- 0:40Speaker 2: feels special? They bring the freaking bell. Welcome to another
- 1:00Speaker 2: edition of When the Bell Rings. I am your host,
- 1:05Speaker 2: Corey David now joining me today we have a special guest,
- 1:10Speaker 2: my guy.
- 1:10Speaker 1: The Man, the myth, the legend, the man of the hour,
- 1:13Speaker 1: too Sweet to be sour, the one and only Justin Greenberg.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Why did I why did? I just wanted to go.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Back? You know, I had to fill in, But I'm
- 1:26Speaker 1: happy to be here, Corey. I did one episode earlier.
- 1:29Speaker 1: We talked about the legacy of Hulk Hogan, But now
- 1:31Speaker 1: we're back to talk to some other stuff that.
- 1:33Speaker 2: That was a good episode.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yes, there was some technical as.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Well, you know, the first you know we got we know, well,
- 1:41Speaker 2: we need some first take guys, I guess what. We
- 1:44Speaker 2: knocked it out in the first take. Yeah, and even
- 1:46Speaker 2: in our second take it was still good.
- 1:48Speaker 1: It was redeemable. We salvaged it. But everything seems to
- 1:51Speaker 1: be recording now, so, uh, we're good to go on
- 1:54Speaker 1: this edition and we're gonna have some fun, but we're
- 1:57Speaker 1: also gonna get to some controversial stuff and we got
- 2:00Speaker 1: some fun retro topics that we're going to get to
- 2:02Speaker 1: as well, which is my specialty.
- 2:04Speaker 2: How you feeling, man, how's that thing going with you life?
- 2:06Speaker 2: I was like, treating life is all right.
- 2:09Speaker 1: You know, we're recording this. It's the end of the summer,
- 2:11Speaker 1: which is always a little depressing. I'm excited for September though.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I love me some football, so I'm excited to see
- 2:17Speaker 1: the start of the NFL season. And what I love
- 2:20Speaker 1: to just bring this back to wrestling is my nephew
- 2:23Speaker 1: is huge into the world of pro wrestling, okay, and
- 2:26Speaker 1: we're showing him all the retro stuff and he is
- 2:28Speaker 1: so knowledgeable. He watches YouTube video, so he knows all
- 2:32Speaker 1: this stuff. I'm just naming a random wrestler. He knows
- 2:34Speaker 1: their finisher, movie, knows their signature move.
- 2:37Speaker 2: So who's his favorite, who's his favorite current wrestling, who's
- 2:39Speaker 2: his favorite retro old school wrestler?
- 2:42Speaker 1: Well, I guess you could say, it's sort of one
- 2:44Speaker 1: and the same. It would be Jeff Hardy. He loves
- 2:46Speaker 1: the Hardy Boys.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Okay, so we got Jeff Hardy. So that's like that's late,
- 2:51Speaker 2: that's like late attitude of aggression type of area.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Is there any people from the eighties?
- 2:56Speaker 1: He line, Yes, there's there's quite a few, but I'd
- 2:59Speaker 1: say his favorite is the Machu Man years. He loves
- 3:05Speaker 1: the costumes, he loves the over the topness, he loves
- 3:08Speaker 1: his in ring.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Style, he loves the theme.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And I think that's very important for a young person.
- 3:15Speaker 1: That's the wrestlers I got into as a kid always
- 3:18Speaker 1: had like a classic sort of theme song. Believe it
- 3:20Speaker 1: or not, my favorite wrestler growing up was the British Bulldog,
- 3:24Speaker 1: which is so random because by the time I started
- 3:27Speaker 1: watching wrestling, he was a heel, so he wasn't even
- 3:29Speaker 1: a baby face. It was ninety five, late ninety five,
- 3:32Speaker 1: and you know, he was a bad guy, and I
- 3:35Speaker 1: just liked the fact that he was probably the most
- 3:37Speaker 1: jacked guy on the roster at the time. I liked
- 3:40Speaker 1: his color scheme I grew up. Believe it or not, Corey,
- 3:43Speaker 1: You're not gonna believe this. I think You know, though
- 3:46Speaker 1: I was a Drew Bletsoe Patriots fan. I love the
- 3:49Speaker 1: Patriots when I was a kid, so I love the
- 3:52Speaker 1: blue and red, that color scheme. And I think that's
- 3:55Speaker 1: also why I liked the British Bulldog, because he wore
- 3:58Speaker 1: you know, the Union jack and on top of it,
- 4:00Speaker 1: the theme song was very important to me as well.
- 4:02Speaker 1: He had the classic rule Britannia.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Very regal, very real.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Yes, yes, And I think my nephew likes Macho Man
- 4:10Speaker 1: for all of those reasons. The bright colors, the larger
- 4:13Speaker 1: than life costumes, and.
- 4:14Speaker 2: I think when it came when it when it comes
- 4:16Speaker 2: to British bullthough, the only time, like I really like,
- 4:18Speaker 2: I really got into him was when he's in the
- 4:20Speaker 2: Heart Dynasty, Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 1: The Hart Foundation back in the ninety seven.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Yeah, when everybody clicked up in him and Owen with
- 4:27Speaker 2: Tag Team Partners.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I mean, looking back at it, Bulldog had
- 4:32Speaker 1: some things that he did very well, but he also
- 4:35Speaker 1: was his worst enemy. He did not live up to
- 4:37Speaker 1: his potential, which is something we'll be talking about later on.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Well, I already know I'm blaming for that one.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I'm blaming a few people for that. Who are you
- 4:43Speaker 1: gonna blame for that Eric Bischoff for his w c
- 4:46Speaker 1: W run.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Not for his WCW run, but for what happened in
- 4:50Speaker 2: his WCW run. You remember, Yeah, the trap door that
- 4:55Speaker 2: was that that they didn't tell him about. Yeah, he
- 4:57Speaker 2: messed his back up, which then led him to be
- 4:59Speaker 2: in on a.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Pay I'll tell you this, Corey, somebody that read a book,
- 5:05Speaker 1: because I read my first and only book as an adult.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I read Brett Hart's autobiography. British Bulldog was messed up
- 5:12Speaker 1: way prior to that incident. He used that as an
- 5:15Speaker 1: excuse to abuse drugs. In fact, British Bulldog was on crack.
- 5:19Speaker 1: He was on a cracked bender leading up to his
- 5:22Speaker 1: Wembley match versus bredon ninety two.
- 5:25Speaker 2: That's you know when people say like they some wrestlers
- 5:28Speaker 2: do drugs. Yeah, okay, coke. I can understand weed, I
- 5:31Speaker 2: can understand how do you do crack? Like right? That
- 5:35Speaker 2: to me? Once you get to crack level, that's that's
- 5:39Speaker 2: doing a little too much for me.
- 5:40Speaker 1: It seems like I might be wrong on this, but
- 5:43Speaker 1: it seems like crack is like not a wealthy drug.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Like when you think of people doing crack, you think
- 5:48Speaker 1: of them maybe being on the street like rich people
- 5:51Speaker 1: you would think would do like cocaine.
- 5:53Speaker 2: I was watching The Cowboys Gambler, the documentary on Netflix.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah, how is that?
- 5:59Speaker 2: It's not I thought they would dive more into like
- 6:03Speaker 2: the state of the Cowboys. Now Yeah, it's more so
- 6:08Speaker 2: focused on just the truplets. That's it.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Oh so did they talk about Michael Irvin?
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, that's the thing. There was an instance when
- 6:15Speaker 2: they was when he delved into this whole episode about
- 6:18Speaker 2: him and his drug trial and everything like that.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I was like, he had like a gulf size bull
- 6:23Speaker 2: crack rock. I'm like, and he keeps showing this, he
- 6:26Speaker 2: keeps showing this crack rock. I'm like, what makes you
- 6:30Speaker 2: even like one? Why would you buy something that big?
- 6:33Speaker 2: Like to smoke? And I'm just like, nah, that that.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Once you get to crack, it's a it's a whole
- 6:38Speaker 2: new thing.
- 6:39Speaker 1: I think a lot of these athletes and wrestlers as well,
- 6:41Speaker 1: they surround themselves with the wrong people. So once they
- 6:44Speaker 1: get to the next level, a lot of athletes can't
- 6:47Speaker 1: drop the people that were on the streets with them,
- 6:50Speaker 1: and then they enable them and they feel like they're
- 6:53Speaker 1: entitled to some of their money and some of their
- 6:56Speaker 1: you know, habits.
- 6:57Speaker 2: I think it's just they just like the party as well.
- 7:00Speaker 2: The basic sample of that. Unfortunately, one of my goats,
- 7:03Speaker 2: HVK Shawn Michaels.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Was a cocage Yes, yes he was, but he, you know,
- 7:08Speaker 1: overcame that. Bulldog Unfortunately, like you mentioned, WCW was sort
- 7:12Speaker 1: of the tipping point. He had that injury, fell on
- 7:15Speaker 1: the trap door for that Warrior match back in October
- 7:18Speaker 1: ninety eight.
- 7:18Speaker 2: And then I felt as though booking actually kind of
- 7:21Speaker 2: messed him up when he came back. You remember, they
- 7:22Speaker 2: had him in a dysfunctional rock triple eh Sonny, Yeah, Yeah,
- 7:26Speaker 2: I'm like, I didn't get what the fuck that was.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Yeah, he was. You know, it's so weird. You just cursed.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yeah, we're allowed to curse, and
- 7:33Speaker 1: you rarely cursed. So I'm shocked at you.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Corey.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Uh Yeah. But I think Bulldog was already if you
- 7:38Speaker 1: look at him in ninety eight, even leading up to
- 7:40Speaker 1: that match, he was a shell of his former self.
- 7:42Speaker 1: He never took care of himself.
- 7:43Speaker 2: No, that was that could have been ninety eight, had
- 7:45Speaker 2: been that had been ninety nine.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Ninety eight. I'm talking about with the Warrior thing leading
- 7:50Speaker 1: up to the Warrior match. You know where he fell
- 7:53Speaker 1: on a trap door in a match versus Alex Right
- 7:56Speaker 1: and Disco Inferno is a tag team match that was
- 7:58Speaker 1: at Halloween Havoc ninety eight. But that whole year of
- 8:00Speaker 1: ninety eight, he was having Stinker after Stinker. He was
- 8:04Speaker 1: not in shape. He was, you know, having shitty matches
- 8:07Speaker 1: with Mango, and just like he was not taking care
- 8:10Speaker 1: of himself. He did himself no justice. And on top
- 8:13Speaker 1: of it, Bulldog was never a good promo. That was
- 8:16Speaker 1: sort of his achilles heel. He couldn't really get to
- 8:20Speaker 1: that next level maybe without a manager. He was good
- 8:23Speaker 1: having Jim Cornett when he was on the tag team.
