- 1:46Speaker 3: Andrew Metz from Invent is here. Now, this is the
- 1:48Speaker 3: facility that's been operating actually since the nineteen seventies in
- 1:53Speaker 3: Eleanor Putnam County. Yesterday a big announcement over there. Talked
- 1:55Speaker 3: about a little bit on Metro News midday yesterday that
- 1:58Speaker 3: they are expanding, looking at hire about one hundred and
- 1:59Speaker 3: so workers over there. And Andrew mets is with the company.
- 2:04Speaker 3: He's going to join us and to talk about that
- 2:05Speaker 3: the expansion and the job there that they're going to
- 2:07Speaker 3: be having tomorrow. Again, they're looking to hire about one
- 2:09Speaker 3: hundred people out there in addition to what they already have,
- 2:12Speaker 3: So we're going to talk to Andrew Metz about that,
- 2:14Speaker 3: coming up a little bit later on. Also, State Democratic

- 2:18Speaker 3: buys are getting ready for their big Roosevelt Kennedy dinner

- 2:40Speaker 3: Goodwill planning their big night in Monte Carlo event, big
- 2:44Speaker 3: time fundraiser Alex Mahaffy and Jaman Schmidt here to talk
- 2:48Speaker 3: about it. Welcome to the show. Hey, hey, folks, Yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 3: thank you for having us, Thanks for being here. So
- 2:54Speaker 3: what's I don't know how many years has been going on,
- 2:56Speaker 3: I mean approximately, because is this happen?
- 2:59Speaker 6: Yeah, this is a third air.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I was thinking I would have guessed and I would
- 3:02Speaker 3: have gotten it right, third annual event. Look at you,
- 3:04Speaker 3: look at me knowing stuff. So for people that have
- 3:07Speaker 3: never been there, and we'll get in all the ticketing
- 3:09Speaker 3: and how it works whatever, just give us an overview
- 3:11Speaker 3: of the event.
- 3:12Speaker 6: Yeah, it's really fun. We've got food, drinks, We've got
- 3:16Speaker 6: DJ Woody Woods. He's going to be operating our dance floor.
- 3:20Speaker 6: We've got a silent auction. And one of the cool
- 3:22Speaker 6: things about this event is some of the offerings that
- 3:25Speaker 6: we have. We have raffle gaming that's like casino style.
- 3:28Speaker 6: We also have some fun games that are for the
- 3:31Speaker 6: girlies who may not like gambling games. And then we
- 3:35Speaker 6: also have a VIP area that has a cigar and
- 3:38Speaker 6: bourbon lounge, which I know some of the men will
- 3:41Speaker 6: be attracted to. And we've also got DJ EJ out there.
- 3:44Speaker 6: And all proceeds from this event actually benefit our transportation programs.
- 3:49Speaker 6: And I know a lot of people think goodwill it's.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Just our retail store stores, just the stores. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:56Speaker 3: there's a whole lot more than that.
- 3:57Speaker 6: And Jamon does a lot of our pork pr work
- 4:00Speaker 6: and so he gets that all the time. But goodwill
- 4:03Speaker 6: is so much more in our programs do so much
- 4:05Speaker 6: for the community, and so proceeds from this event directly
- 4:09Speaker 6: go to benefit our transportation initiatives.
- 4:11Speaker 3: And talk about the I guess we should tell people
- 4:13Speaker 3: where and when it is first, Let's get to that,
- 4:15Speaker 3: and then I want to talk about the transportation, but
- 4:17Speaker 3: give us the location.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Absolutely, it's going to be on Thursday, October ninth at
- 4:20Speaker 6: Berry Hills Country Club, and we've got some ticket giveaways
- 4:23Speaker 6: going on this week and all that information can be
- 4:25Speaker 6: found on our socials. But we'll get back to that
- 4:27Speaker 6: in a little bit. Jaman, do you want to talk
- 4:29Speaker 6: a little bit about our transportation initiatives.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Yeah, of course.
- 4:32Speaker 7: So there's two programs that we have that we address
- 4:35Speaker 7: transportation issues in the state. One is our Mission Mobile program.
- 4:38Speaker 7: The other ones are Weals to Work program. The Mission
- 4:40Speaker 7: Mobile is basically a bus where we offer our services
- 4:43Speaker 7: out of Typically people when they get services from us,
- 4:45Speaker 7: they come to one of our centers, our career centers,
- 4:47Speaker 7: but this bus travels throughout our twenty county footprint, offering
- 4:50Speaker 7: services to people at their local library or sometimes local
- 4:54Speaker 7: gas station, depending on where people.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Actually flow to in that community.
- 4:58Speaker 7: So that's one we also work is a program that
- 5:00Speaker 7: we built up about two years ago. I mean it's
- 5:03Speaker 7: designed basically to get people into a vehicle. A lots
- 5:06Speaker 7: of people have a hard time doing that themselves. We
- 5:08Speaker 7: can help match down payment and also do a lot
- 5:11Speaker 7: of different things to help them getting the vehicle basically.
- 5:13Speaker 7: But anyways, yeah, those are two programs we have.
- 5:15Speaker 3: And again it's so much more that this should be
- 5:17Speaker 3: your new slogan, so much more than just stores.
- 5:19Speaker 8: I like that.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Yeah, feel feel free to use that.
- 5:21Speaker 6: We like your marketing mind.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Yeah, go ahead and stable.
- 5:26Speaker 4: It's fun.
- 5:26Speaker 3: There's nothing new under the sun. You feel free to
- 5:28Speaker 3: feel free to rip it off. But again, I think
- 5:32Speaker 3: it's these programs that you talk about about going out
- 5:34Speaker 3: in the communities. And again we think of goodwill because
- 5:37Speaker 3: we're here in the canav Valley of just being here.
- 5:39Speaker 3: But I mean talk about the footprint, as you mentioned,
- 5:41Speaker 3: of the entire program of where you guys are the
- 5:43Speaker 3: summit rights, goodwill of the summit.
- 5:45Speaker 4: That is true. R.
- 5:46Speaker 7: Yeah, So I always kind of tell people it's mainly
- 5:48Speaker 7: the central southern part of the state.
- 5:50Speaker 4: So help me out, Alex.
- 5:52Speaker 7: Here, it's as slow as Bluefield High up as Braxton
- 5:56Speaker 7: far over as Greenbrier to like Parkersburg area.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Okay, that's a kind of our territory.
- 6:01Speaker 6: To Wyoming County. Essentially, it's kind of the coverage area.
