- 0:31You are in the treehouse. Time to leave your rories outside and join us
- 0:40in the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley along with Trey Trenholme. And because he
- 0:45just can't get enough of us, or we just can't get enough of him,
- 0:48I'm not sure which, but let's not fight it. Actor, comedian,
- 0:54and most importantly friend raj Arma, Hey, raj Hey, Well it's
- 0:59a it's just can be now, I can't. I don't know if the
- 1:00union will let me say after oh yeah, yeah, yeah, the yeah.
- 1:04The whole SAG thing makes things a little hairy as far as what you
- 1:07can and cannot do. I know that I saw over the weekend with the
- 1:12Writers Guild and the Screen Actors Guild both being on strike at the same time,
- 1:19I saw that SAG had said, Okay, here's here's a list of
- 1:25things that actors you know, cannot do, and there was some describe and
- 1:29see in there about you know, can you do certain things like podcasting,
- 1:33and really that basically came out. It was where I saw it was there
- 1:37was an article from Variety that listed all these things that the SAG actors cannot
- 1:42do, and it included podcasting, which was kind of nice. To be
- 1:46included. You're like, hey, we made it to the big time.
- 1:49You do know what I thought was interesting on that Variety list though it's nowhere
- 1:53on there did it say that that they couldn't do radio appearances. So that's
- 2:00how much radio gets disrespected in the industry. It's like, now, do
- 2:04all the radio you want. We don't. We don't give a damn about
- 2:06that. But podcasting, no, no, no, no, you shouldn't
- 2:08be doing that. But I think it's your You can't do your own podcast
- 2:13that's monetized, right like you can like I can be on this show,
- 2:17I just can't have mine. See, therein lies a couple of the discrepancies
- 2:23because Variety said, Okay, here's all these things actors can't do, and
- 2:25the obvious stuff was there, like you can't shoot a movie, you can't
- 2:28shoot a TV show, you can't do a public appearance type stuff, and
- 2:32when it mentioned podcastings. But then Sean Gunn, who is James Gunn's brother.
- 2:39James Gunn's the director of the Gardens of the Galaxy movies, their most
- 2:44recent suit Squad, and he's also the new co head of DC and he's
- 2:50doing the new Superman movie Anyway, his brother Sean, who's done a lot
- 2:53all the movies with him, over the weekend was like, this story's misleading.
- 2:59It's not that you can't do these things. You just can't promote any
- 3:04projects that we're striking on basically. So it's like you can you can do
- 3:08a podcast just to do a podcast, but you can't promote anything for it.
- 3:14Okay, so they revise that list. Yeah, so like you could
- 3:16have someone who's who's in the Oppenheimer movie? Matt Is Matt Damon in it?
- 3:23Yeah, Matt Damon's in it, all right, so you could have
- 3:24Matt damon On. You just can't ask him about Oppenheimer. He's not going
- 3:29to promote Oppenheimer. But right, you know, or if you wanted to
- 3:32have if you wanted to have the Rock on your show. He couldn't necessarily
- 3:36promote any of his movies. Well, it might be a little harrier because
- 3:39he is also an executive producer. As an actor, he wouldn't be able
- 3:43to promote a film like Fast in the Furious, but he could promote his
- 3:47tequila. But he can promote TV shows that are currently wrapped or movies that
- 3:55are rapped. I don't think they're supposed to do any promotion. Maybe we
- 4:00should ask somebody. Yeah, but even then, see, even even some
- 4:04of the people are confused. As far as our our buddy, dear friend
- 4:11h tone Bell is on a new uh Netflix show called Survival of the Thickest
- 4:16and it's great. Um, I've been watching it, uh and it's fantastic.
- 4:21And he's but he's like, just because we're on strite doesn't mean you
- 4:26can't watch TV. So I think he promoted it that way, like,
- 4:30hey, just it's over, you can watch stuff that we're on. We
- 4:33just can't. I guess it can't um actively go out and pitch a show.
- 4:43That's I think, because I think they're going into a season two.
- 4:46So that's what I thought. That's what I kind of gleaned from it,
- 4:47is he can't you can talk about pass projects that you've already done. I
- 4:53just don't think you can go, Hey, I'm in the upcoming Fast and
- 4:56Furious fifty one. U So rocks revenge, the Rocks revenge. Um.
- 5:04Yeah, And then and that's what every tequila hangover who should be called it
- 5:08is just the Rocks revenge. That's actually what Taramana stands for. The Rocks
- 5:12Revenge. Uh, and so that's that's that's it is. It is kind
- 5:15of a confusing thing. So you saw the initial story, what what actors
- 5:18can and can't do. The obvious stuff is it's like, okay, well,
- 5:21if you're at the middle of our project, boom you bounced because I
- 5:24saw I think, um a number of actors bounced in the middle of things
- 5:28that they were doing. Like Carl Urban, who has been in tons of
- 5:31things. I think he was I'm not sure what he was currently shooting,
- 5:35but he's one of the main one of the main guys in The Boys.
- 5:40He plays Butcher and the Boys, And I saw a thing of him getting
- 5:43on a plane and like joining my brothers and sisters and done shooting, goes
- 5:48round strike. Um. I heard there were a couple of people promoting a
- 5:53movie like at a at a premiere. It might have been for Oppenheimer,
- 5:57like it was Blunt, Matt Damon and Gillian Murphy, and right in the
- 6:00middle of it, they got word that sag was on strike. So they
- 6:03all they all left their promotional stuff like we're in the middle of it.
- 6:08They're like, no, we're done. They were, Yeah, they were
- 6:10at the London premiere, like on the red carpet call came in and they
- 6:13all just got in their cars and left and then just smoke and they were
- 6:16out. Um. Meanwhile, then you had the Sean Gunn come out and
- 6:21say, Okay, we can we can do these things, but we just
- 6:26can't. We can do some things, but we just can't promote certain things.
- 6:30And then I saw another thing. I think it was a Yesterday and
- 6:33this made sense. It goes to what you were saying, Raj about what
- 6:35tone Bell had said it because he has this new episode or this new show
- 6:40on Netflix, so he's not allowed to promote it as a card carrying SAG
- 6:46member. But someone else had posted similarly, don't boycott things in support of
- 6:55the actors and the workers trying to you know, you know, get what's
- 6:59fair. Um, instead keep watching these things. So the numbers still show
- 7:05how important it is to have actual creators as opposed to artificial intelligence or whatever
- 7:11and all this stuff. So it's it's kind of confusing. It's like it
- 7:14depends on which side you fall on. It's like, well, do you
- 7:15do you you know, want to support the actors by boycotting or Something's like
- 7:19no, keep watching their stuff. They're just not going to promote things that
- 7:25put that line the pockets of the people you know that are oppressing them.
- 7:30Yes, and apparently my uh my um Netflix suggestions are are well received,
- 7:34so um such as but just one person, I believe it's uh, your
- 7:41your step mom. Oh that's right, So Trey, you do you do?
- 7:46You have you met my stepmom Carol? She and my dad came to
- 7:50town years and years ago, and of course I took them to the Loon
- 7:54to eat dinner once. Yeah, and I met her, like I've met
- 7:58her one or two times yet. So just want the Loon had food.
