- 0:32Speaker 2: at wbcbsports dot com. We are broadcasting live from the
- 0:37Speaker 2: glorious Chickies and Peats in Warrington. And look the Detroit Lions.
- 0:43Speaker 2: They did the Eagles a solid on Sunday they beat
- 0:45Speaker 2: the Chicago Bears. Unfortunately for the Eagles, they weren't able
- 0:48Speaker 2: to hold up their end of the bargain. They fall
- 0:50Speaker 2: to the Washington Commanders twenty four to seventeen. We'll start
- 0:54Speaker 2: to break a little bit of that down, but we're
- 0:55Speaker 2: going to primarily focus on the Eagles and the forty
- 0:59Speaker 2: nine ers. I'm Andrew Dechecko, Eagles beat reporter from Inside
- 1:02Speaker 2: the Birds dot com and joining me today. My buddy,
- 1:05Speaker 2: my good friend. He's been covering the Eagles full time
- 1:08Speaker 2: for fifteen years. You know him from reading his stuff
- 1:10Speaker 2: on Eagles on Sports Illustrated. That would be the great
- 1:13Speaker 2: headcratz ed what's happening today?
- 1:15Speaker 3: Ed's and thanks for that introduction, Andrew. I don't know
- 1:18Speaker 3: how great I am, but I'll take the compliment. I'm
- 1:21Speaker 3: doing great. Happy new year out there to everybody. Let's go,
- 1:24Speaker 3: let's get this playoff game going Sunday at four thirty, right.
- 1:27Speaker 4: That's right.
- 1:28Speaker 2: So the Eagles secure the number three seed and they
- 1:31Speaker 2: will be facing the San Francisco forty nine ers Sunday
- 1:33Speaker 2: at Lincoln Financial Field at four point thirty. Should be
- 1:36Speaker 2: a phenomenal matchup and we're gonna get into plenty of that, Ed.
- 1:39Speaker 2: But first of all, there's been so much discourse over
- 1:43Speaker 2: really last week and after the game about the Eagles
- 1:46Speaker 2: decision to rest the starters. Now, I was of the
- 1:49Speaker 2: belief that that was the right decision. I maintain that
- 1:52Speaker 2: he can't argue with the result. I mean, you're always
- 1:54Speaker 2: going to look back and maybe have an issue with
- 1:56Speaker 2: the results, but this is an Eagles team that has
- 1:59Speaker 2: been really banged up all season long, and you look
- 2:01Speaker 2: at it and you could take you could zoom out
- 2:03Speaker 2: for a moment and say they're really healthy because outside
- 2:07Speaker 2: of safety Drew mccooba. All of their starters are available.
- 2:10Speaker 2: But to that, I would say, just because a player
- 2:12Speaker 2: isn't listed on the injury report doesn't mean that they
- 2:14Speaker 2: aren't dealing with something to some extent. I look at
- 2:17Speaker 2: the offensive line, Jordan Malatta, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Lane
- 2:21Speaker 2: Johnson has been dealing with the foot injury since the
- 2:23Speaker 2: Lions game. On the defensive side, Jalen Phillips missed the
- 2:27Speaker 2: game with an anko injury, Nikobe Dean missed the game
- 2:30Speaker 2: with the hamstring injury, Marcus Epps had the concussion he
- 2:34Speaker 2: didn't play. Jalen Carter did not play in that game
- 2:36Speaker 2: with the hip injury. So I believe that, yes, it
- 2:39Speaker 2: was just one week, but that built in bye week
- 2:41Speaker 2: I think really will serve the Eagles.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Well, well, I'm surprised I agree with you there, because
- 2:46Speaker 3: it seems like a lot of people really thought the
- 2:48Speaker 3: Eagles should have been full steam ahead for that two seed.
- 2:51Speaker 3: But you have to remember that this is a marathon season.
- 2:55Speaker 3: The Eagles started this season I think it was July
- 2:57Speaker 3: twenty third with their first training KI practice, and here
- 3:01Speaker 3: we are five months in and they came in, by
- 3:05Speaker 3: the way, on a short off season after playing through
- 3:08Speaker 3: early February in the Super Bowl. There was off season
- 3:11Speaker 3: surgeries for landing for Cam Jurgens. This was a banged
- 3:14Speaker 3: up team coming into the season and it really never
- 3:17Speaker 3: got fully healthy. I remember after the Washington game when
- 3:22Speaker 3: they beat the Commanders late in the season and Jordan
- 3:25Speaker 3: Malatta saying afterwards that, yeah, they could use the rest.
- 3:29Speaker 3: That is a banged up line, and a lot is
- 3:31Speaker 3: one of those guys that has played every game this year,
- 3:33Speaker 3: him and Tyler Steen, and I was kind of surprised
- 3:37Speaker 3: to hear him admit that. And then when you talk
- 3:39Speaker 3: to players coming out of the Buffalo game during that week,
- 3:43Speaker 3: they all seemed to say, you know, rest would benefit them,
- 3:46Speaker 3: and you know, you couldn't control the fact that Detroit
- 3:49Speaker 3: was going to beat the Bears, right, and even Nick
- 3:52Speaker 3: Sirianni alluded to that. So being able to rest their
- 3:56Speaker 3: starters going into what is now the second season and
- 3:59Speaker 3: if you're winning, you're going to be playing for another month.
- 4:02Speaker 3: I think that rest will benefit them immensely. I really do,
- 4:06Speaker 3: and I think it was the right call.
- 4:08Speaker 2: So let's get into quarterback Tanner McKee because There was
- 4:11Speaker 2: a lot of intrigue at going into this week about
- 4:14Speaker 2: how Tanner McKee would perform, especially in a high leverage
- 4:18Speaker 2: situation where there was a lot at stake there for
- 4:20Speaker 2: the Eagles. He completed twenty one of forty passes, and
- 4:25Speaker 2: there were moments earlier in that game where I thought
- 4:27Speaker 2: he did a nice job of moving the offense, keeping
- 4:30Speaker 2: it on schedule.
- 4:30Speaker 4: He threw within rhythm.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I don't think it was any coincidence that his best
- 4:34Speaker 2: moments happened when DeVante Smith was on the field.
- 4:36Speaker 4: But what did you make of his performance?
- 4:38Speaker 2: Because I thought later in that game they asked an
- 4:40Speaker 2: awful lot out of him, rather than maybe just hand
- 4:43Speaker 2: the ball off to Tank Bigsby, who was seeing some
- 4:46Speaker 2: production there in the running game, and even Will Shipley
- 4:48Speaker 2: who just had one carry in the game. I thought
- 4:50Speaker 2: that they put a lot on the shoulders of Tanner McKee.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a good point that he did look pretty
- 4:55Speaker 3: good when DeVante was in there. You know, he was
- 4:57Speaker 3: playing with a bunch of backups, let's face it, but
- 5:00Speaker 3: Bigsby was having a very productive game, averaging close to
- 5:04Speaker 3: five yards of carry sixteen carries. But they put it
- 5:07Speaker 3: all on McKee's shoulders. From early in the third quarter
- 5:10Speaker 3: through the fourth quarter, McKee threw fourteen straight passes. Bigsby
- 5:14Speaker 3: pad a thirteen yard run with about two minutes to
- 5:16Speaker 3: go in the third quarter and never saw the ball again,
- 5:19Speaker 3: and the game was tied at that point. Now, I
- 5:21Speaker 3: know they fell behind it late in the fourth quarter.
- 5:24Speaker 3: They were down twenty four to seventeen with about two
- 5:26Speaker 3: and a half to go, So yeah, okay, you gotta throw.
- 5:28Speaker 3: But look, Bigsby was picking up some chunks and that
- 5:31Speaker 3: might have helped keep that Commander's defense off balance. So
- 5:34Speaker 3: that's been a concern to me Andrew all year. Is
- 5:37Speaker 3: the way Kevin Petullo has called these games. He seems
- 5:40Speaker 3: to abandon the run too quickly, and I thought he
- 5:43Speaker 3: did it again on Sunday against the Commanders. But as
- 5:45Speaker 3: far as McKee goes, you know, I thought he looked
- 5:48Speaker 3: like a backup playing with backups.
- 5:50Speaker 5: You know, I was impressed with some of the throws
- 5:52Speaker 5: he made, but his decision making.
- 5:54Speaker 3: You know, there was a second one play where he
- 5:57Speaker 3: had about five yards of grass in front of him.
- 5:59Speaker 3: He could have ran run the ball to pick up
- 6:01Speaker 3: the first down. Instead he threw it pass gets broken
- 6:04Speaker 3: up third and one, Bigsby gets stuffed for about a
- 6:06Speaker 3: half a yard, so they have to punt. But you know,
- 6:08Speaker 3: in that situation, I think mckis should have ran and
- 6:10Speaker 3: picked up the first down. So, you know, situationally, there's
- 6:14Speaker 3: some things he needs to learn, and I would love
- 6:16Speaker 3: to see him get a chance at some point with
- 6:18Speaker 3: the starters, because, like you mentioned DeVante Smith, when he
- 6:21Speaker 3: was on the field, McKee looked pretty good.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Yeah, And one player who we both mentioned already is
- 6:26Speaker 2: Tank Bigsby. Tank Bigsby had seventy five yards, scored another touchdown,
- 6:29Speaker 2: has two on the season, finished the regular season with
- 6:32Speaker 2: just over three hundred yards. We could certainly make the
- 6:34Speaker 2: argument that he deserved a much larger role in the offense.
- 6:37Speaker 2: But I really enjoy watching Tank Bigsby run the football.
