- 0:03Speaker 1: Hey, let's talk good guest today. We're excited about it.
- 0:08Speaker 1: I'm going to start you off with a trivia question.
- 0:10Speaker 1: I think you won a silver slugger.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Mm hmm okay, but.
- 0:17Speaker 3: I'm not allowed to show it on TV because you
- 0:18Speaker 3: guys make you guys don't like.
- 0:20Speaker 2: The way it looks.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Is that true.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I didn't know you guys moved it out of the shot,
- 0:24Speaker 2: so I guess not. I guess so.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Oh, we might have some maintenance to do when we're
- 0:28Speaker 1: back in studio. AJ. We might have to show that
- 0:31Speaker 1: off so people remember it. So the silver slugger going
- 0:34Speaker 1: to top hitters per position?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Too shiny? Too shiny?
- 0:38Speaker 1: Oh, too shiny? Okay, Well, maybe we can deshine it
- 0:43Speaker 1: or something like that. I don't know, we'll figure something out.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Its dusty.
- 0:47Speaker 3: It just sits in in our room. Yeah, and it's
- 0:49Speaker 3: under Scott's all Scott's clothing so and his knick knacks.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Ye know, he's got a lot of chats keys, because
- 0:55Speaker 3: you got more bobble heads than anyone I've ever seen,
- 0:57Speaker 3: Scott or someone that never played.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Oh, you have no idea. I grew up. That was
- 1:00Speaker 1: the thing my dad and I collected. So we had
- 1:02Speaker 1: like two hundred. So, I mean they gave him out
- 1:05Speaker 1: like candy back in the day. So we'd bring them
- 1:07Speaker 1: in and we'd have a little room for it. That
- 1:09Speaker 1: room has been it's been destroyed. It doesn't exist anymore.
- 1:13Speaker 1: So I bring them with me everywhere. The question is
- 1:18Speaker 1: the last Pittsburgh Pirates player to win that award? I mean,
- 1:22Speaker 1: it's not one award, it's there's many given out each year.
- 1:25Speaker 2: It's got to be McCutcheon.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I would think it's McCutcheon in twenty fifteen. I just
- 1:30Speaker 1: you know, I was reading something on the Pirates offense
- 1:32Speaker 1: and now it's been really good, and I've been trying
- 1:34Speaker 1: to mention that that's not the problem. The bullpen is,
- 1:37Speaker 1: which will maybe get to later in the show. Their
- 1:39Speaker 1: bullpen fell apart again last year yesterday. Yeah, that's fair,
- 1:44Speaker 1: but still, I mean you give up what is it,
- 1:47Speaker 1: six runs with two outs in the eighth. I mean,
- 1:49Speaker 1: that was definitely a Sarah Lang's wee momentum swing for Houston.
- 1:53Speaker 1: But it's been a long time, aj I mean, that's
- 1:55Speaker 1: over a decade since they've had a silver slugger on
- 1:58Speaker 1: the team, and they've got some candidate. It's this year,
- 2:01Speaker 1: O'Neil Cruz is in the running. I think Ryan definitely,
- 2:05Speaker 1: Brandon for sure, Yes, that they can swing the bats
- 2:08Speaker 1: this year.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Trying to think n L second baseman. Who else would
- 2:10Speaker 3: be in it? Nico Horner, Oh, could tell stuff one
- 2:14Speaker 3: to be especially the way he's been going last couple
- 2:16Speaker 3: of weeks.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I forgot.
- 2:18Speaker 1: That's a tough one.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Tatis. He's got one homer.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not winning it. He's got a good on base,
- 2:25Speaker 1: but he's not winning it. He's not obviously showing the pop.
- 2:27Speaker 1: So just a little trivia question. I was just reading
- 2:29Speaker 1: some articles about the pirates and their offense and was
- 2:32Speaker 1: impressed with how they were able to kind of fix
- 2:34Speaker 1: that over the last year. That was good. That was good,
- 2:39Speaker 1: and we did not talk about that prior. Yeah, right now,
- 2:42Speaker 1: you're a trivia machine. Okay, let's get to some other
- 2:45Speaker 1: stats that stood out from last night with charge dealer's choice.
- 2:53Speaker 1: You want to start with Otani or Sanchez.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I think the bigger story of Sinchz finally gave up
- 2:59Speaker 3: a run. I mean, it had been what fifty innings
- 3:02Speaker 3: since he'd given up a run or some crazy number.
- 3:04Speaker 3: That's insane. I know, I can't believe the orl Hirscheizer.
- 3:07Speaker 3: I love oral, but fifteen. What do you go fifty
- 3:09Speaker 3: nine innings without giving up a run? That's crazy? And
- 3:13Speaker 3: Christopher Sanchez to get to fifty I just don't know
- 3:16Speaker 3: how that's possible in today's world where everyone's trying to
- 3:20Speaker 3: hit a homer, you make one mistake and a guy
- 3:22Speaker 3: hits a homer off of you. He actually gave it
- 3:24Speaker 3: up the hard way too, a single, So tip my
- 3:27Speaker 3: cat to cap to Christopher Sanchez what he did. And
- 3:31Speaker 3: just an amazing run, man, I mean, and then Jackson
- 3:34Speaker 3: I think Jackson Merril was the guy who got the hit.
- 3:36Speaker 3: And that wasn't a bad pitch, I mean it was
- 3:38Speaker 3: it was a sinker going in on him and he
- 3:39Speaker 3: got inside of it and shot it to left. So
- 3:42Speaker 3: what a great run by Christopher Sanchez. You know what
- 3:44Speaker 3: was cool about that too? After he gave up the run,
- 3:47Speaker 3: the Philly fans gave him a standing ovation. How awesome
- 3:50Speaker 3: is that? I mean, the Philly fans knew was going on.
- 3:52Speaker 3: There was guys in padres hats clapping. Everybody in Philly
- 3:55Speaker 3: stood up and gave him an ovation. It was well deserved.
- 3:58Speaker 3: What a run, Christopher Sanchez. That's why I picked him
- 4:00Speaker 3: to win the Young before the year.
- 4:02Speaker 1: It's a good pick right now. Yeah, seventh inning, two outs,
- 4:07Speaker 1: otherwise he gets one more out. We're still talking about
- 4:11Speaker 1: this dude.
- 4:13Speaker 3: That swing by Jackson Merrill was like, I mean, he
- 4:15Speaker 3: was like through that thing. The left.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Easily could have been a third out and then we'd
- 4:23Speaker 1: be talking about Sanchez heading into a next start. It
- 4:26Speaker 1: still would have taken him two starts to get to
- 4:29Speaker 1: Oral Hrchieser well, unless I guess he went nine, but
- 4:33Speaker 1: he was at Yeah, he finishes this streak at fifty
- 4:37Speaker 1: and two thirds. Ferchis are the all time record fifty
- 4:41Speaker 1: nine innings in nineteen eighty eight, number two on that
- 4:44Speaker 1: list on Drysdale in nineteen sixty eight with fifty eight innings.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Oral Is early beat it. You remember ol Do you remember Orls.
- 4:53Speaker 3: There was a weird play in San Francisco where they
- 4:55Speaker 3: called interference on like a slide or something where the
- 4:59Speaker 3: Giants scored a run in kept it alive for him
- 5:01Speaker 3: to break the record. There was some funky thing that
- 5:04Speaker 3: happened with him.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I gotta look back. Actually, it's a good question. We
- 5:07Speaker 1: should note it and send it off to our Dodgers team.
