- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. Sometimes today is a dud. Sometimes
- 0:20Speaker 1: today has a lot of action. It's trade deadline day.
- 0:23Speaker 1: We are he looks at the clock, two hours away
- 0:26Speaker 1: from the four pm Eastern time deadline to make trades.
- 0:31Speaker 1: That's it and we got some action. Hi, this is
- 0:33Speaker 1: NFL Now, NFL Network. I'm Andrews Siciliana were the news
- 0:36Speaker 1: room in Los Angeles. Thanks for watching us today. We'll
- 0:39Speaker 1: get back to the highlight the Browns, the Bengals, and
- 0:40Speaker 1: all that happened last night in Cleveland. Momentarily, let's get
- 0:44Speaker 1: you the deals that have been done. First off, Chase
- 0:50Speaker 1: Claypool about twenty five minutes ago, went from Pittsburgh to
- 0:54Speaker 1: Chicago for a second round pick. Interesting, all right. Also
- 1:03Speaker 1: interesting the fact that t J. Hockinson went from the
- 1:06Speaker 1: last place team of the NFC North to the Lions
- 1:09Speaker 1: to the first place team of the NFC Door, the Vikings.
- 1:13Speaker 1: It's Hockinson and a couple of picks for a couple
- 1:17Speaker 1: of twos. It's an interesting deal here between the Lions
- 1:22Speaker 1: and the Vikings. Ian Rappaport, Mike Garrett Folo, Tom Pelliser,
- 1:26Speaker 1: the insiders all working their phones today with two hours
- 1:29Speaker 1: to go before the deadline, Let's do this Chase Claypool
- 1:32Speaker 1: trade first. Here, Tom, that's the one that just came down.
- 1:36Speaker 1: It's it's the Ravens are rather the Bears giving up
- 1:38Speaker 1: the two they got from the Ravens yesterday in the
- 1:42Speaker 1: Roquan Smith deal. That's right, Andrew. This is a significant
- 1:46Speaker 1: trade for the Bears here to bring in a playmaker
- 1:49Speaker 1: they feel that can help justin Fields in his development.
- 1:52Speaker 1: So as much as Chicago has been a seller to
- 1:55Speaker 1: this point, eating money, trading away ro Kwan Smith and
- 1:58Speaker 1: Robert Quinn, in this case they are buyers on trade
- 2:02Speaker 1: deadline day, sending that set and round draft pick to
- 2:06Speaker 1: the Steelers for Chase Claypool. Now, Claypool had been vocal
- 2:10Speaker 1: about his frustration in Pittsburgh, said that he wasn't getting
- 2:13Speaker 1: enough go balls down the field. Well, that's a justin
- 2:15Speaker 1: field specialty, those vertical types of throws. You would think
- 2:19Speaker 1: he's gonna get plenty of opportunities for that. And as
- 2:21Speaker 1: for the Bears here, this is not a rental player
- 2:24Speaker 1: type of situation. Chase Claypool is under contract for three
- 2:28Speaker 1: as well at a relatively low number. The Bears still now,
- 2:32Speaker 1: based on those other trades they've made, have eight picks
- 2:34Speaker 1: in the three draft, close to a hundred twenty million
- 2:38Speaker 1: dollars in cap space. A lot of flexibility here in
- 2:41Speaker 1: this rebuild that certainly appears to be revolving alright in
- 2:43Speaker 1: Justin Fields, Ian is making a face. Let's clean this
- 2:46Speaker 1: up here. I'm juggling a lot of different things here,
- 2:49Speaker 1: So Ian, I got that wrong. It's not the ro
- 2:52Speaker 1: Quan Ravens too, it's the Bears original two, which honestly
- 2:58Speaker 1: makes us even more confusing. Here you're giving up what
- 3:01Speaker 1: will likely be a higher pick, a better pick than
- 3:04Speaker 1: the one you're getting for Roke Corn. Right, But it
- 3:08Speaker 1: also explains how the deal got done, because if you're
- 3:11Speaker 1: the Pittsburgh Steelers, you get a more valuable pick. It's all.
- 3:14Speaker 1: It's all just how you value the player, and you
- 3:16Speaker 1: know who knows what this will be in the end.
- 3:18Speaker 1: But yes, the second time was right, not the first time. Wow, Um,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I don't get that one. T J. Hockenson, help me
- 3:26Speaker 1: explain this one in Well, this is an easy one
- 3:29Speaker 1: to explain. The Detroit lines obviously felt they were not
- 3:31Speaker 1: going to resign t J. Hockinson, someone that the previous regime, uh,
- 3:37Speaker 1: previous regime drafted, and someone who's do a huge uh
- 3:40Speaker 1: sum of money about you think would be north of
- 3:43Speaker 1: thirteen or maybe fourteen million dollars. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings
- 3:46Speaker 1: have IRB Smith, who's headed to injury reserve their tight end.
- 3:50Speaker 1: They look like they are primed to make it run
- 3:52Speaker 1: one of the better teams in the NFL. So they
- 3:54Speaker 1: send what amounts to a second round pick and maybe
- 3:56Speaker 1: a little bit more. Uh, they send that and they
- 3:59Speaker 1: get t J. Hockenson. So if you're the Vikings, all
- 4:01Speaker 1: you do is load up with a really really good
- 4:04Speaker 1: weapon x els the yards after they catch a tough
- 4:07Speaker 1: blocker as well a tough dude as well. Uh. Really
- 4:10Speaker 1: a no brainer for the Minnesota Vikings. What's going on?
