- 0:01Colossians chapter 3 let us pray.
- 0:06Our Lord and our God and our King are everything.
- 0:09Father, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ.
- 0:13God I enter in to the most holy place.
- 0:17Lord God, you ripped the veil from top to bottom.
- 0:21Lord God Almighty, we come in. We come running in to the throne
- 0:26room of grace. God, we grab a hold of the hem
- 0:29of your Lord, we receive our healing today.
- 0:33Father, I pray that the Holy Spirit will well up within us,
- 0:38overflowing into our neighborhoods, into our
- 0:42workplaces, into all of society. God, I pray for the family unit.
- 0:47God, I pray that fathers will rise up in this hour and father
- 0:51their families, the Father their children.
- 0:54God, be great amazing husbands that lead their families to you.
- 1:00God, I pray in the name of Jesus for mothers to be motherly in
- 1:04this hour. I pray for them to be tender
- 1:06hearted and affectionate towards their children.
- 1:09God, I pray in the name of Jesus for the children to be obedient
- 1:14unto the parents. God, I pray in the name of Jesus
- 1:17for the family unit to be strengthened in this hour.
- 1:21God, I pray that you, Lord, will bring about all of your purposes
- 1:26and plans for this time, for such a time as this.
- 1:29Lord, I pray that prophecy will unfold right before our very
- 1:33eyes. God, I pray that we'll see you
- 1:37high and lifted up above all governments, above all people
- 1:41groups. God, I pray in the name of Jesus
- 1:44that you will fuel us God and cause us, Lord, to fall more
- 1:50madly and deeply in love with you.
- 1:53God, give us a zealous heart for your word and for your church.
- 1:58God, I pray for the ecclesia, the called out ones.
- 2:01I pray that you'll strengthen us in this hour.
- 2:05God, give us our marching orders.
- 2:07Help us to know what to do and when to do it and how to do it.
- 2:11God, I pray that you'll remove the spirit of timidity and fear.
- 2:15God, I pray that you'll cause us to be emboldened in the faith.
- 2:19God, I pray that we will not shrink back in the face of
- 2:23persecution. God, give us perseverance, give
- 2:26us endurance. God, produce character in our
- 2:30lives. It is becoming of a St.
- 2:32God, I pray in the name of Jesus that you will reign supreme on
- 2:37high throughout all generations for such a time as this.
- 2:41God, I pray that we'll get out of our own way.
- 2:43And Lord, I pray we'll get rid of of the sin in our lives that
- 2:47is holding us back from experiencing the fullness that
- 2:52you have for us. God, I pray that you'll help us
- 2:55to guard our eyes, guard our minds, guard our lips, Lord.
- 3:01And I pray that we will be marked with your goodness and
- 3:04grace and mercy and love and joy.
- 3:07And God, I pray that we will see all of your plans and everything
- 3:13that you have said come to fruition in this day, in this
- 3:17hour. God, help us to be patient.
- 3:19Help us to wait well, help us to listen for that still small
- 3:22voice. Help us to get out of our own
- 3:24way. Father, for you are so gracious
- 3:27and so kind and so loving. And God, we thank you for all
- 3:30the times that you've answered our prayers.
- 3:32Thank you for all the times that you've shown up and shown off
- 3:36and blown the pictures off the wall with your Shekinah glory
- 3:39where we are undone and we cannot minister any longer
- 3:43because of the presence that is in the room.
- 3:45So thank you Father, for revealing to us that You are and
- 3:50revealing to us that you move and revealing to us that You are
- 3:54mighty to save. And so God save those that are
- 3:57trapped in their own sin. God, I pray that you will rescue
- 4:02them. Break the chains of addiction,
- 4:05break the chains of violence. God, break the chains of
- 4:09generational curses. God, I pray that you'll bind the
- 4:13enemy God and cast him into the judgement that you have a
- 4:17waiting for him. Father, send the legion into the
- 4:20swine Father and have them to run down the hill.
- 4:23Father, I pray in the name of Jesus for a sound mind.
- 4:26God, I pray in the name of Jesus that you will make us whole and
- 4:31make us holy in your sight. Father, you are so good and so
- 4:35gracious and we love everything about you.
- 4:38And it's in Jesus Christ, holy and precious and powerful,
- 4:42majestic and glorious name that I pray.
- 4:46Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 4:52If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which
- 4:58are above where Christ sits on the right hand of God.
