- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello, Baby
- 0:13Speaker 1: Blue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cats. My name is
- 0:17Speaker 1: Michael Benning on this Monday, August tenth. I hope everybody
- 0:21Speaker 1: had a great weekend as I did, and I as
- 0:24Speaker 1: we heard a little couple of minutes ago, Justin did
- 0:26Speaker 1: as well. But do you want to give us call
- 0:28Speaker 1: five O two three four fourteen fifty. You want to
- 0:30Speaker 1: text us on the Whiskey Thief text line, you can
- 0:33Speaker 1: do that five O two four one four fourteen fifteen.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Tweet me at Just the Cat Radio. So, good morning, Justin.
- 0:38Speaker 1: How are you?
- 0:39Speaker 2: Good morning, Michael. I'm doing well. How I'm doing great?
- 0:42Speaker 2: Thank you very much.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I I just as I'm going on there, I'm looking
- 0:45Speaker 1: at social media and all of a sudden it comes
- 0:49Speaker 1: up with reimagine this is tattoo art and shows me
- 0:53Speaker 1: a picture of something I posted on Facebook and it's
- 1:00Speaker 1: a horse, and I'm like, I'm not reimagining anything like
- 1:05Speaker 1: that is tattoo art on me. I thought that was
- 1:08Speaker 1: kind of crazy. So Facebook is now trying to advertise
- 1:13Speaker 1: for and promote tattooing. I guess really, I haven't seen
- 1:17Speaker 1: anything about it. Has that become more and more popular
- 1:19Speaker 1: as times gone by. It seems like when I was
- 1:22Speaker 1: a kid, tattoos were not that prevalent. It seems like
- 1:25Speaker 1: today they're just they're just literally everywhere.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it feels like a good majority of people have them, A.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Good majority of people. I would really I don't know
- 1:37Speaker 1: what percentage you think it would be. I would love that.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I literally do not have any idea. I would probably
- 1:44Speaker 1: say of the Americans, just America, h just Americans today,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I would say probably thirty five percent people have a tattoo.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I'd go higher. Would you really, what percentage of people
- 1:58Speaker 1: do you think have tattoos? I bet closer to fifty fifty.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I bet some really. Okay, wow, man, that's amazing. Now
- 2:08Speaker 1: half the people out there have a tattoo.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Now you obviously have those people that have enough tattoos
- 2:12Speaker 2: for everybody.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right about that. I saw a guy yesterday
- 2:16Speaker 1: literally from the top of his shoulder all the way
- 2:18Speaker 1: down his arm, and I don't know why it is.
- 2:21Speaker 1: To me, it's just like, Ooh, that's got to be uncomfortable.
- 2:23Speaker 1: It's like, no, he didn't feel a thing, does he? No,
- 2:27Speaker 1: it's not anymore. It just feels like it just like you.
- 2:31Speaker 1: For some reason, my mind tells me he feels those
- 2:33Speaker 1: tattoos just like with you. You have one that's special
- 2:37Speaker 1: to you. Did it hurt though, No, not a bit,
- 2:41Speaker 1: not a bit. But you can never get it taken off. Yeah,
- 2:45Speaker 1: you can get it removed, but doesn't it show through though?
- 2:48Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Really you can get it completely. Yeah, Okay, there was
- 2:52Speaker 2: a I'm trying to think who that was. There was
- 2:54Speaker 2: an artist, Pete Davidson. I believe it was. He was
- 2:57Speaker 2: covered in tats and he got I don't know if
- 3:00Speaker 2: he got him all taken off or a good majority
- 3:02Speaker 2: of him. But yeah, he's he's basically fresh skin again.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Pete who Davidson?
- 3:07Speaker 1: Who is he? Oh?
- 3:08Speaker 2: I knew you're gonna ask me that. Let me get
- 3:10Speaker 2: a lead singer of what band he was? Oh he's
- 3:13Speaker 2: a singer. Oh okay, Well like Adam Levine a Maroon five.
- 3:18Speaker 2: He's got him everywhere post Malone. By the way, I
- 3:23Speaker 2: was talking to my son about post Malone this weekend. Uh,
- 3:27Speaker 2: And evidently he's getting into country now he's been in
- 3:31Speaker 2: the country.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Oh he has Okay, I didn't know that. Yeah, he's
- 3:34Speaker 1: actually really good. He's got it. He's not just got
- 3:37Speaker 1: it all over his arms and chess, he's got it
- 3:39Speaker 1: on his face too. Why do you get it on
- 3:42Speaker 1: your face?
- 3:43Speaker 2: Well, it's same thing with Jelly Roll. You've ever seen him,
- 3:46Speaker 2: but he I don't know him. Jelly Roll came out
- 3:48Speaker 2: and said that he regrets ninety seven percent of the tats,
- 3:51Speaker 2: that he has.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Seven percent of them for that. See, that would be
- 3:55Speaker 1: my next question. Once people start getting tattoos, how many
- 3:58Speaker 1: what percentage of them are credit? I don't know. I
- 4:02Speaker 1: bet I bet majority of him don't. Yeah, less than
- 4:05Speaker 1: you think so. Yeah.
- 4:06Speaker 2: By the way, Pete Davidson was never a singer. I
- 4:08Speaker 2: don't know what I was thinking. Who is he he was?
- 4:11Speaker 2: He was an S and L actor?
- 4:12Speaker 1: Oh, that comedian, I know who he is. Yeah, he's
- 4:15Speaker 1: not funny to me. He was in that movie about
- 4:20Speaker 1: Motley Crue. Wasn't it called The Dirt or something like that?
- 4:24Speaker 1: And he was kind of a goofy actor in the movie.
- 4:27Speaker 1: But I kind of even though that was I would
- 4:30Speaker 1: consider that movie about Motley Crue a B rated movie.
- 4:34Speaker 1: It was pretty good. He wasn't that. Yeah? Uh? And
- 4:38Speaker 1: then all right, all this is what I this is
- 4:42Speaker 1: how my mind's going today. Are there any rock movies
- 4:46Speaker 1: that you liked? But he mean Rhapsody, Ah, that's a
- 4:49Speaker 1: great one. Could watch it over and over. The Whitney
- 4:54Speaker 1: Houston one was awesome. I didn't see that one. Oh
- 4:56Speaker 1: you really see that. There was one that had Mark
- 5:01Speaker 1: Wahlberg called The Rocker fictional movie because the one you're
- 5:07Speaker 1: talking about, those are all about roll one was Freddie
- 5:11Speaker 1: Mercury and which was great. What was the other one
- 5:13Speaker 1: you just mentioned, Oh, the Whitney Houston, which was true?
- 5:16Speaker 1: The Rocker was fictional with Mark Waller, don't it was? No, no, no, no,
- 5:21Speaker 1: don't say that. It was actually a real and it
- 5:25Speaker 1: had Jennifer Anderson as his girlfriend. It was really That's
- 5:28Speaker 1: what I thought. As soon as I said that name,
- 5:31Speaker 1: I thought, yeah, you'd be in it's a really good movie.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And of course it wasn't really him singing the music,
- 5:37Speaker 1: but I mean it was. I kind of liked The Rocker.
- 5:40Speaker 1: But anyway, what a weird way to start this show today.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But uh, I never think, well, I know, and I'm sorry,
- 5:47Speaker 1: but but I'm honestly I'm not sorry. All Right, I
- 5:50Speaker 1: do want to talk about a good friend about it.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I'll start talking about first thing today because I don't
- 5:54Speaker 1: want to forget about it. I told you to make
- 5:56Speaker 1: a note. I wouldn't have had and made a note
- 5:58Speaker 1: as well. So I've got a really good boat buddy, Yes,
- 6:01Speaker 1: my boat buddy that works on my boats. A lot
- 6:04Speaker 1: of people know who I'm talking about. His name's Randy Powell,
- 6:09Speaker 1: and I love Randy. I've known Randy better part of
- 6:12Speaker 1: thirty five, almost forty years. No, my goodness, I've known
- 6:16Speaker 1: Randy forty years and big old redneck from South end
- 6:20Speaker 1: of Louisville, and he lives out close to where I live.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Very successful, but I just he has probably the biggest
- 6:30Speaker 1: heart out there. Randy works on my boat or his
- 6:35Speaker 1: place does, and so I just kind of told him, Hey, Randy,
- 6:38Speaker 1: I'm still having these problems with my boat, and he said,
- 6:40Speaker 1: no problem, I'll fix it. He goes, I can't do
- 6:42Speaker 1: it right now, because here's what I'm doing. Then he
- 6:46Speaker 1: sends me a picture. He goes, what do you think
- 6:49Speaker 1: of my new boat? It's a picture of a pontoon
- 6:54Speaker 1: boat that has a helicopter on top of it mounted.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Excuse me, Hey, you're exactly right. He goes, I'm gonna
- 7:02Speaker 1: make the helicopter run so that the pontoon boat goes.
- 7:07Speaker 1: So he's not gonna take the helicopter up in the air.
- 7:10Speaker 1: He has it fixated to the pontoon, so the pontoon
- 7:13Speaker 1: moves by the helicopter. Are you understanding me correctly.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I'm I'm picturing him firing this helicopter up. Yes, and
- 7:25Speaker 2: it just lifting the boat. That's what I thought. But no,
- 7:30Speaker 2: he says it's gonna actually make the pontoon go. Oh,
- 7:35Speaker 2: he's not gonna fit under any bridges. I hope he
- 7:37Speaker 2: knows that. Why do you say that, wouldn't that be
- 7:41Speaker 2: really tall? I mean, pontoons are pretty tall as it
- 7:43Speaker 2: is already anyways, and then throwing a helicopter on top.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I'm sending you a picture right now of him. Yeah,
- 7:49Speaker 1: I've got to see. Yeah, it's it's the curse. First
- 7:53Speaker 1: thing I said is I gotta see a video of
- 7:56Speaker 1: this working, and he promised me he's gonna send me
- 8:01Speaker 1: a video. I have yet to see it, but that's
- 8:04Speaker 1: the next thing. I want to see. How crazy and
- 8:07Speaker 1: this is Randy for.
- 8:08Speaker 2: You, So he's got the hellic. Let me explain this
- 8:10Speaker 2: to the listener. So what I thought I did but
- 8:12Speaker 2: evidently because I was picturing like a double decker pontoon
- 8:15Speaker 2: and this helicopter just sitting on top.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:18Speaker 2: But so he's got seating in the back still like
- 8:20Speaker 2: the pontoon seating What do you think twenty footer here? Yeah,
- 8:24Speaker 2: at least four maybe. Yeah, you've got the seats in
- 8:27Speaker 2: the back, and then you've got just this helicopter attached
- 8:30Speaker 2: to the front where the other seats would typically. Yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 2: that is wild. How does he have to get in
- 8:36Speaker 2: that helicopter to drive? Yes, absolutely, that is wild.
- 8:41Speaker 1: You like that? Why? Why? What? That would be my
- 8:44Speaker 1: first question? And why because he can That's the only
- 8:49Speaker 1: thinking I can't answer you. I think it's the funniest
- 8:53Speaker 1: thing ever. Here. I'll send you that's a picture of
- 8:55Speaker 1: Randy right there, the one on the left with the
- 8:58Speaker 1: bald head. Randy is one the funniest guys you ever see,
- 9:01Speaker 1: you'll ever meet in your life. And this is his idea.
- 9:05Speaker 1: And uh, well it looks like that picture you just said.
- 9:07Speaker 1: He's got it on the water. Yeah. Oh, he's he
- 9:11Speaker 1: headed in the water running it this weekend. I can't
- 9:17Speaker 1: imagine taking what where on earth do you come up
- 9:22Speaker 1: with an ideas like? Well, it doesn't have a motor,
- 9:24Speaker 1: So what do I do. I take my helicopter and
- 9:27Speaker 1: I mount it on my pontoon and I'm gonna run
- 9:30Speaker 1: it to me. That's one of the craziest inventions I've
- 9:32Speaker 1: ever seen in my life.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I was at the lake yesterday, and if this thing
- 9:37Speaker 2: came cursing up into the coved we were chilling at,
- 9:39Speaker 2: I would have been I would have thought I was tripping,
- 9:42Speaker 2: Like what am I seeing?
- 9:45Speaker 1: Wild? It's mounting on front, So how are you going
- 9:48Speaker 1: to get enough momentum from the front? You think it
- 9:50Speaker 1: would need to be in the back of the boat,
- 9:53Speaker 1: so you'd have to take all the seating out and
- 9:54Speaker 1: move the seating towards the front because the weight alone
- 9:58Speaker 1: is going to make it go sink down and to
- 10:00Speaker 1: the water. So is the helicopter propeller just driving this
- 10:04Speaker 1: whole thing? Yes, that's what he said. How how does
- 10:07Speaker 1: speed control work with that? All? You're asking the wrong guy?
