- 0:00Jordan Bianchi, Athletic If you have experience, you're
- 0:02obviously on, you know, 2000, what, 2004, you know, that kind
- 0:06of thing, looking at the track then versus now.
- 0:08So how is it the same? How is it different?
- 0:11Yeah, I think much different. You know, it's I was here O2O3O
- 0:15four and then 2012 and all of those, yeah, very different.
- 0:20Those were much more similar, especially the first three
- 0:23years. 12 was a little different.
- 0:25I remember the track that, you know, sealed it and done some
- 0:27different things then. But yeah, this repave is
- 0:30completely different. I was watching some of Chuck
- 0:32practice and the lines are, you know, pretty connected to the
- 0:36bottom still. And you know, you move up some,
- 0:39but it looks you probably lose a bit of speed.
- 0:40So it's it'll be interesting with the weather though, and you
- 0:44know, 8788° tomorrow, I think that'll change kind of how the
- 0:49track feels and some of that stuff a lot.
- 0:50So yeah, hopefully it turns into a really good, you know, really
- 0:54good repave track. You're joining a Richard
- 0:56Childers Racing team, had a lot of speed in its race cars this
- 0:58year with Austin or Jesse. What are your expectations and
- 1:02kind of? Managing that well, it's yeah,
- 1:05it's really, you know, it's great to see those guys running
- 1:07well this year. They were last year as well.
- 1:10But yeah, to start the season really strong and they've been
- 1:13up there each race. Yeah.
- 1:16So I think for myself just to, to be away from this for, for a
- 1:20while and come back with an opportunity and with a really
- 1:24good team, a solid team that races, you know, not every
- 1:27weekend, but they do race a lot. The 33 team does.
- 1:30So it's, it's a team that's put together, you know, not just for
- 1:34myself, it's for others throughout the whole year.
- 1:35So it's, yeah, just a good opportunity to get back in a
- 1:38really good car, good organization, strong team and
- 1:42get to go out there and and see what we can do.
- 1:45We're going to go to the back, the right hand side.
- 1:48Scotty. Sprinkle Race face digital
- 1:50outside of the test we had here in January.
- 1:52I'm curious, what have you been doing personally to kind of get
- 1:55ready and prepare for this weekend?
- 1:58I've been able to do some of the simulator stuff, whether it's at
- 2:01GM or at RCR with the different ones, which which has been
- 2:05really nice. I didn't do a whole lot of that,
- 2:07you know, years back, but I've I've been able to this this time
- 2:11around and I feel like it's all much closer.
- 2:13It was nice to do it after we tested and just to kind of see
- 2:17the similarities, how close it all was.
- 2:20And I feel like it, it's been pretty good.
- 2:22So hopefully that can, you know, can translate and help a good
- 2:26bit here. And then other than that, just
- 2:28trying to really think about, you know, how the races play
- 2:31out, how the pit Rd. stuff restarts, practice, all the
- 2:35little things that go into a race weekend at in a NASCAR
- 2:38level that gets so when when you're doing it all the time, it
- 2:43just gets it just happens. You know, you don't necessarily
- 2:46have to think about that stuff a lot.
- 2:47And for me, I'll have to think about every one of those, you
- 2:50know, little things that happen quickly throughout a race or, or
- 2:54the race weekend. And so just trying to be as
- 2:56prepared as I can, you know, to, to not screw any of that, you
- 3:00know, that little stuff up that'll cost you a lot, Bob.
- 3:02Piper's Fox Sports have a couple.
- 3:03The 1st is is that the Cup Series has gone back to tracks
- 3:07that you've raced at, such as Nashville that were they had
- 3:10gone to for a while, as well as like North Wilkesboro and
- 3:13obviously race. Bowman Gray.
- 3:15Was there any part of you that was jealous that that they're
- 3:18getting to do that and you, you weren't?
- 3:21No, I mean, I've, I've watched it and, you know, like that side
- 3:25of it. I've, I only watched Wilkesboro
- 3:27and Bowman Gray and and those places in the past.