- 4:13Speaker 1: Mike Garrifola with Bradley Chubb in Denver. What's going on
- 4:18Speaker 1: is the Denver Broncos. They're looking at a guy that
- 4:20Speaker 1: they're going to have to pay a lot of money
- 4:22Speaker 1: to at some point if they want to give him
- 4:23Speaker 1: a contract extension. It's also a guy that George Peyton,
- 4:27Speaker 1: the new general d GM, did not draft, So looking
- 4:30Speaker 1: at it, saying, well, I gotta get something back at
- 4:32Speaker 1: some point for what I traded away for Russell Wilson.
- 4:34Speaker 1: This might be a good opportunity, so I'm gonna explore it.
- 4:37Speaker 1: But I'm not just gonna give this guy away. It's
- 4:39Speaker 1: not like we're gonna get some later round compensation. Obviously.
- 4:41Speaker 1: They want early round compensation, including a first round pick,
- 4:45Speaker 1: and that's fair when you've got a budding pass rusher. Obviously,
- 4:48Speaker 1: it's what are you adding on top of a potential
- 4:51Speaker 1: first round pick. Sometimes it's two first round picks, depending
- 4:54Speaker 1: on where those picks are in the round. So uh
- 4:56Speaker 1: the Broncos as far as uh them being talked about
- 4:59Speaker 1: for multiple players that they might trade away, it's looking
- 5:02Speaker 1: like it's gonna be Chubb or bust when it comes
- 5:04Speaker 1: to a trade today. So we're watching that now with
- 5:06Speaker 1: two hours to go to the trading deadline. Elsewhere, Cam Akers,
- 5:10Speaker 1: the Rams running back, still away from the team for
- 5:13Speaker 1: what they have dubbed personal reasons. He misses football. They
- 5:16Speaker 1: don't necessarily miss him, but they will welcome him back.
- 5:19Speaker 1: It sounds like if they can't find a trade partner,
- 5:22Speaker 1: and that's been difficult for them to find at this point.
- 5:25Speaker 1: That seems like there was some disagreement at some point
- 5:27Speaker 1: between Acres and the team for how he was being used.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But the Rams believe that's something that could be patched
- 5:32Speaker 1: over if they don't get themselves a trade partner in
- 5:35Speaker 1: the next one hour and fifty five minutes. I love
- 5:37Speaker 1: counting it down, but this is another guy we're watching
- 5:39Speaker 1: to see if he'll be back with the Rams after
- 5:42Speaker 1: this deadline passes, or if he will be at in
- 5:44Speaker 1: another location. Rams started Ronnie Rivers at running back this
- 5:49Speaker 1: past Sunday, ahead of Darryl Henderson. Rivers run not much. Yeah, alright, guys,
- 5:58Speaker 1: uh four o'clock Eastern time, the trade deadline. Let's talk
- 6:03Speaker 1: with the New York Jets here. They were five and two,
- 6:04Speaker 1: they were they were looking good. They thought they were
- 6:07Speaker 1: gonna beat the Patriots. It didn't happen because Zack Wilson
- 6:10Speaker 1: through three interceptions. Oh don't worry now, all you have
- 6:14Speaker 1: to do is clean things up and face the bills.
- 6:19Speaker 1: He does an unbelievable thing of getting out of pressure
- 6:22Speaker 1: and finding space, and he looks down field and there's
- 6:24Speaker 1: nothing there. That's okay. Let's go live to play another
- 6:27Speaker 1: down and keep the ball in our hands. We'll play
- 6:29Speaker 1: the field position battle, our defense playing really well. We
- 6:32Speaker 1: can run the ball, we can do all those things.
- 6:33Speaker 1: So UM for him, just just always just that that
- 6:37Speaker 1: simple reminder it's okay to be bored, and just to
- 6:40Speaker 1: remember that you've got a bunch of guys in that
- 6:41Speaker 1: locker room. We are pretty good at football too. When
- 6:43Speaker 1: they've got your betters right, it's okay to throw the
- 6:45Speaker 1: ball away. And one of them here, Baldy Mike gard
- 6:48Speaker 1: Wilson said he was trying to throw the ball away
- 6:50Speaker 1: and Devin mccordy ended up with an interception. Um, that
- 6:54Speaker 1: old line has taken a lot of injury hits now
- 6:57Speaker 1: without Ala Elijah Vera Tucker grdi and as I mentioned,
- 7:01Speaker 1: it's only the Bills this week. Look at Bruce Hall
- 7:05Speaker 1: at the Elijah Very Tucker injury. Maybe the real problem
- 7:08Speaker 1: for that Jets team. They struggled dramatically against the Patriots
- 7:12Speaker 1: pass rush, which isn't really phenomenal Matt Judean on one side,
- 7:15Speaker 1: but you know they just send to set a lot
- 7:17Speaker 1: of bodies at you, four and five man rushes, but
- 7:19Speaker 1: they pressured him seventeen times. Zach Wilson in that game.