- 8:01Oh, the Loon had an amazing food. It wasn't really known for its
- 8:07food, by the way, Yeah it was, well, it was the
- 8:09drink. The drinks are what got you in the door, and then the
- 8:13food is what kept you coming back for more. No, it was still
- 8:18the strong drinks. It just happened to be that the food was also really
- 8:20damn good. Okay, So anyway, so Trey, I don't think I've
- 8:24told you this, but I told Raj very recently. Uh My stepmom Carol
- 8:28is a massive fan of the podcast. She loves it, and uh on
- 8:35the on a previous episode with Raj where we talked about the American Gladiators documentary,
- 8:41Yes, which I've watched since So it was my stepmom. She sent
- 8:45me a text. He's like, She's like, oh my god, I
- 8:48love that. I love that American Gladiators documentary. Tell Raj thinks for the
- 8:52recommendation. So I would like to recommend you a survival of the Thickest.
- 8:58It's a great it's great, a great show in our buddy Tone is on
- 9:01it. I still need to watch uh Drink Masters where Tone is the host.
- 9:05Yes, Yes, that's it's really nice too. So the sag stuff
- 9:11going on, it's striking and and and I'm glad that you were able to
- 9:13still do The Rock, Raje. I'm still glad you were able to still
- 9:18do the show. Um, I'm I'll for you know, if they're if
- 9:22they're replacing, you know, if if the Rock is on strike, I'll
- 9:24cross the line. I'll cross all of it. I'll take all of his
- 9:28movies, I'll take all of his I'll take all of his Tikia mind,
- 9:31whatever you need me to do. It's not so much scatchy as it is
- 9:37is more like a proxy. Yeah, it's the Rock the raj. We'll
- 9:41figure it out. Well, yeah, do what he was going to make?
- 9:46Oh kidding, isn't this the wildest time in the world that we're living
- 9:52And he's the highest paid actor in Hollywood. I've been making that up.
- 9:56He is the most. I will say his acting has gotten much better over
- 10:00the twenty plus years he's been doing it. Yeah, I you know what,
- 10:03it's it's my new back to the future. Anytime Central Intelligence is on
- 10:09with him and Kevin Hart, I have to watch it. It's so good.
- 10:11I have seen it. I will admit I watched it and I liked
- 10:15it. It was good, and maybe it was something special about seeing the
- 10:18Rock and George I don't know. Just the sheer size of him next to
- 10:24Kevin is hilarious to me. I'm still surprised that they were not picked to
- 10:28do and maybe they did. At one point they were talked about doing a
- 10:31Twins reboot with the two of them. They did, Yeah, they did.
- 10:33I think I think they The Rock has to executive produce everything now,
- 10:39Oh yeah, I think they couldn't get the rights to do it where he
- 10:43could be I think he would just be the actor, just be an actor
- 10:46in it, and oh, I see, that's what the hiccup was.
- 10:50So I understand. I guess some people give him flak for that. I
- 10:52don't know why. To me, it's the same thing in the music industry.
- 10:56It's like who was it um uh in in on the rap side of
- 11:01things in the industry, where they were like own your master's own your master's
- 11:05own your masters, and that's something that's a huge thing in the music industry.
- 11:07But as far as owning your owning your own music, because what happens
- 11:13is these recording labels will sign an artist and they're going to own what you
- 11:18produce, and that's sort of the standard initial thing. It's a massive thing.
- 11:22It's a huge undertaking for an artist to acquire the rights to their own
- 11:28stuff. And so to me, in movies, it's a similar thing.
- 11:33If you find yourself in a position to have your own production company and executive
- 11:37produce your own projects, putting yourself in it, then you're double dipping,
- 11:45which is what you should do. You should be on the controlling side and
- 11:48your creative side if you want to end if you're able. Yeah, I
- 11:52think a lot of people don't realize. Before she passed away a Finnish shakorp
- 11:58got Tupac masters because Suge Knight owned them. So when and here's the craziest
- 12:05part about that is Tupac didn't even know that he didn't own his own stuff.
- 12:09So she found out after he passed that money stopped a minute he passed,
- 12:18the money stopped coming to his estate. It all started going to Sugu
- 12:22Night, uh, And that's when they found out he didn't own. So
- 12:24when you saw, you know, sug standing behind Tupaca, like when in
- 12:30Tupac's got all one hundred dollar bills and look like that. The car was
- 12:33in Sugar's name, the house was in Sugar's name, everything was in Sugu
- 12:37Knight's name. And Tupac didn't even know. Yeah, because he is funneling
- 12:39money to him. He was like, here's yeah, done that to doctor
- 12:43Dre too. I believe he had all his masters too. But you know
- 12:48the funny thing about that. Do you remember when Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney
- 12:52did Dandy. You know the story, so I don't think so, all
- 12:58right, Michael Jackson is young at the time and he is talking to Paul
- 13:01McCartney about you know, obviously Paul McCartney's one of the few people who could
- 13:07ever understand the fame that Michael Jackson experience, and so Paul McCartney gave him
- 13:11advice. He's like, you know, one of the great investments you can
- 13:15make is is by the masters you know of of artists, and you own
- 13:18the rights to those songs for forever. Do whatever you want with him.
- 13:22So they got done, and Michael Jackson goes and buys the Beatles cat Beatles
- 13:26Catalog. Paul McCartney never spoke to him again. Yeah, So that he
- 13:31was. He was. They were talking about publishing rights, like exactly what
- 13:35Trey said, and he's like, there's uh an auction coming up where the
- 13:39Beatles catalog and Paul's like, I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna buy him. He's
- 13:46like, oh, okay, sounds good. Any outbid Paul McCartney. That
- 13:52is that is that is one hell of a flex to be able to have
- 13:58not only the money, but ironically enough with Michael Jackson, the balls to
- 14:05to say I'm gonna take this information you've given me and I'm not only going
- 14:09to run with it, I'm going to lap you with it, and I'm
- 14:13gonna buy your stuff and every time you sing, you pay me. And
- 14:20that also makes me wonder what the other four Jacksons are like how much is
- 14:24he worth? The other guys are like, how are we not? How
- 14:28did we not get any of this? And that's how you end up having
- 14:31a fantasy land on your property at your house? Yeah, who is a
- 14:35who is the first? They said Eddie Murphy the first time he went and
- 14:41uh, he sitting in the living room and apparently a couple of giraffe walked
- 14:46by. He didn't know that there was like like there was like a wildlife
- 14:52preserve. Was that his inspiration for writing coming to America? I don't know,
- 14:56because that's that's that's one of like the opening scene in the film is
- 15:01when it's James Earl Jones and Eddie Murphy walking through the yard of their you
- 15:05know, their their kingdom or whatever that makes sense now and the elephant walks
- 15:09by and Eddie Murphy just casually goes a little bub b. Yeah that makes
- 15:15sense. But he was just he does this great interview about it. What
- 15:18he's just sitting in the living room waiting for like Michael doesn't open the door,
- 15:22right, so you because people bring him in the monkey Butler does of
- 15:26course Bubbles Bubbles Bubbles. No, actually, you know, it wouldn't be
- 15:31Bubbles because Bubbles was like, what's Michael Jackson's personal monkey friend? So I
- 15:35guess Bubbles. I guess he'd have a separate monkey. Butler like like Bubbles
- 15:41uncle or something like Bubbles is down on his luck uncle recovering or something,
- 15:46he needed a job. It's it's it's Germaine's Monkey. Yeah, and he's
- 15:54sitting in there. It's like, you know, you have like I don't.
