Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, everyone. Welcome to Inside the Birds pregame show. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher with Adam Kaplan, and of course we have
- 0:15Speaker 1: Greg Cosell. He's going to help us preview, give us
- 0:18Speaker 1: a tape-based preview of this big Week 5 matchup in
- 0:22Speaker 1: London for the Eagles as they face the Jacksonville Jaguars,
- 0:26Speaker 1: the red-hot Jacksonville Jaguars, who are 3-1. The Eagles, not
- 0:30Speaker 1: so red-hot, two-game losing streak, 2-2, coming off a really
- 0:34Speaker 1: tough loss to the Rams last Sunday. And If I
- 0:38Speaker 1: were to talk about the Rams loss being tough, Adam,
- 0:40Speaker 1: that would probably be ninth on the list of things
- 0:43Speaker 1: that are tough for the Eagles right now. The first
- 0:46Speaker 1: eight would be injuries here, there, everywhere, but obviously the
- 0:50Speaker 1: offensive line. We'll go through the injuries, but before I
- 0:53Speaker 1: get into each one, I mean, this is a really,
- 0:55Speaker 1: really perilous situation for them.
- 0:57Speaker 2: It is, and if we were doing power rankings, at
- 0:59Speaker 2: least mine, I'd have the Jaguars as the number one team,
- 1:02Speaker 2: so they're facing them. They're playing great football. We'll get
- 1:05Speaker 2: into the injuries. They're very healthy. The only one starter
- 1:08Speaker 2: is probably not going to play. But the Eagles ended
- 1:10Speaker 2: the week with 15 players on their injury report. There
- 1:12Speaker 2: is some good news, though. There was a strange ad
- 1:15Speaker 2: of Jalen Hurts, so he's going to be fine. I mean,
- 1:17Speaker 2: he's clear to play. But that was a surprise that
- 1:19Speaker 2: he was added after Friday's practice. So it's not good.
- 1:23Speaker 2: It's not ideal. The craziness of the changes of the
- 1:26Speaker 2: offensive line, which last week nobody knew about because Howie
- 1:30Speaker 2: Wilson wasn't thinking either that he's going to lose two linemen.
- 1:33Speaker 2: But it is what it is. They'll do the best
- 1:36Speaker 2: that they can. The coaches are on the spotlight. There's
- 1:38Speaker 2: no question about it. They have major challenges this week
- 1:41Speaker 2: on both sides of the football. And we'll get into that.
- 1:45Speaker 1: So let's recap it for Greg, because I know Greg
- 1:47Speaker 1: has no idea that all this happened. But Greg, Lane
- 1:50Speaker 1: Johnson retired. Cam Juergens got traded to Baltimore. And Drew
- 1:55Speaker 1: Kendall is going to be out for this game. Is
- 1:57Speaker 1: that all? Make sense?
- 1:59Speaker 3: You know, it's funny. I thought that Adam was a
- 2:00Speaker 3: few minutes late because I thought maybe he got a
- 2:02Speaker 3: call to try out for the offensive line for the
- 2:04Speaker 3: game this week, you know?
- 2:05Speaker 2: Hey, I'm down to 207.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I was going to say, he's lost too much weight, man.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll be a little different. And we'll get into
- 2:13Speaker 3: how that impacts this game in particular. But obviously, the
- 2:17Speaker 3: cohesion that you want in your O-line is not going
- 2:20Speaker 3: to be there. And that element is a big deal.
- 2:23Speaker 3: You can talk about individual players, but the cohesion is
- 2:26Speaker 3: the bigger issue. It is. All right.
- 2:29Speaker 1: So let's talk about these injuries for the Eagles. We'll
- 2:31Speaker 1: get to them on offense. Saquon Barkley is going to
- 2:34Speaker 1: continue to be out. Hollywood Brown is going to continue
- 2:38Speaker 1: to be out. Now, the good news– well, Devontae Smith,
- 2:40Speaker 1: I should say, also continuing to be out with the hamstring.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I know that there's some optimism that maybe next week
- 2:46Speaker 1: he'll be able to play, but out for this game
- 2:49Speaker 1: at least. But, Adam, there is the return of Dallas Goddard,
- 2:53Speaker 1: which I suppose is reason for some optimism. Huge.
- 2:57Speaker 3: It's huge, though.
- 2:57Speaker 1: I wouldn't go that far.
- 2:59Speaker 2: No, but we don't know what level of proficiency he'll
- 3:01Speaker 2: be at. But think about it.
- 3:02Speaker 1: He could be an all-pro, but if you can't block
- 3:04Speaker 1: it up, which we're going to get into.
- 3:07Speaker 2: You're not listening. They need someone who can actually move
- 3:09Speaker 2: and catch the football at that position. Johnny Muntz cannot
- 3:12Speaker 2: catch that position.
- 3:14Speaker 3: E.J.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Jenkins was out of the injury report, by the way,
- 3:16Speaker 2: although he's expected to be available. And Zach Ertz is
- 3:21Speaker 2: not a speed demon on being nice to Zach at
- 3:24Speaker 2: 36 years old. So they need somebody who can move.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Dallas Goddard would be that guy. Now, what level of
- 3:29Speaker 2: proficiency is that? Who the hell knows? He's dealing with
- 3:33Speaker 2: what I understand is a grade two MCL sprain. It's
- 3:35Speaker 2: a moderate sprain. That's a three to four week injury.
- 3:37Speaker 2: He's around that mark. That's why, you know, I was
- 3:39Speaker 2: telling our Patreon folks earlier this week, look out for
- 3:42Speaker 2: him before practice starts, because this is around the time
- 3:44Speaker 2: he could start working. You never know. And getting him
- 3:47Speaker 2: back is big. And also, by the way, Don Taving Wicks,
- 3:49Speaker 2: who had an injury scare on Thursday.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:53Speaker 2: He took all his normal reps. He does have, he
- 3:55Speaker 2: does have a game status as it, so he's going
- 3:59Speaker 2: to play unless something happens in pregame warm-ups. But they
- 4:02Speaker 2: have a lot of soft tissue injuries, a ton of them.
- 4:06Speaker 2: And this is one of the best training staffs that
- 4:08Speaker 2: they've put together in years. If you remember, Dr. Peter
- 4:12Speaker 2: DeLuca left, then he came back. Tom Hunkley came. He
- 4:16Speaker 2: was with the Eagles many years ago, then went to Minnesota,
- 4:19Speaker 2: I think, with Brad Childress. He's back. Like, they have
- 4:22Speaker 2: a great training staff. I don't quite understand why this
- 4:25Speaker 2: has all happened this week. It could just be one
- 4:27Speaker 2: of those things.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I mean, you know, every once in a while it happens.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it does. Bad luck, but they're going to have
- 4:33Speaker 2: some reinforcements. It doesn't mean they're going to win the game,
- 4:35Speaker 2: but they have a little better chance.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Right, right.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And I do understand your point on Goddard, and I
- 4:40Speaker 1: was listening to you, but my point is Dallas Goddard
- 4:43Speaker 1: had a great year last year. He caught 11 touchdowns.
- 4:45Speaker 1: He was very functional in the past game. Probably their
- 4:49Speaker 1: best weapon in the past game with his 11 touchdowns.
- 4:51Speaker 1: And what were we saying about the Eagles offense all
- 4:53Speaker 1: year last year? It stunk. Not for his fault, but
- 4:56Speaker 1: because they can't run, they can't block, and their passes
- 4:59Speaker 1: are sporadic. So my point is, yes, him coming back helps.
- 5:01Speaker 1: It gives them a body. It doesn't give me any
- 5:03Speaker 1: more confidence that they're three to seven points better because
- 5:06Speaker 1: of it. It's just a guy out there. But their
- 5:09Speaker 1: offensive line issues are actually worse than they've been, and
- 5:12Speaker 1: we'll get to that now. Drew Kendall was in the
- 5:14Speaker 1: medical tent last week. Went back in the game, wasn't
- 5:17Speaker 1: much said about it, but obviously popped up on the
- 5:20Speaker 1: injury report and didn't practice this week for a knee. So...
- 5:23Speaker 1: This offensive line is probably going to look, Greg, I
- 5:26Speaker 1: promise we'll get to you in a second.
- 5:27Speaker 3: No, it's fine.
- 5:29Speaker 1: We've got to get through the minutiae here of what
- 5:31Speaker 1: this offensive line is going to look like. So it's
- 5:34Speaker 1: obviously the Eagles signed Jake Majors to the 53 on Friday.
- 5:38Speaker 1: So he's going to play and we're going to either
- 5:41Speaker 1: see is Jake Majors the center with Willie Lampkin at
- 5:44Speaker 1: left guard? Is Jake Majors the left guard with Willie
- 5:47Speaker 1: Lampkin at center? Either way, you package that with Markel Bell. Now, again,
- 5:51Speaker 1: starting for just the second time in his career against
- 5:54Speaker 1: this Jacksonville front. Adam, it's going to be tough. I mean,
- 5:58Speaker 1: this is the worst situation you could have imagined for
- 6:01Speaker 1: the Eagles.
- 6:02Speaker 2: It would seem like Majors would be at center and
- 6:06Speaker 2: Willie Lampkin at left guard. By the way, this is
- 6:08Speaker 2: actually another piece of minor good news. Fred Johnson has
- 6:13Speaker 2: no game status designation, so he's clear to play with
- 6:16Speaker 2: that knee issue. And he's another guy who got hurt
- 6:18Speaker 2: in practice the last couple weeks. That's another epidemic they've had.
