- 0:00Chapter 31 from the book of Isaiah.
- 0:04Let's pray. Dear God, please let the Holy
- 0:07Spirit reveal to us, give us wisdom and understanding of what
- 0:11we are about to read today. We ask for this in Jesus name.
- 0:14Amen. Woe to those who rely on Egypt,
- 0:20woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on
- 0:24horses, who trust in the multitude of their Chariots and
- 0:28in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the
- 0:32Holy One of Israel or seek help from the Lord.
- 0:37So again, God wants to be the source, and this holds true back
- 0:41then and today that God wants to be our source, our refuge, the
- 0:46one we go to when we need, when we, you know, we need to look to
- 0:51him and he wants to be that source of strength for us.
- 0:55So when we feel weak, we go to the Lord.
- 0:58We don't try to rely on ourself or rely on somebody else.
- 1:03We go to God and God will provide a way.
- 1:08Yet he OK so or seek help from the Lord yet he too is wise and
- 1:15can bring disaster. He does not take back his words
- 1:21Now again I think this is about Jesus once again and it's
- 1:26written in the seven hundreds BC.
- 1:29So this as we read further, I'll show you that it's definitely
- 1:34about Jesus. But so I, I do believe this is
- 1:38another end time prophecy and it may have alerted the Israelites
- 1:44to a disaster that was coming upon them, but it wasn't the
- 1:47complete fulfillment. And you'll see why it wasn't the
- 1:50complete fulfillment when it happened back then.
- 1:53So this is but about a time that's yet to come but is
- 1:56prophesied. So it says yet, yet he yet he
- 2:01too is wise and can bring disaster.
- 2:06He does not take back his words. God doesn't take back his words.
- 2:10What what he says will happen. He will rise up against that
- 2:16wicked nation, against those who help evil doers.
- 2:20This is about Jesus rising up, but the Egyptians are mere
- 2:25mortals and not God. Their horses are flesh and not
- 2:30spirit. I thought that was interesting
- 2:33because just the prior chapter we were talking about how in the
- 2:37Book of Revelation and in some of the visions, I think it was
- 2:40Zechariah, maybe Ezekiel, to some of the visions that they
- 2:43had where there were horses in it.
- 2:45The horses are actually spirits. So we made that connection in
- 2:49these. Like symbolic.
- 2:51In the symbolic sense, these are actual spirits and going to and
- 2:55fro upon the earth. And so it's really interesting
- 2:58that it says their horses are flesh and not spirit.
- 3:02So there's like a clarification of the other ones in the Bible.
- 3:07Then the Lord, when when the Lord stretches out his hand,
- 3:12those who help will stumble, those who are helped will fall.
- 3:18All will perish together. So when judgement time comes,
- 3:23it's that's, you know, God's not going to take that back.
- 3:27It's going to happen. Those who help will fall.
- 3:31I mean, people, there may be some like kindness, they're
- 3:33going to try to help one another, but it's going to be a
- 3:37futile effort. They didn't rely on God.
- 3:39They rejected God. They heard about God and they
- 3:43they didn't ever go to him. They didn't ever turn to him.
- 3:46They didn't ever repent. And so when judgment time comes
- 3:50and that time comes when Jesus returns, when that time comes,
- 3:55all the people who haven't repented and repaired their
- 4:00friendship with God are going to perish together.
- 4:04It says it here and you know it also says the Lord does not take
- 4:08back His words. This is what the Lord says to me
- 4:12as a lion growls a great lion over its prey, and though a band
- 4:19of shepherds is called against it.
- 4:22So the shepherds are like religious leaders that take care
- 4:28of the sheep, the ones that God appointed to look over his
- 4:31sheep, his children, his people, like the Israelites and others.
- 4:37And it says, and though a whole band of shepherds is called
- 4:42together against it, like it'll, that shows us like, if we are
- 4:47not reconciled with God, if, if we're a leader, if, if this OK,
- 4:53if a leader of a church, say, or a synagogue, A rabbi, whoever is
- 4:58not reconciled with God. And then they, I mean, this is
- 5:05the way I'm reading into what I, I'm reading here.
