Speaker 1: We've got some rivalry matches coming up this Friday for
• 0:02
Speaker 1: volleyball and soccer, both down at BYU Friday night.
• 0:07
Speaker 2: Good luck to those teams.
• 0:09
Speaker 1: Saturday morning, cross-country, Coach Kepler and crew are going to
• 0:12
Speaker 1: be in Oklahoma to run at the Big 12 Championships.
• 0:16
Speaker 1: Wish them, obviously, the best there. And it's hard to
• 0:18
Speaker 1: believe the basketball season's a week away.
• 0:21
Speaker 2: Crazy, right? Men's basketball's already started. They kick off, I think...
• 0:26
Speaker 2: It all starts counting Monday against Long Beach State. They
• 0:28
Speaker 2: had a great win over Oregon.
• 0:30
Speaker 1: Coach Peterson and the women have Eastern Washington next Tuesday.
• 0:33
Speaker 1: So it's almost here. Our recap of the Saturday night game.
• 0:39
  Speaker 2: Fans were awesome.
• 0:40
Speaker 1: Atmosphere is one of the best they've been a part of.
• 0:43
Speaker 1: So I can't thank our fans enough for showing up
• 0:47
Speaker 1: in a big way. The game in and of itself, obviously,
• 0:53
Speaker 1: slow start. Something that we haven't had. I thought we
• 0:57
Speaker 1: drove the ball well at times, but definitely things needed
• 1:03
Speaker 1: to be corrected at halftime and were. Credit to our
• 1:06
Speaker 1: offensive staff for not panicking and working through some stuff.
• 1:11
Speaker 2: 226 yards rushing was huge.
• 1:15
Speaker 1: Devin with 150, and like I said, I was asked
• 1:17
Speaker 1: after the first quarter by Quint Kestnich, you know, is
• 1:21
  Speaker 1: this sustainable?
• 1:23
Speaker 2: I said no, and it was. He kept running.
• 1:27
Speaker 1: But that's not obviously what we want. But, you know,
• 1:32
Speaker 1: Dev's that competitor. I thought Daniel Bray had a, you know,
• 1:35
Speaker 1: for his three carries, averaged 11 yards, really proud of
• 1:38
Speaker 1: Daniel running through the tackles, playing physical. And he got
• 1:44
Speaker 1: every bit out of his three reps. Uh, rush defense
• 1:50
Speaker 1: showed up in a big way, 86 yards rushing to
• 1:52
Speaker 1: a team that had been rushing the ball fairly well. Obviously, uh,
• 1:55
Speaker 1: those wide receivers are dynamic and I thought we, uh,
• 1:59
Speaker 1: did a nice job against them. Uh, the red zone
• 2:02
Speaker 1: defense was again, showed up in a, in a huge way.
• 2:05
Speaker 1: They were one of three in terms of touchdowns, uh,
• 2:08
  Speaker 1: tackling overall.
• 2:10
Speaker 2: I mean, it was just awesome.
• 2:11
Speaker 1: Open field tackling, uh, linebackers, uh, safeties that all did
• 2:15
Speaker 1: a really nice job.
• 2:17
Speaker 2: Um, Noah Benny, five catches.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: For 52 yards and made some guys miss, which is
• 2:22
Speaker 1: a nice thing. His penalty in the end zone is
• 2:26
Speaker 1: the craziest thing I've ever seen. I think he didn't
• 2:28
Speaker 1: know that wasn't his teammate.
• 2:31
Speaker 2: I think he was trying to celebrate. But anyway, we
• 2:34
Speaker 2: love Noah, but we can't have penalties like that. Credit
• 2:38
  Speaker 2: to our D-line.
• 2:39
Speaker 1: I thought we did a really nice job of getting
• 2:41
Speaker 1: pressure on the quarterback, forcing him to throw the ball
• 2:43
Speaker 1: when he didn't want to throw the ball, getting tips,
• 2:46
  Speaker 1: getting deflections.
• 2:47
Speaker 2: Where we needed him. Lance Holtzclaw was all over the field,
• 2:50
  Speaker 2: very active.
• 2:51
Speaker 1: Jai showed up again in a big way. And obviously
• 2:54
Speaker 1: the sack force from Jackson Benny was the big play
• 2:58
Speaker 1: in the game that kind of put us in position
• 3:01
  Speaker 1: to end it.
• 3:04
Speaker 2: So really just proud of the guys for their fight.
• 3:07
Speaker 2: This is one that.
