- 0:17Speaker 1: you mad bass.
- 0:19Speaker 3: It's great to have your company this Wednesday afternoon. It
- 0:22Speaker 3: is the 16th of September, 2026. And you, my friends,
- 0:25Speaker 3: as always, listening to the Big Show, brought.
- 0:28Speaker 1: To you by ReBurger.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options. ReBurger, redefining the norm.
- 0:34Speaker 1: ReBurger.
- 0:37Speaker 5: G'day, Mogi.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Stud, you stallion, you Greek god, you Adonis. How's life?
- 0:44Speaker 5: Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of
- 0:48Speaker 5: a bee, you shocking bastard, you lousy SOB, you weirdo,
- 0:54Speaker 5: you freak show. Pivot. Yeah.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Hey, hey.
- 0:59Speaker 5: Peeping Tom. Well, you handsy son of a bitch, you...
- 1:04Speaker 5: Going good, man. Got only a couple of weeks away from,
- 1:07Speaker 5: what do you call it there, daylight savings, fellas.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 1:11Speaker 5: It's not far now. Exciting stuff.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I tell you what, when we leave work now, the
- 1:16Speaker 1: birds are a-tweetin'.
- 1:18Speaker 5: Those goddamn birds.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Which is always a sign the seasons are a-changin'.
- 1:23Speaker 5: Have you noticed that, Keezy, you bad dog?
- 1:25Speaker 4: I've noticed that things are slightly changing. Cannot wait for
- 1:28Speaker 4: daylight savings.
- 1:29Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Because, of course, that means I can have my famous
- 1:31Speaker 4: after-dinner walk with my wife.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 4: After the show.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Because you get a bit spooked in the dark, eh?
- 1:37Speaker 4: It's a bit spooky.
- 1:38Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right, Jase.
- 1:39Speaker 4: I get spooked.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:41Speaker 4: So as soon as that sun goes down, I am indoors.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yes, well, as you should be. It's bloody rough out west.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Fast asleep with my nightlight on. Jase, how are you today, man?
- 1:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm good, thanks. Fellas, I can't complain. I'm feeling tickety-boo.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Oh, that's great news, man.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks, man. I'll tell you what, though.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Yes?
- 1:57Speaker 1: I am excited about this show.
- 2:00Speaker 5: What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogi. That's me,
- 2:07Speaker 5: I'm Old Mogi. Yes. That's what they call me. Last
- 2:11Speaker 5: two days to get yourselves in the draw for Would
- 2:14Speaker 5: You Rather. That is the opportunity to either go to
- 2:17Speaker 5: Mount Panorama, the home of Bathurst, or to the grand
- 2:20Speaker 5: final in Sydney. We're drawing that Monday morning, fellas. We're
- 2:23Speaker 5: doing the breakfast show tomorrow, Friday and Monday there. Bloody
- 2:27Speaker 5: exciting stuff. Outside of that, after five o'clock, Joel Little,
- 2:32Speaker 5: the famous Joel Little, producer for Lorde, for example, and
- 2:35Speaker 5: Taylor Swift and all sorts of other people, but also
- 2:37Speaker 5: the frontman singer-songwriter for the That incredible groundbreaking band, Goodnight Nurse, Keezy,
- 2:43Speaker 5: would have been one of your most influential Kiwi bands,
- 2:45Speaker 5: I'd imagine.
- 2:46Speaker 1: 100%, man.
- 2:46Speaker 4: I just couldn't get over how groundbreaking they were.
- 2:48Speaker 5: They're groundbreaking, man. I was all about Goodnight Nurse.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Good stuff.
- 2:51Speaker 5: And up next, old Keezy over here. He's been worried, man.
- 2:55Speaker 5: He's been worried. He started packing his house. He's got
- 2:57Speaker 5: to move out of home. You need a bit of
- 3:00Speaker 5: advice here, brother.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I can help you with that.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Just what to keep, what to give away, how not
- 3:05Speaker 4: to be overwhelmed by the whole thing.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yeah, sure.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Can help you there, man.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Here's the darkness.
- 3:10Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Radiohead there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon.
- 3:18Speaker 3: The time is, wait for it, wait for it, wait
- 3:22Speaker 3: for it, 4.13.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Good stuff.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Fellas, I'm moving out of my house, man.
- 3:26Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 3:27Speaker 4: So I've got until the end of next month to
- 3:29Speaker 4: get out of my joint. Buying a new place. Nothing's
- 3:32Speaker 4: popped up yet.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:33Speaker 5: But we've sold. So I have to get out.
- 3:35Speaker 4: And even though I've got nowhere to go to, I'm
- 3:37Speaker 4: going to start packing my stuff. Because I'm also going
- 3:40Speaker 4: on a holiday in a few weeks' time for two
- 3:41Speaker 4: weeks to Japan, which is kind of really badly timed.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Right.
- 3:46Speaker 4: So I've got to pack the house, go on holiday,
- 3:48Speaker 4: come back, pack the house, have nowhere to go.
- 3:51Speaker 5: You're very stressed out, aren't you? It's all coming down
- 3:54Speaker 5: on top of you at the same time.
- 3:56Speaker 4: When it rains, it pours, man.
- 3:57Speaker 5: Have you heard of that? Have you ever tried squeezing balls,
- 4:00Speaker 5: stress balls?
- 4:03Speaker 4: It's not so much the how to deal with stress
- 4:05Speaker 4: thing I need help with.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:06Speaker 5: I've never tried that.
- 4:07Speaker 4: No, I've never done it.
- 4:08Speaker 5: You should.
- 4:08Speaker 3: They do say buying and selling a house is one
- 4:11Speaker 3: of the more stressful things you can do.
- 4:13Speaker 1: 100%.
- 4:13Speaker 4: And it's really rewarding and really great.
- 4:16Speaker 5: I thought it was moving.
- 4:18Speaker 1: That as well.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Right.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Well, I'm doing that as well.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Moving somewhere.
- 4:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Look, Keezy, look, I can relate having just moved, well,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you know, at the beginning of the year we moved
- 4:29Speaker 1: after 27 years in the same joint. with four girls
- 4:35Speaker 1: that we brought up there, you can imagine the piles
- 4:39Speaker 1: of shit everywhere.
- 4:41Speaker 4: 100% useless garbage.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Garbage.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And I'll tell you, in terms of packing up your house,
- 4:47Speaker 3: because Mogi's a pro at this, but we weren't. The
- 4:50Speaker 3: phrase I used most often while we were doing that
- 4:54Speaker 3: was burn it.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Burn it.
- 4:58Speaker 4: I would have thought the phrase you used most often
- 4:59Speaker 4: would have been a swear word.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it was Evan and Jeff and then burn it.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So we had a big fire pit.
- 5:06Speaker 4: You just burn everything.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I dug a massive hole in the backyard and
- 5:10Speaker 1: we just burnt it.
- 5:11Speaker 4: But you can't burn everything. Like, for example, we've got
- 5:14Speaker 4: an ottoman.
- 5:15Speaker 1: They'll burn.
- 5:16Speaker 4: That I need to get rid of.
- 5:17Speaker 5: We've got a.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Single bed we don't really need.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Oh, actually. Yeah.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Which we're probably going to sell, you know? I was
- 5:23Speaker 4: thinking sell.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 5:26Speaker 4: I've got a brazier I don't want. Do braziers burn?
- 5:31Speaker 5: Well, not very well.
- 5:32Speaker 1: No. Have you considered a garage sale at Keezy's?
- 5:38Speaker 4: I don't really want to. No, I don't want to
- 5:39Speaker 4: do a garage sale.
- 5:40Speaker 5: You should, man. They've got great guns. We can organise
- 5:42Speaker 5: it for you or promote it through the Hauraki Big
- 5:44Speaker 5: Show social.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Totally, man.
- 5:45Speaker 3: We'll do that for you. We want to take some
- 5:47Speaker 3: of the load off Keezy. A Keezy garage sale.
- 5:51Speaker 5: And your house is going to be empty for a
- 5:52Speaker 5: couple of weeks, is it?
- 5:55Speaker 1: No.
- 5:55Speaker 4: My mum's coming to stay for two weeks.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Oh, I thought your bodybuilder jiu-jitsu mate was staying there.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, that's my mum. Look, and Jase, I appreciate
- 6:06Speaker 4: you and Mogi stepping up to help take my load,
- 6:08Speaker 4: but I want to be honest, I don't really want
- 6:11Speaker 4: the Hodaki audience to be, you know, around at my
- 6:13Speaker 4: house going through old Keezy stuff.
- 6:14Speaker 5: Oh, you hate them. I always forget about that.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Well, look, for me it's two birds, one stone.
- 6:18Speaker 4: Right.
- 6:19Speaker 3: You get rid of stuff and you make a bit
- 6:22Speaker 3: of money on the side.
- 6:23Speaker 4: But I don't have the stuff I've got to get
- 6:24Speaker 4: rid of. There's a few things that I'll sell.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Oh, look, anything you put out there, I think people
- 6:28Speaker 1: are going to snap up.
- 6:29Speaker 5: If working with Jase has taught you anything, I would
- 6:31Speaker 5: have hoped it would be that people will buy any
- 6:34Speaker 5: old shit.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Yeah, but actually, what's the name of that auction website
- 6:40Speaker 4: you use? Maybe I'll put all my stuff on there.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Oh, it's not... Quality enough, I'm afraid.
