- 8:35Speaker 12: I have a purpose and all you do just make
- 8:39Speaker 12: show your life is true.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Every time we walk along the streets, we see all

- 9:44Speaker 12: Live a purpose even every day. Just make sure you
- 9:48Speaker 12: live in jut a way, have a purpose and all you.
- 9:53Speaker 7: Do so your life is f.
- 10:06Speaker 5: And greetings and welcome yet again to another broadcast right
- 10:11Speaker 5: here with the Crue Podcast Season two. I am your host,
- 10:17Speaker 5: Queen Mother doctor chen Zera. You may hear people say
- 10:21Speaker 5: senate doctor, which means sister doctor. Because being part of
- 10:25Speaker 5: the sisterhood, working with our sister and working with women
- 10:29Speaker 5: near and far globally, right where we drop our bucket
- 10:35Speaker 5: is the opportunity for us to really share and take
- 10:37Speaker 5: things to the highest realm possible. And how we engage,
- 10:41Speaker 5: how we learn, how we share and operate together so
- 10:45Speaker 5: tonight we're going to have an opportunity to go over
- 10:48Speaker 5: a number of different things. Yes, International Women's Month, and
- 10:56Speaker 5: we bring that all the way live because every March
- 11:00Speaker 5: there are observances. Some of it is linked to women's
- 11:03Speaker 5: engagement in labor, equal rights and opportunities for women, breaking
- 11:09Speaker 5: the glass ceiling, as if there even is a glass
- 11:12Speaker 5: ceiling still left. However, it is also an opportunity here
- 11:17Speaker 5: for those that are seeing that scenery in the background,
- 11:20Speaker 5: that is the Maroon Sanctuary Lands here on the Isle
- 11:26Speaker 5: of Saint Croix in the Virgin Islands, adjacent to the
- 11:32Speaker 5: beautiful Caribbean Sea. And this is a space that holds
- 11:36Speaker 5: very sacred, very powerful, very historic and very cultural history,
- 11:47Speaker 5: tradition and legacy for people of African ancestry, people of
- 11:54Speaker 5: Native Indigenous ancestral ancestry. I want to make sure I
- 11:59Speaker 5: highlight that extension right. So, whether we're speaking of people
- 12:04Speaker 5: that are coming from the African experience, people coming from
- 12:06Speaker 5: that native Farmrindian indigenous experience, people that commanded, demanded and
- 12:13Speaker 5: did all that was required for them to remain free,
- 12:19Speaker 5: this is that space. So these are spaces now where
- 12:22Speaker 5: there are not that many residential properties. It's really a
- 12:27Speaker 5: space that is held as part of the territorial park
- 12:30Speaker 5: of the Virgin Islands, one of the first ones. It
- 12:33Speaker 5: is also a space where our ancestors of the African
- 12:39Speaker 5: legacy authentically were able to command their freedom go into
- 12:44Speaker 5: these spaces during the times of colonization, during the times
- 12:47Speaker 5: of enslavement, and move off the island and go into
- 12:54Speaker 5: this sacred waters and go to other places to command
- 12:58Speaker 5: demand their freedom.
- 13:00Speaker 9: Right.
- 13:00Speaker 5: So when you see these lands and I intentionally keep
- 13:03Speaker 5: them in part of this background so that we stay
- 13:07Speaker 5: grounded as sisters, as sister queens, as sister queen mothers,
- 13:13Speaker 5: alongside with our brothers, our brother kings, our brother king fathers,
- 13:19Speaker 5: so that we can actually have the balance and speak
- 13:22Speaker 5: truth to power in all of these different areas. So
- 13:25Speaker 5: this is just another opportunity for us to be able
- 13:27Speaker 5: to have conversation discourse. Want to say a special shout
- 13:32Speaker 5: out to the sisters that have already tuned in, you
- 13:35Speaker 5: know from the Crew podcasts. It's just the honor and
- 13:39Speaker 5: the privilege to be able to be joined by other
- 13:41Speaker 5: sistern that are doing this type of work, bringing information,
- 13:44Speaker 5: sharing their skills, talents and expertise, their business, branding, marketing,
- 13:49Speaker 5: their publications, their productions, and all of the other areas
- 13:54Speaker 5: that they are sharing with not only our inner communities
- 13:59Speaker 5: and our families and our villages, but in our regional
- 14:04Speaker 5: communities and our national communities and our international communities to
- 14:09Speaker 5: the best of our ability. So it gives us. It
- 14:13Speaker 5: gives us an opportunity to really speak about a few
- 14:16Speaker 5: things here in the Virgin Islands. March is also Virgin
- 14:20Speaker 5: Island's History Months, So it's a time that is actually
- 14:23Speaker 5: designated by law or the observance commemorations, celebrations of the achievements,
- 14:33Speaker 5: host of contributions, challenges, history, culture, and just the overall
- 14:40Speaker 5: social realities around governance, around liberation, around Jurisprovence, law, around
- 14:48Speaker 5: health and wellness, around creative arts, of course, sciences, and
- 14:54Speaker 5: much much more, and the contributions made by persons from
- 14:59Speaker 5: these Virgins Islands. While I sit on the island, reside
- 15:03Speaker 5: and work on the Isle of Saint Croix, I have
- 15:06Speaker 5: the joint privilege of also extending my work in our
- 15:10Speaker 5: neighboring islands that make up the Virgin Islands of the
- 15:13Speaker 5: United States, Saint Thomas, Saint John, as well as Water Island,
- 15:22Speaker 5: and I speak of it in that coolistic realm, because
- 15:27Speaker 5: sometimes persons may hear about the Virgin Islands and only
- 15:30Speaker 5: think of one island, but as you see, it's floral.
- 15:33Speaker 5: So the idea is to remember where Saint Croix is
- 15:36Speaker 5: known as the twin city and the cultural capital of
- 15:40Speaker 5: the Virgin Islands. Because we have Frederickstead our western major town,
- 15:46Speaker 5: Christianstead our eastern major town, with on eighty four square miles,
- 15:51Speaker 5: and then in the Isle of Saint Thomas known as
- 15:54Speaker 5: Rock City, a todd smaller search for square miles, and
- 16:00Speaker 5: their main area is Charlotte Emily right. And again they
- 16:04Speaker 5: do have east and west dynamics, a lot of beautiful sites,
- 16:09Speaker 5: historic areas, wonderful public spaces. They're known more for their engagement.
- 16:15Speaker 5: More of the cruise ship tourism focuses there in Saint Thomas,
- 16:20Speaker 5: and then the Isle of Saint John, which they call
- 16:23Speaker 5: Love City, which is twenty square miles and of a
- 16:29Speaker 5: significant portion of Saint John. And I don't hold any bars.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Twelve thousand ages right, nine thousand plus are goes are
- 16:40Speaker 5: leased to the National Park Service, and it's preserved as
- 16:43Speaker 5: a very significant pristine Virgin Islands National Park I think
- 16:49Speaker 5: it's important for persons to get the context. And you
- 16:52Speaker 5: might have heard me mention Walter Island and Walter Island
- 16:57Speaker 5: two square miles tiny, tiny, again carry some of the
- 17:02Speaker 5: history legacy of some of the Free Africans that have
- 17:10Speaker 5: populated that space. Because it's very close, very adjacent to
- 17:15Speaker 5: Saint Thomas, right by Charlotte Omiley, you can actually see it.
