- 0:05Speaker 1: What is of everybody Live in the br app Welcome
- 0:08Speaker 1: to another episode of Cleats and Combos with Deebo Samuel.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I am liv Moods. That is Deebo Samuel and this
- 0:14Speaker 1: is presented.
- 0:15Speaker 2: By State Formed like a good neighbor. State Form is there.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Love it and Debo tell everybody what we have in
- 0:27Speaker 1: store for another episode. We have a very special guest.
- 0:29Speaker 2: We got a young upcoming store Indianapolis Colts wide receiver
- 0:35Speaker 2: Alec Pierce.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Excuse me, Welcome to the show, Bud. Yes, thank you,
- 0:41Speaker 3: thanks having Yes, thank you.
- 0:43Speaker 1: For being here. We appreciate you being here. I want
- 0:47Speaker 1: to talk to both of you a little bit as
- 0:49Speaker 1: we get into things, because I think both of you
- 0:51Speaker 1: maybe didn't have your season and the way that you
- 0:54Speaker 1: had hoped initially, but it doesn't take away from all
- 0:57Speaker 1: the great things you guys have done this season. For you, specifically,
- 1:00Speaker 1: you had a great showing on Sunday six catches, one
- 1:03Speaker 1: hundred and twenty two yards, one touchdown. What was the
- 1:05Speaker 1: key to success for you on Sunday.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Just you know, got a lot of opportunities, especially in
- 1:13Speaker 4: the game kind of you know, we had Joe Flakaway
- 1:16Speaker 4: in the quarterback and I've learned that Joe kind of
- 1:19Speaker 4: is one of the guys that he'll just give you chances.
- 1:22Speaker 4: He's gonna throw it up to you, even if you
- 1:23Speaker 4: might have some defenders on you. So that's he just
- 1:26Speaker 4: gave me some chances and I was able to make
- 1:28Speaker 4: some plays, and yeah, it just kind of went from there.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I love it. Deebo. Did you get a chance to
- 1:34Speaker 1: watch the Colts play?
- 1:35Speaker 3: Oh? Nah, dud. I had a lot of family here
- 1:37Speaker 3: all week, so I was just you know, all over
- 1:40Speaker 3: the place for the most part.
- 1:40Speaker 1: It was the holidays. It was the holidays. And Devo,
- 1:44Speaker 1: you yourself also had a pretty awesome Monday night football performance,
- 1:47Speaker 1: and we'll get to that a little later in the show. Again,
- 1:51Speaker 1: maybe your team's success was not the way neither of
- 1:53Speaker 1: you wanted the season to end, but both of you,
- 1:55Speaker 1: nonetheless have had your own personal successes. Alec, I want
- 1:59Speaker 1: to ask you, have you seen the comments from Pat
- 2:03Speaker 1: McAfee as of late. Maybe you haven't, And if you haven't,
- 2:06Speaker 1: I can tell you what some of the things he's
- 2:08Speaker 1: been saying.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I've seen some of the things he's been saying,
- 2:14Speaker 4: and you know that's you know, he's he's he's a
- 2:19Speaker 4: grave for our organization, you know, so I think he's
- 2:22Speaker 4: entitled to have his own opinion and and all that.
- 2:25Speaker 4: But yeah, I won't I won't get too much into that.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I just want to know from you
- 2:32Speaker 1: without getting too much into what he said, because, like
- 2:35Speaker 1: you said, everyone's entitled to their opinion. But how would
- 2:38Speaker 1: you debunk the claims that there is maybe a culture
- 2:41Speaker 1: issue uh in in Indie and that there's red flags
- 2:45Speaker 1: all over this program? How would you debunk that statement
- 2:48Speaker 1: by Pat?
- 2:49Speaker 4: You know, like, I think he made some statements about
- 2:51Speaker 4: the culture, and you know, I just know the guys
- 2:53Speaker 4: in the locker room we have and I do think
- 2:55Speaker 4: we have a very like high level, high level culture
- 2:59Speaker 4: in high level people in our locker room, just from
- 3:02Speaker 4: a cultural standpoint, you know, people that work hard, people
- 3:07Speaker 4: that you know, get along together well. So I wasn't
- 3:11Speaker 4: exactly sure where those comments came from. But you know,
- 3:15Speaker 4: like I said, everyone their own opinion, and you're.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Right about that, yeah, and typically people do have their
- 3:23Speaker 1: their own opinions.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Devo.
- 3:24Speaker 1: You can kind of speak to that though. Do you
- 3:26Speaker 1: feel like when people make comments like that, you know,
- 3:29Speaker 1: the saying where there's smoke, there's fire. Do you think
- 3:32Speaker 1: that some things truly have no backing to them at
- 3:35Speaker 1: all and people are just talking to talk.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Yeah, you see that lot for sure, people just talking
- 3:40Speaker 2: to talk. I mean they see one person say, you know,
- 3:43Speaker 2: it's like a it's like a chain reaction. They see
- 3:45Speaker 2: one person say one thing, and they like, oh, I'm
- 3:47Speaker 2: gonna say the same thing. They say it but in
- 3:48Speaker 2: a different way than here, come to the next person,
- 3:50Speaker 2: and then the next person, and they don't really know what.
- 3:52Speaker 3: They are going on for real.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's easy to have that outside perspective
- 3:58Speaker 1: and think that you know everything. And again, and like
- 4:00Speaker 1: Alex said, people are entitled to their opinion, but doesn't
- 4:03Speaker 1: always make it right. I would ask both of you guys,
- 4:07Speaker 1: and I'm gonna start with Alec, what do you think
- 4:09Speaker 1: it's going to take or what needs to change within
- 4:13Speaker 1: your team to make a playoff runt next season.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I think we just need to take that next step,
- 4:19Speaker 4: you know. I think ever since our new coach came in,
- 4:22Speaker 4: you know, like last year it was our first year
- 4:26Speaker 4: with the new staff and we ended up going nine
- 4:28Speaker 4: and eight. We were just kind of right on that cusp.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Just one game away, and then this year, you know,
- 4:34Speaker 4: kind of similar situation where we like coming down to December,
- 4:37Speaker 4: we had to win some games and unfortunately we didn't
- 4:40Speaker 4: get it done, but we were just we were also
- 4:41Speaker 4: really close. And I think the biggest thing that we've
- 4:44Speaker 4: let down has been just early in the season, we
- 4:48Speaker 4: got to do better against the division. Like I know,
- 4:51Speaker 4: last year we lost two games early to Jacksonville and
- 4:54Speaker 4: they were kind of in the driver's seat for the
- 4:56Speaker 4: longest time to win our division. And then Houston kind
- 4:58Speaker 4: of came out of nowhere. But jackson was really that
- 5:01Speaker 4: team I'd say, like early in the year that was
- 5:02Speaker 4: that was kind of like the favorites. This year, the
- 5:05Speaker 4: same same thing happened this year with Houston, you know.
- 5:07Speaker 4: So it was just it was just it was a
- 5:10Speaker 4: lot just losing that game, that game, first game of
- 5:13Speaker 4: the year, and then we went down to Houston, you know,
- 5:15Speaker 4: maybe a week six or seven, kind of like early
- 5:18Speaker 4: in the year still and we lost to them again,
- 5:21Speaker 4: and just you know how it is if you lose
- 5:22Speaker 4: two games to a team in the division, like that's
- 5:25Speaker 4: a tiebreaker right there. So we got you gotta Yeah,
- 5:28Speaker 4: it's it's it's like those games are like worth double
- 5:30Speaker 4: pretty much.
- 5:31Speaker 1: So yeah, I think Deevo you can probably relate to
- 5:35Speaker 1: that a little bit because your division this year was
- 5:37Speaker 1: just weird. It was very weird. It felt like it
- 5:39Speaker 1: was just a constant blood bath, a battle back and forth.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Did you what do you think the forty nine ers
- 5:44Speaker 1: need to do differently to get back on track. I
- 5:47Speaker 1: would say, because it's you guys have been a playoff.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Yeah, we just at the end of the day, we
- 5:51Speaker 2: got to protect the ball on offense. At the end
- 5:53Speaker 2: of the day, we got to take the ball on defense.