- 15:58I don't know why I felt the comple to tell him, like,
- 16:00you know, there there was a couple of drafts just walk by and he's
- 16:03like, yeah, I know, like that was like it was just a
- 16:07Tuesday. It's like, I'm just you know, you have draft money,
- 16:11Like, yeah, I'm aware it starts with two drafts and then and then
- 16:14it's gonna be the you know, the two apes, and then eventually it's
- 16:17gonna be you know, you know, two you know, cassowaries or ostriches.
- 16:21And basically Michael Jackson had enough money to not just buy the arc,
- 16:25but all the animals in it. It's MJ's arc. Yeah, So I
- 16:33mean it's one thing. It's one thing to have. Uh. It's one
- 16:37thing to be able to say, oh, I'm so rich, I've got
- 16:40you money. It's another thing to say I've got God money. Yeah,
- 16:47yeah, that's uh. Yeah. I want, I want, I want
- 16:51monkey Butler money. That's I just want. I'm buying. I'm buying my
- 16:53lottery tickets. You don't want to buy two. You just want one.
- 16:56I just don't want one monkey Butler. That's it. And I just want
- 17:02you to get so used to it that when he doesn't open the door,
- 17:04you're like, what the monkey butler is? There's this day all like,
- 17:08what's I just kind of figured he lived here. I like your thinking.
- 17:14I like I like the idea of not being so greedy that you need,
- 17:18you know, an entire zoo in your home. You just want the one
- 17:19monkey butler. I think for me, though, I don't. I don't
- 17:23want to be so bougie as to where I demand or hire a monkey butler
- 17:27for the house. But I feel like I would be bougie enough to,
- 17:30you know, to have the few money to where I have a really cool
- 17:34yacht, but I have a monkey captain. You're listening to the Treehouse.
- 17:45Visit us online that Treehouse on air dot com. I mean, just imagine
- 17:51the outfit. It's so much better. It's so much better than a butler's
- 17:53outfit. You got the little hat. I mean, come on, it
- 17:57would have changed Gilligan's Island. Let's get Rodney Anderson into the Treehouse nine seven
- 18:07two fifty two hundred. That's his phone number for him and his team that
- 18:11you are going to need. The website with lots of great infa all the
- 18:15time, as well as Rodney Anderson dot Com. Now, Rodney, I
- 18:18know that there are lots of people out there looking for homes, but inventory
- 18:22hasn't really been, you know, equaling the demand out there. So what
- 18:26are you seeing in the housing market right now? Do people have a chance
- 18:29at houses that are out there looking Yes, houses are starting to come on
- 18:33the market. We're seeing buyers getting some deals on some of these houses.
- 18:36Now, it depends on the house. If it's a dollhouse and it comes
- 18:38on the market and it's priced right, you can see multiple offers and you
- 18:41can be competing. But some houses are sitting there for thirty forty five,
- 18:45sixty ninety days or even more, and those buyers are striking some good deals.
- 18:49The first step is getting pre approved up front. The one thing you
- 18:53don't want to do is go find your dream home and then get pre approved
- 18:56afterwards, knowing that your payments are you find out your payments are too high,
- 19:02you find out that you can't afford that whole thing, and then you
- 19:04set yourself up for a failure when you got to go look at lower price
- 19:07homes. So I always tell people get pre approved up front. It's free,
- 19:11it's easy, and we just get everything done so quickly. We can
- 19:17have you pre approved in a couple hours. Out shopping for a home.
- 19:21Yeah, it's a lot more fun to shop for a house when you know
- 19:23that you can afford it and you know that you're ready to actually buy it.
- 19:29So give Rodney to this team of call. They'll get you ready for
- 19:30that housing market nine seven to fifty two hundred nine seven two nine eight five

- 20:29friends at Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration again for that free roof inspection eight three
- 20:33three Cook DFW. I'll admit it rode. As soon as you mentioned monkey
- 20:37butler, I started thinking about different occupations for the monkeys and what I would
- 20:42what I would want, and I was like, oh as soon as I
- 20:45got as soon as I got the picture in my head of the monkey wearing
- 20:48the captain's hat and at the helm of the load, I was like,
- 20:55oh, yeah, yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna stick this in there like
- 20:57I wanted to, Like, I want that for you, right, and
- 21:00I want it to be so so normal that he's at the helm of the
- 21:07yacht, but we don't that. Nobody even as we walk by, We're
- 21:11just like Glenn and just keep walking like that. Nobody's calling. You would
- 21:15name the assuming that you would name the monkey Glen, but it was like
- 21:21Glenn, how are and just keep walking and yeah, no, that makes
- 21:23it. It's it's sort of like it's sort of like giving a dog,
- 21:26like a like a human name, like like you call your dog Bob,
- 21:30or in this case, you call the monkey, you know, Glenn,
- 21:32but you gotta keep him. I got a better one. I'm gonna call
- 21:34him, gonna call the monkey, uh Captain Ron. So that way when
- 21:40I go past, when I when I go through and see him at the
- 21:45helm, I can, I can, I can salute him and say Captain
- 21:48Ron. He salutes him back. It's the greatest. And that's how you
- 21:52know somebody's new to the yacht because when they're like, hey, do you
- 21:55know there's a monkey, like, uh, yeah, that's Ron. Yeah,
- 21:59what are you talk about? That would be that would be the ship's
- 22:03orientation for any guests. Like let's say that even though they're five billion dollars
- 22:07in debt, iHeart. Let's say on a Wild Hair wants to rent a
- 22:11yacht for the week to go to France and promote a dumb podcast. I'd
- 22:14be more than happy to rent them my yacht that they can take, But
- 22:18I'm not going to give them the heads up about the monkey captain. I'm
- 22:22just simply going to refer to the captain in the paperwork as his respected title
- 22:26and name, which would be Captain Ron. So that way, when Bob
- 22:32Pittman or Rich Brestler, the CEO and CEOO of iHeart, walk onto the
- 22:36bridge, all they see is Captain Ron and they're obviously expecting a human because,
- 22:41let's base it, they're full of stereotypes. Instead, instead they get
- 22:45they get a chimpanzee wearing a captain's hat and no pants, and he's standing
- 22:49there at the helm waiting, like waiting for the salute, because we're not
- 22:52going anywhere until you recognize the rank. Well, at least they build identify.
- 23:00I guess you know monkeys see an iceberg and just get a big smile
- 23:03on his face. You're used to this, aren't you. Yeah? Absolutely
- 23:10yeah. If there's something I heart, executives are used to its heading straight
- 23:12for icebergs this is the best episode of Life Below Deck ever. How awesome
- 23:21would that be? Because, first of all, I've never seen that show.