- 10:12Speaker 1: But man, you mean we got to have him on? Well,
- 10:14Speaker 1: we gotta have Randy on the show. This is fascinating.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I have so many questions. Oh well, we all have
- 10:22Speaker 1: so many questions exactly, But I thought i'd share that
- 10:25Speaker 1: with you, and as soon as as soon as you
- 10:27Speaker 1: asked me how my weekend was, that's what came to mind,
- 10:29Speaker 1: was that right there, my buddy ran you didn't go
- 10:32Speaker 1: out in the river. Well, I tried to. My boat
- 10:35Speaker 1: just didn't work, unfortunately. Should have joined him in the helicopter. No,
- 10:38Speaker 1: I am not doing that. Pontoon copter, No, no, no, no.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Does he have a cool name for it? At least
- 10:44Speaker 1: I have no that would be the That's that's what
- 10:46Speaker 1: we need to come up with.
- 10:48Speaker 2: What would you name that boat? I'm going to leave
- 10:52Speaker 2: that up to the text lin. I think I don't
- 10:54Speaker 2: have anything coming to mind.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Helopoon, helopoon, huh how about that? Should it be hell apoon?
- 11:01Speaker 1: I like that name right there. I think that's what
- 11:03Speaker 1: it should be.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I like that too, yeah, or helotoon, I don't know it.
- 11:11Speaker 2: The flying tune, uh, pond copter, I mean, I mean,
- 11:16Speaker 2: I mean, I could go on with all kinds of
- 11:18Speaker 2: ridiculous names.
- 11:20Speaker 1: People are gonna go nuts with us one. I gotta
- 11:23Speaker 1: believe people are going to come a pond copter. I mean, uh,
- 11:28Speaker 1: I still like helopoon. I think the first one I
- 11:31Speaker 1: came up. Yeah, I love that one because nobody who's
- 11:35Speaker 1: going to know what that? Hey, what's your famous invention?
- 11:38Speaker 1: It's a hellapoon. Imagine it takes off and that's like
- 11:43Speaker 1: a popular boat moving forward. Yeah, well, I mean it
- 11:47Speaker 1: could be. I mean it could take over the whole
- 11:49Speaker 1: drone scene. You know, all these people are are are
- 11:51Speaker 1: coming up with these ideas. Yeah, but where am I
- 11:53Speaker 1: going to land in the water? Well, I got the halopoon.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I just I still don't really understand how it's not
- 11:59Speaker 2: pulling the boat up. What I would think if a
- 12:03Speaker 2: helicopter is designed to raise up in the air and
- 12:06Speaker 2: you fire this thing up, why is it not lifting
- 12:09Speaker 2: the whole boat?
- 12:09Speaker 1: I don't get it. I don't know. I don't know.
- 12:12Speaker 1: But I I saw this and I'm like, Okay, this
- 12:15Speaker 1: is awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing the video of
- 12:18Speaker 1: how this is going to work. I just don't see
- 12:20Speaker 1: how it's going to work. I don't think it's going
- 12:22Speaker 1: to be successful. So uh and I hope the next
- 12:27Speaker 1: few weeks that I don't say something like rest in peace,
- 12:29Speaker 1: Randy Powell, Okay, we can't have that now, so we
- 12:33Speaker 1: just but I have to have proof that this thing works.
- 12:38Speaker 1: You want to go with him? Yeah. Yeah, there's no
- 12:40Speaker 1: way I'm going with him.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I mean, imagine how much money he could make he
- 12:44Speaker 2: could charge charge people for rides in this thing. I'll
- 12:47Speaker 2: do it because it's something cool and different, something you've
- 12:51Speaker 2: never seen.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I don't know. Is the ghost guard going to stop this.
- 12:55Speaker 1: We can't have helicopters driving up on the boat.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Imagine DNR role up to him. Yes, sir, what in
- 13:01Speaker 2: the hell did you do here?
- 13:03Speaker 1: D n R? Yeah, Department Natural Resource? Oh okay, all right, yeah,
- 13:09Speaker 1: those D and R to me is do not resuscitate.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Those are the people that drive around and try to
- 13:13Speaker 1: get you. I understand. But when I hear DNR, it's
- 13:15Speaker 1: do not resuscitate. Yeah, that means that you're there to die. So, yeah,
- 13:20Speaker 1: you are. Over the weekend, I listen, I enjoyed. Did
- 13:24Speaker 1: you listen to any of the NFL Hall of Fame speeches?
- 13:27Speaker 2: I saw some clips from I guess it was Divinitary one,
- 13:32Speaker 2: but I didn't hear anybody else know.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I had to as soon as I saw the clip,
- 13:37Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, I got to go listen to this.
- 13:40Speaker 1: And and there there were certain parts of the speech
- 13:44Speaker 1: I had to make notes because I thought a lot
- 13:48Speaker 1: of people are really criticizing him that it was a
- 13:51Speaker 1: horrible speech. I thought it was funny. Listen, when you're
- 13:55Speaker 1: doing something like this, I think you'd be serious, but
- 13:59Speaker 1: at the same time, you got to be a little funny,
- 14:00Speaker 1: because you know, that's how they lived. They didn't live
- 14:03Speaker 1: a very serious life when they were playing football the
- 14:06Speaker 1: entire time. Of course, they were serious at certain moments,
- 14:09Speaker 1: but then there are other times with locker room humor.
- 14:12Speaker 1: And I thought he gave he would give a little
- 14:16Speaker 1: bit of humor and then he'd be very serious, like
- 14:18Speaker 1: for instance, when he talked about Peyton Manning, he said,
- 14:22Speaker 1: I'd like to thank Peyton Manning for offering his foe
- 14:26Speaker 1: forehead as a oh what's it called the screen? That's
- 14:32Speaker 1: tell a prompter screen? And I thought that was hilarious.
- 14:37Speaker 1: And but then right after he said it, what a
- 14:41Speaker 1: perfect leader he was, what a great person he was,
- 14:44Speaker 1: and just complimented him up and down, and I like that.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I thought, you know, I mean, you have to do
- 14:51Speaker 2: that right because without Peyton Venitarry's not getting nearly as
- 14:54Speaker 2: many opportunities.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Is he. Yeah, he goes after Bill Belichick. He said
- 14:58Speaker 1: he's sorry he's not here. But he couldn't because he
- 15:00Speaker 1: was judging his girlfriend's cheerleading competition. I thought that was uh.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Then he goes after uh this one. I thought this
- 15:13Speaker 1: was funny, he says. He says, calls uh Drew Bledsoe
- 15:18Speaker 1: the greatest quarterback to ever play for the Patriots in history,
- 15:23Speaker 1: calling out Tom Brady, which I thought was awesome. No,
- 15:26Speaker 1: he said, but I'm glad he's not, because I thought
- 15:28Speaker 1: he might come up here at like Will Smith and
- 15:31Speaker 1: do a Will Smith on me. Uh. That's pretty good
- 15:35Speaker 1: all it was. And then when when he went after uh,
- 15:40Speaker 1: Pat McAfee, Yeah, what that's the clip I saw? What
- 15:44Speaker 1: did he say that who enjoyed holding his balls almost
- 15:47Speaker 1: as much as his wife? I thought that was awesome.
- 15:53Speaker 1: And then they go from McAfee over to his wife
- 15:56Speaker 1: and she's shaking her head laughing. I thought that was funny.
- 16:00Speaker 1: He said, no, no, no, keep it clean. You're taking
- 16:03Speaker 1: it dirty now because she would hold my balls during
- 16:07Speaker 1: we had to have somebody to hold my balls during
- 16:09Speaker 1: off season. So I thought that was awesome. And I
- 16:13Speaker 1: thought I thought Adam the Minitary really killed it with
- 16:16Speaker 1: a Hall of Fame speech.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Seems like it. He didn't don't make it too serious.
- 16:20Speaker 2: I agree with that.
- 16:21Speaker 1: No, no, you can't. And you know there's some guys
- 16:25Speaker 1: that get up there and get emotional. I get it.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I'm one of those kind of guys that get emotional
- 16:30Speaker 1: too with something like that. And this is a great honor,
- 16:34Speaker 1: I mean it really is. And uh, you don't see
- 16:37Speaker 1: many placekickers get into the NFL Hall of Fame, kind
- 16:40Speaker 1: of like you don't see a lot of cow bell solos. Well,
- 16:44Speaker 1: you don't see a lot of placekickers in the Hall
- 16:46Speaker 1: of Fame. So I thought it was definitely deserved. Of course,
- 16:49Speaker 1: he played for the Patriots, and I think he's going
- 16:53Speaker 1: to be more remembered for his time with the Colts,
- 16:55Speaker 1: don't you think in my mind? Yeah, yeah, well and
- 16:59Speaker 1: it might be because close proximity we are in Annapolis.
- 17:02Speaker 1: So but I thought that was awesome. But yeah, that
- 17:05Speaker 1: was I didn't watch him live, but I would go
- 17:08Speaker 1: back and watch him. As soon as I saw a
- 17:10Speaker 1: good clip up, I'm like, Okay, this is awesome. I
- 17:12Speaker 1: gotta go back.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I didn't see anything from Drew Brees or who's the
- 17:16Speaker 2: other guy that got in.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I can't remember at this juncture. You use that word
- 17:21Speaker 1: a lot. You know, you make fun of me.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I know, Michael, there are three words that I use
- 17:30Speaker 2: it entirely too much, and that's one of them. Where
- 17:34Speaker 2: are the other two? I have to go back and listen.
- 17:40Speaker 2: You can't even remember that, remember now? Okay, but there
- 17:43Speaker 2: there are three words that I say all the time. Honestly,
- 17:46Speaker 2: I say, honestly.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, my wife gives me. I told you about that.
- 17:49Speaker 1: My wife gives me a hard time about that. But
- 17:51Speaker 1: Roger Craig was the one Roger Craig. Okay, who was
- 17:55Speaker 1: he is that? Yeah? I don't remember who Roger. I
- 17:59Speaker 1: don't for Roger Craig either, So that's really that's really sad.
- 18:06Speaker 1: And I tell you what, They're gonna look at this
- 18:08Speaker 1: and say, does football have something to do with that? So?
- 18:14Speaker 1: Uh but anyway, all right, we got to take our
- 18:16Speaker 1: first break five O two three four fourteen fifty. A
- 18:19Speaker 1: lot of football talk today, but there is going to
- 18:22Speaker 1: be basketball talk. I'm going to tell you right now
- 18:24Speaker 1: because I am here to say, Mark Pope, whoever's doing this,
- 18:29Speaker 1: I don't know if it's Mark Pope or somebody in
- 18:31Speaker 1: the basketball officers. They are coming up with some phenomenal
- 18:34Speaker 1: ideas and you were calling out the uh social media people.
- 18:39Speaker 1: They're doing an incredible job. UK's doing a great job
- 18:41Speaker 1: right now and I'm I'm happy to see the refresh.
- 18:45Speaker 1: You wonder if it's because it's the same people. Nothing's
- 18:48Speaker 1: changed in the social media place about Jay Batt came
- 18:51Speaker 1: aboard exactly. Maybe something and maybe the handcuffs are off
- 18:56Speaker 1: and now we can have a little fun at UK
- 18:59Speaker 1: within the athletic department. So we'll talk about that next
- 19:02Speaker 1: because I think that deserves to be the next topic
- 19:06Speaker 1: on this show, is what Mark Pope is doing. So
- 19:08Speaker 1: stay right there five O two three four fourteen fifty
- 19:11Speaker 1: five O two four one four fourteen fifty. You want
- 19:13Speaker 1: to text on the Whiskey the text line, we got
- 19:15Speaker 1: a long way to go, stay right there and a
- 19:18Speaker 1: short time to do it. This is just a cap
- 19:26Speaker 1: scacely to not do Fabo two three four fourteen fifty.
- 19:55Speaker 1: If you want to call Fibo two four one four
- 19:59Speaker 1: fourteen fifty you want a text on the Whisky Thief
- 20:01Speaker 1: text line, or you can tweet me at just the
- 20:03Speaker 1: Cat Radio. So on Friday, I'm kind of disappointed that
- 20:08Speaker 1: because you know, typically you know how news dumps happen.
- 20:12Speaker 1: News stumps always happen on Friday when people don't want
- 20:16Speaker 1: you to really report it and they're hoping that you
- 20:19Speaker 1: forget it by Monday. Well, this is something that's really
- 20:22Speaker 1: positive and I think is a big promotion for UK basketball,
- 20:28Speaker 1: as if UK needs to be promoted anymore. But listen,
- 20:32Speaker 1: I'm giving a lot of credit to Mark Pope for
- 20:34Speaker 1: what they're trying to do, and I love the attempt,
- 20:38Speaker 1: and I think it's no longer the swing and miss.
- 20:41Speaker 1: These are home runs as far as I'm concerned. And
- 20:44Speaker 1: Mark Pope or the basketball program at Kentucky announced they
- 20:48Speaker 1: are going to have and yes, I went back. You
- 20:51Speaker 1: asked me, were you invited? I went back to verify
- 20:55Speaker 1: on my email and it says here you are invited.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Kentucky Men's basketball invites you to media madness. All right?