- 5:57Speaker 2: This game come down to the ball, protecting it and
- 5:59Speaker 2: taking it away at the end of the day, we
- 6:01Speaker 2: didn't We didn't do that as well we have these
- 6:04Speaker 2: previous years. But ultimately, like you know, injuries and everything
- 6:08Speaker 2: come with this game. It's just try to be, you know,
- 6:10Speaker 2: as healthy as you can throughout the year. Certain things
- 6:14Speaker 2: you can't control. That happened to a couple of players
- 6:17Speaker 2: early on and during the season, but you know, that
- 6:20Speaker 2: kind of took a toll on people. So at the
- 6:22Speaker 2: end of the day, you if you see one of
- 6:24Speaker 2: your brothers heard it, kind of take it kind of
- 6:25Speaker 2: affected you as well.
- 6:26Speaker 3: But at the end of the day. This is a job.
- 6:28Speaker 3: You've got to continue to go out there and work.
- 6:30Speaker 2: But ultimately, like you know, be as healthy as we
- 6:33Speaker 2: can stack dubs, like be better at protecting and taking
- 6:38Speaker 2: taking the ball away.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely. A Like, let's talk a little bit about
- 6:43Speaker 1: your quarterback and Anthony Richardson. I'm actually a huge fan
- 6:46Speaker 1: of it is. I love his game. Uh, he's very physical,
- 6:49Speaker 1: He's very very fun to watch. What is something that
- 6:51Speaker 1: you've seen in practice that maybe the fans have not
- 6:54Speaker 1: seen from Anthony Richardson that maybe shocked you or something
- 6:58Speaker 1: that uh you admire about him that we don't get
- 7:01Speaker 1: to see.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean he's had some throws in practice. You know,
- 7:06Speaker 4: obviously you see the ones in the game, and he's
- 7:08Speaker 4: made some throws I think this year that like private
- 7:11Speaker 4: quarterbacks have never ever made in the in the league.
- 7:14Speaker 4: But just the throws in like continuation of that, the
- 7:17Speaker 4: throws he makes in practice, like when he's especially when
- 7:19Speaker 4: he's like moving out the pocket kind of extending plays,
- 7:23Speaker 4: just like launching one downfield yor fitting one in a
- 7:25Speaker 4: tight window. He's just got He's got so much on
- 7:27Speaker 4: talent and so much athletic ability, Like he can make
- 7:31Speaker 4: all those like crazy off flat room throws and all that.
- 7:34Speaker 4: So it's pretty fun as a receiver because you're kind
- 7:36Speaker 4: of always alive and you know, it keeps you like
- 7:38Speaker 4: just once the play breaks down. First of all, like
- 7:41Speaker 4: you only like he never really gets tackled by Like
- 7:44Speaker 4: he can break like a d n like real those
- 7:46Speaker 4: those big guys up there, like they kind of struggle
- 7:49Speaker 4: to take him down anyways. So he's got that, and
- 7:51Speaker 4: then he can just break the pocket and get outside
- 7:54Speaker 4: and scramble around and make those throws.
- 7:56Speaker 1: He's very, very fun to watch. I've definitely enjoyed watching him.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Do you think people overreacted to the tap out incident
- 8:08Speaker 1: with Anthony Richardson earlier this season?
- 8:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I think people did overreact. I mean I don't
- 8:14Speaker 4: I know in our locker room, I don't think it
- 8:16Speaker 4: was at all like a like a big issue. I think,
- 8:20Speaker 4: you know, I think he more so just like learned
- 8:23Speaker 4: learned a lesson from that that Like it's more so
- 8:26Speaker 4: about the optics of it, you know, like he like
- 8:28Speaker 4: he's a guy that he's going to be our leader
- 8:30Speaker 4: of our team and all that, so like just knowing
- 8:33Speaker 4: like the optics of that if you tap out like that.
- 8:35Speaker 4: People are gonna think you're like you're giving up or whatever.
- 8:38Speaker 4: But I mean if you go back and look at
- 8:40Speaker 4: the film, I mean he was running. He was running
- 8:42Speaker 4: around all all like all that series like a back
- 8:46Speaker 4: to back scrambles, and that was probably a long series.
- 8:48Speaker 4: So I know he was really tired and he was
- 8:50Speaker 4: having probably gonna have a hard time like saying the
- 8:52Speaker 4: playout in the huddle. But I think there's things you
- 8:55Speaker 4: can do, especially with quarterback, maybe take a time out
- 8:57Speaker 4: or whatever. Like just just got to kind of understand that.
- 9:01Speaker 1: You know, Yeah, I think a learning lesson for sure,
- 9:04Speaker 1: but I don't certainly I don't play in the NFL,
- 9:07Speaker 1: but I would imagine there's probably a lot of moments
- 9:09Speaker 1: that as players, you're like, Okay, can I get a second?
- 9:12Speaker 1: Like that was a lot either mentally or physically. I'm
- 9:15Speaker 1: sure it's pretty common. But when we talked to Josh
- 9:18Speaker 1: Downs earlier this season, we kind of got the same
- 9:20Speaker 1: sentiment from him that he feels like there was a
- 9:22Speaker 1: lot of maturity that came out of that situation for
- 9:25Speaker 1: Anthony Richardson, and he kind of glowed up in a
- 9:27Speaker 1: sense as a quarterback. So do you feel the same
- 9:30Speaker 1: way that his game kind of changed after that moment
- 9:34Speaker 1: for sure.
- 9:34Speaker 4: I think I think I think it made him understand
- 9:37Speaker 4: more like the role he takes as a leader of
- 9:39Speaker 4: the team, like being the quarterback. Obviously, you know, he's
- 9:42Speaker 4: a captain for us and all that, but I think
- 9:44Speaker 4: he probably just realized that he is really like the
- 9:48Speaker 4: kind of like the leader of the team, like the
- 9:50Speaker 4: heartbeat of the team. So I think he understood, like, Okay,
- 9:53Speaker 4: I gotta be kind of more, you know, like like
- 9:56Speaker 4: what I do is going to be a big deal
- 9:58Speaker 4: for everybody, even if it's just like, you know, little
- 10:01Speaker 4: things like that.
- 10:01Speaker 1: So yeah, absolutely debo. Speaking of being a leader on
- 10:06Speaker 1: a team, you are a leader on your team, and
- 10:09Speaker 1: you've been in this league for a little bit now,
- 10:11Speaker 1: you've learned a lot of things along the way. I
- 10:12Speaker 1: would imagine we've got Alec here, young up and coming,
- 10:16Speaker 1: had a great season this year. What is something you
- 10:19Speaker 1: wish you knew when you were younger in this league
- 10:22Speaker 1: that you've now since learned.
- 10:26Speaker 2: I think everything that you know I knew now I
- 10:30Speaker 2: know now is I kinda I kind of knew like
- 10:33Speaker 2: half half half of the way through my rookie season
- 10:35Speaker 2: because I had Emanuel Sanders and you know, he'd been
- 10:39Speaker 2: in the league for a long time.
- 10:41Speaker 3: So like when he came there, he kind of like took.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Me on his wing and literally told me everything, showed
- 10:47Speaker 2: me everything, and just watching him and how he went
- 10:50Speaker 2: about work, practice and all those type of things. It's
- 10:53Speaker 2: just like when he came in, it just changed my
- 10:56Speaker 2: perspective of you know, how I approached the game for
- 10:58Speaker 2: us every rip and you know, like you know at practice,
- 11:03Speaker 2: say you mess up on a route and you know
- 11:04Speaker 2: you only get one off a week. You know, you
- 11:06Speaker 2: installed on Wednesday, you installed on Thursday, you install on Friday,
- 11:09Speaker 2: and you go out to practice and you mess up.
- 11:11Speaker 3: It's kind of like in the coach's head, he's like,
- 11:14Speaker 3: can I call this in the game? Will he miss
- 11:15Speaker 3: it up again?
- 11:16Speaker 2: So it's just like when your number is called, always
- 11:19Speaker 2: be prepared, like be ready.
- 11:20Speaker 3: For the moment. Don't let the moment be too big
- 11:22Speaker 3: for you.
- 11:23Speaker 2: And like studying the place because like like for me,
- 11:26Speaker 2: like they have me doing so much stuff and this
- 11:29Speaker 2: is that and the third and sometimes I still fell
- 11:31Speaker 2: up at the end of the day. Like if I'm
- 11:33Speaker 2: messed up, I'm messed up. Going full speed?
- 11:37Speaker 1: Yeah? Who, Alec? Who is your version of Emmanuel Sanders
- 11:41Speaker 1: to debo? Uh with the Colts, someone that took you
- 11:45Speaker 1: under their wing.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Yeah. So I was always a part of like a
- 11:49Speaker 4: really really young receiver room because you know t Y
- 11:53Speaker 4: Hilton was he was like I never got to play
- 11:56Speaker 4: with him. He left and then they brought me in.