- 5:10Speaker 1: The Dodgers' Territory show coming up after our show, we'll
- 5:13Speaker 1: have Oral hirsch Eiser talking about this.
- 5:15Speaker 3: So you think he was rooting for Christopher Sanchez or
- 5:18Speaker 3: rooting to keep the record publicly.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I know he's talked about this during the run and
- 5:24Speaker 1: said that he was rooting for it and for the record.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I don't know how.
- 5:31Speaker 3: There's a public thing you have to say, yeah, you
- 5:33Speaker 3: have to say it, and then but in your mind
- 5:36Speaker 3: you're like, man, I don't really want that record broken, right,
- 5:39Speaker 3: Like I remember I told the story Bobby Jenks at
- 5:41Speaker 3: one time had the most consecutive batters retired in a
- 5:45Speaker 3: row in the American League, and then Burley broke it
- 5:47Speaker 3: after his perfect game, and the next start he went
- 5:49Speaker 3: like five or six more perfect innings, and so he
- 5:52Speaker 3: actually broke it, and Bobby was on the team and
- 5:54Speaker 3: we knew how much that meant to Bobby, and Bobby
- 5:57Speaker 3: was in the bullpen and the metro, and when he
- 5:58Speaker 3: broke it, I went out to the mountain. I was
- 6:00Speaker 3: we were kind of looking at Bobby because we both
- 6:02Speaker 3: knew that he had broken his record, and he was like, oh,
- 6:06Speaker 3: you know, because I mean, he was happy. He was
- 6:08Speaker 3: like he like clapped and then he was like, oh, man,
- 6:11Speaker 3: so I mean there's there's a little bit of you.
- 6:13Speaker 3: It's like it's like Wayne Gretzky, right. I talked to
- 6:15Speaker 3: Wayne Gretzky when Ovechkin was going to break his record,
- 6:17Speaker 3: and I said, what do you think about this? And
- 6:19Speaker 3: he's he said, hey, you know, records are made to
- 6:22Speaker 3: be broken. But I'm like, yeah, but that was your record.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Wayne.
- 6:25Speaker 3: He's like, I know, but it's cool that someone's going
- 6:27Speaker 3: to get there and people are talking hockey. So I
- 6:29Speaker 3: don't know. I think there's there's the public side of it,
- 6:31Speaker 3: and then there's the personal side of We're like kind
- 6:33Speaker 3: of a little bit selfish. Said man, I don't want
- 6:35Speaker 3: anyone to touch this.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Kratz. I know you love dad jokes. This is not
- 6:40Speaker 1: a joke. Ridge's five and one travel power bank is
- 6:43Speaker 1: the answer to all of your messy wires all over
- 6:46Speaker 1: the place issues.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent. I don't need more tube socks.
- 6:50Speaker 4: I need this because somebody is going to use my
- 6:53Speaker 4: phone that I fully charged and then dies halfway through
- 6:56Speaker 4: the softball game that I go to. So this will
- 6:58Speaker 4: lock it in and my ran next to me who
- 7:00Speaker 4: forgot to charge his phone.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Ridge makes life better. They revolutionize the wallet right now.
- 7:06Speaker 1: They're doing it with a portable charger. It solves all
- 7:10Speaker 1: of your issues. So many elite features smag safe wireless charging,
- 7:14Speaker 1: Apple Watch charger, Lightning, USBC, every way you need to charge,

- 7:24Speaker 1: get up to forty percent off during Ridge's huge Father's

- 7:34Speaker 1: you purchase the last where you heard about them. Please
- 7:36Speaker 1: support our show and tell them we sent you. Yeah
- 7:39Speaker 1: for me, this is the majority of thoughts. Some people
- 7:42Speaker 1: are going to be outliers one way or another, but
- 7:44Speaker 1: the majority of internal thoughts are this, I want to
- 7:47Speaker 1: hold the record, and I want people to try and
- 7:51Speaker 1: get as close as possible to the record, because then
- 7:54Speaker 1: it's a thing. Then I'm a thing again. Remember the Dolphins, right,
- 7:57Speaker 1: the undefeated Dolphins have had that thing going the undefeated season,
- 8:02Speaker 1: whatever year that was, they'd always bring it up and
- 8:04Speaker 1: have publicity around it in seventy two. So any streak
- 8:08Speaker 1: like that, for the most part, keeps relevancy, and most
- 8:12Speaker 1: people want to be remembered. That's just part of why
- 8:15Speaker 1: you play the game. Right on the individual stats, that's
- 8:17Speaker 1: the thing. And if you're a gamer competitor, these are
- 8:19Speaker 1: the best players in the world, then yeah, you want
- 8:22Speaker 1: to be the best, and being the best means having
- 8:24Speaker 1: some of these records and shrieks. So for the most part,
- 8:26Speaker 1: I will say, yes, I do not believe people when
- 8:29Speaker 1: they want their own records to be broken. Maybe if
- 8:32Speaker 1: you have like twenty of them and this one's not
- 8:33Speaker 1: as big of a deal, that's fine, But this one's
- 8:35Speaker 1: pretty important. Yeah, we have a tweet we can show
- 8:38Speaker 1: before we get to show heo Tani, there's John Clark
- 8:44Speaker 1: talking about Christopher Sanchez. Put a full screen because I
- 8:48Speaker 1: got to look at the I got to look a
- 8:50Speaker 1: little closer. If I can just be able to see
- 8:53Speaker 1: you need me to read it for you, Scott, I
- 8:56Speaker 1: might need you to read it for me. Yeah, I
- 8:58Speaker 1: don't have my ass Okay, can you read that one?
- 9:01Speaker 1: I can read that one. Yeah, I'm going to me
- 9:03Speaker 1: a little bit. You or me go ahead. Okay, now,
- 9:06Speaker 1: I got it. I got it. I'm going to need
- 9:08Speaker 1: a little bit of time to embrace this and acknowledge
- 9:10Speaker 1: that it happened. As of right now, I still can't
- 9:13Speaker 1: believe it did. I think once the season is over
- 9:17Speaker 1: and I'm home and I'm with my family, maybe I
- 9:19Speaker 1: can start to actually think about what happened here. Christopher
- 9:21Speaker 1: Sanchez quote. That was the quote on going fifty to
- 9:25Speaker 1: two thirds without giving up a run, longest streak in
- 9:27Speaker 1: history by a left handed pitcher. And I will put
- 9:30Speaker 1: the caveat I think some notes were saying since eighteen
- 9:34Speaker 1: ninety three just in case, so I don't know if
- 9:36Speaker 1: they can cover before that. But like on MLBUW dot
- 9:39Speaker 1: com when I was watching the highlights this morning, it
- 9:41Speaker 1: put on the bottom since back to eighteen ninety three,
- 9:45Speaker 1: So I don't know what happened before then. I don't know.
- 9:47Speaker 3: But they didn't have TV. That's why they didn't have
- 9:50Speaker 3: a lot of things. They didn't have the Foul Territory Network.
- 9:52Speaker 1: That's why no, they were amputating arms if it hurt. So, yeah,
- 9:57Speaker 1: we're good. Congrats to Sanchez get some awesome Yeah, and
- 10:02Speaker 1: the Phillies win too. When they're able to get past
- 10:05Speaker 1: Otani or sorry, they're able to get past the Padres,
- 10:07Speaker 1: which helps Otani. The Padres are zero and five against
- 10:10Speaker 1: the Phillies this year, including two losses to Sanchez. Jason
- 10:14Speaker 1: Adam gave up a couple of homers. Swarber hit another homer.
