Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: With Stu Gotts and Hawkman.
- 0:02Speaker 2: This is a very special addition of with Stu Gotts
- 0:06Speaker 2: and Hawkman. Yes, for several reasons. First of all, it's
- 0:11Speaker 2: themed around a holiday.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We have not yet done that.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Now we have our first themed around a holiday podcast.
- 0:19Speaker 3: But you, as a radio guy, love holiday themes, don't you.
- 0:23Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, everything into something.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Yes.
- 0:27Speaker 2: So Mother's Day is Sunday, and really I had kind
- 0:32Speaker 2: of like gone through the archives. I don't really have
- 0:35Speaker 2: much in the way of Mother's Day, and Stu gott said, oh,
- 0:39Speaker 2: you want to know about Mother's Day and do something special.
- 0:43Speaker 2: There's something that happened on the Levatar Show after I
- 0:46Speaker 2: left that you'll get a kick out of because it's
- 0:49Speaker 2: Stu Gotts in his greatest shape and form or worst.
- 0:55Speaker 4: I mean, some would say, well.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I'm going to hear this for the first time. I'm
- 1:01Speaker 2: guessing with some of the listeners to the podcast as well.
- 1:04Speaker 2: I will tell you, you know, I always say you can
- 1:07Speaker 2: DM me on Instagram. It's Radio Mark Hawkman on Instagram.
- 1:11Speaker 2: DM me your thoughts on the podcast or whatever. And
- 1:15Speaker 2: someone sent in a DM It said, when people message
- 1:19Speaker 2: you to say that they started listening to the Dan
- 1:22Speaker 2: Lebottard Show with Stu Gotts after you left the show,
- 1:26Speaker 2: I feel like I'm meeting someone who has only watched
- 1:29Speaker 2: The Simpsons after season eight.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I mean, seriously, what the hell?
- 1:35Speaker 2: And there is a lot of backstory to things that
- 1:37Speaker 2: have happened on the show. But when I did leave
- 1:40Speaker 2: the show, I really I see clips and stuff on
- 1:45Speaker 2: social media, but I haven't listened, and so this stuff
- 1:50Speaker 2: that I'm gonna hear, this is stuff that I think
- 1:52Speaker 2: a lot of Levatard Show listeners know and love that
- 1:55Speaker 2: I'm gonna hear for the first time, I asked this, seriously,
- 1:58Speaker 2: I've never asked you this before. Or was it difficult
- 2:01Speaker 2: for you to listen to the show that you were on, Like,
- 2:04Speaker 2: because we talked to Geo about this he was let go,
- 2:07Speaker 2: not Geo. He talked to Salvacata about this because he
- 2:09Speaker 2: was let go from WFAN and he has a hard
- 2:12Speaker 2: time listening to the people who replaced him on WFAN.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Do you have any of that because I haven't listened
- 2:18Speaker 2: to Lebitzard in a year. I mean, yeah, so when
- 2:21Speaker 2: I left, it was still I was still on very
- 2:23Speaker 2: good terms with everybody. I'm just doing mornings with Zaslow.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I mean, I was not on great terms with Dan.
- 2:28Speaker 2: It was part of the reason that I ended up
- 2:30Speaker 2: going to mornings, because we were starting to have a
- 2:31Speaker 2: little schism, but we were on talking terms and texting terms.
- 2:36Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm not a sports radio junkie, right, And
- 2:41Speaker 2: so I found it easier for myself, not that it
- 2:44Speaker 2: was sports radio, but I found it easier just not
- 2:46Speaker 2: to listen because I didn't want to get into this
- 2:49Speaker 2: habit of doing mornings with Zaslow. And then I would
- 2:52Speaker 2: hear something on the show, and then I would call
- 2:54Speaker 2: Mike and say, hey, there's a really good sound that
- 2:56Speaker 2: you can find if you look at the archives. Like
- 2:58Speaker 2: I kind of wanted to remove my self from it,
- 3:01Speaker 2: and if you think constantly that you're part of the show,
- 3:05Speaker 2: it's hard to do that. So I pretty much stopped listening,
- 3:07Speaker 2: and then it was just easier to go about my
- 3:10Speaker 2: day without We.
- 3:12Speaker 3: We are so similar because I do that until this day,
- 3:15Speaker 3: I would do that to any radio show.
- 3:17Speaker 4: I just listen.
- 3:18Speaker 3: I text random producers in the industry saying, hey, you
- 3:21Speaker 3: could have done this better.
- 3:22Speaker 2: You know you gotta like So I used to look
- 3:25Speaker 2: at radio that way, and the stations that I worked at.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I would always be like, Hey, we got to do this,
- 3:30Speaker 2: we got to do that. And I have such a
- 3:32Speaker 2: new attitude over the last I don't know, probably five years,
- 3:36Speaker 2: which is I have a little kiosk in the mall.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Radio is the mall.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I worry about my kiosk. I don't give a
- 3:48Speaker 2: shit what's going on in Clayer's. If they're doing piercing's wrong.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I don't give a fuck if the window display at Amber,
- 3:57Speaker 2: Crombie and Fitch is all fucked up. I got my
- 4:01Speaker 2: little kiosk in the mall and walk in for a cookie.
- 4:05Speaker 2: You're gonna get a delicious cookie. This is gonna have
- 4:07Speaker 2: a great time, and you're gonna come back. The whole
- 4:10Speaker 2: mall can be burning down. I'm worried about my kiosk.
