- 0:01Speaker 1: A candy maker in Indiana wanted to produce a candy
- 0:04Speaker 1: that would be a witness, so he made the Christmas
- 0:07Speaker 1: candy cane Hello, I'm ron Edwards on today's page from
- 0:12Speaker 1: the average notebook. The candymaker began with a stick of
- 0:15Speaker 1: pure white hard candy to symbolize the virgin birth and
- 0:18Speaker 1: sinless nature of Jesus. Candy maker made the candy in
- 0:21Speaker 1: the form of a jay to represent the name of Jesus,
- 0:24Speaker 1: who came to earth as our savior. It also represented
- 0:28Speaker 1: the staff of the good shepherd, who reaches down into
- 0:30Speaker 1: the ditches of the world to lift out the fallen
- 0:33Speaker 1: lambs that have gone astray. Realizing his candy was very plain,
- 0:37Speaker 1: the candymaker stated with red stripes to symbolize the scourging
- 0:41Speaker 1: Jesus received by which we are all healed. The large
- 0:44Speaker 1: red stripe was for the blood shed by Jesus on
- 0:48Speaker 1: the cross so that we could have the promise of
- 0:50Speaker 1: eternal life. Unfortunately, the candy became known only as a
- 0:54Speaker 1: candy cane, a meaningless decoration seen at Christmas time, but
- 0:58Speaker 1: the meaning is still there for those who have eyes
- 1:00Speaker 1: to see and ears to hear. I pray that this
- 1:03Speaker 1: symbol will again be used to witness the wonder of
- 1:06Speaker 1: Jesus and his great love that came down to us
- 1:09Speaker 1: remained the ultimate and dominant force in the universe to
- 1:13Speaker 1: day and forever. Merry Christmas and may God bless every one.
