- 0:58[SPEAKER_04]: Was it Florida?
- 0:59[SPEAKER_04]: Is it Mastic Woods?
- 1:00[SPEAKER_04]: Nobody seems to know So it's just always just the most fun time of the year like obviously we got Carlos me a great time Josh Crabs like no two better group of legends You could think of the talk about ball width, so
- 1:10[SPEAKER_03]: All right, let's get into it with one Cleveland legend Cleveland Guardians Hall of Famer Carlos Bayer Good joins the show Carlos.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_03]: Good morning.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_03]: How are you before you dive in anything baseball?
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: Good morning.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: Good morning.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: What are honours to be with you guys today?
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, you know, to be with you.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: I got to be with you.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: And you guys are awesome.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: And we're ready.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: We're ready to rumble.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_03]: Well we appreciate you popping on the program Carlos of course got to start with this Cleveland Guardians back tied for the lead in the AL Central got a crucial win to avoid that sweep and Minnesota Carlos just how are you feeling over arching theme of this team you still feel like they're in a great place to be contenders and win the AL Central for a third year in a row.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I still believe that we're going to do it.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: That we're going to do it because when you have a starting pitching stuff, the one we have, you still have a opportunity to do it.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: We are free in the American League in ERA.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: We are seven in Major League Baseball.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: And our guys kick, you know, keep coming back and doing the job.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: We have the only thing still in Major League Baseball, they have all the five starters.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: no teeny baseball, how all the fights started, you know, together sees the first day of the season.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: So when you have that, you know that you have a great opportunity, but you have to have because of the way you use them too.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: So you have to, you know, realize that we can take them
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: to be too much at the beginning because in the last part, they might get tired.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: I hope not.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: I hope that we keep going the whole way, but I like what we have right here.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: I know we miss it Jose, but then Scott that the louder it's been coming unbearable.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: In the last 15 days it's been kind of crazy, 15 out of 16.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's been hitting there and he's doing a big job for a 367,
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: that give for off in there, you know, in the last week, you know, bringing that offense to help our other team.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_04]: So Carlos, one thing that chased a lawyer, it's kind of interesting is see never got the chance to play over.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_04]: I believe it was 55 games in his first few years in the miners with Cleveland.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_04]: How much do you think that little break helped him out when he went to the I.L.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_04]: where he could kind of get his bat back behind him a little bit, get a couple of days off?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: a lot, a lot because I'm, every time that he's like, every time he's, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, the wall.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: Every time he cash your body in right field, I'm gonna lie, me a rafa, we go like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: because we know why he went through in the minor leagues and I know we cannot, we gotta lose our guy.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: He's our man in there after, you know, behind Jose Ramirez, he's a really good player and I know a lot of people was question, wow, he hit five homers in the first five days of the season and then he can't stop on any people.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: It happens.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: It will, a lot of people go through, yeah, Vladimir Guerrero is going through that.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: And for not not that easy going through that too, so, you know, but the good thing is the Ari today, he worked hard every day and he's helping back again to help our both up.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Carlos, he's been huge.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, there's been some growing paints for this young team as well.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: Another picture that you mentioned do that's gone through some growing paints, Gavin Williams.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yesterday, he would look unbelievable.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: Basically, five perfect endings.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: I was looking on Fandel yesterday, if he had no hit or odds, perfect game odds, that sort of thing.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: So when that guy is on, he is on.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_02]: You talk about this rotation being the, you know, five out of five.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: There hasn't been a miss start in the bunch.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: Gavin Williams, though, getting back on the bump yesterday with a huge 11 strike out performance.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: What'd you think of him yesterday?
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: I love him.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: I love Gabby William.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be supporting.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I know Gabby, Gabby, she is the number one fan of Gabby Williams.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I like in this guy going to be holster.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: This guy, you know, he started his season like a holster.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I know he went through in June at the beginning.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of talked a role, you know, for him, but I believe he's going to be holster.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: And he's going to be, I think, one year, he's going to win this
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to say right now here.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: He got the stuff.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: He got the adito, the work habits.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: And he's very serious.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: He's very serious in why he do.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: I love kind of players that I hear remind me.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: He don't talk to anybody.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you guys go to the ballpark, you know, early.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: He remind me, Cody Grover.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: Cody Grover, he don't speak too much.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: He just drove up and pitched and, you know, go after the job and I hit the man with that kind of player like that.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: So I think I think having will is going to be really good, but he and message, you know, right now are the two horses for a team.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: I know can't he just been pitching unbelievable.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, he's been amazing.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: The other day he got to eat on their runs because the era that you know, it happened to him.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: But he's been, you know, the guy that he's dropping like it, we loosely straight, right away, he come back and win for us, so he's been special for us.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_03]: Cross speaking of a guy who went his on he's on and unfortunately for Guardians fans it seems like he's been more off than on at least not as of late.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_03]: I should say he's been a little bit more on and that's Gabriel Arias Carlos when he's on he looks like he is a perennial all-star player he has all the tools you can imagine mash in a couple crucial home runs one against the white socks and one against the twins and that bare hand play he made it third base not many third baseman are making it what do you make out of Gabriel Arias in the up and down season he's had so far
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: I won't have real areas to believe in himself.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes he puts things, you know, I think it's mentally.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: You know, what he goes through, you know, like, you know, I don't know if he's afraid, if he don't do good, he gonna be in the bench.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: If I don't get it, but he said, you know, don't put pressure, you and the building are ready.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: You have the talent, when you have the talent, the best aren't in the infield in the, in the majorly baseball.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: He have the best hands.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: He got everything, the power.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: He might have the best power in our team in our organization.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: He can go to right field like money, Ramita used to go, send a field like it.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: He got that, and I had to say it to him when I go back to Cleveland.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: I got to say to him, I say, my brother, everything is right here.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: Believe in yourself, have fun, because that's another thing.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: You see the body language when it strike out the first time, right away, change.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I need to talk to him about that.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I say, hey, you are manually based on player.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: You are a great player, and you are a big part right now, because Jose Ramirez, no dare.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: Do they only want to have this privilege in that club?
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: So everybody is putting their eyes on you.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to put pressure on you, but you don't want to have fun.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: Keep going.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: Next, what bad is going to be a big one for you?
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have the guys on base.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the kind of mentality he has to have to help our bulk club in there.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: But I still believe in him.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: I believe in him.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: And right now, what gonna happen when Jose Ramirez comes back, Jose is going to be the art of the raceman.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: Rokyo's gonna be a short stop and Masana's gonna be a circumference one.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: So he need to prepare in fur base.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: He need to prepare now in the outfair tool because he's gonna be a utility guide for all the stuff that I saw.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: He need to prepare for that and be ready when come from the bench, you know, to hit and help us out.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_04]: Carlos Sting in the infield one guy who is kind of near and dear to you second basement Travis Bazana guy who's trying to live up to your legacy and Cleveland at second base gets the all star appearance but one thing that's been a little bit rough for him so far we've noticed in Cleveland is the fielding do you think that Travis will be able to stick at second base long-term or do you think that he'll move to the outfield one day.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think he can say, I think he can say he has the body, the energy, and I think the world-happy day he has is unbelievable.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: I love that he's ready every day.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: He's taking our board early every day.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: Stop right there.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I just do the day I said to me, hey,
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: Easy.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: Second baby is the closest to four-base.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Don't try to hurry up, but when he tried to hurry up, that's what he threw the ball away.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's the way it was.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: And as you need to know, and I know that he used to have two months in the village.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I know that he don't know the runners, who's the fast runner, who's the slow runner.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the things as a utility player.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: I said, as a second-base man, as an infielder, that you need to know.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: I remember when Omar Biscay came to
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: Let's have a war habit together.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: Let's think about I'm going to let you know who's a fast runner who's a slow runner When you have time when you have to play a little bit from and when you can get back and weigh a little bit more those are the little things They're gonna get you making an arrow or not making an arrow So those are the little things that you're gonna be okay.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: It happened
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: to me my first couple years I make a lot of arrows and then I went counting down because I'm you know I started learning the league and I started learning you know the ability that I have and another thing that I used to have I was really good for this side.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: But my, you need to know, why is you telling?
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: If you have a problem catching this way, I need to play a little bit more of this way.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: So those are the little three that you need to know as an infielder.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I know he gonna be okay.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: I love why he have hip-hop power.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's doing a great job for us in hitting first.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: Stop play that.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I know he gonna cut down this right out too.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: It gonna happen.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: This is first year, my friend.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: I ain't doing a great job for us.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Carlos, it's kind of unbelievable how many rookies have come up to the major league level already for our Cleveland Guardians right now to if you were one of those, you know, veterans in the clubhouse right now, the Reese Hoskins type, I mean, the only other veteran you really have, there's Austin Hedges, Steven Kwon, those sort of guys, what would you be saying to guys like, who wringle when they go back down to AAA and then P.D.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: Helping comes back up.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: There's guys that have struggled, Khalil Watson struggled in the first few at bats up at the major league level.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: What's the message to those guys when they're struggling and they don't want to overpress in the batters box?
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: Makes them defensive, you know, mistakes like Cooper angle.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: What's the message to them as a veteran?
