences between Canada and America.
- 41:05I mean, first off, I want you to most obvious one, like, carrying
- 41:10like a gun on you because in America, you're, I think you're
- 41:16allowed to do that. Yes.
- 41:17A lot of the hard like a weapon on you, like you can be a
- 41:19Walmart, I understand. There's this picture number was
- 41:23it's like a mirror or something but it's a picture of post
- 41:25Malone at Walmart in America. This is a gun on him, just
- 41:29walking the like one with a pistol on you and just what?
- 41:35Like, no. Because we have thought like
- 41:38permits and stuff that's Maybe I like numbers and we can't.
- 41:42Wait, you just click bring it out in public and whatever sick
- 41:44for a hunting. Hmm, like that's a loud but this
- 41:49carrying it, like, willy nilly just like all artists like, no,
- 41:53that's like, I'm always like kind of in that mindset when I,
- 41:57if I ever decide to go to America, I just didn't know
- 42:00there's going to be people with weapons on them.
- 42:03Yeah. And it's going to kind of make
- 42:04me a bit worrisome. It's just like any point.
- 42:09You can just like, hear a gunshot.
- 42:11And just like that, and just kind of scary at the same time
- 42:17because I don't plan on ever going to America in future.
- 42:21I mean, let's be honest. I know which I know how you
- 42:25feel. Like, I went there six years ago
- 42:27and it was an incredible experience, that get me wrong,
- 42:30but I grew up kind of wanting to live there.
- 42:34You know, I was kind of sold in The American Dream, all that
- 42:36shit. And then when I went there, I
- 42:38got to say I that disappeared I no longer wanted to live there
- 42:45anymore because of many things what you said like I saw you
- 42:49know gangsters sitting in their car with a gun and you know drug
- 42:53addicts and it'll be on you get drug addicts in any country.
- 42:56Yeah but like in America you get massive areas and when you talk
- 43:01to some of these people, you kind of find out how the
- 43:03system's actually work or don't work in some cases, a lot of the
- 43:08time, like, homeless people out there.
- 43:10You know, they're not necessarily all drug addicts or
- 43:13all in really kind of messed up situations.
- 43:16A lot of them are kind of failed by the system and it's very
- 43:22difficult to kind of get back on track once you've been failed by
- 43:25that system, but yet as far as, like, the safety issue is
- 43:29concerned. Yeah, I couldn't agree more with
- 43:31you. Like obviously, it does vary
- 43:32from state to state, but yeah, there is that thought in your
- 43:34mind at all times, that you could just be shot randomly.
- 43:39Yeah. And like, you can Go to America.
- 43:41You can be mugged. Yeah, and all night, if you take
- 43:44it like a nice draw at night and don't remember night.
- 43:46Those are peaceful, hmm. Like they could be peaceful,
- 43:49didn't like if you're in America, you can get mugged.
- 43:51You can just let this stop and just you want to have any idea.
- 43:56What do I mean? Don't get me wrong.
- 43:58I'm pretty bad. Can happen, most places?
- 43:59Yeah, so it like always also going out at night, I mean as
- 44:04much as it's like nice and calming so so kind of got that
- 44:07fear that's like something could happen.
- 44:10I think I think the key issue is isn't is that like obviously in
- 44:14Canada and UK in other countries you have areas where that's more
- 44:21likely to happen. So you know okay this is a bad
- 44:24area. I've really got to be on my God
- 44:25hit but like most of the time you can walk down your local
- 44:28High Street or local town like 2 a.m. and you don't have to
- 44:32necessarily worry about getting murdered or shot something like
- 44:35that. Right?
- 44:37Whereas in America I mean Broad daylight, you could just need a
- 44:43good happen. So yeah.
- 44:43Just you know, to me like you're always at risk and I think
- 44:46that's the kind of scary thing about it.
- 44:48And don't get me wrong, there's a lot of people living in the US
- 44:52who, you know, are free from danger and and probably live
- 44:56very safe lives. But like I think like if you're
- 44:58in any of those major cities, there's always going to be a bit
- 45:01of a risk. Yeah.
- 45:03And like more. So in in the larger populated
- 45:05areas like New York City and maybe Atlanta places like that.
- 45:11But yeah that's that's a very solid point, you know, on the
- 45:14gun issue. But I guess when I asked a
- 45:17question, I was wondering more, you know, as far as culture is
- 45:20concerned because I think that's like that's the thing like that
- 45:23point. There's a lot of, there's a lot
- 45:24of things said about Canadians being like really nice which I
- 45:28can concur every Canadian. I've ever met sweethearts.
- 45:32I don't know what it for the most part I think.
- 45:33Yeah, most of us are nice. I mean, I'm not going to say
- 45:36that. All of us are nice.
- 45:37You can have like like the really like bitchy Canadian.
- 45:40assholes out that point like excuse my language but like you
- 45:43can like Have people are just rude as all hell, right.
- 45:50And that's, that's normal. I could find them anywhere but
- 45:52from also, most of us are, like, really nice.
- 45:54I'll say that much. Because I can be like, going on
- 45:56a bus on the SDM, which is our like bus system.
- 46:00Like I'll like, I'll be on my way down like school.
- 46:03It's like, then I remember I do this almost every morning.
- 46:06The just be multiple people waiting at a bus stop and like,
- 46:09okay, it's like do you go on you go on.
- 46:11You want. I can be there for, like, five
- 46:12minutes. I thinking I'm Peter, once I
- 46:14have just like, go no-go on, don't going on.
- 46:17And it's like a Canadian standoff at that point.
- 46:19Just like no you do it. No.
- 46:20Don't you do it? I was like, okay, no you go on
- 46:24like I'll pay this time, I'll fix them but most of them we can
- 46:27like go into an argument about being nice.
- 46:28I've apologized for apologizing but I'm sorry I'm saying sorry
- 46:33so much like I'm sorry. So the rumors are true.
- 46:38Then again for like the more like the Prairies as we call
- 46:41them in person at etobi Alberta and Saskatchewan, right?
- 46:45Like those are those are called the Prairies and you'll hear A
- 46:47lot more slang, a lot more Canadians.
- 46:51Flying and you look more like sorry at that point.
- 46:55Yeah, I think also like, no vote.
- 46:57You're like a horse as well as like, people say, it's if you
- 47:05Doing that and going like the Prairies, it's like more about
- 47:08about what you think about but like about me.
- 47:11Yeah. I just help out because that's
- 47:13how I've always said, say it, but your like, it's also weird
- 47:16like this, this flying terms of use because like most places
- 47:19have Their own specific symptoms that they use.
- 47:24And they understand Canadian slang terms for most for,
- 47:27doesn't make any sense. I'll be honest, some are weird
- 47:31and I don't use all them. I used some because I'm in
- 47:34Quebec and some are in French, but for the most part cutting
- 47:39slang terms, don't make sense. Sometimes I think also like,
- 47:44most places, like terms and hearing for the first time
- 47:46you're not going to start with a are, right?
- 47:48Like, I could probably give you some Canadian slang terms right
- 47:50now. You would have no idea.
- 47:52Talks about probably no, no, because there's always like area
- 47:56specific, cultures specific. So many other things you have to
- 47:59take into account. Its finally, I just find it
- 48:03interesting because obviously, in the United Kingdom were also
- 48:08quite well known for our manners.
- 48:10But, you know, we're also known for being kind of cold and You
- 48:17know, just difficult sometimes but I think with with Canadians
- 48:22internationally speaking, a lot of people hear about how nice
- 48:25you guys are, how I manage you are.
- 48:26Like as far as like negativity is concerned.
- 48:29The only thing I've ever heard about and I said this briefly
- 48:31when I appeared on your upcoming podcast episode The, you know,
- 48:36the whole thing about french-speaking areas, like you
- 48:39said you're from Quebec, which I know I think is Montreal Quebec,
- 48:44right? And my dad.
- 48:45Yeah, yes, you say again. Maria.
- 48:49That's like French. I mean if you want a an English,
- 48:52how we would say it, we would not see Montreal, but, you know,
- 48:56it's a Moines and you say, Montreal, I will cringe if
- 48:59anybody's have Montreal, that's not how we say.
- 49:02We say Montreal. Like, if there was a you
- 49:04instead, Montreal Montreal Henry, say, get back because the
- 49:10queue you song. We don't think quoi, I can't
- 49:13even like said because Quebec doesn't even talk about to us.
- 49:16So you just Kevin back, get back.
- 49:18Like this is also Accents in these words and okay so for the
- 49:22Folly accent but that's something I've heard is like
- 49:25certain areas in Canada where there's a big French population
- 49:30or french-speaking population and sometimes you get these
- 49:33issues of, you know, people maybe you know, speaking French
- 49:38or not speaking French. And then there's that issue of
- 49:41like or why don't you speak French or the reverse, why don't
- 49:44you speak English or whatever the case may be.
- 49:46But That's literally all I've heard as far as bad is concerned
- 49:50about I mean, yeah, because like the most you can like running
- 49:53into is somebody who's spoken French.
- 49:56All I think I BEC because when you're like a grocery store in
- 49:59Quebec and the cashiers, then I have to do this because I'm a
- 50:02cashier. So we have to say bonjour.
- 50:06Hi like any, like, even though restaurants you have to start
- 50:08with French and then English like, on menus in something
- 50:12around, cause you have like the French words would be bigger
- 50:15than English words. Looks like I've got new friends,
- 50:19first, and English. It doesn't matter if they speak
- 50:21English French. We have to say bonjour.