- 8:26Speaker 1: If he was ever going to be world Champion Bulldog,
- 8:28Speaker 1: it would have been after ninety two, after the whole
- 8:31Speaker 1: Wembley Match thing. But he got fired by the end
- 8:33Speaker 1: of ninety two as well for doing drugs. So he
- 8:35Speaker 1: was his own worst enemy for his entire career.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Yeah. True. Uh, that is like a great opening for
- 8:44Speaker 2: what we're going to talk about latest kind of get
- 8:46Speaker 2: into Tiso. The main the main topic of today's show
- 8:50Speaker 2: is wasted potential, whether it be booking, or whether it
- 8:54Speaker 2: be things that have infled they've inflicted upon himself, or
- 8:57Speaker 2: injuries or injuries. What what stopped certain wrestlers from reaching
- 9:02Speaker 2: their full potential? As we'll dive into that later. But
- 9:06Speaker 2: to get into more current day topics. One of the
- 9:08Speaker 2: most touching and I mean one of the most touchy
- 9:11Speaker 2: subjects in today's society, I mean today's society of wrestling
- 9:15Speaker 2: and like the most popular topic is the Rajah Jackson
- 9:19Speaker 2: Knox pro situation.
- 9:21Speaker 1: This was insane. This The only thing that this reminded
- 9:27Speaker 1: me of is what New Jack used to do back
- 9:29Speaker 1: in the.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Day, the mass.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Mass transit incident and then another incident where he stabbed
- 9:33Speaker 1: somebody as well. Did you see, of course we have
- 9:36Speaker 1: the we have the telephone going off. I don't even
- 9:39Speaker 1: know why there's a functioning telephone in this studio, but
- 9:43Speaker 1: out or leave it in cares.
- 9:45Speaker 2: But no. The craziest thing is Dave Meltz said this
- 9:48Speaker 2: was this was actually worse.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I've read this is the most disgraceful thing he's
- 9:53Speaker 1: pretty much seen in the in the pro wrestling ring,
- 9:56Speaker 1: which is saying something because Meltzer has been covering wrestling
- 9:58Speaker 1: since the seventies.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Described what to give context of what happened. Raja Rajah
- 10:04Speaker 2: Jackson's son of m M A legend Rampage Jackson was
- 10:09Speaker 2: at a pro wrestling event promoted by Knox Pro and
- 10:14Speaker 2: in it he had an incident an incident with us
- 10:18Speaker 2: a professional wrestler Cycle Stu before his match where Cycle
- 10:23Speaker 2: Stu with a gimmick uh uh gimmick can smashed it
- 10:28Speaker 2: over his head. I believe he thought this was a
- 10:31Speaker 2: working and part of the show. You can see videos
- 10:35Speaker 2: later of him apologizing and said We're gonna do work later.
- 10:38Speaker 1: All of this is being streamed on kick so there's
- 10:41Speaker 1: like two hours plus of evidence.
- 10:44Speaker 2: And so then remember a wrestler in the back staide,
- 10:47Speaker 2: you're gonna get you get back, right, we'll talk about
- 10:50Speaker 2: that wrestling the suit second. But he's like, are you
- 10:53Speaker 2: going to get your get back your receipt in the ring,
- 10:56Speaker 2: And so you see Raja is in the front row
- 10:59Speaker 2: to fucking basically about what he's going to do when
- 11:02Speaker 2: says he better not punched back because I'm gonna keep
- 11:04Speaker 2: going until until he just basically said I'm gonna just
- 11:07Speaker 2: keep firing on him.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Until they pulled me off. I'm gonna just knock this
- 11:11Speaker 1: guy into another galaxy.
- 11:13Speaker 2: And that's what he proceeded to do. He jumped into
- 11:16Speaker 2: the ring, lifted cycle stew Up slammed him.
- 11:20Speaker 1: He was knocked out right away.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Yeah, when many people believe that he was unable to
- 11:24Speaker 2: defend himself. He was knocked un conscious and he just
- 11:28Speaker 2: Raja just kept obliterating him with punches.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Over twenty Haymakers without anybody stepping in really to help
- 11:38Speaker 1: this guy. I have so many issues with this.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Do you know what the most one of the most
- 11:42Speaker 2: disgraceful things about that.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I know exactly where you're going.
- 11:45Speaker 2: They didn't have the decency to end the mets.
- 11:48Speaker 1: They they they pinned them, They pinned them. It's insane.
- 11:53Speaker 1: I found that out the next day, and it just
- 11:55Speaker 1: shows how carneye this company is and how second rate
- 11:59Speaker 1: this is. There's so many things to break down with
- 12:02Speaker 1: this thing, Corey. So first of all, I don't like
- 12:04Speaker 1: the idea, and I am so anti Rajar Jackson in
- 12:07Speaker 1: this thing, but I don't like the idea of an
- 12:10Speaker 1: outsider being backstage Rajar Jackson and Psycho Stu just going
- 12:16Speaker 1: up to him and hitting him with a gimmicked can.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I don't think that should have been done, especially Rajah
- 12:22Speaker 1: Jackson has no idea about the wrestling industry, and he's
- 12:25Speaker 1: dealing with a concussion, so he can have post concussion syndrome,
- 12:28Speaker 1: he can have a completely just altered state of thinking
- 12:31Speaker 1: at this point. So I don't know why that was done.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Now there's rumors that maybe Psycho what the hell is
- 12:38Speaker 1: his name Stu was was set up and he was
- 12:40Speaker 1: sort of told, like, this is an angle, do this.
- 12:43Speaker 1: So I don't know why that happened.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Because there has been incidents where like wrestlers and out
- 12:48Speaker 2: people from the outside world, they interact and they set
- 12:51Speaker 2: up an angle. One of the great best examples of
- 12:53Speaker 2: that is Johnny Knoxville and sammy' zay. You know, they
- 12:57Speaker 2: did multiple things that were out of the realm of wrestling,
- 13:01Speaker 2: but it was all to set up an angle. Yes,
- 13:03Speaker 2: you know what's uh No, The most famous case.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Is Jerry Lawler, and that would be a big one.
- 13:11Speaker 1: But it didn't seem like Rajah was in on this
- 13:15Speaker 1: and he got upset like you mentioned. Now, if Rajah
- 13:19Speaker 1: Jackson immediately attacked him right after, I would have no
- 13:22Speaker 1: issue with this. If he got slammed on it a
- 13:25Speaker 1: can on his head, and then attacked him, punched him
- 13:28Speaker 1: a few times and they got broken up. I see
- 13:30Speaker 1: no issue with that. In fact, I would be on
- 13:31Speaker 1: Rajo's side. It's the fact that he premeditated it. And
- 13:35Speaker 1: there's video of this man apologizing saying, oh, you know,
- 13:40Speaker 1: sort of something along the lines of I thought you
- 13:41Speaker 1: were a worker. Why don't we do something with this.
- 13:45Speaker 1: They shook hands, so they set it up. They set
- 13:47Speaker 1: up an angle where.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Because he seemed confused. Once he did, he said, you're
- 13:50Speaker 2: not going.
- 13:50Speaker 1: To sell Yeah, yeah, you're not gonna sell me, you know,
- 13:53Speaker 1: bashing this can over your head. So another issue is,
- 13:56Speaker 1: and this is a big thing that I think is
- 13:59Speaker 1: even just as disgraceful, is the fact that they planned
- 14:04Speaker 1: a spot to happen. They planned for Rajar Jackson to
- 14:07Speaker 1: get his quote revenge. So there was gonna be like
- 14:09Speaker 1: a wrestling tackle and maybe like some few fake punches
- 14:12Speaker 1: being done, but none of that was rehearsed. If you're
- 14:16Speaker 1: doing something with somebody that's never been in a wrestling
- 14:19Speaker 1: ring before, the WWE is so good with stuff like that,
- 14:22Speaker 1: even aw so good with something that if you ever
- 14:24Speaker 1: an outsider, come in, you rehearse your spots.
- 14:27Speaker 2: They usually do it before the show. Hours before the show,
- 14:29Speaker 2: everybody surrounded at the ring and they'll go over what
- 14:31Speaker 2: they need to go over to get the match or
- 14:34Speaker 2: whatever they're trying to do perfect. Even Jelly Roll had
- 14:37Speaker 2: to go through an XT.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure he was training for weeks on end
- 14:42Speaker 1: for his you know, wrestling moments. So you have a guy,
- 14:44Speaker 1: you just tell a random MMA fighter go in the
- 14:48Speaker 1: ring and get your receipt. He doesn't know how to
- 14:50Speaker 1: throw a working punch. So I mean, not only is
- 14:55Speaker 1: Rajar Jackson an idiot for premeditated attempted murder, the guy
- 15:01Speaker 1: who set this all up, whoever was running the show
- 15:05Speaker 1: that night, whoever was the agent for that match, whoever,
- 15:09Speaker 1: whatever the other wrestlers were saying to Rajah Jackson and Rikishi,
- 15:13Speaker 1: who's a w W Hall of Famer, this is his company,
- 15:16Speaker 1: so this is all on him and all the higher
- 15:20Speaker 1: ups of this company all deserve to never, in my opinion,
- 15:24Speaker 1: be involved in any legitimate pro wrestling thing.
- 15:27Speaker 2: And I'm glad that w W took the affiliation away
- 15:30Speaker 2: from them.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Yeah, they were sort of like a minor league system
- 15:33Speaker 1: for them. No ww I D whatever that man, I'm
- 15:36Speaker 1: not sure what that is.
- 15:37Speaker 2: It's like, uh, just just to help out certain indie promotions,
- 15:41Speaker 2: give them extra little money so that they can help
- 15:44Speaker 2: help with indie talent, you know, if they need anything.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess trained the future w W E talent
- 15:50Speaker 1: potentially as well.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Not even w W twent because if I remember correctly,
- 15:54Speaker 2: if I'm looking at a lot of these ww I
- 15:56Speaker 2: D guys, a lot of not even on ww television. Okay,
- 15:59Speaker 2: you have the tag. Yeah, it's like you have a
- 16:02Speaker 2: tag and it's like you can actually sign with any
- 16:04Speaker 2: company you want.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Well, you lost that ability. Now you lost a lot
- 16:09Speaker 1: of people's respect. What's really weird is I've seen two
- 16:13Speaker 1: people come to a sort of defense of Rajah Jackson.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Now.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I watched a little bit of Rob van Dam, who
- 16:20Speaker 1: I love, and he treated me extraordinarily nice, but he
- 16:24Speaker 1: was defending Rajah Jackson. Now I did not watch his
- 16:27Speaker 1: whole YouTube video. I was getting kind of pissed off
- 16:29Speaker 1: about it, honestly. Yeah, I don't get it. I mean
- 16:32Speaker 1: he might have smoked too many blunts that day. And
- 16:35Speaker 1: then Mark Henry also I was reading about it as
- 16:38Speaker 1: well that he was sort of going up against what
- 16:41Speaker 1: Psychostu did. I don't think one action necessarily needed to
- 16:47Speaker 1: have another reaction to that extent, if I throw a
- 16:51Speaker 1: piece of popcorn at you, Corey, you should not be
- 16:54Speaker 1: able to punch me a million times in the face.
- 16:57Speaker 1: That's pretty much what just occurred there.
