- 0:01Hello, welcome to He's Hop and something's off of me, Just Joey
- 0:04TI had a very pleasant time setting up for the podcast
- 0:09tonight because I got and stuck my not my toe.
- 0:14But I was walking to the coffee table in my living room to get
- 0:18something, and it's got four really thin metal legs on each
- 0:22corner. And I spilled a glass of water
- 0:27and I was cleaning it up. So I was like rushing.
- 0:29And I stubbed. Not stubbed, but I ram the one
- 0:36leg of the table between my big toe and the toe next to it.
- 0:42So this thin metal rod basically got jammed between.
- 0:48I didn't even know what you call that gap, that gap between your
- 0:51big toe and the toe next to it with a lot of force.
- 0:54But I was like, rushing. The water was everywhere.
- 0:56I was spilling out to the rug and everything.
- 0:58That hurt. I think stubbing your toe might
- 1:00hurt more. Stubbing your little toe always
- 1:02hurts a lot. But like, yeah, that was.
- 1:05I was limping for about an hour. I usually eat dinner at the
- 1:10coffee table. I have a giant dining table.
- 1:13You can sit like eight people in it.
- 1:16But I I used to eat on the dining table, but I'm very used
- 1:22to watching TV when I'm eating. So David Lam, when he comes
- 1:27over, we'll both eat at the coffee table.
- 1:31We rarely eat at the dining table.
- 1:33And he started sitting on the floor, not on the couch, to eat
- 1:38because it's like a more comfortable hype because the
- 1:40coffee table's very low. So I now do that.
- 1:43I will. I have my food on like the
- 1:46coffee table in front of the massive TV and I will sit on the
- 1:50floor, legs like under the coffee table and then I'll eat.
- 1:54It's very, very comfortable. So thanks David Lamb for that
- 1:58tip. One thing I saw today at the gym
- 2:03that I found very interesting is there was a dog at the gym.
- 2:07Someone had a dog, like a little dog, a poodle or something in a
- 2:13stroller for. I know do they make strollers
- 2:17for dogs. But it was like this little
- 2:19stroller and the dog was in it. And I was on this machine, on
- 2:24this bicep machine and right in front of me, like on the other
- 2:27side of it was like a bunch of equipment.
- 2:29So I was like on this machine. And then I don't know where this
- 2:32stroller comes by. This woman is pushing it.
- 2:34It's got this like white poodle in it and she like, goes up to
- 2:39like a piece of equipment. She's like with her friend and
- 2:41they're both working out. And I'm like, I don't know
- 2:43whether to like, I didn't really know what to think of the
- 2:49situation. I probably seen more weird
- 2:52things at the gym. But it was like one part of me
- 2:55was thinking, do you really need your dog with you to go to the
- 3:01gym? Maybe it's a service animal.
- 3:03I guess the service animals they always have like a very obvious
- 3:08fest or thing they wear that saves and giant litters like
- 3:11service animal don't pet or at least in the airport that the
- 3:16animals that work at the airport like sniffing drugs or guns or
- 3:19whatever it always they they're always like label.
- 3:21But this dog didn't have any obvious service dog markings on
- 3:25it so maybe it was a emotional support.
- 3:29I mean there's so many. Every dog is an emotional
- 3:32support dog for animal these days, right?
- 3:35Because we kept on hearing, at least during the pandemic, about
- 3:38all these emotional support animals that people were
- 3:42bringing onto airplanes. Not just dogs, but like cats or
- 3:48birds or whatever. I don't remember all of them.
- 3:50And I think I just read there's some airline in the US that's
- 3:53clamping down on having emotional support animals in the
- 3:58cabin now. I think they might have like
- 4:00just banned all of them. And it has to be like a proper
- 4:03certified service dog for that animal to be or a service animal
- 4:09for that animal to actually be in the cabin with a passenger.
- 4:12But yeah, it was like, I was like, yeah, I I took a couple
- 4:16photos. I was like, I don't know, it
- 4:18seems a little weird. I I guess she needs the dog to
- 4:21be there. But like honestly, the dog
- 4:23wasn't doing anything. The dogs were not helping her.
- 4:25But her lap pull downs, Let's put it that way for sure.
- 4:29All right? I know I talked about a lot.
- 4:31I talked a lot about the gym last time.
- 4:33So I'm not gonna like, go into the gym or anything.
- 4:39I'm gonna, I'm spreading out my gym stories and my opinions and
- 4:46thoughts on the gym. So I'll save more of that for
- 4:50next time. There is someone from my gym
- 4:54that just messaged me on Grinder, actually.