- 6:21Speaker 2: These guys getting hurt in practice, that doesn't happen a lot.
- 6:24Speaker 2: But that's good. He's going to be available. Now, I
- 6:28Speaker 2: still believe that it's going to be Markel Bell, based
- 6:31Speaker 2: on several factors, in addition to them wanting to know
- 6:34Speaker 2: what he can do. This is a tough front. Greg
- 6:36Speaker 2: will break down the front. But they're going to at
- 6:38Speaker 2: least have more players for this game. As you said,
- 6:40Speaker 2: it's not going to be a seven-point difference, but they
- 6:43Speaker 2: could be more competitive. Goddard could catch the football. We
- 6:46Speaker 2: can debate how good of a blocker he is. He
- 6:47Speaker 2: used to be very good. But at least they're going
- 6:49Speaker 2: to have more players. But as you noted, and you're right,
- 6:52Speaker 2: the interior of this offensive line is scary. Like this
- 6:54Speaker 2: is the center and left guard. You're going to have
- 6:58Speaker 2: two guys who have shorter than 32-inch arms. Think about that.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Not good.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Against a guy like Eric Armstead in the middle of
- 7:05Speaker 1: the– who has long arms, if I'm not mistaken.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Armstead has long arms.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Greg, I would love to ask you for a quick
- 7:13Speaker 1: tape breakdown of either Willie Lampkin or Jake Majors, but
- 7:16Speaker 1: I know not to because the tape doesn't exist. Well,
- 7:19Speaker 1: you know what? Wait, hold on one sec.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Is Jake Majors a rookie or a second-year guy?
- 7:24Speaker 1: Second-year, yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 3: I believe I did Jake Majors coming out of Texas.
- 7:30Speaker 3: So he would have been in the 2025 draft, correct? Correct, yeah.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I'm almost sure I did Jake Majors. I'm pulling out
- 7:37Speaker 3: my notes. Okay.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I believe he started 36 games.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Maybe I didn't do him. I don't know. I can't remember.
- 7:43Speaker 3: But Jake Majors. I did him.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Go. Do it. What do you got?
- 7:48Speaker 3: I said Majors is not as big as you'd ideally like,
- 7:53Speaker 3: and he possesses short arms, and those two measurables could
- 7:56Speaker 3: well take him off the board for some teams. And
- 7:58Speaker 3: there is no question he is an offensive center only prospect.
- 8:01Speaker 3: But the tape tells the story of a quality OC
- 8:04Speaker 3: who played with outstanding vision and awareness and understanding. and
- 8:07Speaker 3: a fundamental execution and control that showed up snap after snap.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Myers was an elite one-on-one pass protector with a refined
- 8:14Speaker 3: understanding of how to use his hands. He struck early
- 8:17Speaker 3: with his hands inside and played with a strong base
- 8:20Speaker 3: to control bigger de-tackles, and there were not many pass
- 8:22Speaker 3: protection snaps in which he was beat. The concerns with
- 8:29Speaker 3: Majors result from his size and arm length, but the
- 8:32Speaker 3: tape shows a higher-level OC prospect, with consistent execution as
- 8:35Speaker 3: both a run blocker and pass protector. And my sense
- 8:38Speaker 3: is majors will find a home in the NFL. Good.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Guess what? He found it. Yeah, it was on the
- 8:46Speaker 1: practice squad for the Eagles up until now, and now
- 8:48Speaker 1: he's on the 53, and we'll see. I mean, having
- 8:52Speaker 1: read all that, Greg, I'm sure you would still have
- 8:54Speaker 1: some real curiosities and perhaps concerns about how he's going
- 8:57Speaker 1: to play left guard.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Well, I don't think he's a guard, but that's my opinion.
- 9:03Speaker 3: But obviously, don't forget, he started 56 games at Texas,
- 9:07Speaker 3: which was a Texas program record. So he's played a
- 9:10Speaker 3: lot of football against quality opponents. For sure.
- 9:14Speaker 2: For sure.
- 9:15Speaker 1: So that is the situation facing the Eagles offensive line
- 9:18Speaker 1: and their injuries on offense. On defense, they will again
- 9:22Speaker 1: be without Marcus Epps. So you'll expect to see some
- 9:24Speaker 1: Michael Carter II there. Jonathan Grenard, Adam, this one's interesting
- 9:28Speaker 1: because he's I think that that's, that's encouraging, but it's
- 9:33Speaker 1: sort of discouraging in the bigger picture of once again,
- 9:37Speaker 1: you don't still have a 100% Jonathan.
- 9:38Speaker 2: By the way, he didn't practice all week, but yet
- 9:41Speaker 2: he's questionable.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:42Speaker 2: That was also, that is a questionable designation. Now they,
- 9:46Speaker 2: it is literally. Now there's what, you know, these deferential
- 9:51Speaker 2: treatment where you, you let that like veterans, you're okay
- 9:54Speaker 2: with it. Young players. They don't, they never play. They
- 9:57Speaker 2: never play when they don't practice, but you know, he's,
- 10:00Speaker 2: you know what he does. He's an edge rusher. He'll
- 10:03Speaker 2: test it before the game. That's, that's the way you
- 10:05Speaker 2: handle these things. And if he's able to go, go,
- 10:08Speaker 2: but you can't have a setback. Like the guy couldn't
- 10:11Speaker 2: come back to the game. They held him out of
- 10:13Speaker 2: practice all week. What is the point? Like of, of
- 10:16Speaker 2: you'd have to, he better have some, he may have
- 10:18Speaker 2: a great pregame workout in Tottenham because that's not good.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Yep. And to your point on Wicks, you know, him
- 10:26Speaker 1: only being limited in practice on Friday with the hamstring,
- 10:30Speaker 1: who knows how limited, I mean, he may have done very,
- 10:32Speaker 1: very little because they're hoping that the extra, that the
- 10:36Speaker 1: rest will get him healthy, but he could go out,
- 10:38Speaker 1: run first two routes and not feel right. I mean, that's,
- 10:41Speaker 1: to me, it's, it's, it's still, it's not a given.
- 10:43Speaker 1: He's going to be able to be out there and
- 10:44Speaker 1: be as effective.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Well, the thing also, sometimes clubs do this, that when
- 10:49Speaker 2: the guy's got a hamstring injury, which he suffered during practice,
- 10:52Speaker 2: obviously very minor because there's no way he would have
- 10:54Speaker 2: worked Friday. I don't care what he did. But sometimes
- 10:57Speaker 2: what they do is they purposely limit the player the
- 11:00Speaker 2: next day because they don't want to have a setback.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Just go out there and test it. Okay, you did fine.
- 11:04Speaker 2: We're going to pull you out. That's a plausible situation.
- 11:08Speaker 2: But at least they're going to have him. You make
- 11:11Speaker 2: a fair point of how many snaps he can handle.
- 11:13Speaker 2: We don't know. and they're shorthanded. Smitty's out. Oh, by
- 11:18Speaker 2: the way, Andrew DiCecco did a video of Devontae on Thursday.
- 11:23Speaker 2: This is important. He was actually working out vigorously. That's good.
- 11:27Speaker 2: The hope is, at the very least, he could start
- 11:30Speaker 2: practicing when they return next week to face Carolina, see
- 11:33Speaker 2: where he's at. So now he's finally, we could say
- 11:36Speaker 2: he's getting closer. That's a very positive sign that he
- 11:38Speaker 2: was moving around like that.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Correct. More positive signs on defense. The Eagles will have
- 11:43Speaker 1: Zach Bond. He was a full participant. He even said
- 11:46Speaker 1: he's ready to go. He's good. Feels great. Jihad Campbell,
- 11:49Speaker 1: full participant. No injury designation on him as well, despite
- 11:53Speaker 1: the knee issue that he had throughout the week. We
- 11:55Speaker 1: already mentioned Goddard. Hurts is good to go with the calf.
- 11:59Speaker 1: EJ Jenkins was on with a toe. He practiced full.
- 12:01Speaker 1: No designation for him as well, along with Fred Johnson
- 12:04Speaker 1: and Quinion Mitchell. That's huge. This was the biggest thing.
- 12:07Speaker 1: The guys on defense, to get Vaughn, Campbell, and Mitchell
- 12:11Speaker 1: is huge because as we get into– breaking down this
- 12:15Speaker 1: game and real quick from a Jaguars angle, I believe
- 12:18Speaker 1: they have a cornerback out, right? That's it.
- 12:20Speaker 2: That's no, just, there's one of the starting safeties. Who's not,
- 12:23Speaker 2: he's concussion. He didn't get cleared.
- 12:25Speaker 3: So Brown is, is good to go.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Brown's expected to go last time. I'll double check, but
- 12:30Speaker 2: I think he's playing. Yeah, he's good.
- 12:32Speaker 1: He's clear.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 1: The good thing is if the Eagles are going to
- 12:37Speaker 1: have any chance of winning this game, it's going to
- 12:40Speaker 1: have to be their defense that, Either gives them turnovers again,
- 12:45Speaker 1: like it did against the Rams shuts down the Jaguars offense.
- 12:48Speaker 1: We know there's no Greg, there's no denying this is
- 12:51Speaker 1: going to be an offensive struggle for the Eagles. So
- 12:54Speaker 1: they need their defense to really play an A plus game.