- 23:23I hate that show, but I've never seen it. I have no
- 23:26interest in it whatsoever. But if they were to do a surprise switchero and
- 23:32all the all the Life below Deck cast members were replaced with monkeys, I
- 23:36would watch that. Just imagine the unsuspecting guests, like, what happened to
- 23:41the what happened to the hot crew? Where's everybody? I'm here to meet
- 23:47Ron? Meanwhile, it's it's the chimpanzee in the corner is blowing up inflatables,
- 23:52getting the scooby and the snorkel gear ready, Captain Ron, keeping everybody
- 23:57in shape? U I would? I would? Yeah? I want,
- 24:04I want now, I'm gonna buy. I'm gonna buy a lottery ticket for
- 24:07you. And I think tonight's just nine hundred million dollars? Is that what
- 24:11it's up to the powerball Jesus? Yeah, so I need to play that.
- 24:15Yeah, and we usually all play. If one of us wins,
- 24:18we have to we have to employ the monkeys. If one of us wins,
- 24:26the nine million dollars will do a quick pact right now, if one
- 24:27of us wins the nine hundred million dollars, we then uh fund the other
- 24:33two people on the show right now, So that way everyone's comfy and you
- 24:40know, whoever wins still gets the most money, obviously, but at least
- 24:42at least the other two are comfy to where then we can just do whatever
- 24:45the hell we want. And if we want to do a podcast where the
- 24:48hell of it we can, or if we don't want to, we don't
- 24:52have to. But if we want to do it, you know from our
- 24:53new yacht with with the Monkey Crew, we could we could totally, we
- 24:57could totally do that too, And I just want to if I could throw
- 25:00in, like every week on the podcast, Captain Ron has to be a
- 25:03guest, even though he doesn't say anything, doesn't have to just him what
- 25:18does he do? You'll see that's what he Hey, you know, you
- 25:22got a really good punchline. If all of a sudden, Captain Ron starts
- 25:25laughing, yeah, it's a great Sphie starts talking, Oh oh god,
- 25:30I just imagine your punchline is so good that Captain Ron starts belly laughing like
- 25:37crazy. But then he's so uncontrollable. He starts throwing his own shit around
- 25:41the room. That's a good episode. That's when the music starts playing.
- 25:48That's when that's the hard out and end of show and clean up crew which
- 26:00we will not give charged. Can I quickly plug my August fourth and fifth
- 26:08shows? Oh yeah, absolutely, I saw I saw you post that,
- 26:11uh just the other day on Instagram, that you've got a whole tour that
- 26:15you're getting started up. Yes, it's very cool. The whole of viral
- 26:18thing is really kind of cool. So going virals is it's before getting paid.
- 26:26Yeah, it's like people are sending me free stuff, which is kind
- 26:30of cool. Um, uh, socks, I got socks coming. I
- 26:34have a candy company that's sending me a whole gift. I'm like, you
- 26:38haven't seen my act, Like I don't know what you're basing this swag off
- 26:42of, but thank you. Um and then yeah, so I got starting
- 26:48August fourth and fifth at the Dallas Comedy Club. Tickets are already like,
- 26:53tickets are already selling. Like there's a singles group that's make that's making it
- 26:59a vent out of it. Uh, so get your tickets now before because
- 27:03there's fifteen hundred people in this singles group. Nice, So you're doing stand
- 27:08up slash matchmaking now, uh, you know the Indian of me that wants
- 27:12to arrange the matter just you just can't help it. I can't help.
- 27:19But I want I want everybody to to be married to and to watch my
- 27:25stand up. But yeah, we got uh August uh in in in Texas,
- 27:29August fourth and fifth, Innlyst, the sixteenth in Houston, the twentieth
- 27:32in San Antonio. And then I posted this thing. I'm like, hey,
- 27:34does you know tell me what cities to come to because my agent was
- 27:37like, ask your Instagram followers like where they want to see a performer.
- 27:41We'll just do this whole September October fall tour. And the response is cool,
- 27:45man. I got a couple of people from like, uh Barcelona like
- 27:49okay, that's weird. That's weird, but okay. And then somebody's like,
- 27:55hey, how about um Brazil. I'm like, I don't know if
- 28:00my I don't know if there's Indian people in Brazil. I don't know how
- 28:03it works. I don't know if we're in novelty, but I will come
- 28:08and then yeah, and then offers started coming in I just looked at the
- 28:15I just looked to my phone when we just went to a little break and
- 28:18some some more offers coming in for and it's really cool. It's based off
- 28:22on Instagram, and uh, it's weird. I'm not gonna lie. I'm
- 28:26enjoying it. You should. I'm enjoying it. It's just super like,
- 28:30hey, can we send you candy? And I'm like, yeah, do
- 28:32you think I'm gonna eat it? No? I remember years ago I was
- 28:37working with Brian Reagan and he uh as church groups that come out because he's
- 28:41one hundred percent clean comic and he's brilliant. Yes, all these church groups
- 28:47come in and they bring in these sweet old ladies will bring in like pupcakes
- 28:51and cookies and you Karen all the stuff, and I just remember being I
- 28:56was only there's the last time he did the improv. He went to theaters
- 28:59after this. But we I walk in to the back and he's standing there.
- 29:04I mean it's every part, every every table, every side table is
- 29:10covered in some sort of baked good and I grab a cookie and I remember
- 29:15going to eat it and he slaps the sh out of my hand like the
- 29:19cookie goes fly and I'm like, oh my bad, h that's for you
- 29:23clearly, and he's like, no, you can eat it. Do you
- 29:29know who made it? I was like no, He's like exactly, so
- 29:33I don't know what happened to him in the past. But he had to
- 29:37look on his face like go for it at your own risk. And I
- 29:40go, well, what do you do with all this stuff? He goes,
- 29:41I'll show you, and he went into the kitchen and he grabbed the
- 29:45industrial brash can and just kind of shoveled it all into the trash. I
- 29:52was like, oh my god. Really, He's like, no, I
- 29:55have no idea who. It's very sweet that they do that. I don't
- 29:59know who's made it. That was actually something we had to contend with quite
- 30:02a bit doing doing the radio show, because people would bring us stuff all
- 30:06the time, and that included food. They brought food a lot, which
- 30:10was very very It was sweet. It was there a few times where a
- 30:14food delivery did happen, but we didn't typically eat it because we didn't know
- 30:19who actually brought it. We may not have known the person who made it
- 30:22or brought it, so we trusted food that came from people we trusted.