- 4:58And it's like a little bit awkward sometimes when someone
- 5:03you see all the time, maybe you don't talk to me, you don't know
- 5:07one. But like if you go to the gym or
- 5:09like a coffee shop or wherever often enough and you keep on
- 5:12seeing the same people, right, you, you get like, no Of them.
- 5:15It's like, Oh yeah, that person goes to my gym or that person
- 5:17goes to my coffee shop or whatever.
- 5:19So this person just messaged me on Grinder, and for me, Grinder.
- 5:26Let's just break this down for me, Grinder.
- 5:29I am not mainly using it to hook up, to be really, really honest.
- 5:34I'm like window shopping on Grinder, not messaging anyone
- 5:40like literally just for fun. I just like to see where are all
- 5:44the thirsty gays that are within like 5000 feet or a mile of me
- 5:50or whatever. So I have it.
- 5:52I don't message people a lot because I'm not usually like,
- 5:58looking to hook up. I just have it.
- 6:00I'm probably on Grinder every single day, but I'm not
- 6:03messaging people 99% of the time.
- 6:06So people might message me and usually I don't respond.
- 6:10If it's like a random person, I don't know who that person is
- 6:13because I know a lot of people do use Grinder to hook up.
- 6:16They're messaging someone because you know they want to
- 6:19hook up with them. So usually I don't respond, and
- 6:24once in a while you get someone that gets mad at you on Grinder
- 6:28for not responding. It's like the 1% of the time,
- 6:33but I've been gay long enough and I've used Grinder and tech
- 6:39and stuff. These apps were long enough to
- 6:40know that. Here's a tip.
- 6:42If if someone doesn't reply to you on Grinder, like don't keep
- 6:46messaging them like you messaged them once.
- 6:50If they don't reply, just move on.
- 6:53It's what I do like. There's there's no sense in
- 6:55saying hi to the same person, like maybe like a second time.
- 6:59I've had times where, especially when I'm traveling, I'm out of
- 7:03town and I'll see who's on wherever I'm traveling and I
- 7:06message someone and then maybe they don't reply, so I don't try
- 7:10to message them again right away.
- 7:12But maybe a year later or I've gone a different phone or
- 7:17whatever, and I traveled back to that place and I had no
- 7:23recollection of messaging this person before.
- 7:25Maybe like their photo is changed.
- 7:27It's been so long ago, I was just in town for like a few
- 7:29days, whatever. Then that's where maybe I might
- 7:32message someone multiple times, but I'm not going to, like
- 7:35message the same person multiple times, like within the week or
- 7:40whatever. Someone that I know I've
- 7:41messaged before, I'm not going to like probably message them
- 7:43again. So that's when they sometimes I
- 7:45don't get if someone doesn't message you back on Grinder,
- 7:49just like block them if you want.
- 7:51I feel like a block is not a slap in the face on Grinder
- 7:55because it just kind of cleans up your grid a little bit
- 7:59because you message someone they're not messaging back.
- 8:02Sometimes you get the receipts and sometimes someone just leave
- 8:05you on red. Whatever.
- 8:06Like don't take a grinder. It's not serious.
- 8:09It's just it's literally just a grinder.
- 8:11It's, you know it's not the end of the world.
- 8:13Some that doesn't message you back, but blocking is not like a
- 8:16slap in the face, so go away to clean up your grid.
- 8:20If you know someone is not going to reply back to you, leave you
- 8:23in red. Just block them.
- 8:24Get them off your grid. You get to serve a you know you
- 8:27free up your grid for other guys that you might have a chance
- 8:30with or you might be able to connect with it.
- 8:32So someone who you message and don't reply back, right.
- 8:35This person for my gym. OK so because this is someone at
- 8:41my gym that I see all the time, I like replied back.
- 8:46He's got like he like like 80% of guys on grinder.
- 8:51He's got like the headless torso pig which is completely fine,
- 8:54Like I I I'm not we'll get into pictures later, but like that's
- 8:57not a problem for me. But like he like he sent the
- 9:00photo and he said hi. So I clicked on the message and
- 9:04like I said that and I saw his face.
- 9:05It's like, OK in my head I'm thinking, OK you go to my gym, I
- 9:09recognize your face for sure. So I because he goes to my gym,
- 9:15that's why I said hi. And like, you know, it was fine.
- 9:18He just said like, oh what you doing?
- 9:19Blah blah blah. And then he asked, oh, are you
- 9:22like are you looking? And I said sorry, I'm not.
- 9:26And if if I message someone and they reply back but they're not
- 9:31looking for whatever reason, I don't expect everyone to be
- 9:34looking all the time because I'm not looking all the time.
