- 0:14Well, good morning, everybody, and welcome to another edition of the ABA Coffee In The Park.
- 0:18My name is Cam Milliken, and I am here with my co-host extraordinaire, Jennifer Herrick, the Executive Director of the Acheson Business Association.
- 0:28Hi, Jennifer.
- 0:29Good morning, Cam, on this lovely spring day.
- 0:32It's a spring day.
- 0:34Had a little bit of rain this morning, then the sun came out, and yeah, it's just a great spring day.
- 0:39Well, I'm happy it's spring, are you?
- 0:41Well, I am, except I'm one of those- You can hear it in your voice, though.
- 0:44I'm one of those allergy-suffering peoples, and so this is a little tough on me, but you know what, hey, that's what medication is for, so yeah.
- 0:52That helps me out.
- 0:55Well, it's the truth, like I just gotta pop it to keep it.
- 0:57I get it, I get it.
- 0:58Otherwise, I'm sneezing and crying and wheezing.
- 1:00I don't think you're alone in this.
- 1:01No, I don't, no, no, no.
- 1:03There's a lot of allergy sufferers.
- 1:04Millions and trillions of people suffer from allergies.
- 1:06That's right.
- 1:07Well, Cam, tell everybody where we're coming from.
- 1:08Well, that's right, we are coming to you live from the Wall Coffee Roasters in the heart of beautiful downtown Acheson.
- 1:17That's right.
- 1:17So if you hear some noises in the background, coffee-whirring, people screaming, or kids screaming, not people.
- 1:22Well, people might be. But mostly kids.
- 1:23Well, it might be people talking.
- 1:25It's because we're here live at the coffee shop.
- 1:27We are.
- 1:27And if you have not been to the Wall Coffee Roasters, why not?
- 1:32Yeah.
- 1:32So Jennifer, it's a little bit of a different show today.
- 1:35Yes, it is.
- 1:36We don't have a guest.
- 1:37We don't.
- 1:37It's another one of those shows where we don't have a guest.
- 1:39That's right.
- 1:40And just for the record, it's not that we couldn't have a guest.
- 1:43No.
- 1:43We could have had a guest.
- 1:44Unfortunately, our guest had to fly out of the country today.
- 1:48That's right.
- 1:48In a moment's notice, he had to go.
- 1:50And one day we'll tell you, because he will come on as a guest, and we'll tell you why he had to do that, but we'll keep you in suspense.
- 1:58And then we'll have him, and you'll be going, this is what will happen.
- 2:00When you see and hear that guest, you will go, wow.
- 2:04I agree.
- 2:05Because he's a cool guest.
- 2:06He is.
- 2:06Anyway, so it's you and me today.
- 2:08It is.
- 2:09And that's okay, because I think sometimes people like to hear from just you and me.
- 2:12Well, if they don't, that's too bad.
- 2:15But don't tune us out.
- 2:16No, no, no, no, no, no, don't go anywhere.
- 2:18Stay, stay and listen, because this is a great show.
- 2:21Cam, this is going to be a fantastic episode.
- 2:24Without a doubt.
- 2:25I think this is one of our most creative shows that we've ever done.
- 2:28I think so.
- 2:29And we came up with it last minute.
- 2:32It's literally last minute.
- 2:33Literally last night.
- 2:35That's what we came up with.
- 2:37So anyway, but hey, listen, let's go back to it for a minute.
- 2:39We tell everybody that we are, we always do our show at the Wall Coffee Roasters.
- 2:45Yes, we do, which is owned by Michael Wall, who was a guest on the podcast.
- 2:50That's right.
- 2:51One of our very first guests.
- 2:52I think he was like number two, I think, or three.
- 2:54I think he was.
- 2:55Anyways, so yeah, so every week we do it here at the Wall Coffee Roasters in, like we said, the heart of a beautiful downtown Acheson.
- 3:05And if you've never been to the Wall Coffee Roasters, you should come because he transformed this building, this office building, into this really cool cafe.
- 3:14You know, Cam, everybody that walks in here for the first time is in awe of how stunning this location is.
- 3:20I know, they walk in and you literally hear them go, whoa, because yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 3:25It's like a little oasis.
- 3:27It's a little oasis in the midst of a bunch of industry and he roasts his coffees, got his roasters, got two roasters right over there through the window, we can see them, two roasters.
- 3:38And then he has this amazing little coffee shop.
- 3:40Cam, I want you to tell a little bit about where we do this particular podcast from in the corner because you are sitting on some church pews.
- 3:49That's right, I am.
- 3:50Now, tell us a little bit about the history because I think this is so cool about these church pews.
- 3:54Yeah, so if you remember way back, again, one of our first beginning podcasts, we had Wes Wall.
- 4:00Wes is the father of Michael Wall, who owns the Wall Coffee Roasters.
- 4:06We are sitting in the corner, always in our corner.
- 4:09This is our corner.
- 4:11We are surrounded by our table is here.
- 4:14Then we have two church pews.
