- 0:32Speaker 1: It's just very special to everybody. Probably my favorite episode.
- 0:34Speaker 1: We haven't even done it yet. Like, dude, it's all
- 0:36Speaker 1: Cowboys and Jerry Jones. Let's go and I want to
- 0:39Speaker 1: get to the interview quickly and then we'll talk on
- 0:42Speaker 1: the back side thoughts, feelings, emotions, happening, that kind of thing.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I do want to say first of all, to thank
- 0:48Speaker 1: you to everybody listens to this. You have made this
- 0:49Speaker 1: podcast a monster millions and millions. We we thought it
- 0:54Speaker 1: would do good, like pretty good. We didn't expect it
- 0:57Speaker 1: to be as big as it is, So thank you
- 0:59Speaker 1: all for being a part of this. Because of you guys,
- 1:03Speaker 1: we get to do stuff like go hang out with
- 1:05Speaker 1: Jerry Jones. So I don't know, I don't want to
- 1:07Speaker 1: say except thank you. Just every time we look at
- 1:09Speaker 1: the data, it's just like another million, another million, So
- 1:13Speaker 1: thank you, especially because I only played pro ball for
- 1:15Speaker 1: like five years. That's it. Five years. Here is Dallas
- 1:21Speaker 1: Cowboys owner and general manager, and it's one of my
- 1:25Speaker 1: favorite people. I set it up a little bit. We
- 1:29Speaker 1: are sitting in the room they do the press conferences,
- 1:32Speaker 1: the postgame press conmerence. We just grabbed chairs and throw
- 1:35Speaker 1: mikes in our hands. It was not something that was
- 1:39Speaker 1: it was organized as to what we were gonna do.
- 1:41Speaker 1: But Jerry Jones is like the coolest dude. He was like,
- 1:44Speaker 1: let's just do it here. We're like, all right, let's
- 1:46Speaker 1: just do it here. And so we got some microphones
- 1:48Speaker 1: that Mike get brought in. Away we went and we
- 1:50Speaker 1: talked about all kinds of stuff. Now I haven't heard
- 1:53Speaker 1: the audio, but I wonder if you could hear the
- 1:57Speaker 1: music in the background, because this is cool. Just two
- 1:59Speaker 1: are right behind where you were sitting. Bones was the
- 2:02Speaker 1: locker room, and you can hear the music just blaring
- 2:05Speaker 1: in the locker room and dudes yelling. You can't hear
- 2:07Speaker 1: the music, but you do hear when they yell. You
- 2:09Speaker 1: hear like an eruption of the players. It's pretty cool.
- 2:13Speaker 1: That was cool, dude. Here I am talking with Jerry Jones.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I wish you was my dad. I do enjoy Mr Jones.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Have heard people call you many things since we've been
- 2:24Speaker 1: here the last hour. I've heard Mr Jones. I've they
- 2:28Speaker 1: referred to you as Jerry. Someone called you uncle Jerry
- 2:30Speaker 1: a minute ago. You have a lot of names here
- 2:32Speaker 1: as you walk around. Well, I do prefer especially from
- 2:35Speaker 1: you Jerry. Is that really why I feel like I
- 2:39Speaker 1: can call you Jerry because that means we're friends. Now,
- 2:41Speaker 1: of course we are friends and uh, but mainly you've
- 2:45Speaker 1: got that Arkansas blood, didn't you, which qualifies us uh,
- 2:49Speaker 1: both to have a little fun cousins and uh, why
- 2:53Speaker 1: not can be? Um, I've got a lot of Jones
- 2:56Speaker 1: running around out here. I just get in line this
- 3:00Speaker 1: story that I've rarely shared. But and there's zero percent
- 3:03Speaker 1: chance that you would remember this, and I don't expect
- 3:04Speaker 1: you to. But as probably fifteen or so years ago,
- 3:07Speaker 1: you were in Hot Springs. You were sitting in a
- 3:10Speaker 1: section of a restaurant and I think it was Oakland
- 3:12Speaker 1: Oakland was I was at the races. Um you were
- 3:15Speaker 1: sitting in a section between the restaurant the bar, waiting
- 3:17Speaker 1: on somebody, and I saw you sitting there and I thought,
- 3:20Speaker 1: Jerry Jones from Markets, from Markets All, why can I
- 3:22Speaker 1: not go up and say hello? And so I approached
- 3:24Speaker 1: you and I said hello, and I sat beside. I
- 3:25Speaker 1: was waiting on people too, and you and I talked
- 3:27Speaker 1: for like ten to fifteen minutes, and I kind of
- 3:29Speaker 1: just told you my story. You talked to me for
- 3:31Speaker 1: a while, and I remember thinking, I can't believe Jerry
- 3:33Speaker 1: Jones is a normal, like nice person, because we always
- 3:36Speaker 1: see big Jerry Jones, you know, the guy that's running
- 3:39Speaker 1: of the Cowboys. But you were such a normal person.
- 3:41Speaker 1: And at the end of the conversation you literally gave
- 3:43Speaker 1: me your cell phone number and said, if you ever
- 3:44Speaker 1: need anything, call me. I never called you. I actually
- 3:46Speaker 1: needed a few things, but I never called you. But
- 3:49Speaker 1: I left that going like Jerry Jones is like a
- 3:52Speaker 1: like a for real caring guy, like a guy who
- 3:55Speaker 1: seemingly cares about relationships a lot. Is that probably? Would
- 3:59Speaker 1: you say that as the key to your success here
- 4:01Speaker 1: has been relationships? Well, let me say this, uh my
- 4:04Speaker 1: life has spent with my uh one on one relationships.
- 4:10Speaker 1: What is a little confusing about this thing is that
- 4:13Speaker 1: the more visibility have uh and frankly being associated with
- 4:17Speaker 1: the Cowboys. I don't ever confuse the interest in Jerry
- 4:22Speaker 1: Jones with what the real deal is, and that's the
- 4:25Speaker 1: interest in the Dallas Cowboys. I'll say this seriously. Yes,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I did have a marvelous young life growing up in Arkansas,
- 4:36Speaker 1: and I was coached up real good in life, not
- 4:39Speaker 1: necessarily football but life. Great parents, uh, entrepreneurs, always struggling,
- 4:46Speaker 1: but wonderful around the kitchen table osmosis. But I certainly
- 4:52Speaker 1: got a great appreciation for the kinds of lives that
- 4:57Speaker 1: make up Arkansas. For sure, there's no question that my
- 5:01Speaker 1: affinity is there, continue to have things there and continue
- 5:05Speaker 1: to have all the relationships I've had. But having said that,
- 5:08Speaker 1: when I got involved with the Cowboys, um, I knew
- 5:12Speaker 1: it was going to be tough because the Cowboys were
- 5:15Speaker 1: losing a million a month in cash flow, and I
- 5:18Speaker 1: bought part of them from the government that had been
- 5:20Speaker 1: foreclosed on and football was not going strong. They're not
- 5:24Speaker 1: pro football at the time. As a matter of fact,
- 5:27Speaker 1: I don't and never have heard of anybody that ever
- 5:30Speaker 1: made a positive dollar in sports, owning a team period
- 5:34Speaker 1: football or otherwise where I'm going with this, But I
- 5:37Speaker 1: was proud. I was really proud to my master's thesis
- 5:41Speaker 1: as at Arkansas when I got to play on our
- 5:44Speaker 1: national championship team. But I was also going to school.