- 4:15Speaker 5: So I'm definitely guilty of this because I text Hawk
- 4:17Speaker 5: all the time during his show.
- 4:19Speaker 1: But the only time I.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Text shows on at the same time. No, it's not.
- 4:24Speaker 1: There's Taylor text me.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I love when people text me during the show because
- 4:28Speaker 2: people do genuinely give good feedback, like instant feedback.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Yes see, I would text you if I weren't doing
- 4:34Speaker 3: my own show.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Now there's there's an overlap of an hour on both ends.
- 4:40Speaker 5: There they are a four hour show where a two
- 4:41Speaker 5: hour show. And the only time I really text Hawk
- 4:44Speaker 5: is when I have to call out Solana on his BS,
- 4:47Speaker 5: because there was one recently where he was he was
- 4:51Speaker 5: ranting and raving about how the crew toons at Carbone
- 4:54Speaker 5: are to die for. I said, houck, if I went
- 4:57Speaker 5: to Public's right now and just bought Public branded crutons,
- 5:01Speaker 5: I'm telling you Solona would not be able to tell
- 5:03Speaker 5: the difference.
- 5:06Speaker 4: I think of our phone came up on our show.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I think I was talking about the crewtons at Calaveras
- 5:12Speaker 2: Cantina in Meisner Park, Like, which are cornbread crewtons?
- 5:17Speaker 4: I've had them, Yes, fucking great bread crewons.
- 5:21Speaker 1: They had crew toons.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Yeah, figured it out, I know, so Hawk. I thought
- 5:26Speaker 4: it'd be fun.
- 5:27Speaker 3: We thought it'd be fun because you're in print, by
- 5:30Speaker 3: the way, So when people reach out to you saying
- 5:32Speaker 3: they missed the first six years, like they missed some
- 5:35Speaker 3: of the best, you know, maybe the best five or
- 5:38Speaker 3: six year runner the show, Like us putting that show
- 5:40Speaker 3: together from scratch was some of the best radio I've
- 5:43Speaker 3: ever done. And I feel bad for the people who
- 5:46Speaker 3: missed your error. You know what I'm saying.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I'm a student of radio, and I'm not so humble
- 5:52Speaker 2: that I wouldn't say we had over the course of
- 5:55Speaker 2: the eight years that I was there, we had two
- 5:58Speaker 2: or three years of some of the best radio that
- 6:00Speaker 2: has ever been put out in the nation period.
- 6:03Speaker 1: End of story. I'm a student of radio. Listen, you
- 6:07Speaker 1: know when something's working.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I imagine a musician knows when a concert's working, or
- 6:12Speaker 2: when an album came together perfectly. And we had a
- 6:15Speaker 2: few years that I would put up against some of
- 6:17Speaker 2: the top eras of radio anywhere. I'll read you a
- 6:22Speaker 2: couple more dms. I'm twenty seven years old. Never listened
- 6:25Speaker 2: to the Dan LeBatard Show. Don't even live in South Florida.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I'm a Dolphins fan that lives in California and have
- 6:32Speaker 2: been listening to your radio show for years now. But Man,
- 6:37Speaker 2: this podcast you're doing with Stu Gotts, this fucking Steven
- 6:41Speaker 2: Sigall episode has me crying. The machine gun sound made
- 6:45Speaker 2: me spit out my water. I love everything about it.
- 6:49Speaker 2: So there's a person who never listened to the Dan
- 6:52Speaker 2: LeBatard Show but is listening to this podcast because I've
- 6:56Speaker 2: promoted it on the air a few times, and so
- 6:59Speaker 2: he's being expo to the Levotard Show for the first
- 7:02Speaker 2: time ever, which I think is super cool.
- 7:06Speaker 1: There's one other one here.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Hey, hawk loved the episodes of with Stu Gotts and Hawkman.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I was a Dan Levatard Show listener since shortly after
- 7:15Speaker 2: the move to Meadow Lark, and I've joined team Stu
- 7:18Speaker 2: Gotts since the split. I think it's great that you've
- 7:21Speaker 2: got such an archive to dwell upon, and you guys
- 7:24Speaker 2: do a great and funny job relaying the stories. I
- 7:27Speaker 2: do not come to request a segment, but instead to
- 7:30Speaker 2: suggest a nickname for the end of show quiz, which
- 7:33Speaker 2: I'm gonna jump ahead here and just see if you
- 7:35Speaker 2: can knock out this nickname, Stu Gotts, just to see
- 7:37Speaker 2: if you've got it today.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Paul Mollder, Oh wow, Man.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Played for the Brewers, played for the Blue Jays.
- 7:48Speaker 4: What a world series with the Blue Jays. I'm not
- 7:51Speaker 4: going to know this one.
- 7:52Speaker 1: This is I was unaware of this as well.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Yeah, he's too boring to have a nickname, Paul Mollander.
- 7:58Speaker 3: He was a great player, but boring.
- 8:00Speaker 4: I mean, well, I.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Don't know how because he's boring. His nickname is the
- 8:04Speaker 2: igniter really.
- 8:07Speaker 4: A good nickname for boring guy.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Yes, the guy stumped you there? That was good.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Well, he could ignite many many beginnings, you know, that's
- 8:15Speaker 4: what he did. Yes.