- 50:22Hi, that's all we go. And I speak French like 90% of
- 50:26the time. Yeah, I remember you saying
- 50:28this? Yeah, when we did, when we did
- 50:30that episode but the one thing we didn't press on, so I knew we
- 50:34were pressed on time and yeah, podcast.
- 50:37But I wanted to ask about some of your experiences as a kiss
- 50:41year because anyone I meet who's worked in customer service, has
- 50:45always has some good stories. I do have some interesting
- 50:48stories and like, what are your some of your horror stories, or
- 50:51stories or crazy crazy times. I mean, let's go.
- 50:55I've only been working there for like just over a month.
- 50:57Oh well I do have some stories so because my French isn't the
- 51:01greatest, I go always spoken in French as a subject but I am
- 51:05slowly trying to get better because like hot see like at the
- 51:09point they are the points card and whatever because I've asked
- 51:11and whatever and numbers are also kind of confusing at the
- 51:15same time but as a cashier Or I've seen people just freak out
- 51:19because like, it's, like, not the big ones like that, like the
- 51:22small small ones like, okay, tell me how much this is like,
- 51:25and we just verified a price for them.
- 51:27It's like, oh, this is like 564, for example, like, but it over
- 51:31there, it said something else and like, I'm sorry, I scan it
- 51:33at this price and tell me what it is.
- 51:35I'm not wrong. Then it probably just put in the
- 51:37phone because I'm not sleeping on the side, whatever.
- 51:40And so we have like areas below us like near-earth, like feet
- 51:43that we can put stuff in our Overstock and then we have no
- 51:46customers. We go on the back and put them
- 51:48in like specific cards. Don't go in the fridge.
- 51:50Go in the fridge. Freezer freezer And I've gone to
- 51:54the point that I had like two days ago.
- 51:57I got this Spanish woman as a customer but just like older
- 52:01lady, he spoke Spanish. He didn't know much French
- 52:06didn't know much English, and I don't know much Spanish.
- 52:10So I spent five minutes trying to tell her how to pay with a
- 52:16credit card. And holy crap I almost punched
- 52:22my cat. Like I almost punched it because
- 52:27and our bill and upcoming like double the size at, it should
- 52:30be. This is just mostly just like
- 52:32error error error. He's like not being processing
- 52:36and so much that I even asked the cashier in front of me.
- 52:39It's like, do you speak any Spanish?
- 52:40No, I speak Italian, help me anyway, because if you can't get
- 52:45a Spanish person to help you translate get an Italian because
- 52:48it's not the same. But you have some words that are
- 52:50very similar but like if I'm talking about more, Horror
- 52:54Story. I don't know.
- 52:56I mean, I saw, someone tried to steal something one time.
- 53:00Like that's not really many horror stories.
- 53:02We don't get like, I know, like if in America you got like,
- 53:06like, like these sickening start being robbed at gunpoint.
- 53:09Never happy. Yeah, that's extreme.
- 53:11I mean, it could happen here not saying it won't eat possibility.
- 53:17And so is my mind, like, am I going to be robbed today?
- 53:20But Mi Martin Mi customer service experience is always,
- 53:23you know, to do with rudeness people, be a customer, just kind
- 53:27of going crazy, especially at times, like Christmas, You think
- 53:31people would like Christmastime? That's going to be such a busy
- 53:34day, busy like area. There's also it's weird
- 53:37Thanksgiving is where because we have our Thanksgiving October,
- 53:40right? Yeah, often November Americans
- 53:43like having in November like, why is what we know?
- 53:47It's the like I did the first Monday, I think of October 1st
- 53:51and I worked that day. I work talking night.
- 53:54That is so I worked from like, I think what?
- 53:57232 9:00. Hmm.
- 54:00That that, that day and like is it is that 2:30 in the afternoon
- 54:03till 9:00 to 9:30? And I like 9:00 at night, all
- 54:06those are the worst shifts to do.
- 54:09That's like my weekends because like I have like today and
- 54:12Sunday off. I'm happy and I work for the
- 54:15week, but like when it comes like weekends, I will let me
- 54:18put, like, late look like afternoon.
- 54:21Like chips doctor, it's just boring.
- 54:23I remember Summers and just like, yeah, I can clean my cash
- 54:27like three times and no customer will show up.
- 54:30Those to me are the worst shifts because you just you lose
- 54:33everything. Like I remember when I worked in
- 54:36a supermarket, when I was much younger, I was like, I was 18 at
- 54:39the time. It's like my first proper job
- 54:42and I remember, it was shift work, so, obviously the morning
- 54:45shifts are bear. Like, if you do seventh or 463
- 54:48or something, great, right? You can get how you can still
- 54:51have some evening at least. But when you do these shifts
- 54:55like 6:49 or 9:48 was the worst one for, Me because I have to
- 55:01commute to this store anyway. So I have to wake up at say,
- 55:069:30 in the morning and, you know, basically get my breakfast
- 55:11start traveling to this place arrived there around, let's say,
- 55:1611:20 kill some time. Maybe I have some lunch and then
- 55:21work the whole fucking day and leave when its pitch black.
- 55:26And then yeah I would always be late coming home.
- 55:29So I'd probably Get home about 12 p.m. or something.
- 55:33And I thinking back I'm just so grateful that I didn't have to
- 55:35do that anymore. But like I could always
- 55:37sympathize with people that do these sorts of shifts because
- 55:40you just lose it. You there's nothing you can do.
- 55:42Yeah. You've lost the money.
- 55:43I mean, you could, you have, like some time during like the
- 55:45day. And so, it's like, if you get up
- 55:46early enough but you can like still be productive during the
- 55:49day before you leave for your shift.
- 55:51Yeah. But like, that's mental.
- 55:53I hate people that do like like Jim before, massive shift and
- 55:57it's like, come on, man. You're just going to be
- 55:58knackered. I mean, like, you know, first
- 56:01off, working out your body and then you go into Artful, click
- 56:04Works to earn money and then they get wake up, they can be
- 56:07like sore, but then he like, some people like, done this
- 56:09like, like bodybuilders, whatever, they've gotten like,
- 56:12use like, working out whatever and bouncing up with their job.
- 56:15I'm pretty sure they've got that under control, but if I were to
- 56:19have an afternoon night shift and in the morning, I wake up
- 56:23early enough. Well.
- 56:24So like let's say, for example, 6:00 I don't wake up that early
- 56:27usually for like an afternoon shift.
- 56:29I wake up like Because I like sleeping in, but if I were to
- 56:33wake up early enough to like, like, okay, go on a walk, all
- 56:37like to exercise, whatever, I will be tired before I even
- 56:40start work. Yeah.
- 56:42And I get to work, I'm just like Yeah, I don't want to be here.
- 56:49It's just like, okay, let's just get this over and done with.
- 56:51That's the many a times where I will leave like 15 minutes
- 56:56before my shift starts because I walk to work, I can walk to work
- 57:01where I work. Well, that's good.
- 57:02At least you're nearby. Yeah, but like takes me 10
- 57:05minutes to walk at most because I walk fast for the person.
- 57:09I'm for a person I walk fast not make sense, but I will be I've
- 57:16bought walk. Yeah.
- 57:19It's like because I'll leave like 15 minutes.
- 57:22Like, I remember once I left 10 minutes before my shift and I
- 57:25will walk fast enough that my, the legs of my bones, I felt
- 57:28them hurting, they felt the bones of my legs hurting and I
- 57:32got to work. I've never been late yet,
- 57:35somehow, I always get there for like a few minutes before my
- 57:38shift starts. I could go upstairs, put myself
- 57:40in my locker, put my gloves on and and my mask whatever fire
- 57:44would have that one and go to my supervisor.
- 57:46Stomach, what cash am I at today?
- 57:48And I'd be like, sweating IV panting just like I walk here.
- 57:51It's like, it's like the first few feel like out like me first,
- 57:57our, I'm still trying to recover from like walking and stuff.
- 58:01Nothing was like, Norman that man.
- 58:03I've always had the mentality of, like, I need to arrive early
- 58:06just so I can kind of sit. Yeah, I have a coffee, relax and
- 58:11mentally prepare myself for the shit.
- 58:13I'm gonna have to go through for the next, however, Many hours.
- 58:17I kind of mind just turning up and then having to hold out
- 58:21until first break or something like no screw that.
- 58:25I mean, but Easter I was like the brakes like having breaks.
- 58:30It depends on how long you work. Yeah.
- 58:33For us like if I would work like anywhere from a five to five and
- 58:37half hour shift, I would get one break.
- 58:39Six and a half hours to breaks. Hmm, 727 a half hours which I've
- 58:43always worked before. Hell kind of career X naught for
- 58:47three and I have only once worked a four hour shift.
- 58:51I'm questioning. Why did you give me four hours?
- 58:54That's because I don't have to give you a break.
- 58:56Why? I've wet those shifts as well.
- 58:58I remember very brief and no I got one break that day.
- 59:01I've always very brief will still get great this company.
- 59:04It was like a clothing company, some American company, but we
- 59:08have them in the UK. And they would always make a
- 59:11point of giving you those four hour shifts or something like
- 59:14that. Because no, I think actually,
- 59:17they even gave you four hour, shifts, or like, free our
- 59:2045-minute ones because then they didn't have to give you a break
- 59:23as like, you plants as well, because then they will put you
- 59:26to work at the busiest time. Like, okay.
- 59:29You're said from like and you know, what times like the
- 59:31busiest, yes. Like dreams like specific days.
- 59:34This is like not always busy around the same time every day
- 59:37was first, like, Saturday morning, Mornings are usually
- 59:40packed. Mmm.