- 5:47Speaker 1: My master's thesis rose the role of marketing in modern
- 5:50Speaker 1: day football. I dreamed of somehow being a part of
- 5:53Speaker 1: a life that was had something to do with football.
- 5:57Speaker 1: But this is my point to everyone, go to your passion,
- 6:03Speaker 1: because I just thought that I had accomplished a little
- 6:08Speaker 1: something that I could be proud of when I bought
- 6:10Speaker 1: the Cowboys. What I didn't realize was that every day,
- 6:14Speaker 1: inspired by getting to be a part of the future,
- 6:17Speaker 1: getting to be a part of the fans, getting to
- 6:19Speaker 1: be a part of the game, it just caused me
- 6:21Speaker 1: to try things I would have never done and caused
- 6:24Speaker 1: things to happen that would have never happened. And so
- 6:27Speaker 1: the facts are, I really was just getting started. The
- 6:30Speaker 1: Cowboys inspired me way beyond just the touchdowns or any
- 6:36Speaker 1: financial game. I wrote a book called fail until you Don't,
- 6:39Speaker 1: which is and I had Governor Hudson in Arkansas and
- 6:42Speaker 1: Chris Stapleton a lot of guys that we know as
- 6:44Speaker 1: super successful um artists or in business talk about their
- 6:49Speaker 1: biggest failure, but how that actually led them to their
- 6:51Speaker 1: biggest successes. And we see you as just an eternal
- 6:54Speaker 1: success story because we see you on TV or we
- 6:57Speaker 1: hear you. Was there a certain failure early on that
- 7:01Speaker 1: actually taught you so much that allowed all of this
- 7:03Speaker 1: success later on? Well, when we were first married, my
- 7:07Speaker 1: wife Keen and I, uh, they came to the house
- 7:10Speaker 1: when she stepped out one day and took her purse
- 7:13Speaker 1: and grabbed all the credit cards out and cut them into.
- 7:17Speaker 1: About fifteen years before I bought the Cowboys, I came
- 7:20Speaker 1: to Dallas, and after I bought the Cowboys, a writer
- 7:24Speaker 1: asked when we didn't win but one game our first year,
- 7:27Speaker 1: which was a little downer, but when we did and
- 7:30Speaker 1: he said, he's got to be some of the roughest
- 7:32Speaker 1: days of your life. And I said, no, not even
- 7:35Speaker 1: here in Dallas. About fifteen years ago, I landed at
- 7:38Speaker 1: love Field, took my card up to rent a car
- 7:42Speaker 1: from from my think Hurts, and they looked down a
- 7:45Speaker 1: list and cut my card into and said, young man,
- 7:48Speaker 1: you need to learn how to pay your bills now.
- 7:51Speaker 1: That's a hard day in Dallas, not necessarily a one
- 7:54Speaker 1: lost record with the Cowboys so much Salvation Army. I
- 7:59Speaker 1: feel like people know about it now because of what
- 8:01Speaker 1: you guys do as far as starting that campaign. Why
- 8:05Speaker 1: is that so important to you guys? Have the cattle
- 8:07Speaker 1: in Salvation Army is not only part of the Cowboys,
- 8:09Speaker 1: but just to be a part of that brand all
- 8:11Speaker 1: over the country. Again, by the the thing that's surprised,
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'm never surprised at the interest in the team. But
- 8:19Speaker 1: what I does surprise me is when I travel, and
- 8:22Speaker 1: I travel a lot, I love as many people come
- 8:25Speaker 1: up and say thanks for what you do for the
- 8:27Speaker 1: Salvation Army and the Red Cattalysts say go Cowboys. Uh.
- 8:30Speaker 1: It probably is the most uh meaningful or notable thing
- 8:37Speaker 1: for me about having been associated with pro sports. Are
- 8:41Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys. Uh. We have three million volunteers in
- 8:46Speaker 1: this country on Red Cattle time in the Christmas time. Uh,
- 8:50Speaker 1: while people are having meetings or board meetings about how
- 8:54Speaker 1: to help people, Uh, they've got Santa Claus under a tree,
- 8:57Speaker 1: They've got shoes on somebody, or they got food nurse stomach.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Before they can even have a board meeting and other organizations,
- 9:04Speaker 1: and they get it there with most of the dollar
- 9:07Speaker 1: that you put in that kettle going right where you
- 9:09Speaker 1: would love to see it go. That's why I'm such
- 9:12Speaker 1: a fantom. If we could play football as good as
- 9:14Speaker 1: the people that uh that Salvation Army do their job,
- 9:18Speaker 1: would be world champs every year. Do you get nervous
- 9:21Speaker 1: before games? Very still? And I'm nervous right now, very
- 9:24Speaker 1: nervous I always have, but really almost uh uh sick
- 9:29Speaker 1: nervous this many games into owning such a big franchise
- 9:34Speaker 1: and you're nervous. Why do you think the nerves are
- 9:36Speaker 1: in you still today? Well, you look at what might
- 9:40Speaker 1: be the possibility of coming out playing good. Uh, if
- 9:46Speaker 1: we can get through this thing, uh without serious injuries. Um,
- 9:51Speaker 1: all of the things I think like anything, really, but
- 9:56Speaker 1: you need to be positive to play football. I played
- 9:59Speaker 1: foot off of the Razorbacks and uh I had to
- 10:02Speaker 1: call on it. Boy, it hurt me to play football.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I love baseball. Uh So one time my trainer said, Jones,
- 10:11Speaker 1: he's had a Virginia brogue. And he said, Jones, you've
- 10:14Speaker 1: got to have the lowest tolerance for pain of any
- 10:16Speaker 1: kid we've ever had. With the Razorbacks, and I said,
- 10:19Speaker 1: damn it, Groundy, it hurts me more than it does
- 10:21Speaker 1: everybody else. I said, hell, eric toes are hanging off,
- 10:24Speaker 1: and I said, it hurts me to get kicked. I
- 10:26Speaker 1: deserve an honor. Figure up an honor for me. I'm
- 10:29Speaker 1: brave to be out there. It hurts more than they do.
- 10:32Speaker 1: You played running back in high school and then offensive
- 10:34Speaker 1: line for the six or fourth championship team, right? Is
- 10:36Speaker 1: that is my accurate there? It's done your homework, boy,
- 10:38Speaker 1: that I live. I'm die hard. You know I'm die
- 10:41Speaker 1: hard razorback, die hard Jerry Jones. So if what's that transition?
- 10:45Speaker 1: And did you not want to play running back in
- 10:48Speaker 1: college or did they say you should now play offensive line.