- 8:16Speaker 2: By the way, before we get to your mother's day
- 8:19Speaker 2: reservations here which I haven't heard right, If you're looking
- 8:22Speaker 2: for a good mother's day spot, Buddha from Burton Max's
- 8:27Speaker 2: has been a very good sponsor since the inception of
- 8:29Speaker 2: our podcast here. Burton max Is in Delray Beach, West
- 8:33Speaker 2: Delray is a perfect spot Sunday for Mother's Day. It'll
- 8:37Speaker 2: be crowded for sure, but there's going to be room
- 8:39Speaker 2: for you if you're looking for a good spot for
- 8:41Speaker 2: the family and for mom. And they have a great
- 8:45Speaker 2: food at Burton Max's and you can get that Aperol
- 8:48Speaker 2: Sprits there, which for me is a mother's day must,
- 8:52Speaker 2: I mean, the time of your life.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Burton max Is in Delray Beach.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I was just there over the weekend with my wife
- 8:59Speaker 3: and with my dad at fantastic spot.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Really a great spot.
- 9:03Speaker 3: It is a great mother's day spot because there's so
- 9:06Speaker 3: much around there.
- 9:06Speaker 4: You can just kind of walk around with mom.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Sit down, have a drink, and then get yourself some
- 9:12Speaker 3: dinner and just ask for Buddha. Tell them we sent you.
- 9:14Speaker 3: I wanted to use a gift card, but I went
- 9:16Speaker 3: with my dad. But I told Buddha, you hogged them all.
- 9:18Speaker 4: I mean that.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I need some new ones, Buddha. I think I'm ready
- 9:24Speaker 2: for a refresh.
- 9:25Speaker 3: All right, So, speaking of restaurants, Hawk, after you left
- 9:28Speaker 3: the show, your imprint is all over the show at
- 9:31Speaker 3: this point, okay, And it continues to be all over
- 9:34Speaker 3: the radio show for at least as long as I
- 9:36Speaker 3: was doing it, and perhaps I'll do it again sometime
- 9:38Speaker 3: we'll sit.
- 9:40Speaker 4: But your imprint is all over the show.
- 9:42Speaker 3: And so we're always trying to think of funny, clever,
- 9:45Speaker 3: different ideas. Doesn't necessarily have to be sports. And I'm
- 9:49Speaker 3: telling Leviatory now, I know Taylor wanted to bring a
- 9:52Speaker 3: conversation that we recently had in an elevator at the
- 9:55Speaker 3: radio station and somehow tie it to these reservations. I'm
- 9:58Speaker 3: not exactly sure he was thinking there, because I don't
- 10:02Speaker 3: see the tie in. So let's go to Taylor first
- 10:03Speaker 3: before I introduces a recurrent radio station that yeah, yeah,
- 10:07Speaker 3: we had, we had some sort of thing conversation inside
- 10:10Speaker 3: an elevator with a lady who had shingles.
- 10:13Speaker 5: Taylor, go ahead, Yeah, that was more to just show
- 10:17Speaker 5: that Stu Gotts is a first ballot GAB Hall of Famer.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Yes, how can you strike me as somebody?
- 10:24Speaker 5: If you get in an elevator with somebody, you're gonna
- 10:25Speaker 5: you're gonna strike up a conversation.
- 10:28Speaker 3: I might be that guy. Yeah, I am that guy.
- 10:31Speaker 3: You are that you might be that guy. I learned
- 10:33Speaker 3: it from you.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I'm the I'm the can I carry your bags for you?
- 10:36Speaker 4: Guy?
- 10:37Speaker 1: I'm so overly like gross and helpful.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Yes to the old, yes to the elderly, but not.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Even like I literally because we'll walk around Delray Beach
- 10:48Speaker 2: speaking of Buddha, and we'll walk around Delray Beach a lot.
- 10:51Speaker 1: My wife and I are downtown Boca.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I am always on the prowl for groups who are
- 10:57Speaker 2: trying to take a photo of themselves. That's my superpower.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I sweep in like a superhero. Would you like a picture.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Of all of you? Yes, that's right.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Oh I do that even if people aren't taking a
- 11:08Speaker 2: picture and I just see they're having a nice lunch together.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Would you guys like a picture of all of you, Taylor.
- 11:14Speaker 4: He's not kidding, you know.
- 11:16Speaker 3: They sit there, they say, Hey, don't you wish our
- 11:18Speaker 3: some was like that? Don't you wish we had a
- 11:20Speaker 3: grandson like him. That's what he does. That's what he's
- 11:21Speaker 3: going for. By the way, he wants to make their
- 11:24Speaker 3: sons look terrible.
- 11:25Speaker 5: I mean it's great, but if somebody says, how are
- 11:28Speaker 5: you doing, what you can't do is bring something negative
- 11:32Speaker 5: from your life to a stranger. We get in this
- 11:35Speaker 5: elevator and two older women. Stu gott says, how are
- 11:39Speaker 5: you How are you two doing? One looks at Stu
- 11:41Speaker 5: Gottson goes not good. Just found out I may have
- 11:44Speaker 5: shingles in my eye.
- 11:45Speaker 3: M h.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Steve gotts looks back at her and he goes, well
- 11:50Speaker 5: you may not too.
- 11:53Speaker 4: A positive sign, I mean, a great response.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Thank you. That literally is the Ape plus response.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Then I held the elevator door for her, I held
- 12:06Speaker 3: every door for her, and I said, hey, hang in there,
- 12:08Speaker 3: you know, close your eyes, let me walk you to
- 12:11Speaker 3: where you're going. Taylor brings that up because of my
- 12:14Speaker 3: ability just to be chummy on the fly and respond
- 12:17Speaker 3: on the fly and be very quick, and so I
- 12:20Speaker 3: was telling Dan that there were times Hockey after you
- 12:22Speaker 3: left where I would get pulled over on my way
- 12:26Speaker 3: down to do the radio show, and I would use
- 12:28Speaker 3: Lebotard's name to get out of tickets, because the cops
- 12:31Speaker 3: down in Miami they loved LeBatard. They knew that name,
- 12:35Speaker 3: and I would use his name to get out of tickets.