- 6:41Speaker 2: He runs with what I describe as desperation, almost like
- 6:45Speaker 2: he refuses to take a loss, and he creates his
- 6:48Speaker 2: own holes when there isn't something there and there's just
- 6:51Speaker 2: that urgency and just a knack for finding the crease,
- 6:55Speaker 2: and he runs angry. And I think that that's something
- 6:59Speaker 2: that I've really taken or have a new found appreciation
- 7:02Speaker 2: having watched him because it's very unorthodox the way he
- 7:04Speaker 2: runs the football.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know, sometimes I can get him in trouble.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I think one of the knocks on Tank coming over
- 7:10Speaker 3: from Jacksonville was his fumble. He fumbled the ball and
- 7:14Speaker 3: we haven't seen that, and that's a great thing. So
- 7:16Speaker 3: you know he's improving. He's getting better in that part
- 7:19Speaker 3: of the game. But you're right, the way he runs
- 7:20Speaker 3: the ball, it's just so fun to watch. But I
- 7:23Speaker 3: would point to a catch. He made one catch in
- 7:25Speaker 3: the game for thirty one yards, kind of a short
- 7:27Speaker 3: throw over the middle, and he ducked underneath of a
- 7:29Speaker 3: tackle and then picked up thirty one yards running to
- 7:32Speaker 3: open space down the sidelines. So you know he's a
- 7:35Speaker 3: threat in the past game too. And it's good that
- 7:37Speaker 3: he hasn't fumbled. You know, that gives you confidence in him.
- 7:40Speaker 3: The coaches have confidence in him, and I think, listen,
- 7:43Speaker 3: you're always going to be second fiddle to Saquon Barkley.
- 7:46Speaker 3: You know, Barkley's a Hall of Fame player. But I
- 7:49Speaker 3: think they probably should find a little bit more, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 3: playing time for Tank Bigsby. But right now, I don't
- 7:57Speaker 3: think we'll see it the playoffs are here. I think
- 8:00Speaker 3: you go with your best players, maybe throw Biggs b
- 8:02Speaker 3: in when Barkley needs a blow something they've been doing.
- 8:04Speaker 3: But yeah, he's certainly an impressive backup to have on
- 8:07Speaker 3: the team.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Yeah, And that kind of leads to my next point
- 8:10Speaker 2: in that the Eagles, when they struggle offensively, there's always
- 8:14Speaker 2: so much you can do. There's always so many buttons
- 8:16Speaker 2: you can press, right, Yeah, but something that is in
- 8:19Speaker 2: their control is maybe finding a way to get Tank
- 8:21Speaker 2: Biggsby four to six carries a game as it change up.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I think he brings some energy and juice into the offense,
- 8:28Speaker 2: and when you're trying to find some answers entering the postseason,
- 8:31Speaker 2: that could be one that's right in front of you.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:33Speaker 3: And again I think that ability to catch the football.
- 8:36Speaker 3: I mean that was Kenny Gainwell's role last year was
- 8:39Speaker 3: a very good catcher out of the backfield. I don't
- 8:42Speaker 3: think the Eagles have that in Bigsby. I think he
- 8:44Speaker 3: can catch the ball well, I don't think Barkley is
- 8:46Speaker 3: consistent enough catching the football. And then Will Shipley, you
- 8:50Speaker 3: know he can catch the ball, but they don't seem
- 8:52Speaker 3: to use him a lot. But it would be nice
- 8:54Speaker 3: to see not only Biggsby get like you said, four
- 8:56Speaker 3: to six carries, but maybe throwing the ball a couple
- 8:58Speaker 3: times too, especially after what he did against the Commanders
- 9:00Speaker 3: with that really sweet move to pick up thirty one yards.
- 9:04Speaker 2: And we talked to I know you and I were
- 9:07Speaker 2: there for Drew Kendall, but we talked to a couple
- 9:09Speaker 2: of the young linemen who had a chance to play
- 9:11Speaker 2: a pretty prominent.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Role for the first time in their careers.
- 9:13Speaker 2: And by and large, yes there were moments that they
- 9:16Speaker 2: would probably like to have back, but for their first
- 9:18Speaker 2: NFL action meaningful snaps, I thought they acquitted themselves pretty well.
- 9:23Speaker 2: So with Drew Kendall, I remember asking him if his father,
- 9:27Speaker 2: Pete Kendall, who played was a first round pick in
- 9:30Speaker 2: nineteen ninety six, played for four different teams, if his
- 9:34Speaker 2: dad was there, had he heard from his dad was
- 9:36Speaker 2: in attendance, and he was under the impression that he
- 9:38Speaker 2: was going to be a little hard on him, but
- 9:39Speaker 2: he said that he gave him some sound advice going
- 9:41Speaker 2: into that game, and honestly, I thought he performed pretty well.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that was a great question. I was there, you know,
- 9:47Speaker 3: we were talking to Drew. I think it was just
- 9:49Speaker 3: you and me and maybe another person, but you're the
- 9:51Speaker 3: one that pursued that line of questioning. I didn't even
- 9:53Speaker 3: think of that. But it was cool that his dad
- 9:55Speaker 3: was there. He talked to his dad. He said, listen
- 9:57Speaker 3: to Squap, you're gonna have butterflies on that first snap.
- 10:00Speaker 3: You hit somebody, or somebody hits you, they go away
- 10:02Speaker 3: and you're just playing football.
- 10:04Speaker 5: And then he said afterward he was gonna go see
- 10:05Speaker 5: his dad, and he was a little worried that he's
- 10:07Speaker 5: probably gonna be hard on him.
- 10:08Speaker 3: But yeah, I thought, you know, to your point, I
- 10:11Speaker 3: thought the backup line played.
- 10:13Speaker 5: Okay.
- 10:14Speaker 3: That's a tough situation for backup linemen to come in.
- 10:17Speaker 3: There's a lot going on, a lot of things you
- 10:19Speaker 3: have to process pre snap, and then you have to go
- 10:21Speaker 3: out and execute your job.
- 10:22Speaker 5: And I thought Kendall did pretty well in that role.
- 10:26Speaker 3: I thought, you know, Stein of course was the only
- 10:28Speaker 3: starter on that line that played.
- 10:30Speaker 5: Thought he did well.
- 10:31Speaker 3: But yeah, I thought Drew Kendall, I think the Eagles
- 10:33Speaker 3: have their backup center. And you know, Cam Jurgen's the
- 10:35Speaker 3: way he's been kind of banged up this year.
- 10:37Speaker 5: You never know what could happen.
- 10:39Speaker 3: As far as you know, maybe Drew Kendall having a
- 10:41Speaker 3: step in a little bit more, maybe in the playoffs
- 10:44Speaker 3: or even through next year.
- 10:45Speaker 5: Twenty twenty six season.
- 10:48Speaker 3: But yeah, I like the way he played, and you know,
- 10:52Speaker 3: they picked up yards on the ground. Bigsby had seventy
- 10:55Speaker 3: five yards I think, and you know it was a
- 10:57Speaker 3: good sign.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think also something that helped Drew Kendall
- 11:01Speaker 2: in that game was that he played alongside Brett Toth.
- 11:03Speaker 2: And something I've observed a lot during the season being
- 11:06Speaker 2: in the locker room is that there's a Brett Toath.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Maybe he doesn't get the recognition from the outside, but
- 11:13Speaker 2: what he does a really good job of is paying
- 11:16Speaker 2: it forward to the younger lineman.
- 11:18Speaker 4: And he's mentioned me before. He came up through the rich.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Ancestry of playing with Jason Kelcey and Isaac Sayamalu, Jason Peters,
- 11:27Speaker 2: and he's sort of paying it forward to the younger lineman.
- 11:30Speaker 2: He struck up a really close friendship with Drew Kendall.
- 11:33Speaker 2: He talks to Jake majors how and Pierce and playing
- 11:36Speaker 2: alongside him maybe helped Drew Kendall calm things down early
- 11:39Speaker 2: in that game.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah, they're right next to each other in the locker room,
- 11:42Speaker 3: to their lockers are side by side, so it's kind
- 11:44Speaker 3: of a natural thing to just pick each other's brain
- 11:47Speaker 3: to kind of lift Kendall up a little bit as
- 11:49Speaker 3: a rookie. And you know, listen, the Eagles lineman have
- 11:51Speaker 3: done this throughout the throughout you know, the last decade
- 11:54Speaker 3: or so. You know, Jason Peters, tutors, Jordan Malatta, Lane
- 11:59Speaker 3: Johnson is always willing to help younger guys. I mean,
- 12:01Speaker 3: the Eagles draft players that actually care about continuing the
- 12:05Speaker 3: legacy that this offensive line has built through the years
- 12:08Speaker 3: under Jeff Stout one. So it is nice to see
- 12:10Speaker 3: Brett toath kind of, you know, take those younger players
- 12:14Speaker 3: like you mentioned, Hollis Pierce Brett or Drew Kendall and
- 12:18Speaker 3: some of the other ones under his wing.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and very quickly before we turn the page from
- 12:23Speaker 2: this game and focus more on the here and now,
- 12:25Speaker 2: the cornerback situation, Keeley Ringo, Jacoreyan Bennett, it was a mess.
- 12:31Speaker 2: I believe that there are of the Eagles nine penalties,
- 12:34Speaker 2: I think six were charged to the secondary and to
- 12:38Speaker 2: kind of zoom out, I think, and I hope it
- 12:43Speaker 2: maybe forces those on the outside or maybe those who
- 12:47Speaker 2: have been critical of a Dori Jackson to maybe look
- 12:50Speaker 2: at him with a little bit more appreciation considering the
- 12:53Speaker 2: players behind him, and all of a sudden, it doesn't
- 12:55Speaker 2: look all that bad. I think Adorri Jackson has kind
- 12:58Speaker 2: of done a nice job settling into that number two
- 13:00Speaker 2: cornerback role.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and let's you know, think back to the early
- 13:04Speaker 3: part of the season and Dorri Jackson struggled, and I
- 13:06Speaker 3: think that's one of the big underrated storylines. Is he
- 13:09Speaker 3: got better, he got more comfortable, like you said, in
- 13:11Speaker 3: that role, what Dick Fangio expected from him, and now
- 13:16Speaker 3: he's the guy. You wonder after watching some of these
- 13:18Speaker 3: backups play, did the Eagles try to bring him back,
- 13:20Speaker 3: maybe on another one year deal because of what he's done.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I'm not saying he'll be a starter next year, but
- 13:25Speaker 3: he could be valuable reserve, much of the way Isaiah
- 13:28Speaker 3: Rodgers was on this team last year. But if there's
- 13:32Speaker 3: one thing I take away from this game, Andrew, it's
- 13:35Speaker 3: the secondary needs to be addressed heavily in the offseason.
