- 2:56I want to give you the most basic vital information that will serve you in the long run.
- 3:01So today we're going to be discussing the testing.
- 3:04Hormone panel testing.
- 3:06We're going to talk about three types of testing that I've seen out there.
- 3:10We're going to go to the advantage, the seven digits and accuracy of the test.
- 3:16Today.
- 3:16Now patients will come to my clinic and they will tell me.
- 3:19Dr.
- 3:19Jay.
- 3:20I think my hormones are out of rock.
- 3:22That's what I hear often.
- 3:23And now we'll ask them.
- 3:25Why do you mean remember from our last hormone imbalance session one?
- 3:31We talked about how stayed in natural hormones are imbalanced is not enough.
- 3:35You have to be more specific.
- 3:37Why because we have 60 plus hormones in our bodies.
- 3:40And they are constantly changing.
- 3:42Homeland fluctuates day and night, and they are, they traveled throughout our bodies looking for receptor site.
- 3:48And I believe.
- 3:50And I see this in my practice as well, that you can not guess when it comes to balancing your hormones, you must test.
- 3:58And that is why we're going to talk about the three most common tests, the ones that you're willing to ask for.
- 4:02It's going to give him the best.
- 4:04results.
- 4:04That's going to help you identify the markers you need to focus on to balance your hormones.
- 4:09So it was shocking.
- 4:11For me to learn that most people.
- 4:14I never, never got the home on tested.
- 4:17Some of them are in a early fifties, late sixties, and they've never get the Homeland tested.
- 4:23How often see patients.
- 4:24on prescription hormonal medications, what is the pill?
- 4:28The patch, the IUD.
- 4:29Palette hormonal products.
- 4:31without even half the homeless checked.
- 4:33And to me, that's dangerous because if you don't check your hormones and you are taking hormonal products, you will put yourself at risk for overdosing.
- 4:42Yourself.
- 4:42And that's happening left and right.
- 4:44So then I will ask my patients that are coming in my clinic with those hormonal products, medications, The patch or cream, palettes or whatever it is, I'll ask them.
- 4:54How do we know you are getting the right treatment or the right dosage?
- 4:58And we'll ask them, are we hoping and praying your symptoms will be addressed?
- 5:02Are you feeling better?
- 5:03And they will often tell me that the G I feel like crap.
- 5:06I don't feel better.
- 5:07I've been taking this hormones and I'm not seeing results.
- 5:10And 90% of the time they were for horrible.
- 5:14Or if they are seeing improvement in the improvement is short term, It's like very short lived.
- 5:19Because the body recognizes the synthetic products.
- 5:23That we are ingesting.
- 5:24We are put into skin or under.
- 5:26Our skin in terms of parents or IUD.
- 5:28Insert into a vagina.
- 5:29And the body start throwing in central.
- 5:31We have to understand when we reach a certain age, you have to evaluate your hormones.
- 5:36Because they are part of your cellular makeup and many people completely ignored the part, this part of the health.
- 5:43Right there.
- 5:44Check everything else.
- 5:45Except for the hormones.
- 5:46And I know some practitioners out there do not believe in hormone testing.
- 5:51That is why you have to become an advocate for yourself to ask for the right testing.
- 5:55We cannot guess when it comes to hormone imbalance.
- 5:58Member sometimes you might have too much of this too.
- 6:01Little of that.
- 6:02You have to evaluate your hormones.
- 6:04As I mentioned, they are part of your cellular makeup.
- 6:06You have, you cannot completely ignore that.
- 6:08sometimes you might have.
- 6:10Too much in too little, You have to be more specific on the homeless.
- 6:13I need to balance and how aggressive you have to be with the treatment.
- 6:17Also.
- 6:18Before you explore hormonal replacement therapy.
- 6:22Meaning that feeding your body, this exogenous hormones, like the hormones you get from products because your body doesn't make it when your body makes it it's endogenous.
- 6:31When you get it outside, it is exogenous.
- 6:34You need to know the dosage.
- 6:35We can actually do not offset your body from producing the natural ones.
- 6:41If you have enough estrogen.
