- 0:31Speaker 1: just go to Bootleg cav dot com. The fullest of
- 0:33Speaker 1: cities is there. You might hear us. Let's get into
- 0:35Speaker 1: the interview. All right, here we go, man, Bootleg CAV
- 0:40Speaker 1: podcasts a legend, one of the greats, and when I
- 0:45Speaker 1: tell you, one of the greats on the mic, on
- 0:48Speaker 1: the pen, and more importantly, one of the greatest performers
- 0:51Speaker 1: of all time. Man, why Clef Jean family, Yo, it's crazy.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I remember, like when I was a kid, I had
- 1:01Speaker 1: a Do you remember was it what was the magazine
- 1:06Speaker 1: cover you were on the cover of with all the McLarens.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I was DuPont Registry.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, or even knew what McLaren was before the
- 1:17Speaker 1: first person who had one. Yeah yeah.
- 1:19Speaker 2: My dad I learned about cars early.
- 1:21Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:21Speaker 2: My dad was an immigrant when he came up here,
- 1:24Speaker 2: and one of the jobs with mechanics, you know what
- 1:26Speaker 2: I mean. So I was under the hood early I learned.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I learned about air car, but more the the blue
- 1:31Speaker 2: chip cars though, you know what I mean.
- 1:33Speaker 1: For I mean, for sure, what was the most you
- 1:36Speaker 1: that ever spent on a car?
- 1:39Speaker 2: Probably probably like three million dollars? Yeah, yeah, I was
- 1:48Speaker 2: a car dude. And when I decided to go back
- 1:50Speaker 2: to my country, I was so high of my fortune,
- 1:53Speaker 2: like to try to become president of Haiti.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I remember that. What was the three million dollars card?
- 2:00Speaker 1: Did it turn a profit or did you have to
- 2:02Speaker 1: take a loss on him? You sold it? And what
- 2:03Speaker 1: kind of car was?
- 2:04Speaker 2: No, it was like emotional seal for me, right because
- 2:06Speaker 2: it was like I was going back to my country
- 2:08Speaker 2: and I needed a certain amount of money. So, you know,
- 2:11Speaker 2: blue chip cards are like art, you know what I mean.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I took a loss. So but if you want to
- 2:15Speaker 2: know the one that I regret selling the most, the McLaren.
- 2:20Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. The McLaren is worth like today,
- 2:24Speaker 2: like thirty thirty million. You know, I took a loss,
- 2:29Speaker 2: but you know, God is good. Hopefully I'll buy it back. Yo.
- 2:35Speaker 1: What obviously, Man, you're in LA right now doing a
- 2:39Speaker 1: Blue Note. I feel like when we talk about like
- 2:43Speaker 1: the greatest live performers in hip hop history, I feel
- 2:47Speaker 1: like you have to be in that conversation. I remember
- 2:53Speaker 1: seeing you maybe like twenty fourteen, twenty fifteen, like in
- 2:57Speaker 1: some basement at south By Southwest.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I just killing it.
- 3:03Speaker 1: How dope is it for you to be able to
- 3:05Speaker 1: kind of do something like Blue Note where you're able
- 3:09Speaker 1: to kind of show because because you're you're you know,
- 3:11Speaker 1: you do it all man.
- 3:12Speaker 2: So yeah, no, the Blue Note is dope. I said.
- 3:15Speaker 2: The best thing about my life is every month is
- 3:17Speaker 2: a summer gem around the world, you know, and in
- 3:20Speaker 2: a different country. What I love about the Blue Note
- 3:23Speaker 2: is my habitat. You know, I started off as like
- 3:26Speaker 2: a jazz major in high school. So because it's so intimate,
- 3:32Speaker 2: like you know what I mean, you get to see
- 3:33Speaker 2: like y Clev jeng as y Clev Young. You know
- 3:35Speaker 2: what I mean, Because sometimes the stadiums and the arenas
- 3:38Speaker 2: things are like so big, and then the records become
- 3:42Speaker 2: bigger than you. Right, you got to the hits that
- 3:44Speaker 2: I write a bigger than y Clef. You know what
- 3:46Speaker 2: I'm saying to you. They gotta be like that. So
- 3:48Speaker 2: when when you come to an intimate setting like the
- 3:51Speaker 2: Blue Note, you'll be like, oh, I get it. I
- 3:53Speaker 2: understand how how his brain works on the creation tip.
- 3:57Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying to you. Yeah, hundred percent.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You talked to obviously, man. You you come from a
- 4:04Speaker 1: family of immigrants, and right now you know you've you've
- 4:09Speaker 1: never been some of the shy away from you know,
- 4:11Speaker 1: the political side of things. Obviously you ran for president
- 4:15Speaker 1: of your country. I'm curious just what your thoughts are
- 4:18Speaker 1: on what's going on at the moment with Ice and
- 4:22Speaker 1: with just this current administration.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I mean really, you know, I'm very informed. So I
- 4:27Speaker 2: think like the idea of the immigration that didn't start
- 4:31Speaker 2: off from the idea of like Trump, you know what
- 4:33Speaker 2: I'm saying to you, right, So the idea of you know,
- 4:37Speaker 2: you could go back to the Biden administration or the
- 4:40Speaker 2: Obama administration. Right, I think what happens is it's just
- 4:43Speaker 2: more vocal now, right, So you got two forms of college. Yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 2: it's just more on your face. Right, So how do
- 4:50Speaker 2: you want it? Do you want it like hidden on
- 4:54Speaker 2: some brutal shit where they come and they like stab
- 4:56Speaker 2: you in the back, or do you want to know
- 4:58Speaker 2: what's happening in the front. You know what I'm say
- 5:00Speaker 2: and to you. So for me, what I do is
- 5:02Speaker 2: I tell all of my immigrant people, like get your
- 5:05Speaker 2: papers right, because where we're at right now is like
- 5:08Speaker 2: them boys are not playing right. We could talk about injustice,
- 5:13Speaker 2: what's right, what's wrong with past president administrations, But at
- 5:17Speaker 2: the end of the day, the reality is always remember
- 5:21Speaker 2: a president term is for the eight years, right when
- 5:25Speaker 2: you are in your when you and your boroughs, who's
- 5:32Speaker 2: representing you in DC? I think that's more like y'all
- 5:35Speaker 2: got a concentration because a lot of people concentrate on
- 5:37Speaker 2: the actual election itself, right, who's going to be the president?
- 5:41Speaker 2: I think that y'all got to focus on who you know,
- 5:44Speaker 2: who's going to be representing y'all in DC. That's just
- 5:47Speaker 2: how I feel about it.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Dude, you know, I just feel like, yeah, like what
- 5:50Speaker 1: you were saying, like it's more in our face now,
- 5:51Speaker 1: and I just feel like that's even just like globally,
- 5:53Speaker 1: you know, with the politics stuff, like the mask is
- 5:55Speaker 1: kind of off and it's like at least kind of
- 5:57Speaker 1: now the craziness is being hidden from if you will,
- 6:00Speaker 1: like you can then see a lot of the shit
- 6:01Speaker 1: going on in the world right now, you know what
- 6:03Speaker 1: I mean.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah, No, it's it's like to your point. So all
- 6:06Speaker 2: I'm saying is I rather know what's going on right
- 6:10Speaker 2: I know what's going on right now, so I could
- 6:13Speaker 2: just tell my immigrants right now, everybody make sure that
- 6:15Speaker 2: your papers are right, because there are not playing right now,
- 6:19Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. Literally, it's all in your
- 6:21Speaker 2: face right. So, and then I'm saying as we move forward,
- 6:25Speaker 2: as y'all continue to vote, just make sure that you
- 6:29Speaker 2: know that you look at the House of Representative and
- 6:31Speaker 2: make sure that the people that you're voting for represent
- 6:34Speaker 2: your policies.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Yeah, and represent the constituents which on both sides. Facts.
- 6:40Speaker 2: There you go, that part, that part.
- 6:44Speaker 1: What is uh what when you ran for president of Haiti,
- 6:47Speaker 1: obviously this is a country that has been destabilized over
- 6:50Speaker 1: and over by the United States, by France, by the West,
- 6:53Speaker 1: by all kinds of interests. What was the uphill battle
- 7:00Speaker 1: running for president? And what did you learn about this
- 7:05Speaker 1: the process? Because I feel like Haiti doesn't get talked
- 7:08Speaker 1: about enough in terms of like our part as the
- 7:11Speaker 1: United States and the West having a direct hand and
- 7:14Speaker 1: continuously kind of installing the facto governments and destabilizing the country.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I would say, like why should we even
- 7:23Speaker 2: be concerned about Haiti. I just think like there's a
- 7:25Speaker 2: part of history that connects America with Haiti. Just everybody
- 7:29Speaker 2: that's listening to this, like, let's just talk about Louisiana purchase, right,
- 7:34Speaker 2: I think like the Haitians was strategic and helping this
- 7:37Speaker 2: big the biggest real estate deal land.
- 7:43Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 7:44Speaker 2: What did I learn? It's basically this eighty percent of
- 7:46Speaker 2: a country is living on less than a dollar a day.