• 3:11
Speaker 1: Really good job in preparation. Colton Swan and McGinn, really
• 3:15
Speaker 1: good game plans. Obviously, defense showed up all night long
• 3:19
Speaker 1: and offense got going.
• 3:20
Speaker 2: In the second half. We've got a great team in
• 3:23
Speaker 2: Cincinnati that we're facing.
• 3:24
Speaker 1: Obviously, they just beat a top 10 program in the country,
• 3:29
Speaker 1: Texas Tech, and they're hosting another one. So it's going
• 3:32
Speaker 1: to be a great environment on Halloween and we're excited
• 3:37
Speaker 1: that we're going to have to be road warriors for
• 3:39
Speaker 1: the next three out of the four weeks that we play,
• 3:42
Speaker 1: and that's something that we're excited about. Their offense is
• 3:48
Speaker 1: humming right now, statistically 20th in the country in total offense,
• 3:52
Speaker 1: 8th in the country, 2nd to West Virginia in the
• 3:54
Speaker 1: Big 12 in terms of rushing offense, so another game
• 3:57
Speaker 1: where we're going to have to be really stout up front.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: They're 22nd in the country in pass efficiency offense with
• 4:03
Speaker 1: a quarterback that's playing really well, confidence. Obviously, Coach Satterfield's
• 4:09
Speaker 1: done a great job bringing in a new quarterback and
• 4:13
Speaker 1: getting him going. He's 15th in the country in completion percentage.
• 4:16
  Speaker 2: He's efficient.
• 4:16
Speaker 1: They don't turn the ball over. They're doing some really
• 4:19
Speaker 1: good things, and they're playing with confidence. They're going to
• 4:20
Speaker 1: be playing at their.
• 4:21
Speaker 2: House, in a packed house. This is a great challenge
• 4:24
Speaker 2: for us. Questions? Who's got it? First off, great win
• 4:30
  Speaker 2: on Saturday.
• 4:31
Speaker 3: With your last four games being the toughest part of
• 4:33
  Speaker 3: your schedule, how.
• 4:33
Speaker 2: Do you keep the team focused? And then one of
• 4:36
Speaker 2: my concerns is I noticed I was in the, in
• 4:38
Speaker 2: the fourth quarter, we lost our composure. So my question is,
• 4:41
Speaker 2: what is the plan moving forward to address the issue?
• 4:43
Speaker 1: Well, um, yeah, guys that, um, start to lose their
• 4:47
Speaker 1: composure that, that don't prove, uh, mature enough to be
• 4:52
Speaker 1: able to handle it. We, we bring out of the
• 4:54
Speaker 1: game and that's what you saw with, uh, you know,
• 4:57
Speaker 1: what was going on there. Ultimately, we got to be
• 4:59
Speaker 1: more mature in that situation, understand the frustrations, but, uh,
• 5:03
Speaker 1: I think our guys do a pretty good job of
• 5:05
Speaker 1: policing themselves. Obviously, the one penalty there in the end
• 5:09
Speaker 1: zone was not malicious. It was really a mix-up, confusing
• 5:15
Speaker 1: thing there. But I thought our guys did a pretty
• 5:18
Speaker 1: good job. And in terms of playing on the road,
• 5:24
Speaker 1: that's adversity that you've got to be able to handle.
• 5:28
Speaker 1: We do everything we can to simulate crowd noise.
• 5:33
Speaker 2: And so I think we prepare our guys.
• 5:36
Speaker 1: We do a pretty good job of preparing our guys,
• 5:38
Speaker 1: but ultimately they've got to show up on game day
• 5:40
Speaker 1: and perform. So I know this is going to be
• 5:42
Speaker 1: an electric atmosphere in Cincinnati, and I know our guys
• 5:46
Speaker 1: are going to be ready for it. We've got sole
• 5:49
Speaker 1: ownership of first place in the Big 12, and you
• 5:52
Speaker 1: have to have a championship mentality of what you have.
• 5:55
Speaker 1: Don't let anyone take away. you know, and our guys
• 5:58
Speaker 1: will be prepared and ready to go. So thanks for
• 6:01
  Speaker 1: that question, brother.
• 6:03
Speaker 3: Morgan, in the fourth quarter, you had kind of that
• 6:08
Speaker 3: firefighter type drill where you were looking to punt and
• 6:10
Speaker 3: then you decided to bring on your offense.
• 6:12
Speaker 2: Was there ever a chance that you were going to
• 6:14
  Speaker 2: go for that?