- 4:16These church pews come from Wes's dad, was a pastor for many, many years and these pews come from his dad's church in Drumheller, Alberta.
- 4:27We are sitting on genuine, actual church pews.
- 4:30When did that church close?
- 4:31Do you remember?
- 4:32Oh, no.
- 4:33I don't know if it ever closed.
- 4:34I think it's still going.
- 4:35Did they just renovate?
- 4:36Yeah, I think they renovated and they took these pews.
- 4:40Kind of like when the Montreal Forum closed and people took the chairs.
- 4:43People took the Forum seats.
- 4:45Except the church is still there.
- 4:46The Forum is not there.
- 4:47Yeah, that's not so.
- 4:47The church is still there.
- 4:50This is just a wonderful reminder for Wes and for Michael.
- 4:53Wes's dad, Michael's grandfather of the church that he was in, and I think that just adds such character to the Wall Coffee Roasters.
- 5:00And we're here.
- 5:01This is like you say, this is where we do our podcast every week.
- 5:04Thank you, Michael.
- 5:05Thank you, Michael, for letting us do that.
- 5:07This is where we hold a number of our meetings with the Acheson Business Association.
- 5:11Second office.
- 5:12And it's second office and kind of dubbed as my second office because our offices are just like 200 feet away from here or 100 yards.
- 5:21Well, I don't know how far, but can I just say though, folks, sometimes when Cam walks in, in this back area is taken, I know, he's quite upset.
- 5:28I don't like it when other people are sitting in our, no, he gives them the stink eye.
- 5:33I don't give them the stink eye. Sure you do! Well, I don't do it on purpose.
- 5:36It just happens because I want to be in our seats.
- 5:39And the staff laughs every time.
- 5:41Everybody laughs every time.
- 5:42Yes.
- 5:42And when my boss calls me, he wants to know where I'm at, he goes, are you in your office?
- 5:46And I say, I am.
- 5:47He goes, no, you know which office I'm talking about.
- 5:50The one at the coffee shop.
- 5:51And I'm like, yeah, that's where I am.
- 5:53So anyway, but yeah, cause it's just our little place.
- 5:55It is.
- 5:56It's kind of cool.
- 5:57Yeah.
- 5:57So we're happy to be here.
- 5:58And the Wall Coffee Roaster is just an amazing place.
- 6:01It took Michael about a year to transform this into what it is.
- 6:05And now he roasts his coffee and he sells coffee.
- 6:09Drinks.
- 6:09He does drinks.
- 6:11So.
- 6:11Good segue.
- 6:12Good segue.
- 6:13Great segue.
- 6:14That takes us in to what we're gonna do today.
- 6:18It is spring, like we talked about.
- 6:20Yes, it is.
- 6:21We thought, because we've never really done this.
- 6:23No, we haven't.
- 6:24Ever.
- 6:25Really.
- 6:26That we were going to get a number of drinks on the menu and give you a little bit of a review.
- 6:32We're gonna do a little taste test.
- 6:34And there's a surprise at the end.
- 6:35There is a surprise.
- 6:36Oh, so excited.
- 6:37I'm excited about this one.
- 6:38So, yeah, so we thought, you know, like a restaurant review, we would do a Wall Coffee Shop drink review.
- 6:44And I know, like you're gonna say, I know what you're saying already.
- 6:47People are going, well, they're gonna say every drink is great.
- 6:49Well, no, we'll be honest.
- 6:52We'll be honest.
- 6:53But just remember, this review is what Jennifer and I think.
- 6:57That's right.
- 6:57It might not be what you think.
- 6:59You might come in and try it and love it.
- 7:01Yeah.
- 7:01Or go well, maybe not.
- 7:02So don't send us like angry email.
- 7:04No, no, no.
- 7:05What are you talking about?
- 7:06We don't, why do you think?
- 7:07I don't like it when, I take it personally when people send us angry emails.
- 7:11Have we ever got any angry emails?
- 7:13I don't think so.
- 7:14Maybe Hannah's blocked them from us.
- 7:15Thank you Hannah.
- 7:16Hannah keeps them from us because she knows we have very fragile egos.
- 7:21So she's like, I can't tell them because they'll fall apart.
- 7:24So anyway, we're here and so we've chosen three, well, four drinks, but we've chosen three for sure that we're going to do.
- 7:31Yes.
- 7:31Right?
- 7:32Yes.
- 7:32Okay.
- 7:32So let's get into it right away.
- 7:34Okay.
- 7:35Jennifer, you have to say the name of the drink.
- 7:38Okay.
- 7:39Do we say what's in the drink?
- 7:40We probably should, right?
- 7:41Do you remember what's in each drink?
- 7:43Kind of.
- 7:43Yes.
- 7:44No, I do.
- 7:44Okay.
- 7:45Okay.
- 7:45Good.
- 7:46So which one do you want to do first?
- 7:47Cleanse your palate with some water.
- 7:50This is like we're doing wine tasting.
- 7:52And we have to cleanse our palate.
- 7:54All right.
- 7:54Here we go.