- 7:49Speaker 2: And what made me feel bold enough that I could
- 7:51Speaker 2: change it? Right at the end of the day, we know,
- 7:54Speaker 2: like all countries are in debt, right, that's not a
- 7:58Speaker 2: new thing. But I felt that with Haiti. The environment,
- 8:02Speaker 2: the environmental situation, I felt through carbon credit we actually
- 8:06Speaker 2: had a chance to rebuild that country. I felt that
- 8:09Speaker 2: moving forward, as I'm speaking to you right now in Haiti,
- 8:13Speaker 2: I got one of the most progressive robotic programs that
- 8:17Speaker 2: I sponsor that's coming out of Jacquemail, which means that
- 8:20Speaker 2: kids that leave jacquem Mail that go compete globally Greece,
- 8:25Speaker 2: Panama and in different places. So I saw that if
- 8:28Speaker 2: we could instill that sense of hope inside of the
- 8:32Speaker 2: youth right and focus on the anti corruption law because
- 8:37Speaker 2: everywhere is anti corprrestion, but really enforce that law because
- 8:41Speaker 2: at the end of the day, listen, keV we could
- 8:43Speaker 2: blame everybody on the outside, but it starts with your
- 8:46Speaker 2: own home. So what I mean by that is our
- 8:49Speaker 2: politicians are so fucked up that they could be bought
- 8:52Speaker 2: so quick that they can't stand for something. So you
- 8:56Speaker 2: have to be able to stand for something, you know.
- 8:58Speaker 2: So I felt like at the end of the I
- 9:00Speaker 2: was going to bring something to that country, which was important.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I felt we could have rebuilt the workforce through education
- 9:07Speaker 2: and keep in mind we only an hour from Miami,
- 9:11Speaker 2: so just think of how we can trade for trade
- 9:13Speaker 2: in the States. I felt like we have human capital
- 9:16Speaker 2: at the end of the day, do you want to
- 9:18Speaker 2: continue to outsource a lot of this to China and
- 9:21Speaker 2: to India when you have somewhere here where as long
- 9:24Speaker 2: as you make the labor fear, it will work for us,
- 9:26Speaker 2: you know, things like that.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Hey want to give a shout out to my bookie
- 9:29Speaker 1: Man back on the Bootleg cap podcast. Oh listen, super
- 9:33Speaker 1: Bowls here. You already know what it is, man, the
- 9:35Speaker 1: funnest thing to gamble on every year, all right, no
- 9:38Speaker 1: matter where you're at. By the way, you can use

- 9:44Speaker 1: a you know, perspective who they think is gonna win.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I'm rooting for the Seahawks. My Cardinals are from the
- 9:49Speaker 1: NFC West. I happen to hate the Patriots more than
- 9:51Speaker 1: anything in life, including their owner. So we're rooting for
- 9:54Speaker 1: the Seahawks. But listen, you got to use my bookie.
- 9:57Speaker 1: They've got their Super Bowl prop board. It is insane,
- 10:00Speaker 1: all right. They get talked about on Jimmy Kimmel Live

- 10:05Speaker 1: in on the action. You can bet on so much stuff.

- 10:13Speaker 1: your bet doesn't hit, use your bet back bonus token
- 10:17Speaker 1: and run it back. All right. When I tell you
- 10:19Speaker 1: the prop board is crazy, I mean obviously you do
- 10:21Speaker 1: the touchdown scores, you could do color Gatorade. I mean, listen,
- 10:25Speaker 1: it is lit. My Bookie is my preferred sports book
- 10:29Speaker 1: for the last ten years at least. So make sure
- 10:32Speaker 1: you go to my Bookie right now. Use that promo
- 10:34Speaker 1: code Bootleg sign up and get that free five hundred
- 10:37Speaker 1: dollars bet. All right, why not put it on the
- 10:39Speaker 1: super Bowl or some NBA You know what I'm saying,
- 10:41Speaker 1: Bet on the Suns every time. Let's get back to
- 10:43Speaker 1: the podcast. That's smart, man. I want to obviously say
- 10:46Speaker 1: rest in peace to John Forte who passed away.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Brother man.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yeah, obviously such an important part of your guys a story,
- 10:55Speaker 1: your story. How are you doing? Man? Man?
- 10:59Speaker 2: Is no joke, you know, because with Forte it was brutal,
- 11:03Speaker 2: it was subtle. I got my man. Michael had tapped
- 11:07Speaker 2: me on the phone and I thought he was saying,
- 11:10Speaker 2: I Pete another one of my boys that I lost
- 11:12Speaker 2: like three weeks ago. And then in the morning I
- 11:15Speaker 2: got the call. The text from Miss Hill and Lauren
- 11:19Speaker 2: was like, Yo, I just got like some bad news.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Just check for me and verify. You know what I'm
- 11:26Speaker 2: saying to you. So I hit Forte like literally, like
- 11:31Speaker 2: on my phone. We share music, you know what I'm saying.
- 11:34Speaker 2: So it's like so while I'm working on my project,
- 11:38Speaker 2: I would send him stuff and he would send me stuff.
- 11:41Speaker 2: So every month we at least tap in. So I'm like, YO,
- 11:45Speaker 2: text me so I know you good? Can you imagine that?
- 11:48Speaker 2: I'm like, yo, text me, know you good? And then
- 11:50Speaker 2: my other man sent me the ky He was like, no,
- 11:53Speaker 2: be gone. So it was definitely like it was fucked up. Man,
- 11:57Speaker 2: it's fucked up.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Yeah, he's the guy like you think of When I
- 12:00Speaker 1: think of the Refugee All Stars, I think of John Forte. Man.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I'm saying. We always called John
- 12:05Speaker 2: and for Fuji and it's so true, and I always say, like,
- 12:08Speaker 2: the score wouldn't it sounded the way it did without John?
- 12:11Speaker 2: He contributed a.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Lot, Yeah, for sure. How how for you?
- 12:16Speaker 2: Man?
- 12:17Speaker 1: Like I always wondered this, I want to get to
- 12:21Speaker 1: some Fuji stuff. But when you come out of the
- 12:24Speaker 1: Score and you're crafting The Carnival, which kind of turned
- 12:29Speaker 1: you into a pop star. There was like a there
- 12:32Speaker 1: was like a switch that happened, like like I almost
- 12:34Speaker 1: like a switch was flipped and like you were you
- 12:36Speaker 1: were like a running MTV. Did you dropped like this
- 12:39Speaker 1: exceptual album?
- 12:40Speaker 2: Right?
- 12:41Speaker 1: Yeah? And like you're putting your homies on. What was like,
- 12:47Speaker 1: was there was there any pressure working on that album?
- 12:49Speaker 1: And like, obviously it it definitely like you delivered, but
- 12:52Speaker 1: I just I can only imagine like the first album
- 12:55Speaker 1: after this all time classic the Score Grammy winning award,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and like you're going solo. Lauren's obviously Lauren, but you're
- 13:04Speaker 1: crafting up this original idea and you know obviously worked.
- 13:08Speaker 1: But what was the pressure like making the Carnival.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Nah, it was like the pressure was like can we
- 13:14Speaker 2: get another score? And so what happened was the fujis
- 13:22Speaker 2: just we just became like the hip hop beatles You
- 13:25Speaker 2: feel me? And that's pretty scary for someone like me
- 13:30Speaker 2: who's a super creative, Like I'm about the art first.
- 13:36Speaker 2: So at the end of the day, when I did
- 13:40Speaker 2: the Carnival, man, there's nothing in my brain where the
- 13:45Speaker 2: Carnival would be accepted the way that it was accepted. Right.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I had absolutely no pressure. I said that I'm going
- 13:53Speaker 2: to create a piece of art that's the reverse of
- 13:56Speaker 2: the score. You see what I'm saying. So in this art,
- 14:00Speaker 2: there was nothing about it, like no one was saying.
- 14:03Speaker 2: So today you got afrobeads, you got all of this,
- 14:07Speaker 2: you got y year, you got this. So one kid
- 14:10Speaker 2: come and be like, Yo, I'm gonna have one album.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna have this go on it. I'm gonna put
- 14:14Speaker 2: the Philharmonic Orchestra on it. I'm gonna put five languages
- 14:18Speaker 2: on there, and I'm gonna be putting on It's like,
- 14:21Speaker 2: what are you doing so to me? Like Boscia, I
- 14:25Speaker 2: was just painting and abstract painting of how I saw
- 14:30Speaker 2: the world, you know what I'm saying. And so there
- 14:32Speaker 2: was nothing in my brain that was commercial about the Carnivore,
- 14:37Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying to you, Like even like
- 14:40Speaker 2: all the stories, like when you hear the Interluse, the
- 14:42Speaker 2: way it tied up, even with a record like the Beg's,
- 14:46Speaker 2: it's staying alive, like everything ties to a story, Like
- 14:50Speaker 2: when I saw John Travolta and Greece and then the
- 14:54Speaker 2: way that he walked I was like, Yo, this dude
- 14:57Speaker 2: and I'm in the projects and I've seen that. I say,
- 14:59Speaker 2: y're one day, I'm gonna do it video like him.
- 15:00Speaker 2: So it's literally like me taking all my childhood memories
- 15:04Speaker 2: and putting him in something. So in my head there
- 15:06Speaker 2: was nothing that was gonna be turned me into a
- 15:09Speaker 2: pop star.
- 15:10Speaker 1: That makes sense, And it's crazy too because if you
- 15:13Speaker 1: think about nineteen ninety seven, there's like the like kind
- 15:15Speaker 1: of like I guess, like the beginning of like the
- 15:20Speaker 1: Mace Diddy colorful shit.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Of course. Yeah, I mean I actually jumped out of
- 15:26Speaker 2: the window. I mean out of the airplane. Remember that
- 15:29Speaker 2: video been around the world. Yes, I'm the guy who
- 15:31Speaker 2: jumps out of the airplane.
