- 0:00All right into Gracie as a generation ZE representative here on the show, we
- 0:03have some things, Amanda and I we want to school you on kay because
- 0:06a list came out of the things that your generation is missing out on totally
- 0:09because he didn't grow up in the eighties or the nineties aka the good old
- 0:14days. A Seriously, though, like you into Gracey will never know what
- 0:18actual boredom is, like, like real, real boredom. That is true.
- 0:22Like you, at all times we got your phone. You can literally
- 0:25do I could watch any video in the world, any movie, just sitting
- 0:28there right now on my phone. Yeah. Did you ever have to sit
- 0:30in a waiting room and just look at the Scholastic books and be like,
- 0:34man, I can't even do the maze because somebody else did it before me.
- 0:37I mean maybe when I was younger, but that was when I didn't
- 0:39have a phone. But yeah, that's true. I guess every kid.
- 0:42But you know, now kids, did you know iPads? And oh yeah
- 0:46yeah? Or your mom is with you, it's like here you go,
- 0:48right quiet, sitting in church. It's like, okay, what can I
- 0:52Okay, I'll just read the lyrics to this hymn. You integracie. Did
- 0:55you ever get to browse a video rental store? You remember ever doing that,
- 0:58like in a Friday night going to rent a move movie. No,
- 1:00I just had those the Red Bus. Oh my gosh, I forgot about
- 1:04Red Box. Yeah, when Netflix was like you literally get mailed at DVD.
- 1:10That's how they started. Yeah, not just break all the time the
- 1:12DVD. Yeah, the way they sent them because they were just in that
- 1:15little slip yeah just yea. Yeah. No, that was a good old
- 1:19time going to that Take two video or cash Wise video, a little Hollywood
- 1:23video in wood you know. Oh yeah, Actually there was one in Morehead
- 1:26when I was growing up that I used to go to with my dad,
- 1:30but that closed when I was like six. Yeah, they all closed a
- 1:33little fuzzy when the Cashwise video and Morehead closed. I had a home alone
- 1:37two rented and I already had not returned it. I had a late fee,
- 1:38which is like a dollar or whatever. But then it went to collections.
- 1:42I found out years later get out. Because of that, I had
- 1:46a pretty dumpeak credits. No, it's fun. Remember did you see the
- 1:51comment It was Take two video. It's like Take too and they had the
- 1:53kid in the commercials, the local commercials forever. I don't remember that,
- 1:57so is like take too video or if you want it, you got it.
- 2:00This little curly head kid and it's funny because now his name is Jack
- 2:02and he's like a big guy in the music scene here in Fargo, So
- 2:06shout out Jack. But it's like I know I saw him. That's kind
- 2:08of like a celebrity. Holy cow. The excitement of getting back developed film.
- 2:13You ever had to develop a roll of film? No thrilling, just
- 2:16thrilling. Last weekend at the Lake, I ran into like three cameras that
- 2:21had not been developed yet. Little nervous because I'm assuming they're mine, no
- 2:24idea where they're from. With it from if it was a bonfire party prom
- 2:30who knows what it could be from, could get arrested for potentially. I
- 2:34love. I still though, Do you have just boxes and boxes of pictures
- 2:38from high school? Not really? I'm pretty sure there was like one photo
- 2:40of me as a child, just one, just one, just the one.
- 2:44This will shock you. My girlfriends and I love taking pictures. Oh
- 2:46yeah, really, I know, like yeahs one hour photo saw us on
- 2:52the daily pretty much TV Guide, Remember flipping through the old TV Guide getting
- 2:57excited about a show that's gonna aired four days from today. Oh, I
- 3:00do the worst part of a cable. I guess it still exists. But
- 3:02remember you'd see a show you're on the like the Guide channel, and you'd
- 3:06see like, oh, yes, like you know, Dumb and Dumbers on,
- 3:08Oh it's the last like eight minutes before you sit there, and you'd
- 3:13have to wait because you'd have like one hundred channels that it would scroll through,
- 3:15but you only had six of them, so you had to wait until
- 3:17it came back around to be like, oh, that's what time nut show
- 3:20is gonna be ony good old days. You really missed out, grazy it
- 3:23sounds like I did. Now you can just google it, like in a
- 3:27minute in the morning, Big Nutty eight point seven Tonight, you know,
- 3:30the powerball drawing will happen again as nobody won Monday, so the total has
- 3:36gone up to now one billion dollars one billion with a B. This is
- 3:39the third largest in powerball history. So you know you might be wondering,
- 3:44well, how much do you really get well after the lump sum if you
- 3:46take the one lump sum payment most people do you get five hundred and sixteen
- 3:52point eight billion. You know, it's crazy that you always hear about people
- 3:54running out of money going and I read that seventy percent of lottery winners go
- 4:00bankrupt within three years, because you just seventy percent probably don't even know how
- 4:03to manage that. I wouldn't. I mean, I think of how I
- 4:06spend money, just like, oh yeah, add the cart spend now you
- 4:10have no concept of it whatsoever. And it's big purchases, well right,
- 4:15and you'd just be like, you can give and give and give and give.
