  Everybody loved them. A lot of people didn't realize

  So does that because. Did you ship to the new Tobacco

  Hell, because the, the, the fire the firecracker, when we do a

  collaboration that's a that's a limited, limited run, that's a

  limited production. So it goes to our firecracker

  retailers and in limited quantities and we just, you

  know, unfortunately we go down our list and, and when they're,

  you know, when they're gone, they're gone.

  OK, that's understandable. And I think that's what a lot of
• 6:42
  people sometimes miss with those, is that once they're
• 6:45
  they're out there, they're out there.

  And if you find them and you're lucky enough to find them, get
• 6:49
  them, because you probably won't find them again.

  Right, just like this Bandolero Firecracker that all shipped and
• 6:56
  once it's on the shelf, you're talking about Bandolero
• 6:58
  Firecracker on top of it, you're talking about a cigar that's

  aged. That was that was aged close to
• 7:02
  two years. Typically Bandolero was aged one
• 7:05
  to two years post role, but that particular Bandolero was, was
• 7:08
  aged close to two years. That was just timing.

  Timing. Yeah.

  Timing wise, we already had things in place.

  And once we, you know, did the 1st edition of Bandolero
• 7:19
  Firecracker and then and then it shipped out after we spoke to
• 7:24
  Nelson Alfonso and to to see if he wanted to do another
• 7:28
  production by the time we got it into play.
• 7:31
  It still has to be, you know, Rolls is tobacco's, Tobacco's
• 7:36
  are the age of it has to be shipped to Costa Rica.

  Once it's rolled in Costa Rica, after it's rolled, it's shipped
• 7:43
  back to Madrid to go through the aging process.
• 7:45
  Just like all the selected tobacco.
• 7:47
  There's nothing that stays at that, that factory in Costa
• 7:50
  Rica. Everything is shipped back to
• 7:51
  Madrid and that's where every cigar, Atabe, Byron, Bandolero
• 7:55
  go through an aging process. So Bandolero firecracker went
• 7:59
  through that aging process of sitting in a humidor with five
• 8:02
  different Cedars, lowering humidity, raising it back up for
• 8:06
  the course of those two years. So what, what that does for the
• 8:09
  cigar and and imagine Atabe sitting in a in a humidor for a
• 8:12
  minimum of five years. So when you're lowering humidity
• 8:15
  and raising it back up, the cigar is actually purging any
• 8:18
  other impurities in the cigar. But then it's breathing in all
• 8:21
  the different cedar notes. So it's cleansing itself and
• 8:24
  just getting a, a deeper, richer flavor.
• 8:28
  And and the tobacco is a merry really, really marrying
• 8:30
  together. It's like scotches and whiskies
• 8:32
  when they sit. The longer they spend time in
• 8:34
  the barrel, just the better they are, the more pronounced the
• 8:37
  flavors are. That's insane.

  That's that's interesting. I know, I know.
• 8:45
  That probably intrigues OG very much that entire aging process.
• 8:51
  That's a different, it's a different, it's a different
• 8:53
  animal completely. OG seen them aged.

  The one where we went to Jewish state, he's seen the aged.

  Oh, you seen the we're talking about the curing barns.

  OG when we seen them aging. Yeah.

  So, so the curing when he, when, when tobacco goes to a curing
• 9:12
  bar, that's one process, that's one step, right?
• 9:15
  The tobacco is picked, it goes to the curing barn to dry.
• 9:19
  And then once it goes from the curing barn, then it's going, it
• 9:21
  has to go through fermentation. The tobacco has to go through
• 9:23
  aging. I'm talking about the cigar is
• 9:25
  rolled. No one else in the the industry
• 9:27
  does this because it's madness. Once the cigars are rolled, then
• 9:30
  they're placing the humidor to go through extra aging.
• 9:33
  Now there are cigars that sit in the humidor at the same
• 9:36
  temperature, same humidity. But in order for cigarter to
• 9:39
  really cleanse itself, to really bring in all those different
• 9:42
  cedar notes, 5 different Cedars, you have to put it through a
• 9:48
  little bit of stress without affecting and breaking, cracking
• 9:52
  the wrapper, right? So lowering humidity, raising it
• 9:54
  back up. That's just that is, that is,
• 9:57
  that is, I'll call it Cuban Spanish madness, and that's
• 10:03
  Nelson Alfonso. Wow, now Nelson works directly
• 10:07
  for you or he works for other people too?
• 10:10
  No Nelson Alfonso owns Selected Tobacco, So United Cigars.

