- 0:00Speaker 1: Woo!
- 0:01Speaker 2: Stu Gatz.
- 0:01Speaker 3: Woo!
- 0:02Speaker 4: I got to be honest with you, Bruce, there's a
- 0:03Speaker 4: good chance I'd be high anyway.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Woo!
- 0:05Speaker 5: And I'm wondering how the football weekend was. Were you
- 0:07Speaker 5: able to watch it? Wow, what happened? Oh, I'm tired
- 0:12Speaker 5: of him.
- 0:12Speaker 3: I'm serious.
- 0:13Speaker 5: How about that?
- 0:14Speaker 6: In company. We are mother shuckers, baby.
- 0:17Speaker 5: Woo!
- 0:17Speaker 1: Bruce, does Faison Brandon's name sound like it's on backwards?
- 0:20Speaker 5: No doubt.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's time to get your.
- 0:23Speaker 1: It's time to get your financials. To get the all boat.
- 0:27Speaker 5: You got nothing right there. This is not going well.
- 0:31Speaker 2: This is Stu Gotts and Company.
- 0:34Speaker 7: Stu, back to you.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Mikey A, we have to give him credit.
- 0:38Speaker 5: We just have to give him credit. We all laughed
- 0:40Speaker 5: at him.
- 0:40Speaker 4: We all mocked him with the exception of CeCe Sabathia
- 0:45Speaker 4: when Taylor said he would not trade Cam Schlittler for
- 0:48Speaker 4: Paul Skeens earlier in the season.
- 0:51Speaker 5: I think right when the season started, We mocked him.
- 0:54Speaker 5: We laughed at him.
- 0:55Speaker 4: We brought on guests who also laughed at him again,
- 0:58Speaker 4: with the exception of CC Sabathia, but Mikey, a Taylor
- 1:02Speaker 4: was right.
- 1:05Speaker 6: It bothers me how right he was.
- 1:08Speaker 5: I love it.
- 1:09Speaker 6: I don't even, I don't even want to like, I'm
- 1:12Speaker 6: not even going to just overreact to yesterday's absolute gem.
- 1:16Speaker 6: That guy spun.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:17Speaker 6: But like, He has looked so good all season, and
- 1:21Speaker 6: I kept waiting for the, ah, Cam Schlittler's going to
- 1:24Speaker 6: come back down to Earth. Cam Schlittler's going to come
- 1:26Speaker 6: back down to Earth. And that guy doesn't even live
- 1:29Speaker 6: on this planet anymore. He lives elsewhere on a plane
- 1:33Speaker 6: that I can't even fathom.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Yep. Taylor, how do you feel today? You have to
- 1:37Speaker 5: feel pretty good, right?
- 1:39Speaker 3: Vindicated?
- 1:40Speaker 1: I do feel vindicated in a sense. You're saying that
- 1:43Speaker 1: CeCe Sabathie agreed with me, and while he did agree
- 1:45Speaker 1: with me, CeCe agreed with me when, like, Cam Schlittler
- 1:48Speaker 1: was announced as the starting pitcher for the American League. Like, okay, CeCe,
- 1:53Speaker 1: you really went out on a limb there and said
- 1:54Speaker 1: you wouldn't trade him when he was the clear AL
- 1:58Speaker 1: Cy Young winner. Michael Kay laughed at me, and then
- 2:01Speaker 1: Virk laughed at me.
- 2:02Speaker 5: Yes, but who's having the last laugh? You are. I
- 2:06Speaker 5: will say this.
- 2:07Speaker 6: I would argue Schlittler is.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Well, he is.
- 2:08Speaker 7: Ten strikeouts.
- 2:12Speaker 5: Ridiculous.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Cam Schlittler, the first Yankee ever with multiple postseason outings
- 2:16Speaker 1: of 10-plus strikeouts and zero runs allowed, and both came
- 2:20Speaker 1: against the Boston Red Sox. 14 in the third scoreless
- 2:24Speaker 1: postseason innings, 22 strikeouts against Boston in the span of
- 2:27Speaker 1: a year. Game one was great. Game one was about
- 2:31Speaker 1: as complete a game as the New York Yankees could
- 2:34Speaker 1: play from Cam Schlittler's performance to the offense. You got
- 2:37Speaker 1: Ben Rice performing. Game two is a must-win.
- 2:41Speaker 3: It is?
- 2:42Speaker 6: Game two.
- 2:44Speaker 2: How?
- 2:45Speaker 5: Game two. I mean, if you lose, you still have
- 2:47Speaker 5: another game.
- 2:49Speaker 6: I would argue it's a must win for the Red Sox.
- 2:52Speaker 5: Yes.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Put it on the poll, Taylor. Is game two a
- 2:55Speaker 4: must win for the Yankees? So game two is a
- 2:59Speaker 4: must win. Obviously, Boston is facing elimination tonight, but you
- 3:04Speaker 4: have to treat this as a must-win game for the Yankees.
- 3:06Speaker 4: You've got to put them away. You can't give Boston
- 3:09Speaker 4: any life. You can't play a third game. You really
- 3:11Speaker 4: don't want to force Garrett Cole to have to pitch
- 3:14Speaker 4: game three, and then you're lining yourself up better for
- 3:17Speaker 4: the ALDS against the Tampa Bay Rays, where you get
- 3:20Speaker 4: Garrett Cole pitching twice in that series. You get Cam
- 3:23Speaker 4: Schlitter pitching twice in that series, and then you get
- 3:25Speaker 4: Max Freed pitching twice in that series. That's why it's
- 3:28Speaker 4: a must win because the Yankees have to close out
- 3:30Speaker 4: Boston tonight and put themselves in the best position to
- 3:33Speaker 4: beat a Tampa Bay Rays team.