- 13:39Speaker 3: I mean, Killey Ringo, great kid, hard working kid, still
- 13:43Speaker 3: a very young player, twenty three years old.
- 13:45Speaker 5: I think he came into the league.
- 13:47Speaker 3: At twenty years old, but boy, you just wonder if
- 13:50Speaker 3: he's ever going to get it. It's a concern, and
- 13:53Speaker 3: the players just panicked, you know. Mac McWilliams, the rookie,
- 13:56Speaker 3: got his first extended snatty panicked the balls in there.
- 13:58Speaker 3: He pushes his guy down I in the en zone.
- 14:00Speaker 3: They had three pis in the end Z and Jakorean
- 14:03Speaker 3: Bennett had two and mac McWilliams had one. So you
- 14:06Speaker 3: can't have that, you know. And that's one of the
- 14:07Speaker 3: concerns I have going into the offseason. And I know
- 14:10Speaker 3: we're not there yet. You hope you have another month
- 14:12Speaker 3: of playoffs here, but you have to find adequate, you know,
- 14:17Speaker 3: competent backups to be played behind Cooper the Gene and
- 14:20Speaker 3: Quinya Mitchell.
- 14:22Speaker 4: That's well said.
- 14:23Speaker 2: And when we get back, we're gonna talk injuries and
- 14:25Speaker 2: we're gonna start to unpack the week that will be
- 14:28Speaker 2: for you me then the Philadelphia Eagles as they prepare
- 14:31Speaker 2: to take on the San Francisco forty nine ers. You're

- 16:29Speaker 5: Andrew did check.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Oh all right, all right, you're listening to the Pro
- 16:33Speaker 2: Football Report presented by BCWSA right here on fourteen ninety
- 16:37Speaker 2: WBCB and one oh seven three FM and scene live
- 16:41Speaker 2: at wbcbsports dot com. I'm Andrew to check out alongside
- 16:46Speaker 2: my buddy Ed Kratz, longtime Eagles beat reporter, and we
- 16:49Speaker 2: are live from Chicken's and Pizza and Warrington. And I'll
- 16:52Speaker 2: tell you what, when you look around the NFL and
- 16:54Speaker 2: you see a lot of beat writers across the league
- 16:58Speaker 2: start to focus on locker and things like that, and
- 17:01Speaker 2: we have another week to work and cover another postseason run.
- 17:05Speaker 2: It's something that I certainly don't take for granted, and
- 17:07Speaker 2: I have to imagine you've covered a lot of these
- 17:10Speaker 2: and you probably have a certain appreciation for it as well.
- 17:13Speaker 5: Well.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Absolutely, you know, listen, this is probably the greatest sustained
- 17:17Speaker 3: success this organization has had in its long history. You know,
- 17:21Speaker 3: they've been in the playoffs now eight out of the
- 17:24Speaker 3: last nine seasons, five straight under Nick Sirianni.
- 17:28Speaker 5: I mean, that's awfully hard to do.
- 17:30Speaker 3: You know, we saw the Chiefs run of postseasons come
- 17:33Speaker 3: to an end. It happens eventually, So you have to
- 17:37Speaker 3: enjoy these why you have them, And right now they're having.
- 17:39Speaker 5: Quite a bit of success.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Two super Bowls in the last three years, two super
- 17:43Speaker 3: Bowl titles in the last eight years, and here they are,
- 17:46Speaker 3: back in the mix, back in the conversation again.
- 17:49Speaker 2: So before we get to the injuries, you and I
- 17:51Speaker 2: were sort of talking off camera here, and since you've
- 17:54Speaker 2: been covering the Eagles as long as you have, I
- 17:57Speaker 2: believe it fifteen years full time, what playoff memory really.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Sticks out to you in particular for whatever reason.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Yeah, we did talk about this and I have two
- 18:06Speaker 3: and even though it's been fifteen years, I was kind
- 18:08Speaker 3: of like the backup guy, you know, back in the
- 18:11Speaker 3: early ohs. And I remember the playoff game at the Vet,
- 18:15Speaker 3: the final game at the Vet, where the Tampa Bay
- 18:17Speaker 3: Buccaneers came in here. Had never won a game when
- 18:20Speaker 3: the temperature dropped below thirty two degrees, but yet it
- 18:23Speaker 3: was below thirty two degrees that day. The Eagles took
- 18:26Speaker 3: a lead and then they ended up losing to the
- 18:28Speaker 3: Bucks to close down the VET, So that was kind
- 18:30Speaker 3: of a sad memory. Probably one of my more memorable memories,
- 18:35Speaker 3: if you will, was when they won the NFC Championship
- 18:39Speaker 3: game in twenty seventeen against the Minnesota Vikings, whose fans
- 18:42Speaker 3: came in here kind of made a big deal. Did
- 18:44Speaker 3: the skull chant from the steps of the Art Museum
- 18:46Speaker 3: put their Minnesota Viking jersey on the Rocky statue there
- 18:51Speaker 3: that sits at the bottom of the steps.
- 18:52Speaker 5: That's a no no, that's a no no. And the
- 18:54Speaker 5: Eagles made them pay.
- 18:55Speaker 3: And I think the memorable play for me in that
- 18:57Speaker 3: game is, I know you're thinking flea flicker right to
- 19:01Speaker 3: start the second half.
- 19:02Speaker 5: Which was kind of the dagger.
- 19:04Speaker 3: That was similar to what we saw in the Super
- 19:06Speaker 3: Bowl this past February when when Jalen hurts at DeVante
- 19:09Speaker 3: Smith to kind of put that game on ice in
- 19:12Speaker 3: the Super Bowl.
- 19:12Speaker 5: That was similar.
- 19:13Speaker 3: But my most memorable play from that game is when
- 19:17Speaker 3: Patrick Robinson had that pick six. Chris Long hits the
- 19:20Speaker 3: Vikings quarterback and he goes case Keenum hits his arm
- 19:24Speaker 3: and Robinson takes it at maybe the forty forty five
- 19:27Speaker 3: yard line and goes straight, turns right, cuts up the field,
- 19:31Speaker 3: just a zigzag into the end zone, and that was
- 19:34Speaker 3: one of the most loudest moments I've ever heard. The
- 19:36Speaker 3: link was after he returned that because the Vikings had momentum,
- 19:39Speaker 3: they had a lead at that point, and Robinson picks
- 19:41Speaker 3: that ball off. I think it's seven to seven. After
- 19:44Speaker 3: that point, the place is going bananas. And then the
- 19:46Speaker 3: Eagles just hit the gas from there and blew them
- 19:48Speaker 3: out of the building.
- 19:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Well, I have to imagine that was the loudest you
- 19:51Speaker 2: can recall Lincoln Financial Field.
- 19:54Speaker 3: It was, and I listen. A close second to me
- 19:56Speaker 3: is back in I guess it was the two thousand
- 19:59Speaker 3: and four season when the Link was still brand spanking new, basically,
- 20:04Speaker 3: and the Atlanta Falcons, led by Mike Vick come to
- 20:06Speaker 3: town and the Eagles beat them, and I was out
- 20:09Speaker 3: on the field after the game. It's back when you know,
- 20:11Speaker 3: media was allowed onto the field and it was freezing cold.
- 20:14Speaker 3: I forgot my jacket, but the outpouring of love from
- 20:18Speaker 3: the fans, it was just the all the noise landing
- 20:21Speaker 3: on my head is what it felt like, and it
- 20:23Speaker 3: kind of warmed me up. And I remember thinking at
- 20:26Speaker 3: the time, like, you know, it's no wonder it's so
- 20:28Speaker 3: hard for players to want to retire from this game
- 20:30Speaker 3: because look, look at this outpouring of emotion and love
- 20:34Speaker 3: from the fan base. And that's probably any fan base
- 20:37Speaker 3: that gets to the Super Bowl. I remember that place
- 20:39Speaker 3: just being just a wall of noise for the players
- 20:42Speaker 3: after the game as they're hugging each other, congratulating one another,
- 20:45Speaker 3: and the fans all stayed no matter how cold it was,
- 20:48Speaker 3: the fans stayed in the stands and watched that whole celebration.
- 20:51Speaker 3: And I was able to hear that and witness that,
- 20:53Speaker 3: and that was exciting.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Man, that must have been a sight to behold. I
- 20:56Speaker 2: was trying to picture it as you were illustrating it.
- 20:58Speaker 2: But it's now for this week's injury review, brought to
- 21:01Speaker 2: you by the attorneys at Begley, Carlin and Mandio. Contact
- 21:05Speaker 2: them today for a free consultation at two one five
- 21:07Speaker 2: eight zero six three six eight nine. That's two one
- 21:10Speaker 2: five eight zero six three six eight nine. Injuries that
- 21:15Speaker 2: you and I will be keeping an eye on this
- 21:17Speaker 2: week for the Philadelphia Eagles. And these players did not
- 21:21Speaker 2: play against the Commanders. They were ruled out on Friday.
- 21:24Speaker 2: That's defensive tackle Jalen Carter with the hip, outside linebacker
- 21:27Speaker 2: Jalen Phillips ankle, linebacker Nacobe Dean hamstring, right tackle Lane
- 21:32Speaker 2: Johnson foot, safety Marcus Epps concussion, and tight end Dallas
- 21:37Speaker 2: Goddard knee.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I think Jalen Carter. He said it
- 21:42Speaker 3: during the week leading up to that final Commander's game
- 21:44Speaker 3: that if this was the playoffs, you'd be ready to go.