- 7:22Speaker 1: That's pressure rate on dropbacks. And here's the problem. Zak
- 7:27Speaker 1: has been poor, very poor against pressure this season. I
- 7:31Speaker 1: mentioned the stat last yesterday whenever it was last night yesterday.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Nine out of forty seven and fifty yards five interceptions
- 7:39Speaker 1: versus pressure this year. That's completion rate percent. That just
- 7:43Speaker 1: that can't happen. And here you go against the Bills,
- 7:46Speaker 1: the defensive line that has been eating all year long.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And now Ed Oliver is back, he's healthy. He was
- 7:52Speaker 1: extremely disruptive in that game. Versus the Green Bay Packers.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You have Von Miller coming off one side, Greg Russo,
- 7:58Speaker 1: who had a stack the other day, coming off the other.
- 8:00Speaker 1: They come at you in waves. I don't know how
- 8:03Speaker 1: the Jets handle this because us of the pressure came
- 8:05Speaker 1: off their tackles, five on each side. Mike, this is
- 8:08Speaker 1: a This is a tough matchup. We thought that Jets
- 8:11Speaker 1: would match up good against the Patriots because defensively they're
- 8:14Speaker 1: pretty solid football team. But the Bills present issues. It
- 8:18Speaker 1: showed up against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers
- 8:22Speaker 1: last week. They're willing to give you some yards on
- 8:24Speaker 1: the ground. I mean, it's not the greatest thing that
- 8:26Speaker 1: they do, but they are just air tight on the
- 8:29Speaker 1: back end. There's zones like good luck trying to find
- 8:32Speaker 1: space in their zones to throw the ball. And so
- 8:35Speaker 1: if the Jets can't have better success on the ground
- 8:38Speaker 1: with Michael Carter, we'll see if James Robinson can get
- 8:41Speaker 1: into the flow. If they have trouble just sustaining offense
- 8:45Speaker 1: on the ground, this is gonna be a tough day
- 8:46Speaker 1: because what we saw from Zack Wilson is kind of
- 8:49Speaker 1: what he does when he's under pressure and underdressed. He
- 8:52Speaker 1: plays this helter skelter style of football and he throws
- 8:56Speaker 1: the ball up and you're gonna get a chance for
- 8:58Speaker 1: two or three. The Buffalo Bills just happened, Andrew, I
- 9:01Speaker 1: know you know, this just happened to lead the league
- 9:03Speaker 1: of interceptions right now with eleven. They can't wait for
- 9:05Speaker 1: a couple of gifts on Sunday. It's the key is,
- 9:08Speaker 1: really can the can the Jets maintain some kind of
- 9:12Speaker 1: ball control on the ground and keep it away from
- 9:15Speaker 1: that beautiful offense that the Bills happened And on extended
- 9:19Speaker 1: dropbacks this year, Zach Wilson meaning four seconds or more
- 9:24Speaker 1: when he's running around back there, he has checks the
- 9:27Speaker 1: sets three one, so it has not gone well. Now Conversely,
- 9:32Speaker 1: Josh Allen, when he has time to run around, makes
- 9:34Speaker 1: plays because he has guys like Stefon Diggs. It's a
- 9:36Speaker 1: wal oil machine. Now after a couple of years in
- 9:39Speaker 1: this offense and now with Ken Dorsey take it over,
- 9:41Speaker 1: it's it's an interesting challenge though, Mike with sauce Gardner
- 9:46Speaker 1: and what this Robert Solid defense is gonna throw at him. Well,
- 9:49Speaker 1: you know one thing I observed from being at the
- 9:51Speaker 1: games Sunday with the Patriots and the Jets, sauce Gardner
- 9:53Speaker 1: doesn't even bother getting in the huddle. He's got that
- 9:56Speaker 1: side like you don't have to worry about it. This
- 9:57Speaker 1: is you. You're the guy, um. And when they talk
- 10:00Speaker 1: about him, they just say how much he is come
- 10:03Speaker 1: along here during the course of the year. But the
- 10:05Speaker 1: thing is he started off well right, and now he's
- 10:07Speaker 1: playing at an extremely high level. I think a lot
- 10:09Speaker 1: of people will say he's a top ten corner. Some
- 10:11Speaker 1: might even say he's the top five corner right now,
- 10:13Speaker 1: which is crazy to think, but look, this is how
- 10:16Speaker 1: good he is. His length, his ability is the Patriots
- 10:19Speaker 1: noted to cover smaller guys and stay with them. Um,
- 10:22Speaker 1: his intelligence for the game, that's gonna be on display,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and it's gonna have to be because this passing attack
- 10:27Speaker 1: is elite. UM. Stefon Diggs absolutely destroyed the Packers. The
- 10:31Speaker 1: Packers decided, you know what, we'll have Jaire Alexander cover,
- 10:35Speaker 1: Gabe Davis will work on different bodies against Stefon Diggs. Well,
- 10:39Speaker 1: things goes over a hundred yards again, fifth time this year,
- 10:42Speaker 1: catches a touchdown again. I think that's his seven touchdown
- 10:45Speaker 1: this year and hundred and fifty six point three passer
- 10:48Speaker 1: rating with Alan targeted Stefon Diggs. But here's the thing.