- 6:05Speaker 6: So we have twenty counties and you know, we recognize
- 6:08Speaker 6: the geography of a lot of those counties is very
- 6:11Speaker 6: rule and so transportation has been a huge barrier for
- 6:14Speaker 6: many people in terms of getting to and from just
- 6:17Speaker 6: essential needs and work. And so we really want to
- 6:21Speaker 6: step in and fill those gaps. And that's something Goodwill is,
- 6:25Speaker 6: you know, we're known for, and we want to continue
- 6:27Speaker 6: to educate the community that we're not just those retail stores,
- 6:30Speaker 6: that we are actually providing these services to the communities
- 6:33Speaker 6: that we serve.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Talking again to a Jamonishment and Alex Mahaffe from Goodwill,
- 6:39Speaker 3: The Goodwill of the Summer, The Dave Allen Show and
- 6:40Speaker 3: five D Line, Brown Too and part by Morgan and Morgan,
- 6:42Speaker 3: America's largest injury law firm. If You're injured, visit for
- 6:45Speaker 3: the People dot com and guys, these things you talk
- 6:48Speaker 3: about in traveling in this big footprint from Wyoming County
- 6:50Speaker 3: up to Parkersburg is not possible without money and without
- 6:55Speaker 3: the donations. And the stores are great, but they could
- 6:57Speaker 3: they only do so much. This is you need events
- 7:00Speaker 3: like this and it's a great way for people to
- 7:02Speaker 3: help out.
- 7:02Speaker 6: Yeah, and we just want people to come, have a
- 7:04Speaker 6: good time, enjoy the evening, learn a little bit about
- 7:07Speaker 6: the mission of Goodwill and what we do, and you know,
- 7:10Speaker 6: follow us on Facebook. We're constantly posting content about some
- 7:15Speaker 6: of the different initiatives that we have. You know, get
- 7:17Speaker 6: on our website, take a look at it. If you
- 7:20Speaker 6: have any questions, Jaman and I are always open. You
- 7:23Speaker 6: can find our email online on the website. Also on
- 7:26Speaker 6: our socials, feel free ask, ask away and and learn
- 7:30Speaker 6: about what we're doing.
- 7:31Speaker 3: And let's get back to this night because this is
- 7:34Speaker 3: one of the premiere eventss you know, four or five
- 7:36Speaker 3: six events in the Canal Valley that you got to
- 7:39Speaker 3: be at, and this is one of those events exactly.
- 7:42Speaker 7: I mean the years past that we've seen from people
- 7:45Speaker 7: out being on the patio smoking cigars and join their bourbon,
- 7:49Speaker 7: to people at dance floor band. I mean, it's awesome,
- 7:51Speaker 7: it's always cool deal.
- 7:52Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 6: Yeah, and you know we've got some ticket giveaways tonight
- 7:56Speaker 6: at Working Women's Wednesday Dinner, drinks and dancing tomorrow. You
- 8:00Speaker 6: can also catch us on the Woody Wood Show tonight.
- 8:02Speaker 6: But we just really appreciate you guys, you know, helping
- 8:05Speaker 6: us promote the event, and we just want everybody to
- 8:07Speaker 6: come and have a good time.
- 8:08Speaker 3: It's it's always a great it's a great, great time. Now,
- 8:11Speaker 3: are you still in need of sponsors or is it
- 8:13Speaker 3: a little too late for that?
- 8:15Speaker 6: Oh no, we're always in need of sponsors.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Well, I just didn't know because sometimes with sponsors, you know,
- 8:19Speaker 3: there's planting and things like that, So I didn't know
- 8:21Speaker 3: you know, how far along you were on that.
- 8:22Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely, And you can find all this information on
- 8:25Speaker 6: our website, Goodwill Summit dot com. You can also follow
- 8:29Speaker 6: us on Facebook and follow the event A Night in
- 8:31Speaker 6: Monte Carlo, Golden Hour in Monaco. We're very happy about
- 8:34Speaker 6: the theme. There's a look book on there to get
- 8:36Speaker 6: your outfit inspo and all kinds of cool information. And
- 8:40Speaker 6: so again, if you have any questions, you can just
- 8:43Speaker 6: reach out to us directly.
- 8:44Speaker 3: So I know that you know, anybody is welcome. It
- 8:47Speaker 3: as long as they buy the ticket. But talk about
- 8:49Speaker 3: the talk about the I don't want to call it costuming,
- 8:51Speaker 3: but but talk about the apparel and the attire because
- 8:54Speaker 3: this this can be very fun.
- 8:56Speaker 6: Oh yeah, yeah, And I'm gonna let him on take
- 8:58Speaker 6: this one. He's had a lot of fun this.
- 9:00Speaker 3: I was gonna say, why do I get the idea,
- 9:01Speaker 3: jamm this is this is on you that.
- 9:03Speaker 7: You people look at me and they're like, man, this
- 9:06Speaker 7: guy dress is nice. Uh No, But we had the
- 9:11Speaker 7: princes the pintress board that we were working on and
- 9:14Speaker 7: definitely recommend going out there take a look at it.
- 9:17Speaker 7: But yeah, you're talking about just looking dapper for that night.
- 9:19Speaker 7: And when I say dapper for the guys, nice little
- 9:23Speaker 7: suit jacket, maybe you want to throw on a little
- 9:25Speaker 7: two button down there, maybe not wear the time, maybe
- 9:28Speaker 7: wear a little pocket square that'd be cool. And then
- 9:31Speaker 7: of course check out the pintress board and check out.
- 9:33Speaker 4: The actual looks or colors.
- 9:35Speaker 7: But then for the women's side, I'll let you take
- 9:36Speaker 7: over that little bit.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:39Speaker 6: For the women, we recommend any kind of sunset colors.
- 9:43Speaker 6: You know, have fun with your attire. Typically we say
- 9:46Speaker 6: cocktail or a little bit more but you know, we
- 9:50Speaker 6: want people to have fun with it. Come out, look sharp,
- 9:53Speaker 6: have a good time. Uh and you know, absolutely take
- 9:57Speaker 6: a take a look at the pintress board. You know,
- 10:00Speaker 6: it kind of gives the vibe of the event as
- 10:02Speaker 6: well as what to wear, and you know, go from there.
- 10:05Speaker 3: It's going to be a great night. Again, give us
- 10:07Speaker 3: all the details, the date, the time, pit tickets, wrap.

- 10:26Speaker 3: one hundred does over at the Red Carpet, And I
- 10:28Speaker 3: think they're going to ben giving away tickets over there tonight,
- 10:30Speaker 3: so stop mind and seeing them over there.
- 10:32Speaker 6: Absolutely, and those tickets are going to be VIP tickets
- 10:36Speaker 6: and so that's big time.
- 10:37Speaker 3: So definitely what is the vipe?