- 12:37Speaker 3: But I also told him the other spot where I
- 12:40Speaker 3: used his name was to help me get into, you know,
- 12:44Speaker 3: very expensive and very popular restaurants.
- 12:48Speaker 4: He was unaware of this.
- 12:49Speaker 3: But if I called Joe's and I need to drop
- 12:51Speaker 3: a LeBatard and I need a table of Ford eight
- 12:54Speaker 3: o'clock on Valentine's Day, if I have to, if I
- 12:57Speaker 3: feel like I need to, I will drop Dan's name
- 12:59Speaker 3: because Dan's name carries weight in Miami, certainly on South Beach.
- 13:03Speaker 2: You would agree with, By the way, Yeah, to me
- 13:06Speaker 2: use everything in your arsenal, everybody else does.
- 13:09Speaker 4: Yes, Yes, I got to have a.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Governor on my arsenal when it's in my arsenal.
- 13:15Speaker 3: So I told Dan that I make restaurant reservations and
- 13:20Speaker 3: they're very important to me, and getting the right time
- 13:23Speaker 3: and the amount of people and all that stuff. The
- 13:25Speaker 3: time is really important. You got to sit prime time
- 13:28Speaker 3: at a big time restaurant. And so I told Lebatar
- 13:31Speaker 3: that I would do whatever I have to do. When
- 13:33Speaker 3: I'm on the phone with someone trying to get a
- 13:34Speaker 3: dinner reservation, I will drop any name I need to drop.
- 13:37Speaker 3: I don't care whose it is. And Dan said, you're gross,
- 13:40Speaker 3: but I'd like to hear it all radio. And so
- 13:43Speaker 3: from there, Me, Mike and Billy Hacks the idea that
- 13:47Speaker 3: during busy times of the year for these restaurants, Mother's Day,
- 13:52Speaker 3: Valentine's Day, we would go to certain cities and find
- 13:56Speaker 3: the most popular spots in those cities and make a
- 13:59Speaker 3: last minute reservation.
- 14:01Speaker 1: This is Mother's bit.
- 14:03Speaker 2: By the way, speaking is like a longtime fan of
- 14:06Speaker 2: radio and longtime producer for the DLS experience. This is
- 14:11Speaker 2: a great bit because this is your wheelhouse. I mean,
- 14:15Speaker 2: you're getting to showcase your skills. This is like asking
- 14:18Speaker 2: Vince Carter to put on a dunking display. You know
- 14:21Speaker 2: what I mean, Like you are showcasing your skills.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Yes, this is me doing a windmill dunk. So the
- 14:29Speaker 3: first we have two for you, Hawk. I think you're
- 14:31Speaker 3: going to enjoy these. The first one Taylor, Where which
- 14:34Speaker 3: reservation did you choose?
- 14:35Speaker 4: Here from mother's death.
- 14:36Speaker 5: The first call is going to come from Cookshop on
- 14:39Speaker 5: Tenth Avenue in New York City.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Okay, so real quick before we play it, Mike, Alison
- 14:44Speaker 3: Billy would research the market that I wanted them to research,
- 14:47Speaker 3: find the toughest places to go, uh, and then they
- 14:50Speaker 3: would give you the number we would call. Mike would
- 14:52Speaker 3: roll now, but we didn't learn before the first one.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Hawk is when we were done with these, we actually
- 14:58Speaker 3: had to get the rest of permission to air those, right, yeah, right, yes, yes,
- 15:04Speaker 3: we had to get their permission.
- 15:05Speaker 2: So, Hey, by the way, just outside of the radio bits,
- 15:09Speaker 2: in real life, what do you think you're batting in
- 15:12Speaker 2: getting reservations for restaurants that are tough to get resi's
- 15:16Speaker 2: and you, you know, being able to get that base
- 15:19Speaker 2: knock when you need.
- 15:20Speaker 4: One, never lost, You're batting a thousand. He's a little
- 15:25Speaker 4: bis riahs.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Especially as we got like the longer we were at
- 15:34Speaker 3: ESPN and the more the show grew in popularity, it
- 15:37Speaker 3: became easier and easier for me to get reservations wherever
- 15:40Speaker 3: I wanted. Your superpower was growing. My superpower was, Hey,
- 15:45Speaker 3: I'm on ESPN News.
- 15:47Speaker 4: I mean me, I'm the guy you see in the
- 15:50Speaker 4: airport when you're walking to your gate. God I missed that.
- 15:54Speaker 3: So anyway, this is tenth a half and you cook
- 15:56Speaker 3: Shop in New York City tailor?
- 15:59Speaker 4: Is that right? And this is right before Mother's Day?
- 16:01Speaker 4: So play it too? Hi? What's your name?
- 16:08Speaker 6: Vanessa?
- 16:09Speaker 4: Hey Vanessa?
- 16:09Speaker 6: How are you? I?
- 16:11Speaker 3: I'm doing well, I mean not so well, but hopefully
- 16:14Speaker 3: after this phone call, I'll be doing a lot better.