- 4:16And you know, I was reading about back in two thousand and two
- 4:17that do that one, a three hundred and fourteen million dollar powerball, which
- 4:21at that time was the biggest ever name was Jack literally ran out of money
- 4:26in three years, basically not doing much other than just giving it away.
- 4:30They said that he just loved to, you know, donate it to churches.
- 4:33He'd go to a diner and the waitress would just get a million dollar
- 4:36tip. Did he just kind of forget that it was going to run out
- 4:40or just didn't care, just didn't care. Also, they didn't note that
- 4:43he did frequent the local strip club, so I'm guessing he had a few
- 4:47dance a dance or two. But do you think who do you think of
- 4:50the two of us, who do you think would run out of money more
- 4:53likely or sooner? Honestly, three years ago I would have said you,
- 4:57hands down, you've become like this weird money guy. I know you always
- 5:02said you are always really good about saving and everything like that. I think
- 5:05you had to borrow me money one time. So that's why there's also like
- 5:09the daycare expect. Right now, I just feel like my bank accounts being
- 5:12siphoned, Like where's it? Guard? Did that go? What's happening right
- 5:15now now? I think as long as you buy. I was talking my
- 5:18buddy yesterday we were at the we were bellied up at Applebee's, which is
- 5:21just a normal thing to do, and we were talking about just buying real
- 5:25estate, just buying like where's the first property you would buy? Like,
- 5:28because obviously, you know, sure you want to keep your house here,
- 5:30you're like place whatever, But it'd be nice to buy somewhere, you know,
- 5:31somewhere else where would you buy a place? I would probably go in
- 5:35aysalesic An Island, but that would be awesome to find somewhere that you frequent
- 5:40I haven't been on an island vacation in years. I used to love Punta
- 5:43Khana in the Dominican Republic. I don't know if there's no you could buy
- 5:46a billion spot there that I'd sure, or you know, you're a Tolorado
- 5:50girl, you could buy a place up in the mountain. I would probably
- 5:53get a mountain place. I mean, as long as you're buying real estate
- 5:56though, like you're not gonna lose. You know, you always have like
- 5:58that property if you're buying it out right, you know. See this is
- 6:00what I'm saying. Listen to you. Look at you. You are and
- 6:01trying, but I realistic it a couple of weeks and I'm like, he's
- 6:04just still currently living in my sister's basement. But soon in the morning,
- 6:12seven, should we try to get somebody out of the friend zone. It's
- 6:14worth a shot. I mean, it's worth a shot, all right.
- 6:19The name as Gavin and he's on the phone right now. Good morning,
- 6:23Gavin. Hey are you doing what's happening? Oh? You know, just
- 6:27doing a little morning radio show here. How about you. I'm hanging in
- 6:30there. It's it's it's a good morning. You know, every morning you
- 6:33wake up a good morning. I get it. Well, it would be
- 6:35better Gavin if we can get you out of the friend zone this morning.
- 6:39It sounds like you got a girl. Things that meant maybe cooling off a
- 6:42little bit. So tell us what's going on with I think her name was
- 6:44Jenny. Yeah. We met it on one of those dating sites, you
- 6:47know, and I've heard of him. You had a couple of times,
- 6:50you know, and I thought the dates went well. Um and Puss.
- 6:55We were always texting, and I was really excited about it. I thought
- 6:59it was going in the right direction. And next thing, you know,
- 7:02well, some's the text with you and far between, and I started to
- 7:06get the feeling like, oh, you know, I know, I finally
- 7:11you know, I texted her saying, hey, you know, I really
- 7:14like to move this relationship in a in a different way, and she texted
- 7:18me back, oh my god, that's so sweet. That's great, and
- 7:20she seemed happy about that. But then after that the texts were like okay,
- 7:26thanks, oh yeah, just like one word text message azz right,
- 7:31I mean, and I'd better text with my carpet cleaning service, you know
- 7:34what I mean. So I don't know this one feels salvageable. To me.