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Go down and work hard.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: Go down and work hard.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: You know, don't go down and put your head down like, oh, man, I deserve to be in the middle of it.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I mess it up.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, no, go down with a good attitude.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's the first thing right there.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: Show everybody that you belong there that I know you may show me stage and you're gonna work hard.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, I'm gonna cut the coast right away.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: And today, today, if I hear,
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: Let's work in the outfit.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's my opening to be in the village.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: If I need to work hard every day, let's do it.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's the kind of mentality that he has to have.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: Because he can't, he can't, he's show any of the minor links, he's show any three players over there.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: So he just need to improve a little bit.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I know, and I know, the he just before he got caught up.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: In your spend to which in the mind only playing out for you.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's not easy, bro Especially when you're over there you have a ball paris 7,000 people or 8,000 people He is 40,000 people in the game the ball paris is bigger too So it's a different lining is a different atmosphere So you need to prepare for that But I think you know what what Stephen bug day.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: The other day I thought that we were gonna get sent down the day
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: after he meets a ball over there.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: But you know what, is there about this something that teach me something as a manager?
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: He wanted, he wanted this guy, not to go down like embarrassed, not to go down like a, wow, I lay down the team.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: He wanted, he wanted to know, hey, we all made mistakes.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: And something that I like, everybody, even by the, you remember by the, they went down on that, and then he went for him in the dog out and say,
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: I can't you.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna come back.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna get a big big big sister.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the kind of attitude I said to him that we knew.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: We used to have you remember what happened with Shea's a lot of a Jack.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: You remember the first day in the Olympics?
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the center field.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: You made the era what happened.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: Boom.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: And then he helped us out.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: So those are the little things we learned from.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: We are blessed to be where we are.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: Not too many.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: They have five rookies in the
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, this is the billies.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: But we are blessed that our organization that we have people that, you know, they're getting these guys ready to make it believe.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they're gonna make it move or not.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: I would like to, I would like to have a big bot coming up.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when Jose Ramirez come back on the lead, you like it, maybe on the first or last.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: To have a right hand that bot we're hitting there, to helping out.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: It would be awesome to have that.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: But you know what?
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: The furlough of his other wanted to prepare everything and I hope that we get something like that for our team.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_03]: Carlos, who do you view right now as the Guardian's biggest threat to take over the AL Central?
- 13:41[SPEAKER_03]: Is it the white socks?
- 13:42[SPEAKER_03]: Is it the twins or are you still keeping your eye on the Detroit Tigers?
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: My friend, we, we have a royal out of here.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: I say that these years, we kind of crazy.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you guys really are, yeah.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: Because they play really good without Murakami.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: Murakami's going back playing.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: Again, to, you know, to play with them.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: And that team, he showed us,
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: they can play, they can't hit homers, they can turn around again, you know, easy.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: The Minnesota Twins, who spent the minute?
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: They trade 12 guys in last year in the deadline.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: And they release couple guys in the offices on Sunday, are right there behind us playing really good baseball.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the team that I respect the most because the hardest part is the Detroit Tigers.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: We have to, you know, I know, when they come back here to play against, so they know that we play really good at it.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: We know, they know that.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: But that's a team that you don't want that because you know what, they have three weapons.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: They have to go out, they have badness and now it's pushing back like badness again and they have minds and they have frugity.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_00]: So they got spirits.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: They got play your spirits and one series of frugity there.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the thing that you have to put the eyes on them and forget about, you know, the other things because the other thing that they're going to go down.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: in the last part, you're going to happen to the white shop because they don't have the spirits and they're going to go through a tough time like everything in the village are been going this year.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_04]: So Carlos Rees Hoskins is at a point in his career now where he maybe isn't playing every single day or hitting 25 homers out of the ballpark every single year like he used to hadn't right.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if you guys know this.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_04]: When Carlos was 34 and played for the Arizona Diamond back when he wasn't in every day starting role anymore, but when he was with the Diamondbacks at 34, he had 3 40 that
- 15:43[SPEAKER_04]: 40 Carlos, what's your advice for a guy like Reese Hoskins who's maybe at a similar point in his career where he's not starting every single day to go out and still be a productive bat for your ball club.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know what, first of all, I'm unhappy that he's here with us.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_00]: You know why?
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: Because they got these guy got a lot of experience with them with other family who wasn't the playoff every year.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: We made a sort of with them.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: We walking brovers.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: They're always in the playoff in the last five years.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: So he had that experience and I know I watch.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: I go to the clubhouse.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I watch what he's doing and he's talking to a lot of young players, they follow him, he prepare himself, maybe the average, don't show it in there.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: But he has 31 or B.I.s.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: He has 31 or B.I.s.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: We are team.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: He's been close, you know, when we need it, you know, to hitting the home or how many homeers he have, he got eight, nine homes.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: Nine homers coming from the bench, that's, that's, that's the pressure.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: No playing every day, playing and left the, you know, and it's hard, bro.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is the building is our, but you know what, I think he's a great addition to our club.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: He just need to keep going because this is the building, bro.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the people don't understand.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I say we need one more bat in here because when we get to the play of,
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know we we have our rookie guys they have talents of right now, but in the play it's a different animal that we play So you have to go to the war.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: We are little bit of spirits, and that's why I'm saying we need somebody like that to help us out You know in the last room in the last part, you know, it's a pleasure.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: Jack don't forget about that year.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: I have the record in the village 22 pinship
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, I need to.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: Wow, I'm going to hurt the wild.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: That year, I bring the record, you know, the 22% that year.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_00]: It was a three million dollars.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: That year was, and I was playing the last two months.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: We have a broken collarbone.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we have a broken collarbone that I heard you after the year was over on that year, man.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_04]: He just said, I started after the game.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: I started, they put a team in there for me to play every day.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: It was unbelievable, but you know what I was saying?
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: A big year, but you know, that's why I always say, you know, being coming from the bench, you need to prepare yourself.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's a different situation.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: You need to know, especially when it's cold, oh my god, you need to run bicycle, you need to run, you need to swing every two inins.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to make my techniques because you don't know when the money you're going to use you.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: So you need to be prepared for everything.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_02]: absolutely Carlos is a dog here in Cleveland.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: We got some other dogs here going to the All-Star game for us here in Cleveland.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: Kate Smith, Travis Pazana, Parker Massick, is there one that jumps out to you the most?
- 18:24[SPEAKER_02]: Because to me, Kate Smith is exactly who we are hoping he would be.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_02]: He had a couple of struggles early on in the early part of the season.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: Pazana, maybe that's kind of more of a statement on the strength of second base Carlos.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: But Parker Massick is working the year up there in the Fandel sportsbook odds as well.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_02]: But never a doubt in my mind that he'd be in All-Star.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's being unbelievable, he keeps us in the game, even he losing the last few games.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: There's called your two or three rooms, that's all.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: He keeps us, they call it a quality start, in the village, you know, where he got that, you know, he don't look to me like a rookie.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: He looked to me like a better one, he looked to me like a player, the way he used the uniform to me.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: He looked like an all time,
- 19:08[SPEAKER_00]: afraid like that kind of you know picture this guy it is and everybody talk about him he get the ball he pitch right away and that's something that is hard to pitch because sometimes they you know in the afternoon for him in the the pitch again can't tell you stuff like that and he's still keep going you know and we are blessed to have a picture like that since August
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: to hear the numbers they're being unbelievable, you know, they're like, he and can teach you.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: I know that everybody's talking about, you know, they're going to win them, win back to back 10 games.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: But these two guys, they've been,
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: a two-another level to a, you know, a, a, a, a rotation and they, it's been really go two-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: And we have to say, we are blessed to have hedges behind home play.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, it is amazing, you know what?
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know who's living the league?
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: He he he.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: Huston had to.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, he is somehow.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's I guess.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_00]: I can stall a lot.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: I let me be on baseball center.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: Let me see that on baseball center.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: He 348 He's been amazing even even they had to prepare to maintain our B.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: She's together.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, he's been good.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand him.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_00]: He's another day that I have to mention it here
- 20:54[SPEAKER_00]: He did something to judge.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: If I love him before, now I love him more.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's either right there.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: He's great.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: Talk about Austin Hedges Carlos.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't want people to think because we are young.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: You can do whatever you want to our team.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_00]: No, you have to have somebody to step up and say, hey, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, don't play like that with us.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's the kind of attitude you have to have.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: Winning attitude, championship attitude, you have to have people like that in your team.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely Carlos, he's been critical for us to one thing that's kind of interesting to me to talk about he just opened his stance a little bit Austin had just did he moved his leg open up to the left a little bit something like that can completely change your swing Carlos Do you ever see did you ever have something like that in your career where you made a small adjustment at the plate that completely opened up your swing that completely changed the course of your season
- 21:42[SPEAKER_00]: My friend, my friend, I never had this instant.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: I changed during the year because you get tired, you get slowing the hands.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe the legs, maybe you are hurt, maybe the hands sweep.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_00]: So you have to make a judgment.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the little things that you make as a heater.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I hate when somebody says to me, this is the way I hit all the time.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_00]: No!