- 10:39Speaker 6: Oh absolutely, so general admission. You have access to the
- 10:42Speaker 6: full event. VIP actually get access to the cigar and
- 10:46Speaker 6: Bourbon lounge as well as additional entertainment. There'll be food
- 10:50Speaker 6: and drinks for both general admission and VIP, but VIP
- 10:53Speaker 6: just gets you that little extra and capability to go
- 10:57Speaker 6: out on the patio and be in the element of money.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Nice, nice, good stuff. Hey, Jamon and Alex, I appreciate

- 15:24Speaker 13: the past five years and as we've seen in the
- 15:27Speaker 13: news everywhere, it is dramatically expanding in our demand as
- 15:32Speaker 13: such has expanded with it, and so we're expanding our
- 15:35Speaker 13: facility here by one hundred and seventeen thousand square feet,
- 15:39Speaker 13: most of it concrete, as well as a warehouse that'll
- 15:42Speaker 13: put pretty much our entire campus under concrete for parking, building, storage, everything.
- 15:47Speaker 13: And with that, we're looking to hire at least one
- 15:49Speaker 13: hundred employees for our upcoming demand for the rest of
- 15:53Speaker 13: twenty twenty five and twenty twenty six.
- 15:55Speaker 3: And explain to the people that may not be familiar
- 15:58Speaker 3: with it. Again, you've you've been in business there since
- 16:00Speaker 3: the seventies, but kind of just give us you over
- 16:03Speaker 3: explain exactly what it is you do out there.
- 16:06Speaker 13: Yeah, so we build industrial metal buildings for industry. So
- 16:11Speaker 13: if you ever go by a substation where you see
- 16:15Speaker 13: all the transformers, you'll see a metal building there. That
- 16:17Speaker 13: metal building will carry very important equipment to run that substation.
- 16:24Speaker 13: In the past five years, we've expanded to where now
- 16:27Speaker 13: we're working in the data center industry, and what our
- 16:28Speaker 13: building is is it is a system to help make
- 16:32Speaker 13: sure that there is an uninterrupted power supply to a
- 16:35Speaker 13: data center. So if the power goes starts to go
- 16:37Speaker 13: out one of these data centers, there'll be a battery
- 16:40Speaker 13: within our system that will kick on to make sure
- 16:43Speaker 13: that the power doesn't go off, and then within fifteen
- 16:45Speaker 13: twenty minutes, if the power isn't back on, our system
- 16:48Speaker 13: will automatically transfer to a generator system so that that
- 16:51Speaker 13: data center, no matter what, has a power supply.
- 16:54Speaker 3: And how many people do you currently employee there?
- 16:58Speaker 13: One hundred and fifty employees, Okay.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Got one hundred five now, but you're looking to hire
- 17:01Speaker 3: at least one hundred more. Right, that's what you said, right.
- 17:04Speaker 13: That's right. Once we're done, we're hoping we have at
- 17:07Speaker 13: least two hundred and fifty for the demand that we
- 17:10Speaker 13: have right now, not not counting any future demand.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Yeah, and let's talk about that demand because I mean, obviously,
- 17:16Speaker 3: you know, the company's been in business, as we said,
- 17:18Speaker 3: since the nineteen seventies, but there's obviously a greater demand
- 17:21Speaker 3: or you wouldn't be doing this.
- 17:23Speaker 13: Oh. Absolutely, we still we talk about the data centers now,
- 17:28Speaker 13: but we've been really doing this work for five to
- 17:31Speaker 13: five to six years within the data center world, and
- 17:34Speaker 13: every year it's more work than what we've had before.
- 17:37Speaker 13: And we're to the point where, you know, we're changing
- 17:40Speaker 13: our processes to almost become like a manufacturing facility for buildings.
- 17:44Speaker 13: So we're trying to actually have you know, a gigantic
- 17:47Speaker 13: assembly line. We're each building and go through stages to
- 17:51Speaker 13: get them out faster from here.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I love it. I love it again. We're talking
- 17:54Speaker 3: with Andrew Mettz from Invent about the expansion of this
- 17:58Speaker 3: facility in Eland or Putnam County to day aland show
- 18:00Speaker 3: in five eighty Live is broad to you part my
- 18:02Speaker 3: husband's pizza. This month, get a large at Niche Pepperoni
- 18:05Speaker 3: pizza and an order of fifty cinnamon bytes. We're only
- 18:07Speaker 3: twenty ninety nine. Find your closest Hustands for a delivery,
- 18:11Speaker 3: pickup or dining at Huston'sizza dot com. Right, so you
- 18:13Speaker 3: have a job fare that's going to be tomorrow. What
- 18:16Speaker 3: are you looking for in potential employees there?
- 18:21Speaker 13: So, the three biggest areas that we need is we
- 18:24Speaker 13: need builders who are or people who actually build the
- 18:26Speaker 13: buildings that we're going to be having here coming up.
- 18:29Speaker 13: We need electricians because these have a pretty highly configured gear.
- 18:34Speaker 13: We also have you know why are when we do
- 18:36Speaker 13: for the HVC systems that go into these. And then
- 18:38Speaker 13: we're looking for a large group of welders as well.
- 18:41Speaker 13: Some of the buildings that we do have underlying welding
- 18:44Speaker 13: structures that have to be going to place. We also
- 18:46Speaker 13: have probably at least five or ten office positions of
- 18:49Speaker 13: varying types that we're looking for as well. All right,
- 18:52Speaker 13: in that jobfare that we're having to Sorry.
- 18:53Speaker 3: No, no, that's okay. I'm just going to ask you
- 18:55Speaker 3: about the office positions because anytime you hear a company
- 18:58Speaker 3: like this, you automatically think, well, it's it's it's it's
- 19:01Speaker 3: the hardcore labor here, you know, it's that's that kind
- 19:03Speaker 3: of stuff, and it is. There's a lot of that.
- 19:05Speaker 3: But I wasn't aware that you also had office positions.
- 19:07Speaker 3: So let's talk about what you're looking for as far
- 19:09Speaker 3: as office positions go.
- 19:11Speaker 13: Yeah, so we're looking for some lean manufacturing expertise. We're
- 19:16Speaker 13: also looking for a project manager. We're looking for, you know,
- 19:20Speaker 13: a a scheduler. Various things are supportive to support all
- 19:25Speaker 13: of the various work that we're going to be doing
- 19:26Speaker 13: next year. And we actually already have a large office
- 19:29Speaker 13: group as well. This is to support the additional demand
- 19:31Speaker 13: coming up.
- 19:32Speaker 3: I love it. And talk about your relationship in Putnam County.
- 19:36Speaker 3: I mean you've been there, as we said, for quite
- 19:38Speaker 3: some time. What is it about Putnam County Because you
- 19:40Speaker 3: could probably take this operation anywhere, but you've you've remaining
- 19:43Speaker 3: in Putnam County. Talk about your relationship with the with
- 19:46Speaker 3: the officials and the public in Eleanor and in Putnam County.