- 6:44Speaker 4: What, for that website?
- 6:45Speaker 5: For that website.
- 6:46Speaker 1: It's more of a garage sale type setup. But I
- 6:48Speaker 1: think that'd be great. Mogi and I could set up
- 6:51Speaker 1: a little lemonade stand.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Right, okay.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I can help you whichever way you
- 6:57Speaker 5: want to go, Keezy. You're moving and your approach to it,
- 7:01Speaker 5: it's a state of mind. My wife and I have
- 7:03Speaker 5: been together for 10 years. We've probably lived in 30-plus properties,
- 7:06Speaker 5: I would say.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Wow.
- 7:07Speaker 5: That's crazy. With absolutely no word of a lie. My
- 7:10Speaker 5: daughter is seven years old. She's lived in, I would say,
- 7:14Speaker 5: eight properties now, and this is the most settled we've
- 7:16Speaker 5: ever been in our lives. That's crazy. Everything about it
- 7:19Speaker 5: is easy. There's nothing to worry about. You're going to
- 7:22Speaker 5: be fine, and I can give you any kind of
- 7:25Speaker 5: advice you need, mate, any kind of advice you need,
- 7:28Speaker 5: because the thing is, if it gets too hard, You
- 7:30Speaker 5: can just walk out the door with the clothes on
- 7:32Speaker 5: your back and just forget about it.
- 7:34Speaker 1: What?
- 7:35Speaker 5: Just leave it. Just forget about it. Just walk into
- 7:38Speaker 5: the ocean and never look back.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Really?
- 7:40Speaker 1: And I can go around there and burn it. I'll
- 7:44Speaker 1: do that for you, Keezy.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Thanks, man. It's good stuff.
- 7:51Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 7:55Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. One simple question.
- 7:59Speaker 2: One weekend of a lifetime. Would you rather?
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yes, indeed, was or cars, you decide. We're getting down
- 8:06Speaker 3: to the pointy end of the competition. We're going to
- 8:09Speaker 3: be announcing the winner for that, by the way, on
- 8:10Speaker 3: the breakfast show on Monday. And we'll be doing that
- 8:13Speaker 3: show because we're going to be doing breakfast tomorrow, Friday
- 8:16Speaker 3: and Monday, fellas.
- 8:17Speaker 1: You excited?
- 8:18Speaker 5: Frothing it.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Frothing. Fizzed.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Big shout out to BoysTrip.co.nz. Both of these trips, depending
- 8:26Speaker 4: on which one you win, will be provided by them.
- 8:28Speaker 4: They handle everything, flights, accommodation, shuttles, blah, blah, blah. There's
- 8:32Speaker 4: lots of good stuff.
- 8:32Speaker 1: All that jazz. Or the admin, if you will.
- 8:35Speaker 5: It's marginally stressful, isn't it? Because with doing breakfast on Monday,
- 8:38Speaker 5: we've got the wires on your Sunday night. And if
- 8:40Speaker 5: we win, it's going to be a huge run. We're
- 8:42Speaker 5: just going to have to come straight in.
- 8:43Speaker 1: That's a bloody good call, actually, Mogi.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Thanks, mate.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Really good call. G'day, Sean.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Oh, we're going to Sean over, yeah.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yeah, you mad bastard. How's life? Good, thanks. That's good. Sean,
- 8:55Speaker 1: you had a good day? Yeah, yeah, I've been pretty
- 8:57Speaker 1: busy with work, yeah. Yeah, good on you, mate. It's annoying,
- 9:00Speaker 1: isn't it?
- 9:00Speaker 5: Work always gets in the way of cool stuff, man.
- 9:03Speaker 5: What do you do for a crust, by the way?
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'm an insurance broker. Oh, backbone.
- 9:09Speaker 5: You must have the woman throwing themselves at you, do you, Sean?
- 9:14Speaker 1: Not totally, no. Right, okay. Now tell me, Sean, where
- 9:18Speaker 1: are you leaning in terms of this competition? I'd be
- 9:22Speaker 1: in our grand final, certainly. Yeah, no, good call, my love.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Who would you take with you, Sean?
- 9:27Speaker 5: My wife.
- 9:28Speaker 2: My wife.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 9:30Speaker 1: Yeah, nice, mate. Well, you're in the draw. Good luck. Cheers.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Thank you very much. Good on you, Sean. Thank you, Sean.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Thank you. G'day, Jenna. How's life?
- 9:39Speaker 5: Amazing.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Is it? Wow. Says who? Tell me why is it
- 9:47Speaker 1: so amazing, Jenna? Because I've been trying to.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Ring through for over a week and I finally got through.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Now you're talking.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Hello. my lotto ticket good stuff uh tell me jenna
- 10:00Speaker 1: what do you do for a crust kindy take care
- 10:05Speaker 1: oh yeah i need a few nights away to go
- 10:07Speaker 1: to the nrl grand final and get away from.
- 10:09Speaker 5: Kids how's this uh winter been for you sickness wise
- 10:13Speaker 5: there jenna It makes the day quieter when they're all
- 10:15Speaker 5: the way sick. Yeah, that's great, isn't it? How good.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I've always found kindergartens to be a potpourri of disease,
- 10:22Speaker 3: you know what I mean?
- 10:23Speaker 1: And filth. And filth, which I think is really healthy
- 10:25Speaker 1: for kids.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Yeah, and parents want to get rid of their own kids, so.
- 10:29Speaker 5: They send them to us.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. That's very true. Where are you leaning, Jenna?
- 10:35Speaker 4: Definitely the NRL.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Yeah, okay. And who would you take with you?
- 10:38Speaker 5: Bestie Gina.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Gina and Gina.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Here comes trouble.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Yeah, that's trouble.
- 10:43Speaker 5: Too mad, dog.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Gina, you're in the draw, mate. You hold the line,
- 10:47Speaker 4: all right?
- 10:48Speaker 1: Thank you so much. You're welcome. Kindy teacher, eh?
- 10:53Speaker 5: What?
- 10:54Speaker 1: That would be hard, Jack. And it's true, you know,
- 10:57Speaker 1: parents so many times be like, oh, thank God, dumped
- 11:00Speaker 1: my kid there, off we go.
- 11:02Speaker 5: Well, we went through that transition early on, didn't we?
- 11:05Speaker 5: When I started the show here, I had a two-year-old.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:08Speaker 5: A two-year-old. And so there's sort of a competition, Keezy,
- 11:10Speaker 5: when you get to the kindy there and your kid's
- 11:14Speaker 5: sick and you know your kid is sick, what you're
- 11:16Speaker 5: trying to do is get your kid through the gate.
- 11:18Speaker 5: And get in your car before they can say anything
- 11:20Speaker 5: to you. That's the game. Now, my thing is always,
- 11:22Speaker 5: if you haven't said anything to me by the time
- 11:24Speaker 5: I get to my car, that kid's yours for the day.
- 11:27Speaker 5: No takey-backsies. Right, okay. That's the sort of game you play.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Finders keepers.
- 11:31Speaker 5: There's a couple of occasions where they wouldn't take us,
- 11:33Speaker 5: so I had to walk along beside the fence and
- 11:35Speaker 5: then just launch her over the fence into the playground there.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Oh, that's right.
- 11:39Speaker 5: And then just keep on walking.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Because you taught her how to do the loosey-goosey.
- 11:42Speaker 1: You go loosey-goosey.
- 11:44Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, totally, yeah.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Hey, plenty more chances to get yourself in the draw
- 11:47Speaker 4: for Would You Rather this week. We're going to be
- 11:49Speaker 4: doing a blitz tomorrow morning and Friday on the Brekkie
- 11:51Speaker 4: Show as well, but we will be calling the winner Monday.
- 11:54Speaker 4: So make sure you've got your phone on you, you're
- 11:56Speaker 4: ready to call 0800 HODAKI, and, of course, you're listening
- 11:59Speaker 4: to Radio HODAKI.
- 12:00Speaker 2: The HODAKI Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 12:03Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Isn't he blue there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show
- 12:09Speaker 3: this Wednesday afternoon? The time is 4.36 and it was
- 12:12Speaker 3: an exciting day today, fellas, with the launch of the
- 12:16Speaker 3: Radio Hodaki and ACC mascot.
- 12:20Speaker 5: That's right.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Celebrating the fact that Black Clash tickets for Christchurch at
- 12:24Speaker 4: the beginning of next year are on sale today.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Man. Yeah, man. How good.
- 12:27Speaker 4: We were like, man, we need to get down there
- 12:28Speaker 4: and have a mascot because, you know, it's on TVNZ.
- 12:30Speaker 4: They've got a mascot. There's a few other mascots getting
- 12:32Speaker 4: a mascot.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Well, I'm very passionate. I used to be a mascot.
- 12:35Speaker 3: That's how I got into this whole industry. And I'll
- 12:38Speaker 3: be honest with you, I was a little bit peaked.
- 12:41Speaker 3: that I wasn't consulted in terms of, you know, what
- 12:44Speaker 3: they were thinking for the mascot or ideas for the mascot.
- 12:48Speaker 3: But I've got to be honest with you, fellas, when
- 12:50Speaker 3: it came out, I was like, you nailed it.
- 12:52Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely nailed it. The one thing I don't know,
- 12:56Speaker 5: because as you say, Jase, we knew nothing about it.
- 12:58Speaker 5: I had seen nothing about it until it was announced.
