0:01
SPEAKER_00: Romans three.
0:02
SPEAKER_00: So do Jews have anything that others don't have?
0:08
SPEAKER_00: Do they get any benefit from being circumcised?
0:13
SPEAKER_00: Yes, the Jews have many benefits.
0:16
SPEAKER_00: The most important one is this.
0:19
SPEAKER_00: God trusted the Jews with his teachings.
0:23
SPEAKER_00: It is true that some Jews were not faithful to God, but that will stop God from doing what he promised?
0:34
SPEAKER_00: No, even if everyone else is a liar, God will always do what he says.
0:42
SPEAKER_00: As the scriptures say about him, you will be proved right in what you say and you will win when people accuse you.
0:58
SPEAKER_00: When we do wrong, that shows more clearly that God is right.
1:03
SPEAKER_00: So can we say that God does wrong when he punishes us?
1:08
SPEAKER_00: That is the way some people think.
1:11
SPEAKER_00: Of course not.
1:13
SPEAKER_00: If God could not punish us, how could he judge the world?
1:18
SPEAKER_00: Someone might say When I lie, it really gives God glory because my lie makes his truth easier to see.
1:32
SPEAKER_00: So why am I judged a sinner?
1:36
SPEAKER_00: It would be the same to say we should do evil so that good will come.
1:44
SPEAKER_00: Many people will criticize us saying that's what we teach.
1:51
SPEAKER_00: They're wrong and they should be condemned for saying that.
1:56
SPEAKER_00: All people are guilty.
1:59
SPEAKER_00: So are we Jews better than other people?
2:03
SPEAKER_00: No, we already said that those who are Jews as well as those who are not Jews are the same.
2:13
SPEAKER_00: They are guilty of sin, as the scriptures say.
2:18
SPEAKER_00: There is no one doing what is right, not even one.
2:23
SPEAKER_00: There is no one who understands.
2:26
SPEAKER_00: There is no one who is trying to be with God.
2:30
SPEAKER_00: They've all turned away from him, and now they are no use to anyone.
2:38
SPEAKER_00: There is no one who does good, not even one.
2:42
SPEAKER_00: Psalm fourteen verses one through three.
2:48
SPEAKER_00: Their words come from mouths that are open graves.
2:52
SPEAKER_00: They use their lying tongues to deceive others.
2:56
SPEAKER_00: Psalm five verse nine.
3:00
SPEAKER_00: Their words are like the poison of snakes.
3:05
SPEAKER_00: Psalm one forty verse three.
3:09
SPEAKER_00: Their mouths are cursing and angry words.
3:14
SPEAKER_00: Psalm ten verse seven.
3:18
SPEAKER_00: They're always ready to kill someone.
3:21
SPEAKER_00: Everywhere they go, they cause trouble and ruin.
3:25
SPEAKER_00: They don't know how to live in peace.
3:29
SPEAKER_00: Isaiah fifty nine verses seven and eight.
3:34
SPEAKER_00: They have no fear or respect for God.
3:38
SPEAKER_00: Psalm thirty six verse one.
3:42
SPEAKER_00: What the law says is for those who are under the law, it stops anyone from making excuses, and it brings the whole world under God's judgment because no one can be made right with God by following the law.
4:01
SPEAKER_00: The law only shows us our sin.
4:06
SPEAKER_00: But God has a way to make people right, and it has nothing to do with the law.
4:14
SPEAKER_00: He has now shown us that with a new way, which the law and the prophets told us about.
4:24
SPEAKER_00: God makes people right through their faith in Jesus Christ.
4:30
SPEAKER_00: He does this for all who believe in Christ.
4:35
SPEAKER_00: Everyone is the same.
4:38
SPEAKER_00: All have sinned and are not good enough to share God's divine greatness.
4:44
SPEAKER_00: They are all made right with God by His grace.
4:48
SPEAKER_00: This is a free gift.
4:50
SPEAKER_00: They are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ.
4:58
SPEAKER_00: God gave Jesus as a way to forgive people's sins through their faith in him.
5:06
SPEAKER_00: God can forgive them because the blood sacrifice of Jesus pays for their sins.
5:14
SPEAKER_00: God gave Jesus to show that he has always done what is right and fair.
5:22
SPEAKER_00: He was right in the past when he was patient and did not punish people for their sins.
5:29
SPEAKER_00: And in our own time, he still does what is right.
5:34
SPEAKER_00: God worked all this out in a way that allows him to judge people fairly and still make right any person who has faith in Jesus.
5:46
SPEAKER_00: So now do we have any reason to boast about ourselves?
5:52
SPEAKER_00: No reason at all.
5:54
SPEAKER_00: And why not?
5:56
SPEAKER_00: Because we are depending on the way of faith, not on what we have done in following the law.
6:04
SPEAKER_00: I mean we are made right with God through faith, not through what we have done to follow the law.
6:12
SPEAKER_00: This is what we believe.
6:15
SPEAKER_00: God is not only the God of the Jews, he is also the God of those who are not Jews.
6:22
SPEAKER_00: So there is only one God.
6:25
SPEAKER_00: He will make the Jews right with him by their faith, and he will also make the non Jews right with them through their faith.
6:34
SPEAKER_00: So do we destroy the law by following the way of faith?
6:39
SPEAKER_00: Not at all.
6:40
SPEAKER_00: In fact, faith causes us to be what the law actually wants.