- 12:57Speaker 3: It's one of those classic games and we see them
- 12:59Speaker 3: in the NFL all the time and it doesn't always
- 13:01Speaker 3: play out the way it looks on paper, but it's
- 13:03Speaker 3: one of those classic games where it looks like the
- 13:06Speaker 3: Eagles are clearly the lesser team in terms of talent
- 13:09Speaker 3: right now playing against a better team. that doesn't automatically
- 13:14Speaker 3: mean they're going to lose the game. But when you
- 13:16Speaker 3: look at, when you analyze the game based on what
- 13:18Speaker 3: we've seen, and that's the only way I can do it,
- 13:21Speaker 3: you know, it, it, it does not look like the Eagles.
- 13:25Speaker 3: First of all, the Eagles don't really have an explosive
- 13:27Speaker 3: weapon on offense and defensively they've, you know, they're not bad,
- 13:33Speaker 3: but you know, they're, they're, they haven't been great.
- 13:36Speaker 1: So they have not played to their standard for sure.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Correct.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Correct.
- 13:39Speaker 3: So, You look at this game from the offensive standpoint
- 13:43Speaker 3: and you think to yourself, how are they going to
- 13:46Speaker 3: score 20 points? Right. Especially against a good defense. Based
- 13:50Speaker 3: on what we've seen and based on the fact that
- 13:53Speaker 3: it's a totally revamped O-line, there's no explosive weapon at
- 13:57Speaker 3: wide receiver. There's no explosive weapon in the backfield. As
- 14:01Speaker 3: much as we all love Dallas Goddard, let's say he's 150%,
- 14:03Speaker 3: and I'm just being sarcastic, but he's still not a
- 14:09Speaker 3: truly explosive weapon, the way you think of explosive weapons.
- 14:13Speaker 3: So you just think, okay, how are they really going
- 14:16Speaker 3: to move the ball with any consistency, not only given
- 14:19Speaker 3: the lack of explosive weapons, but the fact that they've
- 14:22Speaker 3: had clear issues with the tactical element of the game
- 14:25Speaker 3: in dealing with pressure fronts and pressures. Right.
- 14:29Speaker 1: And even in the tactical element of the game of
- 14:31Speaker 1: just running and getting their run game going. And Adam,
- 14:34Speaker 1: it looks like Will Shipley, is going to be your
- 14:36Speaker 1: primary ball carrier. But both Carson Steele and Damian Pierce
- 14:40Speaker 1: were added to the 53-man roster. So I have a
- 14:43Speaker 1: feeling there'll be some activity among the backups here. But
- 14:48Speaker 1: as you've detailed many times, Adam, Pierce is not really
- 14:51Speaker 1: the greatest fit for an outside zone team. He's an inside,
- 14:56Speaker 1: pounded-up-the-middle runner. So you wonder if the coaches– I've wondered
- 15:00Speaker 1: all week if the coaches are going to just try
- 15:02Speaker 1: to run what they run and hope for the best,
- 15:05Speaker 1: or if they are going to really have locked themselves
- 15:07Speaker 1: in the room saying, what is the game plan we
- 15:10Speaker 1: can create to try to give ourselves a chance? Because
- 15:13Speaker 1: it has to be different with all their injury. I
- 15:16Speaker 1: feel that way. Maybe they don't. But I would think
- 15:19Speaker 1: that they really have to bring out some different or
- 15:21Speaker 1: interesting stuff that caters to the strength of the personnel
- 15:24Speaker 1: that they're dealing with. Sure.
- 15:26Speaker 2: It's going to be a committee. Shipley's up first. And
- 15:28Speaker 2: what I found interesting is Pierce and Steele were signed
- 15:31Speaker 2: off the practice squad. They weren't elevated. By the way,
- 15:34Speaker 2: we should mention Andy Dalton was cut. It just didn't
- 15:37Speaker 2: work out. They owe him $ 1. 5 million, fully guaranteed, of
- 15:41Speaker 2: the $ 4 million. Carolina's on the hook for $ 2. 5 million.
- 15:44Speaker 2: And UR Bernard, by the way, was put on the
- 15:45Speaker 2: rare practice squad injured list. And Steele had that one
- 15:51Speaker 2: game where he caught a ton of passes. I know
- 15:53Speaker 2: Hurts doesn't like to check the ball down, but hopefully
- 15:56Speaker 2: if Steele does get some playing time, he can do
- 15:58Speaker 2: that for him. It was a pretty dynamic game. I
- 16:00Speaker 2: know it was preseason. And Pierce is a straight-ahead runner who, remember,
- 16:03Speaker 2: he had the one big year for Houston.
- 16:05Speaker 3: He was a starter for Houston. I believe it was
- 16:08Speaker 3: his rookie season, too.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Yes.
- 16:10Speaker 2: And then they changed the zone. They went to West
- 16:14Speaker 2: Coast offense, and he was never the same. And Kent
- 16:18Speaker 2: City brought him in, didn't work, and here he is.
- 16:20Speaker 2: But he had a good training camp. The Eagles like him. Actually,
- 16:23Speaker 2: from what I understand, the Eagles had a pretty good
- 16:24Speaker 2: grade on him for the draft. We'll see how he does.
- 16:27Speaker 2: They're going to need him because Will Shipley is not
- 16:29Speaker 2: a volume running back. He's just not.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:33Speaker 1: And one of the issues you'd see here, Craig, is
- 16:35Speaker 1: that if we're going to discuss getting Damian Pierce on
- 16:37Speaker 1: the field, inside runner, up the gut runner, but that
- 16:40Speaker 1: is exactly right now where the Eagles are hurting most
- 16:44Speaker 1: on the offensive line. I mean, I'm not expecting a great,
- 16:47Speaker 1: you know, people moving defensively. driving off the ball from
- 16:50Speaker 1: Lampkin and from Jake Majors, whereas your biggest guys and
- 16:54Speaker 1: your best guys, your tackle, I shouldn't say Markel Bell's
- 16:57Speaker 1: the best, but he is clearly a monstrous man who
- 16:59Speaker 1: can move people, and the same thing with Mailata. You
- 17:02Speaker 1: would think if you could get your run game going,
- 17:04Speaker 1: you'd want to attack the Warriors.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll be interesting. I mean, again, we don't know
- 17:08Speaker 3: what the division of labor will be in the backfield,
- 17:11Speaker 3: but Pierce is... You know, the player I'd compare him
- 17:13Speaker 3: to stylistically, again, style I'm talking about would be a
- 17:16Speaker 3: Kyron Williams. Square your shoulders, get downhill. That's stylistically the
- 17:21Speaker 3: kind of back that he is. But he's strong. He's
- 17:23Speaker 3: got some power to him. I mean, he's close to
- 17:25Speaker 3: 220 pounds. He's not a little back. Right.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Greg, what do teams, when you watch tape of all teams,
- 17:32Speaker 1: because we always talk about the Eagles having an elite
- 17:34Speaker 1: offensive line. A lot of teams don't. What do you
- 17:38Speaker 1: see teams do when they have to compensate for, a
- 17:41Speaker 1: substandard offensive line? Do they, is it extra blockers? Is
- 17:44Speaker 1: it scheming? What can the Eagles do in this situation?
- 17:47Speaker 3: Well, you can do multiple things. Obviously, you know, you
- 17:50Speaker 3: can add an extra blocker. I don't know if the
- 17:52Speaker 3: Eagles would think about putting out a sixth offensive lineman.
- 17:55Speaker 3: I don't think they, my sense is that's not really
- 17:58Speaker 3: the way they see it. But then what you try
- 18:00Speaker 3: to do is you have to create angles in your
- 18:02Speaker 3: run game. You know, whether it's with misdirection, whether, you know,
- 18:06Speaker 3: those kinds of things, because it has to become angles.
- 18:09Speaker 3: You know, look, keep in mind that Willie Lampkin could
- 18:11Speaker 3: be blocking Eric Armstead a number of times in this game.
- 18:14Speaker 3: And you're dealing with a guy that's 6'7, 6'8, you know,
- 18:17Speaker 3: versus a guy that's 5'10. And it's going to look like,
- 18:19Speaker 3: you know, he's blocking his son. You know, he's trying
- 18:22Speaker 3: to block, you know, that, you know, Armstead's playing against
- 18:25Speaker 3: his son. You know, so, you know, that's the way
- 18:27Speaker 3: you have to try to do it with your run game.
- 18:29Speaker 3: And by the way, that might be, that's almost a
- 18:33Speaker 3: better argument for gap scheme than for zone. Because gap
- 18:36Speaker 3: scheme involves angles much more than zone. So, you know,
- 18:40Speaker 3: you have to make adjustments based on your talent.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:44Speaker 3: You know, and even Majors, you know, Majors is a
- 18:46Speaker 3: guy that is not as big as you like and
- 18:48Speaker 3: he's got short arms. So, you know, to start battling
- 18:51Speaker 3: interior defenders who are much bigger is a difficult thing
- 18:55Speaker 3: to do. So we'll see, you know, what their run
- 18:58Speaker 3: game looks like. Obviously, foundationally, they'd love it to be
- 19:01Speaker 3: a zone run game, but that might not be the
- 19:04Speaker 3: best way to go with the group that they're putting out.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Which is what I've thought all week, does this coaching
- 19:08Speaker 1: staff sort of regroup and say, hey, we're trying to
- 19:11Speaker 1: win a game. You know, the stuff we're trying to
- 19:14Speaker 1: implement for the long haul is not going to work.