- 6:44And then your doctor and don't check your hormones and put you on estrogen products.
- 6:48You're going to go into estrogen dominance.
- 6:50Your body we'll stop making the estrogen and then you find yourself having way too much.
- 6:55And sometimes when you check your hormone panel, when you do a hormone panel and you see the levels and needs to be balanced, Most often you Bobby need a small dose.
- 7:04Or you might need to detox or you might need to supplement.
- 7:08So remember hormones are needed for vital functions.
- 7:11They are needed for prevention.
- 7:13By the, I need it for our heart, our bones.
- 7:16memory and our skin, our sexual health.
- 7:19There needed four moons.
- 7:21You need to check your hormones.
- 7:23Testing for hormone imbalance is crucial.
- 7:25We never guess.
- 7:26I see a lot of guessing going around leading to people, being sick and staying stuck and not getting the work results.
- 7:34And as I mentioned, I've seen many doctors who do not believe in hormone testing..
- 7:39So, what are the different steps out there?
- 7:42Let's discuss.
- 7:43But first it is important to know that all tests or give you relevant information in terms of levels.
- 7:49However, when you look at them, it's like comparing orange.
- 7:53To bananas to apples.
- 7:56When you look at all the testing out there, you are comparing orange.
- 8:00To bananas to apples because they are not the same.
- 8:04Today, we're going to discuss serum, hormone testing.
- 8:07Saliva hormone testing and also urine.
- 8:10Again, they are not different.
- 8:12They are not the same.
- 8:13They are different.
- 8:14And we're also going to discuss the accuracy of each one.
- 8:17So hormones are produced by our Glen's adipose tissue.
- 8:21And also.
- 8:23different part of our bodies.
- 8:24And as a reminder, they are circulating.
- 8:27In our bodies, they are looking for carrier.
- 8:30To warn them to accept the sites.
- 8:33So remember if you don't check your hormones and you receiving treatment, it's like you have a blindfold on and you just try and I guess you touch and things to see if that's the right thing for you.
- 8:42About eight to 10% or 10 to 15 of our hormones are considered free.
- 8:47Hormones meaning that they are biological active, meaning, meaning they are available.
- 8:53To bind the receptor site, they are free and this is the ones we need to check the free one.
- 8:58Not the one that's already bound to put down two, except the site.
- 9:01These are no good to us.
- 9:02We need to look at the free one to see the level of them.
- 9:06Remember that free hormones, bio logical, active hormones.
- 9:11So the first thing we're going to talk about is the blood test.
- 9:14Let's get into it.
- 9:15As we can.
- 9:16Already imagine.
- 9:17Blood testing is the most common one that is prescribed by many practitioners.
- 9:22It is.
- 9:23Widely available.
- 9:25You can test many things with the blood.
- 9:28You can, you know, check your stare words.
- 9:30You can do title, hormone testing.
- 9:32Your LH FSH.
- 9:35estrogen pedestrial and this last one, DHS, I mean, you can test a lot of mockers with the Salem tested.
- 9:40And it is easier for insurance to cover.
- 9:43So that is why most patients before that test, Seven testing measures the hormones that are really bound.
- 9:51The homeless.
- 9:51Really none available, non bio-available.
- 9:55Remember those are not the hormones we need to look at in order to balance our homelands.
- 9:59Serum testing, which is the liquid of the test.
- 10:02Only the text, the hormones and the liquid of the blood.
- 10:04Not the hormones that are, this in the south.
- 10:06This hormones are not available for the body to utilize for yourself theater.
- 10:11I realize for your tissue to absorb.
- 10:13It is not.
- 10:14we are the big picture of how much hormones available already.
- 10:19for the, for the body to use.
- 10:21Sarah I'm hormones testing does not allow the correct measurement of metabolites, which is how your body.
- 10:28With Dan, the hormones.
- 10:30That's what we call metabolites.
- 10:31We'll talk about that in a few.
- 10:32Which can provide useful information to assist your doctor and also you, in understanding your particular condition to have guide treatment options, most of us do not love needles, so that's not this advantage of stem hormone.