- 5:03He could not make it any more plain here, friends, that this
- 5:08is how we overcome all of the things that are coming our way.
- 5:13The fear, all of the tactics of the enemy, the lust, friends of
- 5:18the eyes and the lust of the flesh and the pride of life that
- 5:22creeps in unaware and it grabs a hold of us.
- 5:25It starts wrapping its tentacles around us.
- 5:29But if we will set our minds and set our eyes upon Jesus Christ
- 5:34the Author and the perfecter of our faith, then you will see all
- 5:39of the dross and the impurities, all of the disgusting pollution
- 5:43start falling off of you. Friends, we need to meditate and
- 5:47fixate ourselves upon Christ Jesus, the embodiment of God
- 5:53Almighty and that is how we will overcome and it is by the blood
- 5:57of the Lamb and the words of our testimony.
- 6:00Verse 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on
- 6:07the earth. It could not be more plain
- 6:09friends. And you know there are, there
- 6:12are a lot of sayings that go out and some of them sound good.
- 6:18You don't want to be so heavenly minded that you're no earthly
- 6:21good. But don't forget what God said.
- 6:24He said do not love the world or anything in the world.
- 6:29And he's telling us here to set our minds on heavenly things.
- 6:33And what you're going to find is if you will set your minds on
- 6:38Jesus Christ, set your mind on things above things that are
- 6:43good and wholesome and pure and lovely and holy, things that are
- 6:49edifying and build us up. And we will not set our minds on
- 6:53the earthly things that are so easily polluted and they're so
- 7:00easily disgusting because they come in and they tarnish our
- 7:09witness. They tarnish all the things.
- 7:12And they get us to get off of the scent of Jesus Christ and
- 7:16they get us on the scent of selfish vanity and selfish
- 7:21pride. And that is why it is so
- 7:24pertinent and so important that we will set our minds on glory,
- 7:29set our minds on the holiness, set our minds on Christ Jesus
- 7:34and all of His words and all of the Beatitudes and all of the
- 7:38things that He told us. Then we will be able to overcome
- 7:43all of the tricks and the deception, all of the snares,
- 7:47all of the traps and the pitfalls of this life.
- 7:52We will not Pierce ourselves with many sorrows if we'll keep
- 7:56our mind fixated and steady upon Jesus Christ.
- 8:01And He tells us how He says do not be conform to this world but
- 8:06be transformed by the renewing of your minds.
- 8:10Friends, that is the most important thing that you need to
- 8:13know is that as you are going through life, don't be kicked
- 8:16down in the drudgery of life of bills and mortgages and four O 1
- 8:22KS in retirement. Don't get kicked down into
- 8:26degrees and plaques on the wall and accolades friends Don't get
- 8:31kicked down into multiple houses in multiple vehicles, in
- 8:36multiple educations and multiple things that this world tries to
- 8:41tell us is the most important thing.
- 8:44Our financial security is not the most important thing.
- 8:48It is our eternal destination, friends and being prepared to
- 8:51die. 10 out of 10 people die, friends, and that is not being
- 8:56morbid friends. That is the reality.
- 8:59But we are lied to and we don't think that we're ever going to
- 9:03die because God has placed eternity into our hearts and
- 9:06minds and we want to live forever, but we need to prepare
- 9:09ourselves for death. We need to prepare ourselves to
- 9:13crossover from this life to the next.
- 9:15We do not need to just be looking down and around.
- 9:20We need to spend our days looking up and waiting patiently
- 9:24and waiting expectantly upon the blessed return of our King and
- 9:29our Lord and our Savior, Yeshua the Hamasiyah, verse 3.
- 9:35For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
- 9:46Do you understand this principle, friends?
- 9:49Can you get it through your mind?
- 9:51So many people are kicking the can down the road.
- 9:54So many people are making it all about the things that it should
- 9:57not be. They're making it about their
- 9:59security down here. They're making it about what
- 10:03this world is selling them. And here Paul wants the
- 10:07Colossians to know, and he emphatically tells them that
- 10:11they all, they are already dead and they are hidden with Christ
- 10:18in God. Friends, I pray that that is
- 10:21your story. I pray that you are already dead
- 10:28and that you are already there and that you are seated with Him
- 10:32in heavenly places. And that is what Paul was
- 10:35talking about when he said to live is Christ and to die is
- 10:40gain. And we need to stay fluid and
- 10:45relevant. Friends, it is not that we are
- 10:47called into being a monk or being a recluse.