- 5:09It's a whole band of shepherds. These are, these are God's
- 5:11people, God's leaders, shepherds, leaders of people.
- 5:15If they are called together against it, What if they're
- 5:20called together against it to play against it?
- 5:23Because we see a lot of that today where leaders of churches
- 5:28and things, they see disaster coming and they're praying
- 5:31against it. Like, don't let this happen,
- 5:33Lord. But what if it's God's will?
- 5:36All those prayers aren't going to matter if, if and when it's
- 5:40time for God's judgement. We're not going to be able to
- 5:43pray our way out of it if we haven't reconciled with God.
- 5:49It that's it. That's you know, there's,
- 5:51there's not, there's not changing that.
- 5:55So he's this is I'll read it again.
- 5:58This is what the Lord says to me as a lion growls a great lion
- 6:01over its prey. And though a whole band of
- 6:04shepherds is called together against it, it is not frightened
- 6:08by their shouts or disturbed by their clamor.
- 6:11So the Lord Almighty will come down to do battle on Mount Zion
- 6:18and on its heights, like birds hovering overhead.
- 6:23The Lord Almighty will shield Jerusalem.
- 6:27He will shield it and deliver it.
- 6:30He will in quotations Passover it and will rescue it.
- 6:39And that right there is absolutely about Jesus.
- 6:45And I will show you like when we'll search Mount Zion and
- 6:48you'll see how this is absolutely about Jesus.
- 6:50Then the other thing is there is a hint here and it's about
- 6:54Exodus. Exodus, it's it's referring to
- 6:58Jesus again, he will Passover, the whole celebration.
- 7:03I'm going to show you that. And Scripture is all about Jesus
- 7:06as well. Jesus rescuing people.
- 7:10So we will first let's search about Mount Zion and and I'll
- 7:16there's, oh gosh, there's 30 times in nine verses, but
- 7:24there's 8 exact phrases. So I'm just going to read the
- 7:28eight exact phrases. So Psalm 133, verse 3, it is as
- 7:34if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion, for there
- 7:41the Lord bestows His blessing, even life forevermore.
- 7:46So eternal life, that's where God's going to give eternal life
- 7:49to people. So then in Isaiah 818 it said,
- 7:55here am I and the children the Lord has given me.
- 7:58We are signs and symbols in Israel from the Lord Almighty
- 8:03who dwells on Mount Zion. That's where Isaiah was
- 8:06referring to himself, but he's saying the Lord Almighty dwells
- 8:10on Mount Zion. Isaiah chapter 24 says the moon
- 8:15will be dismayed, the sun ashamed, for the Lord Almighty
- 8:20will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem and before its elders
- 8:27with great glory. Well, that hasn't happened yet,
- 8:30but that is what Jesus is going to do when He returns.
- 8:34Then we have the verse in chapter 31 of Isaiah that we
- 8:38read that led us to Mount Zion. Then in the book of Joel chapter
- 8:432, verse 32, and everyone who calls on the name of the Lord
- 8:49will be saved for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be
- 8:56deliverance, as the Lord has said, even among the survivors
- 9:02whom the Lord calls. Now this I believe is after the.
- 9:08I mean maybe possibly during absolutely during the
- 9:12tribulation. So it's definitely during the
- 9:16tribulation. I would say probably before
- 9:20wrath occurs and so there's survivors out of the tribulation
- 9:25because the tribulation is going to be pretty bad.
- 9:28And I don't know at what point Jesus returns, but if he didn't
- 9:33return at all, everybody would be killed.
- 9:36So there's some, there's survivors that don't get killed
- 9:40before Jesus returns. So there will be living people.
- 9:44So even among the survivors of the, of the tribulation whom the
- 9:48Lord calls. So God is still going to be
- 9:51calling people to him during this time of trial, testing,
- 9:56tribulation, whatever you want to call it.