- 19:16Speaker 3: You know, keep in mind that we talk about Armstead, but,
- 19:20Speaker 3: you know, a lot of their guys who are rotational
- 19:22Speaker 3: players are tall as well. Oro Oro from Clemson is
- 19:26Speaker 3: about 6'4, 6'5. Matt Dickerson is tall. Devon Hamilton is
- 19:31Speaker 3: the shortest of the group, but he's a good player. So,
- 19:33Speaker 3: you know, they've got a tall defensive line.
- 19:40Speaker 1: The misdirection thing you brought up is very interesting, Greg,
- 19:42Speaker 1: because the Eagles did have a couple of decent runs
- 19:45Speaker 1: last week against the Rams using some misdirection or wide
- 19:49Speaker 1: receivers motioning. So maybe that is, and that's supposed to
- 19:52Speaker 1: be a big element.
- 19:53Speaker 3: You're trying to make it so that the defensive line,
- 19:57Speaker 3: you know, in a sense has a moment of indecision
- 20:00Speaker 3: and then therefore you can get, get the angles and
- 20:03Speaker 3: get the leverage. It's my guess is, and again, I'm
- 20:08Speaker 3: not an offensive line guru. Maybe Willie Lampkin being short,
- 20:11Speaker 3: you know, he has natural leverage being short, no question,
- 20:14Speaker 3: you know, and everybody got excited in the preseason when
- 20:16Speaker 3: he had those snaps where he moved people. I'd be
- 20:19Speaker 3: surprised if he consistently moves Armstead in this game or,
- 20:23Speaker 3: you know, the other thing too is in Trayvon Walker's
- 20:27Speaker 3: playing a lot more inside in their pass rush, you know,
- 20:31Speaker 3: their pass rush D line. So he's played, probably 12
- 20:35Speaker 3: to 15% more than a year ago inside when they
- 20:38Speaker 3: go to their third down in their pure pass situations. Right.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Okay. Definitely something to note because that can cause a
- 20:46Speaker 1: lot of mismatches when people do that. I mean, we
- 20:48Speaker 1: saw that with Brandon Graham for years for a while. Adam,
- 20:52Speaker 1: it's fair to say this is somewhat of a litmus
- 20:57Speaker 1: test as far as how do you respond to adversity
- 21:00Speaker 1: when you are Sean Mannion, Josh Grisard, but also The
- 21:05Speaker 1: Ryan Mahaffey's who have to design the run game, the
- 21:07Speaker 1: Chris Cooper's who have to design the protection schemes. They're
- 21:11Speaker 1: kind of under heat right now because some of that
- 21:13Speaker 1: hasn't looked good. A lot of it hasn't looked good
- 21:15Speaker 1: over the first three to four weeks.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Yeah, not all of it is injury related. There's no question.
- 21:19Speaker 2: They're learning this personnel. Mahaffey's new here. The other guys
- 21:23Speaker 2: you mentioned are new here. They're still getting used to
- 21:26Speaker 2: the personnel. It takes time. But you only have six.
- 21:30Speaker 2: You only have 17 of these games. So this is
- 21:33Speaker 2: a tough deal.
- 21:33Speaker 3: And it's brand new personnel now from what they started
- 21:36Speaker 3: this season with.
- 21:37Speaker 2: A lot new, yeah. And the interior of the offensive line,
- 21:41Speaker 2: two guys who just, you know, you never thought they'd
- 21:43Speaker 2: be playing. In fact, you didn't want them to play
- 21:45Speaker 2: for the coaches. You liked that they were good stories.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Both Lampkin majors were great stories, by the way. Had
- 21:50Speaker 2: really good training camps, but they're deep backups. Now, Willie Lampkin,
- 21:55Speaker 2: you know, you were to the point where you're like, okay, well,
- 21:58Speaker 2: maybe this guy will be our 11th lineman. Then all
- 22:01Speaker 2: of a sudden now he's starting. So you can't make
- 22:03Speaker 2: that up. There's no way they would have known that,
- 22:05Speaker 2: and they were never thinking that way. But he has
- 22:08Speaker 2: been with these coaches. These guys have been with these
- 22:10Speaker 2: coaches for a while. They know what's expected of them.
- 22:14Speaker 2: And it's not like they could turn to anyone else.
- 22:15Speaker 2: They have to do the job. There's really literally nowhere
- 22:17Speaker 2: else to go because think about it, right? Okay, Fred
- 22:19Speaker 2: Johnson's been cleared. But other than that, Michael Morris is
- 22:24Speaker 2: a project. I don't see it. And, you know, down
- 22:30Speaker 2: the line, Juku, we'll see, based on what they've done,
- 22:34Speaker 2: they still could elevate him because they signed two guys
- 22:37Speaker 2: off the practice squad. Those aren't on elevation, so they
- 22:39Speaker 2: could actually use– you would think they would, being that
- 22:42Speaker 2: Fred's been hurt. He's been out a little bit. And
- 22:45Speaker 2: Juku can play inside, who started at right tackle a
- 22:48Speaker 2: couple games for the Titans a few years ago.
- 22:51Speaker 1: All right, so, yeah, Greg, I would say– outside of
- 22:57Speaker 1: maybe the real diehard, I think most passionate football fans
- 23:00Speaker 1: in America don't know much about the Jaguars' defense from
- 23:04Speaker 1: a personnel standpoint, maybe outside of Travis Hunter, and about
- 23:08Speaker 1: Anthony Campanile, their defensive coordinator. What stands out about the
- 23:13Speaker 1: personnel and also Campanile as a DC?
- 23:15Speaker 3: Well, let's start with Campanile. He's one of the better
- 23:18Speaker 3: young defensive minds in the game. He's a very interesting
- 23:21Speaker 3: mix of being an aggressive Brian Flores type coach with
- 23:25Speaker 3: all kinds of fronts and aggression and almost a Vic
- 23:28Speaker 3: Fangio adjacent kind of coach where he plays his own
- 23:31Speaker 3: concepts and rushes for. So it's a very interesting mix
- 23:35Speaker 3: and he's very.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Good at it.
- 23:36Speaker 3: And that's kind of the way he sees himself. When
- 23:40Speaker 3: it comes to personnel, they've got good personnel. You know,
- 23:44Speaker 3: we know about their D line to some extent because
- 23:46Speaker 3: they've got Trayvon Walker, who was a number one pick
- 23:48Speaker 3: in a draft. They've got Josh Hines Allen, who's a
- 23:51Speaker 3: very good edge rusher. They've got Armstead who's been in
- 23:53Speaker 3: the league a long time and is a very solid player. Uh,
- 23:57Speaker 3: Devon Hamilton is the Ohio state kid, a very good
- 23:59Speaker 3: interior run defender. They've got good depth on the interior. Um, when,
- 24:04Speaker 3: as I mentioned, they do go to a sort of
- 24:06Speaker 3: a NASCAR front when, uh, often when it comes down
- 24:10Speaker 3: to third down and pure pass and Walker will move
- 24:13Speaker 3: inside a very overlooked player who's been in the league
- 24:16Speaker 3: a number of years, but is a high intensity good
- 24:19Speaker 3: player is Dennis Gardeck. Um, And he plays in their
- 24:22Speaker 3: base and he plays in their sub packages. And he's
- 24:25Speaker 3: a good pass rusher, but also has the ability to
- 24:27Speaker 3: drop into coverage. This year through four games, they've been
- 24:31Speaker 3: rotating at the corner position, three players, Travis Hunter, Monteric Brown,
- 24:36Speaker 3: and a player I really like, Jerrion Jones. And Jones
- 24:40Speaker 3: can play both outside and in the slot. And sometimes
- 24:43Speaker 3: he does it in place of Jordan Lewis. It's a
- 24:46Speaker 3: good secondary. Eric Murray and Antonio Johnson are the safeties.
- 24:51Speaker 3: and they play nickel and dime. So this is a
- 24:53Speaker 3: good defense, really, with a good coach that can do
- 24:57Speaker 3: a lot of different things.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Sounds like, and I like that, the way you phrase it,
- 25:04Speaker 1: it almost sounds like he marries the best of both worlds,
- 25:06Speaker 1: because Flores and Fangio couldn't be any different. But if
- 25:09Speaker 1: you can have your defense execute both of those, that's special.
- 25:13Speaker 3: And one player I didn't mention, who's a very good
- 25:15Speaker 3: player for years, is Foye Iluokun. And he's always among
- 25:19Speaker 3: the leaders in tackles. He was a safety in college
- 25:21Speaker 3: at Yale. He's an athletic player, an incredibly smart player.
- 25:25Speaker 3: And he's been a really good player for a lot
- 25:27Speaker 3: of years.
- 25:28Speaker 2: So, by the way, filling in for Mary should be
- 25:32Speaker 2: Ryan Lane, who was a six-round pick last year out
- 25:37Speaker 2: of Navy, the Naval Academy. So he filled in for
- 25:40Speaker 2: him during the game. So other than that, though, Jeff,
- 25:43Speaker 2: they're healthy like that. It's just the tale of two teams,
- 25:45Speaker 2: one team terribly unhealthy and the other team healthy.
- 25:48Speaker 1: It's almost rare anymore. The Eagles play a team that
- 25:50Speaker 1: has this much health. I mean, it's. And then one
- 25:55Speaker 1: other thing.