- 10:16Speaker 1: So Philly's playing well with Sanchez and.
- 10:19Speaker 3: For the Padres for real? Before we get to what
- 10:22Speaker 3: do you think the Padres are for real or not?
- 10:23Speaker 3: Because it's like you look at him and they're there
- 10:26Speaker 3: are four games over five hundred, there's seven games behind
- 10:29Speaker 3: the dot. But it's like, I don't Are they fools?
- 10:31Speaker 3: Gold Scott? That's what I was right now. I wonder
- 10:34Speaker 3: about the Padres. Are they good enough with Bachada who's
- 10:37Speaker 3: not hitting tatis obviously isn't hitting homers. The rest of
- 10:40Speaker 3: that lineup's not doing a ton?
- 10:43Speaker 2: Are they? Are they fools?
- 10:44Speaker 3: Gold right now?
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yeah? Their best hitters are Miguel and Dujar Gavin Sheets
- 10:50Speaker 1: and I'm missing one. She would be in their top three,
- 10:55Speaker 1: but holy Sheets, to me, that would be a good thing.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Do you think that we're going to go the entire
- 11:01Speaker 1: year and Mannay Machado's numbers are going to look that.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Jackson Merril's numbers are going to look like that, and
- 11:05Speaker 1: Tatis is gonna look like that. The law of averages
- 11:08Speaker 1: that the number sixty games in sixty week also, but
- 11:12Speaker 1: we rarely see that from three guys who have track record.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I know Meryl's kind of young, but I just for me,
- 11:18Speaker 1: I think they'll play better. And so that helps to say, Okay,
- 11:22Speaker 1: with all the issues they have, they still are four
- 11:24Speaker 1: games above five hundred. I consider that just as much
- 11:27Speaker 1: of a good thing. The bullpen's really solid, so that's
- 11:29Speaker 1: going to help you keep yourself in games and win
- 11:32Speaker 1: close games. We've seen that already. And then on the
- 11:34Speaker 1: starting pitching side, AJ, it's Michael King, it's Randy Vazquez.
- 11:39Speaker 1: And then they're just mixing and matching, piecing it together
- 11:42Speaker 1: while they wait for guys like Paveta and Musgrove to
- 11:44Speaker 1: hopefully get healthy. So I think they're for real. I
- 11:48Speaker 1: think they're a world or not a world, say a
- 11:50Speaker 1: wild card contender. I think they can make a postseason
- 11:53Speaker 1: again this year. So I like them. And AJ Prelor
- 11:57Speaker 1: is a gun at guy. He's an all in guy.
- 11:59Speaker 1: He's going to try and win trades at the deadline.
- 12:01Speaker 1: There are a lot of teams that get scared. My
- 12:03Speaker 1: big push this year for the deadline is I want
- 12:05Speaker 1: teams like the Brewers, Rais and Guardians to do something
- 12:09Speaker 1: that they wouldn't usually do too, because yeah, it's the
- 12:13Speaker 1: trade deadline for the most part. Yeah, you're gonna take
- 12:15Speaker 1: on a little bit extra money, but it's nothing that
- 12:17Speaker 1: no team can take on, right No, no players making
- 12:20Speaker 1: enough in the second half. I mean maybe Boba Schett
- 12:22Speaker 1: if you're trying to trade for someone like that, but otherwise,
- 12:24Speaker 1: even Schooble, any team that's good is making the gate
- 12:28Speaker 1: back easily on ten million dollars of school and most
- 12:30Speaker 1: of these trade acquisitions are less than that. So my
- 12:33Speaker 1: whole thing that I'm pushing here aja is I want
- 12:36Speaker 1: to see one of those teams do something because it
- 12:37Speaker 1: costs you prospects. That's what it costs you when you
- 12:39Speaker 1: do these kind of trades.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, agreed, I wish they would. We'll see when
- 12:45Speaker 3: the Guardians would be the perfect example. The Guardians.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Gavin Williams beat Garrett Cole last night that the Guardians
- 12:51Speaker 3: have won two games, last two games against the Yankees
- 12:53Speaker 3: right with and they've actually kind of won it offensively
- 12:56Speaker 3: and they beat to of their better guys. So I I, yeah,
- 12:59Speaker 3: the Guardians would be the right Now. I don't know
- 13:01Speaker 3: who they would go get, but another bat, another picture. Yeah,
- 13:04Speaker 3: the teams you named the Brewers go make that big move,
- 13:07Speaker 3: that big splashy move. Sure, but I just don't know.
- 13:10Speaker 3: These teams are so risk averse, and they're so scared
- 13:13Speaker 3: to lose a picture or player prospect that could become something.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Then they're just scared to make trades. We kind of
- 13:18Speaker 3: hit on it yesterday.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Yeah, to me that that part of the game needs
- 13:22Speaker 1: to get expedited where I mean, you can't force trades,
- 13:26Speaker 1: but you just you want teams to get to a
- 13:28Speaker 1: little more aggression. Now, let's talk o tany what is
- 13:33Speaker 1: going on.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I feel like we talk about him. I feel like
- 13:37Speaker 2: we talk about him every day.
- 13:38Speaker 1: So a lot of people feel that way, but you
- 13:41Speaker 1: think about it. Yeah, like, look what he did last night,
- 13:45Speaker 1: the Greatest Show on Earth. Here's the tweet from Bob
- 13:48Speaker 1: Knightingale six shutout innings. He reached base five times, three hits,
- 13:51Speaker 1: two walks, only the fourth player in MLB history to
- 13:54Speaker 1: achieve both feats on the same night. Per Sarah Lanx,
- 13:58Speaker 1: Dodgers obviously took down the Diamond acts pretty easily, while
- 14:01Speaker 1: Otani shoved and has an seven to four RRA. This
- 14:05Speaker 1: guy is determined to He's a bucket list guy. He
- 14:09Speaker 1: wants the world series title, he wants MVPs. He doesn't
- 14:12Speaker 1: have a cy young and you can see how badly
- 14:14Speaker 1: he wants it. He's even doing like the what was
- 14:16Speaker 1: it on the curve ball that he hung for not
- 14:19Speaker 1: hung that he dropped in for strike three against someone
- 14:21Speaker 1: he like, he was doing like the thumbs up kind
- 14:24Speaker 1: of to himself, which is for me the kind of
- 14:26Speaker 1: maximum you'll get from Otani in most cases. I know
- 14:29Speaker 1: he's had a few big moments, but you know he
- 14:31Speaker 1: tries to be very respectful. But even he is like
- 14:33Speaker 1: so excited that he's putting the thumbs up for himself.
- 14:36Speaker 1: What are you seeing?
- 14:38Speaker 2: Just nasty stuff. And he's pitching.
- 14:40Speaker 3: He's pitching what once every week ish, sixth day, seven
- 14:44Speaker 3: day whatever. You know, they're protecting him. Listen, he's got
- 14:47Speaker 3: unbelievable stuff. He's always had unbelievable stuff. The question is
- 14:50Speaker 3: is how much of the Dodger's gonna protect him. He's
- 14:52Speaker 3: coming off an arm injury where he didn't pitch hardly
- 14:54Speaker 3: at all last year other than a bunch of simulated games.
- 14:57Speaker 3: How many innings will they allow him to go? Because
- 14:58Speaker 3: you know these pitching limits, and that's the one advantage
- 15:01Speaker 3: I think Christopher Sanchez has. He leads the league an
- 15:04Speaker 3: innings pitched, that's the big thing, and the strikeouts are high.
