- 0:00Speaker 1: The non sports end of sports. It's one more thing.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm strong and getty one more thing. We got a
- 0:11Speaker 1: couple of sports things that aren't really about the play
- 0:14Speaker 1: on the field really so much. So this first one
- 0:17Speaker 1: is an actual game. It's a Houston Rockets at the
- 0:19Speaker 1: LA Clippers, and there's some sort of chicken promotion going
- 0:23Speaker 1: on where if people miss free throws, everybody gets chicken
- 0:26Speaker 1: or something. Yeah, it's a fourth quarter.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I've seen it a couple of times. If the opponent
- 0:32Speaker 2: misses two free throws in a row, everybody gets, you know,
- 0:34Speaker 2: free tacos, free chicken, whatever.
- 0:36Speaker 1: So since you can't see it, so the guy for
- 0:39Speaker 1: the Houston Rockets again, he's on the road, he's at
- 0:41Speaker 1: the Clippers game, and he gives the opposing team's crowd
- 0:45Speaker 1: some free chicken. He misses the free throws on purpose,
- 0:47Speaker 1: I guess. So anyway, this is what it sounded like.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Beasts of free chicken on the board if he misses
- 0:52Speaker 1: the second free throw, man free scheeper on the board.
- 0:54Speaker 1: So I's why the fans are getting a little real
- 0:57Speaker 1: flothy the crowds. You want chicken, here's your chu. He's
- 1:06Speaker 1: a man of the people, he's a man of the
- 1:09Speaker 1: pre perfect he did. He came off pret chicken. That
- 1:13Speaker 1: is I heard less excited they won.
- 1:16Speaker 2: They won.
- 1:17Speaker 1: That was so awesome. I like the player did it.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Way the announcers handled it is that the Clippers home announcers,
- 1:24Speaker 1: they got good announcers. That was awesome.
- 1:26Speaker 3: I love it when they make non sports moments the highlights.
- 1:30Speaker 3: It's like when that that fan broke onto the field
- 1:32Speaker 3: during the Niners guy game.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Guy is drunk.
- 1:35Speaker 2: There he goes, Kevin Harlan, the legendary call. Yeah, what
- 1:39Speaker 2: about the sanctity of the game. Jack intentionally missing a
- 1:42Speaker 2: free throw? I don't approve.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I'm surprised there hasn't been somebody. I mean, because there's
- 1:46Speaker 1: a betting line on every game, and missing a shot
- 1:51Speaker 1: on purpose, I don't know if that affected anything. Because
- 1:55Speaker 1: he's a man of the people. He gave him chicken.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I tell you what the Clippers fan base is going
- 2:02Speaker 2: to be, you know, campaigning to get this guy traded
- 2:04Speaker 2: to LA.
- 2:06Speaker 1: So I just gone Marjanovitch. I just looked up at
- 2:09Speaker 1: the TV and they're still doing a little OJ coverage
- 2:13Speaker 1: several days after he died. I wasn't here on Friday
- 2:15Speaker 1: because I was sick, so I didn't get to talk
- 2:17Speaker 1: about this much. The one question I had is we'll
- 2:22Speaker 1: never know whether he knew he killed those people or not.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I've always wondered it was he crazy or just a
- 2:28Speaker 1: really skilled wire. Michael, where are you on that? I
- 2:31Speaker 1: agree with Joe.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I think he snapped.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I think he did it, and I think he had
- 2:35Speaker 4: a psychological break.
- 2:36Speaker 1: At what point did he snap If he ran and
- 2:38Speaker 1: was sitting there with a gun to his head when
- 2:41Speaker 1: he found out they were going to arrest him, you know,
- 2:44Speaker 1: if you didn't think you did it.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I wish we had like a clinical psychologist to talk
- 2:49Speaker 2: to about that, because it could be that he had
- 2:52Speaker 2: what they call a psychic break, a complete breakdown, and
- 2:57Speaker 2: his brain wasn't working at all.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I got to jump in the last time I said that,
- 3:01Speaker 1: we got a text from somebody who said, it's a
- 3:03Speaker 1: psychotic break. A psychic break is when your local psychic
- 3:06Speaker 1: goes up behind and has a smoke between doing palm reading.
- 3:11Speaker 1: That's one of my favorite texts of all time.
- 3:13Speaker 2: You're quite right, thank you for the correction.
- 3:16Speaker 1: A psychotic break.
- 3:19Speaker 2: But in the midst of the crumbling of his not
- 3:23Speaker 2: terribly sharp mind, anyway. Could it have included a gun
- 3:27Speaker 2: and a beard and money and just bizarre behavior of
- 3:30Speaker 2: various sorts. Yeah, I don't.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It's like we've said many times, trying.
- 3:35Speaker 2: To put a a logical explanation to insanity is a
- 3:40Speaker 2: difficult thing.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Hanson, where are you in this? Did he know he
- 3:43Speaker 1: killed those people? Or did he convince himself he didn't?