- 16:16Speaker 5: Oh hopefully.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Wow, the pressure is on now, well, all the pressure's
- 16:19Speaker 3: on both of us.
- 16:20Speaker 4: I gotta tell you.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Tenth Avenue Cookshop is my wife and my mom's favorite restaurant.
- 16:25Speaker 4: My mom lives Upper East Side.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Me and my wife are dad in Florida, but we're
- 16:28Speaker 3: going up to New York for the big day this Sunday,
- 16:30Speaker 3: Mother's Day, and so cook Shop is my mom's favorite restaurant.
- 16:34Speaker 4: It's also the.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Place that me and my wife got engaged, and we
- 16:38Speaker 3: spent our first Mother's Day there, and so all big
- 16:41Speaker 3: occasions we have at the cook Shop, you know, we
- 16:43Speaker 3: cook it up there. And so my wife told me
- 16:45Speaker 3: like six months ago, Hey make a reservation Tenth Avenue
- 16:49Speaker 3: cook shop for Mother's Day, and I made all the
- 16:52Speaker 3: other play I got play tickets, I got plane tickets,
- 16:55Speaker 3: I got I have hotel.
- 16:56Speaker 4: I know.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Can you believe it? I forgot to call you, guys.
- 16:59Speaker 3: She does six months as a coach.
- 17:00Speaker 6: You told me, so I'm going to be honest with you.
- 17:02Speaker 4: For Mother's Day, we're all booked up, especially for brush.
- 17:06Speaker 4: It's too bad. Is it a party of what size? Yeah,
- 17:10Speaker 4: it's a party of six. So fortunately, because of Mother's Day,
- 17:13Speaker 4: the holiday, we're not doing parties.
- 17:15Speaker 1: No lodge.
- 17:15Speaker 3: It in four and I didn't want to go to this,
- 17:18Speaker 3: but now I have to because desperate times call for
- 17:21Speaker 3: desperate measures. And I understand, and I I am. I've
- 17:24Speaker 3: never been more desperate my entire life.
- 17:26Speaker 4: I know, I get it. And so here's the deal.
- 17:28Speaker 3: I host the biggest sports radio show in America. It's
- 17:33Speaker 3: it's also simulcast on TV on ESPN News. We were
- 17:37Speaker 3: just named the biggest radio show in the history of radio. Okay,
- 17:41Speaker 3: what I have the ability to do? If you want
- 17:42Speaker 3: to talk to a manager and owner, I could speak
- 17:43Speaker 3: to him. Yeah, is I have the I will in
- 17:46Speaker 3: exchange for this great reservation, I will promote you guys,

- 17:59Speaker 3: but I need I'm telling you what I need, though,

- 18:04Speaker 3: with all the information you can tell your manager. Okay, Yes,
- 18:07Speaker 3: it's me, it's my wife. It's Mark Messier, the Messiah.

- 18:14Speaker 3: the Messiah is coming and chet messing.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Have you heard?
- 18:18Speaker 3: He was the New York Arrows indoor goalkeeper, soccer back
- 18:22Speaker 3: of the eighties, amazing head of hair.
- 18:24Speaker 4: Okay. And then it's my mom and dad.
- 18:27Speaker 3: So if you need to, like, you know, cut out
- 18:29Speaker 3: two people in that equation and you can get rid
- 18:32Speaker 3: of my mom and my wife. Right, But really, I
- 18:35Speaker 3: give you eight. And then if you want to talk
- 18:37Speaker 3: to your manager, that'd be great, but I need it.

- 25:16Speaker 4: where's the next one from?
- 25:18Speaker 5: So the second call, the names of the worker and
- 25:21Speaker 5: the restaurant have been redacted. They didn't want this going
- 25:24Speaker 5: out over the air so hot.
- 25:26Speaker 3: They agreed to let us air it. They didn't want
- 25:28Speaker 3: their names or the name of the restaurant to be
- 25:30Speaker 3: promoted right in the reservation.
- 25:32Speaker 5: Yes, but it's a high established restaurant in Boston.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Yes, all right, So this is Boston Mother's Day.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I believe there's a big Celtics game that day, and

- 25:47Speaker 1: Amazing to try.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Now I knew of this place because I went to
- 25:49Speaker 3: school in Wistern, Massachusetts, and I am telling you there
- 25:52Speaker 3: were five hour waits on days where it's not Mother's Day.
- 25:55Speaker 4: All right, this place is crazy. So Taylor play.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Good morning.

- 26:57Speaker 4: Save pokes him in the eye. They will You know
- 27:00Speaker 4: what you are right?
- 27:01Speaker 3: Because everyone thinks the Cavs are gonna win. But if
- 27:02Speaker 3: someone pokes Lebron in the eye, then that's it. That
- 27:05Speaker 3: changes the entire series, and then the Celtics win in five.

- 30:12Speaker 4: Okay, So I can do I can do twelve thirty.
- 30:15Speaker 5: Unless you wanted to come, Unless you wanted to come earlier, I.
- 30:18Speaker 4: Could sit you in.
- 30:19Speaker 3: No, twelve thirty is that's prime time? Maybe twelve thirty
- 30:22Speaker 3: is perfect. It flows right into the Seas game. But
- 30:25Speaker 3: you go on the Celtics game.
- 30:26Speaker 6: By the way, No, I'll be here until seven o'clock.
- 30:29Speaker 4: Are you well?