- 59:42Because like weekend people are off at like, or like how free
- 59:44time to do their shopping. But then like, okay, you're
- 59:48going to be put from this time to this time only for like four
- 59:51hours. It's like the busiest kid and
- 59:54you'd like never get any time but somehow I always manage to
- 59:56get a break. Aw, I just get somebody talking
- 59:59we can go on break now. It's like thank God.
- 1:00:01Hmm. And just in the few minutes of
- 1:00:03just relaxing in the right place of the right?
- 1:00:05Yeah, I always kind of took issue with that, like 15 minute
- 1:00:08break, I don't think that's enough.
- 1:00:09Time to Janome. Like it takes time to get there.
- 1:00:13And like, if you've got a decade manager, they'll probably be
- 1:00:16like, cool, you know? You, you only have like, ten
- 1:00:18minutes left in your brakes like motherfucker.
- 1:00:20I just, literally, just sat down, like, that sounds like my
- 1:00:24back for, like, five seconds. Look at your phone for like one
- 1:00:27minute, five minutes. I've and says, but I'm thankful
- 1:00:31that my supervisors or nice? Yeah, I'm happy.
- 1:00:35But they also speak French. Most of the time I'm done.
- 1:00:37It's like that speak. And now holy crap.
- 1:00:40Most part I understand it. It's just what are they
- 1:00:43understand? What I'm saying is my I speak
- 1:00:47like like broken French, Haley people speaking broken English
- 1:00:51really get what they're saying, but it's not like grammatically
- 1:00:54correct, but people will understand what I'm saying.
- 1:00:57I just don't say correctly, that's fine.
- 1:01:00I mean, as long as you're on, as long as you understand it.
- 1:01:02Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:01:03That'd be fine. Let's switch up a little bit and
- 1:01:06bring it back to your studies, obviously you.
- 1:01:09Can you just finish high school? So we'll put you on a 17, 18,
- 1:01:14something like that and 1717, okay?
- 1:01:17So are you do you have plans for maybe a university or some some
- 1:01:22future education at this point? My wife's?
- 1:01:24What's the deal? What's on the cards?
- 1:01:27Okay, I mean, I was also like thinking about this like, during
- 1:01:31my last year of high school like when we were still in school,
- 1:01:34whether I was going to apply for college and like is it, right?
- 1:01:37Because I know some people just don't I would like take some
- 1:01:39Time off before doing it. But then it came to a point
- 1:01:42where I was too late to ask you apply for daytime school and my
- 1:01:46only option was to go to night school.
- 1:01:49So I'm in night school, currently.
- 1:01:51It's okay. I mean that's why I work
- 1:01:54mornings during the week and my like surprises.
- 1:01:57Notice that I work mornings during the week because I have
- 1:01:59night school, so they know they can't like put me late on
- 1:02:02Saturdays, they can put me late on weekends because I don't have
- 1:02:05school. But during the week I work like
- 1:02:08from like opening to like 2:30 on average.
- 1:02:12But my studies, I did apply for next semester.
- 1:02:17I'm just waiting to see if I got accepted because I haven't done
- 1:02:20that yet. From.
- 1:02:23I haven't decided on University. I think that's all.
- 1:02:25I I still need a thing about that.
- 1:02:27Okay, I did, I mean, I applied into like, Cinema and stuff like
- 1:02:31the media and Ambience wasn't my first choice as I really, like,
- 1:02:38want to go into languages and like, like, do a translator
- 1:02:42stuff because the college I'm not, they have a language
- 1:02:46course. Actually, one of my friends is
- 1:02:48in that course, was thinking okay, that's not that bad and I
- 1:02:51was actually really happy about it.
- 1:02:53And then I got my mark for French in term two failed.
- 1:02:57It's like no I'm not doing that because I'm gonna have to take a
- 1:03:00French course. I know that much and my friend
- 1:03:02she's absolutely garbage and then this is I got into like
- 1:03:08podcasting whatever and editing my stuff and found it.
- 1:03:13I kind of like it. I mean, it's simple what I do
- 1:03:16now but I feel like I can improve on it.
- 1:03:18Do it better and are you learn like how audio works and stuff
- 1:03:22like that and editing? And I'll keep producing.
- 1:03:26Like, I mean, it doesn't matter how the quality is not good
- 1:03:29quantity, doesn't matter, it's good quality of it.
- 1:03:31Even if like you start out with the most like a basic shit, like
- 1:03:36a laptop microphone and a laptop camera and microphone.
- 1:03:39Like if you start out with that you start out with that.
- 1:03:41If you're not going to go out like so young, when I started, I
- 1:03:45started with my laptop and my microphone from my earbuds
- 1:03:50that's always using. And then I ended up buying this
- 1:03:53I'm on it and it just looks adorable.
- 1:03:59So that's my first microphone. And now it's for well and
- 1:04:04hopefully if I do get accepted into that course, I can learn
- 1:04:10more stuff than I already know. I have a slight Advantage
- 1:04:13because I like edited videos before and like audio and stuff
- 1:04:17like that. So I have some knowledge but so
- 1:04:21okay, before we get into the podcasting Yes.
- 1:04:23So basically I guess what you're kind of saying is maybe you're
- 1:04:26getting into like audio production maybe that's kind of
- 1:04:31what you're looking at maybe as yeah.
- 1:04:32Yeah I mean at the same time you're always like still figure
- 1:04:35out what you want to do in life. Yeah there's lots of course ice
- 1:04:39cream called so and you like you can do like find the most like
- 1:04:44weird stuff that you might find. Like I never expected myself
- 1:04:47doing that. But you enjoy doing it
- 1:04:50basically. What we're saying is that your
- 1:04:53You're looking for as far as the education is concerned stuff
- 1:04:56that's going to help you with podcasting and video production
- 1:05:00editing that kind of stuff. So stuff that will kind of
- 1:05:03support that. Okay.
- 1:05:06Yeah, that makes sense. That's sensible, you more
- 1:05:08sensible than I was, at your age.
- 1:05:09So what? All right.
- 1:05:12I mean, I'm also like the youngest in my grade so, because
- 1:05:16that's really actually, I'm not the youngest, I'm the second
- 1:05:18youngest because they've somehow, one of my friends is
- 1:05:20somehow two days, younger younger than I am.
- 1:05:24And it's like, because I didn't even think there's anybody
- 1:05:26younger than I am because we're my birthday is just like the cut
- 1:05:30off limits. Because when we got a report
- 1:05:32cards, it was always say like a line 8 by September 30th and you
- 1:05:38have great. I am born on the 26th of 2003,
- 1:05:43which makes me. I should technically, I'm a year
- 1:05:45ahead of myself because I should technically speaking to you, in
- 1:05:48my last year of high school working up.
- 1:05:49But I'm in my first year of college, Okay, that explains a
- 1:05:54lot. Well done, you know, that's yeah
- 1:05:57treatment but yeah nice one. I mean I figure if anything you
- 1:06:01probably be Wow, after everything that happens, I
- 1:06:05guess. Yeah, it makes sense to study
- 1:06:07now and then maybe try and get that Gap here and get that
- 1:06:10travel year in and get those experiences in obviously given
- 1:06:15where everything that's happening.
- 1:06:16Now, probably makes more sense to study now and wait.
- 1:06:19Yeah. For everything not much else to
- 1:06:20do. You can like go I'll get
- 1:06:22groceries. Yeah, walk but not much.
- 1:06:28Alright let's let's talk about your podcast and now you've been
- 1:06:32Doing this for sure. How long you been doing this?
- 1:06:34Now, as of now, this would be what my third month doing it.
- 1:06:42Okay. Okay, I'm in my third month.
- 1:06:44Let's start in August. So nice one, nice one.
- 1:06:47And why did you decide to stop podcast?
- 1:06:49And what, what kind of LED you to sort of decide to do that?
- 1:06:54I mean, like a lot of things, there's like a bunch of things
- 1:06:56in my mind that like I should probably give us, give it a shot
- 1:06:59and see what happens. Podcast will be one of them like
- 1:07:01starting point Cast and like sure, let's try it out.
- 1:07:06If it works out, it works out if not, then I tried it, whatever.
- 1:07:11And then it's like, oh, I actually like it, like it's
- 1:07:15actually nice. But because why did before
- 1:07:17starting anything I researched a bunch?
- 1:07:21Like for like a week or two, I did research on like audio like
- 1:07:27recording stuff and like editing.
- 1:07:29So I came in with some knowledge.
- 1:07:32So it wasn't like this going in. Like I don't know what to do.
- 1:07:36I went in with some knowledge and It's just overall fun to do
- 1:07:41at same time because you can have a podcast about.
- 1:07:44I want to pretty much anything because you have sports podcast
- 1:07:46and like gaming podcast and music whatever.
- 1:07:49And then the type of podcast that I run is just whatever
- 1:07:55comes to mind. I just talked about hmm.
- 1:07:58I didn't like those podcasts in specific.
- 1:08:00Those are actually kind of fun because you have you can expect
- 1:08:03to pretty much anything at all points.
- 1:08:05I think it's better because I think that We've entered the
- 1:08:10game a time. When it's heavily oversaturated,
- 1:08:14everyone in their mums are fucking doing podcasts right now
- 1:08:17and that's the thing, like, that's fine.
- 1:08:20It's fine to have a lot of people doing doing podcasts, but
- 1:08:23as you said, you know, you know, there's so many different areas.
- 1:08:26Like, for instance, look at like professional wrestling.
- 1:08:30I'm a big fan of professional wrestling, right, but I've seen
- 1:08:32so many podcasts people setting up resting podcast and I might,
- 1:08:37I guess I'll put while I will what?