- 17:19Speaker 5: Some people swim there and as well as Hassel Island,
- 17:22Speaker 5: which is Hassel Island is also part of the National
- 17:25Speaker 5: Park Service of the Virgin Islands. And I just think
- 17:28Speaker 5: to just give context. Some persons are comfortable and aware
- 17:32Speaker 5: and know what our spaces comprise, what our spaces look like,
- 17:37Speaker 5: and are able to get some context to some of that.
- 17:41Speaker 5: So I'm gonna share. I like to you know, I
- 17:45Speaker 5: am the book person, I'm the bibliophom, and so I
- 17:49Speaker 5: know that some of the things that we tend to
- 17:52Speaker 5: highlight here in our broadcast, especially talking about building a
- 17:58Speaker 5: new legacy, it lets us speak about things that are
- 18:00Speaker 5: happening current, but we want to start from a space
- 18:04Speaker 5: where it's empowering, where it's also giving us opportunities. And
- 18:09Speaker 5: I lean to get some other publications so that I
- 18:12Speaker 5: can read some things that I don't like to just
- 18:15Speaker 5: share what's coming from my head off the top of
- 18:19Speaker 5: the cup. I like to prepare and share things that
- 18:23Speaker 5: really bring some wellness, some holistic wellness, some upliftment in
- 18:29Speaker 5: regards to where we are. And so I'm going to
- 18:34Speaker 5: share this particular piece again for those persons that may
- 18:38Speaker 5: not be familiar. Living life is a sacred practice by
- 18:42Speaker 5: one of our sisters, sister Queen.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Sharon Chambers.
- 18:50Speaker 5: Excuse me, Sharon Paris Chambers. I always know her as
- 18:53Speaker 5: a sister Oshun, so I tend to speak of her
- 18:56Speaker 5: in that form. But she has a book, very nice publication,
- 18:59Speaker 5: and we've been encouraging persons to go online. It's available
- 19:03Speaker 5: as an ebook and it's living life as a sacred practice,
- 19:07Speaker 5: discover yourself as a source of creation. And it's a
- 19:11Speaker 5: wonderful publication that highlights a number of things in regard
- 19:17Speaker 5: to reminding us that you were life, and that you
- 19:21Speaker 5: are life, You are love, You are part of the
- 19:25Speaker 5: essence in this case, and I'll read what was inscribed
- 19:28Speaker 5: for me. You were life and love, the essence of womanhood,
- 19:33Speaker 5: a queen, a shocked warrior. Never change, Let your light shine.
- 19:38Speaker 5: And this was shared with me in her inscription for
- 19:42Speaker 5: me when she gave me this copy of her publication
- 19:45Speaker 5: by his sister, Queen Sharon O'shoon Parish Chambers, and it's
- 19:50Speaker 5: available online. We can share that link as well. But
- 19:54Speaker 5: I'd like to highlight like there's different sayings that she
- 19:58Speaker 5: has in her publication and then there followed with these descriptors, right,
- 20:03Speaker 5: so to just kind of give you some words, soundpower,
- 20:05Speaker 5: some strength, as sisters, as brothers, as families, as leaders,
- 20:10Speaker 5: as healers, as scientists, as artists, as creatives, and much more.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Your ancient future is expressing you in the now. Did
- 20:21Speaker 5: you hear that your ancient future is expressing.
- 20:28Speaker 2: You in the now?
- 20:31Speaker 5: You are the essence of life and greatness. Your genome
- 20:36Speaker 5: holds the secret of your timeless history. Your ancient future
- 20:41Speaker 5: is expressing you in the now at this very moment.
- 20:46Speaker 5: You are the sum of your past, present, and future.
- 20:51Speaker 5: Human beings are unique among creatures. They possess a fascinating
- 20:56Speaker 5: capacity to advance their emotional intelligence. You are unique, having
- 21:03Speaker 5: the capacity to reflect, imagine, and impact your experience with
- 21:09Speaker 5: your thoughts and lucid dreams. Practice living in the now
- 21:15Speaker 5: and hence your spiritual development to your imagination and faculties.
- 21:21Speaker 5: You only have today to challenge yourself move one step
- 21:27Speaker 5: close up to your divinity by expressing your ancient future
- 21:34Speaker 5: in the now. So this is part of the sacred practice.
- 21:37Speaker 5: So after she gives you the words sound power, and
- 21:41Speaker 5: she gives you the descriptive, then Sister Queen Sharon Oshun
- 21:46Speaker 5: Parish Chambers gives you a sacred practice, and in this
- 21:50Speaker 5: case it's the Heart of the Rose. Find a quiet
- 21:54Speaker 5: place to spend a minimum of ten minutes for this
- 21:58Speaker 5: sacred practice. Reflect on the heart of the rose. Review
- 22:04Speaker 5: the Heart of the Rose meditation, which is part of
- 22:07Speaker 5: the reading, to recall details. The benefits of this practice
- 22:12Speaker 5: will lure you to repeat this thousand year old practice.
- 22:17Speaker 5: Often when practice with full intent, you become more energetic,
- 22:23Speaker 5: more revitalized, and revivified. I have to check up and
- 22:28Speaker 5: look up that word. That was a scrabble moment, right,
- 22:31Speaker 5: But I want you to hear the affirmation that comes
- 22:35Speaker 5: with this particular speace. I am energy and vibration. I'm
- 22:42Speaker 5: going to say that one more time. I am energy
- 22:47Speaker 5: and vibration. What a fabulous way to welcome one of
- 22:52Speaker 5: the most illustrious young sister Queens that I've had to join,
- 22:57Speaker 5: privilege of working with teaching in certain circles, dancing with
- 23:06Speaker 5: working on protests, on commanding publication pieces. So it is
- 23:12Speaker 5: just an honor and a privilege for me to have
- 23:16Speaker 5: joined us this evening, one who is skilled in as
- 23:21Speaker 5: an international human rights lawyer, as a former soon to
- 23:26Speaker 5: return to the legislature of the Virgin Islands former senator,
- 23:31Speaker 5: as a founder of the Virgin Islands Youth Advocacy Coalition,
- 23:37Speaker 5: when she was considered a youth and a host of
- 23:42Speaker 5: other arcolodes. That I could just sit here and we could.
- 23:45Speaker 5: I would have to sip tea for a while because
- 23:53Speaker 5: her bio is a broadcast. So for the purposes of tonight,
- 23:58Speaker 5: I just really want to courage our listeners, our viewers
- 24:04Speaker 5: to remember what we started with in terms of I
- 24:08Speaker 5: am energy and vibrations. So let us welcome our beloved
- 24:14Speaker 5: sister Queen Attorney Genevieve. What a cur you know, this
- 24:23Speaker 5: can get very animated.
- 24:27Speaker 13: Yes of blessings, blessings, blessings you like and can blessings
- 24:33Speaker 13: to all those who are.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Beautiful broadcasts.
- 24:37Speaker 13: It is a joy month and celebrate personal history and
- 24:42Speaker 13: celebrate as you know, you see as women and women
- 24:47Speaker 13: around the world.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Of course you don't have the national y.