- 9:36So if I message someone even if I am looking and I asked are you
- 9:40looking? And they said they're not, I'd
- 9:42be like whatever, cool. Like I don't like I'll move on
- 9:46like it's what else you know this person though, like he
- 9:53asked me are you looking? And I said, well he asked me
- 9:55what I was doing and I said like, oh, I'm just working on
- 9:56some stuff at home. And then he asked are you like
- 10:00looking by any chance? And I said sorry, I'm not And
- 10:03then I thought that was like it, right?
- 10:05But he he replied and I'm going to read to you his reply.
- 10:09So he replied. I said sorry now he said LOL.
- 10:14Of course you're not. Not sure why I even message
- 10:17trying to be nice I guess, but what's the point of seeing all
- 10:21that stuff? But if someone telling someone's
- 10:23telling you they're not looking, just be like just just take it
- 10:29and leave, it's not a problem. Like it's not anything against
- 10:32you. Like, I'm literally not looking.
- 10:34If I was saying no for other reasons, like because of your
- 10:38looks, then honestly, I just wouldn't have replied at all.
- 10:42Like if someone sends me a message and it sends me photos
- 10:46from themselves and like, I'm not, I don't find that person
- 10:49attractive, I'm not sexually attractive to them.
- 10:51I just won't reply. Like, that's just me.
- 10:55And like I feel like that's what I get from other people when I
- 10:58message them if they're not feeling for whatever reason
- 11:01looks so subjective. Like you know I'm don't expect
- 11:03everyone to find me hot and I don't expect everyone to be
- 11:07sexually attractive to me just cuz I messaged them like it's a
- 11:09it's a two way street so find it weird that this person has this
- 11:14response LOL. Of course you're not not sure
- 11:17why even message trying to be nice I guess.
- 11:19So for me that's like well I said hi to you.
- 11:22I don't. Maybe I'll miss him back later,
- 11:24but after the podcast, like, I missed them because I wouldn't
- 11:27want to be awkward. But there's one other person
- 11:30from my gym that also just like someone.
- 11:35I see a gym all the time. Like I've never talked to that
- 11:37person. I don't know each other.
- 11:38Again, when I go to a gym, I don't socialize.
- 11:40I see people all the time that are regulars, but I don't go
- 11:42with them and I never talk to them.
- 11:44One other person that's messaged me on Grinder before and like, I
- 11:49I I'm not like attracted to him in that way.
- 11:51So he's got like a faceless profile.
- 11:54So he sent the photo, I clicked on the message to to see who it
- 11:57is and I just like never replied because again, like if I am, I'm
- 12:01not feeling it. Like, I just usually just do
- 12:04that. I don't think it's awkward
- 12:06between me and him at the gym because again, I don't talk to
- 12:09him in the gym earbuds and I'm just working out.
- 12:12Like, I I literally don't talk to anyone.
- 12:14But like, maybe it's in my head. I swear, sometimes he gives me
- 12:18slightly weird looks. I don't know if he's just like
- 12:22awkward or like, he's looking at me because, like, he messaged me
- 12:25and like, I left him on red technically and like, I just
- 12:28pretend like nothing's happened. Honestly, I I I wouldn't mind
- 12:34completely serious. Like, I wouldn't mind actually
- 12:36like being friends with some of the people, like, at the gym,
- 12:39even if it's just like the only time we socialize is at the gym.
- 12:43I'm not like against that. So that's kind of sort of why I
- 12:46like OK, just a regular I see at the gym he's mentioned me on
- 12:50Grinder. I'm not just, I'm like assuming
- 12:52he's just looking at me like a piece of meat.
- 12:54He just wants to hook up. So you know, it was like very
- 12:57like nice polite conversation up until he replies with all of
- 13:01that. So I guess I learned my lesson.
- 13:03Just not don't don't talk to anyone at the gym on Grinder
- 13:09because you get and I'm like this guy.
- 13:11Honestly. Like when you say stuff like
- 13:14that even if that person might be interested in you when you
- 13:16say stuff like oh not sure why even bother like of course
- 13:20you're not interested blah blah blah.
- 13:21It's like that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
- 13:24Like if if you're going to message someone on Grinder like
- 13:27they're say and they you're asking them are you looking and
- 13:30they politely say sorry, I'm not just it's just take it and move
- 13:35on like they're not. It's not.
- 13:37It's nothing personal. Like nothing on Grinders person
- 13:38unless someone's literally like making fun of you or attacking
- 13:41you or whatever or saying something rude, like kind of
- 13:44just Grinder guys chillax. So yeah, so I am on Grinder.
- 13:50I'm not looking most of the time.
- 13:53Yeah, I think I've mentioned this before in the podcast, but
- 13:55like when I'm at home, like I I I'd much rather be doing
- 13:59anything else but like just hooking up with random guys.