- 7:40We'll see Gavin. I'm sure she's just been busy. So here's what
- 7:42we're gonna do. You got her number, You've emailed it to us,
- 7:45Thank you for that. We're gonna call Jenny, gonna get her point of
- 7:46view, see how she's kind of feeling about things. If she's willing where
- 7:49how do you stay quiet in the background. But then we'll bring you on
- 7:51at the end. Okay, okay, all right, dude. I hope
- 7:55we can do this for you. I really do. Oh gosh. Hello,
- 8:03Hi is this Jenny. Yes, this is hey Jenny. Sorry to
- 8:07bother you, but my name is Pike and this is Amanda. Hello girl,
- 8:11how's it going? Hi? Hi, We are from Pike in Amanda
- 8:15in the morning. If you did not know, oh my god, would
- 8:16you be willing to have a little chat with us? Um? Sure?
- 8:22What? Well, it is a little personal. We first of all want
- 8:26to know are you a single? Oh I'm very single? Yeah, just
- 8:31like the most single. Love it. That's great. That really makes this
- 8:33next part easier. So, Jenny, we had been talking to somebody who
- 8:39says that they've got a little thing for you. Oh my gosh. Okay,
- 8:45anybody come to mind, are yet chatting with anybody? I mean,
- 8:52yeah, I think there's one person, but maybe just one. Does he
- 8:56seem like the kind of guy that would call a morning radio show to see
- 9:00if he can get himself out of the friend zone. I don't know.
- 9:03I've never had a call like this before. All Right, Well, what's
- 9:07his name? We'll tell you? Oh my god, Oh, I don't
- 9:11know if I should say this over the radio. Jenny, you're with friends.
- 9:16I just hope it's the same guy that's really really what we're rooting here
- 9:20for. His name is Gavin? Is that is that the right person?
- 9:24Well? Tell us a little bit about Gavin. I mean, what are
- 9:26your thoughts? Um, He's a great guy, but you know, things
- 9:31have faded. I don't know if the chemistry is quite right, and I
- 9:35think we're just fter as friends. But did I guess right? So you're
- 9:39putting Gavin? I mean hear me out directly in the friend zone. Yeah,
- 9:43Honestly, we're going in different directions, and like I you know,
- 9:48I was honest with him, and you know, I'm focused on my career
- 9:50and we're headed and I just don't know if we're on the right path.
- 9:54Okay, to clarify, you did share that with Gavin, so he knows.
- 9:58Yeah, do not feel bad, but like, I don't know,
- 10:01I did. I did explain that. I just said I think we're better
- 10:05as friends, you know. Okay? All right, Well this is kind
- 10:07of awkward. Let's make it even more awkward because Jenny Gavin has been actually
- 10:11on the phone this entire time, So say say hello to Hi. Hey,
- 10:16how are you doing Jenny? What's happening? Hey, Gavin? Do
- 10:22you guys? I know, I know this is awkward, Jenny, but
- 10:26I figured, you know, at least we could maybe have fun while we're
- 10:30trying to figure out the friends though. Oh gosh, Gavin, Gavin,
- 10:35get no, Gavin, listen, Bud. You gotta do it. You
- 10:37gotta pull out all the stops. You obviously have a crush on Jenny.
- 10:41You like her, Jenny, it sounds like you maybe weren't feeling that way.
- 10:43But does this sort of I don't want to say desperate attempt, but
- 10:46does this last minute effort do anything for you change your mind at all?
- 10:52I'm sorry, but no, I feel bad, but I yeah, I
- 10:58think again, did you agree? I just think we're better as friends?
- 11:03All right? I like that you tried. I mean, you kind you
- 11:09know you gotta you gotta throw your hat in the ring. You know,
- 11:11you gotta you gotta strike out like a pro. That's right, dude,
- 11:15go back to solid advice. Go down, swing it, and hey,
- 11:18look at the bright side. You got a new friend out of the deal.
- 11:22Maybe she'll maybe she'll shut me up. But one of her friends wheeling
- 11:28and dealing. I see next up in the order. Let's go, so
- 11:31don't it that way in the morning. Now it is time for a hometown
- 11:39throw down. It's where you get to represent the city, live in your
- 11:43hood, and a chance. It's some really cool tickets, Like we got
- 11:46some good stuff today. Yeah, vi IP horse racing tickets for that's coming
- 11:50up. You're saying VIP Horse. Yeah, it's still a big deal.
- 11:54That's coming up on Sunday. We've got ever clear ludicrous tea pain Jeff Dunham.
- 11:58All right, so let's say hello to our contestants this morning on Hometown
- 12:01Throwdown. First up, she reigns from the city of South Fargo. Her
- 12:03name is Nicole. Good morning, Nicole, good morning, good morning.