- 17:00Speaker 2: And then the one that I can say though, is
- 17:02Speaker 2: I'm glad that psycho Stu is upwoke and stable because
- 17:07Speaker 2: the thing that was reported was he was choking on
- 17:08Speaker 2: his own blood and teeth. I believe he lost several teeth.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I've read he was flatlining in the ring.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's the initial thing that court me. Somebody
- 17:17Speaker 2: said he died.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I was like, what, Yeah, I mean a lot of
- 17:20Speaker 1: it's still not out there because I also heard it's
- 17:22Speaker 1: false reports of his health being good. So, like, we
- 17:25Speaker 1: don't know everything that's happening right now. As of this recording,
- 17:30Speaker 1: LAPD is involved. They are investigating it for attempted murder. Now,
- 17:35Speaker 1: obviously this guy being a wealthy individual with his father
- 17:40Speaker 1: having a significant amount of fame, especially in the MMA world,
- 17:45Speaker 1: is that going to help one way or another. Is
- 17:47Speaker 1: the fact that he did hit him with the beer
- 17:49Speaker 1: can even though it was a worked gimmick. Is that
- 17:51Speaker 1: going to play into this court case if it actually
- 17:55Speaker 1: goes to court. I mean, there's so much evidence, as
- 17:57Speaker 1: we mentioned, he was streaming for two hours talking about
- 18:00Speaker 1: what he's going to do. It's all on film for
- 18:03Speaker 1: multiple angles, and even the aftermath is on film, and
- 18:06Speaker 1: he just seems like an idiot. Did you watch the
- 18:09Speaker 1: clip of him being told that Psycho Stu flatlined in
- 18:12Speaker 1: the ring and he's just pretty much like, okay, okay, whatever,
- 18:16Speaker 1: Like he's just the lights are on, but nobody's home
- 18:19Speaker 1: with this dude. So I don't know what's gonna happen
- 18:22Speaker 1: with this. And then obviously, I mean, this is the
- 18:24Speaker 1: elephant in the room that needs to be said. Psycho
- 18:26Speaker 1: Stu is a white guy. Rajah Jackson is a black guy.
- 18:30Speaker 1: So there's a lot of discourse online now that's making
- 18:33Speaker 1: it a racial thing.
- 18:34Speaker 2: I see, No, you think that. And I also seen
- 18:37Speaker 2: the fact that it was more so with the fact
- 18:40Speaker 2: that he's a veteran, Like I was like.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Yeah, Psycho Stu is a veteran. Yah.
- 18:43Speaker 2: As soon as I've seen that he's a veteran, they
- 18:46Speaker 2: about the they about to get They about to get
- 18:48Speaker 2: you my guy. Yeah, there's no defense of it, but
- 18:50Speaker 2: uh yeah, that whole situation is very unfortunate, and I
- 18:55Speaker 2: hope that somehow, some way that cycle STU was able
- 18:59Speaker 2: to un and is able to have a healthy return
- 19:02Speaker 2: and is able to whether it be wrestling or anything
- 19:05Speaker 2: that he decides to do after this.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Who knows what damage this is gonna do. You don't
- 19:09Speaker 1: get punched in the head that money times and there's
- 19:12Speaker 1: no damage. I mean, this guy could have issues. Maybe
- 19:15Speaker 1: not right away, but ten fifteen years from now. This
- 19:18Speaker 1: could lead to CTE. You never know, He's already dealing
- 19:22Speaker 1: with PTSD from being a veteran. So the fact is
- 19:25Speaker 1: he got into wrestling to take away the mental trauma
- 19:29Speaker 1: that he got from war. Now he's gonna have even
- 19:31Speaker 1: more trauma on top of all of this. Corey, his
- 19:34Speaker 1: mom was in attendance watching this, and there are kids
- 19:38Speaker 1: at this wrestling event watching a man attempt to murder
- 19:42Speaker 1: on another individual. If he doesn't get any time in jail,
- 19:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna be furious. Yeah, I mean, come on.
- 19:48Speaker 2: This is this is just reckless and it was unfortunate
- 19:52Speaker 2: on all counts and all parties involved.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Yeah, this should be you know, very interesting in the
- 19:57Speaker 1: next couple of months actually what happened, So I'm sure
- 19:59Speaker 1: you guys update all of this.
- 20:01Speaker 2: So like with this, like with his, it's I'm starting
- 20:06Speaker 2: to see people are not understanding the art of professional wrestling.
- 20:11Speaker 2: They're not understanding work shoot relationship. And that leads me
- 20:16Speaker 2: to the next thing that's being currently talked about. Becky
- 20:19Speaker 2: Lynch cut a promo last night. I believe they I
- 20:22Speaker 2: forgot where they were at.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Bingham, Yeah, I want to say it was Birmingham.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Yeah, And she cut a promo. She cut a promo
- 20:29Speaker 2: on Nikki Bella, and in it she kind of alluded
- 20:33Speaker 2: to the fact that, you know, the last great thing
- 20:35Speaker 2: that you had here died recently and he probably glad
- 20:38Speaker 2: he's left too. And this led to Kelly, which.
- 20:42Speaker 1: We know is Ozzy Osbourne, being from Birmingham. Yeah, so yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 1: Kelly Osbourne, the daughter of Ozzy Osbourne, tweeted or actually
- 20:52Speaker 1: posted on Instagram. First of all, she tags a fan account.
- 20:57Speaker 2: The fan account is probably waking up this more line,
- 20:59Speaker 2: what did.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I yeah, so at Becky Lynch dot fan eleven. I mean,
- 21:04Speaker 1: how dumb are you, Kelly Osborne that you think that's
- 21:07Speaker 1: actually Becky Lynch, Uh, you are a disrespectful dirt bag.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Birmingham would not piss on you if you were on fire.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Hashtag Birmingham forever. Shame on the at WWE for allowing
- 21:20Speaker 1: such things to be said about my father and this
- 21:22Speaker 1: all now unless Kelly's playing into this, I don't like that,
- 21:27Speaker 1: she said, Shame on w W Weed. That seems like
- 21:30Speaker 1: she's not in it.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Well, my thing is my thing about that is it's like, Okay,
- 21:33Speaker 2: I understand it because you don't want to anybody talking
- 21:35Speaker 2: about your family regardless, Like I can understand it from
- 21:38Speaker 2: that aspect. But you've had family, You have family. Both
- 21:42Speaker 2: your parents have been on row programming and I've seen
- 21:46Speaker 2: miscut pro He'll promos on him is basically shitting on him,
- 21:50Speaker 2: saying you know, I've done things better than your entire
- 21:53Speaker 2: career and everything like that, and people act and this
- 21:56Speaker 2: is people say, oh, people are shot. I literally seen
- 21:59Speaker 2: Randy and literally said, Ray, don't look up there for Eddie.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Look down.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Yeah, you had you had MGF tel Brian Pillman, Junie,
- 22:09Speaker 2: your falls not in heaven. Your fathers is in hell.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Now it's just cheap.
- 22:13Speaker 2: It's cheap.
- 22:14Speaker 1: He had, but just to counter that, and I I'm
- 22:17Speaker 1: not pro Kelly Osbourne in this. Those are workers that
- 22:21Speaker 1: were in on it, like obviously MGF went up to
- 22:24Speaker 1: Pilman and obviously you know Eddie and I mean rather
- 22:27Speaker 1: Ray and uh Orton or friend. So they're in on it.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Now here's the main issue I have. Becky Lynch put
- 22:35Speaker 1: Ozzie over. He didn't even get besched. Yeah, he said
- 22:39Speaker 1: the best thing to come out of Birmingham, and then
- 22:43Speaker 1: they sort of just played fun of, you know, the
- 22:45Speaker 1: fact that he left Birmingham. Basically what she said was
- 22:49Speaker 1: along the lines of, you know, he didn't even want
- 22:51Speaker 1: to be here, so he left for Los Angeles. It's
- 22:54Speaker 1: simple cheap heat. It's so nothing. I mean, think about
- 22:58Speaker 1: some of the bad things that were actually said. Remember
- 23:00Speaker 1: when Red Flair died and it was Charlotte and Page
- 23:05Speaker 1: that were feuding. Do you remember that? And then she mentioned,
- 23:07Speaker 1: you know, Charlotte's dead brother, and that got a lot
- 23:09Speaker 1: of heat on the internet.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Well, uh, the Tiffany Charlotte situation about her how she
- 23:16Speaker 2: has she can't marry and yeah, yeah, yeah, that caught
- 23:19Speaker 2: a lot of that. That caught major heat.
- 23:22Speaker 1: But that I don't even think was planned.
- 23:24Speaker 2: And I mean there's been stuff with people who have
- 23:26Speaker 2: shot on people, and it's like back in the day,
- 23:30Speaker 2: it'd be some offenses where people like got stabbed, like
- 23:33Speaker 2: you know, I'm gonna stab this mother.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean, Becky Lynch is old school. Ozzy
- 23:40Speaker 1: Osbourne is one of the most shocking rock and roll
- 23:44Speaker 1: acts of all time, the Prince of Darkness, a man
- 23:46Speaker 1: who bit a bat's fucking head off. The fact that
- 23:50Speaker 1: his daughter is so soft that she's being offended by
- 23:53Speaker 1: something that is putting his dad over in a business
- 23:57Speaker 1: that he clearly had an appreciation for. I mean, he
- 24:00Speaker 1: walk the British Bulldogs out at WrestleMania. He has been
- 24:03Speaker 1: on Raw countless times. He's in their Hall of Fame.
- 24:07Speaker 1: So it's like Ozzie would have gotten this. He understands
- 24:10Speaker 1: it's a show. I don't get that family. The whole
- 24:13Speaker 1: family seems a bit out there. So yeah, maybe we
- 24:17Speaker 1: shouldn't be letting outsiders into the world of wrestling unless
- 24:22Speaker 1: you have a true appreciation like a jelly roll, because
- 24:26Speaker 1: look at the beginning of the year, Corey Travis Scott
- 24:30Speaker 1: clearly didn't have an appreciation for the world of pro wrestling.
- 24:33Speaker 1: He's set up in the biggest angle that has been
- 24:35Speaker 1: taking place in probably twenty years, and then he just decides,
- 24:40Speaker 1: I don't not for me. I'm not gonna show up
- 24:43Speaker 1: to any of this training. And now all of that
- 24:45Speaker 1: means nothing. That entire first half was built around Sina
- 24:50Speaker 1: and Travis Scott and the Rock and none of that
- 24:53Speaker 1: played out because you let an outsider into the business.
- 24:56Speaker 2: And totally redconne Yeah.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Hey literally just said never happened.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Never had, never had you know what, the men.
- 25:03Speaker 1: In Black, the mineralizer, they neuralized.
- 25:07Speaker 2: The men in Black.
- 25:09Speaker 1: It Yeah, it's wild, but yeah, I mean some celebrities
- 25:13Speaker 1: work in pro wrestling. We've seen it. I'm not a
- 25:16Speaker 1: fan of this guy. I think he's a terrible human being.