- 15:33Speaker 1: But it's it's funny because back then, right, keeping it
- 15:37Speaker 1: real was a thing that people would say, were you
- 15:40Speaker 1: at all nervous to Like, nobody in hip hop would
- 15:43Speaker 1: have the right mind to be like, I'm gonna flip
- 15:45Speaker 1: a Begie song and it's gonna be fly and it's
- 15:47Speaker 1: not gonna be corny, Like that's a hard thing to
- 15:49Speaker 1: pull off.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Well, the thing is I didn't. I don't know what
- 15:51Speaker 2: they mean by keep it real. I'm from Haiti, I'm
- 15:54Speaker 2: from a hut, the village, slum dog millionaire. Then I
- 15:58Speaker 2: get to Marlboro Projects, I'm in Brooklyn, Coney Island, you
- 16:02Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. Where I see the homies, you know,
- 16:05Speaker 2: complaining about their sneakers and the problem. I'm like, Yo,
- 16:08Speaker 2: what are those? You know what I'm saying, And were
- 16:10Speaker 2: like what are those? And I'm like, yo, bro, where
- 16:12Speaker 2: I come from, Man, it's like one pair of shoes.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Right then we go to Jersey. So my idea always
- 16:18Speaker 2: in my brain of keeping it real is like, Yo,
- 16:20Speaker 2: if you ain't gonna go to college and you ain't
- 16:22Speaker 2: gonna sell drugs, what are you gonna do to take
- 16:25Speaker 2: care of your family? So that's always been my mindset,
- 16:28Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. And then when it come
- 16:29Speaker 2: to the music, dog, I wasn't trying to be to me,
- 16:33Speaker 2: hip hop was the culture. But I was looking at
- 16:36Speaker 2: people like Gershwin, Quincy Jones, and I was like, Yo,
- 16:40Speaker 2: if I could do what Quincy did, even a fraction
- 16:42Speaker 2: of it, I was like, I'm gonna have a job
- 16:44Speaker 2: for the rest of my life.
- 16:45Speaker 1: That's how I was just looking at it. I mean,
- 16:48Speaker 1: and like, you know what it was funny because I
- 16:51Speaker 1: remember when the Versus thing was happening during COVID. I
- 16:53Speaker 1: was like, man, I don't know, Man, if why Cliff
- 16:56Speaker 1: ends up doing a versus, he got some shit he
- 16:59Speaker 1: could pull out that not a lot of people can, like, I.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Mean, our catalogs insanity, insanity that.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Happens if you played No, No, No. You know what
- 17:09Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like.
- 17:10Speaker 2: It's a global it's a global entry. You know what
- 17:12Speaker 2: I'm saying, because I got you know, if I do
- 17:15Speaker 2: a versus, you got to tune in in every part
- 17:17Speaker 2: of the planet, right because I might do something and
- 17:20Speaker 2: it don't work here and Nigeria go crazy. You know
- 17:23Speaker 2: what I'm saying. The next song Columbia go create one man,
- 17:30Speaker 2: I wanted to.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I'm a huge wrestling fan and recently four or five
- 17:35Speaker 1: years ago, Tech nine got the rock to actually do
- 17:38Speaker 1: a verse on a song where he rapped. But you're
- 17:42Speaker 1: like the guy who actually in the in the middle
- 17:45Speaker 1: of the Attitude era, you do this song with the
- 17:47Speaker 1: rock music video, everything on the eclectic. What was like
- 17:52Speaker 1: the idea were you a wrestling fan and like, what
- 17:54Speaker 1: was the idea of bringing the rock?
- 17:57Speaker 2: So's it's funny you say that because my next project
- 17:59Speaker 2: is like seven album once a month, and it's like
- 18:03Speaker 2: bending seven genres that I've bend in the past thirty years.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Like I'm the first of a lot of stuff. But
- 18:08Speaker 2: I don't want to sound like little Richard and tell
- 18:10Speaker 2: y'all invented rock and roll. You know what I'm saying,
- 18:13Speaker 2: Who but the rock and maya wrestling fan. So I
- 18:18Speaker 2: go back with wrestling. Let's talk about it, man, Peter
- 18:22Speaker 2: fly Snooker, Let's talk about it. Andre the Giant. I'm
- 18:26Speaker 2: talking about sitting here in Brooklyn where my grandma is
- 18:29Speaker 2: next to me, and god forbid you tell her wrestling
- 18:33Speaker 2: is fake. You know what I'm saying, Like she come
- 18:36Speaker 2: down with you on an arm chot. You know what
- 18:38Speaker 2: I'm saying to you? What's my Irish man Roddy Piper?
- 18:43Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Like he came out with
- 18:45Speaker 2: the quilt. You know what I'm saying, the original young thug,
- 18:47Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, came on with So so yeah,
- 18:52Speaker 2: I was I'm a big wrestling fan. And so again,
- 18:57Speaker 2: you know when I called the rock up, it was
- 19:00Speaker 2: like me and at the time my sister, she was
- 19:02Speaker 2: real little and we both was fans of the Rock,
- 19:05Speaker 2: and I hit him. I was like, yo, man, I
- 19:06Speaker 2: need you. I got this. You know, you know I
- 19:09Speaker 2: love the slogan it doesn't matter. And I got this
- 19:11Speaker 2: real cool sky record. He came in, We did the record,
- 19:16Speaker 2: shot the video. You know what I'm saying to you,
- 19:18Speaker 2: So the Rock. You know you're watching this right now,
- 19:21Speaker 2: you know you boil wile clev Sean, I might need
- 19:24Speaker 2: another verse.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Hey, we gott to stop the interview to tell you
- 19:27Speaker 1: about our good folks, odd Socks.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Man.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Now, these are the odd Socks Basics, ladies and gentlemen.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Now when I tell you this is a product that
- 19:36Speaker 1: every single day I'm alive for the last five six
- 19:41Speaker 1: years I have used are these odd socks Basics. Now,
- 19:44Speaker 1: what odd Socks is doing is they're kind of reinventing
- 19:46Speaker 1: the sock game, if we're being honest, and the underwear game.
- 19:49Speaker 1: You know, a lot of times you'll hit Walmart, you'll
- 19:51Speaker 1: hit Target, you'll get some socks, you get some draws.
- 19:53Speaker 1: They're affordable, stand up with holes in them. They don't
- 19:56Speaker 1: really feel great. Not odd socks, ladies, jum. Odd Socks
- 20:00Speaker 1: Basics are the most comfortable socks I've ever had on
- 20:03Speaker 1: my feet. Not only that, but you're super affordable fourteen

- 20:18Speaker 1: that's the ex is on the other side. There we go. Ah,
- 20:23Speaker 1: you see that. Sorry you had to see those white legs.
- 20:26Speaker 1: But it's so dope that, you know, I get to
- 20:30Speaker 1: push a product that I use and that I love,
- 20:32Speaker 1: so odd socks they got the six pack of socks
- 20:34Speaker 1: for fourteen ninety nine a odd socks dot com. The basics.
- 20:37Speaker 1: This is the future of socks, the future of underwear
- 20:42Speaker 1: comfort and affordability. I'm talking about affordability without jeopardizing the
- 20:46Speaker 1: quality because they are the most comfortable socks you ever
- 20:49Speaker 1: put on your feet. Ladies and gents and the Etcetera's
- 20:52Speaker 1: got to show love to the ETCeteras we like all
- 20:54Speaker 1: the stripes on the flag there are odd socks dot Com. Man,
- 20:58Speaker 1: much love to my brothers over there. Makes you get
- 21:00Speaker 1: some right now, odd socks dot COM's get back to
- 21:02Speaker 1: the interview. Hey, I respect it. Let's talk about for you.
- 21:09Speaker 1: You've been a part of so many people's careers. I
- 21:14Speaker 1: am curious the one guy who I interviewed him a
- 21:19Speaker 1: couple of years ago. Obviously Cannabis, right, Cannabis was kind
- 21:23Speaker 1: of like I mean, as a wordsmith, as just a
- 21:27Speaker 1: pure lyricist, he's like one of the greatest guys to
- 21:29Speaker 1: put words on a paper. You know, he's a he's a.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Of all time. Yeah, you're like, he gonna be credited
- 21:34Speaker 2: for that.
- 21:36Speaker 1: And that can I Bus album would like get retarded
- 21:38Speaker 1: and Nward Noometry and you know, second Round Knockout. I mean,
- 21:43Speaker 1: such a great album. But what was your thought, because
- 21:46Speaker 1: you would always hear like people I think the ll
- 21:49Speaker 1: thing obviously played into it, but like, what was your
- 21:51Speaker 1: thought on like kind of what went wrong and why
- 21:53Speaker 1: Cannabis didn't end up maybe getting to the potential that
- 21:56Speaker 1: a lot of people had hoped he would have reached.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Well, I think that if you go back right now
- 22:00Speaker 2: and you look at the Cannabis where we're saying everything
- 22:04Speaker 2: go wrong, how many artists could come in number two?
- 22:08Speaker 2: That's the first thing. And right now, if you look
- 22:12Speaker 2: at the numbers statistically, whereas can I bust at what
- 22:16Speaker 2: kind of plaque is Cannabis sitting on right now with
- 22:19Speaker 2: all of the other rappers that came out in this era.
- 22:22Speaker 2: So let's start off by saying that I think that
- 22:27Speaker 2: anyone who understands how the game work, we always say
- 22:31Speaker 2: the freshman is a putt right, right, and ideas to
- 22:36Speaker 2: get to the south more. Now you might come in
- 22:39Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying to bat, you know what
- 22:43Speaker 2: I mean, and be from the Dominican Republic like my brothers.
- 22:47Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying and be able to tap
- 22:49Speaker 2: in something. So I think that because the hype was
- 22:53Speaker 2: so strong that the focus was lost on the idea
- 22:57Speaker 2: of like, let's just keep going, you know what I mean,
- 23:00Speaker 2: and the thing is coming in from a manager structure.