- 13:01Speaker 5: I saw it on social media this morning like everybody
- 13:03Speaker 5: else did. Um, has it got a name?
- 13:05Speaker 1: Not yet.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Oh, so we're going to run some sort of like
- 13:08Speaker 4: name it probably competition, you know, towards the black clash there.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Cause.
- 13:12Speaker 4: As I said, we need a mascot, a Hodaki mascot.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
- 13:16Speaker 3: And I couldn't be more stoked with what they've come
- 13:19Speaker 3: up with. I mean, in terms of, hey, something that
- 13:21Speaker 3: represents us as a station.
- 13:23Speaker 1: As a radio station. You know, and boom, they nailed it.
- 13:26Speaker 4: If you'd like to see some footage or photos of it,
- 13:28Speaker 4: check out the Radio Hodaki Facebook page or the Radio
- 13:32Speaker 4: Hodaki Instagram. There's some shots up there of The Breakfast
- 13:34Speaker 4: Show guys unveiling it. Jason, you mentioned that you have
- 13:38Speaker 4: mascotting experience. You used to work at the Warriors?
- 13:41Speaker 1: Yes, at the Warriors there, because I was Wally the Wombat,
- 13:45Speaker 1: as I've previously discussed.
- 13:46Speaker 4: And so what year was this?
- 13:49Speaker 5: I'd say 97, 98.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Late 90s?
- 13:53Speaker 1: That long ago. Yeah, maybe.
- 13:55Speaker 4: 30 years ago, so he would have been nine.
- 13:57Speaker 3: And he was designed, and Moki talked about this yesterday, interestingly,
- 14:00Speaker 3: because what they found is that when the Australian team
- 14:04Speaker 3: scored against the Warriors, the crowd went silent.
- 14:07Speaker 5: It still happens.
- 14:08Speaker 3: It just goes deathly quiet. So they wanted to create
- 14:12Speaker 3: a character that when that happened could rack up the crowd.
- 14:16Speaker 3: So I was like basically fresh meat. to the ravenous
- 14:21Speaker 3: crowd so you'd.
- 14:21Speaker 4: Be sidelined when they'd score you'd be like jumping.
- 14:24Speaker 3: For joy I'd literally be you know I'm saying kiss
- 14:27Speaker 3: my butt.
- 14:27Speaker 5: And back in those days you must have been exhausted
- 14:30Speaker 5: because the opposition was scoring left right and C yeah
- 14:33Speaker 5: I And.
- 14:34Speaker 3: This is a true story I will never, ever forget.
- 14:37Speaker 3: The first time I did it and the game kicked
- 14:40Speaker 3: off and I was fired up.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I was pumped up and I was running around the
- 14:44Speaker 1: joint and I was exhausted, like absolutely physically shattered because
- 14:50Speaker 1: you're inside this big horrendous outfit.
- 14:54Speaker 3: And I looked up at the clock in terms of
- 14:58Speaker 3: the game clock. It had been going for three minutes.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Oh, my God. And I was like... Oh, my God.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Far out. So you were more tired than the players were.
- 15:08Speaker 3: But the best thing about it was that I used
- 15:10Speaker 3: to get to stand in the stadium with the teams
- 15:13Speaker 3: before they came out.
- 15:14Speaker 5: In the tunnel.
- 15:14Speaker 1: In the tunnel there because I used to have my
- 15:16Speaker 1: own little song that I ran out to.
- 15:18Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And the big joke was I'd be going, woo, woo.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Running out to the middle of the pitch and then
- 15:25Speaker 1: I'd fake a trip and fall over. It was the
- 15:29Speaker 1: ultimate slapstick comedy. But, man, I got the crap beaten
- 15:33Speaker 1: out of me. I got bins thrown at me. It
- 15:37Speaker 1: was just all on for a while. Young and old.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Yeah, so do you want to do it again?
- 15:42Speaker 1: No, not– I don't think I'd fit that particular– It's.
- 15:45Speaker 5: Quite– I'd be into it. I guess probably what we
- 15:50Speaker 5: have to do is we're going to have to describe
- 15:52Speaker 5: this thing. It's a weird setup, isn't it? It's striking.
- 15:57Speaker 5: It's a cricket bat with two balls. Does that sound
- 16:00Speaker 5: about right? That's about right. And nothing says Radio Hauraki
- 16:05Speaker 5: like a cricket bat with two balls. 100%. And we're
- 16:11Speaker 5: also sharing it with the ACC, is that right?
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 16:14Speaker 5: We're saving money.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Once again, if you'd like to see a photo, the
- 16:17Speaker 4: Radio Hauraki Facebook or Instagram.
- 16:19Speaker 5: It's pretty cool. It's very good.
- 16:22Speaker 1: If you've seen it, text us 3483 and let us
- 16:25Speaker 1: know what you think.
- 16:27Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yes, indeed, ACDC there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show
- 16:35Speaker 1: this Wednesday afternoon. Fellas, let's talk TV. What's on the
- 16:42Speaker 1: telly with Mike Minogue. Yeah! That's right.
- 16:50Speaker 5: Well, as already discussed, fellas, off air. Old Mogi had
- 16:54Speaker 5: a bath. I was feeling crook last night. I was
- 16:56Speaker 5: absolutely positive I was going to get a flu.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Positive.
- 16:59Speaker 5: Went home, had a bath. I laid in the bath there.
- 17:02Speaker 5: I was naked.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. It was the day I was born.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Bathed naked. That's weird. I covered myself up with a flannel, obviously.
- 17:11Speaker 5: Or I cover my eyes up so I can't see myself. Yeah, okay.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Yeah, understandable.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Otherwise I can get carried away easy. And I watched
- 17:18Speaker 5: a rugby league podcast, This Warrior's Life, which I enjoy
- 17:21Speaker 5: very much, but you probably don't want to hear about
- 17:23Speaker 5: that here. What did you watch, Jase? God.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Absolute doozy of a movie.
- 17:30Speaker 5: What's it called?
- 17:31Speaker 1: Doozy. Sheena. 1984. Check this out for a plot. When
- 17:38Speaker 1: the Zambouli tribe in Africa adopts Sheena, they realise she
- 17:44Speaker 1: has telepathic powers.
- 17:47Speaker 5: Telepathic.
- 17:49Speaker 3: So, the queen of the jungle uses her gift to
- 17:53Speaker 3: rescue her foster mother, who was wrongly framed for murdering.
- 17:59Speaker 5: Can I ask if she can speak to the animals?
- 18:01Speaker 1: She can. Yes, I remember this movie. Now, I love
- 18:06Speaker 1: myself a bit of... You know, action and adventure. And
- 18:10Speaker 1: I'll be honest, I don't mind a bit of nudity.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And it had all of those things in spades.
- 18:20Speaker 3: It was, without question, the most ridiculous movie I've ever
- 18:25Speaker 3: seen in my life.
- 18:26Speaker 5: Wow.
- 18:27Speaker 3: And Sheena, the main character, basically wears no clothes.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Yeah. In essence.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Played by Tanya Roberts.
- 18:35Speaker 5: Yes. Tanya, old Tanya there.
- 18:37Speaker 3: And there's a lot of characters that basically wear no clothes.
- 18:40Speaker 5: Yes.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Are they all female?
- 18:42Speaker 1: Mostly, yes. Okay.
- 18:44Speaker 3: So it's just a terrible, nudie romp in the desert.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Oh, and can I say, she rides a zebra.
- 18:55Speaker 4: That sounds great. Can I just say for the audience,
- 18:58Speaker 4: it came out in 1984.
- 19:00Speaker 5: 1984.
- 19:00Speaker 4: IMDB gives it 4.9 out of 10, and Rotten Tomatoes 11%.
- 19:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Instead of out of 100%, so pretty good. How many buzzies?
- 19:12Speaker 1: Well, plenty.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Out of five.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Out of five. Look, on that front, I've got to
- 19:16Speaker 1: give it five.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Five buzzies out of five, really?
- 19:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Look, it's a fun, easy-to-watch romp. Five out of five.
- 19:24Speaker 4: Did you watch it solo or with your wife?
- 19:26Speaker 1: Solo.
- 19:28Speaker 5: Did you watch it all the way to the end?
- 19:30Speaker 1: Yes.
- 19:30Speaker 5: I bet you did.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Well, it was so cool. The zebra.
- 19:35Speaker 4: Was it a real zebra or was it a painted horse?
- 19:38Speaker 1: I think it was a painted horse.
- 19:41Speaker 4: That's called Sheena. Where did you watch that?
- 19:43Speaker 1: Samsung TV.
- 19:45Speaker 5: I've got to get that.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Bit of good shit. Why not?
- 19:52Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 19:55Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're getting through your
- 20:00Speaker 3: hump day all right. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally,
- 20:03Speaker 3: brought to you by Re-Berger.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Re-Berger.
- 20:07Speaker 5: Re-Berger.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 20:11Speaker 3: I don't know if I've ever been so excited as
- 20:14Speaker 3: I am right now.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Yeah? Why's that? Oh, just the news. The news.
- 20:18Speaker 5: For Keezy.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Well, can't you just tell me right now?
- 20:21Speaker 1: Well, no, I don't want to. Just.
- 20:23Speaker 5: Can you give him a clue?
- 20:25Speaker 1: Dream come true. Oh.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Oh.
- 20:28Speaker 5: Really?