- 10:55We are to go out and we are to help people and we are to tell
- 10:59people all about what Jesus Christ did for us.
- 11:02But we need to already count the cost.
- 11:05And this is what it means to take up your cross and to follow
- 11:08Him. You've already counted the cost
- 11:11and found that to die is gain, and anyone who tries to save
- 11:17their life will lose it. But if you lose your life for
- 11:21his sake, you will gain eternal life.
- 11:24And what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and to lose
- 11:28his soul? Make sure that you're already
- 11:32counted as Ted friends and then when someone demands your very
- 11:37life from you, it is easy because you've already
- 11:40surrendered it. First four, when Christ, who is
- 11:44our life shall appear, then shall you also appear with Him
- 11:50in glory. So that is what you need to
- 11:53understand after the rapture of the church in the seven years
- 11:56and having to sustain at the Bema seat, when we receive our
- 12:00rewards, when the whole world has gone to hell in a
- 12:03handbasket, friends, we will come back with Him in glory.
- 12:07We will have already received our immortal bodies, and we're
- 12:10coming back to rule and reign with Him for 1000 years,
- 12:14friends. And there will be deity there,
- 12:18as Christ sits on his throne. And there will be immortality
- 12:21there, because we are there ruling and reigning with them.
- 12:25And there will also be mortals there, friends, those that are
- 12:28still on this earth, that if they live to be 900 years old,
- 12:33friends, it will be considered a full life.
- 12:37And so that is what you need to understand these principles that
- 12:40the Bible teaches us, that we hold as near and dear and true.
- 12:44And that is what Paul is referencing here is if we'll go
- 12:47ahead and die to him now, quit holding on to our life now.
- 12:52And if we'll go ahead and surrender everything to Him now,
- 12:55not just surrender some, but surrender all, then whenever we
- 12:59are raptured to be with Him in the clouds, we'll come back with
- 13:02Him in glory. Praise God. 5 Mortify, therefore
- 13:08your members which are upon the earth, fornication and
- 13:12uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil, concupucence
- 13:19and covetousness, which is idolatry.
- 13:23So this is what Christian living looks like.
- 13:26Friends, you need to make sure to go ahead and get rid of all
- 13:31and to kill all of the desires that are rising up inside of
- 13:38you. Go ahead and get rid of them.
- 13:41They have no place in a Christian.
- 13:43They have no place in a St. He's telling us that they are
- 13:49dead to us and we are dead to them, that fornication has no
- 13:53place in our life. We can't get drug away by all
- 13:57the lusting friends. We do not have uncleanness
- 14:01friends. We cannot behave like animals.
- 14:05We cannot behave like little children.
- 14:08We need to behave like the Christians that we are called to
- 14:12because of who we are attached to.
- 14:15This inordinate affection. Friends, this is whenever
- 14:19affection is out of line and it's towards the wrong gender,
- 14:26it is towards the wrong things in our life.
- 14:30We need to know that God has called the family unit to be
- 14:33strong and we are not to be drug off with all of these perverse
- 14:39lustings and we are not to be drug off into the perversity
- 14:45that this world is trying to sell us.
- 14:47This over sexualized culture friends that is this is not
- 14:52becoming of the Saint. We need to know that evil and
- 14:58covetousness and idolatry is not part of our inheritance.
- 15:04Anyone who finds their identity in these sinful, the notions
- 15:11have no place in eternity with a loving and holy God. 6 For which
- 15:20thing's sake? The wrath of God comes on the
- 15:23children of disobedience. We need to make sure that we are
- 15:26not counted as the children of disobedience.
- 15:29And it's very, very simple to do.
- 15:32You hear God Almighty calling you to Himself.
- 15:36You respond through faith, friends.
- 15:41You respond in grace, friends, that God gives you, and you
- 15:45clothe yourself in the righteousness of Jesus Christ by
- 15:48accepting the atoning work that the cross and the cavalry, the
- 15:54shed blood of Jesus worked out for us.
- 15:57And you are made whole and you are holy in God's sight.
- 16:02And you're not counted as evil, you're not counted as covetous,
- 16:07you're not counted as an idolater.
- 16:10You're not not counted as a fornicator.
- 16:12You're not unclean in the sight of God.