- 1:08:38The point like what do you offer?
- 1:08:40That's different because if it's just you sitting there talking
- 1:08:43about a particular topic that there's like a thousand other
- 1:08:48people doing the exact same thing.
- 1:08:51You can't differentiate yourself, you can't make it any
- 1:08:54way different. And like, I always think about
- 1:08:56that, like I always think about how can I make my podcast?
- 1:09:00Something that people want to come back and listen to like how
- 1:09:04can we get like stand out from like that crowded like
- 1:09:08everything. Common.
- 1:09:09Yeah, I want to make it unique in a way.
- 1:09:11Yeah. And that's the thing.
- 1:09:12Don't get me wrong, I don't look at my podcast and go oh, you
- 1:09:15know, it's revolutionary its groundbreaking, you know,
- 1:09:17obviously it's not but I do look at it like it is different like
- 1:09:21people when people come here you know they never know if they're
- 1:09:24going to get an interview or a topic only or a discussion one
- 1:09:29with a friend of mine or something.
- 1:09:30Like I try to always model it on what I do with my YouTube
- 1:09:34channel, you know, always kind of have a variety, but the
- 1:09:38bigger thing, Thing that I'm, I guess I'm building is my own
- 1:09:41brand. So it's like, when people come
- 1:09:44to it, they're like, they're coming to hear me talk about
- 1:09:48things and because they're interested in that and I know
- 1:09:51that sounds a bit egotistical. Believe me, I don't have an ego,
- 1:09:54but that's kind of my business kind of approach to it.
- 1:09:57Yeah, that's my logic with it, but when I look at a lot of
- 1:10:01podcasts and people promoting their brands for their podcast,
- 1:10:06there's nothing that entices me about You know, clicking on that
- 1:10:10because it's didn't let me it's not, you know, it's just someone
- 1:10:15kind of saying oh hey here's another podcast about talking
- 1:10:19about the news or talking about this thing and it's like okay
- 1:10:23great because if I want to like, listen to news, I'll listen to
- 1:10:27the news, right? I don't know.
- 1:10:29I just get like, there's nothing wrong with like that, I know.
- 1:10:32But like I'm pretty sure there is a podcast about new somewhere
- 1:10:35II. Don't really exist.
- 1:10:37Fuck the news and something about Out.
- 1:10:39Exactly like Whitey can sometimes movie reviews, and
- 1:10:42some shit. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with
- 1:10:45those podcasts. I mean, if they, like doing it,
- 1:10:46they like doing it. I know.
- 1:10:48It's like, people actually like it, but I know this, I don't
- 1:10:50have anything against them. It's just, you have opportunity
- 1:10:54to me. Something unique and stand out
- 1:10:59for people but I like you, I like a bunch of sports podcast
- 1:11:02and like there's only so much we can do.
- 1:11:05Like yes II didn't want to like a specific topic throughout my
- 1:11:08bad enough, this thing as well. You're never gonna get anywhere
- 1:11:12with those type of podcasts. I'm not trying to be pessimistic
- 1:11:16here because like I agree with you.
- 1:11:18I think, you know, if you like it if you love it, do it, fuck
- 1:11:21it, right? Don't don't worry about the
- 1:11:22critics. But the problem is, if you are
- 1:11:25doing something like Like sports or something, you're never going
- 1:11:29to really become big unless you want to three things happens,
- 1:11:33evil one, you're a noteworthy person, sorry to say, but that's
- 1:11:37how most people work. Like, for instance, I'm building
- 1:11:40my brand up now most times when I post a video or a podcast or
- 1:11:44something, people don't give a fuck.
- 1:11:45Because who the fuck up my? Who's this guy?
- 1:11:47I don't care. You know, and that's how people
- 1:11:50are with you until you become known.
- 1:11:52So that's a lot of the time when people are looking at podcast
- 1:11:55stuff to listen to who Is this guy?
- 1:11:57Why should I care about? Secondly, it's a thing of like
- 1:12:01if we're taking Sports as an example, is this person actually
- 1:12:05an athlete? Were they ever in athlete where
- 1:12:07they can accept successful athlete?
- 1:12:09Why should I listen to their views and opinions on this
- 1:12:12particular thing? Like what we, you know, what
- 1:12:14differentiates them from, you know, the several hundred other
- 1:12:18pundits out there and then thirdly, it can come down to,
- 1:12:23you know, the format of what they've got.
- 1:12:25You know, is it? One who's just talking about,
- 1:12:28what happened, which is fine. But, you know, I think a lot of
- 1:12:32the time especially if you're someone, okay, you don't fit in
- 1:12:35those first two categories, you're not an athlete and you're
- 1:12:37not someone noteworthy or whatever then you've got to look
- 1:12:40at okay, I've got a either be very controversial and say stuff
- 1:12:45that other people won't say or I've got a deliver, some sort of
- 1:12:50a format that hasn't been done for four or a unique take on
- 1:12:53something that has been And that I guess my point is, you're
- 1:12:58always trying to look for that niche in the market or
- 1:13:00something, you know, they mean, and I feel like a lot of those
- 1:13:03podcasts that are unlike art because, like you said, you you
- 1:13:07whenever you come up with an idea, that's what happens that
- 1:13:10for instance, you were doing a Halloween special free part of
- 1:13:14things you had different guests, talking about different things,
- 1:13:18Halloween sent centered, and that makes sense.
- 1:13:20It's like it's a trending thing, because Halloween happened at
- 1:13:23that time. So, it makes sense that About
- 1:13:25that. But the point is you're always
- 1:13:28doing something different and you're building up as you build
- 1:13:32up over time, people will become familiar with you and we'll look
- 1:13:36forward to that because it's like okay, different topics,
- 1:13:39different things. But it's under this brand but I
- 1:13:42just feel like that that same logic, doesn't really apply with
- 1:13:46those, you know, Sports ones or wrestling podcasts or movie
- 1:13:51review podcast, or whatever. The case may be, you have to
- 1:13:54kind of approach it differently, I Feel ya.
- 1:13:59I know there's like some podcasts that I've been a guest
- 1:14:02on and I've listened to it as like have different segments.
- 1:14:05Like something just like anything can happen at before
- 1:14:09you can just say things like a nice discussion type podcast,
- 1:14:11you can just have a discussion, it's fun.
- 1:14:13Like sometimes they have like games involved or is like
- 1:14:17segments and that's something I've tried to incorporate
- 1:14:19because my, my Halloween special part 1 of 2, I did Mad Libs for
- 1:14:26the first time on my podcast. And it worked out and didn't
- 1:14:31work out. Same time because I want to try
- 1:14:33to find Halloween stuff because it was I recorded them on
- 1:14:35Halloween. There wasn't many.
- 1:14:38So I'm like, let's just try to stay on the theme of it and then
- 1:14:42I recorded on this court for the first time and then couldn't
- 1:14:44share my screen. So a lot of the complications
- 1:14:47happened. So I know next time with one, do
- 1:14:49I madlib segment, I'm going to use zoom because at least I can
- 1:14:53share my screen and they can actually see it.
- 1:14:55Is that me taking pictures of it and sending it on the Discord
- 1:14:58Channel. And then I'll do a different
- 1:15:05topic. Almost every week.
- 1:15:06I've been really inconsistent lately that I need to like like
- 1:15:11record more episodes and I've been tried thinking, okay?
- 1:15:14Let me try to be in the mindset and pre-record so I have episode
- 1:15:18saved up so I don't have to worry about every week, visit
- 1:15:22every week. I record something like an
- 1:15:23episode of week and upload that same week and it's like, that's
- 1:15:27all I do. And It's just something I've
- 1:15:31even thought of changing hmm that when it comes to the end of
- 1:15:37my first season of doing like season thing, okay and then I'm
- 1:15:41going to say and I've even said this, I'm going to say in that
- 1:15:45episode when I recorded I cannot make any promises if it's going
- 1:15:50to stay the same because I can change on the I can basically
- 1:15:54even rewrite the top point and change them.
- 1:15:57I change it to something else. I can Designed logo.
- 1:15:59I can change out the format. I'd like different segments,
- 1:16:03whatever. So, I double and I cannot
- 1:16:05promise, anything will stay the same.
- 1:16:08As I've seen my intro before, my intro would consist of like an
- 1:16:11interesting fact about the topic, I'll be discussing.
- 1:16:16What is like what I try to do like be like, Oh, okay, that's
- 1:16:19kind of interesting because of educational and then kind of
- 1:16:23stopped. Because at that point, it's just
- 1:16:26I'm too much to like even In process.
- 1:16:29This is keep it simple. Keep it enjoyable.
- 1:16:32You don't do anything to Super complicated.
- 1:16:35I'll do anything super complicated?
- 1:16:36I talk. Yeah, either alone or with
- 1:16:39somebody about a topic that's it.
- 1:16:42But you can have the most bare, basic simple podcast and people
- 1:16:46will still enjoy it. I know exactly what you mean, I
- 1:16:50have the exact same mentality because I never explicit like I
- 1:16:55had a podcast before this with a couple of friends and we tried
- 1:16:58to do the whole every week thing and it was only once a week but
- 1:17:01it was really stressful for some reason.
- 1:17:03So I know exactly where you're coming from on that issue and I
- 1:17:06think with my podcast I do it the same way that you do.
- 1:17:09Like I when I have an idea I'll do it.
- 1:17:12If I have a guest and I'm always asking like hey who wants to
- 1:17:15appear on this, do you Have like ideas for topics.