- 3:34Speaker 5: I like it.
- 3:36Speaker 6: The DS is five games, so I don't think three
- 3:38Speaker 6: pitchers are going to pitch twice.
- 3:39Speaker 5: I think two pitchers.
- 3:40Speaker 6: Would pitch twice. But I would also argue this. What
- 3:44Speaker 6: is the point of having a Garrett Cole pitching game
- 3:47Speaker 6: three if you're worried that we don't want him to pitch?
- 3:51Speaker 6: I get what you're saying about we want the pitching
- 3:53Speaker 6: to line up better. for the DS. I understand that.
- 3:57Speaker 6: I agree with you there. But if you're worried that
- 4:01Speaker 6: Garrett Cole is going to have to pitch game three.
- 4:03Speaker 6: Like that's supposed to be an a one starter. You
- 4:06Speaker 6: shouldn't be worried about the fact that he has to
- 4:09Speaker 6: come in and pitch a game.
- 4:10Speaker 5: So it's less about that. I'm worried.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I just don't want to get to a one game
- 4:13Speaker 1: sample size against this Red Sox team where both teams
- 4:16Speaker 1: are facing elimination.
- 4:18Speaker 5: Yes. That's what he's trying to say.
- 4:19Speaker 3: This is a game.
- 4:20Speaker 4: You don't, you don't give the Red Sox hope tonight.
- 4:22Speaker 4: That's why he's declaring it a must win.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And I trust, I trust Garrett Cole in a game
- 4:27Speaker 1: three situation because, Mikey, it's more I don't want Carlos
- 4:30Speaker 1: Rodon in a situation where Carlos Rodon has to pitch
- 4:33Speaker 1: twice in the ALDS. Can I ask you guys something?
- 4:36Speaker 1: Because this shocked me when I came in today.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Sure.
- 4:39Speaker 1: What do you guys know about Bordeaux Ricardo? Like, what
- 4:42Speaker 1: words would you say are synonymous with him?
- 4:44Speaker 5: Baseball.
- 4:45Speaker 6: Baseball.
- 4:45Speaker 5: Yep. Vaping. Baseball? Go further with baseball. Okay. Marlins. Thank you.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Yep. Ricardo every day is draped in Marlins paraphernalia.
- 4:57Speaker 5: Today I come in. Oh, look at him, the Yankee fan. What?
- 5:02Speaker 1: Bordaum Ricardo all of a sudden becomes Ricky Mantle.
- 5:09Speaker 6: For those of you who can't see, Bordaum Ricardo is
- 5:12Speaker 6: in a Yankee hat and looks like a throwback jersey.
- 5:15Speaker 5: Yes.
- 5:16Speaker 6: That is.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Amazing, stunning. I never thought he would bail on his Marlins.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Look how pleased Taylor is with his joke. Did you
- 5:25Speaker 4: say Ricky Mantle?
- 5:26Speaker 5: Ricky Mantle, yeah. It's an awesome, awesome joke.
- 5:30Speaker 4: I'm trying to think of other plays on Ricardo's name.
- 5:34Speaker 5: Joe Ricardo. No, it doesn't work. You nailed it with
- 5:38Speaker 5: Ricky Mantle. Ricky Bantle. It's pretty good.
- 5:45Speaker 6: It's good of Ricardo to be a fan of the
- 5:47Speaker 6: big league club that he normally supports their AAA affiliate,
- 5:51Speaker 6: the Miami Marlins.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Well, let's ask Ricardo real quickly. Is this the team
- 5:55Speaker 4: you root for when the Marlins are out of it?
- 5:57Speaker 4: Is the Yankees the team you root for?
- 5:58Speaker 8: Well, I've always been a Yankee admirer because they're an
- 6:02Speaker 8: organization that they always want to win and they spend
- 6:04Speaker 8: the money to win.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Well, mostly.
- 6:07Speaker 8: The last couple of years hasn't been like that. But
- 6:09Speaker 8: I do admire them. So, yeah, I mean, I root
- 6:11Speaker 8: for the Yankees. I want them to do well. I
- 6:13Speaker 8: like the blue chip teams to do well. And beating
- 6:15Speaker 8: the Red Sox is always a good day.
- 6:17Speaker 2: All right.
- 6:18Speaker 5: I'm disappointed in you. I really am. I mean, I
- 6:23Speaker 5: just thought he was a Marlins fan through and through.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I was shocked when I walked in. My jaw dropped
- 6:27Speaker 1: to the floor. Can I tell you when I knew
- 6:29Speaker 1: the Yankees won that game yesterday?
- 6:31Speaker 2: When?
- 6:32Speaker 5: When Cam took the mound?
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 6:35Speaker 5: Part time.