- 21:09Speaker 1: You might ask, when is media madness? All right? I
- 21:15Speaker 1: want you to know if I can last this so
- 21:17Speaker 1: uh with the media answer huh no, that media members
- 21:24Speaker 1: will do drills three on three, five on five, and
- 21:29Speaker 1: end with a postgame press conference where the players will
- 21:33Speaker 1: ask the media questions. This might be worth all the
- 21:38Speaker 1: years of me being in radio just to do this
- 21:40Speaker 1: one thing. I'm just gonna tell you right now. I
- 21:44Speaker 1: cannot wait. And I'm to the point where I think
- 21:48Speaker 1: every sport at UK should do this. Have all the
- 21:52Speaker 1: media come to try out for volleyball, football, baseball. I'm
- 22:00Speaker 1: not doing track and field sorry, and I'm not doing swimming, tennis.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Gott do football. I would do football and the heartbeat,
- 22:07Speaker 1: Oh yeah, get down there on Commonwealth or Nutter, I
- 22:10Speaker 1: don't care which one. It'd have to be flagged. Yeah,
- 22:14Speaker 1: I don't know. I might. I might get out there
- 22:16Speaker 1: and finally get some hits on some people I've always
- 22:18Speaker 1: wanted to get some hits on. They might get some
- 22:21Speaker 1: hits on me too, But I think it. I think
- 22:24Speaker 1: this is awesome. You're gonna get some gear from UK.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Finally I get a little bit of gear. No, I
- 22:31Speaker 1: would definitely do this. So, uh, now, do you want
- 22:35Speaker 1: to act like you're a UK media member go to this.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Justin No, because I am not nearly in enough shape
- 22:41Speaker 2: to play basketball and I am Well, here's what I
- 22:45Speaker 2: was thinking. Are they gonna have different divisions? I don't know, Like,
- 22:48Speaker 2: are they gonna have a young media division?
- 22:50Speaker 1: Oh so you're Oh, so you're gonna call the Michael
- 22:54Speaker 1: Bennett out and say that you need being the old
- 22:56Speaker 1: man division.
- 22:56Speaker 2: And I'm just saying you have a better chance of
- 22:59Speaker 2: success if you're in the league with like Larry Vott
- 23:02Speaker 2: and Oscar Comb's Oscar is not coming to this. I
- 23:07Speaker 2: like your odds a lot better if you're playing against
- 23:09Speaker 2: those guys.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna slap the
- 23:12Speaker 1: ball out of Larry Vott's hands and trip him. No,
- 23:16Speaker 1: I'm not listen, Larry voughts in better shape than you
- 23:18Speaker 1: think he is. He runs, he runs a lot. I'm
- 23:21Speaker 1: not saying he's not shape. I'm just saying you have
- 23:23Speaker 1: a better shot against him. Really, I say, like a
- 23:26Speaker 1: Nick Rousch, I'm going up against Nick Rauch. You're kidding.
- 23:30Speaker 1: I am going all dirty on him. He will send
- 23:33Speaker 1: your shot everything matter. I am going dirty. I'm going
- 23:36Speaker 1: to slap him on top of his bald head. No,
- 23:39Speaker 1: I listen, I want to go against Nick Rausch because
- 23:42Speaker 1: I want to shut his mouth every now and like
- 23:44Speaker 1: he probably wants to shut mine. No, don't get me wrong,
- 23:48Speaker 1: I love Nick Rausch. This is all in good fun, Okay,
- 23:50Speaker 1: So don't think that I'm hating on Nick. That's not
- 23:53Speaker 1: it at all. I just want to have a little
- 23:55Speaker 1: fun out there. Yeah, there's I'm sure there's some media
- 23:58Speaker 1: members out there that would want to go against me
- 24:00Speaker 1: and do something like that. That's fine. Let's have fun
- 24:03Speaker 1: with it. Make it a fun game, not a day
- 24:05Speaker 1: that we're trying to get back at each other in
- 24:07Speaker 1: a mean spirited way. No, I don't want it to
- 24:11Speaker 1: be about that at all. No, no, no, no, no no.
- 24:14Speaker 1: But I listen, this is going to be a lot
- 24:16Speaker 1: of fun. And yes I am. I have already marked
- 24:19Speaker 1: this on my calendar. And I want to say to
- 24:22Speaker 1: Mark Pope, man, you are killing it right now. This
- 24:26Speaker 1: is a phenomenal idea. I don't has have you ever
- 24:29Speaker 1: heard anything like this at another basketball program? I haven't either,
- 24:33Speaker 1: And I think this is a way to win the
- 24:36Speaker 1: media over. My question is where is this coming from?
- 24:40Speaker 1: You know, but who who's been in Mark Pope's here,
- 24:43Speaker 1: because we didn't see anything like this the first two
- 24:46Speaker 1: years he's been. It's like, I'm trying to think of
- 24:53Speaker 1: the best way to say this, but he it's almost
- 24:55Speaker 1: like he's a completely different person this year than what
- 24:57Speaker 1: he was the first two years. Yeah, and I don't
- 24:59Speaker 1: know if there's somebody in his ear telling him, Hey,
- 25:01Speaker 1: this is this is how you need to be, this
- 25:03Speaker 1: is the type of things you need to do, or
- 25:05Speaker 1: if it's someone giving suggestions, Hey, what do you think
- 25:07Speaker 1: about if we try this? Because there wasn't We've talked
- 25:11Speaker 1: about it a lot there. It didn't feel like there
- 25:13Speaker 1: was that working relationship between the team and the media. Yeah,
- 25:16Speaker 1: and that that was where, in my opinion, a lot
- 25:18Speaker 1: of the problems were coming from. So now you're getting
- 25:21Speaker 1: the media involved with something like this. You have the
- 25:24Speaker 1: whole hey, come check out practice thing last week. It's
- 25:27Speaker 1: just he's been very inclusive this year and I love that.
- 25:32Speaker 1: It is it Is it because we have a new ad?
- 25:35Speaker 1: Is it because that maybe handcuffs have been released from
- 25:39Speaker 1: former eighties it kind of is that coincidental? I just
- 25:44Speaker 1: don't see it that way.
- 25:45Speaker 2: For me, it's not so much about being unhandcuffed from
- 25:48Speaker 2: the last athletic director. It's more so that Jay Batt
- 25:53Speaker 2: is young. I mean, he's obviously gonna have different and
- 25:56Speaker 2: sometimes better ideas than what you were getting before. And
- 25:59Speaker 2: they're just like I said, there wasn't that effort to
- 26:01Speaker 2: get this team out in front of the public, route
- 26:04Speaker 2: around the media or any of that. And now there's
- 26:07Speaker 2: just just been this concerted effort to make that happen.
- 26:09Speaker 1: So who are who are the biggest media villains at
- 26:13Speaker 1: UK that should go against each other? Really, I'm trying
- 26:19Speaker 1: to think who they are. I mean, I'd like to
- 26:22Speaker 1: see you in ac go one on one. Oh no,
- 26:25Speaker 1: that's call Acy, poor guy. I mean, I'm to a
- 26:31Speaker 1: point I feel bad for him, but no, I don't.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Just you know, there was a while I Cutler was
- 26:39Speaker 1: one of those kind of guys, but anymore, No, I
- 26:42Speaker 1: just he just craves any kind of attention and I
- 26:45Speaker 1: just I choose not to talk about him, and I'm
- 26:48Speaker 1: not gonna talk about him negatively. But he's he's he's
- 26:51Speaker 1: just kind of different. But I'm sure in his own
- 26:54Speaker 1: way he's very very nice.
- 26:56Speaker 2: So you you asked that question, I'm trying to figure
- 26:59Speaker 2: it out.
- 26:59Speaker 1: I know, I don't. I don't have because a lot
- 27:02Speaker 1: of people are gonna say, oh, Michael, it's got to
- 27:03Speaker 1: be Matt Jones. It's like, no, I don't believe it
- 27:07Speaker 1: or not. I tease Matt, what's that he'd smoke you?
- 27:10Speaker 1: I really, yeah, m oh, he won't play me in golf,
- 27:15Speaker 1: and I've offered to play him several titles. But uh,
- 27:19Speaker 1: and in basketball maybe because he's probably a little better
- 27:23Speaker 1: shape than me. But I'm not certain of he would
- 27:25Speaker 1: beat me if if we were, if I was in
- 27:27Speaker 1: good shape, I'm not convinced of that. I'm just not
- 27:31Speaker 1: He's probably got you about like what six inches too, right,
- 27:34Speaker 1: is he not? No, he's not that much taller than me.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I'm six to two. He's yeah, he's probably right around
- 27:40Speaker 1: there too. No, I think he's a little taller than me.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I think he's like six three six four, but not
- 27:45Speaker 1: terribly much. But everybody wants to say that I listen,
- 27:50Speaker 1: I'm here to tell you. I love teasing Matt. I don't.
- 27:53Speaker 1: I don't dislike him. I think that it's not returned.
- 27:57Speaker 1: But no, he's He's very nice to so many people
- 28:00Speaker 1: out there. But is that There's got to be other
- 28:05Speaker 1: people out there that are bigger villains within the UK
- 28:09Speaker 1: media And I can't think of who that would be,
- 28:13Speaker 1: and I really can't.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I don't classify anybody within UK media as a villain.
- 28:18Speaker 1: You don't, really, I think off air there are some
- 28:22Speaker 1: Oh no, no, there are all right, Dick Gabriel Matt Jones. Yeah,
- 28:28Speaker 1: you can't talk to Dick Gabriel about him talking about
- 28:31Speaker 1: how much he doesn't care for Matt Jones. Yeah, that
- 28:34Speaker 1: would be Those would be the two villains right there.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I think if anybody had to go after I think
- 28:40Speaker 1: there's a lot of people that are a little envious
- 28:42Speaker 1: of Mett and his success and that congratulations to him.
- 28:46Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of people out there that
- 28:48Speaker 1: would love to go and against Matt. I don't care,
- 28:52Speaker 1: but I think that would be fun. You know, Matt.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Matt would be the duke okay, and the rest of
- 28:58Speaker 1: us could be uk and we could all just shoot
- 29:01Speaker 1: against him. I think there should be some competitions though, Uh,
- 29:06Speaker 1: we're we're not exuberating a lot of effort out there, okay,
- 29:10Speaker 1: running up and down the court, because you're not going
- 29:12Speaker 1: to find a lot of us running up and down
- 29:13Speaker 1: the court. I think you should have like a free
- 29:15Speaker 1: throw competition. I think you should have a three point competition.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Uh, what else could I'm not gonna do sprints, Okay,
- 29:24Speaker 2: don't don't make me do heaters out Oh I bet
- 29:26Speaker 2: you're gonna have to. No, No, I mean no. Uh,
- 29:31Speaker 2: and and please don't go semi pro on me, okay
- 29:33Speaker 2: and hit me in the juvia so or whatever that was.
- 29:36Speaker 2: But uh, but by the way, you've got to go
- 29:39Speaker 2: watch that movie. Okay, what movie? Semi pro? I've you
- 29:44Speaker 2: didn't like it, though I not really know. Okay, Well,
- 29:48Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to this. I cannot wait. Uh what
- 29:52Speaker 2: do I need to do? Do I need to get
- 29:54Speaker 2: myself in a little bit better shape for something like this?
- 29:57Speaker 2: Because can I do the drills?
- 29:59Speaker 1: I think you do? You have any confidence in me
- 30:01Speaker 1: that I can do drinks? I think you could do
- 30:03Speaker 1: the drinks. I think you could dribble between cones and
- 30:06Speaker 1: all that. But now, if you got to run formally
- 30:11Speaker 1: called suicides, what are we calling it? Yeah, I know
- 30:14Speaker 1: I don't know which Colm, but I know exactly what's
- 30:16Speaker 1: I don't think. I don't think you could do that. No,
- 30:18Speaker 1: I could not do it. Let me rephrase that. I
- 30:21Speaker 1: think you could do it. I just don't think you
- 30:23Speaker 1: could do it quickly. No, No, you're exactly correct. What
- 30:28Speaker 1: are other things you think I could do?
- 30:33Speaker 2: I've never seen you shoot a basketball, Okay, so I
- 30:36Speaker 2: don't know how qualified you are in that regard and
- 30:39Speaker 2: fair enough. So really, quite honestly, I don't have much faith.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I'm willing to take it. Really. I love this. See
- 30:47Speaker 1: when you say something like that, that motivates me even
- 30:51Speaker 1: more when somebody doesn't believe in me, or somebody really
- 30:55Speaker 1: comes after me about they don't think I can do something.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Man, that gets me going, Well, I'm here to tell
- 31:01Speaker 2: you I don't really believe in you.
- 31:06Speaker 1: You have zero faith in me. I love this. Wow,
- 31:10Speaker 1: you think I have no athleticism as which I not
- 31:13Speaker 1: what I'm saying. No, I think it is not what
- 31:16Speaker 1: I'm saying at all. Okay, all right now, all this
- 31:19Speaker 1: is so dependent on your teammates, right yeah, I mean
- 31:22Speaker 1: even like outside of drills, if you're doing three on
- 31:24Speaker 1: three or five on five, it's all about who's on
- 31:26Speaker 1: your team. And I'm curious how they're gonna come up
- 31:29Speaker 1: with that. There's gonna be a school yard pick them.
