- 0:00Genesis chapter 50, let us pray, our Father, who is in heaven,
- 0:06holy is your name, your Kingdom come, and your will be done here
- 0:11on this earth, just as it is there in heaven.
- 0:14Give us this day, Our Daily Bread.
- 0:17Forgive us God, for all the times that we have short come.
- 0:21Every single time we've trespassed.
- 0:23God, help us to forgive those who trespass against us.
- 0:28God, don't let us be LED off into temptation, but deliver us,
- 0:31God, from the evil one. For yours is the power and the
- 0:36Kingdom and the glory and the honor, forever and ever.
- 0:39King Jesus Christ, the blessed anointed One, the Son of God,
- 0:45the Son of man, We thank you for your finished work of the cross.
- 0:49We thank you that you are the all sufficient sacrifice.
- 0:54We worship you today, King Jesus, in spirit and truth.
- 1:00Teach us your ways. And it's in your holy and
- 1:03precious and powerful name that I pray.
- 1:05Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 1:12And Joseph fell upon his Father's face and wept upon him,
- 1:17and kissed him. We remember whenever Jacob was
- 1:21coming out of the land of Egypt and God, or coming out of the
- 1:24land of Canaan into the land of Egypt, and God told him, do not
- 1:28be afraid that Joseph himself will put his hands on your eyes.
- 1:32And here we see how God made good on his promise unto Jacob.
- 1:39Verse 2. And Joseph commanded his
- 1:41servants, the physicians, to embalm his father, and the
- 1:45physicians embalmed Israel. So here we know that the
- 1:49Egyptians were good at what they did when it came to preserving
- 1:54the body. And here Joseph is saying, go
- 2:00ahead and preserve him so that I can take him back down into
- 2:05Canaan. 3 and 40 days were fulfilled for him, and so are
- 2:10fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed.
- 2:13And the Egyptians mourn for him three score and 10 days.
- 2:16So for 40 days, which was one of the most honourable practices
- 2:23amongst the Egyptians, that they sat and they mourned for the
- 2:27father of the man who helped them through all of the famine
- 2:35in the land. For.
- 2:37And when the days of his mourning were passed, Joseph
- 2:40spoke unto the House of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found
- 2:45grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of
- 2:48Pharaoh, saying, My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die in
- 2:56my grave which I have dug for me in the land of Canaan there
- 3:01shall ye bury me now? Therefore let me go up, I pray
- 3:05you, and bury my father, and I will come again.
- 3:08So Joseph is asking for a pass to be able to go and to bury his
- 3:14father in The Cave of Mapala, runs by mammary in The Cave that
- 3:21was bought by Abraham. And you can see here that he has
- 3:28a wonderful relationship with Pharaoh, but he is tactful as he
- 3:34speaks through Pharaoh's counsel. 6 And Pharaoh said, Go
- 3:40up, bear your father, according as he made you swear. 7 And
- 3:45Joseph went up to bury his father, and with him went up all
- 3:50the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of the house, and the
- 3:53elders of the land of Egypt. 8 And all the House of Joseph and
- 3:58his brothers and his father's house, only their little ones
- 4:01and their flocks and their herds they left in the land of Goshen.
- 4:05It was surety that they were coming back, that they were not
- 4:08trying to pull a fast one over on Pharaoh. 9 And there went up
- 4:13with him both Chariots and horsemen, and it was a very
- 4:16great company. 10 And they came to the threshing floor at
- 4:20Eightide, which is beyond Jordan, and there they mourn
- 4:24with the great and very sore lamentation.
- 4:27And he made a mourning for his father seven days.
- 4:31So this was quite the spectacle, this loud mourning for the
- 4:36patriarch that has died. 11 And when the inhabitants of the land
- 4:46of Canaan saw the mourning on the floor of Atad, they said
- 4:50This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians.
- 4:54Wherefore the name of it was called Abel Mizrayem, which is
- 4:58beyond Jordan. So Mizraham is always attached
- 5:02to the land of Egypt. 12 And his sons did unto him, according as
- 5:07he commanded them. Thirteen.