- 15:08Speaker 3: He has obviously not given up any runs, so I
- 15:10Speaker 3: just feel like that's the one thing where show Hay's
- 15:13Speaker 3: gonna get dinged. I know he doesn't give up hits.
- 15:15Speaker 3: He's only given up five n runs in his starts. Yes,
- 15:17Speaker 3: he also hits, but I just think Christopher Sanchez, because
- 15:21Speaker 3: he's gonna add up so many more numbers than show Hey,
- 15:25Speaker 3: I think that's where his advantage lies.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it's easier for him to win MVPs. It's the
- 15:29Speaker 1: truth because of the innings and also because of what
- 15:32Speaker 1: the rest of the National League looks.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Okay, I does if he makes all his starts, he's
- 15:35Speaker 3: gonna barely get to one hundred and fifty innings.
- 15:37Speaker 2: He goes six innings almost every start.
- 15:39Speaker 3: It's six six sixty six, six sixty six every single start, right,
- 15:43Speaker 3: So if he had thirty starts, which we know he's
- 15:45Speaker 3: not gonna get right, that'd be one hundred and eighty
- 15:48Speaker 3: twenty five he gets to one hundred and fifty innings.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Right now, he's at sixty one innings in what ten starts,
- 15:53Speaker 3: so he's gone over the six innings one time. So
- 15:56Speaker 3: let's say he gets twenty five starts, that puts him
- 15:58Speaker 3: in one hundred and fifty innings. I just don't know
- 16:00Speaker 3: that that's enough. I just don't know that's enough. If
- 16:03Speaker 3: you have Sanchez go two hundred and ten and has
- 16:05Speaker 3: a one point three e RA with all the other
- 16:08Speaker 3: numbers that are cumulative that he can add up, I
- 16:11Speaker 3: just don't know. It's gonna be fascinating to see how
- 16:13Speaker 3: voters vote on this one. Plus, then if Otani, when
- 16:16Speaker 3: did you get rid of the east coast bias? Everyone
- 16:17Speaker 3: says east coast bias? Will Philly's on the east, Otani's
- 16:20Speaker 3: on the west, so that would be something to also
- 16:22Speaker 3: check for.
- 16:23Speaker 1: And Missus in the Central.
- 16:26Speaker 2: And we don't even talk about him, yep, And.
- 16:29Speaker 1: He's in there too, Kyle Harrison's in there. So this
- 16:31Speaker 1: is good. We're only a third of the way through.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Some of these guys will fall off and have clunkers.
- 16:35Speaker 1: But uh, the slash line against Otani's one forty four
- 16:39Speaker 1: two twenty four to two eleven. That's worse than like
- 16:41Speaker 1: when hitters when pitchers were hitting. So that's how good
- 16:44Speaker 1: he's been. All Right, A little quickie injury sucks. Segmue'll
- 16:52Speaker 1: just hit a couple and then we're gonna talk CBA
- 16:55Speaker 1: with Jesse Rodgers will also get to some cubs in
- 16:57Speaker 1: white Sox with him. But let's start with Corbyn Burr
- 17:00Speaker 1: as this sucks setback for him. He goes down with
- 17:04Speaker 1: a lat strain. I think someone else was put in,
- 17:07Speaker 1: like Terry's major blah blah blah whatever. I mean, he's
- 17:10Speaker 1: going to be out for a couple more months versus
- 17:13Speaker 1: what he was expected to be July. So now we're
- 17:17Speaker 1: going into September, and as you know, once you start
- 17:20Speaker 1: going into September, you start getting into a timeline against
- 17:25Speaker 1: the edge of the season. Plus for the Diamondbacks in general,
- 17:28Speaker 1: I mean they're a wild card contender, they would have
- 17:32Speaker 1: really benefited from him coming back in July. This is
- 17:36Speaker 1: huge news that he's not going to be back until September.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Yes, and yeah, it hurts the Diamondbacks a line. Also,
- 17:43Speaker 3: I think they just option Brandon fought to triple a too,
- 17:45Speaker 3: so that's another guy they were counting on. It's not
- 17:49Speaker 3: going to be there. But yeah, listen, Corbyn Burns, if
- 17:51Speaker 3: he were to come back in July, it would first
- 17:53Speaker 3: of all have been awesome for him personally, but also
- 17:56Speaker 3: for the Diamondbacks. So to not have him come back
- 17:59Speaker 3: is a big deal. I don't know if it's just
- 18:02Speaker 3: I don't know they I don't know were they really
- 18:04Speaker 3: counting on him though, because you never you know, sometimes
- 18:06Speaker 3: guys come back from Tommy John and it takes him
- 18:09Speaker 3: a while, and those first couple of starts ain't that
- 18:11Speaker 3: good anyway. So and again corn Birds could have been different.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Proven me wrong. But I just take your time and
- 18:19Speaker 3: be back. I don't know if they were counting on
- 18:20Speaker 3: him this year, but any starts he gives them will
- 18:22Speaker 3: be a bonus at this point.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but this was a different injury. And what if
- 18:26Speaker 1: he came back and looked like Garrett Cole for the
- 18:29Speaker 1: most part and help the team get.
- 18:31Speaker 2: But Garrett Cole, how long was Garrett Cole out?
- 18:33Speaker 1: Oh? Long? You're right, it was a longer period of time.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Every injury is a little different though too, depending on
- 18:38Speaker 1: the surgery and how much they did. But to me,
- 18:40Speaker 1: it's not It's not like they were like, hey, he
- 18:42Speaker 1: needs more time on the elbow, like now he's got
- 18:43Speaker 1: a different injury that he's rolling with.
- 18:46Speaker 3: So I'm all injury sucked. But for stars, when they
- 18:50Speaker 3: go down, they really suck for some reason.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yeah, for the Diamondbacks, you're looking at them and you're thinking, hey,
- 18:55Speaker 1: this team could make the playoffs and then they could
- 18:58Speaker 1: be dangerous. They would.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it goes back to my question earlier, or the
- 19:03Speaker 3: Padres real or the Diamondbacks real. No one's going to
- 19:08Speaker 3: challenge the Dodgers, clearly it doesn't look like, but which
- 19:10Speaker 3: one of them can challenge for that last kind of
- 19:12Speaker 3: wildcard spot?
- 19:14Speaker 1: And for the Diamondbacks, I think Puck is almost there
- 19:17Speaker 1: and then justin Martinez, so they'll get a boost to
- 19:20Speaker 1: a bullpen that's actually kind of found itself lately Sea
- 19:25Speaker 1: Wall it's been awesome. We got to get him back
- 19:27Speaker 1: on soon. So they've got three four guys at Ginkle's
- 19:29Speaker 1: back on track. They've got some guys that are looking
- 19:31Speaker 1: good in that bullpen, and then if you add two
- 19:33Speaker 1: fireballers that are coming back. It starts to look like
- 19:36Speaker 1: a strength. That's why for me, I'm just like, damn,
- 19:39Speaker 1: it's been a minute. We know how good Corbin Burns
- 19:41Speaker 1: can be and can be a difference maker for this team.