- 19:51Speaker 13: We have always had a great supportive community here in Eleanor,
- 19:55Speaker 13: West Virginia, and also across the river in Winfield. The
- 19:58Speaker 13: Putnam County commit has been great to us as well
- 20:01Speaker 13: as Eleanor. And really the thing that makes us always
- 20:04Speaker 13: want to stay here is the people. We have an
- 20:07Speaker 13: amazing community of employees. You know, they come from, you know,
- 20:11Speaker 13: all around the local area and it just makes it
- 20:14Speaker 13: a great place to work.
- 20:16Speaker 3: And again, you wouldn't have been in business as long
- 20:18Speaker 3: as what you have been if it weren't for that
- 20:21Speaker 3: great relationship. Because, as you know, any company is only
- 20:24Speaker 3: as good as the community and the workers that support it.
- 20:27Speaker 3: So let's talk about the job fare. It is going
- 20:29Speaker 3: to be there at your facility. Give us the address
- 20:31Speaker 3: of the facility in Eleanor.
- 20:34Speaker 13: Yes, it is three two eight Industrial Park Drive, Eleanor Or,
- 20:38Speaker 13: West Virginia, and we will be having for qualified individuals.
- 20:42Speaker 13: We have the capability to offer on site tomorrow during
- 20:45Speaker 13: the job fair on site.
- 20:46Speaker 8: I love it. I love it.
- 20:47Speaker 3: So if people are interested in any of these jobs,
- 20:50Speaker 3: they bring a Resumey is there like a skills test
- 20:53Speaker 3: on any of these jobs? What are you looking for there?
- 20:56Speaker 13: So obviously if we're looking through electricians and welters, there
- 21:00Speaker 13: maybe some you know, testing to to ensure we have
- 21:02Speaker 13: good expertise, but you know, bring a resume and also,
- 21:05Speaker 13: you know, outside of the job fare, I think it's
- 21:07Speaker 13: important that if you can't make the job fair, you
- 21:09Speaker 13: can always go to invent dot com, n v e
- 21:12Speaker 13: NT dot com, slash careers and then search for the
- 21:15Speaker 13: eleanor facility and all of these positions are also available
- 21:18Speaker 13: there as well. You just go online for all an
- 21:19Speaker 13: application and we will give you a call.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Well, congratulations on the expansion of the of the uh
- 21:26Speaker 3: the operation out there, because I can tell you you
- 21:28Speaker 3: know somebody who lives in Putnam County and know the
- 21:29Speaker 3: great things that you all do there, not only just there,
- 21:31Speaker 3: but the things that your employees in your company does
- 21:35Speaker 3: in the in the community as well. And thank you
- 21:37Speaker 3: for your investment uh in in Putnam County because I mean,
- 21:40Speaker 3: obviously you're not just going to employ people in Putnham County.
- 21:42Speaker 3: You got them driving from all over for these jobs.
- 21:45Speaker 13: Yeah, that's right. We have people all the way from
- 21:47Speaker 13: point Pleasant that work here already.
- 21:49Speaker 3: That's that's good stuff. And now we're looking to hire
- 21:51Speaker 3: one hundred or so more. Can you give us I
- 21:54Speaker 3: know you said you'll be offering jobs on demand, but
- 21:57Speaker 3: can you give us any idea of what some of
- 21:59Speaker 3: the pay for these jobs would be. I mean, I
- 22:01Speaker 3: know it's a very very ballpark figure. We're not going
- 22:02Speaker 3: to hold you to it, but i'm imagining, because you're
- 22:05Speaker 3: talking about skilled labor here, I'm imagining you're going to
- 22:08Speaker 3: have a pretty pretty decent rate of pay.
- 22:12Speaker 13: Yeah, and Midtedly, I'm not HR, so I can't talk
- 22:15Speaker 13: m Yeah. Yeah, they are competitive, competitive wages, and they
- 22:20Speaker 13: do absolutely range depending on the expresses you come in at.
- 22:23Speaker 13: So if you're more at the beginner level, it'll be
- 22:25Speaker 13: more of an entry pay. You know, if you're coming
- 22:27Speaker 13: in with you know, several years experience or skill set,
- 22:29Speaker 13: especially in the electrical and the welding area, that pay
- 22:33Speaker 13: will definitely be high as a result of that.
- 22:34Speaker 3: All right, give us the website again in case people
- 22:37Speaker 3: can't make it to the job there tomorrow.
- 22:39Speaker 13: Yes, So it's invent n V E n T dot
- 22:43Speaker 13: com slash careers, and then you just go there and
- 22:45Speaker 13: you can search for the facility at eleanor West Virginia.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Okay, and the hours for the job there tomorrow.
- 22:52Speaker 13: It is three to six pm.
- 22:53Speaker 3: All right, Andrew, I appreciate you take a time at
- 22:56Speaker 3: a schedule to be here. We've had you on there
- 22:57Speaker 3: two days in a row. We hed you on the
- 22:59Speaker 3: midday show yesterday of a local show here today. We'll
- 23:01Speaker 3: leave you alone for a couple of days. But we
- 23:03Speaker 3: appreciate it. Man, thanks a lot.
- 23:05Speaker 13: Anytime you want to talk about what we're doing here,
- 23:07Speaker 13: I'm happy to call in.
- 23:09Speaker 3: All right, appreciate it. Thanks a lot.
- 23:11Speaker 13: Thank you.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Coming up on nine thirty State Democratic Party Cheering Delicate.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Mike Pushkin will join us a little bit later on
- 23:16Speaker 3: I you know again, I love when I hear these
- 23:19Speaker 3: announcements like this, because this is a company that admittedly
- 23:24Speaker 3: could be anywhere, and I'm not paid to talk about
- 23:27Speaker 3: them or don't sponsor my show or anything like that.
- 23:29Speaker 3: I'm just saying that they could have this operation anywhere,
- 23:33Speaker 3: but they choose to have it in West Virginia, and
- 23:35Speaker 3: I know, I know living in that area that what
- 23:37Speaker 3: they give back to the community and very involved in
- 23:40Speaker 3: various things, so it was very nice. I was unable
- 23:43Speaker 3: to make the ribbon cutting and ceremonies yesterday because you know,
- 23:48Speaker 3: work and everything, but it's great and they got a
- 23:51Speaker 3: great relationship with elected officials, with the Chamber of Commerce
- 23:54Speaker 3: and so on and so forth. So I applaud them.