- 23:05Speaker 2: He had managers and he had right because I felt
- 23:08Speaker 2: like if I was overall on the overall thing, from
- 23:13Speaker 2: the management, from the exec to all the thing, my
- 23:16Speaker 2: speech is real simple. The Fujis had blunted on reality
- 23:20Speaker 2: and we didn't kick it to the score. So if
- 23:22Speaker 2: your first project, you you you surpassed the Fujis on
- 23:27Speaker 2: a whole another level, right, because it's all about that
- 23:30Speaker 2: global entry vibe. That's how I was looking at it.
- 23:33Speaker 2: What would your second project be like? So at the
- 23:36Speaker 2: end of the day, I still credit Cannabis is one
- 23:39Speaker 2: of the illest lyricists. But history tells the tell look back,
- 23:43Speaker 2: what is can I bust now certified gold? Right, look
- 23:49Speaker 2: back in the era, everybody that's talking shit, show me
- 23:53Speaker 2: your gold album. In that era, like very few of
- 23:57Speaker 2: y'all are still around. So at the end of the day,
- 24:00Speaker 2: I felt that all can had to do was keep going.
- 24:05Speaker 1: That's it. Yeah, And it's like almost like back then
- 24:10Speaker 1: it was a little harder to do that. Yeah, I
- 24:12Speaker 1: had like I had the same conversation with raz Cast
- 24:14Speaker 1: because I kind of felt like ras Cast was like,
- 24:16Speaker 1: LA's cannabis, Uh huh, Away, I understand, But like you know,
- 24:22Speaker 1: today it's easy to just keep because you could just
- 24:25Speaker 1: you know, back then it was you had to get
- 24:27Speaker 1: a CD, you had to get the label to really
- 24:29Speaker 1: sign off on ship, you know what I mean, because
- 24:31Speaker 1: everything counted against your contract. But not shout out to cannabis. Man.
- 24:34Speaker 2: You know, Cannabis is still one of the illness, and
- 24:38Speaker 2: I'm just fortunate to have like really, you know, watched
- 24:42Speaker 2: him pen things down. Man. First, dude, I saw who
- 24:46Speaker 2: built the website from the computer?
- 24:47Speaker 3: Bro?
- 24:49Speaker 2: Crazy?
- 24:50Speaker 1: Yeah, do you remember your reaction to first hearing second
- 24:56Speaker 1: Round Knockout.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I mean what you mean my reaction. I produced the
- 24:59Speaker 2: rect so.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Like he's he's in the he's in the in the booth.
- 25:04Speaker 2: You guys are saying like me and Jerry Wonder are
- 25:07Speaker 2: producing the record, and I'm like, Yo, we're gonna go
- 25:09Speaker 2: get into.
- 25:10Speaker 1: It, intentionally replying to four three two one the.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Verse, Yeah, well that's all cannabis. I'm the producer, you
- 25:16Speaker 2: know what I'm saying to you. So I'm gonna get hit.
- 25:19Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying a producer, Bob, You're gonna
- 25:21Speaker 2: get slapped at the time, don't matter who's doing to beat. Oh,
- 25:24Speaker 2: you're gonna throw up in the video, you know. King Like, Okay,
- 25:27Speaker 2: you're gonna get this work too. You know what I'm
- 25:29Speaker 2: saying to you again, looking back at it, That's just
- 25:34Speaker 2: part of hip hop, right, So one person says something
- 25:38Speaker 2: the other person. That's just how hip hop goes and
- 25:42Speaker 2: and at the end of the day, I think that's
- 25:44Speaker 2: what makes the sport a beautiful thing. At the end
- 25:46Speaker 2: of the day.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Yeah, there was some lines in there. I feel like,
- 25:51Speaker 1: you know, second Round Knockout to one of the all
- 25:53Speaker 1: time great disc records, and I feel like I can
- 25:55Speaker 1: only imagine what it be like to hear the ninety
- 25:57Speaker 1: nine percent of your fans were high heels live in
- 25:59Speaker 1: the state, Like, oh shit, what's he gonna say to that?
- 26:03Speaker 1: Shout out to cannabis though, man.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yeah, no, cannabis is dope again, you know, shout out
- 26:07Speaker 2: to Canba. Also, shout out the l because I think
- 26:10Speaker 2: when you're looking back at eras of Battlesdible, Yeah, like
- 26:14Speaker 2: when we looking back at battles like because his story.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I think that people have to understand when we talk
- 26:20Speaker 2: about the battle, right, the idea of like battle and
- 26:23Speaker 2: lyrical jouson. We just have a few amazing ones that
- 26:27Speaker 2: happened in history, and that was one of them.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Yeah, was it your idea or his idea to try
- 26:32Speaker 1: to get Mike Tyson onto it?
- 26:34Speaker 2: No, that was cannabis idea. He's a big Mike Tyson fan.
- 26:39Speaker 2: And you know, like he would study like cannabis would
- 26:41Speaker 2: be studying like a lot of training things, you know
- 26:45Speaker 2: what I'm saying. Like he would be the one he'd
- 26:46Speaker 2: come with the computer and be like, yo, just what
- 26:48Speaker 2: the Navy seals are doing now, you know what I mean?
- 26:50Speaker 2: And you know later he went he ended up going
- 26:53Speaker 2: to uh the military for sure.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Yeah. No. When I talked to him, we talked about that. Now.
- 26:59Speaker 1: It's crazy how we can talk about you producing one
- 27:01Speaker 1: of the most vicious hip hop beef records of all time,
- 27:06Speaker 1: and then you're also the guy who, you know.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I never really knew that she could dance like this.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I want to talk about Santana. You're working with Carlos.
- 27:16Speaker 2: That's my that's my godfather.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Man.
- 27:18Speaker 2: I make sure I send them a text every week.
- 27:23Speaker 1: And it's crazy because you were like very instrumental in
- 27:26Speaker 1: like reintroducing like a legend from like my parents' era.
- 27:30Speaker 1: I had to man to like the MTV kids, you know.
- 27:35Speaker 2: I felt like it was very important. I felt like
- 27:36Speaker 2: the culture needed it at the time. When Clive Davis
- 27:40Speaker 2: hit me up, his first question was like, Yo, do
- 27:42Speaker 2: you know Santana. I was like, what, Like, it's me why, clep.
- 27:46Speaker 2: It's like, actually me, do I know Jimmy Hendricks? You
- 27:48Speaker 2: know what? Right? So, so, of course, like, yo, Santana
- 27:52Speaker 2: is like one of those ones. I was dying to
- 27:54Speaker 2: get in the studio with Santana because I had so
- 27:57Speaker 2: much and I don't know, if you know, Antenna's gangster
- 28:02Speaker 2: like don't make no mistake on some peace type like
- 28:06Speaker 2: meaning like he really was that boy, like he stood
- 28:08Speaker 2: up like with the panthers, you know what I mean.
- 28:11Speaker 2: He really was about it. So for me just being
- 28:15Speaker 2: in the studio with him, shit was amazing.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Man.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Can you tell me who was the most either nervous
- 28:26Speaker 1: or I want to use the word intimidated because that's
- 28:28Speaker 1: got kind of got a negative uh context to it.
- 28:32Speaker 1: But who was the most nervous person? You Like, if
- 28:34Speaker 1: you like you knew you were going in to work
- 28:36Speaker 1: with Blank and you maybe were like a little like,
- 28:39Speaker 1: oh shit, this is crazy, Like I'm a little like it.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Maybe your starstruck, maybe you're nervous, Like who was that
- 28:45Speaker 1: person for you at all?
- 28:47Speaker 2: Yeah? I said, definitely like two people Michael Jackson and
- 28:51Speaker 2: Whitney Houston. Oh yeah, but more so Whitney. You know
- 28:55Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Like coming from Jersey, it's like you know,
- 28:58Speaker 2: being in high school. Yehs like I belive lead the
- 29:00Speaker 2: children or the future, and you like, yo, I'm going
- 29:04Speaker 2: in with Whitney. You know what I'm saying to you?
- 29:05Speaker 2: It was that was pretty I ain't gonna front. I
- 29:09Speaker 2: definitely was nervous with that one.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Whitney probably the greatest voice of all time.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. I was nervous with that one.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Did you You know I always hear people. I was
- 29:23Speaker 1: just talking with John B the R and B Legend
- 29:26Speaker 1: and he shared a manager with Michael Jackson back in
- 29:29Speaker 1: the nineties, and I was like, yo, man, when you
- 29:32Speaker 1: met Mike, Like, did he have an aura to him?
- 29:34Speaker 1: Like when you worked with him? Did he have like
- 29:36Speaker 1: a you know, there's a few people I've met were
- 29:38Speaker 1: like they just like got a glow, like you're like,
- 29:40Speaker 1: oh shit, yeah, you know what's crazy.
- 29:44Speaker 2: I saw something surfacing online of like some unreleased Michael
- 29:48Speaker 2: Jackson stuff that I've done, like had written when I
- 29:51Speaker 2: penned when he was at the Hit Factory, and that's
- 29:53Speaker 2: still like somehow I think like they're selling it or
- 29:56Speaker 2: something now some some weird stuff's going on. But I
- 30:00Speaker 2: would say like with Mike being in the studio with
- 30:06Speaker 2: him and just being somebody who play over like fourteen instruments,
- 30:12Speaker 2: I learned something. And I learned like when Mike was like, yo,
- 30:15Speaker 2: the orchestra live in your head. Anything you can think of,
- 30:18Speaker 2: like you can do you know what I mean? Like
- 30:21Speaker 2: that that sort of like power, So you gotta understand
- 30:23Speaker 2: I'm in a studio with Michael Jackson. But then I
- 30:25Speaker 2: would pop up at a print show, right because I
- 30:29Speaker 2: like to see. And then Prince would do something ill
- 30:32Speaker 2: like you see how I'm gonna be at the Blue
- 30:33Speaker 2: Note like he would like he'll leave some big stadium somewhere,
- 30:37Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, and then he'll pop up
- 30:39Speaker 2: in the smallest joint with a band and just crush it.