- 10:48And if you are not hydrated properly, you best believe when you go to your laboratory, they will be poking around.
- 10:54If you on hormone replacement therapies that the cream, the transdermal patch.
- 10:59the pallets on and so forth serum, hormone testing is not a good indicator.
- 11:05To see if the therapies.
- 11:07Our work in hormone replacement therapies or work at.
- 11:09aNd that's why with serum, if you're looking at serum for testing, you will get overdose.
- 11:14I guarantee you.
- 11:15I see it happens all the time.
- 11:17Now let's talk about the advantages disadvantages and also accuracy.
- 11:21At vintages of CRM is that it's widely available or laboratories can do it.
- 11:27It is covered by insurance.
- 11:28It doesn't involve any much work from you.
- 11:30You just show up right to the laboratory and then the phlebotomist will.
- 11:33To work.
- 11:34This advantages is lacking.
- 11:35Again.
- 11:36You go to the clinic.
- 11:37It's not sometimes not convenient.
- 11:39Although it's an advantage disadvantage.
- 11:41The blood serum testing.
- 11:42It can be expensive because some insurance might not cover or you might have to have a copay.
- 11:48You might have to give money.
- 11:50if the insurance only cover a portion of it.
- 11:52So over time, As you are monitoring your hormone treatments because you have to do multiple testing that can add up.
- 12:01So that's why it is.
- 12:02Sometimes can be more expensive than saliva and new and tested.
- 12:06dry and blood requires needles.
- 12:08Some of us are needle phobic out there can be uncomfortable.
- 12:11can be distressing for some people.
- 12:13If you are not hydrated properly, the phlebotomist will be poking around.
- 12:16We don't want to do that.
- 12:17Some medications cannot can interfere with hormones level in the blood.
- 12:22That's another, the seven days of serum.
- 12:24Hormone testing accuracy.
- 12:26It is very misleading.
- 12:27I hate results.
- 12:28in which hormone levels appear to normal.
- 12:31How often do you go to your doctor?
- 12:32You do a blood test and everything comes back normal.
- 12:35When in fact, There are imbalances taking place.
- 12:39It so happens.
- 12:40It's not showing up in the blood test.
- 12:42It does not show how much hormones the back, That is free for the body to use.
- 12:47So to me, Saram hormonal testing is not the one you need to look up.
- 12:52It's never the one you need to look at.
- 12:54Not accurate.
- 12:55So many these seven digits and you cannot extract the right ways also from that.
- 12:59Hopefully you can understand what I'm talking about.
- 13:02So if you go to your doctor and they are prescribing.
- 13:05To check your hormones and your prescribing blood tests, police, please, please, please.
- 13:10If that's what you choose to do for whatever reason.
- 13:13Please know that you will not get the right answers or result by doing serum.
- 13:18Now let's talk about the second type of hormone testing you should.
- 13:23no about, so do evaluate to see if it's the best fit for you.
- 13:26So the second one is you and tested metabolite.
- 13:29It is a collection of urine.
- 13:31of UN over a period of 24 hours where hormones are secreted at night and doing deep sleep.
- 13:38Such as growth hormones.
- 13:39It is also a flection of how the body metabolizes the hormones.
- 13:43So that's why we call it you and metabolite.
- 13:45So I use this in my practice.
- 13:48If I want to monitor conversion And also to see if the issues that my patients are facing with, uh, related to secretion or metabolism.
- 13:57So UN metabolite testing is a good fit.
- 14:00And I use this most often for patients.
- 14:03That have a lot of flare ups like endometriosis or, A lot of, infections or pelvic pains or stuff like that.
- 14:10I use metabolites because with the urine metabolites, you can extract certain things that you cannot extract with serum or saliva.
- 14:18So you and tests for metabolites of sex hormones, when hormones are working down in the body, by analyzing the metabolites, I'm able to assess hormone levels and the fluctuation in long period of time.
- 14:32With you, and you can also test for BPA, which is plastic, which is.
- 14:37Attack sense.
- 14:38Environmental toxins that create fake estrogen in our bodies and the queen disrupters making our bodies to believe that we are producing estrogen.