- 16:15You are holy and blameless and pure because of what Jesus
- 16:19Christ did. And that is what you need to
- 16:21understand that you do not need to be counted as one of the
- 16:25children of disobedience because the wrath of God is coming upon
- 16:30the earth. 7 in the which you also walked sometime when you
- 16:34lived in them. So he's saying, come out of that
- 16:38sinful lifestyle, you were once once dead, you were once lost
- 16:44and now you are found and now you are whole.
- 16:47And he tells us to remain in that and to walk in that and not
- 16:52to be deceived and tricked and not to be drug away with every
- 16:55evil desire and every wave that comes and tosses us to and fro
- 17:01and gets our eyes off of Christ and gets our eyes off of
- 17:05eternity. Gets our eyes off of a loving
- 17:07and holy God and an awesome God that he is. 8 But now you also
- 17:13put off all these anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy
- 17:24communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie, not one to another,
- 17:31seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds.
- 17:34That is what you need to understand.
- 17:36Anyone who finds their identity in lying, anybody who finds
- 17:42their identity in this anger and wrath and malice, anyone who
- 17:47finds their identity and blaspheming and filthy talk.
- 17:53We need to know that when we came to the Lord Jesus Christ,
- 17:58we are a new creation and the old things have passed away and
- 18:02behold, the new has come. It is not becoming of a St. to
- 18:05have these calling cards. These are the calling cards of
- 18:09those who are lost. These are the calling cards of
- 18:13those who are not forgiven. These are the calling cards of
- 18:16those who find their identity in this world and all of their
- 18:21lusting and all of the disgustingness and the pollution
- 18:25that is in this world. We need to understand that
- 18:28whenever we came to Jesus Christ, He put on His Holiness
- 18:32and His righteousness and His purity and His innocence, and
- 18:36now we can walk according to that fact that none of the sins
- 18:40that we have ever committed are going to be counted against us.
- 18:44And if you have that knowledge and if you understand that
- 18:47truth, then you will not want to lie in blasphemy and to steal
- 18:53and to curse. You will not be those that are
- 18:55found doing all of the justing things that are outlined here.
- 19:00And you need to understand the old man is gone.
- 19:03And that is what Christ was telling Nicodemus in John 3
- 19:06whenever he told him that you must be born again if you want
- 19:10to enter into the Kingdom of God.
- 19:12And that is what happens when the old man is gone and the new
- 19:16man has come. And you need to understand that
- 19:19the flesh is still being warred with, but the old man is
- 19:24completely dead. 10 and half put on the new man, which is renewed
- 19:36in knowledge after the image of him that created him.
- 19:40We are to look like Christ more and more every single day.
- 19:45We are not to go backwards. We are not to go back into our
- 19:49sin. And you show me somebody who is
- 19:52sinning all the more so that grace will abound, and I will
- 19:55show you somebody who does not truly know the Lord Jesus
- 19:59Christ, if you truly know. Jesus Christ, you will
- 20:04understand that none of the sins that you have committed or are
- 20:08committing or will commit will ever be counted against you.
- 20:11And that will actually make you want to behave and make you want
- 20:17to work and make you want to do the things that he's asking you
- 20:21to do. And that is what grace looks
- 20:24like is that we're not going to have to answer for all the sins
- 20:29that we have done post putting our faith in the the Lord Jesus
- 20:33Christ. And when you have that
- 20:34knowledge, friends, then you can start your journey of
- 20:40sanctification and knowing that Jesus Christ is going to cover
- 20:45every single one of them. But it does not give us a
- 20:48license to sin. 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew,
- 20:55circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, citian, bond nor
- 21:01free. But Christ is all and in all.
- 21:04He breaks down all the barriers. And we all have to come to the
- 21:09Lord the same way. We all have to have a personal
- 21:14relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ.
- 21:18That is the great line in the sand, the great divider.
- 21:24We're not going to get there by our acts.
- 21:26We're not going to get there by our works.
- 21:28We're not going to get there by our behavior.
- 21:30We're not going to get there by our the faith of our family.
- 21:33We're not going to get there by any of the outward measures.
- 21:38It is only by the working of what Jesus Christ did on the
- 21:43cross for us 2000 years ago. A perfect life that completely
- 21:50disarms all the principalities and the powers and death has no
- 21:55hold on us, friends. Sin has no claim on us, friends,
- 21:58because of what Jesus Christ did for us, and we are made into the
- 22:04image of Him, and he breaks down all the barriers. 12 Put on,
- 22:09therefore, as the elect of God, holy beloved, bowels of mercy,
- 22:16kindness and humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering, 13 for
- 22:21bearing one another, forgiving one another.