- 14:01Like I'm I'm working on this podcast.
- 14:03I've got the side hustles going, even I'm jobless.
- 14:06I don't have a day job right now.
- 14:07And I have enough activities and hobbies and other things to do
- 14:11to, like, fill my day to the point where like, I don't feel
- 14:14like I need to, you know, like hook up all the time.
- 14:18Like, there are people that hook up all the time.
- 14:20Like, that's great, You know? Just me personally, I'm not
- 14:23usually looking to hook up some guys.
- 14:25I guess just can't see that. Not every gay guy in West
- 14:29Hollywood looking to hook up all the time, like all day, every
- 14:32day. Yeah, But anyways, I'm just
- 14:35reminds of a story of what This is a long time ago.
- 14:40This is story time with Joey. This is a story that I don't
- 14:43think many people know about and it's kind of hilarious.
- 14:47So I was in Singapore on a work trip.
- 14:51This is many years ago. I was on the work trip in
- 14:53Singapore and I was bored and I was horny and I was looking.
- 15:00So I was on Grinder, like one of the apps, whatever it is, and
- 15:04there was this guy on this profile we started messaging and
- 15:09the best thing I could describe is he looks a little itsy, bit
- 15:13like Prince. The profile photo is someone
- 15:17that semi kind of sort of resembles Prince Harry, so blah
- 15:24blah blah. We decided to like, meet up.
- 15:27He said, oh, there's like this, like hostile that he knows
- 15:31someone that works there. He can like get a room.
- 15:34I know this are really sketchy and risky for people who are not
- 15:37used to hooking up, but just bear with me for the story.
- 15:40I took a Uber, set the train, for whatever reason, I guess it
- 15:45was a night, took an Uber to the address.
- 15:48And as the car, like, pulled up to the address, there was like
- 15:53someone, like standing on the curb, kind of sort of like
- 15:55waiting for someone to arrive. And I was in the backseat of the
- 15:59car on the curbside, and the car had like, was slowing down,
- 16:04pulled past this person standing on the curb and then stopped
- 16:07maybe like 10 or 15 feet past that person.
- 16:13And I was like, oh, that's curious.
- 16:15Someone, that's someone just like standing there like that,
- 16:17like looking at the car. So I got out of the car and
- 16:21like, he comes up to me and it's like, are you Joey?
- 16:24And then this person, it does not look like the photos.
- 16:30This is the key part. The person did not look like the
- 16:32photo. So this is like a catfish type
- 16:35of a situation I guess, or whatever the technical term is.
- 16:40So like I was a little bit like, but trying to be like really
- 16:45polite and kind of trying to whatever.
- 16:48It was awkward for me and I was like, I don't know what to do.
- 16:49I was getting nervous. And then he's like, yeah, blah,
- 16:52blah, blah. He's like, so, like, this is
- 16:55like the hostile place right here.
- 16:58It's like, do you wanna like, do you wanna do it?
- 17:00I'm like, yeah, I'm like, OK, But I was like, it was awkward
- 17:03to, like, just reject someone right in front of their face,
- 17:06like, you know, And I was still like a little bit in shock.
- 17:09And I was like, didn't know exactly what I was gonna do.
- 17:11I said I know I wasn't gonna sleep with them and he's like,
- 17:14OK, let's go in. He's like, OK, oh, let me go in
- 17:18and like, I'll find my friend and then like, I'll go get a get
- 17:21a room and then I I'll come back outside, which like, which was
- 17:26like lucky that he was going to like leave me alone for like a
- 17:28little bit and he was going to go inside.
- 17:31So he goes in and then after he was inside, I think like 5 or 10
- 17:39seconds later I just like bolted and ran and like like just away.
- 17:44Just I don't know where I was going any random direction.
- 17:47It was like away and it was like I was like Libby standing there,
- 17:50the adrenaline was running and I was just like this fight or
- 17:53flight type state. And then it was it was probably
- 17:57like 5 or 10 seconds after he went into the building that I
- 18:01Lou just like ran. So like I ran for probably like
- 18:06like sprinted running fast. I don't know for maybe like 3040
- 18:11seconds, like to get like a couple blocks away and then I
- 18:17remember like okay, I need directions.
- 18:20This is like, I just Google mapped like where's the nearest
- 18:24like subway station? I took the subway back.
- 18:26I remember so because I didn't like wait around for like a car
- 18:30to come in case he like found me in the area.
- 18:33So I was like, okay, you need to keep moving.
- 18:36Head to the nearest subway station.
- 18:37Just get on the subway so it could start taking you, like,
- 18:39away from this place in, in a way that you're, like, off the
- 18:41streets. As I was nearing the subway
- 18:44station, I just, like, mentioned him.