- 10:51Speaker 1: On the other side, DJ Reid has been just as
- 10:53Speaker 1: good as Sauce right right there, right So they've built
- 10:56Speaker 1: this very good defense. Like to me, the Jets defense
- 10:58Speaker 1: is kind of a playoff defense already. It's what can
- 11:01Speaker 1: happen with the quarterback in that offense. But this is
- 11:03Speaker 1: a massive challenge for them. And look, the Bills weren't
- 11:06Speaker 1: really site the way they played that second half against
- 11:08Speaker 1: the Packers, so they'll turn it up. I think for
- 11:10Speaker 1: this one, Baldi, Mike, the Jets are, the Bills are
- 11:13Speaker 1: where the Jets want to get to. I mean, everybody's
- 11:16Speaker 1: looking up at what the Bills have built. So they're
- 11:18Speaker 1: building this thing and the defense is getting better and
- 11:20Speaker 1: they're adding pieces and DJ Read and Sauce are pretty
- 11:24Speaker 1: entrenched there on the edges, and the safeties have been good,
- 11:26Speaker 1: and the pass rush has been really uh you know,
- 11:29Speaker 1: it's it's one a lot of games for him, but
- 11:31Speaker 1: this is a different challenge being able to defend Josh
- 11:33Speaker 1: Allen and finding different ways. You can't just line up
- 11:37Speaker 1: with the same defense and beat Josh Allen and so
- 11:40Speaker 1: you have to account for him every play as a runner.
- 11:42Speaker 1: And the one thing that the Bills are doing this
- 11:44Speaker 1: year with Ken Dorris is the offensive coordinator, is they're
- 11:46Speaker 1: making a commitment to the run. You saw it last
- 11:49Speaker 1: week in the last couple of weeks with Motor single Jerry.
- 11:51Speaker 1: You're seeing it with James White coming off the bench
- 11:53Speaker 1: right now. They are They're committed to a fullback and
- 11:56Speaker 1: a tight end on the field. It's not this spread
- 11:58Speaker 1: offense that we saw with Brian Dable and so it's
- 12:01Speaker 1: morphed a little bit, and I think it's gonna benefit
- 12:04Speaker 1: the Bills. I mean, they ran the wolf twenty seven times.
- 12:06Speaker 1: They threw it twenty seven times last week and that
- 12:08Speaker 1: was enough to put up a big number against the Pack.
- 12:11Speaker 1: And it's just a little bit of advice here for
- 12:13Speaker 1: sauce Gardner, not that he needs it, not that he
- 12:15Speaker 1: would do this, but don't find Stefon digs in the
- 12:18Speaker 1: tunnel pre game and insulted, and Off goes up the
- 12:26Speaker 1: middle and he pulls touchdown. Alexander gives the Vikings twenties
- 12:38Speaker 1: seven g lead. He go ahead touchdown this past Sunday,
- 12:43Speaker 1: as the Vikings go ahead and remind people that they
- 12:47Speaker 1: are six and one and three and oh in the division,
- 12:50Speaker 1: and they have the largest lead of any of the
- 12:54Speaker 1: eight division leaders in the NFL. They have a three
- 12:58Speaker 1: and a half game lead, and they are adding. They
- 13:02Speaker 1: are adding. At the trade deadline, t J. Hawkinson is
- 13:05Speaker 1: going from the Lions, the bottom of the NFC North
- 13:08Speaker 1: to the top of the NFC North and kind of
- 13:10Speaker 1: an odd trade here. It's t J. Hockinson and a
- 13:13Speaker 1: couple of picks for a two and a three. Basically,
- 13:16Speaker 1: the Vikings moved down a couple of picks and a
- 13:20Speaker 1: couple of rounds and they get t J. Hockenson and
- 13:22Speaker 1: the man who gave them their go ahead touchdown last week,
- 13:25Speaker 1: help them beat the Cardinals. Is here on and off day.
- 13:28Speaker 1: He flew all the way to l A. It's great
- 13:31Speaker 1: to have Sander Madison here, who's a southern California native
- 13:34Speaker 1: with us live on the set. How are you, Alexander.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I'm doing good less less awesome to be here, and
- 13:40Speaker 1: it's awesome to have you guys the top of the
- 13:41Speaker 1: division as well. You're coming off the by obviously, and listen,
- 13:44Speaker 1: we talked about the Eagles, we talked about the Bills,
- 13:46Speaker 1: we talked about the Chiefs. We're gonna have Dan Hans,
- 13:48Speaker 1: who's fund to the power rankings a little bit later.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I don't know if you're gonna like where you guys
- 13:52Speaker 1: are in the power rankings. Why can't people look at
- 13:55Speaker 1: the record and go, this is a really, really good team. Honestly,
- 14:01Speaker 1: I don't know. Honestly, I don't know. Do you guys
- 14:03Speaker 1: feel it? We feel it. We feel in that locker room,
- 14:06Speaker 1: and to us, that's all that matters. So the outside noise,
- 14:09Speaker 1: whatever it is, you know, people uh can either recognize
- 14:13Speaker 1: it or not. But we know what we have in
- 14:15Speaker 1: that locker room, you know well, and we'll continue to
- 14:17Speaker 1: demand that respect. You know, it's interesting. The record is
- 14:20Speaker 1: direct six one, five straight all that, but you look
- 14:23Speaker 1: like a well coached team, Like you look like you're
- 14:25Speaker 1: ready for situations. And last week, Alexander, you get five
- 14:29Speaker 1: opportunities in the red zone, you score five times. I
- 14:32Speaker 1: mean that's always the mark of a good team. You
- 14:33Speaker 1: score one. Your quarterback rand for seventeen yards. I mean,
- 14:37Speaker 1: everybody waiting, like accelebrated for Kirk Cousin is what he did.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I don't know how he got there. Yeah, you know,
- 14:42Speaker 1: we're joking. We're calling you know, the real Purple eight,
- 14:45Speaker 1: calling Lamark Peasants, and uh, you know, as you see,
- 14:49Speaker 1: you know, we're able to just continue to come out
- 14:50Speaker 1: and find a way to win, and that's hard to
- 14:52Speaker 1: do in this league. You know, you can always find
- 14:54Speaker 1: a way to lose, but to find a way to
- 14:55Speaker 1: win is something that we really take pride in. And
- 14:58Speaker 1: like you just mentioned, being situational masters and playing really
- 15:00Speaker 1: good situational football. So you know, as as long as
- 15:03Speaker 1: we just continue to do that, continue demand respect. You
- 15:07Speaker 1: told us during the commercial that you were on your
- 15:08Speaker 1: way here to the network in the car when you
- 15:11Speaker 1: learned of the t. J. Hockenson trade. Earlier this morning.
