- 1:06Speaker 1: like from Sherry. She says, great podcasts. The hosts are
- 1:09Speaker 1: down to earth and realistic without being mean spirited. Their
- 1:12Speaker 1: humor makes me smile every time I listen. Nice, Thank you, Sherry.
- 1:18Speaker 1: See how we see that is, folks, drop a rating

- 1:36Speaker 1: are fifteen hundred of us in here and our girls
- 1:40Speaker 1: at Girls Gone Hallmark only, well, we have like a
- 1:43Speaker 1: nice healthy amount of reviews, but not fifteen hundred reviews,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and they were encouraging members of the Facebook community to
- 1:51Speaker 1: leave us a good review, and I thank you for that.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Our Facebook group members are the best. They are the best.

- 2:14Speaker 1: talk about things that are not Talmark related, although behind
- 2:19Speaker 1: the scenes we are toying with adding a Hallmark specific tear.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Stay tuned, Stay tuned. Let's hear a synopsis for Melt
- 2:28Speaker 1: My Heart This Christmas. Okay. Glass blower Holly James finally
- 2:33Speaker 1: gets her break at the fern Grove Fair, where she's
- 2:36Speaker 1: invited to assist her Idol Bianca but Noam, but secretly
- 2:40Speaker 1: displays her own pieces under a pseudoname. When Bianca's creative
- 2:44Speaker 1: slump threatens the booth, her work becomes the surprise hit
- 2:47Speaker 1: of the fair, and when a reporter exposes her identity,
- 2:51Speaker 1: it damages her relationship with both Bianca and Jack. Holly
- 2:57Speaker 1: now has to repair the fallout and decide what kind
- 2:59Speaker 1: of artists she wants to be moving forward. Mount My Heart.
- 3:03Speaker 1: This Christmas was directed by Amy Force. Amy has twenty
- 3:06Speaker 1: directing credits, including two from last year's Hallmark Movies collection
- 3:10Speaker 1: Unwrapping Christmas Lily's Destiny and Unwrapping Christmas MIA's Prince. Ainsley
- 3:16Speaker 1: Gordon wrote the screenplay. She works as both an actor
- 3:20Speaker 1: and a writer, and this marks her twenty first writing credit.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Laura Vanderbert plays Holly. Laura has sixty nine acting credits
- 3:28Speaker 1: and last appeared in Hallmark on Miracle in Bethlehem, PA
- 3:31Speaker 1: opposite Benjamin Ayres. Stephen Huzzar plays Jack Dubois. Stephen has
- 3:37Speaker 1: seventy three acting credits and was last seen in The
- 3:39Speaker 1: Jane Mysteries as Detective John Cameron with Jody Sweeten. Jennifer
- 3:44Speaker 1: Wigmore plays Bianca Bonam. Jennifer has thirty four acting credits
- 3:48Speaker 1: and has appeared on shows like Cross and Why the
- 3:52Speaker 1: Last Man. Madeline Leon plays friend Collette with thirty four
- 3:57Speaker 1: acting credits. She last appeared on Hallmark in Fall Like
- 4:00Speaker 1: Snowflakes from twenty twenty four. Darren Baker appears as Walter.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Darren has eighty nine acting credits with seven upcoming projects.
- 4:07Speaker 1: He can most recently be seen in the Fox series
- 4:11Speaker 1: doc Have You Noticed a lot of actors? Yes? And
- 4:15Speaker 1: Doc Yeah, which is a series Wendy and I both
- 4:18Speaker 1: watch enjoy it very much. John Cohen's Jen plays Jack's dad.
- 4:23Speaker 1: This movie marks his sixty fourth acting credit and he
- 4:26Speaker 1: was last seen in The Perfect Setting from earlier this year.
