- 0:00Speaker 1: Mark Simon, mister New York now three hours every weekday
- 0:05Speaker 1: from nine till noon. R Hey, let's I can call
- 0:11Speaker 1: us eight hundred three two one zero seven ten is
- 0:14Speaker 1: the number. Let's go to Don and Long Island, Don.
- 0:16Speaker 1: How you doing? Hey?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Mark?
- 0:19Speaker 3: Great, I'm glad you're on an extra hour. How are
- 0:22Speaker 3: you coping with that?
- 0:23Speaker 1: It's not easy. It's not easy, but it's like it's
- 0:25Speaker 1: like push ups. You can do ten and there's no problem.
- 0:27Speaker 1: But if you practice, you can do twenty and it
- 0:29Speaker 1: seems to be no problem. You just got a practice,
- 0:32Speaker 1: it gets easier.
- 0:33Speaker 3: I'm curious. Remember the storms they had two years ago
- 0:36Speaker 3: down in South where where everybody couldn't connect with each
- 0:39Speaker 3: other and talk, and then Elon Musk sent starlink to them. Yeah,
- 0:44Speaker 3: I'm wondering, why can't we do that to Iran? So
- 0:46Speaker 3: we can so they can form a resistance against their government.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Well, how are you gonna get how are you gonna
- 0:52Speaker 1: get them there?
- 0:54Speaker 3: I don't know. I guess satellites, isn't it. You can
- 0:57Speaker 3: just shoot?
- 0:58Speaker 1: I know, but how do you get them? You have
- 0:59Speaker 1: to get to meet a starlink dish? How do you
- 1:01Speaker 1: do that?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Okay? I didn't think about that. I don't not Yeah,
- 1:06Speaker 3: I just know about what happened in Downtouth where so
- 1:11Speaker 3: people connect with each other.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Well, that was easier. You just drive a truck down.
- 1:14Speaker 1: They're filled with starlink dishes and pass them out. You
- 1:17Speaker 1: can't drive a truck into I ran with them, and
- 1:19Speaker 1: you could deprove it.
- 1:20Speaker 3: I got you. You thought I had a brilliant idea. Okay,
- 1:23Speaker 3: thank you.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Now you could parachute one in, but I don't know
- 1:27Speaker 1: if anybody would know what to do with it when
- 1:28Speaker 1: they got it. Let's go to Rob in Long Island.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Rob, how you doing market morning? I learned that Alaska
- 1:36Speaker 4: has a program for dividend distributions to its residents on
- 1:39Speaker 4: royalties for oil sales. And to get that check every year,
- 1:42Speaker 4: they've got to show ID eight percent of the people
- 1:46Speaker 4: who live there sign up for this dividend check. And
- 1:49Speaker 4: so it seems really foolhardy that Murrakowski can't vote for
- 1:52Speaker 4: the Save Act if you can show idea to get
- 1:55Speaker 4: that that that that check. In addition, though, when you
- 1:58Speaker 4: sign up to get that money, you're automatically enrolled to vote.
- 2:02Speaker 4: But when you vote, they tell you, oh, if you're
- 2:05Speaker 4: only a resident and not a citizen, you're not allowed
- 2:08Speaker 4: to vote. So they set the table for potential fraud
- 2:11Speaker 4: on their own and then they on their honor system.
- 2:14Speaker 4: They don't do that, and the other twenty percent of
- 2:16Speaker 4: people can go on the Internet and they have a
- 2:19Speaker 4: way to show ID to vote. So her whole notion
- 2:21Speaker 4: about not being able to show ID as cruel as
- 2:24Speaker 4: it's nonsense. And the last point I want to make
- 2:26Speaker 4: is that Alaska is a hearty state that has the
- 2:30Speaker 4: history of the Iditarod and Mount McKinley and the Klondike.
- 2:34Speaker 4: If they can have done all that, they can figure
- 2:36Speaker 4: out a way to go vote.
- 2:37Speaker 3: No.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Absolutely, very good point. Excellent, Rob. I like that idea.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Though you get a dividend from the oil sales every
- 2:45Speaker 1: citizen get. You know, when they say, well a lot
- 2:48Speaker 1: of people can't get a voter ID, let's give out
- 2:50Speaker 1: a diffend. Let's give out some money and see how
- 2:52Speaker 1: fast anybody can get a vot Everybody can get a
- 2:54Speaker 1: photo ID real fast. If there's money to be made
- 2:57Speaker 1: off it. Let's go to mic and Portchester. Mike, how
- 3:00Speaker 1: you doing all right?
- 3:02Speaker 5: Mark, glad to talk to you again. I just called
- 3:06Speaker 5: because you were reminiscing about some of the buildings down
- 3:09Speaker 5: in New York. Yeah, and uh when the old pan
- 3:13Speaker 5: Am building, which has met life now, there used to
- 3:16Speaker 5: be an Italian restaurant on the first floor. And my
- 3:21Speaker 5: late wife, she was a student at Catherine Gibbs, so
- 3:26Speaker 5: he used to go down and meet her down there,
- 3:29Speaker 5: you know, and hit that place.
- 3:31Speaker 1: This is fascinating to Leone's. Mama Leones, I forgot about
- 3:35Speaker 1: that place. What was the one in the PanAm I
- 3:36Speaker 1: don't remember an Italian restaurant there, but.