- 30:42Speaker 2: So for me, what I learned about all of them, man,
- 30:45Speaker 2: was like the pulse like you always have. The pulse
- 30:49Speaker 2: of the generation means like you gotta be in the
- 30:52Speaker 2: mud to understand it, you know what I mean?
- 30:55Speaker 1: Nah, for sure, talk to me. You were on Capitol Punishment,
- 31:00Speaker 1: one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time.
- 31:02Speaker 2: My brother Big Pun, Fat Joe Crew.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Yeah, talk to me about what it was like. Could
- 31:10Speaker 1: you talk about that era? There's that famous photo of
- 31:14Speaker 1: like Cannabis DMX, Most Deaf and Big Pun like at
- 31:18Speaker 1: the booth. Yeah, Like you know, so like that's I
- 31:22Speaker 1: feel like Capital Punishment is one of them. Once. What
- 31:23Speaker 1: was it like working with pun?
- 31:26Speaker 2: You know what was incredible about working with pun? Keep
- 31:29Speaker 2: in mind I'm probably one of the most underrated MC's ever.
- 31:37Speaker 2: But anybody who's watching this, catch me on any block,
- 31:42Speaker 2: on any stage, anywhere, and I'm gonna get at you.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Fat Joe. He knew, like I could really bar. You
- 31:52Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. Pun is literally like it's like
- 31:57Speaker 2: putting me up to bar with a killer killer. You
- 31:59Speaker 2: know what I mean I'm saying. And the verse I
- 32:01Speaker 2: did was so hard. Dudes, was like, Yo, Cannabis must
- 32:05Speaker 2: have wrote W Clubs verse, right, That's how hard the verse.
- 32:08Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, I guess they never heard
- 32:10Speaker 2: the Fuji's first album, Blunting on Reality. You know what
- 32:12Speaker 2: I'm saying to you. But Yo, being in the studio
- 32:15Speaker 2: with Pun Yo Twin Yo Twin, you know what I'm saying,
- 32:18Speaker 2: Like Twin, I just need that verse, you know. And
- 32:20Speaker 2: then I was feeding off his energy. You feel what
- 32:25Speaker 2: I'm saying to you. And it's sort of like two
- 32:29Speaker 2: people that like make me want to rap when I'm
- 32:32Speaker 2: in well three people with a Pun made me do that.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Lauren made me do that, and Lil Wayne like because
- 32:37Speaker 2: it's sort of like, you know, Pun his verses, how
- 32:41Speaker 2: he put his words together, his similes. It's like Okay,
- 32:45Speaker 2: ain't no guitar playing here.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Bro.
- 32:48Speaker 2: You know it's like Mike to Mike, talk to me, twin.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Let's get into it.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Hey, what's up?
- 32:54Speaker 3: Man?
- 32:55Speaker 1: We gotta give a shout out to our new sponsor,
- 32:57Speaker 1: Raffie Law Group. Listen, I don't partner with just and
- 33:00Speaker 1: if you're from Arizona, all my az people who are watching,
- 33:03Speaker 1: y'all know, call Raffi Raffi Raffie Law Group. They treat
- 33:08Speaker 1: you like family, which is why I decided to partner
- 33:12Speaker 1: with them. Man, it only makes sense. The best law
- 33:15Speaker 1: group in AZ. They've helped over seventy thousand folks in Arizona.
- 33:20Speaker 1: And listen, it's pretty easy. Whatever happens, car accidents, car crashes, injuries, whatever,
- 33:25Speaker 1: they handle it. My wife actually got into an accident,
- 33:29Speaker 1: this was like five or six years ago. They handled
- 33:33Speaker 1: her case, she got paid out. It was super painless,
- 33:36Speaker 1: it was super seamless. The team was incredible. And when
- 33:40Speaker 1: I tell you, man, it's like a real family atmosphere
- 33:43Speaker 1: over there. This is not like just some random billboard lawyer,
- 33:45Speaker 1: some bus stop lawyer. No, it's a real team all right.
- 33:48Speaker 1: So make sure you go support Raffie Law Group and
- 33:51Speaker 1: don't forget you get into an accident, any sort of
- 33:53Speaker 1: personal injury, car crash, whatever, make sure you call RAFFI
- 33:58Speaker 1: right now. Six two three eight eight forty three thirty three.
- 34:02Speaker 1: That's six two three three eight eight four three three
- 34:05Speaker 1: three call RAFFI. You were a part of one of
- 34:08Speaker 1: the most viral reality TV show moments ever with the
- 34:12Speaker 1: man dialon making the band and it ends up becoming Oh.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Dave Chappelle did the whole thing, choking the legend in
- 34:19Speaker 2: the studio and on it. Oh you right, that was
- 34:22Speaker 2: like one of the early viral times. Like viral wasn't
- 34:25Speaker 2: even like you know what I'm saying, Like we used
- 34:27Speaker 2: that word, but that is like one of them.
- 34:29Speaker 1: You can either make the bend or not make the bend, right.
- 34:34Speaker 1: It was like lo KEI. It was almost like if
- 34:37Speaker 1: a Saturday Night Live or Dave Chappelle made funny you,
- 34:39Speaker 1: that would consider you to be viral.
- 34:41Speaker 2: No, nah, yeah, if Chappelle caught you, you know what
- 34:44Speaker 2: I'm saying, you was viral. I said. The hardest thing
- 34:46Speaker 2: about Chappelle is like he's so funny. It's like when
- 34:50Speaker 2: you're doing them skits at the time, you literally gotta
- 34:53Speaker 2: try to stay like you can't laugh. That's why he
- 34:56Speaker 2: was one of the craziest moments, you know what I'm
- 34:57Speaker 2: saying to you. But you know, like the end of
- 35:00Speaker 2: the band, it was definitely a moment. It definitely was
- 35:02Speaker 2: a moment.
- 35:04Speaker 1: No, it definitely was. How often do you revisit the Score?
- 35:09Speaker 1: It's been officially thirty years.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Yeah, this this is gonna be like the thirty year anniversary.
- 35:15Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. I definitely say like every
- 35:17Speaker 2: like couple of like five years, Like I would probably
- 35:21Speaker 2: like throw on the Score and just listen to it.
- 35:24Speaker 2: And when I throw it on more so the music though,
- 35:28Speaker 2: it's more the memories you feel me like it's like
- 35:31Speaker 2: it brings you to an eror like it's just like
- 35:35Speaker 2: the most for me, like mentally one of the most
- 35:38Speaker 2: amazing erarors.
- 35:41Speaker 1: What was for you man? Do you remember like a
- 35:45Speaker 1: session or a point in time where you realize, like
- 35:48Speaker 1: you guys were doing something generational that just the world
- 35:51Speaker 1: hadn't heard yet.
- 35:53Speaker 2: No, because we was coming from a flop, right, So
- 35:56Speaker 2: we was coming from blunted on reality and then so
- 35:59Speaker 2: it was like, yo, if this album, we're gonna almost
- 36:03Speaker 2: like gear it more to mix.
- 36:06Speaker 1: This is this might this might be our last chance.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, definitely our last chance. So we're gonna gear
- 36:11Speaker 2: it more mixtape orientated, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 36:14Speaker 2: we're gonna do it so it's like next level. But
- 36:19Speaker 2: maybe if we're lucky, we might go gold on this one.
- 36:23Speaker 2: The whole focus. Let's go gold. Let's yo, let's try
- 36:26Speaker 2: to sell Like if we could only go gold, we
- 36:28Speaker 2: could go to.
- 36:28Speaker 1: The next flat Yeah, Plaque, Is there a reason outside
- 36:34Speaker 1: of that album just becoming such an insane phenomenon and
- 36:39Speaker 1: you and Lauren going on to just go insane and like,
- 36:42Speaker 1: you know, shout to prose to you know, ghetto Superstar.
- 36:45Speaker 1: He had a solo run himself, but was there what
- 36:48Speaker 1: would what would you say? Is the main reason you
- 36:52Speaker 1: guys never did a third album?
- 36:54Speaker 2: You know, I think I think just young, A lot
- 36:58Speaker 2: of complications were going on. You know what I'm saying
- 37:00Speaker 2: to you, And you know you young at the time,
- 37:02Speaker 2: you know what I mean? And we literally a kid stars.
- 37:08Speaker 2: You feel what I'm saying to you? Like you literally
- 37:10Speaker 2: like yo, it's thirty years later, dog like And I
- 37:15Speaker 2: got a call from Craig Kalman, show you how wild
- 37:19Speaker 2: gess Is and Craig like Craig like, Yo, you know,
- 37:24Speaker 2: I got this chief officer job at Warners and you know,
- 37:26Speaker 2: boom boom, boom boom, and he was like the most
- 37:29Speaker 2: exciting thing he was about was like, yo, cleft, they
- 37:32Speaker 2: let me get my label back, big beat right now.
- 37:36Speaker 2: What's deep about that is before the score of five years,
- 37:40Speaker 2: Craig Kalman was one of the investors who invested in
- 37:45Speaker 2: a hip hop played at Me, Lauren and EMC light did,
- 37:49Speaker 2: which twenty five years later that what you see is Hamilton.
- 37:53Speaker 2: That's what we did twenty five years before that. You
- 37:55Speaker 2: know what I'm saying to you so exactly. So I'm
- 37:58Speaker 2: only saying that like to tell you that for me,
- 38:04Speaker 2: it's sort of like I'm living a movie, right, but
- 38:09Speaker 2: don't sleep on the fact that I'm a cultural bunny
- 38:12Speaker 2: from the gate. So if I'm telling you way before
- 38:15Speaker 2: the score, way before blunting on reality, here I am
- 38:19Speaker 2: why clev Young, Lauren Hill and mc light on the play.