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes when you don't feel good, you have to move back a little bit because that pitch in you inside.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: The game and everything in life is making a judgment.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: Just don't know.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: And Josman, you're going to be okay.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: But if you say, no, I always hit here.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, be the rose.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: Delivery hit immediately, baseball history.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: He took the other day, the other day, no, like, four years ago.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_00]: I, I, I, I, I, he's talking about making a judgment.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: When somebody throw how he is back, when somebody's so soft, he won't forward.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: When somebody pisses, I, he'll move back.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: When somebody like to throw outside, he can close it to the plate.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: You have to make a judgment.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_00]: You need to know the pitcher first, and be ready to make a judgment for yourself.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: Don't be the hitting the same way.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_00]: I keep hitting the same ground board to their base for second base.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: No, I need to do something.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: If I need to show up too, to make contact, we may not enter a minute or second base, I need to do it.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: I need to do it those are the little things that we we've been going through the last few days striking out a lot with men and third base and second base living guys on basis stuff like that so we need to cut that to my thing ourselves we need to play our board us that's okay.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: One, the other day was crazy.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: We split, we walk you and we got to for a base because the people know realize and still forget about the worst athlete in the game are the pictures.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I say, they get pissed off on me.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: I, you know good.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: I say, you know good.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: You're a good, that's why I asked me before he got to essay.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: How do you get 200 hate, I used to get 12 or 13 months for basic?
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: If they give it to me, that's the best advice that I got from Paul Moritoch.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's my life saver.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's my life's everywhere because when I'm struggling, offer 10, offer 50, offer 14.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: You get a basic, you get a sighted, you face change, you get happy and you keep going.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: The next about the stuff like that should also the lyrics, they can change the game.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_00]: I can change you, add it to, to get you average up again, back again.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: You don't do that too sometimes.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: Hitches.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: He helped the team, just some time you had to play for the team, and I think you had to play for the team the whole time.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: I used to eat dirt and I'd better be behind me.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: When I don't feel good hearing, what I do, I move it over.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: I gotta be behind me, he gonna bring it in.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: When you have that kind of talent, when you have to play a mentality to play for the team, we're gonna win a setting, and that's the best thing.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_00]: That no matter what, if you hit a homework, yes, that's good for you.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: But do we win the game?
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: No, so I don't dare anything.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: I love the players and I mooky bet talk like that.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I got two homers, but we lost the game.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_00]: No matter.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's the kind of yaddy do you have to have as a player?
- 25:09[SPEAKER_03]: Carlos, there are not many people that even get selected a one all star game.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_03]: Carlos, you are a three-time all star.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_03]: What did that mean to you being an all star and was there one selection that stood out the most to you?
- 25:22[SPEAKER_03]: That means the most to you.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the first one, it had to be really good.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_00]: It had to be the best one because when I got pink, I was in Texas and I remember that you know, I don't think me to be a star.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_00]: There's been me to be a group of the 30 players.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I call my father and I bring him my father to Leostra again.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: That was the best game because he was the one that teach me, you know, to play this game.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I always
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: all the soccer prize that he did for me, you know, all the practice, everything that he did for me, I never don't forget about, and to getting to the clubhouse, listen to this, getting to the clubhouse, and I watch Royal Clemen, Waybox, and Joe Carter, watch all these guys in there, and I say, wow,
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: that I'm dreaming.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: I went like this, I don't like it.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: I went like this, that I'm dreaming or this is real life.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's what you realize.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: You've picked up the Ostra player, but the best Ostra game was in 95.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: 95, three, four, three, RBI.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: I was gonna be there, we was really in the game, two, one.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to be in the aiming that got me on the side.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I started getting to start that game.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_00]: I got three, four, three, and they were going to give me the MVP.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_00]: But that's when they naturally tied the game.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: And then I told my senior Homer to win the game.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: And they gave it to him because the Homer, to win.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: But I never going to forget about that.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm my wife.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: She was going to have a baby.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: She has seven months.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: It was so hot in Texas.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_00]: One, all night one, all night and there was no, no, no, I'd say, ah, yeah, the old ballpark.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: There's no covering over there, dude.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_00]: In that one, not one, no.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_00]: So it's something that I never better forget about.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_04]: So Carlos, the smart choice baths question of the weekend is if you could add yourself or one of your 1995 teammates to this year's 26 Cleveland Guardians team to make them a world series contender who would the smart choice be?
- 27:22[SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_00]: How do we be between money, Ramirez, or Albert Bell?
- 27:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I had to say, man, Albert Bell, when he played with us, he was amazing.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, you know, people realize the numbers or Albert Bell, he was the best, close man that we have in those things.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_00]: He's a heart of favor.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: He said, hello, famer, there's nobody in 10 years that put the numbers that he put up.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think Albert Ben was a guy to everybody.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: No, they don't want to be sure he was carrying him.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think he was me.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: that's it, that's it, that's it, that's it, it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it
- 28:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, oh, man.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_00]: But we got rockio doing that job too.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's doing a great job in there.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: We got money from it.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's a thing, you know, the loudest can be gone.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: He nobody that money from it is because that was another close guy.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't tell me that power.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_00]: That was really good.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: But you know what Albert Bell, the guy that was consistent every day, he didn't be behind.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: Jose Ramirez.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, it would be really good in the last room.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_03]: Carlos we appreciate you coming on all the great insight fun to go down memory lane with you uh look forward to you being on the show next week until then Carlos enjoy it.

- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: Glad to be hey, guys.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: We'll get to the sports.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: Josh, have you recovered from usher in Chris Brown?
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: I have not.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: I feel taking these naps all throughout the day.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: Look, for the ladies, I'm sure it was awesome, right?
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: It was awesome.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: But for me, being in that stadium playing in the stadium and everything, I was like, man, how long does this?
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: It was longer than the football game.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: Door's open at seven.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_01]: And in any, you know, it didn't get there right away.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: You can't get there right away.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't get there right away.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, really?
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I got there about eight o'clock.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: And we left at 12.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: Put it up, put it up.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: It was packed, 60,000.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was like a football game.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_03]: Who was that a bigger concert for in terms of fandom, you and Maria?
- 31:00[SPEAKER_03]: Maria?
- 31:00[SPEAKER_03]: Maria?
- 31:01[SPEAKER_03]: Maria?
- 31:01[SPEAKER_03]: Maria?
- 31:02[SPEAKER_03]: The chief of a blast?
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: She definitely had a blast.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: It was definitely me tagging along.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you do it.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you do it.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you do it.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you do it.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you do it.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_04]: That's how you do it.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you do it.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you do it.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you do it.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you do it.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you do it.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you do it.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: And then I was, I was useless.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: I was just in the background hanging out like, okay?
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: All right, how is the long is I'll keep looking at my clock because I had to get up and coach the next day.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: I had to leave.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: I had to get up at 5.30 a.m. We didn't get home to about almost one.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: Not like you live close, man.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: I had to get up.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: I even told the kids to get athletes like, hey, I don't recommend pulling an all nighter.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: When you have to get up the next day, go to bed.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: It was a, you know, they all talked about how it was the best concert they ever been.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: And, um, it not just because of who it was, they had a performance.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: They were performing.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: They performed for everybody.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: It was a lot of dancing, a lot of skits.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: A lot, they had a, you know, strip club set up there.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you thought it was on the video until you looked in the corner.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, they have an actual pole.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they had everything they were moving them from stage to state.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: So it was a lot of, you know, they performed for the fans and I think that's good.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: Even, you know, regardless of who it is, they gave them a show.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_03]: Well, God, I'm glad to hear that.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_03]: I hope the Cleveland Browns give us a show of this year Josh training camp literally.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_03]: That's just awesome.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_03]: That was awesome by the way.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_03]: So he's a pro just around the corner Josh a couple weeks.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_03]: They get started there, Maria.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go back to your point days.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_03]: What was that process like the time off between you get or excuse me?
- 32:42[SPEAKER_03]: The what's where I'm at training camp, yeah.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_03]: But before that, they come and go.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_03]: You get that little break off before training camp.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_03]: Where is your mind during that time?
- 32:52[SPEAKER_03]: Is that change at all from your first couple of years in the league to when you became a veteran?
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: Let me tell you this.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: So from OTAs to training camp is kind of rigorous.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: you're training for training camp workouts because you work out for training camp right to get back you got to be in shape.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: You got to have a run test.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's when everyone's mine like where you're training at.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of guys would leave and try to go home and try to recoup but the main part of their mind is who am I training with?
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: When am I going to train?
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: to train.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: So you got to go, you got a train to get ready to prepare the train and you don't know one one to come back out of shape.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: So from OTAs to train, we're getting in shape.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: You're trying to figure out if I'm running three to four that four times a week am I overdoing it?