- 30:27We trusted sealed the bottles of liquor, you know, because as long as
- 30:33as long as that seals not broken, we'll trust that. Um. But
- 30:37like homemade foods, we wouldn't we wouldn't typically touch because we were we didn't
- 30:41know who, we didn't know what people put it in there. They may
- 30:42think that they may think it's hysterical to put some acid in these cookies or
- 30:45something worse, just to hear what their favorite show would sound like, you
- 30:49know, you know, dripping on acid during drive time. There's so much
- 30:53about those years you don't remember, but that I do. And I remember
- 30:57there was tacos in the breakroom at the time, and you would typically go
- 31:02get like coffee or whatever it was. So I would every time I'd walk
- 31:07in, I usually Cat would catch you, like on the way into the
- 31:10studio like that's what we'd kind of meat in the hallway. You know,
- 31:14you kind of were chuckling and you're like, there's tacos in there if you
- 31:15want them. And I was like, oh, okay, and it's late
- 31:18and you know, starting out comic and I'm like, you know what,
- 31:21I can go for free food. I just remember also was going, uh,
- 31:26don't do that to him, and I was like what And he's like,
- 31:30man, we don't know who made him, but they're there if you
- 31:30want him. I'm like, you left him in the breakroom, like you
- 31:33literally went, somebody will eat it. It just kept walking at me.
- 31:37It's true, someone would eat it. We really weren't. Weren't true who
- 31:41would Who was gonna eat it? It was probably gonna be a you know,
- 31:42starving board op. But and it's not like it's not like I was
- 31:48rolling in dough at that time, but I I had just enough money.
- 31:52Uh, And I was just like I'm not gonna eat that. Yeah,
- 31:56I just but you will. But you did offer, which was hilarious.
- 32:00You're like, we're not going to eat it, Let's see what happens when
- 32:04you do. And that's why you don't trust people with the food they go
- 32:08offer you. A valuable lessons learned. I thought we were just sharing,
- 32:15like, oh, this is the nicest radio show ever. They're like,
- 32:17hey, have dinner with us, like late like late night supper with us.
- 32:22You're just going, let's see if he eats. That's exactly what it
- 32:24was. I think I even had it on my notes, like what will
- 32:28rage eat the break room taco Let's see if if you start tripping balls a
- 32:31second segment, We're just gonna go live, so fast forward like like ten,
- 32:37twelve, fifteen years. We're at iHeart Radio and the break room there's
- 32:44uh some mystery tacos and burritos, and and that's exactly what they were.
- 32:55We didn't know where they were from, right and then, and we told
- 32:59the story on the are a handful of times and he absolutely hates it.
- 33:00And I don't blame him because his name has been forever tainted. So Jay
- 33:04Shannon at the time, who was a new program director at iHeartRadio, had
- 33:08just taken over the Edge and he goes into the breakroom one time, and
- 33:20Alfie and the other guy or their their cubicles were right there next to the
- 33:23breakroom, and they witnessed Jay Shannon come around the corner, go into the
- 33:28breakroom and he sees these these random burritos and tacos. There's no marking on
- 33:36the rappers or anything. But he's curious enough and apparently hungry enough that he
- 33:44grabs one of those random burritos and he takes it back to his office and
- 33:49he eats it. What he thought was in peace. But in reality,
- 33:53to this day, he is still known as Jay Shannon the random burrito Eater,
- 34:00because we told that story on the air that day, and at some
- 34:06point, someone I don't know who really wouldn't be had taken a photo of
- 34:09him and random burrito and photos shopped him and put him together and slapped all
- 34:14these flyers up around the iHeart Studio offices as Jay Shannon random Burrito scarfing down
- 34:20a random burrito. And and and that's how most listeners still know who Jay
- 34:25Shannon is, because he's the random burrito eater. That's wild. I've not
- 34:31ever been I think that hungry. I'm like, I don't know where it's
- 34:36from, but I'm gonna I'm gonna chance at burrito. There was there was
- 34:40there was one person that there was one person that I actually trusted to bring
- 34:45food. Um. And this is when I was working at the Fan with
- 34:50Sean Salisbury in the afternoons. We had to do lots of live remotes,
- 34:54not as many as some of the sports stations do, but because they'll why
- 35:00the hell they ever make the musers do a McDonald's remote on like a Wednesday
- 35:07morning. I heard this once they were doing a remote at McDonald's some random
- 35:10McDonald's, and I think in the mid Cities, their entire show live and
- 35:16McDonald's. You're talking about one of the one of the most successful shows in
- 35:21the country and there and they're loving them out to Mickey D's breakfast. Anyway,
- 35:27John Salisbury and I were at Rangers game for a live broadcast and the
- 35:30Rangers. If you ever watched Rangers games on TV, there was the Cookie
- 35:35Lady. The Cookie Lady was this very sweet lady. She made cookies almost
- 35:38every game and she would bring them to the broadcast team. So like Tom,
- 35:43Tom Grieve and whoever else was in the broadcast booth, they always got
- 35:45cookies delivered from the Cookie Lady, and I felt very much in the club.
- 35:52The first time Salisbury and I are out and they're like a little remote
- 35:55truck outside the stadium and she walks by and she hands us cookies. I
- 36:00was like, I feel like I've I feel like I've kind of reached a
- 36:04new pinnacle of my career. I've now been offered a cookie from the Cookie
- 36:07Lady. Her I trusted, and I ate her cookies because that's a sweet
- 36:10old lady. May she rest in peace. I hope had nothing to do
- 36:14with the cookies. But her cookies I trusted, and I'm still here that
- 36:19forbid she was poisoning her own cookies. I don't know what. I assume
- 36:25natural causes. Okay, well, I mean or there was another or there
- 36:30was there was a cookie burrow that wouldn't too elbow was way into the market.
- 36:32I don't know. But the saddest thing about the whole thing with the
- 36:37radio station is, you know, people will leave food in the break room
- 36:42and it would be you know, like vultures and like Dan said, but
- 36:45because it didn't have a label on it, everyone you know, raised an
- 36:49eyebrow. But you know, some guy could have you know, crapped in
- 36:53a tortilla, wrapped it and foil and then gone and stolen a Chipotle bag
- 36:57and put it on the air, and everyone been like, oh, hell
- 36:59yeah, Chipotle, you throw a little rice in there. And you may
- 37:05not know the difference visually. If you visually may not know the difference,
- 37:13I would know. I say that as a massive Chipotle fan. I've never
- 37:17had it, so I I uh, I would I would, I would
- 37:22be safe, I would not venture into the I'll take your rage. I'll
- 37:30take you so that way you're not intimidated or overwhelmed by the experience. I'll
- 37:34pass. It's just there's it's like subway, but with for Mexican food.
- 37:37Like I don't understand, Like I don't understand that this is why, this
- 37:40is why you need to go, so so you can understand it. So
- 37:43if you want to make fun of it in the future, you at least
- 37:45have you know, that's the thing. I never I never make fun of
- 37:47it. I've just I've never had it just doesn't look like so you don't
- 37:52like Taco Bell. No, No, I mean I grew up on Tacoo.