- 4:29Speaker 1: We are going to take a quick break and come
- 4:31Speaker 1: right back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what is
- 4:42Speaker 1: your first impression of Melt my Heart this Christmas? Well, listen,
- 4:46Speaker 1: there's I candy in this movie, and for once, it's
- 4:50Speaker 1: not Stephen whozar Oh. I'm talking about the ornaments. I know,
- 4:57Speaker 1: not his dad. There's no other man in. I didn't
- 5:01Speaker 1: think you were talking about his dad. I'm talking about
- 5:04Speaker 1: the freaking ornaments were gorgeous. My first impression is it
- 5:09Speaker 1: must have been absolutely freezing on the set of this movie.
- 5:13Speaker 1: When when was this filmed, I don't know. When it
- 5:17Speaker 1: was snowing and freezing and you could see their breath
- 5:19Speaker 1: and I felt very sorry for them because it must
- 5:22Speaker 1: have been chilly. Yeah, that opening scene when they're in
- 5:26Speaker 1: the fair and they're outside and it's just like breath.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I'm like, whoa, it's old. They're at very very in
- 5:35Speaker 1: the Great White North. Well, let's talk what you liked
- 5:38Speaker 1: about this movie. Surprisingly, I have a healthy list, and
- 5:44Speaker 1: I know, okay, Look, Megan and I have chatted a
- 5:47Speaker 1: little bit via text about this movie. Spoiler Meghan didn't
- 5:51Speaker 1: like it. I enjoyed it. Now, I don't know why.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I don't know why because I went in with rock
- 5:59Speaker 1: bottom expectation. Sure, I know it. I even from like,
- 6:06Speaker 1: you know, months and months ago, when news of like
- 6:10Speaker 1: the movies were trickling out for countdown to Christmas, I
- 6:13Speaker 1: was like, this reads like an acquisition. And the only
- 6:18Speaker 1: way I say that, the only reason why I say
- 6:20Speaker 1: that is because at the time IMDb was like fully
- 6:24Speaker 1: completed for this movie, right, So I was like, well,
- 6:27Speaker 1: I had to have been out here, and then Hallmark
- 6:30Speaker 1: picked it up. I don't know I don't know if
- 6:33Speaker 1: that's the case. I think it is the case because
- 6:35Speaker 1: I saw another movie poster for it on IMDb or
- 6:40Speaker 1: on the production company's website. Actually, that's not the Hallmark poster,
- 6:43Speaker 1: so I do think it was made and then shopped.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Let's talk what we liked. I have a probably shorter
- 6:49Speaker 1: list than you can. We talk about the glass blowing. Sure,
- 6:54Speaker 1: I actually really liked the glass blowing scenes that we got.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I wanted more of that. Laura gets to at least
- 6:59Speaker 1: handle some of the equipment. We see her like swinging
- 7:02Speaker 1: it back and forth. I know that most of the
- 7:04Speaker 1: scenes are not her, but I liked seeing the bits
- 7:08Speaker 1: and pieces of that. Who the hell's Laura? Oh? The
- 7:12Speaker 1: actual actors? Okay, yeah, Laura as Holly. Yeah, yes, I'll
- 7:20Speaker 1: like there's that show Blown Away. They've ever seen that
- 7:22Speaker 1: on Netflix? The glass blowing competition, I have not. Yeah,
- 7:26Speaker 1: it's a it's a glass blowing competition, and so if
- 7:28Speaker 1: you like this sort of thing, you can get that there.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I like watching the process of glass blowing. Well, you know,
- 7:35Speaker 1: locally here in Orange County, the Laguna Art Fair has
- 7:39Speaker 1: a glass blowing exhibit there, like they have the kiln
- 7:43Speaker 1: or whatever they use to heat up the glass. Huh,
- 7:46Speaker 1: and you can watch them make it. Oh, that's very cool.