- 10:51Speaker 1: One of the toughest things I ever had to stomach
- 10:54Speaker 1: was my junior year. I was the starting fullback for
- 10:57Speaker 1: the Razorbacks. I was so proud. Uh replayed almost everything
- 11:02Speaker 1: that was going to happen for the year. We came
- 11:05Speaker 1: to school and I started the first three or four games.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I pulled a ham uh And we had some other fullbacks,
- 11:11Speaker 1: good ones, Bobby Nicks, Charles Daniels, people that we all
- 11:16Speaker 1: could remember back. But we lost all of our guards
- 11:20Speaker 1: and I had played guard uh my first year at
- 11:23Speaker 1: the Razorbacks, so they moved me to guard. I went
- 11:27Speaker 1: over to talk to Coach Brawls to tell him my
- 11:30Speaker 1: heart wouldn't need it. I couldn't move to guard. I
- 11:33Speaker 1: wanted to carry the ball. I wanted to catch passes,
- 11:37Speaker 1: and so he said, find Jerry. Well. Another coach came
- 11:40Speaker 1: back to my locker and he went around the room
- 11:43Speaker 1: and he named guys that had never been on the field.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Fred Marshall, who became the great quarterback that led us
- 11:49Speaker 1: to our national championship team, Kenny Dean, a great running back,
- 11:53Speaker 1: never been on the field. There were all kinds handfuls
- 11:56Speaker 1: had never been on the field. And my coach looked
- 11:58Speaker 1: at me and said, Jerry, I told old you. Mother
- 12:00Speaker 1: and daddy want to offers you the scholarship. I'd take
- 12:03Speaker 1: care of you. He says, Coach Brawls will set you
- 12:06Speaker 1: down and you may never see a field again. You
- 12:10Speaker 1: can make this move that he's asking you to do,
- 12:13Speaker 1: and you can have a hell of a career and
- 12:14Speaker 1: be a starter. Don't you see the handwriting on the wall? Well?
- 12:18Speaker 1: I did. I did like he did. I was mad
- 12:21Speaker 1: about having done it. Then I'm mad about it. At
- 12:24Speaker 1: eighty years old today, I'm still mad about it. I
- 12:26Speaker 1: should have been carrying ball and catching passes. What if
- 12:29Speaker 1: a player says that to you. What if they're like,
- 12:31Speaker 1: I don't you know, I don't want to move, I
- 12:32Speaker 1: don't want to return points. You know, I'm never what
- 12:35Speaker 1: what kind of conversation would you have with them? Well,
- 12:37Speaker 1: first of all, because really, as much as anything that
- 12:40Speaker 1: story I would have, I mean this, I would have grace.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I've had it said to me in different ways, not
- 12:46Speaker 1: necessarily the same situation about a position, but I've had
- 12:50Speaker 1: it to me with other men and women. And when
- 12:53Speaker 1: I see somebody buck, when I see him stop and
- 12:57Speaker 1: come in and it's hard, I know it's hard, and
- 12:59Speaker 1: tell me a look, I respect you. I'm not trying
- 13:03Speaker 1: to be awkward, but I want to go this way.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I respect that, and I remember that story and I
- 13:10Speaker 1: go there, Uh, I've had I'm a cat that's had
- 13:16Speaker 1: eight lives out of nine, and so I'm a life
- 13:20Speaker 1: of giver. I hope and do show grace when somebody
- 13:24Speaker 1: has some real mindset as to where they won't go
- 13:27Speaker 1: with their life. Got three questions Life Now this is
- 13:29Speaker 1: an urban legend that I've heard about you that when
- 13:32Speaker 1: you were and you can tell me if this is false,
- 13:34Speaker 1: but I want to get the whole story out. And
- 13:36Speaker 1: you've had such an instrumental part of designing this this facility,
- 13:39Speaker 1: which is still a plus. And I you know we
- 13:41Speaker 1: were talking earlier. After fourteen years, people still treated like
- 13:44Speaker 1: it's brand new, and they might be seen it yet.
- 13:45Speaker 1: But the story is that there was a tile that
- 13:47Speaker 1: you wanted and you flew to another country to say,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I'd like to have this tile. They said, we don't have.
- 13:52Speaker 1: It's on back order. So you said, you bought the
- 13:55Speaker 1: whole place, then you got the tile, then you sold
- 13:57Speaker 1: the place and made money off the selling of the business.
- 14:00Speaker 1: That story true, Well, let me say this. I don't
- 14:03Speaker 1: know that I made money when I when I sold
- 14:06Speaker 1: it back, but I was creative in getting the towel.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Now you had a little problem when you want a
- 14:13Speaker 1: foot a tie in a place like this. You're talking
- 14:16Speaker 1: about four million square feet five million square feet. So
- 14:20Speaker 1: if tile is three dollars in twenty cents, then multiply
- 14:25Speaker 1: that times three or four million. Well, in this particular case,
- 14:28Speaker 1: I was trying to get my wife Jean to find
- 14:32Speaker 1: the perfect tie for the right price, which was a
- 14:35Speaker 1: lot less, but she found it. And one of the
- 14:39Speaker 1: other things she did is she uh uh took and
- 14:43Speaker 1: took granted and uh they chopped the granted up and
- 14:47Speaker 1: then the aggregated it back as a solid and it's
- 14:50Speaker 1: most beautiful thing you've ever seen. And we have it
- 14:52Speaker 1: on our bartops all around. But yeah, this place, this place, yes, yes, uh,
- 15:00Speaker 1: this place uh did have the benefit of us all
- 15:05Speaker 1: getting in and looking at every countertop and looking at
- 15:08Speaker 1: every corner that was out there, and it was a
- 15:11Speaker 1: labor of love. While we're talking about it, and I
- 15:13Speaker 1: know we're talking too much about Arkansas, but Coach Brawls
- 15:16Speaker 1: was such an inspiration for me here and uh he
- 15:20Speaker 1: really gave me a lot of keep going in, a
- 15:24Speaker 1: lot of of confidence, if you will on it. He
- 15:27Speaker 1: took us to the Astronome when I was nineteen. We
- 15:30Speaker 1: were down there to get ready to play Nebraska and
- 15:33Speaker 1: the Cotton Bowl here in Dallas, and he took us
- 15:36Speaker 1: away from the fans. He took us out there. There
- 15:38Speaker 1: had never been a game played in the Astronome, but
- 15:40Speaker 1: it was ready to go. Godly, it looked like mars it.
- 15:45Speaker 1: How could you think about playing a game? And all
- 15:48Speaker 1: I know is that from that point forward I read
- 15:52Speaker 1: everything I could talk to everybody I could about it.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Roller clock forward thirty years later, I was thinking about
- 15:57Speaker 1: this place A T and T now show you how
- 16:01Speaker 1: kicking in for young people happens. I didn't know where
- 16:04Speaker 1: I was gonna get all the money, but I knew
- 16:06Speaker 1: one thing a man could do it because I had
- 16:09Speaker 1: been in one that a man did, the astro dough. Well,
- 16:13Speaker 1: guess what happens when you're young. When you get a
- 16:15Speaker 1: chance to do it, you go. You can put five
- 16:18Speaker 1: of those damn astro domes in here today, so you
- 16:21Speaker 1: always if you get inspired or you can make it go.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Question two if three talking about music for a second
- 16:27Speaker 1: and a free time, who do you listen to? And
- 16:29Speaker 1: then the A C. M. S Are coming here? Like
- 16:30Speaker 1: you're super instrumental in that, Um, why do you feel
- 16:34Speaker 1: like country of music is so on brand with what
- 16:36Speaker 1: you're doing? And then also who do you listen to? Well,
- 16:39Speaker 1: first of all, it comes natural. When my father had
- 16:43Speaker 1: his store of a grocery store, my sister and I
- 16:46Speaker 1: lived above it, but in the middle of the store
- 16:49Speaker 1: he built a bandstand, and he brought in a great marketer,
- 16:54Speaker 1: announcer and little rock called Brother Howe. And he brought
- 16:58Speaker 1: Brother Howe in from Forest City, or and saw and
- 17:00Speaker 1: Brother Howe did live of amateur talent contest and he
- 17:06Speaker 1: basically made and and produced and produced shows right out
- 17:11Speaker 1: of the middle of the store. It was a big
- 17:13Speaker 1: stand right in the middle of the store. And so
- 17:16Speaker 1: I just grew up. I was around it all the time.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I was around the store constantly, right across the street.