- 31:31Speaker 1: All right, Well, let's think about let's think about. I
- 31:34Speaker 1: don't know that is like everybody that works together get
- 31:38Speaker 1: to be on the same because because when I'm thinking,
- 31:40Speaker 1: I want the dirty players because that's how I'm gonna play.
- 31:42Speaker 1: I'm gonna play dirty. Okay, I'm not going to bad
- 31:45Speaker 1: mouth you. It's not gonna come for my voice. I'm
- 31:47Speaker 1: gonna play dirty a different way and it's gonna be sneaky.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Michael Bennett out there. You need to get the big
- 31:53Speaker 1: X team. See, I like this. You know who I'm getting,
- 31:56Speaker 1: Get Steven p exactly. I want. I want t J.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Walker because I think the biggest mouth is not gonna
- 32:04Speaker 1: be Nick Rausch. I think it's gonna be TJ Walker
- 32:06Speaker 1: out there talking the most smack. TJ can play. He's good,
- 32:12Speaker 1: okay now, and I like our team and Pete can shoot.
- 32:16Speaker 1: And here's the sad part. Here's the sad part. Those
- 32:19Speaker 1: three guys are looking at me and says, yeah, we're good. Michael,
- 32:22Speaker 1: you just sit over there and coach us. And I'm like, no,
- 32:25Speaker 1: I don't want to coach. I want to be out
- 32:27Speaker 1: there because I'm gonna take the old man on the
- 32:29Speaker 1: other side and I'm going to beat him to a pulp.
- 32:31Speaker 1: He could be the next John Hooden. John Hooden, Yeah,
- 32:35Speaker 1: why no, I don't want that. You mean hood no
- 32:38Speaker 1: Hooding because he was a beast. Oh that's right, okay,
- 32:41Speaker 1: I forgot that. They Yeah, okay, now, Michael Bennett, that
- 32:46Speaker 1: can get it. Okay, sorry about that cow, but no,
- 32:51Speaker 1: I'm out there for this. And yeah, I like my
- 32:54Speaker 1: team now. Now we need one more. Who are we
- 32:56Speaker 1: picking as our next uh uh? I'm trying to think
- 33:01Speaker 1: who we would pick. Gotta recruit Shannon shna the dude.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Gotta recruit him because I think he would play dirty.
- 33:09Speaker 1: But see, he would talk smack too to you. Why
- 33:13Speaker 1: exactly he would talk smack to his own player, his
- 33:16Speaker 1: own teammate. He would he like, come on, fat boy,
- 33:20Speaker 1: let's go. I mean he would. He probably wouldn't say
- 33:22Speaker 1: that I would, but uh no, I think that's a
- 33:25Speaker 1: great subject. So I like our team now, TJ Walker,
- 33:29Speaker 1: Nick Roush, Steven Peak and Shanaan dude. And then you know,
- 33:34Speaker 1: the star player of the whole team is Michael Bennett.
- 33:37Speaker 1: But what if you don't love this? What if you
- 33:38Speaker 1: don't get to pick your team and you just have
- 33:40Speaker 1: to be on a random team, then I'm dead. I
- 33:42Speaker 1: think that'd be even for the better. You would I
- 33:46Speaker 1: want this to be televised? Oh? I really?
- 33:50Speaker 2: Knowing as many UK media members as I know, I
- 33:53Speaker 2: would love if this was televised.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Really, who do you want to see the most out
- 33:57Speaker 1: there everybody, see everybody.
- 34:00Speaker 2: I'm just so curious about how these guys are back,
- 34:03Speaker 2: like a Dylan Ballard or a mats Oh.
- 34:06Speaker 1: You know who I would go against, and I'd be
- 34:08Speaker 1: a little afraid of it. Probably Ryan Lemon. Yeah, yeah,
- 34:13Speaker 1: probably Ryan Lemon. I'd throw his glasses off and throw
- 34:17Speaker 1: him across the court so he couldn't see. You don't
- 34:19Speaker 1: need to do that. The dude's like five foot three. Well,
- 34:21Speaker 1: you're right, no, right's not that short now. But here's
- 34:24Speaker 1: the problem. I love Ryan Lemon. I consider Ryan Lemmon
- 34:27Speaker 1: a really good friend, and I don't I don't want
- 34:30Speaker 1: to hurt him, but I'm afraid he might be cause
- 34:33Speaker 1: Fran does chatter a little bit. He can get out
- 34:36Speaker 1: there and chatter a bit.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Isn't he just coming off an injury? Of course you'd
- 34:39Speaker 2: pick him, Okay, all right? And just I don't know
- 34:42Speaker 2: who you want me to go against. I really don't.
- 34:44Speaker 2: I already told you I'm not going against him. He's
- 34:48Speaker 2: like eighty years old, Okay, I am not going to
- 34:51Speaker 2: be responsible for his next heart attack. No, He'll probably
- 34:55Speaker 2: get out there and want to do some yoga poses
- 34:57Speaker 2: and I'm just not into that, Okay. I am not
- 35:00Speaker 2: into Alan Cutler doing yoga poses out in the basketball court.
- 35:04Speaker 2: That's how he would warm up. It's like, oh my gosh, man, No,
- 35:08Speaker 2: I'm not going against him. Give me somebody else. I'll
- 35:12Speaker 2: go against Ryan Lemon or. I'm trying to think Tom
- 35:16Speaker 2: Leach won't do this?
- 35:17Speaker 1: Will Oh? You and Tom Lee? Can you imagine you verse?
- 35:20Speaker 1: Tom Leach would probably be a good back. What if
- 35:23Speaker 1: you had Tom Leach and Jack Gibbons announcing the game? Though?
- 35:27Speaker 1: I seriously, this would be fun Okay, I am so
- 35:31Speaker 1: into this, it's not even funny. How the heck are
- 35:33Speaker 1: you gonna wait another month? I don't know, because I'm
- 35:36Speaker 1: going to talk about this for a long time. I am,
- 35:39Speaker 1: And it might be getting up to it and then
- 35:41Speaker 1: going out of it. Well, it depends if I'm really
- 35:44Speaker 1: embarrassed by it afterwards and I end up with a
- 35:47Speaker 1: broken leg or something in the hospital. Yeah, this might
- 35:51Speaker 1: not go as well as I think. I mean, what
- 35:53Speaker 1: injury am I gonna get first? Because I'm gonna get
- 35:56Speaker 1: multiple in him in it? You think so? Yeah, I'll
- 36:00Speaker 1: probably get multiple sprained ankles and yeah, I'll pull a groin.
- 36:07Speaker 1: I might pull both. I mean, who knows? But anyway,
- 36:10Speaker 1: we gotta take a break and uh, we'll get to
- 36:12Speaker 1: your texas soon as we get back. Five O two
- 36:15Speaker 1: four one four. I can't wait to eat some of
- 36:19Speaker 1: these four one four fourteen fifties stay right there? More
- 36:22Speaker 1: just cats coming right up. I'll tell you what.
- 37:17Speaker 2: I mean.
- 37:19Speaker 3: This whole situation with media madness has made me motivated
- 37:26Speaker 3: enough that Okay, I'm instead of walking, I might start running.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Some WHOA, yeah, how do you like that? Because I
- 37:32Speaker 1: love to walk. Walking is so relaxing to me. But
- 37:37Speaker 1: I'm to the point now I can't get there and
- 37:39Speaker 1: just show up and be so wide of shape that
- 37:42Speaker 1: I can't do anything. I gotta be in better shape
- 37:45Speaker 1: for this. This might motivate me to get in that
- 37:48Speaker 1: kind of shape. Right there? Got a month and a
- 37:50Speaker 1: week five wenus? Can I do? What kind of shape
- 37:53Speaker 1: can I get myself in five weeks? Is there anybody
- 37:56Speaker 1: out there that wants to get me ready? Because I
- 37:58Speaker 1: want the help. Now.
- 37:59Speaker 2: I don't know that you have to get to like
- 38:02Speaker 2: the best shape of your life, right right? I think
- 38:05Speaker 2: you definitely want to get to a spot in the
- 38:06Speaker 2: next five weeks where you could prove that you can
- 38:09Speaker 2: run up and down short five.
- 38:11Speaker 1: This is something I would document and showing how much
- 38:15Speaker 1: better shape I'm getting in. And this is this is
- 38:18Speaker 1: uncomfortable for me. Okay, I don't like running. I've never
- 38:24Speaker 1: even when I was playing sports in high school, I
- 38:27Speaker 1: never liked running. I might do it for this because
- 38:30Speaker 1: I wanted to take this seriously. But on the Huh
- 38:33Speaker 1: my sport in high school was running? Was it really
- 38:36Speaker 1: cross country? Do you not miss running? Uh?
- 38:38Speaker 2: Sometimes? But now I mean I can't do it anymore.
- 38:42Speaker 2: My knees are far too messed up.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Oh really? How so I know there's always hurt. Okay,
- 38:48Speaker 1: that's too bad. I need replaced. No, you're too young
- 38:52Speaker 1: to have your knees replaced. No. If you go meet
- 38:55Speaker 1: a doctor and says you have to have knee replacement,
- 38:57Speaker 1: you need to go find another doctor. Uh. Jamie tex
- 39:00Speaker 1: out five two four one four fourteen fifty Happy Monday, guys. Sorry,
- 39:04Speaker 1: I'm not able to listen live, but I wanted to
- 39:07Speaker 1: send this in before I forget My son and I
- 39:11Speaker 1: got to see JD at our city's annual party at
- 39:14Speaker 1: the Beach Concert here in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. I'm so
- 39:18Speaker 1: jealous that freaking rock just outside of Saint Louis. We
- 39:23Speaker 1: had such a great time. It was especially fun getting
- 39:27Speaker 1: to experience getting to experience it together. And of course
- 39:31Speaker 1: we couldn't pass up the chance to see JD and
- 39:35Speaker 1: UH when he came at our little corner of Saint
- 39:38Speaker 1: Louis area. So just wanted to share our fun night
- 39:42Speaker 1: with our guy with with you guys. That's that's awesome.
- 39:45Speaker 1: There's a nice picture of him and UH and her
- 39:49Speaker 1: right there, and that's that's really nice that you know,
- 39:52Speaker 1: speaking of this because I saw all kinds of pictures
- 39:55Speaker 1: that JD put up. But that would be the place
- 39:58Speaker 1: for the uh hell of helopoon or whatever. That that's
- 40:02Speaker 1: where the hellopoon needs to go is to what is
- 40:06Speaker 1: it called Pontoon Beach. Yeah, my buddy, Randy pal, you
- 40:11Speaker 1: need to take the helopoon there for the concert. Okay,
- 40:14Speaker 1: and just started up, Yeah, exactly just started up, and
- 40:17Speaker 1: that that would be JD's grand entrance for the concert.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Huh what do you think of that idea? Yeah, no,
- 40:25Speaker 1: don't do that. Jad.
- 40:26Speaker 2: That show did look like it rock though, did it really?
- 40:29Speaker 2: It was a big, big crowd, huge crowd.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh, John texted, Uh just got done with my
- 40:37Speaker 1: jog and listening to your story about your friend and
- 40:39Speaker 1: his helotoon a heleopoon boat, that is awesome. Your friend
- 40:43Speaker 1: is a modern day inspector, gadget or even mcgiver. Is
- 40:50Speaker 1: that the case? Yeah, it's a helopoon. Okay, I'm sticking
- 40:53Speaker 1: with helopoon. I think, Well, usually when you come up
- 40:56Speaker 1: with an idea, usually the first one is the best,
- 40:58Speaker 1: isn't it. That's kind of true of names, Usually the
- 41:02Speaker 1: first one you come up is typically the best. I
- 41:04Speaker 1: like to take notes, like, when we're naming horses, I'll
- 41:07Speaker 1: put dan like, I've got a few names for this
- 41:09Speaker 1: one horse we're getting ready to name, and usually the
- 41:12Speaker 1: first one is the best one. You want to tell us? No,
- 41:17Speaker 1: all right, No, I won't tell you until we've officially done.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Oh way, speaking of horse names, there were some big
- 41:23Speaker 2: name horses racing this weekend. Oh yeah, it was an
- 41:28Speaker 2: awesome horse racing weekend.
- 41:29Speaker 1: All right. I don't want I want to talk about
- 41:32Speaker 1: that second hour, So let's not get into that yet.
- 41:34Speaker 1: But let's let's get to this one. Text sounds like uh,
- 41:39Speaker 1: adversaries than villains, or sounds more like adversaries and villains.
- 41:44Speaker 1: They only have beef with each other? I mean, who
- 41:50Speaker 1: do I have beef with? You keep saying ac stop,
- 41:54Speaker 1: let's just not mention him anymore. I don't have beef
- 41:58Speaker 1: with him. I don't know if he has with me
- 42:00Speaker 1: or not. But let's just move on from that one.