- 23:56Speaker 3: See I just applauded them. Knock out a couple of
- 24:01Speaker 3: I said, let's notok out a text here, and then
- 24:03Speaker 3: we'll go to break a little bit early ahead and
- 24:04Speaker 3: bring pushkin in here. Texas, Dave, I know you saw
- 24:07Speaker 3: Trump and Hegsath's presentation to the top military brands. Did
- 24:11Speaker 3: you hear the silence after their applause lines? The silence
- 24:14Speaker 3: was deafening. That political theater meeting was pitiful. Trump and
- 24:18Speaker 3: Pete trying to look so tough and cool but looked
- 24:20Speaker 3: like lame os. It's a text.
- 24:23Speaker 13: You know.
- 24:23Speaker 3: It's interesting because we had a retired Army colonel regular
- 24:27Speaker 3: to the show, Colonel Dunn Berner, as we called it,
- 24:29Speaker 3: was on the show yesterday and look he applauded because
- 24:33Speaker 3: we actually played some of the audio from Hegseth's speech
- 24:36Speaker 3: yesterday and Berner was one He absolutely just he thought
- 24:41Speaker 3: everything was great. And I think it all depends on
- 24:44Speaker 3: your perspective. I was talking to a good friend of
- 24:46Speaker 3: mine last night who is retired military, and I just
- 24:50Speaker 3: asked him point blank, I said, so what did you
- 24:52Speaker 3: think of it? And he's not, like I said, he's retired. Now,
- 24:54Speaker 3: I just asked him, I so, what did you think
- 24:56Speaker 3: of it? He said, I thought it was great. I
- 24:57Speaker 3: think all of these changes that they're making it in
- 24:58Speaker 3: the military are great. I'm I'm for one hundred percent.
- 25:02Speaker 3: And again, that was a guy who's retired military. Now,
- 25:04Speaker 3: not everybody's gonna think that, but I'm just gonna I'm

- 30:45Speaker 18: Jets right now. We looked to be I mean, we
- 30:47Speaker 18: had like I think like twelve penalties and three turnovers
- 30:52Speaker 18: the other night against you know, the team that I
- 30:54Speaker 18: probably despised the most in this world, of Miami Dolphins.
- 30:58Speaker 8: It was it was hard to take. Ye.
- 31:00Speaker 18: All the Dolphins fans out there, I'm sure you have
- 31:02Speaker 18: let me have it, and that's uh, that's your you know,
- 31:05Speaker 18: good for you, it's your right to do so. We
- 31:08Speaker 18: are currently my New York Jets are currently the worst
- 31:11Speaker 18: team in the NFL. You think so, well, I guess
- 31:14Speaker 18: some Tennessee Titans might. Yeah, it's between us and the Titans.
- 31:17Speaker 18: Who's on the clock for that first pick. I believe
- 31:20Speaker 18: next spring they're already.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Playing the sad party.
- 31:23Speaker 18: So it's even if we get the first pick. We
- 31:25Speaker 18: historically are not really good at picking.
- 31:27Speaker 3: So that sounds like the Cowboys. Yeah, and that gave
- 31:30Speaker 3: the other night. I mean, there should never be a tie,
- 31:32Speaker 3: and I mean do something flip a coin, you know,
- 31:36Speaker 3: slap fight, competitive dance, do something, you know, there should
- 31:39Speaker 3: be There should never be a tie. First time in
- 31:42Speaker 3: my lifetime and I'm fifty five years old that the
- 31:44Speaker 3: Cowboys have had a tie game. Nineteen sixty nine was
- 31:46Speaker 3: a lot.
- 31:46Speaker 18: They could have come to the middle of the field
- 31:47Speaker 18: and done rock scissors papers, of course, something which often
- 31:50Speaker 18: ends in a tie.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Also. All right, all right, so let me start. We
- 31:55Speaker 3: got a lot of things I want to talk to
- 31:56Speaker 3: you government shut down, but I want to talk about
- 31:57Speaker 3: the dinner that you got to.
- 31:59Speaker 18: Okay, yes week hit hit that that is this Saturday.
- 32:02Speaker 18: It's coming up very soon. There are there are tickets
- 32:04Speaker 18: still available at wv democrats dot com. Slash r K.
- 32:10Speaker 18: RK stands for Roosevelt Kennedy. It's our annual Roosevelt Kennedy
- 32:13Speaker 18: Dinner where Democrats from all across the state and we
- 32:17Speaker 18: invite you know what, We'll invite independence and non unaffiliated
- 32:20Speaker 18: voters and Republicans are welcome there too. But it's a
- 32:23Speaker 18: big dinner put on by the West Virginia Democratic Party
- 32:26Speaker 18: at Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center and the doors.
- 32:32Speaker 8: Opened at six. Let's see, we.
- 32:34Speaker 18: Have the Mayor Monroe Nichols, the newly elected mayor from Tulsa, Oklahoma,
- 32:42Speaker 18: is one of our keynote speakers. We have two keynote
- 32:45Speaker 18: speakers this year, and also a newly elected Congressman from
- 32:49Speaker 18: the Northern Virginia, James Walkinshaw, who just recently won in
- 32:54Speaker 18: a special election, so not not one, but two great
- 32:58Speaker 18: speakers for that event, and of course with other elected
- 33:02Speaker 18: officials and the mayor Charleston will be joining us this year.
- 33:06Speaker 18: Uh so yeah, it should be a great event and
- 33:08Speaker 18: also music provided by the great Bob Thompson. So again,
- 33:12Speaker 18: tickets are going fast, but they are still available WV
- 33:15Speaker 18: democrats dot com slash r k.
- 33:18Speaker 3: So you're not doing any music there. I know you're
- 33:20Speaker 3: your official role of State Democratic Party Chair and I
- 33:22Speaker 3: have joined mister Thompson for something.
- 33:24Speaker 19: Uh.
- 33:24Speaker 18: You know, the first year that I was chair, I
- 33:28Speaker 18: did sit in with the musical guests that we had,
- 33:30Speaker 18: of course, but the musical guest that year, one of
- 33:33Speaker 18: our musical guests that year was was my friend Sierra Ferrell,
- 33:36Speaker 18: who's killing it right now by the way, more time
- 33:39Speaker 18: Grammy winner. So I got to sit in with her
- 33:41Speaker 18: at the first figure. Yeah, I should probably just quit. Well, yeah,
- 33:46Speaker 18: you're you're right about that, all right.
- 33:47Speaker 3: So we'll hit that a little bit later on so
- 33:49Speaker 3: we can give you a chance to sell some tickets
- 33:51Speaker 3: to that. But I want to talk about last night,
- 33:53Speaker 3: uh and the Ctate Democratic Party Chair and some of
- 33:55Speaker 3: you folks are State Democratic party, I should he's been
- 33:57Speaker 3: doing these kitchen table answer.
- 34:00Speaker 18: That's actually I mean to be clear, that's put on
- 34:02Speaker 18: by the House Democrats fault, which you know, we're all
- 34:05Speaker 18: you know, we're all worked together, and which I'm in both.