- 18:46It's like something like, oh, like, sorry, like, I don't think
- 18:49this is gonna work, whatever. And then he's like, oh, OK, so
- 18:54that was, like, the one time where I went for a Grinder
- 18:58hookup and the photo does not match the person.
- 19:04I've never, yeah, I've never had any other hookups that was like
- 19:10that messed up ever. But again, I don't hook up that
- 19:14much on Grinder and things like that.
- 19:16So it's. I used to do it more when I was
- 19:19younger. But yeah, that one time in
- 19:22Singapore, yeah, it was it. It it was kind of crazy.
- 19:28It was kind of crazy. I got back to my hotel and that
- 19:32thing. I was like, you know what?
- 19:33I've had a long night. I'm going to order some room
- 19:35service. That's what I do.
- 19:38If I'm like a hotel that has room service and I've had like a
- 19:41long day for whatever reason, like, for me, room service is
- 19:44like a treat. Room service is very expensive
- 19:47and there's like a service fee and you have to tip in
- 19:48everything. But for me, like, room service
- 19:52was like, very, very warranted that night.
- 19:56Yeah, that was kind of crazy. All right.
- 19:59Next I want to talk about the gay cruises because I know a lot
- 20:02of you are watching from my YouTube channel and my YouTube
- 20:06channel is. Filled with lots of videos about
- 20:09gay cruises, especially the Atlantis gay cruises that sail
- 20:13around pretty much all year long.
- 20:15So I am booked on the Atlantis Mediterranean cruise.
- 20:20It departs from Rome and Italy as a 10 night cruise, which is
- 20:25pretty long. You see, cruises are seven
- 20:26nights on average. You can get shorter cruises that
- 20:29are like three or four nights. Not that gay ones usually like
- 20:34the straight ones a week. It's like pretty average.
- 20:38But anything longer, that's like 10 days or even like a two week,
- 20:41110 day one. I think it's probably like as
- 20:45much as most people will want to be on a cruise ship for even
- 20:50seven days is fine, for these gay cruises, that's more like a
- 20:52party cruise. Seven days sometimes feels like
- 20:55a little bit too short because everyone's like having a really
- 20:58good time. I think 10 days for like a gay
- 21:01party, cruises like the Max that you can really do before feeling
- 21:06like you're stuck on the ship forever and you get kind of sort
- 21:09of like, what's that word stir crazy and you just want to get
- 21:14off the ship, right? But a Mediterranean cruise is
- 21:16really nice and it's pretty unique because obviously for one
- 21:19that's in Europe and it goes to like a bunch of different ports.
- 21:23I don't remember most of the ports because I'm not a
- 21:26sightseeing person. The one other time I went on
- 21:29this Mediterranean cruise, it went to like a bunch of like big
- 21:33name cities in Europe. I also don't remember what they
- 21:36are but my memory shit. But I was like OK, I've not been
- 21:40to these places before and I had some friends that were going to
- 21:43go sightseeing like the regular touristy places for all these
- 21:47different ports. So I kind of tag along with
- 21:49them, but I it was like, yeah, I can say like, oh, I went to like
- 21:55this place. I went to that place or
- 21:56whatever. But honestly, those places just
- 21:58seems like when you go there, you just surrounded by tourists.
- 22:02That's it. And like there was this like
- 22:05famous, I really can't remember what city this was.
- 22:08This was maybe it was like Rome or whatever, but there was like
- 22:13this famous place in the city that's like this big, huge water
- 22:17fountain. And like we went there and
- 22:19literally like every single person there was just trying to
- 22:22take selfies and photos and they're all tourists.
- 22:25I was like, I mean the natural beauty or whatever of the place
- 22:30is kind of semi destroyed by just having like 500 tourists.
- 22:34They're just taking photos of their selfie sticks and
- 22:36everything. I just read this article on Vox
- 22:40that kind of, sort of talks about this, where with the
- 22:42Internet and everything, people will blog or share like, oh,
- 22:46these are like the top ten tourist places in like this city
- 22:49and that city. And here's like the list of
- 22:51things you must do to have like a perfect day.
- 22:54You know, if you visit this location, so people look up
- 22:57these things that we search, you know, the places they're going
- 23:00to go on vacation and they all end up doing all the same
- 23:03things. So like, I mean, if you go to
- 23:05any of these places, try to do all these things, you you're
- 23:08just surrounded by tourists. Like tons and tons of them.
- 23:11So yeah, I'm not really like a sightseeing person anyway, so I
- 23:15can just go on the Internet and someone with much better skills
- 23:20that may will have taken much better photos and videos of
- 23:22whatever that place is. Like, I don't get any
- 23:26satisfaction taking a selfie of me being at like the Eiffel
- 23:29Tower or like, whatever. That's not really, like, worth
- 23:34it to me. I much rather have instead of
- 23:38like saying I visited this famous place, I much rather say,
- 23:41oh, I had a great time with friends on a trip.