- 25:18Speaker 1: But Carmel alone worked in the world of pro wrestling.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Dennis Rodman worked in the world of pro wrestling, Lawrence Taylor,
- 25:23Speaker 1: even Floyd Mayweather worked in the world.
- 25:26Speaker 2: You know what the crazy thing is not to go
- 25:28Speaker 2: kind of to go back on it, when you look
- 25:31Speaker 2: at that situation with him in Big Show. Big Show
- 25:34Speaker 2: was like, yes, I'm giving you permission to.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Actually behind me broke the nose.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Yeah, he said, because he's like because Floyd didn't know
- 25:41Speaker 2: how to work it, like, he didn't know how to
- 25:42Speaker 2: work it. Ye do a work punch? Do I just
- 25:45Speaker 2: do open palm or whatever? He said big shows like no,
- 25:48Speaker 2: just hit me. I could take it.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, And it made a moment.
- 25:51Speaker 2: There's some people that can take it, and there's some
- 25:52Speaker 2: people that are willing to work it in that shoot
- 25:55Speaker 2: type style. Well.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Mcfoley's famous for a match with Vader where he told
- 26:00Speaker 1: Vader to, you know, essentially fuck him up. And I'm
- 26:04Speaker 1: not talking about the ear match, but there's another match
- 26:07Speaker 1: where Vader is just pummeling him in the corner and
- 26:10Speaker 1: you know, Cactus Jack gave permission to to just you know,
- 26:15Speaker 1: be unsafe. And some people like to work that way. Others,
- 26:19Speaker 1: you know, don't like that sort of style. But I think,
- 26:22Speaker 1: like I said, there's just too many people are being
- 26:25Speaker 1: let into the world of pro wrestling, without any knowledge,
- 26:28Speaker 1: without any respect. And now I think with this Rajah
- 26:32Speaker 1: Jackson thing, I think we're gonna see less and less
- 26:35Speaker 1: of this. You're not allowed in the locker room. That
- 26:37Speaker 1: never occurred in the eighties ever. There would never be
- 26:42Speaker 1: oh yeah this guy, yeah, let him in the locker room.
- 26:44Speaker 1: We're just gonna allow him in there into our world. No,
- 26:46Speaker 1: you had to earn that right, and if you showed
- 26:48Speaker 1: the respect and you were willing to work with the company,
- 26:51Speaker 1: then you got, you know, sort of behind the scenes
- 26:54Speaker 1: secrets of how the world works. I think we've overexposed
- 26:56Speaker 1: pro wrestling and everything's out there now. There's a whole
- 27:00Speaker 1: show on Netflix explaining everything. And I think all these
- 27:03Speaker 1: podcasts revealing all the secrets I think has been a
- 27:06Speaker 1: downfall of pro wrestling. It's revealing the magic behind it.
- 27:10Speaker 2: True.
- 27:11Speaker 1: I wish we could go back to a simpler time.
- 27:13Speaker 1: You know, remember being surprised by things. It's very rare
- 27:16Speaker 1: these days when we're actually shocked that somebody returned or
- 27:19Speaker 1: somebody you know, he'll turn.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Because now you got dirt sheets and you have a
- 27:23Speaker 2: lot of people that give those information out. So I mean,
- 27:26Speaker 2: my thing is, if you want to be surprised, you can, Yeah,
- 27:30Speaker 2: you can, because you just just avoid, just avoid going
- 27:33Speaker 2: to those spots that you have those spoilers at.
- 27:35Speaker 1: It's tough now because you're so just preconditioned to go
- 27:38Speaker 1: on e wrestling News dot com. Like when I wake up,
- 27:40Speaker 1: that's like the second thing I do just look at wrestling.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I'm looking up, I'm on Twitter, and like you have
- 27:46Speaker 2: wrestled Parents, you have Sean Rose, Sap and fight Full,
- 27:49Speaker 2: you have all these multiple different Dave melts in one.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Or even if you open up Instagram if you're trying
- 27:54Speaker 1: to time, but if you're trying to like avoid like
- 27:57Speaker 1: a pay per view for instance, and you know, maybe
- 28:00Speaker 1: there's like an early pay per view that starts at
- 28:02Speaker 1: three pm and you're not able to watch it till
- 28:03Speaker 1: a PM. You can't open Instagram because it will be
- 28:06Speaker 1: a picture of you know, new champion, like they'll they'll
- 28:08Speaker 1: show what it is, and I get a lot of
- 28:10Speaker 1: that's on me. I should have the self control to
- 28:12Speaker 1: not open the phone. But yeah, I mean the world
- 28:14Speaker 1: we're living in, it's just completely different than it was
- 28:17Speaker 1: thirty years ago. But I just love the past, man,
- 28:20Speaker 1: and I think the world of pro wrestling really hasn't
- 28:24Speaker 1: been the same in recent years. It's become something that
- 28:28Speaker 1: it isn't initially, but it's also making more money than
- 28:32Speaker 1: it's ever done. These deals are ridiculous. The Netflix deal,
- 28:36Speaker 1: the you know, the ESPN deal. These are billions and
- 28:39Speaker 1: billions and billions of dollars even the lesser companies are
- 28:43Speaker 1: making a ton of money. AW is going to make
- 28:45Speaker 1: a ton of money off of their you know, Warner contract.
- 28:48Speaker 1: So everyone's making more money in the business. But I
- 28:51Speaker 1: think we're losing that edge. We're losing that.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Like lose of recipes as.
- 28:58Speaker 1: We're losing like the tough guys in wrestling too. Think
- 29:01Speaker 1: about like even like twenty five years ago, they were
- 29:04Speaker 1: just like badasses that you wouldn't want to fuck with
- 29:07Speaker 1: in the locker room. I mean, you're Steve Blackman, You're
- 29:09Speaker 1: Bob Holly's your JBL's Like, where's the tough guys?
- 29:12Speaker 2: I think this. I think in each locker room does
- 29:14Speaker 2: those guys there's a few of them. Like with an AW,
- 29:17Speaker 2: you have to have Bobby Lashing, who's a legit badass.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's also you know, been around for so long.
- 29:24Speaker 1: What's the next generation of tough guys? Is there really
- 29:27Speaker 1: that guy? I think, you know, some of the simoons
- 29:29Speaker 1: you could definitely put in there.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I think I think when you look at like the
- 29:32Speaker 2: guys who like they they you respect them, but you
- 29:35Speaker 2: know not to really put them because they like they'll
- 29:38Speaker 2: respect you up to a certain point. Yeah, Like I
- 29:40Speaker 2: think Brona gets to that. I think bron Breaker get
- 29:42Speaker 2: to that point.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Oh, I would not want to fuck with him. He's
- 29:45Speaker 1: a psycho.
- 29:45Speaker 2: I think Obafemi, who's Who's Who's a monster. He seemed
- 29:50Speaker 2: like a gentle giant, but like one of those guys
- 29:52Speaker 2: that are like, you leave me the fuck alone and
- 29:54Speaker 2: I don't bother you. But if we have a problem,
- 29:57Speaker 2: then we have a fucking problem. Listen.
- 29:58Speaker 1: It's also a good thing the wrestling industry has evolved,
- 30:01Speaker 1: because there's countless talents that are dead now because of
- 30:05Speaker 1: the way the industry was back in the day, with
- 30:07Speaker 1: the reckless drug abuse and yeah, the bullying. You know,
- 30:11Speaker 1: people shitting in people's gear. It's like, that's not a rib.
- 30:15Speaker 1: That's like fucking awful to have to travel with shit
- 30:19Speaker 1: in your duffel bag or eat a shit sandwich. You know,
- 30:22Speaker 1: Mark Henry literally ate shit. You know that story. Yeah,
- 30:26Speaker 1: Mark Henry got a ship in his sandwich, xbox shit
- 30:30Speaker 1: in the sandwich and Mark Henry ate a literal shit sandwich.
- 30:34Speaker 1: That's why it's referenced. It's referenced in that d X
- 30:38Speaker 1: skit when they dress up as the nation which you
- 30:41Speaker 1: will not be able to find on Peacock, you know,
- 30:43Speaker 1: the one when they're in blackface, but they reference eating
- 30:47Speaker 1: ship and it's all because of he actually ate shit
- 30:51Speaker 1: and they fucked with Mark Henry. He's legitimately was the
- 30:54Speaker 1: strongest man in the world.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Well Mark, No, Well, the thing about it is you
- 30:58Speaker 2: You fucked with Mark and into an extent because you
- 31:02Speaker 2: know you heard the story right about him and jbl.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Right, No one was that.
- 31:07Speaker 2: I forgot when it was. But he told the story
- 31:09Speaker 2: about like they kept fuck they kept fucking with him,
- 31:11Speaker 2: right yeah, And he was wondering why do they keep
- 31:13Speaker 2: doing this? Right? And he says, they fuck with you
- 31:15Speaker 2: because when you get angry, it makes them laugh. Right.
- 31:19Speaker 2: So basically how he dealt with that because he said, Okay,
- 31:21Speaker 2: I'm in and this ship. I'm in. This ship stops today.
- 31:24Speaker 2: So JB I forgot I was messing with him or whatever.
- 31:26Speaker 2: He said. He looked, he found jbl right. They were
- 31:29Speaker 2: all alone. He says, I could find you any I
- 31:32Speaker 2: could find you in a spot just like this, all alone,
- 31:34Speaker 2: and won't nobody do ship about it? Right? Yeah? And
- 31:37Speaker 2: he says I'm sorry, Like he basically counts, I'm sorry.
- 31:41Speaker 2: It's just fun. It's just they made me do it.
- 31:44Speaker 2: It's like okay, and then it's like then then you
- 31:47Speaker 2: started seeing like once he started really like, that's when
- 31:50Speaker 2: that that that the hall of fame, the hall of
- 31:53Speaker 2: pain started when he did when he got that whole
- 31:55Speaker 2: character development, because the whole, the whole genesis of that
- 32:00Speaker 2: was they pranked him. They had him in a ring
- 32:02Speaker 2: waiting and nobody showed, and he said, this is what
- 32:05Speaker 2: the fuck y'all gonna do, and so he threw he
- 32:07Speaker 2: was throwing ship, and he's throwing ship, and when he
- 32:10Speaker 2: got to the back, nobody was there, like Vincent, all
- 32:12Speaker 2: the guys left. So I was like, all right, I said,
- 32:15Speaker 2: what the the is going on?
- 32:17Speaker 1: I might have to add Mark Henry to waste his
- 32:19Speaker 1: potential though too I would.
- 32:22Speaker 2: But uh, I think he did. He became a world champion.
- 32:27Speaker 2: He became world too late, though, too late.
- 32:29Speaker 1: I think he missed out on like his really athletic years.
- 32:33Speaker 1: I think he redeemed himself. But yeah, I guess you
- 32:35Speaker 1: were saying that he turned that actual like shoot being
- 32:39Speaker 1: angry into a gimmick.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Yeah, until until that actually let it. But just give
- 32:44Speaker 2: me a quick second, because I do have to plug
- 32:46Speaker 2: this in or Like I said, this is not a
- 32:49Speaker 2: try not to do a formal review of everything, so
- 32:51Speaker 2: I'm just gonna give a quick rundown of what happened
- 32:53Speaker 2: over the weekend. As far as like pay per view.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a W paper you have.