- 30:30Speaker 3: I mean, how about this Bloodsoe? He's made himself the
- 30:32Speaker 3: entire story. Hire you seeing this where Drew Bledsoe has
- 30:34Speaker 3: become the entire story. It's about the Celtics, not about Bloodsoe.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Right, I know, I know. Has he been to the
- 30:39Speaker 4: restaurant before? Bloodsoe?
- 30:41Speaker 6: No, not that I'm aware.
- 30:43Speaker 4: What about Scary Terry? Okay, how about Rogier.
- 30:46Speaker 6: Is he ever work here for like an hour?
- 30:47Speaker 3: Oh? Okay, so listen, here's the deal. Yeah, if we
- 30:49Speaker 3: could do eight at twelve thirty, that's perfect. And as
- 30:52Speaker 3: long as you guys are okay with this, So I'm
- 30:54Speaker 3: gonna you know, when Yukolas comes, he's the Greek god
- 30:56Speaker 3: of walks. He just likes to walk around the restaurant
- 30:59Speaker 3: and he hands out single roses to all the moms
- 31:01Speaker 3: at the restaurant.
- 31:02Speaker 4: Are you cooling that? That's why they call him the
- 31:03Speaker 4: Greek god of walks. He likes to walk around restaurants
- 31:05Speaker 4: he hands out roses.
- 31:07Speaker 5: I mean, I don't I don't see a problem with that.
- 31:09Speaker 3: I would have to just double check.
- 31:12Speaker 6: I mean I don't know why that would be in
- 31:13Speaker 6: the shoe.
- 31:14Speaker 4: I mean we hand out roses.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Well, oh you guys, what a nice touch to have
- 31:18Speaker 3: Yuki hand them out though, right, I can't take your
- 31:20Speaker 3: roses touch.
- 31:21Speaker 4: I could do that for you, That's what I'm saying.
- 31:23Speaker 3: And Trot, That's why I call him Trot, by the way,
- 31:25Speaker 3: he trots around the restaurant and he just hands out roses.
- 31:27Speaker 3: So I'll have Yuki walk around and I'll have Nixon
- 31:30Speaker 3: trot around and they'll both be handing out roses to
- 31:33Speaker 3: all the moms.
- 31:34Speaker 4: That's perfect.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Oh that's so great.
- 31:37Speaker 4: What are you think's going on with Brady? By the way,
- 31:38Speaker 4: waiting's gonna happen there, Brady. I like talking sports. That's
- 31:41Speaker 4: what I do for a little What do you think
- 31:42Speaker 4: about Brady?
- 31:44Speaker 6: Nothing? Really?
- 31:44Speaker 4: Well, you don't like him? I said you? You know,
- 31:46Speaker 4: are you from that area? Listen, this is our secret.
- 31:49Speaker 4: Do you not like Tom Brady? I'm fine, I'm fine,
- 31:53Speaker 4: Tom Brady. I know you're busy. You're busy your business.
- 31:55Speaker 6: I'm going to confirm your reservation.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Now.
- 31:56Speaker 4: I'm assuming you're going to be here. I need a
- 31:59Speaker 4: phone number to put on five. Yeah, no problem. I
- 32:01Speaker 4: am notoriously great at commitment.
- 32:03Speaker 3: But let me let me get you this. This phone
- 32:05Speaker 3: number here, I want to give you the right number.
- 32:07Speaker 3: It is nine to five four t r okay, t
- 32:13Speaker 3: ya z. I mix Trott and Yas. They're my two
- 32:16Speaker 3: favorite Boston athletes. That's how I do it.
- 32:18Speaker 4: All right.
- 32:18Speaker 3: So we're gonna be there twelve thirty. We're really looking
- 32:20Speaker 3: forward to it again. I got engaged there. This means
- 32:23Speaker 3: the world to me. So this is this is unbelievable,
- 32:25Speaker 3: and my wife is very excited. I'm assuming it's you know,
- 32:27Speaker 3: I'm bringing all these people and it's comped.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, all right, so listen anyway, thank you so much.
- 32:32Speaker 4: We appreciate. I'll see you twelve thirty. Okay, all right.
- 32:36Speaker 1: That is remarkable. So this is remarkable.
- 32:41Speaker 2: You've got reservations at the hottest place for Mother's Day
- 32:45Speaker 2: New York in Boston.
- 32:47Speaker 1: It is remarkable. Thank you.
- 32:49Speaker 3: With the Greek god of walks walking around handy roses
- 32:52Speaker 3: and trot trotting.
- 32:53Speaker 1: I mean that was that.
- 32:55Speaker 2: I mean it was a master class because all you
- 32:58Speaker 2: did was just bad them so much that they just
- 33:01Speaker 2: wanted to give you whatever you needed to get you
- 33:04Speaker 2: off the phone.
- 33:05Speaker 4: That's exactly right. That's a bit you would have been
- 33:07Speaker 4: proud of, had you still.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Be Oh my god, listening to that, I understand why
- 33:11Speaker 1: Dan hates me. I was holding the show back. This
- 33:14Speaker 1: is better than anything that we ever did during my
- 33:16Speaker 1: eight stupid years.
- 33:22Speaker 4: A shame you had to get rid of you to
- 33:24Speaker 4: get all my true talents out.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Oh my god, I mean that was brilliant.
- 33:28Speaker 4: I am telling you, there is no way I know
- 33:30Speaker 4: you're making a joke. At your own expense.
- 33:32Speaker 3: There there is no way I do that without your
- 33:35Speaker 3: imprints being all over the radio show.
- 33:37Speaker 4: I'm not to do that.