- 7:49Speaker 1: You stand out like outside this like cage thing. Sure
- 7:52Speaker 1: them do it. Yeah, it's pretty neat. It's that's in
- 7:55Speaker 1: the summer. But they also have a winter fare too,
- 7:57Speaker 1: so they may or may not do it into winter
- 8:00Speaker 1: the wintertime. But anyway, I agree. I thought it was interesting.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I'm like, wasn't super interested. I like the final product
- 8:07Speaker 1: of it. I thought the work was stunnying. Do you
- 8:12Speaker 1: know if there's any information of the actual ornaments, like
- 8:18Speaker 1: who actually made them? I couldn't find that. I tried
- 8:22Speaker 1: to find to see if there was some sort of
- 8:25Speaker 1: personal motivation for this story, because glass blowing seems like
- 8:30Speaker 1: a very specific art to choose. Yeah, and I couldn't
- 8:33Speaker 1: find anything about that. So I'm curious. Did they work
- 8:38Speaker 1: with a specific artist or did they just purchase these
- 8:41Speaker 1: glass pieces in order to use them in the movie.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Particularly in Beyonca's shop. There's quite a bit the gifts,
- 8:49Speaker 1: the shit wow so pretty, I really do pretty. And
- 8:55Speaker 1: the story behind them, the story behind it I thought
- 8:58Speaker 1: was really great too. Do you remember a Heidelberg Christmas
- 9:01Speaker 1: or a Heidelberg Holiday? I have not really exact title,
- 9:04Speaker 1: sob oh, I don't remember that, but I remember, you know,
- 9:09Speaker 1: she made those ornaments, but those were an actual artist.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Remember there was a whole not that there was a
- 9:14Speaker 1: whole thing, but like there was information about the artists
- 9:17Speaker 1: who actually made the ornaments. So I was like, is
- 9:19Speaker 1: that information available for this movie? I haven't found anything,
- 9:23Speaker 1: and neither have you. You said, correct. That bums me out
- 9:26Speaker 1: because I just thought they were so pretty, so pretty.
- 9:30Speaker 1: One of the highlights in this movie for me was
- 9:33Speaker 1: the female creative partnership between Bianca and Holly. It's an
- 9:39Speaker 1: absolute high point. Yes, it's this like relationship that pulled
- 9:43Speaker 1: me in. It was not the romance between Holly and Jack.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Like actually did not even care about that. I just
- 9:51Speaker 1: I thought it was compelling to give us a middle
- 9:56Speaker 1: aged woman who is in this artistic identity crisis, Like
- 10:01Speaker 1: I haven't seen anything like that on Hallmark. I thought
- 10:04Speaker 1: it was super relatable. I thought it was a bold
- 10:06Speaker 1: move in storytelling. I liked it. So I have some
- 10:11Speaker 1: thoughts on the character of Bianca and her story, but
- 10:13Speaker 1: I did love the moment at which her ice cold
- 10:17Speaker 1: heart does melt and she warms to Holly and takes
- 10:20Speaker 1: her under her wing, and they have that great scene
- 10:23Speaker 1: in their workshop where they're collaborating and she's going to
- 10:26Speaker 1: mentor her. I loved all of that very much me too.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Let's talk about Bianca then, okay, Oh, I thought you
- 10:35Speaker 1: had more to do well, it's all of my wishes. Oh,
- 10:37Speaker 1: it's in your wishes. Okay. Well, for me, I thought
- 10:40Speaker 1: Jennifer Wigmore as Bianca was perfection. She was giving full
- 10:45Speaker 1: Miranda Priestley, yes, with like a craft fair situation. But
- 10:51Speaker 1: what I like the best is, you know, we get
- 10:54Speaker 1: this very hard, rigid character and even her makeup. She's
- 11:01Speaker 1: wearing this very bold red lipstick, and then towards the
- 11:05Speaker 1: end we have this full softening and it's also reflected
- 11:08Speaker 1: in her look. She has this like lighter gloss and
- 11:11Speaker 1: I was like, kudos to the makeup department for going
- 11:15Speaker 1: along this, you know character arc. I thought it was
- 11:20Speaker 1: done really well. I liked Bianca. I'm interested to hear
- 11:23Speaker 1: your wishes. Okay. I also very much enjoyed Stephen Whosar
- 11:28Speaker 1: and Laura Vander have a hard time saying her name individually.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Like they're likable, they're watchable, they're romance didn't do it
- 11:37Speaker 1: for me. It was classic Hallmark pest to love pipeline situation. Right,
- 11:44Speaker 1: he's annoyed with her, she's plucky, they fall in love.