- 42:02Speaker 1: That one's that one's gone. Okay, Uh, But everybody says
- 42:08Speaker 1: it's me and Matt Jones. I just who else does
- 42:12Speaker 1: have beef out there? I don't know if anybody else
- 42:15Speaker 1: I had to say it. I'm not that well informed?
- 42:20Speaker 1: Are You're not? Okay? Well, I'm sorry you're not. You
- 42:23Speaker 1: need to be more informed. Friendly reminder Carol Baskin, that
- 42:27Speaker 1: is all why that's right killed her husband. Ah, every
- 42:34Speaker 1: time I see Baskin, I think Baskin Robbins. Isn't that terrible?
- 42:38Speaker 1: So I wonder she's related to basket And was Baskin
- 42:41Speaker 1: and Robin's one person's name, or was Baskin the last
- 42:46Speaker 1: name of one person Robin's the next another person? That's
- 42:48Speaker 1: what I would assume the latter.
- 42:50Speaker 2: You think it's that like a law firm, Oh, like
- 42:52Speaker 2: a law firm. Maybe it started as a law firm
- 42:55Speaker 2: and they just ate so much ice cream. They said
- 42:57Speaker 2: what are we doing? Yeah, law's no fun. Let's start
- 42:59Speaker 2: ice cream.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Uh. One person said, don't go against Justin Roland. He
- 43:04Speaker 1: is jacked, is he? I haven't seen a whole picture
- 43:09Speaker 1: of him in a long time, So I don't know.
- 43:11Speaker 1: I like Justin Rowland, but I mean, is he sneaky crazy?
- 43:18Speaker 1: I don't know. I just can't think of anybody out there.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Is he really? Okay? Then I'm not going against him.
- 43:28Speaker 1: I just can't think of anybody else out there. Oh,
- 43:32Speaker 1: what's the Taylor guy? The sports guy at Channel thirty two?
- 43:36Speaker 1: What's his name? kN Taylor?
- 43:38Speaker 2: Kent Taylor. That's who i'd go against right there. Yeah,
- 43:43Speaker 2: that's your rival. Yeah, yeah, I'm going against kN Taylor.
- 43:46Speaker 2: But he won't show up because it's not a U
- 43:48Speaker 2: of EL event.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Wow. Oh did I say that out loud? Oh? Sorry
- 43:53Speaker 1: about that? Uh so yeah, I can just say he
- 43:56Speaker 1: won't be there. Josh texted it. I don't know, man,
- 44:00Speaker 1: The media maddess tickets of Battleship Versus Bangs might be
- 44:05Speaker 1: the best ticket of the year. Gotta get country crossed up, Michael.
- 44:13Speaker 1: I like that, Josh, Yes, Hell, I'm having fun with
- 44:16Speaker 1: this pick up. Big Blue Drew and Woo for the
- 44:19Speaker 1: Big Adam. That's it, Yes, that's it. Wu is a
- 44:25Speaker 1: part of the Big X. Okay, he's no longer part
- 44:28Speaker 1: of a country over there. Yeah, that's that's exactly. That's
- 44:32Speaker 1: our team right there. And I'm first man coming off
- 44:35Speaker 1: the bench. I'm sorry, Michael Bennett, you're not starting. You're
- 44:39Speaker 1: the sixth man. And we're probably never exchanging calling time
- 44:43Speaker 1: out either. So yeah, I like this right there exactly.
- 44:49Speaker 1: So we got you're starting five, TJ Walker, Nick Roush,
- 44:54Speaker 1: wu orb Zoot, Stephen Peak, Stephen Peak, there's four and
- 44:59Speaker 1: h Big Blue Drew. Who is he? No, he's he
- 45:02Speaker 1: would play on the ks R? T Oh you would?
- 45:05Speaker 1: Who is Big Blue Drew? Oh no, no, no, no,
- 45:07Speaker 1: no no, I was thinking of Drew Franklin. No, Big
- 45:10Speaker 1: Blue Drew is yeah? Get him? Yeah? Oh really really?
- 45:15Speaker 1: And then Michael Bennet's off the bench. We need to
- 45:19Speaker 1: have maybe Winston Bennett come in for a few shows
- 45:23Speaker 1: and then that way he could be a medium member
- 45:25Speaker 1: of the Big X team. And then boom, we got
- 45:28Speaker 1: Winston Bennett on our team. Okay, how do you like that?
- 45:31Speaker 1: Can you imagine wu orb Zoot and Winston Bennett out
- 45:35Speaker 1: there as part of the media. Yeah, I think it worked.
- 45:38Speaker 1: He's the old man well, Kenny Walker. I mean he
- 45:42Speaker 1: does radio over and Lexington. He's been on with a
- 45:44Speaker 1: show with me a few times that I could Heck,
- 45:46Speaker 1: you might as well try to recruit Mark Pope at
- 45:48Speaker 1: this stage. Why not in this juncture? Sorry, just joking. Uh,
- 45:56Speaker 1: not that well informed? One? Texter says, how how are
- 46:00Speaker 1: we ever going to get Scoot Scoops? That's a good point.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Good point, God, that's you're exactly Texter. And I appreciate
- 46:10Speaker 1: you texting yeah and texted instance July and I appreciate
- 46:12Speaker 1: you doing this, But yes, how do we get Scoot Scoops?
- 46:16Speaker 1: If you're not going to be that well informed? Okay,
- 46:19Speaker 1: you gotta get your homework going on. You're right, you do,
- 46:23Speaker 1: And I'm blaming you for this. I gotta get you
- 46:26Speaker 1: on this Scoot Scoops. And that's because that's gonna be
- 46:28Speaker 1: the best segment I'm telling you right now, the one
- 46:31Speaker 1: we had before with Matthew with doing his uh gen
- 46:36Speaker 1: z words of the of the week and doing the
- 46:41Speaker 1: whole soccer thing. I got. I miss these kind of episodes.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I need to have once a week Scoot Scoops all right,
- 46:48Speaker 1: And it doesn't have to be UK. It could be
- 46:50Speaker 1: anything out there, Okay. It could be any kind of
- 46:53Speaker 1: pop culture, it could be any kind of music, it
- 46:56Speaker 1: could be anything. Scoots. Okay, we put to get that's
- 47:00Speaker 1: the only time I'm ever going to call you Scoots.
- 47:02Speaker 1: I just never kind of I know you like that nickname.
- 47:04Speaker 1: I've never liked it. I mean it was justin. I
- 47:07Speaker 1: don't really like it. Okay, good dislike it. See, I'm
- 47:10Speaker 1: glad you said that because now forever, that just informed
- 47:13Speaker 1: me that forever I'm going to call you Justin. That's
- 47:15Speaker 1: what I've always called you since you've been on the
- 47:16Speaker 1: show with me. Sure, but I need Scoot Scoops. Okay,
- 47:20Speaker 1: I just need it. And I know we get an
- 47:21Speaker 1: advertiser out there, and it should be an ice cream advertiser. Okay, yeah,
- 47:25Speaker 1: it should be somebody out there that has a great
- 47:28Speaker 1: ice cream shop. So all right, we got to take
- 47:30Speaker 1: a break. We are going to come back hour two.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Guess some horse racing stuff and then we got some
- 47:35Speaker 1: football stuff I want to talk about. So stay right there,
- 47:38Speaker 1: because it was a big day Friday night in Lexington.
- 47:41Speaker 1: We'll talk about it. Next. This is Just a Cat.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Welcome to the Cats with Michael Bennett. All right, we're
- 48:07Speaker 1: on now. We're number two on this Monday at Just
- 48:09Speaker 1: the Cats. If you want to join us, you can
- 48:11Speaker 1: call us at five O two three eight four fourteen fifty.
- 48:13Speaker 1: If you want to text us on the Whisky Thief
- 48:15Speaker 1: text line, you can do that five O two four
- 48:17Speaker 1: one four fourteen fifteen. You can tweet me at Just
- 48:19Speaker 1: the Cat Radio. Uh so, uh, A lot of people
- 48:23Speaker 1: are talking about one particular thing. Uh. And that's who's
- 48:27Speaker 1: gonna be the backup quarterback under Kenny Minshee. And you
- 48:30Speaker 1: got three different choices here. And I know you, mister,
- 48:34Speaker 1: I don't have scoops on scoots yet, but we're gonna
- 48:37Speaker 1: get that. I'm gonna explain them to you. Okay, You've
- 48:40Speaker 1: got six foot three former three star Brennan Ward, who's
- 48:43Speaker 1: out of Ohio sophomore. You've got Jack Long, six foot
- 48:48Speaker 1: one out of Ohio, another three star who's your junior.
- 48:52Speaker 1: And you've got six foot two freshman, another Ohio player
- 48:57Speaker 1: who we all know, Matt Ponatowski.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Ah, I give me Brendan. Why do you say that
- 49:07Speaker 2: biggest guy six foot three? I like my quarterbacks to
- 49:09Speaker 2: be a little bit tall on the taller side so
- 49:11Speaker 2: they can, especially with the offensive line that Kentucky's gonna have.
- 49:15Speaker 2: I mean, you're you're not gonna be able to see
- 49:17Speaker 2: over those guys well, and that's why you get worried
- 49:19Speaker 2: about Minschi seeing over those guys. Are you really how
- 49:23Speaker 2: tall Minchi? He looks like a little guy. Minschi's probably
- 49:26Speaker 2: six y three, you think. Yeah, he was taller than me,
- 49:30Speaker 2: and he stood right next to me. Yeah, we were
- 49:31Speaker 2: together last Monday, and he was taller than me. Look
- 49:34Speaker 2: it up real quick. I think he was six three
- 49:37Speaker 2: if he's ninety six six two, okay, there in those
- 49:40Speaker 2: videos look taller than me. The water bottle video where
- 49:43Speaker 2: they're throwing at that. Oh yeah, he looked like he
- 49:46Speaker 2: was like five to ten.
- 49:47Speaker 1: Yeah. But I mean, all right, think of the short
- 49:50Speaker 1: quarterbacks that were really successful in course, we all know
- 49:54Speaker 1: the one that you can't stand Diego Pavia. Yeah, I
- 49:57Speaker 1: mean why was he so good? Because I would have
- 50:02Speaker 1: to say, most of his linemen in Vanderbilt will tar
- 50:04Speaker 1: a lot taller than him, weren't they sure? So how
- 50:07Speaker 1: was he seen over him? It's a great question. I
- 50:09Speaker 1: don't know I don't have the answer to that, but
- 50:11Speaker 1: I mean, if you think that the defensive side would
- 50:14Speaker 1: be batting down those balls all the time, I.
- 50:16Speaker 2: Mean, if you want to go through short quarterbacks, there's
- 50:18Speaker 2: been a ton of successful I mean one just got
- 50:20Speaker 2: in the Hall of Fame. This one Drew Brees exactly.
- 50:23Speaker 2: The other one I would think it was Johnny Manziel,
- 50:25Speaker 2: Tyler Murray. Tyler Murray is another good one. Russell Wilson's time.
- 50:30Speaker 2: Russell Wilson. Why was he good in the NFL? He
- 50:34Speaker 2: was a great quarterback?
- 50:35Speaker 1: Well, I don't know. Would you say he was a
- 50:37Speaker 1: great quarterback in the NFL, I'd say he's very good.
- 50:39Speaker 1: I'd say it was probably great, Okay, exactly, he won
- 50:43Speaker 1: a Super Bowl. I was like Wilson, Russell Wilson. I
- 50:48Speaker 1: also thought he was a really good player. Who was
- 50:50Speaker 1: the quarterback that was so good? Came out of LSU
- 50:53Speaker 1: number one draft pick and never made it. I can't
- 50:55Speaker 1: think of what his name. He had, just had a
- 50:57Speaker 1: crazy arm. They showed a video of him throwing the
- 51:00Speaker 1: ball like sixty yards just sitting on the ground. I
- 51:04Speaker 1: can't think it would This was probably ten so years ago.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I can't think of what his name was, but it's
- 51:09Speaker 1: all it was JaMarcus Russell. Yeah, the complete bust in
- 51:14Speaker 1: the NFL. But I mean he was just what I mean,
- 51:17Speaker 1: why was Russell Wilson better than him? You would have
- 51:22Speaker 1: thought the complete opposite.
- 51:23Speaker 2: Oh, Russell Wilson was in a competent franchise, whereas JaMarcus
- 51:27Speaker 2: got drafted by the Raiders.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Oh, and you think that's the issue, kind of like
- 51:31Speaker 1: the Timkout situation. You join a team like that and boom,
- 51:35Speaker 1: you just lose your career. But I'm almost to the point,
- 51:38Speaker 1: I don't know. You think it's too early for Ponatowski
- 51:41Speaker 1: to be the backup. You think he needs a year
- 51:43Speaker 1: before you can say he's truly the backup, because you
- 51:46Speaker 1: wonder did will Stein convince him in any way? Listen,
- 51:49Speaker 1: you come here, you're gonna be the backup. You're gonna
- 51:53Speaker 1: be the number two guy. Is there any chance that happened?