- 7:58Little swish around.
- 7:59No, I just want to show the proof to our listeners that I'm cleansing my palate.
- 8:03We don't have a spit bucket like wine tasting.
- 8:05We don't have a spit bucket.
- 8:06But part of the problem is I don't spit in the spit bucket.
- 8:09I just drink all the wine.
- 8:10So that's why I don't go to wine tastings anymore.
- 8:13Jennifer.
- 8:15Oh, one day we'll do wine tasting and that one will go over great because by the end of the show, we'll be like just...
- 8:22Because like Jennifer said, it's not one sip.
- 8:25It's the whole glass.
- 8:25So anyway, but not with coffee.
- 8:27So we might be a little hyper after all of this today.
- 8:30We will.
- 8:31Because this is a lot of caffeine going on.
- 8:33OK, which one are we doing first?
- 8:35OK, so to let our audience know, in front of us, we have...
- 8:39No, because I'm not going to give away the surprise yet.
- 8:41No.
- 8:41We have two cold drinks and one hot drink.
- 8:43And one hot drink.
- 8:44OK.
- 8:45So actually, we took photos.
- 8:47So probably if you go to our social media, when we're done, when we drop this, you go to our social media, you're going to see them.
- 8:53You'll see our drinks.
- 8:54So whether it's Instagram or Facebook or LinkedIn or wherever, you will see our drinks.
- 9:00OK, so which one are we doing first?
- 9:01OK, Cam, I want to start with the newest one on the menu at the Wall Coffee Roasters.
- 9:06Yes.
- 9:07Which is a Flat White.
- 9:09A Flat White.
- 9:10But I don't even actually know what's in a Flat White.
- 9:12I don't either.
- 9:12And why is it flat?
- 9:13Because it's just like it looks flat to me.
- 9:15But hold on.
- 9:16OK.
- 9:16It's got, why is it new?
- 9:18Because it has a Blueberry and Honey.
- 9:20Blueberry and Honey in Coffee?
- 9:22Yes.
- 9:22Come on.
- 9:25Does it smell good?
- 9:26Well, it smells like coffee.
- 9:29OK, so this is Blueberry and Honey.
- 9:32Blueberry and Honey Flat White.
- 9:34Yes.
- 9:34OK, so here we go.
- 9:35All right.
- 9:42Huh?
- 9:43Oh, I taste the Blueberry. Do you?
- 9:44Can you taste?
- 9:45No.
- 9:46I don't.
- 9:47Do it again.
- 9:48Is this what it's going to take it with?
- 9:54Oh, now, yes, now I do.
- 9:57I taste the Blueberry.
- 9:59What do you think?
- 10:01OK, first of all.
- 10:02OK.
- 10:02Rate it.
- 10:02Let's rate them on a scale of one to ten.
- 10:04This one is.
- 10:05Ten being the highest or the lowest?
- 10:06Ten, no, the highest.
- 10:08Well, sometimes it's reverse scaled.
- 10:10Let's not confuse people.
- 10:11Ten is the highest.
- 10:12OK.
- 10:14You would rate this as a?
- 10:15I'd rate this probably as an eight point five.
- 10:18Eight point five?
- 10:19Yeah.
- 10:19OK.
- 10:20You?
- 10:21I would give it a nine.
- 10:22You'd give it a nine.
- 10:23I would.
- 10:24I can taste the hint of blueberry with a subtle hint of honey and the smooth taste of coffee.
- 10:32It's fantastic.
- 10:33You know what?
- 10:33It is really good.
- 10:34And can I just say that while it's amazing hot, I bet you this would be fantastic cold.
- 10:42Yes.
- 10:43This would be a fabulous summer drink, the blueberry honey.
- 10:46What kind of?
- 10:47Flat white.
- 10:48One day we need to find out what a flat white is.
- 10:51I have no idea.
- 10:52I think I asked Michael one day and I didn't.
- 10:53Probably like a little Espresso.
- 10:55Yeah, I didn't like his explanation.
- 10:57So I just, I don't know if he was telling me the truth, but yeah.
- 11:00It's delicious though.
- 11:00But you notice they gave us this one in a little cup, not in a big cup.
- 11:04Well, I think this is how flat whites are actually served.
- 11:06Oh, they're in little cups?
- 11:07Yes.
- 11:07Is there a lot of caffeine in here?
- 11:09Probably a.
- 11:10I'm feeling it.
- 11:11Hello.
- 11:11I'm going to have one more sip because this, so this, so you gave this an 8.5 and I gave this a 9.
- 11:17Okay.
- 11:17So yeah, okay.
- 11:18So if you come to the Wall Coffee Roaster and this is a Blueberry Honey Flat White, hot or cold, maybe, I don't know.
- 11:29Okay.
- 11:29That was good.
- 11:30Cleanse your palate.
- 11:31All right.
- 11:31I gotta cleanse my palate now.
- 11:33I really like that.
- 11:33I don't think, I don't think I've ever heard of a coffee shop anywhere that does a Blueberry Honey Flat White.