- 21:47Speaker 3: So not too concerned about Jalen Carter, Marcus Epps. You
- 21:51Speaker 3: never know how the concussion protocol plays out. He's really
- 21:54Speaker 3: kind of helped solidify that back end after Andrew mccooba
- 21:57Speaker 3: went out with the broken ankle in week twelve. He's
- 21:59Speaker 3: played well and if he can't play, then what are
- 22:02Speaker 3: you looking at? Sydney Brown, Michael Carter, Brandon Johnson.
- 22:06Speaker 2: They just they just put him on the practice squad
- 22:09Speaker 2: injured list. And I should also add, not to interrupt,
- 22:12Speaker 2: that they signed Parry Nickerson to the practice squad. They
- 22:15Speaker 2: brought him back and released Ambry Thomas, another defensive back.
- 22:19Speaker 2: So those were your transactions from today.
- 22:21Speaker 3: But yeah, no, certainly if Marcus EPs can't play, that's
- 22:27Speaker 3: gonna be something that is going to really bear watching.
- 22:29Speaker 3: And then, of course, you know Lane Johnson. You know,
- 22:31Speaker 3: he hasn't played. I think he's been out since maybe
- 22:34Speaker 3: seven straight games. I think he's missed again. I think
- 22:38Speaker 3: he's a player that had this been, you know, a
- 22:41Speaker 3: playoff type of game, he probably would have played. But
- 22:44Speaker 3: he's expected to return to practice on Wednesday. We'll see
- 22:47Speaker 3: how he looks. I think he's gonna play. I think
- 22:49Speaker 3: he'll be fine. And he's a you know, he's a vet, right,
- 22:52Speaker 3: He's a twelve thirteen year vet. He doesn't need a
- 22:55Speaker 3: lot of time to get ready. We all know what
- 22:56Speaker 3: Lane Johnson can do. Lane Johnson knows what he can do,
- 22:59Speaker 3: and I would expect him to play, but certainly something
- 23:02Speaker 3: to watch. And then n Kobe Dean vic Fangio today
- 23:05Speaker 3: to the reporters today and said that he expects Nakobe
- 23:09Speaker 3: to play. And again, I think that it's an injury
- 23:11Speaker 3: that they're just being cautious with. It wasn't that serious
- 23:14Speaker 3: of a hamstring injury when it happened, but you never
- 23:16Speaker 3: know with hamstrings, they could blow at any time, So
- 23:19Speaker 3: they were just taking it easy with Nakobe. They didn't
- 23:21Speaker 3: really need to win these games at the end. They
- 23:23Speaker 3: were kind of locked in where they were. But I
- 23:26Speaker 3: think Nakobe will play, but he's another one to keep
- 23:28Speaker 3: an eye on.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yeah, And you look at Nacobe Dean and the impact
- 23:31Speaker 2: that he's had ed and last season, I look at
- 23:34Speaker 2: Cooper Dejen and the insertion of Cooper Degen into that
- 23:37Speaker 2: nickel role in replacement of Avonte Maddox and how that
- 23:40Speaker 2: sort of transformed the defense. You can look at Jalen
- 23:43Speaker 2: Phillips certainly for sort of qualifying and fulfilling that type
- 23:47Speaker 2: of role. But na Kobe Dean, there's something to be
- 23:49Speaker 2: said for him when he's in there, he is a
- 23:51Speaker 2: physical force in the middle of that defense. He plays
- 23:55Speaker 2: with such tenacity and energy that I feel radiates throughout
- 23:59Speaker 2: the defense. You hear how teammates talk about him. I've
- 24:03Speaker 2: mentioned this even last year. I believe he's the heartbeat
- 24:05Speaker 2: of that defense. And when he's in there, he sets
- 24:08Speaker 2: the tone from a physical standpoint that the forty nine
- 24:11Speaker 2: ers and Christian McCaffery are gonna have.
- 24:12Speaker 4: To deal with.
- 24:13Speaker 3: You're right, and there's no doubt about that. And his
- 24:16Speaker 3: leadership qualities are second to none. You know, Nikobe talked
- 24:20Speaker 3: about when he was out and the Eagles were, you know,
- 24:22Speaker 3: kind of scuffling along. He missed the first seven games,
- 24:24Speaker 3: I think rehabbing the knee. He said one of his
- 24:28Speaker 3: missions when he got back was to go out there
- 24:31Speaker 3: and let his defense have fun again. Let's celebrate a
- 24:34Speaker 3: big play together. And that's what he brings. He loves
- 24:39Speaker 3: playing this game. He brings so much energy and passion
- 24:42Speaker 3: and he just kind of manifests itself to his teammates
- 24:46Speaker 3: and they feed off of that, and the defense started
- 24:48Speaker 3: having fun again. You see them running into the end
- 24:50Speaker 3: zone and celebrating a turnover, you know, high five on
- 24:53Speaker 3: one another after a big play that they make. So
- 24:56Speaker 3: you know, that's na Kobe and it's going to be
- 24:58Speaker 3: interesting Andrew to see this season ends. Whenever it is
- 25:01Speaker 3: what they're gonna do with Nakobe Dean, you know, his
- 25:04Speaker 3: contract is up, and we'll see. They have Jehad Campbell
- 25:07Speaker 3: who stepped in for Nakobe when he was out those
- 25:09Speaker 3: seven games and then again against the Commanders, had ten tackles,
- 25:13Speaker 3: another phenomenal player. It's just gonna be interesting beyond whatever
- 25:18Speaker 3: lies ahead to see what they do with Nikobe.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and even beyond the on field contributions, which I understand,
- 25:23Speaker 2: that's what we're focusing on. How he's so available after
- 25:27Speaker 2: the game. He'll stand there and talk for thirty minutes
- 25:29Speaker 2: before and after he showers, answering the different waves of reporters.
- 25:33Speaker 2: He does so much for the community. He's a really
- 25:35Speaker 2: good humanitarian as well, so I think he deserved. He's
- 25:37Speaker 2: just an all round just a good person in a
- 25:40Speaker 2: phenomenal football player.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Yeah, whenever, whenever Nakobe's at his locker, which is a
- 25:44Speaker 3: couple times each week, you can just go up and
- 25:45Speaker 3: talk to him about anything, you know, the college game,
- 25:48Speaker 3: how's Georgia doing where he played, you know, whatever you
- 25:51Speaker 3: want to talk about. Nikobe's always willing to talk and
- 25:54Speaker 3: he'll dress wave after wave of reporter after game, even
- 25:56Speaker 3: after he didn't play well, like he did you know
- 25:58Speaker 3: the Bears game that the Bears around all over the
- 26:00Speaker 3: Eagles and the Kobe was on the field for that,
- 26:02Speaker 3: but yet he answered I guess three different waves of questions,
- 26:07Speaker 3: the same ones, everybody asking the same questions, and the
- 26:09Speaker 3: Kobe's like always has time. So yeah, he's a good
- 26:13Speaker 3: person off the field, and maybe the Eagles will take
- 26:16Speaker 3: that into account when when the contract situation comes up.
- 26:19Speaker 2: So for the forty nine ers, ed wide receiver Ricky
- 26:22Speaker 2: Piersall missed the game against the Seahawks with the knee
- 26:26Speaker 2: and ankle, and left tackle Trent Williams missed the game
- 26:29Speaker 2: as well with a hamstring. Now they claim that both
- 26:31Speaker 2: players could have went if the game had been on Sunday,
- 26:34Speaker 2: but we'll see how that progresses throughout the week. They're
- 26:38Speaker 2: missing some key players in general. On they're injury reserved list.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Nick Bosa, Fred Warner. Nick Bosa is a top five
- 26:43Speaker 2: edge rusher. You can make the argument in the NFL.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Fred Warner is the top off ball linebacker in the NFL.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Huge losses for them. They also lost middle linebacker Tatum Bethune.
- 26:52Speaker 2: That's another big loss, that's a recent one, and so
- 26:55Speaker 2: they're really banged up there at linebacker. They also have
- 26:58Speaker 2: players like de Winter and Luke Gifford who are also injured.
- 27:01Speaker 2: So it kind of reminds me a little bit of
- 27:03Speaker 2: about that Bears game on Black Friday where they were
- 27:05Speaker 2: down to their fourth and fifth linebackers. I'm wondering whether
- 27:09Speaker 2: or not the Eagles are gonna be able to take
- 27:10Speaker 2: advantage of that second level.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Well, hopefully they learned a lesson against the Bears, because yeah,
- 27:15Speaker 3: the Bears were down their three starting linebackers and the
- 27:18Speaker 3: forty nine ers are banged up there. Now, there was
- 27:20Speaker 3: a report coming in. I don't know if you saw this.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I'm assuming it's true, but the forty nine ers are
- 27:25Speaker 3: gonna sign Kaizer White, that's right. And Kaizer White could
- 27:29Speaker 3: be on the field against his former team the.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Year and Eric Kendricks they have too, and he's been
- 27:34Speaker 2: playing in the league forever.
- 27:36Speaker 5: That's right.
- 27:36Speaker 3: So you know how quickly those guys can get acclimated
- 27:39Speaker 3: with the defense or you're just telling them to go
- 27:40Speaker 3: out there and tackle whoever has the ball. We'll see,
- 27:44Speaker 3: but the forty nine ers have brought in some reinforcements
- 27:46Speaker 3: at that spot. We'll see how that works out and
- 27:49Speaker 3: if the Eagles can, like you said, take advantage of
- 27:51Speaker 3: it of some of that it's not inexperience, but some
- 27:54Speaker 3: of that newness that they're bringing in.
- 27:56Speaker 2: And because of that, I can't help but wonder if
- 27:58Speaker 2: this will be a big game for Dallas. Now, we
- 28:00Speaker 2: have to keep an eye on Goddard, who missed the
- 28:03Speaker 2: game with the knee, so that's gonna be something critical
- 28:05Speaker 2: that we'll be keeping an eye on. But this feels
- 28:07Speaker 2: like it could be a big Dallas Goddard game. Maybe
- 28:10Speaker 2: some play action working the middle of the field, taking
- 28:13Speaker 2: advantage of his ability after the catch to really set
- 28:15Speaker 2: that tone from a physical standpoint.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you know, and listen, eleven touchdown passes this
- 28:20Speaker 3: year sets the team record that had stood since nineteen
- 28:23Speaker 3: sixty five, so long time ago before you know a
- 28:27Speaker 3: lot of people were born, not me but others. But
- 28:31Speaker 3: I don't remember when Pete Retz left did it in
- 28:34Speaker 3: nineteen sixty five, But you're right, I think Dallas goddr.