- 11:59Speaker 4: So like Michael, it's kind always been my my veteran leader,
- 12:02Speaker 4: my rookie year, you know, is Michael Pittman, Paris Campbell,
- 12:05Speaker 4: those two Ashton doing and then you know PC hadn't
- 12:10Speaker 4: been with us the last two years, but Ashton and
- 12:13Speaker 4: pitt are still there. So those guys I look up too.
- 12:15Speaker 4: I just kind of like learned the work ethic and
- 12:18Speaker 4: like with the way to go about your business from now.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that. Do you know anything you want
- 12:23Speaker 1: to ask Alec while we've got them here?
- 12:25Speaker 3: Glenn Bird? Am I saying that? Right? Glin Bird?
- 12:28Speaker 4: Glenberg West? Yeah?
- 12:29Speaker 2: Yeah, Glenberg West High School right outside of Chicago, and
- 12:33Speaker 2: then Cincinnati for college football? What was your recruitment like
- 12:38Speaker 2: what other schools was? You know you was considering another
- 12:41Speaker 2: than Cincinnati?
- 12:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I was. You know, for me, I always really
- 12:47Speaker 4: wanted to play in the Big Ten and I didn't
- 12:50Speaker 4: have any those opportunities, Like I think, you know somebody.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Both my parents went to Northwestern and played sports there,
- 12:57Speaker 4: so I grew up watching a ton of big tents boards,
- 13:01Speaker 4: going to football games. My dad played football there, my
- 13:03Speaker 4: mom played volleyball there. So for me, like, I really
- 13:06Speaker 4: want to go to Northwestern even though they were never
- 13:08Speaker 4: never great, I would have gone there if they offered me.
- 13:12Speaker 4: But other than that, you know, any of those Big
- 13:13Speaker 4: Ten schools, I kind of watched so much of it,
- 13:15Speaker 4: so I would have loved to play up there. And
- 13:17Speaker 4: it really like SEC, they don't come up and recruit,
- 13:20Speaker 4: like they don't really recruit, especially like skill position now
- 13:23Speaker 4: really recruiting out of the like Illinois and stuff like that.
- 13:26Speaker 4: So I probably had no chance going down there. But yeah,
- 13:31Speaker 4: for me, like it was like, you know, the Big
- 13:33Speaker 4: ten schools were trying to get me to walk on.
- 13:35Speaker 4: I was kind of like a late bloomer a little
- 13:36Speaker 4: bit you know later to getting recruited and stuff like that,
- 13:40Speaker 4: and a lot of the max schools I had, I
- 13:43Speaker 4: got offers from those schools and ended up you know, Cincinnati,
- 13:47Speaker 4: Like I played out my senior year because I wanted
- 13:48Speaker 4: to get a scholarship to a Big ten school and
- 13:51Speaker 4: none of it happened. But the only offer I got
- 13:53Speaker 4: for my senior year was Cincinnati, And you know, at
- 13:56Speaker 4: the time, like they were I was probably gonna go
- 13:58Speaker 4: to like Miami or High or something in the the
- 14:00Speaker 4: MAC and Cincinnati was like both they were both four
- 14:05Speaker 4: and eight. They're kind of like the same level. They
- 14:07Speaker 4: played each other every year, Like Cincinnati barely beat them
- 14:09Speaker 4: that year, so they weren't really better than them. But
- 14:11Speaker 4: like when I went and visited there, it just felt
- 14:14Speaker 4: like it felt like a lot bigger like possibilities there,
- 14:17Speaker 4: you know, like like the stadium, the the atmosphere. I
- 14:20Speaker 4: feel like they cared about like their sports and stuff,
- 14:22Speaker 4: you know, like Oscar Robertson played basketball there, Like they
- 14:24Speaker 4: have a top basketball program, Like their football had been
- 14:27Speaker 4: really good when Travis kelce Jason Kelcey were there. So yeah,
- 14:31Speaker 4: it just felt like bigger opportunity, and you know, I
- 14:34Speaker 4: ended up going there. First year, we kind of won
- 14:37Speaker 4: eleven games off a lot of luck, and then the
- 14:40Speaker 4: next I think we won like yeah, we we like
- 14:43Speaker 4: we didn't really play anyone my first year one eleven games.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Next year we won eleven games. Again, still didn't win conference.
- 14:49Speaker 4: And then the last two years, like we were like
- 14:51Speaker 4: a top ten team in the country, ended up playing
- 14:54Speaker 4: you know, my my senior year, we played in the
- 14:56Speaker 4: playoffs against Bama. So yeah, it was pretty cool, like
- 15:00Speaker 4: with nine guys drafted out of my class, so it
- 15:03Speaker 4: was pretty special because we were technically like we were
- 15:06Speaker 4: an American Yeah, we were like a group of five schools,
- 15:09Speaker 4: so we were in like a big, big time school
- 15:11Speaker 4: at that time. But now they're in the Big twelve.
- 15:13Speaker 4: So I can say, you know, I helped him do that.
- 15:15Speaker 2: So you played your part, for sure. You play that
- 15:18Speaker 2: you played at Cincinnati with Sauce for sure. Any college stories,
- 15:24Speaker 2: funny practice in the game.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Man, we so, so he always played to the boundary.
- 15:31Speaker 4: We had Sauce, we had Kobe Bryant was our other corner,
- 15:34Speaker 4: so we had we had a lot of really good
- 15:36Speaker 4: secondary and yeah, me and so I always played. I
- 15:39Speaker 4: played boundary receivers. So I go against him every day
- 15:42Speaker 4: in practice, and like he's like he's like very like
- 15:46Speaker 4: like he's pretty like he's super competitive. He's gonna go
- 15:48Speaker 4: hard in practice, but he's kind of like chill, like
- 15:50Speaker 4: he's laid back, like he's gonna be kind of like
- 15:52Speaker 4: like if he's talking, it's like real lighthearted, you know.
- 15:54Speaker 4: So we, uh, we would get after it, and you know,
- 15:58Speaker 4: I think I'm kind of the same way. And but yeah,
- 16:00Speaker 4: we definitely have some stories of like just like us
- 16:04Speaker 4: getting getting them getting pissed at each other and like
- 16:06Speaker 4: fighting out there and like that's that's not really either
- 16:08Speaker 4: of us. So like people always love him. We would
- 16:10Speaker 4: do some stuff like that, but we would get on
- 16:12Speaker 4: each other's nerves a little bit, you know, because he's
- 16:14Speaker 4: a good player. And now I'm out there we practice
- 16:17Speaker 4: on Sundays the day after the game. I'm out there
- 16:19Speaker 4: like hurting from the day before the game. He tried
- 16:21Speaker 4: to jam me a little too hard and I'm like
- 16:23Speaker 4: took him down. Tackle them one time it turned to
- 16:26Speaker 4: the whole like fight. Everyone loved it though, So yeah.
- 16:29Speaker 2: No, for sure, what was your you know, everybody got
- 16:32Speaker 2: this moment, what was your you know, welcome to the
- 16:35Speaker 2: NFL moment?
- 16:36Speaker 4: Oh man, my, So my first game, my first NFL
- 16:40Speaker 4: game was was terrible. We went down to play at
- 16:42Speaker 4: Houston and my first target was like broken down play
- 16:46Speaker 4: scramble they threw to me. Why it would have been
- 16:49Speaker 4: like probably my easiest touch in my career. I dropped it. Uh,
- 16:53Speaker 4: and then either like my second I ended up with
- 16:56Speaker 4: no catches on the day, probably like three targets, no catches.
- 16:58Speaker 4: My second or third target, they threw me like a
- 17:02Speaker 4: It was like a backside end route in quarterback kind
- 17:04Speaker 4: of held the ball for a while, so I got
- 17:06Speaker 4: to like those quarters, I got to the backside safety.
- 17:08Speaker 4: He threw it and it was Petriot and he was
- 17:11Speaker 4: a rookie to his first game, and he hit me
- 17:13Speaker 4: so hard he bent my face mask in. So I
- 17:16Speaker 4: actually got it. I actually got a concussion that game.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Your toughest dB you played against the NFL. Give me
- 17:21Speaker 2: your three no order?
- 17:22Speaker 4: Uh, I'd say, I'd say certain certain is really good.
- 17:28Speaker 4: We just played him a few weeks. She like she
- 17:30Speaker 4: likes that answer.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I do this every week. Devo gets sick of
- 17:35Speaker 1: it every week, and I just don't stop.