- 24:51Speaker 14: Yeah, and it's just it's a it's a joyous and
- 24:56Speaker 14: when we look at you know, putting these two months
- 24:58Speaker 14: that you know, these two again months.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Together on to some of the things you continue to
- 25:07Speaker 2: do us as.
- 25:07Speaker 5: People, well, I'm very great share that, yeah, and I would.
- 25:14Speaker 13: Also share that I'm just thank you guy there for
- 25:18Speaker 13: your continued works and bringing about I'm just the celevation
- 25:22Speaker 13: on the love of education and untain transpire others.
- 25:26Speaker 2: And as I continue mission, one day we'll have you women.
- 25:31Speaker 6: To see.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Mos how women leadership and the future friends.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Greatful. I'm I'm also going to do my moment of
- 25:43Speaker 5: shout outs because I definitely would like to give thanks
- 25:47Speaker 5: to Sister Primeston that Whiteside for tuning in being part
- 25:50Speaker 5: of this the Crew podcast you know, made possible do
- 25:53Speaker 5: at least the invitation made to me by Sister Queen
- 25:56Speaker 5: Angela Thomas Smith. So we just want to make sure
- 26:00Speaker 5: we highlight the sister Queen Laonia Michelle little John, So
- 26:06Speaker 5: I'm really grateful for the support as well as author
- 26:08Speaker 5: Black Diamond. I see the first Assistant President General of
- 26:13Speaker 5: the Universal Negro Improvement Association African Communities League RC twenty
- 26:18Speaker 5: twenty none other than Baba san goor bay Yay. So
- 26:25Speaker 5: he's in the house and that could be a whole.
- 26:27Speaker 5: That's like I said, in the future, I know that
- 26:29Speaker 5: we're gonna be having some variety of persons joining us,
- 26:32Speaker 5: so the persons can recognize we operate as a family,
- 26:36Speaker 5: we operate as a village, we operate as Nishan people,
- 26:40Speaker 5: and we come with governance and ideas that are actionable
- 26:45Speaker 5: when we're speaking, so some of it, Yes, we're gonna
- 26:47Speaker 5: have fun. We're gonna speak of things and the light
- 26:50Speaker 5: and all kinds of elevation conversations and meditation and the
- 26:54Speaker 5: vibration and energetics and all of that. But we're also
- 26:57Speaker 5: gonna be speaking of things. Remember the hashtag actionable deliverables.
- 27:02Speaker 5: Things that we can speak about, but things that we
- 27:05Speaker 5: can implement practice that are tangible that help save our children,
- 27:10Speaker 5: our men, our women, our families and our communities long term.
- 27:15Speaker 5: I also would like to send a special shout out
- 27:17Speaker 5: to Sister Queen Thomas. Thank you very much for sharing
- 27:22Speaker 5: and just bringing this energy with us through us all
- 27:26Speaker 5: the time and offering that kind of support because each
- 27:29Speaker 5: one teach one, while each one heal one. We're going
- 27:32Speaker 5: to be bringing some of that into the fruition of
- 27:34Speaker 5: our conversation this evening. I see brother David Christian, who
- 27:38Speaker 5: is like the podcast stop. I don't even call him podcaster,
- 27:42Speaker 5: the podcast stop right because he has been doing this
- 27:45Speaker 5: for a long time and using different platforms right here
- 27:48Speaker 5: in the Virgin Islands and making sure that just about
- 27:50Speaker 5: everybody that has something of substance to say and is
- 27:55Speaker 5: doing the work. Brother David Christian, just no, I see you,
- 28:00Speaker 5: I seal right, and I want to give thanks and
- 28:02Speaker 5: praise for the support in that regard. Frederick Beatti would
- 28:07Speaker 5: like to say good evening as well as we continue
- 28:10Speaker 5: this conversation and another one of our form runners, Freedom
- 28:14Speaker 5: five Ties, you know, trail Blaze us right here in
- 28:19Speaker 5: the Bulgian Islands. She claimed everything though she just she
- 28:22Speaker 5: claimed Belgian Islands, Caribbean, America's the Earth right, But yes,
- 28:27Speaker 5: brother day, I love it. But I'm also sharing a
- 28:30Speaker 5: shout out in a lot of respect to our media
- 28:34Speaker 5: specialists like no other powerful artist, creative money professor, all
- 28:41Speaker 5: of that and some in addition to being a mother
- 28:44Speaker 5: awesome one at that. And that's nothing other than sister
- 28:47Speaker 5: Queen Daha Anita Cooper. Anybody can go and you see
- 28:50Speaker 5: Dara Monita Cooper just a bazilion connections, teaching media, taking
- 28:58Speaker 5: it to the next level, so that those of us
- 29:00Speaker 5: that may not have all of the skills, talents and
- 29:03Speaker 5: expertise on some of these media spaces if you don't know,
- 29:07Speaker 5: link with her again, branding, marketing, that's part of her
- 29:11Speaker 5: her em. And I'm really grateful to have my god
- 29:14Speaker 5: daughter Darwinica Cooper join us as well. And I see
- 29:18Speaker 5: and I don't know if he's been in this network
- 29:19Speaker 5: and see me in this capacity, So I'm very grateful
- 29:23Speaker 5: to see Chief Walking Eagle. We know him as Brother TESTROYD. Phillips,
- 29:29Speaker 5: Senior of Opia Tano International, heling through Saint Thomas, representing
- 29:35Speaker 5: the entire Virgin Island Caribbean Americas in terms of indigenous
- 29:40Speaker 5: Titano Kalinago culture and traditions. In addition to being a
- 29:45Speaker 5: real serious, serious, I'm gonna keep saying it, serious athletics coach.
- 29:52Speaker 5: We're gonna have to have him come on the show.
- 29:54Speaker 5: That's gonna be probably a little bit of humor, because
- 29:56Speaker 5: that's a whole the Phillips tribe. That's a whole conversation
- 30:01Speaker 5: in of itself. And I'm very very grateful for sisters
- 30:04Speaker 5: and brothers that are tuning in sharing with us to
- 30:08Speaker 5: be part of this conversation so we can just go
- 30:10Speaker 5: right all a minute like we usually do. Sister Queen Genevieve,
- 30:15Speaker 5: you know, I'm really grateful that you were able to
- 30:19Speaker 5: share with us because I know you have your own
- 30:20Speaker 5: broadcaster for doing, you know, in your preparation for your
- 30:24Speaker 5: next layer of returning to legislature and continue to serve
- 30:28Speaker 5: as an ongoing, pragmatic, proactive leader in our community here
- 30:33Speaker 5: in the Nton Islands. So I would really love for
- 30:35Speaker 5: you to just think about the Virgin Islands Youth Advocacy Coalition,
- 30:39Speaker 5: what motivated you to establish that, and some of the
- 30:43Speaker 5: things that are particular to how you deal with observances,
- 30:48Speaker 5: you know, whether it's Virgin Island's history, Women's history, the
- 30:52Speaker 5: United Nations observance from March from the Perth, you know
- 30:56Speaker 5: regarding the International Day honoring victims of enslavement and the
- 31:02Speaker 5: transagnantic slave trade, you know, whatever. I know that you've
- 31:05Speaker 5: served as a representative to different initiatives, whether it's through
- 31:10Speaker 5: the Obama administration as well as the Permanent Form for
- 31:16Speaker 5: People of African Descent in the International Decade for People
- 31:19Speaker 5: of African Descent and other iterations of international work. So
- 31:24Speaker 5: please share some of that with us. What were your motivations?