- 22:24If any man has a quarrel against any, even as Christ forgave you,
- 22:30so also do you. So what does He telling us is
- 22:34Put off all of the malice and deceit and the lying.
- 22:38Put off the old man and be clothed with the new man,
- 22:41Friends, be regenerated, and you'll know that you are the
- 22:46elect whenever you have His Holiness and you are beloved,
- 22:51and you can have His mercy and God's kindness exuding from you.
- 22:56God's humbleness of mind towards us and in us and working through
- 23:01us. His meekness, friends.
- 23:04And meekness is not weakness. Meekness is power constrained,
- 23:08power controlled. He has all the power in all the
- 23:11universe. He created everything seen and
- 23:14scene and He comes as a little baby.
- 23:17Friends, this meekness, He is the shepherd king, He is the
- 23:24servant leader and that is what you need to understand.
- 23:27We are called into. Even though we have all the
- 23:32answers to every question that could ever be asked, we still
- 23:37operate in this meekness and humility.
- 23:40It is not just enough to go around and proving everyone
- 23:45wrong. We need to make a difference in
- 23:47this world and we need to try our best to rescue those that
- 23:53are dying and those that are lost and those who have no
- 23:57shepherd. And we are thankful for the Good
- 24:00Shepherd. We are forbearing with one
- 24:02another and we forgive each other.
- 24:04How can you receive God's forgiveness if you refuse to
- 24:08forgive others? You can't be forgiven if you
- 24:12will not forgive others. And if we have a quarrel with
- 24:15anyone, just remember that Christ is the mediator and that
- 24:22what Christ did for us covers all of the multitude of sins.
- 24:27Friends 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is
- 24:32the bond of perfectness. He's telling us to love.
- 24:36Love covers that multitude of sins.
- 24:38And it was Jesus's love for his creation that kept him on that
- 24:44cross. No one took his life from him,
- 24:46but he laid it down willingly. Friends, he breathed his last.
- 24:51He willingly, obediently went to the cross for you and for me.
- 24:59That is how we are made perfect, by being clothed in Jesus
- 25:04righteousness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts
- 25:09to the which also you are called in one body, and be you
- 25:14thankful. This is the praise and the
- 25:17Thanksgiving that we are to enter in to His gates with
- 25:21friends. You need to understand that it
- 25:24is the peace of God and only God can give you this peace.
- 25:28You cannot have peace with God without the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 25:35You cannot experience the peace of God without being made one
- 25:40with God through Jesus Christ perfect sacrifice on the cross.
- 25:46That is the peace of God and it will rule in your heart when you
- 25:49know that you are going to stand before Him one day and he is
- 25:54going to say, well done, good and faithful servants, whenever
- 25:58He says, come into the rest that I have prepared for you.
- 26:02Whenever he tells you that you gave him the cup of water and
- 26:12that you came and visited him in prison and you clothed him,
- 26:20friends, that is what you need to understand.
- 26:22This peace of God comes from knowing that we know that we
- 26:26know that we know that we know that we know that we are in
- 26:30right standing with God because of what Jesus Christ did for us.
- 26:34And it's nothing that we have done, and it is everything that
- 26:37He did, and none of our workings and none of our behavior is
- 26:42going to make us any more acceptable to God Almighty.
- 26:46And it's not going to cause Him to love you anymore and it's not
- 26:50going to cause Him to reject you anymore.
- 26:54Because Jesus Christ paid it all.
- 26:57It's paid in full, It's finished, and it is wonderful,
- 27:02and it brings about the peace that we desperately need. 16 Let
- 27:09the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching
- 27:15and admonishing one another, in psalms and hymns, spiritual
- 27:19songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
- 27:22That is what happens whenever we finally see that our position in
- 27:29Christ Jesus gets us there. That is what happens when we
- 27:34finally see that it is nothing that we have done or do.
- 27:38That is what happens when we finally see that Jesus Christ
- 27:42sacrifice is enough. It will cause us to leap with
- 27:48joy. It will cause us to sing and
- 27:52dance. It will cause us to be very
- 27:56jubilant. It will cause us to be extremely
- 28:00happy and glad and joyful when we know that we know that we
- 28:05know that we know that we know that we know where we're going
- 28:08to spend eternity. And we don't have to guess and
- 28:12we don't have to wonder. We can have the full assurance
- 28:17that what Jesus did is enough, and that will cause us to want
- 28:25to sing and to want to serve and to want to do and to want to
- 28:30volunteer and to want to work out our salvation with the fear
- 28:36and the trembling. Friends, it is the peace of God.