- 33:40Speaker 1: That was brilliant.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I mean, that's good radio, like legit good radio.
- 33:46Speaker 5: When I hear that, it just reinforces that I've never
- 33:49Speaker 5: met somebody in my life like Stu Gotts. Where some
- 33:52Speaker 5: people will piss on you and tell you it's raining.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Stu Gotts will piss on you and you'll wind up
- 33:57Speaker 5: apologizing to them.
- 33:59Speaker 1: It's amazing. He has a gift.
- 34:01Speaker 2: He is unapologetically selfish, but you don't mind it for
- 34:07Speaker 2: some reason, and then you feel like he's doing you
- 34:11Speaker 2: a favor with his selfishness.
- 34:15Speaker 1: It's really a remarkable gift you have.
- 34:17Speaker 4: Well, I'm getting emotional, thank you guys.
- 34:22Speaker 2: That's uh, because like, will you still use Dan's name
- 34:27Speaker 2: you get pulled over in Miami?
- 34:29Speaker 1: Will you use Dan's name?
- 34:30Speaker 4: I mean, I haven't been in Miami since I since
- 34:33Speaker 4: the last show.
- 34:36Speaker 3: If I do, but if I do get pulled over
- 34:39Speaker 3: in Miami, I will most certainly use Levitard's.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Name because I haven't now, I haven't spoken with Dan himself.
- 34:45Speaker 2: He and I like via text or spoken. I don't
- 34:49Speaker 2: think in six years.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Wow.
- 34:51Speaker 2: And I haven't been part of the show for fifteen years, probably, well,
- 34:58Speaker 2: no longer than that may, yeah, because I'm doing I'm
- 35:01Speaker 2: in my thirteenth year doing Afternoon Drive and I did
- 35:04Speaker 2: it quite a year between mornings now about Yeah, So
- 35:07Speaker 2: I haven't been on the show and probably in fifteen years.
- 35:10Speaker 2: But I think I had texted you. You know, my
- 35:13Speaker 2: son's graduating from college and I'm going with him and
- 35:17Speaker 2: some of his roommates and the dad's up to Vegas,
- 35:20Speaker 2: and I was gonna take him to the Carrot Top
- 35:22Speaker 2: concert because Carrot Top's funny. Yes, And I'm at tempted
- 35:25Speaker 2: to drop Dan's name in some sort of email to
- 35:29Speaker 2: Carrot Top, even though if it got back to Dan,
- 35:33Speaker 2: he would say, no, absolutely, do not give him the tickets,
- 35:35Speaker 2: and I managed it would get back to Dan, but
- 35:37Speaker 2: I'd kind of like to get the tickets comped. It's
- 35:39Speaker 2: a good show, but why why pay for tickets when
- 35:42Speaker 2: you can get free ones?
- 35:43Speaker 3: So I will tell you this, I think me and
- 35:45Speaker 3: Carrot Top have arrived at a place where you could
- 35:47Speaker 3: drop my name instead of love. It's hard, because you're right,
- 35:50Speaker 3: it's going to get back to Dan he's going to
- 35:51Speaker 3: say no, Although I would like.
- 35:52Speaker 4: To see that happen, right, because like, what would I say? Hey?
- 35:56Speaker 1: Because I went to see him with Dan? I went
- 35:59Speaker 1: to see him. I was in Vegas with Dan.
- 36:01Speaker 2: We went to see Carrot Top and then we went
- 36:03Speaker 2: with Carrot Top to a Guns and Roses concert.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Who didn't, right, So I'd like to bring that up.
- 36:12Speaker 2: You know, Hey, CT, I think it's friends call him CT, Hey, CD,
- 36:17Speaker 2: I'm coming in. I don't know if you remember, But
- 36:20Speaker 2: what do I say? I've been part of the Levittard
- 36:23Speaker 2: Show since two thousand and four. Do you remember the
- 36:26Speaker 2: time we went to Guns and Roses together?
- 36:28Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 36:29Speaker 4: I would say. Here's what I would say.
- 36:31Speaker 3: I was Dan's original producer, one of his best friends
- 36:33Speaker 3: in college.
- 36:34Speaker 4: I moved on started a different show.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Do I even mention that I started a different show?
- 36:38Speaker 1: Or do I just make it sound like I'm still
- 36:39Speaker 1: on Dan's show.
- 36:40Speaker 4: Oh that's a good point, all right, Yeah, because carrots
- 36:42Speaker 4: Top wote no. I mean we just saw him in
- 36:44Speaker 4: Vegas for the super Bowl.
- 36:45Speaker 3: We did a live show. He was there with us,
- 36:48Speaker 3: We had some guests on stage with us. He won't remember.
- 36:51Speaker 4: Just say yes, I'm still Dan's executive producers. Yeah, and
- 36:54Speaker 4: I need some tickets. Yes, try then, and if it
- 36:57Speaker 4: gets back to Dan and Dan says no, then use
- 36:59Speaker 4: my name. I will tell you this.
- 37:01Speaker 3: I've already reached out to someone, not caira top directly,
- 37:04Speaker 3: but someone with his team, a marketing team, and I
- 37:07Speaker 3: asked for tickets on your behalf and I signed it.
- 37:10Speaker 4: Dan Levittard, how about that? So we got a good shot.
- 37:17Speaker 1: I mean so ridiculous. That was That was wantastic.
- 37:21Speaker 4: Where are you going to Vegas? That's exciting? End of May?
- 37:25Speaker 1: Real end of May. We're doing.