- 6:36Speaker 1: So I was a little worried that second at bat,
- 6:38Speaker 1: Adley Rushman works them for like 12, 13 pitches, and
- 6:41Speaker 1: Benetti on the NBC broadcast is like, the Red Sox
- 6:44Speaker 1: have a plan. It's going to be foul off a
- 6:45Speaker 1: lot of pitches, get to this Yankee bullpen. So I
- 6:48Speaker 1: started to get a little worried there. The game starts,
- 6:51Speaker 1: and it's like 68, 70 degrees at first pitch, beautiful
- 6:54Speaker 1: night for postseason baseball. I'm looking around, Mikey, and I'm saying,
- 6:59Speaker 1: there's no turtlenecks. No players on the Yankees are wearing turtlenecks.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Turtlenecks are synonymous– with October baseball in the Bronx, that's
- 7:08Speaker 1: when I see the shortstop, George Lombard Jr. He's wearing
- 7:12Speaker 1: a turtleneck. I turn to Ian, who I'm watching the
- 7:14Speaker 1: game with, and I go, Kid just gets it. You
- 7:19Speaker 1: want him wearing turtlenecks even if it's too hot out.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Yes.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Just because it's synonymous with Yankee postseason baseball.
- 7:25Speaker 1: If we are playing in the postseason, I don't care
- 7:28Speaker 1: if it's 90 degrees and we're in the Texas heat.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Everybody's in turtlenecks.
- 7:33Speaker 5: That's a weird take.
- 7:35Speaker 6: But I get it. I understand. He did look at
- 7:39Speaker 6: home in the turtleneck. And I'll tell you, I'll go
- 7:41Speaker 6: one better. When George Lombard hit a ground ball between
- 7:45Speaker 6: short and third that went under the third baseman's glove
- 7:49Speaker 6: and the shortstop was too deep to play it, I
- 7:51Speaker 6: turned to my bowling crew and I said, true Yankee.
- 7:56Speaker 5: By the way, that's an October hit.
- 7:58Speaker 8: Yes.
- 7:59Speaker 5: By the way, Kenneth.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Gainwell is going to join us to talk some football here,
- 8:04Speaker 4: running back for the Buccaneers in about 10 minutes. I
- 8:06Speaker 4: don't like what you did to CC Sabathia. I know
- 8:09Speaker 4: you have something to say here, Taylor. But I don't
- 8:11Speaker 4: like what you did to CeCe. Yes, he picked a
- 8:14Speaker 4: convenient time to agree with you on that trade. But
- 8:17Speaker 4: he was the only one who agreed with you that
- 8:20Speaker 4: he would not trade Cam Schlittler for Paul Skeen straight up.
- 8:23Speaker 5: He did agree, Taylor.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I just wish we had CeCe Sabathia on earlier
- 8:27Speaker 1: in the season so then he could have agreed with
- 8:29Speaker 1: me then and not when they were already handing Cam
- 8:32Speaker 1: Schlittler the AL Cy Young award. I think yesterday, Mikey,
- 8:35Speaker 1: so I don't want to get too high off game one.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Right.
- 8:38Speaker 1: But when you're watching a Yankee team without Aaron Judge,
- 8:41Speaker 1: Aaron Judge 34, and as much as I'd like for
- 8:44Speaker 1: him to get a ring as an all-time Yankee grade
- 8:46Speaker 1: three MVPs, yesterday felt like the next generation of Yankees
- 8:50Speaker 1: being like, hey, we're here. Because you have Cam Schlittler
- 8:53Speaker 1: on the mound, you have Ben Rice four for five,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and you have George Lombard. I'm encouraged by what I'm
- 9:00Speaker 1: seeing with the Yankees, where I know early in the
- 9:01Speaker 1: season I said this was my least favorite Yankee team
- 9:03Speaker 1: of all time. And luckily, we've replaced some of these
- 9:07Speaker 1: Jazz Chisholm and Trent Grisham at-bats with George Lombard. Anthony
- 9:11Speaker 1: Volpe's making a redemption. I'm starting to get behind this
- 9:14Speaker 1: Yankee team.
- 9:15Speaker 5: He's starting to think they don't need Judge. They might
- 9:17Speaker 5: be better without him. Wow. They're up 1-0. And tonight
- 9:23Speaker 5: is a must win, but we're better without Judge already.
- 9:26Speaker 5: I mean, he's right. Who am I to question him?
- 9:28Speaker 6: 500 teams since August.
- 9:30Speaker 5: I'm not questioning him anymore, though. I mean.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Stu, I don't know if you saw this. Well, I
- 9:34Speaker 1: know for a fact you didn't see this. So the
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yankees get introduced before the game.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Yes.
- 9:39Speaker 1: They're doing the starting lineups, and then there's a few
- 9:42Speaker 1: players who are inactive that still get announced at Yankee Stadium.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Like Ryan Weathers was one of the players that got
- 9:48Speaker 1: left off. wild card roster because he's still coming back
- 9:53Speaker 1: from an injury. They announce him at Yankee Stadium and
- 9:57Speaker 1: he's able to tip his cap to the crowd.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 1: No Aaron Judge announcement, even though Aaron Judge is in
- 10:04Speaker 1: the dugout. And people are thinking that Aaron Judge might
- 10:06Speaker 1: have sour grapes with the Yankees and saying, if I'm
- 10:09Speaker 1: not on the roster, don't even announce me to the crowd.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Wow. What do you think, Mikey? Sour grapes from Aaron Judge?
- 10:17Speaker 6: I mean, it's certainly– Looking that way, I wonder if
- 10:21Speaker 6: it was more of a don't want to take anything
- 10:25Speaker 6: away from the guys that are playing. Who are on
- 10:27Speaker 6: the roster. That's glass half full.
- 10:30Speaker 5: Yes.