- 20:29Speaker 1: I think so. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:31Speaker 4: What is my dream? What would it be? Mogi suggested
- 20:36Speaker 4: he's holding up three fingers, but I don't understand what
- 20:38Speaker 4: he means.
- 20:40Speaker 5: What would that be?
- 20:41Speaker 4: Like a roll on TV3 maybe?
- 20:44Speaker 1: Ooh, yeah, well, it could be something like that.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Can you tell me next?
- 20:47Speaker 1: Well, this is what I mean.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I just want to sort of bang through the next
- 20:51Speaker 3: couple of songs so we can get into it.
- 20:53Speaker 5: Oh, okay. Just bang through them then.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, good.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Bang, bang.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Arctic Monkey. Arctic Monkey. More than one, yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 21:07Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Tune. Black by Pearl Jam. But we've got some breaking news.
- 21:19Speaker 5: This is breaking news.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Most of you will be aware, and when I say
- 21:26Speaker 1: most of you, I mean our listeners, that I'm Keezy's agent.
- 21:31Speaker 1: And I'll be... I'll be honest with you, it hasn't
- 21:33Speaker 1: gone well yet.
- 21:34Speaker 5: He wants to be an actor. He does. Well, I
- 21:36Speaker 5: want anything.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Like, you know, I'm a talented TV presenter, you know?
- 21:41Speaker 4: I can do voiceovers. Like, oh, hey, it's me. You know, like,
- 21:44Speaker 4: I can MC stuff.
- 21:46Speaker 5: You can do the first seasons of things.
- 21:47Speaker 4: I can do the first season of stuff before getting replaced.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:50Speaker 4: I've done that twice.
- 21:51Speaker 1: I'd think more pilot for you, but certainly, look.
- 21:56Speaker 4: Flying a plane?
- 21:57Speaker 1: No, like, just sort of dummy runs for shows.
- 21:59Speaker 5: Oh, right.
- 22:00Speaker 1: But, um... You've certainly got some skills, Keezy. Thank you.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I don't just have anyone on my books. You know
- 22:08Speaker 1: what I'm saying?
- 22:08Speaker 4: I'm starting to wonder if you do have anyone else
- 22:10Speaker 4: on your books, if I'm honest.
- 22:12Speaker 1: You know, I can see talent from a mile away.
- 22:16Speaker 5: Right.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I had to get a bit closer for you, but
- 22:19Speaker 1: I believe in you, man.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Thanks, man.
- 22:21Speaker 1: And I know it's always been a dream of yours
- 22:23Speaker 1: to get on the television.
- 22:24Speaker 4: Well, I worked in television for over a decade.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. But, you know, like, as you, Keezy.
- 22:30Speaker 4: You know what I mean? My name's Chris. Hang on.
- 22:34Speaker 4: So you've got me on television as me. So you're saying, because,
- 22:38Speaker 4: you know, I do Game of Two Halves, for example.
- 22:40Speaker 4: I'm being me on that. Crowd goes, well, I used
- 22:42Speaker 4: to work there. You know, I was just being me
- 22:43Speaker 4: on that.
- 22:45Speaker 1: This is more a reality show, and I know that. Yeah,
- 22:49Speaker 1: I know.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 22:50Speaker 1: TVNZ?
- 22:52Speaker 4: Is it TVNZ?
- 22:53Speaker 1: It is TVNZ, yes. Oh, my God. Yeah, yeah.
- 22:55Speaker 4: I heard they're doing another season of this.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Yes.
- 22:59Speaker 5: And, you know, oh.
- 23:00Speaker 3: And I've got to be honest with you, Mogi, you'll
- 23:02Speaker 3: appreciate this. I can't disclose at this point.
- 23:06Speaker 5: No.
- 23:07Speaker 1: What it is because of, you know, various privacy issues. Okay, yep.
- 23:12Speaker 3: But I'll tell you what got you in in the end.
- 23:16Speaker 3: It's the fact that you're a very resourceful fella.
- 23:19Speaker 1: You know what I mean? You're a fix-it kind of guy.
- 23:21Speaker 5: That's right.
- 23:22Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 23:22Speaker 4: Yes, which if it's the show I'm thinking of, 100%
- 23:26Speaker 4: that does come in handy.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Yeah, totally. And I'd like to think, too, you've got
- 23:30Speaker 3: a pretty calm demeanour, generally speaking.
- 23:33Speaker 5: And if something's not going your way, in which case
- 23:36Speaker 5: you lose sleep, you freak out. Sort of panic. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Apart from that... Yeah. But no, and it's a reality
- 23:47Speaker 1: show that's huge, by the way.
- 23:48Speaker 5: Very, very big.
- 23:49Speaker 1: As well you would know.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Yes, okay, right. So what, when, where, what?
- 23:54Speaker 1: And the fact that you're resourceful and you're fit and young.
- 23:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:58Speaker 1: And you've got a bit of meat in your bones.
- 24:00Speaker 1: you know you're carrying my bones you've got some meat
- 24:02Speaker 1: on your bones.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Oh yeah yeah yeah great I mean I don't know
- 24:05Speaker 4: how that has anything to do with anything um so
- 24:08Speaker 4: all of these things and you're sort of quirky looking
- 24:10Speaker 4: stop listing reasons why now and just tell.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Me um well as I say I can't I can't
- 24:17Speaker 3: really go into the specifics okay how about this it's
- 24:19Speaker 3: something that you've always well you've always wanted to do
- 24:22Speaker 3: reality television yes as KC and this is this is
- 24:26Speaker 3: your opportunity.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Basically right okay so when does it start filming um
- 24:30Speaker 4: In about three months' time.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Okay.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Yes, yes.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Over summer, nice. Smart.
- 24:33Speaker 1: It won't be summer. It won't be summer.
- 24:36Speaker 5: No.
- 24:36Speaker 4: It will be summer.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Not where they're filming this, no.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Oh, they're taking it offshore? Yes.
- 24:42Speaker 5: That's very much offshore.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Way offshore.
- 24:44Speaker 5: Yeah. I think they've done one season here. Oh, they have.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. They've done one season here.
- 24:49Speaker 4: One season here?
- 24:50Speaker 1: Yes, yeah.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Okay, well, we're thinking of different shows then.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Oh, are we?
- 24:52Speaker 4: So what shows? What do I have to do?
- 24:54Speaker 5: Well, this one I think, Jase, is going to be
- 24:56Speaker 5: filmed in a very remote part. Right.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Okay.
- 25:01Speaker 5: Of Siberia.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah. Bloody cold there.
- 25:04Speaker 5: So sort of autumn going into winter, late autumn going
- 25:07Speaker 5: into winter. Siberia, right, okay. Yes.
- 25:10Speaker 1: It's beautiful in autumn, apparently.
- 25:12Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 1: But bloody cold and freezing in winter.
- 25:16Speaker 5: Like minus 60, 70. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm in a hotel, obviously.
- 25:20Speaker 5: But sort of some pretty famous areas. The producers apparently
- 25:23Speaker 5: have heard. Jase has told me. Jase has told me
- 25:26Speaker 5: this off-air.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Don't you give too much away here, Mogi.
- 25:28Speaker 5: Have you heard of the Road of Bones? The Road
- 25:32Speaker 5: of Bones.
- 25:33Speaker 4: I think I've seen the– no. Sorry, no.
- 25:36Speaker 5: That's where the Russians got sort of political prisoners to
- 25:40Speaker 5: build a road that went across a Siberian wasteland. Right.
- 25:45Speaker 5: A lot of people died.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:46Speaker 5: A lot of people. Pretty much everyone. And so they
- 25:50Speaker 5: called it the Road of Bones because it was built on– Yeah.
- 25:53Speaker 4: What's that got to do– I don't understand because I'm
- 25:56Speaker 4: obviously in a hotel or something and we're shooting.
- 25:58Speaker 1: I don't– No, there's no hotels in this show, Keezy.
- 26:02Speaker 4: What am I doing? How much do I get paid?
- 26:05Speaker 5: Well, you've got to be out in the middle of nowhere.
- 26:08Speaker 5: I can't say exactly, but let's just say you're by yourself.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:11Speaker 5: I'm by myself.
- 26:12Speaker 1: You're by yourself. And there's no one within Kui of you.
- 26:15Speaker 1: There's no kilometers and kilometers.
- 26:17Speaker 5: You've got castmates, but they're nowhere near you.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Right, and are they also by themselves?
- 26:21Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:22Speaker 5: They are by themselves.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Very much by themselves. Can I also say, and this
- 26:25Speaker 1: is another thing that was a plus in your favor, actually. Yeah.
- 26:28Speaker 1: You have to do all your own filming and take
- 26:31Speaker 1: your own filming equipment and all that sort of stuff.
- 26:33Speaker 1: You're sort of a one-man crew. And I said, oh,
- 26:34Speaker 1: Keezy can do that. He's a technical wimp.
- 26:37Speaker 5: Piece of piss. On the bright side as well, though,
- 26:39Speaker 5: huge prize money, half a million dollars.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Right, but that's only if I win.
- 26:43Speaker 5: Yeah, only if you're the last man or woman standing.
- 26:45Speaker 4: And if I don't, what do I get? Oh.
- 26:48Speaker 5: Nothing, but, you know.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Frostbite, probably.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Hypothermia.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Right, okay. Yeah.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Is the name of the show.