- 32:57Speaker 2: You had a w Forbidden Door. You had edgend Christian
- 33:01Speaker 2: reuniting against uh Nick not Nick, Wayne kill Switch and
- 33:06Speaker 2: Kip Savian. Match was solid, was the I wouldn't I wouldn't.
- 33:10Speaker 2: I wouldn't grade it higher than anything. It was just
- 33:12Speaker 2: a solid match.
- 33:15Speaker 1: In the fifties.
- 33:16Speaker 2: They it really wasn't nothing. It was just an okay match. Yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 2: you had TBS the TBS Championship, Mercedes Monet Versussephony fors
- 33:25Speaker 2: Alex winsor versus Bozilla. The Bozilla was the standout of
- 33:30Speaker 2: that match, obviously, uh t K. You might have to
- 33:33Speaker 2: jump on that before w W because her dad is
- 33:35Speaker 2: a w W scout, so it seems like a conflicate interest.
- 33:40Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of another match you had. You
- 33:42Speaker 2: had the tag team match between the Hurt Business, Broddo
- 33:46Speaker 2: and f t R. And I hate to say, but
- 33:52Speaker 2: Heart Syndicate. We see what's going on, y'all are playing.
- 33:56Speaker 2: There are the big some of the biggest politicians right now.
- 33:59Speaker 1: I've been eating about it. It seems like MVP doesn't
- 34:02Speaker 1: want to lose to anybody. It doesn't want his guys
- 34:04Speaker 1: to But that was the story going into it. No,
- 34:07Speaker 1: but they lost without getting get pinned.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they got taken out of the matchic ricochet and
- 34:14Speaker 2: the gates of agony, so they didn't get pinned. And
- 34:17Speaker 2: people making a joke like, yeah, you can't be seriously,
- 34:21Speaker 2: it doesn't work for me. Brother.
- 34:23Speaker 1: It's weird that, you know, we've seen another company on
- 34:27Speaker 1: Turner Television fall, you know, away WCW because of the
- 34:34Speaker 1: fact that the inmates ran the asylum and it's just
- 34:37Speaker 1: like you're following the same thing by letting it.
- 34:40Speaker 2: It may it mays run asylum in both companies. If
- 34:43Speaker 2: you look at Whoopy Politicking and WW you'd be surprised.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean at least when Vince was in charge,
- 34:49Speaker 1: and not that I think Vince is good, but the
- 34:52Speaker 1: buck stopped with him. If he didn't want something to happen,
- 34:55Speaker 1: well he was not gonna let it happen. Even he
- 34:58Speaker 1: made the Undertaker fucking he was a WrestleMania the final decision.
- 35:02Speaker 2: The biggest example of people politicket during the Defent's era
- 35:07Speaker 2: Nexus Nexus and Super Sena, Oh yeah, that was yeah,
- 35:11Speaker 2: co I one guy is going to beat five guys.
- 35:15Speaker 1: But that being said, and I love m VP, and
- 35:18Speaker 1: I love Shelton Benjamin, and I think Lashly is fantastic.
- 35:23Speaker 1: They're not John Cena. I feel like when you're at
- 35:25Speaker 1: the whole against Sea level, you'll get to politic a
- 35:28Speaker 1: little better.
- 35:29Speaker 2: No, not necessarily everybody politics. You have Becky Lynch who politics.
- 35:32Speaker 2: You have seth Rawll into politics, see him big politicker
- 35:37Speaker 2: Roman Roman is the biggest politicer guy that you'd be
- 35:41Speaker 2: surprised as a politicker. Sammy's ain't is a politicker.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Well, you know, you got to protect your income.
- 35:48Speaker 2: So no, like for example, when Sammy versus Gunta at
- 35:53Speaker 2: WrestleMania for the title that wasn't supposed to be Sammy,
- 35:57Speaker 2: that's supposed to be Gable is like this, Chad Tom
- 36:01Speaker 2: will come you get.
- 36:02Speaker 1: My wild It would have been a better mattress.
- 36:04Speaker 2: And then Roman, this is how much power Roman.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Had this whole fucking families in the company.
- 36:09Speaker 2: No, no, no, not even the fact that he if he
- 36:11Speaker 2: if he decided to at the snap his fingers. Yeah,
- 36:14Speaker 2: I wanted Jacob and Solo to be tag champs. It
- 36:18Speaker 2: would happen. Like he decides when he wants to work
- 36:22Speaker 2: whatever he wants. So there's a lot going on there.
- 36:26Speaker 2: To get back to the card, I'm trying to I'm
- 36:30Speaker 2: trying to go. I'm trying to I'm not trying to
- 36:31Speaker 2: go with memory. But uh, you had Athena versus Tony Storm.
- 36:36Speaker 2: That was a great It was a it was a
- 36:37Speaker 2: solid match people. It was unfortunate that Tony Storm won
- 36:40Speaker 2: due to submission, and so now kind of puts a
- 36:43Speaker 2: little damper on the Athena title reign because she was
- 36:47Speaker 2: pegged like this dominant Mike Tyson figure just dominating. So
- 36:52Speaker 2: kind of when you tap, like with Gun and Jus,
- 36:55Speaker 2: that kind of puts a damper on it.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Some people should just go their entire career without tapping.
- 36:59Speaker 2: You had Hangman versus m JF. That ended in a
- 37:03Speaker 2: funky way because the ref, the ref counted three right
- 37:08Speaker 2: and he didn't look and see if uh Hangman's foot
- 37:11Speaker 2: was on rope. His foot was on the rope. He
- 37:14Speaker 2: blindly counted three right. So in my eyes, m JF
- 37:18Speaker 2: really won it. Because you didn't see. You just counted,
- 37:20Speaker 2: and then when you came back like minutes later, now
- 37:24Speaker 2: you see that his foot is still on the ropes.
- 37:25Speaker 2: It's like, how do you not know if he just
- 37:28Speaker 2: put it back there just now?
- 37:29Speaker 1: Well, didn't a wrestler come out and say no, that
- 37:33Speaker 1: his foot was on the rope.
- 37:34Speaker 2: No, it was a stupid It was a stupid finish
- 37:38Speaker 2: that kind of that that there was that portion of
- 37:40Speaker 2: the match we almost picked up, but the finish kind
- 37:43Speaker 2: of killed it. Then you had the lights out cage
- 37:46Speaker 2: match between with Kenny Omega, Will Ospray, uh Tanahashi. I'm
- 37:53Speaker 2: trying to think that I felt like there was one
- 37:54Speaker 2: more oh Kodo Bushi versus the Death Riders, the Young Bucks,
- 37:59Speaker 2: uh and some members of the Last some member in
- 38:04Speaker 2: Gabe Kid. That match was phenomenal, probably the best match
- 38:08Speaker 2: on the card. Besides that, the only other thing was
- 38:11Speaker 2: NXT heat Wave. It was a there's two matches that
- 38:15Speaker 2: stood out, Blake Monroe versus Jordan Grace and Oba Femi
- 38:19Speaker 2: versus Javan Evans was a phenomenal match. UH It chose
- 38:23Speaker 2: that they are truly the next up when it comes
- 38:25Speaker 2: to WWE programming. UH Outside of that. You have Russell Palooza.
- 38:30Speaker 2: You have Clash of the Castle coming up next uh
- 38:33Speaker 2: this Saturday, right, Clash of the Castles coming up this Saturday.
- 38:36Speaker 2: You have Roman Reigns versus Bronson Reid. You have the
- 38:40Speaker 2: Fatal four Way I mean a triple threat match between
- 38:42Speaker 2: j Uso Oh no, Fatal four Way seth rollins j
- 38:46Speaker 2: Uso CM punk l A not yeah, uh his retirement. Yeah.
- 38:54Speaker 1: I'm assuming U Rock might get involved in that.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Perhaps probably not, you said Brock. Brock, yeah, Brock, because
- 39:00Speaker 2: I think they teased it on Friday. You have Nick
- 39:05Speaker 2: Nicki Bella Versusachy Becky for the Intercontinental title. For the
- 39:09Speaker 2: women's Intercontinent title, it was supposed to be Stephanie Vackkier
- 39:13Speaker 2: versus Naomi, but due to Naomi being pregnant, that no
- 39:18Speaker 2: longer happened. That's no longer happened, and it just removed
- 39:20Speaker 2: that off the entire card. So now you only have
- 39:22Speaker 2: one women's match on the entire car, which sucks. Basically,
- 39:27Speaker 2: That's that's it for that. Now we're getting into the
- 39:30Speaker 2: Now we're gonna get into the main portion of this episode,
- 39:35Speaker 2: wasted potential, where we're gonna go over some talent that
- 39:39Speaker 2: we felt never reached their top potential. And whether it
- 39:43Speaker 2: be WWE, A w New Japan, Noah, or any other
- 39:46Speaker 2: different promotions for whatever reason.
- 39:49Speaker 1: There's so many, there's so many going through it, Like,
- 39:53Speaker 1: so many people did it because they fucked up by
- 39:58Speaker 1: being addicted to drugs. So many people were held down
- 40:02Speaker 1: because of booking, booking or politicking from other people, others, injury,
- 40:08Speaker 1: other's death. I mean you could make a whole, like
- 40:11Speaker 1: you know, list of Jericho of just the amount of
- 40:15Speaker 1: people that could have been but never got to be
- 40:19Speaker 1: world champion or headline of mania. I mean, there's so
- 40:22Speaker 1: many that we could go over on this list.
- 40:24Speaker 2: So I'm gonna say a name and I'll give some context. Yeah, well,
- 40:27Speaker 2: I think they was held down all like, well, I
- 40:29Speaker 2: think what happened to them? And didn't you give yours
- 40:32Speaker 2: and give the reason and give some details.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Of it and maybe we can argue a little bit. Yes,
- 40:37Speaker 1: I think some of these people, uh probably couldn't have
- 40:40Speaker 1: reached the highest power.
- 40:42Speaker 2: I'll say name right now.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Okay, test, test, Okay, test.
- 40:47Speaker 2: I believe booking.
- 40:48Speaker 1: I like that.
- 40:48Speaker 2: I believe booking didn't allow him to get reached the
- 40:52Speaker 2: level that he possibly could have because he was he.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Had the look he has huge.
- 40:57Speaker 2: He was huge, yet he was he should have been
- 41:01Speaker 2: putting a lot some positions that Triple H was put in.
- 41:04Speaker 1: He was strong. Yeah, I thought he was very good
- 41:06Speaker 1: in the ring for a big man. I loved his
- 41:10Speaker 1: pump handle slam. I love the big boot. I'm with you.
- 41:13Speaker 1: And they had him in the Hottest Angle in nineteen
- 41:18Speaker 1: ninety nine marrying Stephanie McMahon and then Triple H interferes
- 41:23Speaker 1: and then he never got that one on one pay
- 41:26Speaker 1: per view match versus Triple H. The man stealed your
- 41:30Speaker 1: wife and they never capitalized.