- 15:14Speaker 1: What do you think. I think it's a good move.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I think, you know, for us, you know, unfortunately or
- 15:19Speaker 1: um you know, um I Smith Eric Smith had a
- 15:23Speaker 1: little bit of an ankle injuring the past game. But um,
- 15:27Speaker 1: you know, adding adding fuel to the fire, adding some
- 15:30Speaker 1: more weapons to our arsenal is something that we're doing.
- 15:32Speaker 1: And I think that he's gonna be a great fit
- 15:34Speaker 1: um as we come in and try and get rolling.
- 15:36Speaker 1: And just to be clear, some people have thrown your
- 15:39Speaker 1: name out there last week, the deadlines a couple of
- 15:41Speaker 1: hours away, looking at the clock here, your name out
- 15:44Speaker 1: there in trade talks. Are you hearing anything? Are you good?
- 15:48Speaker 1: I haven't heard anything yet. And you know, you got
- 15:50Speaker 1: a couple of hours till the till the deadline end,
- 15:52Speaker 1: so hopefully, hopefully I don't hear anything. You. So you
- 15:56Speaker 1: started the season off by beating the Packers. You've got
- 15:59Speaker 1: this big advantage right now. Do you feel like you're
- 16:01Speaker 1: the team? I mean obviously the record size, but are
- 16:04Speaker 1: you the new champions of the NFC North right now? Yeah?
- 16:08Speaker 1: I think that you know, it's it's a comfortable spot
- 16:11Speaker 1: for us to say that we have been one of
- 16:15Speaker 1: those teams to continuously fight for that top spot and
- 16:19Speaker 1: for us to be sitting right now at a spot
- 16:20Speaker 1: that we we want to be sitting that we're definitely
- 16:23Speaker 1: not satisfied, but definitely want to take over the North.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Just a year ago on this building right here, Kevin
- 16:27Speaker 1: O'Connell was part of the team that won a Super
- 16:29Speaker 1: Bowl when he came and you're around him now throughout
- 16:32Speaker 1: half the season here. What does he bring to that
- 16:35Speaker 1: locker room, to the practice field, game day on the sideline? Man,
- 16:39Speaker 1: he just he brings that that positive energy, that confidence
- 16:43Speaker 1: that you need. UM, someone that's accountable, UM that holds
- 16:46Speaker 1: himself just as accountable as he holds his players in Uh,
- 16:49Speaker 1: it's paying off Purple Eid. You called Kirk Cousins perfect.
- 16:54Speaker 1: It's a big week for Purple Aid. First trip back
- 16:58Speaker 1: to Washington, his old stomping grounds. Can we put this
- 17:01Speaker 1: chain up here? Because I don't know, I thought this
- 17:03Speaker 1: was a like first this. Yeah, that is what kind
- 17:10Speaker 1: of swag is taken into Washington this week? Oh man,
- 17:14Speaker 1: he's bringing it all um as as you see every
- 17:17Speaker 1: every time he just steps into that locker room, steps
- 17:20Speaker 1: out onto that field, he's bringing a different type of
- 17:23Speaker 1: energy with him, and um, he's getting younger as he
- 17:25Speaker 1: as he ages. Um, you know his lockers next to
- 17:28Speaker 1: JJ's and um, I think he's giving him tips on
- 17:31Speaker 1: how to do the gritty a little bit better. But
- 17:34Speaker 1: other than that, I think he's taking a lot of
- 17:35Speaker 1: different swag points and just you know, being himself and
- 17:38Speaker 1: being fun. Kirk Cousins, tell me about a morpho there
- 17:41Speaker 1: on your sweatshirt while you're here. Yeah, I'm here. You
- 17:43Speaker 1: know we're doing a launch today, launching a new weight
- 17:46Speaker 1: best and um, you know that comes with new new colorways,
- 17:49Speaker 1: new technology as well within the Morpho app. But um,
- 17:53Speaker 1: just really I'm bought into the brand. I'm bought into
- 17:57Speaker 1: the effects of a morpho and how you train with it,
- 18:00Speaker 1: you train anywhere, you train different, and I think it's
- 18:03Speaker 1: helped me become a better well rounded athlete and help
- 18:07Speaker 1: you put together a very good season. Here. Six career
- 18:10Speaker 1: starts for Alexander Madison, uh, four of them with ninety
- 18:15Speaker 1: or more yards, So there's a reason obviously teams might
- 18:17Speaker 1: call the Vikings. But he's going to stay as a
- 18:19Speaker 1: Viking here for the next couple of hours here with
- 18:20Speaker 1: the morphoe as well. Back home in southern California. Alexander,
- 18:23Speaker 1: we love that you're here, especially on game week. You
- 18:26Speaker 1: heard the news earlier about Adams Zimmer. I know you
- 18:28Speaker 1: worked on the offensive side of the ball. Clearly Zim
- 18:30Speaker 1: was your co defensive coordinator. But when you heard that
- 18:34Speaker 1: news this morning, obviously it's shaking the entire organization and
- 18:39Speaker 1: and and everyone around the NFL is obviously sending their
- 18:43Speaker 1: best wishes. Tell tell me your your memories of Adam Zimmer.