- 11:48Speaker 1: It was fine. That was fine. It was fine. And
- 11:53Speaker 1: my final like, which was a really funny line when
- 11:57Speaker 1: Jack's dad said he hired a social media manager quote
- 12:00Speaker 1: whatever that is ikey plus joke. I thought it was
- 12:03Speaker 1: really funny, mostly because it's like, very much reminded me
- 12:07Speaker 1: of my dad, who is a business owner, and he's like,
- 12:09Speaker 1: I'm not getting into that social media business. Nobody watches
- 12:12Speaker 1: that or nobody pays attention to that. I'm like, okay,
- 12:15Speaker 1: time marching on totally. I know my my mother recently
- 12:19Speaker 1: discovered Instagram and she's like, she's like, there's this guy
- 12:22Speaker 1: who dances. I'm like, oh, yeah, the one guy. She's like,
- 12:26Speaker 1: have you seen this guy who dances? I'm like, I'm
- 12:28Speaker 1: gonna need some more information, mom. I wrote that line
- 12:32Speaker 1: down as well. I also liked and I can't even
- 12:34Speaker 1: remember who said it, but I think it might have
- 12:35Speaker 1: been Bianca. She says, you're at a nine. I need
- 12:37Speaker 1: you at a four. Yes, yes, great line, loved it too,
- 12:41Speaker 1: really great. Are you ready to talk missions. Sure, I
- 12:45Speaker 1: have a long list. I apologize. Okay. First up, why
- 12:50Speaker 1: is jacksonming to Holly at the beginning? Like what he's
- 12:53Speaker 1: What is their backstory there? Yeah, it's unclear, right, Like
- 12:58Speaker 1: she's hungry to be in the fair, like to show
- 13:00Speaker 1: her stuff in the fair. Yeah, she keeps applying to
- 13:02Speaker 1: be in your fair. She's keeping you alive, dude, i'd
- 13:05Speaker 1: maybe be less mean. I understand maybe she's not the
- 13:07Speaker 1: caliber you want her to be, but you want people
- 13:10Speaker 1: to want you. Yeah. I didn't understand it. And it's
- 13:14Speaker 1: one of my least favorite like tropes. Sure me see this. Yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 1: the hydienx simeter was high in parts of this movie,
- 13:21Speaker 1: falling in heels, crashing into Jack, the many coats situation.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I'm spending the entire movie on edge waiting for a
- 13:29Speaker 1: major glass disaster, which happens. It was a major, but yeah,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I mean it was pretty minor in terms of what happened.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I was waiting for one of the priceless Banam snowflakes
- 13:40Speaker 1: to go flying across place. That's so funny, such a
- 13:44Speaker 1: weird spot in her showroom. Yes, yeah, so that scene
- 13:48Speaker 1: did worry me, and I thought that is what is
- 13:51Speaker 1: was exactly coming because she's like, don't touch anything in
- 13:54Speaker 1: my shop, and then she proceeds to touch everything in
- 13:56Speaker 1: her toop like, ma'am, you are there for one thing.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Don't go snooping around looking at shit you're not supposed
- 14:03Speaker 1: to be looking at. Yes, it still thought, Oh, she's
- 14:06Speaker 1: gonna break something and then that's gonna be a problem,
- 14:09Speaker 1: but it didn't go that way. Mm hmm. But yes,
- 14:12Speaker 1: in that scene, I was like, oh, God, stop running
- 14:14Speaker 1: through the showroom. You're gonna knock something over. Right. It
- 14:17Speaker 1: seems weird for them to be given the seal of
- 14:20Speaker 1: the season at the end of the season. I'm not
- 14:22Speaker 1: really sure how it's valuable now, Like season's over. What
- 14:25Speaker 1: next year you can be like I got the seal
- 14:27Speaker 1: of the season last year. Come it's worthless. Yeah, but
- 14:30Speaker 1: my my two big wishes. Look, I liked Bianca's transformation,
