Speaker 1: Welcome back to Creepcast. Today, we are doing something that
• 0:18
is a first for this channel, and it is going
• 0:22
to be reading fan made stories. We made a shout
• 0:27
out a while ago basically telling people that you know,
• 0:30
work on our slash, No Sleep gets deleted all the time.
• 0:33
I know that the rules are really strict there. We
• 0:35
read a lot from No Sleep, We read creepy pastas.
• 0:38
But we were like, you know, our subreddit at our
• 0:41
slash creep Cast, we want people to just feel like
• 0:44
they can write stuff there. And there's even you know,
• 0:47
there's been a nice big backlog of stuff using the
• 0:50
tag of people using the tag fan made story, and
• 0:53
there's even been our moderators have collected threads of stories
• 0:57
as well. But we were going through today we were
• 0:58
kind of like, you know, we had some ideas of
• 1:00
what we wanted to record, but then we started looking
• 1:02
at some of the stories here and we just thought
• 1:05
that we would do our own grab bag of viewer
• 1:08
stories to see what is the talent in our little
• 1:12
pool of listeners here. You know, maybe maybe there's some
• 1:16
gems just waiting to be uncovered. You know, why why
• 1:21
can't this be the new slash? Why can't this be
• 1:23
the new No Sleep, where you know, new awesome horror
• 1:27
stories are made, and I think it's gonna happen.
• 1:30
Speaker 2: What maybe some of them, you know, are actually worth something,
• 1:33
you know, they ride some value to the earth. It'd
• 1:35
be surprising out of our audience, but you know, maybe
• 1:38
maybe there's something there. No so uh, there was a
• 1:42
bunch of them we read in Soorceld in the Earth
• 1:44
awhile back, which we knew the author of that previously
• 1:48
from uh it breathes, it bleeds uh, And he had
• 1:54
gotten that story and Soorceled in the Earth.
• 1:56
Speaker 3: I believe it was taken down off of No Sleep.
• 1:59
Speaker 2: So he's like, I'm going to put it in creep
• 2:00
cast because they liked the previous thing I did. So
• 2:02
we that's technically the first thing we've read from there,
• 2:05
but we knew the author going in. But there are
• 2:08
honestly scrolling through close to one hundred stories you guys
• 2:11
have posted in our subreddit. So we went through, we
• 2:14
found some titles that look interesting and we are going
• 2:17
to be reading those today. And also, as mentioned, we
• 2:20
assume if you put it in our slash creep cast,
• 2:23
  it's fair game.
• 2:24
Speaker 3: It is free a.
• 2:26
Speaker 1: Pre games and there is this is a real estate
• 2:29
for us. There's going to be probably a wide variety
• 2:32
of stories. As with anything, you know, this is to
• 2:35
encourage people. Even if it's you know, we're laughing, we're
• 2:38
memeing along and all that kind of stuff. You should
• 2:41
be creative and right right, right right and submit it
• 2:44
and share it with people, because that's the only way
• 2:46
the fucking humankind keeps going is by sharing stories, all right,
• 2:51
  So that's happen.
• 2:52
Speaker 2: Even if one of these stories we read today makes
• 2:55
Jeff the Killer look like crime and punishment, if like
• 2:58
  it's just brutal.
• 2:59
Speaker 1: If we read a story today that makes Jeff the
• 3:02
Killer look like crime and punishment, we will be reading
• 3:06
this every week because that will only that that has
• 3:08
to be absolute gold. Then literally we're sifting through literal
• 3:13
gold at this moment. I'm really really excited. Also, the
• 3:18
reception so far on the Patreon has been awesome. By
• 3:21
this time, we should have already our first episode up.
• 3:26
It is a bit of a bit of a cratch
• 3:28
out episode, if I being honest, glad that we didn't
• 3:32
  put that one.
• 3:32
Speaker 2: On the We just kept reading even though we probably
• 3:38
shouldn't have. So that was Yeah, I was gonna say
• 3:40
I remember the whole time, it was like, this is
• 3:41
the first story on our patreon, So if.
• 3:43
Speaker 1: You want to check that out, be sure to check
• 3:45
out our patreon. You can go to and you know,
• 3:48
find new episodes there. I think we're gonna be trying
• 3:51
to play this game called like what was it called again?
• 3:55
Speaker 3: No, No, I'm not human.
• 3:57
Speaker 1: No, I'm not human. It's like a little demo that
• 3:59
looks really cool. Well, gonna be trying doing that, just
• 4:01
doing some stuff, but we got a lot of cool
• 4:03
stuff planned there. And as always, if you're watching this
• 4:05
on YouTube and you're driving or you're heading to work,
• 4:08
consider listening on Spotify or Apple podcast. It really does
• 4:10
help us out. And without further ado, let's get into
• 4:13
some of these stories. And I think the first one
• 4:15
when I was scrolling through, uh, there's a lot to unpackage.
• 4:19
All right, there's a lot the stories. There's stories we're
• 4:22
covering today are the missing Person I'm looking for no
• 4:25
Longer Exists, which I think is a strong title. I
• 4:26
like that one. Yes, Uh it's And then the next
• 4:29
one is I've discovered a book that does not end
• 4:32
the nursing Home at the Edge of the World and
• 4:34
then the last one that I want to read first
• 4:36
because it's the shortest, is called loss of Innocence, all right,
• 4:41
which I don't know why that tickled me in a
• 4:43
way because here's the thing, lots of lots of innocence
• 4:47
and the the user the profile's gone. They've deleted their
• 4:50
profiles since then. So I want you to know that
• 4:54
  if you're watching.
• 4:55
Speaker 2: This and you're the you're the luxurious author of this
• 4:58
short story, and it is very s weren't.
• 5:00
Speaker 1: Come back to us, I have to know. But I'm
• 5:05
this is going to be Lots of Innocence is the
• 5:07
first fans story we're gonna read, and I legitimately think
• 5:11
it's gonna kick us off into a good direction.
• 5:13
Speaker 2: I just have to say, by the way, yeah, the
• 5:16
number of stories scrolling through our own subreddit and maybe
• 5:20
  we've cultivated this.
• 5:21
Speaker 3: Okay, I'm not gonna act like I'm.
• 5:22
Speaker 2: Innocent, but the number of stories that were titled something
• 5:26
to the effect of my dad wasn't nice to me,
• 5:30
or the thing from my childhood, and they all had
• 5:34
not safe for work post on them.
• 5:35
Speaker 1: There was an absorbit amount of not save for work stuff,
• 5:41
to the point where I was like, I feel like
• 5:44
we've just cultivated a smut it like a smut like
• 5:48
subreddit or whatever. So you know, here's here's just a
• 5:53
thing to throw out there. Don't write porn on the
• 5:55
subreddit please, And I don't know, trying to be scary.
• 6:00
Speaker 2: I don't know, or or I'll go further and say
• 6:03
do not right thinly veiled Yeah, yeah, one barrier of like,
• 6:15
oh but he had glowing eyes and the back and.
• 6:20
Speaker 1: Then just back into immediate heavy bagshots. That's pretty much
• 6:24
what the stories are. So uh, I don't know, we'll see.
• 6:27
I don't think any of the ones who are reading
• 6:28
today have the not safe for work. I don't think
• 6:30
we're brave enough to venture there yet.
• 6:32
Speaker 2: I mean the title Loss of Innocents combined deleted the.
• 6:35
Speaker 1: Account, the loss with the deleted exactly with the deleted
• 6:39
account made me think that this is if we're going
• 6:42
to start off with something nice, sure, this is we're
• 6:45
starting with the literal cherry on top. I think, so, yeah, Isaiah,
• 6:50
without further ado, why don't you get us into this
• 6:52
  redacted profiles story?
• 6:55
  Speaker 3: Yeah?
• 6:55
Speaker 2: So normally I like to be like, oh, this was
• 6:57
written by you can support them here, but this guy
• 7:00
  is dead.
• 7:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll leave we'll leave links to all of I'll
• 7:06
be in the description. Yeah. Yeah, So that way you
• 7:08
can go support them, comment on them, all that kind
• 7:10
of stuff, and be sure to you know, show some interactions,
• 7:13
show some love to these people because they did put
• 7:15
themselves out there and fucking you know.
• 7:18
Speaker 2: Also, also, by the way, and I know this hasn't
• 7:21
happened yet because we haven't done one of these yet,
• 7:24
but if you're scrolling through the good cast subreddit and
• 7:26
  see a story.
• 7:27
Speaker 3: You like, be sure to upvote it.
• 7:28
Speaker 2: Because when I was looking through to trying to pick
• 7:32
out stories for us to read, a lot of them
• 7:34
even once that people in the comments seem to like
• 7:37
it and have that many up votes, probably because just
• 7:39
not a ton of people are going through and checking
• 7:41
them out. Yeah, but if something gets a bunch of
• 7:42
up votes, we are more likely to check it out.
• 7:44
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think, you know, if the community likes it,
• 7:46
  we'll read it.
• 7:47
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 7:47
Speaker 1: That's people going in and being like, hey, I support
• 7:50
this one. They should read this. That's kind of how
• 7:52
we are looking at that, which, now that you know,
• 7:54
  go support it.
• 7:55
Speaker 2: Isaiah dive us in all right, Loss of Innocence. I
• 8:00
redacted a few months ago, I was in an accident.
• 8:04
My friend and I were driving home. My friend and
• 8:07
I were My friend and I were driving home from
• 8:12
work when a young woman on a bicycle came out
• 8:14
of nowhere and smashed into my friend's car at eighty
• 8:16
  miles from now.
• 8:17
Speaker 1: Okay, pause, okay, time out real quick now, now, Isaiah,
• 8:24
are they saying that the bicycle was going eighty miles
• 8:27
that's what I was? Or where there was a friend's
• 8:32
car going eighty miles an hour? What if they were
• 8:34
both if they were both going eight miles an hour?
• 8:36
Does a neutron star just form in life as we
• 8:40
  know it seased to be?
• 8:42
Speaker 3: I think she just gets out of my eyes across.
• 8:45
Speaker 1: It's like the fucking the submersible going down the Titanic.
• 8:48
They just imploded and turned to a fine dust, that little.
• 8:52
Speaker 3: Uh the submarine that imploded. Yeah.
• 8:54
Speaker 2: What made me laughing is I was reading My friend
• 8:57
and I were driving and underd like I can see
• 9:01
  the line beneath it.
• 9:02
Speaker 3: I just smashed eighty.
• 9:03
Speaker 1: Miles per hour, all right, So we don't know, We
• 9:08
don't know for a fact if it's I'm gonna assume
• 9:11
the young woman on the bicycle was going eighty miles
• 9:13
an hour. All right, Tour de France, downhill, Lance Armstrong,
• 9:19
  Let's go.
• 9:20
Speaker 2: Eighty miles an hour on a bicycle is like light speed? Yes,
• 9:24
And that's what she was like falling down a cliff.
• 9:27
Speaker 1: She had a beautiful summer dress flowing. She was perfectly
• 9:31
up straight. She wasn't even like in a speed pose.
• 9:33
Speaker 2: She was perfectly up straight, legs legs outstretched, her legs
• 9:38
  were even on the pedals.
• 9:39
Speaker 3: She was she was just barely.
• 9:43
Speaker 2: This is gonna be this is gonna be really rough
• 9:45
at the end. This is just like an actual confession
• 9:49
the author is making. Maybe it is, and you were
• 9:52
joking about like wow, brutal it was.
• 9:56
  Speaker 3: Yeah, all right.
• 9:57
Speaker 2: We got out as soon as we realized what happened
• 10:00
and called an ambulance. But unfortunately, sorry, I'm not gonna
• 10:05
keep something. But what do you mean We got out
• 10:07
as soon as we realized because as soon as she was.
• 10:14
Speaker 3: Karen pull the car over. No, I think we hit something. No, dude,
• 10:21
she was going eighty miles an hour. It looked like
• 10:24
  a flash.
• 10:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it looked like it looked like a like
• 10:30
  a fly hitting the window.
• 10:31
Speaker 1: For a moment, like what was that they like a meteor. Yeah,
• 10:35
then they see a fucking woman on like a nineteen
• 10:37
fifties bicycle, just like flinging through the air. All right, sorry,
• 10:42
that's the last time I'm going to stop it.
• 10:44
  Speaker 3: Okay, all right.
• 10:45
Speaker 2: The woman died choking on her own blood at the scene.
• 10:48
The investigators analyzed the scene and cleared my friend of
• 10:51
any wrongdoing and rolled it a freak accident. My friend
• 10:54
wouldn't listen to reason, though. His guilt consumed him entirely
• 10:57
ever since. I understood how he felt to an extent,
• 11:00
but I couldn't help him accept that it wasn't his fault.
• 11:03
He was utterly destroyed by what had happened and felt
• 11:05
that he would never be able to be forgiven for
• 11:08
  what he had done.
• 11:09
Speaker 3: Over the next few weeks, he got worse and worse.
• 11:12
Speaker 2: He would often talk about wanting to travel back in
• 11:14
time so he would have never been driving the car
• 11:16
that day. Trying to convince him that he needed to
• 11:19
see professional help because he needs to accept that it
• 11:22
wasn't his fault. He wouldn't listen, though, and over the
• 11:25
coming weeks he came to work less and less, and
• 11:28
whenever he did come, he looked awful, like he wasn't sleeping.
• 11:31
Speaker 3: The last time I saw him at work.
• 11:33
Speaker 2: He told me he wished he never grew up, because
• 11:35
humans are bound to harm others, no matter how hard
• 11:39
  they tried not to.
• 11:40
  Speaker 1: As adults.
• 11:43
Speaker 2: What he talk, I wish I was never fucking born,
• 11:48
which I was never born, because adults are too. They
• 11:51
always harm each other's I'm a ticking time bomb, Jared,
• 11:57
  a fucking.
• 11:58
  Speaker 1: Dicking time bomb.
• 12:00
Speaker 2: You should kill yourself, Jared, because you're gonna hurt someone too.
• 12:04
Speaker 1: That's what's gonna happen, is Jared. Also, there's no names
• 12:07
in this story. I'm just saying Jared.
• 12:08
Speaker 2: But Hunter, a woman lost her life choking on her
• 12:14
own blood, not from being choke, not from blunt force drama,
• 12:17
from being struck by a car while she was going
• 12:20
eight miles an hour and a bike.
• 12:22
  Speaker 1: She somehow landed.
• 12:23
Speaker 2: The pool of blood collected in her mouth, and she
• 12:25
was like, yo, I didn even see you.
• 12:34
Speaker 1: I shouldn't have been driving. I'm an adult human stew Hunter. Well,
• 12:38
I'm an adult, so I shouldn't have been driving behind
• 12:40
the wheel. I should have KNOWNE.
• 12:41
Speaker 2: This would have happened if it was each other, if
• 12:44
it wasn't you, I would have U I would have
• 12:46
driven up on the side of a sidewalk and crushed
• 12:49
into another human being because it's just my it's my
• 12:52
adult urge ok. I urged him to see a doctor
• 12:55
because he was clearly mentally unstable and beating himself up
• 12:58
for something out of his control.
• 13:00
Speaker 3: He wouldn't listen and just.
• 13:01
Speaker 1: Said, I know what I need to do now.
• 13:03
Speaker 2: That was the last time I saw him until tonight.
• 13:07
It had been two weeks. I don't know why you
• 13:14
said that, as if you were reading something really quickly,
• 13:18
like you said that the way no, no, no, no, the
• 13:23
way you went I know what I need to do.
• 13:25
Speaker 3: I know what I need to do now.
• 13:27
Speaker 1: I know what I need to do now.
• 13:29
Speaker 3: There you No, I like the first one better.
• 13:33
Speaker 1: That was the last time I saw him until tonight.
• 13:36
  Speaker 3: Yes, until tonight.
• 13:38
Speaker 2: It had been two weeks since that day at work,
• 13:40
he hasn't come in again, and our manager told me
• 13:43
he had to let him go for good. This time
• 13:45
I understood. After my shift, I went over to my
• 13:47
friend's place to check up on him. The lights were
• 13:50
on and I could hear the TV on, so I
• 13:52
knew he was here. I knocked and called out, but
• 13:54
there was no answer. I twisted the handle. Luckily or unluckily,
• 13:59
the door was unlocked. I stepped into his apartment, which
• 14:02
was lit up only by the TV playing kids cartoons
• 14:04
in the living room and the dim light coming the
• 14:08
dim light coming from this bedroom door, which was slightly
• 14:11
cracked at the end of the hall. Is he going
• 14:13
to be a giant fucking baby? He's going to be
• 14:15
a giant fucking baby. That would be something or viewer
• 14:20
of this show would write, the last time we saw
• 14:24
man become a baby, we enjoyed it a lot.
• 14:26
  Speaker 1: Well, I exactly, Well, I just I'm just saying he's
• 14:28
putting emphasis on like, oh, that's why I wish it
• 14:32
was never an adult, and then be like I know
• 14:34
what I have. Also, they never just said what his
• 14:37
job is, so I like to think that he's a
• 14:39
deep sea diver. So they're like on a boat and
• 14:41
he's like, I know what I have to do, and
• 14:43
he hasn't seen him and he goes to his house
• 14:45
and there's just like SpongeBob playing the TV.
• 14:49
Speaker 3: Okay, sorry, go ahead, why a deep sea diver? I
• 14:54
  I don't know.
• 14:55
Speaker 1: I mean, like at first I was thinking of pizza shop.
• 14:57
But I think that's just because he was driving, you know,
• 15:00
So I'm like, oh, he's like a pizza delivery darmers
• 15:02
while I was thinking, But then I was like, well
• 15:03
could he It could be nothing, And then I was
• 15:05
like going around, I'm like, it'd be really funny if
• 15:07
his job was like super eccentric for no reason. Because
• 15:12
it's like a it doesn't make a difference. But now
• 15:14
I got my head too much about it, and now
• 15:16
I think that he's a deep sea diver.
• 15:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, that makes perfect sense to me. I guess okay, good. Oh.
• 15:26
Speaker 2: I called out again, no answer. I looked around closer
• 15:29
at the apartment. It was disgusting. Cans of baby food.
• 15:33
Oh oh, hotter god, damn? Did you might be right?
• 15:38
Cans of baby food littered the floor, and rags covered
• 15:42
in shit and pissed reminded the narrow hallway. The smell
• 15:47
was horrible. It made me gag. I heard some movement
• 15:51
from my friend's bedroom. I called out again and heard
• 15:54
a strange moan answer. Because I got closer to his bedroom,
• 15:58
the smell got stronger and more vibe. I announced I
• 16:01
was coming in for gently pushing the door open. What
• 16:04
I seen in his room still haunts me. My friend
• 16:07
was on all fours, wearing nothing but a shit filled
• 16:11
rag that was damp and leaking. His head shaved all
• 16:15
over except for a small patch of wind whispy hair.
• 16:19
Speaker 3: Like a newborn's from the top of his head on
• 16:22
  the floor.
• 16:23
Speaker 2: His teeth lay in a small scattered pile surrounded by
• 16:27
dried up blood. When he saw me and looked into
• 16:31
my eyes and began crying, a deep and horrible cry,
• 16:33
like an overgrown baby. His mouth tripped blood from his
• 16:36
bloody gumbs. I could barely process what I was seeing.
• 16:41
I couldn't help but back away out of fear, but
• 16:44
this seemed to anger him. He began crawling towards me, clumsily,
• 16:48
  but with surprising speed.
• 16:50
Speaker 3: I turned to run out.
• 16:51
Speaker 2: He grabbed my leg as I fled, making me trip
• 16:53
and slammed to the floor. I frantically crawled away, but
• 16:56
he was on top of me. He flipped me over
• 16:59
on my back and wrapped his strong hands around my
• 17:01
throat as he choked to me. I stared deeply in
• 17:04
his eyes and saw nothing over the pain and a
• 17:07
  desperate desire to.
• 17:08
Speaker 3: Be forgiven, said I.
• 17:09
Speaker 2: Fighting him, I gently touched his face, gave him a
• 17:11
look to communicate that I forgave him, just wanted to help.
• 17:16
Speaker 3: He seemed to understand it. Let go of my neck.
• 17:19
Speaker 2: He began balling again, rawled into the corner of the
• 17:21
hallway and curled up in a ball. Sat there with
• 17:24
my friend as he cried until he fell asleep. I'm
• 17:26
setting outside his apartment waiting for paramedics as I write this,
• 17:30
just hoping they get here my friend's able to get
• 17:33
  the help he clearly needs.
• 17:34
Speaker 3: That is the end of loss of innocence.
• 17:38
Speaker 1: Lots of innocence, Such a good title.
• 17:45
Speaker 2: I will say. I will say I like the teeth thing,
• 17:49
like he raps his own teeth out.
• 17:52
  Speaker 3: That's fun.
• 17:52
Speaker 1: Listen the idea of a guy turning into a baby,
• 17:55
which I wondered if the guy wrote this because he
• 17:57
was like my my husband's taking our role play too far.
• 18:00
Wonder I wonder if he thought that was interesting. The
• 18:02
idea of a guy like reverting back to a baby
• 18:06
is funny. Him colliding into a woman at astronomical speeds
• 18:12
being the thing that trigger it is very funny. Also,
• 18:16
the justification of him being like this is why I
• 18:18
never wanted to get old. It's because something like this
• 18:21
would happen, is is pretty funny. If this was a
• 18:25
little longer, it had more dialogue, this probably would have
• 18:28
been like in like just a really funny thing. It
• 18:31
just it's it's short compact. I wish there was more.
• 18:34
I love it. It's absurd. I love also that I
• 18:38
don't know anything about these characters. They don't know what
• 18:41
their names are, don't know where they worked. It's just
• 18:44
a thing of one day they were driving together their buddies.
• 18:48
I think they were working and they he basically killed someone.
• 18:53
His deep sea diver was like, you got your fired.
• 18:56
It's a tragic tale of a deep sea diving man.
• 19:00
What'd you think? Would you out of out of five creeps?
• 19:03
What would you give loss of Innocence.
• 19:06
Speaker 3: A five creep? I mean, for fun, I'd give it three.
• 19:10
Speaker 2: I mean, if we're talking, if we're talking about the
• 19:12
whoror one would be nothing. So I would say too,
• 19:15
because I do like the idea of like a grown
• 19:17
man that's just like wearing these diapers and rags and
• 19:22
smells disgusting, and he's ripping his own teeth out.
• 19:25
Speaker 3: That's a fun visual. Why do you think, why do
• 19:27
you think the baby they get wrapped up.
• 19:29
Speaker 2: I think it was way too short for the concept,
• 19:31
and that's why it kind of comes off as comedic,
• 19:33
because what otherwise could have been like long and like
• 19:36
mental deterioration, was just adults hurt people. I can't be
• 19:40
an adult. So he goes and does that, so it's you.
• 19:42
I feel like the shortness plays against it a lot,
• 19:44
but it is a fun concept.
• 19:46
Speaker 1: This could have been seven hundred pages long, Isaiah. It
• 19:50
could have been. It could have been as long as
• 19:52
an infinite jest. And if the man reverts back to
• 19:54
a baby because he killed somebody and he was like,
• 19:57
this is why I never wanted to grow up. It's
• 19:59
gonna be funny, all right. There's no no way to
• 20:01
get around that. Those things. I mean, to be fair,
• 20:05
it truly was a loss of innocence, wasn't it.
• 20:09
Speaker 3: Mm hmm yeah, uh, In fact it was.
• 20:12
Speaker 2: I was like, I'm glad we read it. I think
• 20:14
I think there's stuff there. I think it was fun.