- 37:27Speaker 4: Uh.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Just so, my son graduates this weekend from college. Are
- 37:31Speaker 2: your girls graduating?
- 37:32Speaker 3: Yes they are, well, Rachel has one more year athletically,
- 37:35Speaker 3: but she is graduating. Emma graduates from Syracuse this weekend.
- 37:40Speaker 3: So I'm headed up there this weekend. Mike Turriko is
- 37:42Speaker 3: doing the commencement speech, and I've been texting back and forth.
- 37:44Speaker 4: You're friends with Mike Tico right now, I've been texting.
- 37:48Speaker 3: I've been texting him back and forth, negotiating a shorter
- 37:51Speaker 3: speech from Tarrika.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Not please, and now I feel like this we're going out.
- 38:00Speaker 2: I had made reservations a while ago. We'll be up
- 38:02Speaker 2: in Tampa this weekend is graduating University of Tampa. And
- 38:06Speaker 2: then there was another family and friends of our sons,
- 38:09Speaker 2: and they're like, hey, why don't we go out Saturday night?
- 38:11Speaker 2: And I was on open table before we started the
- 38:13Speaker 2: show today, and like the only thing left on Saturday
- 38:16Speaker 2: night for a party of seven I think was like Brio,
- 38:20Speaker 2: which I think used to be in Avannger a mall
- 38:22Speaker 2: or Bell Harbor somewhere and some other restaurant. And then
- 38:27Speaker 2: listening to the masterclass that you put on today, I
- 38:30Speaker 2: just may end up at Burns because.
- 38:32Speaker 4: I I'm happy to call any restaurant for you if
- 38:35Speaker 4: you like.
- 38:38Speaker 3: She'll be sitting exactly where you want, at exactly the
- 38:41Speaker 3: time you want.
- 38:42Speaker 4: You'll just feel gross.
- 38:44Speaker 2: But what happens when I don't show up with Andre
- 38:47Speaker 2: Vassilevsky promised?
- 38:50Speaker 4: That's sick? Todd Ball's coming.
- 38:57Speaker 1: You guys like Baker Mayfield.
- 39:02Speaker 3: Yes, since you brought up commencement speech and graduation, the
- 39:06Speaker 3: next episode will do is a mock commencement speech that
- 39:09Speaker 3: I did for the STU Good School of Broadcasting.
- 39:13Speaker 4: You'll love it.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Such good stuff. All right, let me do athlete nicknames
- 39:19Speaker 1: to get you out here.
- 39:20Speaker 4: That's the way we have to end, right, the igniter.
- 39:25Speaker 1: You'll never forget that now and then I won't.
- 39:28Speaker 3: It makes sense though he did ignite many many, you know,
- 39:31Speaker 3: big innings for for the Brewers and the Blueges.
- 39:34Speaker 2: How about uh, let me give you some easy ones.
- 39:37Speaker 2: I'm sure you have plenty of things to do today.
- 39:40Speaker 2: How about uh, oh, this is interesting. Did you know
- 39:44Speaker 2: what Muhammad Ali's nickname was?
- 39:47Speaker 1: No, that's not right.
- 39:48Speaker 4: The greatest of all time, Cassius Clay.
- 39:51Speaker 1: It's it's not right because it's a Sultan of Swat.
- 39:54Speaker 4: No, that's not that's favorites that counts as one. Though.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Let me get to a different graphic there, the Sultan
- 40:04Speaker 2: of Swat, probably because I'm like.
- 40:06Speaker 1: How could he be the Sultan of Swat?
- 40:08Speaker 4: All right?
- 40:08Speaker 3: How about Calvin Johnson Megatron and uh Clyde Drexler the
- 40:17Speaker 3: Glide and uh, what a great name, Clyde the Glide,
- 40:23Speaker 3: such a good name, and uh Noah cinderguard a thor
- 40:29Speaker 3: yeah thor Yeah. Got referenced him in one of the reservations.
- 40:35Speaker 3: I had Thorn coming. It was weird when I said
- 40:37Speaker 3: Howard Stern was coming, right, I got carried away.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I mean MESSI a stern it was.
- 40:43Speaker 2: That was honestly just a master class in shamelessness, Like
- 40:50Speaker 2: most people wouldn't even have the stomach to do the bit,
- 40:54Speaker 2: even knowing that they weren't being truthful, Like most people
- 40:57Speaker 2: wouldn't have the stomach to muscle through that bit.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Yes, you were relentless.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Yes, I did what I had to do. Dan had
- 41:04Speaker 3: time At times. It was very hard for Dan and
- 41:06Speaker 3: some of the listeners to listen to those They just, oh,
- 41:09Speaker 3: I mean, I'm.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Probably gonna have nightmares, I'm guessing for the next couple
- 41:12Speaker 1: of weeks.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Oddly, the person who loved them the most and begged
- 41:15Speaker 4: for more was stan Van Gundy.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Nightmares.
- 41:20Speaker 2: I'm gonna wake up, I'm gonna shoot up in the
- 41:22Speaker 2: middle of the night. Laurie's gonna say what's going on,
- 41:24Speaker 2: what's wrong? And I'm like, you don't see Kevin, Youkliss
- 41:27Speaker 2: walking around here with roses.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Yeah, well you wait until you and your son are
- 41:31Speaker 3: in Vegas at Brio at eight o'clock on Saturday night.
- 41:34Speaker 4: With that courtesy and Dan
- 41:41Speaker 1: With Stu Gotts and Hawkman