  We are the US distributors of Selected tobacco.

  And and what does what does he make besides the the
• 10:25
  firecrackers? So Nelson Nelson Alfonso we
• 10:29
  partnered with to do the bandolero firecracker, but
• 10:32
  Nelson and selected tobacco. They make the Atabe the Byron
• 10:37
  Byron 1850 Alfonso and Niejo Alfonso grand selection and the
• 10:42
  Nelson and these are all extremely limited productions.
• 10:46
  When he comes out with a new line like the Nelson, which just
• 10:49
  came out in A5 pack tube collector's edition set with,
• 10:53
  with an ashtray, you know, they're, they're less than yeah,
• 10:58
  I mean on some of those for actually less than 5000 cigars
• 11:00
  rolled because he has to, you know, and he rolls now.
• 11:04
  Now imagine he's rolling 5000 cigars for year one.
• 11:10
  Then there's shifts in Madrid. They go through aging.
• 11:12
  Now year 2, he has to do another production and he might, he
• 11:15
  might increase it based on what his feeling is on that blend.
• 11:21
  Like OK, it's, it's aging well after the first, you know,
• 11:23
  couple months after the first year.
• 11:24
  So now you UPS the production, then that production, second
• 11:27
  production goes into aging. So now you have two cigars
• 11:30
  aging. So that's your one year 21
• 11:32
  cigars you aging for two years. Now another batch goes into
• 11:35
  production that's going to be the third year.
• 11:38
  The first year is already now aging for three years.
• 11:40
  That third year production is now aging for one year.
• 11:43
  Now you have to roll another production, right, Because you
• 11:46
  have to, you have to catch up to the four years of post roll
• 11:49
  aging before that cigar meets meets the the market.

  So he'll roll about 5500 thousand cigars a year in his
• 11:58
  entire production, but at any given point he could have two
• 12:02
  million 3,000,000 cigars aging. Holy sugar.

  So that's, yeah, that's what distinguishes selected tobacco.

  That's why you have an elevated price point with selected
• 12:14
  tobacco because of the the extra aging, the fermentation process
• 12:19
  is different than than than than some most of the industry.

  You know, ages is tobacco in in wine barrels, which I don't want
• 12:30
  to say is common, but it's is done right.
• 12:32
  But he has a lot of extra steps that that just aren't aren't
• 12:36
  used in the industry, which sound a little bit crazy.

  But in the end, the final product, we hope that the
• 12:44
  consumers is able to taste all the the time and the love that
• 12:47
  goes into that cigar. Wow, wow, that's, that's, that's
• 12:54
  amazing actually. So what are you doing in Canada

  this week? You know, I wanted, I wanted
• 13:03
  some, I wanted some time just to just to get away smoke in
• 13:07
  United, spreading the good United word to our our northern
• 13:10
  neighbor. Converting.

  Oh, converting some of these, some of these Canadians to the
• 13:17
  United Way, although it is tough because now I had to get, you
• 13:22
  know, just finalizing the, you know, we're checking out today.

  So getting the the Wi-Fi from the from the hotel.

  Yeah, I got the international, but I don't know, for some
• 13:31
  reason it's just not, it's not connecting well.

  Yeah, that's what I heard. I heard it.

  When you get the international stuff, it doesn't work that
• 13:38
  well, so. Yeah, Now it works when I'm

  travelling to Dominican. I, I can use my phone when I
• 13:43
  travel to, I was at into Tabak one year.

  I was in, you know, Madrid. When I was in Madrid visiting
• 13:49
  the facility for selected tobacco, Nelson Alfonso's
• 13:53
  facility, it was working fine. But I don't know, you know, they
• 13:57
  got a block on my phone. They blocked you for going to
• 14:01
  Canadian, right? So, so tell us, tell us about
• 14:11
  your next steps with United Cigars.