• 20:16
I think whoever that author is, even though they deleted
• 20:18
their accountant, come back to us on the earth. Yeah,
• 20:20
keep writing, come come back to us, because I this
• 20:24
is I love this. Wait, this episode is sponsored by
• 20:27

• 20:30

• 21:19
Now let's get back to the store. There's a couple
• 21:22
of questions. I had one. He uh, it seems like
• 21:27
the baby knew that the guy was coming in there,
• 21:29
right because he was set there and he was like, uh,
• 21:33
where's the deal at I called out, Uh yeah, I
• 21:37
called it again and heard a strange mode answer, which
• 21:39
made me think of the peanut butter baby, is what
• 21:43
I was thinking. So he's sitting there and he's like, uh,
• 21:46
you know, hey, Uh Carl, are you there?
• 21:49
Speaker 4: He's like, ah, the other room.
• 21:57
Speaker 1: So it's like he knew that he was coming in.
• 21:59
So wonder what I'm wondering is why the hell did
• 22:02
he strangle the son of a bitch? He gave him
• 22:05
a peanut butter baby answer. I'm like, he's still mad?
• 22:09
The fuck is up with that?
• 22:11
Speaker 3: Or is it because of the baby? The baby choked him?
• 22:14
Speaker 1: No, that's what I'm saying. The baby gave him a
• 22:16
peanut butter baby answer with the strange bone right, Carl.
• 22:21
  Speaker 3: Are you here?
• 22:22
  Speaker 2: Uh?
• 22:23
Speaker 1: So he knows he's there. So to me, I'm like,
• 22:27
is it just the pure loss of innocence that's what
• 22:31
made this baby? Would the baby have killed anyone? I
• 22:34
guess is what I'm is the is the answer I
• 22:36
wanted to know if anyone would have watched I.
• 22:39
Speaker 3: I'm maybe I don't know. Again, the story is so
• 22:43
  short it doesn't.
• 22:45
Speaker 1: Humor me humor meat with speculation.
• 22:48
Speaker 2: Yes, the baby would have killed anyone who came through
• 22:50
  the door.
• 22:50
Speaker 1: All right, do you okay? Well, then would you say
• 22:52
that his strange moan was that of the peanut butter baby?
• 22:56
  Speaker 3: Sure?
• 22:57
Speaker 1: Uh, well, there you go, my my, my questions. I
• 23:03
  guess I've been answered.
• 23:06
Speaker 3: Till we go to to the nuts.
• 23:07
Speaker 1: Story that was loss of Innocence by or redacted. Please
• 23:13
come back to us redacted. Peanut butter baby a deep
• 23:17
sea diver turning into the peanut butter baby is pretty
• 23:19
  funny and.
• 23:20
  Speaker 3: I like that.
• 23:21
Speaker 1: Also to naming your story, loss of innocence is awesome,
• 23:25
really funny. We're gonna get that tattooed on my chest.
• 23:28
  Speaker 5: All right.
• 23:28
Speaker 1: Next story we're doing is the person the missing person
• 23:32
I'm looking for no longer exists. I actually think that's
• 23:34
  a really sick title.
• 23:36
Speaker 2: It's a good title. It's also we have an author
• 23:38
this time. So the author there.
• 23:40
  Speaker 1: Weren't they? They weren't they weren't I guess bullied or
• 23:45
you know, felt embarrassed and deleted. I'd say, come back
• 23:48
  to us redacted.
• 23:49
Speaker 3: I do I agree, I agree with that.
• 23:51
Speaker 2: So the author of this one, their name is Raymond
• 23:54
on their Reddit profile. Uh, and their user name is
• 23:58
Consequence level seven eight seven seven. I will say that
• 24:03
they created their account on June the eighth, and then
• 24:07
they made this post and never done anything else again.
• 24:12
  Speaker 1: Okay, what what?
• 24:14
Speaker 2: The only way to tell is what the author's writing
• 24:17
stuff here on our deal. It's like, I feel like
• 24:21
we have a we have a bunch of authors that
• 24:22
are just serial killers, that are like.
• 24:24
  Speaker 3: This is it.
• 24:25
Speaker 1: This is the only little.
• 24:26
Speaker 2: This is like, the only thing that you'll know of
• 24:28
me is this thing right here. I don't want to
• 24:30
be known. This is my opinions. They're ready account's cute though,
• 24:35
they have like a little guinea pig thing, so maybe
• 24:38
maybe they're not a serial killer.
• 24:39
  Speaker 3: Who knows.
• 24:39
Speaker 2: But this is the only thing they've ever posted, so
• 24:44
I guess this will determine everything about them. This is
• 24:48
our only understanding of them as a person.
• 24:51
Speaker 1: So Consequence level seven eight seven seven. Hopefully you had
• 24:54
no loss of innocence, and hopefully the story is good. Isaiah.
• 24:59
  Let's run it.
• 25:00
Speaker 2: Let's run it all right. The missing person I'm looking
• 25:03
for no longer exists. I'm an investigator working on a
• 25:07
contract contract basis in the Pacific northwest of the United States.
• 25:11
Around four months ago, a string of house fires spring
• 25:13
up across Oregon. Initially, I had no involvement in the
• 25:16
investigations revolving around these fires. I'd kept up with information
• 25:21
about them to have on file for future contracts.
• 25:24
  Speaker 3: Otherwise, all I.
• 25:25
Speaker 2: Knew up until a few weeks ago was that there
• 25:27
were rumors of a serial arsonist because the points of
• 25:31
origin of the fires were fairly unusual. Three weeks ago, however,
• 25:36
I was contacted by both the local police department and
• 25:38
a private client to participate in the investigation of a
• 25:41
missing person's case. Now, usually I would not post information
• 25:45
about a client publicly, but due to the nature of
• 25:48
  what I'm about.
• 25:49
Speaker 3: To explain, I don't think it matters at this point.
• 25:52
Speaker 2: The missing person in question is a twenty nine year
• 25:54
old female named Millie from the documentation and summaries given
• 25:58
to me by my client and the police. She was
• 26:00
born and raised in Oregon, has an interest in classics,
• 26:03
works for a number of historical education foundations, and is
• 26:07
not someone who would be suspected of disappearing without warning.
• 26:11
All this information was true and verifiable until yesterday morning.
• 26:15
Be totally honest, I am completely lost.
• 26:17
Speaker 3: On what to do.
• 26:19
Speaker 2: Situation goes beyond anything I've ever experienced in my life before,
• 26:22
let alone as an investigator. The following is my recount
• 26:25
of the events leading up to today. Any advice is appreciated.
• 26:29
Three weeks back, when I first was contacted by my client,
• 26:32
who is a close relation to Millie, I was told
• 26:36
that she had not contacted any of her family in
• 26:38
almost a month. This was apparently highly unusual for her.
• 26:43
With visiting her home, nobody answered the door. Her car
• 26:46
was still on the driveway, but all the blinds of
• 26:48
the windows were shut and the doors were all locked.
• 26:51
I initially approached this contract somewhat casually, since a lot
• 26:55
of these cases ended up being misunderstandings or runaway spouses.
• 26:59
Then about a week later, I got a call from
• 27:01
a local police department. Apparently a fire had started in
• 27:05
another home. This was no issue for the department or
• 27:08
for their arson investigators. What was a problem was the
• 27:12
fact that all of the previous homeowners had been reported
• 27:15
as missing many months prior, and this case was no different.
• 27:19
This information was withheld from the public to stop any potential.
• 27:21
Speaker 3: Suspects from going into hiding.
• 27:24
Speaker 2: Said, so happens The missing person in both of my
• 27:26
client's case and the arts investigation was none other than Millie.
• 27:30
Investigators had already been assigned to the previous missing person's case,
• 27:34
so they needed to outsource this one in order to
• 27:36
keep diligent on the others. I had previously worked with
• 27:39
the police department, so I suppose I was the first
• 27:41
on their list of investigators. I was given briefs on
• 27:44
her background, missing person reports, family relations, etc. Which was
• 27:49
far more information than I had gone from my other client,
• 27:52
and a week prior to the police contacted me, I
• 27:53
had found almost nothing that could be considered a lead,
• 27:57
so I was very thankful to have added to work with.
• 28:00
Speaker 3: I did have access to her.
• 28:01
Speaker 2: Home and a record, and since she barely had an
• 28:03
online presence, I was unable to track down information about
• 28:06
her other than through her friends and family. The only
• 28:09
other information I was able to gather was by contacting
• 28:13
the educational foundations and museums she'd been working with.
• 28:16
Speaker 3: All of them said they hadn't heard from her in
• 28:18
  almost two months.
• 28:19
Speaker 2: I was brought in to investigate the house fire along
• 28:22
with the arson team the day after I was contacted.
• 28:25
Speaker 3: The team had already.
• 28:25
Speaker 2: Swept over the house the day of the fire, but
• 28:27
we're returning to explain the strange nature of this case,
• 28:30
and assisted me in whatever way they could. It was
• 28:33
explained to me that the point of the origin of
• 28:34
the fire was around the fireplace. This would have been
• 28:37
normal enough if it weren't for the fact that the
• 28:38
fireplace itself and the carpet around it were completely untouched.
• 28:42
The fire started around the fireplace, specially focused on the ceiling.
• 28:47
Not only that, but the carpeted floor of the living
• 28:49
room was unaffected. Other than being covered from the ash
• 28:52
that had fallen from the surrounding walls and the ceiling.
• 28:55
Speaker 3: It was a zone.
• 28:56
Speaker 2: Incredibly hot flame had been floating in mid air just
• 28:59
to of the floor. Entering the home, this is exactly
• 29:02
what it looked like, clean, dark red carpeted floor, surrounded
• 29:06
by pitch black scorched walls and a half burnt ceiling.
• 29:10
Structural integrity of the home seemed to be intact enough
• 29:13
to be safe to enter. There's a burnt couch, some chairs, tables,
• 29:17
and a wall of burnt bookshelves that had toppled next
• 29:20
to a fireplace. I took my time to look around
• 29:22
the home, starting with a second story bedroom. Tried to
• 29:26
turn on a light, but the power had been shut
• 29:27
off in case the problems stemmed from an electrical fire.
• 29:31
When I tried to put up the window blinds to
• 29:32
get light into the room, they wouldn't budge. Looking closely
• 29:35
with a dim flashlight, the blinds of all the windows
• 29:38
to the room had been nailed down to the wood
• 29:40
of their window frames. Asked the arson team about this,
• 29:43
and they said, there's no concrete explanation as to.
• 29:46
Speaker 3: Why it was across every window of the house.
• 29:49
Speaker 2: If she had been stalked, this might make sense, but
• 29:52
that would likely not apply to the second story windows.
• 29:55
No history of mental instability or paranoia. This was fairly unusual.
• 29:59
I checked the master bedroom in the bathrooms upstairs and
• 30:01
got almost nothing. Everything looked fairly clean and like a
• 30:05
  relatively normal lived in home.
• 30:07
Speaker 3: Even in the office there was almost nothing unusual to find.
• 30:11
Speaker 2: I searched lightly for journals or documents that might assist
• 30:14
in figuring out what happened, but much of the evidence
• 30:17
had been taken in already, so I would need to
• 30:20
request access to it. Back in the living room, I
• 30:22
noticed that none of the burnt books had been moved
• 30:25
I checked with the arson team, who cleared me to
• 30:27
look through the books scattered all around the fireplace. Among
• 30:30
the toppled bookshelves, many of the books were unreadable and.
• 30:33
Speaker 3: Reduced to a block of ash.
• 30:35
Speaker 2: So sifting through the pile directly in front of the fireplace,
• 30:38
I came across one that was surprisingly intact. I was
• 30:41
covered in ash, but quickly flipping through the pages, it
• 30:44
was completely unburnt. I was ecstatic to see that it
• 30:47
looked to be a journal of some kind. Usually I
• 30:51
would turn this into evidence and request access to it
• 30:53
after it had been gone over the core investigative team.
• 30:56
Mother client had put high urgency on finding Millie, so
• 30:59
I instead decided I would do some work with it
• 31:01
at home and then turn it in as evidence the
• 31:03
next time I came to Milly's property, so I could
• 31:05
bypass the weeks it might take to get access to it.
• 31:08
I'll summarize my room to room search by saying I
• 31:10
found absolutely nothing else in that home that could lead
• 31:13
to any potential avenues to explain her disappearance. The only
• 31:16
thing out of place was the fire and the blind's
• 31:18
being nailed shut. When asking, the department said her passport
• 31:21
and more personal documents were all in a fireproof lock
• 31:23
box upstairs. Otherwise, all the potentially useful contents of her
• 31:28
office were really just historical papers and drawings of ancient
• 31:31
Greek architecture and mythology. May seem like I am not
• 31:35
being very thorough with this search for her, but I
• 31:37
cannot stress enough how little information was there was to
• 31:40
go off of and trying to find her. She was
• 31:43
a relatively private, family oriented history buff who lived by
• 31:47
working minor jobs with a large variety of nonprofit historical foundations.
• 31:52
Speaker 3: I checked every source I could find.
• 31:54
Speaker 2: I forgetting home late, set the notebook on my desk
• 31:57
on top of a clean towel, set down to start
• 31:59
reading it with gloves on. It was dark outside, so
• 32:02
I had to turn on the nearby lamp since I
• 32:05
was going to be turning the book in, I was
• 32:06
hoping to avoid any of my own potentially traceable DNA
• 32:10
or finger prints getting anywhere on the book. Front of
• 32:13
the journal was a rough red fabric that, top of
• 32:16
being covered with ash, looked pretty tattered. At first glance,
• 32:19
it looked like the bottom right corner that parts of
• 32:22
the hard back shell have been burnt. Like the other books,
• 32:25
but feeling them, I realized they simply had been covered
• 32:28
with bits of dark, smoky black.
• 32:29
Speaker 3: Ash that have worked its way in between the fibers
• 32:31
  of the cover.
• 32:33
Speaker 2: For one, if he brought this thing all the way
• 32:34
back to his house, he's got so much DNA And yeah,
• 32:42
there he is one hundred percent getting asked a bunch
• 32:45
of questions by the police, No question.
• 32:48
Speaker 1: Yeah, why would you remove that? Uh uh, it's my job.
• 32:53
Speaker 3: I wanted to know.
• 32:55
Speaker 2: I needed to also contact Hades just as she had
• 33:00
and get sucked through the fireplaze portal. The spine of
• 33:04
the book had fifteen indented black notches that looked like
• 33:08
hash marks, equally spaced from top of the spine to
• 33:11
the bottom opening it. Some pages had stuck together from
• 33:14
moisture and weathering and needed to be carefully pulled apart.
• 33:17
Speaker 3: The paper was old and very coarse.
• 33:19
Speaker 2: Yellowing had spread over the corners of the inner hardcover
• 33:23
and the bottom left. There also seemed to be an
• 33:25
egg sized, deep reddish black blotch. I initially thought someone
• 33:29
must have spilled ink on the cover. Up on closer inspection,
• 33:33
sprawling pattern of lines inside the inky marks seemed more
• 33:36
  like fingerprint of a giant.
• 33:38
Speaker 3: I remember exclaiming what in confusion.
• 33:42
Speaker 2: It was very clearly a fingerprint of some kind, but
• 33:44
it was truly about the size of an egg. I
• 33:46
thought somebody had to have made a stamp of their
• 33:49
fingerprint as a clever way to sign personal items without
• 33:52
giving their identity away to the average person if it
• 33:55
was found. Unfortunately, Millie had no fingerprint on file, even
• 33:59
with international travel, so I couldn't compare to see if
• 34:02
it was hers. This peaked a sort of morbid curiosity
• 34:05
in me. Journals are per personal, but that was going
• 34:09
a step beyond. I had to understand why someone, especially
• 34:12
if it was Milly, would go to such links to
• 34:14
hide their identity For a journal.
• 34:17
Speaker 3: It could even help explain her disappearance.
• 34:20
Speaker 2: Turning to the next page, it was hard to avoid
• 34:22
ripping the paper when trying to get the two pieces
• 34:24
  unstuck from each other.
• 34:26
Speaker 3: First page surprised me.
• 34:28
Speaker 2: It was filled with a wall of text in a
• 34:30
language I did not recognize. Some letters looked familiar but
• 34:34
slightly off when compared to English counterparts, y's and o's
• 34:38
with strikes through them, neatly written, and what looked to
• 34:40
be charcoal were sprawled across the page scenes Milly had
• 34:44
  associations with classical studies.
• 34:46
Speaker 3: I had to assume it was.
• 34:48
Speaker 2: Some alternate Greek alphabet that I obviously could not read.
• 34:51
This continued in a few pages until it suddenly cut
• 34:54
off midway through. On the left side of the third page.
• 34:58
On the right hand page, there looked to be only
• 35:00
two words written. One was neatly put in the top
• 35:03
left corner and was written in ink, and the other
• 35:06
was off the side, written in some charcoal. As before,
• 35:08
pages following were written semi sporadically. Some had what looked
• 35:12
to be full sentences, others had one word in large letters.
• 35:15
The writings alternated between the ink and the charcoal, but
• 35:18
both looked to be in the same handwriting. After a while,
• 35:21
flipping through came across the set of pages that were
• 35:24
drawings of scenes. These were written in charcoal and had
• 35:28
been so badly smudged that I could not tell what
• 35:30
they'd picked in. It looked like an interior of some kind,
• 35:34
but all the details were smeared and smudged till incomprehensible.
• 35:38
The pages following the drawings were blank. Flipping through, I
• 35:41
was scared that was the end of my potential lead.
• 35:44
My fears were quelled when, after about ten pages of flipping,
• 35:47
I came across more writing. It was the same script,
• 35:50
but looked like a new author, as the writing was
• 35:53
smaller and softer than the previous text. Flipping through this
• 35:57
was similar locks of text diminishing in two smaller texts,
• 36:00
eventually leading to smudged images and charcoal. I continue to
• 36:04
flip through these pages, looking for any semblance of recognizable language,
• 36:07
until I eventually came across something different. This page looked
• 36:11
to be in a new language, something closer to French,
• 36:15
written in ink. Some words were slightly recognizable. Comment and
• 36:20
what looked like approacher were the two that I could
• 36:23
more directly pick up on, but most of it I
• 36:26
couldnot make any sense of. Same pattern came up again,
• 36:29
wall of text, short sentences, and some charcoal drawings. I
• 36:33
wish i'd stop there. If I'd stopped there, everything would
• 36:36
have been fine. Turning pages and attempting to decipher yielded
• 36:40
no better understanding. That wasn't until I turned to a
• 36:44
new blank section moving through, I was again worried I'd
• 36:47
come to the end of this fascinating and potentially useful book.
• 36:50
Saw a blanche of ink in between the pages I'd
• 36:52
flipped through, which I quickly turned back to the top
• 36:55
  left corner.
• 36:57
Speaker 3: The right hand page, there was a clear as day
• 36:59
  English wars.
• 37:00
  Speaker 1: Hello.
• 37:01
Speaker 2: Sort of shocked my brain back into what I was doing.
• 37:04
Up until this point, nothing had been decipherable. Though it
• 37:07
didn't feel like I was doing anything wrong, Reading that
• 37:11
one word made me realize I could be doing something
• 37:14
I shouldn't be. This was someone's private property, someone missing
• 37:18
a less my brain had to come up with reasons
• 37:21
to keep reading, even though I might be prying into
• 37:24
something that could have been of little used to the
• 37:27
case that came from a crime scene. Maybe I find
• 37:30
evidence and progress the missing person's case, or perhaps a
• 37:34
family member might appreciate the memories within the matter of
• 37:37
the reason I turned the page.
• 37:40
Speaker 3: Next page was not much more for both do you
• 37:43
  have a name? Okay?
• 37:44
Speaker 2: This is fun because the whole time it's like, all right,
• 37:46
where we get to with the writing, And clearly she
• 37:50
was interested in some kind of ancient religion or spell
• 37:54
or something like that. But now we're seeing her interactions
• 37:56
like she was talking through the page.
• 37:57
Speaker 1: Just yeah, I thought I was leading until a necronomicon
• 38:00
kind of thing. But yeah, it's cool. It's a weird
• 38:03
supernatural text that she's like talking to spirits through or something.
• 38:07
  Speaker 3: Yeah, that's fun. That's fun.
• 38:09
Speaker 1: Also, all the old texts, it's something that's obviously been
• 38:11
passed around for god knows how long.
• 38:14
Speaker 2: This book he establishes as the red cover. It's old.
• 38:17
There's a thumb print of something like a demon or
• 38:20
like some ancient being passed it on, and like several
• 38:22
different people from different cultures have pushed this through each other,
• 38:27
and her being a history major, she came across it
• 38:29
somehow and tried it for herself.
• 38:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, that was interesting to me.
• 38:32
Speaker 2: Someone had written on this page, but not the text,
• 38:35
and it was a question no less turned into the page.
• 38:39
Speaker 3: There was more texts on the left.
• 38:40
Speaker 1: Page, nice to meet you.
• 38:42
Speaker 2: And again the right hand page was plank. The next one,
• 38:46
Oh that's cool. It's like whatever answer it gave her,
• 38:51
it probably shows up. Yeah, yeah, that's neat. The next
• 38:55
page simply read unimportant. Something clicked in my head that moment.
• 39:01
This wasn't a journal. It was a sort of book
• 39:04
filled with a pre planned half of a conversation with
• 39:08
the previous owner. It must have been passed down from
• 39:11
person to person, or left for more people to find.
• 39:14
Speaker 3: This would explain what I saw before, at least somewhat.
• 39:17
Speaker 2: Maybe they were all conversations between previous owners.
• 39:20
Speaker 3: This was incredibly unprofessional me. I don't know what came
• 39:23
  over me.
• 39:24
Speaker 2: Something about this book was so intriguing up to this
• 39:26
point that I wasn't really thinking about the situation I
• 39:29
was in. That same more curiosity was brought about again,
• 39:33
potentially conversing with a missing person drove me to want
• 39:37
to see what conversation am I being stored if I
• 39:39
followed along going back, I took my closest pen Next
• 39:43
to the first English page, I wrote, Hello, I mean
• 39:48
you gotta be curious, right, you do? But it's just
• 39:50
god like rule number. It's just like in movies when
• 39:53
it's like, you know, what is this? What is this
• 39:56
  weird language?
• 39:57
  Speaker 1: Bah lah?
• 39:58
  Speaker 3: Cool?
• 39:59
Speaker 1: It's like why why read?
• 40:01
Speaker 3: I mean, turning the page. Next to the question about
• 40:06
  a name, I.
• 40:06
Speaker 1: Wrote, Yes, my name is Isaac.
• 40:10
Speaker 3: I turned the page again.
• 40:11
Speaker 2: My blood stood still for a moment as I read
• 40:14
the response, nice to meet you Isaac. So hold on,
• 40:20
he wrote, he's writing next to the person that previously
• 40:26
  wrote well, he's.
• 40:27
Speaker 3: Writing, what's your name?
• 40:28
  Speaker 1: Yeah?
• 40:28
Speaker 3: He writes, yes, my name is Isaac.
• 40:31
Speaker 1: Yeah. He's following all that along with him, the stuff
• 40:33
before and now on the blank pages, he's seeing the response.
• 40:37
  Speaker 3: I see Okay.
• 40:38
Speaker 2: Today's episode is sponsored by Tushy. Over two million butts

• 41:52
Speaker 1: Thank you to Tushy for sponsoring this episode. Now let's
• 41:54
  get back to the story.