- 3:30I was, it was over by the time I, you know, came into the
- 3:35sport. But yeah, they've been, they've
- 3:38been really good to watch. Cool to go back to some of the
- 3:40venues that may not be as big of places, but the history I think
- 3:44of NASCAR and and great racing is, is at some of those tracks.
- 3:48So Rockingham being one of those as well.
- 3:50So it's, yeah, this I like, you know, where some of that stuff
- 3:54seems to be headed and the the races, the shows that the teams
- 3:59and drivers have put on. And do you feel does this place,
- 4:03would you like to see Cup race back here?
- 4:05Or. I know it's AI mean you race at
- 4:09places all over the country that you know that probably aren't as
- 4:12you know you you race a lot of grassroots places throughout.
- 4:18Yeah, I mean, I, I think a Cup race could probably be really
- 4:21good here, you know, like it used to be.
- 4:23I used to, you know, I used to enjoy watching it or being part
- 4:27of it the the one year I was. And yeah, so it might, it might
- 4:31could be a great race here. I I just was thinking on the way
- 4:33down this morning and there's just so many race tracks and I'm
- 4:36pretty sure this might have been why it kind of went away.
- 4:38There's there's so many race tracks within a pretty, you
- 4:41know, pretty close span, like maybe six or seven.
- 4:45You know, that so understandable at the time.
- 4:49I wanted to get to California or Vegas, you know, some of those
- 4:52tracks more. But yeah, I think this would be
- 4:54a a really good track for NASCAR and it's definitely gonna be
- 4:58good for trucks and it's finity this weekend.
- 5:00Matt Weaver sports not I would be remiss if we didn't have this
- 5:03press conference and not talk about your spring car season
- 5:05because this looks like a team that's capable of winning
- 5:08multiple races this year. So for one, how excited are you
- 5:12for the season and how important would winning that first 410
- 5:14race be for you it. Would be be good.
- 5:17It's been, you know, at a national level it hasn't
- 5:21happened and great, I've won a lot of at other levels.
- 5:24But yeah, I've said to do pretty much the last three years,
- 5:27that's what I've done. I've been racing a lot of Sprint
- 5:29car races and they've all been, 98% of them have been either
- 5:33World of Outlaws or High Limits. And that's, you know, so you're
- 5:36going to different tracks all over the country, different
- 5:39surfaces, you know, it all changes.
- 5:43And that's the hardest part about any type of racing, let
- 5:45alone Sprint cars. So I've chose to do that because
- 5:48it, to me that's the the toughest place to be.
- 5:52And I feel like we just keep getting better and getting
- 5:55closer and closer. This year.
- 5:56We've been close so far and still have a lot of races to go.
- 5:59We're going to race next week, next Saturday.
- 6:01I think we'll be our next night back.
- 6:03And then it gets very busy in May and June, July and August.
- 6:06So, yeah, we're really, really focused on that after this
- 6:11weekend and wanting to, yeah, start winning and running up
- 6:14front more often for sure is is our goal.
- 6:16And then I'm, I'm sure you're proud of your stock car career
- 6:19and what you've been able to do. But I'm curious, when you look
- 6:21at like what Kyle Larson is doing right now and being
- 6:23allowed to race whatever he wants.
- 6:25Do you ever think about how you and, and Tony Stewart and, and
- 6:29guys of that ilk, how much of their career they left on the
- 6:32table because they, you were not able to do what he's able to do,
- 6:36do now? Do you envy that a little bit?
- 6:38I mean, I do a little bit and I see it and he does a great job
- 6:41at it and he's the best at it. You know, he's he's so good at
- 6:44being able to just get into any type of car and and just be very
- 6:48fast right off the bat. That's that's hard to do.
- 6:51And and he's very good at it. So he's proved that it doesn't
- 6:55hurt him when he comes back here or goes there, wherever it may
- 6:58be. Yeah.
- 7:00So it's it's good that he gets to do that.
- 7:01When I when I did it, I did race more Sprint cars early on.
- 7:06And then when I went to Hendrick, I did the first year
- 7:08and then they wanted me to slow down.
- 7:10And so I just was like, OK, I'll just focus on NASCAR.