- 14:47And when in fact we not.
- 14:48And that's how most of us will go into estrogen dominance.
- 14:51You know, PCLs endometriosis fibroids.
- 14:55And with you and metabolites, you can also test your androgen homeless, like.
- 14:59the HGA, you can also test melatonin because if we go back and look at hormone imbalance symptoms, sometimes sleep difficulties is a thing.
- 15:08And we just put people on melatonin.
- 15:11When in fact it might not be melatonin, it could be something else.
- 15:14It could be lack of progesterone or low level of progesterone.
- 15:17With you and metabolize, you can also assess kidney functions.
- 15:20assess creatanine and also cortisol.
- 15:23It gives you a cortisol that's like in the morning, afternoon, evening, and also total cortisol and cortisone.
- 15:30So you can get a lot of information with you and metabolite.
- 15:33Some of this, you cannot test with saliva.
- 15:35As I mentioned, melatonin, you cannot test with saliva.
- 15:38and also, BPA, she can not test with saliva.
- 15:41When it comes to hormones.
- 15:42So 24 UN test hormones was ultimately different with inpatients, with kidneys and liver disease.
- 15:49So that's one of the disadvantages, dehydration or excess fluid can also interfere with the results of the UN.
- 15:56So you have to put that into.
- 15:57In the back of your mind.
- 15:58So, what are the advantages of UN metabolite testing for hormones?
- 16:02So we ha it's non-invasive You just provide you in 24 hours.
- 16:06shows longterm hormone production.
- 16:08Remember longterm hormone productions, measures, many hormones and metabolites in one test.
- 16:15Can be done at home and you just mail it to the lab, So this advantages of using new and metabolite.
- 16:21And one is not always covered by insurance.
- 16:23So we have to think about the cost.
- 16:25Uh, with diet exercise, medicine, medications, and other factors can change the hormone level.
- 16:31At metabolite, this questions, So data may be difficult to interpret.
- 16:35Not all laboratories offers it.
- 16:37and another disadvantages is that most practitioners are not educated in interpreting.
- 16:43The results, because again, you're going to get pages and pages of.
- 16:47Results.
- 16:48And you have to make sure you work with a practitioner that can actually help you.
- 16:52Identify what those results are now.
- 16:54Accuracy.
- 16:55Again, it's somewhat accurate when, if you're looking for longterm hormones, like, but it's not accurate when it comes to rapid hormone changes.
- 17:03Long-term.
- 17:03Symbol contamination or dilution may affect accuracy.
- 17:07So you have to make sure this, you have to follow certain steps.
- 17:10And also in private UN collection storage.
- 17:13Transportation can also affect you in, so there's some good and there's also some bad when it comes to you and tested.
- 17:20So now the last one we're going to talk about is saliva testing., which is my favorite.
- 17:24So the reason why I like saliva testing, which you will see it is.
- 17:28the first thing is it is the list performed, Because most often it is not covered by insurance.
- 17:34But it measures the amount of three active hormones.
- 17:39Remember that term bio I biologically.
- 17:43Active hormones, Unbound homeless, the homeless that are looking for except the size domes that you really truly need to look at to see.
- 17:50What the imbalances, so you can get the private shipment to balance those hormones.
- 17:54He determines the homeless levels that are ready to impact your bodies, the tissue in yourselves.
- 17:59Again, you can look at.
- 18:01The ones that are present.
- 18:02In abundance and also the X Xs, or also deficient.
- 18:06Hormones in the blood streams that are not bound to put in a filtered through your select salivary gland.
- 18:13And enter the saliva.
- 18:15Now the saliva hormone testing is not invasive and stress-free.
- 18:20Easy, very convenient.
- 18:22You just have to provide sputum in a stale tube, but it has to be done correctly because remember hormones are constantly fluctuating.
- 18:30You have to provide samples multiple times throughout the day to see the ups and downs of hormones, and also to establish an accurate baseline and measures changes in homeless.
- 18:41Throughout the day, which is something you do not do with, you know, Sarah, You don't go to the laboratory and provide multiple samples or otherwise that will be terrible.