- 26:57Speaker 5: You could get attacked by bears.
- 26:59Speaker 1: There's wolves as well.
- 27:02Speaker 5: How are you with wolves?
- 27:04Speaker 1: Yes.
- 27:04Speaker 5: Have you got anything to dogs?
- 27:06Speaker 4: No, I'm all G with dogs. This isn't... It's not alone,
- 27:10Speaker 4: is it?
- 27:10Speaker 5: Couldn't say.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Can't tell you.
- 27:11Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 27:16Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Red.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Hot!
- 27:20Speaker 3: Chili Peppers there on the Radio Hauraki. Big show this
- 27:24Speaker 3: Wednesday afternoon. The time is 5.24.
- 27:27Speaker 4: Fellas, the Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival is happening
- 27:30Speaker 4: again in November.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yeah, boy!
- 27:34Speaker 4: Emerson's, the great New Zealanders are going to be there
- 27:36Speaker 4: as well, which is bloody exciting. To celebrate the fact,
- 27:38Speaker 4: they've got a whole lot of Emerson's hoodies made up
- 27:40Speaker 4: and they've given them all to us to dish out
- 27:42Speaker 4: to people who are keen to name our beer. They're
- 27:45Speaker 4: making a special beer for the Dunedin Craft Beer and
- 27:47Speaker 4: Food Festival. It's a tropical hazy pale ale. It just
- 27:50Speaker 4: needs a name, guys.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 27:51Speaker 4: 3483, text your suggestions through and Pug's going to dish
- 27:55Speaker 4: out a few of those hoodies there. Let's name our beer, eh?
- 27:57Speaker 1: Ah! I tell you what, those Emerson hoodies are bloody
- 28:12Speaker 1: great value, especially when you're down and downers because it's.
- 28:16Speaker 1: She's a bit chilly down there sometimes in a nice
- 28:18Speaker 1: warm hoodie.
- 28:19Speaker 5: How good. Totally. They are free. They are free, so
- 28:22Speaker 5: that's great value. You don't get better value than free.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true.
- 28:25Speaker 5: It is a value for money.
- 28:26Speaker 4: 3483, text us your name for the beer. So it's
- 28:29Speaker 4: Tropical Hazy IPA. Here are some submissions that have come through, fellas.
- 28:34Speaker 4: The Mokey J Hazy IPA. So I guess that's all
- 28:38Speaker 4: three of us put together.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Mokey J, right.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Mokey J.
- 28:41Speaker 5: Mokey.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Old Mokey J. Hoorah of a hazy.
- 28:47Speaker 5: I like that.
- 28:48Speaker 1: I don't mind it.
- 28:48Speaker 5: That's up there now.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Yes.
- 28:50Speaker 4: Or hoorah of a brew. Because that rhymes with mood.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:56Speaker 4: No, don't just say yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 5: So who did that come from? That sounds like that
- 28:59Speaker 5: came from you.
- 28:59Speaker 1: That was just me. I just said that.
- 29:01Speaker 5: It's got to come from the listeners.
- 29:02Speaker 4: What if I text it in?
- 29:03Speaker 5: Yeah, you can have a crack, but you can't win.
- 29:05Speaker 5: No hoodie for Keezy.
- 29:06Speaker 4: I'm not allowed a hoodie. Surely if I wanted a hoodie,
- 29:09Speaker 4: I'd be allowed to have one.
- 29:10Speaker 1: No. Well, you got those free shirts last night at
- 29:12Speaker 1: the Do You Win?
- 29:13Speaker 5: Yeah, you got your Wolverine shirt.
- 29:14Speaker 1: You got your Wolverine shirt for free.
- 29:15Speaker 4: Such a weird reference. I did get a Wolverine shirt.
- 29:19Speaker 5: Thanks, fellas. Yeah, you did.
- 29:20Speaker 4: Hey, tropical, keezy, male, pale, stale, Indian pale ale. Guys,
- 29:28Speaker 4: we can't just slam.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Well, no, I'm just going to say.
- 29:31Speaker 5: It's not our fault if they're terrible, Keezy, is it?
- 29:33Speaker 3: Just because you use a lot of words doesn't make
- 29:35Speaker 3: it right. Mind you, that one with you on all fours,
- 29:37Speaker 3: that was good.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that one.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Noise control.
- 29:43Speaker 5: Well, it is actually, but it turns the noise up.
- 29:46Speaker 5: It does. Noise control. It's not bad.
- 29:49Speaker 4: Hazy midnight steamers.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Are they?
- 29:53Speaker 5: Hazy bastard. Yes.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Yes.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that's pretty good.
- 29:57Speaker 5: Hazy bastard's great.
- 29:58Speaker 4: Hoppy honks.
- 29:59Speaker 5: She's a hazy bastard. Hoppy honks.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Nah.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Oh.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Jack's text through saying, just name it Turi, like the
- 30:07Speaker 4: old boat the old Radio Haraki started on.
- 30:09Speaker 1: The Turi.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Nah.
- 30:12Speaker 1: No, I don't think so.
- 30:13Speaker 4: Meat patty nip juice.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Yeah, there's nothing wrong with that.
- 30:19Speaker 5: Who wants to drink that, though?
- 30:21Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean, if you didn't know about the
- 30:23Speaker 3: show and someone saw.
- 30:26Speaker 1: That and went, meat patty nip juice.
- 30:28Speaker 4: Can I have a pint of it, please?
- 30:30Speaker 1: You'd be like, oh, no. I'm all geese. Be salty.
- 30:32Speaker 5: I'm all geese.
- 30:34Speaker 4: Shock and bastard lager. Make it at least 6.5% strength. Well,
- 30:39Speaker 4: it's a tropical hazy, what is it?
- 30:41Speaker 1: Pale ale.
- 30:42Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 1: What was the one we liked?
- 30:45Speaker 5: Three Honkers?
- 30:46Speaker 1: No, no, no. The one today, our hazy bath.
- 30:49Speaker 5: The hazy bath.
- 30:50Speaker 1: That's up there for number one. That's good.
- 30:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so.
- 30:52Speaker 1: At the moment, yes.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Keep those eggs coming. 3483, name our beer. And if
- 30:57Speaker 4: you'd like tickets to the Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival,
- 30:59Speaker 4: head to dunedinbeerfestival.co.nz. Shapeshift is going.
- 31:02Speaker 1: To be there.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Troy Kingy, Red Fountain, Park Road as well. and over
- 31:06Speaker 4: 75 beer and food vendors.
- 31:07Speaker 1: How good.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Up next, Joel Little.
- 31:12Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 31:15Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Wednesday night is going.
- 31:23Speaker 5: Off.
- 31:24Speaker 1: You're listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Crave with your street food, freshly made Reburger.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Burger. Burger.
- 31:34Speaker 4: I want the rest of that opera.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Yeah, so do I. I'd go and watch that.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Pugs, can you make the rest of that opera, please?
- 31:42Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff, mate. What's on the plate tonight, Mogi?
- 31:46Speaker 5: I honestly couldn't tell you, man.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Oh, how was your dumpling salad, by the way?
- 31:50Speaker 5: The other night, look.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Frozen dumplings.
- 31:53Speaker 5: Frozen dumpling salad, yeah. It was really good.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Yeah, good.
- 31:57Speaker 4: No, because I know what he's doing here, because he
- 31:59Speaker 4: got in trouble for dissing it on the air, and
- 32:01Speaker 4: he's worried.
- 32:02Speaker 5: She wasn't happy.
- 32:03Speaker 4: He's worried Mrs. Mogi's listening.
- 32:05Speaker 5: Look, what a treat it is to have someone cook
- 32:09Speaker 5: for you. And you should always be grateful. 100%, mate.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I agree, man. I agree.
- 32:13Speaker 5: He said off-air it was garbage.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Yeah, he was.
- 32:16Speaker 5: If I said on-air it was garbage, didn't I? Oh, yeah, true.
- 32:19Speaker 5: But it wasn't. It was really good.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff.
- 32:24Speaker 4: I'm supposed to be making dinner tonight, a big old
- 32:27Speaker 4: butter chicken with my wife's amazing recipe.
- 32:31Speaker 5: We had butter chicken the other night, Keezy, can I say,
- 32:34Speaker 5: when we were all hungover. Great. And it was delish.
- 32:37Speaker 5: We ordered a double butter chicken. How good, man. Yeah.
- 32:40Speaker 5: It was really good. Now you're talking.
- 32:42Speaker 1: It was spot on. Now you're talking.
- 32:43Speaker 5: That's how hungover I was. I didn't want anything more
- 32:46Speaker 5: full on than a butter chicken.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Mild?
- 32:49Speaker 5: Medium. I think it may have been medium, and that's
- 32:51Speaker 5: just about right. Yeah.
- 32:52Speaker 1: A couple of them, too.
- 32:53Speaker 5: Yeah, get them in you.
- 32:54Speaker 4: Well, I'm supposed to be making it, but I'm like, oh,
- 32:56Speaker 4: by the time I get home and make it, blah, blah, blah,
- 32:58Speaker 4: I won't be eating until after eight. And so I've
- 33:00Speaker 4: said to my wife, how would you feel if I
- 33:02Speaker 4: pick something up? And then she said, you know what?
- 33:04Speaker 4: I was just thinking about how nice a pie would be.
- 33:07Speaker 4: And so I was like, I'll get a family pie
- 33:08Speaker 4: for us.