- 5:08For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried
- 5:12him in The Cave. The field of Makwala, which
- 5:15Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a bearing
- 5:18place of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre. 14 And Joseph
- 5:23returned into Egypt, he and his brothers and all that went up
- 5:27with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.
- 5:31So here you can see that he made good on his word to Israel, and
- 5:36he let him know that before he died he would take him back into
- 5:42the land there. 15 And when Joseph's brothers saw that their
- 5:47father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate
- 5:52us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did
- 5:57unto them. So we see this fear come
- 6:00creeping in to the brothers, and they remember just how vile and
- 6:05despicable they have acted towards Joseph, and they have
- 6:12not quite figured out that Joseph has gotten over it.
- 6:16And Joseph's going to let them know how he truly feels about
- 6:20it. 16 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Your father
- 6:25did command before he died, saying, 17 So shall you say unto
- 6:33Joseph, Forgive, I pray you now the trespass of your brothers
- 6:38and their sin, for they did unto you evil.
- 6:41And now we pray you forgive the trespass of the servants of the
- 6:46God of your father. And Joseph wept when they spoke
- 6:50to him. Perhaps he wept because he knew
- 6:54it was all a lie, that Jacob probably did not say this, but
- 7:02they made it up so that they could have the Peace of Mind
- 7:08that Joseph wasn't going to turn on them and going to torture
- 7:13them for all the things that they put him through.
- 7:20And he wept because of it. 18 And his brothers also went and
- 7:25fell down before his face, and they said, behold, we be your
- 7:29servants. So here they're saying, please
- 7:31do nothing to us of harm. We are your servants. 19 And
- 7:36Joseph said to them, Fear not, for am I in the place of God?
- 7:44So he's saying I am not God. Do not fear.
- 7:48God has got a hold of me. 20 But As for you, you thought evil
- 7:54against me, but God meant it unto good to bring to pass as it
- 7:58is this day, to save much people alive.
- 8:01So he's saying what the enemy meant for evil.
- 8:03God is used for great good, and he wants to do the same thing in
- 8:08your life, friend. He wants to take all of your
- 8:13misery and turn it into a ministry.
- 8:16Never forget that. 21 Now, therefore fear you not.
- 8:24I will nourish you and your little ones.
- 8:27And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.
- 8:31He's saying, do not fear Now that Daddy's not here, I'm not
- 8:35going to turn. God has got a hold of me.
- 8:40I pray that he has got a hold of you as well.
- 8:43And how can you expect to be forgiven if you will not forgive
- 8:48others? 22 And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he
- 8:53at his father's house. And Joseph lived 110 years. 23
- 8:58And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third
- 9:01generation. The children also of Mecure, the
- 9:05son of Manessa, were brought up upon Joseph's knees.
- 9:08So Joseph had a long prosperous life, and he got to see
- 9:12generations of his seed be born. 24 And Joseph said to his
- 9:20brothers, I die, and God will surely visit you and bring you
- 9:28out of this land unto the land which he swore to Abraham and
- 9:33Isaac, to Jacob. So here Joseph takes the reign
- 9:37of prophesying of the 400 years that they will be enslaved by
- 9:43the Egyptians, but they will come out of that place, and
- 9:47there will be a mighty nation. 25 And Joseph took an oath of
- 9:55the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and
- 9:59you shall carry up my bones from here.
- 10:02So we know that Joseph was not buried in Egypt.
- 10:06His bones sat in a coffin, his bones sat above the ground until
- 10:12the 400 years were up, and they took them out of that place and
- 10:18buried them in the land of Canaan. 26 So Joseph died being
- 10:25110 years old, and they involved him and he was put in a coffin
- 10:30in Egypt. Well, in there, friends, what an
- 10:33amazing chapter in God's Word. I hope you've been blessed by
- 10:36it. You can see how the patriarchs
- 10:38are gone and it's been given over to Joseph to prophecy.
- 10:42And we know that all the prophecies that he said are
- 10:45going to come to fruition and we're going to get to see it as
- 10:48the pages of Scripture unfold. I'm praying for you.
- 10:52I love you. We'll see you back here
- 10:53tomorrow. God bless you.