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: I used to train at the Browns facility so I used to try to stay local, especially that small gap.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone usually takes their vacations right after the season.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's when you take your vacations.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's when you usually get out of the country and try to recoup.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: But between OTAs and Training Camp, you're trying to be either local or at your home base training at your college that you went to your alma mater or on the field at some capacity three to four times a week.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_03]: You were like, I'm so ready, I'm in shape.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_03]: I did everything I need to do.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_03]: And then was there ever a moment, an off season where you came in and you were like, I'm not as conditioned as I should be.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, growing up, they, I mean, not just me, but a lot of us.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: So what the Browns did and teams do this all over, they started to make the, because you had weigh-ins.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_01]: So OTA is your giving your packet, your weigh-in, your reporting weight.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I was a bigger returner.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: I was a bigger style receiver.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: I had a reporting weight.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: I started, you know, I was getting paid good.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: So I started eating, thinking potatoes, like your food went from hot pockets as a college student to stay in potatoes.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_03]: Well, does that change happen for me?
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's a significant change.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm a bigger, I went from 192 from college.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: My last, you know, that's what I weighed in to playing at 225.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: So 1952 to 225.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: Most of that was weights and eating good, eating good protein.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: So my reporting weight was 225.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: No bigger than that.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it's the lockout.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a shamed of how big I got during the lockout.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like literally I'm a shamed.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's the most I've ever weighed in my life.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: 240 and some change.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, I couldn't pick you 240.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't pitch myself until I had a mirror across from me.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: I was getting dressed for S-piece.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: I was in LA, I had my outfit all picked, my slacks, I was getting dressed in a mirror.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I kept having to take a deep breath to close my slacks.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, I was like, and then I looked in the mirror and I noticed my gut and I noticed my face, I was like, oh my God!
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: But how often do I spell as we look in the mirror?
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying right how all then do we look in the mirror at our figure, you know me so it was a full mirror at the hotel and I'm looking at what I'm like oh my god I'm my face my I'm fat That on the scale 240 and some change
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: Had the lock-in dude.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I lock-in through.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: I dressed from that.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: I see this.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm gonna find it.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm about to be a research.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_01]: Those are times I don't want to.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: And guys will make fun of me.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: I remember Evan Moore like crazy.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: Big two, 50.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like crit big creeps over there like I I really locked in remember that was the year Coat McCoy brought all of us down to Texas.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: So we all trained his on mine.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_01]: I was going hot It just took some time to get that weight off But people saw it, you know, they were making fun of me big groups and I got that weight off in record time By training camp.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: I was mad.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_01]: I was lean.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_01]: I was ready.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: That's huge for you because the offseason 2 we've heard the top dog talk about that hand for Dixon Phil Taylor obviously like you don't want to take your foot off the gas right but like you know stuff's coming up too especially with a lot of new coaching changes Josh as well like Todd Munkin those guys they're not going to let you come in out away as well too like especially under a new regime talk about how that's like
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: absolutely.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: So, not just the coaches, but you're trying to put on a good face for these, you know, for the coaches, because you want them to understand you want to be long-term.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: Players don't necessarily want to hop from team to team.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's what veterans do towards the end of their career, which I
- 37:33[SPEAKER_04]: with.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I was in the stretch lines when I was a veteran.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm mistakenly played and was like, hey, man, this is almost time for my tour to NFL.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I was when you become a super veteran.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: And you start doing sign noddies when your contracts from team to team, which I did towards end of my career, which I shouldn't have never spoken into existence.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: I was wrong for that.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I never wanted to leave Cleveland, but when you are in front of a new coach, which we had many, you know, I always wanted to let them know, like, I'm going to be creeps.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm going to continue to try to break records every year.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do everything on special teams and everything.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a lot at two on the off and side of the ball.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, putting your best foot forward and letting them understand, like, oh my god, Creep, Z is a monster.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_01]: you know every year or whoever the athlete is oh my god he's he's great because another regime that was prior they may not have felt that way about you you know any athlete and then when you put on your good foot for that coach for monkey you know he remembers that you know he remembers your drive your effort Josh when Miles Garrett got traded
- 38:40[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like people were kind of upset, but they understood it was probably the right move for both sides.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_03]: And you bring in Jared Versu, nobody wants to put those expectations on to be Mao's Garrett, but the big talk about is, well Mao's Garrett was a phenomenal player generation, but maybe he didn't have those leadership qualities you look for.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_03]: Jared Versu might not ever be as good as Mao's Garrett, but nobody probably will ever be as good as Mao's Garrett.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_03]: But he could still be great and he has those leadership qualities.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like what's that fine line between talent only takes you so far to you need those true voices in the locker room that are leading a unit.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's a really good question because he can impact so many, right?
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: He can make it so
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: it's not all about him.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: So whereas we don't even miss Mao's Garrett because the unit is playing good with great leadership.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: They're playing as a team.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like what we want it when Mao's Garrett was here.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_01]: You know, him not having to do it all himself.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_01]: you know, other guys on that defense of front, Mason Grant, you know, all those guys playing as one unit and if the attention was on mouse and everybody else is excelling and getting sacks and the whole unit, the secondary is balling out.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: We have the talent, you know, those great, that great rookie class on defense that we had that Andrew Barry picked up, especially
- 39:56[SPEAKER_01]: They're in their second year.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: They're in the year of prove it now, like figure out that it wasn't a fluke that we all, you know, had some success.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: So I think the leadership that verse brings, you know, would allow people to understand if we're playing good as a unit.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: that was a great pick.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: If we're not playing good as a unit and he's not putting up decent numbers, then we'll think otherwise.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_01]: But until, you know, real ball starts, that's when everybody will kind of make up their mind.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: But you hit the nail on the head, you know, people understood.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we all didn't like it.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't like it.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: This is a sour taste.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_01]: I understood it, though.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: That one's that don't mean I don't like, I don't like getting going to get a Rooka now.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I hate it, right?
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: You hate it.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you need it, though.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you know, you know, you need it, but you didn't like it.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_03]: John, go for it.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, hey, thanks, Ryan.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_04]: I appreciate it.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Josh.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_04]: So I wanted to ask you a bit about our defense, but also related to your playing days.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_04]: So one thing that the Browns have to address in the near future in the next, I got 15 months probably is Grant Delpit, whether they
- 41:02[SPEAKER_04]: extend him and he's a part of this defense for the long-term or if the between Hickman and Emmanuel McNiel Warren like that's really go at safety you were once in a bit of a contract dispute that like kind of weight on your I guess career where you're going to be you had Deon Sanders going on NFL network every Sunday just
- 41:21[SPEAKER_04]: every Josh Krebs highlight you see again the pay the man pay the man they made the shirts just how cool was that experience for you in a way just like having an NFL legend like Deon Sanders who now obviously we have back and Cleveland in a way like going to bat for you publicly you know the whole fan base wants it to happen to but also what advice would you give for Grant Delpit as he's kind of going through a similar like hey I like I love it here but I don't know if I can get paid to be here absolutely ball out
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know, become inexpensive, right?
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like we all say, people are, you know, expendable.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: When it comes to NFL, because they can find somebody who can almost do what you can do, but at a cheaper rate, he has to make himself like, you know, non-forgot, you can't forget this guy.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_01]: So in that same instant, he has to have an uptick in productivity.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, productivity, breeze, and leniency.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: When you're producing, you know, the reason why it was easy for Dion Sanders, who was commenting broadcasts in the game to say, oh, pay the man, I was scoring touchdowns.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: I was knocking people out.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: I was making tackles on his coverage units.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_01]: I was running the ball back to the 40.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: I was scoring in preseason when the late, great Jimmy Donovan was like, well, you know what I would do?
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: I would renegotiate his contract.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: He said that in preseason.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: I was scoring touchdowns in preseason during a contract year, you know, and I was negotiating with coach Eric Manjini and and I remember coach put, put, put, put, put, you know, paper across the table and I how much you need to stay here.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_01]: He wouldn't have did that if he didn't want me to be there.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_01]: He wouldn't have did that if I wasn't out there still trying to get it with everything inside of me.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's my advice to Grant Delpit.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: Do what got you here.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_01]: Be I like you or that college, you know, that college senior, that's hungry and thirsty to be in the NFL.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I try to capture.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: every season.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like let them see that, I'm him.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: So when he goes out there to either deliver his hits, get in his options, or do his job, he has to recommit himself to the game for that paycheck, because every year is what have you done for me lately.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_03]: Josh, you went through a couple of coaching changes here in Cleveland.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_03]: Believe you came in with Romeo, then Eric got hired, then Pat?
- 43:44[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, ma'am.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_03]: Was there a moment within those coaching transitions where you were either like, I'm all the way bought in?
- 43:52[SPEAKER_03]: Or the opposite?
- 43:53[SPEAKER_03]: Was there a moment where you're like, oh, I don't like the way the things are shaping up here.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_03]: And the reason I asked that is course because Todd Munkin comes in here.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_03]: You got five plus years of chemistry here.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_03]: Brownside Coach hadn't been tenure that long.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_02]: Quite a while.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_03]: So it's an interesting change.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_03]: Was there either those moments due to the good or bad between those side coaching changes for you?
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: I felt bad when Coach Manji, uh, no, when Coach Granale left.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's the guy who, you know, gave me my statement that stuck with me.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: If you could beat a double vice, go down and feel it and make a tackle on an NFL Parmesan.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: You got a job.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, I'm a dude at, you know, what's the double vice?