- 33:08Speaker 5: Right.
- 33:09Speaker 4: From the supermarket, I guess. I haven't bought a family
- 33:11Speaker 4: pie in bloody ages.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:12Speaker 4: But I was like, yeah, stuff it. Let's do it.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Yeah, nice.
- 33:15Speaker 5: Wow, what a time to be alive.
- 33:16Speaker 1: A pie, man.
- 33:17Speaker 5: Can you bring in the leftovers tomorrow?
- 33:19Speaker 4: No, there won't be any, man.
- 33:20Speaker 5: Come on, man. Of course there will. But you can't
- 33:21Speaker 5: eat a whole family pie. I mean, your wife will
- 33:24Speaker 5: only have, what, a quarter maybe?
- 33:25Speaker 4: She'll have an eighth of it.
- 33:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:27Speaker 4: And I'll be eating the rest of the pie.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Old seven-eighths Keezy.
- 33:29Speaker 4: Old seven-eighths Keezy. They used to call me that. Jase,
- 33:31Speaker 4: what are you having, man?
- 33:33Speaker 1: Aubergine pasta.
- 33:34Speaker 2: No.
- 33:37Speaker 3: It's actually, it does, you know, it does sound foul,
- 33:40Speaker 3: but we've had it before.
- 33:41Speaker 1: It's bloody beautiful.
- 33:43Speaker 5: What do you put in there? No, it sounds, it'll
- 33:45Speaker 5: be foul.
- 33:45Speaker 1: A bready sort of top and cheesy top.
- 33:48Speaker 5: Oh, now we're talking.
- 33:49Speaker 1: It's very good.
- 33:50Speaker 3: And it's the sort of pasta that's setting the scene
- 33:53Speaker 3: for me if you come dine with me on the
- 33:55Speaker 3: weekend because it's top quality.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Right, okay.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Is it like cracked pepper, you know, a bit of parmesan, whatever?
- 34:04Speaker 1: Yes, man. Yeah.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Hey, do you guys.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Keezy's just lost. You know what happens?
- 34:11Speaker 5: I'll be honest with you, man. I'm a bit worried
- 34:13Speaker 5: about you tomorrow morning. You seem exhausted. You seem gassed now.
- 34:16Speaker 4: No, what happened is you mentioned come dine with me
- 34:19Speaker 4: and reminded me that I have to cook two massive
- 34:21Speaker 4: meals tomorrow and the day after in preparation for Saturday.
- 34:23Speaker 5: I think Keezy's going to buckle under the pressure. I
- 34:25Speaker 5: do worry. I do worry.
- 34:27Speaker 4: Yeah, no, it'll be sweet as, man.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Just have a few beersies, just to relax the nerves.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Yeah, listen to this.
- 34:33Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 34:36Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 34:39Speaker 3: The Strokes there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 34:42Speaker 3: Wednesday evening.
- 34:43Speaker 4: Hey, guys, tomorrow, Friday and Monday, we are hosting breakfast
- 34:47Speaker 4: here on Radio Hodaki.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Yeah, boy.
- 34:49Speaker 4: And with that, I just want to make sure we
- 34:50Speaker 4: nail it, okay? So I'm calling a show meeting.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Show meeting!
- 34:54Speaker 5: Show meeting!
- 34:56Speaker 1: Show me the meeting! Show meeting is now in progress.
- 35:02Speaker 4: And of course, when you have a show meeting, you
- 35:03Speaker 4: need everyone from the show here. That's why Pugsan's here.
- 35:06Speaker 5: Ooh, it's Pugsan.
- 35:10Speaker 4: Evening, fellas.
- 35:11Speaker 5: G'day, Pugs. How are you?
- 35:13Speaker 1: Ah, good, man.
- 35:13Speaker 4: Thanks for having me. Are you ready for tomorrow, man?
- 35:16Speaker 1: Huh?
- 35:16Speaker 4: Are you ready for tomorrow?
- 35:17Speaker 5: Am I ready for breakfast? For breakfast.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:19Speaker 4: We're on brekkie tomorrow, man.
- 35:20Speaker 5: Do you know that?
- 35:20Speaker 4: Yeah! Okay, just because when you think about it, fellas,
- 35:25Speaker 4: we start at 4 p.m. today, go till 7, and
- 35:28Speaker 4: then literally less than 12 hours later, we are back
- 35:30Speaker 4: in here doing a four-hour brekkie show. And I just
- 35:32Speaker 4: want to make sure that, like, our content is shit hot.
- 35:36Speaker 4: You know, we come in here bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and we
- 35:39Speaker 4: don't just spend random breaks just sort of discussing admin
- 35:42Speaker 4: and shit like that. Like, we've actually got good stuff.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Right.
- 35:45Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 35:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 35:48Speaker 5: What have you got? Talk us through what you've got.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Let's go, Keezy.
- 35:51Speaker 5: Keezy.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Keezy.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Keezy.
- 35:54Speaker 4: All right. I've been workshopping this idea. It's called What's
- 35:59Speaker 4: for Breakfast?
- 36:00Speaker 3: What?
- 36:01Speaker 4: With me, Keezy.
- 36:01Speaker 5: That sounds good.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Yeah, lock it in, man.
- 36:03Speaker 5: Lock it in.
- 36:04Speaker 4: We'll do that.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Sweet.
- 36:05Speaker 5: All right, guys. Thank you.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Would you rather? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:10Speaker 4: We'll put people in the draw for would you rather.
- 36:12Speaker 5: It's a good shout, Jase.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's really good.
- 36:14Speaker 4: But the breakfast show, it's different because you need to
- 36:17Speaker 4: be topical. So it's first thing in the morning. We'll
- 36:20Speaker 4: get in.
- 36:20Speaker 5: What time? Who's going to have the first steamer? Yeah, yeah.
- 36:23Speaker 5: Because normally it's a morning sort of a thing.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Actually, could you make a bowel chat? No, don't.
- 36:30Speaker 4: We can't start.
- 36:31Speaker 5: Chat chat.
- 36:32Speaker 1: I'll be honest with you.
- 36:33Speaker 5: Recycle that old chat chat thing.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Well, yeah, you could do that. But the thing that
- 36:38Speaker 1: I find.
- 36:38Speaker 4: You can't start the morning with chat chat.
- 36:40Speaker 1: But listen.
- 36:42Speaker 3: The thing that I struggle with with breakfast is not
- 36:45Speaker 3: that it's early. It's that it affects my bowel movements
- 36:49Speaker 3: and when I go and can't go.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Cool. So bowel movement chat.
- 36:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Put that maybe third.
- 36:56Speaker 4: Bowel chat.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Bowel chat.
- 36:58Speaker 4: Or BM with the big shot.
- 36:59Speaker 5: And outside of that, I'm not really worried about torpedoing
- 37:03Speaker 5: the entire show.
- 37:04Speaker 1: No, no.
- 37:04Speaker 5: Because as we know, it's not our show.
- 37:07Speaker 1: No, well, that's right.
- 37:08Speaker 5: We go down there. Destroy their show.
- 37:10Speaker 4: Garbage.
- 37:10Speaker 5: People changing channels left, right and centre. Who are these clowns?
- 37:14Speaker 5: Never shall they return. Yes. Back to drive on Tuesday there.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Backbone, backbone, hashtag backbone.
- 37:21Speaker 4: The thing is, Moggy, I don't know if you know this,
- 37:23Speaker 4: but the Brekkie show is the pinnacle of our station.
- 37:26Speaker 5: Yes.
- 37:26Speaker 4: Like we are bottom feeders. You know, it's all about
- 37:29Speaker 4: the brekkie show.
- 37:30Speaker 5: Okay?
- 37:31Speaker 4: So if we're giving this opportunity, this is our chance.
- 37:34Speaker 4: You know, if we do a good job here, you
- 37:35Speaker 4: never know what we could move on to next. They
- 37:37Speaker 4: might hear it. Like the bosses might hear us and
- 37:39Speaker 4: be like, hey, do you guys want to do the
- 37:40Speaker 4: ZM Night Show? Because the spot's open.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 37:46Speaker 4: Because the spot's open. Okay.
- 37:48Speaker 5: See you tomorrow.
- 37:51Speaker 4: So close.
- 37:52Speaker 1: See you tomorrow.
- 37:55Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 37:58Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 38:01Speaker 5: Yes, indeed.
- 38:01Speaker 3: Rage against the machine there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show.
- 38:06Speaker 1: And that's appropriate. There's a lot of rage going on
- 38:08Speaker 1: at the moment. I should tell people, actually, in all fairness.
- 38:12Speaker 3: We've got a new system running at the moment, and
- 38:14Speaker 3: I'll put our Keezy's learning as we go, which is
- 38:18Speaker 3: not easy when you're doing live radio.
- 38:20Speaker 5: It's good. So it's what Keezy uses to operate all
- 38:24Speaker 5: the ads, the music, the timings of everything. It's called
- 38:26Speaker 5: Of The Down, isn't it, Keezy? And that's just started
- 38:29Speaker 5: kicking in today. Yeah, new system.
- 38:32Speaker 4: System Of The Down.
- 38:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:34Speaker 4: It's good stuff, fellas. The issue is, like, not only
- 38:37Speaker 4: am I here running all the admin trying to run
- 38:40Speaker 4: this new thing. Like, for example, I'm about to bang
- 38:43Speaker 4: on about Big Deck Energy.