- 37:55Okay, but rage may look into two people and he may be Indian
- 38:00to a certain extent, but he's an American from Mesquite. The man's the
- 38:04man's the man. The man knows Taco Bell. If you, uh,
- 38:07if you told im, I can, I can almost guarantee this. If
- 38:12you said to Indian people like tomorrow, uh, note just for one day,
- 38:16no Indians in the US eat Taco Bell. They'd close. That's that's
- 38:22the only thing. Like when my dad was vegetarian, so like that was
- 38:24like that was his like when when that opened, uh in Mesquite, when
- 38:30there was a Taco Bell that opened, it was like but God had answered
- 38:35his prayers. Uh. Like he that was ever like his his thing was
- 38:40u to to toast out his and a bean burrito. And that guy was
- 38:45like literally like in heaven. Uh. And he still felt like it was
- 38:50God answering his prayers. After he ate it hundred percent, he's like this
- 38:53is so good because his own we'd go to McDonald's as a kid, all
- 38:58he could have was fries. Oh yeah, that's it. And then not
- 39:01even then McDonald started doing this so for vegetarian, like I promise you it
- 39:08was for Indians. They are the only ones that can say they're I think
- 39:12one of the only ones that can say that there are French fries are gluten
- 39:14free because there's no cross contamination because they have dedicated friars for just they don't
- 39:20they don't mix the nuggets in with the fries. And when my dad found
- 39:23out, like, oh my, you can have the fries, it's not
- 39:25mixed in with the meat. It was I remember like going to McDonald's get
- 39:30fries and going to Taco Bell to get a burrito, and like that man
- 39:34was in fast food heaven. It probably led to his claturable bypass, but
- 39:38still was that was that still got answering prayers or when he came through,
- 39:45it's like, see, prayers have been answered. Let's go to Taco Bell.
- 39:47I'm like, I don't know if you're supposed to do that again.
- 39:50I don't know if that's so. So here's here's what we're gonna do.
- 39:52Because because I'm still in town, like way haven't gone back to Saint Thomas
- 39:55yep. So while I'm here, I've already had way too much Chipotle because
- 40:00I can get it quickly and healthy for the most part. But I'm gonna
- 40:05use that as a tease going into our final segment today because I want to
- 40:08take you to Chipotle because along with Chipotle, there's been some other things that
- 40:13I have missed that I've been taking advantage of of of being back in back
- 40:19home in Dallas. Okay, So I'm I'm gonna take you, raj I
- 40:23do you can take Do I have to eat it? You know, you
- 40:28don't have to do. You don't have to. You can actually just sit
- 40:30there and you can just watch me eat slowly while they make contact. You
- 40:37are listening to the Treehouse. So I'm gonna line that treehouse on air dot
- 40:42com. Time now to welcome into the treehouse. Daniel Cook from Cook DFW
- 40:52Roofing and Restoration the phone number eight three three Cook DFW, the website Cook
- 40:57dfw dot com. You know, one of the most important services you offer,
- 41:00Daniel, is a free roof inspection. It's amazing, one of the
- 41:04most important services you offer you actually give away for free. But that's because
- 41:08with all the storms coming and going as a homeowner, you don't really know
- 41:12what shape your roof is in. No, Dan, you're right, and
- 41:15we get on some roofs and people are shocked to find out the pictures that
- 41:19we bring back down and show them. You know, did you know you
- 41:22had this, or did you see that the part of your chimney was coming
- 41:24off, or did you know that you had a boot that had, you
- 41:28know, blown off of one of your pipe jacks, and so all of
- 41:30these things are critical to the integrity of the roof, and people do not
- 41:34take the chances to go up on their own roof hopefully, and we need
- 41:39and we don't want you to. So that's why you need us to come
- 41:42out. We're gonna walk that roof. We're gonna get up there. We're
- 41:44gonna give you some pictures, We're gonna give you a report and show you
- 41:47exactly what you need to have done on your roof to protect your home because
- 41:51you do not want to have a leak in the middle of the night or
- 41:53the next rain storm that comes through. And figure out why I wish I
- 41:58had checked that roof before something like this had happened, because I'm telling you,
- 42:00these water damages are big. Use that phone number to get ahold of
- 42:04COOKEDFW Roofing and restoration and schedule that free roof inspection for yourself right now.
- 42:08Eight three three cook DFW eight three three cook DFW or cookedfw dot com is
- 42:15online a treehouse fire dot com. And now let's get Jacqueline from Brooks Plumbing
- 42:22into the treehouse. The phone number two one four three six eight thirty eight
- 42:25thirty eight the website Rooks Plumbing Texas dot com. So, Jacqueline, one
- 42:30of the things that we hate in the treehouse is gimmicks, whatever it is
- 42:35that contractors try to use to sucker people. And that's not something you do
- 42:38at Brooks Plumbing. Yeah, definitely not. And honestly, I'm a homeowner
- 42:43and I am balling on a budget. You know, life is expensive right
- 42:47now, and so I believe that being an educated consumer is one of the
- 42:51best things you can do for yourself. And what I always tell my friends
- 42:53in my family is that at a certain point, you are just paying for
- 42:58a brand name, not necessarily a higher quality product. So let me give
- 43:02you an example. I'll have people call me all the time and they'll say,
- 43:07I just called XYZ Plumbing and asked for a quote to get a fifty
- 43:10gallon water heater installed, and they said they had to come out and look
- 43:14at it to give me a quote. That's true, but it's not true.
- 43:19You know, if you have a fifty gallon gas water heater, I
- 43:22can pretty much tell you exactly to the penny what it's going to cost for
- 43:25me to furnish and install a new one for you, barring any unseen obstacles
- 43:30like maybe you have a really old house and you have an asbestos vent and
- 43:35we need to take that out and put you in a new one. But
- 43:37most plumbing companies should and are able to flat rate price stuff for you.
- 43:42Now here's the catch that goes with that. Sometimes as consumers we get really
- 43:45tied up because we're familiar with a brand name. Like, if you think
- 43:49about a water heater, you can probably name one brand off the top of
- 43:52your head. But sometimes things happen and your contractor is going to say,
- 43:57yeah, it's a brand that's been around a really long time, but I'm
- 43:59suggesting you go with ABC. So, for example, my favorite brand of
- 44:02water heater is actually called Bradford White, which most people haven't heard of.
- 44:06And I know there's plumbers that listen to this podcast that don't don't work for
- 44:09me because they've they've talked to come and talk to me about it. Shout
- 44:13out to my friends at Riddelle Plumbing. But if I want to put it
- 44:16in my house, and I want to put it in my rental houses,
- 44:19and I trust it to operate properly and not flood my house or explode,
- 44:23then I'm not going to put something bad in your house. So if we
- 44:28are trying to steer you away for a specific from a specific brand, and
- 44:30I'm delicately dancing around a name, because there's one very well known brand water
- 44:35heater that since about twenty twenty, has had a lot of recalls on it
- 44:39and they haven't advertised it not the way that they should, and a lot
- 44:44of plumbers have stopped putting those in. You might ask for it, and
- 44:46we'll just outright saying no, because we know we'll be back within a year
- 44:50and we know exactly what problem you're going to have. So if somebody's not
- 44:54willing to quote you up front, at least a ballpark, they want to
- 44:58come to your house. They want to upsell you something, and they've got
- 45:01to see what they can upsell you. The other thing is is that if
- 45:05your license contractor says, please, don't make me put this in your house,
- 45:08here's why they're telling you. For a reason. They don't want to
- 45:12come back and have a problem at your house. They want you to get
- 45:15the good quality thing the first time and not experience any problems. So I
- 45:20know that this was a dramatica a dramatica advertisement for me today. But don't
- 45:24let people trick you by telling you they can't quote you. Some things you
- 45:28can't. But a garbage disposal is a garbage disposal. Your is not magical.