- 17:22Speaker 1: It was a great if you will, honky Ton and
- 17:25Speaker 1: some of the greatest names of country, Hank Williams, those
- 17:30Speaker 1: kind of guys. And I got to see it because
- 17:33Speaker 1: of my age evolve up through uh el us a
- 17:36Speaker 1: couple of years older than me. But my point is
- 17:39Speaker 1: I have lived uh the great mainstream of country and
- 17:46Speaker 1: if you will, a little of the rock and roll
- 17:48Speaker 1: that we all looked back on today, Well I lived that.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And my dad would uh just frankly in his own
- 17:56Speaker 1: way and docnating. He had a band called the Pat Supermarketeers.
- 17:59Speaker 1: His name was Pats, called pass exactly Pats, and he
- 18:04Speaker 1: would take that band and he'd be out late and
- 18:07Speaker 1: having a good time where the country music rolling, and boy,
- 18:10Speaker 1: he'd bring that band in and here it would go.
- 18:12Speaker 1: And he had only let his friend stay in, but
- 18:14Speaker 1: everybody was his friend, so they'd have a big time
- 18:17Speaker 1: and keep it open. Who do you who'd you listen
- 18:19Speaker 1: to it this morning? Just give me a couple of
- 18:20Speaker 1: artists you like still. I like Stapleton of course, and
- 18:23Speaker 1: uh not of course, but I like Stapleton, And Uh,
- 18:28Speaker 1: I stopped in my tracks when any of those uh
- 18:31Speaker 1: great ones uh come in. Uh. But I'm a great
- 18:35Speaker 1: Roy Orbison fan. Uh and uh, he'll stop me in
- 18:39Speaker 1: my tracks when I see some of his great music.
- 18:42Speaker 1: And uh, I can't move when dream comes on, Dreams, Dreams,
- 18:48Speaker 1: dream dreamed. That's pretty good. Huh, Roy, you're right over. Yeah, alright,
- 18:53Speaker 1: Final question for you, Mr John, Sorry Jerry, Final question. Um.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I know that so much of what you do is
- 18:58Speaker 1: giving back to not only this community, but also you
- 19:02Speaker 1: can drive on the campus of Fabeville, the football complex.
- 19:04Speaker 1: You guys have done so much there, But now there's
- 19:07Speaker 1: a museum being built right outside of the stadium. Can
- 19:09Speaker 1: you tell me about that? Well, we're extraordinarily privileged, uh
- 19:14Speaker 1: to get to use this forum, if you will. The Cowboys,
- 19:17Speaker 1: the visibility and the National Medal of Honor winners, not winners,
- 19:25Speaker 1: but recipients, decided to let us help fund and build
- 19:30Speaker 1: the National Medal of Honor Museum. And in conjunction with that,
- 19:34Speaker 1: the same monument is not the same one, but a
- 19:37Speaker 1: monument is being built in Washington to recognize the great
- 19:42Speaker 1: stories of as patriots, of what men and women have
- 19:47Speaker 1: done for this country. And I think it's so big
- 19:50Speaker 1: right now where the Cowboys want to do something special
- 19:54Speaker 1: is it's like this stadium. This stadium was not built
- 19:57Speaker 1: for the hundred thousand had come to the game. It's
- 19:59Speaker 1: a great place, but it was built for thirty five million.
- 20:02Speaker 1: It was built for thirty million. That's who aw Michael's
- 20:05Speaker 1: is talking to. That's who John Madden was talking to. Well,
- 20:08Speaker 1: we want to take the stories of the Medal of
- 20:11Speaker 1: Honor recipients and we want those to not only be
- 20:15Speaker 1: recognized through a tangible thing close by, but somehow we
- 20:19Speaker 1: want those stories to get involved, somehow mixed in. Wonder
- 20:22Speaker 1: how we're gonna do that. We've got a plan and
- 20:24Speaker 1: mixed in and so that when thirty million people are
- 20:27Speaker 1: watching these games, they can hear about what these Medal
- 20:30Speaker 1: of Honors did for them to get to sit there
- 20:32Speaker 1: with the freedom to watch the game. Jerry, I appreciate
- 20:36Speaker 1: the time, Thank you very much, massive fan, and can't
- 20:39Speaker 1: wait to come back for the A C. M S,
- 20:40Speaker 1: which they're thinking about letting me host. I think a
- 20:42Speaker 1: call from Jerry Jones saying, Bobby Bones and my guy
- 20:45Speaker 1: would really kick that door in. Well, Bobby, I'm a
- 20:48Speaker 1: great fan of yours. I really, I really really am.
- 20:51Speaker 1: And let's don't make this the last time that we
- 20:54Speaker 1: have a visit. You've got a passion between the just
- 21:00Speaker 1: and really you're what you think is important, and music
- 21:03Speaker 1: is a big part of it. Music is a big
- 21:05Speaker 1: part of the Cowboys. We play it hard every day
- 21:07Speaker 1: during practice just to have the kind of replicating the
- 21:11Speaker 1: noise that they'll be seeing. And I was down here
- 21:13Speaker 1: in the dressing room. I wish I had taken you down,
- 21:15Speaker 1: but you couldn't have heard yourself talk in that dressing room.
- 21:19Speaker 1: And the biggest fights that come on in the dressing rooms,
- 21:21Speaker 1: whether we're gonna pay country, we're gonna play some soul,
- 21:25Speaker 1: and then every now and one will step up and say, guys,
- 21:27Speaker 1: I'm tired of this argument We're gonna have a little
- 21:30Speaker 1: church music in here before we go to the field
- 21:32Speaker 1: and maybe little Roy Orbison dream. Jerry Jones, everybody, Jerry,
- 21:36Speaker 1: thank you, very thank goodby. There you go, Jerry Jone.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Let's get a round. Who Really one of the coolest
- 21:43Speaker 1: multimoment days ever for me. I mean when it comes
- 21:46Speaker 1: to people from where I'm from that have made it
- 21:49Speaker 1: like that's that's it and just a recap on the story.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Like Jerry Jones to me is an inspiring GUI didn't
- 21:55Speaker 1: grow up with a bunch of money, and he even
- 21:58Speaker 1: talked about that, you know how he messed up a
- 22:00Speaker 1: bunch He didn't. He took some chances and some of
- 22:04Speaker 1: those chances weren't successful. But I think that's and that's
- 22:06Speaker 1: when I wrote, and I've written books about like you
- 22:09Speaker 1: gotta put yourself out there and be vulnerable to failing
- 22:11Speaker 1: big and then when you do, because you probably will
- 22:14Speaker 1: at some point, especially early, you have to have the
- 22:17Speaker 1: tenacity to get back up and go okay. I learned
- 22:19Speaker 1: something from that. Let me keep going. That's what Jerry
- 22:22Speaker 1: Jones is about. And what was cool for me about
- 22:25Speaker 1: that interview was Jerry Jones, two people is one of
- 22:28Speaker 1: two people. He's either your hero because you're a massive
- 22:32Speaker 1: Cowboys fan, or your enemy because you love the Eagles
- 22:36Speaker 1: of the Giants or another team. And in sports, if
- 22:38Speaker 1: we're not on with that guy, then they're not our guy.