• 41:56
Speaker 2: I sat there and stunned silence for a few minutes,
• 41:59
rereading the page, tried to make sense of what had
• 42:01
just happened. I tried to remember what I had read
• 42:04
  on that page previously.
• 42:06
  Speaker 3: It would have.
• 42:06
Speaker 2: Definitely noticed if it had said my name before written there,
• 42:11
but here it was plain day. I tried to explain
• 42:14
it away as being me hastily reading over the pages,
• 42:18
heart pounding out of my chest.
• 42:19
Speaker 1: I wrote my own question, do you have a name?
• 42:22
Speaker 2: Turning the page, I remembered what it had said before,
• 42:25
which was still written there unimportant m M. So it
• 42:31
knew what he was going to say. No, that wasn't
• 42:34
  the previous owner.
• 42:36
Speaker 1: I'm thinking that that was the previous question she wrote
• 42:39
as well, and it's been left there is what? What is?
• 42:43
  What is?
• 42:44
  Speaker 3: What?
• 42:44
Speaker 1: I believe it to be where she saw this saying
• 42:46
  what's your name?
• 42:47
  Speaker 3: Who are you?
• 42:48
Speaker 1: And then the thing probably just put unimported see okay.
• 42:51
Speaker 2: Something about this made me slam the book shot even
• 42:54
though I knew what was written there, even though I
• 42:56
had just read it moments ago, I still wrote a
• 42:58
question and had written the answer before I even knew
• 43:01
I would ask. It felt like my own thoughts had
• 43:04
been peered into a personal and violating way. Took a
• 43:07
few minutes to calm down, try to rationalize what was
• 43:10
going on. Up until this point, I thought I'd been
• 43:14
conversing with Millie. Even the handwriting looked comparable to notes
• 43:17
I had seen written by her and her documentation. Nothing
• 43:21
could explain what was happening other than me misremembering what
• 43:24
was written. This was a rabbit hole I did not
• 43:27
want to go down anymore. After setting for a few moments,
• 43:30
I decided I should just read on and stop being
• 43:33
frightened of something that could be rationally explained. It had
• 43:36
to be rationally explained. Isaac was already written there, and
• 43:40
I had missed it in my hysteria. I had to
• 43:43
have unconsciously responded to the answer I'd written On the
• 43:46
next page. I opened the book again, flipped back to
• 43:49
the page I left on. Flipping forward to check the
• 43:52
next page did nothing to help my paranoia.
• 43:56
Speaker 3: Where are you putting past my anxiety? I wrote, Hello?
• 44:01
Speaker 1: Why is your name unimportant?
• 44:03
Speaker 3: I flipped the next page.
• 44:05
Speaker 1: That's good? Worse, Camille.
• 44:07
Speaker 2: This that old my stomach a little. This was entirely
• 44:10
indirect and seemed completely disconnected from my question.
• 44:13
Speaker 3: I've been parano about nothing. I decided to keep moving
• 44:17
  with this.
• 44:18
Speaker 1: I don't know Camille, who is she?
• 44:20
Speaker 3: Turning? The page The next was blank. This surprised me.
• 44:24
Speaker 2: I thought there'd be something written with how this book
• 44:27
had been filled up until now?
• 44:28
Speaker 3: So I turned again, How was your day?
• 44:31
  Speaker 1: Ben?
• 44:32
Speaker 2: At this point I was feeling a little less anxious
• 44:34
about everything. This was a far simpler and more disconnected
• 44:37
from the previous contact. I was more along the lines
• 44:39
of what I'd expect from a gimmick like this, So
• 44:43
  I wrote.
• 44:44
Speaker 1: My day was fine. I'm an investigator. I found this
• 44:47
journal in a burnt house earlier, Arson plus a missing person,
• 44:50
  A very unusual situation.
• 44:52
Speaker 2: Turning the page, I was puzzled for a moment. So
• 44:56
you do know, Camille, Hmmm, it's resting. Then I froze.
• 45:03
My heart started pounding again. This time it was pounding
• 45:06
so hard it began to hurt. The weight behind that
• 45:10
name felt like someone was pouring cement over every inch
• 45:13
  of my body.
• 45:14
Speaker 1: On the next page, I wrote a question Millie.
• 45:17
Speaker 2: Turning the page, I stumbled trying to get out of
• 45:20
my chair away from the book. Written on the next
• 45:23
page in the top left hand corner were the following words,
• 45:27
A very unusual situation. So yeah, now he's completely convined
• 45:32
that whatever this is on the other side, the book
• 45:34
is talking to him for that it or it's already
• 45:37
written the answers, and he's asking the questions to whoever
• 45:40
wrote in the book knew he would ask in.
• 45:42
Speaker 3: The future or something.
• 45:43
Speaker 2: Adrenaline surge through my body like I never experienced before,
• 45:46
nothing previously in my life even remotely compared to the
• 45:50
confusion a tread I felt in that moment.
• 45:52
Speaker 3: I could barely get air into my lungs.
• 45:54
Speaker 2: Reading just a few words of situation, I became much
• 45:56
bigger than I previously could have imagined. I thought long
• 45:59
and hard about whether I should continue other than what
• 46:03
this book was. My first question was why I had
• 46:05
not heard from anyone up until this point that Millie's
• 46:08
name was actually mill Even in documents, her first name
• 46:12
was recorded as Milly. Hen'ce why I hadn't connected the
• 46:15
dots the first time it came up. I was petrified.
• 46:18
Every part of my body was screaming at me to
• 46:20
stop this and run, And yet something in the back
• 46:24
of my psyche was screaming the opposite, that if I stopped,
• 46:28
something horrible would happen. That I needed to approach this
• 46:31
very cautiously and leave it very carefully. I set back
• 46:35
down and reread the sentence a few more times, trying
• 46:38
to convince myself there was a logical explanation. Unfortunately, this
• 46:42
was more direct than any coincidence could explain. I began
• 46:46
to run through the possible responses in my mind. Somehow
• 46:49
I got the feeling that I needed to get back
• 46:51
out of this unexpectedly present conversation in a way that
• 46:54
did not let on anything about how I was feeling lightheaded.
• 46:59
Speaker 1: I wrote, where are you from?
• 47:01
Speaker 3: S in all my will to keep my hand from shaking,
• 47:05
  somewhere close.
• 47:10
Speaker 2: I don't like that. That is oddly threatening, isn't it.
• 47:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, somewhere close. H ooh.
• 47:17
Speaker 1: It's a funner way than just being like I'm here
• 47:20
with you, because that feels too late. Yeah, somewhere close
• 47:23
  just feels so oddly threatening.
• 47:25
Speaker 3: It's like, what do you mean by that?
• 47:26
Speaker 2: Do you mean somewhere close, like as compared to earth
• 47:28
or as Yeah, it's comed to my bedroom that I'm
• 47:31
  just vague.
• 47:31
Speaker 1: It's just vague enough to be unsettling.
• 47:36
Speaker 2: This is a really fun concept, an investigator finding a
• 47:39
book that he's talking to effectively. Also, like we clown
• 47:43
on stories sometimes for like having their characters to be
• 47:46
too dramatic in scenarios like I stood up, I jumped,
• 47:48
I freaked out and stuff. But I feel like with
• 47:50
how grounded the story was in its intro of him
• 47:53
being an investigator, I feel like this is a logical,
• 47:56
like him jumping up and like pushing himself against the
• 47:59
wall and stuff. I feel like that is a thing
• 48:01
you would do if you realized a book was talking
• 48:03
  to you.
• 48:04
Speaker 1: Well, there's a difference between overacting and simply acting. The
• 48:07
story has propped up this thing now to where the
• 48:09
story feels, the character feels lived in, and then now
• 48:11
we're getting to like get these visual representations of his
• 48:14
like physical state along with his mental state. Because it's
• 48:17
one thing to just be like I was petrified, but
• 48:19
then to have it be able to explain a character
• 48:21
like getting up and pacing around a room, like you
• 48:23
can hear his footsteps in your head as you're reading this,
• 48:26
you know, those those things add to the story and
• 48:29
the like kind of bravado and the tension that's happening,
• 48:32
  you know, because.
• 48:33
  Speaker 3: You need to.
• 48:33
Speaker 1: It's also patting it like it is. If it would
• 48:35
it'd be different if it was back to back to back,
• 48:37
all these different quotes, but these little descriptors give us
• 48:40
a nice breather between them, and they are it's just
• 48:42
building anticipation, which is really fun.
• 48:45
Speaker 3: Mm hmm. Something about these words felt more threatening than before.
• 48:49
Speaker 1: What did Camille say to you before she left?
• 48:52
Speaker 2: If I could use this situation to help Millie somehow,
• 48:54
then maybe something good come of everything going on the
• 48:58
wrong question, that's fun, that's cool, I shuddered slightly. What
• 49:07
did that mean? What constitutes a wrong question? I worried
• 49:11
I'd make the same mistake if I asked. Between each response,
• 49:15
I had to think deeply about the consequences of what
• 49:17
I was asking. I thought it would make sense to
• 49:19
ask something completely unrelated to anything.
• 49:21
Speaker 1: That have been mentioned so far, what is the day today?
• 49:25
Speaker 2: Flipping the page gave a response that ate away at
• 49:27
my curiosity again. The next page was filled with what
• 49:30
looked to be a series of shapes to lines being
• 49:33
made up of the same characters at the start of
• 49:35
the book, and the language I did not understand. Buddy,
• 49:37
that's the reason question. That's the wrong question. You ask
• 49:44
a question and it's just like yeah, so.
• 49:47
Speaker 1: I'm not going yeah, if you if you fucking asked
• 49:49
a question, And then the stupid ass Pokemon that are
• 49:51
like weird hieroglyphics whenever start floating around. You know, you're fucked, dude, Yeah,
• 49:56
why I better ask him something straight up and he
• 49:58
  just responds back like that.
• 50:04
Speaker 2: That's such a funny way to describe like non Euclidean geometry,
• 50:09
Like oh no, the pokemon again.
• 50:11
  Speaker 3: You know what?
• 50:12
Speaker 1: You know what Pokemon talking about? What the fuck were
• 50:13
  those called Oregon?
• 50:15
Speaker 3: Is that what you're talking about? One that it's like
• 50:18
made up of shapes, the digital one.
• 50:21
Speaker 2: I thought you were just referring to, like the demon
• 50:23
was drawing and like ununderstood hieroglyphics and like geometry, and
• 50:28
you're like, oh, yeah, the Pokemon.
• 50:31
Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, it's this.
• 50:32
Speaker 1: Look here, I'm posting it in the I'll send to you.
• 50:36
And I don't know. I don't know Pokemon enough to know,
• 50:38
but I remember when I was younger, these guys were
• 50:40
in there. I'm saying, these little motherfuckers.
• 50:43
Speaker 2: Oh are those pokemon? Yeah, the ones that are just shape.
• 50:47
  I mean, we'll show a picture. But I don't know
• 50:49
what you call those. I don't know what they're sucking.
• 50:52
Speaker 3: They do kind of look like that, don't they. That
• 50:54
is that's not a bad that's not a bad guess.
• 50:59
Speaker 1: Oh are they just called unknown? They might just be
• 51:01
  called unknown?
• 51:03
Speaker 2: Uh Oh, that's the wrong question. Bad decision, mark Ooh
• 51:12
would you ask what's the day? And it starts because
• 51:14
it's not going by like the Gregorian calendar or the
• 51:16
  Julian calendar or whatever.
• 51:18
Speaker 3: It's just like pulling you straight back from time. It
• 51:22
  was poorly sketching.
• 51:23
Speaker 2: Charcoal, and even if I could read the language, the
• 51:25
characters were so smudge that it seemed unlikely to be legible.
• 51:28
Speaker 1: I don't understand whatever you wrote there? Could you write
• 51:31
  it in English?
• 51:32
Speaker 2: As long as I kept the conversation moving in a
• 51:34
mundane direction, I figured I could end it after a while.
• 51:38
As though I had enjoyed the chat nd go. Turning
• 51:41
the page, I was slightly confused by the answer where
• 51:44
are you from? The question itself was fairly clear. The
• 51:48
confusing part was that this response was in my handwriting.
• 51:53
  Speaker 1: Wh what weird?
• 51:56
Speaker 2: It's stealing his handwriting to be like, this is what
• 51:58
  you're supposed to ask?
• 51:59
Speaker 3: Is that what it's doing? Oh? Sure? I decided to lie.
• 52:04
Speaker 2: Given whatever this was, any information about myself was definitely
• 52:08
  not in my best interest.
• 52:09
Speaker 1: I'm from Europe? What about you?
• 52:12
Speaker 2: And I realized I had just effectively asked the same
• 52:15
question from earlier. Seeing as asking these questions seemed to
• 52:18
agitate it, my anxiety spiked immensely.
• 52:22
Speaker 3: Turning the page, my breath left my lungs.
• 52:25
Speaker 2: I know who you are, so earlier he asked it
• 52:29
  where are you from?
• 52:31
Speaker 3: And it did it?
• 52:31
Speaker 2: It said somewhere near and uh, He's like, I don't
• 52:35
like that, so he tries to take it somewhere else.
• 52:37
Then it like copy paste his question again where are
• 52:40
you from? And in responding to himself, he accidentally once again.
• 52:44
Speaker 3: Says what about you? He asked once again where are
• 52:47
  you from?
• 52:48
Speaker 2: Basically, and it responds with I know who you are
• 52:50
again like a vaguely threatening answer.
• 52:53
Speaker 1: Do you think that it's like a version of himself?
• 52:56
You know what I mean? Because the thing slowly become like,
• 52:59
not that it's coming him, but could he be talking
• 53:01
to an alternate reality version of himself or something or
• 53:04
something that's taking the shape of him, like somewhere close
• 53:08
  to me.
• 53:09
  Speaker 2: I think it's a This feels more like a demon
• 53:12
or entity because it's historic, right, it's like some.
• 53:14
Speaker 1: Well sure if I still tradition, I still think something
• 53:16
could be taking his likeness or something, because the whole
• 53:19
idea too, that Milly is gone or something. It could
• 53:23
the handwriting thing threw me off like it was in
• 53:25
  his handwriting.
• 53:26
  Speaker 2: I don't know, Well, that's because that's the exact same
• 53:29
  thing he asked earlier.
• 53:31
Speaker 3: So it's just like taking it and then or haz
• 53:33
hated it on a page later. Yeah.
• 53:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, what little calum I had begun to experience in
• 53:37
this situation immediately left me. Asking anything relating to whatever
• 53:41
I was talking with seemed to bring about a sense
• 53:43
that it did not want me to diging any deeper.
• 53:47
Maybe that's what happened to Milly. Maybe she asked too
• 53:49
many questions about whatever this was. I decided not to
• 53:53
respond to this. If I left it blank, maybe it
• 53:55
would move on. Fortunately, it's very wrong. On the next
• 53:59
page there was not handwriting, but rather a drawing charcoal sketch,
• 54:06
similar to the ones I had seen earlier in the book.
• 54:08
This time it was not so much like the others.
• 54:11
It was a clear sketch of a street lined with houses.
• 54:15
Turning the page again there was another sketch. The sketch
• 54:19
was just a single house, not just any house, though
• 54:23
  it was my house.
• 54:26
Speaker 3: Oh no, In a panic, I turned the page again.
• 54:30
Speaker 2: The next sketch was a close up of the right
• 54:32
side of my front lawn where you could see my
• 54:35
office window. Oh god, damn, the office I was in.
• 54:39
I did not want to turn the page again. My
• 54:42
mind was screaming at me to stop here. My body
• 54:46
moved so it were acting on its own. I turned
• 54:49
the page again. I screamed as I heard what sounded
• 54:53
like something heavy and wet hit the window behind me
• 54:56
so hard I'm surprised to class didn't shatter.
• 55:00
Speaker 3: I turned to the window.
• 55:02
Speaker 2: By the grace of God, I had my curtained shut
• 55:04
to call of my willpower to look away.
• 55:06
Speaker 3: But I turned back to the book. This time.
• 55:10
Speaker 2: The sketch was from the perspective just outside my office window.
• 55:15
You could clearly see a crew drawing to me, turned
• 55:17
towards the reader, as if looking over my shoulder at
• 55:21
the window. Something was there and it could see me.
• 55:25
I did not know what to do. At this point,
• 55:27
I felt as though my sanity was leaving me. I
• 55:30
quietly rolled out of my chair. Some deep, unrecognizable voice
• 55:34
within my mind began to call me towards the window.
• 55:37
Feeling wasn't just a pull. It was a lustful desire,
• 55:41
like I had to go towards the window, as though
• 55:43
it had some untold pleasure ready for me. When I
• 55:46
got there, I walked towards it slowly, each half of
• 55:49
my brain fighting the other so abdly. My head began
• 55:52
to pound with an indescribable pain. I felt like my
• 55:55
mind was going to be torn apart. So I got
• 55:58
to the window. I sat there. The fear had gone
• 56:01
strong enough that I was able to at least stop
• 56:04
myself from opening the curtains. Now that I was right
• 56:07
in front of the window, I could hear a faint,
• 56:09
continuous hum coming from the glass, so though a steady
• 56:13
tone was vibrating it, I could also fill a warmth
• 56:17
like I never felt before. The only thing I could
• 56:20
compare it to would be a combination of as if
• 56:23
I had been embraced by my soulmate for the first
• 56:26
time and simultaneously had scolding desert sand thrown across the
• 56:29
front of my body. Wherever the warmth touched, all at once.
• 56:33
Pain brought me to my senses. I began to cry.
• 56:36
I was so frightened, tears running down my eyes. I
• 56:39
backed away from the window. I backed up, not taking
• 56:43
my eyes off it until I got back to my desk.
• 56:46
Speaker 3: I mustered up the courage to look away. Saw that
• 56:49
the drawing had changed. It was the same in position,
• 56:53
but it depicted me in front of the window as
• 56:56
  I was just moments ago.
• 56:57
Speaker 2: I don't know what struck my instincts into action, but
• 57:01
After a moment of contemplation, I took the left hand
• 57:03
page and turned back to the previous page. As I
• 57:07
did so, I heard the hum die away and the tingling,
• 57:11
painful warmth fade. I dared not turn to look. Stead
• 57:16
I continue to turn back the pages one by one.
• 57:21
I watched the sketches zoom further from my house until
• 57:24
I got to a page with text.
• 57:26
Speaker 3: It's not the page that was there originally.
• 57:29
  Speaker 1: Where are you?
• 57:30
Speaker 2: This was written across both pages in large, sprawling, charcoal texts.
• 57:34
At this point, I had determined that by continuing I
• 57:38
would be in more danger than anything that could happen
• 57:41
to me if I closed the book, So I did
• 57:43
just that. I closed it immediately. The headache, anxiety, and
• 57:47
adrenaline had been pumping through every vein in my body disappeared.
• 57:51
My body relaxed, as though it knew that it just
• 57:54
narrowly escaped some unknown horror. I waited my chair, silently,
• 57:58
watching the windows and doors of my room for what
• 58:01
I have to assume was ours, because by the time
• 58:04
I left my room it was light again outside. Very
• 58:07
cautiously wrapped the book and the towel I had set
• 58:09
  under it earlier.
• 58:10
Speaker 3: Headed to my front door.
• 58:12
Speaker 2: After stepping outside, nervously approached the window to my office
• 58:15
to see what was there. On the window there was
• 58:18
what looked to be dried, dark chunky blood and burnt
• 58:22
skin left behind from whatever was pressed against it. It
• 58:25
resembled the imprint of a face with skin hanging off
• 58:29
of it pressed up against the glass. Saginum is shapen.
• 58:34
Just thinking about what would have happened if I'd open
• 58:35
that window made me feel ill. I'd a shovel in
• 58:38
my car already, which is an unfortunate necessity and more
• 58:42
unsavory missing persons cases. I drove for a very very
• 58:46
long time. Strangely, I encountered nothing strange. The whole time
• 58:51
I drove from the town. I was into one of
• 58:53
  the deepest rural hikes.
• 58:54
Speaker 3: I know in Oregon.
• 58:56
Speaker 2: It's been an hour digging a deep hole, the heart
• 58:58
racing the entire time, and I bare the book there.
• 59:01
Now some of you might be wondering why I didn't
• 59:04
just burn the book. I have a good reason. Under
• 59:07
what circumstances had only gone missing? What string of events
• 59:10
preceded her disappearance, A string of fires and a string
• 59:13
of disappearances. I believe I'm not the first one to
• 59:17
have this experience. I fear that if I tried to
• 59:19
burn the book, I will become another missing person's case.
• 59:23
I instead successfully buried that book somewhere nobody will ever
• 59:26
find it. I do not plan on trying to remember
• 59:28
where I chose. This wasn't already strange enough. Just yesterday
• 59:32
some new information came to light. I tried continuing to
• 59:36
find Millie despite all that had happened. This is a
• 59:38
human being we're talking about. I tried to set the
• 59:42
past few weeks without involving myself any further, but I
• 59:45
just couldn't sit knowing she could be alive somewhere along
• 59:48
with the rest of those people. So I decided to
• 59:52
involve myself in the case again, even without the book.
• 59:55
Yesterday morning, when I called the police department, however, I
• 59:59
was shocked to learn that nobody knew what I was
• 1:00:01
talking about. There's no missing person's case. In fact, there
• 1:00:05
were no missing person cases at all. But still, the
• 1:00:08
fires had been in vacant houses and were determined to
• 1:00:11
be electrical issues across the board.
• 1:00:14
  Speaker 3: Even strangers.
• 1:00:14
Speaker 2: Still, I called the private client, who was supposedly close
• 1:00:17
family to Millie. They asked how I got in their number,
• 1:00:19
and even worse, stated that their younger sister, Camill, had
• 1:00:23
died at a very young age from an illness, and
• 1:00:26
went as far as to hang up on me when
• 1:00:28
I tried to ask further. I don't know what's going on.
• 1:00:31
If anyone has any advice, I'll take it. I don't
• 1:00:34
believe Milly died as a young girl, and I believe
• 1:00:36
she and others might still be suffering somewhere out there.
• 1:00:39
Speaker 3: Something about the warm keeps replaying in my dreams.
• 1:00:42
Speaker 2: The lust and pain I felt just being near whoever
• 1:00:45
that thing was at the window can only lead me
• 1:00:48
to wonder what horrible experiences they might be going through
• 1:00:52
right now, like a twisted version of being drowned after
• 1:00:55
following a siren's call. For now, though, I'm going to sleep,
• 1:01:00
I'm done with journals. I'm hoping I can put all
• 1:01:03
  of this behind me.
• 1:01:05
Speaker 3: Man, Bravo, that was awesome. That was great.
• 1:01:09
Speaker 1: Wow, what a great, what a great story. First off, two, well,
• 1:01:12
let's get into question time. Do you think that do
• 1:01:16
you think that the whatever entity this was, could that
• 1:01:19
have been Milly on the other side of some sort.
• 1:01:23
Speaker 2: No, I think what it is is there is a
• 1:01:27
demon or some age. It said she was reading like
• 1:01:30
old Greek mythology, So like some ancient demon or god
• 1:01:33
or whatever that's tied to this book that you can
• 1:01:36
communicate with. There might, actually, I'm not that familiar with
• 1:01:38
Greek mythology, there might be a myth in Greek tradition
• 1:01:42
about like something you talk through a book for all
• 1:01:44
I know. But whatever it was is something that people
• 1:01:50
can communicate with by writing on the page, and it
• 1:01:52
gives them an answer, and it eventually beckons them to it.