- 11:39Me either.
- 11:40That's amazing.
- 11:40Great job staff at the Wall Coffee Roasters.
- 11:43Whoever came up with that, whether it was Brendan or Michael or Caleb or whoever, you guys did fantastic.
- 11:48Okay, you've got to.
- 11:50All right, I've cleansed my palate.
- 11:52All right, where are we going now?
- 11:52Now we're going to be controversial.
- 11:54Oh, controversial.
- 11:55Are we ready?
- 11:55I'm ready.
- 11:57Controversy at the coffee shop.
- 11:58Well, I've heard that this next drink, which again, I don't know if anybody else does this at a coffee shop.
- 12:04Right.
- 12:05What is this one?
- 12:06I've heard this can be very polarizing.
- 12:09That can be polarizing?
- 12:11Yes, in terms of opinions.
- 12:13Okay.
- 12:17This is getting stressful.
- 12:18Polarizing.
- 12:19Oh my.
- 12:20Okay.
- 12:20Are you ready?
- 12:21Yes.
- 12:21This is, I'm going to say the way it shouldn't be said, the Expresso Tonic.
- 12:29That's right.
- 12:30Let's just stop for one second.
- 12:32Everybody says Expresso.
- 12:33Expresso.
- 12:34E-X.
- 12:35It's not X.
- 12:36No.
- 12:36It's not E-X.
- 12:37No.
- 12:37It's Espresso.
- 12:40Espresso.
- 12:41That's what it is.
- 12:42That's what it is.
- 12:42And I think that comes from Italy.
- 12:45I think.
- 12:45Well, maybe.
- 12:46I think I saw that on Netflix once.
- 12:48Espresso.
- 12:49Espresso.
- 12:49It's like, I got an Espresso.
- 12:51Gino.
- 12:52Help me out here, buddy, if you're listening.
- 12:53I need to know.
- 12:54Okay.
- 12:55So this is an Espresso Tonic.
- 12:57Tonic.
- 12:57Yeah.
- 12:59Meaning it's got tonic in it.
- 13:01Yes.
- 13:02So it's got Espresso.
- 13:03Like a gin and tonic.
- 13:04Like a gin and tonic.
- 13:05You notice a theme here with, okay.
- 13:07Sorry.
- 13:07By the end of this one, we might need a gin.
- 13:09All right.
- 13:10So, okay.
- 13:11So here we go.
- 13:12Okay.
- 13:12On the count of three, one.
- 13:14We got, oh, we got Bendy's straws and they're plastic Bendy's straws.
- 13:19Oh, why?
- 13:20Okay.
- 13:20Sorry.
- 13:21Can we get in trouble for that?
- 13:22I don't care.
- 13:23They're worried that the plastic straws will end up in a turtle's nose.
- 13:27I've never seen a turtle with a plastic straw up his nose.
- 13:30Anyway, okay.
- 13:31I know that's as controversial as we're gonna get.
- 13:33All right.
- 13:33Here we go.
- 13:34This is the Espresso, Espresso Tonic.
- 13:38Okay.
- 13:38One, two, three.
- 13:45Oh, mine's leaking all over, it's coming through my straw.
- 13:50Oh my goodness, I've covered in Espresso Tonic.
- 13:55Well, okay.
- 14:01All right, okay, Espresso Tonic on a scale of, why are you making that face?
- 14:06Your eyes are like kind of rolling back in your head.
- 14:09What's going on here?
- 14:10Okay, one to 10, how's that?
- 14:13Oh, three, maybe a two, maybe a two.
- 14:17Okay.
- 14:18And again, if you love this drink, that, hey, good on you.
- 14:21I'm going to be a little more generous.
- 14:23Despite the fact it's leaked all over me because it must be the tonic that fizzed through my straw.
- 14:29I'm going to give this a six.
- 14:31A six?
- 14:32Yes, I'm going to give this one a six.
- 14:35It's interesting, it's very, I would encourage people to try this because it's, I got one more sip.
- 14:42I'm going to pull my straw up.
- 14:43Okay, that's very interesting, very.
- 14:47I don't know, I've never had Espresso and Tonic and so, yeah, all right.
- 14:53You just giving me that look, like what are you talking about?
- 14:56Anyway, all I gotta say is okay, I'll give it a six, you gave it a three.
- 15:00I did give it a three.
- 15:01All right, so, but I would order this.
- 15:03I would.
- 15:03I would not.
- 15:04On a hot summer day.
- 15:05No.
- 15:06I would order that.
- 15:07I think I would try that.
- 15:08All right.
- 15:08I definitely need to cleanse my palate after that.
- 15:11Yeah, okay.
- 15:13So, we've had the Blueberry Honey Flat White, we've had the Espresso Tonic.
- 15:18All right, yeah, we gotta cleanse the, I gotta.
- 15:20Oh, yeah, that was, yeah.
- 15:22Ah, ah.
- 15:24All right, so the thing is we can't, like you ever know when you go to like the Bay, oh, the Bay is closing.