- 45:30It's either a half horse power or three quarters horse power. You don't
- 45:35have like an eighty horse power garbage disposal. We can quote it for you.
- 45:37Don't let people give you the runaround. Exactly that, don't let people
- 45:40give you the run around. You want to contract or in your home,
- 45:43a company that you can trust. I love being able to ask the contractor

- 46:45want to I want to take you to Chipotle, but I'm not gonna make
- 46:49you eat. Okay, but being it's weird, so so living on St.
- 46:54Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. Living really anywhere where you've moved away
- 46:59from home, and you know I lived in Dallas, I should be more
- 47:02accurate, I lived in Dallas Fort Worth because I really did live all around
- 47:07DFW at various points in my life, Dallas County, Tarrant County, Collin
- 47:10County, all of it. Um. I mean, I mean I lived
- 47:15there for like thirty years, over thirty years, and so moving away was
- 47:22an interesting set of circumstance. It was an interesting set of circumstance challenges all
- 47:28those things. Excuse me, I'm burpingum, But when you moved to an
- 47:32island, you then have to reor not readjust you have to adjust to that
- 47:37lifestyle because you're on an island. Literally you can't get everything that you're used
- 47:43to getting back in the States, whether it's groceries or you know, anything,
- 47:52Like I can't just I can't just go to the grocery store and automatically
- 47:55get the exact thing I'm looking for because I may go to the grocery store
- 47:59and it may not come in come in on the boat that day, I
- 48:01may not be able to find. Yeah, on an island, when when
- 48:07you go to the grocery store. You're not going to the store. You're
- 48:10going to the grocery stores because you have to hit two or three different places
- 48:15sometimes to find everything on your list, because one place may be out of
- 48:21it, the next place may have it, and that place may not have
- 48:24the thing that the other place has. So now it's kind of like a
- 48:27half a day thing. So coming back to coming back to DFW for you
- 48:31know, a month has been really good in some ways, but also bad
- 48:38because when you move away, there's things. Okay, there's things I miss,
- 48:42there's things I don't miss. One of the things I that I immediately
- 48:45did not miss is all the highways. It's all like like there's there's there's
- 48:52nothing scenic about North Texas. Like hill Country has hill country. It's kind
- 48:57of nice, right, I mean it's hill country. It's got hills.
- 49:00Um uh, you know, the Texas coast has water. I mean Texas
- 49:04has some really pretty vistas, right well, North Texas is basically a void
- 49:07of vistas, with the exception of like the Cedar Hill area. Everything's just
- 49:10kind of flat and everything's concrete. So I don't I don't miss that,
- 49:15um but I do miss I do miss having all the food at my fingertips,
- 49:21like because there's no Chipolt laying on on Saint Thomas. There's there's a
- 49:24couple of Windy's, there's a couple of McDonald's, but they don't have all
- 49:28the same things that those places have here in North Texas. Yeah. I
- 49:31can't tell you how many times I've I've I've I've gone try to go through
- 49:35like the Windy's drive through and and just try to get a grilled chicken sandwich
- 49:38because the grilled chicken sandwich and Windis is actually pretty good. Um, but
- 49:42they never have it. It's basically burger, no burger, they don't.
- 49:45And then and they don't have the chili there either. Oh and I've never
- 49:50had the Windy's chili. But it's a big seller. It's good. That
- 50:00should be the slogan, but you have to say it with the shrug,
- 50:05you know, it's like it's good. One of the surprising things. It's
- 50:07actually pretty solid. Yeah, you wouldn't typically think that that a selling point
- 50:13for any restaurant would be fast food chili. But but they have the because
- 50:16the nuggets are solid. They've they've got those. Yep. They just don't
- 50:22have a grilled chicken sandwich not on the island, so they have one in
- 50:24Texas. You can get ones and like I said, it's pretty good,
- 50:27but they don't have it in the island. Um. Other things. It's
- 50:30like, I actually made a list because the other day I was I was
- 50:31sitting around, was kind of bored. I was like, Okay, these
- 50:34are things I miss about being in Texas and there are some things I don't
- 50:38miss. Um. One of the I mentioned grocery stores when we when we
- 50:45first got here and we the closest grocery store just happened to be a Whole
- 50:50Foods. And it really didn't matter if it was an Albertson's, a Whole
- 50:52Foods and HB would have been awesome. Any grocery store here is amazing because
- 51:00it's big, and it had everything I wanted and it was clean and bright.
- 51:06Yeah, and it had everything I wanted in one store. So when
- 51:09we went to the grocery store, we grabbed a cart and we're like,
- 51:12look at all this stuff. It's like we've we've it's been almost a year
- 51:15since we've been able to go to one grocery store and absolutely get everything on
- 51:20our list in one place. And you're doing and you guys are clearly doing
- 51:24well because you have Whole Foods money. So that's that's good. That's good.
- 51:29That's well. Here's the other thing that here's the other thing that I
- 51:34well, no, that's the other thing I miss about about Texas living and
- 51:37State side living is things are cheaper here, even when you think they're not,
- 51:43because things on an island are more expensive. So like, if I
- 51:45want to get like a like a big tall thing of egg whites on the
- 51:51island, that will cost me ten or eleven dollars wow, for just egg
- 51:55whites. Meanwhile at Whole Foods five bucks. Wow. Okay, Now some
- 52:01things are the same price. Like I can get a dozen eggs for basically
- 52:06the same price on the island as I can in Texas. So it's weird
- 52:08how different things will be priced higher and the same. There's no I know
- 52:15why there's no grilled chicken salwich. Well, actually, you think it'd be
- 52:19easy to do a grilled chicken sandwich and Trace smiling because he knows what I'm
- 52:22gonna say here is because on the island there are chickens everywhere. You can
- 52:24just grab a chicken, throw it on the grill. Honestly, of all
- 52:29the things poultry, anything poultry related, I would not think would be a
- 52:31shortage on the island because you drive around there, chickens everywhere. E much
- 52:37just gotten lazy and didn't want to go kill the chicken or and that's what
- 52:42it is right there. That's a thing called island time, which is like,
- 52:45yeah, there's a chicken out there, but I don't feel like going
- 52:47to get it and making it for you. So the grocery stores, I
- 52:51missed, grocery prices. I've missed. I've missed the internet. We have
- 52:55internet there, it's just it's just not as fast. I was so excited
- 53:00the first night that we were in our airbnb with the internet. You know
- 53:02what I sent Trey Raje I sent him a cinema screen cap of the of
- 53:07the speed test. I ran. I was like, look at this,
- 53:12We're gonna do some serious podcasting. There's gonna be no lag whatsoever. That's
- 53:16the most Indian thing I think you've ever done. I'd have to agree that's
- 53:22I saved this list to go over it with you, Raj as opposed to
- 53:24as opposed to going over it with Heather McKinney from from sinisterhood because I knew
- 53:29you'd appreciate my speed test more. I also missed all the food, like
- 53:37being able to really get any damn piece of food, any restaurant or whatever
- 53:39I wanted, because at same times, it's very limited and a lot of
- 53:44the stuff we have on St. Thomas is limited because it's a lot of
- 53:46it is tourist stuff. Okay, what is tourist food? Well, I
- 53:52mean it's some of it's going to be like high end restaurants and things like
- 53:55if you just live in a place and half the restaurants are fine dining,
- 54:00like, well, that really limits my options. It's hilariously, you're like
- 54:05Steak or Wendy's. That's have you been on that ship? Sometimes Rogers,
- 54:12because that's pretty accurate. You guys want lobster or chili, or there's that
- 54:20chicken that's right there crossing a row. You can have that. You can
- 54:23just take it. Take that all you want. You should just take the
- 54:28chicken through the drive through and be like, I'll be back in fifteen minutes
- 54:30exactly. But one of the things I do not miss, and there's a
- 54:36few things I don't miss, like I don't miss how like like I said,
- 54:38I don't miss all the concrete. I don't miss the traffic. I
- 54:42don't miss how everything is flat. I don't I don't miss not being able
- 54:45to look out my window and see the ocean every day. That is a
- 54:49calming thing for me. That's one of the reasons why I wanted to live
- 54:52there. Um. I also don't miss all the people because in my life
- 54:58I have learned that if if there are people around and there's something good around,
- 55:04the people will ruin that good thing. I have seen people ruin radio
- 55:07stations. I have seen people ruin everything from entire radio stations to entire planets.