- 1:17:19I'm always kind of putting stuff out there, but I kind of feel
- 1:17:22like if it happens, it happens, but if it doesn't, it's okay to
- 1:17:26take a bit of time and not. But there are is it that's much
- 1:17:29better than setting yourself like, okay, I have to release an
- 1:17:33episode every week and then it comes to the day and you're
- 1:17:36really anxious because you like, you got nothing, you know, I'm
- 1:17:39gonna do what I'm gonna do and then you just put any old shit
- 1:17:41out and it's like yeah that's that's that's me.
- 1:17:45And I hope you liked it like, when out work I'm thinking I
- 1:17:49need to record something when I get home, I need to do
- 1:17:50something. Yeah.
- 1:17:51And then, I just remember that if I was, let's say I put myself
- 1:17:56in the shoes of a content creator on YouTube with a
- 1:17:57YouTuber and like and some who like, like uploads consistently
- 1:18:02daily, it might have to take like a like a week off.
- 1:18:06I'll take a week off. Yes.
- 1:18:08And people will understand it. Like, you'll be was supportive.
- 1:18:10Like, okay. Take the time you need, it's
- 1:18:12okay. And that's why I try. do I
- 1:18:18remember I recording anything because then I feel like if I
- 1:18:21would go like three weeks or more then I feel like I lose
- 1:18:24focus and just And it all together.
- 1:18:29So at times I'll just go like a week or two without doing
- 1:18:33anything because no, I have stuff to balance, I'm kind of
- 1:18:36stressed about it and then their time set the damn video won't
- 1:18:41upload because it's just because sometimes it will take hours to
- 1:18:47upload our just got my contacts. That's, that's the software.
- 1:18:51She my friend. I like you should have that same
- 1:18:53software. Cute.
- 1:18:55No. But like, I used to have the
- 1:18:56Problem. The same problem I used to use
- 1:18:58Sony Vegas which is notoriously bad and takes many many hours.
- 1:19:03Then I got a tip-off from a friend to use videopad and I
- 1:19:08have to say, ever since I've been using that it takes, well,
- 1:19:13it's really short, I never have the issue of because I remember
- 1:19:17for a long time, when I was doing Sony Vegas, I'd have that
- 1:19:20issue of yeah, trying to upload to Youtube and it would take
- 1:19:22hours then it would just cancel or fail and I've never had that.
- 1:19:26Yeah. Videopad sorry I've never had
- 1:19:29that issue. It's always been seamless.
- 1:19:31Perfect. You know, even the larger one
- 1:19:33and you actually gave me the tip off of using it.
- 1:19:36So - yes because I want to spread the word like people make
- 1:19:39your life easier but it looks like man.
- 1:19:44My video just won't upload a system use this.
- 1:19:47I mean that's a that's a big point about about being a
- 1:19:50podcast or a content creator. General is it's a constant
- 1:19:54learning curve and you're constantly learning.
- 1:19:56Things constantly making mistakes, you know?
- 1:20:00Like I only really recently kind of figured out like, you know,
- 1:20:03okay I should use zoom for this, I should use this.
- 1:20:06I should use that and I'm still figuring it out, like, you know,
- 1:20:09we might be close to 40 episodes in, but it's still very much
- 1:20:14developing and becoming its own thing.
- 1:20:16And my Approach has always been to kind of just Embrace what
- 1:20:20happens and just, you know, be like, like, even this interview
- 1:20:24style. Yeah, I have It's always the
- 1:20:27same. I do my research on the person
- 1:20:29and I kind of ad-lib, a lot of stuff based on how the interview
- 1:20:33goes. And but the key thing, I'm
- 1:20:37obviously, always hoping for is a discussion will come about and
- 1:20:41it will be longer, but it's okay if it's shorter as well.
- 1:20:44I think you kind of got to like embrace it and work with the
- 1:20:48person that you're working with your let me like it's your show
- 1:20:51but it's and it's up to you to guide it and steer it, but it's
- 1:20:54also very important to listen. To your guests kind of tap into
- 1:20:58their Vibe and see like you know, okay they talk a lot
- 1:21:02great. I'm going to let them talk and
- 1:21:04I'm just going to guide it or if they don't talk a lot.
- 1:21:06Okay, I need to ask the right questions and I need to make
- 1:21:08them feel comfortable so that they're more willing to share
- 1:21:11information, you know. And, but like these things, I
- 1:21:16think it's just time and practice as an it, you know?
- 1:21:19When I first started doing Vlogs, it was the same thing.
- 1:21:22I was terrible at vlogging. Now, I just turn on the camera
- 1:21:26starts. Again it's done.
- 1:21:27Like I think it's just practice. I mean it goes for a lot of
- 1:21:31things in life that you want to like these side projects, he's
- 1:21:34like many products that you like it's my stuff I want to try to
- 1:21:37like do this in accomplish it. It's like you're always going to
- 1:21:41run into these problems. You always in a runt he's
- 1:21:43kerfuffles and just sometimes not going to upload right away.
- 1:21:47I'm gonna have to, like, do a late.
- 1:21:49It's all part of the process, isn't it?
- 1:21:50Entire learning process at this point and I got to go through
- 1:21:54this evening about life. Life is his entire life.
- 1:21:56Learning process with, you're going to run into like snags and
- 1:22:01it's like fail bunch of times. But you learn from those
- 1:22:03mistakes. Yeah.
- 1:22:04And you start like, okay, it's this mistake again.
- 1:22:08What should I do differently? So you end up learning a lot.
- 1:22:12From example, I've already learned a lot from editing and
- 1:22:16uploading fun. Doing this podcast, you learn a
- 1:22:22lot of same time because then I thought of maybe I should start
- 1:22:26at again. Like music and same time.
- 1:22:28So I started slowly adding music and then I didn't dislike little
- 1:22:32intro sequence. I do at the beginning of my
- 1:22:33podcast now with music behind it and slowly, but surely you're
- 1:22:37going to like grow into something that you're eventually
- 1:22:42going to be proud of. Yeah.
- 1:22:43But there's always going to be that I doubt in your mind
- 1:22:46thinking like should I even continue this?
- 1:22:49Like is it going to go? Well I is it going to be
- 1:22:52responded? Well through the I continue it
- 1:22:55so I just Scrap it and start over with something completely
- 1:22:59different and that's why though I know exactly how you feel.
- 1:23:02I always doubt everything I do but I think that you have to
- 1:23:06just look at like you and focus on how you feel.
- 1:23:12Like for instance I've had some hate comments here and there
- 1:23:16where people have been like, oh shut the fuck up and let your
- 1:23:18guests speak and I remember at first I was like, oh fuck you
- 1:23:21but then I kind of thought about it and I really went back to
- 1:23:24that particular episode and I To think like okay did maybe this
- 1:23:28is something I should keep in mind and but as far as like
- 1:23:31actually feedback is concerned like and where that relates to
- 1:23:36low if I continue doing something or not, you know, I
- 1:23:38mean for instance, I have stuff that I create that, you know,
- 1:23:42doesn't get as many views or much attention and its relative
- 1:23:45to my channel. Like I don't get a lot of use in
- 1:23:47general but in terms of my channel it's like you know
- 1:23:51certain things, get more certain things, get less.
- 1:23:52Yeah. And a lot of people base what
- 1:23:55they create on their View, You view account or what people are
- 1:23:58saying, but I think it's better to focus on what you enjoy
- 1:24:01doing. And if you are loving doing the
- 1:24:05podcast or creating a particular type of content, you're like,
- 1:24:08yeah, I'm going to keep doing this.
- 1:24:09I love this, then that's the main thing to sort of, keep in
- 1:24:13mind, I'm after a while, you are going to get feedback that is
- 1:24:15both good and bad, right? And you're going to learn from
- 1:24:18it all you just going to say like I'm still gonna do it, it's
- 1:24:22my stuff. You can't like, tell me what do
- 1:24:25ends and wait, they can't really.
- 1:24:26Late have control over what you do, so but it is good to like
- 1:24:30like, okay, take it in mind. As you said, like, I'm going to
- 1:24:33keep this in mind and try to work on it.
- 1:24:36Since you always try to like work on your flaws and
- 1:24:40absolutely. Absolutely.
- 1:24:41I do my, I think the the my episode like the most views I
- 1:24:44think it's like 40 views. I have on lifted, the most views
- 1:24:47are gone and episode. And this is when you have like
- 1:24:50these small podcast. You it's like yeah there's
- 1:24:53small. You like that's what every
- 1:24:55channel is. You start off.
- 1:24:56Off small producing like a bit of content every so often and
- 1:25:00then like yeah that's personally sometimes like oh this is
- 1:25:04actually pretty cool. Okay.
- 1:25:05I'm going to share it and like tell people about and then it
- 1:25:08grows into something big. And that's what if let's say you
- 1:25:12have this small podcast, it just turns into something huge.
- 1:25:15Yeah. And if I if that ever happens to
- 1:25:17me, I'm going to be in the mindset like holy crap.
- 1:25:21What? My good because you have your
- 1:25:24fan base is people who Appreciate what you do and
- 1:25:28understand if you need to take some time off and understand if
- 1:25:30you're having trouble with this. So, and they are going to
- 1:25:35understand changes in like, not uploading for like a week or two
- 1:25:38at a time or late uploads. So at the same time, you're
- 1:25:43trying to have this fan base with the slow group that of
- 1:25:47people that understand and respect you and like wanting to
- 1:25:51like, okay continue what you're doing.
- 1:25:53Like, if you need to change something, change something we
- 1:25:55won't mind like You'll still listening.
- 1:25:57I have I know I have one consistent listener.