- 34:08Speaker 2: But you've had a.
- 34:09Speaker 3: Series of that. And the last night Year Old into Morto.
- 34:11Speaker 18: Number three was last night and that was at the
- 34:13Speaker 18: actually it was near Morgantown. It wasn't in Morgantown technically,
- 34:16Speaker 18: it was at the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department. And they
- 34:20Speaker 18: keep growing. Last night was over one hundred and fifty people.
- 34:23Speaker 18: And what was different about last night I think it
- 34:25Speaker 18: was because we were in we were near the university.
- 34:28Speaker 18: We had a lot of university students there and that's
- 34:30Speaker 18: who asked most of the questions.
- 34:32Speaker 3: And what are some of the questions that they asked
- 34:33Speaker 3: when they came.
- 34:34Speaker 18: Well, mainly they're concerned about a future for young people
- 34:37Speaker 18: in West Virginia. You know, unfortunately, are our greatest I
- 34:40Speaker 18: said this for years, Our greatest export in West Virginia
- 34:43Speaker 18: are our young people. We we have you know, people
- 34:47Speaker 18: are when they get educated and then then they take off.
- 34:50Speaker 18: And that's what we want people to see the world.
- 34:51Speaker 18: I encourage people to get out there and everything, but
- 34:53Speaker 18: we need people moving here, and we need our university
- 34:56Speaker 18: students staying here, or the state has absolutely no. So
- 35:00Speaker 18: they were concerned about a lot of the actions from
- 35:03Speaker 18: the legislature over the past several years that make this
- 35:05Speaker 18: state less attractive.
- 35:06Speaker 8: To young people.
- 35:07Speaker 18: You know, if we want a future in this state,
- 35:09Speaker 18: everything that we do over there at the Bad Idea Factory,
- 35:13Speaker 18: that's what I call the state capital, everything that we
- 35:15Speaker 18: do over there should be run through the prism of
- 35:18Speaker 18: will this bring young people to this state? Will this
- 35:20Speaker 18: make this state more attractive for young people to stay?
- 35:23Speaker 18: And unfortunately, over the past ten years, and especially over
- 35:27Speaker 18: the past several years now that the Republicans have had
- 35:29Speaker 18: two supermajorities in the legislature, they've been doing the exact
- 35:33Speaker 18: opposite of that. They've been passing legislation that makes kids
- 35:36Speaker 18: want to leave here.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Give an example of some of those in your opinion.
- 35:41Speaker 18: Well, I mean, one thing came up was the fact
- 35:43Speaker 18: that this state, I mean, a young woman got up
- 35:47Speaker 18: and said that she was reluctant to raise a family
- 35:50Speaker 18: here because of something went wrong with her pregnancy. The doctors,
- 35:55Speaker 18: you know, are threatened with criminal penalties if something goes
- 35:59Speaker 18: wrong because of our draconian laws in regards to women's
- 36:04Speaker 18: health caare in this state. And not just I mean,
- 36:07Speaker 18: I'm not even just talking about the Dobbs decision and
- 36:10Speaker 18: the overturning of ROW, where I feel like most West
- 36:12Speaker 18: Virginians would like to be able to speak out on it,
- 36:15Speaker 18: would like to have a vote on that, whether or
- 36:17Speaker 18: not we are able.
- 36:17Speaker 8: To codify ROW.
- 36:18Speaker 18: Like other Red states have done, They've put it to
- 36:21Speaker 18: the voters, and like President Trump has said, he supports
- 36:24Speaker 18: putting it to the voters. Unfortunately, the Republicans in this
- 36:27Speaker 18: state don't want to hear from the voters on this,
- 36:29Speaker 18: and we've the Democrats in the House have introduced a
- 36:32Speaker 18: resolution to put it on the ballot year after year
- 36:34Speaker 18: since you know, since twenty three, since the Dobbs decision,
- 36:39Speaker 18: and they've been you know, just refused to do that,
- 36:43Speaker 18: refuse to let the votership. But that's just one thing. Also,
- 36:45Speaker 18: as far as also in regards to women's health, we've
- 36:48Speaker 18: tried to pass, you know, laws over the past few
- 36:51Speaker 18: years about Duela's about you know that would help with childbirth,
- 36:56Speaker 18: about you know, studies on maternal health, you know, just
- 37:01Speaker 18: not just talking about Dobbs in row, but just as
- 37:03Speaker 18: far as women's health, women's health goes all together, and
- 37:07Speaker 18: then just you know, a lot of the focus over
- 37:09Speaker 18: the past several years on culture war issues that young
- 37:13Speaker 18: people really don't care about. It turns them off from politics.
- 37:17Speaker 18: And one thing that I stated last night, it's a
- 37:21Speaker 18: lot of these kids, this is all they know. You know,
- 37:23Speaker 18: over the past ten years, our politics in this country
- 37:26Speaker 18: have been dominated by this vitriolic rhetoric that really turns
- 37:31Speaker 18: people off, especially young people, and they don't remember anything
- 37:34Speaker 18: before that. And a lot of it stems from the
- 37:37Speaker 18: very top, when you have the chief executive you other,
- 37:40Speaker 18: president of the United States that spends more time attacking
- 37:42Speaker 18: people on Twitter than he does negotiating for his own budget.
- 37:47Speaker 8: Yeah, there's a problem.
- 37:49Speaker 3: And this was you said there's one hundred people there
- 37:52Speaker 3: were They came out last night over over over one
- 37:54Speaker 3: hundred people or one hundred and fifty at this event
- 37:57Speaker 3: just outside Morgantown. And I'm interested to know you said
- 38:00Speaker 3: there were a lot of young people there at the
- 38:01Speaker 3: University city. You completely understand that, but I would be
- 38:03Speaker 3: interested to know how many people that, if any that
- 38:06Speaker 3: probably were that. Weren't there, weren't Democrats were there, Republicans
- 38:09Speaker 3: were there, independent.
- 38:11Speaker 18: Were independence and unaffiliated voters a lot of that's the
- 38:14Speaker 18: fastest growing voting block in the country, independence and unaffiliated voters,
- 38:18Speaker 18: and there were a lot, and there were Republicans there.
- 38:20Speaker 18: And at every event that we've had, we have had Republicans, independents,
- 38:24Speaker 18: unaffiliated voters, and Democrats.
- 38:26Speaker 3: What's your message to independent voters, Well, it's it's we're
- 38:30Speaker 3: there or.
- 38:31Speaker 18: On ail to listen more and it's a listening to
- 38:34Speaker 18: the main messages. Hey, we're here to listen. What do
- 38:37Speaker 18: you want us to do? We can be better legislators
- 38:39Speaker 18: if we get out in the community and listen to you.