- 28:37Speaker 3: You know he's got the knee. We'll keep an eye
- 28:39Speaker 3: on that. But listen, I'm of the opinion of this
- 28:42Speaker 3: is this is winner go home. If you're if you're
- 28:44Speaker 3: a professional player and your arm's not hanging off or
- 28:46Speaker 3: your or your foot's not pointing sideways, you're gonna do
- 28:49Speaker 3: everything you can to get out there and play. So
- 28:51Speaker 3: I expect god It to be out there, Trent Williams,
- 28:55Speaker 3: whoever else, Ricky Pierce, Ricky Pierce. I expect both teams unless,
- 28:59Speaker 3: like I said, something really really serious is wrong, they're
- 29:02Speaker 3: gonna give.
- 29:02Speaker 5: It a go and try to play on Sunday.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Absolutely good stuff there.
- 29:07Speaker 5: Ed.
- 29:07Speaker 2: When we get back, we're gonna get to this week's
- 29:10Speaker 2: Pentworth financial case to the game, and I'm sure we
- 29:12Speaker 2: have many. But you're listening to the Pro Football Report,

- 31:02Speaker 2: my buddy who covers the team for Eagles on Sports
- 31:05Speaker 2: Illustrated and Ed. But before we start to get to
- 31:08Speaker 2: our keys to the game, you and I have struck
- 31:11Speaker 2: up a pretty close friendship over the past couple of years.
- 31:14Speaker 2: And you know when we go on the road to
- 31:16Speaker 2: cover the games, I think of the time in Tampa
- 31:19Speaker 2: or even the Super Bowl when we're out there at
- 31:21Speaker 2: whatever those restaurants are that we go to, and you know,
- 31:24Speaker 2: in New Orleans, we've we've had a lot of a
- 31:26Speaker 2: lot of fun.
- 31:27Speaker 5: Man.
- 31:27Speaker 2: And I have to say, if I had a flat
- 31:29Speaker 2: tire or something like that, you might be the first
- 31:31Speaker 2: person on the beat that I would call. In fact,
- 31:33Speaker 2: not Mike, you definitely would be. But just kind of
- 31:36Speaker 2: jogging your memory over the years, what are some some
- 31:39Speaker 2: memorable road trips that you've that you've experienced.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Yeah, well listen, I don't want to undersell the dinner
- 31:46Speaker 3: that we had in Ibor City.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Oh this one here with the Columbia there, it is,
- 31:51Speaker 2: got the pen, Got the penh terrific food.
- 31:53Speaker 3: If you're ever in Ibris City or outside of Tampa,
- 31:56Speaker 3: we highly recommend this forrest. So I don't know if
- 31:57Speaker 3: we can say it.
- 31:58Speaker 2: On the air, but yeah, Columbia Restaurant. Yeah, fantastic place.
- 32:03Speaker 5: Yeah. But anyway, that was certain. That was a fun night.
- 32:07Speaker 3: But one of my favorite probably road trip memories was
- 32:12Speaker 3: I guess it was the day before the Super Bowl
- 32:14Speaker 3: in Minnesota. You know, it really never stopped snowing that
- 32:17Speaker 3: week out there in Minnesota. There was always flurries flying
- 32:20Speaker 3: in the air and it never got above you know,
- 32:22Speaker 3: sixteen degrees. I don't think cheese.
- 32:24Speaker 5: But the day.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Before, me and a couple other writers, someone had rented
- 32:28Speaker 3: a car and we went up to Saint Paul and
- 32:30Speaker 3: there was the Olympic Festival was going on because I
- 32:33Speaker 3: think the Winter Olympics were coming in twenty eighteen, and
- 32:36Speaker 3: they had the They had a toboggan you could sit in,
- 32:40Speaker 3: and they had the curling ice set up three different ones,
- 32:44Speaker 3: and you could just go up and try it, and
- 32:45Speaker 3: I remember taking a knee and one of the other writers,
- 32:48Speaker 3: Marcus Hayes from the Philadelphia Choirers, videoing me, and I
- 32:52Speaker 3: pushed the rock down the track of ice and it
- 32:56Speaker 3: lands right in the center where it's supposed to.
- 33:01Speaker 5: Complete. Luck.
- 33:02Speaker 3: I had never curled a day in my life. And
- 33:06Speaker 3: the woman interview interviewer comes up to me and.
- 33:08Speaker 5: She says, oh, my gosh, it's so great. Do you
- 33:11Speaker 5: know what you did?
- 33:11Speaker 3: And I'm like, yeah, I put it in the middle
- 33:13Speaker 3: of the ice and she's like, yeah, but you know
- 33:14Speaker 3: what that's called. And I'm like, I don't know. I said,
- 33:16Speaker 3: is a condo or a house? And I guess it's
- 33:19Speaker 3: called the eye or something, or maybe it's the house.
- 33:21Speaker 5: I don't remember.
- 33:22Speaker 3: But Marcus Hayes is laughing like crazy and he's videoing
- 33:25Speaker 3: the whole thing.
- 33:26Speaker 5: And we had so much fun that day.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Martin Frank he was also with us, our friend Martin
- 33:30Speaker 3: Frank from the Delware online website, but he was with us,
- 33:34Speaker 3: and we went to try to go to Prince's house
- 33:36Speaker 3: that day and it was like one hundred dollars a
- 33:38Speaker 3: person to get in, so we left and we went
- 33:40Speaker 3: to Lake Minnetonka. But we just had a great day
- 33:43Speaker 3: in and around Saint Paul. The day before the Eagles
- 33:46Speaker 3: beat the New England Patriots in that Super Bowl, when
- 33:49Speaker 3: Nick Foles came out and was just lights out, And
- 33:52Speaker 3: I remember going into the Mall of America where the
- 33:54Speaker 3: media center was that week and every day being greeted
- 33:58Speaker 3: by two huge banners that, huh, if you ever in
- 34:00Speaker 3: the Mall of Americ, it's like three or four stories high,
- 34:02Speaker 3: and there were two huge banners of Nick Foles and
- 34:04Speaker 3: Tom Brady. And I'd look at it and say, there's
- 34:07Speaker 3: no way Nick Foles is going to be Tom Brady.
- 34:09Speaker 5: This guy's the goat, and we.
- 34:10Speaker 3: Have a backup who's caught fire. Yes, but this is
- 34:13Speaker 3: going to be a tough matchup. And then Foles goes
- 34:15Speaker 3: out and does it, and you know, delivers the first
- 34:17Speaker 3: Super Bowl championship to Philadelphia, which you know was you know,
- 34:21Speaker 3: you always remember your first time and I'll never forget
- 34:23Speaker 3: that game or that weekend in Minnesota.
- 34:25Speaker 4: Man, that's awesome.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it's time now for this week's Penworth Financial Keys
- 34:29Speaker 2: to the Game. The key to your financial future is
- 34:31Speaker 2: Penworth Financial Call them today at two six seven nine
- 34:35Speaker 2: nine to seven four five zero three or visit Penworth
- 34:38Speaker 2: dot com. Okay, so I look at this game ed defensively,
- 34:43Speaker 2: I don't have really any concerns about the Philadelphia Eagles
- 34:46Speaker 2: being able to ward off Brock Purty, Christian McCafferty and
- 34:49Speaker 2: that offense.
- 34:51Speaker 4: From an offensive standpoint.
- 34:53Speaker 2: With the Eagles, it's fair to have questions because we
- 34:57Speaker 2: haven't seen the offense be able to perform to this
- 34:59Speaker 2: stay that they sat with. Kevin Patulo, there's gonna be
- 35:03Speaker 2: a big spotlight on him this week. Is he going
- 35:05Speaker 2: to be able to craft an offense that can take
- 35:09Speaker 2: advantage of a defense in the forty nine Ers that
- 35:13Speaker 2: I would argue is sort of the most lackluster in
- 35:16Speaker 2: this playoff field. It can't just be, you know, very predictable.
- 35:21Speaker 2: You know, you run a couple of times, you take
- 35:22Speaker 2: a deep shot. It could because there have been many
- 35:24Speaker 2: times this season where the offense has felt predictable, like
- 35:27Speaker 2: we know what's coming.
- 35:28Speaker 4: I would like to see him some more optionality, maybe see.
- 35:31Speaker 2: The Eagles build off of some of the different intricacies
- 35:34Speaker 2: that we saw against the Chargers. Even against the Raiders,
- 35:38Speaker 2: there are some good things there, some more under center looks,
- 35:41Speaker 2: some play action, and then sort of maybe try to
- 35:43Speaker 2: marry that with what they did in that first Commanders game.
- 35:47Speaker 2: I think that would be the best case scenario. Clearly,
- 35:49Speaker 2: they're not gonna be able to flip a switch and
- 35:51Speaker 2: all of a sudden become this high octane offense, because
- 35:53Speaker 2: there's been no demonstrated performance this season. But I certainly
- 35:57Speaker 2: think that given the talent and you know, the knowing
- 36:02Speaker 2: the stakes and how high they are right now, they
- 36:04Speaker 2: should be able to put together a game plan that
- 36:06Speaker 2: can take advantage of it.
- 36:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, the fact that we're still kind of talking
- 36:11Speaker 3: about the offense here five plus months into the season,
- 36:14Speaker 3: not really knowing what to expect from it, to me,
- 36:16Speaker 3: is a big red flag. They should have had this
- 36:19Speaker 3: thing worked out long before January tenth or whenever this
- 36:23Speaker 3: game's going to be January eleventh, I guess it is.