- 28:40It is the words of Christ washing over us.
- 28:44It is the Psalms and the hymns. Friends, grace in our hearts. 17
- 28:50And whatsoever you do in Word or deed, do all in the name of the
- 28:55Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
- 29:01That is how we get to God Almighty is through Jesus Christ
- 29:06and let His words point you towards the Father.
- 29:10If you have seen the Son, then you have seen the Father.
- 29:13Friends because they are synonymous, they are monogamous,
- 29:19they are one friends and the Holy Spirit that lives inside of
- 29:23us bears witness. Friends and we are all
- 29:27connected, three and one, God the Father, God the Son, and God
- 29:32the Holy Ghost. This Trinity, friends and the
- 29:35part of that triune nature came to live inside of you, and deep
- 29:40calls to deep. And you can know the mind of
- 29:43Christ because the Holy Spirit living inside of you.
- 29:46And you will know how to please the Father, and how to walk in
- 29:50the Spirit, friends, if you will yield yourself unto Him, and
- 29:54have that relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ.
- 29:59He told us that no one will come unto the Father except through
- 30:02Him. 18 wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is
- 30:09fit in the Lord. This is not just blank
- 30:12submission, friends. There is great wisdom in this
- 30:20little section. And whenever we see the family
- 30:23unit operating as God has designed it, it is powerful and
- 30:28effective and it is beautiful, and it is a ministry unto a lost
- 30:33and dying and perverse world. And what Paul wants these
- 30:38Colossian wives to understand is that their submission is part of
- 30:46their Christian calling. And to the degree that the
- 30:52husband is following after the Lord Jesus Christ, to the degree
- 30:58and to the measure that the husband will yield himself and
- 31:03completely surrender himself and submit himself unto God, is the
- 31:11exact degree and measure that the wife will submit to him.
- 31:17And that is what you need to understand.
- 31:20This is not just a blanket submission carte blanche that
- 31:27God expects for wives to do. This is very important for the
- 31:35husband, that the husband will submit to God, listen to God,
- 31:41he'll wait on the Lord, he'll not overstep and outpace God's
- 31:45plans. And if he will sit and wait on
- 31:49the Lord, then the woman will have no problem submitting unto
- 31:53him because she will know that he is in tune with God.
- 31:57And if she goes against her own husband, she'll be going up
- 32:01against God Almighty. And that is the way that God has
- 32:06modeled the family unit, and it is beautiful when it is working
- 32:11and operating in its full capacity. 19 Husbands, love your
- 32:22wives and be not bitter against them.
- 32:25Perhaps the wives not submitting to their husbands has caused the
- 32:29husband to be bitter. And you can see how the devil
- 32:33tries to jam communication between the husband and the wife
- 32:39by getting in there, weaseling his way in there and causing
- 32:43this bitterness. And this is a catch 22.
- 32:46This is where one offense leads to another offense.
- 32:50And all of a sudden you're in the washing machine of going
- 32:54round and round with bouts of anger and bouts of resentment
- 33:03and bouts of sharp tongued responses that drive a wedge
- 33:11between a husband and a wife. And you can see it here,
- 33:14friends. And he, he is telling the
- 33:16husbands listen, do not let bitterness start to grow root
- 33:22between you and your wife. That is not from God, that is
- 33:25from the enemy. And if the husband will get his
- 33:30eyes off of, of his wife and her feelings and emotions and quit
- 33:36going to her and processing the things that he's supposed to be
- 33:40processing with God and waiting on God and listening to God
- 33:45about and getting his worth and getting his direction and
- 33:49getting all of the plans from God, then the wife will submit
- 33:56and she will listen. It is whenever she can't trust
- 34:00her husband. It is whenever he decides to be
- 34:02a fornicator. It's whenever he decides to be a
- 34:06womanizer. It is whenever he decides to be
- 34:09violent, whenever he decides to make it all about this world and
- 34:15greed and money. Whenever he decides to be a liar
- 34:20and a thief is whenever she will not submit to him.
- 34:24And the Bible tells us in Genesis that she will desire her
- 34:27husband, but he will rule over her.
- 34:30And you can see how this contention and this bitterness
- 34:34gets stirred up from the enemy. And it is so prevalent in our
- 34:38society and it causes so many marriages to fail.