- 7:13And then I was like, just do NASCAR.
- 7:16And that's just kind of how that ended there.
- 7:18And I think it was all right. I think certain situations it's
- 7:21fine to do that in other situations, like what Kyle's
- 7:24doing is great too. So just kind of whatever works,
- 7:28you know, for you and your team and your sponsors, there's a lot
- 7:31of people involved. So yeah, just making sure it
- 7:34works for everybody. And if that's, I think it works
- 7:36for everybody, what Kyle has going on.
- 7:38So I like watching it. Christineketchens.com Welcome
- 7:40back, KC What's realistic tomorrow?
- 7:42Yeah. I don't know.
- 7:45I've like, for me, I want to race every lap.
- 7:48I want to be very competitive. You know, I I feel like to be
- 7:53out as long as I have and come back and just do everything
- 7:56perfect and and win would be very tough.
- 8:00These guys do it every weekend. They're very good at it and they
- 8:03put a lot of time into it year after year.
- 8:05So I think that'd be very tough to do.
- 8:07But I think we can be we can be very competitive around the top
- 8:11ten throughout the race and who knows what happens after that.
- 8:15We also have practice today to kind of see where we stack up.
- 8:18So yeah, I think it's it's pretty open, but I do want to
- 8:22just really enjoy this weekend, race hard, get every single
- 8:26thing I can out of the car and enjoy it with the team because
- 8:30these guys have put a a big effort in for me to come back to
- 8:34this. So I'm, you know, very lucky to
- 8:36have a such an opportunity that I do this weekend.
- 8:38I think we can. I think we can run really well.
- 8:41If the opportunity allow, would you consider doing other races?
- 8:45Yeah, I mean, I would I'm, I'm def this has been as kind of
- 8:49excited, happy I've been this whole year, whether it's Sprint
- 8:51car racing or pavement racing in a little while when it comes to
- 8:55racing. So I've been really looking
- 8:57forward to this race and I just really thought like just see how
- 9:02it goes, see if things click, if it makes sense, if I'd, you
- 9:06know, feel like I've been doing it for 15 years, then yeah.
- 9:11I mean, maybe we could get another one in later in the year
- 9:15if it's if it's difficult and I don't know, maybe 1 and done.
- 9:18So just have to pay attention to see how it goes and go from
- 9:21there is my thought. Zach.
- 9:22Sterniolanascar.com Casey, when did you start allowing yourself
- 9:26to get the kind of the the itch to go stock car racing again?
- 9:29I know listening to your interview on Dale Show, it took
- 9:33a minute to kind of just detach for for a bit.
- 9:35At what point did you kind of allow yourself back into the
- 9:38circle? Was that before or after the 75
- 9:40greatest drivers acknowledgement?
- 9:43Yeah, I would say definitely after, you know, I was, I was
- 9:46really happy with what I had going on and and not being, you
- 9:50know, too involved in the NASCAR deal and feels like once you get
- 9:53out, you know, or you I got out on my own.
- 9:56But as I did that, I did for my reasons.
- 9:58And it's like you're just kind of gone.
- 10:01Like it's not, you know, you still see people or talk to
- 10:03people once in a while and it feels good when you do run into
- 10:06somebody that you've seen at the track for so many years.
- 10:08But yeah, you're just kind of out.
- 10:10Like it keeps going and it goes just fine without you.
- 10:13So yeah, it's kind of like, all right, well, I'll just do my
- 10:16thing and and you find other things to do.
- 10:18And that's been good. But yeah, over the last probably
- 10:22year, I've been watching more and more and, yeah, wanting to
- 10:26kind of see what it was like again and get those feelings
- 10:28that I had for so many years. So that's why I put this
- 10:30together. You know, I did all this on my
- 10:33own to like get back here and, and do this race and was very
- 10:37fortunate to get, you know, hindered cars and caravan
- 10:40trailers, curb records behind behind me and, and then RCR
- 10:44wanted to to do it with us. So it's, it's been a really cool
- 10:48partnership, but we put some work in to make it happen.
- 10:50Yes. Stephen Stump for interest.com.