- 18:50Anyways.
- 18:51He won't get the right results.
- 18:53So we'd say, we are missing the truth flection of what the hormones are doing.
- 18:57At the present time in our bodies, again, the free hormones.
- 19:01We can test that.
- 19:03Hormones with the saliva.
- 19:05We can test stress hormones.
- 19:07We can also test.
- 19:08Energen, Houma, dag, but with saliva, there are some restrictions you cannot test tie with hormones, or we need the blood.
- 19:16And you cannot test FSH for like less stimulating hormones or loot heightened hormones for those that are administrating.
- 19:23So that's why we have to put.
- 19:25You know, Incorporate some blood tests for the ones that we cannot test.
- 19:31So, but I found this method.
- 19:33The saliva.
- 19:34It will be very easy.
- 19:35It's in a pain-free it's convenient.
- 19:38and then the beautiful thing about saliva, you can see both the excellent Janice.
- 19:43Hormones or meaning.
- 19:44Homeland to getting from your treatment, your products, the patches, the IDs, your homeowner products, and also your endogenous hormones.
- 19:54I mean, it's a homeowner that you, you know, your body's actually producing.
- 19:57So you can see, you can get both Saliva as a better screen for also doping athletes back for those athletes that are doing.
- 20:04you know, to start sewing shots or doing good.
- 20:06With hormones now they started checking saliva for them to see because that's against The law, right.
- 20:11He's not supposed to.
- 20:12And Jack hormones for performance.
- 20:14So let's look at, the advantages and disadvantage of saliva.
- 20:18So saliva.
- 20:19We can test cortisol hormones, estrogen, progesterone, and discuss on the HTA.
- 20:23You can also test melatonin as well with saliva.
- 20:26I vintages.
- 20:27It is a direct measure of active hormones.
- 20:30Saliva testing is not invasive, Compared to blood tests is not inconvenient.
- 20:35You just ship the kit to your house and then you just do it at the convenience of your house.
- 20:39It doesn't require needles or visit to the health care facility.
- 20:43You do it at home?
- 20:44Saliva testing is cheaper.
- 20:45It is cheaper.
- 20:47because remember when it comes to hormone imbalance, you have to do multiple tests, In my homeowner and sex survival program, we test at the beginning of the program.
- 20:55We also test at the end of the program.
- 20:57And sometimes we have to test in the middle to see where we are in terms of those in.
- 21:01We cannot guess when it comes to hormone.
- 21:04Testing, you cannot guess adult.
- 21:06Saliva testing is cheaper.
- 21:07So that's why I mentioned it is cheaper, It is an also promote personalized approach to medicine.
- 21:13So I can.
- 21:14Literally look at the levels and then personalize the treatment.
- 21:19I love that.
- 21:20Don't you love that they get personalized treatments.
- 21:22Disadvantages saliva testing is not widely accepted.
- 21:26because again, traditional medicine doesn't cover for it.
- 21:29Some patients don't want to.
- 21:30forge that money.
- 21:31which is a big disadvantage.
- 21:33and sometimes, you know, there's some preparation you have to do as well.
- 21:37You have to, if you are.
- 21:38Main street in females.
- 21:39You have to look at, you know, when you have a new menstrual cycle.
- 21:42So we go over all that with our patients.
- 21:44Accuracy.
- 21:44Every small changes in hormone levels can be detected using this method.
- 21:49Saliva testing is particularly effective for homeowners present in low concentration.
- 21:53Also the ones that are posted in high concentration, that is why it is my method of choice.
- 21:58I love this lab testing.
- 21:59So in our hormones and sex survival program, I often have.
- 22:04Multiple.
- 22:05Services or protocols in my practice.
- 22:08And I don't always include testing.
- 22:11However for our hormone in sex survival program.
- 22:15Testing is included.
- 22:17I include a test, a kit that has both the saliva.
- 22:21And also dry blood again.
- 22:23Because I want to test your home or your table at home owns.
- 22:27As well as your sex hormone, androgen hormones and your, and your stress hormones.