- 17:37Speaker 4: So yeah, I would say, I mean sauce in my
- 17:46Speaker 4: guy from college, so that I got the most you
- 17:48Speaker 4: know reps against him, uh, out of any any DV
- 17:52Speaker 4: in the in the league. And then you know, honestly
- 17:56Speaker 4: in the in the slot, like Kenny Moore. Just year
- 17:59Speaker 4: in year out, he's been Yeah, I don't get to
- 18:01Speaker 4: go against a ton of gout, slack guys on Yeah,
- 18:03Speaker 4: I'm usually on the outside, so I don't get to go.
- 18:05Speaker 4: It's a ton of slack guys. But just watching Kennedy play,
- 18:07Speaker 4: like he's just been getting so many turnovers and like
- 18:10Speaker 4: last year he single handling won us again he got
- 18:12Speaker 4: two pick sixes and our offense wasn't do anything. He
- 18:14Speaker 4: basically won the game for us. So yeah, like he's
- 18:17Speaker 4: he's pretty special. Watch he makes some crazy plays. He's
- 18:20Speaker 4: probably the hardest guy I've ever had to like block,
- 18:22Speaker 4: Like you like can't even like it's hard to touch him.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Like if you's got like a bubble screen or something
- 18:27Speaker 4: you got to block him. It's like it's like good luck,
- 18:30Speaker 4: you know. So he's just so quick. So yeah, i'd
- 18:33Speaker 4: say that was one, like probably top three.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I like it. I like it a lot. Uh, well,
- 18:39Speaker 1: let me flash you back. Oh I'm sorry, let me.
- 18:42Speaker 1: We're gonna flash back to your getting drafted moment, second
- 18:46Speaker 1: round pick in the twenty twenty two NFL Draft. Take
- 18:49Speaker 1: us through the moment of getting the call from the Colts,
- 18:52Speaker 1: and did you know that you would be going there
- 18:55Speaker 1: pre draft? Did you have any idea?
- 19:00Speaker 4: So like, I actually I kind of thought I was
- 19:03Speaker 4: going to go there. It was actually funny because my
- 19:05Speaker 4: my barber, well it was like it was I thought
- 19:08Speaker 4: I was gonna go there or the Bears or the
- 19:11Speaker 4: Packers and okay, but my barber, I guess, like my
- 19:14Speaker 4: barber text my friend. He cut all my my boy's
- 19:16Speaker 4: hair in college, and he texted my friend and he said,
- 19:20Speaker 4: like he said, like a llah came down to him
- 19:23Speaker 4: in the night and gave him like and told him
- 19:25Speaker 4: that that I was going to be on the Colts
- 19:27Speaker 4: or something. So he got a little like he got
- 19:29Speaker 4: he got. Yeah, he basically said he had like a
- 19:32Speaker 4: vision because he texted he texted my friend like before
- 19:36Speaker 4: like in the morning of the draft that you know,
- 19:38Speaker 4: so like wow, he basically called up a shot. But
- 19:41Speaker 4: that was that was pretty cool to hear because my
- 19:43Speaker 4: friend didn't say anything to me, but he only told
- 19:45Speaker 4: me after, you.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Know, but oh, that's crazy. I low key I get
- 19:50Speaker 1: scared of like fortune tellers because I don't really want
- 19:52Speaker 1: to know. Like sometimes I'm scared they're going to say
- 19:55Speaker 1: something like oh I pictured this happening, and it's like, whoa,
- 19:58Speaker 1: I did not need to like ignorance is but that's
- 20:00Speaker 1: really cool that he had like a moment.
- 20:04Speaker 4: Yes, it was wild. Yeah, but it was a special
- 20:07Speaker 4: day for sure. And I was with all my family, friends,
- 20:10Speaker 4: friends from home, friends from school. A lot of my
- 20:13Speaker 4: teammates came up. So yeah, this was a good day.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Well.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Question, last question on the draft, sorry Debo, last question
- 20:21Speaker 1: on the draft. Do you remember all of the receivers
- 20:25Speaker 1: that were taking ahead of you in the draft? Yeah?
- 20:28Speaker 1: I don't. Maybe he doesn't, but I'm we're going to
- 20:30Speaker 1: test his knowledge in his memory.
- 20:34Speaker 4: I I I do, but like I don't know if
- 20:38Speaker 4: like I don't know if I do honestly, Like I
- 20:40Speaker 4: don't remember. I think I was like this, I was
- 20:43Speaker 4: like the twelve or thirteenth I was like the twelfth
- 20:45Speaker 4: or thirteenth receiver taken. I think, and I know there
- 20:49Speaker 4: was like I could, I could probably I could probably
- 20:52Speaker 4: name home. It'll be a fun game try to do.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Okay, here we go.
- 20:56Speaker 4: You have the list, you have the list, Yeah, I
- 20:58Speaker 4: got the list.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I have the list.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Yes, okay, all right, Uh the first round picks was
- 21:03Speaker 4: like Drake London, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Treylan Burks. What's
- 21:10Speaker 4: that for it? There m John Dotson, James and Williams.
- 21:20Speaker 4: And I want to say, there's one more first round pick.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Uh, you're doing really well.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Did I get all the first round picks or now?
- 21:32Speaker 1: Yes, I believe you did. You said, yes you did.
- 21:36Speaker 4: I thought I thought there was like six taken in
- 21:39Speaker 4: the first twenty picts or something. I was like, I
- 21:41Speaker 4: had to turn my phone with my ringer on. I
- 21:43Speaker 4: was like, man, I might be a first round pick,
- 21:45Speaker 4: you know, I was. I was trying to just be
- 21:46Speaker 4: a second pick. But yeah, they were.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Just really well, you did really well.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Yeah. Actually, and then second round was Christian Watson because
- 21:56Speaker 4: he went to the Packers. I kind of thought that
- 21:58Speaker 4: might have been like one of my teams that was
- 21:59Speaker 4: actually my team and grown up too, so like I
- 22:01Speaker 4: was my my my cousins and all that wanted me
- 22:03Speaker 4: to go there, Wandall, Robinson, Taewon, Thornton, Uh, George Pickens. Uh,
- 22:17Speaker 4: I think sky Moore was the pick. Sky Moore is
- 22:19Speaker 4: the pick?
- 22:19Speaker 3: Asking me, yeah, I think you got all?
- 22:23Speaker 2: He said, that's in Jamison, Trey lend Bert, Christian Wise,
- 22:30Speaker 2: and one Dale Robinson, Taekwon Thornton and George Pickens.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Yeah I got them all.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Did you say all those? You may have missed one,
- 22:38Speaker 1: but I think you just want to miss Okay, there
- 22:44Speaker 1: you go, Boo, y'all love it. That was Cdebo. He
- 22:47Speaker 1: did care and he did have fun and it was
- 22:49Speaker 1: a fun game.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Yeah, he did board. I was wrong. Yeah, it's finally right.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you, Yeah, finally. Well someone put that, someone
- 22:58Speaker 1: marked that down so he doesn't forget it. Okay, Okay, Alex,
- 23:00Speaker 1: Before we let you get out of here, because we
- 23:02Speaker 1: have taken up some of your time, Thank you number
- 23:04Speaker 1: one for being here. We have enjoyed speaking with you.
- 23:06Speaker 1: But really quick, we want to give you a chance
- 23:09Speaker 1: to pick some college football playoff games and then we'll
- 23:12Speaker 1: go ahead and say goodbye to you. Uh, We've got
- 23:16Speaker 1: the Fiesta Bow Penn State versus Boise State. Who's your
- 23:20Speaker 1: pick in that one?
- 23:22Speaker 4: Oh man, I really want to cheer for boisse and State,
- 23:26Speaker 4: you know, being that that was like Cincinnati, that that
- 23:28Speaker 4: was like me when I was when we were in
- 23:30Speaker 4: the playoffs. So I'm gonna go with Boise State. I'm
- 23:32Speaker 4: gonna pick them.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Okay, Deebo, do you agree.
- 23:36Speaker 3: No, I'm gonna go Paying State with that one.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Okay, all right, we like a little little friendly disagreement.
- 23:43Speaker 1: That's great. Okay. Oregon versus that's fine, that's fine. Yeah,
- 23:48Speaker 1: the head versus heart thing, Yeah, for.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Sure, Rose Bowl organ Ohio State.
- 23:55Speaker 4: See from the heart. I gotta go Oregon. I don't
- 23:57Speaker 4: like Ohio State.