- 18:46Speaker 1: You know, just always one of those guys who walk
- 18:49Speaker 1: around and have a positive attitude about him. Um. You know,
- 18:52Speaker 1: he was one that kind of just um, kind of
- 18:56Speaker 1: in his own lane a little bit. But obviously it
- 18:58Speaker 1: was open to cracking jokes and laughing with some of
- 19:00Speaker 1: the guys, which was kind of cool for me to
- 19:01Speaker 1: see from the offensive side of the boss and some
- 19:04Speaker 1: of the different defensive personalities come out. So it really
- 19:08Speaker 1: is a tragedy. And you know, my thoughts and wishes
- 19:11Speaker 1: and prayers are with the Zimmer family. Alexander, can't thank
- 19:14Speaker 1: you enough for being here again. As mentioned midweek on
- 19:17Speaker 1: a game week, congratulations obviously on the earliest success. Best
- 19:21Speaker 1: of luck this week in Washington and moving forward, can't
- 19:24Speaker 1: wait to see the rest of the way. Thank you.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I really appreciate Alexander Madison everyone running back for the
- 19:29Speaker 1: Minnesota Vikings. We mentioned Kirk Cousins. Here is his tweet
- 19:32Speaker 1: um when he learned of Adam Zimmer's passing. Deeply saddened
- 19:35Speaker 1: by the news. Tremendous coach and person had the privilege
- 19:38Speaker 1: of sitting next to him, flying back from games. Learned
- 19:41Speaker 1: so much, praying for the Zimmer family. Adam Zimmer, thirty
- 19:46Speaker 1: eight years old. Perch takes it. He thinks he's back,
- 20:00Speaker 1: He's looking. He is going deep for a J. Brown
- 20:03Speaker 1: who linked football? Take a touchdown and he takes it
- 20:08Speaker 1: away from two defenders. What a A J. Brown? Goes
- 20:12Speaker 1: why to the pot side? Hurts takes the snap, he's back,
- 20:16Speaker 1: he lets to fly. He is going deep and he's
- 20:18Speaker 1: cot roll top a Crown touchdown number two on the day.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts, just throw a strike. Hurts looks he is
- 20:28Speaker 1: going deep down the far side and it is J
- 20:32Speaker 1: Con I'm not a touchdown. Three touchdown passes and they
- 20:40Speaker 1: are undefeating seven or old. Try to make it eight
- 20:43Speaker 1: and oh. As the Philadelphia Eagles traveled to Houston, for
- 20:46Speaker 1: Thursday Night Football to open up week night eight Eastern
- 20:50Speaker 1: time streaming on Prime Video, also available on NFL Plus.
- 20:54Speaker 1: It's a Jalen Hurt's homecoming. It is excited to be
- 21:00Speaker 1: able to go back home and play in front of
- 21:03Speaker 1: the home home crowd, the home um where I'm from.
- 21:08Speaker 1: You know, I think that's exciting. And you know, while
- 21:10Speaker 1: it is exciting, it's now. My process doesn't change. My
- 21:14Speaker 1: mentality doesn't change. Every every week is a business. It's
- 21:18Speaker 1: a business. Troops is It's a business troops, you know,
- 21:21Speaker 1: and as a sound treating this week and nothing changes
- 21:24Speaker 1: with friends and family. James Palmer undoubtedly their Channel View
- 21:28Speaker 1: High School, Channel View, Texas, not far from Houston. After
- 21:32Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts kept his team undefeated and kind of showed
- 21:35Speaker 1: every side of his maturing game this past Sunday, Andrew,
- 21:40Speaker 1: like you said, his maturing game because in that press
- 21:42Speaker 1: conference that I was in just a couple of minutes ago,
- 21:44Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts said, being patient is a big part of
- 21:47Speaker 1: the process, and I'm a living testament to that. We've
- 21:50Speaker 1: seen Jalen Hurts, now in his second year as a starter,
- 21:53Speaker 1: really grow and the patience of the philadelp Eagles appears
- 21:57Speaker 1: to be paying off. He doesn't think of himself as
- 21:58Speaker 1: a dual threat quarterback. He thinks of himself as a
- 22:01Speaker 1: triple threat quarterback. He said he can kill you with
- 22:03Speaker 1: his legs. He's saying, I'll do is he throw the
- 22:05Speaker 1: football on the third one is the part that everybody
- 22:07Speaker 1: in Philadelphia has been kind of waiting to see if
- 22:09Speaker 1: it develops. And that's the mental aspect of the game
- 22:12Speaker 1: and having answers when teams change things up. And he's
- 22:14Speaker 1: seen different defensive approaches towards him and he we've seen
- 22:18Speaker 1: him kind of grow and find those answers. You saw
- 22:21Speaker 1: those three touchdowns from A. J. Brown that he was
- 22:23Speaker 1: not the first read on all of those. And he's
- 22:25Speaker 1: been talking to his wide receivers saying, if I see
- 22:27Speaker 1: something pre snap, be ready. This ball may not be,
- 22:30Speaker 1: you know, pre snap for you, but within the play
- 22:32Speaker 1: it might change to be for you. And the biggest
- 22:34Speaker 1: part of that Andrew that I think stands out is
- 22:36Speaker 1: he had a sixty six point seven pass rating when
- 22:39Speaker 1: he was blitzed in those first six games, and then
- 22:41Speaker 1: in game number seven he goes for a hundred sixty
- 22:44Speaker 1: four yards eleven of eighteen and three touchdowns against the Blitz.