- 10:30Speaker 6: But, yeah, I mean, it doesn't– it's not a good
- 10:33Speaker 6: look either way, regardless of intention.
- 10:35Speaker 5: It's not.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Aaron Judge– Them winning a World Series, winning a ring
- 10:40Speaker 4: without Aaron Judge, he still gets a ring, guys.
- 10:43Speaker 5: He's the reason they're in the playoffs, right?
- 10:45Speaker 4: Like, if they don't have Aaron Judge to start the season,
- 10:48Speaker 4: they're not playing against the Red Sox right now in
- 10:50Speaker 4: the wildcard round.
- 10:51Speaker 1: No, Aaron Judge, for the most part, is the only
- 10:54Speaker 1: reason why this offense had any life at the beginning
- 10:58Speaker 1: of the season.
- 10:59Speaker 5: And it's why I normally.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Defend Aaron Judge until the end of time, because I
- 11:03Speaker 1: think if you take Aaron Judge off this team, it's
- 11:05Speaker 1: not a very good baseball team, and he covers a
- 11:07Speaker 1: lot of flaws. And it does sound like he is
- 11:10Speaker 1: trending towards, if the Yankees make it to the ALDS,
- 11:14Speaker 1: that he would be on that roster perhaps, or if
- 11:16Speaker 1: they make it even further to the ALCS. It sounded
- 11:20Speaker 1: like it was a pretty close decision leaving him off
- 11:23Speaker 1: the wildcard roster, and it was more so the Yankees
- 11:25Speaker 1: just protecting Aaron Judge from himself. Because if you ask Judge...
- 11:29Speaker 1: If he's healthy enough to play, he's going to go
- 11:31Speaker 1: out there and play.
- 11:32Speaker 4: So all the guys who weren't on the roster were announced,
- 11:35Speaker 4: had a chance to tip their caps. Aaron Judge was
- 11:37Speaker 4: the only one who decided, I guess, that's his decision. Hey,
- 11:40Speaker 4: don't announce me. I'm not tipping my cap. Is that
- 11:43Speaker 4: essentially what you're saying here?
- 11:44Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what it seems like. Sour grapes.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Why wouldn't you tip your cap to Yankee fans before
- 11:50Speaker 4: the wild card round against the Red Sox?
- 11:53Speaker 5: Sour grapes, right?
- 11:55Speaker 6: I don't think it has anything to do with Yankee
- 11:57Speaker 6: fans as much as Yankee brass. Right.
- 11:59Speaker 5: Okay.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Do you guys love that Cam Schlittler and who's the guy,
- 12:04Speaker 4: Ben Rice?
- 12:04Speaker 5: Was it Ben Rice?
- 12:05Speaker 4: Do you love that they're both from Massachusetts? Both of
- 12:08Speaker 4: them grew up Red Sox fans. Do you love that?
- 12:10Speaker 4: It has to feel better, right?
- 12:11Speaker 2: I mean.
- 12:13Speaker 1: It feels better in the sense that we're doing it
- 12:15Speaker 1: against their own. I was trying to think if I'm
- 12:19Speaker 1: a Yankee fan and Boston's best players were were guys
- 12:22Speaker 1: that grew up as a as yankee fans yes that
- 12:25Speaker 1: would drive me crazy right but it every time these
- 12:28Speaker 1: two teams play it's the only story and i get
- 12:31Speaker 1: when the game's on nbc like this is going to
- 12:33Speaker 1: be a national we don't get to.
- 12:34Speaker 4: Do this often yes yes right it's a good storyline
- 12:38Speaker 4: though it is i mean i don't blame benetti for
- 12:40Speaker 4: going with it it's it's a.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Great storyline but but it is one i think if
- 12:44Speaker 1: you're a yankee fan it's like okay we get it
- 12:45Speaker 1: ben rice grew up in massachusetts He grew up a
- 12:48Speaker 1: Yankee fan, though. Cam Schlittler grew up in Boston. He
- 12:51Speaker 1: grew up a Red Sox fan. But now his family
- 12:54Speaker 1: is Yankee fans.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Yes. Convenient.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Mikey does have a question for Taylor based off of
- 13:01Speaker 4: last night's Game 1 win. Yankees over the Red Sox.
- 13:05Speaker 4: It's a one-table question. Ricardo, Ricky Mantle, give me the imaging.
- 13:14Speaker 2: There's one table left at the hottest spot in town,
- 13:17Speaker 2: and everybody wants it. Who's getting it, and who's getting
- 13:23Speaker 2: left outside? Greatness gets seated. Everyone else waits. This is
- 13:30Speaker 2: One Table.
- 13:32Speaker 4: I am racking my brain, Mikey, trying to come up
- 13:34Speaker 4: with something better than Ricky Mantle, and I can't.
- 13:37Speaker 6: You're not going to.
- 13:38Speaker 5: All I had was Joe Riccardi.
- 13:42Speaker 2: No.
- 13:42Speaker 5: It's not as good. DiMaggio, is there something there?
- 13:49Speaker 3: No.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Okay. All right. Anyway, ask your question. We're at the restaurant.
- 13:53Speaker 5: All right, Taylor.
- 13:54Speaker 6: We're at Enzo's up at Arthur Avenue for lunch today.
- 13:58Speaker 5: That's a good spot.
- 14:01Speaker 6: Ben Rice walks in. Hey, I see you got one
- 14:04Speaker 6: seat left. Can I have it?