- 36:25Speaker 3: But here we are, you know, and Patullo is going
- 36:28Speaker 3: to have to figure out how to get it done.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Him and Nick Sirianni both You mentioned that it's a
- 36:33Speaker 3: depleted forty nine Ers defense. The Bears defense was depleted,
- 36:37Speaker 3: and yet they couldn't take advantage of it, so hopefully
- 36:39Speaker 3: they can take.
- 36:39Speaker 5: Some lessons from that.
- 36:41Speaker 3: To me, I think offensively, it's imperative to get Jalen
- 36:45Speaker 3: Hurts more involved in the run game, to make the
- 36:47Speaker 3: forty nine.
- 36:48Speaker 5: Ers respect his legs.
- 36:49Speaker 3: The Eagles have been hesitant to do that all season
- 36:52Speaker 3: for whatever reason. Maybe it has to do with the
- 36:54Speaker 3: fact that, you know, Hurts is twenty seven years old
- 36:56Speaker 3: now doesn't look quite as fast when he gets to
- 36:59Speaker 3: the edge.
- 36:59Speaker 5: That happened.
- 37:00Speaker 3: You know, now twenty two year old guys are chasing
- 37:02Speaker 3: you and you're twenty seven, you don't look as fast.
- 37:06Speaker 3: But also I think the Eagles are a little hesitant
- 37:08Speaker 3: to do that to try to keep Jalen Hurts healthy.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Remember the past few seasons, he's always gets hurt late
- 37:14Speaker 3: in the year, so you could always get hurt inside
- 37:17Speaker 3: the pocket, but then you increase your chances of getting
- 37:19Speaker 3: hurt when you're running the ball. So now he's gotten
- 37:21Speaker 3: through the regular season, it's one and done. I'd like
- 37:24Speaker 3: to see them unleash Hurts a little bit more, maybe
- 37:26Speaker 3: do a little more rpo stuff, and make the forty
- 37:29Speaker 3: nine ers respect Jalen Hurts his legs a little bit more,
- 37:32Speaker 3: maybe than defenses have late in the season against the Eagles,
- 37:35Speaker 3: So that to me, to get this run game going,
- 37:38Speaker 3: you have to put the fear of Hurts and his
- 37:40Speaker 3: running ability back into the game plan.
- 37:42Speaker 2: What I would like to see Kevin Bittulo do is
- 37:45Speaker 2: because there's been many times this season where the offense
- 37:47Speaker 2: has gotten off to a slow start three and out punt,
- 37:51Speaker 2: Get Jalen Hurts some easy completions, whether that be some
- 37:55Speaker 2: screens to God Hurt, some throws over the middle, get
- 37:58Speaker 2: Aj Brown involved on those crossers, on those bang eight routes,
- 38:02Speaker 2: and it allows Jay when Hurst to settle into the
- 38:05Speaker 2: flow of the game. Because there's something to be said
- 38:07Speaker 2: for when you get that first three and out, you
- 38:10Speaker 2: start to feel the pressure coming in. Now, Nick Sirianni
- 38:13Speaker 2: and Jay when Hurts are better equipped to handle it
- 38:14Speaker 2: than most teams and most head coaching quarterback in the
- 38:17Speaker 2: NFL playoff field, but when you have an offense that's
- 38:19Speaker 2: been sputtering all season, you would like to get off
- 38:22Speaker 2: to a faster start. And I think there are certain
- 38:24Speaker 2: ways that Kevin Pittulla can help his quarterback out with
- 38:27Speaker 2: those first scripted plays.
- 38:29Speaker 5: Yeah, great point.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Get some easy first downs early, get Jalen into more
- 38:32Speaker 3: of a rhythm early and get that run game going.
- 38:36Speaker 3: You know, this is a defense to forty nine Ers
- 38:39Speaker 3: that gave up one hundred and eighty yards to the
- 38:41Speaker 3: Seahawks in the fight for the number one seed. So listen,
- 38:45Speaker 3: if the Seahawks can run for one dye with Kenneth
- 38:47Speaker 3: Walker and Zach Sharbonnat Zach Sharbonay, I mean, why can'ty
- 38:51Speaker 3: Eagles bang out one fifty at least with Barkley and
- 38:54Speaker 3: possibly Bigsby. So you know, you have to factor that
- 38:56Speaker 3: into you know, maybe Hurts can get forty to fifty
- 38:59Speaker 3: yards rushing, maybe more, but I think that's where you're
- 39:02Speaker 3: going to have to win this game is on the ground.
- 39:03Speaker 5: And that's what worries me is.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Like I said earlier, I think Kevin Patula seems to
- 39:08Speaker 3: get away from the run a little too quickly. And
- 39:11Speaker 3: you know, I know penalty is a factored into it,
- 39:13Speaker 3: and they're behind the sticks second and twelve losing two yards.
- 39:16Speaker 3: But throughout the course of a game, you have to
- 39:18Speaker 3: continue to run the football.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Yeah, And so there's two players on the forty nine
- 39:23Speaker 2: ers offense and they are sort of devoid of having
- 39:27Speaker 2: a plethora of playmakers on that side of the ball,
- 39:29Speaker 2: like the Eagles do. But you look at Christian McCaffrey,
- 39:32Speaker 2: one of the best running backs in the league. He's
- 39:34Speaker 2: been such a force as a receiver and a runner.
- 39:37Speaker 2: And then you have George Kittle, who they just got
- 39:39Speaker 2: back against the Seahawks, and he's someone that can make
- 39:42Speaker 2: an impact. Though the Eagles have done a really nice
- 39:44Speaker 2: job against tight ends this season. But I look at
- 39:46Speaker 2: Christian McCaffrey and his ability in space, and that's where
- 39:50Speaker 2: I believe having someone, i mean potentially like the Kobe
- 39:53Speaker 2: Dean in the game is going to make a world
- 39:56Speaker 2: of a difference versus someone maybe like at Jahad Campbell
- 39:58Speaker 2: because this is all new to Hi him and someone
- 40:01Speaker 2: like a Kyle Shanahan will be able to take advantage.
- 40:03Speaker 2: But being able to bring down Christian McCaffrey in space
- 40:06Speaker 2: is going to be paramount for the Eagles to have
- 40:08Speaker 2: some success and kind of try to put them behind
- 40:10Speaker 2: the sticks early.
- 40:12Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's gonna take more than just one person
- 40:14Speaker 3: to bring Christian McCaffrey down, So they're gonna have to get,
- 40:17Speaker 3: as the old cliche goes, hats to the ball or
- 40:19Speaker 3: helmets to the ball. You're gonna have to have a
- 40:21Speaker 3: gang tackle mentality to get Christian McCaffrey down before he
- 40:25Speaker 3: can get started. I mean, this guy, he leads the
- 40:28Speaker 3: team in rushing. I think he's got twelve hundred yards rushing,
- 40:30Speaker 3: ten rushing touchdowns. He leads their team in receiving close
- 40:33Speaker 3: to one thousand yards in receiving with another seven touchdowns.
- 40:36Speaker 3: I mean, this guy is legitimate. He's an All Pro player.
- 40:41Speaker 3: And if you stop him or limit him again, try
- 40:44Speaker 3: to limit the yards after catch, the yards after contact,
- 40:48Speaker 3: you have a shot to win. But that's easier said
- 40:50Speaker 3: than done. Everybody knows you have to stop McCaffrey. That's
- 40:52Speaker 3: hard to do, but the Eagles have the defense I
- 40:55Speaker 3: think to do it. And like you said, if Nakobe
- 40:57Speaker 3: Dean plays, I like his physicality. But boy Cooper the
- 41:01Speaker 3: genie is a fantastic tackler too. And you know we've
- 41:04Speaker 3: seen him make plays on Derrick Henry. I remember, you know,
- 41:07Speaker 3: the big Diesel getting the ball in open space I
- 41:09Speaker 3: think in the game last year and Cooper to Jean's
- 41:11Speaker 3: all over him for a three yard loss. So that
- 41:14Speaker 3: you know, maybe you put Cooper and you tell him
- 41:16Speaker 3: listen wherever McCaffrey goes on the field, you follow and
- 41:19Speaker 3: you get to him first, and then the rest of
- 41:21Speaker 3: you guys follow up and hit McCaffrey two.
- 41:23Speaker 2: I mentioned this player earlier, but he certainly helped kickstart
- 41:28Speaker 2: this Eagles pass rush because it's been a unit that
- 41:31Speaker 2: has evolved throughout the season. And that's jaywhen Phillips his
- 41:34Speaker 2: ability to set the edge with violence and authority, play
- 41:36Speaker 2: the run, get after the quarterback.
- 41:38Speaker 4: You see the length that he has.
- 41:39Speaker 2: But it's also opened up opportunities for jay loox Hunt,
- 41:42Speaker 2: who leads the Eagles in interceptions and sacks this season.
- 41:45Speaker 2: It's incredible three interceptions on the season. And then you
- 41:48Speaker 2: have Nolan Smith and from the interior, Jayalen Carter, Jordan Davis,
- 41:53Speaker 2: Moro Jomo. But for someone like Brock Perdy who can
- 41:57Speaker 2: maneuver the pocket a little bit, I think this is
- 41:59Speaker 2: a really good opportunity for the Eagles to get after
- 42:02Speaker 2: the quarterback, but also while staying disciplined in their rush lanes,
- 42:06Speaker 2: because that's the only area where he could kind of
- 42:07Speaker 2: hurt you if you get too wide, like the Dallas
- 42:10Speaker 2: Cowboys did Week one against Jalen Hurts. That's the only
- 42:12Speaker 2: thing that I could really see being able to kind
- 42:15Speaker 2: of get that offense going from the forty nine ers
- 42:17Speaker 2: with Brock Purdy with his legs.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I think experience is such a big
- 42:22Speaker 3: part of the postseason, especially at the quarterback position. We
- 42:25Speaker 3: have a couple of quarterbacks in this league that'll be
- 42:28Speaker 3: making their first playoff appearance. Brock Perdy is not one
- 42:31Speaker 3: of them. He's played six playoff games, He's four and two.