- 23:59Speaker 3: I picked Oregon, big Oregon too, but it's gonna be
- 24:03Speaker 3: a fight.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Okay.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Peach Bowl, we got Texas.
- 24:08Speaker 4: That'll be a good game. I'm gonna want to watch
- 24:10Speaker 4: that game for sure.
- 24:11Speaker 3: That Texas Arizona State Peach Bowl? Who you rocking?
- 24:18Speaker 4: I think I mean Cincinnati be Arizona State. So I
- 24:20Speaker 4: gotta say Texas since it's not even in a bowl game.
- 24:24Speaker 3: And they, yeah, all right, we got the sugar but.
- 24:27Speaker 4: No, Arizona State's hot right now though. I think they've
- 24:29Speaker 4: been on a little bit of rules.
- 24:30Speaker 3: So no, they've running back. They've running back to you
- 24:34Speaker 3: got Sugar Bowl. Nor to Dame versus Georgia.
- 24:41Speaker 4: So so all my coaches from college pretty much are
- 24:43Speaker 4: a Notre Dame now, so I gotta go with Notre Dame.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Never never was a big Notre Dame.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Fan.
- 24:48Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, I know what Devo DeVos Devo is
- 24:51Speaker 1: about to start marking and say, Georgia, I can feel
- 24:54Speaker 1: there it is.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I knew it.
- 24:57Speaker 1: A thank you, Yeah, thank you for being here, Alec.
- 25:01Speaker 1: We appreciate you, and obviously it's been very fun to
- 25:05Speaker 1: watch you play and wishing you nothing but success moving forward, Deebo.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Any final thoughts uh for Alec before we send him on.
- 25:13Speaker 3: His one happy New year?
- 25:16Speaker 4: Uh?
- 25:16Speaker 3: Two?
- 25:17Speaker 2: Make you your detectives off season and get ready for
- 25:19Speaker 2: next next season. They help your team, you know, prepare
- 25:22Speaker 2: for the playoffs.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Sure, thank you, Happy to stay healthy, finished season strong.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Sure appreciate you. Hadding me on.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Yes, thank you for being here, Alec, appreciate you. Okay, Debo,
- 25:35Speaker 1: Now it's just you and me ready to tussle. Uh
- 25:40Speaker 1: this is Debo's least favorite part. No, I'm kidding. First
- 25:43Speaker 1: of all, we got to talk about Monday night football game.
- 25:49Speaker 1: There's a few ways that we can there's a few
- 25:50Speaker 1: ways we can dissect this. Of course. However, I saw
- 25:54Speaker 1: you score again, Yes I did. I sure did see it.
- 25:59Speaker 1: I sure did see it, and I was very proud
- 26:01Speaker 1: of you, very excited for you. Take me through, Take
- 26:04Speaker 1: me through that game. We knew it was gonna be tough.
- 26:06Speaker 1: The Lions, despite being riddled with injuries, they are a
- 26:09Speaker 1: great team. But you guys really kind of had like
- 26:12Speaker 1: a spark of life that I think I have been
- 26:14Speaker 1: personally waiting to see from the forty nine ers this season.
- 26:17Speaker 1: It was a very fun game going back and forth.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Talk me through how you felt in that one and
- 26:22Speaker 1: how you felt after that game.
- 26:24Speaker 2: It was definitely a fun game for sure. You know,
- 26:30Speaker 2: the best fans in the world, you know, they was there.
- 26:32Speaker 2: It was rocking out. We came out hot, and you know,
- 26:35Speaker 2: with a game like that, with you know how explosive
- 26:37Speaker 2: day offense is and how well we was playing, it
- 26:41Speaker 2: was like it's gonna come down.
- 26:42Speaker 3: To the ball and you know, we had two turnovers.
- 26:45Speaker 3: I think they had none.
- 26:47Speaker 2: So at the end of the day, it's you know,
- 26:49Speaker 2: with a game with a shootout like that, when you
- 26:51Speaker 2: know we kind of going back and forth all game,
- 26:53Speaker 2: it's like, all right, man, let's get a stop. Let's
- 26:55Speaker 2: get a stop. They stopped this. You know, we kind
- 26:57Speaker 2: of laying on our defense a good bit, but you know,
- 27:00Speaker 2: they had a good game plan. We had a good
- 27:02Speaker 2: game plan, and you know, it was a shootout. It
- 27:04Speaker 2: was definitely a fun game though for sure.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, it was definitely back and forth. I was
- 27:12Speaker 1: very you had a kick return. He kind of got
- 27:15Speaker 1: knocked around a little bit. I did see that. But
- 27:17Speaker 1: you you played, and you were playing great, and you
- 27:20Speaker 1: seemed like you had a lot of fun out there,
- 27:21Speaker 1: so I was very happy for you in that regard.
- 27:23Speaker 1: After the game, your pal Ricky credited you, Debo with
- 27:27Speaker 1: being his vet and helping him develop this entire year.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Ricky had to say this about you, Debo. Deebo has
- 27:35Speaker 1: been a tremendous support to me, a great leader for me.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I just want to make sure that he feels appreciated.
- 27:42Speaker 1: What is your reaction to hearing that for me?
- 27:45Speaker 2: You know I seen that earlier, and you know, me
- 27:48Speaker 2: and Ricky talk every day all the time, you know,
- 27:51Speaker 2: out there bouncing around just that and the third but
- 27:54Speaker 2: you know, when it's when it's time for work, it's
- 27:56Speaker 2: time for work. Kind of like I said last week,
- 27:59Speaker 2: when you know Jake was on the show for is like.
- 28:02Speaker 3: The person that Ricky is high energy.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I can come in there with you know, not in
- 28:06Speaker 2: the best mood in the world, but you see this,
- 28:08Speaker 2: you see these guys just walking the room smiling either year,
- 28:12Speaker 2: jumping up and down. Just that and the third and
- 28:14Speaker 2: you know, with with you know, the way he played
- 28:16Speaker 2: last night, man, you can kind of see my emotion
- 28:20Speaker 2: for him during the game, like every play he made.
- 28:23Speaker 2: You know, I'm right there with him, you know, with
- 28:25Speaker 2: the stuff that he dealt with. And you know, when
- 28:28Speaker 2: that situation happened, probably one of the first couple of
- 28:31Speaker 2: people to reach out and you know, make sure he
- 28:33Speaker 2: was good. And ever since then, like me and Ricky,
- 28:36Speaker 2: has just been ascited as you can get.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I love that. I just not to be corny, but
- 28:41Speaker 1: I did just get goosebumps. Don't worry about it. Maybe
- 28:43Speaker 1: the air just popped on. Maybe that's what it was.
- 28:45Speaker 1: I think the air conditioning just turned on. So don't
- 28:47Speaker 1: worry about that. I know that he has learned a
- 28:50Speaker 1: lot from you. But you kind of maybe just answered
- 28:52Speaker 1: the question that I want to ask as a follow up,
- 28:54Speaker 1: which is what have you learned from him? It sounds
- 28:57Speaker 1: like maybe his contagious energy.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Nah, his something you've learned.
- 29:00Speaker 1: What else have you learned from Ricky?
- 29:02Speaker 3: His energy is through the roof.
- 29:05Speaker 2: One thing I learned by Ricky, You know with you know,
- 29:08Speaker 2: dealing with what he's dealt with is just like you
- 29:11Speaker 2: can never take this game life for granted and for
- 29:14Speaker 2: him to you know, go through the situation that he
- 29:16Speaker 2: went through and came back and fitishing the season as
- 29:19Speaker 2: strong as he is right now and we got one
- 29:22Speaker 2: game left, is you know, this guy's the limit for him.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Like I said, weekend and week out throughout the show,
- 29:27Speaker 2: like Ricky's going to be a guy in this league.
- 29:29Speaker 2: He's trained that way, he prepared that way, and you
- 29:31Speaker 2: know that's how you go about work.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I love that. One other thing that came out of
- 29:38Speaker 1: this game was forty nine Ers owner Jed Yorke saying
- 29:42Speaker 1: empathetically that Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch aren't going anywhere. Deebo,
- 29:47Speaker 1: what is your reaction to the leaders staying with the
- 29:50Speaker 1: forty nine ers?
- 29:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I mean we all know that, you know,
- 29:54Speaker 2: kind of like what we were just talking about earlier,
- 29:56Speaker 2: like people gonna say, you know, they see one person
- 29:58Speaker 2: to say something about something and then all of a sudden,
- 30:00Speaker 2: it's just a chain reaction. But at the end of
- 30:02Speaker 2: the day, no one knows what go on in the building.