- 38:22Speaker 2: And then I tell you, yo, you ever seen the
- 38:25Speaker 2: Eric b video rock Can't Don't Sweat the technique? I'm like,
- 38:29Speaker 2: that's me on the base. I'm an extra barely eighteen
- 38:33Speaker 2: years old. You know what I'm saying. So for me again,
- 38:35Speaker 2: I would say that my love for the culture allows
- 38:39Speaker 2: me to just be me.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Man. I love that is it? How often? If at all?
- 38:45Speaker 1: Obviously you know, not to get into the specific situation,
- 38:48Speaker 1: but you know, Proz is sitting down right now, she'd
- 38:50Speaker 1: be sitting down for a while. Do you keep in
- 38:52Speaker 1: contact with him at all?
- 38:54Speaker 2: I mean, God will and I haven't spoken to him
- 38:56Speaker 2: in a little bit, but you know, we did the
- 38:58Speaker 2: big tour. Yeah, you know what I'm saying, COVID happened,
- 39:03Speaker 2: and after COVID happened, you know what I mean. So
- 39:05Speaker 2: all I could do is say, within any situation, we
- 39:08Speaker 2: just wish him, pray for him every day, you know,
- 39:11Speaker 2: tell my church group pray for him, and we hope,
- 39:14Speaker 2: you know, he gets out of it.
- 39:17Speaker 1: So I know, you guys have done stuff. Live bet
- 39:20Speaker 1: Awards come to mind. It'd be dope to see why
- 39:23Speaker 1: Clef and YG Marley work together.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, nah, I love them, my nephews. Like
- 39:29Speaker 2: keep in mind, I was on tour with YG. Yeah
- 39:32Speaker 2: that's the crew. Like I was on tour with them,
- 39:35Speaker 2: and this is before the song even rock right, So
- 39:37Speaker 2: so we definitely have that. I'm uncle Clef. Let's just
- 39:42Speaker 2: say that right now. So you got YG Marley, you
- 39:45Speaker 2: got Zion Marley, you got a few of them. That's
- 39:48Speaker 2: that's killing it right now. You know what I'm saying
- 39:50Speaker 2: to you. I look, that ain't even a question when
- 39:54Speaker 2: it comes to YG Marley, Zion Marley, all that. It's
- 39:57Speaker 2: just a matter of time.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Love them.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Let a w what they're doing.
- 40:01Speaker 1: What was if you if there is an artist you
- 40:05Speaker 1: could choose, open up you know, hypotheticals here to executive
- 40:10Speaker 1: produce and produce an album for any artist in the world.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Who would that be right right now? Oh like in
- 40:17Speaker 1: modern day? Right now?
- 40:18Speaker 2: Yeah, right now?
- 40:19Speaker 1: Who who would you if you you know, hey, I'd
- 40:21Speaker 1: love to get it, Like they'd be dope to executive
- 40:23Speaker 1: producer and work on a project with this person.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Like j Cole, one of my favorites, like of all time,
- 40:30Speaker 2: you know what I mean because similar DNA. You know,
- 40:33Speaker 2: he's a producer, you know what I'm saying, And he's everything.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Else, get that, an incredible producer.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Yeah, so I would say, yeah for anybody think I'm
- 40:42Speaker 2: gonna go to the core, you feel what I'm saying,
- 40:44Speaker 2: Like I think that's where the connection would happen because
- 40:47Speaker 2: him as a producer and me as a composer producer,
- 40:50Speaker 2: get in there and start putting all them instruments together,
- 40:53Speaker 2: the vibes, you know, energy. He's one of my favorites.
- 40:58Speaker 1: The fall off February sixth, did did you listen to
- 41:00Speaker 1: the first song that came out? He's kind of like
- 41:03Speaker 1: wrapping his entire life story backwards. Yeah, yeah, it's skin. Yeah,
- 41:08Speaker 1: he's heavy. Yes, talk about the new music, man, Like,
- 41:12Speaker 1: I'm excited. You've had so much stuff happening, right, I'm excited. Yeah,
- 41:18Speaker 1: talk about it man.
- 41:19Speaker 2: So it's been like five years, I'd say, you know
- 41:21Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Like down on COVID, you know, niggas
- 41:24Speaker 2: get depressed, you know.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:27Speaker 2: It was so crazy man, especially I'm a people person,
- 41:30Speaker 2: so and I know a lot of people that people person.
- 41:33Speaker 1: We lost a lot.
- 41:33Speaker 2: But so my next thing was like, Okay, what am
- 41:36Speaker 2: I gonna do now for legacy?
- 41:38Speaker 1: You feel me?
- 41:39Speaker 2: And then I was like versus saying I did this
- 41:43Speaker 2: in this era, I did that in this era. I'm
- 41:45Speaker 2: a go man versus machine, and I'm gonna drop seven
- 41:49Speaker 2: albums that represent the past seven genres that I have
- 41:53Speaker 2: been that I was one of the original venders in
- 41:57Speaker 2: the past thirty years. You know what I'm saying to
- 42:00Speaker 2: you now. So the country album, yeah, wy clups Young
- 42:04Speaker 2: got a country album? May Yo, What the hell cleft
- 42:06Speaker 2: know about country?
- 42:07Speaker 1: You work with Kenny Rogers.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Not only did I work with Kenny Rogers family keV.
- 42:12Speaker 2: The first hip hop country album dub play is me
- 42:16Speaker 2: Kenny Rogers Pharaoh Marsh. That was the first idea that
- 42:21Speaker 2: So that's gonna be crazy, and yeah, we Caribbean people
- 42:24Speaker 2: was raised like on country music, like Devil went down
- 42:27Speaker 2: to Georgia and we know all of that. Johnny Cash
- 42:29Speaker 2: like heavy, y'all know what the reggae album gonna be like,
- 42:32Speaker 2: I don't even need to tell you. It's called One
- 42:34Speaker 2: Night in Kingston. Gonna be crazy. So seven albums. The
- 42:38Speaker 2: first one coming out is Black Moses. That's the hip
- 42:41Speaker 2: hop album, and yeah, it's gonna be crazy. Right now,
- 42:46Speaker 2: I'm waiting on g Herbal's verse, so I think like
- 42:50Speaker 2: the intros like me and g Herbal, I got a
- 42:53Speaker 2: scheme and I did that. I'm working on y'are gonna
- 42:56Speaker 2: love y'are gonna love it. I'm in that zone though,
- 42:58Speaker 2: I'm telling you I'm in the zone. That's all I
- 43:00Speaker 2: can say.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Do you feel because obviously that's by the way, a
- 43:05Speaker 1: white Cliff g Herbo song. I don't even know what
- 43:08Speaker 1: that sounds like. I can't wait to hear that.
- 43:09Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, yeah, it's going. I'm telling you I'm
- 43:12Speaker 2: in this.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Are you Are you on the hit on this hip
- 43:16Speaker 1: hop album? Are you also like working with you know
- 43:19Speaker 1: some ogs?
- 43:22Speaker 2: So the way, the reason why I call it Black
- 43:25Speaker 2: Black Moses inspired by Isaac Hayes. Then it's back to
- 43:28Speaker 2: the water. You feel what I'm saying to you. So
- 43:31Speaker 2: it's like I'm literally just crafting some of the MC's
- 43:36Speaker 2: that fit the film.
- 43:37Speaker 1: That I'm doing.
- 43:38Speaker 2: You know, like I see Joey Badass, I feel what
- 43:41Speaker 2: I'm saying to you. I see like I see like
- 43:43Speaker 2: rap City. You see what I'm saying to you, people
- 43:46Speaker 2: like that. I see people like Ride Wave. You know
- 43:51Speaker 2: what I'm saying, like just like energy type of stuff
- 43:54Speaker 2: like that. You know what I mean and believe it
- 43:56Speaker 2: or not. Like if I was to hear a get
- 44:00Speaker 2: that like a super throwback, I can't hear like l
- 44:03Speaker 2: L you know what I'm saying, but modern you know
- 44:05Speaker 2: what I'm saying, because l L still go crazy.
- 44:09Speaker 1: Yo. That last L album from like two years ago,
- 44:13Speaker 1: very good album.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Super dope album, Super super Dope.
- 44:17Speaker 1: The intro of that album is him rapping from the
- 44:20Speaker 1: perspective of James Is it James donor Chris donor the
- 44:26Speaker 1: cop that kind of like went on that spree and
- 44:29Speaker 1: was on the running California. It's fucking wild. Shout out
- 44:31Speaker 1: to L.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Black Most is going to be crazy. The
- 44:35Speaker 2: R and B album gonna be nuts too. And and
- 44:39Speaker 2: y'all know you ever heard of a You ever heard
- 44:42Speaker 2: of a form of music called compa k O m
- 44:46Speaker 2: p a all right, so this you ever heard of
- 44:50Speaker 2: a dude named Joey dweat Fielick. So that style kompa
- 44:56Speaker 2: is originally from hat So now it's a genre, like
- 45:00Speaker 2: so it became like a whole new dance movement genre.
- 45:03Speaker 2: So and it's for my country. And on the album
- 45:05Speaker 2: I think you like the eclectic, I have one called
- 45:08Speaker 2: MVP compound again genre bendon. So so when we said
- 45:13Speaker 2: like welcome to Haiti, check that one out too, because
- 45:15Speaker 2: I think like you're gonna really dig that one, gonna
- 45:17Speaker 2: have a lot. I know a lot of kids are
- 45:19Speaker 2: gonna sample a lot of new sounds from that record,
- 45:21Speaker 2: so it's gonna be crazy too.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you've all. I mean, I feel like even like
- 45:27Speaker 1: if you think back, like you had to sell your
- 45:29Speaker 1: cruise on the Carnival, like America was really hip to
- 45:33Speaker 1: what was going on with like the Spanish music shit.