• 1:01:55
Like he said, it was on the other side of
• 1:01:56
the window, and even though he was terrified, he felt drawn,
• 1:02:00
  he felt compelled.
• 1:02:00
Speaker 3: To go open it.
• 1:02:01
Speaker 2: And if you do open it, I think it takes
• 1:02:03
you away potentially, or you just see the previous victim
• 1:02:07
of it or something like that, uh, and it erases
• 1:02:11
you from history. That would also explain why all of
• 1:02:14
the answers are like a race like in the same way,
• 1:02:17
  everyone who's interacted.
• 1:02:19
  Speaker 3: With it's gone.
• 1:02:19
Speaker 2: And there was a string of house fires, so perhaps,
• 1:02:21
as he implies at the end, people tried to burn
• 1:02:23
it and then instead everything around it burned besides the book,
• 1:02:27
and maybe the person burned with it. But it seems
• 1:02:30
that whoever interacts with it is ripped out of history.
• 1:02:32
And that's why I don't know why he would have
• 1:02:34
  got the name Milli wrong.
• 1:02:36
Speaker 3: Maybe Milli is like, well.
• 1:02:39
Speaker 1: I thought that Millie was actually was a part of
• 1:02:41
well that was he said, that was the name that
• 1:02:43
  was on the report.
• 1:02:44
  Speaker 3: Yeah, and then.
• 1:02:45
Speaker 1: Camille was the actual name. But he's like, I never
• 1:02:47
thought to connect them because on the actual report, Milly
• 1:02:50
was the one written. If that's what you mean, yeah,
• 1:02:52
I wonder what that could be.
• 1:02:53
Speaker 2: Maybe Milli is like the name the demon uses or
• 1:02:56
something like that, and it just picked him to be
• 1:02:59
its next victim. And then the reason he was asking
• 1:03:01
about Camill is Kmil was the last person in line
• 1:03:03
who had the book. Yeah, he's speaking to some ancient
• 1:03:08
and well, I think Camill is Milly. Well it is,
• 1:03:12
but I'm saying, like, why would it use the name
• 1:03:14
Milly if every other instance its name's Camil. Because he
• 1:03:17
sees that, like Milly is the name of like, oh,
• 1:03:19
this is the missing person. But he says it's on
• 1:03:21
all the official documentation. But then after this experience with
• 1:03:24
the book's over, they don't know a Millie. They know
• 1:03:26
a Camill. It seems that Milly was just an alias
• 1:03:29
for some reason that was written on everything. Oh yeah,
• 1:03:33
So I don't know where that connection comes from.
• 1:03:35
Speaker 1: But the story did a lot of really good things.
• 1:03:38
One thing it did very well was I think it's
• 1:03:40
set up a very fun uh like. I like the
• 1:03:44
idea of like an Arson, the guy basically trying to
• 1:03:46
solve a mystery case in this weird arson uh basically
• 1:03:52
like this weird Arson case where he finds this book
• 1:03:54
it's very weird. He kind of takes it even though
• 1:03:55
he shouldn't, and then he is tempted by it the
• 1:03:58
same way that all the other victims have. It also
• 1:04:00
does a good job by like because in movies people
• 1:04:03
do dumb things because that's conflict, and you need conflict
• 1:04:06
for story. There is no conflict, there is no story,
• 1:04:09
so that's why people do it. But I do think,
• 1:04:11
for like a Reddit post horror story where someone's like
• 1:04:13
talking to us as if it's like an r slash
• 1:04:15
no sleep, it's fun that the guy rejects that like
• 1:04:20
  temptation at the end, like it's it's it's It's a
• 1:04:23
very satisfying thing for the character to be smart. But
• 1:04:26
I think the most effective thing the story did was
• 1:04:28
building anticipation, uh, in just so many great ways, like
• 1:04:34
pacing around. It really took its time with all of
• 1:04:37
the things. Because it it did it like had a
• 1:04:41
new fun way of like basically combining like that fucking
• 1:04:45
book and Harry Potter mixed with like an ecronomicon. Like
• 1:04:48
it kind of like had like it's a new fun
• 1:04:50
take on that onto this like kind of stereotypical trope
• 1:04:55
of like evil book with you know, ancient text in
• 1:04:58
it that summons an evil spirit of some kind. I
• 1:05:01
think that it played with that really well, but also
• 1:05:03
too just like the subtlety of how it was, you know,
• 1:05:06
the you know, it didn't go overboard on like you know,
• 1:05:08
because the creature could have said something like yeah, the
• 1:05:11
creature the thing could have like you know, been saying
• 1:05:15
all this horrible shit or like horrifying stuff, but it
• 1:05:17
was all very subtle and simple and that within.
• 1:05:19
Speaker 3: Itself somewhere and it built it.
• 1:05:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, it built that dread. And then the charcoal drawing
• 1:05:26
was really fun too, have like you like see these
• 1:05:28
sketches being made of someone outside your house and stuff,
• 1:05:31
just a lot of fun like, I really really enjoyed
• 1:05:34
this one man, and I think too great length, Like
• 1:05:37
it wasn't too short, It wasn't too long. It was
• 1:05:39
just this nice, solid story and I lost a little
• 1:05:43
of my innocence in it as well, So I think
• 1:05:45
  that's fantastic.
• 1:05:46
Speaker 3: Okay, I'm glad that you're still incorporating that.
• 1:05:49
Speaker 1: Time love, loss of innocence love it. That was awesome, though.
• 1:05:52
We'll be sure, like I said, we have all the
• 1:05:54
stories in the description of this as well, But that was.
• 1:05:58
Speaker 3: A ray Raymond come back.
• 1:06:02
Speaker 2: If that was your only post ever, keep doing, keep writing.
• 1:06:06
Speaker 1: We miss you, we need you consequence level seven eight
• 1:06:09
  seven seven.
• 1:06:11
  Speaker 2: Uh.
• 1:06:11
Speaker 1: The next story is by only a Blur and it's
• 1:06:14
called I've discovered a book that does not end two
• 1:06:17
book stories, two book fair. So go ahead, let's say
• 1:06:23
two be fair. We did not know that the missing
• 1:06:25
person story was going to be primarily a book story,
• 1:06:27
  but here we are.
• 1:06:28
Speaker 3: Yes, that was convenience.
• 1:06:29
Speaker 2: So the author Only a Blur goes by Brandon Uh,
• 1:06:33
and they seem to they post in our slash screep
• 1:06:35
cast a lot. We were there number two most listened
• 1:06:38
to podcasts last year. I don't know why we weren't
• 1:06:40
  number one, but that's okay.
• 1:06:42
  Speaker 1: What's the first?
• 1:06:44
Speaker 2: Well to counter that, the first is the official podcast
• 1:06:47
with you know, the the Gang, So number three with
• 1:06:51
Red Thread, which was the show I was on.
• 1:06:53
Speaker 3: So yeah, I don't know why I could cast.
• 1:06:56
Speaker 1: And he's a big fan of yours, then.
• 1:07:00
Speaker 2: It seems yeah. He also he bought our merch. He
• 1:07:03
bought the last creep Cast drop. According to this picture
• 1:07:06
of him, he posted our slash creep Cast a lot,
• 1:07:08
so he seems to be a fan. And he also
• 1:07:10
posts our slash BoJack Horseman, so you know, peek recognized.
• 1:07:13
Speaker 3: Very cool, very cool of you. But so it seems
• 1:07:17
he started writing this previous year.
• 1:07:20
Speaker 2: So so he started posting in our slash creep Cast,
• 1:07:22
and then after that he started.
• 1:07:23
  Speaker 3: Posting short stories.
• 1:07:25
Speaker 2: He's posted a couple to No Sleep and our Slash
• 1:07:29
Horror Stories, one called the regular at My Bar Won't
• 1:07:32
Stop coming in, And he also posted that one to
• 1:07:35
creep Cast as well. That one seems to be doing well,
• 1:07:39
but the one we're reading, I discovered a book that
• 1:07:40
does not end. It seems he posted to no Sleep
• 1:07:43
and then it got taken off of No Sleep. Oh
• 1:07:47
classic no Sleep fashion. So we are going to be
• 1:07:51
reading this, So after that one got to lead from
• 1:07:53
No Sleep. He then posted his stories over to our
• 1:07:55
slash Creek cast, and so now the story we're reading
• 1:07:58
today was taken off of no probably because is it
• 1:08:00
you know, doesn't it gives like the full name of
• 1:08:03
a fictional character or something like that. So but yes,
• 1:08:08
posted by Brandon only only a month ago. So it
• 1:08:11
seems that he's got a thing for writing getting into it.
• 1:08:13
So hopefully I love it, is good, and we don't
• 1:08:16
make too much fun of it, and you continue, right,
• 1:08:19
  I love it.
• 1:08:20
Speaker 1: Nice new author. Let's see what he has here, dude. Also,
• 1:08:23
I want to say that I like the name of
• 1:08:25
the title. It's a nice hook. So let's see if
• 1:08:27
the hook has a little bit of bait on it
• 1:08:29
  for Daddy.
• 1:08:31
Speaker 3: Well, I didn't like the way that you weren't.
• 1:08:33
Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't like it was unpleasant after it, I.
• 1:08:37
Speaker 2: Think calling fans of the show or preferring to yourself
• 1:08:41
as Daddy when talking to them.
• 1:08:43
Speaker 1: Okay, well I meant okay, that that was a bit
• 1:08:46
I didn't mean too. That was a bit of an overstep.
• 1:08:48
  I'm sorry.
• 1:08:50
Speaker 2: Okay, Well, as long as you know that all right,
• 1:08:53
I've discovered a book that does not end by Brandon
• 1:08:55
also known as only a Blur. Most of my life
• 1:08:58
I have been considered a bookworm by the people around
• 1:09:00
me in my life. Always loved reading, ever since my
• 1:09:03
eleventh grade English teacher assigned us to read Blood Meridian
• 1:09:06
by Kormick McCarthy. Okay, all right, well, I feel like
• 1:09:08
  I'm all right.
• 1:09:11
  Speaker 1: I wonder if he's I wonder if he's a fan
• 1:09:13
  of yours.
• 1:09:14
Speaker 2: Well, my I've talked multiple times that my eleventh grade
• 1:09:17
English teacher assigned The Road by Cormick McCarthy.
• 1:09:23
Speaker 3: Did you see that? Did give that story multiple times?
• 1:09:26
Speaker 2: And I know for a fact that English teacher was
• 1:09:28
not assigning Blood Meridian, that's for sure.
• 1:09:32
Speaker 1: I like the uh did I saw you responded to
• 1:09:36
that tweet that was like a yeah, I mean, it's
• 1:09:38
not that I dislike Windygon, but I hate that this
• 1:09:42
character is like a creepy like that he's like a
• 1:09:44
what is it a creepy pasta character people judge as
• 1:09:50
if as if that's your fault, like in any way
• 1:09:53
  or whatever.
• 1:09:55
Speaker 2: So that's kind of uh, not to go on too
• 1:09:58
much of a tangent, but I almost see both sides
• 1:10:01
of it, because has there ever been something you've been
• 1:10:04
really inchely interested in that gets popular really quick and
• 1:10:08
the tone around it kind of changes, you know.
• 1:10:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I think, like to be fair, because you
• 1:10:16
use that image, right, that's like that was kind of
• 1:10:19
  a popular image.
• 1:10:20
Speaker 2: But I just think that it's the image of Judge
• 1:10:21
hold me like that, yeah, the pain video.
• 1:10:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, so like that's just that's also just a prime
• 1:10:29
meme kind of image, you know what I mean, like
• 1:10:32
it almost yeah, I don't know, like you have an
• 1:10:34
image like that, it's going to take shape and it's
• 1:10:36
going to like breed new life, especially because you're I
• 1:10:38
mean that's so well too, so like that's it's less
• 1:10:41
about even people understanding and more so that it's just
• 1:10:44
a great simple image that you can like kind of
• 1:10:46
repurpose because it's not that it's too detailed. You can
• 1:10:49
  kind of like redraw it.
• 1:10:51
  Speaker 3: You know.
• 1:10:51
Speaker 1: It's almost like fucking when what is it? Pepe the
• 1:10:54
Frog got taken over? Yeah, just it just evolves and
• 1:10:57
transforms into whatever the fuck people are gonna run with that,
• 1:11:00
  you know.
• 1:11:01
  Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think I think there's a there's a
• 1:11:03
balance with it because like, for Judge Holten's a good example.
• 1:11:07
So a lot of people maybe seeing that image before
• 1:11:09
and stuff like that, but they hadn't and maybe they
• 1:11:11
heard of Blood Meridian, but they weren't familiar with the story.
• 1:11:13
Speaker 3: They weren't familiar with the concepts.
• 1:11:14
Speaker 2: And I read the book, really liked it, wanted to
• 1:11:16
talk about it, so I talk about it. And I
• 1:11:19
don't think I'm the sole reason that Blood Writian got
• 1:11:21
  more popular online.
• 1:11:22
  Speaker 3: I think Corbett.
• 1:11:23
Speaker 2: McCarthy's death also ledge a bunch of people checking it
• 1:11:25
out and stuff like that. But I certainly was a
• 1:11:28
piece in the puzzle a blood writing and gaining popularity.
• 1:11:33
Speaker 3: And or at least in online spaces.
• 1:11:36
Speaker 2: It was obviously a popular book beforehand, just a lot
• 1:11:38
of you know, younger audiences weren't familiar with it, sure,
• 1:11:42
And I think when that happened, a lot of people
• 1:11:48
kind of started to perceive it the way they do
• 1:11:51
other stories, like, oh, creepy character, heavy, intense moments, all
• 1:11:55
the you know, kind of like dramatic, bloody moments from
• 1:11:59
the book. And they started to kind of not dumb
• 1:12:03
down but summarize a lot of Judge Holden's actions is
• 1:12:06
a big, scary, evil man in the Old West, right, and.
• 1:12:11
  Speaker 3: Because of.
• 1:12:13
Speaker 1: You know, greed and all that other kind of shah.
• 1:12:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, when you read Blood Meridian, it's almost like Judge
• 1:12:20
Holden is a spirit of sort. I mean, obviously he's
• 1:12:23
real in the book, but the way it's described is
• 1:12:25
you have this bloody gang of like a headhunters, and
• 1:12:29
there's this one figure in them that completely sands in
• 1:12:32
contrast of everything else in the desert, like they are
• 1:12:34
all these The book goes to great links to describe
• 1:12:37
how hairy and like dirty the guys are, but he's
• 1:12:40
pristine and hairless, towering above the rest of them. It's
• 1:12:43
almost like having the Grim Reaper in camp with you,
• 1:12:46
and a lot of the symbolism around him drawn from
• 1:12:48
like Lucifer and like figures of death and Greek mythology
• 1:12:52
and stuff like that. So he's almost otherworldly, like he's
• 1:12:56
too terrible to exist. And when you distill that character
• 1:13:01
down to creepy, scary man who you know is like
• 1:13:05
a pedophile or whatever, you lose a lot of the
• 1:13:07
weight of what that character is. Yeah, and I understand
• 1:13:11
that by me making the video, it became more popular,
• 1:13:15
so people started to talk about that's frustrating, and that's
• 1:13:17
fair criticism. But some people take that further and say
• 1:13:21
that my presentation or the way I talked about Judge
• 1:13:25
Holden was the dumbing it down, and I disagree with that.
• 1:13:28
I think in a lot of my stuff or like
• 1:13:30
in that video I talked at links about the stuff
• 1:13:34
I just said about his you know, determination of being evil,
• 1:13:37
but also like kind of the greater cultural context arounding it.
• 1:13:42
Like I saw one not to just like one get
• 1:13:44
one guide, but I saw one person talking about my stuff,
• 1:13:48
and it's like, well, I don't think wend Goon did
• 1:13:50
a good job talking about like how the story is
• 1:13:54
a big piece about like the evils that were done
• 1:13:56
to natives and you know, during this time in history.
• 1:13:59
But I talk to my video that if Judge Holden
• 1:14:02
is like this agent of death, or if he's the
• 1:14:04
devil himself, then he has seated himself in the most
• 1:14:06
violent place on earth, which is the headhunters of the
• 1:14:09
early American West. And I think in that statement, like
• 1:14:12
I feel like in my video presentation, I did an
• 1:14:16
honest effort at making Judge Holden, the personification of him
• 1:14:20
legitimate to the way he is in the book and
• 1:14:22
if people took that and dumbed it down, I understand
• 1:14:25
the frustration, But also in the most careful way I
• 1:14:29
can say this, it's not my fault that people, you know,
• 1:14:33
took the character and then made it into sort of
• 1:14:36
a meme or something like that. But at the same time,
• 1:14:38
I understand being upset that because of my video, the
• 1:14:41
character got dumbed down, if that makes sense. This has
• 1:14:44
nothing to do with the video or the podcast or anything.
• 1:14:46
I just thoughts have been in my head. I haven't
• 1:14:48
had a place to talk about him yet.
• 1:14:49
Speaker 1: But no, no, I didn't. I think that it's justifiable. Also,
• 1:14:52
  the same time you.
• 1:14:53
  Speaker 2: Made a video about a subject you're passionate about, I
• 1:14:56
think you did a good job covering it. The video
• 1:14:59
also went stupid viral, and you're gonna have people that
• 1:15:02
saw that who share that interest as well across the internet. Internet,
• 1:15:06
  and it gets filtered.
• 1:15:07
Speaker 1: Time and time again through these conversations to where there
• 1:15:09
probably are people who use that image or imagery or
• 1:15:12
do whatever and have no idea where it comes from.
• 1:15:15
You know, That's that's just also meme culture. That's just
• 1:15:18
the way that shit evolves and stuff like that. It
• 1:15:21
is what it is. I do think though, that like
• 1:15:23
the descriptors of death, because every time that I saw
• 1:15:25
the original painting of it always made me think of
• 1:15:27
the grim Reaper from A Seventh Seal. Yeah you did. Yeah,
• 1:15:31
just that kind of like, you know, just a pale
• 1:15:33
faced kind of thing. But anyways, it's just prime also
• 1:15:35
because it's a perfect for that meme edit of like creepy,
• 1:15:39
weird smile. It's kind of funny. Yeah, it's also settling
• 1:15:43
and odd. You know, it's simple and it's like lowbrow
• 1:15:46
and it's approach. It's a fucking awesome painting. It just rules.
• 1:15:49
Uh so, yeah, I don't know it is what it is.
• 1:15:52
I just thought it was funny, you know, or I
• 1:15:53
just thought it was It's it's always interesting the conversations
• 1:15:57
people bring up in the discourse it causes. It's it's always,
• 1:16:01
uh it's interesting what people decide to uh, I guess
• 1:16:07
talk about or you know, some people get I say upset,
• 1:16:10
but who knows. I mean it's over text. But it's
• 1:16:12
just something where it's like I who who cares? I
• 1:16:16
don't know, just think I think.
• 1:16:18
Speaker 2: I mean, like I agree with you for the most part,
• 1:16:21
you know, the who cares saying, but I also understand
• 1:16:24
having like it. Honestly, after seeing like the judge get
• 1:16:27
dumb down to you know, as the tweet said, creepypasta characters,
• 1:16:30
  that is frustrating.
• 1:16:31
Speaker 3: That does annoy me because I think he's so much
• 1:16:32
  more than the story.
• 1:16:33
Speaker 2: I think he represents them, of course, But at the
• 1:16:35
same time, I'm not gonna stop covering stuff like that
• 1:16:39
because for what I'm passionate about it, I enjoy stories,
• 1:16:41
and I enjoy when they're done well talking about how
• 1:16:43
they're done well, but also because I feel like one
• 1:16:48
of the biggest issues that cause characters like that to
• 1:16:52
be perceived in a dumb down way is because we
• 1:16:56
often just hand people dumb down.
• 1:16:57
Speaker 3: Stories, right like I not.
• 1:17:00
Speaker 2: Just you two, but in like, you know, the way
• 1:17:02
kids are talked to in school, in high school and
• 1:17:04
stuff like that, they're given the most milk toast interpretation
• 1:17:07
  of things.
• 1:17:08
Speaker 3: They're not really encouraged to dig into art.
• 1:17:10
Speaker 2: One of the reasons I love stories so much is,
• 1:17:11
as this guy referenced in the eleventh grade, my English
• 1:17:14
teacher taught us the road and he taught it with passion.
• 1:17:17
And I heard that, I was like, wow, I want
• 1:17:19
to learn more stories like that. So at the same time,
• 1:17:22
when you know, people take the judge and then they
• 1:17:25
kind of dumb it down. We have this guy who
• 1:17:27
started writing short stories after he read our slash screep
• 1:17:30
cast and he makes a reference to Blood Meridian in there,
• 1:17:34
and now he's writing his own story.
• 1:17:35
Speaker 3: So for every negative way people.
• 1:17:39
Speaker 2: Interpret stories, who take them and then spread them across
• 1:17:41
their Internet, there's other people who hear it, learn about it,
• 1:17:45
and then are impressed to go about with their own things.
• 1:17:48
So yeah, I don't regret making that video to any
• 1:17:51
regard because for any amount of danage it did, a
• 1:17:53
bunch of people learned about Blood Meridian and they learned
• 1:17:55
about the Judge in ernest and I think that's I
• 1:17:57
think that's invaluable to teach people, I know, sorry, to
• 1:18:01
  help show people.
• 1:18:02
Speaker 3: About art and about what's out there. I don't think that.
• 1:18:05
Speaker 1: I don't think that there's any real damage that have
• 1:18:08
Also to say to who cares, that's a misrepresentation of
• 1:18:12
I that's not the correct thing to say what I said.
• 1:18:16
  Speaker 3: I think.
• 1:18:16
Speaker 1: More so, what I mean is it's it's unavoidable to
• 1:18:20
try and you know, uh, to try and please everybody.
• 1:18:25
You can't do it, you know what I mean? And
• 1:18:27
also it would be different too if.
• 1:18:29
Speaker 2: The video was was Judge holding the first creepy?
• 1:18:32
Speaker 1: Was he the first sep? That's that's that's something that's different,
• 1:18:36
you know what I mean, because then you're also completely
• 1:18:38
lambasting the character. I guess that's what I mean is
• 1:18:42
like if somebody you just you can't help it. It
• 1:18:45
is what it is. You know. Also too, I think
• 1:18:48
people go in with things and I think that people
• 1:18:50
go in guns blazing because they're just like it's also
• 1:18:53
very much. That's also why I mean, keep this or not.
• 1:18:58
I fucking hate Twitter because it's nothing but hive mind
• 1:19:01
quote tweet bullshit where there's no there's no discussion. It's
• 1:19:05
people just being like I'm pissed. Are you pissed too?
• 1:19:07
And it's that you know, so it is anyway.
• 1:19:11
Speaker 2: I mean, we have a story, Yeah, we have a story. Sorry,
• 1:19:13
it didn't mean to get so sidetracked with it, but you.
• 1:19:15
Speaker 1: Know, I think it's it's fascinating here it come from
• 1:19:18
that person. Because a lot of things that you do
• 1:19:19
do have a cultural online impact and stuff, and I
• 1:19:22
do think that, like, you know, if there's one thing
• 1:19:25
that's to be said, even with these fan made stories,
• 1:19:27
is getting people excited about things and having interest and stuff.