• 6:14
Speaker 3: Because kind of what led into that moment where just
• 6:17
Speaker 3: kind of trying to bring chaos into their side?
• 6:20
Speaker 1: Well, we didn't really get to see the whole thing
• 6:23
Speaker 1: play out because they blew the whistle.
• 6:26
  Speaker 2: Uh unfortunately the.
• 6:27
Speaker 1: Clock operator had the clock going and so uh i
• 6:33
Speaker 1: mean let's just say maybe we run a play maybe
• 6:37
Speaker 1: we don't yeah no it's the bottom line is you're
• 6:42
Speaker 1: you know you're trying to make sure that you catch
• 6:47
Speaker 1: people off guard you know if they're not ready you
• 6:50
Speaker 1: have an opportunity um but yeah we just that's something
• 6:54
Speaker 1: that we decided we wanted to to try out and
• 6:58
Speaker 1: we didn't unfortunately get to see the end of it.
• 7:01
Speaker 4: You talked a little bit about just Devin running and
• 7:04
Speaker 4: that's something that you kind of want to balance.
• 7:07
Speaker 3: It seems like it unlocked a little bit obviously with
• 7:09
  Speaker 3: non-designed runs on.
• 7:10
Speaker 4: The scramble drill but is there a way that you
• 7:13
Speaker 4: guys want to implement more designed quarterback runs or maybe
• 7:17
Speaker 4: even stuff with Bird just seeing how successful.
• 7:20
Speaker 2: It was on Saturday?
• 7:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, designed QB runs we've got a bunch
• 7:26
Speaker 1: of them And we have some for Bird.
• 7:30
Speaker 2: We also have a very good running back that we
• 7:34
Speaker 2: like to get the ball to.
• 7:37
Speaker 1: Devin's going to end up running just simply because if
• 7:42
Speaker 1: teams are going to crash on the dive.
• 7:44
Speaker 2: In option, he's pulling it. He's taught to pull it.
• 7:47
Speaker 1: And he's smart enough to know, okay, they're going to have.
• 7:54
Speaker 2: Different ways of handling the your read option plays.
• 7:59
Speaker 1: Sometimes you're going to crash with your end and you're
• 8:02
Speaker 1: going to bring that back around on a gap exchange.
• 8:06
Speaker 1: He did a really nice job, as well as our
• 8:08
Speaker 1: offensive line, of seeing that, handling that, and creasing. A
• 8:14
Speaker 1: lot of his yards weren't necessarily Devin saying, I'm going
• 8:16
Speaker 1: to put the team on my back. It's just him
• 8:20
Speaker 1: taking care of his responsibility. But there are those times
• 8:25
Speaker 1: where he does say, I'm I feel I'm the best
• 8:29
Speaker 1: player on the field and I'm going to make this happen.
• 8:32
Speaker 1: And we've got to, you know, when you're playing with
• 8:34
Speaker 1: a guy like that that's so competitive and, you know,
• 8:36
Speaker 1: 90% of the time he's going to be right, it's
• 8:40
Speaker 1: hard to, you know, there's two kinds of players that
• 8:43
Speaker 1: you struggle with. The first is those that never do
• 8:47
Speaker 1: anything that you tell them to do. And then the
• 8:50
Speaker 1: second type are the ones that only can do what
• 8:53
Speaker 1: you tell them to do, meaning they can't ad lib.
• 8:56
Speaker 1: They don't know, okay, I can take a chance here
• 8:59
Speaker 1: based on what I see, based on film study. He's really,
• 9:03
Speaker 1: really smart and we don't want to put the handcuffs
• 9:08
Speaker 1: on if he's going to continue to make plays for us.
• 9:13
Speaker 1: The offense does a really good job of balancing that out.
• 9:16
Speaker 4: On Saturday, you talked about beware of the soothing sounds
• 9:19
Speaker 4: of praise. As a program, how do you make sure
• 9:22
Speaker 4: your players aren't buying into.
• 9:24
Speaker 2: The hype and How do you do that as a program?
• 9:29
Speaker 1: Make sure that they understand what wins and loses football
• 9:32
Speaker 1: games and what's on film, that nothing people say.
• 9:37
  Speaker 2: Determines football games.
• 9:42
Speaker 1: You get teams that have unbelievable big wins, emotional wins,
• 9:47
Speaker 1: and then the next week you have the letdown effect. Again,
• 9:52
Speaker 1: we're just going to continue to preach that every game
• 9:57
Speaker 1: is a championship game.