- 9:59But on Mount Zion there will. This is from Obadiah chapter one
- 10:04verse 17. But on Mount Zion will be
- 10:07deliverance, it will be holy, and Jacob will possess his
- 10:11inheritance. So this is when the land will
- 10:15actually go to Israel as God had originally said in Obadiah
- 10:21chapter one verse 21, it says deliverers will go up on Mount
- 10:26Zion to govern the mountains of Esau and the Kingdom will be the
- 10:33Lord's. Again, this is future for us.
- 10:38Then in the Book of Revelation it says then I looked and there
- 10:43before me was the Lamb. That's referring to Jesus
- 10:47standing on Mount Zion and with him, 144,000 who had his name
- 10:56and his Father's name written on their foreheads.
- 11:02Now that happens because in the Book of Revelation it says that
- 11:05angels go and seal 144,000 Jewish people 12,000 from each
- 11:13of the tribes except from the tribe of Dan, except from the
- 11:17tribe of Ephraim. And the angels actually hold
- 11:24back the winds of destruction until these people are sealed.
- 11:30So, and these are the people who have prepared themselves and
- 11:35it's from each of the tribes. So anyway that that's in the
- 11:40Book of Revelation and that will be coming.
- 11:42So we know that in this Isaiah where it says that he's going
- 11:47to, he's going to come down to do battle on Mount Zion and on
- 11:50its height and he will shield it and deliver it.
- 11:55He will Passover and he will rescue.
- 11:57So he's certainly rescuing the 144,000 who were sealed before
- 12:04sealed, which is that, you know, may be sealed with the anointing
- 12:07of the Holy Spirit perhaps because that's usually what, you
- 12:11know, Jesus said that no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless
- 12:14they are born of the Spirit. And that's usually something
- 12:18that an anointing that happens. So then I want to tell you about
- 12:25Passover passing over how because that's in quotation
- 12:28mark. So I think it's a good hint for
- 12:30us that this is hinting to Jesus once again.
- 12:34So let's go back to the book of Exodus chapter 12 and there's 2
- 12:39verses. The blood will be a sign for you
- 12:44on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood I will
- 12:49Passover you. No destructive plague will touch
- 12:54you when I strike Egypt. So that's in God was in control
- 12:59of that. God was sending warnings to
- 13:03Egypt to say let my people go. And this was how the Israelites
- 13:09were able to protect themselves by putting the blood on their
- 13:13doorpost, their door frame. And that was symbolic of they so
- 13:19they sacrificed a lamb and then Jesus is called the lamb in the
- 13:23book of Revelations. So it was.
- 13:25It was a foreshadowing of the of Jesus, Jesus death on the cross,
- 13:32his ultimate sacrifice. So back in the Old Testament,
- 13:36the Lamb sacrifice that protected the people by its
- 13:40blood is an analogy or a symbol to Jesus actually protecting all
- 13:48of us by his death on the cross, his blood that was shed on the
- 13:53cross. Because without blood, without
- 13:55the sacrifice, there is no forgiveness.
- 13:57We learned that from Hebrews, from the book of Hebrews.
- 14:01Then in Exodus verse 23, it says when the Lord goes through the
- 14:06land to strike down the Egyptians, this is from Exodus.
- 14:10He will see the blood on the top and the sides of the door frame
- 14:14and will Passover that doorway and He will not permit the
- 14:20destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.
- 14:25See, everything is under God's control.
- 14:28So He has a destroyer. He is sent out who has authority
- 14:33from him. And you know, the destroyer is
- 14:36also the one who rises up from the abyss in the Book of
- 14:39Revelation. So God uses evil things for his
- 14:43purpose. And if we are not reconciled
- 14:47with God, we are subject to judgement.
- 14:50We are subject to God's wrath. So that's why it's so important
- 14:55to reconcile with God. And then so Isaiah chapter 31,
- 15:02what we're that took us to this place says like birds hovering
- 15:06overhead, the Lord Almighty will shield Jerusalem.
- 15:09He will shield it and deliver it.
- 15:12He will Passover it and we'll rescue it.