• 1:19:31
So much of what people decide to do with their
• 1:19:33
time is be pissed off or demean shit, which I'm
• 1:19:35
no better, you know, I definitely him. You have fucking
• 1:19:39
little annoying rat when it comes to things. But all
• 1:19:43
you can do is be excited about stuff and try
• 1:19:45
to contribute back in some meaningful way. And that's like
• 1:19:47
the best thing, yeah, most positive thing you can do
• 1:19:50
with your time, versus dwelling on why things are different
• 1:19:54
or popular for some reason. You know. It's just like
• 1:19:57
if you just don't like something, move on. If you
• 1:20:00
love something, contribute to it and like try to be
• 1:20:02
  a part of the conversation.
• 1:20:05
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's well said.
• 1:20:06
Speaker 2: And I think, like I think, like this guy here,
• 1:20:10
this is really encouraging because you know, you tell one
• 1:20:12
hundred people about something, fifty people are gonna take it
• 1:20:16
the wrong way, fifty people will take it the right way.
• 1:20:18
I think it's worth telling one hundred for the fifty
• 1:20:20
that take it the right way, is my outlook. But like,
• 1:20:23
we got this guy here only a blurb Brandon. I
• 1:20:25
scrolled through because I was trying to find you know what,
• 1:20:28
all he's written. He's had a Reddit account for years,
• 1:20:32
and then he's he's never posted any stories he's written,
• 1:20:35
and then he starts posting anar slash screep cast, and
• 1:20:38
  then he writes.
• 1:20:39
Speaker 3: Two stories in the past couple of months.
• 1:20:41
Speaker 2: To me, that is worth one hundred people dumbing down
• 1:20:47
a character. Right that maybe this one guy started listening
• 1:20:51
to the podcast or listening to our channels and was like,
• 1:20:54
I want to start telling stories. That's worth all the
• 1:20:57
other junk that comes with it. Right, that's encouraging. It's
• 1:21:01
really cool to see. And then in the first part
• 1:21:03
there's what I assume to be kind of a reference
• 1:21:05
towards myself that means a lot makes me feel.
• 1:21:09
Speaker 3: Good, makes me feel good.
• 1:21:11
  Speaker 1: I'm glad man.
• 1:21:12
Speaker 2: So anyway with the story, the usual to start from
• 1:21:14
the top. Yeah, yeah, I'll just start from the top.
• 1:21:17
Most of my life I have been considered a bookworm
• 1:21:19
by the people around me. In my life, I've always
• 1:21:22
loved reading, ever since my eleventh grade English teachers signed
• 1:21:25
us to read Blood Meridian by Coormick McCarthy at.
• 1:21:28
  Speaker 3: A novel Ope.
• 1:21:28
Speaker 2: In my eyes, not only now powerful stories are and
• 1:21:31
their impact on juven emotion, but also the depravity of
• 1:21:34
human beings their unrelenting nature. After an experience like that,
• 1:21:38
I was hooked. I would search through bookstores, libraries, garage
• 1:21:41
and estate sales wherever there was a book to be found.
• 1:21:44
Speaker 3: I was at the foreground.
• 1:21:46
Speaker 2: Once I had exhausted all of those means to find
• 1:21:48
new and exciting reads, I entered to the Internet.
• 1:21:51
Speaker 3: I have a fascination with band and lost books.
• 1:21:53
Speaker 2: Something about the mystery surrounding them excites me and makes
• 1:21:55
me want to consume them. About three months ago, I
• 1:21:58
came across a listing on some second hand book website
• 1:22:01
for a novel titled World's History from Beginning to End.
• 1:22:05
This immediately piqued my interest because I noticed there was
• 1:22:07
no author listed, which is not unusual when authors want
• 1:22:10
to remain anonymous. What made it strange was that there
• 1:22:12
was no publisher or identity of anybody that made this book.
• 1:22:16
It was also very difficult to tell exactly what time
• 1:22:18
period this book was from. The hardcover looked as if
• 1:22:21
it was almost brand new, as it was just pulled
• 1:22:23
off the printing press. The pages, on the other hand,
• 1:22:26
looked like they were made of papyrus, which hasn't been
• 1:22:29
used to make books in centuries. I figured I must
• 1:22:32
have stumbled upon a piece of lost media that I
• 1:22:34
could hopefully use to impress the other eccentrics I knew online.
• 1:22:38
I messaged the listory immediately asking if it was still
• 1:22:41
available for sale. They responded about ten minutes later with
• 1:22:44
a location pin about two hundred and fifty miles away
• 1:22:47
from where I was. I asked if we could meet halfway,
• 1:22:51
but they just sent the same pen. Knowing how these
• 1:22:54
sellers usually are, they won't budge when they have a
• 1:22:56
meeting place set in stone. Picking up the book was uneventful.
• 1:23:00
Drove to the guy's place, parked right outside his modest,
• 1:23:02
middle class home in the suburbs, sent him a message
• 1:23:05
letting him know I was there. He sent it back
• 1:23:08
saying the book was in the mailbox and I have
• 1:23:10
to leave the money in there. Aside for feeling like
• 1:23:12
I was buying Wheed in high school again, I didn't
• 1:23:14
have any off feelings about the interaction. When I got home,
• 1:23:18
it was nearly eleven thirty at nine, and I put
• 1:23:20
the book on my nightstand in the fell sleep once
• 1:23:23
I woke up the next morning The first thing I
• 1:23:25
did was cracked that book open and began reading. The
• 1:23:28
novel was not as long as I had imagined for
• 1:23:30
a full history of the world, only about eight hundred
• 1:23:33
pages from looking at it. The first chapter opened up
• 1:23:36
on a singularity in a vaseless space of emptiness seeking growth.
• 1:23:40
Over the next fifty pages that discussed the beginning of
• 1:23:43
our universe through the Big Bang. The second chapter was
• 1:23:47
around thirty pages and talked about how organisms began to
• 1:23:50
attach themselves to Earth, creating a multitude of different species.
• 1:23:54
After a few more chapters, I learned about the dinosaurs,
• 1:23:56
evolution of man, the Stone Ages, and evolution of tools,
• 1:24:00
development and language, art culture. Now I was about six
• 1:24:04
hundred pages in. We have not even broken into the
• 1:24:07
first empires of the world and the tenth chapter, and
• 1:24:10
about seven hundred and twenty pages into the book, it
• 1:24:13
finally began discussing the start of civilization in Mesopotamia.
• 1:24:16
Speaker 3: Once I read through that, I.
• 1:24:18
Speaker 2: Was nearly at the end of the novel with only
• 1:24:19
an initial history of the world. I thought the book
• 1:24:23
might be part of a series. But since I couldn't
• 1:24:25
even find a trace of this book anywhere.
• 1:24:26
  Speaker 3: I doubt i'd find others.
• 1:24:28
Speaker 2: The final page of the novel was on page eight
• 1:24:32
hundred and seventeen, edited with the chapter talking about the
• 1:24:35
rise of the Babylonian Empire. As I flipped the final
• 1:24:39
page to see the back cover, I was surprised to
• 1:24:41
see a new page, a new chapter title on it
• 1:24:45
Persian and Roman Empires. I was shocked that they would
• 1:24:49
add just one page of another chapter at the end
• 1:24:52
of the book, but I read it anyway.
• 1:24:54
Speaker 3: As I flipped that page, another one was after it.
• 1:24:57
Speaker 2: I swear I did not see or feel another page
• 1:25:00
on the other side of the one I just read.
• 1:25:03
Speaker 3: This kept going for the next eleven hours.
• 1:25:07
Speaker 2: Every time I would flip a page, new one would
• 1:25:10
be there in its place to continue the story. Although
• 1:25:13
the book seemed to go on indefinitely, the size of
• 1:25:15
the book never changed. After all that time, I had
• 1:25:18
made it to around the year nineteen ninety seven with
• 1:25:22
the death of Princess Diana. It was nearly three in
• 1:25:25
the morning at this point, and I had to process
• 1:25:27
to some degree while I was experiencing, so I did
• 1:25:29
my best to go to sleep All night. I could
• 1:25:32
not stop thinking about the seemingly unending book, so it
• 1:25:35
an optical illusion, so somehow miscounting the pages, I had
• 1:25:39
to figure out what was going on.
• 1:25:40
Speaker 3: That's funny to imagine.
• 1:25:41
Speaker 2: A guy who like it's he's literally at the back
• 1:25:44
of the book and new pages keep coming, and he's like, oh,
• 1:25:46
must must have missed that one.
• 1:25:49
Speaker 1: Hope, Yeah, I missed that one. It's very like goosebumpy,
• 1:25:52
isn't it. It's just like this thing of also the
• 1:25:54
compelling nature of being like, well, I guess I'll just
• 1:25:57
keep reading because it is an anomaly. You know. It
• 1:25:59
is like because the size of the book never changing,
• 1:26:02
but you still keep flipping and there's more pages. That
• 1:26:05
would be such a weird mind fuck, but it almost
• 1:26:08
seems like he's like hypnotized in some weird way to
• 1:26:11
keep reading it, keep continuing into this like weird, fucking
• 1:26:16
  never ending book.
• 1:26:18
Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it's also threatening how it's like beginning to end.
• 1:26:23
I waited for the sun to rise before I began
• 1:26:25
reading again. Every new chapter this point spanned over one
• 1:26:29
hundred pages each and only depicted about six months to.
• 1:26:32
Speaker 3: A year of history at a time.
• 1:26:34
Speaker 2: After another nine hours of reading, I made it to
• 1:26:36
modern day. They were discussing various airplane crashes. It happened
• 1:26:40
in DC, Philadelphia, and Scottsdelle. I read about the death
• 1:26:43
of my favorite director, David Lynch, and all the other
• 1:26:46
major events that have happened so far this year. I
• 1:26:49
don't know how a book can be published mere hours
• 1:26:52
after these events were being discussed.
• 1:26:54
Speaker 3: I kept turning the pages it kept reading.
• 1:26:56
Speaker 2: When I realized it had listed an event that happened
• 1:27:00
and yesterday. This is impossible, since I bought the book
• 1:27:04
two days ago. I could possibly haven't you been in
• 1:27:07
it that happened yesterday? My curiosity peaked. I kept reading
• 1:27:11
the novel continued into how the rest of the year
• 1:27:13
will play out. I figured whoever wrote it had a
• 1:27:17
bountiful imagination to insert their own predictions into a book
• 1:27:20
about world history. Once I wrapped up the twenty twenty
• 1:27:23
five Years, I decided it was a good time to
• 1:27:25
go to bed, so I did. I must not have
• 1:27:28
slept much in the last couple of days, because I
• 1:27:30
  had slept.
• 1:27:31
Speaker 3: Through the entirety of the next one.
• 1:27:33
Speaker 2: I woke up thirty two hours later in my bed
• 1:27:36
and did my usual morning routine of going to the bathroom,
• 1:27:39
brushing my teeth, shower, shave, make breakfast, put on the
• 1:27:42
news found out. I was sleeping through a whole day
• 1:27:45
when I saw the date on the news story they
• 1:27:48
were showing was about a sex scandal that happened with
• 1:27:50
a very prolific celebrity. I felt a sense of deja
• 1:27:54
vou come over me because I felt like I heard
• 1:27:56
about that before. Figured maybe I dreamed it, or maybe
• 1:28:00
I saw an article minutes after the scandal dropped. I
• 1:28:03
know those wishful thinking, because for the two days prior
• 1:28:06
to my sleep the only media I consumed.
• 1:28:08
  Speaker 3: Was that book.
• 1:28:09
Speaker 2: I went to my night stand and picked up the book,
• 1:28:11
but at the end to find the chapter on this year.
• 1:28:15
Just as I thought, there was a page that discussed
• 1:28:17
the very same celebrity in the sex scandal, with every single.
• 1:28:20
  Speaker 3: Detail painfully accurate.
• 1:28:22
Speaker 2: The book even discussed details that were not president in
• 1:28:25
any news footage or article online. The book had a
• 1:28:29
police evidence like description of the crime and gave way
• 1:28:32
to information a regular civilian should not have access to.
• 1:28:36
I've been a Christian all my life and believe that
• 1:28:39
  this book is divine.
• 1:28:40
Speaker 3: That's access to information that no person has any right
• 1:28:43
  to know.
• 1:28:45
Speaker 2: I wish I didn't know it myself, but it is
• 1:28:47
the curse I bestowed upon myself.
• 1:28:50
Speaker 3: Whether this book is from God.
• 1:28:51
Speaker 2: Or the devil, I do not know, but I wish
• 1:28:53
I had the willpower to stop myself from reading after
• 1:28:55
I found its prophecy. Once I began reading, I also
• 1:28:59
like that becauld normally be like, oh, this book's like evil,
• 1:29:03
or like this is some forbidden knowledge or whateverybody's just
• 1:29:06
like I think this is divine. Like he's immediately it's
• 1:29:10
a gift. He's not getting it away. Yeah, Like I
• 1:29:12
have to treasure this thing. It's beautiful.
• 1:29:14
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 1:29:14
Speaker 2: Once I began reading, for the rest of the decade,
• 1:29:17
I became more and more frightened about what I was
• 1:29:19
going to learn. In the year twenty twenty seven, it
• 1:29:22
said there'd be an event that altered the course of
• 1:29:24
human history. This was the popularization of easily accessible bioweapons
• 1:29:28
and underground markets. Many private terarist organizations, struck cartels, and
• 1:29:32
even individual criminals hoarded as much as they could to
• 1:29:35
either threatened or dispose of individuals or large groups of people.
• 1:29:39
One of the first attacks used was on the White House,
• 1:29:42
a discros for the federal agents watching. This is a joke.
• 1:29:45
I do not agree with them. Well, the first attacks
• 1:29:50
used was on the White House. A disgruntled voter had
• 1:29:52
gained access to a lung cancer synthetic. Attacker mailed thirty
• 1:29:57
small samples on different days and envelopes that would cary
• 1:29:59
the the airborne When opened. Six months later, nearly half
• 1:30:03
the White House staff, including the President, were either infected
• 1:30:05
or had passed away from lung cancer. Other groups would
• 1:30:08
have different tactics, so like in twenty twenty nine when
• 1:30:11
a domestic terrorist organization took a crop duster filled with
• 1:30:14
a synthetic HIV virus and flewid over San Francisco as
• 1:30:17
a homophobic attack, or in twenty thirty two, when we
• 1:30:21
see the largest death toll from.
• 1:30:23
Speaker 3: Any bio weapon ever made.
• 1:30:25
Speaker 2: Russia began experimenting with the new synthetic disease that would
• 1:30:28
  almost immediately kill.
• 1:30:29
Speaker 3: The person affected by it.
• 1:30:31
Speaker 2: They call it smirt zevirtku, smirt severku, I'm sorry, and
• 1:30:36
it was used to fill the heads of atomic missiles
• 1:30:38
  to eviscerate the remaining people.
• 1:30:39
Speaker 3: Who survived after bombs were dropped.
• 1:30:42
Speaker 2: Russia launched three missiles towards Ukraine, but had not tested
• 1:30:46
the scale of the airborne illness They hit three different
• 1:30:48
cities in Ukraine and wiped out every person in each one,
• 1:30:51
along with the rest of the country. Russia had not
• 1:30:54
foreseen that the virus would spread so wide wide enough
• 1:30:58
to destroy every person in the southern region of both
• 1:31:00
Belarus and Russia. I became obsessed with this book, encumbered
• 1:31:04
every waking moment of my being. I learned all about
• 1:31:07
the future that our world and universe has to offer.
• 1:31:10
I had to keep reading and understand what will happen
• 1:31:12
  in my lifetime and beyond.
• 1:31:14
Speaker 3: I wish I'd just put the book down.
• 1:31:16
Speaker 2: Soon after Russia held an accidental extinction of a country,
• 1:31:20
the entire world fell into an arms race to see
• 1:31:22
who had the most powerful and destructive bioweapon. The three
• 1:31:26
countries with the largest quantity and highest mortality rate were
• 1:31:29
going from third to first Russia, America, and Ireland. Ireland
• 1:31:34
posed a major threat to the rest of the world
• 1:31:36
because it owned as many bioweapons as both America and
• 1:31:39
Russia combined. If the country is entered to a salemate
• 1:31:42
to see who would act first, that's.
• 1:31:44
Speaker 3: Really funny to imagine Ireland.
• 1:31:47
Speaker 2: I'm like, fucking the Ireland, really dogad fucking I'm totally serious.
• 1:31:57
How don't you want you to imagine me have all.
• 1:32:01
Speaker 3: I've got the weapon, I'll send it. I'll do it
• 1:32:04
  in a moment.
• 1:32:05
Speaker 4: You've got the weapon, I'll send it.
• 1:32:06
  Speaker 3: I'll fuck it.
• 1:32:08
Speaker 1: I'll fuck you off with it, all right.
• 1:32:10
Speaker 3: I'll put it, put it in a car bomb.
• 1:32:12
Speaker 6: You'll see, you're saying, right here, right now, we have all.
• 1:32:17
We have all of the bioweapons. I'll tell you that much.
• 1:32:22
So funny think Ireland would have that, your darn Tutin.
• 1:32:28
Speaker 2: America were ones to send the official declaration of war
• 1:32:31
after a high ranking official was assassinated by an individual
• 1:32:34
who's a part of the Irish Radical Party. They dropped
• 1:32:38
bombs filled with large amounts of radiation on top of
• 1:32:40
  Ireland's government basis.
• 1:32:43
Speaker 3: Little did they know an America's declaration would also be
• 1:32:46
  its end.
• 1:32:47
Speaker 2: The bombs are targeted at where the highest concentration of
• 1:32:49
Ireland's bioweapons were to eliminate them from the arms race entirely.
• 1:32:54
The outcome of that decision was a world widespread of
• 1:32:56
almost every type of disease non demand kind. Even disease
• 1:33:00
is that were thought to be extinct were brought into
• 1:33:02
the light of day. The Black plague, smallpox, and even
• 1:33:05
guinea worm disease. Millions were killed upon the initial destruction,
• 1:33:09
followed by nearly the rest of the human population within
• 1:33:12
the next twelve hours. Months and years go by without
• 1:33:16
anything eventful taking place, just small segments for each chapter
• 1:33:20
discussing how the terrain of the world was changed and the.
• 1:33:22
Speaker 3: Various mutated creatures that rose because of it.
• 1:33:25
Speaker 2: After about three years worth of text, was there in
• 1:33:27
event involving a human occurring. Roughly ten thousand people across
• 1:33:31
the world had a bomb shelter built in their home
• 1:33:33
for the purpose of a global disaster. These individuals were
• 1:33:36
the first to come to the surface after years of
• 1:33:38
no human involvement in their environment. Around eight thousand of
• 1:33:42
these people died minutes after reaching the surface because the
• 1:33:45
air still lingered with multitude of plagues. The other roughly
• 1:33:48
two thousand people that saw the ones that left the
• 1:33:51
shelter never returned, so they assumed what was true in
• 1:33:55
that surface was still dangerous. Many of them died in
• 1:33:59
their show two years later or until they ran out
• 1:34:01
of nutrients. Few also ventured to the surface later to
• 1:34:05
make a life for themselves, but the same fate as
• 1:34:07
their predecessors. The year twenty eighty nine was the last
• 1:34:11
year that humans existed. After that, plant life and animals
• 1:34:15
to go over the world. In the next fifteen years,
• 1:34:18
plant life grew rapidly due to their mutation from the viruses,
• 1:34:22
except instead of growing into a green oasis, turned into
• 1:34:25
a mix of deep crimson brown plants that covered every
• 1:34:28
surface it could latch onto. The animals that survived lurked
• 1:34:31
around the earth and became extremely aggressive towards each other.
• 1:34:35
This caused all life on Earth besides botanical life to
• 1:34:38
see successistence by the year twenty one to forty.
• 1:34:42
Speaker 3: Centuries of text flows by in roughly thirty pages.
• 1:34:46
Speaker 2: One thing that never got mentioned even in the passing
• 1:34:48
of the novel was a presence of God, any God
• 1:34:51
for that matter. No religion was discussed beyond the Crusades
• 1:34:54
and other religious numbers that did not directly involve faith.
• 1:34:58
This book that seemingly knows everything the world has to offer,
• 1:35:01
and no answers would be the point of living. It
• 1:35:04
about life free from sin. It won't aid be in
• 1:35:07
peaceful afterlife. I decide with whatever life I have left,
• 1:35:11
I want to live. I want to live it Like
• 1:35:13
Biff Tannon, I'm back to the future Part two.
• 1:35:16
  Speaker 3: Wow.
• 1:35:16
Speaker 2: I do not want to think about any of the
• 1:35:18
knowledge I have consumed beyond what will give me a
• 1:35:21
  financial or spiritual gain.
• 1:35:23
Speaker 3: I have no faith left in humanity.
• 1:35:25
Speaker 2: I'll make the quickest buck that I can before the
• 1:35:28
major bombs drop. After that, I'll build the most comfortable
• 1:35:31
bomb shelter with enough supplies and entertainment to last me
• 1:35:33
through the end of days. This post is not a
• 1:35:36
warning on what's to come. That much is inevitable. I
• 1:35:39
simply cannot be the only person who carries the burden
• 1:35:41
of knowing what I have learned.
• 1:35:43
Speaker 1: Well, there's the end of that story, and I'm sitting
• 1:35:45
here with a fucking panic attack.
• 1:35:50
  Speaker 3: Feels so real.
• 1:35:51
Speaker 1: That's what the kind of stuff, with the kind of
• 1:35:53
stuff going on in the world right now, it feels
• 1:35:54
so like I was just like this is this all
• 1:35:56
  makes sense to me?
• 1:35:57
Speaker 2: It's awesome Ireland getting the weapons.
• 1:36:01
Speaker 1: Ireland was the That's the most fabricated thing I've heard,
• 1:36:05
for sure, But still it's one of those that the
• 1:36:08
idea of like nuclear fallout and just the kind of
• 1:36:10
like a lot of like existential stuff coming in the end. There.
• 1:36:14
Speaker 2: You know a lot of stories, could you know I
• 1:36:16
feel like this could have also been a story where
• 1:36:18
it goes the direction of like mom, meet me, read
• 1:36:20
me a bad time story, Okay, and she's reading the
• 1:36:22
story and it gets more fucked up and she just
• 1:36:24
like won't stop reading or something.
• 1:36:26
Speaker 1: You know, you could go so many different rounds for that.
• 1:36:28
But taking it into like that existential kind of uh
• 1:36:32
you know, uh knowledge of all the world and stuff
• 1:36:35
is pretty cool. And I like the idea too of
• 1:36:38
that was one thing I thought was kind of relatable
• 1:36:40
at the beginning, was you get into a book, you
• 1:36:42
start collecting, you know, because I have a couple Like
• 1:36:44
I like collecting old books and stuff too. And the
• 1:36:46
idea too that you just stumble across this thing. It
• 1:36:48
has no author, it's just kind of this like text
• 1:36:51
and you just kind of keep flipping. But it's like
• 1:36:54
the morbid curiosity of having to know, and it like
• 1:36:56
Earth turns into like almost like a fallout kind of
• 1:36:58
fucking situation, all this kind of stuff. But I love
• 1:37:01
the idea that the two that the book doesn't get bigger,
• 1:37:03
it just he just kind of keeps turning the page
• 1:37:06
  to the last.
• 1:37:06
  Speaker 3: Pages showing up.
• 1:37:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like a treadmill almost just keeps like cycling over. Also,
• 1:37:12
it's a fun idea that at the end he's like,
• 1:37:15
well because earlier said he was a Christian, and he's
• 1:37:19
like this book that knows everything says nothing of God.
• 1:37:21
Speaker 3: So I guess there's no reason to live at all.