- 25:55Speaker 3: To keep in mind, guys, as we just dig a
- 25:57Speaker 3: little deeper is they're very good against the run. They
- 26:00Speaker 3: they've allowed the second few shards for carrying the NFL 3.3.
- 26:04Speaker 3: I mean, this is a tough team to run against.
- 26:06Speaker 2: This is not. They possess the ball a lot, a lot.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Yeah. So, I mean, you know, you're dealing with, this
- 26:12Speaker 3: is a good defense. I mean, like I said, To
- 26:15Speaker 3: use the cliche, it's why you play the games, you
- 26:17Speaker 3: never know. But when you just look at this game
- 26:19Speaker 3: and analyze it based on the process of analysis, that's
- 26:22Speaker 3: all we're doing. Hey, we know some games turn out
- 26:27Speaker 3: and we go, gee, how did that happen? Exactly. So
- 26:30Speaker 3: you don't know. But all I'm saying is as you
- 26:31Speaker 3: analyze the game based on the four games that have
- 26:34Speaker 3: been played and what the tape shows, this has a
- 26:39Speaker 3: mismatched feel to it. But does it turn out that way?
- 26:43Speaker 3: We'll find out. you know, Sunday morning, but it's, it
- 26:46Speaker 3: has a mismatched feel to it.

- 29:49Speaker 1: when we flip it and talk about the Eagles defense
- 29:51Speaker 1: versus Jags offense, I almost feel like I'm saying the
- 29:54Speaker 1: same thing. I don't know if most passionate football fans
- 29:57Speaker 1: outside of the Jacksonville area who aren't Jags fans know
- 30:01Speaker 1: a whole lot about some of the best players on
- 30:03Speaker 1: the Jags. Bayshul Tootin, the running back, Parker Washington, the
- 30:07Speaker 1: wide receiver. We know him from his Penn State connections,
- 30:09Speaker 1: but I don't know people and how much people knew
- 30:12Speaker 1: about him in Florida, you know, other than he's been
- 30:13Speaker 1: there for a couple of years. And Brenton Strange, right?
- 30:16Speaker 1: And Nate Berkshire. I mean, they don't have guys who
- 30:19Speaker 1: you're seeing in advertisements and playing in multiple Pro Bowls,
- 30:22Speaker 1: but they do have Trevor Lawrence, and he seems to
- 30:23Speaker 1: be Very comfortable in Leon Cohen's offense.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Yeah, no, this is actually a pretty good offense. And
- 30:29Speaker 3: they have three quality wide receivers. And they do play
- 30:34Speaker 3: a lot of 11 personnel. And Parker Washington is a really,
- 30:37Speaker 3: really good player. I think he's going to become one
- 30:40Speaker 3: of the better receivers in the league. But Brian Thomas,
- 30:42Speaker 3: Jacoby Myers, they can line up with three wide outs
- 30:45Speaker 3: and be very, very good. Tootin has explosive speed to him.
- 30:50Speaker 3: He's a good back. Then they bring in Chris Rodriguez
- 30:53Speaker 3: at times. He's the physical kind of grinder. Um, I'm
- 30:57Speaker 3: a big Brenton strange fan. Um, I like him a
- 30:59Speaker 3: lot and they'll play a lot. You know, they will
- 31:01Speaker 3: play at a 12 personnel, even at times 13 personnel. Um,
- 31:06Speaker 3: they made a change this year, moving Anton Harrison from
- 31:09Speaker 3: right tackle to left tackle. And for the most part,
- 31:11Speaker 3: he's fared very, very well, but they're starting the rookie
- 31:14Speaker 3: Emmanuel pregnant from Oregon at left guard. He's been up
- 31:17Speaker 3: and down. He's been beaten at times in past protection. Um, And,
- 31:21Speaker 3: you know, maybe that's an area that the Eagles can exploit.
- 31:24Speaker 3: You know, if Jalen Carter or Mario Jomo can, you know,
- 31:28Speaker 3: Jomo has been the best defensive tackle on the Eagles
- 31:30Speaker 3: through the first four games without question. But, you know,
- 31:33Speaker 3: maybe Carter can get back to being what we know
- 31:36Speaker 3: Carter can be. And maybe that's an area they can exploit.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Adam, it might be interesting to see now that Campbell
- 31:43Speaker 1: and Bond are healthy, will Vic Fangio, as he sort
- 31:46Speaker 1: of hinted, I mean, he was just answering a question
- 31:49Speaker 1: honestly about playing Jeremiah Trotter. Yeah, I could. We'll see
- 31:52Speaker 1: if he decides to use Jeremiah Trotter in a role
- 31:55Speaker 1: at all on the field on Sunday, if he just
- 31:57Speaker 1: goes back to using his two stack linebackers.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Remember we talked about leading up to the season because
- 32:03Speaker 2: Trot had a great camp and Campbell played in the
- 32:06Speaker 2: preseason because he had to. He just did not have
- 32:08Speaker 2: a great training camp. So we mused, I wonder if Vic,
- 32:12Speaker 2: we both said the same thing, could Vic find a
- 32:14Speaker 2: role when Campbell's ready to be the full-time starter, which
- 32:18Speaker 2: he is, is there a role that you could find
- 32:21Speaker 2: for Trotter? And Vic is very matter-of-fact. When he shoots
- 32:24Speaker 2: stuff down, he shoots it down. Like he goes, nope, nope, nope.
- 32:27Speaker 2: He didn't shoot it down. He goes, maybe. He said, possibly.
- 32:29Speaker 2: He said, possibly. So it's something to look for because
- 32:33Speaker 2: Greg outlined very well on Inside the Tape, the defensive edition,
- 32:35Speaker 2: which you could find on all of our platforms, about
- 32:38Speaker 2: Trotter and how well he's played.
- 32:40Speaker 3: He's a very good run defender. At this moment in time,
- 32:43Speaker 3: he's a better run defender than Jihad Campbell. And you
- 32:45Speaker 3: can well see him play in those situations.
- 32:47Speaker 2: He's way more instinctive, Jeff. So, to send it back
- 32:50Speaker 2: to you, it's something to watch. That's, to me, one
- 32:53Speaker 2: of the under-the-radar storylines. Do they find a role for
- 32:57Speaker 2: Trott Jr. going forward?
- 32:59Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it wouldn't surprise me if Trott, we
- 33:02Speaker 1: saw him on some first and second downs, depending on
- 33:05Speaker 1: down and distance situations, and then Campbell coming in for
- 33:09Speaker 1: the pass downs. Other teams have done that. Greg, teams
- 33:12Speaker 1: don't really love to rotate that kind of position, though,
- 33:15Speaker 1: because it sort of gives a tell sometimes, right?
- 33:18Speaker 3: You're talking about linebacker?
- 33:20Speaker 1: Yeah, because I remember this a couple years ago.
- 33:23Speaker 3: What teams can do is they'll bring in a different
- 33:26Speaker 3: linebacker for nickel or dime. Right, right. You know, they don't, yeah.
- 33:31Speaker 3: I mean, look, but you want to play your best players.
- 33:33Speaker 3: If he thinks that if it's first and 10, and
- 33:36Speaker 3: I don't have the exact percentage of what Jacksonville's run-pass
- 33:39Speaker 3: ratio is on first and 10, you know, if there's
- 33:43Speaker 3: a clear tendency for Jacksonville in a given down-and-distance situation,
- 33:47Speaker 3: and it's a clear run tendency, and believe me, the
- 33:50Speaker 3: teams know the answer to these questions, it would not
- 33:53Speaker 3: surprise me to see Trotter. Because, you know, you've got
- 33:57Speaker 3: to put your best players out there. I mean, you know,
- 34:00Speaker 3: it's that's the way it works. You know, the predictable stuff.
- 34:04Speaker 3: A lot of things, by the way, in the NFL
- 34:06Speaker 3: are predictable. You know, a lot of a lot of
- 34:08Speaker 3: teams are teams are not great or the really good
- 34:12Speaker 3: teams because they're fooling people. You know, things are predictable,
- 34:16Speaker 3: you know, and then you just either have good players
- 34:19Speaker 3: or you execute better. But, you know, you're not tricking people.
- 34:22Speaker 3: You know, you could probably speak to and I've done
- 34:25Speaker 3: this over the years. speak to coaches and they will
- 34:27Speaker 3: tell you exactly what a team's going to do. And
- 34:30Speaker 3: that's what a team does, but that.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Doesn't mean you stop it necessarily. Yeah.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Right.
- 34:35Speaker 2: You know, the Niners are a, the best motion team,
- 34:37Speaker 2: the national football league, arguably, you know, it's coming. You
- 34:40Speaker 2: just don't know what, how exactly to do it. That's all. Yeah.
- 34:44Speaker 3: So, you know, but, but to, and you got to
- 34:47Speaker 3: be careful with, cause he's got explosive juice now. I mean, and, and, um,
- 34:52Speaker 3: And you see it on tape. I mean, if he
- 34:54Speaker 3: gets to the perimeter, if he, you know, if he
- 34:55Speaker 3: bounces and gets to the perimeter, he can easily outflank
- 34:58Speaker 3: your defense.