- 31:27Speaker 5: What are the things you would like us to bring
- 31:30Speaker 5: us a call to action tonight?
- 31:34Speaker 2: Thank you so much. And I can tell you back
- 31:40Speaker 2: in two thousand and nine when you know, one of
- 31:47Speaker 2: the things that was about Halloween brands, and.
- 31:55Speaker 13: So I started started the organizations.
- 31:59Speaker 8: Interesting plag my each child and I because I really
- 32:04Speaker 8: wanted to go organization that is focused on ours in
- 32:12Speaker 8: politics and I supported a number.
- 32:16Speaker 13: So very early on in bioc's history, we were called
- 32:19Speaker 13: to testify the number of senators in Hus.
- 32:22Speaker 5: We had one year.
- 32:23Speaker 2: We actually used report card to focus on what senators
- 32:26Speaker 2: in the.
- 32:26Speaker 13: Verse rounds were essentially working on youth and civics le legislation.
- 32:32Speaker 2: It was very interesting and I do want.
- 32:33Speaker 13: To thank all the senators that time who really said
- 32:36Speaker 13: took part a majority, they take part, so they take
- 32:39Speaker 13: a little offense, but I explained to them and they
- 32:41Speaker 13: had their role breakfast system in place and the senators
- 32:44Speaker 13: certainly who offered legislation to support youth by higher points,
- 32:49Speaker 13: and one of those senators in particular to highlight its
- 32:52Speaker 13: former Senator Positive Nelson, who actually created the Legislative Device Council.
- 32:58Speaker 2: And so in many ways we supported that, testified and supported.
- 33:02Speaker 13: That legislation and then did a lot of the recruitment
- 33:06Speaker 13: of young people from children children as was from both.
- 33:10Speaker 2: The districts with Saint crinctonomy and now district, and so
- 33:12Speaker 2: I was very out of that effort.
- 33:15Speaker 13: We also got very involved also to engaging on a
- 33:19Speaker 13: matter of civics HELPNY schools. And so we also testified
- 33:25Speaker 13: when we support US and France's as a measure to mandate.
- 33:30Speaker 2: A Civics course in order to graduate. And there was
- 33:33Speaker 2: also the Board of Education on the technoledge for a
- 33:36Speaker 2: board member very more.
- 33:37Speaker 13: Head to actually from being a civics conference where I
- 33:42Speaker 13: was invited as the president to give you my thoughts
- 33:45Speaker 13: on why we actually made civics from can I got
- 33:49Speaker 13: into pop and even get into preschool because I still
- 33:52Speaker 13: believe that if when we get to a point in
- 33:54Speaker 13: the vision as we were teaching civics from preschool to
- 33:57Speaker 13: twelfth grade, we're going to see a lot more young
- 33:59Speaker 13: people interested in politics. They're going also they're going to vote,
- 34:03Speaker 13: participating in the process as well as it's.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Going to really help push our lead if the leadership
- 34:10Speaker 2: as a whole. We live in a country that doesn't
- 34:11Speaker 2: really support CIVIS and the national data is free alarming.
- 34:16Speaker 13: As I shared, we've recently shared in one of our
- 34:19Speaker 13: initiatives were pushing through BIAC and having conversations with the
- 34:22Speaker 13: youth that by.
- 34:23Speaker 2: In large, it's a twenty two percent of the national
- 34:26Speaker 2: base in terms of young.
- 34:27Speaker 13: People who are you know, who are who are basic
- 34:30Speaker 13: under censors and that's a very low number.
- 34:32Speaker 2: And so in the visions my industry we.
- 34:35Speaker 13: Have compiled the information and data is something we're also
- 34:38Speaker 13: very passionate about and unfortunately it's not done enough. I
- 34:41Speaker 13: do urge, you know, us to really examine how many
- 34:44Speaker 13: of our children are graduating from school now being that
- 34:46Speaker 13: disimanded of course, and how many children really understand civic
- 34:51Speaker 13: and it's not just do you know who your senators are?
- 34:53Speaker 2: How especially for them that and so I will definitely
- 34:57Speaker 2: say we have our work cutoff for us, but and
- 35:00Speaker 2: I also.
- 35:01Speaker 13: Don't acknowledge with this has been involving yourself, doctor Eu,
- 35:04Speaker 13: because when we talk now about what we've done at
- 35:06Speaker 13: the international level, I have the pleasure in honor of
- 35:11Speaker 13: you know, a number.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Of conveniences at the university.
- 35:15Speaker 13: Also that time I was teaching their part time teaching
- 35:17Speaker 13: courses and crime invention teaching course of course, a business law,
- 35:21Speaker 13: business in Munication and other courses. And that the Gen
- 35:24Speaker 13: Zero in her capacity as the as the head of
- 35:28Speaker 13: director of the Personal Spot and Cultural Center, held a
- 35:31Speaker 13: number and she's the one that really introduced me to
- 35:34Speaker 13: the concepts around the International decade, because before it was
- 35:38Speaker 13: the International Decade of the African Descent, it was international
- 35:41Speaker 13: recognition of the national year to recognize the fool African Descent.
- 35:45Speaker 2: And so doctor Gen Zero has been long involved in
- 35:49Speaker 2: what we term an.
- 35:50Speaker 13: Idpad at those of future you know, we follow me
- 35:52Speaker 13: and based books hashtag id pad and I encourage you
- 35:55Speaker 13: all to do that.
- 35:56Speaker 2: But we see idepad where we're recognizing us.
- 35:59Speaker 13: Our recognition that development justice for us with black people
- 36:02Speaker 13: of Africic ascent.
- 36:04Speaker 2: And so we started that pretty very early, very early on.
- 36:07Speaker 13: We actually Bayack took part in the cayman A University
- 36:13Speaker 13: held they held the annual conference of the conference every
- 36:16Speaker 13: Fear where doctor Carla Corbin was sitting speaker that the
- 36:22Speaker 13: corman for those who are not aware, and doctor Corbin
- 36:25Speaker 13: was the external.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Face advisors for several governors and up until governor from
- 36:32Speaker 2: Turnble and and essentially essentially you have essentially have with
- 36:40Speaker 2: in the case of.
- 36:41Speaker 13: Doctor Corbin who is mentioned, a lot of people who
- 36:45Speaker 13: mentioned being other members of the organization. So we presented
- 36:48Speaker 13: at that conference. We presented basically you know, our thoughts
- 36:53Speaker 13: around the econization and intended that conference in Bayack has
- 36:59Speaker 13: not a lot of things in terms of con contest.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Of you know, care Com.
- 37:03Speaker 13: We've been pushing, we've been asking for the administrations and
- 37:07Speaker 13: more than one now of you know joining as an
- 37:10Speaker 13: associate member. And I've done that through my capacity by
- 37:12Speaker 13: it as well as my.