• 9:58
  Speaker 4: Because....
• 10:00
Speaker 1: It's hard to win. There's parity. You don't know what
• 10:04
Speaker 1: other teams' motivations are. And when teams are playing ranked teams,
• 10:09
Speaker 1: they're going to bring it. They're going to be more excited,
• 10:12
Speaker 1: whatever that is. So we just have to be us,
• 10:16
Speaker 1: and we've got to do it week after week after week,
• 10:18
Speaker 1: day after day after day.
• 10:20
Speaker 2: This is the only game that matters. Coach, I'm curious.
• 10:24
Speaker 3: Devin scores the touchdown to go up seven with just
• 10:27
Speaker 3: over two minutes left. Was it ever a consideration to
• 10:30
Speaker 3: go for two and make it a two-possession game there?
• 10:34
  Speaker 2: No.
• 10:38
Speaker 1: Defense was playing really well. That's not, in my opinion,
• 10:42
Speaker 1: a time to go for two. Others will disagree, but
• 10:50
Speaker 1: with our defense, go ahead, drive the length of the
• 10:52
Speaker 1: field and then have to, if you score, have to,
• 10:54
Speaker 1: you have to get a two point.
• 10:55
Speaker 2: Conversion and then we go into overtime. And it's like, I, I,
• 10:59
Speaker 2: I believe that our guys at that point, obviously.
• 11:02
Speaker 3: Where do you feel your team can improve the most
• 11:05
Speaker 3: between now and the rest of the season?
• 11:08
Speaker 1: Um, there were some things on the offensive line in
• 11:10
Speaker 1: terms of, uh, IDing stunts and some things up front
• 11:14
Speaker 1: that I thought we did a better job of in, uh,
• 11:16
Speaker 1: in the second half.
• 11:18
Speaker 2: Um, We can't turn the ball over. You know, there's
• 11:22
Speaker 2: them taking the ball away, and then.
• 11:23
Speaker 1: There's us turning it over just with bad decision-making, and
• 11:26
Speaker 1: we've had a couple of those. So those are two
• 11:30
Speaker 1: off the top of my head. You know, defensively, communication
• 11:36
Speaker 1: in combo coverages, stuff like that, maybe a little bit
• 11:39
Speaker 1: more disguising what we're doing.
• 11:43
Speaker 2: But, yeah, I mean, it's... Our coach is doing a
• 11:47
Speaker 2: really good job game by game.
• 11:50
Speaker 1: It's just something different that shows up and you just
• 11:52
Speaker 1: try and correct it as you go.
• 11:54
Speaker 5: Morgan, I'm curious your thoughts on Lucas Damsula. He played
• 11:57
Speaker 5: his most snaps of the season versus Houston and he
• 12:01
Speaker 5: had that big stuff on one of their run plays.
• 12:03
Speaker 5: How have you seen him maybe get more comfortable since
• 12:06
Speaker 5: when he stepped on campus to now that it's allowing
• 12:08
Speaker 5: him to have added reps?
• 12:10
Speaker 1: Well, I think he's done a great job of, first
• 12:14
Speaker 1: of all, learning our scheme. Coach Ellis is fantastic with technique.
• 12:22
Speaker 1: He was continually playing with inside hands and vertical leverage.
• 12:26
Speaker 2: The guy's strong as an ox. It just so.
• 12:29
Speaker 1: Happened that we faced a lot of goal line, short
• 12:32
Speaker 1: yardage situations where we needed that strength.
• 12:36
Speaker 2: He showed up in a big way. Really proud of Lucas.
• 12:39
Speaker 3: Morgan, what do you like best about the way your
• 12:41
Speaker 3: front seven is playing right now, best rush defense in
• 12:43
Speaker 3: the Big 12, and what type of challenges does the
• 12:44
  Speaker 3: Cincinnati offensive line.
• 12:46
  Speaker 2: Present this week?
• 12:48
Speaker 1: I would say that I'm most proud of us playing
• 12:50
Speaker 1: with really good technique. Technique is what allows you to win.
• 12:55
Speaker 1: You can just be physically superior to an opponent, but
• 12:59
Speaker 1: really when you're playing good on good, you better have
• 13:02
Speaker 1: fantastic technique. You watch Lance Holtzclaw and how disruptive he
• 13:05
Speaker 1: was it's him taking on tight ends correctly with inside hands,
• 13:12
  Speaker 1: getting knocked.