- 15:29Don't talk about the Bay.
- 15:30I know, I feel bad, the Bay is closing.
- 15:32But anyway, when you go to like a place to buy perfume or men's fragrances and they spray, and then they give you a little bowl of coffee beans.
- 15:39Yeah, and you stick your nose to try and cleanse the nose palate.
- 15:43Yeah.
- 15:43But we can't do that here because it is coffee.
- 15:45Right.
- 15:45We wouldn't be cleansing our palate.
- 15:47No, it wouldn't make any sense.
- 15:47We would be enhancing the, or exaggerating the taste.
- 15:51That's why we're just using water to cleanse our palate.
- 15:52Right, that's why we're using water.
- 15:53Okay.
- 15:53All right, so I gotta be careful here because I got Espresso Tonic all over me here.
- 15:59All right, this is our next one.
- 16:02The next one I know I've had before and I really enjoy.
- 16:04Yes.
- 16:05It is a milk-based beverage.
- 16:07Milk-based?
- 16:09A milk-based?
- 16:10So if you're, what is that that you can't have milk when you're, like, is that like...
- 16:15Lactose intolerant?
- 16:17Yes, lactose intolerant.
- 16:18I was gonna say gluten.
- 16:19No.
- 16:20But gluten, can you have milk? Yeah I don't know.
- 16:22I don't know about the gluten thing.
- 16:23Yeah, just not if you are lactose.
- 16:24So if you are lactose intolerant, take a pill before you drink this one.
- 16:28Maybe just avoid it altogether.
- 16:30Well, yeah, or take three pills.
- 16:32Okay, this is what?
- 16:33This is an iced chai.
- 16:35Iced chai.
- 16:35And I love a good chai.
- 16:37Chai.
- 16:38Yeah.
- 16:39Where does chai come from?
- 16:40India.
- 16:41India.
- 16:41That's right.
- 16:42Yeah.
- 16:42Chai comes from India.
- 16:44So this is an iced chai.
- 16:45What's in an iced chai?
- 16:45This is an iced chai latte.
- 16:47Iced chai latte.
- 16:47So it's a latte, but it's got chai in it.
- 16:49So it has coffee in it.
- 16:49Yeah.
- 16:50It's got chai in it.
- 16:51And milk.
- 16:51And milk.
- 16:52Yeah.
- 16:52And a little bit of cinnamon.
- 16:53And oh, is that what that is?
- 16:55No, no.
- 16:55Nutmeg?
- 16:56Cinnamon?
- 16:56Well, I don't know.
- 16:58Some exotic Indian type thing.
- 17:01I don't know.
- 17:02Smells like cinnamon.
- 17:03Does it?
- 17:03Yeah.
- 17:03Maybe it is.
- 17:04You're right.
- 17:05Okay.
- 17:05All right.
- 17:05On the count of three.
- 17:06Ready?
- 17:07One, two, three.
- 17:15It's one of my favorites.
- 17:16Oh, that, oh, that is so good.
- 17:21It is, isn't it?
- 17:22It's a little sweet.
- 17:23Yeah, I gotta say.
- 17:24No, it is.
- 17:24It's a little sweet, but man.
- 17:26You could probably order it half sweet.
- 17:28I think I have, actually, in the past.
- 17:30I know, I'm giving it away that I've had this before.
- 17:33But yeah, I've asked them to do it half sweet, because if you're like me, you don't like mega sweet.
- 17:38But this is very good iced.
- 17:40This, I could see right now, if you, if it was like 90 degrees, I don't know what that is in Celsius.
- 17:46But if it was like nine, I don't, I don't know.
- 17:48I'm not the generation of Fahrenheit, not Celsius.
- 17:51But if it was like 90 degrees, you'd want to be sitting out on the patio.
- 17:55At the Wall Coffee Roasters.
- 17:57They have a patio.
- 17:58They do.
- 17:58You could be sitting out on the patio, drinking a chai latte.
- 18:03I'm giving this one a 9.5.
- 18:05A 9.5, okay.
- 18:06I'm going to give this one, I'm going to give this one a 9.
- 18:10Okay.
- 18:10And the only reason I can't give you 9.5.
- 18:12Yes, yes, too sweet.
- 18:13It's a little sweet for me.
- 18:14Yeah.
- 18:14But other than that, this is a fabulous drink.
- 18:17I know.
- 18:17I love this drink.
- 18:18It's great.
- 18:19Man.
- 18:19And I think, you know what, here at the Wall Coffee Roasters, they can make anything iced.
- 18:23I know.
- 18:24But this is, the iced chai latte.
- 18:26Yeah, it's really good.
- 18:27Let's say that again.
- 18:28Iced chai latte.
- 18:30That's fantastic.
- 18:31Delicious.
- 18:32I love it.
- 18:32Okay, so we've had the Blueberry Honey Flat White.
- 18:36We've had the Espresso Tonic.
- 18:38Yes.
- 18:39And now we've had the chai.
- 18:40The chai latte.
- 18:41The iced chai latte.