- 23:47It doesn't matter if it was like, you know, like nowhere
- 23:51famous or whatever, Like for me, just going to like some famous
- 23:55place like that just doesn't do anything for me.
- 23:58So this time when I go on this Mediterranean cruise, it's later
- 24:03in August. I'm not going to get up at any
- 24:05of the ports, just like you should get off at most of the
- 24:07ports anyways. Usually we go to the cruises
- 24:10that sail off from Florida down to the Caribbean and you go to
- 24:15like Mexico or some places like Mazelon, Cozumel, whatever.
- 24:20And, you know, they're not like, they're great for the Caribbean,
- 24:23you know, but it's not like going to Rome or going to like
- 24:26Ibiza, which is one of the stops or like going to like Sicily or
- 24:30these, like, you know, famous cities and towns and stuff in
- 24:35Europe. But yeah, I'm just not going to
- 24:37get off. I'm just going to stay on the
- 24:38ship. And one of my friends would
- 24:40like, oh, like why are you going on this cruise if you're not
- 24:42going to get off the port site? That's just not me.
- 24:44If you want to go on a cruise, like go on a cruise.
- 24:46I'm not going to judge you for, like, choices you make on a on a
- 24:49cruise, people ask me, oh, what are things they can do on the
- 24:52cruise? And then people ask about the
- 24:55ports and stuff. My advice for at least the gay
- 24:58cruises that I'm familiar with, the beauty of a cruise is that
- 25:02there's so many things you can do on the ship and off the ship.
- 25:06You know, wherever the ship is going to dock on the itinerary,
- 25:10you can't really make it like your own trip.
- 25:13There are people that will get up early for like breakfast and
- 25:17they'll like watch the sunrise and you know, they'll sunbathe
- 25:21by the pool and then you know, like they'll go see the shows at
- 25:24night and then they know they don't.
- 25:25They're not gonna stay out late and they just, you know, they'll
- 25:28go to the casino maybe, like, you can do anything.
- 25:30There's there's so many activities and amenities on the
- 25:34ship that you can have people that are like party people.
- 25:38They party till like 5 or 6 or 7:00 AM, they go to bed, they
- 25:42sleep for 8 hours. When they wake up, it's 4:00 PM,
- 25:44they get up, they party and then they rinse the repeat.
- 25:47So that's one way to do a cruise.
- 25:49If there are those types of parties available on the
- 25:51Atlantis months, there are. And like I said, there are other
- 25:53people. Like, they might get up at 6:00
- 25:55AM, take a morning yoga class, eat at breakfast, watch the
- 25:58sunrise. And like, you know, they'll have
- 26:00like, that type of a day. It can also switch it up.
- 26:03We can party one day and, like, have a relaxing day the next,
- 26:06right? So there's all these different
- 26:07things that you can do, but there's so much stuff on a
- 26:10cruise ship. Honestly, these ships like
- 26:12massive. They're literally like many
- 26:14floating cities. There's a spa.
- 26:16There's all these different types of restaurants.
- 26:18They've got, like basketball courts and stuff.
- 26:21They've got a gym. They've got, like, rock
- 26:23climbing. They've got activities like
- 26:26there's like so much different type of stuff that you can do on
- 26:29the ship. But I tell people also don't
- 26:33like tire yourself with trying to do everything because I see
- 26:36that with new cruisers all the time, they tire themselves so
- 26:39much. So that's like my one piece of
- 26:41advice that I always give. It's like don't try to do
- 26:44everything. You get this newsletter that
- 26:46it's slipped under your table or it's electronic nowadays, but
- 26:49after COVID and it would tell you basically all the different
- 26:53things that's going on on the ship for that day and it's like
- 26:56a four page PDF and it's like 8 point font.
- 27:01You get to like the third and four pages because there's like
- 27:04so much stuff to do and some people see that and they feel
- 27:09like oh if I don't try to do as much as possible I'm going to be
- 27:12missing up. But that's really not the point
- 27:14of the having that much stuff on the cruise.
- 27:17The cruise ship has so much stuff going on so that people
- 27:19can pick and choose their own adventure and so that they can
- 27:23have a vacation that is like customized or is catered to
- 27:27them. The point is not for you to do
- 27:29like all hundred things that's available on the cruise that
- 27:32particular days for people to pick and choose what they would
- 27:35like to do so that it's there's something for everyone.
- 27:38It's not for everyone to do everything.
- 27:41So yeah, but really looking forward to this cruise.