  What is going on with United Cigars?
• 14:18
  So United Cigar, that's a that's such a it's a great question
• 14:22
  loaded because United Cigars were, you know, it's a company
• 14:26
  that started in 19 O1 and throughout the US they had built
• 14:31
  over 3000 retail locations. They partnered with Whalen Drugs
• 14:35
  and they were just all over the US and if you if you were to
• 14:37
  search online for United Cigars Vintage, you would find they had
• 14:44
  they had a flying cigar lounge branded plane.
• 14:47
  They had a catalog where you could purchase items based on
• 14:50
  the points you they had. They had like little teaspoons
• 14:55
  even with the United logo in it, matchbook covers like they
• 15:00
  branded United with everything. So that's why they grew to 3000
• 15:05
  their own personal retail location.
• 15:07
  And and then they they were bought out by the company, that
• 15:11
  same company that bought out Marvel Comics.
• 15:13
  Because if you could imagine, it wasn't necessarily a
• 15:16
  tobacconist. It was a retail store that sold
• 15:19
  a lot of different products, right?
• 15:21
  So they sold Marvel Comics so in those stores and they ended up
• 15:25
  getting getting bought out purchase.
• 15:27
  Then in 2009 United Cigars started again with brands that
• 15:31
  are in our portfolio that we manufacture.

  It wasn't a distribution company at the time.
• 15:36
  It was just a company that that started United Cigars with
• 15:39
  brands that we have like a la Gianna United Firecracker and
• 15:45
  and a lot of the brands in our portfolio date back.

  The firecracker started and hit the market really in 2007.
• 15:52
  It started in 2006, hit the market in 2007.

  There were a couple collaborations that that were
• 15:58
  done, one in 2010 with the M80, but that's why hey, then another
• 16:02
  one was done and then really in 2016, 1516, that's when the
• 16:07
  yearly collaboration started. So this is the Firecracker has
• 16:10
  the longest running collaboration project in the
• 16:15
  industry, right? Since since that time, every
• 16:17
  year there's been at least one different collaboration that
• 16:21
  comes out with Firecracker. So we did, you know, at the time
• 16:23
  when we started La Florida Dominicano, I believe was the
• 16:27
  the La Florida Dominicano was the first one.
• 16:29
  Then it was Roma Craft. It's been Christophe.
• 16:32
  We built it and we we worked in when I say collaboration, it's a
• 16:36
  true collaboration because when it is something that works for
• 16:41
  the manufacturer, because it it's not an easy, we told the to
• 16:44
  really put to market. So when it works, then then
• 16:47
  you'll see the second editions coming out.

  We did a second edition with Perdomo.
• 16:51
  We did a, a second and third edition with the MI Carita
• 16:54
  firecracker, which turned into a tricky tracker, which turned
• 16:58
  into a, A line for, for Dunbarton.

  So it's a way for manufacturers to kind of tweak their blend
• 17:06
  because we want it to be a representation of their brands,
• 17:09
  but also represents the firecracker, right?
• 17:13
  So when we collaborate, we use their, their blends, they, they
• 17:16
  blend it and we, we tweak it and it's mostly on their end where
• 17:19
  it can represent the firecracker profile.

  All right, not only the size with the, with the fuse on the
• 17:25
  end, the extra tobacco, but, but the blend has to represent
• 17:29
  firecracker. So they work on that and it's
• 17:31
  been a, it's been a great collaboration and United United
• 17:35
  was one that we released through the through the company.

  It was, it was never a cigar brand when United started, but
• 17:41
  but we rolled, we wanted a flagship brand.
• 17:43
  So it used to be box pressed. We went down to the Dominican
• 17:47
  and re blended it because the Brazilian Montefina was a
• 17:50
  beautiful tobacco, but harder. It became harder and harder to
• 17:53
  source as other companies started to to use it.
• 17:57
  So when I went down, I found some Dominican broad leaf and
• 18:00
  that I thought was it wasn't overpowering.
• 18:02
  It wasn't like a, you know, a, a, a peppery or, or deep broad
• 18:08
  leaf, but it had just a ton of, of character, a lot of
• 18:11
  sweetness. So I started to blend the United
• 18:14
  blend. We have the sun grown, the
• 18:15
  Connecticut and the Maduro in this blend and it's absolutely
• 18:19
  fantastic. Yeah.