- 1:26:00Ashley, I have to consistent listeners that I know of well
- 1:26:03well well done, I mean I'm pretty sure.
- 1:26:05I'll walk you out. I know people listen to it.
- 1:26:07I just don't know who listens to it.
- 1:26:08Yeah, I know my mom listens to every episode and she likes
- 1:26:11every episode on Facebook. So thank you.
- 1:26:14That's the same issue. I have like I have reg a regular
- 1:26:18viewership but I don't know exactly who does.
- 1:26:21I have I have sent out like, for instance, one thing I've stopped
- 1:26:24doing because it never gets The interaction is, I ask people
- 1:26:28like hey who's watching or who like this latest episode or what
- 1:26:32would you like to see? And no one answers but I think
- 1:26:35one time I did send out a thing and I got a couple of responses
- 1:26:39from my immediate Network. So I learn a little bit about
- 1:26:42who watches it, but as you said it's difficult to know in the
- 1:26:45early stages and you know, even as I say, like 40 episodes into
- 1:26:50a pod Carl close to 40 episodes in, I'm still figuring out my
- 1:26:54audience and yeah, like And as you say, like, every episode can
- 1:26:59can do different numbers. Like I'm still kind of looking
- 1:27:02at some of the podcasts and some of the clips I've done and I'm
- 1:27:06wondering like well what do people actually want to see more
- 1:27:08of like what what should I be replicating?
- 1:27:10What should I be focusing on? I don't know.
- 1:27:13Yeah, I mean all I can really kind of look at is the fact the
- 1:27:19fact that, you know, when I have certain guests on it gets more
- 1:27:22views because they've got a bigger foot follow following So,
- 1:27:26I guess that's something. But as far as like topics are
- 1:27:29concerned, it doesn't it, you know, a lot of times when you're
- 1:27:34looking at the analytics, that's the main thing that helps you
- 1:27:37understand what's being more responded to and what isn't, and
- 1:27:43I've Got Friends. That always tell me like, you
- 1:27:45got a focus on comments and stuff, but that's the thing.
- 1:27:47Those comments aren't there or else?
- 1:27:50I would, let's get, I get occasional comments here and
- 1:27:52there once in a blue moon, but a lot of the time, there's no
- 1:27:54comments. So there's nothing to kind of
- 1:27:56look at At and say, okay, a lot of things on my episodes on when
- 1:27:59I bought them to YouTube because I post YouTube, Facebook
- 1:28:01Spotify. And again like I said before,
- 1:28:04I'm not going to promise that they're going to still remain on
- 1:28:07those three platforms for the David, just limit myself to one
- 1:28:10platform because I didn't, I don't like waste like a quarter
- 1:28:13of my day, trying to upload one episode to this all these
- 1:28:17problems. I need to step it up and then
- 1:28:19recommendation for you then. You want to get a platform
- 1:28:24distributor? I use anchor, and that has
- 1:28:28enabled me to go on eight different platforms.
- 1:28:30And I felt like the more, you know, I just might just use
- 1:28:38anchor. That's it.
- 1:28:41Yeah, exactly. But it's the point that I don't
- 1:28:44know. Like, there's no comments.
- 1:28:46There's like, barely any like, slimy.
- 1:28:48I'll get like one occasionally on my YouTube videos.
- 1:28:50I get like, one like you. My Facebook on Facebook, because
- 1:28:53my mom and thank God. He supports me that it's like,
- 1:28:58oh my gosh, so does great today. Thank you.
- 1:29:00That's it. It's like all if you'd like to
- 1:29:02get and that's you remembered. I have three consistent viewers
- 1:29:06listeners, that I know of ones. My mom and then two of them are
- 1:29:09friends. One of the co-worker mine, he
- 1:29:11works at the same place, not a cashier bull.
- 1:29:13He still works in the same place until Miller I'm passing by to
- 1:29:17go to his Department's. Like I listen to rap songs while
- 1:29:20you study. Like, thank you like But that's
- 1:29:23cool. And I'm thinking, like, I have a
- 1:29:24friend, actually, charged charged Jacko.
- 1:29:27I've done a lot of collabs with and I did my previous podcast
- 1:29:32with actually as well. And he told me recently, or he
- 1:29:36told me before that, he would listen to my Vlogs and use them
- 1:29:40as like a mini podcast thing to listen to while he worked.
- 1:29:44But then, he told me started listening to the podcast, and I
- 1:29:46was like, really taken back by that, because he's a friend.
- 1:29:48And I was like, oh wow. Okay, honey.
- 1:29:50When you get like the first Time like sometimes like I listen to
- 1:29:53yourself I really like it's like, it's like the first time
- 1:29:56good feedback and I've had like the worst experience would like
- 1:29:59good feedback because it was like late at night.
- 1:30:02I don't remember how many episodes I had a time like, very
- 1:30:05few done. I get a text on my phone from a
- 1:30:09number. I don't know.
- 1:30:10I don't say that just a number. It's just all I really like your
- 1:30:15podcast. Like feel like and they said my
- 1:30:17name. So deoxy knew me.
- 1:30:18Like, I cursed, I really like your podcast.
- 1:30:20Like, I really like what you do, your voice helps me, sleep at
- 1:30:23night. This was from the kind of words
- 1:30:25like this either. I have a pretty common Voice or
- 1:30:30my voice is extremely boring. That puts people to sleep.
- 1:30:33No, I'm sure anywhere, but the compliment that's like Yeah,
- 1:30:38let's like that. A seems like, okay, thank you
- 1:30:41for the feedback. I appreciate, I don't get a lot
- 1:30:42of it. Who are you?
- 1:30:44It's like, I'm not saying that to.
- 1:30:46So then the following day I posted on my Snapchat, okay, to
- 1:30:50anybody who has my number, who did you give it out to one of my
- 1:30:53friends? He said and she was like a
- 1:30:55sister to me, he's like my fourth sister.
- 1:30:58So, because I've create them and she's like, my fourth one and he
- 1:31:01said, oh, I gave it to this person who did out the other
- 1:31:03person's like, okay. Let me ask that person, but give
- 1:31:07Me her number same numbers. It's like, oh my gosh, she has
- 1:31:12me on Snapchat this person, she has stopped at but it still
- 1:31:16asked for my number to text me about it and then proceeded not
- 1:31:20to tell me who she was. And by that point I just blocked
- 1:31:24the number because this is going to get anywhere.
- 1:31:26I'm just going to block it. His I did like he or she was
- 1:31:30telling me like, oh, it's her like by that point, if he would
- 1:31:33have said her name's like, okay, I would understand it.
- 1:31:37But then when it's like refused to tell me who you are, but at
- 1:31:39least I know you and you're like, how did he get my number?
- 1:31:42I have my connections like that doesn't make it any better.
- 1:31:48But still when you got like the first sense of feedback and just
- 1:31:52it makes you feel good. I know somebody's at least
- 1:31:55listening to it and somebody likes it because then again I
- 1:32:00don't know how like how I got 40 views on one episode.
- 1:32:03Like what? 40 people are.
- 1:32:07So I know of a few just what but still you never know who's
- 1:32:12watching or listening. Okay, moving it Forward.
- 1:32:16What are your main goals for? Podcast will all the main things
- 1:32:19you want to achieve with this, okay?
- 1:32:22Mingles my podcast, get it to a point where I I'm happy about
- 1:32:27it. Like, obviously I'm happy about.
- 1:32:29I'm proud of it. It's just that.
- 1:32:32There's a lot of things I could change and a lot of things, I
- 1:32:34could develop one. So work on those things, and
- 1:32:37then probably switch it up and they had in some segments and
- 1:32:42change how I do things like, how change the format of it and get
- 1:32:47it to a point. Where I don't stress myself
- 1:32:49over. It ended kind of balance it with
- 1:32:51work and school and like relaxing and then all I have to
- 1:32:55do is after this so I want to get to a point where I'm like
- 1:33:00not super stressing over it that I'm up at night worrying.
- 1:33:03Feel like I'm not uploading, I haven't recorded anything.
- 1:33:06I'm timing thing. I don't want to get to that
- 1:33:08point. I want to also like start
- 1:33:10pre-recording episodes, so I have episodes like saved up so I
- 1:33:13don't have to worry about every week I get to schedule them to
- 1:33:15upload. When like weekly bi-weekly.
- 1:33:19I am thought about like my schedule.
- 1:33:22I said, okay, 9:00 a.m. every Wednesday.
- 1:33:27Everyone's day and I was like, At first, I'm like, okay I can
- 1:33:30do this. Because at the time when I
- 1:33:31started this, I was unemployed, I didn't have a job.
- 1:33:34I was in high school so I had time to focus on it and then
- 1:33:38when I got a job in, didn't got more school work and then a
- 1:33:41whole bunch of shit. I'm thinking should I just do
- 1:33:45this every two weeks? Yeah, because there's no problem
- 1:33:48with that at all. It's just less frequent, I
- 1:33:51understand. But yeah, like that's like one
- 1:33:55of my main goals just too. Get it to a point where I'm not
- 1:33:59sick stressing over. It's for days on end and I'm not
- 1:34:02like pulling my hair out with yeah, because I can't even pull
- 1:34:06my hair out to any more just and that you want to pull my hair
- 1:34:12out to just happens. Well, what would you say?
- 1:34:16Have been the biggest challenges for creating your podcast so
- 1:34:20far. We're creating it our biggest
- 1:34:24hug because when I did the first episode, I have to record so
- 1:34:29low, I'd say and that was my third episode because I had
- 1:34:33guests get scheduled. I was told one scheduled with an
- 1:34:36interesting topic and like okay, that sounded really well and I
- 1:34:40felt like she was going to ask more questions than I was good.