- 27:43I'm going again, not because of the ports, but I just like being
- 27:46on the gay cruises. I've been on like 14 or 15 of
- 27:50them. I think it's great, especially
- 27:52for the logistics, especially when you go to like parties.
- 27:56When you go to party on land, like there's like a nightclub or
- 28:00a circuit party or like or whatever in town, you have to
- 28:05take an Uber or like take the train or transit or whatever to
- 28:08get there. Once you get to the party, it's
- 28:10usually no in and out. Once you're in the party and you
- 28:13leave, like you're you're not going back in.
- 28:16So a lot of the times, unless you're going to have tickets for
- 28:18multiple parties or you're going to go to The Afters or whatever,
- 28:21you're pretty much in that place for like two or three or four or
- 28:24five hours. Most parties and clubs and
- 28:26stuff, well, at least the gay ones.
- 28:28They don't have food, They have alcohol.
- 28:30The water is like 8 bucks or something on a cruise ship, at
- 28:33least the Lantus ones. There are parties every night
- 28:37and there's some like tea dances during the afternoons on some
- 28:40days, but there's a party every night and there's no extra
- 28:43charge for those parties, right? And you can go to the party, you
- 28:47can come in and out the party like as many times as you want,
- 28:51you know, It's just like a venue you walk into.
- 28:53There's no, like security check every time.
- 28:57You have to go in and out. There's no, like, checking
- 28:59tickets or anything. It's just like it's just open
- 29:01and if you want to like and you forgot something in your state
- 29:05room, your state room is right there.
- 29:06Your state room is like a 5 minute walk away at most.
- 29:09One time I was living down in Silicon Valley just like 10 or
- 29:13five years ago and I was going to like a fight.
- 29:16Or Saturday night I was gonna drive up to San Francisco from
- 29:21Silicon Valley, which is like at night when it's like 9 or 10:00
- 29:25PM, it's what is it like 30, thirty 35 miles or something
- 29:30like that, or 50 miles. But it's basically like a 45
- 29:33minute drive. And one time I got all the way
- 29:38to San Francisco after driving for like 4045 minutes, got
- 29:42parked my car, got to the club. And then when I was like trying
- 29:46to get my idea, I realized I left my wallet at home and I
- 29:49didn't have my ID. Not even like a photo of it on
- 29:51my phone that particular night. I think I drove home, grabbed my
- 29:55wallet, and they came back up. But that's like something that
- 29:59would never happen on a cruise ship, because first of all, they
- 30:01don't need to check your ID for any of the parties.
- 30:03Like everything is on file electronically anyways.
- 30:04You're on the ship, you're already 18 plus or like 21 plus.
- 30:07And if you did forget something, anything, it's just in your
- 30:12room. You walk two or three or five
- 30:14minutes back to your room and grab whatever you need, and you
- 30:17can come back #2 club. Like toilets and restrooms in
- 30:22clubs and bars and stuff could get pretty nasty.
- 30:25But when you're on a cruise ship, first of all, like, the
- 30:28public area restrooms are like, actually really like, neat and
- 30:31tidy. Second, can you just go back to
- 30:34your room and use your own bathroom and you've got all your
- 30:36toiletries and everything in there?
- 30:38Like if you need to blow ass, if you got diarrhea in the middle
- 30:41of a party or something, you can just go back to your room and
- 30:44like effing let a rip. And like you've got it's your
- 30:48private space, it's your private room, it's your private toilet,
- 30:51and you've got all your supplies to deal with whatever your
- 30:54stomach emergency is. That's like another great thing
- 30:57about partying on a cruise. And if you're hungry, there's
- 31:02always food available summer on the ship.
- 31:04Even if it's like 2:00 AM or 3:00 AM, you should have buffet
- 31:07closest like four or five. A lot of these foods is one of
- 31:09my favorite things to do is I will go to the buffet I'll
- 31:15timing before it closes, but like I'll party, party, party,
- 31:18and then I'll go to the buffet like 30 minutes before they
- 31:22close, but they don't close to like 4:00 AM.
- 31:25We're coming crazy like that on these cruises.
- 31:28And I'll go and just like have a buffet and I'll just like stuff
- 31:31my face. And then I'll go to bed.
- 31:33I go back to my room, I'll take a shower and I'll go to bed.
- 31:37But you can come and lead and grab as much food and eat and
- 31:40just go back like as much as you want.
- 31:42That's so that that's not like awesome part of it.
- 31:45Like compared to when you party on land, there's no food at
- 31:48these gay parties or it's gonna be super expensive.
- 31:52Once you're there, you're stuck there.
- 31:53You can't go home. You forget something, God forbid
- 31:55it's gonna be a long ride, you know, back home.