- 22:32So in our sex survival program, you also get a kit included just for this reason, because my goal is to help you feel better, quicker, and faster.
- 22:41And my goal is not to guess, and it's not to overdose you.
- 22:45So that is why.
- 22:46Instead of patients telling us, so I cannot afford this.
- 22:49It's too much money for the testing.
- 22:51I literally included.
- 22:53Into the program.
- 22:54To kind of break this barrier.
- 22:57To close that gap.
- 22:58Because when one or more hormones levels are off too high or too low, it can throw your whole body.
- 23:05It can put your whole body out of rack.
- 23:07And some hormones, they longer in your body.
- 23:10Some homeless.
- 23:10you know, have shorter life span in your body.
- 23:13Like for estrogen, estrogen can stay in your body for 90 days.
- 23:17So if I, you have enough estrogen in that don't test your hormones and I'm prescribing more hormones.
- 23:23Guess what?
- 23:24Estrogen hormones.
- 23:25You will be.
- 23:26I will overdose you and your body will be out of rock.
- 23:29You have lower progesterone, less of the hormones because estrogen is becoming dominant in your body.
- 23:35So measuring your hormone levels will help you.
- 23:38When you understand in your symptoms.
- 23:40but also the changes that you need to make in your health.
- 23:43in those markers and it's specific, like you get to see what's happening and how to, you know, move forward.
- 23:51What are your suffering with heavy bleeding?
- 23:53Menstrual cycles, you know, PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, or full-blown menopause or experiencing symptoms.
- 24:00I could test and it's the best way.
- 24:02And you'll have your half.
- 24:04You have to choose the right testing.
- 24:06Cause member.
- 24:07Now artists.
- 24:08Not created equal.
- 24:09So if you, testing with the Wong.
- 24:12Method and you're using the wrong.
- 24:14treatment or supplementing with the one products, homeless would not be accurate, Leading to an appropriate dose.
- 24:20And again, as I mentioned, there's like a huge overdose situation.
- 24:24We're trying to prevent here.
- 24:25So.
- 24:25Again, we have three methods serum.
- 24:28which is widely available, covered by insurance.
- 24:32Not giving you accurate results, UN which provides like pages of information.
- 24:37You have to have a practitioner that can help you, interpret those urine tests.
- 24:42And choose the markers and go by that to see how your body's metabolizing the you and the metabolites to prescribe the correct treatment.
- 24:49And also you have saliva, which I think is the best one, It's easier for the patients to understand.
- 24:55It's also easier for your practitioner and it provides the right amount of information when it comes to hormone imbalance first, you got a test.
- 25:03Second, you got to start low and you go slow.
- 25:05And then third is to focus and not overdosing.
- 25:09On any of this hormones?
- 25:11As I mentioned before, balancing your hormones is an art.
- 25:15You got to have the right tools so that we sources.
- 25:17You cannot guess, and you have to have the right testing.
- 25:20So, this is what I have for you.
- 25:22All three hormone testing panels, The serum.
- 25:27UN and saliva.
- 25:29As I mentioned in my home.
- 25:31When is sex survival program?
- 25:32I give my patients a kit that has the saliva and also a little bit of dry blood.
- 25:37You just, you know, like put some blood at home is done at home.
- 25:40very convenient.
- 25:41There's no needles.
- 25:42Stick into your arm, just a little pinch.

- 27:39And then.
- 27:40Hopefully you can understand.
- 27:41My job is for me to show you how many of these symptoms.
- 27:46Can be very vague.
- 27:47Can be very general.
- 27:48So it is not to say, if you have, you know, half flashes, this and this and that is strictly estrogen.
- 27:54It could be also estrogen dominance, Like I have a patient right now who has endometriosis.
- 27:58She does have hot flashes.
- 27:59She just have, does have night sweats.
- 28:01When I did her test in hormonal testing, she had a lot of estrogen.
- 28:07So if I didn't test the hormones, I would have just guessed and just give her estrogen products because according to the book, according to whatever.
- 28:14when you have these symptoms, it is in a low estrogen.
- 28:17No, you have to test.
- 28:18You have to test.