- 51:56Speaker 1: I really don't know. Yeah, I mean I don't see
- 51:59Speaker 1: him ding this year. I don't.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Maybe he gets in there in like garbage time if
- 52:03Speaker 2: a game's out of hand or something. But yeah, you
- 52:06Speaker 2: you definitely want to give a kid like that a
- 52:08Speaker 2: year to catch up to the speed.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's all the talk right now is who's
- 52:11Speaker 1: going to be the backup? Because you know, can you minch,
- 52:14Speaker 1: He's going to be the starting guy at the end
- 52:15Speaker 1: of the day.
- 52:15Speaker 2: It shouldn't matter, right, hopefully everything goes the way it's
- 52:18Speaker 2: supposed to go. Back quarterback spot shouldn't be It shouldn't
- 52:22Speaker 2: even be on your radar.
- 52:23Speaker 1: How's that gone the last few years? That's not gone? Well,
- 52:28Speaker 1: it's always been the backup coming back, even with Will
- 52:30Speaker 1: Levis when Will Levis was here but that injured.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Yeah, but you've also not had a really good offensive line,
- 52:35Speaker 2: like you're gonna have this.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Yeah, and I hope we do have that really good
- 52:39Speaker 1: offensive line. We'll see. But how about can I just
- 52:43Speaker 1: give a shout out to all the fans that spent
- 52:45Speaker 1: the night at Commonwealth Stadium on Friday night. I don't
- 52:48Speaker 1: know if you saw this. Why did they do that?
- 52:51Speaker 1: It was Tillgate night, but there wasn't a game, no,
- 52:55Speaker 1: meaning the next morning, Saturday morning, they were allowed to
- 52:59Speaker 1: set up their tents where they wanted to set them up.
- 53:03Speaker 1: So that was the whole point. So it was camp
- 53:06Speaker 1: out night Friday night, and that was where they were
- 53:09Speaker 1: able to secure their tailgate location for the upcoming season.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Now they couldn't leave the tops on, you know, the
- 53:17Speaker 1: canvas on top of the tent. You could only leave
- 53:19Speaker 1: the frame. But I thought that was awesome. That to
- 53:22Speaker 1: me shows right there excitement is back for UK football
- 53:27Speaker 1: and that's another like really cool thing to do as
- 53:29Speaker 1: well for the fans. Are you surprised there's this much
- 53:32Speaker 1: excitement right now? Not at all? No, are you not? No?
- 53:36Speaker 1: I'm not either, But it makes me feel good that
- 53:39Speaker 1: people are excited about football again. I mean that was
- 53:41Speaker 1: always what's so frustrating going through the Jerry Claiburn years,
- 53:45Speaker 1: the Bill Curry years. I'm trying to think how Mummy
- 53:49Speaker 1: wasn't that way, but it did quickly become that way
- 53:52Speaker 1: under Joker. It was just the beginning of Rich Brooks era.
- 53:58Speaker 1: I think it was a little excitement in the beginning,
- 54:00Speaker 1: but then it kind of slowed down and then you
- 54:02Speaker 1: had the Mark Pope where people got fattened in the beginning,
- 54:05Speaker 1: but it kind of slowed down until the South Carolina game.
- 54:10Speaker 1: And so I don't know, we need to have Matt
- 54:13Speaker 1: Austin come in sometime soon. Yeah, to go through all
- 54:15Speaker 1: the ruse. Yeah, I got I gotta do that. I
- 54:17Speaker 1: gotta schedule him so but anyway, but yeah, it just uh,
- 54:21Speaker 1: I'm excited about this in the fact that they showed
- 54:25Speaker 1: a video of will Stein and Jay Batt going around
- 54:29Speaker 1: giving the fans donuts on Saturday morning, I thought was
- 54:32Speaker 1: a nice touch. But for those of us that are
- 54:35Speaker 1: not having sugar, hey man, how about a bagel? How
- 54:37Speaker 1: about it? I mean, come on, does it have to
- 54:39Speaker 1: be fat all the time that you're serving us? But uh, anyway,
- 54:42Speaker 1: bagels are pretty fattening too, but not as fattening as
- 54:46Speaker 1: all the sugar and donuts? Are they? I bet they're
- 54:48Speaker 1: pretty equal, are they? No? Donut?
- 54:51Speaker 2: No way, donuts have more sugar. But I bet bagels
- 54:54Speaker 2: are just as fattening. Really, I guarantee you. I guarantee
- 54:58Speaker 2: you're wrong because it's Brett. Yes, it's a carb, but
- 55:02Speaker 2: you got so much more sugar, which is more fat,
- 55:07Speaker 2: isn't it?
- 55:08Speaker 1: M I don't know. I would just have to say
- 55:12Speaker 1: bagels are worse for you than donuts are. If they
- 55:15Speaker 1: were the same, then I've made a mistake all my life.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Are you a bagel guy? I am a bagel guy. Yeah.
- 55:22Speaker 2: So, according to Google a plainer, holy bagel is generally
- 55:26Speaker 2: healthier than a donut. Okay, because it is because it's
- 55:29Speaker 2: baked rather than deep fried, contains far less sugar, and
- 55:32Speaker 2: offers more protein.
- 55:34Speaker 1: There you go. How's it offering protein? Who knows? But
- 55:37Speaker 1: then if you slatter with cream cheese, I wonder how
- 55:40Speaker 1: that change? Ah, that's all that's We'll just get the light,
- 55:43Speaker 1: get the light cream cheese. One day, I'm going to Philadelphia.
- 55:46Speaker 1: See where they make cream cheese. You don't get the reference,
- 55:49Speaker 1: And that's okay, it's Philadelphia. Well, yes, but it's a
- 55:53Speaker 1: line from a movie. Have you ever watched the movie?
- 55:57Speaker 1: Probably not best in show, No, oh man, awesome movie. Yeah, uh,
- 56:03Speaker 1: but uh yeah. I enjoyed that. On Friday, ESPN's Ryan
- 56:06Speaker 1: McGee named college football's greatest super villains of all time.
- 56:11Speaker 1: I was a little disappointed by the list, honestly because
- 56:17Speaker 1: some of them I didn't necessarily think that they were
- 56:21Speaker 1: a villain. Honestly, I looked at like, for instance, he
- 56:27Speaker 1: had number nine, Dion Sanders. Did you see Dion Sanders
- 56:34Speaker 1: as a villain in college football? I saw him one
- 56:37Speaker 1: with Cowboys, but not necessarily when he played at Florida state. Yeah,
- 56:41Speaker 1: I don't remember him. He had number eight as Tim Tebow.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Really that shocked me. Right there? Where does he have
- 56:50Speaker 1: Baker Mayfew? Oh oh, he's not even on the list.
- 56:54Speaker 1: What and you're killing it right now, because you're exactly right.
- 56:59Speaker 1: That's who I would have definitely had on the list,
- 57:03Speaker 1: especially when you had the Oklahoma Oklahoma state they go
- 57:07Speaker 1: up to each other to shake hands, and the Oklahoma
- 57:10Speaker 1: State would and shake their hand, and Baker Mayfield big
- 57:13Speaker 1: made a big deal out of it a flag that too. Yes, yes, yes,
- 57:19Speaker 1: great job. I completely forgot about that. Here's the other
- 57:22Speaker 1: crazy part. Ryan McGee named number seven as the greatest
- 57:26Speaker 1: super villains of all time in college football ESPN, his
- 57:31Speaker 1: own company.
- 57:32Speaker 2: He put them at number seven. Yes, oh, then I
- 57:36Speaker 2: just this old list just loses credit. Bill all right,
- 57:40Speaker 2: I thought this was too low. He put Notre Dame
- 57:43Speaker 2: as number six. Notre Dame to me is number one.
- 57:45Speaker 2: I thought we were naming players. Well he's kind of no.
- 57:48Speaker 2: He didn't say players, he just said super villains. And
- 57:53Speaker 2: he's always named ESPN Notre Dame. He named number five
- 57:58Speaker 2: nineteen nineties Miami football team. Then he put on their
- 58:02Speaker 2: number four Brian Bosworth, which I thought was a really
- 58:05Speaker 2: good choice. Number three was Johnny Manziel, Number two Lane
- 58:09Speaker 2: Kiffen agreed, and number one is Steve Spurrier. I'd almost
- 58:14Speaker 2: flip it. Yeah yeah, oh yeah, oh yes he he
- 58:22Speaker 2: and Bill Curry did not get along the former UK
- 58:26Speaker 2: football coach. And I promise you I think Steve Spurrier
- 58:30Speaker 2: every time he played the UK when Bill Curry was
- 58:34Speaker 2: the head coach, I really think he gave it to
- 58:37Speaker 2: UK just to get back.
- 58:38Speaker 1: At Bill Curry. And I firmly believe that. Now I
- 58:44Speaker 1: want to I want to know from your standpoint talk
- 58:48Speaker 1: about villains within the SEC. Who do you think are
- 58:54Speaker 1: some of the biggest villains or even more so, who
- 58:59Speaker 1: is the most dislike school as far as football within
- 59:04Speaker 1: the SEC? I'd say Bama. See, I think so too.
- 59:11Speaker 1: But that's kind of changing though, isn't it. I mean,
- 59:14Speaker 1: to me that was more related to the coach.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Now for me, it was it would be related to
- 59:20Speaker 2: the success. I mean, when you see the same team
- 59:23Speaker 2: just winning over and over and over and over every year,
- 59:27Speaker 2: that that kind of makes them a villain.
- 59:29Speaker 1: And by ees, yeah, okay, so you think it's see,
- 59:32Speaker 1: I'm I'm kind I'm kind of right there with you.
- 59:34Speaker 1: So if it's Alabama number one, and you and I
- 59:37Speaker 1: agree with that, who's number two? Tennessee? That's kind of
- 59:44Speaker 1: where I go. Maybe Texas, But yeah, but Texas is
- 59:48Speaker 1: too new to the SEC to put them that high,
- 59:51Speaker 1: is what I think. I just think it's too new.
- 59:53Speaker 1: I was kind of in between either Georgia or Tennessee,
- 59:59Speaker 1: and I I think I let my heart rule my
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: head and I put Tennessee up above Georgia. And I
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: think as far as the most dislike schools, it goes Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: and then probably Georgia underneath that.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: I do think Georgia's creeping up the list with just
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: all the offseason stuff that they deal with or off
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: the field stuff. Yeah, the speeding and the car crashes
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: and stuff like that.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: But I'm getting to the point now that Old Miss
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: and LSU are up there, but it's more related to
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: the coaches, because Lane Kiffin is becoming quickly I think
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: the most dislike coach within the SEC. You know, the
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Tennessee fans can't stand them. You know that now the
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Old Miss fans can't stand them. So I think Lane
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: kiffen kind of weighs in and makes LSU the probably
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: the third most dislike school, and they might be one
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: or two because of Lane Kiffin. Yeah, I could agree
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: with that, So I don't know. I just I always
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: thought that was kind of a fun thing. Who's the
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: most who's the least disliked team in the SEC? And
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I think it's because of irrelevancy. I tend to think
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: it's Mississippi State probably, so, yeah, because they're irrelevant. Yeah,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: that's probably the right answer. And maybe after that, I
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: don't know, you still got the closeness of Diego because
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: so many people didn't like Diego. I probably would be Vanderbilt.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: You think they're the second least to see I don't
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: know if I agree with that. I'm trying to think
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: who it would be.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Everybody just it feels like everybody's still at a point
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: where they're not threatened about Vanderbilt. They're more so just
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: impressed what they've been able to do. But once Vanderbilt
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: can get to that where they're threatening, then yeah, maybe
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: they move on up.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, so you think, all right, you think Mississippi
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: State is the least Vandy's right behind there. Who's next?
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: I would say Missouri, but Dorkowitz gets a lot of hate,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: see exactly. And I'm right there with Shane Beemer too.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: I think they are up there on the upper echelon
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: because of Shane Beemer. And it's probably just because of Oh, I.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Know who it is. We are forgetting a team here
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: that that's at the bottom of the list, Arkansas. Nobody
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: cares about to give one iota about Arkansas.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: Yeah, see, I think it's Mississippi State Arkansas. And then Vanderbilt.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: I think you got to give a little more credit.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Clarklee's got it going on down there, and we don't
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: respect enough of Vanderbilt that they're going to have a
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: lot of money to spend on these players. Remember, they
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: got one of the top quarterbacks in the country that's
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: going the quarterback. Yes, but how long does he stay there?