- 30:04Speaker 2: But as Jid coaches, players, and at the end of
- 30:08Speaker 2: the day, like we know, John nick Cole is not
- 30:10Speaker 2: going nowhere, So it's like, you know, we don't even
- 30:11Speaker 2: feed until all they give it the energy at.
- 30:13Speaker 3: The end of the day.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Love that, and I would imagine as much as you
- 30:18Speaker 1: guys want them to stay, they also it sounds like
- 30:22Speaker 1: they want to be a part of the forty nine
- 30:24Speaker 1: ers organization. There's been a lot of media and fans
- 30:26Speaker 1: that have been pushing for Kyle to be traded to
- 30:28Speaker 1: the Bears. I just can't picture him wanting that. I mean,
- 30:32Speaker 1: no offense to the Bears, but.
- 30:34Speaker 3: He don't want to go nowhere.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Yeah, sorry Bears, Sorry Bears. I think he's he's staying
- 30:39Speaker 1: with San Francisco here. Okay, let's get to your state
- 30:42Speaker 1: Farm Bundle of the week debo. We've had some exceptional
- 30:45Speaker 1: performances in the NFL. Kind of feels like it's getting
- 30:49Speaker 1: hard to pick your bundle because of how much talent
- 30:52Speaker 1: is in this league. But we'll start with the quarterback.
- 30:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna call him the quarterback right now because he
- 30:59Speaker 1: really is saying exceptionally well. Baker Mayfield.
- 31:03Speaker 2: You know I talked about you know, I talk about
- 31:04Speaker 2: Bake a good bit with.
- 31:06Speaker 1: You know, yeah, he's fantastic.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Like he's like the spark of the team, like the energy,
- 31:13Speaker 2: like the leader, the guy with all the energy. This
- 31:16Speaker 2: is that and the third And to have a guy
- 31:18Speaker 2: like that on your team as a quarterback, it's just no, like, man,
- 31:21Speaker 2: this man gonna give you everything he got. Like he's
- 31:23Speaker 2: not the biggest, he's not the tallest, he's not the fastest,
- 31:26Speaker 2: but at the end of the day, you should just
- 31:28Speaker 2: he plays like you know, this is is his last
- 31:32Speaker 2: Like the way he go out there and work, you know,
- 31:35Speaker 2: twenty seven for thirty two, three fifty nine, my bad
- 31:38Speaker 2: bake five tds and in a blowout. But I mean,
- 31:44Speaker 2: the man been doing this weekend and week out. I
- 31:46Speaker 2: can one player that stuck out to media is you know,
- 31:49Speaker 2: we played him and you got Bosa like dragging him
- 31:52Speaker 2: down and he was still able to make a play
- 31:55Speaker 2: and get the ball pass the first down.
- 31:56Speaker 3: I think that was one of the most impressive players
- 31:58Speaker 3: I haven't seen by Baker for sure.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Yeah, he just has fight, like he's got that dog
- 32:03Speaker 1: in him. I know people say that, but yeah, I
- 32:07Speaker 1: mean people say that about athletes all the time, but really,
- 32:09Speaker 1: when you watch Baker Mayfield, especially this season. It feels
- 32:12Speaker 1: like he's just kind of had to glow up and
- 32:14Speaker 1: he's just like entering a new era of Baker and
- 32:17Speaker 1: it's been really really fun to watch. The Bucks also
- 32:22Speaker 1: defeated the Eagles and the Lions this season, so they've
- 32:26Speaker 1: been a force to be reckoned with. They're definitely not
- 32:28Speaker 1: one to sleep on. And Baker has kind of been,
- 32:31Speaker 1: like you said, leading the charge there. He's been pretty great.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Kind of he's kind of been rejuvenated in Tampa and
- 32:39Speaker 1: it's been really really fun to watch him. So we
- 32:41Speaker 1: love Baker Mayfield over here on this show. Next one
- 32:45Speaker 1: t Higgins and this one kind of this one sings
- 32:47Speaker 1: a little depot because again, okay, well you didn't need
- 32:57Speaker 1: to you know what, deebo I watched the game.
- 33:01Speaker 3: He went to Clemson, even though how can he not
- 33:03Speaker 3: be he went.
- 33:04Speaker 2: He went to Clemson, So I kind of new t
- 33:05Speaker 2: from way back, dam but you know he yeah, he snalled.
- 33:09Speaker 1: He's amazing.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Yeah yeah he did.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Yeah he did at the.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Expense of my.
- 33:16Speaker 1: At the expense of my Broncos. Yeah yeah, yeah, he
- 33:19Speaker 1: did what.
- 33:20Speaker 3: He needed to do. What does that mean built days?
- 33:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah he did do that. Thank you very much, Devo.
- 33:32Speaker 1: I actually wish I didn't ask you what that meant,
- 33:35Speaker 1: but you are absolutely right. And I think what's crazy
- 33:37Speaker 1: about this Bengals team all together is you've got Joe
- 33:41Speaker 1: Burrow MVP level season, Jamar Chase MVP level season, but
- 33:45Speaker 1: you really can't forget about how exceptional T Higgins has
- 33:48Speaker 1: also been this season. I mean, they are stacked with talent.
- 33:51Speaker 1: T Higgins is doing what he needs to do. Joe
- 33:54Speaker 1: Burrow in that game thirty nine of forty nine, four
- 33:57Speaker 1: hundred and twelve yards and four touchdowns beat, I learned
- 34:02Speaker 1: a new phrase. ATA Yeah, no it was. It was very,
- 34:06Speaker 1: very tough. But I want to ask you because we
- 34:09Speaker 1: have talked about the MVP race quite a bit, and
- 34:12Speaker 1: it kind of feels like it's been back and forth.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Of course, we know Josh Allen has been the favorite
- 34:17Speaker 1: for a minute now. That's kind of who people expect
- 34:19Speaker 1: to win this one. However, we also have Lamar Jackson,
- 34:24Speaker 1: who in almost every category statistically is outperforming Josh Allen
- 34:30Speaker 1: in terms of touchdown, passes, interceptions, rushing yards, all that.
- 34:34Speaker 1: And then you've got a running back in Saquon Barkley
- 34:37Speaker 1: and Joe Burrow, who you could argue if the Bengals
- 34:40Speaker 1: had a better record, he'd probably be maybe the favorite
- 34:44Speaker 1: to win MVP. I agree. So you've got Lamar Jackson,
- 34:48Speaker 1: Josh Allen, Saquon Barkley, Joe Burrow. That's like the four
- 34:52Speaker 1: I would say favorites right now to win the award.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Who would you go with if the season ended right now?
- 34:58Speaker 3: Is how I look at it now? Is you know?
- 35:00Speaker 3: I think the MVP it is like a quarterback award
- 35:08Speaker 3: because I kind of look at it.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Last year Christian McCaffrey had the crazy, one of the
- 35:13Speaker 2: craziest season. He won Offensive Player of the Year. You
- 35:16Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. So if if it's ending right now,
- 35:19Speaker 2: I'm going Lamar for sure, and then I'm not player
- 35:25Speaker 2: Officer Player of the Year, and.
- 35:26Speaker 3: We'll go say with my close.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with you. You know what's to me though,
- 35:35Speaker 1: the fact that the MVP Award MVP Award has become
- 35:39Speaker 1: a quarterback award. I don't really love. I don't love
- 35:42Speaker 1: that because just because you're not a quarterback doesn't make
- 35:44Speaker 1: you the most valuable player on your team.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Matched. I would go sayque as MVP.
- 35:48Speaker 1: But you know, okay, and that's what I was gonna say.
- 35:51Speaker 1: This would almost be the perfect season for the voters
- 35:55Speaker 1: to prove that it's not just a quarterback award by
- 35:59Speaker 1: giving it to a guy like Saquon, because he is
- 36:02Speaker 1: I mean, two thousand and five yards rushing, thirteen touchdowns.