- 35:00Speaker 1: So you said the Jags have three wide receivers that
- 35:03Speaker 1: all make an impact that you like. And I know
- 35:04Speaker 1: the first two were Parker Washington and Jacoby Myers. I'm
- 35:09Speaker 1: curious because I think people might think you were referring
- 35:12Speaker 1: to somebody as a three. I'm not sure it's that somebody,
- 35:14Speaker 1: but go ahead.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Well, it's Brian Thomas is their third guy.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Uh, because lately Cameron's been patched.
- 35:21Speaker 3: I feel like Cameron's a very intriguing player too. I
- 35:25Speaker 3: did it coming out of college. He's big physical and
- 35:28Speaker 3: has vice grip hands and he gets meaningful snaps and
- 35:31Speaker 3: they use him on third down at times. They use
- 35:33Speaker 3: them in the red zone. He's a very intriguing receiver.
- 35:36Speaker 3: So they really have four receivers that will play meaningful snaps. Um, so, uh,
- 35:41Speaker 3: and then by the way, they've been really good on
- 35:43Speaker 3: offense in the red zone. Lawrence has been really good
- 35:45Speaker 3: in the red zone. Um, Uh, they've got some really
- 35:48Speaker 3: good schematics to their past game. Um, and Washington's a
- 35:52Speaker 3: very physical receiver. He can work through contact and we
- 35:55Speaker 3: know what the Eagles have done this season is they
- 35:57Speaker 3: play wool in a left corner and Mitchell at right corner.
- 35:59Speaker 3: So you can pretty much dictate a matchup that you
- 36:02Speaker 3: feel good about. Um, you know, unless Vic changes this week,
- 36:06Speaker 3: but I would doubt it. Um, so, you know, we'll see, uh, uh,
- 36:11Speaker 3: and you know, they do a lot of things formationally.
- 36:13Speaker 3: I guarantee Liam Cohen will get Parker Washington matched on,
- 36:17Speaker 3: on safety at times in this game, just through the
- 36:19Speaker 3: use of formations and motions and, and use of personnel.
- 36:23Speaker 3: So that will happen in this game. Does that mean
- 36:25Speaker 3: it'll be a big play? You know, we don't know
- 36:26Speaker 3: the answer to that, but the matchup will happen. Sure.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Sure. Are they at 11 or a 12 alternate? How
- 36:34Speaker 1: do they usually, what do they play mostly?
- 36:36Speaker 3: Yes. Um, I can tell you that in a sec. Um,
- 36:41Speaker 3: This week, they were predominantly 11. Let me just look
- 36:44Speaker 3: to see if that is the way they played all
- 36:47Speaker 3: season long.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Jeff, I was looking through the first four games. They
- 36:50Speaker 2: balance a lot. There's sometimes more 11, sometimes more 12.
- 36:54Speaker 3: So far this season, they've played 57% in 11 personnel,
- 36:56Speaker 3: 28% in 12 personnel, and 13% in 13 personnel. More 11. Yeah,
- 36:58Speaker 3: more 11. That's not a high 11 percentage.
- 37:07Speaker 1: That's not right. If you want to buy the 12
- 37:09Speaker 1: and 13, that's.
- 37:09Speaker 3: The highest 11 percentage in the league belongs to the
- 37:12Speaker 3: Philadelphia Eagles at 77%.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Wow. Wow.
- 37:15Speaker 2: That's insane. Because Cameron is becoming more of a factor.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Bo Kircher, the rookie, like he's got to play. He's
- 37:21Speaker 2: a second, you know, he's a second round pick. And they,
- 37:24Speaker 2: as we talked about Jeff earlier, they extended Strange's contract,
- 37:29Speaker 2: but they drafted another tight in the second round. That's, Well,
- 37:31Speaker 2: that kind of.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Tells you that they'd ideally like to have meaningful snaps
- 37:34Speaker 3: of 12, because I can tell you for a fact
- 37:36Speaker 3: that they love Strange. Yeah. Yes.
- 37:38Speaker 1: How's Berkshire look so far?
- 37:40Speaker 2: Pretty good.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Solid player. I don't know if he's, you know, well,
- 37:43Speaker 3: they don't need him to be a number one tight
- 37:45Speaker 3: end because Strange is, but he's definitely, you know, a
- 37:50Speaker 3: solid second tight end for sure.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Let's talk about Lawrence in this offense. I mean, last
- 37:57Speaker 1: year through four weeks, the first four weeks of the season,
- 38:00Speaker 1: He was the 32nd rated quarterback in the league.
- 38:04Speaker 3: Brand new offense.
- 38:04Speaker 1: By the end of the year. Right, right. So you
- 38:08Speaker 1: can apply this to the Eagles. They're going through a
- 38:10Speaker 1: very similar phase and struggling. But I know over the
- 38:13Speaker 1: last eight games that Lawrence was rated in the top
- 38:17Speaker 1: three and their offense was better. What do you see
- 38:19Speaker 1: from him this year?
- 38:20Speaker 3: Well, what you start to see was decisiveness. You see,
- 38:23Speaker 3: that's a big tell with quarterbacks. You know, quarterbacks that
- 38:26Speaker 3: when they hit their back foot, they get rid of
- 38:29Speaker 3: the football. Or even if they're going through a progression
- 38:32Speaker 3: and wait a second, you can tell that they're going
- 38:34Speaker 3: through a progression and then they're being decisive. When you
- 38:36Speaker 3: start seeing quarterbacks get stuck in the pocket, that's always
- 38:40Speaker 3: a problem. And you could see the decisiveness improve dramatically
- 38:43Speaker 3: with Lawrence. And that's when you hear people say things
- 38:48Speaker 3: about coaches, oh, it's a quarterback-friendly system because they see
- 38:51Speaker 3: the quarterback drop back and deliver the ball and it
- 38:53Speaker 3: makes it look like the three of us could do
- 38:55Speaker 3: it when in fact that's not the case. You know,
- 38:58Speaker 3: that's why certain quarterbacks, people have a tough time coming
- 39:01Speaker 3: around to like the Brock Purdy's of the world, because
- 39:05Speaker 3: it looks like anybody can do that because all he's
- 39:07Speaker 3: doing is dropping back and throwing the ball. And it
- 39:09Speaker 3: looks like, oh, gee, that guy's relatively open. Anybody can
- 39:12Speaker 3: do that, which, you know, we know is not true.
- 39:14Speaker 3: You know, so Lawrence started to play with a lot
- 39:17Speaker 3: more decisiveness and conviction. And, you know, Lawrence does not
- 39:20Speaker 3: have a gun, but you don't need a gun. I mean,
- 39:22Speaker 3: if you went down the list of NFL quarterbacks, he'd
- 39:25Speaker 3: probably be 15th or 16th or 17th when it comes
- 39:27Speaker 3: to just pure arm strength.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 39:30Speaker 3: But he's big. He's now very comfortable in this offense.
- 39:34Speaker 3: He has someone like Parker Washington is really good working
- 39:37Speaker 3: through contact. So he feels very comfortable throwing him the ball.
- 39:41Speaker 3: They do a lot of really good things in their concepts.
- 39:44Speaker 3: They'll work Strange through the line of scrimmage and get
- 39:47Speaker 3: him matched on linebackers. You'll see that in this game
- 39:50Speaker 3: for sure. And they'll do it off run action. So
- 39:54Speaker 3: the linebacker takes that moment of, hey, I got to
- 39:57Speaker 3: play the run. And they'll hit some big plays. I've
- 40:00Speaker 3: seen them hit big plays. And this week, they just
- 40:03Speaker 3: missed it. Lawrence made a poor throw. And it might
- 40:05Speaker 3: have been a touchdown for 60 yards, give or take,
- 40:08Speaker 3: if he didn't make a poor throw when Strange worked
- 40:10Speaker 3: through the line of scrimmage. Because Strange will a lot
- 40:12Speaker 3: of times line up in the backfield as an I-formation fullback.
- 40:15Speaker 3: So they do a lot of good things. It's a
- 40:17Speaker 3: good offense. It's a very well-schemed, well-designed offense.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Jeff, remember last year we were– I think the first
- 40:24Speaker 2: half of Lawrence's season was so bad.
- 40:26Speaker 1: It was.
- 40:27Speaker 3: It was awful.
- 40:28Speaker 2: We were like, here we go again. He's been so overrated,
- 40:31Speaker 2: bad contract. When he took off, it was incredible. I mean,
- 40:36Speaker 2: it was like– Greg, talk about it. It's like something–
- 40:39Speaker 2: the light went on and it was incredible. Right.
- 40:41Speaker 3: See, it wasn't, you know, it's funny. It's not Lawrence's
- 40:44Speaker 3: fault that people thought he was quote unquote generational when
- 40:47Speaker 3: he came out, which of course is a word I
- 40:49Speaker 3: never would use, but he's not that guy. See, Lawrence is,
- 40:53Speaker 3: he's got traits, solid traits, but not high, high level traits.
- 40:58Speaker 3: So he needs the offense to work for him. He's not,
- 41:01Speaker 3: you know, one of those guys that just, man, he
- 41:03Speaker 3: can do anything. He's not that guy. He was, that
- 41:07Speaker 3: moniker was put on him, which is not his fault,
- 41:09Speaker 3: of course, you know, And he's actually– I've been around him.