- 42:34Speaker 3: He's played in a super Bowl. I mean, this matchup
- 42:36Speaker 3: between Hurts and Party is pretty fascinating, especially when you
- 42:40Speaker 3: consider I think twelve of the quarterbacks in this tournament
- 42:43Speaker 3: were first round picks. The only two that weren't were uh,
- 42:47Speaker 3: Perdy and Hurts. Hurts in the second round obviously, and
- 42:50Speaker 3: Party mister rebel irrelevant in the seventh round. So and
- 42:53Speaker 3: they're matching up first weekend. All the other quarterbacks first
- 42:55Speaker 3: round picks, not Hurts, not Purty. Jalen Phillips, You're right,
- 42:59Speaker 3: he's juice. He's brought energy to this to this defense.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Only has two sacks, but what you don't see on
- 43:06Speaker 3: the stat sheet is his ability to affect the passer
- 43:08Speaker 3: with his rush and open up lanes for other guys
- 43:12Speaker 3: like Jalen Carter, perhaps mar Lajomo, Jlex Hunt.
- 43:18Speaker 5: He's just been tremendous.
- 43:19Speaker 3: I saw a stat I think next Gens stats at
- 43:21Speaker 3: it where he's tied for fourth for the most quarterback
- 43:24Speaker 3: pressures since Week ten with forty one of them, and
- 43:27Speaker 3: he's tied with Miles Garrett, the all time sack leader.
- 43:30Speaker 3: So that's pretty impressive, and that's something that doesn't show
- 43:32Speaker 3: up always on.
- 43:33Speaker 5: The stat sheet. But Jalen Phillips has helped this defense
- 43:35Speaker 5: out tremendously well.
- 43:36Speaker 4: That's well said.
- 43:37Speaker 2: It's important to bring that up bed because for as
- 43:39Speaker 2: good as the defense has been, where they've had sticking
- 43:42Speaker 2: points this season, it's been when they're going up.
- 43:44Speaker 4: Against mobile quarterbacks.
- 43:46Speaker 2: But I thought they fared well against Josh Allen and
- 43:49Speaker 2: later in the season it seems like they got that rectified.
- 43:51Speaker 2: But it's certainly something that they're gonna have to be
- 43:53Speaker 2: mindful of with a forty nine ers offense that absent
- 43:56Speaker 2: Christian McCaffery and George Kittle don't have a ton there.

- 45:54Speaker 3: hit the links on the X platform my Twitter at
- 45:57Speaker 3: Kratz E k r A Cze And now enough of
- 46:00Speaker 3: the shameless plugs for me.
- 46:02Speaker 4: Oh, first of all, how are those wings, buddy?
- 46:04Speaker 3: Well, I hope I don't have any, you know, any
- 46:07Speaker 3: sauce on my.
- 46:07Speaker 4: On my Now you're good. I let you know.
- 46:10Speaker 3: The wings are phenomenal. Chickis and pets, they always do
- 46:13Speaker 3: a great job with the wings. Of course, crab Fries
- 46:14Speaker 3: a legendary, but you know, trying to finish a play
- 46:18Speaker 3: of these wings in between segments, so I still have
- 46:21Speaker 3: a few to go.
- 46:22Speaker 2: All right, Yeah, Well this this pizza, I get it
- 46:24Speaker 2: every time every every week man, which is yeah, it
- 46:26Speaker 2: gets me ready for the penrose.
- 46:30Speaker 4: But some some really good.
- 46:32Speaker 2: Matchups this weekend, and from an NFC playoff picture, let's
- 46:35Speaker 2: start with the Rams and Panthers and we'll save the
- 46:39Speaker 2: Eagles forty nine ers for last.
- 46:42Speaker 4: I look at this game.
- 46:44Speaker 2: You never want to count a team out in the
- 46:46Speaker 2: Carolina Panthers, but they backed their way in.
- 46:48Speaker 4: They needed some help.
- 46:50Speaker 2: And I mean Bryce Young is a young quarterback, Dave
- 46:53Speaker 2: Canawis is a young coach. They're going up against a
- 46:57Speaker 2: juggernaut in Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford. In a course,
- 47:00Speaker 2: that high octane offense that they have. It's hard for
- 47:03Speaker 2: me to see a path where Carolina can make this interesting.
- 47:07Speaker 4: But you never want to count a team out.
- 47:08Speaker 2: But I look at this Rams offense with Davante Adams
- 47:12Speaker 2: and Puka Nakua, and they have a bunch of different
- 47:14Speaker 2: bunch of tight ends that they involved in the passing game,
- 47:17Speaker 2: the rushing attack with Kyron Williams and Blake Korum, and
- 47:21Speaker 2: it seems to me like this is.
- 47:22Speaker 4: Going to be a game that you can kind of
- 47:24Speaker 4: just go chalk here.
- 47:26Speaker 3: Well, you say you can never count a team out. Listen,
- 47:28Speaker 3: I'm counting the Panthers out already.
- 47:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 47:30Speaker 3: I don't think they have any business being in this
- 47:32Speaker 3: field eight to nine. You know, you have some teams
- 47:35Speaker 3: with winning records sitting home. Maybe it's something the NFL
- 47:38Speaker 3: revisits in the offseason to do something about that. But
- 47:42Speaker 3: the only advantage Carolina might have, Andrew, is the fact
- 47:45Speaker 3: that the Rams have to come east, you know, and
- 47:47Speaker 3: that's you know, that's a little one settling sometimes for
- 47:49Speaker 3: these teams from the West coming east, playing in a
- 47:52Speaker 3: different time zone. But you know, the Rams have done
- 47:55Speaker 3: that quite a bit. They're a playoff tested team. They
- 47:58Speaker 3: probably have the MVP of the league atterback, Matt Stafford.
- 48:02Speaker 3: It's just gonna be really, really tough for the Carolina
- 48:05Speaker 3: Panthers and Bryce Young, who's one of those quarterbacks I mentioned,
- 48:08Speaker 3: making his first NFL playoff start. It's gonna be a
- 48:12Speaker 3: pill climb the whole way.
- 48:13Speaker 4: Now.
- 48:14Speaker 2: To be clear, I'm with you, I expect the Rams
- 48:16Speaker 2: to win this game, but based off of how everything.
- 48:19Speaker 4: Went this season around the NFL.
- 48:21Speaker 2: It wouldn't be out of the ordinary to see something
- 48:23Speaker 2: like that happen where there is a significant upset. But
- 48:26Speaker 2: I think we're gonna go chalk here. We both are
- 48:28Speaker 2: in agreement that the Rams have this one. However, the
- 48:31Speaker 2: game between the Packers and Bears I find to be
- 48:35Speaker 2: particularly fascinating because it literally could go either way. I
- 48:38Speaker 2: think both teams are relatively balanced. I like the Bears,
- 48:43Speaker 2: but I don't know if they're quite ready yet. Caleb
- 48:45Speaker 2: Williams young quarterback Ben Johnson has done a very nice
- 48:48Speaker 2: job as a first year head coach. They have some
- 48:51Speaker 2: issues on defense, and I don't know they if Caleb
- 48:55Speaker 2: Williams is gonna be able to meet the moment. You
- 48:57Speaker 2: never really know that until they're thrust in the spotlight.
- 49:00Speaker 2: We know that jaywhen Hurst is a debt of doing it.
- 49:02Speaker 2: We know Matthew Stafford can do it. Brock Purdy has
- 49:04Speaker 2: played in the Super Bowl. But Caleb Williams, I think
- 49:06Speaker 2: this will be a really good measuring stick type of
- 49:08Speaker 2: game for him to see where he is. If nothing else,
- 49:11Speaker 2: it'll be good experience. Then on the Green Bay Packers side,
- 49:14Speaker 2: I mean losing Micah Parson sucked all the wind out
- 49:17Speaker 2: of their sales. It feels like to me they have
- 49:20Speaker 2: Jordan Love back Matt Lafleur, but it seems like they're always,
- 49:23Speaker 2: you know, a seventh seed in the postseason, and I
- 49:26Speaker 2: don't quite know what to make.
- 49:27Speaker 4: Of that team. So I kind of have this one
- 49:29Speaker 4: as a toss up.
- 49:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 49:31Speaker 3: You know, it's one of those division battles, you know,
- 49:34Speaker 3: kind of a border war type situation. Neither team likes
- 49:36Speaker 3: each other much. It was kind of when the Eagles
- 49:38Speaker 3: played the Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
- 49:40Speaker 5: Two NFC East teams.
- 49:42Speaker 3: You really never know how they're going to turn out. Now,
- 49:44Speaker 3: you know, the Packers get a second crack at this.
- 49:45Speaker 3: They should have beat the Bears in their most recent
- 49:47Speaker 3: game in Chicago. They had to lead, and you never
- 49:50Speaker 3: see you on side kicks work. But you know, Romeo
- 49:52Speaker 3: Dobbs somehow like mister mcgood. The kick it looked like
- 49:56Speaker 3: you didn't even see it and the Bears are covering.
- 49:58Speaker 5: They end up winning the game.
- 49:59Speaker 3: So this is a s crack for the Packers to
- 50:01Speaker 3: go back and try to fix that mistake. But I
- 50:05Speaker 3: just don't like their defense without Michael Parson. I know
- 50:08Speaker 3: Jordan Love has that playoff experience. They went to Dallas
- 50:11Speaker 3: a couple of years ago and hammered the Cowboys in
- 50:13Speaker 3: the playoffs. Jordan Love led that that slaughter that day,
- 50:18Speaker 3: and Caleb Williams, you're right, first playoffs start. Another one
- 50:20Speaker 3: of those quarterbacks making his first playoff start, and he's
- 50:23Speaker 3: about to find out just how different it is in
- 50:25Speaker 3: the playoffs. Everything matters, every play matters. Everything's magnified, everything
- 50:29Speaker 3: goes a little bit faster, and he's gonna have to
- 50:31Speaker 3: slow things down and get into rhythm to find a
- 50:34Speaker 3: way to win this game.
- 50:35Speaker 5: It's gonna it's gonna be a toss up.