- 22:42Speaker 1: And that's what we love about sports, because if you
- 22:45Speaker 1: hate somebody in sports, you respect him. It's like when
- 22:48Speaker 1: I talk about teams, like the fan base from the
- 22:51Speaker 1: University of Texas hate them, all of them, Yeah, but
- 22:55Speaker 1: I respect I hate him because I respect him that.
- 22:58Speaker 1: It's like the University of Tennessee. They get on my
- 23:00Speaker 1: dang nerves. Kentucky basketball. I want to choke him, but
- 23:04Speaker 1: I do because one day matter or I wouldn't care
- 23:08Speaker 1: at all, and to like, I respect it. Hey them,
- 23:12Speaker 1: but hey them because they're annoying to me because I
- 23:13Speaker 1: want my team to win. And man, Jerry Jones, legit,
- 23:16Speaker 1: let's talk about the day, and let's talk about how
- 23:19Speaker 1: we got there. I literally sent an email to the website. Hey,
- 23:22Speaker 1: my name is Bobby Can I zoom with Jerry Jones,
- 23:26Speaker 1: And I sent it to an account that was like
- 23:28Speaker 1: Cowboys Cowboys dot com and I gotta bounce back, going,
- 23:33Speaker 1: Hey the person, your email doesn't work there anymore, and
- 23:35Speaker 1: I'm like, so then I said, you can go to
- 23:37Speaker 1: this person or this person. So I sent a message
- 23:39Speaker 1: to Tad, who works with the Dallas Cowboys, who's head
- 23:44Speaker 1: of like vice president of media, whomever, whatever his specific
- 23:48Speaker 1: job title is. He's a big wig over there, and
- 23:50Speaker 1: he messaged me back. I don't know what he looks like,
- 23:52Speaker 1: and I don't know, but he was super cool. But
- 23:54Speaker 1: he was like, hey, I don't know, we'll see if
- 23:56Speaker 1: Jerry is interested in this. And Days go By, Okay,
- 24:00Speaker 1: maybe Jerry likes to talk to you. Days go By?
- 24:03Speaker 1: You know what if we don't do a zoom? Do
- 24:05Speaker 1: you ever come to games? That's the question Days go By?
- 24:08Speaker 1: Would you come to a game? Which one can you pick?
- 24:10Speaker 1: I only had one weekend of all of it, and
- 24:13Speaker 1: so I was like, I know I'm putting in a
- 24:14Speaker 1: bad spot, but this is the one weekend I'm available.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Are you guys? Yes, Days go By? Mm hmm. Something
- 24:21Speaker 1: came up and I would expect ten things to come up.
- 24:23Speaker 1: That's Jerry Jones. Still, they made it happen. We get
- 24:27Speaker 1: there that morning because we fly on Saturday night to
- 24:30Speaker 1: have dinner. It was awesome and everybody's giddy. We're talking
- 24:34Speaker 1: about it, but also I expect when we go that morning,
- 24:37Speaker 1: there's gonna be lots of people, media groups, different reporters,
- 24:41Speaker 1: and we're going to Jerry Jones Hangar to meet with
- 24:45Speaker 1: whomever and fly to the game. I know Jerry's gonna
- 24:47Speaker 1: be there, but who knows what he's taking and what
- 24:50Speaker 1: we're taking. We go to the hangar to take a bust.
- 24:52Speaker 1: We go the hanger take I don't know. So we
- 24:54Speaker 1: go to the hangar and we're the first ones there
- 24:57Speaker 1: because I'm always on time every single time, and I'm like, okay,
- 24:59Speaker 1: we're first scraggle in. We're talking to the pilot, we're
- 25:04Speaker 1: talking to some of his crew, super nice and kind,
- 25:07Speaker 1: and they're like, hey, Jerry be here in a few
- 25:08Speaker 1: minutes in Texas and let's walk on out. I'm looking around,
- 25:11Speaker 1: like where's the Dallas Morning News? And every time the
- 25:14Speaker 1: door would open, you know, it would be like a
- 25:16Speaker 1: guy carrying like chips to fill the vending machine or something. Well, no,
- 25:20Speaker 1: it's not it, okay. I think about Jerry though. He
- 25:23Speaker 1: drives his car ride out doors. So we go out
- 25:27Speaker 1: and Jerry Jr. Drives up and hit awesome car and
- 25:30Speaker 1: I was like, how kind of cars that? So we
- 25:31Speaker 1: start talking and he's super nice, and I think he asked, Eddy,
- 25:34Speaker 1: how did you guys get here? Yeah? He did. He's like,
- 25:37Speaker 1: so how did all this come together with dad? I
- 25:41Speaker 1: don't know, dude, I really don't know how they all
- 25:43Speaker 1: getting together with your dad? Like, Bobby just sent a
- 25:46Speaker 1: message and here we are. It's pretty cool. So then
- 25:49Speaker 1: the car drives up and it's Jerry and Stephen. Stephen's driving,
- 25:55Speaker 1: Jerry's in the passenger seat. It's so normal, Stephen's driving.
- 25:57Speaker 1: They don't even have a driver drivers. It was the
- 26:00Speaker 1: most beautifully bizarre thing, and how normal it was because
- 26:05Speaker 1: they have such an abnormal situation of having built the
- 26:08Speaker 1: billions of dollars. So I'm like, I guess the Dallas
- 26:13Speaker 1: Morning News didn't show up. Well, I guess we're leaving
- 26:16Speaker 1: without them, and their accounting seats are like, oh yeah,
- 26:18Speaker 1: we've good, let's go. And so we get into the helicopter.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Hey before them bones though, like when it was you
- 26:24Speaker 1: look at the helicopter and you look at the seats,
- 26:27Speaker 1: I don't know, eight eight seats, seven seven seats, seven seats,
- 26:30Speaker 1: and I'm like double counting us and I'm like, oh
- 26:33Speaker 1: my gosh, there are eight of us. Who's going to
- 26:35Speaker 1: be left behind? But it was perfect. So there were
- 26:39Speaker 1: seven or seven of us because I had to send
- 26:40Speaker 1: in the passengers. By the way, I think they knew,
- 26:42Speaker 1: but I was still worried. So we get in and
- 26:45Speaker 1: there's there's a group of four that all look at
- 26:47Speaker 1: each other. So it was me, Jerry Jr. Stephen and
- 26:51Speaker 1: Jerry all sitting in this little room, this group, and
- 26:54Speaker 1: then right behind them Row three, where Eddie, Mike and
- 26:56Speaker 1: Caitlin all set and so we all put our headsets on.
- 26:59Speaker 1: It's just cool to put head that on. A helicopter's
- 27:00Speaker 1: like a t television awesome, and we go up. I
- 27:06Speaker 1: haven't been in many helicopters. I've been in a few
- 27:08Speaker 1: based on my last TV shows in the past few years.