- 41:12Speaker 3: I was at a couple of events with him for
- 41:13Speaker 3: like two, three-day periods. When he was younger in college,
- 41:17Speaker 3: he's a great young man. I mean, everything about him
- 41:20Speaker 3: is solid. But he's not at the traits level that
- 41:23Speaker 3: was pinned on him when he came out of college, which,
- 41:26Speaker 3: like I said, is not his fault. Right.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Right. Absolutely. Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 41:33Speaker 1: long lines. We've all been there. But when it comes
- 41:36Speaker 1: to your cannabis– Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 41:41Speaker 1: the dispensary for sports fans. Just minutes outside of Philly
- 41:45Speaker 1: with plenty of free parking. You'll be in and out fast.
- 41:48Speaker 1: No hassle. No waiting. And they don't just care about convenience.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Camden Apothecary is all about the guest experience. Their staff
- 41:56Speaker 1: makes sure you feel taken care of every time you
- 41:59Speaker 1: walk in. Plus, they carry only the best quality cannabis
- 42:03Speaker 1: at the fairest price. So whether you're stocking up for
- 42:07Speaker 1: the tailgate, the watch party, or celebrating a big win,
- 42:10Speaker 1: you know you're getting the good stuff without overpaying. They
- 42:14Speaker 1: even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 42:19Speaker 1: service members, and healthcare pros. Camden Apothecary, top quality cannabis,
- 42:24Speaker 1: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans 21
- 42:27Speaker 1: and up.
- 42:29Speaker 3: All right.
- 42:30Speaker 1: There was a great sequence against the Patriots where, to
- 42:33Speaker 1: put your point on decisiveness and trusting your personnel, they
- 42:36Speaker 1: kicked the crap out of the Patriots in week two.
- 42:38Speaker 1: There was a sequence where Trevor Lawrence threw the ball
- 42:40Speaker 1: to Parker Washington in the low red zone on four
- 42:43Speaker 1: straight plays. incomplete, incomplete touchdown that got negated by a
- 42:48Speaker 1: bogus offensive PI. And then the fourth time he finally
- 42:52Speaker 1: hit him for the touchdown. And I'm like, man, you
- 42:54Speaker 1: really are in rhythm with a certain one of your targets.
- 42:56Speaker 1: If you can throw it to him four straight times
- 42:58Speaker 1: and get a touchdown out of that. I was marveling
- 43:01Speaker 1: at that, but yeah.
- 43:04Speaker 3: I did Washington this summer. I don't know why I
- 43:07Speaker 3: just decided I did Lawrence, his last seven or eight games.
- 43:10Speaker 3: I watched all of those this summer. And then I,
- 43:12Speaker 3: noticed Washington so I decided to do all his targets
- 43:15Speaker 3: because he didn't have that many because I think he
- 43:16Speaker 3: caught something like 45 balls last year but he's clearly
- 43:20Speaker 3: a guy that Lawrence feels very comfortable throwing it to
- 43:24Speaker 3: because there's a physicality and a competitiveness to his game
- 43:27Speaker 3: you know stylistically okay again I always hate doing this
- 43:32Speaker 3: because that's all people but stylistically there's a little bit
- 43:37Speaker 3: of like a Steve Smith to his game. He's not
- 43:39Speaker 3: as nowhere near as explosive as Smith, but in terms
- 43:42Speaker 3: of being like a, a bad-ass physical, tough guy, he's,
- 43:46Speaker 3: he's like that. Yeah.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:48Speaker 3: He's like that. You know, that's kind of the way
- 43:50Speaker 3: he is. I liked his tape from last year a lot. And,
- 43:55Speaker 3: you know, look, you know, receivers, particularly when you've got
- 43:57Speaker 3: a bunch of guys, you know, guys like that, aren't
- 44:00Speaker 3: going to go seven for one 10 every week. Like
- 44:02Speaker 3: last week, he didn't put up big numbers, you know,
- 44:05Speaker 3: it was a different kind of game and you know,
- 44:07Speaker 3: it worked out differently, but he's a very good player.
- 44:10Speaker 2: So it's interesting with Parker Washington is that when he
- 44:13Speaker 2: came out, like the book was, Oh, he's going to
- 44:15Speaker 2: have to be a slot receiver. That's not the case anymore.
- 44:17Speaker 2: He's not the case at all. No, I know. I know.
- 44:20Speaker 2: And I just remember getting scouting report on him. And
- 44:23Speaker 2: I was like, Oh, the guy spoke with said, I
- 44:25Speaker 2: just see him as a slot. He's very tough, good kid,
- 44:28Speaker 2: hard worker, probably could have gone higher. He goes, he goes,
- 44:31Speaker 2: I gave him a fifth. I did. He go in
- 44:32Speaker 2: the sixth round.
- 44:34Speaker 1: I think it was the sixth round.
- 44:35Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:36Speaker 2: And he's been way, Greg talked to him a lot. Yeah.
- 44:40Speaker 2: He's really good, man.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, see, that's the other thing about, I'm sorry, Jeff,
- 44:44Speaker 3: Liam Cohen's offense who comes from the Sean McVay school
- 44:47Speaker 3: is they don't necessarily just line up. Oh, I have
- 44:49Speaker 3: an X and I have a Z. They don't, they
- 44:51Speaker 3: don't necessarily play like that. Sure. If they have a
- 44:55Speaker 3: true X, it would probably be Brian Thomas, but they
- 44:58Speaker 3: don't necessarily play that way where, Oh, it's going to
- 45:01Speaker 3: be Brian Thomas all the time. you know, that's not
- 45:04Speaker 3: the way a Sean McVay type offense functions.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 45:09Speaker 1: I was just going to say, I watched him against
- 45:10Speaker 1: the Broncos line up on the outside, Adam, to your point,
- 45:13Speaker 1: and beat Patrick Sertain on, like, kind of a deep
- 45:16Speaker 1: crosser where he got separation at the top of the route.
- 45:19Speaker 1: He put a move on him outside, then went in,
- 45:21Speaker 1: and he caught the ball in stride, broke out of
- 45:23Speaker 1: a tackle. He's got good play strength. I think that's
- 45:25Speaker 1: what really stands out to me. Very good play.
- 45:27Speaker 3: He can play through contact. That's a term we use
- 45:29Speaker 3: a lot, you know, when it comes to– You know, receivers,
- 45:34Speaker 3: you know, even when you watch them coming out of college.
- 45:36Speaker 3: By the way, Josh Cameron has great play strength, too.
- 45:38Speaker 2: He is just under 6'2. He is rocked up. I'll
- 45:44Speaker 2: tell you what, Jeff, as we send it back to you,
- 45:46Speaker 2: their pass start group is really good, very underrated.
- 45:49Speaker 3: Yes.
- 45:51Speaker 2: As Greg said, it's fair. On paper, it looks like
- 45:54Speaker 2: a complete mismatch, but you got... Quinion's going to play.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Didn't know that early in the week. It looked like
- 45:59Speaker 2: a hyperextension last game. Thankfully, he's fine. He's okay. He's
- 46:03Speaker 2: going to play. Because you don't want to see Jonathan
- 46:05Speaker 2: Jones starting. And we'll see about Michael Carter starting again.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Don't know about Grenard, but at least having Mitchell, they
- 46:12Speaker 2: can match up. Because you take Quinion out, it changes everything.
- 46:16Speaker 3: I agree. So, by the way, just to make a point,
- 46:18Speaker 3: in 2025– Washington lined up outside on 390 snaps and
- 46:27Speaker 3: in the slot on 315 snaps. Wow. So he's both.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome. Awesome stuff.
- 46:32Speaker 1: For sure. I think the key, I think the Eagles
- 46:34Speaker 1: have to be, given the play strength, they've got to
- 46:38Speaker 1: not miss tackles in this game. I think that they
- 46:41Speaker 1: have an opportunity here to force the Jaguars into some
- 46:44Speaker 1: tough situations because they have a very good defensive front,
- 46:47Speaker 1: even if it hasn't played like it all year. But Jomo...
- 46:51Speaker 1: having that mismatch. And then if you force Jags to
- 46:54Speaker 1: get into too much passing, I think that favors the
- 46:57Speaker 1: Eagles with their secondary against the Jags wideouts. But again,
- 47:00Speaker 1: you've got to tackle the guy in front of you.
- 47:02Speaker 1: That's going to be huge. Why don't we move on
- 47:06Speaker 1: to do what we do best and pick the winner
- 47:08Speaker 1: of this game. So Adam, I will start with you.
- 47:12Speaker 2: Well, last week I was almost wrong. I got lucky.
- 47:16Speaker 2: So did Greg. rams had no business winning that game
- 47:19Speaker 2: but it is what it is in that sloppy weather
- 47:21Speaker 2: we don't have to worry about that in london the
- 47:23Speaker 2: tottenham spur uh i've got it jaguars 24 eagles 13
- 47:32Speaker 2: 24 13.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Okay i should mention the last i checked the jaguars
- 47:38Speaker 1: were seven point favorites that line might even go up
- 47:40Speaker 1: but That's what I saw. Cannot remember the last time
- 47:44Speaker 1: the Eagles were, by the way, seven-point underdogs. Did I
- 47:47Speaker 1: say favorites? I'm sorry. Yeah, I said the Jaguars were
- 47:49Speaker 1: seven-point favorites.
- 47:50Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, big yes.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Eagles are seven-point underdogs. Did you pick a player of
- 47:53Speaker 1: the game?
- 47:53Speaker 2: No, I'm going to pick it now, and that would
- 47:55Speaker 2: be the aforementioned Parker Washington. I love the way that
- 47:58Speaker 2: they use him. And you know what? He's got such motivation,
- 48:02Speaker 2: no extension yet. So they've tabled it. So, yeah, he's
- 48:06Speaker 2: got everything to play.