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: Do you think? Does he stay there three years? If
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: he's the starter? Yeah, I wouldn't see why not? Really? Okay,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: all right, then maybe that's the case. Let's get back
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: to the Whiskey thief text line. One person said, Hey, Sunshine, Scooter,
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: looks like maybe Carson Beck could be a better NFL
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: quarterback than Mendoza. We know cam Ward is a better
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: quarterback than Mendoza, So maybe the Miami Hurricanes have two
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: recent quarterbacks better than Mendoza. Carson Beck.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: Carson Beck's a Georgia guy, first of all, who went
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: and played one year at Miami. And first and second
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: of all, we have got to slow our role on
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: this whole Carson Beck thing. Yeah, the dude played great
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: in the Hall of Fame game, but he was playing
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: against third string defenses and they did not give him
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: any mix up and he faced two coverages all night.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: They didn't throw anything hard at him.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: So great performance of the Hall of Fame game, but
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: that doesn't equate to being a starting quarterback in the NFL.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: He looked good. He did. I can't say he didn't.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: But again, he's going again thirteen. You consider him more
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Georgia even though he went a lot further in with Miami. Yeah,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: because he started with Georgia, was there for three years.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: I don't know. I I kind of consider him a
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Miami player now. One person Texas and Scoots Scoops also
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: works for Baskin Robbins. I like that, uh, and As
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: always suck at Scoots and have you checked the back seat, Well,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: you don't have to check the back. I don't know,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: thank god, and neither do I anymore. So. Uh but
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: but you know, late at night, do you ever get
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: in your car when you're when you're by yourself at
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: night and look back there? Not? Really, No, I do,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: especially in the morning, I'll look back there.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: No.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: I mean I live in a where I live is
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: really really safe, So then I don't have anything to
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: worry about.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: How is puke whoops? I mean dupe not in a
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: is in a villain? They are a villain, but they're
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: not in the SEC. Well that wasn't that for college
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: football too? I don't consider Duke a villain in football's Yeah, no,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: if you want to do the whole basketball one. I
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: mean to me, across the country, and this is not
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: just my personal feeling. I think across the country as
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: far as basketball, Duke is the number one villain and
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: it's not even close.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with that. Have you, by the way,
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: have you seen their non conference schedule this year?
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: Duke?
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Jesus, it's it's easy. No, it's filthy, Oh it is, really?
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: I have so many good games. Really, is this John's
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: last season? If he didn't do well?
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: No, it's not. Yeah, I don't think so either. All right,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: number two of basketball villains, I really think it's John
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: cal Perry. So you put Arkansas up there.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: People are and it's not it's not just its official.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: You could make the case they're number one.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Yeah, probably, and not just officials. You put on their
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: officials calling time its will go see a replay. I
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: think that might be over Duke. I think that's the
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: one thing that college basketball fans can't stand the most,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: how much time officials are taking to look at replace
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: and it's way too much. And the fact that they're
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: getting a lot of TV time they shouldn't because you know,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: some of these guys want that TV time, They want
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: to get that recognition, they want to get exposed to
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: a national audience TV. He didn't get that name for
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: no exactly. So I'd put officials first, Duke second, Arkansas third.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Do we put Do we put Roy Williams? No? Not
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Roy Williams. I mean he's retired, let him go. How
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: about Pearl? Do you think Bruce Pearl is more disliked
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: than Roy Williams. Yeah, because he gave his son that job. Yeah,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: but that's I mean, that's just one incidence, whereas Roy
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: Williams has had a whole list of duke people that
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: don't like him, and I think outside of that too, how.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: About Jay Billis he's got to be on the list
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: really kind of like j BILLI I do too, but
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: majority of people do not, do they not?
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: I would be interested because you know, his niece and
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: nephew went to the UK, so I always think he's
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: kind of giving UK a pass because of that. He
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: didn't want to hurt his niece and nephew. But I
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: don't know, I kinda, I kind of feel that way.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: But i'd say the u c L A coach that
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: you love so much, Mike McK cronin, I think he's
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: up there. No, No, we forgot one UKNT Yeah Hurley, Yeah,
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Danny Hurley, I completely forgot I think.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: When you know when. So we talked about it last week,
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: the whole Boston College situation. Yes, with Luke Murray. Murray,
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: you know he coached under Dan Hurley, oh very much.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: So he's been getting a lot of heat because he's
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: acting like him, just like Hurley.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Hi. Yeah, yeah, because he wasn't like that at u
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: of L. Because you know, he was assistant coach at
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: U of L. And so now I look at this
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, please, don't turn into Hurley. We
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: don't need another Hurley. And I almost rank Hurley above
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: anybody else. I think Hurley is the big lane. Kiffen's
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: the biggest villain in college football right now. Dan Hurley
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: is the biggest villain in men's basketball. I can't disagree
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: with that. Yeah, I'm right there with you. That's a
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: guy I would go against. I think he'd kill me.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: He'd probably have a U what is it the homemade
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: knife they use in s Is it a shank?
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I thought it was a shiva. I'm something
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: like that. Okay, I've really Oh well, let me tell
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: you all about it. I've never been, so don't ask me.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: Uh but no, I bet he'd be out there playing
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: real dirty. That to me, he would be the dirtiest
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: of all players out there. If you put coaches against coaches, yeah,
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: he'd be the dirtiest. He'd be the Grayson Allen of coaches.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Oh, would he be flopping? No, I'd be tripping everybody
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: up in and flopping. Yeah, he would be. And then
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: he complained once he flopped even though he wasn't touched.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: How much he hurts after the flop. So, all right,
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: we gotta take another break. Filow two three four fourteen fifty.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Send me more of your text Filow two four one
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: four fourteen fifty, and we'll get to those as well,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: because I'm enjoying it. Take care? Why did I say
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: take care? We'll be right back. I'm not leaving you.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: Get slowly on your Battip.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: Two Montrose never heard of him? Okay, this song is
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: named after me. It's called Justin. It's called bad Motor Scooter.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Well it's about your life and what happened
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: to you. How long ago was that?
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: By the way, oh my goddaughter is five.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: It was right before she was born, almost six years ago. Okay,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: So and and how did this come about? So you
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: admitted this on radio, that you fell. Why would you
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: ever admit that? I don't know if I would ever
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: admit that. I mean, I'm an open book. I've never
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: I've never been one to hide anything. Fair enough, all right, Uh,
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: let's talk a little bit about horse racing. Is sovereignty back? Yes?
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: So back? Yeah? Best forse ever? Is it really whoa?
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: All right? I'm not going that far. Great race Saturday
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: at Saratoga, uh and the one million dollar Whitney, I
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: felt like I was watching the Kentucky Derby all over again.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Did you realize it was? Yeah? Awesome? I mean, what
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: is wrong with the horse Baeza. I don't get it.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: That horse. I'm kind of worried I might have one
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: of those, but it just stands there and just wait,
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: lets everybody take off. I don't get because that horse
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: is very talented. But it's kind of nice. Is nice
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: to see Sovereignty win after the last race that lost
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: a magnitude and I think, wasn't it Also the race
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: before that, Sovereignty lost to White to Barrio, who was
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: terrible came in last place. I was really surprised about that.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: So they're talking about retiring that horse. But the other
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: part that was really cool about that race is Nitrogen.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: But those of you that don't know nitrogen. Nitrogen, I'm
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: having a hard time saying nitrogen. Great name, but it's
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: named after a Philly. So this was a Philly that
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: beat all the boys with the exception of Sovereignty. I
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: I thought that was really cool. I mean, she was
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: leading the whole yes, completely, and I thought, no, there's
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: no way she's gonna really get beat because she's gonna
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: be tired. But she kept up with them, and I
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: thought that was awesome. I enjoyed it. There was a
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: lot of great horse racing on Saturday and Sunday and Sunday.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: It's exactly right. Yeah, uh one we had one running
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: second yesterday at El's Park, Corona. Diorro ran in the
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: Els Park Derby or whatever it's called. So but he
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: ran a really nice race that was speaking of the Derby.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: So is it weird that they ran? So the Whitney
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: was the.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: Main race on Saturday with sovereignty, but the race prior
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: to that was the Saratoga Derby.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Yeah. I found that really odd.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: Because you would think if it's at Saratoga and it's
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: their Derby, that that would be the showcase event.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Oh, I see what you're saying it. Well, the Whitney
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: stakes his bigger race. Yeah, it's just another race, unlike
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: because you're just accustomed to the Kentucky Derby being the
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Derby the biggest race. Well, Sarah Toka Derby is not
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: that big. It's big, but not like the Whitney. So yeah,
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: I see what you're saying.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: And then who was it on Who was the jockey
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: on Friday Night that won like six races in a
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: row or five races in a row?
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Was that flabbying? It wasn't, Pratt. I can't think of
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: who it was. Gosh, dang it. I can't think of
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: it either, but I'll see if track it down, Okay,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: But yeah, it was, I mean it was. They were
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: a lot of good horse racing this and honestly, Fox
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: is doing a great job advertising and uh public not publicizing,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: but broadcasting all these races. So you know, we've all
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: been worried about what's gonna happen to horse racing from
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: fan Duel's perspective, and uh tvg listen, Fox. I hope
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: they take over all of it because I'm really pleased
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: with their announcers, uh and and all that they do
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: with horse racing. They're just doing a phenomenal job. But
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: I don't know if Churchill down since they have a
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: deal with NBC for the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby,
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: what they're going to do the rest of the time.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: But if they want Fox to take over regular season, man,
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: I'd love it. Because they're they They do a great
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: America Stay at the Racings Races is really a good show,
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: and I enjoy a lot of their announcers. So I
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: didn't know who any of them worrying. Now I'm getting
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: to a point I know everyone of them and they're
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: fun to listen to.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: So it was Manny Franco. I was thinking of Manny Franco. Okay, yeah,
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: just sent it. Yeah, thank you forty eight handily. But yeah,
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: you're exactly right.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: That is crazy. But uh uh the other horse that
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: did really well on Saturday? Did you see it? Coach Pope?
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Coach Pope ran on Saturday, the one you know,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: the one that Kenny Peak named after Mark Pope. Well
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: it ran second, so it didn't were the didn't win,
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: but the cult by tap it uh looked really good.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: You know. They paid three hundred and fifty thousand dollars
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: for that horse as a yearling. That seems cheap. No, No,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: for a yearling, that's a lot of money. Yeah, oh yeah.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: Typically you you hope you kind of double your money
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: or make a lot more so as a two year old.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: So that would mean it would be anywhere from a
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: five hundred thousand upwards of seven hundred thousand dollars horse
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: as a two year old. So yeah, that was good.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: So I was I was real happy for coach Pope
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: the horse And so yeah, what does that mean? Does
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: that mean? Is that an early predictor on the basketball season?
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: We're gonna have a pretty good basketball season because you
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: you know, first time out running second, especially when you're
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: going to Saratoga, those are big time horses up there. Yeah,
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: so you kind of feel good on the perspective on
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: how the basketball team at Universit Kentucky. Will do you
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: take second the CC? Wouldn't you? Oh? In the SEC? Absolutely,
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: I'd take it in a heartbeat right now? Would I
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: take second in the SEC in the n CLA Tournament? No,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: I want one. Wow. But if they came in second,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: I would be happy. That would be a very very
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: successful season. Yeah. Yeah. Who would you want me to ask?
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: Who would you want to ask me questions? At this
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: media madness? Who do you think is gonna ask the
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: best questions? Oh? Uh? Probably?
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: I mean it's gonna be one of the more experienced
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: guys that has obviously been through press conferences a time
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: or a thousand in their career.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: I don't know. I would go with.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: Somebody like you gotta well, you gotta think who who
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: was a star.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: At their last stop? Mom Chilovich. I think Mom Chilovich
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: would probably be the answer. And see, I'm a little
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: afraid what questions he would ask me. I'm a little
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: I'm a little intimidated by that. I think Malachai Moreno
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: would be one of those players that just wants to
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: have fun. He wants to joke. I would probably get
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: along with Malachi. He and I would have fun, kind
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: of like Shay Gilgis and I had a lot of
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: fun when we had basketball media day. Zoom Diallo, I
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: think Zoom would be good. Alex Wilkins would probably be good,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: would be a great one. Who else would be I
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: would worry about Noah Trent or Trent Noah, God bless
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: Travis Reid read Travis. I know it well. I mean
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: I screwed up with Travis Reid. That's probably how it's
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: screwed up right there. And he would look at me
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: what is my if he asked me, mister Bennett, what
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: is my name? Or or well, wait a minute, do
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: you think he'll call me mister Bennett? Or do you
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: think they'll call me Michael? Michael, Sure you think so? Yeah.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: I could see one of them even calling you Mike. No, no, yeah, listen,
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: I probably see Mark Pope calling me Mike. Yeah, and
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna throw the basketball at him. I said, dude,
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: my name's Michael. I quit and I just walk off.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: How's that? And then he just yelled at me. I
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: always knew you were a quitter, but no one person
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: texted in Spurrier forty Handley did for Sprayer was unpopular
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: because he was smart, handsome, and he won a lot.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: Is that the reason? I think it's more than he
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: just won a lot? Back in that day, that's when
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: Florida was really good. Dannie Harley, come to the podium
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: and get your gold medal. We think Steve Spurrier was handsome,
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: I don't. I before my time, I have no idea
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: Steve Spurry would run the score up on his grandma.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: That's true. I think he would, thank you, Josh, But listen,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: he really put it to Bill Curry. I'm telling you
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: right now. Uh. One person said, no free ads, but
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: y'all do partake in seven brew? Nope, what's that?
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: I had a feeling you were gonna say that it's
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: like the latest coffee coffee spot.