• 1:37:22
Speaker 2: So I'm gonna make enough money to build a bomb shelter,
• 1:37:25
and I guess I'll just live out my days in needless.
• 1:37:28
Speaker 3: Enjoyment because the world's coming to an end.
• 1:37:30
Speaker 2: So it's like this prophecy has changed him. That's fascinating
• 1:37:34
that that was a fun story. That was a fun
• 1:37:36
little like the earth is going to end this way,
• 1:37:38
So here's what I'm doing, because very sweet.
• 1:37:41
Speaker 1: I always get fucked up by like weird existential stuff
• 1:37:43
like that to where like you're like, I did not think.
• 1:37:45
I did not think I wanted to think about that today,
• 1:37:49
you know, And that's what I'm going right now. I'm
• 1:37:51
like really kind of bummed that I still have a
• 1:37:53
lot of work aft to do, and I'm like for
• 1:37:54
  what for what?
• 1:37:56
  Speaker 3: What?
• 1:37:57
Speaker 1: Why even do it?
• 1:37:59
  Speaker 3: It? Want?
• 1:38:01
Speaker 2: The reason you do it is so you can build
• 1:38:03
your bunker and put a bunch of Nintendo Wii games
• 1:38:07
down there for the end of the world.
• 1:38:09
Speaker 1: If anybody comes across a neon sign that says loss
• 1:38:12
of innocence, no, that's my bunker, and you're totally welcome
• 1:38:14
to stay with me in the end of the day.
• 1:38:16
Speaker 3: Mainly the bunker loss of innocence. It's like, well, I'm
• 1:38:19
  not coding in there.
• 1:38:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly, we'll see.
• 1:38:24
Speaker 3: That's the old wod distraction.
• 1:38:25
Speaker 1: And then that we were like, oh no, that's actually
• 1:38:26
  super fucking cool.
• 1:38:27
Speaker 2: It's like, I'll just I'll just get the plague. That's fine,
• 1:38:31
  I'll just keep walking.
• 1:38:34
Speaker 1: The nursing home at the edge of the world. This
• 1:38:35
looks like part one. You said that Part two got deleted,
• 1:38:38
but we could at least read part one.
• 1:38:40
Speaker 2: So if you go to their page, so that for
• 1:38:42
one of the authors, this is Phoenix Heat, and Phoenix
• 1:38:45
Heat seems to douce the writing in our for several years.
• 1:38:49
Speaker 3: He's done writing in Our slash Scary Stories r slash
• 1:38:52
No Sleep, and then they dropped a veteran, a veteran
• 1:38:57
  of the genre.
• 1:38:58
Speaker 2: They posted part one and then so they've been sitting
• 1:39:01
on this for a few weeks now. They posted it
• 1:39:03
in No Sleep. Didn't know what to do, so I'll
• 1:39:05
  throw it up.
• 1:39:05
  Speaker 3: In creep cast.
• 1:39:09
Speaker 2: But then for some reason, I don't know what happened. Okay,
• 1:39:13
so they post that, and then they post part two
• 1:39:16
on our slash Scary Stories, and it posted our slash
• 1:39:19
two on No Sleep, but it got take it. Wait, yes, yeah,
• 1:39:22
they post part two on our slash No Sleep. I
• 1:39:25
think No Sleep took down all the parts, but then
• 1:39:28
they posted part two on our slash creep cast, but
• 1:39:30
then it got taken down off creep cast. I have
• 1:39:33
no idea why we're becoming No Sleep already, we're becoming immediately.
• 1:39:39
Speaker 1: Hey guys, I upload here so we can delete your stories.
• 1:39:41
Speaker 2: Thanks upload here so we can also censor it and
• 1:39:45
  delete it.
• 1:39:46
Speaker 3: I have no idea why I got taken down. But
• 1:39:47
then they post and said that.
• 1:39:50
Speaker 2: So they posted this in reply to the June fan
• 1:39:53
made story thread and said they give a brief summary
• 1:39:57
of the story, and then says part one, two, and three.
• 1:40:01
Uh wait, parts one and two are out. Part three
• 1:40:04
is already written. I just need to reread it over
• 1:40:06
for clarity one last time, and it'll be posted soon.
• 1:40:08
And then that was posted twenty six days ago. I
• 1:40:11
don't see they've posted parts three anywhere. So parts one
• 1:40:15
and two are up and they posted both of those
• 1:40:17
to our slash Creek cast, but we deleted the part two.
• 1:40:21
  Speaker 3: I guess, I don't know.
• 1:40:22
Speaker 1: Why we're horrible people, but.
• 1:40:26
Speaker 2: The part two is up on our slash Scare stories.
• 1:40:28
I think, well, why don't you do this.
• 1:40:30
  Speaker 1: Let's let's read. Let's read part one, and then we'll
• 1:40:33
fucking well, we'll be like, hey, submitted again, and we'll
• 1:40:35
have to talk to whoever the fucking moms are this ship,
• 1:40:40
and it'd be like, let the let the poor bastard
• 1:40:42
  post the second part.
• 1:40:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, but then we see we see that, like part
• 1:40:46
two goes up and it's like a direct thread all
• 1:40:48
  our lives.
• 1:40:49
Speaker 3: It's like they said they dress.
• 1:40:51
Speaker 1: Well, that will need to be made clear. So you know,
• 1:40:57
  all right, but.
• 1:40:59
Speaker 2: We get to the ball this for now, but for
• 1:41:01
part one, for now, let's at least touch part one
• 1:41:04
of the Nursing Home at the Edge of the World,
• 1:41:06
which I will say is a fun little title, kind
• 1:41:08
  of has a fun title.
• 1:41:09
Speaker 1: It has the same vibe.
• 1:41:10
Speaker 2: As like I worked at a voodoo shop or like
• 1:41:12
Tails from the gas station kind of vibe.
• 1:41:14
Speaker 1: Is the is the vibe I get them.
• 1:41:16
Speaker 2: It's it's very fun and also like we're gonna leave
• 1:41:18
link to it in the description, so you can go
• 1:41:19
check out part two and then three whatever they post
• 1:41:22
it for yourself. Hopefully by then part two will be
• 1:41:24
in the subredd it will figure that one out. No promises,
• 1:41:27
no promises, no promises, no promises. Nursing Home at the
• 1:41:31
Edge of the World, Part one by Phoenix.
• 1:41:33
Speaker 3: Oh Heat Phoenix Oh Heat.
• 1:41:36
  Speaker 1: The woman had.
• 1:41:36
Speaker 2: Long, greasy hair that framed her crooked face. The left
• 1:41:40
half was pulled taut against her skull, as if her
• 1:41:42
skin was painted onto it. The right half was sloped down,
• 1:41:46
one eye barely open and the edge of her mouth
• 1:41:48
unable to close. Small drop of saliva wormed its way
• 1:41:52
down her chest, shifting from her side onto the bed
• 1:41:55
she lay on. One of her hands was curled into
• 1:41:58
an unnatural claw, reminiscent of a spider's legs long after
• 1:42:03
its final moments on this bed was the most beautiful
• 1:42:07
woman in the world. God mother, Well, the next line is,
• 1:42:12
my mother had her first joke seven years ago.
• 1:42:15
  Speaker 3: M So it's their mother.
• 1:42:17
Speaker 2: So now do you feel bad about saying my great
• 1:42:19
my great grandma, my great grandma had arthritis so bad
• 1:42:22
that like her toes were all fucking they're all.
• 1:42:25
Speaker 1: Basically like capital l's and shit, you know what I mean.
• 1:42:27
Her big ass, fucking big ass marble knuckles, and her
• 1:42:31
hands were all like bent up as well, and she'd
• 1:42:34
always come over and she's just like, how about you
• 1:42:37
like that? And then she would like try to like
• 1:42:39
pinch my cheeks, and I was like, I was repulsed.
• 1:42:42
Speaker 2: I was repulsed by her hands. And remember I'd go
• 1:42:45
I'd be like okay, and I'd like run to the
• 1:42:47
bathroom and like wash my face.
• 1:42:48
Speaker 1: It was just I don't know how.
• 1:42:49
Speaker 3: To scare me. Did She's like, are you okay there?
• 1:42:56
Speaker 1: I'm like I just got in here. It's like okay, yeah,
• 1:42:59
I'm fine, Okay. She watched Happy Gilmour all the time.
• 1:43:05
  It's all she watched.
• 1:43:08
Speaker 3: What Why Why were you repulse? Fires? She she had
• 1:43:13
  a disability.
• 1:43:14
Speaker 1: Her fucking hands. Man, I'm a child, and her hands
• 1:43:17
are they were like seriously, her fingers were crooked. One
• 1:43:21
was like basically like permanently over her other one, and
• 1:43:24
they were all like this and she could barely grab stuff.
• 1:43:27
Speaker 3: She'd say, can't you hand me the spoon?
• 1:43:29
Speaker 1: And so I said okay, and then she would like
• 1:43:32
hold it all weird and I felt bad. I'm like,
• 1:43:34
do you want me to give me to do it
• 1:43:35
for you? She said, oh please? And I was feed her.
• 1:43:38
One time she fucking fell asleep while I was feeding her,
• 1:43:41
and she was like not choking on the soup, but
• 1:43:43
it was in her mouth and she was like h
• 1:43:48
And I didn't know how to wake her up, so
• 1:43:50
like slapped her leg and she was like ah, like
• 1:43:53
that freaked out the soup whatever, And it doesn't matter
• 1:43:59
  whatever it was was.
• 1:44:00
Speaker 2: There was there any member of your fam, any elderly
• 1:44:06
member of your family that you do not have a
• 1:44:08
traumatic story or were terrified of?
• 1:44:11
Speaker 1: Plenty plenty. I had a lot of good grandparents. I
• 1:44:17
  had a couple weird ones.
• 1:44:18
Speaker 3: Sure, one that tries to kill you, that's.
• 1:44:23
Speaker 1: Not totally confirmed, but I will say the other one was.
• 1:44:25
Speaker 2: Your mother, who wasn't adult at the time.
• 1:44:30
Speaker 3: I think she was neither.
• 1:44:35
Speaker 2: The most people do not, well, look, I've let this
• 1:44:38
go too long. Most people do not have a grandfather
• 1:44:41
  that tried to kill them.
• 1:44:43
Speaker 3: Okay, that's not normal at.
• 1:44:45
Speaker 1: All, hunting accident. And I will say that the great grandma,
• 1:44:50
she just literally had arthritis, and it scared me when
• 1:44:52
I was younger. I was young, young, and if you
• 1:44:55
see that, you're going to be horrified. She was a
• 1:44:57
  nice enough lady.
• 1:44:58
Speaker 3: How often do you hate people with disabilities.
• 1:45:01
Speaker 1: Like the okay, don't hate her once again? Young and frightened, scared,
• 1:45:07
horrified really, to be completely fair, I remember I'd look
• 1:45:10
at my I would look at my hands in the
• 1:45:12
bathroom and stuff, and I would just like I would
• 1:45:14
sit there and like I would like squeeze my fingers
• 1:45:16
and stuff to make sure that they were like I'm like,
• 1:45:19
I asked my dad to like, my hands aren't gonna
• 1:45:22
end up like that? And he was like, oh, probably.
• 1:45:25
Speaker 3: Is. They told me what. Okay, So would you say
• 1:45:30
you were a repulsed byer then?
• 1:45:32
  Speaker 7: No?
• 1:45:33
Speaker 1: I was not. Well, yes, but it was just because
• 1:45:35
I was afraid. I was afraid.
• 1:45:37
Speaker 3: So how how often are you repulsed by people with disabilities?
• 1:45:40
Speaker 1: Almost never? Because honestly, and I'll tell you something right now,
• 1:45:44
  because everyone's God's little angel.
• 1:45:47
Speaker 2: Okay, right, all right, as long as that's on the record,
• 1:45:53
I guess. Anyway, my mother had her first stroke seven
• 1:45:58
years ago. Just last week she had her thirty second Bruh.
• 1:46:02
I still remember the weeks after her first stroke. I
• 1:46:06
was in college in New York and didn't have a car.
• 1:46:08
It's been almost all of my savings going from taxi
• 1:46:11
to taxi to see her, just for her to get
• 1:46:13
angry at me for wasting my money. Nothing in heaven
• 1:46:16
or hell, surely nothing in between stop her from seeing
• 1:46:19
me graduate. She told me that and promptly sent me
• 1:46:23
back to school, paid for my trip out of her
• 1:46:25
own pockets. Back then, she still seemed so strong. If
• 1:46:29
the stroke had affected her, she didn't let me see it.
• 1:46:33
As the years went on, I watched her to deiorate
• 1:46:35
both body and mind. By the third stroke, she could
• 1:46:38
barely use one of her hands. She began to forget
• 1:46:42
what she was saying part way through her sentences. By
• 1:46:45
the fifth stroke, she could no longer walk, and every
• 1:46:47
word took a great strain on her mind. When my
• 1:46:50
graduation came, she was still alive. Five strokes more than
• 1:46:54
enough to kill someone. I knew that, but my mother
• 1:46:56
defied all odds and held on for me. Both my
• 1:46:59
grandparents one of my aunts were there with me during
• 1:47:02
the graduation. There was an atmosphere of discomfort in the air,
• 1:47:06
but I didn't care. Made the most of it with
• 1:47:08
my mother. After a tenth stroke. She didn't seem to
• 1:47:12
remember much of that day, but that was okay. I
• 1:47:15
showed her the photos, and without fail, they brought a
• 1:47:18
smile to her face. But day by day, month by month,
• 1:47:23
smile was fainter and fainter. I was sitting in her
• 1:47:27
nursing homeroom trying to decide which movie she would want
• 1:47:31
to watch. Held up an old cartoon I used to
• 1:47:33
watch with my brother in the hospital and asked her
• 1:47:36
if she wanted to watch it gee ye. Her lips
• 1:47:47
didn't move much, but she managed to grunt out a response.
• 1:47:51
Speaker 3: Took it as a yes.
• 1:47:54
Speaker 2: I put the movie into the old Xbox I gave
• 1:47:56
her to use the DVD player. She had a whole
• 1:47:59
stack of DVD He's even taller than I was. People
• 1:48:01
used to give them to her s gifts to keep
• 1:48:03
her happy. She couldn't get up to put them in herself, though,
• 1:48:06
but I would come as often as I couldn't do
• 1:48:08
it for turned the volume up to a tune out
• 1:48:11
the loud machine hooked up to her. It wasn't a
• 1:48:14
long movie, but we enjoyed it together. I could see
• 1:48:17
it in her eyes. Didn't marr which movie I played,
• 1:48:19
as long as we got to enjoy it together for
• 1:48:21
whatever time we both had left.
• 1:48:24
  Speaker 3: I'm getting sad.
• 1:48:27
  Speaker 1: This is rough.
• 1:48:29
Speaker 2: After it was over, I decided I'd go get something
• 1:48:32
to drink. My mom drifted off to sleep sometime during
• 1:48:35
the movie. She usually had a hard time staying awake
• 1:48:38
any more than a few hours at once. From outside
• 1:48:41
her room had a few years shot off the loud machine.
• 1:48:44
Heard the soft music playing in the hallways. Same station
• 1:48:48
was always playing, not one I recognized. It was in
• 1:48:52
some foreign language that was shockingly similar to English.
• 1:48:55
Speaker 3: To weren't any discernible words.
• 1:48:58
Speaker 1: Hello, missus Dawson, I.
• 1:49:00
Speaker 3: Said, cheerfully to the old lady along my path.
• 1:49:02
Speaker 4: Oh hello, dear, what a nice young man you are.
• 1:49:07
Speaker 1: Do you happen to work here? I'm lucky for help.
• 1:49:12
Speaker 2: Her words were strong, spider, shaking body. Her skin was
• 1:49:15
as pale as a ghost and thinner than paper.
• 1:49:18
Speaker 1: No, but you can go to your room, missus Dawson,
• 1:49:21
and I'll make sure help is there for you as
• 1:49:22
soon as they can. They ben have trouble finding you
• 1:49:25
  if you're walking around.
• 1:49:26
Speaker 3: You know that, Hei, Hi, do my room.
• 1:49:32
  Speaker 1: It looks confused.
• 1:49:33
Speaker 3: So I held her shoulders gently as I could and
• 1:49:35
  pointed her down the hallway.
• 1:49:37
Speaker 1: If you go down this hallway, ma'am, turn left at
• 1:49:39
the end in the first In the first room is
• 1:49:41
  yours room two one one.
• 1:49:44
Speaker 3: Oh hai, Si hw nice young men you are? Do
• 1:49:48
  you have family here?
• 1:49:50
Speaker 2: She made eye contact, but it felt more like looking
• 1:49:53
at a clay sculpture than it did a person. There's
• 1:49:55
a little consciousness left behind her eyes. Yeah, I do,
• 1:50:00
I responded with a smile. She nods it, turns around
• 1:50:03
and begin walking away, murmuring something about how nice she
• 1:50:09
was walking in the wrong direction. But I was sure
• 1:50:12
a nurse would find her later and help. I loved
• 1:50:16
my talks with missus Dawson. She was always so sweet.
• 1:50:19
I would have helped either what the I did, what
• 1:50:21
  I could.
• 1:50:26
Speaker 1: She goes the opposite fucking direction. I'm like, she'll find it,
• 1:50:30
She'll be all right, No, she won't. She's probably going
• 1:50:34
for a quick, little brisk walk, little pep talk to
• 1:50:37
herself to get back in the groove. How stella got
• 1:50:40
a groove back? That's how I'd say. And she said there,
• 1:50:43
murmuring to herself, I'm like, all right, well I did
• 1:50:45
my best. I'm not gonna mess with that old fucking
• 1:50:46
  bee hive walking around.
• 1:50:48
  Speaker 3: Dude.
• 1:50:48
Speaker 2: The help shows up eventually and it's like, well walk it.
• 1:50:52
And Hunter's been like, I've been pointing her to the
• 1:50:54
  wrong wings on purpose.
• 1:50:56
Speaker 1: He's gonna see he's gonna see her again in her
• 1:50:58
fucking she's gonna have great calves, big calves.
• 1:51:02
Speaker 2: If this was you, you would like point out the front
• 1:51:05
door of the nursing home to the highway and it's like,
• 1:51:08
  it's right across the street.
• 1:51:09
  Speaker 1: Man.
• 1:51:10
Speaker 2: If I was, If I was, if I was in
• 1:51:13
a nursing home and some woman was like, hey, Eric,
• 1:51:16
where am I going, I would say, don't ever talk
• 1:51:18
  to me.
• 1:51:18
Speaker 1: Don't touch me, you old fucking cook. That's what i'd say.
• 1:51:21
And I say you touch me again, I'll knock your
• 1:51:23
fucking lights out. You hear me, you old bitch?
• 1:51:25
Speaker 3: And she say hi, Oh my god.
• 1:51:28
Speaker 1: And if I was, I'll say, I'm the old man
• 1:51:30
in the situation. I look at a guy, grab him
• 1:51:33
real tight by his wrist, real tight.
• 1:51:34
Speaker 5: And I'd say, kill me, kill me, push me into
• 1:51:43
the road, please throw me, take.
• 1:51:48
Speaker 3: Me to my room.
• 1:51:48
Speaker 1: The guy would take me to my room and I'd
• 1:51:50
be like, turn on, put the bath, fill up the bath.
• 1:51:54
He's like, okay, you want hot water.
• 1:51:56
Speaker 4: I'm like scolding, scolding, God.
• 1:51:59
Speaker 1: And he's filled up.
• 1:51:59
Speaker 2: It's fucking steaming his hell in there, and I'd be like,
• 1:52:01
put me in. He put me in, and then I
• 1:52:03
would grab his hand and I'd put his hand on
• 1:52:05
my face and I'd say drown me. And I'd have
• 1:52:08
him put his hand on my face until it was
• 1:52:09
totally summers and I'm like and then he'd be like, I.
• 1:52:12
Speaker 1: Can't I do it? Do it? Pussy kill me is
• 1:52:15
why I do it. I'd want him to drown me.
• 1:52:17
I wanted to drown me. Or I would say give
• 1:52:19
me those pills, and say, hey, give me those pills,
• 1:52:22
  and I'd take.
• 1:52:22
Speaker 2: A big thing of the pills and I would just
• 1:52:24
like slowly drip my shoulders down and I would just
• 1:52:26
slowly fall asleep in the tub and fucking drown to death.
• 1:52:31
I like, how you had all of that ready.
• 1:52:35
  Speaker 1: I I'll think I'll think about I think about it
• 1:52:40
every day. If anybody drops me off at a fucking
• 1:52:42
nursing home, I'm gonna just tell anybody.
• 1:52:44
Speaker 4: I'll give you I'll leave. I'll leave two hundred dollars. Hey,
• 1:52:47
the tooth fairy left you two hundred dollars to hit
• 1:52:50
me in the head with a hammer until I die.
• 1:52:54
I have two hundred dollars underneath my pillow. The two
• 1:52:57
  lifts something for you.
• 1:52:59
  Speaker 3: Here's the question.
• 1:53:00
Speaker 2: Would you return the favor if you were the young
• 1:53:02
  man in that scenario.
• 1:53:04
  Speaker 1: M No, I don't think I kill anybody, but I
• 1:53:07
would like maybe maybe not saying I would, but maybe
• 1:53:12
if I was like, oh, it's kind of hot in here,
• 1:53:14
and I like fucking propped open the back door and
• 1:53:16
I was left open, I'm like, let's see what nature,
• 1:53:18
whatever happens in nature for the old geriatric man to
• 1:53:23
wander outside here I go and I'd be like, well,
• 1:53:26
I didn't see that, and I'd just walk off, and
• 1:53:28
I'd be like, well, if he comes back, then if
• 1:53:30
he comes back raised by wolves, and he's worth you know,
• 1:53:33
staying alive. If not, then that's just what nature wanted,
• 1:53:35
  is what I would say.
• 1:53:37
Speaker 2: Raised by wolves at eighty five years old exactly, ho.
• 1:53:42
  Speaker 3: Ho?
• 1:53:45
Speaker 2: Or maybe what happens is wolves come into the nursing home.
• 1:53:51
Oh my god, who let these wolves in? You just
• 1:53:56
hear my cars, get off. Drive the fuck out of there.
• 1:54:00
I stayed that you leave the door.
• 1:54:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, my grandma has are wolves.
• 1:54:06
Speaker 1: Exactly, giant pack wolves. I'm driving away, speeding away.
• 1:54:09
Speaker 2: I look back and I see my my grandma's face
• 1:54:11
in the window, and she's like, and she's being fucking
• 1:54:16
torn apart by three by three young Oh, I say,
• 1:54:20
  I mean hungry pups.
• 1:54:21
Speaker 1: You can see their ribs. There's their fucking eyes have
• 1:54:23
been eating out by flies and ship.
• 1:54:25
  Speaker 3: She's like, damn.
• 1:54:31
Speaker 1: That kind of thing.
• 1:54:32
Speaker 3: You feed your grandfather?
• 1:54:35
  Speaker 1: No, no, no, I didn't. I didn't feel I didn't feed
• 1:54:37
him that. I propped the back door off and just
• 1:54:39
nature took its course. Nature took its course. That's what
• 1:54:41
was supposed to happen. I'm gone, I don't even hear that. Right,
• 1:54:46
I'm driving, I'm driving away. I'm driving away. I have
• 1:54:51
to block that out. Because I saw the wolves come in.
• 1:54:53
I definitely know something bad is gonna happen, but I immediately
• 1:54:55
get my I get my mind off of it by
• 1:54:57
blasting the wolves come. No, no, no, yeah, yeah yeah yeah.