- 15:16So this is this is a hint. This is like this is Jesus.
- 15:20And this is probably this may be it's, it's just coming to me
- 15:24right now. This may be when all of a sudden
- 15:27the Israelites realize, oh wow, the Passover and Exodus, this is
- 15:34him, this is the one and and then their eyes will be opened.
- 15:40So then continuing on in Scripture.
- 15:45I mean, there's I did do a search.
- 15:47Actually, we can talk about like the later part of the Bible,
- 15:52mostly the New Testament. There is Old Testament obviously
- 15:55where God says he will rescue, He will rescue, He will rescue.
- 15:59The New Testament talks a lot about Jesus being our rescuers.
- 16:06So I'm going to read those references.
- 16:11So first of all, people are mocking Jesus and in Matthew 27
- 16:17verse 43, this is when Jesus was on the cross and they said he
- 16:22trusts in God, let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he
- 16:27said I am the Son of God. So they were being very
- 16:31sarcastic and mocking him while he was hanging on the cross and
- 16:35they didn't realize that what he was doing was essentially in
- 16:39secret. It was planned, but he needed to
- 16:42die on the cross so that all of us would have the opportunity to
- 16:46be in the Kingdom of God. So that's why God didn't rescue
- 16:50Jesus on the cross. God prepared Jesus to do that on
- 16:56the cross. So why would he go against his
- 16:59own will? So that's the thing that the
- 17:03people either didn't know, they didn't seek him, they didn't
- 17:06listen to him. So all they are is mocking him,
- 17:08saying, oh, God would save him on the cross.
- 17:10Why didn't God save him? You know, if that's his only
- 17:12son, wouldn't you save your son off the cross?
- 17:15They're using human logic, but they have no idea of the law of
- 17:20sin and death, that if we sin, we are destined to death, but
- 17:26the only way there's forgiveness is by a death on the cross.
- 17:29And Jesus was the perfect human because because he was the Son
- 17:34of God, that's the only way he was perfect.
- 17:37And that's how he could be the sacrifice that made atonement
- 17:41for our sin, which gave us the possibility to be in God's
- 17:46Kingdom. So we have to acknowledge Jesus.
- 17:50We have to recognize him for what he did.
- 17:53We have to believe that. And we have to receive the Holy
- 17:56Spirit too. Because Jesus said that before
- 17:59he went on the cross, he told us in John chapter 3, you have to
- 18:02be born again, born of the Spirit.
- 18:04So we need the Holy Spirit. And Jesus said he would give the
- 18:07Holy Spirit when he left. He would give the Holy Spirit to
- 18:10be with people forever until to help people until his return.
- 18:16So we rely on the Holy Spirit of God and the Holy Spirit will
- 18:20come to us when we are sincere in our repentance and we are
- 18:23turning away from sin and we want God's help.
- 18:25We are relying on God's help. We aren't saying, OK, I'm just
- 18:28going to, I'm going to be strong and I'm going to do this myself.
- 18:32God doesn't want that. He realizes our flesh is weak,
- 18:36the Spirit is strong, our flesh is weak.
- 18:38So he wants us to say, God, I can't do this on my own, this is
- 18:43too hard. But with your spirit I can
- 18:46overcome this. Then we can overcome stuff.
- 18:50So OK, talking about rescuing Luke verse or chapter one verse
- 18:5574 to rescue us from the hand of our enemies and enable us to
- 19:01serve him without fear. That's what God does.
- 19:05He rescues us from enemies and enables us to serve Him without
- 19:09fear. Acts 725.
- 19:12Moses thought that his own people would realize that God
- 19:15was using him to rescue them, but they did not.
- 19:21So God can use other people to rescue as well, and Moses was an
- 19:25instrument. He was called by God to rescue
- 19:28the people out of slavery of Egypt in Acts chapter 26, verse
- 19:3417. I will rescue you from your own
- 19:38people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them.
- 19:44So I'm going to go back to see that what what that was, I don't
- 19:49know where that was. This was this.
