Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I want to take you back to our top story tonight,
- 0:01Speaker 1: the arrest of former Prince Andrew as part of an
- 0:04Speaker 1: investigation into allegations of suspicion of misconduct in public office.
- 0:08Speaker 2: We mentioned Virginia Roberts Tuffrey earlier in.
- 0:10Speaker 1: The show, who said she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein
- 0:13Speaker 1: to the former Prince. Again, we want to be clear
- 0:15Speaker 1: today's arrest is separate from those accusations, which Andrew denies.
- 0:19Speaker 2: But her family is telling us at.
- 0:20Speaker 1: An interview first to NBC that they woke up to
- 0:23Speaker 1: the news this morning and it felt surreal. Let me
- 0:27Speaker 1: start with the with the news that has that has
- 0:29Speaker 1: broken today, the developing news today, the arrest of now
- 0:33Speaker 1: former Prince Andrew. I'll just ask you very simply, your reaction.
- 0:40Speaker 3: I'm not sure that is fully hit us yet. I
- 0:44Speaker 3: think it feels like this surreal moment, a piece of
- 0:53Speaker 3: justice that, like Virginia has been fighting for this entire time,
- 0:57Speaker 3: and I think we're just so proud, We're so proud,
- 1:03Speaker 3: We're so freaking proud of our sister.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Right now, Scott, tell me what's going through your mind.
- 1:12Speaker 4: I mean, I think what Amana said is perfect. I
- 1:15Speaker 4: think it's a very proud moment for us. I think
- 1:18Speaker 4: the first step here has been taken by the UK,
- 1:21Speaker 4: which is amazing.
- 1:23Speaker 5: I think there's so much more that needs to be
- 1:25Speaker 5: done here.
- 1:26Speaker 4: I'm hoping they conduct a full investigation and there's a
- 1:29Speaker 4: conviction of some sort. I think, you know, the thing
- 1:31Speaker 4: that keeps resonated in my head is when my sister,
- 1:34Speaker 4: you know, she famously said, and I'm just going to
- 1:36Speaker 4: paraphrase this now, but like they know what happened, We
- 1:40Speaker 4: know what happened, and only one of us is telling
- 1:42Speaker 4: the truth, and we know that's us.
- 1:46Speaker 1: One of the things that's worth noting here is that
- 1:48Speaker 1: the arrest, based on our understanding of it, is related
- 1:51Speaker 1: not to the sex abuse allegations that obviously, as you know,
- 1:54Speaker 1: Andrew has denied that Virginia has made. So it's a
- 1:57Speaker 1: separate matter, and I wonder how do you think about
- 1:59Speaker 1: that of it. This is when you talk about sky
- 2:01Speaker 1: a potential conviction, it would be on something separate and
- 2:05Speaker 1: not related directly to Virginia. How do you think about that?
- 2:10Speaker 4: I would say, this is what we've been calling for
- 2:12Speaker 4: the entire time. I mean, in the most recent interviews
- 2:15Speaker 4: you've seen us do. I mean, one of the biggest
- 2:17Speaker 4: things that we continue to state is that if they're
- 2:20Speaker 4: capable of doing this most heinous crime out there, what
- 2:24Speaker 4: else are they capable of doing?
- 2:26Speaker 5: And so that's what we're seeing downstream here, and I
- 2:29Speaker 5: hope that this is just the beginning, because I think
- 2:31Speaker 5: there's a lot to be said.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Amanda, do you see it if there were to be
- 2:35Speaker 1: a conviction here on this matter that is separate from
- 2:39Speaker 1: the allegations at Virginia made, do you see that as
- 2:42Speaker 1: justice for your sister?
- 2:45Speaker 3: It's an increment, right, So when we look at justice
- 2:50Speaker 3: and we look at the way this case breaks down,
- 2:52Speaker 3: and a lot of the reasons why there aren't like
- 2:55Speaker 3: official charges because we're looking at like statch of limitations
- 2:58Speaker 3: in different countries. It can be a lot harder, unfortunately,
- 3:02Speaker 3: to try sexual abuse cases. We encourage the US to
- 3:07Speaker 3: keep the pressure going. The time clock iss like clicking here. Okay,
- 3:14Speaker 3: it's taking in the US, and it's time for us
- 3:17Speaker 3: to start pushing for real justice.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Can you take me to the moment when you found
- 3:23Speaker 1: out when you got the phone call that Andrew had
- 3:26Speaker 1: been arrested overseas.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Oh my god, it's so surreal. Halle.
- 3:33Speaker 4: I can't even describe. I mean, you know, you don't
- 3:36Speaker 4: always get these wins every day. And I know it
- 3:38Speaker 4: may not be directly, you know, correlating to Virginia, but
- 3:41Speaker 4: I do believe Virginia's on the back end pulling some strings.
- 3:45Speaker 4: And how ironic on his birthday, right, So, you know,
- 3:49Speaker 4: it was very surreal. I got a call from Deanie
- 3:52Speaker 4: and it was just, you know, I think a flood
- 3:55Speaker 4: of emotions very quickly. And I'm gonna be honest, I
- 3:57Speaker 4: think we've been up since three o'clock this morning, the
- 4:00Speaker 4: moment the news broke and the adrenaline kicked in, and
- 4:04Speaker 4: I don't think we've been able to go back to bed,
- 4:06Speaker 4: and I think we're just we're still running on that Amanda.