- 19:43Speaker 1: They've got offense. They would add at the trade deadline,
- 19:45Speaker 1: Mike Hasn's a wheeler and dealer, so we'll see and
- 19:49Speaker 1: Judge just to give you a little bit more, we
- 19:52Speaker 1: can give you the Brandon Cootie update. We can run
- 19:55Speaker 1: both tweets if we have it. Boone said, Yankee slash
- 20:02Speaker 1: doctors want to quote just want to get some more
- 20:05Speaker 1: specific spots with quote more high power, more specific imaging
- 20:11Speaker 1: of judges rib bone bruise. That doesn't sound great. And
- 20:14Speaker 1: then Brendan further tweeted could it be gleaned? There's added
- 20:18Speaker 1: worry with Judge going for more imaging after imaging Monday,
- 20:21Speaker 1: seeing the Yankees doctor Tuesday and a specialist Wednesday. Boone quote,
- 20:25Speaker 1: I don't want to speak out of turn, don't know
- 20:27Speaker 1: that yet. Yankees want a really strong diagnosis, according to Boone,
- 20:33Speaker 1: sounds complicated.
- 20:35Speaker 3: It does, and anytime it's weird because again I don't
- 20:38Speaker 3: know exactly where this spot is because no one's really
- 20:40Speaker 3: I haven't really seen where it is.
- 20:42Speaker 2: But you start getting up up.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Into this rib area up in here, it gets funky
- 20:47Speaker 3: man because there's you know, you can have a cracked rib,
- 20:50Speaker 3: you can have all kinds of weird things. They can
- 20:51Speaker 3: say broom bone, bruise, but it could also be like
- 20:54Speaker 3: a you know, a cracked rib or something. That's why
- 20:56Speaker 3: they're going in there with specific imaging. And by the way,
- 20:59Speaker 3: I've I've had a hard time fitting in MRI machines.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I can't imagine it's easy to find them when the
- 21:04Speaker 3: fits Aaron Judge.
- 21:05Speaker 1: That's a good point. It might be like complicated. This
- 21:08Speaker 1: week we're looking for the jumbo MRI for it.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I went in a couple. I went in I don't know,
- 21:13Speaker 2: a couple of years ago.
- 21:13Speaker 3: I had some stuff going on in my back and
- 21:16Speaker 3: I went to the MRI machine and they put me
- 21:18Speaker 3: in one of the older ones and you have to
- 21:20Speaker 3: cross your arms and and don't move for like, and
- 21:23Speaker 3: I couldn't even I couldn't get into the machine because
- 21:26Speaker 3: it was so skinny. And I'm and she's like, is
- 21:28Speaker 3: it comfortable, And I'm like no. She has a little
- 21:31Speaker 3: button you pressed, and I'm like, she's like, what's wrong.
- 21:34Speaker 3: I'm like, come look at me, and she's like, Oh,
- 21:35Speaker 3: that's gonna be awful. I'm like, there's no way I
- 21:37Speaker 3: can do this, and so stay. And then I went
- 21:39Speaker 3: to like a newer one and I normally just fall
- 21:41Speaker 3: asleep in them, but no way. I was like, there's
- 21:44Speaker 3: no way. My hands were touching the top of the
- 21:46Speaker 3: machine and the machine's like right here on your face,
- 21:49Speaker 3: so I mean my hands were touching.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I was like, help, please, do you have cast your phbe?
- 21:54Speaker 3: Yeah, don't get hurt, and I don't have that.
- 21:59Speaker 2: I don't of them.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I'm with you for the Yankees, if they do misjudge
- 22:05Speaker 1: for a long period of time, do you think there's
- 22:07Speaker 1: any concerns that they could fall off? I mean, they
- 22:09Speaker 1: always look so different without him, and he always merits
- 22:13Speaker 1: his MVP when he does miss a little bit of
- 22:15Speaker 1: time here and there. It hasn't happened often, but and
- 22:17Speaker 1: you look at the team and you're like, wow, the
- 22:19Speaker 1: lineup looks so different. I mean, they've got star power
- 22:21Speaker 1: there besides him.
- 22:22Speaker 2: A nice start.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean benight obviously, Yeah, I think they'll be okay.
- 22:31Speaker 3: I think because the American League is so down. But
- 22:33Speaker 3: anytime you have coal free that that whole crew running
- 22:35Speaker 3: out there, Slitler, you know, rod On, It's it's a
- 22:39Speaker 3: different animal with the Yankees. So I think they'll be
- 22:42Speaker 3: okay as long as they tread water, as long as
- 22:44Speaker 3: they don't go like two and twenty. Wi's out right.
- 22:47Speaker 3: I mean, if they hold five hundred, they'll be fine.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Yeah. They have the pitching too like that. There's I
- 22:53Speaker 1: think more support staff than there has been in the
- 22:56Speaker 1: past in the lineup with the starting staff, and this
- 23:00Speaker 1: team's built some pretty good depth. They know what they
- 23:02Speaker 1: have to do with the deadline, with getting another reliever
- 23:04Speaker 1: arm or two that's always going to be available once
- 23:06Speaker 1: you get to August third. Did you know that? By
- 23:08Speaker 1: the way, I mentioned that today on Ken Show. I
- 23:10Speaker 1: mean technically, some teams go down to the wire to
- 23:13Speaker 1: decide what they're going to do if they feel like
- 23:15Speaker 1: they're in the five hundred range and they don't know
- 23:17Speaker 1: if they're going to make it, and so that means
- 23:19Speaker 1: that other teams that are buying are waiting for that
- 23:21Speaker 1: to happen. This creates your storm of working up against
- 23:24Speaker 1: the deadline, and most of the moves happening within those
- 23:26Speaker 1: last few days the deadlines, I think later than ever.
- 23:30Speaker 1: It's August third. I know it's only another half a week,
- 23:33Speaker 1: but it's a few more games for teams to evaluate
- 23:35Speaker 1: themselves in a few less games until you get to
- 23:37Speaker 1: the end of the season. So I know it's not
- 23:40Speaker 1: hugely significant. But you know, some people were saying, oh,
- 23:43Speaker 1: July thirty first, I'm like, no, this year, July thirty
- 23:45Speaker 1: first is on a Friday. They don't want to do
- 23:46Speaker 1: a Friday trade deadline, so they bumped it up to Monday,
- 23:50Speaker 1: or bumped it back to Monday, so it's like three
- 23:55Speaker 1: four days later. Oh.
- 23:57Speaker 3: I actually wish it was kind of I mean, I
- 23:59Speaker 3: know there's only one trade dea line, there's no waiver deadline,
- 24:01Speaker 3: and I actually kind of wish it was a little
- 24:02Speaker 3: bit sooner because you could get more time with the
- 24:05Speaker 3: players you trade for instead of just two months. And
- 24:08Speaker 3: I also wish we had another deadline. I know people
- 24:11Speaker 3: are against it because players have to move and YadA, YadA, YadA,
- 24:14Speaker 3: but I kind of like it because if someone goes
- 24:16Speaker 3: down after July, you had that extra month to kind
- 24:19Speaker 3: of pick somebody up and they could still be eligible
- 24:21Speaker 3: now someone's got a clear waivers and ya. I like
- 24:25Speaker 3: the way you could still figure out a way to
- 24:27Speaker 3: add if you could, if you found the right person.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Oh, I hate the way it is now. I wish
- 24:32Speaker 1: we had too again because it also just keeps the
- 24:34Speaker 1: conversation going. It's fun to talk trades through July or
- 24:37Speaker 1: through August. August gets slow sometimes in terms of the conversations,
- 24:41Speaker 1: so I would have loved to have that continue. They
- 24:44Speaker 1: got rid of it though. Al MVP futures. Let's give
- 24:54Speaker 1: you a little look at what's going on there right now.
- 24:58Speaker 1: First of all, we'll show you the trends. Then we'll
- 24:59Speaker 1: show you what the leader board looks like, so you
- 25:01Speaker 1: can see where BETTAMGM thinks the money is the highest ticket.