• 13:13
Speaker 2: Back, knocking off pullers.
• 13:15
Speaker 1: So the technique that our guys, our coaches, are holding
• 13:19
Speaker 1: our guys accountable to, that's what's allowing them to play
• 13:22
  Speaker 1: so well.
• 13:23
Speaker 2: The effort is there. They're relentless to the football. You
• 13:27
  Speaker 2: look at.
• 13:30
Speaker 2: Let's see. There was a deep pass to zero.
• 13:36
  Speaker 4: And.
• 13:37
Speaker 2: Rabbit Evans runs it down.
• 13:39
Speaker 1: If Rabbit Evans doesn't take off once he sees that,
• 13:43
Speaker 1: the guy scores a touchdown. He takes off, tackles him,
• 13:47
Speaker 1: and then I believe, I don't know if it was
• 13:49
Speaker 1: three plays later, they're forced to kick a field goal.
• 13:51
Speaker 1: I mean, that's huge. And you've got to go back
• 13:55
Speaker 1: to that. You've got to promote it. And your guys
• 13:57
Speaker 1: have to see how valuable that is. Okay, that wasn't
• 14:02
Speaker 1: my mistake. That wasn't my guy. But I'm going to
• 14:04
Speaker 1: take off and I'm going to go. And he makes
• 14:06
Speaker 1: that tackle, and, you know, they don't get seven. So
• 14:10
Speaker 1: I think that happened somewhere else in the game, maybe
• 14:13
Speaker 1: with the quarterback. But that's just so important, and it's
• 14:16
Speaker 1: a huge part of the game that if you don't
• 14:19
Speaker 1: focus on, that is a touchdown. So really proud of
• 14:23
Speaker 1: those guys. What was the background to your question?
• 14:27
Speaker 2: Very athletic. Very sound, well-taught. You know, I.
• 14:35
Speaker 2: And they get after it. They're a physical bunch.
• 14:37
Speaker 1: So, you know, the challenge is no different than any
• 14:41
Speaker 1: physical front that you play is can you play with
• 14:44
  Speaker 1: better technique?
• 14:45
Speaker 2: Can you match that intensity? You know, they don't do
• 14:49
Speaker 2: it a lot in terms of tails and stuff.
• 14:53
Speaker 1: You give stuff away. So you just got to get
• 14:55
Speaker 1: on good and here we go. Who's going to play
• 14:57
  Speaker 1: with better technique?
• 15:00
  Speaker 2: How did.
• 15:01
Speaker 3: How did Houston limit Weishan in the run game and
• 15:05
Speaker 3: what do you have to do figuring you'll see more of.
• 15:07
Speaker 1: That down the road? A lot of it was they
• 15:11
Speaker 1: wanted to crash down. They were like, okay, Weishan's not
• 15:14
  Speaker 1: going to beat.
• 15:17
  Speaker 4: Us.
• 15:18
Speaker 2: What you have to do.
• 15:19
Speaker 1: Is maybe some different things in terms of disguising how
• 15:24
Speaker 1: you're going to run the ball, some more gap scheme
• 15:28
Speaker 1: stuff that's not necessarily a QB pull or an option read,
• 15:33
Speaker 1: but they were basically saying, we want him to pull it,
• 15:37
Speaker 1: we want him to pitch it, and Devin was doing
• 15:40
Speaker 1: a really good job of making that work.
• 15:43
Speaker 3: Morgan, on that Houston touchdown drive, it took Houston, they
• 15:46
Speaker 3: got to the 14-yard line, and then it took them
• 15:49
Speaker 3: nine plays to actually get it into the end zone.
• 15:52
Speaker 3: As a coach who talks about your culture all the time,
• 15:55
Speaker 3: being relentless, Was that a moment where they're coming off
• 15:57
Speaker 3: the field that you're proud of the fight that they
• 15:59
  Speaker 3: put up?
• 16:00
  Speaker 2: Oh, no question.
• 16:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, but again, look at the film. It's guys playing
• 16:05
Speaker 1: with great technique, coming off the ball. You get in
• 16:08
Speaker 1: the red zone, and you have to play on their
• 16:10
Speaker 1: side of scrimmage. And at times, you're going to have
• 16:16
Speaker 1: to take chances. That's why you see so often in football, in.
• 16:22
  Speaker 2: The red zone.