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'm not going ever for kids because I tell guys that.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he said, if I could beat these two guys and go down and feel, but I didn't know what that was.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: I knew I knew I could do it.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: So that was under Coach, you know, Cranale, players, coach,
- 44:41[SPEAKER_01]: but led really well, mentor, father, type figure.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: We had the best season under him, 10 and 6.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: I sure met the playoffs.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: 10 and 6, but Baltimore was 11 and five and the stills was swimming for.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we were 10 and 6 and for him to be let go after, you know, one season later, you know, that was kind of like, ah, and in Eric Coachman, Jeannie came in ruling with the, that under the Bella Check Tree, who I didn't like at the time.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: But as I, as I got older in this NFL, I understood that was the best thing for me.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: You know, understand, I had to become more intelligent as a football player.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: We all did.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_01]: And that's who I emulate my coaching style off of.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: Majority is Coach Ergman Gini.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: We were more prepared as a team under him.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't necessarily have the talent under him, but we were more prepared as a team under him.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_01]: And then Coach Pat Schermer, who I thought we didn't excel at all under.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: Coach Pat, one thing I learned from him is be the same coach from the first day to the last.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: He felt the Cleveland pressure, and I'm good friends when I call him up to this day.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I remember he was coaching for the Jets.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean for the Giants, and all for me a position.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, you know, I'm okay now, you know, I got a position with the Browns, but I'm okay, but he all for me a position.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_01]: But when he felt that pressure from Cleveland,
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: He changed the type of coach he was.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_01]: He was like, star-cussing us out.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, you cuss?
- 46:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was a different guy.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: He was feeling that pressure.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_01]: And we were like, oh, what was this guy?
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: And people kind of was walking back a little bit because he changed the type of person.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_01]: The coach he was from the first day to the next day when he was under the hot seat.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_01]: so it was different pressure.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: I understood the nature of the NFL and coaching changes.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: I understood our fan base was deserving of a winning season, but they don't take nothing from nobody.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you ain't getting it done, they've ready to get you out of here.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: And that's who you had to become as a coach here.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_01]: It was tough.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's tough to coach here.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: So monkey knows he coached here.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm sure he's ready for that pressure that Cleveland brings.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_03]: Josh, was there a moment in your career when there's a reason you're still in Cleveland right let you absolutely just fell in love with this city fell in love with the fan base Like when did you know that was there a moment that you knew I want to spend my life in Cleveland post football It was Have going I want to say six and 10 Leading the steal the third night and
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: getting invited to the Cavs game, getting sitting on the floor of the Cavs game after six and ten season, and then I'm showing the Pittsburgh, you know, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a,
- 47:40[SPEAKER_04]: It's like brown stadium in here.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, bro.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_01]: We were six and 10, but we spoiled their playoff hopes.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I knew.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to spend my whole career and raise my family here.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_01]: Don't tell my family that because they wanted to make, it was supposed to be about them.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: Loving the season changes.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: My daughter, I tell another great story.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: How my daughter loves the season changes.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: And the kids love to snow in.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't mind it being winner here all because I would take them sledding and we will go in adventures and everything and then the metro parks in the spring we would always go to the metro center and that's what I tell them like all you guys made being in Cleveland but it's the fan base here is how the sport and the fandom treats its athletes when the athlete gives them something to cheer for.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what I worked hard at, making sure that every fan saw my heart on the field, and I truly left it all out there, because I can't walk to this day.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm getting injections, just to walk around.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: Literally, because my cartilage and everything, my hamstring, everything, still out there on the TV.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_03]: Josh, I'd be a miss if I didn't ask you this.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_03]: And of course, don't have to give away anything you can't, but for those that don't know, special teams coach at Kent State, Josh, you were a legend and Cleveland, but also in Kent State, man, you got a sandwich
- 48:55[SPEAKER_03]: How's it going, man?
- 48:57[SPEAKER_03]: Is it been everything you thought so far?
- 48:59[SPEAKER_01]: I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm exalted sometimes like, you know, pulling up the place.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_01]: Cause college in the NFL is different coaching.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_01]: We got 113rd team players on a team.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_01]: College, you got the 53 man roster, so I'm dealing with about, you know, I'm dealing with the whole team, but a smaller version of the team.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: right?
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: And it's significantly different.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: So it is just amazing to see, you know, myself and that position being as though, that's, I mean, I'm the, that's my alma mater.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: And then the see those guys look at look back at me when I'm coaching them.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, that's the feeling I got.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: when I was coaching at the NFL level because their jobs depend on it.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: If they're playing special teams at the NFL level, they got to listen to me.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm their ticket to stay on that team and so they're looking at me like with admiration and taking notes and that's how it is at the collegiate level.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel the pressure and I'm applying that NFL mindset to my coaching ability and I love every moment of it.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_04]: So obviously you're a dad more than you are a football player or a football coach or anything like that.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_04]: But anytime you get to match those worlds together, it's probably pretty cool.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_04]: So how special was it to give Izzy his first college?
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_01]: You, you couldn't set it better than that to mesh those things together.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_01]: I, I don't see a difference for real when we talk about being a dad and a coach.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_01]: Because that's how I feel when I'm coaching these guys.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling these guys, you know.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: charge it to our heads, not our hearts when we're hard on you guys, when we're giving you when we're pouring into them, it says, if you're my son, I'm pulling everything out of me to give to you so you can have success.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_01]: There's the same thing I do to my son and sometimes he doesn't like it.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: And he, you know, he, he, he, he, he rebelled from that because he's heard it all before.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm trying to give him everything and like, man, listen to me, I'm your dad.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm still your coach, you know, so for me to see how far he's come to have to know in his potential.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: It was a no-brainer for me to offer him.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_01]: I can only hope that he would choose Kent State to follow on my footsteps if he needed to, right?
- 51:17[SPEAKER_01]: I could only hope that he had bigger schools and say, I'm still going to Kent State.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna be like, oh yeah, I might set a tier.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_01]: But I know he has the ability.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_01]: He has two more years left at high school.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's at Holbin, our Bishop Holbin.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_01]: They play real big time footballer there, so they do.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I can't wait to see what he can become.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: job or go ahead.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I got some insider information that he could probably start right now I can't state.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: If you agree with that one, Josh, but I might go ahead and say that college football right now.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_02]: I can't even imagine going through that recruiting process with your son right now.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_02]: Do you see any similarities?
- 51:53[SPEAKER_02]: The Sanders family.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_02]: The new the new Cribs family could be the next Sanders family.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate that.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_01]: They are included.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with that.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: However, one thing I wanted to explore for him is, when I was raising my daughter up, she was already known as, oh, that's Creole's daughter.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_01]: Her senior paper was stepping out of my father's shoes.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a diss track to me.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, what?
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: but it was her final her own identity.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_01]: I saw for my son and she did that.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: She went to camp for a semester, got straight A's and rode herself into North Carolina and then graduated last fall.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_01]: Final had her own identity.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_01]: For my son, I played football.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_01]: I went to the NFL.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_01]: I started my life at Kent State University.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: That was me, I did that at the highest level.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's time for him to do what he's meant to do.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_01]: It may not be football in the end.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_01]: He was training to become a pilot.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be supportive.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_01]: However, I'm a dad.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_01]: I want him to play sports.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, but I have to leave space and leave room for him to become and to reach the heights that he's meant to become, that he's meant to reach.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the difficult transition and my evolution is.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_01]: allowing him to do what he's meant to do and not pushing something that I want him to do.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_01]: Well, all those parents out there.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_03]: Josh, the last one before you get John here.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_03]: Going a little off track here.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_03]: Are you familiar by chance with the show survivor?
- 53:22[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to play a clip for you.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_03]: It's a filetaler.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_03]: I want you to react to it.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_03]: Here we go.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_04]: Got it.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_04]: Jack, what do you think?
- 53:29[SPEAKER_04]: You, I got to take Josh Krebs here.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_04]: I, I, I, I think Kre, I think I don't know.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_04]: No, hey, hey.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_04]: He's going to be a dog in the challenges.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_04]: He's talking to the challenges, right, talking to the challenges.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to call free.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_04]: He has a game.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be like, I'm over here with Josh.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_01]: And he over here trying to survive.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to let John know.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's doing all right.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_01]: But he would have been all right.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to create a new fear factor.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_01]: Fear factor.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_03]: Is he not giving you oops?
- 53:55[SPEAKER_03]: Josh is he not giving you enough credit, man.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_03]: He said you could do fear factor, but he's not buying you on survivor.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_01]: He probably feels like, because we're NFL guys, right?
- 54:04[SPEAKER_01]: He probably feels like, my crib's ain't doing that, man.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: The crib's ain't going sign up for that.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_01]: I could do it, right?
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: If I was there, I would be a great survivor because they have challenges.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_01]: I grew up on Daredevil, and what's the show?
- 54:21[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: That they, what was that Nickelodeon show?