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: Oh okay, people love it. Well I don't.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: I don't understand what he's saying though. He's asking if
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: we partake in it. No, no, I don't know.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: I'm not a coffee I'm not either. No. Yeah? Uh?
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: If so? Why are your go tos? Mine? Are night
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: Shade Energy, cherry blossom tea or brew chata? Oh? Really?
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: It says h a t a rest in Peace scooters.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: They are losing the drive through drinks battle. What huh?
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: Terry blossom teeth sounds good? Um? Yeah, i'd probably. I'm
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: not a big cherry guy. Though. All right, if I
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: go somewhere, all right, I'll tell you right now, there's
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: a place over there by Churchill Downs that I love
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: to go to if it's a coffee thing and it's
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: called Dutch Brothers. Have you been to Dutch Brothers before?
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: So I'll go to Dutch Brothers. And my go to
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: mister Illinois is a iced latte with sugar free vanilla
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: in it. That's what I like, And it's a little coffee.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: Why are you out on that? What's wrong with you?
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: I'm just not a coffee. Okay, we'll see. That's more milk.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: I figured you would at least try it because it's
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: probably more milk than it is coffee. It's just got
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: I like a little taste of coffee and that's enough
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: for me. But yeah, straight coffee. No, although a g
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: a guy at the track a couple weeks ago, brought
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: me a cup of coffee? How do you say no?
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: And then how do you just stand there and not
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: drink it with while he's standing there with you, You're
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: talking to you for an hour. I'd have been like
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: you sure you don't want this? No, you just say no?
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: You say did you dream? So I drank it And
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: here's the crazy part. I kind of liked it. No,
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: I did. By the way. Congratulations to Ryan Howard, the
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: former UK women's basketball player, for being named to represent
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: Team USA in the twenty twenty six FOEBA Women's World Cup.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: Congratulations to her. They're not gonna lose a game by
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: less than fifty really, or win a game by less
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: than fifty, So they're kind of like the nineteen eighty
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: four or whatever that team ninety two dreams. Literally, yeah,
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: they're the yeah, because there's not women's basketball anywhere else
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: other than here, maybe a little bit in Europe? Is
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: that pretty much it?
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: I know, I think they anywhere they have men's basketball,
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: they have women's it's just not good quality. Yeah, and
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: you're putting literally our best fifteen players on that roster,
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: and yeah, good luck.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: Yeah, Ryan Howard's a good absolutely and she's had a
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: phenomenal year. She leads in so many different things. This
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: has been a banner year for her. I'm hoping she
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: is close to a new contract where she makes a
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: lot more money on her Her teammate Angel Reese is
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: also on the team. That's too bad. And the video
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: floating around this weekend of their coach telling them that
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: in the locker room was really cool, just seeing all
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: their other teammates going crazy for him and being happy. Well,
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: that's nice. Yeah. Yeah. You know you were talking about
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: in your show The sun Rise of Scoots earlier about
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: people that don't watch Women's NBA. I don't. I just
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: in the whole You're not alone, Yeah, and the whole
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Angel Reese thing that's kind of killed it for me.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: I just I think she's been bad, bad for the
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: w Nbayah. I don't disagree and which which is really
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: a shame. But at least she invented a new stat
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: which was me bounds, me bounds, me bounds.
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: Oh what do you mean, me bounds? That's where she
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: misses and gets her own rebounds.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah, she leads the league inn really, so
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: it's a real stat that they're keeping. It's not one
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: in the w n B A. But people, Oh, I
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: see I like that. I think, all right, well, we
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: got to take our last break. When we come back,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: I want to talk a little in NFL news, Uh,
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: Terry Bridgewater and everybody complaining about the brand new billion
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: dollars stadium up in Buffalo. Stay right there, one more
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: segment of Jessica always to comes to talk to you
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: about it, say, such, I ain't seen nothing thing. You're
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: down on them, and then you show them be a
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: change and way. I'm not a shaying lead. I a
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: really young bead. All the times I can rim on
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: miss all the best things. I love them little Sistrendacus
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: and overstat him with.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: A little just like this.
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: Do you like this version better? Or do you like
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: the run d m Z version? This one? Really? Oh
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: you don't like the rap version? Not really.
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: No, oh, I think that you liked Errol Smith, but
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: that is what I was gonna say. I really don't
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: care much for Errol Smith, so that's an unusual take
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: for me. I just don't see how you can dislike arrols.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: Everyone's different, Michael. Yeah they are, okay, fair enough, they are,
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: but they're good. You should like them. Wow, Okay, just okay,
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: just okay. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Uh.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Forty Handley texted out, Sarah, Toga Derby is for three
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: year olds on the grass, So there you go. The
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: Whitney is a storied face for all comers, this second
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: most prestigious race of the meet, that being the Traverse.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: The Whitney has actually been won by mayors several times,
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: including the first one. So there you go. I didn't
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: know that either, so thank you very much, forty eight Handley.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: That was That was perfect way to find out all
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: about that. But it's kind of been a week now.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: How are we still feeling about this Horse Racing Championship Series?
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Did you see the interview with your boy on Fox
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: Sports one? Go ahead? No, Bill Carstanjo, Oh No, I did.
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: Not, So he did an interview with the TV coverage
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: along with the guy who's over NIRA can't recall his name.
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: At this point, both of them talked about this championship
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: race series and the whole thing with Preakness. Yeah, neither
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: of them even mentioned the Preakness. Yeah, not once. They said, Yeah,
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: we just want to do this championship series because we
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: want all these races to be like the Kentucky Derby
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: and the Belmont, And they intentionally did not say Preakness,
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: and I was sitting there watching it. I was like, well,
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: this is pretty uncomfortable.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: What is that going to do? Then? Is that going
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: to make more people feel bad for the Preakness and
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: then it brings up popularity for it, or or is
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: it going to be the death of the Preakness purely
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: because the owners and trainers as well as jockeys are
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: going to just go the route of where the money
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: is and that's how people are going to forget about
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: the Preakness.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: I'd say the Preakness is gonna not go away, but
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: it's popularity. I think we'll go way down. If you
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: got these two entities working together, the two biggest powerhouses
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: and horse racing as it stands now, and they're not
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: even gonna mention the Preakness. I think it's gone. That
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: tells you everything you need to know. Even though people
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: are one are wanting to support them because they feel
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: bad for the Preakness, it's it's just the horses are
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: not gonna go there. That's your problem.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: And the part I wish they could work it out
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: to where the Preakness is a part of this somehow
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: someway because I don't want to see the Triple Crown
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: go away. But this is where we're watching the death
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: of the Triple Crown and I hate that, I really do.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: I mean, what's gonna happen to all these horses that
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: want it? I mean, are we gonna forget about them? No?
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: I mean are we going to concentrate more on the
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: horses that are winning the championship series?
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: I mean, I think those horses that have won the
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: Triple Crown will always have their place in history. But yeah,
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: I don't. It doesn't feel like it's gonna be a
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: thing moving forward.
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: Now, No, it's not. And moving it eight days past
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: the Derby or I'm sorry, fifteen days past the Derby
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: and only six days ahead of the Belmont Steakes is
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: just worse. So I don't know what Maryland plans on
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: doing now, if they're trying to reach out to Churchill
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: Downs or if they're trying to reach out to NIRA
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: and try and figure this thing out. But I mean,
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: the people are in control is NIRA and Churchill Downs,
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: the New York Racing Association. So and I'm excited about it.
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: I just hate to see Pimlico not a part of it.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: But I'm not going to dictate anything.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: Change sucks more times than not, it does. I don't
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: I've never liked change, But then again, I mean, you
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: just had a change with the Kentucky football program. Look
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: at the excitement that's brought. So maybe this whole Championship
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: Series thing will bring excitement and years down the line
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: from now, we won't even remember.
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: The Triple Crowd. Well not just but but I'll still
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: remember the Preakness, and I'll be sad about that. I
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: just wish that they could figure that part out. So
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: I mean, oh well, let's just knock get off on that.
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: So I was sorry to hear this though yesterday. I've
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: always been even though he played for U of L,
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: I've always been a fan of Terry Bridgewater. I've always
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: liked him. I've always thought he was a great quarterback
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: head to toe. I'll even go this far. I was
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: always surprised he was not more of a starting role
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: type quarterback for a team. And I just think it's
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: just different situations where he just never had an honest shot.
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: I thought, you really think so? I think Listen, the
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: place that he had the best shot was with the
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Saints down New Orleans and Drew Brees kind of screwed
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: him because he said, well, I'm not ready to retire yet,
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: and then that just kind of ruined it for Teddy Bridgewater.
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: I don't know. I've always thought he was better. If
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: you ask me, I always thought he was better than
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson stopping I'm not stopping that I would have
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: taken because I think he's a better passer. Now. Lamar
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: is a better scrambler, but in the NFL, scrambling quarterbacks
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: don't do that well.
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: Lamar has gotten tenfold better at passing. You got to
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: give him some credit for that. I gotta see it
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: before I can agree to it. Well, then you haven't
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: watched a Ravens game the last three years?
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I have and it's not been by his passing
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: is a lot better now, it might be a lot better,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: but I don't think it's better than Teddy Bridgewaters.
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: Well then why didn't Why has been Lamar been starting
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: for what eight nine years now? And Bridgewater Desperation started
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: a total of eighty three games.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: Were you surprised though? Were you surprised that he made
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: the announcement abruptly yesterday like he did?
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: I was no, because didn't he already retire once? But yeah,
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: I mean he went and coached a football team. Yeah,
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: that high school team.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah, he's going to go back and do that.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: Is that? Did he say that? Yeah? Okay? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: So I hate it for him because I just feel
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: like somebody out there should have given him better shot.
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: But it's getting to a point. Yeah, he's getting to
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: the age where it's just not going to work. And
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: I do I like Terry Bridgewater and I wish him
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: the best, and I just I wish he'd gotten a chance.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: He made his money? Did he really? Absolutely? I have
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: no idea how much he made, but you're probably right.
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: He probably made his money. Now Buffalo Bills, tell me
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: when you get it Buffalo bills. All the fans are
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: criticizing the new two point two billion dollars stadium. Have
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: you seen all the pictures? It looks cool, It looks cool,
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: But I've seen more people posting pictures of obstructed views
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: within the stadium.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: Oh I have seen some of those. Oh man, like
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: the oh yeah. And then they said the scoreboard was
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: too small. It goes across the the end zone. Is
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: it because it's it's too narrow? Is that what it is?
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: It's wide, but it's it's narrow from the height. And
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: I'm assuming that's what they mean by that. Uh, fans
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: were getting uh, we're complaining about getting rained on. It's like, well,
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: wait a minute, it's an outdoor stadium. Why are you
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: complaining about this? And then also, uh, they ran out
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: of food. It's like, how do you run out of
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: food in the first exhibition game?
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: They played an exhibition game? Well that something was going on, Okay, right,
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: Well they must have been just showing off the stadium.
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: So and then the other problem is they said they
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: had to take long staircases to get through their seats. Yeah,
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: I mean no. Now, now wait, not all fans can
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: walk up and down stadium are staircases like you and
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: I can. So you know you got older generations that
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: have issues with that. I mean, come on, the brand
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: new stadium. You would expect it. An escalator would get
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: you close to your seat, not long staircase. You would
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: have thinked two point two billion would have included in
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: that exactly exactly. I mean, so, I don't know a
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: lot of people were complaining that's the worst designed stadium
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: for two point two billion dollars. Ever, and those obstructed views.
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: They did have a lot of complaints about that. Yeah,
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: and they should have complained about that. It was amazing
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: how bad it was. All right?
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: Did you find the Terry Bridgewater Teddy? Yeah, he made
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: almost sixty seven million.
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: Oh he did it. He's doing five.
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: Yeah, he's definitely the worst part about it is it
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: breaks it down by team. He got paid a million
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: to a quarterback for the Jets. I think I would
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: have rather just Tooken that year off. Wow, I just
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: I was hoping he'd play with the Detroit Lions, and
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: so anyway, that's just the way it goes. I did
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: see this though. One of my favorite former MLB players
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: they so they had a Seattle Mariner alumni home run
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: derby yesterday and Itchi ro Suzuki is one of my
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: all time favorite players. Fifty two years old and he
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: hit seven home runs yesterday. How crazy is that? That
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: is crazy?
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: And he had the quote saying that if he if
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: he could have been okay with baton two twenty in
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: the majors, he could have hit a lot of homers.
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I listen, I think he'll go down.
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: He's going to be in the He's not in the
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: Hall of Fame yet, right, I don't think so much,
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: but he will be should and should yeah, and it's
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: definitely deserved. He was fun to watch. He could put
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: a baseball anywhere he wanted to. He just put the
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: bat out there and he would aim it and boom
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: it be right there. I just I loved watching him play.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: And I'm sorry that he didn't play anymore. But many
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: I didn't realiz time had passed by that fast that
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: he's fifty two now. I would have never thought that.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: So all right, Hey, I appreciate you listening on this Monday.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: We'll see you tomorrow on just catch somebody help me?
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: How do I get in shape? I need to learn
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: how I get in shape for this basketball thing we'll
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: see tomorrow.