- 10:53Casey was coming so close to one of your first Cup race here and
- 10:57not being able to have a chance to try and win it again.
- 10:59Did Rockingham's removal No four kind of make it to where you
- 11:02just wanted to try and race anytime you could?
- 11:04Whatever is on the schedule here?
- 11:06Yeah, I, I mean, I think that was one race that has kept me
- 11:10very interested in Rockingham, you know, 'cause those cars had
- 11:14a lot of power then and the track was so slippery that that
- 11:17was a, you know, that was tough what was going on as the tires
- 11:20would wear out so quickly on the at that that particular race.
- 11:25So, yeah, I've always just enjoyed it since then.
- 11:27But my first race was here in 2002.
- 11:31I'm pretty sure it was my first Bush Series race at the time.
- 11:35And that was in the Channel Lock car.
- 11:37And from that point on, I thought this was and this and
- 11:40this is also the first place I ever tested in a stock car.
- 11:44And I've just yeah. So I've always really enjoyed it
- 11:47since that very first lap that I made here.
- 11:49And then with the repave. Did.
- 11:53Did. Driving this track again did
- 11:54almost feel like kind of starting over from scratch.
- 11:56Or was there still some parts of the old track that you could
- 11:59feel and get that hang up? Yeah, you could see it.
- 12:01You could feel it. A lot of the same
- 12:03characteristics as as far as the bumps and where they were and
- 12:07how the car moved around. It was just, it just seemed like
- 12:09the the pace was up around the entire racetrack, you know, less
- 12:13off throttle time, a lot more wide open throttle time.
- 12:16And but yeah, it still felt, actually, it still felt like
- 12:19Rockingham. Jared Hos with
- 12:21frenchstretch.com. KCB had success, like I said,
- 12:24with the Xfinity and Truck Series.
- 12:26Are there any other drivers in the Cup series that you think
- 12:29would be successful in this track?
- 12:31Who would be lens to watch if the Cup Series would run here?
- 12:35At this track. Yes, at Rockingham.
- 12:36Yeah, I think it would be a lot of lot of them.
- 12:39It'd be you just, it's hard to say, but I mean, I think it, I
- 12:46don't know, you just look kind of at who ran up front at
- 12:48Arlington. They'd all be really strong here
- 12:50or Bristol or really any of the tracks.
- 12:53Like they're just those guys are very good at what they do.
- 12:58So they would be very good here. So you know, right away,
- 13:00straight away it'd be it'd be good.
- 13:02And I think Cup Cars might put on a really good show here too.
- 13:06Be interested in how that would play out.
- 13:08But yeah, I think it this could be a pretty neat, neat place for
- 13:11that. What type of things do you want
- 13:13to see this weekend as far as A your health and B kind of the
- 13:18way the car feels that would determine whether you want to do
- 13:22this again? Yeah, I think the, to me, the
- 13:26biggest thing is just kind of feel in the car and how it
- 13:29works, you know, in traffic and, you know, at speed racing,
- 13:33qualifying, just the whole process, the whole weekend, you
- 13:37know, working with, you know, you have a spotter, you, you're
- 13:41on the radios a lot. Like a lot of things are
- 13:42different than than how they are with Sprint cars.
- 13:45So yeah, just kind of see how it all goes.
- 13:47But I feel like it's going to go pretty good.
- 13:49I've, I've done this a lot over the years.
- 13:51So yeah, just looking forward to that side of it.
- 13:54And as far as my health, I, you know, I don't, I'm in a good
- 13:59place right now, you know, because I don't do this all the
- 14:03time. I don't do the long races, the
- 14:05hot, you know, my, it got worse as soon as the summer months
- 14:08came. And then every week after that
- 14:10would just was draining me those last couple years I did it.
- 14:13So I think going into this is, it's good.
- 14:16I saw 88° and I'm like, oh, that's, that's nice.
- 14:18Like I'm looking forward to that.
- 14:19I'm fine with it. Other people called and were
- 14:22like, can you do it? Yeah, it's not, it's not that
- 14:24big of a deal. It'll be fun.