- 54:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know all those those I know something like all that shit Yeah, like all those shows when they you know and Um, what's the one that came on Saturday with the uh uh with the the the names the warrior names Yeah, it was like American warrior Yeah, so you're talking about just that no That's your gladiator.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh Oh Who up on that when they was having the paintball all these little challenges running up the
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: All that even American Ninja Warrior like I'm an athlete It's like a shit you give rock shack versus.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's like a crepes versus a different places and clear I'm not the most athletic guy anymore because again I tell you guys I put it all out there on the field.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_01]: I get up you can hear my bones cracked I can't sneak up on nobody because how it sounds like I'm stepping on rice crispy trees And you can hear the snap crackling punch, but
- 55:18[SPEAKER_01]: I disagree with, uh, field, man.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_01]: I could not, I killed, uh, survivor and, uh, fear factor.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_02]: You'd crush it though, the thing about it is, like, on survivor Josh, I don't know, Maria on social media, she might disagree, but you're too honest for the game.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_02]: You're not, you're not going to be able to all play for it.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_02]: Can I keep on the next?
- 55:34[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, Maria, I will.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_02]: If you teamed up with Maria, maybe you guys could take it home, but you might manage to answer, right?
- 55:39[SPEAKER_02]: Maria convinced you about it right now.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell you that right now.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, because they know how to play the game.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_02]: Play the game, the social game.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_01]: However, we would talk about always playing American race.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know how they go in from different countries.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_01]: Amazing.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_04]: We're seeing Jerry Barney, John, that, I learned that this week.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_04]: He was on it.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think me and Maria wouldn't do that good because one time, one episode they had to put together some IKEA furniture.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_01]: Well, somehow.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_01]: That would be very difficult, too.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_01]: And we would be at each other, the throats.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_01]: But the activities we would excel at.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_02]: No directions, Josh.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_01]: I always have screws, I put the gun in the trigger.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_01]: I put the gun in the uh, was the electric thing they get in and drive the kids that uh, oh, yeah, like the go cards and stuff.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_01]: Was the thing that they get in as toddlers?
- 56:26[SPEAKER_01]: Dodgers?
- 56:27[SPEAKER_01]: The uh, the little card that they drive around in.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_02]: I know what you're talking about, yeah, I don't know what you're talking about.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_04]: Little Tykes or something.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_01]: Little Tykes.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_01]: So, I think I do good on those things, I love them.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_03]: Josh, we appreciate your time, my friend, look forward to talking to you next week, go Browns.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_03]: We got to take a quick break.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_03]: We'll be right back in a big, play Cleveland Show.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, everybody, welcome back into the Big Play Cleveland Show, presented by Fandwell Live, right here on YouTube, guys.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_03]: We walked them two Cleveland legends onto the show, Carlos Bairka, as well as Jeff Cray.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_02]: Let's make it three times.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_02]: Come on, let's go.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_02]: Come on, let's go.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_03]: Come on out of the program.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_03]: Sam Amico.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_03]: Senior NBA Raider for Hoops, while you're a good morning, Sam, how are you?
- 57:20[SPEAKER_05]: Good, is this still morning?
- 57:21[SPEAKER_05]: Cause it feels like morning.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_05]: You're trying to do to me.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_03]: To you, it's morning, cause we know what time you get up.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_03]: Sam, what the hell is going on with a bronze James man?
- 57:29[SPEAKER_03]: No decision yet.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_03]: Do you still think the calves are the favorite and what's the latest you're here in my friend?
- 57:34[SPEAKER_05]: And how's your day?
- 57:36[SPEAKER_05]: You know, it's, I kind of expected an answer by today or a decision by today.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if once come and this weekend, I don't know, obviously.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_05]: Are the caps of favorite?
- 57:51[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, those are kind of the vibes are pointing that way.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_05]: It almost seems too obvious that kind of I think if you're, you know, Cavaliers fan and you won't well, Brian James to come back.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_05]: That kind of has you a little nervous that it seems so leaning in Cleveland's direction, almost like they might pull some kind of surprise, but
- 58:15[SPEAKER_05]: You know, the latest is just what Rich Paul is saying, which is a whole lot of, you know, kind of talking in circles a little bit, but I think that's part of the game here, you know, kind of keeping everybody gasing, keeping us on the edge of our seats, and it just seems like there's really no, until a Brian announces it, this is gonna be the game that's being played.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_04]: So Sam, whenever you and I go golfing together and people take pictures of us, no one's accusing us of joining the same team next year.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_04]: But LeBron and Dramon were snapped.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_04]: I believe in Puerto Rico.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_04]: I believe so.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, they were in Puerto Rico together.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_04]: Do you think there's any chance that Dramon Green would join LeBron on the calves next year should LeBron come to Cleveland?
- 59:08[SPEAKER_05]: I wouldn't rule anything out.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_05]: Wow, I don't know, to me, that seems like a long shot.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_05]: But a lot of things seem like a long shot that actually ended up happening.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_05]: But I don't think that that's a priority for anybody.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_05]: I think drama on one step finishes career with the warriors, the connection there obviously is that they share rich polls and agent.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_05]: So to me, it just seems like we read a lot into things that
- 59:42[SPEAKER_05]: may or may not happen.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_05]: Listen, LeBron is going to hang out with other clutch clients.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_05]: Rich Paul is going to mention other clutch clients, a lot of he's done that in the podcast with Tyre's Maxi and Darious Garland and a few other guys.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_05]: So I do think that things were on hold with Dramon Green and the Warriors because of LeBron and I think certainly know they're on
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_05]: and the Cavaliers because of LeBron.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_05]: So to me, it seems like a long shot that dream on would would join, but no, I certainly wouldn't roll it out even.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, Sam something about the Cleveland psyche is when you get radio silence that tends to be a negative thing and you know that's kind of where we're sitting at this is a third LeBron watch summer official LeBron watch summer here in Cleveland, but do you think radio silence from LeBron besides rich Paulies the only one who's really been speaking as you mentioned do you think that ends up netting positively for the Cleveland Cavaliers that LeBron will come back or do you kind of just think he's truly undecided at this point?
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_05]: No, I think he made the decision when he left the lakeers now.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_05]: I think he knows I think they know
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_05]: Um, can this is just a guy wailing.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what's the point of waiting?
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_05]: No, I don't think I, you know, I think we're here in all about these trades and, you know, what, what it'll take for LeBron to come back, um, I could be completely wrong.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe the Philadelphia 76ers all of a sudden put themselves in position where they weren't being considered at all before, um,
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_05]: with the jail of brown trade, but I'll say this.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_05]: I think that he had a really good idea what he was going to do.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_05]: If it's Cleveland, if he chooses Cleveland, he knew when he let the lakers know.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_05]: He may have known back in January.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_05]: You know, when I think that's when the Lakers were in town in January, I was at that game to have never covered LeBron since 2010, have never seen him so emotional as he was that day.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_05]: We've all seen the videos with him crying and, you know, tearing up at the tribute video.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_05]: I really, what, what I saw him being emotional and very kind of reflective.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_05]: was at his post-game press conference.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_05]: And I thought, wow, LeBron, he's either going to retire or he's coming back here.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_05]: That was the first time I thought, he's not going back to LA.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_05]: So, because that time in Cleveland, in January when the Lakers were here, it felt like the end of his run in LA to me.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_05]: I didn't know what would be next, but I thought, I think this is it for Los Angeles.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_05]: So, I do think if it's Cleveland,
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_05]: he had made that decision some time ago.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_03]: Sam feel free to disagree to me won't be the first time won't be the last.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_03]: It feels like this LeBron back to Cleveland thing kind of started at least in my opinion as a want for this team and it's quickly evolved into a need.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_03]: You see, honest, go to the heat, him and bam, and then Philadelphia, I don't need to mention it, Jalen Brown.
- 1:02:48[SPEAKER_03]: Right, you still got the Celtics, you still got the Pistons, etc.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_03]: Do you feel that way?
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of turned into almost a need for the cabs for main tile contenders in the eastern conference and have the cabs done enough to I know you're an optimist, but the broad doesn't come to Cleveland.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_03]: Really, what are the moves they can make to improve to remain that?
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, it's going to be tough.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_05]: There's not a whole lot out there.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_05]: It does become a need.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_05]: Now, yes.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_05]: Believe it or not, I'm not disagreeing with you.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_05]: Thanks, Budza.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_05]: I do think that it's...
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_05]: You know, you've got that spot that you need to fill now.
- 1:03:22[SPEAKER_05]: You've lost Dean Wade, you've lost Kian Ellis, and that, you know, granted you saw Jalen Tyson to fill that role.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_05]: You saw Max Struse who filled that role admirably before.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_05]: But,
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_05]: In order to have some depth at that spot, you've got to figure out a way to get a guy like LeBron James, who's been there many, many times when it comes to playing in the finals, the championship mentality, a point forward who will keep the ball moving, who can act as a coach on the floor and in the locker room.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_05]: and offer some extra leadership.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_05]: And the great thing about LeBron that I noticed last year with the Lakers, he didn't just, you know, you didn't just hear, oh, he's okay with being the third option behind.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_05]: Luca and Austin Reeves offensively.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_05]: He went out on the floor and proved it.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, he was a willing pastor.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_05]: There were times I was watching the lakers where I thought, well, Brian, shoot.