- 38:41Speaker 18: And that's why I'm so glad that we're going into
- 38:43Speaker 18: many districts that don't have democratic representation. Where we were
- 38:47Speaker 18: last night, Yeah, we were in mon County, but we
- 38:49Speaker 18: were in a part that's that's currently represented by a
- 38:53Speaker 18: Republican in the House of Delegates. And we went into
- 38:56Speaker 18: his district and heard from folks in his district and
- 39:00Speaker 18: what we're hearing and that's why we're calling it a
- 39:02Speaker 18: kitchen table tour because what we're hearing about are more
- 39:04Speaker 18: about issues that you think about people talking about around
- 39:07Speaker 18: their kitchen table, things that affect their day to day lives.
- 39:10Speaker 18: A big issue is access to healthcare. A lot of people,
- 39:14Speaker 18: not just folks on Medicaid, but small business owners, independent contractors, entrepreneurs.
- 39:19Speaker 18: They're about to see their premium's skyrocket right now, and
- 39:23Speaker 18: they're about to see a tax increase because of this
- 39:27Speaker 18: continuing resolution that the Republicans seem so unwilling to compromise
- 39:32Speaker 18: on in Washington. So that's a big concern as a
- 39:35Speaker 18: people's the cost of healthcare in this country all around.
- 39:38Speaker 18: And of course, you know, our public employees, which we
- 39:41Speaker 18: have a whole lot of here in knag County and
- 39:43Speaker 18: a whole lot up in Mond County as well, where
- 39:46Speaker 18: we were last night, have seen three premium increases over
- 39:49Speaker 18: the past couple of years since the passage of Senate
- 39:53Speaker 18: Bill two sixty eight, which has led to these drastic
- 39:56Speaker 18: premium increases for our state workers, our teachers, our child
- 40:00Speaker 18: protective service workers, or our correctional officers, the people who
- 40:04Speaker 18: build our bridges and fix our roads their see and
- 40:06Speaker 18: not to mention, well, we'll mention our retirees who live
- 40:09Speaker 18: on fixed incomes. They're seeing rate increases, which in effect
- 40:13Speaker 18: is a pay cut. So yeah, those are kitchen table
- 40:16Speaker 18: issues that those are things that affect our day to
- 40:18Speaker 18: day lives and not these culture war issues that are
- 40:20Speaker 18: only meant to help people who are really, in my opinion,
- 40:25Speaker 18: not qualified for the job get re elected to a job.
- 40:28Speaker 3: How is the candidate recruitment going, as the state Democrat.
- 40:31Speaker 8: Very well, it's going very well.
- 40:34Speaker 11: I can tell you.
- 40:34Speaker 3: A lot of people on the Republican side have already
- 40:37Speaker 3: announced that they're running, which I think is kind of interesting.
- 40:40Speaker 3: You know that you've got so many Republicans that are
- 40:42Speaker 3: running against other Republicans, but that comes with being the
- 40:45Speaker 3: party in power.
- 40:46Speaker 18: I believe with shaping up that we're going to have
- 40:47Speaker 18: some primaries as well, especially at the top of our ticket.
- 40:50Speaker 18: There's been a lot of interest, and of course the
- 40:53Speaker 18: filing period is in January. That's when we know for sure.
- 40:55Speaker 18: But right now, if you look at the Secretary State's website,
- 40:58Speaker 18: you will see more Democrats profile than you have in
- 41:01Speaker 18: the past several cycles. So we're ahead of the game
- 41:04Speaker 18: from where we were a couple of years ago, and
- 41:05Speaker 18: I think that's only going to increase because people are
- 41:07Speaker 18: fed up with the way things are.
- 41:09Speaker 8: Going right now.
- 41:09Speaker 18: I want to go back to a lot of people
- 41:10Speaker 18: who want to step up and be the change that
- 41:13Speaker 18: they want to see.
- 41:14Speaker 3: I want to go back to the Kitchen Table events
- 41:15Speaker 3: just for a moment, because this one was held outside
- 41:17Speaker 3: of Morgantown last night. You got several more, and there
- 41:19Speaker 3: is come one coming to Charleston.
- 41:20Speaker 18: Right October seventh at six pm over at the Charleston
- 41:24Speaker 18: Women's Club over on the East End.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Okay, all right, well, obviously the government shut down. I
- 41:28Speaker 3: want to get in to that partial partial government shutdown.
- 41:32Speaker 3: I get corrected every time I say shut down, but
- 41:33Speaker 3: it's partial government shutdown. So we'll get into that here

- 45:58Speaker 18: points for Butschkin.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Text sits so if I understand correctly, one Democrat doesn't
- 46:03Speaker 3: have one Democrat doesn't have enough good to speak about
- 46:08Speaker 3: this requiring two Democrats to fill the bill. It's a
- 46:10Speaker 3: text tech says on the government shutdown. It sucks for
- 46:13Speaker 3: government workers not getting paid. Democrats finally have leverage and
- 46:16Speaker 3: they should use it while they can't. If they concede
- 46:18Speaker 3: to the resolution, they'll be back in the same spot
- 46:20Speaker 3: in seven weeks with Republicans unwilling to negotiate in good faith.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Congress is a failure. I wish West Virginia news media
- 46:26Speaker 3: would treat our congressional delegation like the failures that they are.
- 46:30Speaker 18: I do I agree with that text. I think we
- 46:33Speaker 18: need to be honest about what's going on. Look, obviously,
- 46:35Speaker 18: the Republicans have the executive branch, they have the White House,
- 46:39Speaker 18: they have both. They have control of Congress, the House
- 46:42Speaker 18: and the Senate, and they have control of the judicial
- 46:45Speaker 18: branch as well. This shutdowns on them. You know, the
- 46:50Speaker 18: same people that are you know, crying foul about this
- 46:53Speaker 18: shutdown or the same people just you know, six months ago,
- 46:55Speaker 18: were in favor of the filibuster rule, which is supposed
- 46:59Speaker 18: to incur ridge compromise in the Senate. That's where things
- 47:03Speaker 18: are supposed to slow down. I'm starting to sound like
- 47:05Speaker 18: Senator Mansioneer. That's where things slow down, or in the Senate,
- 47:08Speaker 18: that's where you're supposed to reach compromise. And there was
- 47:10Speaker 18: a complete unwillingness on the part of President Trump and
- 47:13Speaker 18: the Republicans in Congress to compromise on this continuing Resolution.
- 47:17Speaker 18: And I'm tired of hearing this. Well, the Democrats voted
- 47:20Speaker 18: on a clean this isn't a clean bill. You're talking
- 47:22Speaker 18: about the Trump budget, which is going to severely impact
- 47:25Speaker 18: people across this country and especially here in West Virginia.