• 1:55:02
Speaker 2: So in this in this situation, backdoor is left open
• 1:55:04
and I just just to throw it a little just
• 1:55:06
a let's see what nature says.
• 1:55:07
Speaker 1: I say that right before I get ready to leave.
• 1:55:09
I fucking steal a. I go to an old man,
• 1:55:11
I fucking grab his pudding out of his hand. I said,
• 1:55:13
it's mine. Now he's like my snack pack, and I
• 1:55:15
fucking slap him in the face and I'm eating his
• 1:55:17
chocolate snackpack. I leave open the door. I'm like, let's
• 1:55:20
see what nature has to say. Right And as I'm
• 1:55:22
going to go, I I bump my ass in the
• 1:55:24
door to open it because I have my snackpack, and
• 1:55:26
I like, look, and I'm like, oh shit, and there's
• 1:55:28
five visceral, young hungry pups that come in with one
• 1:55:31
alpha and I do zoincs and I get the fuck
• 1:55:34
out of there. That's what I'm saying. So I see
• 1:55:36
it as I'm going out. But I'm like, oh, nature's already.
• 1:55:38
  Nature's acted so quickly.
• 1:55:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, only acted because you left the door.
• 1:55:44
Speaker 1: I don't know. Nature acted on no no, no, no no.
• 1:55:47
Nature acted on its own. And I and I'm able
• 1:55:49
to say, and I'm you know, and I have to
• 1:55:51
block out the screams of my grandmother and I'm blasting
• 1:55:53
electric avenue in my car. Where are you going?
• 1:55:57
Speaker 3: On rock to electric?
• 1:56:00
Speaker 1: And I'm driving away and I'm speeding.
• 1:56:02
Speaker 2: I'm going like eighty five in a residential neighborhood because
• 1:56:04
  i could.
• 1:56:05
Speaker 1: See my grandma the window pan, hitting the fucking window
• 1:56:09
and stuff. She's never been so strong she almost cracks
• 1:56:11
the window. And I'm like, where was that strength?
• 1:56:14
  Speaker 3: You know?
• 1:56:14
Speaker 2: Oh? Help me here and there I'm like, okay, well,
• 1:56:15
what the fuck that was hiding somewhere? Good luck with that.
• 1:56:19
So and for you to witness all this too, you
• 1:56:22
have to be like four feet from the window, not moving.
• 1:56:26
Just my car, my car stalled out front, so I
• 1:56:30
was sitting there trying to start it, or so you
• 1:56:33
could easily because the door is open well.
• 1:56:38
Speaker 3: Around. I'm not being challenged.
• 1:56:40
Speaker 1: I'm not being challenged by nature, all right. Once again,
• 1:56:42
i just want to say, nature's taking its course right right,
• 1:56:45
  And I'm not.
• 1:56:46
Speaker 2: Going to interfere with women at the nursing home being
• 1:56:49
fed to the pack of wolves that for some reason
• 1:56:52
are right outside the nursing home.
• 1:56:54
Speaker 1: Exactly ready to go. Exactly. Everyone that is supposed to
• 1:57:00
survive nature will survive, and they'll be better off for it,
• 1:57:03
and nature will be happy too. Those young pups will
• 1:57:05
go probably bellies full. That's not for me to decide.
• 1:57:09
Then that's not my fault. That is nature. I'm not
• 1:57:11
going to interfere. Right if you saw it, if you
• 1:57:15
saw a cheetah get grabbed by an alligator, would you
• 1:57:17
dive in to save the cheetah? No, you'd probably say, well,
• 1:57:20
  that's just that's nature.
• 1:57:24
  Speaker 3: Okay, So.
• 1:57:28
Speaker 7: All right, Uh do you think that maybe would I
• 1:57:32
if my grandma was calling me, If my grandma was
• 1:57:36
calling me, hello, ome on, she's on car play, she
• 1:57:38
interrupted my song, I'm fucking pissed electric any pissed.
• 1:57:42
Speaker 1: And then in the in the car play, I'm sitting
• 1:57:45
  there and she's.
• 1:57:46
Speaker 6: Like, Hotter, you need to cut back because there's wolves.
• 1:57:52
Speaker 1: There's wolves in the nursing room.
• 1:57:55
Speaker 2: And I'm like, huh, say what this diver right in
• 1:57:59
  the back of you here.
• 1:58:07
  Speaker 1: They're getting close. I think they're assignment. I'm my grandma.
• 1:58:10
Speaker 2: I'm in a really, really bad intercept. This reception is horrible.
• 1:58:16
I'll be back tuesday. Okay, you take your medicine. Yeah, well,
• 1:58:21
  actually I'm stand now.
• 1:58:21
Speaker 1: In this version, I'm standing at her, looking at her
• 1:58:23
through the window, making eye contact through the glass.
• 1:58:26
  Speaker 2: Are you there?
• 1:58:28
  Speaker 3: I imagining it.
• 1:58:29
Speaker 1: I'm like, I left hours ago, and let's just be
• 1:58:31
  actually just watching it.
• 1:58:32
Speaker 2: I'm like, it's probably those pills because you took you
• 1:58:34
took your funny pills, right, yeah, I did, because you
• 1:58:36
remember you said that they're funny looking.
• 1:58:38
  Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
• 1:58:39
Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, well, I love your grandma. Have
• 1:58:41
a safe sleep. Okay, maybe she just sleeps she gets
• 1:58:43
eaten that way, the wolves come in, rip out her feet.
• 1:58:47
Speaker 2: Oh so here's here's my thoughts. Right, yeah, so you,
• 1:58:55
you and your you in life had a you know,
• 1:58:57
an experience with a grandfather, a traumatic experience that involved dogs. Right,
• 1:59:03
and now, in this fantasy that you've put together for
• 1:59:07
  yourself of an.
• 1:59:08
Speaker 1: Adjacent fantasy that's the wrong word fantasy and scenario scenario, daydream,
• 1:59:16
  well scenario, In this.
• 1:59:17
Speaker 8: Day dream of yours, In this day dream of yours,
• 1:59:21
you see adjacent grandparent, a grandmother in a position of
• 1:59:28
  helplessness where she is at.
• 1:59:31
Speaker 2: A nursing home, one that we know from your mother's
• 1:59:33
own story, your grandfather was placed in the real world.
• 1:59:37
You imagine a grandmother in that same scenario, and in
• 1:59:41
this scenario, you cause a circumstance that allows them to
• 1:59:48
be consumed by wolves, which are really just adjacent to dogs.
• 1:59:53
  Speaker 3: I don't think.
• 1:59:56
Speaker 2: Do you think that in this fiction you've put together,
• 2:00:00
having a grandparent be mauled by wolves by something that
• 2:00:06
is not your fault, as you were arguing, but certainly
• 2:00:09
your contribution being killed by dogs.
• 2:00:12
Speaker 3: I can could contribute. I'm your actual grandfather.
• 2:00:16
Speaker 2: I'm not going to pay dog going to this line
• 2:00:20
down nature, natural order is what it is, the same
• 2:00:24
way you could argue that perhaps your grandfather, you know,
• 2:00:28
in his move to kill you naturally you were barely
• 2:00:31
saying it, although still still was a thing, almost as
• 2:00:34
if it would be an accident for you to leave
• 2:00:36
the door open, would it not?
• 2:00:38
Speaker 1: Well, no, because it was stuffy in there, and I
• 2:00:39
was trying to I was doing a good thing. If
• 2:00:41
I would have left a window open, the same thing.
• 2:00:43
Speaker 2: You accidentally this accidentally because you didn't mean for it
• 2:00:46
to led to the wolves coming in and killing your grandmother.
• 2:00:49
  Speaker 1: Well, that's just that's nature.
• 2:00:51
  Speaker 3: That's nature.
• 2:00:52
Speaker 2: So but that but that is an accident then on
• 2:00:53
your part leaving the door open.
• 2:00:55
Speaker 1: No, because I was intentional, because there was drafting there,
• 2:00:58
because as I said before, fun.
• 2:01:02
Speaker 2: There was a group of old people who said, fun, God,
• 2:01:06
let me finish. There was a group of old people,
• 2:01:07
As I said before I said this in the beginning,
• 2:01:10
a group of old people said.
• 2:01:11
Speaker 1: Oh god, Hatcha, would you be dear?
• 2:01:13
Speaker 5: Could you leave the door open because it's so stuffy.
• 2:01:17
Speaker 1: I said, sure thing, missus Dickinson. And then she gave
• 2:01:20
me your snack pack and she said, hey, here's a treat.
• 2:01:23
Speaker 2: No was I gonna thanks, that's nice, and I grab
• 2:01:25
  the stackpack. I'm eating it.
• 2:01:26
Speaker 1: I prop it opoon because they do that sometimes even
• 2:01:28
the workers like, yeah, no problem, and that's what happened.
• 2:01:31
  Speaker 3: So you're.
• 2:01:36
  Speaker 4: Acts.
• 2:01:36
Speaker 2: So anyone else could say that was an accident then
• 2:01:39
  what you were doing.
• 2:01:40
Speaker 1: But you they should they should have suggested it. I'm
• 2:01:42
not I'm not putting on them, but they should have
• 2:01:44
  suggested it.
• 2:01:45
Speaker 2: You won't detail it as an accident because then you
• 2:01:49
have to acknowledge there's a connection between what you also
• 2:01:52
claim to be an accident, your grandfather almost killing you
• 2:01:55
and instead killing your dog, because then that would draw
• 2:01:57
the parallel too closely. I think that the trial of
• 2:02:00
you experienced with your grandfather shooting your dog next to
• 2:02:03
you is leading you to a scenario, a fantasy in
• 2:02:06
which you, by no fault of your own, cause dogs to.
• 2:02:12
  Speaker 3: Murder a grandparent. I think that that's.
• 2:02:15
Speaker 1: You know, and I think if it helps get the
• 2:02:18
conversation moving to where we can get back to this
• 2:02:20
beautiful story. That's someone in our community, by the way, Isaiah,
• 2:02:23
not that you care, someone crafted for us to read here.
• 2:02:26
Uh that you just seem to You just seem to
• 2:02:28
be wanting to make this tangent as long as possible.
• 2:02:30
Speaker 2: And I like, how, now that I've raised Risen a
• 2:02:33
good point, you now deflect the onus onto me that
• 2:02:36
  I don't care about.
• 2:02:37
Speaker 1: I just want to say, I'm completely lost. I'm lost.
• 2:02:42
  Speaker 3: Huh.
• 2:02:42
  Speaker 2: I don't even know if we're now pulling another We're
• 2:02:44
now pulling another non sequitur. We're now like reaching somewhere
• 2:02:48
else for you to have a different point. At first,
• 2:02:50
it was me not caring about whoever wrote this story
• 2:02:53
or the story itself. Now it's you saying that you
• 2:02:55
cannot be found with it. I think you're dodging the point.
• 2:02:59
Speaker 1: You talk to me, you say these things, you say, Hunter,
• 2:03:03
what do you think of the scenario? I deeply appreciate
• 2:03:05
your opinion. I give you them, and then you just
• 2:03:07
take it and you run wild with it.
• 2:03:09
Speaker 3: Right. Yeah, Now it's my.
• 2:03:10
Speaker 1: Point, I kind of point. It just gets tiring, doesn't right, Right,
• 2:03:16
  I'm sure, I'm sure.
• 2:03:17
Speaker 2: Okay, Well, I think the audience, I think the point
• 2:03:19
has been made very clear to them.
• 2:03:20
Speaker 3: I think they will elaborate with that further.
• 2:03:23
Speaker 2: I just think that's an interesting parallel that when your
• 2:03:26
mind's given a chance to run, it runs back to
• 2:03:29
that recurring trauma. And I care about you because you're
• 2:03:31
my friend, and I think you should talk to someone.
• 2:03:33
  Speaker 3: That's all I'm saying.
• 2:03:34
Speaker 2: After another minute or two of walking down the hall,
• 2:03:37
I made my way into the employee lounge. I didn't
• 2:03:41
think they'd mind me using it, so long as I
• 2:03:43
never took anything that didn't belong to me. There was
• 2:03:46
a small kitchen in it that the staff used to
• 2:03:48
use heat meals they brought in for lunch. Zinc was
• 2:03:52
overflowing with thirty dishes, and flies were buzzing fiercely around it.
• 2:03:56
The marble countertops surrounded the caked in a thick layer
• 2:04:00
of grease and dried sauces. I can't remember the last
• 2:04:03
time the janitor worked. I'd have to bring him in
• 2:04:05
for it later. The cups were kept in a low
• 2:04:08
down cabinet that I always had to get down on
• 2:04:11
my knees for. Mostly this was so the people in
• 2:04:13
wheelchairs could come in and grab a cup when they wanted,
• 2:04:16
but the residents weren't allowed in here anymore. Inside the
• 2:04:19
cabinet there are only a few clean cups in the back,
• 2:04:22
which were hard to reach. I ducked down even lower
• 2:04:25
and used one hand to support myself as the other
• 2:04:28
beach fur a cup, and managed to grab it just
• 2:04:30
by the fingertips. Without warning, my eardrums were suddenly assaulted
• 2:04:34
by the deafening sound of a horn, impossibly loud and
• 2:04:38
coming from all around me at once, uncontrollably, my body
• 2:04:42
jolted up and my head cracked into the lip of
• 2:04:44
the marble counter above me. I dropped the cup and
• 2:04:47
rolled back onto the floor, pressing both my hands against
• 2:04:50
my ears to try to block out the noise, but
• 2:04:52
it did no good. It was as if a train
• 2:04:55
was traveling the distance between my ears and blaring its
• 2:04:58
horn the whole way through. I lay there on the
• 2:05:01
ground with my knees tucked into my chest, my head
• 2:05:03
tucked between them for god knows how long. Eventually, after
• 2:05:06
enough time, the horn began to grow quiet side of
• 2:05:09
my head, not all at once, but in odd fragments
• 2:05:12
and segments. I was able to hear it all around
• 2:05:15
me at first, but I couldn't hear it as much
• 2:05:18
from behind me. Then I could only hear it from
• 2:05:21
either side of me. Then I couldn't hear it at all.
• 2:05:25
The blessing of silence was waylaid with a thrumbing pain
• 2:05:28
behind my eyes. I didn't get up at first, stayed
• 2:05:32
down to collect myself a bit, and he shook a
• 2:05:35
little that I managed to get on to my feet.
• 2:05:37
Saw a few clear drops of blood where my head
• 2:05:39
had begun. Sure enough, I recept where I cracked my head,
• 2:05:43
and my fingers came away wet. I figured I could
• 2:05:46
just get my glass of water later, and while trying
• 2:05:49
not to freak out, I left the lounge take my
• 2:05:51
way to the first floor. Building has three floors, the
• 2:05:54
first being the floor were with all the activity rooms,
• 2:05:57
the reception area with all the offices, and the main kidding.
• 2:06:01
Second and third floors are full of residents in a
• 2:06:03
few smaller miscellaneous rooms. I'd only been up to the
• 2:06:06
third floor once or twice when I accidentally hit the
• 2:06:09
wrong elevator button and didn't realize it. I never saw
• 2:06:13
a need to go up there otherwise, so I didn't.
• 2:06:15
It was where most of the hospice patients and students
• 2:06:17
at the local medical school would reside. The hallway I
• 2:06:20
walked down was full of wheelchairs and walkers, most of
• 2:06:23
them empty, spare one with a fat old man sitting
• 2:06:26
in it. He looks like a chaeruh, but with a
• 2:06:29
full beard, his skin pale and his cheeks chubby. His
• 2:06:33
hair was sparse and wispy against his scalp, and his
• 2:06:35
head was stilted to lean on his shoulder like a pillow.
• 2:06:38
I know it would be hard to wake him up.
• 2:06:40
I tiptoed around him anyway, just to be polite. A
• 2:06:42
few yards passed it, did the rapture happen? Is that
• 2:06:46
what the train hornsund? And now like this one guy
• 2:06:48
leves to just share his Maybe A few yards past
• 2:06:55
him was the main desk for the second floor. It
• 2:06:58
was where the nurses and assistants on the floor worked
• 2:07:00
to maintain comfort safety for the residence. As I walked
• 2:07:04
past it, I could see Missus Dawson down a perpendicular hallway.
• 2:07:07
Her head was on a swivel, as if she was
• 2:07:09
trying to find something that wasn't there. I'd let the
• 2:07:12
nurse take care of her after me after the desk,
• 2:07:15
inside a large room. Just off the side was the
• 2:07:18
elevator and stairs to go down well stairs. At least
• 2:07:21
the elevator had been broken for some time. The doors
• 2:07:24
were permanently jammed open and revealed a long, dark drop underneath.
• 2:07:28
It wasn't mcdildough. I just made sure the door to
• 2:07:30
this room was shut tight so the residence would be safe.
• 2:07:33
Made my way down the stairs. The sun shone brighter
• 2:07:37
down here thanks to the floor to ceiling windows to
• 2:07:39
the left and right at the front desk.
• 2:07:41
Speaker 3: Stairs led me to the main reception area just passed
• 2:07:44
  the front doors.
• 2:07:45
Speaker 2: The only noise heard here away from the residence was
• 2:07:48
a music that odd and incomprehensible music. I made my
• 2:07:52
way over and leaned down over the guest sign and
• 2:07:55
sheet and signed myself out as a visitor. I walked
• 2:07:58
past the desk after signing my signature and opened a
• 2:08:00
door into a back office, then walked over to a computer,
• 2:08:03
pooted it up, and began to write something I took
• 2:08:05
up recently, keeping a log of my days here. I've
• 2:08:09
been thinking about posting them somewhere where I could talk
• 2:08:12
to someone like me, but I haven't decided yet. I
• 2:08:15
guess if you're reading this, then you already know my decision.
• 2:08:19
I'm not sure why I decided to write. I think
• 2:08:21
it just makes me feel more sure of myself. Comforts
• 2:08:24
me in some strange way, like I'm assuring myself that
• 2:08:27
I am real and I exist. It means I'll have
• 2:08:29
something to look back at and organize my thoughts with.
• 2:08:33
Speaker 3: Done. Stupid, but it's been working as a sort.
• 2:08:35
Speaker 1: Of therapy for me.
• 2:08:36
Speaker 2: I had saved on my document to turn the computer off.
• 2:08:39
Half of my day's log was done, yet another half
• 2:08:41
of the day still on. Lived right about two rooms
• 2:08:45
over from the first office was a storage room with
• 2:08:48
some uniforms and tools for the workers I'd set aside,
• 2:08:50
and we had to strip off all my clothes and
• 2:08:52
hang them from the hooks on the back of the door.
• 2:08:54
Even my socks and underwear came off. I was as
• 2:08:57
fair as the day I was born, and by one
• 2:09:00
I perused the uniforms I had gathered in this room.
• 2:09:03
There's a dark purple males nurses outfit on a shelf,
• 2:09:07
and a neatly folded pile that I decided on under
• 2:09:10
where I was on top, and the socks, pants, the shirt.
• 2:09:13
After that, I made sure they were all in place
• 2:09:15
as I found them the first time, making sure to
• 2:09:17
tighten the drawshrink on the pants tightly. There were Twoesa's
• 2:09:20
size is too big for me, but I may do
• 2:09:22
as best as I could hold on.
• 2:09:24
  Speaker 3: So what.
• 2:09:29
Speaker 2: The clothes he's found he's been stealing and putting back here? Yeah, okay,
• 2:09:34
we're gonna keep reading with a few antiseptic wipes.
• 2:09:37
Speaker 3: Since the ointment in hand, I made my way out
• 2:09:39
  into the quiet hall.
• 2:09:41
Speaker 2: My footsteps on the linoleum floor went tap, tap, tap,
• 2:09:44
almost in time to the song playing. As they carried
• 2:09:47
me towards the bathroom. I had to clean some dust
• 2:09:49
off the mirror first before I could see myself clearly,
• 2:09:52
but I managed to twist my head and away I
• 2:09:54
could see the cut on my scalp and clean it
• 2:09:56
up properly. One task was completed. Now Missus Dawson needed atension.
• 2:10:00
My mother would probably be awake by then. I could
• 2:10:03
give her some water and maybe cook some food after
• 2:10:05
that too. But as I opened the door to the bathroom,
• 2:10:08
something caught my attention. Smell one that surprisingly enticed me.
• 2:10:13
At first, I'll be it confusingly smelled like toasting fresh bread.
• 2:10:17
When I was a kid, my mother used to bake
• 2:10:19
her own bread, his hobby of hers. Coming home from school,
• 2:10:22
only to open the door and smell that incredible cent
• 2:10:24
of bread fresh out of the oven was bliss. Even
• 2:10:27
more than that, sometimes when I had a bad day,
• 2:10:30
she would make me a grilled cheese to cheer me up.
• 2:10:33
Smell I was smelling was just like I remembered it.
• 2:10:35
Someone nearby was making grilled cheese. I'm not sure who
• 2:10:39
could be doing it, but almost cartoonishly, I followed the
• 2:10:41
smell down the hallways. Granted, the smell didn't seem any
• 2:10:45
stronger or weaker as I walked, but it must be
• 2:10:48
coming from the kitchen. There's no other explanation. So towards
• 2:10:51
the kitchen I walked, and as I did, smell changed.
• 2:10:54
The bread began to burn. I picked up the pace.
• 2:10:57
Smell of lush, fluffy, warm bread turned turning acrid and
• 2:11:02
borderline noxious. But the kitchen seemed so far away. Every
• 2:11:06
step of mine drew me closer, and it had had to.
• 2:11:09
But as I looked around, I found myself still in
• 2:11:11
the doorway to the bathroom. The door hadn't even closed yet,
• 2:11:14
it was leaning against my shoulder. Somehow, even after what
• 2:11:17
felt like at least sixty seconds of walking, I was
• 2:11:20
standing totally still. That's exactly where I first smelt the bread.
• 2:11:24
It didn't make sense. I had to be imagining it.
• 2:11:28
There was no one in the kitchen, no one was
• 2:11:30
cooking grilled cheese, and my legs most definitely still worked.
• 2:11:33
Speaker 3: Took a step forward, then another, the third.
• 2:11:37
Speaker 2: The first step shifted my left arm, the second turned
• 2:11:39
my head, and the third flexed my core. Something had
• 2:11:42
gone horribly wrong with me. Panic began to set in
• 2:11:45
as I realized my own body was outside of my control,
• 2:11:48
and that's when the world around me began to change.
• 2:11:51
It was as if I had stepped into my own
• 2:11:53
blurry memory. If I unfocused my eyes, I could see
• 2:11:56
the familiar shape of the lobby around me, But if
• 2:11:58
I tried to look any closer or all, the details
• 2:12:00
began to blur together. Under the objects I could see
• 2:12:04
had any outline blending into each other to form new
• 2:12:06
shapes I never even dreamed of, yet each one looks
• 2:12:09
so familiar. Objects in the background linked in and are
• 2:12:13
twined with objects in the foreground, and the difference between
• 2:12:15
the two became indecipherable to me. I know this place,
• 2:12:20
where I am and where to go, but felt like
• 2:12:22
  this place.
• 2:12:23
Speaker 3: Did not know me. The one constant in this lobby
• 2:12:26
  was the song.
• 2:12:27
Speaker 2: Still the music played, but as my senses warped in
• 2:12:29
my mind muddled, the noise swam around me, wiggling into
• 2:12:33
my brain and checking itself into my nerves. The words
• 2:12:36
in the song seemed so close to understandable. I know
• 2:12:39
I had heard them before, but the more I tried
• 2:12:41
to place them, the further away my thoughts ran from me.