- 45:35Speaker 2: You know, come on, sell your cruise Tago cal doron
- 45:40Speaker 2: Evy Queen like all of that. What people be forgetting
- 45:43Speaker 2: is like that's the America's Like you got Haiti sent
- 45:45Speaker 2: to the Mingo, Puerto Rico, Cuba, all of that. Like
- 45:48Speaker 2: we're part of the Americas. You know what I'm saying to.
- 45:50Speaker 1: You, Yes, you are a reggae head, heavy heavy reggae
- 45:59Speaker 1: had I want to how much of your reggae album
- 46:04Speaker 1: is finished? Or is it right now? Is it an idea?
- 46:06Speaker 2: Is it non family? Everything that I told you is
- 46:10Speaker 2: eighty percent done. The only thing that I'm doing right
- 46:14Speaker 2: now is just the features. You feel me and you
- 46:17Speaker 2: know I'm a reggae head, so you know the features
- 46:20Speaker 2: can't be normal, right so, and then you know I'm
- 46:24Speaker 2: a dub plate specialist. Anyboy wan clash dead see So
- 46:28Speaker 2: as a dub plate specialist. There's a way that I
- 46:32Speaker 2: want to present because can you imagine every year, man,
- 46:36Speaker 2: people go, Cliff, what the fuck? Bro? Like you've been
- 46:40Speaker 2: singing reggae since you've been fifteen, give us a one
- 46:43Speaker 2: drop album? Can you believe like this is going to
- 46:45Speaker 2: be like my first reggae full album? And why dog?
- 46:50Speaker 2: I respect that culture so much musically that I felt
- 46:56Speaker 2: like I couldn't do it yet because you got to
- 46:58Speaker 2: understand as a student of Bob Marley, Jimmy, Cliff, it's
- 47:03Speaker 2: the name a few ten us all like. It's like
- 47:08Speaker 2: I wasn't trying to deliver a song. I was trying
- 47:10Speaker 2: to deliver an energy. So I hooked up with my boys,
- 47:13Speaker 2: the Compound, Yo, the band, remember this the Compound. So
- 47:16Speaker 2: I went to Jamaica with my man Panic.
- 47:18Speaker 1: We get this.
- 47:19Speaker 2: I want you to visualize this. So we're all in
- 47:21Speaker 2: this tiny little room. It looks like Bob Marley Redemption
- 47:25Speaker 2: song vibe yo and Yo, you already know, smoke on
- 47:29Speaker 2: the air and seeing you already know, and then the
- 47:32Speaker 2: vibe start and this is the whole album. One night
- 47:35Speaker 2: in Kingston. It's gonna be crazy.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Mm hmmm. We're good. We had a little pause the internet.
- 47:53Speaker 1: We're back. But anyway, you're telling me you're in a
- 47:56Speaker 1: small room. It's like Bob Marley Redemption songs.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, but think about it. The room is
- 48:01Speaker 2: only supposed to fit seven people, but it's a hundred
- 48:05Speaker 2: people in there, you know what I mean? Yeah?
- 48:09Speaker 1: Were you like you guys flawlessly? You know my favorite
- 48:14Speaker 1: Bob Marley song. I mean it's one of them. But
- 48:17Speaker 1: you guys, we're able to do No Woman, No Cry
- 48:21Speaker 1: on the score? Yeah, I mean that's a very intimidating
- 48:26Speaker 1: song to conquer and like to like make your own
- 48:30Speaker 1: and pay respect to that had to be pretty cool.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean you hit it again, right, So
- 48:37Speaker 2: you said the word pay respect right. So it's like,
- 48:39Speaker 2: at the end of the day, we didn't I didn't
- 48:42Speaker 2: just do the song. I reached out to Steve, Stephen
- 48:44Speaker 2: Marley right, of course, the Marley family, cause the approval
- 48:48Speaker 2: that I wanted was like when Rohan when they all
- 48:52Speaker 2: heard the song and it was like you sure you
- 48:57Speaker 2: not one of our brothers, right?
- 49:03Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Yeah? Man, are you are?
- 49:07Speaker 1: Is it a bunch of uh? I don't know if
- 49:09Speaker 1: you've gotten to the futures part yet. But I'm assuming
- 49:11Speaker 1: you got some some reggae legends on that album.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Man, I got I had to, you know, I got
- 49:16Speaker 2: some reggae legends, but I got some upcoming legends too, right,
- 49:20Speaker 2: because I feel like with me, I always bring y'all
- 49:25Speaker 2: a pulse where either they gonna get it now or
- 49:28Speaker 2: they're gonna get it later. You know what I'm saying
- 49:30Speaker 2: to you. So some of the stars that me and
- 49:33Speaker 2: my man Panic of course shout out to d the
- 49:35Speaker 2: whole John Shop crew. What is being put together? I
- 49:40Speaker 2: feel like it hasn't been done man like honestly, because
- 49:45Speaker 2: what I was telling people is everyone goes for the feature,
- 49:51Speaker 2: a post for creating the body of work. So what
- 49:54Speaker 2: I want you to know is these seven projects, the
- 49:57Speaker 2: feature is the last thing cause I needed to paint
- 50:00Speaker 2: the entire picture. And now that we got the picture,
- 50:04Speaker 2: when we like, we rode training days, you know what
- 50:06Speaker 2: I'm saying. So we're like, Yo, we need Denn Washington.
- 50:09Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. You feel me, Yo, we
- 50:12Speaker 2: rode boys in the hood. We need boom boom, boom boom.
- 50:14Speaker 1: You feel me. That's where we're going. Yeah, do we
- 50:31Speaker 1: have a way to like an adapter to plug that in.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Okay, yeah we can hear you know, yo, you get
- 50:38Speaker 2: me hold on, let me see what's going on. Can
- 50:44Speaker 2: you hear me back? Yeah, we're back, baby, right here,
- 50:46Speaker 2: now you're yeah.
- 50:48Speaker 1: I was gonna and also not at being about the
- 50:51Speaker 1: feature you.
- 50:56Speaker 2: I'm losing Kevin.
- 50:58Speaker 1: At Ortiz and like, these are these artists that are
- 51:02Speaker 1: technically new artists that you were able to kind of
- 51:04Speaker 1: like just like, yo, it's a it's a hits, a hit,
- 51:08Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 51:09Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's been my thing, right, so I ain't
- 51:11Speaker 2: changing my formula, you feel me, because I don't think
- 51:15Speaker 2: nothing is bigger than the song. So at the end
- 51:17Speaker 2: of the day, the material has to be amazing. And
- 51:21Speaker 2: if you get this amazing material and now you get
- 51:24Speaker 2: the right features, now you got supernatural in your hand.
- 51:29Speaker 2: You got that Carlo Santano supernatural vibe, you know what
- 51:31Speaker 2: I mean.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Hey, we gotta wrap up this interview another one presented
- 51:34Speaker 1: by Hardan Baby you already know what it is. Shout
- 51:38Speaker 1: out to Hardeen for presenting another episode of the book
- 51:40Speaker 1: like that podcast. Don't forget when you're in Vegas, you're
- 51:43Speaker 1: getting that tax youre getting that uber say, take me
- 51:44Speaker 1: to Harden, the number one cannabis dispensary in the world,
- 51:48Speaker 1: premium selection of the craziest gas you could ever ask for,
- 51:52Speaker 1: and then they break down all what all the turps mean?
- 51:54Speaker 1: It's incredible. Go to Harden, Underscore Las Vegas, shoot them
- 51:57Speaker 1: a follow and when you're in Las Vegas, and make
- 51:59Speaker 1: sure you shoot them a visit before you go. Uh,
- 52:03Speaker 1: when are we going to be getting the first of
- 52:05Speaker 1: these seven albums?
- 52:07Speaker 2: So it starts in March, So Black Moses is the
- 52:10Speaker 2: end of March. So yo. I'm sitting here with you
- 52:14Speaker 2: do and I don't know why. I had epiphany when
- 52:17Speaker 2: we was talking about the the reggae thing, and then
- 52:20Speaker 2: the movie shot Us came to my head, you know what,
- 52:25Speaker 2: you know what, so that it just came to my head.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Listen, listen. I'm so glad you brought that up because
- 52:31Speaker 1: that was one of the things I wanted to ask
- 52:32Speaker 1: you about, because you're in Shatas and.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Heavy and shot Us. I played Richief's.
- 52:38Speaker 1: And from what I understand, your actual real life bodyguard
- 52:43Speaker 1: is also in Shatas.
- 52:45Speaker 2: Yeah beasts, Yeah, and he really about it, Like what
- 52:48Speaker 2: you see is what you get.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:50Speaker 2: Yeah, so he's not even like he's like my brother,
- 52:53Speaker 2: like real brother.
- 52:55Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you crazy.
- 53:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm back.
- 53:08Speaker 1: I see you. I don't know if you see me.
- 53:10Speaker 1: Oh you're back? All right? Right, So I want to
- 53:12Speaker 1: I do want to talk about Shots. This is my
- 53:17Speaker 1: name is Bootleg keV for a reasoning pirated DVDs of Shots.
- 53:23Speaker 1: It is a classic. How do you end up in
- 53:26Speaker 1: that movie? It is one of the greatest independent gangster
- 53:29Speaker 1: movies of all time?
- 53:32Speaker 2: Just family, you know what I'm saying.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Just family, greatest Jamaican gangster movie of all time. But like, yeah,
- 53:38Speaker 1: explain the backstory on how you end up in this?