- 3:49Speaker 1: He says it's a tough one. Yeah, pick one. Anybody
- 3:53Speaker 1: can say it's a tough one. He knew. Hanson says
- 3:55Speaker 1: he knew.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Well, yeah, he knew until his mind broke. That's mine
- 4:01Speaker 2: point of view.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Could it be kind of like an Aaron Rodgers situation
- 4:05Speaker 3: where it was that CTE from getting hit while he
- 4:08Speaker 3: was playing and that caused him to snap?
- 4:10Speaker 1: You think that's funny. I don't think anybody ever brought
- 4:13Speaker 1: up CTE with OJ, did they?
- 4:15Speaker 3: Well, that was just the things that was going around.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Why they wanted to examine his brain all right, right, right.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Right instead of just having it cremated. But yeah, don't,
- 4:24Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Oh, here's Hanson's theory, our executive producer that OJ that
- 4:29Speaker 1: night was coked out of his gourd and just kind
- 4:31Speaker 1: of it's all, you know, it might not be really
- 4:33Speaker 1: clear to him even if he didn't.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Boy, And if you are completely unable to accept something
- 4:40Speaker 2: you have done, which I've not been in that position,
- 4:43Speaker 2: I've heard it exists and you are wasted, so your
- 4:47Speaker 2: whole recollection of it is very murky. I can absolutely
- 4:53Speaker 2: sure see how you'd get to the point where you
- 4:55Speaker 2: would think, no, I didn't do that. I couldn't do that,
- 4:57Speaker 2: but possible never do.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, the human mind sometimes ignores trauma is just a
- 5:02Speaker 1: self protection thing, like to keep you alive. You couldn't
- 5:05Speaker 1: you couldn't live otherwise. I won't use examples i've heard of,
- 5:08Speaker 1: but yeah, maybe his brain was just protecting him from you.
- 5:13Speaker 1: You can't survive dealing with this, so we're just gonna
- 5:18Speaker 1: push it out of your head. Ah. The town I
- 5:23Speaker 1: live in has a psychic and I've lived in that
- 5:25Speaker 1: same town now for twenty some years. And it's a
- 5:27Speaker 1: tiny little shack and it says I've never been in there,
- 5:30Speaker 1: and it says psychic on it, and it's always open,
- 5:32Speaker 1: and I don't know what the taking a psychic break,
- 5:35Speaker 1: going out for a smoke or whatever, but I don't know.
- 5:36Speaker 2: It's a funny joke is that the one you can
- 5:38Speaker 2: kind of see from the interstate.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I don't know if you can can or not, but anyway,
- 5:42Speaker 1: I've just I've always still in business, like must be
- 5:44Speaker 1: a profitable business.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I just read something over the weekend where somebody was
- 5:50Speaker 2: talking quite seriously about how a fortune teller had told
- 5:53Speaker 2: them something and now they realize, oh, that's what they meant.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Katie, when you were doing morning radio or whatever, did
- 5:59Speaker 1: you ever have a psychic on We did a couple
- 6:02Speaker 1: of times. Yeah, and we did too, and we stopped
- 6:04Speaker 1: doing it because we realized it was just taking advantage
- 6:06Speaker 1: of sad people. That is where I have a really
- 6:09Speaker 1: big issue.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Someone very very close to me lost someone and went
- 6:13Speaker 3: to a psychic and recorded it and let me listen back.
- 6:16Speaker 3: And I was infuriated by the end of it.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Because it was just bait.
- 6:19Speaker 5: It was baiting the entire time. Oh right, and then
- 6:22Speaker 5: there's just a lot of your your mom. Your mom
- 6:25Speaker 5: is talking right now, and she and she just wants
- 6:28Speaker 5: you to know that she loves you and she's sorry
- 6:30Speaker 5: for some of the things she did. She knows she
- 6:31Speaker 5: disappointed you, but she's sorry for those things. But she's happy,
- 6:35Speaker 5: you know.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Just normal. Yeah, stop, And it's just horrible to play
- 6:38Speaker 1: on people's emotions like that.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Yes, no, I am not cool with that profession. I mean,
- 6:44Speaker 3: to each their own, but I don't like that at all.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, all right, Ah, so back to OJ hacking
- 6:53Speaker 2: people up, which is more pleasant? Fair? Just a couple
- 6:56Speaker 2: of more details of the aftermath. Let's run clip number
- 6:59Speaker 2: twenty five, Michael, I think it's self explanatory.