- 37:15Speaker 2: As an activist.
- 37:17Speaker 13: And with that, just fast forwarding to twenty sixteen, I
- 37:21Speaker 13: was selected as a fellow for the National Decade for
- 37:25Speaker 13: bol African Descent we conclude this year, and with that,
- 37:30Speaker 13: through the fellowship, raising my capacity in how to advocate
- 37:36Speaker 13: at an international level. So it did involve as very
- 37:39Speaker 13: intense fellowship where we have to present. I had the
- 37:43Speaker 13: pleasure of presenting on a matter of our colonial issues.
- 37:47Speaker 13: Right to vote him, that's a major one. Our help
- 37:51Speaker 13: rights economics, you know, every thing we can think of
- 37:54Speaker 13: in terms of when we talk with him the rights,
- 37:56Speaker 13: so we say the colonization, we're talking about all these things.
- 38:00Speaker 13: And with that and I just for by way of
- 38:03Speaker 13: background to those listeners, and so it's a viewing.
- 38:07Speaker 2: On my on my my I honed my understand of
- 38:11Speaker 2: human rights on the Redding in off school.
- 38:14Speaker 13: One of my credentials is having actually study international human
- 38:19Speaker 13: rights slaw.
- 38:19Speaker 2: So I've been lived for quite some time.
- 38:22Speaker 13: And so for the Follos was a great opportunity for
- 38:24Speaker 13: me to find to really build those skills, build local
- 38:28Speaker 13: skills even further. And I can tell you into presenting
- 38:31Speaker 13: an international level is very technical for those who are unfamiliar.
- 38:37Speaker 13: You have to present in about three minutes. So I
- 38:41Speaker 13: have to take basically, you know, decades of versions oppression
- 38:46Speaker 13: and put it into a one page doctumnities for the.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Whole points very finance and.
- 38:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 38:55Speaker 2: So and with that is you know the next shoal
- 38:58Speaker 2: went at the end enough to percent and I say
- 39:01Speaker 2: that to same one.
- 39:02Speaker 13: It's something that doesn't as zer and I have talked
- 39:05Speaker 13: about with others we have there's a training that has
- 39:09Speaker 13: to happen. Even when we talk about local advocacy, it
- 39:13Speaker 13: requires training. When you study all the movements and the
- 39:17Speaker 13: civil rights they did a lot of training.
- 39:20Speaker 2: If those you can.
- 39:21Speaker 13: Watching most recent we have during that History month, a
- 39:25Speaker 13: lot of the advocates, all the things.
- 39:26Speaker 2: That took place, they plan, they plan, and they trained,
- 39:30Speaker 2: and so we have.
- 39:31Speaker 13: One of the things that I'm going to being to
- 39:34Speaker 13: work on is really training on community action and there's
- 39:38Speaker 13: a method and there's a way.
- 39:39Speaker 2: To get things across in the community.
- 39:43Speaker 5: I'm very thankful for you sharing what you shared because
- 39:47Speaker 5: it gives some context because you're absolutely correct. It was
- 39:50Speaker 5: an International Year for People of African Descent or Honor
- 39:55Speaker 5: about twenty eleven, and from that than the actual UN
- 40:03Speaker 5: designated International Decade the People of African Descent was put
- 40:07Speaker 5: in place for being effected from January twenty fourteen, twenty fifteen,
- 40:14Speaker 5: forgive me, until twenty twenty four December the end of
- 40:19Speaker 5: this year. However, many persons don't even know that there
- 40:23Speaker 5: was an international let me be very specific, A United
- 40:26Speaker 5: Nations General Assembly designated International Decade for People of African
- 40:33Speaker 5: descent that comes to a close December third first of
- 40:36Speaker 5: this year, and there's a movement now and recommendations and
- 40:42Speaker 5: documents and testimony in place to encourage the General Assembly
- 40:48Speaker 5: to extend this International Decade, so there will be a second,
- 40:52Speaker 5: proposed second International Decade for people of African descent where
- 40:57Speaker 5: we can actually put some more actionable, deliberable boots to
- 41:01Speaker 5: the ground efforts to really address recognition, justice and development
- 41:06Speaker 5: for people of African ancestry. Also, what exists is this
- 41:10Speaker 5: permanent homeen which has been in place from last year.
- 41:16Speaker 5: It's been giveful and from twenty twenty two. They have
- 41:20Speaker 5: their first convening in twenty twenty two December, and then
- 41:25Speaker 5: they have another conveniing last spring in twenty twenty three,
- 41:29Speaker 5: and then they will have their third convening that is
- 41:33Speaker 5: scheduled for this April in Geneva. I believe between Honor
- 41:38Speaker 5: about the fourteenth to the seventeenth of April. And it's
- 41:41Speaker 5: really important for persons to be aware that many of
- 41:45Speaker 5: the persons that are in the forefront of some of
- 41:47Speaker 5: these efforts are women of African descent. I just need
- 41:51Speaker 5: to highlight that women of the world are engaged, but
- 41:55Speaker 5: these particular efforts have really been led them the current
- 42:01Speaker 5: the incoming the former presidents in her situation of the
- 42:08Speaker 5: Permanent Forum for People of back Home Descent with doctor
- 42:11Speaker 5: epste Campbell, and I just think it's important. I think
- 42:14Speaker 5: it's important to know well Campbell Epstey, it's after read
- 42:18Speaker 5: of her her other last name and known as doctor Campbell,
- 42:21Speaker 5: and I think it's important that people know that. And
- 42:23Speaker 5: she's a former vice president, one of the first women
- 42:28Speaker 5: of African ancestry to be a vice president in the
- 42:32Speaker 5: country of Costa Rica, and I think it's important out
- 42:36Speaker 5: coming out of that leadership position. She then led in
- 42:39Speaker 5: the first in the first nouns with the perminic Forum
- 42:43Speaker 5: for People of backcam Descent within the un and is
- 42:46Speaker 5: continuing to serve in that particular forum. And this year
- 42:50Speaker 5: it's moving to a new president, none other than doctor
- 42:54Speaker 5: Jim Schumer out of Saint Lucian Appre you know, very
- 42:57Speaker 5: active in her coom, you know, very knowledgeable, were coming
- 43:00Speaker 5: out of the academic space of the University of the
- 43:04Speaker 5: West Indies, but also very close, very tied to doing
- 43:09Speaker 5: work you know with Chara com in other Caribbean America's
- 43:14Speaker 5: Africa europe global efforts. And I think it's really critical
- 43:19Speaker 5: for persons to just be aware that these programs, these initiatives,
- 43:25Speaker 5: these institutions do exist. And here we have a number
- 43:30Speaker 5: of Virgin Islanders.
- 43:31Speaker 9: That are.
- 43:34Speaker 2: And that and so for those who are listening at
- 43:37Speaker 2: the forefront.
- 43:41Speaker 13: And doctor Michael were the forefront of the establishments of
- 43:47Speaker 13: the Permanent.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Forum for People were for.
- 43:53Speaker 13: HM and Michael Fushion was us leading us engaging around
- 43:57Speaker 13: the world.
- 43:58Speaker 2: And so that's why and little and here I know
- 44:07Speaker 2: this first time. It's not easy being.