- 36:06Speaker 1: He's had an exceptional season. So this, to me, would
- 36:10Speaker 1: be a great opportunity to give it to someone like
- 36:11Speaker 1: Saquon to prove that the MVP Award is not just
- 36:14Speaker 1: a quarterback award. But we kind of know how this
- 36:17Speaker 1: thing unfolds, and I do think personally I would I'd
- 36:20Speaker 1: be right there with you, Lamar Jackson. And if the
- 36:23Speaker 1: Bengals had a better record by like this much, I
- 36:27Speaker 1: would go ahead and say Joe Burrow, for sure, he's
- 36:30Speaker 1: had an outstanding season, so it's hard to argue with
- 36:33Speaker 1: any of that. Speaking of Saquon, let's talk about Saquon
- 36:36Speaker 1: a little bit. He rushed for one hundred and sixty
- 36:38Speaker 1: nine yards this past Sunday, moving him to the two
- 36:41Speaker 1: thousand yard club. This moves him to one hundred one
- 36:46Speaker 1: yard shy of breaking Eric Dickerson's rushing record again. A
- 36:51Speaker 1: phenomenal season debo. If you were on his team, would
- 36:54Speaker 1: you want him to go for the record this Sunday
- 36:56Speaker 1: against the Giants or no, and not play tough ones.
- 37:03Speaker 1: It's tough question.
- 37:06Speaker 3: No, I wouldn't blame. Only if he came to me
- 37:09Speaker 3: and was like, bro, I want to do this.
- 37:11Speaker 2: This is something like you know, dreamed of thought about,
- 37:14Speaker 2: you know, at the end of the day, like it's
- 37:16Speaker 2: about being first as you can, fast as you can,
- 37:18Speaker 2: and you know, basic as you can come playoffs. So
- 37:22Speaker 2: me if only if he came to me it was like, yo,
- 37:24Speaker 2: like this is what I want to do this and
- 37:26Speaker 2: the third we'll argue to go back and forth, but
- 37:28Speaker 2: I mean, what you want to do going.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we know how much you and I
- 37:35Speaker 1: have talked about on this show a lot about how
- 37:38Speaker 1: much your bodies go through in a season, and then
- 37:40Speaker 1: to make it to the super Bowl, it's an even
- 37:43Speaker 1: longer season and it can be very, very exhausting. I
- 37:45Speaker 1: think a large part of whether or not we see
- 37:47Speaker 1: Saquon play and potentially break that record is the rest
- 37:50Speaker 1: factor that is involved here is this Eagles team looks
- 37:54Speaker 1: to make a deep playoff run. The Eagles are locked
- 37:56Speaker 1: into the two seeds, so they won't get the first
- 37:58Speaker 1: round by deebo. You You've had a little bit of
- 38:01Speaker 1: everything in your career. You've had two long playoff runs,
- 38:04Speaker 1: one of which was with a first round by and
- 38:06Speaker 1: one without a BUYE. Explain the difference and the importance
- 38:10Speaker 1: of a bye. What is your pre I mean, obviously
- 38:12Speaker 1: a bye, I'm sure most people prefer, but what what
- 38:15Speaker 1: is the difference to you physically and mentally? I guess,
- 38:18Speaker 1: like you ain't got to go out there a breather.
- 38:21Speaker 1: You get to catch your breath.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Your mental your body, like, you ain't got to go
- 38:25Speaker 2: out there and you know, put your life online. You
- 38:28Speaker 2: can autch somebody else on the Sunday and you could
- 38:30Speaker 2: just you know, they're a little more beat up than
- 38:32Speaker 2: than you is when it you know, when it starts.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Yeah, well, do is there an element I've always been
- 38:40Speaker 1: curious about this? Is there an element of those bye
- 38:43Speaker 1: weeks where you feel like you have to be a
- 38:45Speaker 1: little bit careful not to lose too much of your momentum,
- 38:48Speaker 1: Like if you're a team, well yeah, but okay, but
- 38:52Speaker 1: the game, the adrenaline, isn't that a little different than
- 38:54Speaker 1: a practice?
- 38:55Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, you got to think about this
- 38:57Speaker 2: like why they give you buys there in their regular season,
- 39:00Speaker 2: you know, kind of give your body your breather.
- 39:04Speaker 1: And some teams, you guys, aren't superhero.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Some teams at the Buys not to two that horn
- 39:09Speaker 2: a little bit, but Niners. But not this year, but
- 39:12Speaker 2: years past, like that's when we play our best ball.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Mm hmmm mm hmmm mm hmmm, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. Well,
- 39:22Speaker 1: speaking of first round by, is one of the teams
- 39:24Speaker 1: that will get a first round by in the NFC
- 39:27Speaker 1: is the Lions, who you just faced, or the Vikings.
- 39:30Speaker 1: The Vikings beat the Packers twenty seven to twenty five,
- 39:33Speaker 1: so this sets up the winner take all, winner take
- 39:36Speaker 1: all game on Sunday debot. And we know just how
- 39:39Speaker 1: back and forth it's been between the Lions, the Vikings
- 39:43Speaker 1: and even the Packers have been up there in conversation.
- 39:45Speaker 1: But Deebo, talk about this matchup and what you think
- 39:48Speaker 1: we can see, well predict what we'll see against this
- 39:52Speaker 1: in this Vikings Lions showdown.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Both of them are good, both of them really good.
- 39:57Speaker 2: I know, Jefferson and Addison, you got Gibbs, Aaron Jones,
- 40:05Speaker 2: I ain't gonna know. I was talking about this. Who's
- 40:08Speaker 2: in the sona earlier at the stadium that that kid Gibbs, like,
- 40:13Speaker 2: he's like, you can't even explain it. It's just like
- 40:17Speaker 2: exciting to watch.
- 40:19Speaker 1: He's definitely, he's great. He's great.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Definitely exciting to watch.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think Lions fans were worried naturally because
- 40:28Speaker 1: of David Montgomery being injured, because they did have two
- 40:31Speaker 1: running backs that were just dominating. It's one of the
- 40:33Speaker 1: things that made the Lions such a threat. But Gibbs
- 40:36Speaker 1: is holding his own. I mean, he's doing what he
- 40:40Speaker 1: needs to do.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Get the fool speed so fast, Like it's just it's
- 40:45Speaker 2: just crazy to watch. Oh no, I think this would
- 40:47Speaker 2: be a good matchup, but I might go Vikings with
- 40:49Speaker 2: this one.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Oh Okay, do you think it's if the Lions were
- 40:55Speaker 1: in full health? Would you go Lions?
- 40:58Speaker 3: Nah?
- 40:58Speaker 1: I would go out or are you looking at.
- 41:00Speaker 2: The receivers Lions was a full head of steam?
- 41:05Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, I think this will be a really really great,
- 41:09Speaker 1: u great game. Both of these teams have just been
- 41:13Speaker 1: exceptional all season long, very very fun to watch. This
- 41:17Speaker 1: will be again this is kind of like do or die,
- 41:20Speaker 1: not really, but in order to get that that first uh,
- 41:23Speaker 1: that first round by this is a this is a
- 41:25Speaker 1: big one, super important for both of these teams. Okay, uh.
- 41:28Speaker 1: The other side of the coin in this matchup is
- 41:31Speaker 1: that the loser will be fourteen to three unless they tie,
- 41:35Speaker 1: of course, and they will end up being a fourteen
- 41:38Speaker 1: win wild card team traveling on the road to face
- 41:41Speaker 1: Tampa Bay and Tampa Tampa looks scary. Tampa has found
- 41:48Speaker 1: their momentum at like the perfect time. I mean, they've
- 41:52Speaker 1: actually been pretty great all season. They've dropped a couple
- 41:55Speaker 1: of games that they probably could have won, but they're
- 41:57Speaker 1: finding their rhythm. We just talked about Baker Mayfield and
- 41:59Speaker 1: how exceptional he is. Could we be looking at some
- 42:02Speaker 1: upsets happening in the wildcard round this year?
- 42:05Speaker 2: You could be the fact that you know, both Lions
- 42:09Speaker 2: and invitings fourteen and threes crazy crazy in the winter
- 42:16Speaker 2: n goes to the wildco Wildcard, which you.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Know, Tampa is playing really good ball right now.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Yep, yeah, it look great.
- 42:25Speaker 3: It's a scary playoffs.
- 42:27Speaker 2: You got Eagles, Eagles, Packers, Washington l A like pretty
- 42:32Speaker 2: good teams.
