- 0:06Happy Sunday morning. I wanted to make sure we saw the
- 0:13legend Louis looking at us because he looked good.
- 0:16There he is, look at that, ears straight up.
- 0:20Oh I know what it is. DD just came walking through and
- 0:24he could sense her getting ready to come through, so he was
- 0:26alert. OK man oh man.
- 0:31First thing up on the docket. I was feeling a little guilty
- 0:38that I had been on X too much, so I took a poll yesterday and
- 0:44the poll was still going after about 3200 people right now.
- 0:52You're telling me it's 85? Fifteen, 85% of the people say
- 0:59we like how you engage with us on X.
- 1:03We like that you answer our questions.
- 1:06You know, I read some of the comments last night about 1:30
- 1:10in the morning, so about 3200 people, the polls still going.
- 1:17And you know, sometime you want to do a little check on
- 1:20yourself. You're like, man, I'm on this X
- 1:22too much. I'm on social media too much.
- 1:26How about on Sundays when your phone pops up with how many
- 1:29hours a day? My mine usually averages right
- 1:34at six hours, but I'm like, there's no way I'm on the phone
- 1:38that much. It's like, but whatever, I still
- 1:42get things done. I still get things done, but
- 1:46yeah, So what happened? I think this week is I I got my
- 1:51race car done on Tuesday. I worked hard on it Sunday,
- 1:56Monday, Tuesday. So I worked three days hard on
- 2:02the Sunoco dirt car, but I was done on Tuesday, so I was ready
- 2:05to go racing and then on Friday we got heated out.
- 2:11Canceled the races on Friday because of the heat.
- 2:13So there it is made me made me think, OK, OK, we all right we
- 2:20all right it was JJ Yeley. JJ Yeley, said Herman, if you
- 2:26would do social media a little less, we'd like you more.
- 2:31We got a lot of topics for today.
- 2:33That was the first one. I said somebody said, like, you
- 2:37know, just, you know, we constantly argue, constantly
- 2:41debate. Somebody said we don't argue.
- 2:43I said, right, we don't argue, we debate.
- 2:47JJ Yeley chimed in on something. Herman, what would you do with
- 2:52NASCAR? Whatever.
- 2:52And I said, oh, that's simple. I said years ago we used to have
- 2:56like 32 races, something like that.
- 2:58I said I would race less in NASCAR.
- 3:03I would have less NASCAR races because anytime you take
- 3:08something away, it makes people like it more.
- 3:12I see this happen with a lot of dirt tracks.
- 3:15You know, Lincoln, IL runs like twice a month.
- 3:22Brownstown, IL runs twice a month.
- 3:25Sometimes it's the only way to survive is to race less.
- 3:31And so it was just an idea I threw out there.
- 3:34It doesn't mean, it doesn't mean we have to, you know, and I'll
- 3:39tell you what, I just thought of this, if you go back, what, 8
- 3:42years ago, Dale Junior said We raced too much at NASCAR, He
- 3:47said. And for as much as Mark Martin
- 3:51and everybody's saying, you know, we're not like other
- 3:54sports, we're not. But Dale Junior said this and I,
- 3:59I liked it. I thought it was a good cliche,
- 4:02he said. Look at the NFL.
- 4:04They have 16 games. It's over and it leaves the fans
- 4:08wanting for more. So I also look inside
- 4:13psychology. Does NASCAR race too much?
- 4:19Respond right here. Do we race too much?
- 4:22Could we could we have a week off every month?
- 4:26What do we do? We race.
- 4:28We race February, March, April, May, June, July, August,
- 4:34September, October, November. Damn.
- 4:37I didn't. We raced 10 months out of the
- 4:39dam here Yes we do right there. I just did it Holy moly.
- 4:44Maybe we maybe we do race too much holy crap.
- 4:50Hey, we started, we start the Daytona 500 in February and we
- 4:56end in November, right? So or something like that.
- 5:02Maybe we race too much, maybe if we take a little bit away.
- 5:05So the Xfinity race, I got three things to say about the Xfinity
- 5:10race #1 Connor Zillich, three wins in a row, fifth win of the
- 5:16year. And I'm going to take credit for
- 5:19this. I'm the one that said it on
- 5:22social media. I said it right here, I think on
- 5:25XI, said Connor Zillich, is Connor Zillich.
- 5:28The next Jeff Gordon, I said it now all of a sudden, that's what
- 5:36everybody's saying now, the reason this one's getting a lot
- 5:39of lot of legs is because it was Dale Junior, Junior Motorsports,
- 5:45Kelly Earnhardt. It was their 100th win as Junior
- 5:50Motorsports. So that's giving Connor even
- 5:54more publicity on this deal. But listen, I'm just bringing it
- 5:58up. I've already said it.
- 6:00I already said that. I already said Gunner's Connor
- 6:03Zillich is a once in a generational talent.
- 6:08He just turned 19 years old. You know, you got to be running
- 6:12third to win or you got to put yourself in position to win.