- 44:10Speaker 13: So small because a lot of times I have to
- 44:12Speaker 13: go into these rooms and I have to remind people that.
- 44:17Speaker 2: I am present. We are present on thanks together.
- 44:29Speaker 5: And she's happened to say that last no, say that
- 44:35Speaker 5: last part one more time please.
- 44:36Speaker 2: And so that's what.
- 44:40Speaker 13: I think you went.
- 44:43Speaker 5: At the maybe on the conversation which we haven't.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Attended in years.
- 44:51Speaker 13: It's because we ourselves are now moving our It puts
- 44:54Speaker 13: to Verson's in a very bad position when we don't
- 44:57Speaker 13: participate in the U N and care com. And that's
- 45:00Speaker 13: why I like time we talk, Oh, what's our territories?
- 45:03Speaker 2: Say yes.
- 45:04Speaker 5: A lot of times you will find that because some of.
- 45:07Speaker 13: The other territories leaders are advocating at the national level
- 45:11Speaker 13: and putting that pressure they they oftentimes aren't being dealt
- 45:16Speaker 13: and given given much better privileges even under the colonial framework.
- 45:22Speaker 13: The versions is a lot of absence myself at your
- 45:24Speaker 13: other advocates at the core menu.
- 45:27Speaker 2: While he's not much, there's.
- 45:28Speaker 5: Advisor to continues to remain committed to our.
- 45:33Speaker 13: Rights and virginal lenders, and so he participates and me
- 45:37Speaker 13: in these meetings where our government, I mean that's our
- 45:40Speaker 13: governor and the person that he.
- 45:42Speaker 2: Personally had points to the extrong PRIs advisor and that
- 45:45Speaker 2: that position has.
- 45:46Speaker 13: Been vacant since the Young administration, and it was only
- 45:48Speaker 13: a couple of years of confusing to the Young administration
- 45:52Speaker 13: when we actually had someone in that position. So as
- 45:56Speaker 13: those of you online and those are listening at Theaholis
- 45:59Speaker 13: podcasts as well calls, I will say though myself there
- 46:11Speaker 13: and others, we remain committed to this work.
- 46:15Speaker 2: So whether the governor, the sites that ever show up, whatever,
- 46:23Speaker 2: but we.
- 46:23Speaker 5: Also let them know. I want to highlight that I
- 46:26Speaker 5: don't wish this stuff just go like right, we come
- 46:31Speaker 5: back and we tell people, well, this is what's happening.
- 46:33Speaker 5: And this is what they said, and this is what
- 46:35Speaker 5: it looks like, and these are the questions some of
- 46:37Speaker 5: us have been for those will get the joke from this,
- 46:41Speaker 5: Some of us will be in these spaces, these international spaces,
- 46:47Speaker 5: videotape footage and send it live so that our community
- 46:53Speaker 5: is a where our leaders are aware, even if it's
- 46:56Speaker 5: not necessarily their priority at this particular time, because we
- 47:00Speaker 5: recognize that there are a number of priorities that are
- 47:03Speaker 5: crucial here in the Virgin Islands, within our Caribbean America's spaces,
- 47:09Speaker 5: et cetera. And I just want to make sure that
- 47:11Speaker 5: I highlight that because I don't wish for people to
- 47:13Speaker 5: think this like we just go and just do whatever
- 47:16Speaker 5: we want. Our thing is to make sure that we
- 47:18Speaker 5: are inclusive and not excluded from some of these engagements
- 47:25Speaker 5: like that support because people will say that I've been
- 47:29Speaker 5: to CARACM Convenience, I've been to Caribbean Pan African Network convenience,
- 47:34Speaker 5: I've been at Latin American Eastern Caribbean Commission convenience and
- 47:41Speaker 5: African Union convened. I can go through this list and
- 47:44Speaker 5: people ask the minute they hear that you're from the
- 47:47Speaker 5: Virgin Islands and yes, I tie my connections to the
- 47:50Speaker 5: wider Caribbean because my family's from several islands and grew
- 47:53Speaker 5: up in these different English speaking, Spanish speaking, Dutch and
- 47:56Speaker 5: Parpiamental speaking French speaking spaces. But this is which part
- 48:00Speaker 5: I live. This is where I get to teach and
- 48:03Speaker 5: share and engage. And it's really critical for us to
- 48:07Speaker 5: be able to have this information and offer these sharing
- 48:10Speaker 5: so people know that the Virgin Islands is part of
- 48:13Speaker 5: the Caribbean too, and that we have voice and presence
- 48:17Speaker 5: and achievements and contributions and greatness and vibration and energy
- 48:22Speaker 5: and exemplary scholars, not just regular scholars like exemplary right,
- 48:29Speaker 5: we have persons that are have contributed to significant change
- 48:35Speaker 5: for the human circumstance and condition globally, coming from Anti
- 48:40Speaker 5: Ford square miles their to four square of miles, two
- 48:43Speaker 5: Anti square miles, even two square mouths Watter Island. It's
- 48:47Speaker 5: really important for persons to get that. And then our
- 48:49Speaker 5: sisters and brought us in the British Virsion Islands because
- 48:52Speaker 5: most of us have some kind of tie connection between Tortola,
- 48:56Speaker 5: Virgin Gorda, Jos van Dyke and Nagata and then it's
- 49:00Speaker 5: spreads the wider Caribbean Americas, so that that way, the
- 49:04Speaker 5: minute we start asking about our grandparents and our great
- 49:08Speaker 5: great grand parents, it will keep us in a very
- 49:13Speaker 5: wide space, so that we actually are more global than
- 49:19Speaker 5: sometimes we even believe we are, while still being grounded
- 49:23Speaker 5: in the greatness and the richness of this space we
- 49:26Speaker 5: know is the Virgin Islands. And I want to highlight
- 49:28Speaker 5: that Virgin Islands of the United States our legal name,
- 49:33Speaker 5: according to the Revised Organic Act of the nineteen fifty
- 49:36Speaker 5: four that's still in effect, legal name Virgin Islands of
- 49:42Speaker 5: the United States USBI is easy to say, it's more
- 49:47Speaker 5: tourists appropriate. However, our legal name is Virgin Islands first
- 49:55Speaker 5: of the United States. Afterwards, I just need people to
- 49:58Speaker 5: get that clarity when people think about the Virgin Islands,
- 50:02Speaker 5: that you recognize Caribbean people predominantly people of African ancestry,
- 50:08Speaker 5: a large population tied to indigenity and native I'merindian culture
- 50:13Speaker 5: and traditions grounding this space, very spiritual, very sacred space.
- 50:19Speaker 5: Needs to highlight that. So don't get twists on just
- 50:21Speaker 5: san seas soun and fun. There's a whole realm of
- 50:25Speaker 5: greatness around the arts and sciences that govern the universe,
- 50:29Speaker 5: that are connected to this space. So that's why when
- 50:33Speaker 5: we're speaking about some of these things and we highlight
- 50:37Speaker 5: some of these conversations we're saying, and people may think,
- 50:40Speaker 5: oh mind, they're a little bit on the rabble rouser side.
