- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:30coop. So today we are talking about
- 0:33recovery week. Our next topic is being able to
- 0:38actually rest. Now that might sound funny after
- 0:41the fact that I know yesterday we talked about activity, but I
- 0:44want to make sure I put in there that it is OK to rest.
- 0:48It is OK to take time when you are in recovery.
- 0:51It is OK to actually rest and making it a part of our accepted
- 0:58activities, so to speak. Resting is something that you
- 1:01should do. It's something I do.
- 1:04Do I sit Stillwell? No.
- 1:05But do I? If I said to myself, OK, for the
- 1:08next 15 minutes, I'm just going to sit.
- 1:10I'm going to close my eyes. I'm actually going to listen to
- 1:13a guided meditation. I'm going to put myself in a
- 1:16state for the 15 minutes that this thing is going on.
- 1:20And then I'm going to get up and feel much better.
- 1:22Oh my gosh. If you've never tried doing
- 1:24something like a guided meditation, I highly, highly
- 1:28recommend it. For those of us who have
- 1:30overactive imaginations, this is one of the best tools that I
- 1:34have to control my rampant thoughts and allowing somebody
- 1:39else to give me the path. And tell me, OK, think about
- 1:45this, think about this. Because, you know, if I tell you
- 1:48think about the color blue, it's not like you're not going to
- 1:50think about the color blue. Or if I say imagine something,
- 1:53you're going to imagine it in the way that you imagine things.
- 1:56It might not be the same way other people do it, because we
- 1:59all have our own specific way in our brains that we do it and.
- 2:04It it, it's totally okay. The point of the exercise is to
- 2:08allow yourself to actually take a rest and to be okay with the
- 2:12resting process. Does that mean sitting on your
- 2:16butt? And not moving and being lazy
- 2:20all the way until the next group of holidays show up.
- 2:22No, that is not what we're talking about.
- 2:24But we are talking about during the day, taking the time to
- 2:28allow your body to recover and rest from whatever is happening
- 2:32out there. And the stress activities that
- 2:35we all encounter during our normal work days require us to
- 2:39be able to decompress them. So if you've never looked into.
- 2:44Getting some sort of guided meditation.
- 2:46Highly recommended. Hay House has a whole bunch of
- 2:49different ones. If you go to Google and you
- 2:51hayhouse.com you will find a lot of different guided meditations
- 2:56available there. You can get them also on audible
- 2:59and you can. I highly recommend you listen to
- 3:02the voice of the person first, because there's nothing more
- 3:05disappointing than getting a guided meditation and
- 3:08recognizing you can't stand the voice of the person who's doing
- 3:11it. I've had that happen and it's
- 3:13not fun. So I think it's important to
- 3:16make sure you listen to the voice person.
- 3:18They usually have samples to make sure people like them.
- 3:21But get something. Put yourself into that little
- 3:24vault that says, OK, I am allowing myself to do this.
- 3:28Now how often do you do it during the day?
- 3:30Well, it depends on how you are as a person, but I will tell you
- 3:34throughout my day I love to take these little breaks and the
- 3:37longer ones. I take less frequently just
- 3:41because of my schedule and whatnot, but I take many of the
- 3:44five minute ones and taking just 5 minutes and collecting
- 3:47yourselves for me, this is one of the things that I do.
- 3:51I come to the chicken coop and I sit out here with them because
- 3:54just watching them scratch around, watching them look for
- 3:57things going out in the yard with them and seeing them.
- 4:00It's just it's very chill. It just makes you calm down.
- 4:04It makes you be in the moment watching them digging for
- 4:07something or looking at something or tasting something
- 4:09for the first time. I just, I don't know if for me
- 4:12it works. So it's one of the things that I
- 4:14do. I also go out and you know, take
- 4:17pictures constantly of things. I have grown on the farm as
- 4:21mindful moments and those are things where it's like those are
- 4:24mental rest for me. And if you allow yourself to
- 4:27have the mental rest, you will feel so much more empowered in
- 4:32general because you're not just constantly taxing your system in
- 4:36one way, but you're allowing yourself to feel good.
- 4:39And you're allowing yourself to recover.
- 4:41So go practice, Take resting moments, Feel good, focus on
- 4:47that, and then get right back to being on track with everything
- 4:50else. OK my friends, I will talk to
- 4:53you tomorrow. Have a blessed day.
- 4:54Bye.