- 18:42Oh, fantastic.
- 18:44But.
- 18:46Oh, this next one, this is the best because.
- 18:52This is a new drink.
- 18:55Brand new.
- 18:56Brand new.
- 18:56Actually, so brand new.
- 18:58It was made literally 21 minutes ago.
- 19:02That's right.
- 19:02Maybe 22.
- 19:03Not on the menu.
- 19:04Not on the menu yet.
- 19:05No, no, no, maybe.
- 19:08Hopefully, it will be on the menu.
- 19:10And you and I, we concocted this drink.
- 19:13Yes, we did.
- 19:14Last night, when we were sitting here thinking, what are we going to do for tomorrow's show?
- 19:19Right.
- 19:19And we thought, well, and we, Michael was here and Brendan was here and we were talking and we came up with the idea of a brand new drink, a summer drink.
- 19:29It is a summer drink.
- 19:30For the Wall Coffee Roasters.
- 19:31That's right.
- 19:32No, you wouldn't want this drink in February, but you will want this drink in July.
- 19:36And you'll understand when to see the photos on our Instagram page.
- 19:39Right.
- 19:39So, but for total transparency, you and I have not even tried this drink yet.
- 19:45No.
- 19:45No, but we've named it.
- 19:47Yes.
- 19:47Okay.
- 19:48What's the name?
- 19:48The name of this drink is the JC.
- 19:52The JC.
- 19:53The JC.
- 19:54Okay.
- 19:54I know what you're all thinking, but don't think that that's, it's not that.
- 19:57Okay.
- 19:58The JC stands for?
- 20:01What would, well, it's Jennifer and Cam.
- 20:02Jennifer and Cam, because we do the podcast.
- 20:05This is Jennifer.
- 20:05I'm Cam.
- 20:06And we do the ABA Coffee In The Park podcast.
- 20:08That's exactly.
- 20:09And we invented this drink.
- 20:11So it's called the JC.
- 20:12Should we tell everybody what's in the drink?
- 20:15Sure.
- 20:15Or should we try it first and then tell them?
- 20:17Okay, let's try it.
- 20:18Okay.
- 20:18So you'll see in the pictures, we have a little umbrella because it's very tropical.
- 20:23It is very tropical.
- 20:23It is very tropical.
- 20:24There's actually something very tropical in here.
- 20:26There's sun's out.
- 20:26I feel like I'm on a beach somewhere.
- 20:28Oh, look at this.
- 20:28The sun just came out.
- 20:30Because they knew we were having this drink.
- 20:32All right.
- 20:33So on the count of three.
- 20:34Oh, yeah.
- 20:35He says to stir it a little bit.
- 20:37The ice might have melted, but that's okay.
- 20:38Okay, here we go.
- 20:39One, two, three.
- 20:49I like it.
- 20:49That's good.
- 20:50I like it.
- 20:51It's good.
- 20:52It's really, this is so refreshing.
- 20:54It is very refreshing.
- 20:58This is like, this is like mid-summer, three o'clock in the afternoon, sun's at its highest peak, beating down upon you, and you need something to quench your thirst.
- 21:14This is it.
- 21:14This is it right here.
- 21:15The JC.
- 21:16So just so everybody knows, do you want to tell them what's in the JC?
- 21:19Yes.
- 21:19So the JC is a tropical green tea.
- 21:24Tropical green tea.
- 21:26We're not kidding.
- 21:26It's actually a tropical green tea.
- 21:28No, it's what it's actually called.
- 21:29Tropical green tea.
- 21:29Tropical green tea.
- 21:30Club soda.
- 21:31Club soda.
- 21:32And pineapple.
- 21:33And a chunk of pineapple.
- 21:34A chunk of pineapple.
- 21:35I don't know if they'll...
- 21:36They might not do the chunk of pineapple.
- 21:38No, but maybe, maybe we could get them to put a little pineapple juice.
- 21:44Come on.
- 21:44And...
- 21:45Pineapple juice would be amazing in this.
- 21:46We have little umbrellas.
- 21:48Yes, we do.
- 21:48Little tiny umbrellas in there for like little tiny people.
- 21:51Well, they might not get the umbrellas if they come in.
- 21:53I'm going to tell Michael they should have the umbrella.
- 21:55This is...
- 21:56I really like this.
- 21:56This is good.
- 21:57This is...
- 21:57It's not too sweet.
- 21:59It's not too flat.
- 22:01The carbonation makes it a nice nose kind of fizzy kind of drink.
- 22:06This is really good.
- 22:07I really like your idea of the pineapple juice though.
- 22:11Oh, man.
- 22:13I'm...
- 22:13excuse me.
- 22:14I got to have another...
- 22:14this is amazing.
- 22:17I really like that.
- 22:18Wow.
- 22:19So what would you give it out of a ten?
- 22:20Oh, a ten.
- 22:21Oh, a ten.
- 22:22The JC.
- 22:23The JC.
- 22:23Ladies and gentlemen, far and wide, if you're listening to us overseas, I'm sorry, you can't have...