- 47:28Speaker 18: We have a whole lot of people, like sixty thousand
- 47:31Speaker 18: people in danger of losing their health care, many more
- 47:35Speaker 18: in danger of seeing premiums go up because these the
- 47:39Speaker 18: tax credits are no longer and when they don't extend this,
- 47:41Speaker 18: that's a tax increase. That continuing Resolution is a tax
- 47:46Speaker 18: increase on many of our small business owners, our entrepreneurs
- 47:49Speaker 18: are independent contractors. So yes, the Democrats in the Senate
- 47:53Speaker 18: need to use every tool with their disposal to fight
- 47:55Speaker 18: to do what they're supposed to do, do their job
- 47:57Speaker 18: and fight for their constituents who are in danger of
- 48:01Speaker 18: losing access to healthcare. Right now, that's what that Continuing
- 48:04Speaker 18: Resolution continues a really bad budget that was forced through
- 48:09Speaker 18: without any compromise at all.
- 48:11Speaker 3: I mean when you turn on you know, the TV
- 48:13Speaker 3: or radio or whatever, and and you see people in
- 48:17Speaker 3: Washington just and you mentioned Senator Mansion, and of course
- 48:22Speaker 3: he's got a new book out, and we've had him
- 48:24Speaker 3: on the show and so on and so forth. Why
- 48:26Speaker 3: can't we just why can't we just get along? Why
- 48:28Speaker 3: can't we just work in Washington? I mean in West Virginia.
- 48:33Speaker 3: I mean, I know you've got your issues with the
- 48:35Speaker 3: with the Republicans obviously in the legislature whatever, but you
- 48:39Speaker 3: guys can work together on certain things. Why can't we
- 48:41Speaker 3: That's why they have that rule.
- 48:43Speaker 18: Okay, And I've been you know, in the past when
- 48:45Speaker 18: you know, obviously I've had issues with it when we
- 48:47Speaker 18: were trying to get like past the John Lewis Voting
- 48:50Speaker 18: Rights Act. I thought that was something that they, the Republicans,
- 48:54Speaker 18: should have compromised on.
- 48:55Speaker 8: They refused two years ago. But it's the same rule.
- 48:57Speaker 8: It's a filibuster rule.
- 48:58Speaker 18: That's why they need sixty vote to pass this continuing Resolution,
- 49:01Speaker 18: and that should encourage compromise. But there's been a complete
- 49:05Speaker 18: unwillingness on the part of the Republicans to compromise on this.
- 49:09Speaker 18: Why would any Democrat vote for a huge tax cut
- 49:13Speaker 18: for billionaires at the expense of working people, raising people's
- 49:18Speaker 18: premiums to pay for and cutting people off of their
- 49:22Speaker 18: healthcare to offset a tax break for billionaires. Democrats are
- 49:26Speaker 18: not going to vote for that, nor should they vote
- 49:28Speaker 18: for that. But you have that sixty vote rule, which
- 49:31Speaker 18: means the Republicans need to sit down at the table
- 49:33Speaker 18: and figure out what they can get past. They've been
- 49:36Speaker 18: unwilling to do this. Look, the Democrats are still in Washington,
- 49:38Speaker 18: d C. The Republicans went home. You know, Congressman Riley
- 49:42Speaker 18: Moore is probably on Twitter somewhere and he's your friend. Yeah,
- 49:46Speaker 18: you know, dear friend.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Well, you guys were friends at one point. He's told me.
- 49:49Speaker 18: That until he went off the deep end, started taking
- 49:52Speaker 18: selfies in front of detentions, you know, out of detention
- 49:56Speaker 18: centers in l Salvador. Found that to be a little
- 49:59Speaker 18: off putting this say the least. But you know, the
- 50:01Speaker 18: Republicans left, the Democrats were there ready to work. Yeah,
- 50:05Speaker 18: somebody was talking about, uh, the fact that the president
- 50:07Speaker 18: was at the Ryder Cup this past weekend. Yeah, I mean,
- 50:10Speaker 18: you know, doing everything except as job okay, uh, you know,
- 50:14Speaker 18: talking in front and I you know what what concerns
- 50:16Speaker 18: me about the speech in front of the military leadership.
- 50:19Speaker 18: It wasn't so much as what Hexas said. It's what
- 50:22Speaker 18: the President said saying the enemy is within UH, saying
- 50:26Speaker 18: that this this uh, implying that we're going to use
- 50:28Speaker 18: the military against American citizens.
- 50:30Speaker 8: That that should scare everybody.
- 50:32Speaker 3: But what do you think when you see the Louisiana
- 50:34Speaker 3: folks who are asking for it?
- 50:36Speaker 18: Well, that you know that the governor, the governor can
- 50:39Speaker 18: call in is own that the governor and the National
- 50:41Speaker 18: Guards or the state Uh. You know, that's the the
- 50:44Speaker 18: that's at the dispense of the disposal of the governor.
- 50:46Speaker 18: The governor can call them in. Generally they're used for
- 50:49Speaker 18: things like there's a big relief. There's a big difference,
- 50:51Speaker 18: not not as a as a police force, nor nor
- 50:54Speaker 18: should they.
- 50:54Speaker 3: There's a big difference I think between because somebody pointed
- 50:56Speaker 3: out to me, but I think there's a big difference
- 50:58Speaker 3: between the governor uh asking for help and the President
- 51:02Speaker 3: saying we're coming in. I think there. I mean that's
- 51:05Speaker 3: and I have a problem with that as well.
- 51:06Speaker 18: Yeah, you know, over the years, we've heard a lot
- 51:08Speaker 18: of talk about the First Amendment protecting our First Amendment rights,
- 51:11Speaker 18: and of course you know about the Second Amendment. Who
- 51:13Speaker 18: knew that in twenty twenty five the Third Amendment was
- 51:16Speaker 18: going to be a big issue.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Tex says, you know, some people hoopton holler during the
- 51:21Speaker 3: hegset speech, but more people, more people were silent, and
- 51:25Speaker 3: that speaks volumes to the quality and the content of
- 51:28Speaker 3: the speech.
- 51:28Speaker 18: I was more concerned about what the President said about
- 51:31Speaker 18: using our military against our own citizens, and we should
- 51:34Speaker 18: all be concerned about that.
- 51:35Speaker 3: All right, before we let you go, give us the
- 51:37Speaker 3: info on the on the dinner this week.
- 51:39Speaker 18: Have this Saturday, October fourth, at the Charleston Coliseum, a
- 51:42Speaker 18: convention center here in beautiful Charleston, West Virginia, at the

- 51:51Speaker 18: by Bob Thompson. And you can get those tickets there
- 51:53Speaker 18: going fast, but you can still get them at WV