- 48:07Speaker 3: I read, though, it was because he didn't want it.
- 48:09Speaker 3: He was betting on himself. Okay. That's what I read.
- 48:12Speaker 3: That might not be the case. Yeah.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Drafted by Trent Baalke, by the way. For all the
- 48:18Speaker 2: much maligned Trent Baalke, that's one of the presents he
- 48:21Speaker 2: gave to the staff. This kid's a heck of a player.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Great story of a six-round pick.
- 48:25Speaker 1: That's so ironic, by the way, because we know that
- 48:28Speaker 1: Baalke is a... Size, speed, trace. And Parker Washington is
- 48:33Speaker 1: none of that.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Let me ask you this. Did you watch Parker Washington
- 48:37Speaker 2: a lot at Penn State? I did.
- 48:38Speaker 1: I watched him in person. I went to the two
- 48:40Speaker 1: whiteout games that he played. He absolutely dominated Iowa and Minnesota. Oh, yeah.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Is it his size is why he didn't go higher?
- 48:46Speaker 1: I mean, it's 5'9. He never ran. He didn't do
- 48:50Speaker 1: any athletic testing at the Combine or his pro day
- 48:52Speaker 1: because he was rehabbing an injury. But I'm pretty sure
- 48:54Speaker 1: if he did.
- 48:55Speaker 3: Do athletic testing. Because let's say he did athletic testing
- 48:58Speaker 3: and did really well. I'm not saying he would have
- 48:59Speaker 3: been a first round pick, but he probably would have
- 49:01Speaker 3: got into the third round.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Well, I don't think that he was known for being
- 49:06Speaker 1: a great speed guy anyway, though.
- 49:09Speaker 2: The issue with him was with the guy I spoke with,
- 49:12Speaker 2: because I didn't see him much. So tell me about him.
- 49:14Speaker 2: He went through the stuff. But I grade him as
- 49:16Speaker 2: a slot receiver. Well, slot receivers don't go that high.
- 49:20Speaker 2: But the good thing is, and we'll move this along here,
- 49:22Speaker 2: he's proven that he's anything but that. So it's great.
- 49:25Speaker 2: Good for them.
- 49:26Speaker 1: All right, Greg, what do you got?
- 49:28Speaker 3: You know, again, all you have is what you have
- 49:30Speaker 3: up to this point. And then I said a couple
- 49:32Speaker 3: of times, anything can happen in these games, you know,
- 49:34Speaker 3: special teams, fumbles, you know, who knows. But if you
- 49:38Speaker 3: just look at this right now, it's hard for me
- 49:41Speaker 3: to look at the Eagles being right now at the
- 49:44Speaker 3: same level as the Jaguars. Now, the one thing I
- 49:46Speaker 3: will say is Trevor Lawrence does at times, if you
- 49:50Speaker 3: can pressure him, there are times when he breaks down
- 49:54Speaker 3: a bit and can make errant throws. That has to
- 49:57Speaker 3: be a key to the game for the Eagles. Now,
- 49:59Speaker 3: I don't know whether they can do it, especially if
- 50:01Speaker 3: Grenard's out, because their right tackle, Colt A. Lannan, he's okay,
- 50:05Speaker 3: but he's a beatable player. So, Having said all that,
- 50:12Speaker 3: I'd be hard-pressed to pick the Eagles based on what
- 50:14Speaker 3: we've seen up to this point. I would imagine, because
- 50:19Speaker 3: they are a championship organization, that this was probably a
- 50:22Speaker 3: pretty intense week. I hate to be stupidly cliched, but
- 50:26Speaker 3: be ready to play. I think the game might be
- 50:29Speaker 3: a little closer in that regard, but I'm going to
- 50:32Speaker 3: pick the Jaguars to win 23-14. I think that my
- 50:34Speaker 3: player of the game I'm struggling with Lawrence only because
- 50:43Speaker 3: I think there'll be some tough moments for him. I
- 50:45Speaker 3: think the Eagles, you know, will, will, you know, Vic
- 50:48Speaker 3: is not an idiot by any means. There's going to
- 50:50Speaker 3: be things he's going to do that might be just
- 50:52Speaker 3: a little different in this game. We don't know what
- 50:55Speaker 3: that'll be, but it will, there will be some different things. See,
- 51:00Speaker 3: I was going to pick partial, you know, I'll stick
- 51:02Speaker 3: with that because I was going to do the same thing.
- 51:04Speaker 3: So I'm going to go with Parker Washington.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Okay, cool. We are all, we're all in the same,
- 51:09Speaker 1: I'm picking the, Jaguars to win this game 26-13. I
- 51:13Speaker 1: also thought a wide receiver would be the player of
- 51:15Speaker 1: the game, but I had Jacoby Myers beating them.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Good player.
- 51:19Speaker 1: You know, good player and kind of a guy who
- 51:23Speaker 1: can make a lot of production over the middle. He
- 51:25Speaker 1: can break some tackles, so we'll see. That's how I
- 51:28Speaker 1: saw it. So it's a clean sweep.
- 51:30Speaker 3: By the way, what you just said, Jeff, is critical
- 51:32Speaker 3: in this game because both Myers and Washington, particularly Washington,
- 51:37Speaker 3: are really, really good run after catch. So you have
- 51:40Speaker 3: to make sure that you get bodies on them because
- 51:44Speaker 3: Washington is tough and physical and Myers is too. So,
- 51:47Speaker 3: you know, if they catch, let's say in breakers, you
- 51:49Speaker 3: better make sure you get bodies on them.
- 51:52Speaker 2: And Jeff, the Eagles have to tackle better than the
- 51:54Speaker 2: Cowboys did against the Bucs. That was an absolute embarrassment.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Some of the worst effort I've ever seen. I don't
- 52:00Speaker 2: know if you guys watched it. I suffered through that game.
- 52:02Speaker 3: I watched some of it because I loved Jalen Daniels
- 52:04Speaker 3: coming out of Kansas. Oh, did you really?
- 52:07Speaker 1: No, that's right. Yeah.
- 52:08Speaker 3: Yeah. I've talked to Adam numerous times on shows, Adam,
- 52:11Speaker 3: you know, that I thought he was definitely a draftable
- 52:13Speaker 3: player that, you know, he had traits. He showed those
- 52:16Speaker 3: traits even playing last week when they lost, he had
- 52:19Speaker 3: four or five throws that if I were, if you
- 52:21Speaker 3: were sitting here with me and because you've sat here
- 52:23Speaker 3: with Jaws for years, you would go, wow, those are
- 52:26Speaker 3: NFL quarterback traits.
- 52:27Speaker 2: Is he a smaller guy?
- 52:29Speaker 3: That's one issue. And you know, six year player in college,
- 52:33Speaker 3: stayed at Kansas, had some injuries and, You know, but
- 52:38Speaker 3: I'm telling you, his tape was good in college.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Wow.
- 52:41Speaker 2: He didn't turn the ball over, Jeff, as we sent
- 52:44Speaker 2: it back to you.
- 52:44Speaker 3: He looked like he belonged on an NFL field as
- 52:47Speaker 3: a quarterback.
- 52:48Speaker 2: But the tackle, the effort, like Bucky Erring's a nice player.
- 52:52Speaker 2: He's not that talented. The long run, I don't know
- 52:55Speaker 2: if you saw it, some of the worst tackling ever.
- 52:58Speaker 1: It almost became inside the Bucs instead of inside the birds.
- 53:00Speaker 2: But you talk about tackling.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Yes.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Eagles tackling has not been great. It just has not
- 53:07Speaker 2: been great. It's one of these things that has nothing
- 53:10Speaker 2: to do with injury. Now, we could talk about Campbell
- 53:13Speaker 2: and instinctiveness. Carter, Greg's pointed out, has not been a
- 53:16Speaker 2: factor at all. You're playing with a club. Now, I
- 53:19Speaker 2: know sometimes, by the way, when you have this type
- 53:22Speaker 2: of injury, when you have a broken wrist, over time,
- 53:26Speaker 2: once you feel comfortable, they shave it down. They make
- 53:28Speaker 2: it into sort of a contraption instead of a club.
- 53:31Speaker 2: Because for them to win, to even be like a
- 53:35Speaker 2: nine or eight win team, he's got to be a
- 53:37Speaker 2: major factor. He's totally invisible. And that's just, if you
- 53:41Speaker 2: want to know why they're losing, we can give 30 points.
- 53:44Speaker 2: But they always say the stars have to be stars.
- 53:47Speaker 2: The stars have not been stars for the most part yet.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Hasn't happened.
- 53:50Speaker 1: Great way to end it. It hasn't happened.
- 53:52Speaker 3: Did you pick your player of the game, Jeff?
- 53:54Speaker 1: I did. I said Jacoby Myers.
- 53:55Speaker 3: Oh, Jacoby Myers, right.
- 53:56Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah.
- 53:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:57Speaker 1: All right, that is going to do it for the
- 53:59Speaker 1: Inside the Birds Week 5 pregame show. For Greg Cosell
- 54:02Speaker 1: and Adam Kaplan, I'm Jeff Mosher. Hey, we'll catch you
- 54:06Speaker 1: all on the postgame show, and we'll see. That's why
- 54:08Speaker 1: they play the game. Enjoy your watching, everybody.