• 16:23
Speaker 1: you know tight ends wide open because you took a
• 16:26
Speaker 1: chance there's a pop pass or you know stuff like
• 16:28
Speaker 1: that but you know uh really proud of our guys
• 16:31
Speaker 1: they they knew that this was going to be a
• 16:34
Speaker 1: battle this was a complete team that we were playing
• 16:37
  Speaker 1: and and and.
• 16:38
Speaker 2: They brought it so great job by those guys we're
• 16:41
  Speaker 2: gonna in that.
• 16:42
Speaker 3: First half the right side of your offensive line was
• 16:44
Speaker 3: kind of not handling the pressure as well what changed
• 16:47
Speaker 3: in the second half that allowed you to kind of
• 16:49
Speaker 3: stabilize that and allow the offense to function a little
• 16:51
  Speaker 3: bit better?
• 16:52
  Speaker 2: Just better communication.
• 16:53
Speaker 1: Better communication from the offensive line, the tight ends. There
• 16:58
Speaker 1: were a couple times in the first half where we
• 17:00
Speaker 1: flipped protections where we shouldn't have, and that's going to
• 17:03
Speaker 1: cause free hitters to come. Much better communication in the
• 17:08
Speaker 1: second half. That's another group, man, right there. Watch that
• 17:12
Speaker 1: film and watch them finish. Watch them push our running
• 17:15
Speaker 1: backs forward, our wide receivers forward, run down the field.
• 17:19
Speaker 2: I love that crew. The old block is doing a
• 17:22
  Speaker 2: really nice job.
• 17:23
Speaker 3: Morgan, Kelvin Obot was listed as out.
• 17:28
Speaker 1: I'm just curious, how is he progressing in week two
• 17:31
Speaker 1: of the injury, and do you have a timetable on.
• 17:33
Speaker 2: When he might return? No timetable.
• 17:35
Speaker 1: He's not out for the season. But we're still getting
• 17:38
Speaker 1: a second opinion on things. Just to give him options
• 17:45
Speaker 1: as to what he.
• 17:45
Speaker 2: Wants to do. There is a possibility.
• 17:48
Speaker 1: That he could be done for the season, depending on
• 17:50
Speaker 1: what that opinion comes back as, but for right now,
• 17:54
Speaker 1: there's still a possibility he plays.
• 17:55
Speaker 4: Obviously, you guys do so much with film watching and
• 18:00
Speaker 4: the eye test, but I'm curious, analytically and statistically, what
• 18:04
Speaker 4: are some of the stats that are predictive of success.
• 18:10
Speaker 2: That you use a lot in your programs? Okay, so
• 18:16
Speaker 2: you want to win? Score points.
• 18:18
Speaker 1: Scoring offense is always going to be one of the
• 18:20
Speaker 1: top statistics. Scoring defense, conversely, right?
• 18:27
  Speaker 2: Rush defense.
• 18:29
Speaker 1: Rush offense, interestingly enough, doesn't show up as a big
• 18:36
Speaker 1: stat for your top teams in the country. Now, yards
• 18:40
Speaker 1: per rush, different story. So are you rushing the ball efficiently?
• 18:44
Speaker 1: Same thing, passing the ball. Are you passing the ball efficiently? Uh,
• 18:48
Speaker 1: passing yards that, that will never, uh, show up. I mean,
• 18:53
Speaker 1: it rarely shows up in your top programs, turnover margin.
• 18:57
  Speaker 1: They're really good at it. I think they're 14th in
• 18:58
Speaker 1: the country and they're not turning the ball over and
• 19:01
Speaker 1: then conversely taking the ball away. So that shows up, uh,
• 19:05
Speaker 1: punt return yards. That's the number one special team statistic
• 19:08
Speaker 1: that you look at. Uh, probably because you're forcing teams
• 19:14
Speaker 1: to punt the ball, but also you're flipping the field
• 19:16
Speaker 1: in terms of the yards that you're gaining. So punt
• 19:18
Speaker 1: return yards shows up. A good amount of them, when
• 19:25
Speaker 1: you look at it, really are on the defensive side
• 19:27
Speaker 1: of the ball. That's why playing great defense is so
• 19:30
Speaker 1: huge in protecting the football. Chunk yardage plays shows up
• 19:36
Speaker 1: quite a bit. But we'll have to sit down, Joe.
• 19:38
Speaker 1: I've got a nice little sheet. that I can show
• 19:41
Speaker 1: you from studying the top teams in college football over
• 19:45
Speaker 1: the last 20 years.