- 19:54Oh, this is when, this is when Jesus appeared to Saul and it
- 19:58said. He was on his way back from
- 20:01Damascus and he said, we all fell to the ground.
- 20:03And I, this is Paul talking, heard a voice saying to me in
- 20:06Aramaic, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?
- 20:10It is hard for you. It is hard for you to kick
- 20:14against the goes. Then I said, Who are you, Lord?
- 20:19I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
- 20:22Persecuting. The Lord replied.
- 20:24Now get up and stand on your feet.
- 20:26I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as
- 20:31a witness of what you have seen and will see of me.
- 20:37I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles.
- 20:41I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from
- 20:47darkness to light and from the power of Satan.
- 20:52Satan holds the power of death until Jesus died on the cross
- 20:56and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive
- 21:01forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified
- 21:08by faith in Me. So sanctification happens by the
- 21:14Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit starts changing
- 21:16us and making us more like Jesus.
- 21:20Then Paul says in Romans Chapter 7 verse 21, what a wretched man
- 21:25I am who will rescue me from this body that is subject to
- 21:29death. That's Jesus.
- 21:31So he's kind of using that as a question, but there's more to it
- 21:35and it's about Jesus. In Galatians chapter one, verse
- 21:394, Paul says who gave himself the talking about Jesus, who
- 21:43gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil
- 21:51age according to the will of our God and Father.
- 21:58So again, the Son of God rescues us from evil and he's working in
- 22:05accordance to the will of God, just like he was on the cross or
- 22:09he he was praying before he was crucified and he prayed to God
- 22:13and said, if there's any other way, you know, to do this, you
- 22:19know, like, let me know. Like he was praying in
- 22:20desperation that said he was sweating blood but then he said
- 22:25but if not your will be done. That was complete surrender to
- 22:29the Father. Like I will go through with it.
- 22:32I know what's coming. If there's another way let me
- 22:35know. But no there wasn't.
- 22:37He had to do what he had to do. In second Timothy chapter 4
- 22:43verse 18, the Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and
- 22:49will bring me safely to His heavenly Kingdom, to Him be
- 22:55glory forever and ever. Amen.
- 22:58And second Peter chapter 2 verse 9, If this is so, then the Lord,
- 23:03then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and
- 23:09to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of
- 23:15judgment. So there is a different
- 23:19treatment of all the people on the earth.
- 23:22The ones who have been reconciled with God are going to
- 23:27be rescued. The ones who are rebellious to
- 23:30God and rejected Him, rejected the Son of God, are going to be
- 23:35subject to judgment. So again, this is Isaiah in 700
- 23:43BC warning people about this. So we'll continue on.
- 23:49We're almost finished with this chapter.
- 23:51I think it's going to be a little shorter than the prior
- 23:52ones. So return you Israelites to the
- 23:56one you have so greatly revolted against.
- 23:59For in that day, the return of the Lord day, everyone of you
- 24:05will reject the idols of silver and gold your sinful hands have
- 24:11made. Assyria will fall by no human
- 24:16sword. Listen to that.
- 24:18No human sword. Assyria, that is Turkey, Syria,
- 24:23Iraq, Iran, those that's the land that covered Assyria will
- 24:30fall by no human sword. So listen to this, a sword not
- 24:37of mortals will devour them. So this is Jesus.
- 24:43Jesus is going to deliver his people from Turkey, Syria, Iraq,
- 24:52Iran. I don't know if all of them, but
- 24:54somebody, or maybe all of them, I don't know, will band together
- 25:00in an alliance and God is going to rescue.
- 25:04Jesus, will rescue the Son of God, will rescue his people.
- 25:09This is talking about Assyria. They will flee before the sword
- 25:13and their young men will be will be put to forced labor.
- 25:18Their stronghold will fall because of terror at the site of
- 25:26the battle standard. Their commanders will panic when
- 25:32the true God shows up. People will panic.