- 50:44Speaker 5: I'm gonna take that as a compliment. I'm sure they
- 50:46Speaker 5: had names for people like Nelson Mandela too. I'm sure
- 50:49Speaker 5: they had names with people like Martin Luther King, Malcolm
- 50:52Speaker 5: X where we're going, Reverend Edward Wilman Lyde and Ruby Browse.
- 50:57Speaker 5: I'm just saying we can say some names, Marianne Golden, Christopher,
- 51:01Speaker 5: we could remase some right, Hubert Harrison, you don't know
- 51:04Speaker 5: where we can go with this. You understand there's a
- 51:07Speaker 5: number of persons, even ours are named after great you know,
- 51:11Speaker 5: Edith Williams. I'm just saying, you know, Rothschild, Francis, you know.
- 51:15Speaker 5: I mean there's people right here in the Virgin Islands
- 51:18Speaker 5: that made such an impact on global affairs. People forget
- 51:23Speaker 5: that someone from small space like Saint Croix. And I
- 51:27Speaker 5: keep coming back to Hubert Harrison for a couple of reasons,
- 51:30Speaker 5: because people think of him as just being radical and
- 51:33Speaker 5: the philosopher. And he used to call him Black Socrates.
- 51:36Speaker 5: That's not an easy title of whole when someone when
- 51:39Speaker 5: a when a when a community refers to as the
- 51:42Speaker 5: Black Socrates in terms of his philosophy and his ability
- 51:45Speaker 5: to speak and have skills and journalism, and that he
- 51:49Speaker 5: took time to teach a very great one how to
- 51:54Speaker 5: speak in public, none other than the Honorable Marcus Messiah Garvey.
- 51:58Speaker 5: I'm just saying, there's some things from a small space,
- 52:03Speaker 5: small space space much larger out of Jamaica, but a
- 52:09Speaker 5: lot of things come out of this, this this realm.
- 52:11Speaker 5: So that's why I'm very grateful. I'm looking at I'm
- 52:14Speaker 5: looking at some of these comments as well, Sister Queen Jennevie,
- 52:18Speaker 5: So I want to make sure I sent a special
- 52:19Speaker 5: shout out to sister Queen Moya and Zuri of the
- 52:25Speaker 5: A P R P. Nana. I know it's Nana Yauphibia right,
- 52:29Speaker 5: and so it's a powerful vibe to have her even
- 52:31Speaker 5: tune in and sharing and reminding us to stay ready,
- 52:35Speaker 5: ready systems. She's just saying stay ready right and giving
- 52:39Speaker 5: thanks to praise to we see your rescue. Yes, Okay, Sorry,
- 52:44Speaker 5: got a little excited to just as you know, and
- 52:48Speaker 5: I see my, I see one of my one of
- 52:51Speaker 5: my my, my, my, my road sister always say rolling
- 52:56Speaker 5: with Stormy with sister Queen Stormy, you know, coming out
- 53:00Speaker 5: of planet marketing and tell and travel really offering business
- 53:04Speaker 5: opportunities for us to be able to take this particular
- 53:07Speaker 5: work to the next level. I want to give thanks
- 53:10Speaker 5: for the support, the presence and again any of the
- 53:13Speaker 5: reflections and comments, because this is a conversation. Yes, and
- 53:17Speaker 5: Sister Queen Genevieve and I we do this frequent, so
- 53:20Speaker 5: we're we're just bringing out a couple of key points
- 53:23Speaker 5: of things that are linked to International Women's Months, linked
- 53:28Speaker 5: to Virgin Island's history months, and observances therein observations around
- 53:33Speaker 5: the permanent form the people of African descent. They just
- 53:37Speaker 5: you know, look at the UN site UN dot org.
- 53:40Speaker 5: Just go there and navigate and see for yourself what
- 53:43Speaker 5: has been taking place that is connected to absolutely absolutely,
- 53:51Speaker 5: so I know that they're gonna look at us because
- 53:53Speaker 5: you see how that hour just went like, so please share.
- 54:02Speaker 5: There's some things. Greeting system, tribute to parents is always
- 54:05Speaker 5: an other privilege. Then off for strength, give us strength,
- 54:11Speaker 5: give us energy, give us that vibration. That's what we're
- 54:14Speaker 5: speaking of.
- 54:14Speaker 2: And and the men who were on you know, it's
- 54:20Speaker 2: it's always powerful.
- 54:21Speaker 13: I remember when I was a member of the Uniationous
- 54:25Speaker 13: Women's Committee with the US National Communee, you and women,
- 54:28Speaker 13: and I was in Florida and we had you know,
- 54:31Speaker 13: females and the you know who were part of the
- 54:33Speaker 13: board and supported women's right.
- 54:34Speaker 2: So those powerful when you know we have males supporting
- 54:38Speaker 2: them's usership.
- 54:39Speaker 13: And I can definitely tell you it is about staying righty,
- 54:43Speaker 13: I will say, though, it's about us getting ready and
- 54:46Speaker 13: so for as I was encouraged.
- 54:48Speaker 2: For those who are interested, I've done that before.
- 54:50Speaker 13: So about a few years back, four years part fighters,
- 54:54Speaker 13: you know prior every four years we have an opportunity
- 54:57Speaker 13: to take part in our Colley Wes Universal Periodic Review.
- 55:01Speaker 13: I sendated the version on its first report. If they
- 55:04Speaker 13: take a while to put together. I basically had a
- 55:06Speaker 13: log about sixty seven years of r also history in
- 55:10Speaker 13: terms of how many promises we've the US has made
- 55:14Speaker 13: to us about our status and about the one attempt
- 55:18Speaker 13: in version's history that we made to address our status.
- 55:22Speaker 13: So now and of course for the Constitution. I do
- 55:24Speaker 13: want to highlight and encourage folks. I am was one
- 55:27Speaker 13: of the sponsors of the legation that resulted in the
- 55:31Speaker 13: creation of the sixth antipre Invention and Effort.
- 55:35Speaker 2: I do athology and Center of General Sudo as a
- 55:37Speaker 2: transponsoral myself and essentially that is an act in human
- 55:42Speaker 2: rights and so.
- 55:43Speaker 13: Soon you know, so again two women, you know, promote
- 55:46Speaker 13: something that's an important that which is our private constitution
- 55:48Speaker 13: document and encouraged persons to run process and.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Input the input. As an editor for the fifth I.
- 55:56Speaker 13: Remember just you know, just having you know, it's a
- 55:59Speaker 13: powerful thing to have that gender balance, and I continue
- 56:03Speaker 13: to ask for that, you know, there and us to
- 56:05Speaker 13: be more intentional, so as a senator than from an
- 56:08Speaker 13: office as sponsor. Gender equally, I would like to see
- 56:11Speaker 13: in the worst violence, our wards and commissions be equitable
- 56:16Speaker 13: general gender actly and.
- 56:18Speaker 2: It was it was large supporter, but I then could
- 56:21Speaker 2: definitely tell you there were and it was more efforts
- 56:25Speaker 2: more unfortunately, it was a lot more of men, more
- 56:28Speaker 2: men and women.
- 56:28Speaker 13: And even I'll put out publicly, I was really disappointed
- 56:32Speaker 13: that we have the daily news editor, said Minister Female,
- 56:38Speaker 13: who was disappointed by legislation, so as we as we.