- 3:39Speaker 5: You know what, the name escaped me, but it was
- 3:42Speaker 5: a restaurant in the very first floor when you go in.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Mamalyoni's. Where was that Times.
- 3:49Speaker 5: Square theater district, Yeah, down that way. Yeah, but you
- 3:53Speaker 5: know that's like the old the German the German restaurant.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Luause I forgot the name of it. Yeah right, yeah,
- 4:02Speaker 1: But you know what, you got much better restaurants today.
- 4:04Speaker 1: You got you know, there's no Mama Leonies, but you
- 4:07Speaker 1: got the car Mines, which is very good. You got
- 4:09Speaker 1: a million great Italian restaurants. You got Patsy's, well that's
- 4:12Speaker 1: always been there, but you got better, better restaurants today,
- 4:16Speaker 1: much better restaurants today. You know, if you went back
- 4:19Speaker 1: to the seventies or eighties, the best steak in New
- 4:22Speaker 1: York Peter Lugers, and people go there. Now go Yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 1: it's good, but it's not the best way. That's because
- 4:30Speaker 1: over the last couple of decades, much better steak houses
- 4:33Speaker 1: of open. You got a million great steak houses here.
- 4:35Speaker 1: You got Mastros, you got Del Frisco, you got Capitol Grill,
- 4:38Speaker 1: you got Smith and Lanski, you you got a million bits.
- 4:42Speaker 1: It's like JG. Mellon up Reside. Ooh, that was the
- 4:44Speaker 1: best hamburger in New York. And it was back then,
- 4:47Speaker 1: but now there's fifty better hamburgers in New York. They're
- 4:50Speaker 1: all over the place. Now let's go to Sammy and
- 4:54Speaker 1: Howard Beach. Sammy, how you doing.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I'm doing great. Market. You just want to add to
- 5:00Speaker 2: that gentleman last tour that was talking about tour buses.
- 5:04Speaker 2: One of the big things in New York City right
- 5:07Speaker 2: now are tours of mob history historians.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Yeah, well, we just bring the bus by your house.
- 5:14Speaker 6: It sounds like ohe absolutely, you'd have a field day here.
- 5:19Speaker 2: But either way, you know, you got this Sheridan Hotel
- 5:23Speaker 2: where at a stage.
- 5:25Speaker 1: You got shot killed in the barbershop albert Anastasia is
- 5:28Speaker 1: killed right over there in the corner fifty sixth and seventh.
- 5:32Speaker 2: That's that's correct. Right up the block from you. You
- 5:36Speaker 2: have Anny of the Chins social Club down on the
- 5:40Speaker 2: Sullivan Street, right next Saint Anthony. So you really have
- 5:45Speaker 2: and John Gotti's Social Club, of course is now a boutique.
- 5:51Speaker 2: How about that.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yeah, And you got, of course the Copa Cabanna. That
- 5:54Speaker 1: was quite the mob hangout. The Copa Cabana is now
- 5:57Speaker 1: Ava the restaurant.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Great Copa Sine in good Sellas.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, now that was a little when they go into
- 6:06Speaker 1: the Copa and they go through the kitchen and they
- 6:09Speaker 1: make twenty seven different turns. It wasn't really like that.
- 6:12Speaker 1: It was like four turns on camera. Yeah, it was
- 6:16Speaker 1: quite a shot. It was quite a shot they took
- 6:19Speaker 1: for it was like an eighteen minute shot or something
- 6:22Speaker 1: where they start on the street, the camera follows Henry
- 6:24Speaker 1: and Karen down the stairs and then they make all
- 6:28Speaker 1: these different turns to get into the main showroom by
- 6:32Speaker 1: going through the kitchen. In real life, if you did that,
- 6:35Speaker 1: you only make about four turns. It's not twenty seven
- 6:37Speaker 1: different turns, but it's all one take all those turns,
- 6:42Speaker 1: all through all that, and then into the copa and
- 6:45Speaker 1: then they bring the table and it sits at the table,
- 6:47Speaker 1: the show starts, Henny Youngman comes out. It's like an
- 6:49Speaker 1: eighteen minute shot and they got it perfect. And apparently
- 6:54Speaker 1: Henny Youngman a couple times screwed up to take, so
- 6:57Speaker 1: they had to do it again. But in the end
- 6:59Speaker 1: it all out just fine. Let's go to Walt in Yonkers, Walt,
- 7:03Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 7:04Speaker 6: Pretty good?
- 7:05Speaker 2: Mark?
- 7:05Speaker 1: The best restaurant ever ever in Manhattan? Katsus Delhi get
- 7:09Speaker 1: a salami fa boy.
- 7:10Speaker 6: In the Army.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Katsus is pretty good. It's very good. Cats It's but
- 7:14Speaker 1: the Carnegie was better. The stage was better in its day.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Second Avenue Delhi is pretty good. Although kats Is it's
- 7:22Speaker 1: from the movie when Harry met Sally. So it is

- 7:44Speaker 1: And this Habit Habit Burger that is supposed to be
- 7:48Speaker 1: like the new best burger chain, even better than In
- 7:50Speaker 1: and Out in the latest studies. Where is it in
- 7:52Speaker 1: New Jersey, Florham Park Mark where the Jets headquarters is