- 25:35It definitely says that in the Book of Revelation as well,
- 25:39declares the Lord, whose fire is in Zion and whose furnace is in
- 25:45Jerusalem. So the burning lake of fire,
- 25:50that's where people who haven't reconciled themselves with God
- 25:54go at judgement time when Jesus returns is judgement time, for
- 26:01it's a separation of people who have repented and people who
- 26:07have not repented. That's what's happening.
- 26:10That's the first judgment. There is also a second judgment
- 26:15that happens at the end of the 1000 years, and that is when all
- 26:20the dead people who rejected God will rise when Jesus returns.
- 26:27The people who had reconciled with God, who had repented, or
- 26:32you know God has shown mercy to them and they are children of
- 26:35God, they will rise when Jesus returns.
- 26:39So the dead who are in Christ will rise when he returns.
- 26:43But the dead who were not in Christ are not going to come to
- 26:47life until after the 1000 years. The ones who rise in the first
- 26:54resurrection at when Jesus returns, they are not subject to
- 27:00the judgement that comes after the 1000 years and that thousand
- 27:06years. That's like considered the
- 27:07second death. So they died once on earth, but
- 27:11then they are going to be sent to I believe it's the burning
- 27:17like a sulfur they will be it says they will be torn.
- 27:20I know the Satan and the false prophet are going to be
- 27:24tormented forever and ever. I don't, I, I think all the
- 27:29other people who rejected God are also going to that same
- 27:32place and they will be separated from God forever.
- 27:36So that's when final judgement happens.
- 27:38And anyway this Assyria will fall by no human sword, but
- 27:43they'll fall by the sword of Jesus.
- 27:45Now Jesus, the Son of God in Revelation, it talks about the
- 27:49sword of his mouth and remember what he said.
- 27:53He does not take back his words. So I looked up mouth and sword
- 27:59and here's 3 verses that talk about this.
- 28:04So in Isaiah chapter 49, he made my mouth like a sharpened sword
- 28:11in the shadow of his hand. He hid me.
- 28:14He made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.
- 28:19We haven't gotten to that chapter yet and I didn't really
- 28:22read that it's, but it's about the servant of the Lord.
- 28:25And I, I believe that that is about Isaiah and I, I believe
- 28:35because Isaiah, he said he, he made my mouth sharp like a
- 28:40sharpened sword. So it's the words of God, the
- 28:43words that are in Scripture that are the sharpened sword.
- 28:47The things that God said are the things that you know, we we, I
- 28:54mean, that's going to be the sword that comes against us in
- 28:57judgement time. And then Isaiah was in the
- 29:00shadow of his hand like God in the shadow of his hand.
- 29:03He hid me. So God provides A covering for
- 29:06the people he uses and he made Isaiah into a polished arrow so
- 29:12and concealed me in his quiver. So he the things that come out
- 29:15of his mouth are piercing to people.
- 29:18They don't want to hear it. They were telling Isaiah don't
- 29:20talk about this stuff anymore. You know, give us something our
- 29:23ears want to hear. You know, we don't like that.
- 29:26There were other prophets that said I don't call on that
- 29:30prophet anymore because all he does is say bad things about me.
- 29:33So they don't want to hear it. Only if it's good do they want
- 29:35to hear it. But Isaiah was called by God to
- 29:39call people back to repentance. So in the Book of Revelation,
- 29:43this is where the sword, the double edged sword and Jesus tie
- 29:48into it. So Revelation one verse 16 in
- 29:52his right hand, this is when John sees Jesus and in his right
- 29:57hand he held seven stars and coming out of his mouth was a
- 30:04sharp double edged sword. His face was like the sun
- 30:10shining in all its brilliance. So these are this is symbology,
- 30:15but it's, you know, again talking about the sword coming
- 30:18out of his mouth. And then in the end, in
- 30:21Revelation chapter 19 verse 15, this is talking about Jesus
- 30:25again coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to
- 30:31strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron
- 30:36scepter. He treads the winepress of the
- 30:40fury of the wrath of God Almighty.
- 30:44So Jesus is going to bring wrath upon people.
- 30:50He is going, He has the authority of it.