- 27:10Speaker 1: But it's still new to me. And it feels weird,
- 27:12Speaker 1: doesn't it? To go up? In Hell? It's not normal
- 27:14Speaker 1: because like you're you know, you know airplanes, you go forward,
- 27:16Speaker 1: you move forward, and it's just like all right, but
- 27:18Speaker 1: this is weird because it just hovers and wiggles. Yeah,
- 27:23Speaker 1: it's it's like you're wiggling going up. You get do
- 27:26Speaker 1: you feel sketchy at all. I mean it was your
- 27:27Speaker 1: first in Mike, you two right, first time, I didn't
- 27:30Speaker 1: feel sketchy at all, you know, and it felt pretty
- 27:32Speaker 1: good to me too. But the first time I ever
- 27:34Speaker 1: went up in one, I was like, this feels not stable, um,
- 27:39Speaker 1: But we go and we go up and the weather
- 27:41Speaker 1: was a little foggy, so there were no mountains, so
- 27:43Speaker 1: we were good. But they were like, we'll stay a
- 27:45Speaker 1: little lower and we'll just fly over the game. So
- 27:48Speaker 1: we flew to again. We're in his they have now,
- 27:50Speaker 1: and I felt that I was in very precious space
- 27:54Speaker 1: because I was for that time in that little circle
- 27:57Speaker 1: for I was part of the family group. We're all
- 27:59Speaker 1: just talking and Jerry Jones was so generous with what
- 28:04Speaker 1: he was willing to talk about because it was whatever.
- 28:06Speaker 1: He was just talking. And we talked about a lot
- 28:10Speaker 1: of stuff, some stuff I felt was personal and I
- 28:12Speaker 1: will never share. It'll be under lock and key forever
- 28:15Speaker 1: because I wouldn't want if I'm having a personal conversation
- 28:17Speaker 1: somebody to tell that stuff, regardless of how known or
- 28:19Speaker 1: not known I am. And if anyone's listening and feels
- 28:22Speaker 1: left out with that information, don't worry I share that
- 28:24Speaker 1: with you, because my headset wasn't working and I didn't
- 28:26Speaker 1: hear any of it either, and that's where I was going.
- 28:30Speaker 1: We finished we land, and right before we get out,
- 28:32Speaker 1: I was like, it wasn't that awesome. I all that
- 28:34Speaker 1: cowboy stuff, all the ownership stuff, and he goes my
- 28:38Speaker 1: heads that wasn't plugged, and I was like, I was wondering,
- 28:41Speaker 1: why you don't get a conversation. So apparently his headset
- 28:44Speaker 1: wasn't broken, it just wasn't plugged in, and there was
- 28:47Speaker 1: a hole to plug it in, but it was right
- 28:49Speaker 1: by Jerry above every seat as a hole to plug
- 28:52Speaker 1: in your your microphone headset or whatever, and Jerry had
- 28:55Speaker 1: taken the one that's plugged into mine, So that means
- 28:58Speaker 1: that the empty one was right next to Jerry's ear.
- 29:01Speaker 1: And every time Mr Jones would lean over to talk
- 29:04Speaker 1: to Bobby, I'm like I could lean over and plug
- 29:08Speaker 1: it in, but then he would sit back and I'd
- 29:09Speaker 1: be like, oh my gosh, And if I tickle his ear,
- 29:11Speaker 1: he's gonna be like, what the crap, like gonna make
- 29:13Speaker 1: you his best friend? That's true. I didn't want to
- 29:15Speaker 1: risk it. So that after like the third attempt bones,
- 29:18Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm done. So they didn't get to hear
- 29:19Speaker 1: any of that. I don't know what was wrong in mine.
- 29:21Speaker 1: I plugged it in and plugged it back. I checked
- 29:23Speaker 1: the pack. Nothing. So we land and I'm gonna pause
- 29:27Speaker 1: for a second. We'll come back to the story and
- 29:29Speaker 1: remind you the Draft Kings and Whistles we're a team too.

- 31:36Speaker 1: We land before you get there. What if you can
- 31:40Speaker 1: share the information. What was he saying while we were
- 31:43Speaker 1: circling Jerry's world, Because to me, that was like take
- 31:46Speaker 1: us on an extra run. He goes, oh, let's do
- 31:48Speaker 1: it again. Told the pilots, I want to show them
- 31:50Speaker 1: this and to one around really extra time. Yeah, it
- 31:52Speaker 1: was surreal, dude. You're literally watching what he made with
- 31:56Speaker 1: the man that made it, you know, and he's just
- 31:58Speaker 1: so we're just circling and me, I can't hear what
- 32:00Speaker 1: you guys are talking about, so I'm just kind of
- 32:02Speaker 1: visualizing the whole thing. You whatever story he's telling you,
- 32:05Speaker 1: we're flying over his creation. There are a bunch of
- 32:08Speaker 1: people lining up to get in the building for the game,
- 32:10Speaker 1: like this is just beautiful. He was talking about what
- 32:13Speaker 1: was important to him when he built it, meaning it
- 32:16Speaker 1: was for all the people there, but he wanted it
- 32:17Speaker 1: to be a masterpiece for the fifteen million they are
- 32:20Speaker 1: also watching it that day, and how he wanted that.
- 32:26Speaker 1: When when we were going around and showing different parts
- 32:28Speaker 1: that were important to him, and also the museum that
- 32:30Speaker 1: they're working on for the veterans and showing where that
- 32:34Speaker 1: was coming up. Oh, that's really colors, It's all. Yeah,
- 32:36Speaker 1: it was. It was so cool. It doesn't feel real.
- 32:39Speaker 1: We land and there are a lot of cowboys fans
- 32:41Speaker 1: that no, Jerry's chopper lands there and they are surrender.
- 32:43Speaker 1: They're like Jerry and he gets out. He was so
- 32:47Speaker 1: generous with his time, and this was consistent throughout the day.
- 32:51Speaker 1: But he walked over, it was like, Sam, what's up
- 32:55Speaker 1: to to them? He was just grateful they were there.
- 32:56Speaker 1: They were grateful he was. He was like, hey, guys,
- 32:58Speaker 1: hey guys, and he goes Bobby become over here. It's
- 33:01Speaker 1: so loud, but he goes, hey, everybody, this Bobby bones
- 33:03Speaker 1: and you can't really hear the people really because they're
- 33:06Speaker 1: the helicopters right behind us shutting off, and they're all
- 33:09Speaker 1: Jerry Jerry, and he goes, look, they're big fans of yours.
- 33:12Speaker 1: I didn't see a single person like he was. He's
- 33:16Speaker 1: such a star there. There wasn't a they were just like,
- 33:18Speaker 1: move the nerdy guy, more Jerry. And so we walked in.
- 33:22Speaker 1: We hopp in some SUV's right up right up there.
- 33:25Speaker 1: There's people everywhere, and Jerry's like waving saying hi to people.
- 33:28Speaker 1: He's like a politician, but he doesn't need their votes.
- 33:31Speaker 1: He's just saying hello. It feels like they're valuable to him.
- 33:37Speaker 1: He's valuable to them, they're valuable to him. Boom. So
- 33:40Speaker 1: we go, we go underneath and he goes, we're talking.
- 33:42Speaker 1: It's a work area where you drive underneath, like the bowels,
- 33:45Speaker 1: but it's spotless clean. And he says, it's important to
- 33:49Speaker 1: me that this is super clean because if this is
- 33:51Speaker 1: spotless clean, the rest of it's gonna be immaculate. So
- 33:55Speaker 1: we land our car stop. We got multiple SUVs. We're
- 33:58Speaker 1: all in. I'm running with Jerry. So it's Caitlin and
- 34:00Speaker 1: maybe Jerry junior Stephen, but Stephen with Jerry Jr. Let
- 34:04Speaker 1: me tell you how how like chill Jerry Jones is
- 34:06Speaker 1: and this party, this part, I couldn't believe. There's an suv.