- 56:42Speaker 2: Navigate Women's Instrum Month and Noman's rights.
- 56:47Speaker 13: One of the things I called to action and challenge
- 56:49Speaker 13: to us as women is to overcome our personal differences.
- 56:54Speaker 13: There is to work in together for our common cause.
- 56:58Speaker 13: There isn't a sort of higher friendship. It is a
- 57:00Speaker 13: blessing to have friendship. A lot of what keeps us back.
- 57:04Speaker 2: And withinniverse rounds, So it is that divide, you know.
- 57:08Speaker 2: But I do want to say my interest what's.
- 57:11Speaker 13: Successful, and that's really just you know, for me, you know,
- 57:15Speaker 13: gender putting our boards. I'm looking for more women in
- 57:18Speaker 13: public office, you know, publical office.
- 57:21Speaker 2: I'm looking for that.
- 57:22Speaker 13: I spent a decade involved in getting myself ready to run.
- 57:26Speaker 13: I thought women along with me to these Bookay yes,
- 57:33Speaker 13: and I encourage that.
- 57:34Speaker 2: And I do appreciate how many women you have leadership positions.
- 57:38Speaker 13: And then with that, continue to remind yourself that you
- 57:41Speaker 13: are a woman meeting and fighting against a lot of
- 57:44Speaker 13: the issues we face as women and being able to
- 57:47Speaker 13: reach out and help another sister. And the more we
- 57:50Speaker 13: reach out and help another system. But I see, and
- 57:55Speaker 13: so one of the things that I'm working is about
- 57:57Speaker 13: reach on building. I would like to start building very
- 58:00Speaker 13: interested if you should be interested. I want to hear folks,
- 58:04Speaker 13: you know, raise their hands and say yes, let's let's
- 58:06Speaker 13: go along, let's go to the un need. And as
- 58:08Speaker 13: a pertain to women, that's let us let us get together.
- 58:14Speaker 13: And I do acknowledge some of the things happening locally.
- 58:16Speaker 13: We have organizations as support women and Call to Action
- 58:20Speaker 13: is really authentic leadership.
- 58:22Speaker 2: There are a lot of entities organizations that do bring
- 58:25Speaker 2: women together. I say they're also too. Authenticity is important.
- 58:33Speaker 5: Brand well mm hmm, yeah, I want you to come
- 58:38Speaker 5: together with some of those tim goals you keep sharing
- 58:41Speaker 5: that point the harmony. M yeah, because part of what well,
- 58:50Speaker 5: two things I want to take that we need that.
- 58:57Speaker 2: Okay, mm hmm. Can you hear a job?
- 59:02Speaker 5: Okay, I was hearing. I have to mute. I think
- 59:06Speaker 5: when we're not speaking, there seems to be some distortion.
- 59:09Speaker 5: So I just wanted to I'm muting when you're speaking,
- 59:12Speaker 5: so that you can do the same when I'm speaking.
- 59:15Speaker 5: But I just hope. But I wanted to thank you
- 59:17Speaker 5: because we're getting to our closing element. But I wanted
- 59:22Speaker 5: to thank you for just joining us. Tonight on building
- 59:26Speaker 5: a New Legacy, which is part of the Crew Podcast
- 59:30Speaker 5: season two. In this particular platform and network, I want
- 59:33Speaker 5: to really extend my appreciation for you giving some context
- 59:38Speaker 5: to some of the things that we do around International
- 59:40Speaker 5: Women's Month, around virgin Oalyt's history, around the Permanent Forum
- 59:44Speaker 5: for People of African Descent, around the International Decade the
- 59:46Speaker 5: People of African Descent, around activities that support youth, what
- 59:51Speaker 5: you've been able to do as an academic, what you've
- 59:54Speaker 5: been able to do in the wider communitarian grassroots work
- 59:57Speaker 5: that you're involved in. You know, you've done things across
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: along not just general political structuring and infrastructure development and improvement,
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: but also around preparatory justice, reparations, human rights, education, and
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: specifically not just educational reform, but transformation of education, which
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: is very different right in terms of you know, whether
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: it's curriculu standards, assessment, evaluation, ethics, civics policy. So I
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: just would like persons to just acknowledge and be familiar
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: that that's some of the realms of some of the
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: areas that you have contributed to and continue to contribute to,
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: specifically making sure that the succession planning approach of making
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: sure that as we become elders, that we have already
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: prepared another set of generations plural to be able to
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: carry on this work and take it to even a
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: more elevated space.
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: For that, I'm very grateful for the work and the
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: opportunity to just you know, be part of the journey
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: is that we share and the journeys that I may
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: have started, but that I'm comfortable enough to know that
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: they're going to be, that they're in place right and
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: that you have done and you're doing the same thing
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: with making sure that there's that next layer of generation
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: builders that are going to be doing this particular work.
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: I wanted to also make sure that I highlight for
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: our listeners and viewers. You'll hear us speaking of doctor
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: Carlyle Corbyn and Doctor Carlyle Corbyn not only continues to
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: serve within as an international governance advisor to various nations, republics,
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: communities inclusive of presidential councils inside of the United Nations,
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: but he served under as an international Governance Advisor and
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: professional and specialist a KA ambassador within the Government of
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: the Virgin Islands for five different administrations, not one not
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: two five. So what you were hearing, Attorney Genevieve Whittaker
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: Chaer was based on skills, talents, and expertise of a
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: very powerful brother that works to replicate and teach his skill,
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: talented and expertise to the generations coming forward, so that
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: that way we are able to keep this momentum moving
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: forward when we speak of freedom, liberation, recognition, justice, development, revolution,
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: reparatory justice, reparations, restitute, whatever it is that we need
- 1:02:31Speaker 5: to do to build a stronger community, stronger nation, stronger society.
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: So we do our part amongst our shared humanity. Right,
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: So I offer that I want to send a special
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: shout out to Reverend Petris Byron, who's handling with tuning
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: in for Florida. I'm very grateful for that sharing as
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: well and for all of you that we're able to
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: spend some time us tonight. We know we're at our
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: last network of moments, so I just wanted to say,
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: tune in, we'll be coming back again. Read the broadcast
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: that I get to host as the first and the
- 1:03:07Speaker 5: third Thursday, eight pm Eastern Standard time, which is the
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: same as Atlantic since daylight savings happened on past Sunday,
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: but remember culture heals humanity. Land is our foundation and
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: spiritual harmony unifies us. We're going to be putting up
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: some of the publications that we've shared, some of the
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: marketing workshops and webinars that we offer. You heard me
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: speak of what a number of sisters in our sphere
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: as well as brothers and our sphere involved in. So
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: be a part of the solution. Do your contribution. Share
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: with us. What are the actionable deliverables. You want to
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: know more, you would like to care more, you would
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: like to heal more. That means we're going to do more,
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: and we'll do it together. Same respect. So let's give thanks.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: I believe that is my rhythm and I will go
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: to my habit purpose in Tuning Hotel and thank you everyone.
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: So you can have resciprocity. We have to live the
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: life life duty all intelligendus jo. If you have a purpose,

- 1:04:19Speaker 5: time have a purpose and all you do, so your
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: life is true life.