- 1:34:42He seemed to know more about it than I did and I do try to do
- 1:34:45Research. And when it came to that
- 1:34:48episode, I'm waiting for a sec. Okay.
- 1:34:50What are you available to record?
- 1:34:51Because I went out earlier that day.
- 1:34:53Yeah, it's like okay, it's like I text when I go back like okay.
- 1:34:57Are you ready to record now? Because I was ready to go and
- 1:35:00check. Aw shit that's day, hold on.
- 1:35:02And he never takes me back never like and I'm like seeing Donald
- 1:35:07stuff like a few hours later. This is like, so I said, fuck
- 1:35:10it, I'm doing it solo, and then I spent a good for you.
- 1:35:15Minutes trying to say, how am I gonna do this?
- 1:35:18What am I going to do? Solo?
- 1:35:20Hmm. Okay, the point where I just end
- 1:35:22up talking for about four minutes and that was the entire
- 1:35:25episode, but the point that I was stressed, I didn't know what
- 1:35:29to do and then I think from that point it got me used to like
- 1:35:32talking in like so long episodes.
- 1:35:34When I do it, I don't, I haven't done one in a while.
- 1:35:39I'd say, I think my tenth episode was the last time I did
- 1:35:42a solo episode. It was like, yeah, yeah.
- 1:35:45Have a good topic about it. I can talk just by myself in
- 1:35:48entertain myself sounds wrong when I say entertain myself but
- 1:35:53you know you know I know what you mean.
- 1:35:55Yeah this is one of the reasons I do it as well because I think
- 1:35:58originally I had this thought in my mind okay this is just going
- 1:36:01to be an interview podcast and then I kind of realized like how
- 1:36:06difficult it is to continuously find new guests or even repeat
- 1:36:11guests and that puts pressure on you.
- 1:36:13And if you want to keep your Podcast going.
- 1:36:16You know, you can't always rely on other people.
- 1:36:19So what then? You have to rely on yourself and
- 1:36:21coming up with stuff, and that's exactly why I do solo podcast as
- 1:36:25well. It's not just for the variety
- 1:36:28.90. I mentioned earlier, it's
- 1:36:29predominantly because of this very issue, you know?
- 1:36:32Yeah. And yeah, I've had the same
- 1:36:34thing. I've had, you know, guests lined
- 1:36:36up and it fell through, for whatever reason, you know,
- 1:36:39because the problem is, you know, you have your own schedule
- 1:36:42and you're relying on people kind of Matching it to your
- 1:36:46schedule and you know, things change, things happen, I'd say
- 1:36:50for the, I'd say 90% of the time for me.
- 1:36:52I've been able to reschedule with people and but there have
- 1:36:56been times when it's fallen through and you just never hear
- 1:36:59anything back and you're like, yeah.
- 1:37:00And then my thing is that I don't chase people, you know,
- 1:37:04like I say, hey, would you like this?
- 1:37:06If they agree to it, I set the time make it happen, but if
- 1:37:10they're kind of like, you know, dearly and dallying and not
- 1:37:12really doing anything. And I'm, you know, like Like,
- 1:37:15I've had times when I've, you know, had the podcast ready, I'm
- 1:37:18ready and waiting and then they just never show up and I'm like,
- 1:37:22okay? And then they never get back to
- 1:37:24me with regards to that. And I'm like, okay.
- 1:37:27Because the thing is, I could fully accept the people.
- 1:37:29You know, things happen, things change, you know, shit happens,
- 1:37:33right? Yeah.
- 1:37:34When people don't have the decency to get back to you on
- 1:37:36that. And and so clarify, why?
- 1:37:39And they essentially just ghost you, you like, okay, right on.
- 1:37:42But you have to be professional about it and you have to think,
- 1:37:45Head and because it's your things you got to be like okay
- 1:37:47well I can't rely on this guest so as you said I won't come up
- 1:37:51with something for myself or you know whatever but I think if
- 1:37:54anything it's a good way of pushing yourself and as you set
- 1:37:58up, practicing just talking about a toddler Topic at length.
- 1:38:02You know, like often funnily enough, I approached my solo
- 1:38:06episodes the same way. I approach my interviews, I just
- 1:38:08write down all these things. I'm going to talk about like
- 1:38:11bullet points and sort of just go from A to B or A to Z and
- 1:38:15just try and work through and create something out of that.
- 1:38:20Because the first time I remember trying to do those
- 1:38:23podcasts where I just pick a topic and then just talk at
- 1:38:26length and that's fine if you're doing a vlog or like a mini
- 1:38:30story, but if you're doing a podcast, you know, it's you need
- 1:38:33to structure. You need, you need a flow even
- 1:38:37with even with these interviews and people sometimes think that
- 1:38:39it's really easy, just sitting ask questions but it's not,
- 1:38:42you've got you've got a craft something.
- 1:38:45It's logical. You've got a you know do it in
- 1:38:49such a way that it promotes, whatever that person wants to
- 1:38:51promote and gets the best of them, you know, and really, you
- 1:38:55know, takes into account, everything about that person
- 1:38:58that there is to kind of talk about and discuss.
- 1:39:01Yeah. And one thing I've always, you
- 1:39:05know, sort of learned from my guest is that they're always
- 1:39:08kind of say impressed with that the research is done but I can't
- 1:39:13imagine not doing that like that.
- 1:39:15That's I mean you don't have to necessarily have research by the
- 1:39:18person but if you don't at least have like you know your
- 1:39:21questions information on the blinking you don't like yeah
- 1:39:24something to go off of then it's like how am I doing?
- 1:39:28Yeah. Absolutely or even even just
- 1:39:29like some things that you're prepared that you want to talk
- 1:39:32to this person about I'll give you just come in at it like I've
- 1:39:35had times when you know the other person like I've appeared
- 1:39:39on other people's podcast and they've kind of expected me to
- 1:39:44You know, guide it and I'm like, well, it's your podcast.
- 1:39:47I mean, I'll talk happen. If you just want me to talk,
- 1:39:50I'll talk. I'll make it fun.
- 1:39:52But like, I think it's always up to the person.
- 1:39:55Hosting the podcast that guide it and guy, you, you know, I
- 1:39:58always say beforehand if I'm appearing on someone's shoulder,
- 1:40:01like, do I need some research? Do I need to be prepared?
- 1:40:04And if they say yeah, I'm okay. But if they say no, I'm like,
- 1:40:08okay, when it's up to you so I don't know.
- 1:40:12But I think that's it. That's a key point.
- 1:40:15Isn't it? For all podcast, it's just to
- 1:40:17have some structure, how to plan it out because it's going to
- 1:40:20help you in the long run? Yeah, but anyway, let's let's
- 1:40:24switch up and let's do more positive thing.
- 1:40:26Positive question, what have been other than the, the episode
- 1:40:30that you had that got the higher amount of views?
- 1:40:33What would you say? Have been sort of the biggest
- 1:40:34triumphs for your podcast so far.
- 1:40:41I'll be honest, I don't think I have any big Triumph is like, I
- 1:40:44have like that, like, like better episodes that I think
- 1:40:46like, oh, I for this some sort of A disruption because you
- 1:40:49like, you have episode. I like, okay, I like this one
- 1:40:54more than this one. I like how it was done.
- 1:40:56Whatever. Yeah.
- 1:40:57Like formatted but you like, never going to choose like a
- 1:41:01favor. That I mean I don't have a
- 1:41:03favorite episodes. I've done not gonna choose a
- 1:41:04favorites. Like I'm proud of their rule.
- 1:41:07Great. Everything, just some less than
- 1:41:11like this. I'm proud of all of them.
- 1:41:13Just all in different amounts like fasting because Triumph or
- 1:41:19my podcast was probably just, I think how accepting people were
- 1:41:23like. Oh okay, I'll probably give it a
- 1:41:25listen and then it's like, hmm, seems interesting, okay why not?
- 1:41:29I think that that would be it because I don't really have
- 1:41:31like, a really big moment in my podcast yet yet hopefully
- 1:41:36someday Sometime. Hopefully.
- 1:41:42Okay, awesome. Awesome outside of podcasting.
- 1:41:46Do you have any sort of like Hobbies or interests that you're
- 1:41:49particularly fond of or, you know, paint us a picture of
- 1:41:52stuff? A James.
- 1:41:54Thank you. I could paint like I can
- 1:41:57literally paint. I do like drawing stuff like a
- 1:42:00kind of artistic like I'm creative.
- 1:42:01I've been told it's like I do draw.
- 1:42:04Sometimes, I think I'm a Sketchbook somewhere here, I'm a
- 1:42:07Sketchbook over there. That's been kind of mostly on
- 1:42:10But that's a Sketchbook. I don't need to focus on that.
- 1:42:13So it's like every once in a while I like draw or something
- 1:42:16like, and that's really a drawing.
- 1:42:20It's just, I've always been like kind of talent that art.
- 1:42:24And I remember when I was in school, I never failed anything
- 1:42:26in art. I'm a seagull like, 90s a lot
- 1:42:30and then like, every occasion when it came to like doing a
- 1:42:32mosaic 70s because I don't like mosaics I more than like drawing
- 1:42:38and stuff. I I do like solving Rubik's
- 1:42:41Cubes. So cool, is because I taught
- 1:42:44myself like I taught myself. I watched the video on how to do
- 1:42:47it back when I was in 6th grade, that's when I forgot my first
- 1:42:51Rubik's Cube. And then from there, now,
- 1:42:55frostbite to, like, seven years later.