- 34:09Speaker 1: There's the driver in the open front seat, and then
- 34:12Speaker 1: there's two seats and two seats, and so Caitlyn gets
- 34:16Speaker 1: in first because they told her to get in, and
- 34:19Speaker 1: then Jerry comes up and they're pulling the seat back
- 34:20Speaker 1: and Jerry tries to get in the very back. Yeah.
- 34:23Speaker 1: He was like, I'll just crawl in the very back.
- 34:25Speaker 1: I'm not kidding, and I go Jerry, Jry, no, no, no, no,
- 34:29Speaker 1: like no, no, I'll get the bay. That's what a
- 34:32Speaker 1: dude you want. He was like, I'll just get in
- 34:33Speaker 1: the very very bad, not the front and not just
- 34:37Speaker 1: right there and making somebody else. He was climbing in
- 34:39Speaker 1: the very back like you and your boys piling an uber. Yes,
- 34:42Speaker 1: he was piling in and we're like no, no, no no,
- 34:45Speaker 1: so we had to like yell, don't. And then Caitlyn
- 34:49Speaker 1: got in the back. I don't know who got in
- 34:50Speaker 1: the back. Jerry, he owns the old thing. So we
- 34:56Speaker 1: drive around, we go in and he's gonna go talk
- 34:58Speaker 1: to coach and it's like I'm gonna coach and go
- 35:00Speaker 1: and go down to the field. And he's like, but
- 35:01Speaker 1: whatever I do, you can roll with me, Like whatever
- 35:04Speaker 1: you like, whatever you want, let's go. And so I
- 35:06Speaker 1: was like, once you do that, because I want to
- 35:07Speaker 1: take Eddie on Mike down on the field. And so
- 35:09Speaker 1: we go. That's where we went down on the field,
- 35:11Speaker 1: and there's a rope for people that have access, but
- 35:13Speaker 1: then there's no rope for people who have all like
- 35:16Speaker 1: like they just let us do whatever we want. We
- 35:18Speaker 1: had all acts if you guys have like passes or anything,
- 35:20Speaker 1: or we did nobody questions because we had like Jerry's
- 35:23Speaker 1: people with their rolling with the owner. And then Jerry
- 35:26Speaker 1: would walk out and check on me, be like, hey
- 35:27Speaker 1: are you good? Popped back there? What can I And
- 35:30Speaker 1: I'm like yeah. I was like, you can stop checking
- 35:32Speaker 1: on me, Like I just want to stay out of
- 35:33Speaker 1: your way. He goes, no, no no, this is this is
- 35:34Speaker 1: you do. This is do whatever you want. So we
- 35:37Speaker 1: we hang out. We talked to Matt Overton, who's our friend,
- 35:39Speaker 1: just to in turn on the show, Eddie screams every
- 35:41Speaker 1: player's name, every single player I saw that I recognized,
- 35:44Speaker 1: I would screen their name, but I didn't realize after
- 35:46Speaker 1: like the second player. They're wearing like headphones and a
- 35:49Speaker 1: lot of them had buds, you know, they go in
- 35:51Speaker 1: the rear. That's why you can't hear me. Guy Letty
- 35:53Speaker 1: yell that digs and he thought Caitlin was yelling at him,
- 35:55Speaker 1: so he like smiles at her and he's like I
- 35:57Speaker 1: kind of like got in the way jealous between them,
- 35:59Speaker 1: and like waved back at him. Yeah. So we're on
- 36:02Speaker 1: the field and Jerry's hanging out and he's like, hey,
- 36:04Speaker 1: Bobby squaks some pictures. Jerry's like, let's cook. He takes
- 36:06Speaker 1: the pictures out here. The owner, the main guys like ranked.
- 36:09Speaker 1: So we take pictures and he's like, whom it's all
- 36:13Speaker 1: for you? The like is anybody else? Does else live
- 36:15Speaker 1: here that you know whatever? And I said, well, Caitlin's
- 36:17Speaker 1: parents are here. They came to the game. I bought
- 36:18Speaker 1: him tickets for a dad's birthday. He's like, we'll get
- 36:20Speaker 1: them down here. So they're gonna get Caitlin's parents and
- 36:23Speaker 1: bring them down on the field. He takes pictures with them,
- 36:25Speaker 1: he says, I spends time with them. We go in
- 36:29Speaker 1: to the press room, all of us I think Jerry
- 36:33Speaker 1: goes to get some water, some to eat real quick.
- 36:34Speaker 1: He hops out real quick, and we're just getting ready
- 36:36Speaker 1: to the interview. Put a couple of chairs up there,
- 36:37Speaker 1: and there's the podium and I'm just messing around and I
- 36:40Speaker 1: I get up on the podium. All right, guys, thank
- 36:41Speaker 1: you for coming by press conference. I know it was
- 36:43Speaker 1: second in two, but I decided to punt because I
- 36:44Speaker 1: felt like that was the right hall in the Super Bowl.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Just being stupid when he slides in the side and
- 36:48Speaker 1: starts tackling me from the seats for the reporters, he
- 36:51Speaker 1: sits down as he's a reporter and starts tackling Bobby.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Really yeah, what was he saying? He was like, Hey,
- 36:57Speaker 1: you kiss anything recently, because you can probab kiss your job. Goodbye.
- 37:01Speaker 1: He's like, Fish, go ahead and finish what you're gonna say.
- 37:03Speaker 1: That's the last time you'll ever say go to this team.
- 37:08Speaker 1: And so we sat down and we do the interview.
- 37:11Speaker 1: I ended it. I didn't have a time. I was
- 37:13Speaker 1: looking at the game. The game was starting like twenty
- 37:15Speaker 1: five minutes, but I was like, I don't want to
- 37:17Speaker 1: keep them all day. They never pressed me to in
- 37:18Speaker 1: the interview, but I was like, we did whatever it was,
- 37:22Speaker 1: I'm just gonna end it out of respect, and you
- 37:26Speaker 1: heard it. Yeah, he was just gracious and generous with
- 37:29Speaker 1: his answers. I mean, I couldn't be a bigger fan
- 37:31Speaker 1: now the arc, this small town of Arkansas, I think
- 37:34Speaker 1: definitely was a bond between us. Oh yeah, for sure.
- 37:36Speaker 1: You could hear it in his voice too. And we finished,
- 37:39Speaker 1: We went to we went up to his suite and
- 37:42Speaker 1: he was like, I'm gonna go sit with the Scouts
- 37:43Speaker 1: for a while. A sad come up there and I
- 37:46Speaker 1: was like, well, or you can stay like down with
- 37:48Speaker 1: in the box too, because it's like two layered. We
- 37:51Speaker 1: did that when set and eight, I wanted to hang
- 37:53Speaker 1: out with my friends to Eddie and Mike, and also
- 37:54Speaker 1: wanted to not bother Jerry anymore because he dedicated so
- 37:57Speaker 1: much time to us and so we ate food and awesome. Uh.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Talked to the Senator, talked to the somebody from the House.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Kender Scott, talked to kender Scott did I talked a lot,
- 38:09Speaker 1: but the woman from the Texas House representatives about legalized
- 38:13Speaker 1: and sports gambling. Because I will I talk to governors
- 38:15Speaker 1: about this part of what I do is to talk
- 38:18Speaker 1: about the benefits for the state, for the people, and
- 38:23Speaker 1: why at times it's hypocritical for them to say no
- 38:25Speaker 1: because of other precedents that have been said. And her
- 38:27Speaker 1: and I had this whole conversation about it, and he's like,
- 38:29Speaker 1: oh god, you gotta started. That's her thing too, that's
- 38:32Speaker 1: her agenda too. Like we were just really aligned on that.