- 12:07Not that South Fargo is a city actually, but what do you like living
- 12:09there. Oh you know, I am right off a thirty second. So
- 12:13we have all that wonderful construction right now, but in the winter she loves
- 12:18it. It's just the summer construction that gets her. Yeah. Well,
- 12:22we had a little further east for our next contestant. Good morning, Sam,
- 12:26Good morning, And where are you from? Sam? I'm originally from
- 12:31Twin Valley, Minnesota's I love it. I like when you're going to the
- 12:33og, like, this is where I'm representing. I'm from Glendon, So
- 12:37I kind of get it. I feel like we got a good vibe.
- 12:39All right, Sam, So you're competing. What's in Twin Valley? By
- 12:41the way, you got a bar there? How many bars you got?
- 12:43Yeah, so there's a bar and there is a bowling alley. We never
- 12:50had that. Holy cow? All right, girls, So here's the deal.
- 12:52Five questions, best of five is going to be victorious and hometown throwdown.
- 12:56I'll ask the question. You yell out where you're representing, So either
- 12:58sound Fargo, Twin Valley. That's your way to buzz in. You answer
- 13:03correctly, you get the point. Best of five? Are we good?
- 13:05Hometown thrown out? How many oceans does Earth have? Twin Valley. All
- 13:13right, go ahead, Twin Valley. Um two for the steel. How
- 13:22many oceans does the Earth have? Nicole, I'm gonna go five? Wow?
- 13:31Nice, nice, nice job, good job. All right, one
- 13:33nothing, South Fargo. How many legs does a spider have? Twin Valley?
- 13:39Go ahead? Eight? Eight? Die, that's a lot of legs.
- 13:43All right, ladies. What day of the month is it today?
- 13:50Go ahead? You knew it. That's a tough one. That's maybe the
- 13:54toughest question in the history. All right, So that's a two to one
- 13:56lead for Twin Valley. Sam, you get this next one. You're gonna
- 13:58be the winner. Okay, here we go. Okay, I'm so nervous.
- 14:01Who wrote the book the notebook? Twin Valley for the win, Nicholas
- 14:09Spark Yeah, oh my gosh, you win, Sam representing Twin Valley.
- 14:16Congratulations and we have your choice of tickets. Thanks so much for playing a
- 14:20long ladies, hang on, all right, South Bargo. That was admirable,
- 14:24a great effort. Soolutely. Next weekend, Twin Valley will return to
- 14:28defend her title on Hometown Throwdown. I'm Big Nuty eight point seven like in
- 14:33Amanda in the Morning on Big Nutty eight point seven. Get ready, ready,
- 14:37that's he is piping hot today. No, Amanda stills the sea.
- 14:43Look see, Tiger Woods is no longer being sued for allegedly cooking up a
- 14:48little scheme to test his ex girlfriend out of his home. The whole theme
- 14:52seemed things seemed pretty ridiculous to us when we first found out about it.
- 14:56She gave a lot of details about how she was giving him valuable services in
- 15:01exchange for living rent free, and that they had an have more details on
- 15:05that. Oh, you were about to say, yeah, they had an
- 15:07oral Tennessee tendency agreement, and that just meant that even after they broke up,
- 15:13she was supposed to be able to live there for five years. In
- 15:16what world would that ever work? I mean, I get you, you
- 15:20know some people still get along with their ex but to live together, I
- 15:22mean what I think they made it about three weeks, but she did drop
- 15:26that thirty million dollar lawsuit, and I think we can all agree that's probably
- 15:30a good idea. Yeah, But then again, she could because his house
- 15:31is so big. I mean, he's got a golf course on his house,
- 15:35Like she could live on the third hole and you would never see her.
- 15:37You never see her once. Yeah, but then Tiger, I mean,
- 15:39we know what he likes to do in his extracurricular time. Oh he's
- 15:43abody else's rolling him up. But it's like, oh yeah, don't mind
- 15:46Erica over in penthouse number four. I was in awe last night. I
- 15:52saw this. I'm like, what noveda authorities served a search more it this
- 15:56week and connect him with Tupac's murder. Huh. Yeah. Nearly thirty years
- 16:03later, the Vegas Police said that the warrant was executed. They aren't giving
- 16:06any other details. And in case you forgot or maybe you weren't alive,
- 16:10this is what went down back in nineteen ninety six. There was a drive
- 16:12by shooting happened September seventh, nineteen ninety six. He was put on life
- 16:17support. He remained in ICU until September thirteenth. He ultimately died from internal
- 16:21bleeding. He was twenty five years old. Crazy. No arrest were ever
- 16:25made, and the police did say that basically it was stalled because there was
- 16:29zero witnesses that would cooperate. Yeah, nobody would really talk, and I
- 16:32think everybody was scared for their life. Yeah, people know, obviously there
- 16:34are people who know, and there's a lot of theories out there, whether
- 16:37like Suge Night was involved, or you know, it's a gang thing or
- 16:41what. But I'm just so interested that what prompted that police out whoever at
- 16:45the Vegas Police Mpartment to just be like, you know what, I got
- 16:47nothing going on today. They just see what happened Johnson, show me that
- 16:51Tupoc file I can do, And which one is gonna be bigger? Barbie
- 16:56or Oppenheimer Over the weekend there, I guess Vegas odds are going out.