- 25:06Speaker 1: In terms of how many people have placed on al MVP,
- 25:09Speaker 1: Bobby Witt Junior the highest handle, so that means the
- 25:14Speaker 1: most money spent on the al MVP has gone towards
- 25:17Speaker 1: Julio Rodriguez, which makes him the biggest liability, as in
- 25:20Speaker 1: BETAMGM loses the most if Julio Rodriguez wins. And the
- 25:23Speaker 1: odds leader is Aaron Judge who was in minus territory
- 25:28Speaker 1: but now he's at plus one ten. With this injury looming,
- 25:30Speaker 1: and the longer it goes, the more it'll kind of
- 25:33Speaker 1: start to weigh him back towards the rest of the pack. Here, AJ,
- 25:35Speaker 1: So let's look at the ALMVP futures. This is the
- 25:38Speaker 1: top five right now. Aaron Judge plus one ten, Bobby
- 25:41Speaker 1: wit plus three hundred, who are on Avaez plus three twenty,
- 25:45Speaker 1: Ben Rice plus one thousand, Nick Kurtz plus twelve hundred.
- 25:48Speaker 1: So that's currently where BETMGM thinks that the or the
- 25:52Speaker 1: al MVP race is going. Any thoughts on the al
- 25:55Speaker 1: MVP race. We haven't covered it much.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Because it's usually Jared Judge and everyone else, Bobby Wade.
- 26:01Speaker 3: It's just he's doing great, but their team is so
- 26:04Speaker 3: bad it's hard for me to give him. I mean,
- 26:06Speaker 3: he's he's great. But here's a name for you. Jose Ramirez.
- 26:10Speaker 3: He started to swing it. He's stealing. He might lead
- 26:12Speaker 3: a league in soul and bases. He's started to swing it.
- 26:14Speaker 3: And another interesting name is I look over some of
- 26:16Speaker 3: these lists, he'll never win it, but Junior Camonaro is
- 26:19Speaker 3: it can be put as a name. And then Shaye
- 26:21Speaker 3: lang Leers I know, Nick Nick Kurtz but Shae langleiers
- 26:25Speaker 3: out there are the ones. Uh Man that's wide open
- 26:29Speaker 3: this year for the first time in a long time,
- 26:30Speaker 3: depending on how long Aaron judges out, this is the
- 26:32Speaker 3: first time in a long time I can remember being
- 26:34Speaker 3: this wide open.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure Judge could come back and go on
- 26:38Speaker 1: a tear and then kind of wipe this out again.
- 26:41Speaker 1: But we've spoken just much more about NL Awards. I
- 26:44Speaker 1: think part of.
- 26:44Speaker 2: That because it's tougher.
- 26:46Speaker 3: It's tougher what there's there's almost more options for NL
- 26:50Speaker 3: Sai Young right, the l MVP.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Right now, nobody has stood out.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Nobody's at a point where you're like, whoa, They're just
- 26:56Speaker 3: kicking everyone's ass in this race and and and nobody
- 27:00Speaker 3: can catch him. It's it's not like that. Even Alcy Young,
- 27:03Speaker 3: I think you can look at and say, who's going
- 27:04Speaker 3: to win the ALSA Young I have.
- 27:06Speaker 1: No idea, dude. There's some candidates right now that you
- 27:10Speaker 1: would never expect heading into the season. Parker Messick is
- 27:13Speaker 1: on that list, Davis Marcus Martin.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Right, yeah, there's a bunch of guys.
- 27:17Speaker 3: You'd say, what who, But yeah, there's so many guys
- 27:20Speaker 3: because no one is because with scooball out for so long,
- 27:22Speaker 3: and now Judge long is he's not Listen, Judge is
- 27:25Speaker 3: doing okay, but he's not having the year that we're
- 27:27Speaker 3: used to Aaron Judge having, right, I mean, you could
- 27:30Speaker 3: throw Ben Rice in there. Ben Rice might be more
- 27:32Speaker 3: valuable to the Yankees right now than Aaron Judge is
- 27:34Speaker 3: hard and as crazy as that is to say, But
- 27:38Speaker 3: there's open awards season in the American League. It is
- 27:40Speaker 3: open for business this year.
- 27:43Speaker 1: It is. And that's why depending on how you look
- 27:45Speaker 1: at things, I mean, you might be able to make
- 27:47Speaker 1: some money off that, you know, the other side, with Otani,
- 27:50Speaker 1: you're not making any money. I don't know what the
- 27:52Speaker 1: latest is. But minus a Ton, you're basically just banking
- 27:56Speaker 1: on if he gets hurt or not. That's all it is.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Otherwise it's our locked up, all right. Let's get to
- 28:02Speaker 1: the game that you can play and remind everyone the
- 28:04Speaker 1: Swing for the Fence's game is inside the bed MGM
- 28:06Speaker 1: app Swing for a daily Shot to win. If you
- 28:09Speaker 1: get a hit, you can score bonuses and boost tokens.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Check it out inside the app. Gambling problem were concerned
- 28:14Speaker 1: called one eight hundred gambler at a hawkcarned time. Let's
- 28:20Speaker 1: get to a few key topics here, and let's start
- 28:23Speaker 1: with the mini trade, but we didn't cover it the
- 28:25Speaker 1: other day. In terms of some turmoil for the Twins,
- 28:27Speaker 1: Bailey over went on the shelf and then they cut
- 28:29Speaker 1: Simmey and wood Richardson. They defade him, so they ended
- 28:32Speaker 1: up trading him to the Blue Jays. He used to
- 28:36Speaker 1: be a former Blue Jays top prospect sent to Minnesota
- 28:40Speaker 1: and Jose Burrios trade, so now he gets to reunite
- 28:42Speaker 1: with the team. He had some flashes, like he had
- 28:44Speaker 1: a few moments with the Twins where you were seeing it,
- 28:47Speaker 1: and then it seemed like the league figured him out
- 28:49Speaker 1: and he fell off.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Yeah, he's he's been intriguing at times. I feel like
- 28:54Speaker 3: you watch him and you're like, oh, this guy's got
- 28:56Speaker 3: good stuff, and then he'll have a start, right, Ah,
- 28:58Speaker 3: what happened? Or yeah, he hasn't been consistent. Maybe the
- 29:01Speaker 3: Blue Jays can figure something out. They obviously had him
- 29:03Speaker 3: before and liked him, brought him back. The blue Jays
- 29:07Speaker 3: need this much depth. I think Sures is going to
- 29:08Speaker 3: be back and forth too much. Longer ceases back I
- 29:11Speaker 3: think here pretty quickly. So Blue Jays need a guy
- 29:15Speaker 3: that bad.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Maybe, I mean, dude, they've lost a lot of guys
- 29:21Speaker 1: in a little bit of time, a lot, you know,
- 29:23Speaker 1: that's part of.
- 29:24Speaker 2: It, too. Agreed, Maybe they should have kept Eric Klauer.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Well, I was definitely on that train, right. You think
- 29:34Speaker 1: they traded the Dodgers. You didn't think he was going
- 29:36Speaker 1: to pitch well there.
- 29:38Speaker 3: But well, yeah, but he said some things. Listen, you
- 29:41Speaker 3: could say whatever you want about that one, but there
- 29:43Speaker 3: was there was at least a sliver of a reason
- 29:46Speaker 3: was because of what he said. Let's let's be honest.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Yep, that's fair.
