Kristi Noem now has her own life-sized bronze statue, unveiled in Pierre as part of the Trail of Governors art project — complete with her horse Iceman and a QR code to hear her story. Sculpted by John Lopez and painted by David Uhl, it marks her historic role as South Dakota’s first female governor. But her public service journey hasn’t been smooth: after stepping down as governor to join the Cabinet, she left Homeland Security amid scrutiny over spending, then took on a new diplomatic role as Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas.