- 4:09Speaker 1: For you, I know it's adrenaline, it's also I can
- 4:10Speaker 1: see it in your face, it's emotion.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I you know, every time these things happen, it
- 4:18Speaker 3: always puts us back to the space of like, we
- 4:20Speaker 3: really wish she was here physically to see it, because
- 4:24Speaker 3: it is her pressure and her truth that has brought
- 4:29Speaker 3: us to this place, that has you know, paved the
- 4:34Speaker 3: way for all of these survivors to come forward and
- 4:37Speaker 3: so you know, there's mixed emotions. We just miss her
- 4:42Speaker 3: so much and wish that we could call her to
- 4:45Speaker 3: just scream on the phone with her, you know, so,
- 4:50Speaker 3: but we're just we're over overwhelmingly proud this morning.
- 4:54Speaker 1: We have obviously the developments overseas. We've got, you know,
- 4:57Speaker 1: a statement from the King himself on all of this
- 5:00Speaker 1: about the investigation. Did you ever think, Skuy, that what
- 5:04Speaker 1: your sister in many ways started when she when she
- 5:08Speaker 1: spoke out publicly, would end up like this at this
- 5:12Speaker 1: high level.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Maybe we always believed her, We always knew that she
- 5:18Speaker 4: was telling the truth. And I feel like, you know,
- 5:21Speaker 4: we're continuing her legacy and putting the pressure on. But
- 5:24Speaker 4: I want to commend the King. I want to continue
- 5:26Speaker 4: to commend the King because what a hard thing to
- 5:29Speaker 4: do to have to come after your own family member.
- 5:33Speaker 5: So I commend the King.
- 5:34Speaker 4: I don't know if we ever thought the day would come,
- 5:36Speaker 4: but we're gonna, We're damn sure going to keep pushing
- 5:38Speaker 4: until it does.
- 5:39Speaker 2: What do you want to see next? We want to
- 5:43Speaker 2: see a thorough investigation.
- 5:45Speaker 3: So I think that like the beginnings of you know,
- 5:48Speaker 3: the charges, where it could be like trade information, I
- 5:52Speaker 3: think that.
- 5:53Speaker 2: We want to see them go further.
- 5:54Speaker 3: We do want them to look into the allegations that
- 5:58Speaker 3: came forward with for so we hope that it's just
- 6:01Speaker 3: the beginning of their investigation, but we hope to see
- 6:05Speaker 3: some investigations here in the United States. We're speaking about
- 6:08Speaker 3: over dozens of rich and powerful men in the US
- 6:12Speaker 3: that we still have yet to see an indictment from
- 6:15Speaker 3: this Department of Justice.
- 6:16Speaker 1: So what's your message, then, Skuty, to the prosecutors in
- 6:19Speaker 1: the UK, to the police in the UK who are
- 6:21Speaker 1: looking into this.
- 6:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean Amanda said it best here. You got
- 6:25Speaker 5: to you need to open the investigation, which they have done,
- 6:27Speaker 5: and then you need to prosecute to the fullest extent.
- 6:30Speaker 4: So if it is found that there's some charges that
- 6:33Speaker 4: need to be brought forward, and then we ask that
- 6:34Speaker 4: you charge him to the fullest extent, and that if
- 6:37Speaker 4: there is a conviction, that he should be placed behind
- 6:39Speaker 4: bars just like where he should be.
- 6:41Speaker 5: If that's what's he's he's done.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Let me ask you while I have you about some
- 6:45Speaker 1: other developments too, including Les Wesner was deposed yesterday, denied
- 6:49Speaker 1: vigorously repeatedly apparently in this in this deposition with the
- 6:52Speaker 1: House Overside Committee any allegations of wrongdoing or sexual misconduct,
- 6:57Speaker 1: and I just wonder these as the House over It
- 7:00Speaker 1: continues to do its work, more depositions potentially on the way.
- 7:03Speaker 1: How you see what's happening in Congress and movement towards
- 7:07Speaker 1: what you have been fighting for on behalf of your sister,
- 7:09Speaker 1: which is justice and accountability.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I think we want to commend the members of Congress
- 7:17Speaker 3: who have taken this on with tenacity, with every.
- 7:23Speaker 5: Roadblock in the way.
- 7:25Speaker 3: I think we're deeply disappointed in every single Republican congress
- 7:30Speaker 3: person that.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Did not show up for that deposition.
- 7:33Speaker 3: We're hoping that they truly are committed. We're talking about
- 7:38Speaker 3: child sex trafficking crimes. This is no small issue, and
- 7:43Speaker 3: that we would hope that they could unify and do
- 7:48Speaker 3: the right thing by these survivors. We need to keep digging,
- 7:51Speaker 3: We need to keep pushing.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Any other message to Americans, to the British people, to
- 7:57Speaker 1: survivors here.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Thank you, Thank you to the people who continue to push,
- 8:05Speaker 3: who continue to believe survivors, who continue to get platforms
- 8:10Speaker 3: for them to come forward and share their stories, And
- 8:13Speaker 3: to every single survivor. Epstein survivors and every survivor in
- 8:18Speaker 3: this world. Today is a day for you too.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Amanda and Sky, thank you so much. I can imagine
- 8:25Speaker 1: you are thinking about your sister today and she is
- 8:27Speaker 1: with you.
- 8:28Speaker 2: What do you think she would say in this moment.
- 8:33Speaker 5: I don't think I can say that publicly. I think
- 8:36Speaker 5: she'd have a lot of words right.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Now, but I guarantee you she would do exactly what
- 8:42Speaker 4: she would say, exactly what Amanda just said.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Here.
- 8:44Speaker 5: This one's for you.
- 8:45Speaker 4: This one's for all victims and survivors out there.
- 8:48Speaker 5: This one is for you.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Our thanks to Sky and Amanda Roberts for that conversation,
- 8:54Speaker 1: and we're going to, of course, continue to follow every
- 8:57Speaker 1: piece of the story and bring you all the details
- 8:59Speaker 1: as we get them.