- 1:42:57I'm at that point 76. I don't remember how old I was
- 1:43:00when I started this, I was 10 or 11.
- 1:43:04Yeah, and Amy it was interesting because I do like Puzzles.
- 1:43:09At that point, I am trying to get something be complete.
- 1:43:12I'm looking around my room. See, if I Rubik's cube right now
- 1:43:15I do in the back, I'm just not going to get it right now.
- 1:43:18I feel like I have this right here.
- 1:43:22This holy place. So this is 11 cm by 11 cm.
- 1:43:28It's a light and the battery's dead.
- 1:43:32So I can turn it on, but it also holding works.
- 1:43:37So Cuban. I've solved this before.
- 1:43:39It is a pain to solve because my hands are not that big.
- 1:43:43I can fully turn everything, and my hands are pretty big.
- 1:43:47Like the wingspan of my hand. I'm using wingspan of my hat is
- 1:43:49like eight and a half inches. Well, I don't really fit my hand
- 1:43:56on this team. Again, I see that fly.
- 1:44:01Fast. Suggest yummy Rubik's Cube light
- 1:44:04though, I see works. I have the world's most Rubik's
- 1:44:08Cube down there. Have a 5x5 2x2 summer.
- 1:44:11I'll be downstairs. I'm three by three.
- 1:44:13Wow, but it doesn't mean I'm going to put this on the floor
- 1:44:16because I've nowhere else to put it.
- 1:44:19Not the point that even when I was like starting college and I
- 1:44:22try to get like into like as much as it costs, much of my
- 1:44:25college offers, I like I want to be involved because I was in
- 1:44:28student. When I was in high school and I
- 1:44:31really enjoyed it and fall to my school and so my college did
- 1:44:36something called like a Got Talent week, which I think it's
- 1:44:39over now because it was different previous week.
- 1:44:41And so I sent in a video on myself, solving a 2x2 Rubik's
- 1:44:44cube blindfolded and nice one and because they stood me a post
- 1:44:50on her Instagram, we need a Rubik's Cube wizard.
- 1:44:52I messaged him back saying I don't consider myself a wizard I
- 1:44:55just know how to solve 1. Like what's your best time like
- 1:44:59My best time for Q by 3 is a minute.
- 1:45:01It's like and that's not fast no honest.
- 1:45:04That's not even fast because you have people do 30 seconds.
- 1:45:07There's a teacher someone getting like what less than four
- 1:45:09seconds is the record less than four seconds.
- 1:45:14I don't like for a sec. I think I like the cold on.
- 1:45:17I'm gonna look this up right now, just how people are fasting
- 1:45:22on creep IQ Rubik's Cube. World Record 04, 22 seconds or
- 1:45:31three point, four seven five that's mind-blowing.
- 1:45:34So yeah, you can basically less than 5 Seconds saw one if you're
- 1:45:37good enough, and they're like, but that's not fast.
- 1:45:41Like no, I don't consider that fast.
- 1:45:43I just know how to do it fast. So point where it's a minute and
- 1:45:47my best time for to buy tools like now my best time for two by
- 1:45:50two after doing that videos like 30 seconds blindfolded.
- 1:45:54Yeah well done by 5 would be like like a few minutes because
- 1:45:58that's A lot more returning, and other than those two Hobbies I
- 1:46:05do sing, I do rap not well, but I do it for fun.
- 1:46:11Just I can sing in six languages because I taught myself how to
- 1:46:15do that. Don't want to wrap in one
- 1:46:18language. I can only rock in English
- 1:46:19because rapping in any other language.
- 1:46:21Probably gonna be a lot more difficult.
- 1:46:24Do you think you'll incorporate these things into into your
- 1:46:27podcast in the future? Maybe you like, I've Thought
- 1:46:29about it this but also working out.
- 1:46:32Like what am I going to do with it?
- 1:46:35And how am I going to involve it?
- 1:46:39But yeah, but singing is actually pretty fun.
- 1:46:42Even though, I think I suck at it, I just like, I do it because
- 1:46:45it's fun, like, when I like, before I start recording an
- 1:46:48episode, I like singing a few songs I'll to, like some of
- 1:46:51that, but like, before, like my class and I don't know a lot
- 1:46:56like before, I'm, like, waiting for my class start.
- 1:46:58I'll sing. I like old saying something like
- 1:47:01English French Spanish. Mainly, I haven't sung in
- 1:47:05Italian in a while. Same thing with Romanian
- 1:47:08Portuguese often sometimes. Yeah.
- 1:47:12Nice topping is just wrapping for me.
- 1:47:14It's just because I do talk fast normally.
- 1:47:17Hmm. It's got to the point that
- 1:47:19people don't understand what I say, sometimes, because I can
- 1:47:22say it in one breath, uh, performance.
- 1:47:25It's just Yeah. Okay, rapping is kind of decent,
- 1:47:30that's precious. Thanks for sharing mom.
- 1:47:33And as we draw to a close today, do you have any kind of upcoming
- 1:47:39messages that you'd like to sort of deliver to your fan base?
- 1:47:42Or, you know, maybe people that listen to this podcast or any
- 1:47:46maybe just like final thoughts that you would like to share
- 1:47:48with us? Maybe like some upcoming
- 1:47:53projects, you're working on or something or like, upcoming
- 1:47:56topics upcoming topics. I don't really have them any
- 1:47:59upcoming topics so far because I have a little notebook right
- 1:48:02here, full of them and I haven't looked in here for a while.
- 1:48:06So I've no idea what's in here. I might be incorporating like a
- 1:48:10different formats. I might just I might I'm
- 1:48:13probably going to record an episode sometime soon.
- 1:48:17Hopefully soon if I have to have the time To like give a bit of
- 1:48:21an update on my podcast, like the future of it.
- 1:48:25Hopefully soon. I can upload my thirteenth
- 1:48:28episode of my podcast starring Christian because and I've still
- 1:48:33yet to upload it. It's gonna be a really late
- 1:48:35Halloween special, but it's a Halloween special nonetheless.
- 1:48:39I've always considered November is like s Halloween.
- 1:48:42Anyway, what The Nightmare Before Christmas is the November
- 1:48:46of movies. Beth, because it's Halloween and
- 1:48:51Christmas. It's the November of movies
- 1:48:53because not November is not a movie found Fair enough?
- 1:48:59Yeah. So like what's the genre of this
- 1:49:03movie? November sick?
- 1:49:05What it's both Halloween and Christmas.
- 1:49:08It's like, AA. November.
- 1:49:10Nice. It's like Hovis best of both.
- 1:49:15All this sounds wrong. So that means you not do not
- 1:49:19have Harvest Bread in Canada. I guess who is Fred?
- 1:49:24No, because I've never heard of it.
- 1:49:26It's a type of bread manufacturer, we have here.
- 1:49:29As a particular brand that I don't know if they still make it
- 1:49:32was 50/50, so it's 50%, White's 50 Cent Brown, hence 50/50, you
- 1:49:37know, Beth and their slogan was best of both.
- 1:49:40And I always kind of found that a bit funny.
- 1:49:42I mean, I've made bread before like, I like bacon.
- 1:49:45Well, I've made like last time Made bread.
- 1:49:48I made chocolate babka bread. Oh, and that took like seven
- 1:49:51hours because just like, yeah, it's like wait for everything to
- 1:49:55but it's worth it in the end, and it was a lot of mess because
- 1:49:58there's a A lot of chocolate sauce.
- 1:50:01But damn good on you, making me hungry, it, making me hungry,
- 1:50:05okay. But listen.
- 1:50:07Thank, you've been an awesome guest.
- 1:50:09I've really enjoyed it, I really enjoyed appearing on your
- 1:50:11podcast and I recommend everyone.
- 1:50:14Go check that out. What is the name of your
- 1:50:15podcast? Shout it out now.
- 1:50:18Hearing curiosity, if you can't understand the first time,
- 1:50:21you'll will soon because it's kind of a tongue twister, curing
- 1:50:24curiosity. And I really do believe that on
- 1:50:27Instagram. It's curing underscore, curious,
- 1:50:30the, it's the same. If you type it into YouTube, you
- 1:50:33can find it quite as Facebook and Spotify.
- 1:50:36It's the same thing just curing curiosity.
- 1:50:38Yeah, so obviously, look out for that, you'll hear me on his
- 1:50:42podcast and he's a great interview.
- 1:50:44It was a lot of fun. What is it interview?
- 1:50:46It was, it was kind of like a Experience fun discussion about
- 1:50:49Halloween and other related topics.
- 1:50:51Yeah, we obviously went into the weeds that we did today, but
- 1:50:55it's a lot of fun and yeah, just in general.
- 1:50:59Thank you for agreeing to be a guest on my podcast.
- 1:51:01It's been an absolute pleasure on problem and quick.

- 1:51:44podcast is grow and move forward.
- 1:51:48And yeah, let me know as well we what you think of the video
- 1:51:52Edition because I common bore me introduce this.
- 1:51:54I think it was somewhere around the 1213 Mark, but I remember
- 1:52:00asking for people's feedback on that, I don't remember getting
- 1:52:02it. But yeah, I think some people
- 1:52:04said that it was good because it helps to actually facilitate the
- 1:52:08actual conversation because you can see who you're talking with
- 1:52:11and that's eating that creates a better conversation and I'd
- 1:52:14agree with that point. But yeah, in general, let me
- 1:52:17know what you think of the podcast.
- 1:52:19Let me know if you're still enjoying it.
- 1:52:20Let me know what you'd like to hear in the future.

- 1:52:35I'll see you in the next episode.
- 1:52:36Ciao.
