At the opening of Matthew Chapter 8 Jesus has just concluded his teaching series known as the Sermon on The Mount and great multitude followed Him. Matt.8: 18-19, "And when Jesus saw the multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side." Jesus discerned something in the crowd that was not right. He observed that the crowd desired to follow Him based solely upon the miracles, but not on a desire to be changed. They were excited about what Jesus could do for them, but they did not have a heart to become "like Jesus."