- 41:33Speaker 2: I'm not thinking about that, right. They never had an
- 41:37Speaker 2: actual match about that.
- 41:38Speaker 1: They had maybe a few things on raw here and there,
- 41:41Speaker 1: but Test was always looked to be a bitch. He
- 41:44Speaker 1: never got his revenge for that angle.
- 41:47Speaker 2: And then they put him in TNA with Trish Jashon Albert.
- 41:50Speaker 1: And he's a great tag worker. He sort of had
- 41:54Speaker 1: highs and lows, you know, he had a feud with
- 41:55Speaker 1: the Undertaker. They had a pretty good match actually at
- 41:59Speaker 1: Summer Slam tooth thousand and two. Unfortunately for Test, a
- 42:04Speaker 1: lot of the issues involved substance abuse, and he unfortunately
- 42:08Speaker 1: died at a very young age. He was only in
- 42:11Speaker 1: his early thirties. For a while, I.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Didn't even know he was so young.
- 42:15Speaker 1: You know, he had a resurgence in E c W.
- 42:20Speaker 1: But you could just look at him. He is on
- 42:22Speaker 1: so much steroids. You could see all the back, knee
- 42:25Speaker 1: and just he's bloated and unfortunately never reached, you know,
- 42:30Speaker 1: the world heavyweight title. But I think in the world
- 42:33Speaker 1: like today, where you have two championships and two brands.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Now I know he was in the company when there
- 42:38Speaker 1: were two brands, but there's also less star power. It
- 42:41Speaker 1: was gonna be tough for him to elevate in the
- 42:44Speaker 1: early two thousands when you have Rock, you have Austin,
- 42:46Speaker 1: you have Taker, you have Foley, you have Triple H,
- 42:48Speaker 1: you have Angled Jericho, Benwell, all these guys. But I
- 42:51Speaker 1: think if he was around in two thousand and nine, ten,
- 42:55Speaker 1: twenty eleven, he could have been like a SmackDown World
- 43:00Speaker 1: heavyweight champion if he kept his head on his shoulders. Definitely,
- 43:03Speaker 1: one hundred percent.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Yeah, true.
- 43:05Speaker 1: So you got a name, I got one, and this one.
- 43:09Speaker 1: I'm so happy he's found that second wind. Later on
- 43:13Speaker 1: in his life, but he could have been topp tier
- 43:16Speaker 1: and he still had a very great career Hall of Fame.
- 43:19Speaker 1: I'm talking gold dust, Dustin Rhodes. I think Dustin Rhodes
- 43:24Speaker 1: is WCW work. He was an amazing n ring worker.
- 43:28Speaker 1: He had some amazing matches in like ninety three, ninety four,
- 43:31Speaker 1: ninety five top tier stuff versus you know, like Stunning
- 43:34Speaker 1: Stone Cold, Steve Austin, really great wrestlers.
- 43:37Speaker 2: I'll debate you on this one. I don't I think
- 43:40Speaker 2: he I think he tapped out on his potential.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I think you mean by that.
- 43:44Speaker 2: I think he okay and WWE. I don't think the
- 43:48Speaker 2: natural because he did. Because people forget he did try
- 43:51Speaker 2: to be Dustin at one point.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Yeah, he came in as gold dust and then they
- 43:55Speaker 1: gave him so many different versions.
- 43:57Speaker 2: And then right before he left to go back to
- 43:59Speaker 2: w C, he tried to do dustin. But then you
- 44:03Speaker 2: know what, like people weren't really rocking with it. People
- 44:06Speaker 2: really didn't get into it. Like he couldn't get that,
- 44:09Speaker 2: he couldn't get himself over. And then after a while
- 44:12Speaker 2: he just had to say dustin sucks.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gold dust together.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why he did gol Dust right before he
- 44:18Speaker 2: went back to and did rain or what it was.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Fucking Seve ridiculous seven the child pre because why are
- 44:33Speaker 1: you standing outside that? The boys windles when he dropped
- 44:37Speaker 1: that right away.
- 44:38Speaker 2: And he dropped it and shoots down.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Yeah. So he had his issues with drugs and substance
- 44:44Speaker 1: and weight issues. But I think that initial gold Dust
- 44:49Speaker 1: run they could have gave him a world title run.
- 44:51Speaker 1: I thought he was so over. But the issue is
- 44:54Speaker 1: he played into the gay, the fear of gay. I mean,
- 44:57Speaker 1: that was that's what his thing was. They'll try and
- 45:00Speaker 1: spin it another way, and so she was in drodging
- 45:02Speaker 1: this and we're just doing that. But he was so
- 45:05Speaker 1: over initially, but there were such pushback by different organizations
- 45:10Speaker 1: that they had to tone back a lot of that stuff.
- 45:13Speaker 2: I'm not going now. Okay, Now I kind of agree
- 45:15Speaker 2: with you because I felt as though early go Dust,
- 45:18Speaker 2: creepy go Dust. Yeah, he could have been something because people.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Like, remember the feud with Piper Hollywood Street, Hollywood unbelievable.
- 45:27Speaker 2: One of one of the best matches in Russia.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Dad love that we would rewind that because he loved
- 45:32Speaker 1: Piper and he just thought that was even so fun.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Even though the match was like so like that was
- 45:37Speaker 2: the first iteration. That was the first iteration.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Of a cinematic match.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Yeah, a cinematic match was like they had to Yeah,
- 45:45Speaker 2: what is going on?
- 45:46Speaker 1: So much fun? But then here's another thing, Corey. I'm
- 45:50Speaker 1: watching w c W two thousand and one. Now, don't
- 45:53Speaker 1: ask me why, but I'm just trying to just trying
- 45:55Speaker 1: to finish it out. I know people who have I'm
- 45:57Speaker 1: two episodes done with this thing. This is like not
- 46:00Speaker 1: this is like fifteen years in the making because I
- 46:02Speaker 1: used to watch it back on the WWE Classics on
- 46:04Speaker 1: demand in twenty four to seven and all that reason.
- 46:07Speaker 1: It was so good, but they stopped at some point,
- 46:09Speaker 1: so they never finished Nidro And then I've been putting
- 46:12Speaker 1: it off on this new network thing for the last
- 46:14Speaker 1: decade now, but I'm gonna finish it before the peacock
- 46:16Speaker 1: thing goes away.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Me too.
- 46:17Speaker 1: But I'm watching Dustin in two thousand and one, and
- 46:21Speaker 1: he's an amazing shape at this point. I think this
- 46:24Speaker 1: is the best physically that he ever looked like this.
- 46:26Speaker 2: He's feeling like the button up in the red.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Yes, yes, okay, and he's teaming up with his dad
- 46:33Speaker 1: to take on Flair and Jarrett, and he's cutting amazing promos,
- 46:37Speaker 1: he's connecting with the audience, and he's putting on some
- 46:40Speaker 1: great in ring work. I think if WCW stuck around
- 46:44Speaker 1: and he had his head on his shoulders and he's
- 46:46Speaker 1: with his dad, I could have seen in two thousand
- 46:49Speaker 1: and one him become a world champion there. So he
- 46:52Speaker 1: had that to where he could have reached that potential.
- 46:54Speaker 1: And then he came back with Booker T and he
- 46:57Speaker 1: was doing some fun stuff, but he never kept in
- 46:59Speaker 1: good sho But I'm happy now in his mid fifties,
- 47:02Speaker 1: he's finally found what he's there for and he's putting
- 47:05Speaker 1: on his best matches. I probably he's had a decade.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Should I say a hot take when he was doing
- 47:12Speaker 2: the stuff with Booker T. That I know. So I
- 47:16Speaker 2: know that Stardust is meant to be a version of
- 47:18Speaker 2: gold Dust, right, but I feel as though he was
- 47:21Speaker 2: in his own Stardust art at that moment where he's
- 47:24Speaker 2: like this, But the only difference between him and Cody
- 47:27Speaker 2: was Cody decided to do something about it. He free
- 47:30Speaker 2: reinvented himself and he made he made wwe want him
- 47:35Speaker 2: instead of him wanting w W dustin Dustin never did that.
- 47:39Speaker 2: It was always a situation was like, Okay, things not
- 47:43Speaker 2: going well at this company. I'll go back to WW
- 47:45Speaker 2: and do what iut normal.
- 47:46Speaker 1: He went to TNA. I think that's when he was rained.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Yeah, he did that.
- 47:49Speaker 1: He was gigantic, he was over three hundred.
- 47:51Speaker 2: And then what did he do? He went back to
- 47:54Speaker 2: w W the gold dust again. It was like whenever
- 47:57Speaker 2: things went downhill, he relied back on that gimmick. And
- 48:00Speaker 2: when Cody was like once he was stuck in that
- 48:02Speaker 2: gimmick and he's seen that how things going, He's like,
- 48:05Speaker 2: you know, fuck this shit. Uh just fired me at anything. Yeah,
- 48:09Speaker 2: and he walked out. He didn't even wait to get fired.
- 48:11Speaker 2: He said, I'm walking out. Fuck about it.
- 48:14Speaker 1: What you got wasted potential?
- 48:16Speaker 2: You know, it's a wasted potential. And I felt like
- 48:18Speaker 2: he could have did something and he was so fucking young.
- 48:22Speaker 2: Uh Renee Duprix.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's just the case of bullying the French.
- 48:27Speaker 1: That's just the case of Bob Holly being an asshole.
- 48:30Speaker 2: And I got I got the next one, all right.
- 48:32Speaker 1: I got one. I got one. And this was at
- 48:34Speaker 1: a time when MMA was really in his infancy, but
- 48:39Speaker 1: when Ken Shamrock came over to the WWE, he was over.
- 48:44Speaker 1: He was initiated into the wrestling world in a giant match,
- 48:48Speaker 1: one of the greatest matches ever, being the special guest
- 48:50Speaker 1: referee for Austin and Bret Harder wrestling a third choun.
- 48:54Speaker 2: I got a hot take about this, wellt's hear it
- 48:57Speaker 2: if he would have stuck him around and they actually
- 48:58Speaker 2: would have booked him, right mm hm. Can you imagine
- 49:02Speaker 2: him on the SmackDown six with angle In when they
- 49:05Speaker 2: were in their prime.