- 14:05Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 14:06Speaker 6: Cam Schlittler walks in.
- 14:07Speaker 5: Same time.
- 14:08Speaker 6: Says, hey, I see you have one seat open. Can
- 14:12Speaker 6: I have it?
- 14:13Speaker 5: Wow. Who gets the table today? Just today.
- 14:19Speaker 1: I think it's got to be Cam Schlittler because Cam
- 14:22Speaker 1: Schlittler at this point, he owns the Red Sox.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Okay.
- 14:27Speaker 5: So, Mr.
- 14:28Speaker 6: Schlittler, yeah, sorry, Mr. Rice, you're going to have to wait.
- 14:30Speaker 5: Oh, wait, wait. Who just walked in?
- 14:32Speaker 6: Aaron Judge just walked in.
- 14:34Speaker 9: Hey.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Hey.
- 14:35Speaker 6: I see that seat is still empty. Can I have it?
- 14:39Speaker 1: So Aaron Judge is the Yankee captain. I still don't
- 14:42Speaker 1: think this is a question. Cam Schlittler's ERA in six
- 14:45Speaker 1: career starts against the Red Sox is.
- 14:48Speaker 3: 47. Yes.
- 14:49Speaker 1: It's the best pitcher against any team in MLB history.
- 14:52Speaker 8: Yes.
- 14:52Speaker 5: Might get him a table for life in any restaurant
- 14:54Speaker 5: in New York City, Mikey.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Especially the day after a Cam Schlittler start like that.
- 15:00Speaker 5: Yes. New York Schlittler.
- 15:03Speaker 6: Sorry, Ben Rice and Aaron Judge. Go down to Full
- 15:06Speaker 6: Moon Pizza.
- 15:07Speaker 5: I'm not certain at Full Moon Pizza.
- 15:09Speaker 4: I'm not certain there's a Yankee where if they walk in,
- 15:11Speaker 4: they get that seat over Cam Schlittler today. I'm talking
- 15:14Speaker 4: all time. I'm talking if Ricky Mantle came back from
- 15:17Speaker 4: the dead today. I'm not certain that he gets that
- 15:20Speaker 4: seat over Cam Schlittler.
- 15:22Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Mikey, I'll one-up you here. I think if Aaron Judge
- 15:26Speaker 1: walks in today... And Austin Wells walks in today.
- 15:30Speaker 5: Wells? I think Wells, he gets to the table.
- 15:33Speaker 1: The 7-8-9 batters for the Yankees yesterday, batting 4-44.
- 15:37Speaker 5: He's so happy.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Austin Wells is challenging the first inning, Mikey. Change the game.
- 15:43Speaker 6: No, no.
- 15:44Speaker 5: He's gone too far? Yes.
- 15:47Speaker 6: Austin Wells, great game. Austin Wells is still a 184
- 15:50Speaker 6: hitting catcher, and Aaron Judge is still Aaron Judge. I know,
- 15:54Speaker 6: but this is a— I'll give you Cam Schlittler today.
- 15:57Speaker 5: It's an in-the-moment reservation, though.
- 15:59Speaker 4: I mean, this is coming off the heels of winning
- 16:01Speaker 4: game one against the Red Sox, and Aaron Judge didn't play.
- 16:05Speaker 5: I mean, didn't even tip his cap.
- 16:09Speaker 6: That's a bad restaurant if they're going to tell Aaron
- 16:11Speaker 6: Judge to wait for Austin Wells.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Mikey, can I tell you who you could put him
- 16:16Speaker 1: up against anybody, and I'll make sure he'll never get
- 16:18Speaker 1: a table in New York? He's pitching game two tonight
- 16:21Speaker 1: for the Red Sox, Sonny Gray.
- 16:24Speaker 5: Sonny Gray.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Oh, never.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Sonny Gray, absolute dead to me as a former Yankee.
- 16:30Speaker 1: His career as a Yankee, he has a 6-5-5 ERA
- 16:34Speaker 1: at Yankee Stadium.
- 16:35Speaker 5: He signs with the Red Sox. I blame them. Yeah,
- 16:38Speaker 5: he signs with the Red.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Sox, and when he's talking about his time with New York,
- 16:42Speaker 1: he's like, I never wanted to go there in the
- 16:44Speaker 1: first place. Like, we held a gun to pitch in
- 16:47Speaker 1: the Bronx, and He said joining Boston meant going somewhere
- 16:49Speaker 1: where it was easy to hate the Yankees.
- 16:51Speaker 5: It's like, Sonny Gray, grow up. Enjoy that reception tonight.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I hope we crush Sonny Gray tonight.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Is that why Bear in our group college football text
- 16:59Speaker 4: is saying, hey, Sonny Gray, my Uber account is yours
- 17:03Speaker 4: for the using tonight.
- 17:05Speaker 6: I just need you to get to that stadium on time.
- 17:07Speaker 5: He's taking the Yankees, right? And he loves the Yankees, yes.
- 17:12Speaker 5: How do you feel about Bear in a group text, Mikey?
- 17:14Speaker 5: Be honest.
- 17:16Speaker 6: I love the bear.
- 17:17Speaker 5: That's what I'll say.
- 17:18Speaker 6: So do I.
- 17:20Speaker 5: I'll say it. It's a lot. And I love the bear, too.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Thankfully, Taylor told me before we get to Kenneth Gainwell,
- 17:27Speaker 4: told me and Mikey with a short fact of the
- 17:29Speaker 4: day yesterday.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Was it the short fact of the day? That hockey started.