- 55:15Um. It is, it is. It has absolutely proven that in
- 55:17our history we humans ruin everything we get our hands on. Um. Yeah,
- 55:22I think we uh. I think as a society, we should have
- 55:25known the end was near when Golden Corral happened. And not just happened Rage,
- 55:35but when Golden Corral yah went to my hometown of Bartlesville, Oklahoma,
- 55:40where before they moved my dad and stepmom lived forever. The level of excitement
- 55:46in Bartlesville, Oklahoma when Golden Corral came to town. Rage. I'm not
- 55:52I'm not making this up. It was the place to be on Friday and
- 55:57Saturday nights. Their parking lot was packed for date night. Hey, that
- 56:01was a treat. You know in Leonard you got to go to bottom and
- 56:04go to the Golden Corral. That was that was a big night. See.
- 56:08Now this is again, this is really. This is really how you
- 56:10can tell that Trey really is is part of the duality of man because having
- 56:15lived part of his life in Highland Park and other parts and Leonard, he
- 56:20really has that duality down because he can appreciate the Golden Corral, but also
- 56:24knowing he probably went to his fifth birthday at the old Warsaw. Yeah,
- 56:29I'm just wondering. I'm wondering if you were wandering around Alberne's looking for the
- 56:32chocolate fountain and and and albern A just standing there's like, we don't have
- 56:38that ear, but I find get him a chocolate phone and yeah, I
- 56:45know for my fifth birthday, I distinctly remember because I got two champ chimpanzees.
- 56:52Lu Luindina or at my fifth birthday party? Do they meet belt?
- 56:57Oh, that's just a horrible thing to think about. It's just Golden Crawl
- 57:01just reminds me of another one of our friends, Asher Alan, when they
- 57:05help, Uh they had they had veterans on Veterans Day, veterans eat free.
- 57:09In this joke was like, haven't they've been through enough? That's still
- 57:16that's still a winner. Uh yeah, so okay, so uh all the
- 57:22food, all the groceries, you don't miss the people, even though you
- 57:27are surrounded by tourists constantly, not constantly. So where we live on the
- 57:31island as North. It's on the north side of Saint Thomas. So we
- 57:35don't get that many tourists on the north side because cabs don't want to take
- 57:37them on that side of the island because it's more residential and there's also a
- 57:42lot more hills and the cabbies don't really like driving up steep hills very often.
- 57:46Um oh, gotcha, Okay, but yeah, Rush, don't don't
- 57:51think Dan is amongst the people. He's on a hill. Oh he's got
- 57:55that. That's why he was the first hills tray. The first place was
- 58:01The first place was Whole Foods, like oh, saying it was the closest
- 58:08grocery store. That's why we went. Sure it wasn't some sort of a
- 58:12weird flex I got to said, hopefully, hopefully this is on my vision
- 58:15board. I'm trying to I'm trying to manifest that kind of money. Uh
- 58:22So, interestingly, one of the things I actually wrote down on my list
- 58:25of things that I miss and don't miss at the same time, Amazon,
- 58:31so we can get Amazon. We can get some things from Amazon delivered in
- 58:36the island. That's where you have to enter your address. Like let's say
- 58:39there's a webcam I want, I have to scroll through the different options to
- 58:44see if I can find the one that I want and a seller that will
- 58:46ship it to the islands, because sometimes you may find something you want and
- 58:50then it stops at you know, Miami. Um oh wow. Okay,
- 58:54So when we knew we were coming here, were like if we started making
- 58:58a list of things we wanted to buy on Amazon to have delivered so then
- 59:01we could throw it in a suitcase and take it back right. Problem is,
- 59:06it turns out Amazon's been hiring a bunch of new drivers who apparently just
- 59:08don't give give a damn about their job or where they leave packages. Because
- 59:14if you haven't done so, click on like the share screen thing that I've
- 59:16got posted here because I'm gonna show you a delivery that happened at our UPS
- 59:21store the other day, and I'm curious if you can spot what is wrong
- 59:27about this picture so you can see that trade. Do you see it?
- 59:31Yeah? I see it. The thing is it's at the UPS store,
- 59:38not inside the UPS store, because apparently when the delivery happened, it was
- 59:44outside of the business hours of the UPS store. So the Amazon delivery guy
- 59:50left the package outside the front door of the UPS store. He did his
- 59:57job and took the photo of confirming delivery, thinking, ah ha, I
- 1:00:02have done my job. My work here is done. I have left this
- 1:00:06package at the location. Dude, this is not a residence that has at
- 1:00:09a strip mall in Dallas. I am stunned that I ever got that package.
- 1:00:15Really, do you think there's people going by going anonymous package out front
- 1:00:21outside of a store? Let me pick that up. I would have assumed
- 1:00:24so, but I guess maybe not. I thought. You know, it's
- 1:00:27like people will maybe maybe they think that they're not going to bother stealing a
- 1:00:31package off the front porch of a UPS store because maybe they think it's not
- 1:00:36a good item, because only good items will make it to an actual front
- 1:00:38porch of a house. So maybe they see, like grabbing a package in
- 1:00:43front of the UPS store is like, well, clearly there's nothing good in
- 1:00:45the air. They think that's that's so preposterous and so stupid that that's got
- 1:00:49to be a trap. No one's gonna take that, or this is just
- 1:00:53how adorably white you guys are, Like somebody would have clearly somebody would steal
- 1:01:00it as a brown guy driving from that strip mall. And if I saw
- 1:01:02a package out, just a plain brown package outside of a UP store,
- 1:01:07I'm like, we need to leave. That's a good point. Yeah,
- 1:01:14that's someone's following instructions. Be sure to follow all things Treehouse at Treehouse on