- 22:29you won't...
- 22:29unless you come here, but the only place you're going to get a JC this summer is at the Wall Coffee Roasters.
- 22:35Now, tell everybody, because we had this conversation with Michael.
- 22:38We did.
- 22:39Yeah, I think.
- 22:42What conversation did we have?
- 22:43If you come in to the Wall Coffee Roasters...
- 22:47Now, again, this might not be on the menu, but if you come in and say, I heard about the JC on the ABA Coffee In The Park podcast.
- 22:54Okay.
- 22:54Can I just say, like, every hamburger restaurant has a secret menu.
- 22:59Did you know that?
- 22:59McDonald's has a secret menu.
- 23:01If you go down to the States and you go to In-N-Out Burger, they have a secret menu, Chick-fil-A, which we now have two of.
- 23:07What's the Chick-fil-A?
- 23:08Yeah, they do.
- 23:10What's on the secret menu?
- 23:11I can't tell you.
- 23:12You'll have to, we'll have to, I'll show you after.
- 23:14All right.
- 23:14But if you come to the Wall Coffee Roasters, it's not on the menu.
- 23:17But if you order the JC, the JC, you will get 10% off.
- 23:2310% off.
- 23:24Of the JC.
- 23:25Of the JC.
- 23:25Yeah, no, yeah, no.
- 23:26Not everything.
- 23:27You can't have like 15 lattes.
- 23:29But if you order the JC, you will get 10% off.
- 23:32That's right.
- 23:33It's phenomenal.
- 23:33And what I want people to do, is if you order the JC, take a picture and tag us on Instagram.
- 23:41Yes, tag us on Instagram.
- 23:43Yeah, ABA Coffee In The Park podcast.
- 23:46I don't know how to do any of that, but I'm sure you know how to do that.
- 23:50Anyway, and you know what?
- 23:52What would be even better is if you like, you order it here at the coffee shop, or you take it to go, show us all the places you're having a JC.
- 24:01This would be awesome.
- 24:03It's like the traveling bear around the world.
- 24:05That's right.
- 24:06So if you work in the park and you drive a big truck, while you're driving your truck, you're having a JC.
- 24:13Perfect.
- 24:13Or if you're sitting at your desk typing, you're having a JC.
- 24:16I love it.
- 24:16Or if you're just out for a stroll, you're having a JC.
- 24:20Well, you might not want to stroll in the park.
- 24:22It's a little dangerous.
- 24:23Well, don't walk on the main roads.
- 24:25No, there's no sidewalk.
- 24:26But anyway, I'm just saying, this is incredible.
- 24:28Invite your friends, get them over, have JCs for everybody.
- 24:32Invite them to the coffee shop.
- 24:33Yes.
- 24:34And have a JC.
- 24:35Brilliant.
- 24:35Yeah, I love it.
- 24:36This is, I'm really pleased with this drink.
- 24:38I'm really happy.
- 24:39This is the best thing we've done to date.
- 24:40No, I agree.
- 24:41I think we'll perfect it a tad more.
- 24:42I think we could perfect it a tad more, but it's okay.
- 24:44Maybe the pineapple juice will perfect it a little bit more.
- 24:47But so thank you to Michael.
- 24:49Thank you to Caleb.
- 24:50Caleb, thank you.
- 24:51Caleb, thank you.
- 24:53Thank you for making the, all you guys.
- 24:54Thank you.
- 24:55Yeah.
- 24:55They're all looking at us.
- 24:56Thanks for, yeah, thumbs up.
- 24:58So thanks guys.
- 24:59They made it this morning.
- 25:00They concocted it.
- 25:02First time ever.
- 25:04Yeah.
- 25:04I think Kaden may have videoed it.
- 25:06So we may even have the creation.
- 25:08I know.
- 25:09It's so exciting.
- 25:09Of the JC on video.
- 25:12So this is fantastic.
- 25:13So, excuse me, the JC, we're gonna have merch, I hope.
- 25:18We're thinking about merch.
- 25:20Limited summer time only.
- 25:22Oh yeah.
- 25:22This is only for like summer.
- 25:23This is only for summer.
- 25:24Yeah.
- 25:25What would JC drink?
- 25:27That's gonna be our wristbands.
- 25:29And maybe some T-shirt.
- 25:31I don't know.
- 25:32We'll figure out something.
- 25:33But it'll be, it's gonna be a hit.
- 25:36Listen, you're missing out.
- 25:37If you don't head down here between, That's right.
- 25:39now and the end of summer to get a JC.
- 25:41That's right.
- 25:41You only have four months.
- 25:44And summer goes by so fast.
- 25:46So if you're asking, maybe you're asking the question, where is the Wall Coffee Shop?
- 25:50That's a very good question.
- 25:52And you're saying, where is beautiful downtown Acheson?
- 25:5627717 Acheson Road, in Acheson.
- 25:59In Acheson.
- 25:59It's literally 10 minutes from Edmonton.
- 26:01And like five minutes from Spruce Grove.