- 17:02People are just trying to see which one is going to be making records.
- 17:04I would have thought for sure Openheimer, but Barbie, Oppenheimpenheim we talked about.
- 17:08I'm sorry, I told you it's pronounced I am. I just heard
- 17:11somebody say it. I'm like, oh, I've been seeing it wrong.
- 17:14But Barbie is supposed to make one hundred million dollars, the other one forty
- 17:18five million dollars. The other one looks really good. Oppenheimer, you know
- 17:19it's got Matt Damis God whoever the leave guy is. I knew he's one
- 17:22of those guys where I knew his face. I just couldn't figure out what
- 17:26i'd seen him in. But anyway, apparently he lost a ton of weight
- 17:29to be in that role. Really. Yeah, yeah, one of those
- 17:30crazy actor diets. I think I'd rather see that one in the theater,
- 17:33don't you, because it's like one of those ones where it's more epic.
- 17:36It feels like you should go theater. Setting asked it more dramatic? I
- 17:41mean, Barbie, don't get me wrong. Can in Barbie have this rapport
- 17:44that is gonna be wild on screen and the colors beautiful? What is it
- 17:48rated? I mean, it's gotta be. Why wouldn't that be? Would
- 17:52Barbie? I mean, how I know what I used to do with the
- 17:57Barbie the movie does Pike in Amanda in the morning point seven? All right,
- 18:06I'm so glad we get to do this because obviously we've been out doing
- 18:08the black bombs for the police officers and just showing our support for that,
- 18:11but I think it was important that we do this as well. Right absolutely,
- 18:15on the phone, right now, we have Carly Coswick, who was
- 18:18the innocent bystander who was shot last Friday during that horrible incident here in Fargo.
- 18:23Carly, we appreciate you taking our call today. How are you doing.
- 18:26Are you doing? Okay, I'm so in the hospital movie first few
- 18:30more days have a police but doing Carly. First of all, just want
- 18:34to tell you that, you know, we've been raising money, we've been
- 18:37distributing blue lights to support the police department, and a lot of people,
- 18:41us included, have just been reaching out and saying, you know, don't
- 18:45forget about Carly, don't forget about the one who was just there by chance.
- 18:48Know that we've been thinking about you. Okay, Thank you so much.
- 18:52I really appreciate that, and I appreciate that you're trying to help the
- 18:55police officers as well. I'm sure they need all the help they can get.
- 18:57And I know that a lot of people have done interviews with you,
- 19:00and we don't need to rehash the incident. We understand that there's just been
- 19:04a lot of trauma involved and you're just trying to recover. But what we
- 19:07wanted to do was just take a moment to tell you that not only are
- 19:11we thinking about you, but we really do want to support you, and
- 19:14we are so thankful that Big ninety eight point seven has this opportunity. Our
- 19:18community is amazing and they make donations to the Big ninety eight point seven Christmas
- 19:22Wish program all year long and we on behalf of Heartland Chevy Dealers and Gateway
- 19:26Chevrolet want to give you a check for one thousand dollars. Wow, thank
- 19:33you so much. That will really help. Absolutely. I can't imagine moving
- 19:37to a new community in general and then everything that you've already been through.
- 19:41But I just hope you know that Fargo Moorehead is an amazing community and we
- 19:45are going to welcome you with open arms and take care of you. And
- 19:48I'm sure it's so hard not having your parents here right now going through everything
- 19:52you are. Yeah, thankfully my dad has been able to come out and
- 19:55husband visiting me in a hospital a lot, but hard being into community.
- 20:00Yeah, everyone's been very welcoming though. Do you know will you be able
- 20:04to get out of the hospital soon or our things looking it's looking like all
- 20:08the leaving the hospital and going to a rehab facility within the last couple of
- 20:12days before. Oh, just trying to do how to walk again and everything.