- 7:03Speaker 4: The executor of OJ Simpson's estate is vowing to fight
- 7:06Speaker 4: any effort by Ron Goldman's family to collect money from
- 7:08Speaker 4: their wrongful death judgment. Simpsons, who died Wednesday, was acquitted
- 7:12Speaker 4: in a criminal trial and the murders of Goldman and
- 7:15Speaker 4: Simpson's ex wife, Nicole, but he was found liable in
- 7:18Speaker 4: civil court in order to pay more than thirty three
- 7:20Speaker 4: million dollars to the families.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Well, I'm sure they're going to fight it, but I
- 7:24Speaker 2: don't know how they can, right, I don't know enough
- 7:29Speaker 2: about that area of the law. Disgusting, all right, And
- 7:33Speaker 2: speaking of disgusting, I'm sorry you get more on that.
- 7:37Speaker 1: What did I have on Ojay? One more thing? Oh
- 7:39Speaker 1: so I may have forgotten this too. He grew up
- 7:43Speaker 1: in San Francisco, which is why he ended up with
- 7:47Speaker 1: the forty nine ers there at the end of his career.
- 7:49Speaker 1: But he grew up in San Francisco in a really
- 7:51Speaker 1: bad neighborhood and was arrested multiple times before he went
- 7:54Speaker 1: off to college at USC. I had forgotten that.
- 7:57Speaker 6: Now.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I didn't look into what he was arrested for. Do
- 7:59Speaker 1: you know that. I don't know if it was just
- 8:01Speaker 1: the sort of stuff that you get arrested for if
- 8:02Speaker 1: you live in a bad neighborhood and doesn't mean anything,
- 8:05Speaker 1: or if he did have some you know, violent tendencies
- 8:08Speaker 1: that were clear.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Do you have anything on that, Katie. I remember learning
- 8:13Speaker 2: that at the time, but I haven't thought about it
- 8:15Speaker 2: for years.
- 8:15Speaker 1: You know. And some of the violent stuff that it
- 8:18Speaker 1: was known we later found out that he did with
- 8:20Speaker 1: Nicole and probably other women throughout his life. In the
- 8:23Speaker 1: modern era, he wouldn't have been able to hide that.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I don't think I think that.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yeah, he's absolutely a wife beater.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'm saying.
- 8:30Speaker 3: He joined a street gang called the Persian Warriors and
- 8:34Speaker 3: was briefly incarcerated at San Francisco Youth Guidance Center for
- 8:37Speaker 3: gang related incidents.
- 8:39Speaker 1: That's all I see that can happen in any troubled neighborhood.
- 8:41Speaker 1: That doesn't necessarily predict you're going to be a double behead.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Or Persian warriors. So he was soft on Iran as well.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Exactly interesting, never ending, Speaking of horrific politics, this is
- 8:52Speaker 2: one Ashley Allison whose act I don't know. She was
- 8:56Speaker 2: on CNN twenty six, Michael.
- 8:58Speaker 6: But it was so racial charged because of what had
- 9:01Speaker 6: happened just before with Rodney King, but also just how
- 9:05Speaker 6: Black Americans feel about policing. It's not like OJ Simpson
- 9:09Speaker 6: was the leader of the civil rights movement of his error.
- 9:12Speaker 6: You know, he wasn't a social justice leader, but he
- 9:16Speaker 6: represented something for the black community in that moment in
- 9:19Speaker 6: that trial, particularly because there were two white people who
- 9:22Speaker 6: had been killed, and the history around how black people
- 9:26Speaker 6: have been persecuted during slavery. There was just so many layers.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Okay, I was with you, Alfa told that last sentence, Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 9:35Speaker 2: The people of black people really related to him because
- 9:38Speaker 2: he killed white people because of slavery. He represented something
- 9:42Speaker 2: because he killed whitey whoa. Yeah, that actually aired on CNN.
- 9:47Speaker 2: K imagine and.
- 9:49Speaker 1: He close to the opposite. Yeah, oh, boy man. Nobody
- 9:53Speaker 1: called her on it. I watched it. No, that's outrageous.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I mean the idea that a black, mostly black jury said,
- 10:00Speaker 1: you've been screwing us as long as I've lived in
- 10:03Speaker 1: la fe you and acquitted him. I perfectly get, and
- 10:08Speaker 1: I might have done the same thing. But the glad
- 10:11Speaker 1: he killed white people because of slavery. Nah, eh nah,
- 10:15Speaker 1: I ain't sick. That's a DT.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I critical race theory racist.
- 10:19Speaker 1: She's awful. I had completely forgotten because Joe and I
- 10:22Speaker 1: did a really big live event the day of the
- 10:25Speaker 1: verdict with hundreds of people in a room. But I
- 10:28Speaker 1: had completely forgotten that Oprah did that and the difference
- 10:32Speaker 1: in reaction between the white people and the crowd and
- 10:34Speaker 1: the black people in the crowd until I watched that
- 10:36Speaker 1: on Friday. That was uncomfortable. Yeah, yeah, no, kidding, sh Well,
- 10:43Speaker 1: I guess that's it.
