- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop so Today I want to share
- 0:31with you a little bit of the information that I've had to
- 0:34deal with all week long because I was doing a sales training for
- 0:38a company that I contract with and one of the questions that
- 0:42the team kept bringing up to me, they do a lot of sales on the
- 0:45phone and one of the questions that was persistent was the
- 0:50feeling of not being able to create rapport with people, the
- 0:54feeling of being annoying. This overall feeling of
- 0:57Disconnect when they were going into this.
- 1:01And makes them feel very unnerved by the whole thing.
- 1:06They get very thrown off, is what they would say.
- 1:09Oh, we're constantly being thrown off.
- 1:12They found this to be really interesting because I think the
- 1:15shows up in all of our lives where we go into conversations,
- 1:20ill-prepared from the perspective of, who do we want
- 1:22to be in the conversation and that doesn't matter if it's with
- 1:26our kids or our husbands or our wives, our partners, Whatever it
- 1:31may be, we are ill prepared because we haven't chosen to
- 1:35say, who's the person that's going to be driving this bus?
- 1:38What's the emotion? That's going to be driving this
- 1:40bus while I have this conversation.
- 1:42What's the frame that I want to take while I'm engaging in this?
- 1:46And oftentimes what happens? Especially if you own your own
- 1:51business, you find that you are constantly in catch-up mode and
- 1:57that emotion is what's consistently driving And it's
- 2:01the same thing. These teams are behind the gun.
- 2:03They're trying to, you know, work towards something and their
- 2:08time frame is closing in on them and immediately.
- 2:12What does that mean? That means that Panic is driving
- 2:15their bus. That means that frustration is
- 2:16driving their bus. That means that judgment is
- 2:18driving their bus and that's what they're going into the
- 2:21calls with. So, there is next to no way that
- 2:24you're going to be able to influence somebody else if
- 2:28you're in a state like that. Because Energy passes back and
- 2:32forth and it doesn't matter if you're with a person.
- 2:34Remember words are only seven percent of communication so your
- 2:38energy, how you're showing up your tonality, your Cadence,
- 2:41everything about that. Makes it so that you're not
- 2:44coming across in a way that will allow those other people to be
- 2:49influenced. It's not that you can't
- 2:51influence and it's that you are not being allowed to influence
- 2:55them from the driver. You're showing up with like, why
- 2:58would anybody want to pay attention to you?
- 3:00If you don't sound influential because you don't have
- 3:04confidence in what you're talking about.
- 3:06I mean, you wouldn't keep coming back here and listening every
- 3:09day. If you felt like, I didn't know
- 3:11what I was talking about, but because I have confidence in
- 3:15myself and I show up every day as the coach who's recording
- 3:18these for you. You can understand and I come
- 3:22across in a Cadence and a manner and a tonality that allows you
- 3:25to be influenced. So it's a very interesting
- 3:30Dynamic, when you really start to think about it, how do you
- 3:33show up to begin this process? And one of the biggest things
- 3:37about, especially when you're doing it from a distance and
- 3:41you're on the phone, your voice conveys, everything, if you just
- 3:45have a flat tone or you know, and you're just High data and
- 3:50you're just monotone. We've all sat in class is
- 3:53growing up where the teacher was monotone and we just wanted to
- 3:57shoot ourselves because we were like, oh my God, what am I going
- 3:59to get out of this class? Class, or I will tell you, one
- 4:02of my biggest pet peeves, when I start working with clients, one
- 4:06of the very first things that I do.
- 4:08And if my clients are listening to this, I've checked on you.
- 4:12So trust me. If you haven't had me, say
- 4:13something to you about it. Yours is okay.
- 4:16But I will call and wait till I get their voicemail because I
- 4:19want to hear what your voicemail sounds like and I get
- 4:22flabbergasted by how many people who are in professions where
- 4:26they will have people call them for the first time to leave a
- 4:29message. And the voicemail fucks and it
- 4:33says something stupid. Like hi.
- 4:36I can't get to the phone right now.
- 4:38He leave me a number. I'll get back to you as soon as
- 4:41I can. I'm not leaving you a message,
- 4:43it's the same reason why when I call in for customer service to
- 4:47companies, if the person who answers the phone, sounds Bland,
- 4:52like a jackass. From the second, they answer the
- 4:54phone. I hang up and call back.
- 4:56I swear to you, I do it every single time.
- 4:58Did it just the other day? Because there's no.
- 5:00No way that I'm going to allow myself to get stuck with someone
- 5:03who doesn't have an energy. That feels like they're going to
- 5:06be able to help me just doesn't just doesn't work for me.
- 5:10So I will hang up the phone as strange.
- 5:12As that may sound. I go back through the loop again
- 5:14because I want someone that sounds committed to it and and I
- 5:18think that when your voicemail listen to your own voice mail,
- 5:21listen to it and see if it sounds like you would want to
- 5:24leave a message there. Do you sound happy on it?
- 5:27It's the best neutral indicator to say.
- 5:30Hey, this How we show up in my world?
- 5:32I mean, go listen to it. See what if you would leave you
- 5:36a message? Would you sound excited to leave
- 5:38you a message? You know my voicemail very
- 5:40specific it says hi you've reached Kim and this is my voice
- 5:44you know actually it says hi this is Kim and you've reached
- 5:46my voicemail. I'm sorry I can't take your call
- 5:48right now but if you'd like to leave me a happy message, I will
- 5:51be happy to return your call very specific and the story
- 5:56behind that is very funny because that voice mail came
- 5:59about because I I actually heard dr.
- 6:02Wayne Dyer, say that he said, leave happy messages and I will
- 6:05be happy to call you back, and I thought that was brilliant.
- 6:07Because my mother used to leave me depressing messages all the
- 6:10time. And when I change that voice
- 6:12mail, my mother actually said to me, I hate that voice mail and I
- 6:17said why and she goes because I want to tell you things that
- 6:19happened and they're not happy and now I can't leave them and I
- 6:22laughed and I said oh well maybe you'll have to find a happy way
- 6:25to tell me there are no happy ways to tell you things, okay?
- 6:30Well then We'll just have to wait till we talk, but at least
- 6:32I didn't get them in a message. So while that may seem funny to
- 6:37some of you, that's what you're projecting to the world.
- 6:39And I just want to make you aware of its your tone, your
- 6:42Cadence, the way you show up. So for the love of God, please
- 6:46go out, listen to your voicemail, see what it sounds
- 6:49like, pay attention to your tonality pay, attention to how
- 6:53you come across and pick the right driver to go into things
- 6:56with. Don't go into your house.
- 6:58At the end of the day was depleted, girl.
- 7:00Walking in the door and there's your family.
- 7:02Can't wait to see you and they all have questions for you and
- 7:04you're just like oh my God change the drivers change the
- 7:09drivers change the drivers pay attention.
- 7:12Okay guys I will see you tomorrow and I hope you have a
- 7:14very blessed day. Bye.