- 53:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean ses Severa, who's a genius. I still
- 53:44Speaker 2: say that till today. You know, he came up with
- 53:46Speaker 2: the idea with the script and and what I love
- 53:50Speaker 2: about his genius on and it's all like family, you
- 53:54Speaker 2: know what I'm saying to you. So it wasn't like
- 53:58Speaker 2: what makes the movie dope is like you see like
- 54:01Speaker 2: Kirby Enthusiasm where it's improv right, So it's a very
- 54:06Speaker 2: loose script. That's what made this shit genius, you know
- 54:10Speaker 2: what I'm saying. And I don't know better actors than
- 54:13Speaker 2: Caribbean people, to be honest with you, Yeah, everybody's Denzel.
- 54:20Speaker 2: So it was cool. So now I'm going in the
- 54:23Speaker 2: car and then the director would be like, y'all, maaia
- 54:26Speaker 2: kill leboy upon the car. But before you kill Labo,
- 54:29Speaker 2: I mewani here a joke. So set the boy up,
- 54:32Speaker 2: you know, don't let him know you're gonna kill him,
- 54:35Speaker 2: you know. So then my brain I go in my
- 54:38Speaker 2: Samuel Jackson pulp fiction, witty type shit. You know what
- 54:41Speaker 2: I'm saying. You know, it was white man, a black man,
- 54:44Speaker 2: and the Chinese man, right, you know what I'm saying,
- 54:46Speaker 2: So he can't see the kill coming. But I think
- 54:49Speaker 2: the power of Shot Us was that it was just
- 54:51Speaker 2: all real, like Officer Lang, it's all real, like what
- 54:54Speaker 2: you see is what you.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Get, you know what. Yeah, it's crazy too because it
- 54:59Speaker 1: was kind of like I think we had gotten introduced
- 55:01Speaker 1: a little bit to that in Belly, like Bellie kind
- 55:06Speaker 1: of had like a little bit, you know of like
- 55:08Speaker 1: that Jamaican flavor in it. But Shot was the most
- 55:12Speaker 1: like raw shit, and it was it's probably all time
- 55:16Speaker 1: five bootlegs movie.
- 55:18Speaker 2: Yeah, no, one hundred percent everywhere. Yeah, you know, what
- 55:21Speaker 2: you need to check out. I was I had saw
- 55:25Speaker 2: Meek Mills the other day shout out to moves in
- 55:27Speaker 2: Miami Brooklyn chop House, and he came up to me
- 55:30Speaker 2: and you know what movie he told me seeing and
- 55:32Speaker 2: you I'm gonna put you up on it. It's a
- 55:34Speaker 2: documentary I did. It's called The Ghosts of Seat. They
- 55:36Speaker 2: solet to understand how the Gangs of Haiti really move.
- 55:41Speaker 2: Watch that movie, The Ghosts of Seat. They sole like
- 55:44Speaker 2: everybody that's you know that'd be watching Narcos all of that,
- 55:48Speaker 2: Because I want you to get cut. What happened is
- 55:50Speaker 2: you be getting like a back perspective of what the
- 55:53Speaker 2: news is. You know what I'm saying, Even if you
- 55:55Speaker 2: look at it on YouTube, it's hard to read it.
- 55:57Speaker 2: I want you to understand like the root of like
- 56:01Speaker 2: where our gang culture started. It's so important, you know
- 56:04Speaker 2: what I mean, Because it's more political than street if
- 56:07Speaker 2: that makes sense.
- 56:09Speaker 1: So in terms of like your political aspirations, I mean,
- 56:13Speaker 1: I'm sure just going through that whole process had to
- 56:17Speaker 1: be draining. I mean probably taught you a lot. Yeah,
- 56:19Speaker 1: would you say that your political aspirations are over with?
- 56:22Speaker 2: Well, I'm not disappointed. I learned a lot, you know
- 56:24Speaker 2: what I mean? I see you know, if I would
- 56:26Speaker 2: have read any book on police side, I wouldn't have
- 56:29Speaker 2: even gotten like what I've gotten, you know what I'm saying.
- 56:32Speaker 2: So first of all, I ain't a politician. That's why
- 56:36Speaker 2: I ran because I feel like as we move towards
- 56:38Speaker 2: the future, the you know mankind, do you in specie,
- 56:43Speaker 2: they have less trust in politicians. But per my experience,
- 56:48Speaker 2: I was like, for my country, I'm better off being
- 56:51Speaker 2: a private sector guy.
- 56:52Speaker 1: You know.
- 56:53Speaker 2: I want to bring investment to my country. I want
- 56:55Speaker 2: to build a technology school. I'm looking at the amazing
- 57:00Speaker 2: beach resorts that we have. We have Punta Kana on
- 57:03Speaker 2: the other side, so why can't I, you know what
- 57:05Speaker 2: I'm saying, purchase something on our side and do that
- 57:09Speaker 2: and start big investment. Because if y'all know why klev
- 57:12Speaker 2: got an island, you're all coming. So at the end
- 57:15Speaker 2: of the day, in order to do that, we need
- 57:17Speaker 2: to enforce the anti corruption law and we need good
- 57:20Speaker 2: governance in the country. So at the end of the day,
- 57:23Speaker 2: I want to play part of that side to help
- 57:26Speaker 2: us get back to where we need to get to.
- 57:29Speaker 1: New album in March, the first of seven.
- 57:31Speaker 2: First of seven, Baby Black Moses is the first. Y'all
- 57:35Speaker 2: gonna love it.
- 57:36Speaker 1: The one thing I don't want to not just bring
- 57:39Speaker 1: up real quick before you leave. You also have like
- 57:43Speaker 1: one of the biggest world worldwide songs ever with Shakira. Man, dude,
- 57:49Speaker 1: that's like one of them fucking ones. Buddy, that's that's
- 57:52Speaker 1: like a forever First of all, you got like fifteen
- 57:54Speaker 1: forever songs.
- 57:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know I got I say like, I
- 57:57Speaker 2: got fifteen happy birthday songs exactly.
- 58:00Speaker 1: That's what I mean. You know what that mean.
- 58:02Speaker 2: I can play a ball mix for every month and
- 58:03Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Yeah, but shout out, shout out.
- 58:11Speaker 2: To Shakira, shout out to the Goat, Shocky, shout.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Out to you.
- 58:15Speaker 2: Brother.
- 58:15Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to hearing the new album. And I hope, man,
- 58:18Speaker 1: I hope you go on tour soon.
- 58:20Speaker 3: Man.
- 58:20Speaker 1: I know you're doing these live shows at the Blue
- 58:22Speaker 1: Note in LA this weekend, but I think if you
- 58:24Speaker 1: did a tour.
- 58:25Speaker 2: Definitely we look forward to the toy and then you know,
- 58:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna see you in a minute.
- 58:29Speaker 1: You know. Boutleg keV.
- 58:31Speaker 2: You know, let me know if you're going to bootleg
- 58:34Speaker 2: Black Moses before I put it out.
- 58:35Speaker 1: Man, I'm not no, I'm over my bootleg days, but
- 58:39Speaker 1: I need to listen again. I gotta thank you as
- 58:42Speaker 1: a kid. I'm recording this at my best friend Ramses' house.
- 58:47Speaker 1: Shout out to your best friend. So listen. He's the
- 58:50Speaker 1: one who used to buy the Punt Registry. Be like,
- 58:53Speaker 1: I don't think you understand why Cleff has a million
- 58:55Speaker 1: dollar cars. I'm about it for real, has more money
- 59:00Speaker 1: than any rapper. This is like the big remember, like
- 59:04Speaker 1: the big timers and baby of course.
- 59:06Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, but I was I was just I was
- 59:09Speaker 2: an investor in blue chip cars. That's different than he knew.
- 59:13Speaker 2: Your friend knew what Tommy was. He knew what the investments.
- 59:16Speaker 1: Were before I let you go. If it's not blue
- 59:19Speaker 1: chip cars in twenty twenty six, what are you invested
- 59:22Speaker 1: in it?
- 59:22Speaker 2: Still?
- 59:23Speaker 1: Are you still?
- 59:23Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, yeah, no, definitely it's good that you said that.
- 59:25Speaker 2: So first thing is, I'm a chief Officer of Culture
- 59:29Speaker 2: for us DC, which is stable coin. And look into
- 59:34Speaker 2: that because you got one point two billion people, Yeah
- 59:37Speaker 2: you got one point you look into you as DC.
- 59:39Speaker 2: You know, coming from Haiti or parts of the world,
- 59:42Speaker 2: you know how it is moving money around and trying
- 59:44Speaker 2: to get money to different places.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Buddy, I have I always park some cat because obviously I'll,
- 59:49Speaker 1: like you know, I'll do some leveraging on the crypto side,
- 59:51Speaker 1: but you have to kind of run it through USDC
- 59:54Speaker 1: depending on you know what you're using. Wallet, you're using all.
- 59:57Speaker 2: Right, So yeah, so so now if you go, you'll
- 59:59Speaker 2: see like I'm a chief officer. So and again for
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: me taking that position about culture and how we educate
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: people into doing that, I'm very excited. As far as investments.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: The first like big franchise I want to do now
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: moving forward is the y Clefs your Carnival, inspired by
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: what they did with Margaritaville or hard Rock Cafe.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: It's an immerse.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: It's going to be immersed performance and culinary experience. So
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: the first one is going to be in Brooklyn. So
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: right now, I think like we're two years away from it.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: I've been talking about this for years, but I think
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: we're getting there. We play chess, so we moved slow,
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: but we're gonna land.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: That's going to be a hit man. I'll look forward
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: to eating at the carnival. You already know, family, I
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: got you y cleft. Appreciate you for pulling up and
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: making this happen. Brother, Thank you, respect king'