  Thank you, thank you, thank you. And you know, so so plans for
• 18:23
  United, we want we want consistency.

  We do have collaborations. We do have limited productions
• 18:30
  that come out. But looking at what United
• 18:33
  Cigars started at as a company in 19 O one and the history, we
• 18:38
  want United Cigar. We want the firecracker, our new
• 18:42
  Gold Star that just released in 2024, the core line released in
• 18:47
  2025. That brand when it's actually
• 18:50
  first released, it was a limited production.
• 18:52
  So we helped raise over $30,000 for the Navy SEAL Gold Star
• 18:54
  families with that that line. And then, then we had the core
• 18:58
  line that came out in 2025 and then our Red Anchor also
• 19:01
  celebrating 250 years of the brand in 2022.

  So you're, you're talking about a lot of brands that have
• 19:09
  history. So what's our plan?

  It's really being the, the, the brand that's on the shelf that
• 19:15
  you can trust, that you can go back to for consistency, good
• 19:20
  price points, a a cigar that just has a recognition in the
• 19:25
  industry and for consumers as a, as a brand that is trustworthy.

  Wow, I I thought I knew United cigars.

  I guess I know nothing. Jeez, I just got educated right

  there. I'm just going to shut my mouth

  And there's still there's so much more.

  What's interesting about our really just any industry right

  is how do you get in front of the the consumer and.

  We're we're very proud of the fact that we you won't find us

  in the deep discount online. You won't find us in the deep
• 20:10
  discounted catalogs. We want to protect brick and
• 20:12
  mortar because that's how that's how it started.

  And that's what United Cigars was in 19 O one right building,
• 20:17
  building all those retail locations.

  If we don't have retail, try, try traveling, you know, some of
• 20:24
  the some of the consumers out there, try traveling to other
• 20:26
  States and see what their smoking laws are like.

  See how easy it is to smoke. Because when you're sitting in
• 20:33
  the lounge in a state that allows you to have a cigar, you
• 20:36
  don't have to have a membership. You know, you don't have to have
• 20:39
  cigars that are covered. You know, you're talking about
• 20:43
  countries that are starting to pass laws where there's a
• 20:46
  generational ban. There's a packaging that's going
• 20:49
  to be covered. Massachusetts has about 5 towns
• 20:51
  that have generational ban already.

  So really. If if we're not, yeah, if we're

  not protecting brick and mortar. And I say that like, yes, you

  can get a discount online or through a catalog, but are you
• 21:06
  helping yourself or you just taking advantage of what's out
• 21:09
  there right now? Taking advantage.

  You're thinking you're taking advantage, save a couple bucks.

  I get it. We're all trying to save a

  couple bucks, but you're hurting brick and mortar and you're

  taking away your own your own lounge and you're taking away

  the cigars that are that that are just it's France

  craftsmanship. It's it's artistry.

  That's why Park Lane closed, because of what just happened.

  trying to be one of those generational ban states where

  it's statewide where they're trying to pass a law that has a

  same thing statewide. More than just individual towns,

  but the whole state. So you got to support brick and

  mortar? Absolutely, I agree.

  You know, somebody, somebody just reached out to me the other

  day. They're like, hey, I was having,

  I was trying to find some, some United cigars in this.

  You know, there's one spot. It wasn't, wasn't even a cigar.

  You know, lounge as, as maybe somebody you know, or as I know

  that you can't walk in. It's a membership only because

  that's, that's what you have to have to do.

  You know, like there are ways, little ways around it.

  Like if you have a a cigar lounge, but then you have a

  membership lounge next door where you can smoke.

  But if you're visiting the state and you can buy a cigar, but

  then you have no place to smoke it, what are you going to do?

  Minnesota or Minneapolis? There's one shop there that's

  really that's that's fighting because Minneapolis wants to

  pass pass a law where there's a 15 minute smoking time.