- 22:47Speaker 1: What they're seeing is the balls out of his hand quickly.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I talked to left tackle Joan Jordan Mylotta just a
- 22:52Speaker 1: few minutes ago, and he told me it's just as
- 22:54Speaker 1: an offensive lineman. We can see that he is going
- 22:56Speaker 1: through his progressions quickly. There there there balls out. It
- 22:59Speaker 1: is different than it was a year ago. That's the
- 23:02Speaker 1: added aspect of Jalen Hurts playing the quarterback position very
- 23:05Speaker 1: very high level for the Philadelphia Eagles. And he has
- 23:07Speaker 1: not thrown a pick in his last two games. And
- 23:09Speaker 1: you mentioned a year ago. If you go back to
- 23:12Speaker 1: a year ago, the Eagles have now won fourteen of
- 23:15Speaker 1: the last seventeen games started in the regular season with
- 23:19Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts. Four pm Eastern Time, your trade deadline. Oh,
- 23:25Speaker 1: we have new power rankings here as well. Yeah, we're
- 23:28Speaker 1: the forty diners after their big move and and they're
- 23:32Speaker 1: big win. This might surprise you. That's coming up next.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Trade deadline is eighty minutes away. We have some deals.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Bradley Chubb, the former fifth overall picked, is on the
- 23:50Speaker 1: verge of going from Denver to Miami in exchange for
- 23:52Speaker 1: a one of four and Chase Edmonds. WHOA that is
- 23:58Speaker 1: a lot. We told you a couple of weeks ago
- 23:59Speaker 1: that William Jackson would be on the move. It's finally
- 24:02Speaker 1: gonna go down the corner who has not played since
- 24:04Speaker 1: Week five. From Washington back to the HC North, this
- 24:07Speaker 1: time to Pittsburgh. They're swapping late round picks Chase Claypool
- 24:12Speaker 1: for it too. I don't know about this one. The
- 24:15Speaker 1: Bears are giving up a two there too, not the
- 24:18Speaker 1: Baltimore ro Kuan two to the Steelers for Chase Claypool.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Interesting as is this another in division trade for the Vikings.
- 24:30Speaker 1: They are getting t J. Hockenson from the Lions. It's
- 24:34Speaker 1: Hockinson and a couple of picks for a couple of
- 24:36Speaker 1: Two's kind of complicated, but not really. T J. Hockinson
- 24:40Speaker 1: replaces earth Smith, who the Vikings put on injured reserve. Today,
- 24:44Speaker 1: go to NFL dot Com, as you do every Tuesday,
- 24:47Speaker 1: to check out the brand new power rankings. Z and
- 24:49Speaker 1: hand Zeus puts them together and then he has to
- 24:51Speaker 1: sit here and deal with us explaining them. He also
- 24:54Speaker 1: goes on Good Morning Football for that, though he wears
- 24:56Speaker 1: a hoodie for this, he wears a great suit, Dan,
- 24:58Speaker 1: Great to see you, as always great to see you.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I didn't think about it, and I know I think
- 25:03Speaker 1: it's a great suit. It is, so we're happy with
- 25:05Speaker 1: this suit. They spelled his name wrong on the side. Uh.
- 25:08Speaker 1: The Bills, the Eagles, the Chiefs are still our top three.
- 25:10Speaker 1: We have the Cowboys sitting there at four. There's no
- 25:13Speaker 1: change there. The forty Niners, Dan are your number five
- 25:17Speaker 1: team at a thirty two. They are four and four.
- 25:20Speaker 1: They'd be the seven seed in the NFC right now.
- 25:23Speaker 1: They're the fifth best team in football power rankings, not
- 25:26Speaker 1: power so I know, but defend this one, please. Um.
- 25:29Speaker 1: I believe in San Francisco. I believed in them entering
- 25:31Speaker 1: the season when I had him at number three. Then
- 25:33Speaker 1: you had the quarterback issues that came and they were
- 25:36Speaker 1: struggling with some things. I now feel this team, and
- 25:40Speaker 1: you notice how everyone got very quiet, all the Christian
- 25:42Speaker 1: McCaffrey doubters of that deal very quiet. After he scores
- 25:46Speaker 1: three touchdowns in the hat trick on Sunday. It was
- 25:49Speaker 1: just interesting to me Andrew how much better they were
- 25:51Speaker 1: than the Rams in that game. And I know they're
- 25:53Speaker 1: looking up at Seattle and the standings and I like
- 25:55Speaker 1: the Seahawks too, but I think the Niners are the
- 25:58Speaker 1: best team in this division. I think they're finding their
- 26:00Speaker 1: identity and as long as Jimmy g is protected well,
- 26:03Speaker 1: they are going to move the ball every week with
- 26:05Speaker 1: a very good defense. This is a very good team.