- 14:36Speaker 1: but I did feel like she was Miranda Priestley is
- 14:39Speaker 1: a great description. She's like a super villain here. She
- 14:42Speaker 1: can't be bothered to remember Holly's name. She tells her
- 14:45Speaker 1: to dress up, she gaslights her, like why would you
- 14:48Speaker 1: heels around glass? Do you have a death wish? Like? Come,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you told her to do that. That stuff is very
- 14:54Speaker 1: frustrating to me. Also, while I was very interested in
- 14:58Speaker 1: the resolution between Beyanca and Holly, I think I was
- 15:01Speaker 1: actively rooting against Holly and Jack getting together, so much
- 15:05Speaker 1: so that when I realized that the movie was almost
- 15:08Speaker 1: over and we still hadn't had a kiss or even
- 15:11Speaker 1: really a hint at romance, I started to dread it
- 15:15Speaker 1: and I felt like the final romantic moment was unearned. Yeah,
- 15:22Speaker 1: it was truly not even needed. Agree, not even needed. Well,
- 15:27Speaker 1: back to Bianca, I agree with everything you said, but
- 15:30Speaker 1: also on the flip side, I feel like Bianca was
- 15:33Speaker 1: feeling threatened by another artist who was doing similar work,
- 15:39Speaker 1: maybe even better work than her what she was currently
- 15:42Speaker 1: putting out. So I could see how she was like
- 15:48Speaker 1: internally angry, Yes, like everything. I was not viewing her
- 15:53Speaker 1: the way you were, as a woman at a crossroads,
- 15:56Speaker 1: and that does make me view her a little bit
- 15:58Speaker 1: differently that perspective. In addition, I, and this is one
- 16:04Speaker 1: of my wishes, I do think Bianca's outrage felt thin
- 16:10Speaker 1: like you're mad at Holly because she's an emerging artist.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Of course she didn't like she's under a pseudonym like
- 16:18Speaker 1: you haven't been very warm and welcoming. She's not gonna
- 16:20Speaker 1: tell you. Oh, by the way, I'm working under a
- 16:23Speaker 1: pseudonym in the in the Emerging Artist. Do you know
- 16:26Speaker 1: what I mean? Like, why would she tell her that? Right?
- 16:30Speaker 1: But it didn't make any sense to me, Like why
- 16:32Speaker 1: Bianca would be betrayed? Right, she didn't. She was unaware
- 16:36Speaker 1: because of great give me a break. It was super manufactured.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I agree. My other wish that I didn't really love
- 16:45Speaker 1: was the marketplace drama of like we might lose the
- 16:47Speaker 1: market storyline? Yeah, what are you doing with this space
- 16:52Speaker 1: year round? Like you might have to sell the land?
- 16:55Speaker 1: What the six weeks that the fair is not going on?
- 16:57Speaker 1: What's happening there? Yeah? Okay, So that's a good question
- 17:00Speaker 1: because like the Laguna Art Fair, right, like I said,
- 17:03Speaker 1: it runs in the summertime for several weeks and then
- 17:05Speaker 1: it runs in the winter time. But off season, I
- 17:10Speaker 1: don't know what the heck they do there. Maybe have events,
- 17:13Speaker 1: but other than that, I have no idea. I don't
- 17:15Speaker 1: know either. I wonder who owns that. Those are great questions,
- 17:18Speaker 1: but when they're in this position of needing to make
- 17:21Speaker 1: more money, it seems like, Okay, do something with this
- 17:23Speaker 1: the other ten and a half months out of the year.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Make it a pumpkin patch, make it an Easter egg punch.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Make it. But those are my only two wishes. Well,
- 17:32Speaker 1: let's talk to you to see that this was real snow. Obviously.