- 31:57And to come back again, there's no line up.
- 31:59So like have to get into the parties, just walked in the
- 32:02parties. It's not like some of these
- 32:04clubs, you know online where they're like line up.
- 32:06You know what? It's really annoying when they
- 32:08make people lying up outside the club to give the illusion to
- 32:12people outside that the club is busy.
- 32:14And if things are happening, sometimes it's so annoying and
- 32:17think, we we've all been there before, right?
- 32:19There's like a short to moderate that's like a moderate lineup.
- 32:23There's maybe like 20-30 people outside and like, they could let
- 32:27people in more quickly, but they're doing intentionally to
- 32:31make it look busy to other people, to make it not look
- 32:35dead. Once you get inside, it's like,
- 32:36oh, where the hell is everyone? You go inside, like there's tons
- 32:38of space here and they're just like holding up line that's so
- 32:41annoying. That doesn't happen on one of
- 32:43these cruises. So yeah, and it's so easy to
- 32:46make friends on a cruise as well because I'm kind of an
- 32:50introvert. I don't make friends.
- 32:51Like, it's difficult for me to just randomly walk up to people
- 32:56and be like, oh hey, I'm Joey, blah, blah, blah.
- 32:58I'm not like a people person. I'm not introvert that way.
- 33:00We're strangers. Networking events set my anxiety
- 33:05through the roof, like mixers and things like that.
- 33:09I try to go to them like once or twice before, like when I was
- 33:12like really young in my career. And there's like, oh, there's
- 33:13like in San Francisco, for example.
- 33:15They're like tech mixers for like people in tech.
- 33:17And you go and blow by, you suppose just like Mango and talk
- 33:19to strangers. No, no, that that's not for me.
- 33:22I can't just randomly go into a room full of strangers.
- 33:27I just expected to, like, walk up to random people and just
- 33:30start talking to them and just make friends like that.
- 33:31That is not how I operate. That kind of environment and
- 33:34that kind of environment I would just be like, I just end up not
- 33:38talking to anyone. But unlike these gay cruises,
- 33:42the dynamic is a little different because everyone's
- 33:45really friendly. You know why though?
- 33:46Because everybody's on vacation, right?
- 33:49In regular everyday life, people are not on vacation even, you
- 33:52know, if at one of these like mixtures or whatever, right?
- 33:58People are like in like a work mode or like they're running
- 34:01chores or errands or like they're always going somewhere
- 34:03people or always doing something always like in a hurry to get
- 34:06somewhere, right? But when you go on one of these
- 34:07cruise ships, everyone is on that ship to be on vacations.
- 34:11Everyone becomes a lot more low key and laid back and therefore
- 34:16like more approachable. And now you've got like these
- 34:18parties and then you've got they have like social events and
- 34:22things like that as well. So in that type of a situation,
- 34:25on these gay cruises, it's like one of the very few places I
- 34:28found where I can actually just like go talk to random
- 34:32strangers, people that I absolutely don't know, and just
- 34:35say hi and just have like really pleasant, unforced, you know,
- 34:40small talk where like I don't feel anxious.
- 34:42You know, it doesn't mean that we're going to be like best
- 34:44friends, but like, it's actually pretty easy.
- 34:46Just like say hi to someone, make some small talk, you know,
- 34:49because the the environment is very conducive to that.
- 34:52Everyone is in vacation mode. So everyone is like chilled out
- 34:56basically. Not like when you go to like one
- 34:59of these mixer things, industry mixers or whatever, you know, in
- 35:02real life it just feels like everyone is very, I don't know,
- 35:06it's a very, very different environment.
- 35:07Yeah. So that's one of the reasons I
- 35:08really like going on these cruises.
- 35:10So I already booked for this met cruise.
- 35:12If someone you go into that met cruise, yeah, I'll see you on
- 35:15board. By the way, just in case if you
- 35:18guys have any like cruise, gay, cruise related questions, I do
- 35:22get like spattering of them every so often via various
- 35:28channels. Comment down below because yeah,
- 35:30I'll be more than happy to maybe talk about the gate cruises in
- 35:34more depth. Give you guys some advice on
- 35:36this podcast as well, but until next time, make sure you
- 35:39subscribe to the podcast and make sure you watch the video
- 35:42version of this podcast. I was gonna fix my hair for this
- 35:45podcast but I was like it looks non horrible and the podcast is
- 35:50supposed to be like a lower effort thing where I don't have
- 35:52to dawn myself so much. So yeah, if you wanna see what
- 35:55my hair looks like then you can watch the video version of this
- 35:59podcast on my YouTube channel. Just Joey T and Spotify.
- 36:02But till next time, bye.