- 50:36Speaker 2: You're right, And if the Bears are able to pull
- 50:38Speaker 2: it off and the Eagles take care of business, the
- 50:40Speaker 2: Eagles will be going to Soldier Field.
- 50:41Speaker 3: No, right, Well, if the Bears win, the Eagles will
- 50:45Speaker 3: go to Soldier Field if the Eagles win, But if
- 50:47Speaker 3: the Packers win, the Packers come to Lincoln Financial Field.
- 50:50Speaker 5: Right, there's the seventh seed.
- 50:52Speaker 3: The Rams would go to Seattle if the Rams win,
- 50:55Speaker 3: and the Packers would come here if they beat the Bears.
- 50:58Speaker 3: So all that angst about not playing your starters against
- 51:01Speaker 3: the Commanders may not even come to fruition.
- 51:03Speaker 5: And they play still get a home game.
- 51:05Speaker 4: And the Bears Packers played before the Eagles.
- 51:07Speaker 2: They played the day before, so we get to kind
- 51:09Speaker 2: of watch that and see how that all plays out.
- 51:12Speaker 4: Who's your pick from the AFC to go to the
- 51:13Speaker 4: Super Bowl?
- 51:14Speaker 5: Who are you picking in that game? Though?
- 51:16Speaker 4: First Andrew, I'm I'm picking Green Bay. We got time,
- 51:18Speaker 4: don't worry.
- 51:19Speaker 5: Okay, you're picking I'll.
- 51:21Speaker 4: Up to speed with the clock here.
- 51:22Speaker 5: All right. Well, I'm going to go with Chicago.
- 51:24Speaker 3: I think Chicago is going to find a way to
- 51:26Speaker 3: hold Serve at home, and it's going to be a
- 51:28Speaker 3: tight one.
- 51:29Speaker 5: But I think the Bears get it done, all right.
- 51:31Speaker 4: So you and I are on the opposite end Z
- 51:33Speaker 4: on that.
- 51:33Speaker 2: That's all right, yes, But who's your AFC pick for
- 51:37Speaker 2: their representative in the Super Bowl?
- 51:39Speaker 5: Man, that's a tough one.
- 51:40Speaker 3: You know, you look at the playoff experience of the
- 51:42Speaker 3: quarterbacks and Josh Allen has it. You look around the field,
- 51:45Speaker 3: Josh Allen's not seeing Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid staring
- 51:47Speaker 3: back at him from the other side, So you know
- 51:50Speaker 3: that bodes well.
- 51:50Speaker 5: I think for Buffalo.
- 51:52Speaker 3: A little question about that defense, though, I think the
- 51:54Speaker 3: Jaguars might be a little undersold, and I think that's
- 51:57Speaker 3: the matchup, right, Bill's go to Jacksonville the six to
- 52:00Speaker 3: three game on Sunday, correct, Listen, I think the winner
- 52:05Speaker 3: of that game could be the AFC representative in the
- 52:08Speaker 3: Super Bowl. To be honest with you, that that might
- 52:10Speaker 3: be a little outside the box because I don't want
- 52:12Speaker 3: to discount the Broncos.
- 52:13Speaker 5: That's a tough place to play.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Home field advantage, you're playing at altitude, you got to
- 52:17Speaker 3: bring the oxygen tanks if.
- 52:19Speaker 5: You're the visitor.
- 52:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 52:20Speaker 5: Uh.
- 52:21Speaker 3: And and their defense is phenomenal, and you know, at
- 52:24Speaker 3: this point in the season it's usually defenses that win championships.
- 52:27Speaker 3: But again, bo Nicks his second career start in the playoffs,
- 52:31Speaker 3: maybe that's a little experience. Hard to pick against the Broncos.
- 52:34Speaker 3: But there's just something about this Jags team and the
- 52:37Speaker 3: way they're playing, and of course Josh Allen finally having
- 52:40Speaker 3: a path without the Chiefs sitting in there waiting for him,
- 52:44Speaker 3: finding a way to maybe.
- 52:45Speaker 5: Get to the Super Bowl.
- 52:46Speaker 4: I'm going with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 52:48Speaker 2: Okay, now you agree, No, I really like the way
- 52:52Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence is playing. He's playing like the quarterback they
- 52:55Speaker 2: expected when they drafted him as high as they did.
- 52:57Speaker 4: Think he went won, right, he did?
- 53:00Speaker 5: All right?
- 53:00Speaker 4: Hey, what what?
- 53:01Speaker 2: I can't remember all these years back, but yeah, I
- 53:03Speaker 2: mean their defense is playing well. I feel like they're
- 53:06Speaker 2: they hit their stride at the right time.
- 53:09Speaker 4: The AFC is wide open.
- 53:10Speaker 2: Like you said, there's no Patrick Mahomes, there's no Kansas
- 53:12Speaker 2: City Chiefs that you.
- 53:13Speaker 4: Have to that are sort of like that roadblock.
- 53:15Speaker 2: I don't know if the Bills have enough there from
- 53:17Speaker 2: a defensive perspective to be able to get it done.
- 53:20Speaker 2: And I think in a season, the way that that's calling,
- 53:23Speaker 2: the way that it's gone. I look at the Jaguars
- 53:25Speaker 2: and I look at the Houston Texans, I'm leaning towards Jacksonville.
- 53:29Speaker 5: Wow.
- 53:30Speaker 3: Yeah, the at least the Jags have a home game.
- 53:32Speaker 3: I think that's pretty important, you know, to get to
- 53:36Speaker 3: the Super Bowl. Tough to win three games on the road,
- 53:39Speaker 3: which the Texans probably would have to do to get to.
- 53:41Speaker 4: The Super Bowl. And they're young.
- 53:43Speaker 3: They have a young team and they're young, but boy,
- 53:45Speaker 3: they're defense again. Defense travels. Defense comes to play when
- 53:48Speaker 3: you have a good defense, you have a shot. And
- 53:50Speaker 3: and those two teams, the Jags Broncos three teams, I
- 53:54Speaker 3: should say, and uh, and the Texans have good defenses.
- 53:58Speaker 2: All right, Eddie the ka it is the moment of
- 54:01Speaker 2: truth Eagles forty nine ers.
- 54:03Speaker 4: I look at this game and look, the forty.
- 54:06Speaker 2: Nine ers are making the trip back to the East.
- 54:10Speaker 2: That's not gonna be easy. They're depleted defensively, They're down
- 54:13Speaker 2: to their bare bones at linebacker. Their secondary has some
- 54:16Speaker 2: nice young pieces who I really like, and safety's Jayre
- 54:19Speaker 2: Brown and Malik Mustafa Diamodoor. Lenoor is a tough competitive corner,
- 54:24Speaker 2: but I just don't know if they have enough to
- 54:28Speaker 2: I know, I'm saying this knowing the Eagles offense hasn't
- 54:31Speaker 2: given us a reason to have this kind of blind
- 54:34Speaker 2: faith in them. But I do believe that Kevin Patulo,
- 54:37Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts and that offensive line in particular are going
- 54:40Speaker 2: to find a way to get it done, be able
- 54:43Speaker 2: to put up some points in this game and take
- 54:44Speaker 2: advantage for what feels like could be the first time
- 54:47Speaker 2: the season against a defense that's going to give you
- 54:49Speaker 2: those opportunities. And then defensively, this feels like a unit
- 54:53Speaker 2: that just embraces having that pressure on their shoulders. Jordan
- 54:56Speaker 2: Davis may have said it best. You know, we're gonna
- 54:59Speaker 2: let them figure it out, but we're gonna hold it
- 55:00Speaker 2: down until the offense figures it out instead of looking
- 55:03Speaker 2: at it from a divisive standpoint.
- 55:04Speaker 4: They're gonna get after Brock Purdy.
- 55:06Speaker 2: I think they're playing with a lot of confidence on
- 55:08Speaker 2: the back end, not having to cover as long. I
- 55:11Speaker 2: just I feel like the Eagles win this game. And
- 55:13Speaker 2: I'm gonna give the score of twenty four to sixteen.
- 55:16Speaker 5: Wow, that's pretty good. Yeah.
- 55:18Speaker 3: I don't think the Eagles need to score thirty points
- 55:20Speaker 3: to win this game, you know. I think if they
- 55:22Speaker 3: get it into the twenties, they're gonna win. I love
- 55:25Speaker 3: the way this defense matches up against the forty nine ers.
- 55:28Speaker 3: I love the lead dog of that offense or that defense.
- 55:31Speaker 3: Vic Fangio, Oh yeah, you know, calling the shots. He's
- 55:34Speaker 3: familiar with Kyle Shanahan's offenses. He's played against it a
- 55:37Speaker 3: few times. It's been a long time, but I just
- 55:40Speaker 3: like the way he has.
- 55:41Speaker 5: This defense role.
- 55:42Speaker 3: When Brock Perdy sometimes has a tendency to hold the
- 55:45Speaker 3: ball a little bit longer while he scans the field,
- 55:48Speaker 3: and if the Eagles put pressure on him, they can
- 55:50Speaker 3: sack him and you know, maybe they get to him
- 55:52Speaker 3: four or five times, beat him up a little bit,
- 55:55Speaker 3: make him a little bit more inaccurate as the game
- 55:57Speaker 3: goes on. And I think the Eagles will score. I
- 56:00Speaker 3: don't think the forty nine ers will. I'm gonna call
- 56:02Speaker 3: it twenty three to seventeen birds.
- 56:05Speaker 4: Nice. I like that one.
- 56:06Speaker 5: All right, we're similar, you said twenty four to sixteen.
- 56:09Speaker 2: Look, we're either gonna look like geniuses or we're gonna
- 56:12Speaker 2: look not too bright.
- 56:13Speaker 5: Ye. Well, the genius thing rarely happens, let's face it out.
- 56:16Speaker 4: But that was a lot of fun, man. I appreciate
- 56:17Speaker 4: you joining me.
- 56:18Speaker 5: My pleasure anytime.
- 56:19Speaker 4: That's gonna do it.