- 1:04:20[SPEAKER_05]: Because he was always distributing.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_05]: And that's really the thing he would bring to Cleveland.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_05]: And a thing they could really use an extra ball handler, particularly somebody who's, you can make the case the greatest ever, even at his advanced age,
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_05]: would really be in huge uplift to the whole offensive scheme and what they're doing.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, it is in the base on what you just said, what these other teams have gone out and done with the heat, getting the honest and the sixors getting Jalen Brown and you know, the pistons are still going to be in play here, obviously the New York mixer defending NBA champs.
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_05]: And the cabs have not, at least on paper, they've lost a couple guys haven't added anybody.
- 1:05:15[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, either way if they at LeBron are not, they're going to still kind of be scrambleing to build the roster up a little bit more.
- 1:05:24[SPEAKER_04]: So Sam in a world where they don't end up getting LeBron, then he just scrambled to improve this roster in some way, shape, or form before opening night in October.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_04]: One third of the triumvirate here in this room at Burke Lake front airport is a massive, tomorrow-derozen fan.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_04]: I will not reveal who it is of the three of us.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_04]: Is there any world where a tomorrow-derozen is a match if he comes back on, or if he comes on a minimum contract, should LeBron not come?
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_04]: Or should LeBron come?
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I don't know that he would come on a minimum contract, but he's in play for sure.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_05]: The caps have been linked to him.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_05]: They've been caps in the heat.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_05]: Are the two teams that I'm hearing most being linked to Demard Rosen?
- 1:06:08[SPEAKER_05]: He could certainly come either way, and I think that you can create some space for him.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_05]: You're not going to want to go out and got the roster for him.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_05]: He's 37 years old, but he can still score.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_05]: He's very good, obviously, late in games.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_05]: He gets you buckets.
- 1:06:30[SPEAKER_05]: And he does offer a lot of things.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_05]: But I do think, yes, the margin rose
- 1:06:38[SPEAKER_05]: Um, and I, you know, I don't know how the salaries would work.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_05]: You, I think you'd have to make some kind of deal to clear up a little bit more space if you could, but, you know, I think it'd be a lot easier to sign them if you do get LeBron, you know, then maybe you'd say, okay, he'll come for the minimum, he would say that.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_05]: So there's definitely a world where tomorrow to rose and could, you know, end up here.
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_04]: So sorry for the quick follow-up question because I am adamant I am the person in the stream who wants to mark the rosin.
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_04]: I am adamant about him coming to Cleveland.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_04]: It seems like there's it's been reported for a week or two now that Max Cruz and Dennis Schroeder could both be cap casualties here to make a contract whether it's like a LeBron or maybe even a smaller extent like deros and more possible.
- 1:07:24[SPEAKER_04]: Do you think either those moves will actually get made because I feel it goes for things you would have already done.
- 1:07:30[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think they'll give me.
- 1:07:31[SPEAKER_05]: I think they could.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_05]: You're going to have a hard time moving to a shooter.
- 1:07:35[SPEAKER_05]: You just are.
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, 14 million who.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:07:40[SPEAKER_04]: It's more than 10 or 5.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 1:07:42[SPEAKER_05]: And he didn't exactly.
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_05]: He didn't have a great.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_05]: He didn't have a great.
- 1:07:46[SPEAKER_05]: He wasn't bad.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_05]: He just wasn't consistent.
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_05]: That's been the case with him.
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_05]: His entire career.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_05]: That's why he's played for 270.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_05]: You know, so he played for all 30.
- 1:07:57[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you could potentially get there with him and think of all the free gear you get.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_05]: But I just think it's going to be difficult to trade him.
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_05]: You know, Struce obviously a little bit easier if that's a road you want to go down.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_05]: But again, there's so many, listen, the caps and the warriors, even the heat a little bit, everything's kind of unfold right now while they're waiting for this main domino to fall.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_05]: And that's why, that's why I think on top of just knowing where LeBron is going to go next, I think it would be beneficial for him to decide because the team he goes to could, you know,
- 1:08:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Sam, one of the things to have Lebron does come here to Cleveland.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_02]: We're speaking of difficult to trade.
- 1:08:51[SPEAKER_02]: Jared Allen seems like he's been in trade talks ever since he walked in the door here in Cleveland, but if Caves do bring in Lebron James, do you see that starting five being Donovan Mitchell, James Harden Lebron, Evan Mobily and Jared Allen opening night or do you think they try to make some extra moves?
- 1:09:03[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we've seen them try to trade Jared Allen or at least had some rumors to do.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_02]: So doesn't seem like anyone's biting.
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why they would after Lebron.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_02]: Do you see that being the opening day line up for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I do, I think it's unlikely that they would make another deal.
- 1:09:20[SPEAKER_05]: I think the idea would be these four guys got to the Eastern Conference finals last year.
- 1:09:27[SPEAKER_05]: What's going to lift them up?
- 1:09:28[SPEAKER_05]: You know, if I'm the caps, I'm asking, do we blow it's 22 point lead in New York and game one?
- 1:09:34[SPEAKER_05]: If we have LeBron genes?
- 1:09:35[SPEAKER_05]: No.
- 1:09:36[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I mean, so you look at the other four as if this is this is pretty good where we're set up, and again, the Brian brings a whole other dynamic to that spot that they really haven't found a consistent starter in that spot that small forward spot since he left eight years ago.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_05]: you know, and that was a problem.
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_05]: The first time you left those four years, they couldn't fill that spot.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_05]: They've had some good guys, you know, I mean, Dean Wade, my extras, Jalen Tyson, Sam Merrill, spilled in there once in a while, but they just haven't found the guy.
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_05]: It said, this is our guy at the three spot.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_05]: And I think that if LeBron were to return, you've solved that.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_05]: So keep the other four together, see how it goes with LeBron, and
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_05]: You know, the only time you would trade Jared Allen or really any of those four is if can we get an obvious upgrade.
- 1:10:37[SPEAKER_05]: And I don't think you can.
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_05]: I think you can get pieces and parks for Jared Allen.
- 1:10:41[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think you're going to get a guy who's equal to him at the center position or an obvious, a very special Jared Allen's coming off a career season.
- 1:10:48[SPEAKER_05]: And so I would strongly suspect that if LeBron were to return, they would roll out the floor that they had last year to end the season with him as your obvious starting small four.
- 1:11:03[SPEAKER_03]: Sam last one for you.
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_03]: I know you got to get out of here.
- 1:11:05[SPEAKER_03]: Do you believe the Cavaliers and the lack of the free agent signings, the lack of offseason activity has been the cabs kind of waiting in anticipation to revolve everything in terms of their offseason plans to brought about LeBron James.
- 1:11:17[SPEAKER_03]: And then in the case that he doesn't come back to Cleveland, is there any other way to look at this offseason than a massive failure?
- 1:11:25[SPEAKER_05]: Well, it would be just a big disappointment, yes.
- 1:11:30[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know that you would consider a mass of failure until you see what they do going into the year.
- 1:11:37[SPEAKER_05]: You know, people don't like to hear this, but I always say you have all the way until early February, you make a trade.
- 1:11:44[SPEAKER_05]: You don't have to do it going.
- 1:11:45[SPEAKER_05]: When in the year you don't have to start, 12 an hour, whatever they did a couple years ago, you've just got to be your best when it means the most at the end of the year.
- 1:11:54[SPEAKER_05]: So,
- 1:11:56[SPEAKER_05]: I wouldn't, listen, normally I'm with fans, be patient, they have all the way to February make a treat.
- 1:12:03[SPEAKER_05]: I would feel like you guys got to do something before the start of the season, before training camp comes.
- 1:12:12[SPEAKER_05]: You know, little brown things out of their control, and I think that, you know, some of the, they don't have a ton of moves that they could make until they find out about
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_05]: You know, so they have to improve the roster clearly, not necessarily from a starting standpoint, but if a LeBron doesn't return, you've got to figure out who's going to start and that spot is it going to be max, Bruce again.
- 1:12:41[SPEAKER_05]: It could be, but that, and that's fine, or Jalen Tyson, but you've got to shore up the bench, you know, you've got to find defense, because you lost Kionelles, obviously, Dean Wade, too.
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_05]: If not, you're absolute too best wing defenders.
- 1:12:57[SPEAKER_05]: So, I wouldn't say it's a massive failure, but I would say, you know, this has been a pretty big disappointment.
- 1:13:12[SPEAKER_05]: I don't I wouldn't like their chances at all rolling into the season like this.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_03]: Me neither Sam.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, I'm so glad that our show wraps up at 130 and we appreciate you for time because you're going to be on Colin Coward.
- 1:13:24[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going on with Colin.
- 1:13:29[SPEAKER_05]: You know, Jack, I learned many years ago that when LeBronon's in town, everybody wants to talk to me.
- 1:13:38[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, I talked to you before LeBronon's in a rumor.
- 1:13:43[SPEAKER_05]: But when he's not in town,
- 1:13:45[SPEAKER_05]: Suddenly.
- 1:13:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, tell Colin.
- 1:13:47[SPEAKER_02]: We're good.
- 1:13:47[SPEAKER_02]: We got Ben Simmons now.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_02]: Just tell him that for me.
- 1:13:49[SPEAKER_05]: I'll mention that.
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_02]: Appreciate it.
- 1:13:51[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of them.
- 1:13:52[SPEAKER_03]: Sam, thank you for your time.