- 26:08Speaker 1: I hear what you're saying, the comparison to the Rams.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I'm just saying comparing them to the rest of the league, like,
- 26:12Speaker 1: for example, the Vikings, Alexander Madison sitting in that chair
- 26:16Speaker 1: an hour ago. They are six and one. They're only
- 26:20Speaker 1: lost was to the Eagles. Yet they're sitting here at
- 26:23Speaker 1: seven behind the Niners in the Ravens. Yeah, I find
- 26:27Speaker 1: the Vikings difficult to trust. Not Alexander Madison as a
- 26:31Speaker 1: person at all. He seems like a great guy. I
- 26:32Speaker 1: met him earlier. But I'm talking about the Vikings because
- 26:36Speaker 1: they do win every week. And I've noticed that Kirk
- 26:38Speaker 1: Cousins is known to be saying things like, yeah, these
- 26:41Speaker 1: are the games we lost last year. I don't know
- 26:43Speaker 1: what the difference is, and it's like, Oh, you didn't
- 26:45Speaker 1: really like your old coach that much. Now they're winning
- 26:48Speaker 1: the games they were losing last year. But they also
- 26:51Speaker 1: they hang they let the opponent hang around every week.
- 26:54Speaker 1: And if you watch the game against Arizona, the way
- 26:56Speaker 1: that the Cardinals shot themselves in the foot over and
- 26:58Speaker 1: over again, I felt like they lost that game more
- 27:01Speaker 1: than the Vikings won it. Props of the Vikings for
- 27:04Speaker 1: their record, but I'm it's a trust issue. I'm just
- 27:07Speaker 1: not there yet. Trust the Niners more well. After they
- 27:09Speaker 1: beat the Commanders this Sunday. If they do, we'll come
- 27:12Speaker 1: back and say, do you like that, and we'll see
- 27:14Speaker 1: how how far they move up. The Bengals are down
- 27:17Speaker 1: five to ten. That did not look like a top
- 27:19Speaker 1: ten team last night to me, but I know Jamaar
- 27:21Speaker 1: Chase certainly factors into this. Seattle and Gino Smith move
- 27:25Speaker 1: up six spots into your top ten. Now, Dan at
- 27:28Speaker 1: number nine, it's time to buy in on the Seahawks
- 27:31Speaker 1: because the Geno situation is what it is. It's this
- 27:34Speaker 1: great surprise in the league that we're all trying to
- 27:37Speaker 1: process in real time because it's not a fluke. It
- 27:40Speaker 1: feels like he's gonna every week give them a competitive
- 27:42Speaker 1: performance and really drive that offense. It's the defense, though,
- 27:45Speaker 1: Andrew in the last three weeks that has really changed things.
- 27:48Speaker 1: They were one of the worst defenses in football early
- 27:51Speaker 1: in the season, and Pete Carr, who by the way,
- 27:54Speaker 1: should be the heavy favorite for Coach of the Year,
- 27:56Speaker 1: has got this team coached up on d Now they
- 27:58Speaker 1: shut down se kwantin company in that game, and again
- 28:02Speaker 1: in a soft middle of the NFL where it's twenty
- 28:05Speaker 1: plus teams that are all kind of hanging around in
- 28:07Speaker 1: the same area, the Seahawks are team I see is
- 28:09Speaker 1: a cut above. That's why they've moved into the top ten.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Love Gino Smith on last week and we said, Gino,
- 28:15Speaker 1: you know that thing from from week one, all all
- 28:17Speaker 1: your critics who wrote you off. And he said, yeah,
- 28:19Speaker 1: but it ain't right back. And I said, do you
- 28:20Speaker 1: plan to right back? And he said, no, Man, the
- 28:24Speaker 1: Seahawks keep on winning. You're talking about the soft middle
- 28:27Speaker 1: of the league here. You were kind of sort of
- 28:29Speaker 1: buying the Raiders last week and thirteen they get shut
- 28:32Speaker 1: out for the first time since, and now they're down
- 28:35Speaker 1: to twenty three. Yeah, that's a Power Rankings trick or
- 28:39Speaker 1: a tell. If you see a team nose dive like that,
- 28:42Speaker 1: it means I got it wrong. I was in on
- 28:44Speaker 1: the Raiders. I thought they were gonna rise up. They
- 28:46Speaker 1: barely beat the Texans last week and then crater at
- 28:49Speaker 1: the super Dome, and I'm like, why did I put
- 28:50Speaker 1: my faith in you? This is sometimes hard, Andrew, And
- 28:54Speaker 1: I'm admitting that infallible, And you know that's pretty magnanimous
- 28:57Speaker 1: of me. I would say, he is, He's a human.
- 29:00Speaker 1: He makes mistakes rarely. However, rarely does he do that.
- 29:04Speaker 1: You can see Dan and hands us from the Power