- 42:33Speaker 3: It's real good teams that you said.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Fourteen and three kind of crazy to even think that
- 42:40Speaker 1: a fourteen and three team could be a wildcard team. Uh,
- 42:45Speaker 1: that's kind of just part of the game. Do you
- 42:47Speaker 1: think that the NFL would ever get to the point
- 42:49Speaker 1: where they make changes so that a fourteen win team
- 42:52Speaker 1: is not going on the road or is it? Hey,
- 42:54Speaker 1: you got to win your division, and you know that's
- 42:55Speaker 1: how it works.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Your division is how worked, pero it.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Yeah, we can't get we can't get too soft around here,
- 43:03Speaker 1: all right, you know what I mean, You know, gotta
- 43:05Speaker 1: keep gotta keep things competitive. Winning your division absolutely matters. Okay,
- 43:10Speaker 1: let's look at the current playoff bracket ahead of Week eighteen.
- 43:14Speaker 1: We still have some matchups and some scenarios to figure
- 43:17Speaker 1: out here. But heading into this Sunday, are there any
- 43:20Speaker 1: matchups that catch your eye? And and yeah, who do
- 43:24Speaker 1: you do you have any teams?
- 43:27Speaker 3: I'm going both sides on this.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Yeah, both sides. You could just say, like who you
- 43:32Speaker 1: or you could just say, hey, here's here's some sleeper teams.
- 43:36Speaker 1: I've gotten the NFC and sleeper teams I've gotten the AFC.
- 43:38Speaker 1: But yeah, I would say just.
- 43:41Speaker 3: I'm trying to figure fill out this bracket.
- 43:45Speaker 1: All right.
- 43:49Speaker 2: We're gonna start with Eagles Packers.
- 43:54Speaker 1: That's a tough one. I hate that he started with
- 43:57Speaker 1: the hardest one.
- 43:59Speaker 3: I'm going Eagles. You look at l a bro I'm
- 44:01Speaker 3: going I'm going Eagles with this one.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Okay, like it.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Washington, Rams, I'm going to Washington. So agreed, Vikings.
- 44:14Speaker 3: Tampa. I'm going to Tampa.
- 44:18Speaker 1: So I agree. I agree.
- 44:22Speaker 2: So Detroit would pay Tampa, right, Yeah, that's how it works.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Detroit played Tampa, Rams would play Eagles.
- 44:32Speaker 1: No, you said commanders. Commanders would play Eagles.
- 44:35Speaker 3: No, I said the Rams would be the commanders.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Oh see, I disagree with you. So we disagree on
- 44:41Speaker 1: that one.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, we got Eagles.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Yeah we do.
- 44:47Speaker 4: La.
- 44:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna go Eagles. Yeah, Tampa, Detroit, I'm gonna go Detroit. Okay,
- 44:58Speaker 2: Detroit Eagles. I'm going Eagles. Bill's Denver, sorry, Bills.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Uh, Baltimore do you hate me?
- 45:13Speaker 1: That's what this is.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Baltimore Chargers, That's fine.
- 45:16Speaker 1: I would I would actually pick the Bills too, So
- 45:19Speaker 1: I'll just.
- 45:21Speaker 2: I'm going Baltimore and then Houston Pittsburgh. I'm going to Houston.
- 45:28Speaker 3: My boys. Z's back in action. So we got Houston
- 45:33Speaker 3: and Kins City and Buffalo and Lamore and the Boys.
- 45:41Speaker 2: I'm going Baltimore. Okay, I'm going Baltimore. I'm going Chiefs.
- 45:49Speaker 2: So Chiefs in Baltimore, I'm going Baltimore.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Eagles. I got the more winning, the boldest year.
- 45:57Speaker 1: I love it, Okay the only time. The only place
- 46:00Speaker 1: I disagree is I would have the Steelers beating the
- 46:03Speaker 1: Texans and then I would have the Steelers upsetting the Chiefs.
- 46:07Speaker 3: Cool.
- 46:09Speaker 1: That's wishful thinking mostly, but I really also just love
- 46:14Speaker 1: Mike Tomlin and I am hoping that the Steelers can
- 46:17Speaker 1: get it done. So for the most part, we agree.
- 46:20Speaker 4: I have.
- 46:23Speaker 1: I would really love to see the Eagles win it
- 46:25Speaker 1: all this year, for being completely honest, so I would
- 46:28Speaker 1: probably pick like an Eagles Ravens Super Bowl. And oh
- 46:34Speaker 1: that's tough. I love both of those teams, so I
- 46:36Speaker 1: don't really know, but we'll just to be different. I'll
- 46:39Speaker 1: say Eagles and you say Ravens. Oooh yeah, okay, well
- 46:43Speaker 1: there we go.
- 46:44Speaker 3: Boo.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Yeah it's done. Now, College football Debo, you did have
- 46:48Speaker 1: some college football picks that we already talked about. But
- 46:52Speaker 1: before we get into that, did you see the backlash
- 46:54Speaker 1: cam Ward got over the weekend?
- 46:57Speaker 3: I didn't. I just read about this whole scenario.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Yeah, so Heisman finalist, potential first overall pick played in
- 47:05Speaker 1: the first half of the Pop Tart Bowl ooh yum,
- 47:10Speaker 1: and got the record for most touchdowns, but then sat
- 47:12Speaker 1: out in the second half. Miami ended up losing a
- 47:15Speaker 1: close game forty one, and people were all over him
- 47:19Speaker 1: for his decision. What do you think about his decision?
- 47:22Speaker 3: You know, on get in the midst of all this,
- 47:25Speaker 3: you know, massy shit whatever. But uh uh, at the
- 47:29Speaker 3: end of the.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Day, kind of put myself in a situation because I
- 47:35Speaker 2: set out the bowl game my college career. I set
- 47:40Speaker 2: out because you know, I dealt with so many injuries
- 47:42Speaker 2: early on this, that and the third and you know
- 47:43Speaker 2: I finally got to, you know, be where I wanted
- 47:46Speaker 2: to be, and so I was just you know, I
- 47:47Speaker 2: had the decision with coach Musch, Champion, my receiver, coach
- 47:51Speaker 2: Brian and Mclinton, and you know they kind of understood
- 47:54Speaker 2: like my purpose of that. But at the end of
- 47:57Speaker 2: the day, if I'm going out there to play, I'm
- 47:59Speaker 2: going out to play. I'm play the whole game. I'm
- 48:00Speaker 2: just not gonna you know.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Go out there and be like, all right, I did this,
- 48:04Speaker 3: I'm done so that's just me.
- 48:07Speaker 2: But who knows, you know, what they communicated on the end,
- 48:13Speaker 2: you know, we never know the backstory of you know,
- 48:15Speaker 2: how he went about communicating with his coaches and you know,
- 48:18Speaker 2: the higher up. So at the end of the day,
- 48:20Speaker 2: it's it's not my not my partner to speak on
- 48:23Speaker 2: like the decision that he made just that and the
- 48:25Speaker 2: third But hopefully that doesn't you know, throw a red
- 48:29Speaker 2: flag or anything to the you know, the league or whatnot,
- 48:32Speaker 2: because at the end of the day, we don't know
- 48:34Speaker 2: what they communicated and you know how they went about
- 48:36Speaker 2: that for sure, Right.
- 48:39Speaker 1: I think everything with stuff like that is very circumstantial
- 48:42Speaker 1: and it's personal to the player and to the even
- 48:45Speaker 1: the coaches. The coaches may be the ones that are like, hey,
- 48:48Speaker 1: we we let you play that first half, but we
- 48:51Speaker 1: really suggest you take it easier. We just like you said,
- 48:54Speaker 1: we never know the back end of those conversations, so
- 48:57Speaker 1: it's not really fair for us to cast any judgment. Okay, debo,
- 49:01Speaker 1: last game of the season and then I'll let you go.
- 49:03Speaker 1: All right. I know it's New Year's Eve. I know
- 49:06Speaker 1: you're sick of me, too bad. I'm following you into
- 49:09Speaker 1: twenty twenty five sucks to suck. Okay, last game of
- 49:12Speaker 1: the season coming up this Sunday against the Cardinals. What
- 49:16Speaker 1: are your thoughts heading into the final game this year?
- 49:19Speaker 3: Let's just get a win, get a win.
- 49:23Speaker 1: I agree. I like that short and sweet. He's ready
- 49:26Speaker 1: to go. He's like, all right, cut it, no it is,
- 49:30Speaker 1: do you uh? I guess before we get into twenty
- 49:34Speaker 1: twenty five, we're gonna get non football for a second.
- 49:38Speaker 1: What I know, they're very cliche, the whole resolution blah
- 49:41Speaker 1: blah blah. What is some way that debo wants to

- 50:40Speaker 1: play football every weekend and my body's starting to feel
- 50:42Speaker 1: a little old. So I was just hoping we were
- 50:43Speaker 1: on the same page there, but as it turns out,