- 29:50Speaker 3: It reminds me of Scott. This reminds you of Oh, watch,
- 29:52Speaker 3: we'll show him. We'll send him to the Dodgers. Two
- 29:54Speaker 3: thousand and nine, White Sox had Nick Swisher, and we
- 29:58Speaker 3: all know how Ozzie feels about Nick Swisher, and they're like, oh,
- 30:01Speaker 3: we're going to show him. We'll send him to the Yankees,
- 30:03Speaker 3: where he went out and won a World Series. Way
- 30:05Speaker 3: to go, guys. Because of running joke, Kerk would be like,
- 30:08Speaker 3: we really showed him.
- 30:08Speaker 2: We said him to the Yankees.
- 30:10Speaker 1: That is good. Yeah, that's that's the exact case here
- 30:13Speaker 1: with lower Oh, Yeah, we'll show him. You know, you
- 30:15Speaker 1: think they're sending him to like Colorado would be the spot,
- 30:18Speaker 1: not a contender, tough park to pitch in, and they
- 30:20Speaker 1: give him to the Dodgers.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:22Speaker 1: And the Dodgers didn't even really give up anything for
- 30:25Speaker 1: him either. I think it was just a money exchange
- 30:27Speaker 1: and you know there wasn't much. So all right, that's one.
- 30:32Speaker 1: What do we have next? Here, Let's show the tweet.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I'm out of order on my rundown. All right, here's
- 30:37Speaker 1: a look at Red Sox interim third base coach Chad
- 30:40Speaker 1: Epperson aka Eppie, going into the field of play while
- 30:43Speaker 1: waving a runner at home. Good screenshot here from Jacob
- 30:46Speaker 1: Calvin Meyer, who covers the Orioles. And you got to
- 30:49Speaker 1: see the play because it's it's pretty crazy, Like it's
- 30:51Speaker 1: not like he just blinked and did idriamginie and ended
- 30:54Speaker 1: up very much in the field of play, like he
- 30:57Speaker 1: just somehow like backs himself right right into the thick
- 31:00Speaker 1: of things a j and lucky enough kind of avoided everything.
- 31:03Speaker 1: But Craig albern As, the Orioles manager, said he'd never
- 31:07Speaker 1: seen that before. When asked about the play, he said
- 31:09Speaker 1: you can't be on the field and beat a position blair,
- 31:12Speaker 1: He said, an umpire told him if Boston third base
- 31:14Speaker 1: coach Chad Eperson stepped into fair territory a second time,
- 31:17Speaker 1: he would eject him from the game. I mean, you
- 31:20Speaker 1: would have been barking at that. You would have probably
- 31:22Speaker 1: never let that one go right. And here's one more.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Oh so I don't know that, Max Rulo online said,
- 31:28Speaker 1: I reached out to him ILB about this. Was told
- 31:30Speaker 1: there isn't an automatic penalty for a coach who moves
- 31:32Speaker 1: into fair territory. They could, however, be at risk of
- 31:34Speaker 1: being called for interference if the umpire determines they impacted
- 31:37Speaker 1: the defense's ability or the defense's ability to make a play.
- 31:42Speaker 1: He covers the red sox. Okay, cool. So there's the
- 31:45Speaker 1: conclusion of a very weird situation.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Never seen it. I've never seen this. And by the way,
- 31:51Speaker 3: I think Kobe Mayo was playing third. If I was him,
- 31:53Speaker 3: I would a truck sticktum. I would have run right.
- 31:56Speaker 3: I would have seen him, and I would have run
- 31:57Speaker 3: right into him and made the umpire make a decision.
- 32:00Speaker 3: I've never seen this. Why do we have a coaching box?
- 32:02Speaker 3: Remember the whole coaching. I know it's for tipping pitches,
- 32:04Speaker 3: but what I've never seen a guy and Joey Corra,
- 32:07Speaker 3: I played for Joey Korra for a long time. With
- 32:09Speaker 3: Joey Korra, he was all over the place, but I
- 32:11Speaker 3: never saw him run into field to play. I mean,
- 32:13Speaker 3: I mean, this just opens it up to dude's sticking. Dudes,
- 32:15Speaker 3: you can just run around on the field and do
- 32:17Speaker 3: all they want. It's crazy. I've never seen this. I
- 32:20Speaker 3: can't believe it. And I've known Eppie. I played against
- 32:23Speaker 3: Eppie in the minor leagues for years. I think I
- 32:25Speaker 3: played against Everson in high school Chad Epperson in high school,
- 32:29Speaker 3: so I've known him forever and I've never seen this.
- 32:32Speaker 2: But he got away with it.
- 32:33Speaker 3: So you know what, you test the elasticity of the rules.
- 32:36Speaker 3: You don't break them. You just test how bendable they are.
- 32:39Speaker 1: And he's trying to see the ball in the corner
- 32:41Speaker 1: there and left. But it's not like it's never been
- 32:43Speaker 1: there before.
- 32:44Speaker 3: I mean, I've never seen a coach on the field.
- 32:47Speaker 3: I've never seen a coach on the field during the play.
- 32:49Speaker 3: And again, if I'm Kobe, I think it was Kobe
- 32:51Speaker 3: Mayo playing third. If I see if I see that
- 32:53Speaker 3: out of the corner in my eye, I'm Boo and
- 32:55Speaker 3: I'm falling all over the place, and I'm making the
- 32:57Speaker 3: umpire do something because what what's the reasoning for him
- 33:02Speaker 3: being on the field.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Oh, you can easily do that even if you're not
- 33:05Speaker 1: close to the ball. Whatever. That was where my positioning
- 33:08Speaker 1: was going to be.
- 33:08Speaker 2: That's where I was supposed to go.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yeah, not even truck him, just well fake like he
- 33:15Speaker 3: trucked them and fall over and then the umpire makes
- 33:17Speaker 3: that and they might not be able to score the run.
- 33:18Speaker 3: They might have to send him back. I've never seen this.
- 33:20Speaker 3: I don't think we'll see it again. I think yep,
- 33:22Speaker 3: he's probably getting to talk to today by Breslo. No, does
- 33:25Speaker 3: he need a translator.
- 33:26Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 33:26Speaker 3: That's for other people to decide. Sorry too soon, but
- 33:30Speaker 3: he's probably getting to talk to by somebody today.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Yeah, your organic positioning within the whatever, we need you
- 33:39Speaker 1: to not be in the field.
- 33:41Speaker 3: I don't think they need that right now because I
- 33:43Speaker 3: think bo gave up six in the first so they
- 33:45Speaker 3: haven't scored a lot of runs today in Red Sox
- 33:48Speaker 3: Land it's actually seven nothing in the fifth, so he
- 33:50Speaker 3: hasn't had to go into the field yet today.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Yeah, tough times there for the socks right now, all right,
- 33:59Speaker 1: one more actually staying on the socks, this guy could
- 34:02Speaker 1: rescue them. Tommy Keinlee heading to Boston, so they were
- 34:08Speaker 1: dealing with the deadline there to call him up because
- 34:10Speaker 1: he'd been in Woosted. Now he's gonna be in.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Boston, bout time.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Ready for some change ups.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Maybe maybe he's gonna throw some heaters this year. Might
- 34:22Speaker 3: mixing some sliders. Remember he told us last time he's
- 34:24Speaker 3: mixing some sliders, So maybe he's gonna throw Maybe he's
- 34:27Speaker 3: gonna be a slider fastball guy. Now he's gonna go
- 34:29Speaker 3: heavy sliders forget to use the change up once.