• 2:12:45
I tried to close my eyes and block out the
• 2:12:47
side of my world slipping away, but my eyes did
• 2:12:50
not listen. Instead, my legs began to move, to carry
• 2:12:53
me to a place I could not know, because I
• 2:12:55
could not tell the difference. Logically, I know I was
• 2:12:58
still in the lobby, maybe in the kitchen or the bathroom,
• 2:13:02
  but for all I could.
• 2:13:03
Speaker 3: Tell, it might have been the other side of the world.
• 2:13:05
Speaker 2: In that moment, I couldn't form a real thought my
• 2:13:08
inner monologue sounded like it was speaking in a foreign language.
• 2:13:12
Words came in the wrong order, the wrong parts were emphasized.
• 2:13:16
Some words just seemed entirely made up. It was getting
• 2:13:19
worse by the minute, so I decided I needed something
• 2:13:21
to latch onto. By bit, I tried to move for
• 2:13:24
myself to take some amount of control. Try to shift
• 2:13:28
my shoulder, My toe wriggled. Try to move my toe
• 2:13:31
and my knee bent. I tried to move my knees
• 2:13:34
and my jaw clinched down hard through brute force, and
• 2:13:37
with an incredible amount of luck, I managed to close
• 2:13:40
my hand. I felt something in my palm, something I
• 2:13:43
had felt before but just couldn't remember what. I squeezed
• 2:13:47
it hard, trying to use it to anchor my body
• 2:13:49
in place and stop me from moving. I'm not sure
• 2:13:52
if it was just my eyes playing tricks on me,
• 2:13:54
or if I actually was moving. But the walls and
• 2:13:57
colors around me continued to shift and meld. Something did
• 2:14:00
change that I never could have imagined. Someone began to scream.
• 2:14:05
It was shrill and pierced my ears. If I could
• 2:14:08
have wieled my arms to I would have checked if
• 2:14:10
they were bleeding, definitiing always around me, except that god
• 2:14:14
forsaken song It's still played. I have no idea how,
• 2:14:18
but even through the otherworldly scream, I managed to hear it.
• 2:14:22
The lyrics seemed to speak to me Through all things
• 2:14:25
around me, they alone connected. I could not see what
• 2:14:28
was around me, I could not feel the ground beneath
• 2:14:31
my feet, and my mind was in more pieces than
• 2:14:34
  I could hope to reassemble.
• 2:14:36
Speaker 1: But I began to understand and give us this day
• 2:14:38
  our daily bread.
• 2:14:40
Speaker 2: My grip tighten, and my body began to seize and
• 2:14:42
for give us our trespasses. Everything in front of me
• 2:14:45
  began to swirl, twist is.
• 2:14:47
Speaker 1: To forgive those who trespass against us.
• 2:14:50
Speaker 2: My jaw was still clenched, muscles tightening and relaxing against
• 2:14:53
my will, and finally my eyelids began to close.
• 2:14:56
Speaker 3: Every thought in my head like sand running through my fingers.
• 2:15:00
Speaker 1: And to slip away.
• 2:15:01
Speaker 2: I lay there for some amount of time, I'm not
• 2:15:03
sure how long, until my body relaxed. Whatever my hand
• 2:15:07
was gripping slipped away, scream easing into a gentle, meek sob.
• 2:15:12
The music has always persisted, but I could no longer
• 2:15:15
make out with the words, and what I could only
• 2:15:17
describe is the first moment to listen the whole or
• 2:15:19
deal my consciousness faded away. Interesting, So I made the
• 2:15:23
joke about the raptor earlier. This might actually be the rapture,
• 2:15:26
considering he's hearing the Lord's prayer and there's people missing
• 2:15:32
out of wheelchairs like they were raptured up, and then
• 2:15:34
  there's a singing coming.
• 2:15:36
Speaker 3: And it seems that the description of I may need
• 2:15:39
  to reread that.
• 2:15:40
Speaker 2: But that description of I was walking through the hospital
• 2:15:43
and I'd collected clothes I had found. That almost makes
• 2:15:45
it sound like people raptured out of their clothes and
• 2:15:47
the clothes left mind. And he's been living in here
• 2:15:49
for some time, maybe taking care of the elderly patience
• 2:15:52
and keeping clothes. I don't know, but yeah, I feel
• 2:15:57
it's obviously religious because the song he keeps hearing is
• 2:16:01
the Lord's prayer, So maybe that is what's going on.
• 2:16:04
  Speaker 3: I don't know.
• 2:16:05
Speaker 2: Took hours for me to wake up. I'm not sure
• 2:16:07
how many, but when I woke I was greeted with
• 2:16:09
pale moonlight. Three PM. When I finished the movie with
• 2:16:12
my mom. Now it was the middle of the night. Okay,
• 2:16:15
so all that was a dream, right, mmm? I think
• 2:16:20
well yeah, with him saying it took ash me to
• 2:16:22
wake up, so I'm guessing. I'm guessing that this just.
• 2:16:25
Speaker 1: Felt like has some like super long feeling, you know,
• 2:16:29
I mean, like whenever her dream feels like it's almost
• 2:16:30
  years or something like.
• 2:16:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, like I mentioned it like a full night. Yeah, yeah,
• 2:16:35
  I think so.
• 2:16:36
Speaker 2: My mouth was dry as a desert and my entire
• 2:16:38
body was sore as if I had just had the
• 2:16:40
workout of my life. It was lying flat on my
• 2:16:42
back on some heart surface, but I didn't need to
• 2:16:45
look around and know where I was.
• 2:16:47
Speaker 3: Just hang in there.
• 2:16:48
Speaker 2: The poster said, little cat was hanging from a branch
• 2:16:51
in the captioned photo. It's a poster that I got
• 2:16:54
for my mom when she first moved into the nursing home,
• 2:16:57
like when the doctor said there was a chance she
• 2:16:59
could get better, just taped her ceiling and she thought
• 2:17:02
it was hilarious, even with the rest of the family
• 2:17:04
thought it was odd since my aching body's wishes. I
• 2:17:08
shifted myself into a sitting position and looked around me.
• 2:17:12
The Xbox had long since gone into sleep mode, and
• 2:17:14
the smell permeated the air. Let me know I needed
• 2:17:17
to change her diaper. Dragged myself to my feet and
• 2:17:19
looked at her, her eyes meeting immediately, and I, like usual,
• 2:17:24
forced a big smile on my face.
• 2:17:26
Speaker 3: Was the first time since she had her first stroke.
• 2:17:29
Didn't know what to say. What had she seen?
• 2:17:33
Speaker 2: What did I get here? What happened to me downstairs?
• 2:17:36
Whether or not she knew the answer sent matter. She
• 2:17:39
couldn't tell me even if I asked. A growing familiar
• 2:17:41
suspicion grewom I got and I decided to focus on
• 2:17:44
  what she needed first.
• 2:17:46
Speaker 3: I could take care of myself.
• 2:17:48
Speaker 2: She couldn't you thirsty, mom, I'm sorry it's so late.
• 2:17:52
I'll make some food in a bit. I'm sure I
• 2:17:54
can find something to cook up for us.
• 2:17:55
Speaker 3: Her good eyes stared into my soul. It was puffy
• 2:17:58
and red. She had been crying.
• 2:18:01
Speaker 2: I reached out to the bed next to her bed,
• 2:18:03
grabbing her communication sheet, pull it up for She shakily
• 2:18:07
reached out. Her good arm pointed a slack finger at yes.
• 2:18:11
I adjested my smile and beyan to speak, but her
• 2:18:14
arm began to shift, pointed to something else on the sheet.
• 2:18:17
Speaker 3: She pointed at help, then slowly and steadily. She raised
• 2:18:21
her arm and pointed outside the room.
• 2:18:25
Speaker 1: Help a sign? Does someone need Does someone else need help?
• 2:18:31
Speaker 2: The day is over and I haven't had food or
• 2:18:34
taken care of any of the residents yet. My mom
• 2:18:37
has always been the kind of person who puts other
• 2:18:39
people's well being in front of her own, so when
• 2:18:41
she said help outside, it just seemed obvious to me.
• 2:18:46
Speaker 1: Okay, Mom, I'll make sure everyone is okay, but don't
• 2:18:49
you fall asleep in that diaper again. I'll throw a
• 2:18:52
movie on for you and it'll be back before it's over. Okay.
• 2:18:55
Speaker 2: Through on Christmas movie we used to watch together when
• 2:18:58
I was a kid, and told her I've sure before
• 2:19:00
walking out, so I left. I heard her let out
• 2:19:03
a little groan that told me she had hit the
• 2:19:05
morphine button. I needed to check her machine later. She
• 2:19:08
seemed to be going through more morphine every week lately.
• 2:19:11
I'm not sure what I'll do when I run out. Okay,
• 2:19:14
so he keeps saying stuff like that, what I'll do
• 2:19:17
when I run out? The outfits I found it's like
• 2:19:19
he's been the only one here for a while, because
• 2:19:22
normally you would wait on the nurses to refill the
• 2:19:24
morphine machine, right, but he's like, what I'll do when
• 2:19:26
  I run out?
• 2:19:27
Speaker 3: So has he been here for a while, just the
• 2:19:29
  two of them?
• 2:19:30
Speaker 1: Maybe it's hard to say, because that's what I'm wondering too,
• 2:19:33
is is was it not a dream and he just
• 2:19:35
woke up like he went to bed, woke up and
• 2:19:37
then he's still it is kind of like reality, you
• 2:19:39
  know what I mean, Like I wasn't a dream.
• 2:19:41
Speaker 2: That also explains why he went and started writing all
• 2:19:44
this on a computer in the nursing home. Yeah, because
• 2:19:48
he's just been here by himself, almost taking care of
• 2:19:50
all the patients on his own, what few were left.
• 2:19:56
  Speaker 3: Outside of her.
• 2:19:57
Speaker 2: This also explains why he needs to be the one
• 2:19:59
to go help outside instead of, you know, the rest
• 2:20:01
of the people that worked there. Outside of her room
• 2:20:03
on the rest of the second floor, all the lights
• 2:20:05
were still brightly lit, went from room to room and
• 2:20:07
made a list of what each resident needed. Yes, Okay,
• 2:20:10
so he's definitely the clothes he talked about finding the
• 2:20:13
ones that are too big. Is because he's just wearing
• 2:20:15
the clothes He's taking care of everyone in the nursing
• 2:20:17
home because he's the only person left. Yeah, I haven't
• 2:20:20
checked the empty rooms, just to check that someone hadn't
• 2:20:23
made their way inside. There were nine residents in their rooms,
• 2:20:26
not including my mom. But unfortunately, when it passed away
• 2:20:29
while I was conscious, it looked like her breathing apper
• 2:20:32
at his head come undone and she suffocated. Found her
• 2:20:35
on the ground halfway across the floor of the room,
• 2:20:37
  presumably trying to crawl to.
• 2:20:39
Speaker 3: It for some hope of fresh oxygen.
• 2:20:41
Speaker 2: The ground by her hands was scuffed and her nails
• 2:20:43
were all filed down her fingertips a desperate attempt to
• 2:20:46
pull herself forward. With a deep sigh, I walked out
• 2:20:50
of the room, closed the door, locked it with a
• 2:20:52
  master key, and walked away.
• 2:20:54
Speaker 3: There or eight residents in their rooms, not including my mom.
• 2:20:57
Speaker 2: Some residents weren't happy to be woken up by me,
• 2:21:00
but I was sure waking up hungry or sick tomorrow
• 2:21:02
would be much worse. Two of them asking me about
• 2:21:05
some horrendous noise they heard, some kind of yelling. I
• 2:21:08
reassured them everything was okay and everyone was happy. Moved
• 2:21:11
on to the next room. Eventually I had a list
• 2:21:14
of everyone's needs, from diaper changes to food, especially the
• 2:21:17
nighttime medicine that some needed only one person was missing
• 2:21:21
from my list, Missus Dawson. She wasn't in her room
• 2:21:25
like usual, and I didn't see her walking around the
• 2:21:27
hallways either. I been down on my gut feeling that
• 2:21:31
something was wrong and just assumed she was in a
• 2:21:33
staff room or perhaps the floor's main bathroom.
• 2:21:36
Speaker 3: She didn't turn up in either.
• 2:21:38
Speaker 2: I realized something then I'd come upstairs with my stupor,
• 2:21:41
which means I made it past the door revealing the
• 2:21:43
elevator shaft, feeling similar to a rock singing in my stomach.
• 2:21:47
Speaker 3: Kitney. As I turned my walk into a run down
• 2:21:50
  the hallway.
• 2:21:51
Speaker 2: I could already see the door of the elevator and stairroom,
• 2:21:53
just past the nurse's desk, which was halfway open. Painting
• 2:21:57
said him once more, And as I ran, I almost
• 2:21:59
missed it sound of someone crying. I practically trip trying
• 2:22:03
to slow down my run. So suddenly it was a miracle.
• 2:22:06
I heard it all over my footsteps and the sound
• 2:22:08
of the music playing. Sound was coming from the nurses desk.
• 2:22:12
It was a large circular desk with four computers facing
• 2:22:15
each hallway and an island in the middle that served
• 2:22:18
to hold paperwork for the whole floor. I put one
• 2:22:22
of the flip up countertops that stepped into the desk
• 2:22:24
to see the source of the crime. Curled up underneath
• 2:22:27
the desk, doing her best shop at being invisible, was
• 2:22:30
Missus Dawson. She looked at me with fear in her eyes,
• 2:22:34
but I don't think she was afraid of me, just
• 2:22:35
afraid of the world around her. Her eyes were puffy,
• 2:22:38
like she had been crying for a long time, and
• 2:22:40
  her cane wastwhere in sight.
• 2:22:42
Speaker 1: Missus Dawson, are you okay?
• 2:22:44
Speaker 3: Do you need help?
• 2:22:45
  Speaker 1: Up?
• 2:22:46
Speaker 3: Every word I spoke under twitch.
• 2:22:48
Speaker 5: Yes, please, it hurts.
• 2:22:51
Speaker 4: I need you to help me.
• 2:22:53
Speaker 3: I took her hand and lifted her her feet, letting
• 2:22:56
her lean as much weight as she needed on me.
• 2:22:59
She was so light. Considered carrying her, but it felt disrespectful.
• 2:23:03
  Speaker 8: Is he gone?
• 2:23:05
Speaker 1: Is who gone? Ma'am?
• 2:23:06
Speaker 2: So lifts to turn to the light. Goldn't take my
• 2:23:09
eyes away from her arm. Her upper arm, just above
• 2:23:12
her elbow, was a mess of purples, yellows, and pinks.
• 2:23:15
It's a large bruise, and I couldn't help but notice
• 2:23:18
it was about as wide as my hand.
• 2:23:20
Speaker 1: Was that man who was here earlier, I thought he
• 2:23:24
worked here but then something happened.
• 2:23:27
Speaker 3: Her words tragged, each one taking a conscious effort on
• 2:23:30
  her part.
• 2:23:31
Speaker 1: What happened? Do you know how you got this bruise?
• 2:23:34
Speaker 2: I asked, hoping to at least get some fragments of
• 2:23:37
what happened. Fortunately, her broken mind worked against her. It's
• 2:23:40
  like I'd had for years.
• 2:23:41
Speaker 1: Now, Bruce, what Bruce dare?
• 2:23:45
Speaker 3: I decided not to press the matter more. She may
• 2:23:47
not remember it, but I had a growing suspicion in my.
• 2:23:50
Speaker 2: Gut about how she got it, like a root catching
• 2:23:54
the soil the gnawine, feeling that I did something very
• 2:23:56
wrong crew inside of me. I took her to her
• 2:23:59
room and said down on her bed, gently helping her
• 2:24:02
get on to it to lie down. Her arm needed
• 2:24:05
medical attention in medicine, her body needed food to begin
• 2:24:08
to heal itself, and before she tried to get up
• 2:24:11
in the morning, I needed to get her a cane.
• 2:24:14
My head spawned with all the work I needed to do.
• 2:24:16
My body was sore and fatigue in my mind was
• 2:24:18
fogging full of holes. I'm here in the office now
• 2:24:21
typing this up. I'm going to include this in the
• 2:24:24
same daily log as the previous one. Doesn't make sense
• 2:24:27
to me to make it a new one, even if
• 2:24:29
it's technically after midnight. Now I'm not sure what happened
• 2:24:32
to me, and I don't think the people living here
• 2:24:34
will be any help to me anyway. I think that's
• 2:24:37
why I made the decision I did to post this
• 2:24:40
online somewhere. I just stroke today, sure of it. My
• 2:24:44
mother's life was anything to go by. Who knows how
• 2:24:46
soon the next one would come. I think I know
• 2:24:49
for sure said another one would come. I'm not sure
• 2:24:52
if there's anyone left for this to even reach, but
• 2:24:55
I don't see the harm of posting it. I had
• 2:24:58
to type it out real quick while I was still
• 2:25:01
fresh in my memory, with all the grainy details still
• 2:25:03
fit together. But now I need to go take care
• 2:25:06
of my residence. I'm not good at goodbyes, so I'll
• 2:25:09
just say that I hope to hear something anything.
• 2:25:12
Speaker 3: If I do. Thank you. Note to self to lead
• 2:25:16
  any mention of Johnny.
• 2:25:20
Speaker 1: An. That's a fun, nice little uh beginning to a series.
• 2:25:23
Speaker 3: Interesting? This is cool? Okay?
• 2:25:25
Speaker 2: So it sounds like maybe even from maybe I've misread
• 2:25:28
the beginning of the story. Maybe from the beginning, he's
• 2:25:31
been here by himself, like the story opens there, or
• 2:25:35
maybe it's whenever he hears that large train horn or something.
• 2:25:38
But at some point everyone else disappears, and he says
• 2:25:41
at the end, I don't even know if there's anyone
• 2:25:43
out there to read this. So maybe it is like
• 2:25:47
the Rapture. Everyone disappeared and like just their clothes are
• 2:25:50
left behind, and he doesn't know what's coming. He doesn't
• 2:25:53
know if it's the end of the world or what.
• 2:25:55
But he's just here with a few old people and
• 2:25:56
he's decided to take care of them. But he he
• 2:25:59
has a weird like he has this weird, foggy vision
• 2:26:02
that reminds him of his childhood and all the shapes,
• 2:26:04
nothing looks right. Then he wakes up years later. He
• 2:26:06
might have hurt Missus Dawson. And there's also the mention
• 2:26:08
to delete any mention of Johnny. So this Johnny character
• 2:26:12
showed up somewhere in the story but was supposedly deleted.
• 2:26:14
Speaker 3: So what does he have to do with any of this?
• 2:26:16
Speaker 2: And who is Johnny that? There's so many interesting questions.
• 2:26:19
This is such a fun scenario, the nursing home at
• 2:26:21
the end of the world, just a guy taking care
• 2:26:23
of everyone by himself, what an awesome setup.
• 2:26:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, I like the rapture part of it as well,
• 2:26:28
Like think just the hip having to basically almost be
• 2:26:33
this like a like I'm wondering if he's gonna start
• 2:26:36
  trying to help people pass.
• 2:26:37
Speaker 3: On hmm, you know what I mean. Oh, that'd be dark.
• 2:26:41
He's trying to take them to the next word in
• 2:26:43
  the next world.
• 2:26:43
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, like prepping them up to do that after life.
• 2:26:46
Speaker 2: And that's why I'm wondering too, Like if he like
• 2:26:49
starts carrying on this responsibility, what's the Fairyman of the dead?
• 2:26:53
Speaker 1: Is it tirn or something like that.
• 2:26:56
  Speaker 3: I think that's right. I think it's different. Yes, it's
• 2:26:59
probably different per culture or whatever.
• 2:27:02
Speaker 2: But that just makes you think of some m It's
• 2:27:04
  a fun Yeah, it's a it's a fun uh fun
• 2:27:07
beginning to something of like a little series.
• 2:27:10
Speaker 1: And I do think that we we we need, we
• 2:27:12
need part two up on the subreddit and we need
• 2:27:16
to know why. I want to know why the second ones.
• 2:27:17
Speaker 2: We need to know why part two because Part two
• 2:27:20
is still on theirs like they're personal. I think they
• 2:27:23
just posted it to their own page, because yeah, it
• 2:27:27
looks like it's just they just posted it I didn't
• 2:27:29
know you could do that on rap but you don't
• 2:27:30
have to post it to a sub.
• 2:27:31
Speaker 3: They just posted themselves. And then they also posted it
• 2:27:34
  to r slash Deep Night.
• 2:27:35
Speaker 2: Society, which is another like you know, scary story thing
• 2:27:38
and r slash scary Stories. And it didn't get taken
• 2:27:40
down from there, so I would know why it got
• 2:27:43
getting cut off. Mostek makes sense stuff gets cut off
• 2:27:46
there all the time. Why did it get taken off
• 2:27:48
  of creep cast?
• 2:27:48
Speaker 3: I want to know? To know this, we need to
• 2:27:51
have internal investigation. How cool was it though?
• 2:27:53
Speaker 1: So many different kinds of stories from viewers here. I
• 2:27:58
definitely we need to read more viewers submission to Please
• 2:28:01
take time and if you have written something, share it
• 2:28:03
with us on the sub on the subreddit, you know,
• 2:28:05
use the tag fan made story. Uh, we got we
• 2:28:09
got some fun stuff of like obviously somebody's like, you know, redacted,
• 2:28:12
please come back redacted. We need you for the loss
• 2:28:16
of innocence. That was just I mean, it's just it
• 2:28:18
was a fun day of reading. I don't know it
• 2:28:20
was this was This was a nice also too, almost
• 2:28:22
almost three hours. I feel like it flew by. I
• 2:28:25
really liked the the third story was good. I really
• 2:28:28
loved this last one. I want to see the rest
• 2:28:30
of it. Yeah, lots of innocence. Fine, it's fun.
• 2:28:32
Speaker 2: Uh. And then the third one we read, which was
• 2:28:36
the book that Doesn't end fun, awesome story, Thank you
• 2:28:39
  very much, I think.
• 2:28:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm pretty sure that stuff was in reference to
• 2:28:42
  my stuff.
• 2:28:42
Speaker 2: It means a lot to see someone writing cool stories
• 2:28:44
  after being inspired by us.
• 2:28:46
  Speaker 3: That's cool.
• 2:28:46
Speaker 2: But also that second story very much. The woman I'm
• 2:28:50
missing for I like this. That one actually scared me. Yeah,
• 2:28:52
that one actually got me spooped.
• 2:28:54
  Speaker 3: A little bit.
• 2:28:54
Speaker 1: That had a lot of Like I said, the build
• 2:28:56
up of the anticipation of the story was so effect
• 2:29:00
so simple too. It's just a guy sitting down reading
• 2:29:02
a book, but it's telled in a way where it feels,
• 2:29:06
once again refreshing. It feels like you're on the edge
• 2:29:08
of your seat reading in. I'm really curious to see
• 2:29:10
how people like that one. Also, let us know which
• 2:29:11
one you like the most. Done there and be sure.
• 2:29:13

Speaker 2: Yeah, everyone here, everyone's funny, everyone writes cool. So this
• 2:30:01
is just like we just scrolled through today and we're like,
• 2:30:03

We will see you next week.
• 2:30:39
Speaker 3: Bye bye, See you in the next one.
• 2:30:42

• 2:30:46
  on Team Bye.