- 34:41And that was the intent of the enemy from the beginning, is to
- 34:46get in there and to cause bitterness and to cause the man
- 34:50to take his eyes off of God and to cause the woman to not submit
- 34:54because she can't trust her husband.
- 34:56And it's all prevalent and you see it working every day.
- 35:01But we are called to be different, and we are called to
- 35:03be chain Breakers, and we are called to forgive, and we are
- 35:06called to be in one frame of mind, 1 Spirit and one God, and
- 35:14it is Christ Jesus. 20 Children, obey your parents in all things,
- 35:22for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
- 35:25This is a call for parents to teach their children obedience.
- 35:34We cannot just let technology raise our children.
- 35:39We cannot farm out our responsibilities to others who
- 35:45care nothing for our children. No one is going to love your
- 35:50children as much as you do. No one is going to pray for your
- 35:54children as much as you do. And it is high time for husbands
- 35:59and wives to get their attention off of the world and off of self
- 36:07and off of money and pleasure, and to actually engage and rear
- 36:15and raise and to see their children as the greatest
- 36:19ministry that God has ever given them.
- 36:23That is the call for this day and for this hour.
- 36:26We need to raise up warriors for Christ.
- 36:29Friends, teach them obedience when they are young. 21 Fathers,
- 36:38do not provoke your children to anger unless they become
- 36:41discouraged. You see it every single day all
- 36:45around us. You see that these children are
- 36:48emotionally unstable, and it is because they have not been
- 36:53taught, they have not been encouraged, they have not had
- 36:57all of the most important times of their life affirmed and
- 37:02reaffirmed by their father and by their parents.
- 37:06And what has happened is you are seeing so many parents and so
- 37:10many fathers check out and so many parents and so many fathers
- 37:14try to provoke their children to anger because they have the
- 37:19power over them now. But when the kids get older and
- 37:22when they get much bigger, there's such resentment there
- 37:26and you see the breakdown of the pillars of society, friends, and
- 37:30it's all happening within the four walls.
- 37:33And it's because we have taken our eyes off of God Almighty.
- 37:37We have taken our eyes off of the most important entity in all
- 37:41the universe. And we need to know that God is
- 37:44the one who fathers us. And if we are good husbands and
- 37:47good fathers and good employees and good citizens, it is because
- 37:51we have chosen to be that way because of what God has done for
- 37:55us and what he has taught us. 22 Servants, obey in all things
- 38:01your masters according to the flesh, not with eye service as
- 38:06men, pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing God.
- 38:11This is for all the employees who just do their job whenever
- 38:17their superior is around. And he is telling us for the day
- 38:22and for the for now and for the application for our hour.
- 38:26He's saying, listen, don't just work whenever your boss is in
- 38:31the room, Make sure you're working unto God.
- 38:35Do everything unto the Lord. 23 And whatsoever you do, do it
- 38:40heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men.
- 38:44It could not be more plain, friends, we do not work for a
- 38:48man, we work for God. Everything that we do, we do for
- 38:52Him. 24 knowing that of the Lord, you shall receive the
- 38:57reward of the inheritance, for you serve the Lord Christ.
- 39:03It could not be more plain, friends, we work for God, we
- 39:08serve God, we obey God. And everything that we do,
- 39:15whenever we submit ourselves to the authority of a boss, it is
- 39:21because we have the right understanding of who our true
- 39:27boss is. And what did Jesus tell Pilate
- 39:32when he says, do you not know who I am?
- 39:34Jesus says you have no power over me but that which has been
- 39:39given to you by God Almighty. And that is what you need to
- 39:42understand, is that we obey God over obeying man.
- 39:49We'll end on 25. But he that does wrong shall
- 39:53receive for the wrong which he has done, and there is no
- 39:58respective persons do not suffer for doing the wrong thing.
- 40:02There's no reward in that. Friends, do not think that
- 40:08you're being persecuted whenever you have done wrong and you get
- 40:12caught and it's all coming to light.
- 40:14Don't call that persecution if you.
- 40:19Have to suffer for doing the right thing.
- 40:21That's a whole nother matter. It's a whole nother kettle of
- 40:26fish, friends. So do not do wrong and then turn
- 40:33around and try to act like you have done some pious thing.
- 40:39Does not work that way. I hope that you've been blessed
- 40:42by this chapter. I know I sure have.
- 40:45I'm praying for you. Love you.
- 41:02We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 41:03God bless you.