- 17:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:34Speaker 5: Did you guys see that Panther game? Yeah. There's Ricardo.
- 17:38Speaker 5: There's Ricky Mantle. There is Ricky Mantle.
- 17:45Speaker 4: The Carolina Hurricanes' rings are absolutely ridiculous. But the game
- 17:50Speaker 4: last night with.
- 17:51Speaker 5: Forsling scoring with 4.8 seconds to go in overtime. Taylor,
- 17:54Speaker 5: thank you. It's a thank you from me to you
- 17:57Speaker 5: for reminding me that hockey did indeed start last night.
- 18:00Speaker 5: Thank you.

- 19:57Speaker 4: Kenneth Gainwell is a Super Bowl champion, and he is
- 20:00Speaker 4: a member of the Bucs. He's with us on behalf
- 20:03Speaker 4: of Oral-B and Crest. What are you doing with Oral-B
- 20:05Speaker 4: and Crest, Kenneth Gainwell?
- 20:07Speaker 3: Oh, man, I partnered with Oral-B and Crest.
- 20:11Speaker 9: Truly alpha just because I want to take care of
- 20:13Speaker 9: my smile and see see people I want to see
- 20:17Speaker 9: people man take care of their oral you know and
- 20:19Speaker 9: a lot of people don't understand that it truly you
- 20:22Speaker 9: know affects other parts of your body you know taking
- 20:25Speaker 9: care of your oral will help you and That's the
- 20:29Speaker 9: reason why, man. You know, and I love my smile
- 20:31Speaker 9: and I love to see everybody else smiling.
- 20:33Speaker 5: You do have a great smile. We're all sitting here.
- 20:35Speaker 5: We're nodding. How many times do you brush a day?
- 20:41Speaker 3: I brush about twice a day. Yeah.
- 20:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:46Speaker 9: Me flossing is probably the most important too, but I
- 20:49Speaker 9: have to brush at least twice a day.
- 20:51Speaker 5: Where are you doing this from now?
- 20:52Speaker 4: It looks like, uh, you're in some sort of very
- 20:55Speaker 4: dark study somewhere where, I don't know, maybe you get
- 20:57Speaker 4: some alone time, read a book.
- 20:59Speaker 5: What are you doing? Where is this?
- 21:01Speaker 3: Oh man, this is in my, uh, work room.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Nice.
- 21:05Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Nice. Yeah. Right.
- 21:07Speaker 5: Where's the, where's the Superbowl ring?
- 21:10Speaker 9: Oh, it's, it's, it's locked away right now. Um, you know, uh,
- 21:14Speaker 9: I'm working on trying to get another one. It's not
- 21:19Speaker 9: going too well right now, but hopefully we pick it
- 21:21Speaker 9: up and, you know, get that thing going, man.
- 21:23Speaker 5: We're trying.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Uh, what do you think the problem is? Obviously Baker
- 21:26Speaker 4: is hurt. Uh, you're off to an 0-3 start, but
- 21:28Speaker 4: in that division, it's still a winnable division, even at 0-3.
- 21:32Speaker 4: And I'm certain you guys know that, but what has
- 21:34Speaker 4: been the problem, uh, early on for this team, uh,
- 21:37Speaker 4: in the early part of the.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Season here, Kenneth?
- 21:40Speaker 9: Um, I think we're not finishing as, as fast as
- 21:42Speaker 9: we need to. Um, Getting too many third and longs
- 21:46Speaker 9: is really hurting us. But I think we need to
- 21:49Speaker 9: finish a little bit more and not finish it in game,
- 21:52Speaker 9: losing by three points, losing by seven, losing by two points,
- 21:57Speaker 9: however you take it. But I think it's just off
- 22:01Speaker 9: of us finishing the games and, like, hold on to
- 22:04Speaker 9: the small details and doing what we.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Need to be doing.
- 22:07Speaker 5: How's Baker?
- 22:09Speaker 3: Baker's doing good, man.
- 22:11Speaker 9: I seen him yesterday when we went in to meetings.
- 22:14Speaker 9: And I mean, you know, I truly hate to see
- 22:17Speaker 9: anyone get hurt, but he's doing good.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Hopefully come back stronger than ever.
- 22:22Speaker 9: Mine is strong, you know, and he's doing real good.
- 22:27Speaker 4: How does this work when you leave a team like
- 22:29Speaker 4: the Philadelphia Eagles, a team where you won a Super
- 22:31Speaker 4: Bowl and you go over to Tampa Bay and you're
- 22:33Speaker 4: off to an 0-3 start so you have your own problems.
- 22:35Speaker 5: But do you watch last night's game?
- 22:37Speaker 4: Are you rooting for those guys or are you rooting
- 22:39Speaker 4: against those guys once you leave those guys?
- 22:42Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I was going for Chicago last night.
- 22:48Speaker 9: But I mean, if it was Pittsburgh, I would have
- 22:52Speaker 9: been rooting for Pittsburgh. But on that side, man, it's
- 22:57Speaker 9: hard to leave a team in root form. But you
- 23:00Speaker 9: root for the guys that's in that locker room. You're
- 23:03Speaker 9: not truly rooting for a team. You truly root for
- 23:06Speaker 9: guys that you really created a bond with and guys
- 23:09Speaker 9: that you really created a long life relationships. Got invited
- 23:13Speaker 9: to a lot of people's weddings from out of that
- 23:15Speaker 9: locker room. So it's truly the guys that's in that
- 23:18Speaker 9: locker room that I root for.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Kenneth, you mentioned trying to get back to the Super Bowl,
- 23:22Speaker 1: trying to win a second Super Bowl. Do you see
- 23:24Speaker 1: any characteristics in this Tampa Bay team that might remind
- 23:28Speaker 1: you of the Eagles team that you were on that
- 23:30Speaker 1: won a Super Bowl?