- 30:52He's going to make it happen just like the Bible said.
- 30:55And coming out of his mouth is that sharp sword to strike down
- 30:59the nation's. So this again, like I said at
- 31:02the beginning, this is Jesus once again in chapter 31.
- 31:06So I will read the questions and answers and then we will
- 31:09conclude this chapter. What was what was wrong with
- 31:14recruiting, recruiting Egyptian support?
- 31:16The problem was that the leaders of Judah hadn't consulted God.
- 31:19God alone was to be their source of security, but the people
- 31:22wanted a backup plan just in case something went wrong or God
- 31:26didn't come through. So, so to hedge their bet, they
- 31:29made a treaty with Egypt. Is it wrong to have a strong
- 31:33National Defense? Ancient Israel had repeatedly
- 31:37been told by God not to trust in its own military strength or in
- 31:42the military might of other nations such as Egypt.
- 31:46There gets a lot of references and Deuteronomy and Psalms and
- 31:49Hosea. God wanted to show them His love
- 31:54by protecting them so that they would understand that their
- 31:58salvation was in Him alone, not in any army or alliance.
- 32:05In modern times, no single nation represents God's people.
- 32:10God's people were scattered everywhere.
- 32:12Rather, His people make up the church, the great assembly of
- 32:17all who follow Christ, the church, meaning people who
- 32:24follow Christ, who are taught by Christ and live like Christ, you
- 32:30know, agree with God and and want to live like Christ.
- 32:33The church should not depend on a military force any more than
- 32:38ancient Israel was supposed to. So that's interesting for all
- 32:42our, all our Christian people is that we don't need to be all
- 32:46concerned about our military and everything.
- 32:48We just, all we need, not all, I mean everything we need is God.
- 32:52And, and we don't have anything to fear because if we are
- 32:55reconciled with God, God's going to take care of it.
- 32:59Don't worry, no worries, No Fear.
- 33:01And that's what God would say all the time.
- 33:02Have courage, No Fear. The Spirit, the Holy Spirit
- 33:06gives courage. Could Judah rely on God and
- 33:10still suffer defeat? No.
- 33:13If they had truly trusted in God and obediently carried out His
- 33:17covenant demands, they would have been spared.
- 33:21However, because they did not, they discovered that God can
- 33:26bring disaster. So again, sin has consequences.
- 33:30God doesn't like it. He tries to warn us, but when we
- 33:34step outside of what he says, don't do this, it's going to
- 33:39have consequences. And then we have to bear those
- 33:42consequences. And those consequences are not
- 33:44necessarily punishment from God. They're just the reality of us
- 33:48having to, you know, us having sinned and then having that
- 33:53effect on our lives. So why did God judge the
- 33:57Assyrians? Punishment of the Assyrians is a
- 34:01common theme in Isaiah even though God used the Assyrians to
- 34:05accomplish his purposes, God detested their pride and their
- 34:11vicious treatment of their victims.
- 34:14How did God judge the assyrians? The sword not of mortals
- 34:19suggests supernatural judgment. In fact, the Angel of the Lord
- 34:22put to death 185,000 assyrian soldiers.
- 34:27The Assyrian stronghold could refer to King St.
- 34:31Cherub, but probably refers to the capital city of Nineveh
- 34:36that's in modern day Iraq, which was was destroyed by the Medes
- 34:40that's around today and Babylonians in 612 BC.
- 34:49What sort of furnace was in Jerusalem?
- 34:51This may refer to the fire that burned continually on the altar
- 34:55in the temple courtyard in Jerusalem.
- 34:57Some believe Isaiah used the image of a furnace to symbolize
- 35:01God's wrath against his enemies. Others believe it symbolizes
- 35:04God's glory. And I shared with you my
- 35:07thoughts on it. And that is the end of chapter
- 35:1331. So hope you come back for
- 35:16chapter 32 next time, subscribe, share this if it was meaningful
- 35:21to you, if it helped you in any way, because that's what these
- 35:23are all about to bring us closer to God.
