- 2:32Speaker 1: You don't like the Utah spelling? Weird well nomes. Now,
- 2:37Speaker 1: there's a there's a link to an article at the
- 2:41Speaker 1: Deseret News and they're talking about names and how Utahs
- 2:46Speaker 1: have the tendency to give their sometimes give their kids unusual,
- 2:50Speaker 1: unusual names. But they say, you really, you really shouldn't
- 2:55Speaker 1: do that because a nineteen nineteen fifty four or study
- 3:00Speaker 1: published in the British Journal of Psychology said that a
- 3:04Speaker 1: child's character can be affected by their name, said that
- 3:08Speaker 1: they do don't do as well in school as general rule,
- 3:13Speaker 1: and they get picked on.
- 3:16Speaker 2: And I have a list here there there's a disturbing
- 3:21Speaker 2: trend in naming kids weapons inspired names.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh yeah, like rifle one.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Remington, Ruger, cult by Arson. Who's naming their kidsson? Oh?
- 3:37Speaker 1: My god, Cutter. Yeah, there you.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Go, Caliber, Mace. Hell, these are all these are all
- 3:47Speaker 2: names that are appearing on the They think they think
- 3:50Speaker 2: they sound tough. Maverick, Stetson, stets Dutton, it'sn't too much Yellowstone, Lesson, Shooter, Shooter.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Shooter Jennings. That's Waylan Jennings, kid.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Trigger after all, the kid trigger. I mean that's Gunner.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I mean that's an old Scandon name name, so I
- 4:16Speaker 2: don't think that really counts.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And Colt can be short for Colton.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Yeah, but Tristan says, my son goes to school with
- 4:26Speaker 3: a boy named Renegade.
- 4:28Speaker 2: No do that to your kids. Why would you do
- 4:33Speaker 2: that to your kids?
- 4:35Speaker 1: Well, because you think you're you. You know, it's school.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Knew a guy who's twin boys were named Gauge and Gunner.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Mm hmm, well we know a Gauge Gauge four representative
- 4:48Speaker 1: from up there in the valley Gina.
- 4:50Speaker 2: That's that's another old, older name, not that I don't.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Think, and Gauge is an older man.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I don't peak. But to the point of that article
- 5:02Speaker 2: Bill was reading, when you're thinking of naming your baby,
- 5:06Speaker 2: you know, picture them as an adult, Picture them walking
- 5:11Speaker 2: into an office and holding out their hands. I'm serious,
- 5:15Speaker 2: and to shake somebody's hand, you know, like they're introducing
- 5:18Speaker 2: themselves and say hi, my.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Name is my name is pistol, my name is Renegade.
- 5:25Speaker 1: No one's going to take them seriously. But what about
- 5:29Speaker 1: the I mean, these names are just you know, you
- 5:33Speaker 1: want to you think they're so common, you want to
- 5:37Speaker 1: you want to name your kids something that's not just
- 5:40Speaker 1: absolutely common.
- 5:41Speaker 2: You name your kid James, No one's he's not going
- 5:44Speaker 2: to have a hard time in life.
- 5:45Speaker 3: As General points out, at least this makes it easy
- 5:48Speaker 3: to identify the s Heads, or at least the children
- 5:51Speaker 3: who were raised by s Head's not the kid's fault,
- 5:54Speaker 3: don't say.
- 5:55Speaker 1: But don't you run into some unusual names sometimes that
- 5:58Speaker 1: you think, well that's kind of cool.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but if you ask them, and it happens here
- 6:03Speaker 2: all the time, when people call and you pointed out,
- 6:06Speaker 2: you're like, well, that's an unusual name, or how do.
- 6:08Speaker 1: You spell that?
- 6:09Speaker 2: Or where does that? I think most people don't want
- 6:12Speaker 2: to have to go through their life explaining who they are.
- 6:16Speaker 1: And I don't know that the guy who runs the
- 6:20Speaker 1: bowling alley up there, Ben Woman Lanes Lanes his name
- 6:24Speaker 1: is Chayten and I think it's c h A y
- 6:27Speaker 1: t O N. I think. And I asked him, that's
- 6:31Speaker 1: an unusual name. Why what is it? And he and
- 6:35Speaker 1: thankfully he knew because I said to him, you know
- 6:37Speaker 1: a lot of pe times people say, I don't know
- 6:39Speaker 1: why my parents name me that. But it's a it's
- 6:41Speaker 1: a native he said, it's a different spelling, but it's
- 6:44Speaker 1: a Native American word for it. Noway to say hawk,
- 6:47Speaker 1: I think it's a hawk.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And to address all the people that are taking me
- 6:52Speaker 2: to task, Festus is not his really, I do.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Not if it's his name. Is not this radio name.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Take it from somebody who named their kid Festust. And
- 7:07Speaker 1: Festus is a biblical name anyway. Festus was a king
- 7:10Speaker 1: in the Old Testament. Here's a text. We have a
- 7:12Speaker 1: nephew named Remington. He lives in Idaho. Of course he does.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Of course, we've hoped you'd enjoyed another list with Radio
- 7:20Speaker 3: from Hell on X ninety six.