- 26:03Right.
- 26:04And like, you know, like just Google it.
- 26:06That's why we have phones now.
- 26:07Put it in the Google Maps and it'll bring you right here.
- 26:10Matter of fact, if you put JC in there, it might even bring you here.
- 26:13Probably not.
- 26:14But if enough people did, it would, cause the algorithms would remember that.
- 26:18Anyway, I'm just saying.
- 26:19So I'm so excited about the JC.
- 26:23Anyway, so the Wall Coffee Roasters, again, I just want to say thank you to Michael.
- 26:28Yes, and thank you to Michael.
- 26:30His staff are amazing.
- 26:30They put up with us every week.
- 26:32Every week.
- 26:32They reserve the table for us.
- 26:35When our guests come in, we treat them to a tea or a coffee, whatever they want.
- 26:38Now, this summer, we'll treat them to the JC.
- 26:41That's what they'll be getting.
- 26:42Whether they want it or not, you're gonna have the JC.
- 26:45And so just saying, if you're a guest, you're having the JC.
- 26:48That's all I'm saying.
- 26:49So anyways, it's gonna be great.
- 26:50It is.
- 26:51So yeah.
- 26:51So well, you know what, I can't believe we were trying to think of other things to talk about today, but I don't think we need to because time is almost up.
- 26:59Really?
- 26:59Yeah, almost.
- 27:00Yeah, we're like a couple of minutes away.
- 27:03Tell us about the Women In Leadership event coming up.
- 27:06Our favorite event of the year.
- 27:07It is her favorite event of the year.
- 27:09On May 14th, we are having our second annual Women In Leadership event.
- 27:14Second annual.
- 27:15Not the first, the second.
- 27:16Not the first.
- 27:16The first sold out.
- 27:17Second almost sold out.
- 27:19There's four tickets left.
- 27:20Is that it?
- 27:20That's it.
- 27:21Wow.
- 27:21I know.
- 27:22And I just want to give a shout out to our amazing panelists.
- 27:26Yeah.
- 27:26For the moderated fireside chat.
- 27:29Now we have Tamara Sanderson.
- 27:32Tamara.
- 27:32We've had her on the podcast.
- 27:33She has been on the podcast.
- 27:35RST.
- 27:35Yes, RST Trucking.
- 27:38Cheryl Watt from Northgate Industries.
- 27:42Cheryl's amazing.
- 27:43She is.
- 27:44She is.
- 27:44Yeah.
- 27:45And Stephanie Rodenkirchen, who's the owner of the Lotus Group.
- 27:49Lotus.
- 27:50Not to be confused with the hit TV show White Lotus.
- 27:53No, no.
- 27:54Sorry, probably shouldn't.
- 27:55I'm not editing that out, so I don't really care.
- 27:57But anyway, yeah, Lotus Group.
- 28:00Yeah.
- 28:00Yeah.
- 28:01These women are dynamite.
- 28:03Guys, we can't go.
- 28:04No, sorry.
- 28:05We're not allowed.
- 28:06And I've been told straight up, don't even come near it.
- 28:09But that sounds amazing.
- 28:11I know all three of those ladies and they are phenomenal.
- 28:13It'll be fantastic.
- 28:14Unbelievable.
- 28:15We have such talented women in Acheson.
- 28:18It just amazes me.
- 28:19Four tickets left sold out by the time this drops, it'll probably be sold out.
- 28:23Sorry.
- 28:24Next year, maybe next year, you'll have to apply early.
- 28:27Hey, our golf tournament's coming up.
- 28:29Yes.
- 28:29We sold out in...
- 28:31Oh, under 24.
- 28:32Under 24 hours.
- 28:34Yeah.
- 28:35The ABA Acheson Business Association Golf Tournament sold out in under 24 hours.
- 28:41Unbelievable.
- 28:42It really is.
- 28:43So, hey, lots going on.
- 28:44There sure is.
- 28:45ABA's doing lots, lots going on in Acheson.
- 28:48Very exciting.
- 28:48The gophers are out.
- 28:49The gophers.
- 28:50This is how we knew spring was really here.
- 28:52I know.
- 28:53You know that Punxsutawney Phil, what is that creature?
- 28:56That's a...
- 28:57Groundhog.
- 28:58Groundhog.
- 28:59That's fine that they do that.
- 29:00We know that in beautiful downtown Acheson, we know when it's spring because the gophers come out.
- 29:05The gophers are out.
- 29:06And this year's different.
- 29:07They just stand and stare at you.
- 29:08You said they're less... they are a little braver There's something going on with the gophers.
- 29:11I don't know.
- 29:12He just stood there and stared at me like, I was staring at him.
- 29:14But nonetheless, I don't know what's going on.
- 29:17Is it like a dog?
- 29:17Don't look at it in the eye.
- 29:18I guess.
- 29:19It's like...
- 29:20Anyways.
- 29:21Yeah.
- 29:21So anyway, it's spring.
- 29:23Well, hey, thanks for listening.
- 29:26I mean, seriously.
