Transcript
- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Dutch with Fexingo. Ready for another tiny lesson? Luna: Totally ready. Last time we did tong and tand, my tongue and my tooth. I still remember how to say kiespijn. Lucas: Nice, you've got a good memory. Today we're moving up the face a bit. We're going to learn three new body parts: voorhoofd, wang, and kin. Luna: Ooh, that sounds fun. Let me guess... voorhoofd is forehead, wang is cheek, and kin is chin? Lucas: Exactly right. You're getting good at this. Let's start with het voorhoofd. Say it with me: het voorhoofd. Luna: Het voorhoofd. Lucas: Good. Now, that's the forehead. Can you point to your forehead? Luna: Sure, right here. Het voorhoofd. But why does it say 'het'? Lucas: Because it's a het-word. In Dutch, nouns are either de or het. We'll get more into that later. For now, just remember het voorhoofd. Luna: Het voorhoofd. Got it. Lucas: Next up, de wang. That's the cheek. Repeat: de wang. Luna: De wang. Lucas: Perfect. And the last one, de kin. That's the chin. Try it. Luna: De kin. Lucas: Great. Now, let's put them into a sentence. If your cheek hurts, you say, Mijn wang doet pijn. Can you try that? Luna: Mijn wang doet pijn. That means 'my cheek hurts', right? Lucas: Yes, exactly. And if you have pain in your chin, you say, Ik heb pijn in mijn kin. Let's hear it. Luna: Ik heb pijn in mijn kin. Lucas: Nice. Now, let's practice all three words again. I'll say the Dutch, you repeat: het voorhoofd, de wang, de kin. Luna: Het voorhoofd, de wang, de kin. Lucas: Perfect. So, imagine you're at the doctor's office. The doctor asks, Wat is er aan de hand? What's the matter? You can point to your cheek and say, Mijn wang doet pijn. Luna: Mijn wang doet pijn. That's useful. But what if I bump my chin? Like, I accidentally hit it on the table. Lucas: Then you'd say, Ik heb pijn in mijn kin. And hey, if you've been enjoying these episodes and want to keep them coming, a small donation helps us keep making them. You can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. I'll say the English, you say the Dutch. Forehead? Luna: Het voorhoofd. Lucas: Cheek? Luna: De wang. Lucas: Chin? Luna: De kin. Lucas: Excellent. Now, a little scene. You're at the doctor, you say, Dokter, ik heb pijn in mijn kin. The doctor looks at you and says, Laat me kijken. Let me see. Then you say, Mijn wang doet ook pijn. My cheek hurts too. Luna: Dokter, ik heb pijn in mijn kin. Mijn wang doet ook pijn. Lucas: Perfect. Now, what if you hurt your forehead? How would you say that? Luna: Hmm... I think ik heb pijn in mijn voorhoofd. Lucas: Exactly. Well done. So, to review: het voorhoofd, de wang, de kin. And the sentences: Mijn wang doet pijn, and Ik heb pijn in mijn kin. Luna: I feel like I've got it. Het voorhoofd, de wang, de kin. Mijn wang doet pijn. Ik heb pijn in mijn kin. Lucas: You're a natural. That's all for today's episode. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time on Learn Dutch with Fexingo. Luna: Tot ziens!