- 49:07Speaker 1: And him feuding with Lesnar. Imagine that now, Shamrock was
- 49:11Speaker 1: his own worst donemy. He didn't like the road schedule,
- 49:14Speaker 1: he wouldn't show up on time, he would miss certain things.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Was he the best promo, No, of course not. But
- 49:19Speaker 1: I think he could work around somebody when they have
- 49:22Speaker 1: actual charisma and he had that it factor. He had
- 49:26Speaker 1: the background. You know, he was on ABC, taunted uh
- 49:29Speaker 1: touted as the world's most dangerous man. I mean, he
- 49:32Speaker 1: was a champion of MMA for the UFC, so I
- 49:35Speaker 1: think he had an amazing look. The only issue is
- 49:37Speaker 1: he had Austin, he had Rocky had all these other
- 49:39Speaker 1: guys around him.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Two things. Two things about Shamrock. One, I didn't like
- 49:43Speaker 2: the stem storyline with al Venus. Yeah, I was like, okay,
- 49:48Speaker 2: I'm good off, I'm so good off, I'm so good
- 49:50Speaker 2: off that. But the one that I can say, I
- 49:52Speaker 2: would say, I would say booking held him back a
- 49:54Speaker 2: little bit, but I would say it achieved its goal
- 49:57Speaker 2: in this one thing. Where as the kid, you know
- 50:00Speaker 2: how they tried to pay him as being as dangerous
- 50:04Speaker 2: as Tyson right as a little kid, There's not too
- 50:08Speaker 2: many things I remember about like the attitude era when
- 50:11Speaker 2: it was actually happening. That was one when he would
- 50:15Speaker 2: go crazy, bag changed and just start suplexing everybody because
- 50:20Speaker 2: I remember the Tyson situation with Tyson, you know, he
- 50:23Speaker 2: was wilding on the offices in the ring, right, and
- 50:27Speaker 2: it just gave me that type of vib So they actually,
- 50:30Speaker 2: when I was a kid, I actually thought kinshim Rock
- 50:33Speaker 2: was crazy and.
- 50:34Speaker 1: He probably was, and he probably could have kicked the
- 50:36Speaker 1: ship out of anybody in that WWE locker room. But dah, yeah,
- 50:40Speaker 1: that's one of them. You got another unmatched potential.
- 50:44Speaker 2: On my tag team. I got a tag team.
- 50:47Speaker 1: I got a tag team too.
- 50:48Speaker 2: What do you got, I got, I got PLND Oh
- 50:51Speaker 2: my god. And Brian Kendrick.
- 50:52Speaker 1: They're so good. They're so good that yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 50:56Speaker 1: I was once you said tag team that is that
- 50:58Speaker 1: is whose they They were so good, so ahead of
- 51:01Speaker 1: their time.
- 51:02Speaker 2: So we think about when people say who's the best
- 51:04Speaker 2: tech team of all time? You got people who say
- 51:06Speaker 2: the Hardys, the Sners. You got people who say you
- 51:10Speaker 2: LD l O D. You got people who say.
- 51:12Speaker 1: The Bucks, the Young b Yeah, those people.
- 51:15Speaker 2: You got people who say that. But I think when
- 51:18Speaker 2: you think when you think of like the young Buck
- 51:20Speaker 2: hardy style, I think Paul London and Brian Kendricks advanced
- 51:24Speaker 2: it enough past the Hardys, but were pretty before the
- 51:27Speaker 2: Bucks where they could have where they could have actually
- 51:30Speaker 2: took over the industry, and they they I felt as
- 51:32Speaker 2: though creative held them back. It's like a situation where
- 51:36Speaker 2: if they were in like R O H or the Indies,
- 51:38Speaker 2: they were killing it. But the fact that they were
- 51:40Speaker 2: I don't think, wwe work this style, dude.
- 51:42Speaker 1: They took the best bumps they knew how to sell.
- 51:46Speaker 1: They didn't do over the top gymnastics spots like the
- 51:49Speaker 1: Young Bucks. They took an ash whopping better than just
- 51:52Speaker 1: about anyone. You know, the Paul London clipped versus snitsk
- 51:56Speaker 1: get the Royal round ball when he gets closed line
- 51:58Speaker 1: does the flip? Can you know? He had his moment
- 52:02Speaker 1: as a single wrestler really didn't work out. He was
- 52:05Speaker 1: sort of doing like a HBK thing.
- 52:08Speaker 2: You remember when he first got well with Ezekiel.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Yeah, he was supposed to be his diesel.
- 52:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but do you remember how I first got introduced.
- 52:15Speaker 1: To Spanky right? Yeah, but yeah, they were so fucking
- 52:23Speaker 1: good Corey and they're charismatic. Have you ever watched any
- 52:25Speaker 1: of their shoot interviews. They they're really funny dudes. And
- 52:29Speaker 1: I think, yeah, they dropped the ball, but also they
- 52:33Speaker 1: were small. That was the only thing going against them.
- 52:37Speaker 1: They were, you know, probably five to seven, one hundred
- 52:40Speaker 1: and fifty pounds.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Sing about that is though, when you're exciting, you're just
- 52:42Speaker 2: exciting because you don't have to win the world title anything.
- 52:46Speaker 2: But the fact that they were tag team champions and
- 52:49Speaker 2: they were getting they were getting over, they were over.
- 52:51Speaker 1: You'll. You know, the thing is, Vince ric Man famously
- 52:55Speaker 1: hates tag team wrestling. He's just not a fan of
- 52:58Speaker 1: that style. So a tag team was never going to
- 53:01Speaker 1: be over over, But I wish they stuck around together
- 53:05Speaker 1: for many more years because they could have been feuding
- 53:08Speaker 1: with the Ushos, they could have been feuding with the
- 53:11Speaker 1: New Day. I mean, they're still relatively young. They're probably
- 53:14Speaker 1: AJ Styles age, probably younger than AJ Styles actually, so
- 53:18Speaker 1: they could have kept on wrestling. Unfortunately, Paul London got
- 53:21Speaker 1: fired because you remember he was smiling during the Vinch
- 53:24Speaker 1: McMahon Limo segments. And then Kendrick, uh reason, Kendrick his
- 53:29Speaker 1: training Ronda Rousey, and I think he posted some Nazis.
- 53:33Speaker 2: Ship that wasn't that because he uh he he was
- 53:38Speaker 2: he was working in the PC. He was working in
- 53:40Speaker 2: the PC. He's working in PC for a long time. Yeah,
- 53:43Speaker 2: and then once aw came around, he was off the job.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Uh in o lead wrestling. He took the job the
- 53:50Speaker 2: day the day he was booked for a match. Ye,
- 53:55Speaker 2: some information came out like an old post.
- 53:58Speaker 1: It was like Nazis No.
- 53:59Speaker 2: No, it was basically like Holocaust denial.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Oh that's what it was. Yeah, Yeah, it was like
- 54:05Speaker 1: they came out that day.
- 54:06Speaker 2: He came out literally either the day of all the
- 54:09Speaker 2: day before. I remember, I remember somebody said, how do
- 54:11Speaker 2: you get fired on your day.
- 54:14Speaker 1: I love them though, I thought they were fantastic. That's
- 54:18Speaker 1: a great answer there, Corey. I'm gonna go with a
- 54:20Speaker 1: guy that I think actually is very similar to them
- 54:25Speaker 1: with ability to take a bump. And I think the
- 54:28Speaker 1: one two three kid aka XPOC for a time was
- 54:33Speaker 1: a top two or three in ring performer. You go
- 54:37Speaker 1: back and watch his stuff in ninety four and ninety five,
- 54:41Speaker 1: I have him right up there with Brett and Sean.
- 54:44Speaker 1: And I'm telling you also when he came back to
- 54:46Speaker 1: the WWF in ninety eight and ninety nine, very few
- 54:50Speaker 1: people were as good of in ring performers as him.
- 54:53Speaker 1: He might have actually been the best in ring performer.
- 54:56Speaker 1: I thought he brought an edge to every group that
- 54:59Speaker 1: he came into, you obviously being in the nWo and
- 55:02Speaker 1: being in DX, and I thought he cut a decent promo.
- 55:05Speaker 1: His size was a little bit of a hindrance, you know,
- 55:08Speaker 1: being a smaller dude. But I think as far as
- 55:11Speaker 1: wasted potential Xbox, Sean Waltman could have been what is
- 55:16Speaker 1: Shawn Michaels was. Maybe he didn't have quite as much charisma,
- 55:19Speaker 1: but he had more of an edge. He had more
- 55:21Speaker 1: of a bad assery and I love that dude. I
- 55:24Speaker 1: think he's a great dude outside of the ring, and
- 55:27Speaker 1: I think he could have been a staple in pro
- 55:30Speaker 1: wrestling for quite some time, but he wasted his potential
- 55:33Speaker 1: by getting addicted to drugs. And he obviously got kicked
- 55:35Speaker 1: out of the ww at some point and hasn't really
- 55:39Speaker 1: been back in mainstream wrestling for quite some time. And
- 55:42Speaker 1: he's sort of, you know, doing his thing now and
- 55:44Speaker 1: he seems happy in life right now, but he's had
- 55:46Speaker 1: some dark days. He tried to kill himself in Mexico
- 55:49Speaker 1: years ago, but I'm happy to see that he's in
- 55:51Speaker 1: a much better place. So I'm a big XBOT guy,
- 55:54Speaker 1: is right.
- 55:55Speaker 2: So when it comes to like it when it was,
- 55:57Speaker 2: when it comes to fall wrestling, you ever heard term
- 56:00Speaker 2: of xpot go away heat. Yeah, So I'm like, did
- 56:04Speaker 2: he do something he not? I'm not talking about the
- 56:07Speaker 2: drug stuff. I'm just talking about maybe like entring promot.
- 56:11Speaker 2: Do you think that some of that hindered him like late,
- 56:13Speaker 2: like I want to say in that when he was
- 56:15Speaker 2: doing an X Factor, Yeah, like X Fact the era
- 56:17Speaker 2: of I don't think people were really no, no, because.
- 56:20Speaker 1: He didn't evolve he was still doing this like the
- 56:23Speaker 1: grungy sort of shit that was popular in like the
- 56:26Speaker 1: late nineties, when it was like two thousand and three,
- 56:29Speaker 1: two thousand, you know, two wish era. I also think
- 56:34Speaker 1: that he could have, you know, done better as far
- 56:39Speaker 1: as taking care of his body. He just he was
- 56:42Speaker 1: reckless with a lot of his bumps and a lot
- 56:45Speaker 1: of his injuries. He never took time to actually fully recover.
- 56:48Speaker 1: He wrestled with a broken neck. A lot of these
- 56:50Speaker 1: guys never wanted to lose their spots, so they didn't
- 56:53Speaker 1: take care of themselves, and that's what led to the
- 56:56Speaker 1: drug addiction. They say, oh, I got to perform tonight,
- 56:58Speaker 1: instead of actually taking seven eight months off, they just
- 57:02Speaker 1: you know, took steroids, took drugs, took cocaine, took muscle relaxers,
- 57:07Speaker 1: pain pills, and went out there and that fucked with
- 57:09Speaker 1: his mind. And unfortunately, you know, I really say, I
- 57:13Speaker 1: want to say this, actually, Corey. I think one of
- 57:16Speaker 1: my favorite tag teams of all time was Kane and XPOC.
- 57:20Speaker 1: I love that time. I love that dynamic of one
- 57:24Speaker 1: guy who's just sort of a monster and the other
- 57:26Speaker 1: guy is the you know, the smaller guy who takes
- 57:29Speaker 1: all the heat in the ring and you make the
- 57:31Speaker 1: hot tag. I mean, that's such a formula that works.