- 17:37Speaker 1: My question is I kept noticing that they, like the marketplace,
- 17:41Speaker 1: there's snow all over the marketplace and people are like
- 17:44Speaker 1: walking on top of like the pack snow. Now, I'm
- 17:48Speaker 1: born and raised in California, I don't know what that's like,
- 17:51Speaker 1: but I thought that they would be like, somebody would
- 17:53Speaker 1: shovel that so that you can walk without walking on
- 17:59Speaker 1: top of snow? Am I wrong? Well, I don't know.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I mean it seemed to be actively snowing through a
- 18:07Speaker 1: lot of this movie, so maybe it was hard to
- 18:09Speaker 1: keep up with. I don't know. It just seems dangerous
- 18:16Speaker 1: to be walking on top of snow, like thick snow.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I don't even know how to describe it, because it
- 18:24Speaker 1: doesn't snow where I live. Yeah, I mean people who
- 18:27Speaker 1: live where it snows are definitely walking on snow all
- 18:29Speaker 1: the time. Really, yeah, I mean things aren't automatically shoveled
- 18:34Speaker 1: at every moment, so yes, Oh, can you imagine your
- 18:37Speaker 1: pants are wet all the time. No, it would be miserable.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I would be I would hate it. You referenced earlier,
- 18:44Speaker 1: but Holly in those high heels. You thought it was
- 18:47Speaker 1: like too hygiene sye. But several times they showed her
- 18:50Speaker 1: like almost rolling ankle. Yes, I was nervous for her,
- 18:53Speaker 1: someone with thin bones like myself. This is watching a
- 18:57Speaker 1: horror movie unfold. It's like that is so painful. Yeah,
- 19:02Speaker 1: I was concerned for her. Crazy what else do you have?
- 19:07Speaker 1: I have a couple in the opening scenes where she's
- 19:09Speaker 1: bringing her her balls to the table of emerging artists.
- 19:13Speaker 1: They're just in a box, like with crumpled paper. I
- 19:16Speaker 1: was like, these are very fragile. Be a little more careful.
- 19:19Speaker 1: We get our third Taylor Swift reference of the season. Yeh.
- 19:24Speaker 1: She's like I was, I got you t Swift tickets
- 19:26Speaker 1: and I was like, my gosh, we've just talked about this.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I'm like another one, Like God, we need to put
- 19:32Speaker 1: that on a BINGO card because holy heck, who knew
- 19:36Speaker 1: I know? We need another pop culture touchstone in these movies.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Also in the final live stream. First of all, I
- 19:43Speaker 1: always have issues when they're like we went viral. I'm like,
- 19:45Speaker 1: your craft fares not going viral. People, I don't care
- 19:47Speaker 1: who you are, but they have twenty four thousand people
- 19:52Speaker 1: watching the final live stream, and my notes say I
- 19:55Speaker 1: think effing not. I apologize, but also no, I thought
- 20:02Speaker 1: it was funny too, because like, then all these people
- 20:04Speaker 1: start streaming into their craft fair and he's like, what's happening. Oh,
- 20:08Speaker 1: he's well, I guess you went viral here too. I
- 20:11Speaker 1: was like, nope, no, And there were waiting outside on
- 20:15Speaker 1: their phones happened to see it. Con I just it's
- 20:19Speaker 1: I don't like these we went viral moments. Yeah. Well,
- 20:23Speaker 1: I really thought about this a lot too. I was like,
- 20:25Speaker 1: who's interested in this? Well, I'm sure there is an
- 20:28Speaker 1: artist community that is interested in like glass blowing or
- 20:31Speaker 1: like these kraft fairs are whatever, but viral, I don't know. Look,
- 20:36Speaker 1: I might watch, like you said, like the Laguna Art Festival,
- 20:39Speaker 1: Like I might watch, you know, reels that they're posting
- 20:41Speaker 1: and be like, oh that might get me to go,
- 20:43Speaker 1: But those reels aren't going viral. They just might get
- 20:47Speaker 1: shared amongst the locals. Yeah. Well, what did you rate
- 20:51Speaker 1: mount my Heart this Christmas? I gave it three and
- 20:54Speaker 1: a half stars. I gave it three stars. You didn't
- 20:58Speaker 1: hate it as much as you said you did. I
- 21:00Speaker 1: didn't hate it at all. It just wasn't my favorite movie.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I think there's been worse. Oh absolutely absolutely. Hey, thank