- 34:32Speaker 2: In a while.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, but maybe instead of you know, ninety percent changers,
- 34:38Speaker 1: maybe he'll be seventy percent change ups and it'll provide
- 34:42Speaker 1: a different look. Hey, there's many guys who would be
- 34:44Speaker 1: one or two pitches and had to expand, you know,
- 34:47Speaker 1: either during their career when the league's getting to him
- 34:49Speaker 1: or later in their career where the arsenal of that one,
- 34:52Speaker 1: you know, the effectiveness of that one pitch is not
- 34:54Speaker 1: as strong. Kenley Jansen used to be one pitch.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Rivera was one pitch as a whole uh career.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Pretty much he's the outlier, but they are guys that
- 35:03Speaker 1: end up expanding their arsenal overtime. Okay, last one on
- 35:07Speaker 1: hot corner. Troy Melton was fantastic at times last year
- 35:12Speaker 1: for the Tigers. Missed the beginning of the year here
- 35:14Speaker 1: with injury. He was great for them yesterday as they
- 35:18Speaker 1: swept the Rays in Saint Petersburg. Tigers with a sweep
- 35:22Speaker 1: on the road to be like, shut up with your
- 35:24Speaker 1: Terek Schoogle trade talks. Let us play out the next
- 35:26Speaker 1: month and a half. First, So at one point this
- 35:29Speaker 1: is Chris McCosky, who covers the Tigers, said, incredible after
- 35:32Speaker 1: the first inning, eighteen straight outs, he completed eight innings
- 35:35Speaker 1: for the first time in his career. He's really good.
- 35:38Speaker 1: You saw him last year, right because you were on
- 35:40Speaker 1: that series.
- 35:41Speaker 3: No, they love him. They love this guy, and he
- 35:43Speaker 3: was great. But they're Tigers. Do you know what the Tigers.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Record is, Scott are They twelve games under.
- 35:50Speaker 2: Twenty five and thirty eight. They're thirteen games under five hundred.
- 35:53Speaker 1: It's a lot.
- 35:54Speaker 2: They got a long way to go to be in contention.
- 35:57Speaker 3: I'm sorry, even in the Weak American League, they got
- 35:59Speaker 3: a long long way to go to be there. They
- 36:02Speaker 3: are almost nine games behind, eight and a half games
- 36:04Speaker 3: behind the White Sox right now, which is in second place.
- 36:07Speaker 2: It's a it's a long road to hoe right there.
- 36:10Speaker 3: I mean, they're they're basically tied with the Royals in
- 36:12Speaker 3: the Lost Calm, which is what you always look at.
- 36:17Speaker 3: I don't know, are the Tigers really in it? I mean, listen,
- 36:20Speaker 3: Melton pitching grade. You get Scoogle back, but they need
- 36:22Speaker 3: Flairty to be better. Ay fromber to be better than
- 36:24Speaker 3: you Dustin Berlin, who got his first triple A win
- 36:26Speaker 3: the other day, by the way, in his life, which
- 36:28Speaker 3: is kind of funny at like forty two years old.
- 36:31Speaker 3: But I don't know, are the Tigers really in it?
- 36:33Speaker 3: Because they swept the Rays and the Rays were due
- 36:35Speaker 3: for letdown, But are they I mean, the Rais are
- 36:38Speaker 3: two and eight in their last few games, but are
- 36:40Speaker 3: they really in it?
- 36:42Speaker 2: Really? Are they really in it?
- 36:44Speaker 1: The Tigers are in it if they win ten in
- 36:45Speaker 1: a row. If not, they're not in it. I mean
- 36:47Speaker 1: they're gonna have to make up a ton of ground.
- 36:49Speaker 3: They're gonna have to make some decisions here down the stretch,
- 36:52Speaker 3: which is never where you want to be. If you're
- 36:54Speaker 3: Scott Harris in the front office, you want to be
- 36:56Speaker 3: making decisions to gain guys, not to make I got
- 36:59Speaker 3: to trade a friend icon in turch schoobl.
- 37:03Speaker 1: The A's were this team last year that went through
- 37:06Speaker 1: the month of May where they were like whatever one
- 37:08Speaker 1: or two wins, whatever the number was. I mean the
- 37:11Speaker 1: Tigers were they before this sweep. I think they had
- 37:13Speaker 1: lost twenty one of twenty five something like that. I mean,
- 37:17Speaker 1: rarely can you pull that off in a year and
- 37:21Speaker 1: make the playoffs, even in an era where there's three
- 37:23Speaker 1: wildcard teams, and I know that they're not so far
- 37:25Speaker 1: out that they couldn't play catch up. But it's it's
- 37:28Speaker 1: not just how many games back you are, how many
- 37:30Speaker 1: teams are ahead of you, you know, because it's not
- 37:31Speaker 1: like you're suddenly going to win. Let's say they go
- 37:34Speaker 1: on a run and they win seven of nine, Okay,
- 37:36Speaker 1: that's a grete seven and two stretch. You're still at
- 37:40Speaker 1: that point.
- 37:41Speaker 2: So eight eight games under five hundred, eight.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Games under five hundred and it's not like every other
- 37:46Speaker 1: team ahead of you just lost during that time period.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Sometimes you don't gain much ground, so it just becomes
- 37:51Speaker 1: a really difficult slog.
- 37:53Speaker 3: That's why the Cubs are fascinating to me. We had
- 37:55Speaker 3: Jesse Rodgers on because they win ten, lose ten, win ten,
- 37:58Speaker 3: lose ten. They won what fifteen games in a row
- 38:01Speaker 3: at home, and now they've lost I think eight games
- 38:02Speaker 3: in a row at home. It's crazy how they've been.
- 38:05Speaker 3: I mean, they've literally been the roller coaster.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Fair streaky. All right, let's slap all right, Well we
- 38:23Speaker 1: mentioned it earlier. Dodgers' Territory is going to be live
- 38:25Speaker 1: in two minutes with Orl Hirschheiser, So that'll run on
- 38:30Speaker 1: the Dodgers Territory YouTube channel. And even if, again you're
- 38:32Speaker 1: not a Dodgers fan, we have a ton of other shows,
- 38:35Speaker 1: but this one in particular also will cover what Christopher
- 38:38Speaker 1: Sanchez just did and talked to the guy who did
- 38:40Speaker 1: it better than anyone else in history, preventing runs for
- 38:45Speaker 1: a long period of time, for fifty nine innings or
- 38:48Speaker 1: whatever the record was there. Tomorrow, Ken Rosenthal back on
- 38:51Speaker 1: the show. He just unleashed a notes column, so we'll
- 38:53Speaker 1: ask him about some of those notes I was on
- 38:55Speaker 1: with him earlier for Fair Territory if you want to
- 38:57Speaker 1: catch that after our show too. Grayson Rodriguez joins us
- 39:00Speaker 1: tomorrow to go over what's been happening with the Angels,
- 39:04Speaker 1: and Maury Brown will join us to talk of biz.
- 39:07Speaker 2: So we're talking about again.
- 39:09Speaker 1: The CBA, but we're gonna try and take a biz
- 39:11Speaker 1: focus with it, like the TV portion of it, sharing
- 39:13Speaker 1: TV money, how blackouts could have been ended years ago
- 39:16Speaker 1: and we just found out that it has nothing to
- 39:18Speaker 1: do with anything. They could just press a button and
- 39:19Speaker 1: they could be over all of that fun stuff tomorrow
- 39:22Speaker 1: on FT.
- 39:23Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to Grayson now, Yeah, me too,