- 38:44Speaker 5: Well, you shouldn't have to do that as well as
- 38:46Speaker 5: operate all that.
- 38:46Speaker 4: Well, you'd think that maybe one of you guys would
- 38:48Speaker 4: do it.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Well, I tell you what, I'm very happy to bang
- 38:53Speaker 1: on about Big Deck Energy.
- 38:54Speaker 5: I don't feel like it's banging on. I feel like
- 38:56Speaker 5: it's celebrating something quite special near and dear to my heart.
- 38:59Speaker 1: This is good stuff, fellas.
- 39:00Speaker 4: This is exactly what they want. We've teamed up with
- 39:03Speaker 4: Trade Tested.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Yes.
- 39:05Speaker 4: Once again. So the way Big Deck Energy works is
- 39:08Speaker 4: you go to tradetested.co.nz, put together a shopping list, up
- 39:12Speaker 4: to $ 2, 500. Up to two. And Jason's doing funny stuff
- 39:17Speaker 4: with his hair and trying to make me laugh and
- 39:19Speaker 4: interrupt the break, and I'm not going to let it happen.
- 39:21Speaker 5: Yeah, good on you, Keezy. What was I saying?
- 39:24Speaker 1: Up to $ 2, 500.
- 39:26Speaker 5: That's right.
- 39:26Speaker 4: So tradetester.co.nz. Put together a shopping list. Up to $ 2, 500.
- 39:30Speaker 4: Then go to hodaki.co.nz. Screenshot your shopping list.
- 39:33Speaker 5: Put it there.
- 39:33Speaker 4: A few people have started doing it, fellas.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Yes.
- 39:35Speaker 4: When I say a few, I mean hundreds.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Thousands.
- 39:38Speaker 4: So one person here has gone for a Savannah Modular
- 39:42Speaker 4: Outdoor Corner Suite.
- 39:44Speaker 5: Oh, how good.
- 39:45Speaker 4: For $ 1, 400 a night. Who doesn't love those?
- 39:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I love those.
- 39:48Speaker 5: Do you know why they call them a suite? Why's that?
- 39:50Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 39:51Speaker 1: It's just a weird word. Because they're sweet?
- 39:54Speaker 4: Nah, different suite. They've also added a Royal Gourmet Gas
- 39:58Speaker 4: Barbecue Five Burner.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Now you're talking.
- 40:01Speaker 5: Five burners?
- 40:03Speaker 4: That's right, Moby.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Yeah, good.
- 40:04Speaker 5: That's what you want.
- 40:05Speaker 4: And they've also got a Longhorn pizza oven gas fire.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Now you're talking. Just imagine this. Can you just calm down?
- 40:14Speaker 1: I'm just picturing people, right? They're sitting in their lounge, Mogi.
- 40:18Speaker 5: Yeah, they are.
- 40:18Speaker 1: And they're looking at their ratty arsehole dick.
- 40:22Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 40:22Speaker 1: They're going, you know what?
- 40:23Speaker 5: Shitter.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Summer's on its way. Let's zhut it up a bit.
- 40:27Speaker 5: And then you think to yourself, oh, hang on a minute.
- 40:29Speaker 5: I'm broke.
- 40:30Speaker 1: That's right.
- 40:31Speaker 5: I'm going to bugger this. I'm going to cheer myself
- 40:33Speaker 5: up by listening to a little bit of Radio Hauraki.
- 40:35Speaker 5: Next thing you know, an ad comes on. Trade tested.
- 40:37Speaker 5: Two and a half grand's worth of outdoor furniture. Get
- 40:40Speaker 5: it in you. But then you're thinking to yourself, well,
- 40:42Speaker 5: how do I do that? I mean, how do I enter?
- 40:45Speaker 4: And then old Keezy tells you the admin. While also learning.
- 40:48Speaker 1: The new system.
- 40:49Speaker 5: Old Edmund Boy wheels out the Edmund.
- 40:51Speaker 4: This person here has got some festoon lights.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Oh, I love those. I tell you what, I've got those.
- 40:58Speaker 1: I'm running those little candle lights at the moment. You know,
- 41:01Speaker 1: the little ones. What are they called? Tea lights?
- 41:03Speaker 5: Tea lights, yeah.
- 41:04Speaker 1: And my wife, much to her credit, because she hates
- 41:06Speaker 1: my candles, bought me little tea light holders, glass ones.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Shit, that's a good yarn.
- 41:12Speaker 1: Thanks, man.
- 41:14Speaker 5: But festoon lights are good. They really zhuzh up, especially
- 41:16Speaker 5: on a nice warm evening. They'll zhuzh. Yes. They're a
- 41:19Speaker 5: massive zhuzh.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Yes, totally.
- 41:20Speaker 4: This person speaking of zhuzhing, they've got a bamboo privacy screen.
- 41:24Speaker 4: A whole lot of it. A thousand bucks worth.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 41:27Speaker 5: What are they up to? That's sort of like a sicko.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that's more sort of dedusion.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Well, with the festoon lights and the privacy screen.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. What's going on there?
- 41:36Speaker 5: Hello. Hello.
- 41:39Speaker 4: If you want to do it, head to tradetested.co.nz, put
- 41:42Speaker 4: together a shopping list, then head to hodaki.co.nz and submit
- 41:45Speaker 4: it there. Make your debt great again with Trade Tested.
- 41:49Speaker 5: Good stuff.
- 41:50Speaker 4: Queens of the Stone Age?
- 41:51Speaker 5: Yes.
- 41:52Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 41:55Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 41:58Speaker 3: The Pixies there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 42:01Speaker 3: Wednesday evening.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Fellas, let's give out some advice.
- 42:12Speaker 5: At gmail.com, get in touch with the fellas.
- 42:17Speaker 4: That's right, me, Paddy Nip, 69 at gmail.com. A real
- 42:20Speaker 4: email address if you ever need advice on anything. Genuine advice.
- 42:23Speaker 4: Get in touch, you can get yourself a $ 50 Reburger voucher.
- 42:26Speaker 4: And I must reiterate, Reburger is always a delicious option, fellas.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Yes.
- 42:31Speaker 4: The reason I say that is because this question is
- 42:33Speaker 4: food related.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Why 69 in the email address?
- 42:36Speaker 4: Ah, the audience chose it.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Oh, okay. I don't. You don't know why? No, I
- 42:40Speaker 1: don't get it. That's cool. It's all G.
- 42:42Speaker 4: G'day there, fellas. Anonymous here. I'm coming to the big
- 42:46Speaker 4: smoke of Auckland from down south, and I would love
- 42:49Speaker 4: some hot pot advice, especially from Honka J. I've never
- 42:54Speaker 4: had a hot pot, and listening to the fellas, I've
- 42:57Speaker 4: found myself wanting to experience a hot pot. I do
- 43:00Speaker 4: not want a three times Keezy Midnight Steamer situation, however,
- 43:04Speaker 4: just an introduction. Cheers.
- 43:07Speaker 1: It's always fun. I love it when people come up
- 43:08Speaker 1: from up south.
- 43:09Speaker 5: From up south, yeah.
- 43:10Speaker 1: From down south.
- 43:11Speaker 4: Oh, you mean up north.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Down north. To the big smoke and the awe in
- 43:15Speaker 1: their eyes.
- 43:16Speaker 5: I know.
- 43:17Speaker 1: And they go.
- 43:17Speaker 5: All the possibilities.
- 43:18Speaker 1: It's like two-story buildings.
- 43:20Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly.
- 43:21Speaker 1: And there's, like, cars. Yeah. And trains.
- 43:26Speaker 5: Anyone's lining up to get their photo with the Sky Tower,
- 43:29Speaker 5: et cetera.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Et cetera. Yeah, yeah.
- 43:31Speaker 4: Or Cully Tartan.
- 43:32Speaker 5: Cully Tartan. The amount of farmers, you know, they've got
- 43:35Speaker 5: that viewing platform up there.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Yes, at the Sky City.
- 43:38Speaker 5: At the top of the Sky City. The amount of
- 43:39Speaker 5: farmers I've seen crawling around on their hands and knees
- 43:41Speaker 5: because they're terrified they're going to fall off the Sky Tower.
- 43:44Speaker 5: I wish I had a dollar for every time.
- 43:46Speaker 3: I remember once a mate came up from down south
- 43:50Speaker 3: and he'd never been to the big smoke and stuff.
- 43:53Speaker 3: And I took him to Mission Bay. He'd never seen
- 43:55Speaker 3: the water before.
- 43:56Speaker 1: No.
- 43:57Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 43:57Speaker 3: And he was just, he was almost having a panic
- 44:00Speaker 3: attack because he was so overwhelmed.
- 44:03Speaker 1: By the beauty of the ocean. All he's seen before
- 44:06Speaker 1: was a trough.
- 44:07Speaker 5: Yes.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 44:08Speaker 4: So he's like, so let me get this straight. This
- 44:10Speaker 4: is like a really big trough.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, no, it's just a trough you have in
- 44:13Speaker 1: the paddock there.
- 44:14Speaker 5: No, no, no. He thought.
- 44:17Speaker 1: He thought the ocean was a trough.
- 44:19Speaker 5: Far out.
- 44:19Speaker 4: Was he like, man, how big's the cow that drinks
- 44:21Speaker 4: out of this?