- 57:33Speaker 1: And they really don't have any teams like that today
- 57:37Speaker 1: that I could think of. I know they tried that
- 57:38Speaker 1: with aj and Omas but never really worked out. But
- 57:42Speaker 1: Kane XPOC was great. XPOC had some great matches versus
- 57:45Speaker 1: Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho and versus Brett Hart on
- 57:49Speaker 1: Raw in nineteen ninety four, in my opinion, is one
- 57:52Speaker 1: of the greatest matches ever Brett and one two three kid.
- 57:57Speaker 1: Make sure to watch that match if you haven't seen it.
- 57:59Speaker 1: It's unreal.
- 58:00Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go We're gonna go one more because
- 58:02Speaker 2: I want to get you out of there. Won't let you
- 58:03Speaker 2: go eat uh So yeah uh and then hopefully, hopefully,
- 58:09Speaker 2: I don't know, down the road, I want to continue
- 58:11Speaker 2: this series.
- 58:11Speaker 1: Because I have so many and we could do it
- 58:13Speaker 1: the opposite way. People that overachieved, people that shouldn't have
- 58:16Speaker 1: been as big as they were, but you know, you
- 58:18Speaker 1: did it.
- 58:19Speaker 2: That is definitely, that's definitely down in the pike. We're
- 58:21Speaker 2: gonna get that. We're gonna try to get that done soon.
- 58:23Speaker 1: All you got one more I got one more, one more.
- 58:25Speaker 2: It's like the final draw. My final one would probably
- 58:29Speaker 2: be Keith Lee.
- 58:32Speaker 1: They're going a little modern with this, Yeah.
- 58:33Speaker 2: I'm modern with this. I don't. I think. I think
- 58:36Speaker 2: multiple things held him back. I think, for one, uh
- 58:39Speaker 2: in w W E booking because he was pegged to
- 58:44Speaker 2: be that guy. And if you, if you really, if
- 58:46Speaker 2: you looked at UH that Survivor series when NXT, Roman
- 58:50Speaker 2: put him over Big, Yeah, Roman put Roman put him
- 58:53Speaker 2: over Big.
- 58:54Speaker 1: I didn't watch NXT, but when I saw him, I
- 58:56Speaker 1: was like, this guy is the real deal. He seems
- 58:58Speaker 1: like they're going to push this.
- 58:59Speaker 2: He put a he hit that power bomb on him,
- 59:01Speaker 2: and I think he was a socialvivor for NXT and
- 59:05Speaker 2: he was actually doing something. And then the thing that
- 59:09Speaker 2: around that time when the n XT was like if
- 59:11Speaker 2: you were on NXT, you were golden. Everything was good.
- 59:14Speaker 2: But once you jumped to the main roster with Vince
- 59:17Speaker 2: booking you, it could go to ship. And unfortunately for
- 59:20Speaker 2: Keith it went to ship because they changed his whole gimmick.
- 59:23Speaker 2: They made him shave his beer, they put him in
- 59:26Speaker 2: a set, they put him in a single it and Uh,
- 59:30Speaker 2: they changed his name the bear cat League, and it
- 59:33Speaker 2: was just it was just downhill from there. And I
- 59:36Speaker 2: think he had he had he had to leave that
- 59:38Speaker 2: company because there was no room for growth there, especially
- 59:41Speaker 2: under that regime.
- 59:42Speaker 1: He was older though he was not a young guy
- 59:44Speaker 1: when he was getting into the business, like or at
- 59:47Speaker 1: least when he was in NXTC.
- 59:50Speaker 2: Yeah, but he was. He was still one of those
- 59:52Speaker 2: guys that like he could pull it off and he
- 59:54Speaker 2: was still good.
- 59:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:56Speaker 2: But then once he goes to a W I think
- 59:59Speaker 2: you switched over to injuries and things.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: He didn't take care of himself and his health.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Plagued him up in certain such certain circumstances.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of mystery as like what
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: actually was going on with that. I don't know if
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: it was COVID or long COVID or some sort of.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Issue, because if I remember correctly, you know, he tagged
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: with swervest Swerve Strickland. They had the Swerve No Glory, uh,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: And so they had that tag team and then they
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: broke up and then it was supposed to lead to
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: a feud. They never got their match, and it got
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: to the point where Swerve was just like, fuck it,
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: I'm just gonna do it. I'm done with this. Let
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: me just move on to what I got to do
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: to whether it be on the Dark or whatever. He
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: just took any type of bookingt and till this day,
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: you don't even see you don't see Keith.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Lee on the roster. Still he's still on a w's insane.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: Uh. I don't think that's known about him so far
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: as that he was at the w W Hall of Fame.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: He's at the w W. Uh he because he's married
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: to meet him?
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Oh so he was there this past past year.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: He's yeah, he's very MEETCHI uh so he's no, I
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: think he was the past year of the year before.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: I think they get undertaking.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: Did they show him on TV or.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: Accidentally they accidentally they accidentally showed him on it and
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: they actually accidentally took a picture. But yeah, that's who
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: I'm going with. Who's your who's the final guy? All right?
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: My last thought, and again I have a long list.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: I'm not going to even give any of these names
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: out because we'll get back to it at some point.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with one, and it's such a tragic one,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: and that would be Brian Pillman. I think Brian Pillman
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: had all of all of what it takes to be
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: a pro wrestler, obviously being a former football player. He
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: had the athleticism. I mean, this guy was not a
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: big guy, but he was larger than life. He had
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: pure charisma. You want to talk about a promo. This
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: guy blended reality with fiction better than anybody at a
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: time when stuff like that wasn't done. This was at
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: a time when everybody knew pro wrestling was staged. He
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: was blurring those lines of reality that whole ninety five
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: ninety six when he was in E c W and
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: wg W and feuding with the booker man Kevin Sullivan.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: It was unreal.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: You know, do you I know, you know the story
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: about what happened with that.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Right yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, he fucked over Eric.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: He no, you gotta let me actually be free. Nobody's
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: gonna believe he's like really got my fucking release. I'm out.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. But if you look at like prior to that,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: his in ring work was unbelievable, Lying Brian teaming up
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: with stunning Steve Austin with the Hollywood Blonds, I mean
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: they were having fantastic matches with the you know, Steamboat
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: and and uh Shane Douglass and then Juice and Thunder
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: and thunder Liger in him you had a series of
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: amazing matches. You know, he's a Stampede guy, Brian Pilman,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: so he was having matches with you know, Ben wy
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: and Owen Harp back in the late eighties.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: So I'm gonna ask you a question, Yeah, what do
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: you think delve him from reachail his whole?
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Potentially he got into a horrific accident, messed up his
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: ankle which led to even more drug abuse. I mean,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: if Brian Pellman shouldn't have been alive to begin with,
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: he had I want to say, over thirty surgeries on
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: his throat, which gave him that raspy voice. But he
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: had cancer as a kid, so he was not long
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: for this world from the beginning. But he overcame all
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: those things. And imagine what could have been because him
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: and Austin already had a built in story being former
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: tag team champions. Imagine Austin versus Pilman ninety eight, both
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: of them healthy.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Can I say something?
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: I think also booking had something to do with it,
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: because if you remember when before he passed, he was
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: in the gold Dust vortekes with him and the Marlin.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: Yeah, he's in that type of situation where I was like, okay, but.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: He couldn't even wrestle at the time he had maybe
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: he only had like nine or ten matches in WWFF.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: He had no ankle. Essentially, he was working on one leg.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Because I remember he did do the Stampede match.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, which is, you know, the crowd achievement of
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: his WWF run. He had that infamous Pillman three sixteen
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Pillman nine millimeter promo, Remember that when Austin went to
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: his house and he pulled out a fucking gun and
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: the USA Network was like, yeah, we can't be pulling
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: out guns on television.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: But ye.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: I mean, this guy was the Attitude era, before the
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Attitude era. Think of this shit he was doing with Austin.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: I mean, even to this day, whenever somebody gets a
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: steel chair and puts it around someone's ankle, they say
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: they pilmanize them, because there's a famous angle where Austin,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: you know, does that to Pillman's ankle. I think this guy,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: if he was still able to work the way he
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: was working in ninety three and ninety four, ninety five,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: but had the promo skills that he had in ninety five,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: ninety six, ninety seven. Are you kidding me? Imagine the
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: feuds he could have had with Kurt Angle. Imagine Angle
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: playing that goofy sort of guy, and Pillman could have
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: went back to a like a raw, badass babyface him
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: versus Jericho, these two you know, stampede boys. When added
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: the promost that would have happened with Pillman and the
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Rock Pillman and and you know Sina. Because he was
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: relatively young, Pilman could have wrestled well into the twenty tens.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: So I think that's to me, that's the most wasted
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: potential of anybody. I love Brian Pilman, and uh you
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: know his son Unfortunately, just he don't have it. He
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: ain't Brian Pillman. He's not.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Oh. I was like, don't don't disrespect Janata Lexus.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Can some people just you know, there's Curtis Axles in
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: the world.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: No, I feel like when you, Lexus, I think he
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: has the potential.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: He doesn't have the athleticism.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: Well, I just I disagree.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: He cannot do what Pilman did in the ring.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: Don't I think he actually a better athlete.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: That's the that's the worst take you've had.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: Can I just cook for a second?
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Cook, you're gonna burn it.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Because the thing who I think he doesn't aspire to
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: be like his dad. I already knew who he aspires
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: to be like.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Who would that be?
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: He basically copies the Kenny Omega handbook. That's who he
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: tries to be. And for the most part he can
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: pull off a good imitation. Sometimes.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: I haven't seen him since he went to w W A.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I just remember his a W run he had. Here's
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: lackluster he pulled.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: He pulled the eight with Moose, him and Moose had
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: eight eight when you go to cage match an eight
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: star eight match, colleague type of match. So I mean
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: when he wants to. But for the most part he's
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: just a gimmick. God. Now I wish they would book
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: him more seriously and put him as Brian Pillman Jr.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't get.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: It's the same thing with Change, It's the same thing
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: with with Broun Breaking, Curtis Axel should have just been
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: Joe Henning all these guys.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: It's just the name is It's important if you have
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: a dumb name You can't picture somebody with a dumb
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: name as World Champions.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: Rock Daughter's Ava Johnson, I mean Ava Rain, Yeah Johnson.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Why capitalize on the most famous man in the world
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: that makes no sense and everyone knows it's the daughter.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: See now, look at somebody successful, Charlotte Flair, because they
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: have the name.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: And you can use that in storytelling. That's the beauty
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: of it.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: You say you know Brett Hart, he trained in the dungeon,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: his dad Stuhard. You could tell stories based on the
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: father or grandfather. Look at Orton generation.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Some nepotism does requiet the name.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: So, but I want to thank everybody for listening into
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: another episode of The Recess. I mean not this is
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: presented by the Recess bell, but when the bell rings,
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: this is called when the bell rings, presented to you
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: by the Recess. Seah, I just fixated, watched.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: A little bit, but that's fine.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: I watched and I recovered baby. Uh. Like I said,
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: I want to thank everybody who for tuning into today's episode. Uh.