- 23:32Speaker 3: No, most definitely.
- 23:33Speaker 9: We have a strong O-line guy that's willing to come
- 23:38Speaker 9: to work and do the small things. Our defense, a
- 23:42Speaker 9: defense that I've seen that we had in 24 that
- 23:47Speaker 9: can really go out there and take on small things
- 23:52Speaker 9: and get off the field on third downs. A special
- 23:57Speaker 9: team group that now was the worst special team groups
- 24:02Speaker 9: in the league last year, which is now flipping the
- 24:05Speaker 9: table and becoming one of the best special team groups.
- 24:09Speaker 9: We let one get away from us last week, but
- 24:12Speaker 9: that's something we're going to clean up and correct, and
- 24:15Speaker 9: we're just going to continue to work hard at it.
- 24:18Speaker 6: Kenneth, you're really good at running the ball, but really
- 24:22Speaker 6: what separates you is how you catch the ball out
- 24:25Speaker 6: of the backfield. And I'm just curious kind of what
- 24:27Speaker 6: goes into that and what separates you as a receiver
- 24:32Speaker 6: coming out of the backfield?
- 24:34Speaker 9: I truly understand coverages. I know what I see when
- 24:38Speaker 9: I'm running routes, and it slows down for me. You know,
- 24:42Speaker 9: the game has slowed down for me a lot, and
- 24:45Speaker 9: Just seeing as many coverages as I have seen over
- 24:48Speaker 9: the years, I know what I need to be doing
- 24:51Speaker 9: if I'm running a choice route. I know what I
- 24:52Speaker 9: need to be doing if I'm running a Texas route,
- 24:57Speaker 9: if I'm entering between the guard and tackle to run
- 25:01Speaker 9: a sneak route. I understand what these linebackers will be
- 25:05Speaker 9: seeing that and how corners will be seeing in cover
- 25:09Speaker 9: twos or cover three. I understand that. So that's what
- 25:13Speaker 9: really separates me. And, man, these hands, man, these hands
- 25:18Speaker 9: are something special.
- 25:20Speaker 5: The only thing nicer is a smile, man, right?
- 25:22Speaker 9: I mean, that's it. But so, but so. And don't forget,
- 25:27Speaker 9: Orby and Chris up with that. But, man, it's truly
- 25:34Speaker 9: the way that I come to work each and every day.
- 25:36Speaker 3: And I take that.
- 25:38Speaker 6: Who's the best you've ever seen as a receiver out
- 25:40Speaker 6: of the backfield?
- 25:40Speaker 3: Outside of myself?
- 25:43Speaker 6: Of course.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Yes.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Those hands are special, Kenneth.
- 25:47Speaker 9: These hands are special. We've seen what happened in Detroit
- 25:51Speaker 9: last year.
- 25:52Speaker 3: These hands are special.
- 25:54Speaker 9: But the best receiver I've seen come out of backfield,
- 25:59Speaker 9: it probably had to be Ivan Kamara.
- 26:04Speaker 3: He understands it. Yes.
- 26:05Speaker 9: You know, he understands it and he sees it. And
- 26:07Speaker 9: he good at running choice routes. He good at, you know,
- 26:11Speaker 9: doing everything. So.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Was your time playing quarterback in high school, did that
- 26:15Speaker 4: help you understand what it is you're doing when you're
- 26:17Speaker 4: going out for passes, the coverages?
- 26:18Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 26:19Speaker 5: Because you were a great quarterback, right?
- 26:22Speaker 3: Yeah, they helped me out a lot. So I understand
- 26:25Speaker 3: that part of it.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Kenneth, I walked onto the University of North Carolina, and
- 26:29Speaker 1: when I got there, I realized pretty quickly that the
- 26:32Speaker 1: NFL wasn't going to be in my cards in my future.
- 26:37Speaker 1: What was the first moment that you remember thinking that
- 26:39Speaker 1: the NFL was a realistic possibility for you?
- 26:43Speaker 9: Um, when I walked into Memphis, I was probably weighing
- 26:47Speaker 9: 180 pounds, you know, coming out of high school, thought
- 26:50Speaker 9: I was a big guy, you know, and all this,
- 26:52Speaker 9: because I was doing everything that you can think of
- 26:55Speaker 9: under the sun in high school as a, as a
- 26:58Speaker 9: running quarterback, as a passing quarterback.
- 27:00Speaker 3: So one, Mr.
- 27:01Speaker 9: Football, I thought I can do everything right. I went
- 27:04Speaker 9: to Memphis and I seen these guys and I was like, man,
- 27:08Speaker 9: I can do this. You know, I gained a little weight.
- 27:11Speaker 9: I started lifting a little bit more.
- 27:13Speaker 3: And I was like, I know I can do this now.