- 1:13:53[SPEAKER_03]: My friend.
- 1:13:54[SPEAKER_03]: We'll talk to you next week.
- 1:13:55[SPEAKER_03]: Have a wonderful weekend.
- 1:13:57[SPEAKER_03]: See Sam.
- 1:13:58[SPEAKER_03]: We got to take one more break.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_03]: What we get back.
- 1:14:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'll tell you about the best sports book.
- 1:14:01[SPEAKER_03]: There isn't fan who guardians start in a series against the Miami Marlins.
- 1:14:05[SPEAKER_03]: Just Jack think they're going to win it.
- 1:14:06[SPEAKER_03]: We'll talk.
- 1:14:07[SPEAKER_03]: We get right back here on Big Play Cleveland.
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody welcome back into the big play Cleveland show presented by Fandle live right here on YouTube Or maybe you're watching on the rock.
- 1:14:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I do you guys, too.
- 1:14:17[SPEAKER_03]: We're gonna transition but first I got to tell everybody about the best sports book There is and that's our friends over at Fandle and on the biggest stage in world Fandle is changing the game because sometimes your players get subbed off and your pet goes with them Not anymore with Fandle super sub if your players subbed out your best stays in that's right if your player leaves a match You're back continues on with the substitute so you're still in it until the final whistle
- 1:14:38[SPEAKER_03]: Because in matches like these, anything can happen.
- 1:14:40[SPEAKER_03]: And now your bet can go the distance.
- 1:14:41[SPEAKER_03]: Let there be goals this summer on fandal visit fandal.com slash big play to get started now.
- 1:14:47[SPEAKER_03]: 21 plus it's like states for Kansas and affiliation with Kent Stark Sino.
- 1:14:50[SPEAKER_03]: 18 plus DC Kentucky Wyoming gambling problem call 1-800 gambler or 1-800 my reset jack Cleveland Guardians battling against the Miami Marlins.
- 1:14:59[SPEAKER_03]: They're what four games I believe four more wins in us and they're third in their division.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we're second.
- 1:15:04[SPEAKER_03]: The Aile Central Merchants check.
- 1:15:05[SPEAKER_03]: You like our odds in this one.
- 1:15:07[SPEAKER_04]: No, actually I don't know.
- 1:15:09[SPEAKER_04]: I love the direction this team is heading in general.
- 1:15:12[SPEAKER_04]: I think we're in a good spot, but the fish have some really tough pitching and that's going to be the thing that's a concern over the weekend.
- 1:15:17[SPEAKER_04]: Like if you're going Alcantara Perez and then Meyer like there.
- 1:15:21[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's probably a top five.
- 1:15:24[SPEAKER_04]: tough group of three in a rotation you could run through just on a weekend series in the national league.
- 1:15:28[SPEAKER_04]: So I think things could be a little tough before the all-star break, but in general like that's a big like if you have gap to gap power like a lot of our guys do not it's kind of light tower power for your guards you want to play to park like marlins park where you got like a bunch of open maybe it's low and deep open now actually they got a bunch of like open stuff out in the center field.
- 1:15:47[SPEAKER_04]: area gaps to the left and right side.
- 1:15:49[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't know.
- 1:15:49[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you can get some stuff down.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_04]: Chris Jim and I was mentioned it last time he came on.
- 1:15:54[SPEAKER_04]: But Gabriel R.E.S did hit like maybe the farthest home run in the history of baseball last time we played down there two years ago.
- 1:16:00[SPEAKER_04]: So maybe maybe a Gabby home.
- 1:16:01[SPEAKER_04]: He's been hit no run in like I hey I I said some mean words about Gabriel R.E.S.
- 1:16:06[SPEAKER_04]: I'll be the first to admit it.
- 1:16:07[SPEAKER_04]: And maybe they'll end up being right.
- 1:16:08[SPEAKER_04]: But he's he's had a couple of bombs last couple of days.
- 1:16:10[SPEAKER_04]: So I got a E.C.R.O.
- 1:16:12[SPEAKER_04]: as Matt Fontaine was
- 1:16:13[SPEAKER_02]: the sound of that home run in an empty loan depot ballpark with so funny people don't realize right now Josh Bell bring training home run three years ago.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:16:22[SPEAKER_04]: All of all time.
- 1:16:23[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to get 60 home runs after that.
- 1:16:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, dude.
- 1:16:26[SPEAKER_02]: He was he was going to be good here in Cleveland, until he was in Cleveland.
- 1:16:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:16:29[SPEAKER_02]: So, Cleo Watson, I'm glad you brought him up too because he was a former first round pick for the Marlins.
- 1:16:33[SPEAKER_02]: We got him in exchange for Josh Bell.
- 1:16:34[SPEAKER_02]: I do kind of like him to take a home run this week.
- 1:16:37[SPEAKER_02]: Take that bet on the Fandle Sportsbook.
- 1:16:38[SPEAKER_02]: Two plus total bases tonight against San Dio Contera.
- 1:16:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'll contrived for good.
- 1:16:42[SPEAKER_02]: But two plus bases at plus 180 actually really love the value on that one.
- 1:16:45[SPEAKER_02]: But a home run at plus 600.
- 1:16:47[SPEAKER_02]: Don't tempt me now.
- 1:16:48[SPEAKER_03]: Alright guys, want to get your thoughts for you to wrap up here.
- 1:16:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeri Perez gets pulled from the game.
- 1:16:52[SPEAKER_03]: He's throwing a perfect game.
- 1:16:54[SPEAKER_03]: Who's side you take into that?
- 1:16:55[SPEAKER_03]: Is that out of the manager?
- 1:16:57[SPEAKER_03]: Is that kind of, you know, bull what?
- 1:17:00[SPEAKER_02]: The tough part is like seven no hit right seven basically he was at well, I think a hundred hundred hundred hit from wrong Pat police.
- 1:17:06[SPEAKER_03]: It was not only he was throwing a no hear he was perfect perfect through seven in anxiety.
- 1:17:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's a huge difference especially with I think it was at a hundred pitches already.
- 1:17:14[SPEAKER_02]: If it was below a hundred terrible decision in my opinion, chance to make baseball history there's only been like what 26 or 27 of those perfect games in MLB history.
- 1:17:22[SPEAKER_02]: You got to give your guy a chance especially in a season where the marlins are really ascending.
- 1:17:26[SPEAKER_02]: I understand you want to control
- 1:17:29[SPEAKER_02]: A certain point in time, we saw Edwin Jackson try to do it with 150 pitches.
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_02]: I know this isn't the 1905 of whatever series anymore where people throw 200 pitches in a game, but you got to give your guy a chance, I didn't like it.
- 1:17:40[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the same is a literally world series where there's just some kid throwing 170 pitches.
- 1:17:45[SPEAKER_04]: Like, yeah, I don't know, because I do see both sides of it.
- 1:17:49[SPEAKER_04]: I think when you're like the marlins and you are having a good year as you said, Pat, like you look like the town fool if the kid gives up a hit.
- 1:17:55[SPEAKER_04]: with two outs in the eighth and he's thrown 118 pitches and then he messes his arm up right if he gets the perfect game at school.
- 1:18:02[SPEAKER_04]: But also at the same time in modern baseball where we have zero care about arm care whatsoever.
- 1:18:07[SPEAKER_04]: Now like we were teaching every 15 year old to try and throw 100 and ripped the nastiest curve ball of all time.
- 1:18:15[SPEAKER_04]: Everyone hurts their arm.
- 1:18:16[SPEAKER_04]: Everyone gets injured.
- 1:18:17[SPEAKER_04]: Every young pitcher has issues like you
- 1:18:20[SPEAKER_04]: Look at like the nationals, for example, how many times in a row did the national shutdown Steven Straussberg and yes, they got their world series where he was the world series MVP, but like Steven Straussberg was hurt for 70% of his career, it always felt like because like even though they did shut him down with all the armed care and stuff.
- 1:18:34[SPEAKER_04]: So it's tough and it's such like a rule of thumb, like I think it's like depending on the situation, but if you know that if it's through seven, you already thrown a hundred, it's going to take what at least 125
- 1:18:47[SPEAKER_03]: Since he or he's credit, who is obviously upset one or just staying in the game completely understand the bullpen nearly blew the game and he almost didn't even get a win from that.
- 1:18:55[SPEAKER_04]: So then you know, you know, pisses me off though was it was it the was it Gavin or no was it yeah was Gavin where there was the bunk that broke up.
- 1:19:02[SPEAKER_03]: He had no header and like we're losing yeah, we'll try to bun and then he got the like he floated over.
- 1:19:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and like push like always has been yeah, but people like people had freak out about that suck.
- 1:19:13[SPEAKER_03]: really like there there's no such thing as I think you should be able to break it up at with a bond at any point in time that's part of baseball go feel there fair enough fair enough we got ahead out here we're at a time appreciate everybody tuning into the big play Cleveland show don't forget to like comment subscribe all that jazz we certainly appreciate it shout out Carlos shout out shout out to him with me go I'm gonna go watch on the Colin Coward show in the second we'll be back on Monday until then have a wonderful weekend and we'll see you on big play Cleveland