- 44:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 44:23Speaker 4: Anyway, hot pot advice for a first timer.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Just get in there and do it.
- 44:28Speaker 4: But hang on.
- 44:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:29Speaker 4: Jase, can you explain what is in a hot pot?
- 44:32Speaker 1: Whatever you want.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Because to be honest, no, but I went and had
- 44:35Speaker 4: my first one.
- 44:36Speaker 5: You say that with knowledge, Jase. You're saying whatever you want,
- 44:38Speaker 5: knowing all the things that there are. I'd never heard
- 44:40Speaker 5: of a hot pot until about a year ago.
- 44:42Speaker 4: Neither had I. And when I went and had it,
- 44:43Speaker 4: I was like, oh, okay, so this is what it is.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Yeah. So what is it?
- 44:47Speaker 3: It's just literally two walls of ingredients of all sorts
- 44:52Speaker 3: of different stuff. Vegetables, meats, seafood, whatever tickles your fancy.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Eggs, tofu. And you go along with a bowl.
- 45:01Speaker 3: You chuck in what tickles your fancy.
- 45:03Speaker 5: Yes.
- 45:04Speaker 4: And don't be put off by the weird stuff.
- 45:05Speaker 3: No.
- 45:06Speaker 4: Because there is weird stuff.
- 45:07Speaker 3: There is some weird stuff, but that's all good. You
- 45:09Speaker 3: take it to the counter and they have a series
- 45:11Speaker 3: of broths that you can.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Get it cooked in. Or you can have it dry
- 45:15Speaker 1: and not have it cooked in a broth.
- 45:17Speaker 4: But ask for the house broth.
- 45:18Speaker 1: The house broth, depending on your spice level, one, two,
- 45:22Speaker 1: or three, or just one if you don't like it
- 45:25Speaker 1: too spicy.
- 45:25Speaker 5: So one, two, or three?
- 45:27Speaker 3: One, two, or three. They go and cook it for you.
- 45:28Speaker 3: It takes about five, ten minutes. Well, not even that, really.
- 45:31Speaker 1: And then they go, ding, ding, ding, here's your thing,
- 45:34Speaker 1: and then you.
- 45:34Speaker 5: Go and eat it.
- 45:35Speaker 4: See, this is some advice, though, that I would have
- 45:37Speaker 4: liked on my first time, Jase, is go and get
- 45:40Speaker 4: yourself some chopsticks and a spoon while you're waiting for it.
- 45:42Speaker 4: Set it all up. Grab a jug of water and
- 45:45Speaker 4: a cup because you're going to need it. And just
- 45:46Speaker 4: set up yourself a nice little base and remove any
- 45:48Speaker 4: warm clothing.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Right.
- 45:50Speaker 4: Because it's going to be hot.
- 45:51Speaker 3: And they have a lot of condiments too, your corianders,
- 45:53Speaker 3: your garlic.
- 45:55Speaker 4: To be honest, I haven't bothered with any of that.
- 45:57Speaker 5: Funny with the garlic, isn't it? You just put clumps
- 45:59Speaker 5: of minced garlic into stuff. I've never really quite got that. No,
- 46:02Speaker 5: chilli oil's not what you need. I love garlic, but
- 46:04Speaker 5: not just like a teaspoon of raw garlic.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Yeah, but once you chuck it in there, because it's
- 46:09Speaker 3: bloody hot, it just all cooks up.
- 46:11Speaker 4: And I'd say, farmer, coming up to the big smoke,
- 46:15Speaker 4: probably go mild, because it's going to be hotter than
- 46:18Speaker 4: your average spicy level anyway, I'd say. And noodles, put
- 46:21Speaker 4: noodles in there.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Look, it's not meat and three veg. No. You know
- 46:24Speaker 1: what I mean? With your boiled spuds and your mutton
- 46:27Speaker 1: and your....
- 46:29Speaker 5: He cooked a bejesus out of it.
- 46:31Speaker 4: And if you want to know where to go, message
- 46:33Speaker 4: the Hodaki Big Show Instagram or me directly and I'll
- 46:36Speaker 4: tell you the name of the hot pot restaurant in
- 46:37Speaker 4: downtown Auckland.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Good on you, mate.
- 46:39Speaker 4: But I highly recommend Reburger.
- 46:41Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 46:44Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big
- 46:56Speaker 1: show done.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Dull and dusted for your Wednesday evening.
- 47:02Speaker 4: Horty J's giving himself an emo fringe. He thinks it's
- 47:05Speaker 4: really neat.
- 47:06Speaker 5: He does, doesn't he?
- 47:07Speaker 4: He's in a silly mood.
- 47:09Speaker 1: What's our podcast called again, fellas?
- 47:11Speaker 5: This is our chipper. He is at six o'clock in
- 47:14Speaker 5: the morning. Yeah, exactly.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Well, no, I think it's because I'm realising that's what's
- 47:18Speaker 1: happening tomorrow and I've lost my mind slightly.
- 47:21Speaker 5: The disclaimer is what it's called. Yes.
- 47:23Speaker 1: What's the clip today, Keezy?
- 47:24Speaker 4: Today's clip is called Escape and the podcast comes out
- 47:28Speaker 4: at 7.30 tonight.
- 47:31Speaker 1: She'd be fuming if she heard this.
- 47:33Speaker 4: So she slowly makes her way down and out of
- 47:35Speaker 4: the bed. No, not out of the bed.
- 47:38Speaker 5: She's got a bag packed by the door. And I'm like,
- 47:41Speaker 5: I'll wake up at like.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Three in the morning and I'll put my, oh, oh,
- 47:44Speaker 3: she's not. And she's way down the door. And I'll go, hey, hey.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Where are you going?
- 47:50Speaker 3: There was a bit of sleep chat today, wasn't it, fellas?
- 47:55Speaker 3: How we all sort of like to nestle in.
- 47:57Speaker 4: Well, it was just you, really, wasn't it?
- 47:58Speaker 1: Don't you guys like to nestle in?
- 48:00Speaker 5: I do, but I tire of it quite quickly.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Same.
- 48:03Speaker 5: Because my wife's body heat is really high. It's too hot.
- 48:07Speaker 5: I can't deal with it. So I like the idea
- 48:10Speaker 5: of it, and then I roll away.
- 48:11Speaker 4: So you're saying your wife's too hot for you?
- 48:13Speaker 5: No. No, I would never say that, Keezy. I mean,
- 48:16Speaker 5: I know a lot of people are thinking it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 48:19Speaker 1: My wife finds the same with me. I run a
- 48:22Speaker 1: high temperature in bed there, Moggy. Do you? Yes, I do.
- 48:25Speaker 4: So you're saying you're too hot for your wife?
- 48:28Speaker 1: Yes.
- 48:30Speaker 3: Your plans for the evening, please, given that you've got
- 48:33Speaker 3: breakfast in the morning.
- 48:34Speaker 5: It's going to be go home, have a delicious dinner,
- 48:38Speaker 5: and I might read a book. I don't know, man.
- 48:41Speaker 5: I feel like I've got to watch something because I
- 48:43Speaker 5: don't feel like I've been contributing to what's on the
- 48:45Speaker 5: TV with me, Mogi, lately. Watch a doco or something.
- 48:47Speaker 5: It's just been the same old thing. So I'll see
- 48:50Speaker 5: what there is there. Suffice to say, Jase, the only
- 48:53Speaker 5: thing on my mind is getting a great night's rest
- 48:55Speaker 5: in preparation for tomorrow morning's show.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Yeah, good on you, mate.
- 48:58Speaker 4: We should remind, if you haven't heard, big show on
- 49:00Speaker 4: Brekkie tomorrow, Friday, Monday as well.
- 49:03Speaker 5: Friday, Monday.
- 49:05Speaker 1: What about you, Keezy? What are your plans?
- 49:07Speaker 4: I'm going to go home, pick up a family pie,
- 49:09Speaker 4: because it's my turn to cook.
- 49:11Speaker 5: I hope you don't get some kind of a weird
- 49:13Speaker 5: sort of food poisoning or something. Frozen pie when you
- 49:17Speaker 5: chuck that in the oven, not good?
- 49:19Speaker 4: No, it won't be frozen.
- 49:20Speaker 5: Oh, good. You can get once in the cooler.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Yeah, cool. There's nothing worse than digging into a family
- 49:26Speaker 1: pie and right in the middle it's freezing cold. Yeah,
- 49:29Speaker 1: that's right.
- 49:29Speaker 4: So I'll try and avoid that, fellas.
- 49:30Speaker 5: Good.
- 49:31Speaker 4: And get an early night tonight. I want to be
- 49:34Speaker 4: in bed 9pm at the latest.
- 49:36Speaker 5: Yep.
- 49:37Speaker 4: You know, and it still won't be enough sleep. It's
- 49:39Speaker 4: still not eight hours, yeah. Hey, Jase, what are you doing?
- 49:42Speaker 5: Actually, I was just going to say, Kiersey, what time
- 49:43Speaker 5: are you going to get up? But why don't we
- 49:45Speaker 5: save that for tomorrow morning? Because that's good content. People
- 49:47Speaker 5: love it. What are you doing tonight, Jase? Actually, why
- 49:51Speaker 5: don't you save it and tell us what you get
- 49:53Speaker 5: up to tonight, tomorrow morning.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Now you're talking.
- 49:55Speaker 4: Good idea.
- 49:56Speaker 1: See you then.