- 27:16Speaker 9: I came off the bench as a freshman, played four games,
- 27:19Speaker 9: took one to the crib for like 75 yards. I'm like, yeah,
- 27:23Speaker 9: I definitely can do this. So that really what made
- 27:26Speaker 9: me feel like, you know, I can do this thing
- 27:28Speaker 9: at the next level.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Once you got to the NFL, did you have like
- 27:32Speaker 4: a welcome to the NFL moment where someone just hit
- 27:34Speaker 4: you so hard, stood over you, actually said those words?
- 27:42Speaker 3: We were playing Green Bay, and I think it's, he
- 27:48Speaker 3: was number seven. He was a linebacker.
- 27:51Speaker 6: Right.
- 27:51Speaker 3: I forget his name. He played at Georgia.
- 27:55Speaker 5: Okay.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Well, look it up. He was like, Bro, I got
- 27:59Speaker 3: the ball. Quay Walker? Yeah, Quay Walker. I thought I
- 28:03Speaker 3: was clean.
- 28:04Speaker 5: Right.
- 28:05Speaker 3: I thought I was clean running up the middle.
- 28:07Speaker 5: Boom, out of nowhere, man.
- 28:09Speaker 9: I'm talking about God.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I'm like, okay.
- 28:14Speaker 9: Now I got to work on my peripheral, you know?
- 28:18Speaker 3: I got to work on seeing people out of the.
- 28:20Speaker 5: Side of my eye.
- 28:21Speaker 9: I'm like, okay, I got to be on. I got
- 28:24Speaker 9: hit so hard, man.
- 28:25Speaker 3: I was like, God. Body was sore.
- 28:28Speaker 5: I'm like, That's the biggest change, though, right? The speed.
- 28:30Speaker 5: Normally in college, you get right through there. That guy
- 28:32Speaker 5: doesn't come out of nowhere. He's not fast enough, right?
- 28:34Speaker 3: You don't see him in college because you already passed.
- 28:37Speaker 5: You know?
- 28:40Speaker 1: Kenneth, you were teammates in college with Tony Pollard, and
- 28:44Speaker 1: it's got to be cool to see both of you
- 28:46Speaker 1: still in the NFL and having success in the NFL.
- 28:49Speaker 5: Do you guys still have a relationship?
- 28:52Speaker 3: Yeah, we definitely have a good relationship.
- 28:55Speaker 9: I don't talk to him as often as we used
- 28:57Speaker 9: to talk in college. But, you know, seeing a guy,
- 29:01Speaker 9: talking to a guy, you know, that relationship would never change.
- 29:05Speaker 9: And I love seeing what he do right now, bro.
- 29:09Speaker 9: I love his game. When I came into Memphis, Mike
- 29:12Speaker 9: Novell wanted me to be behind him strictly because he
- 29:16Speaker 9: think we had the same, like, skill set. And, you know,
- 29:20Speaker 9: he was the four back. I was the four back. And,
- 29:23Speaker 9: you know, I love his game, man. I truly love
- 29:26Speaker 9: what he's doing right now.
- 29:28Speaker 4: I know Todd Bowles is not crazy, but I'm wondering
- 29:31Speaker 4: if your former coach Nick Sirianni is.
- 29:33Speaker 5: He's a little bit nuts, right? I mean.
- 29:38Speaker 3: I love Nick. man. Nick has a very past. He's
- 29:41Speaker 3: very passionate, bro. And he loved his game.
- 29:43Speaker 5: Yes.
- 29:43Speaker 3: He loved his, like one thing about him, bro, he
- 29:45Speaker 3: loved his players.
- 29:47Speaker 9: And like, when you have somebody that loves their players
- 29:51Speaker 9: as much as he do, I mean, you see that
- 29:54Speaker 9: come out on the sideline. You see that come out on,
- 29:59Speaker 9: on the TV and people are like, is this man crazy?
- 30:01Speaker 9: You know, but it's just, he won't let none fall for,
- 30:05Speaker 9: you know, the wrong of his players.
- 30:06Speaker 3: He loves his players.
- 30:07Speaker 5: Yes.
- 30:08Speaker 4: Uh, does Jalen Hurst, cause he's getting it today. Does
- 30:10Speaker 4: he get too much criticism? I happen to think he's
- 30:12Speaker 4: a great quarterback.
- 30:13Speaker 5: He's a winner.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Uh, he's been to two Superbowls, probably should have won
- 30:16Speaker 4: both of them. Uh, does he get criticized too much
- 30:19Speaker 4: in your opinion?
- 30:20Speaker 3: I think he do.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Um, I think Jalen is a smart quarterback.
- 30:24Speaker 9: I think, um, what he, what he's been doing, is
- 30:29Speaker 9: it's something special you know you can't you can't find
- 30:32Speaker 9: another winning quarterback that has been to super bowl in
- 30:35Speaker 9: the past three years yeah in the past what four
- 30:37Speaker 9: years that have been there twice lost one one one
- 30:42Speaker 9: been a super bowl mvp guy and continue to win
- 30:46Speaker 9: you know you know he's he's a good guy and
- 30:49Speaker 9: i i love what he's doing you know he's he
- 30:53Speaker 9: he's detailed to the t you know and A lot
- 30:57Speaker 9: of guys criticize him for not reading both sides of
- 31:03Speaker 9: the defense, but offensive coordinator wants you to read one
- 31:06Speaker 9: side of the defense.
- 31:07Speaker 3: I mean, you got to do your.
- 31:11Speaker 5: Job.
- 31:12Speaker 1: After last week's Thursday night football game between the Packers