- 38:35Speaker 1: And so the Cowboys one, oh, barely. I feel like
- 38:39Speaker 1: they scated into the game like this Texans who I
- 38:41Speaker 1: had that feeling too. Then they want at the end,
- 38:43Speaker 1: they knew they had to do it, and they did it.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Thank god. Let me tell what was tough for me,
- 38:46Speaker 1: because you know, it's game day and I watched these
- 38:48Speaker 1: these games and when there's a bad pastors, I'm like,
- 38:51Speaker 1: damn it, Dac, You're like, no, don't get the ball
- 38:53Speaker 1: to Zeke. Couldn't do that when in the owners of
- 38:55Speaker 1: it's like you can't criticize on what they're doing there.
- 38:58Speaker 1: And the guy was playing who was setting our seeds
- 39:01Speaker 1: for fantasy because I needed to win to get the
- 39:04Speaker 1: two seed for a bye. He had Tony Pollard and
- 39:07Speaker 1: Paulard scored the first two touchdowns and like I was happy,
- 39:10Speaker 1: but I was also like, god dag it bones is
- 39:12Speaker 1: trying to find red zone on the pulled up well.
- 39:15Speaker 1: I pulled up reds on my phone on YouTube TV
- 39:18Speaker 1: and Kalin's like, I get it, but not here stop
- 39:20Speaker 1: that crowd. Were you sitting up above everybody though? Or
- 39:23Speaker 1: no or down below? People can see in the box
- 39:26Speaker 1: in the middle of the middle, but it's like it's
- 39:27Speaker 1: a massive It's not your regular box, and even a
- 39:32Speaker 1: regular box is swanky. This is the owner is amazing.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Our final thoughts after I tell you about again. Drafting

- 40:47Speaker 1: I told my wife that you don't have to give

- 40:51Speaker 1: didn't get that. It doesn't matter. I'll tell everyone you
- 40:55Speaker 1: don't have to get anything for Christmas because I will
- 40:57Speaker 1: never ever go to a sports game, and and top
- 41:01Speaker 1: of this, this is just the ultimate of every experience
- 41:05Speaker 1: going to a sports game and me loving the Dallas
- 41:07Speaker 1: Cowboys bones. I want to say thank you, uh, Jerry Jones,
- 41:11Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys, Tad, everyone that just allowed this to happen. Dude,
- 41:15Speaker 1: I get emotional thinking about it because I've thought about
- 41:17Speaker 1: it NonStop since we've been back home. It's been amazing.
- 41:20Speaker 1: So thank you so much, Mike. I would say each
- 41:23Speaker 1: one of these events individually would have been amazing, and
- 41:26Speaker 1: the fact that everything happened according to plan is still
- 41:29Speaker 1: mind blowing. You too. And I was expecting at one
- 41:31Speaker 1: point for me not to be a part of something
- 41:33Speaker 1: like for me, oh, there's not a spot on the helicopter,
- 41:35Speaker 1: there's not a spot in the sue. I was expecting them, like,
- 41:38Speaker 1: you know, just not to be a part of it.
- 41:40Speaker 1: And the fact that I got to experience everything there
- 41:43Speaker 1: was amazing, and I think I soaked it up at
- 41:45Speaker 1: one point when I was eating wacamole watching my favorite
- 41:49Speaker 1: team come back winning. It was amazing. It's special, a
- 41:54Speaker 1: special day, and thanks to Tad, thanks to Jerry. I mean,
- 41:58Speaker 1: I come away from it because you know, I have
- 42:00Speaker 1: a job where at times I can become jaded because yeah,
- 42:06Speaker 1: I have a couple of TV shows and I have
- 42:07Speaker 1: this massive radio show. When we talked to celebrities, and
- 42:10Speaker 1: it just becomes almost like a factory in and out.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Most famous people, if they're fine, it's like regular people.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Some you don't like, some of you do. They have
- 42:22Speaker 1: a talent that culturally we've deemed important, so we spent
- 42:25Speaker 1: a little time with them. Um, but this trip just
- 42:30Speaker 1: kind of reminded me that it doesn't matter what's up.
- 42:34Speaker 1: People are still people, and some people rock. He didn't
- 42:37Speaker 1: have to be that nice to us. He wasn't gonna
- 42:41Speaker 1: be mean, but he could have been just nice and hey,
- 42:44Speaker 1: and we have thought it was the coolest thing ever.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Even just to walk on the field to a five
- 42:48Speaker 1: minute interview would have been like, dang, that was the
- 42:49Speaker 1: coolest thing have to He was like attend an extra
- 42:54Speaker 1: attentive human for the sake of being an extra attentive human.
- 42:58Speaker 1: And I'm very grateful for that and for the whole
- 43:01Speaker 1: Cowboys organization. It was just real special to be able
- 43:04Speaker 1: to take you guys to do that was the coolest
- 43:06Speaker 1: part of it to me. And to be able to
- 43:08Speaker 1: hang out with another guy from Arkansas who has made
- 43:10Speaker 1: it really big from not a whole lot like that's
- 43:13Speaker 1: inspiring to me as well. So I don't know if
- 43:16Speaker 1: any of those guys will hear this, if they even
- 43:18Speaker 1: spent a second listening back to it, but if you do,
- 43:22Speaker 1: we're super grateful. And I think that's it. We're just grateful.
- 43:28Speaker 1: That's all, very grateful. It was a really cool thing
- 43:31Speaker 1: for us to do. Meant meant a lot to us.
- 43:33Speaker 1: And hopefully we'll see you again sometime in this life
- 43:36Speaker 1: for the next that'd be great, hopefully soon. Um. But Charlotte,
- 43:44Speaker 1: his daughter, was super kind. I really wish they'd make
- 43:47Speaker 1: the call of the a c M and be like,
- 43:48Speaker 1: we won't Bobby to host the show you put put
- 43:50Speaker 1: in their aimes. Well, it's just out there. We're already
- 43:53Speaker 1: talking with them, and it's a i'm a I know, yeah,
- 43:58Speaker 1: we're already talking with the Amazon a little about it,
- 44:02Speaker 1: but it's gonna take the push of somebody to do it. Yeah,
- 44:06Speaker 1: and and and you know, I don't want to be
- 44:08Speaker 1: It would be cool if they did that. Oh man,
- 44:13Speaker 1: that'll be cool. Organization. Thank you go Cowboys and that
- 44:19Speaker 1: is that's our Jerry Jones Special. Thank you for listening.
- 44:21Speaker 1: There's a lot of clips of this up on my
- 44:24Speaker 1: TikTok up on Instagram. We'll put some of the twenty
- 44:26Speaker 1: five whistles page follow at twenty five whistles and you
- 44:29Speaker 1: guys have a great day. See later.