- 6:17All right, next subject, how about Kyle Larson going for it?
- 6:21I mean, he just got loose up off at Turn 2 and got into Justin
- 6:25Algar. That's that's one of those
- 6:26deals. You're like, oh, he's loose.
- 6:28Oh, no, as he's loose, he gets into, you know, Justin Algar.
- 6:34So to me, there's just not much to talk about right there.
- 6:38That was a he was racing their balls off for the win.
- 6:41And that's what you want out of your driver.
- 6:44You see him get loose and then he saves it, but he's already
- 6:49into Justin. So that's that.
- 6:51So that's number two. One was Connor Zilich.
- 6:56I said that last week. He is.
- 6:57He is a generational talent. He is your Kyle Larson.
- 7:02He is your Christopher Bell. We'll think about it.
- 7:08You know, I don't know if he's as great as Jeff Gordon, but I
- 7:13believe we have more talent nowadays.
- 7:15I think Jeff Gordon was the innovator, let's put it that
- 7:18way. Let me be clear about that.
- 7:20Jeff Gordon was the innovator of young kids racing.
- 7:26Everybody started copying. It was John Bickford, his
- 7:29stepfather. Jeff told me this story.
- 7:31He said, dad, I'm getting tired of racing.
- 7:35And John Bickford said, OK, son, let's go, let's go out on the
- 7:39lake. So they went skiing.
- 7:41They took a little break. So for all you parents out
- 7:45there, you say you want to be like Jeff Gordon, don't wear
- 7:48your kids out. John Bickford, Caroline Bick,
- 7:52Carolyn Bickford, you know, Jeff's stepmother and real mom.
- 7:57They said OK, let's take a break.
- 7:58So they went skiing and stuff, water skiing.
- 8:00And Jeff said I think I want to race.
- 8:03Now. There's a lesson right there.
- 8:06Don't wear your kids out. Sometimes you'll wear your kids
- 8:09out. OK.
- 8:11And for the one y'all been waiting for, Austin Hill, I'm
- 8:14not going to beat it like a dead horse.
- 8:16Austin, listen, I don't know you, OK?
- 8:21And I'm a race car driver. I'm in this is kind of a this is
- 8:25funny what I'm going to say. I'm in the NASCAR drivers union.
- 8:29There's not one, I'm just joking.
- 8:31But Austin, you should have never been wearing white gloves.
- 8:36You should have never been wearing white gloves.
- 8:38You're and here's the problem. Everybody is so creative.
- 8:45They they showed that deal in slow motion.
- 8:50I mean, man, Austin just got pissed, blew his lid and turned
- 8:57left. And NASCAR, you can get away
- 9:01with moving somebody. You cannot hook anybody.
- 9:05And Austin, I'm sure you're a good guy.
- 9:07And I'm not throwing in. I'm not throwing in.
- 9:10I'm just saying if you're going to do that, change the color of
- 9:13your gloves. You do know going down the back
- 9:15straight away at Talladega on that day that Earnhardt and
- 9:18myself ran 1/2 at Talladega, it shocked me too.
- 9:22You know the man in black, Dale Senior, he was wearing white
- 9:25gloves and that's why you saw on that video, Dale Senior, the man
- 9:31in black like this. To me, Dale Senior's like this
- 9:34and that big old paw come up, the big old white gloves and the
- 9:38world could see it 'cause it was on ESPN and I could see it
- 9:43'cause I was right on his ass. And I said me hell yeah.
- 9:48So that's what done yen buddy. Sorry about that.
- 9:52So NASCAR are going to rough you up.
- 9:54You can get you're going to get in big trouble.
- 9:56And here's here's the other thing.
- 9:59Now I'm right here with you on like this, 'cause I lose my mind
- 10:02too. You notice I'm not roughing you
- 10:04up too much. I'm just saying you're, as my
- 10:07Mama would say, this too shall soon pass.
- 10:12You're probably going to be in more trouble for motherfucking
- 10:14NASCAR over the radio, like a lot.
- 10:20All right, so we're getting ready to go to the car in the
- 10:23ball game. Want to thank Doug Schoenfeld
- 10:26and his wife Missy Schoenfeld from Schoenfeld headers.
- 10:31Doug come up from Arkansas and he sent Herman and he came to he
- 10:37came to the dirt races last night.
- 10:39Almost forgot to tell you. I run second started 5th and run
- 10:44second. You go, you go through those you
- 10:47go you get your pit pass and they tell you draw a number and
- 10:50all and and the numbers going right and you hit a button.
- 10:53Mine Ant mine landed on 82. I started last row of my heat.
- 10:58So started 5th in the feature and run second.
- 11:04All right, ball game today. Probably get the trike ready
- 11:14tonight. Just let me just pack my clothes
- 11:18because we got to do Herman Schrader Monday morning and then
- 11:21Kim and I are headed north. All right, have a great Sunday.
